ok I've been sleeping on Fablehaven but I'm getting through a chapter or two during lunch and I have several things to say about this part (chapters 7&8)
I think about the 'blowing bubble for the fairies' scene all the time. enrichment in their enclosure literally
I forgot that Stan just casually understands the fairy language? how did he learn it? did he take a class lol. Also do all the fairies know English?
I don't ship Kendra/Bracken but I do have to say she started off the whole 'loving unicorns' thing all the way back in book 1. so good for her ig
Seth capturing and accidentally transforming the fairy + the fairies' retaliation is an absolutely perfectly executed plot point. Like 1) it's a good bridge between the low-stakes first half and and the high-stakes second half. It defines the stakes and illustrates the potential consequences of breaking rules, laying through groundwork for the turning point at the summer solstice. And like the concept of using magic by interacting with natural laws. AND AT THE SAME TIME it increases the tension and directly relates to the climax by forcing them to untie one of Muriel's knots. Fantastic introduction to that plotline. (I say introduction even though we've already met Muriel and her rope because its here where we learn the significance of the knots and the risk of her being set free.) Literally this part of the plot perfectly sets up basically everything that follows AND YET IT DOESN'T FEEL FORCED! Like of course Seth would catch a fairy he's the perfect combination of competent and stupid to move things forward. A+ character.
"Hush Seth. You've lost the ability of speech." iconic line for some reason
The 'acting according to their nature' magical creatures vs. 'more agency + more consequences' humans and the spectrum in between is one of the most interesting things about this series to me. Like how Stan points out that fairies love themselves and imps hate themselves but "their personalities remain the same—shallow and self-absorbed." absolutely fascinating implications...and how later there's the more "intelligent" creatures like centaurs and demons and how they do have more agency but are also trapped by their nature idk it just makes me go a little insane. And like how Lena prefers to be a human now but when she's a naiad she prefers to be a naiad and how that's echoed by the changing nature of dragons when they take human form and dfghjk I'm getting ahead of myself
The dichotomy of Muriel being a creepy old lady in a gross shack but speaking very smoothly and politely. A+
"Kendra, nice to meet you, may you find less happiness than you deserve." asdfghjk

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)
Tumblr media
When you call a film a Frankenstein’s Monster, the assumption is that you've stitched together pieces of different properties to make a new thing. That doesn’t quite work with The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. If it were merely Vampire Academy (which is part Twilight) plus Harry Potter, it would have two legs, two arms and a single head. This movie is more like a teleportation accident. All the arms, legs, and heads are still there, creating a would-be franchise starter so unoriginal you can keep yourself entertained by predicting what’s coming next.
Teenaged Clary Fray (Lily Collins) worries her mother, Jocelyn (Lena Headey), when she begins drawing a strange symbol. Soon, Clary begins seeing things and people no one else can, which is when she’s introduced to the world of “Shadowhunters”. “Mundanes” cannot see them, but demons live among us. The Shadowhunters are half-human half-angel warriors who hold the forces of evil back. When the villainous Magnus Bane (Godfrey Gao) kidnaps her mother, Clary and her best friend Simon (Robert Sheehan) join Jace Wayland (Jamie Campbell) to help. Hopefully Jocelyn' abduction does not mean the Mortal Cup (one of three Mortal Instruments given to the first Shadowhunter by the angel Raziel) has fallen into the wrong hands.
The more YA novel adaptations I see, the more credit I must give to the original Twilight film. Both it and the Harry Potter series started off small, building up their love plots and world-shaking final battles. The imitators make the mistake of introducing so much in the first chapter you can hardly keep track of what’s happening. This world has angels, demons, witches, vampires and werewolves… all living among us and right under our noses. There’s the obligatory love triangle between Lily, her creepy best friend who pines for her (seriously, Simon is totally a proto incel) and the hunky, dangerous, tattoo-clad supernatural warrior who doesn’t want anything to do with the girl but can’t stay away from her. There are prophecies, magic tattoos, betrayals, revelations and so much going on this feels like two or three movies crammed into one. Well, in many ways, it is. If you haven’t seen The Maze Runner, Divergent, The Host, Eragon, Red Riding Hood, Beastly and so many others, this plot may seem novel but to the rest of us, this is a parade that makes you wonder “what’s next?!” in the worst way. Just wait until the part where they talk about Sebastian Bach. It’s so loopy I almost say it’s worth seeing this movie for it alone.
Part of what makes The City of Bones so entertaining is that it keeps finding new ways to be bad. Overall, the special effects are fine for a mid-budget production but note the way the afore-mentioned werewolves never transform on-screen because… you know, that would be expensive. As you watch and wait for the titular City of Bones to appear, keep your expectations low because the sanctuary is so unimportant it should’ve been omitted entirely. The romantic love plot is the middle of much bigger things will either infuriate you, or cause you to slip into uncontrollable laughter. I know these are teens with raging hormones but come on people. The peril outside is so much bigger than who’s kissing who! I know this is supposed to be wish-fulfilment for teenage girls. It's just that Clary makes so many wrong decisions and causes so many problems it’s a little embarrassing to watch.
Despite everything, I’m disappointed this picture never got the sequel it so desperately wanted. They drop a bomb towards the end. I want it resolved so desperately I’d sit through at least 2 to 3 more of these just to see it resolved. It’s another thing to make fun of. This is the embodiment of teenage angst in the middle of much bigger things, which means I had a great time watching The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. (August 30, 2019)

The nameplate of this damn sturdy precision Thrash machine reads 2017 - and, yes, the four Thrash'n'Death metallers from SMORRAH are definitely powerhouse guys!
Location: Gelsenkirchen. That's right, the oft-mentioned city known for its glorious soccer club Schalke 04, also home to the Teutonic Thrash Metal pioneers of Sodom. In this former mining area, the eerie legend of the nasty demon "Smorra", who sits on the chests of sleeping people at night and tries to suffocate them bitterly, has been reverently told for generations. LINE-UP: Marius Wegener • Vocals Daniel 'Pumper' Hartmann • Guitars Christian 'Kraje' Krajewski • Bass Raphael Swierczynski • Drums
Our local patriotic heroes gave their own heavy steel commando such a demonic name. Also breathtaking are the stunningly vehemently riffed, fatally powerful and groovy SMORRAH blasts of notes, skillfully crowned by many technical refinements - DEATH THRASH METAL that just pops!
With charismatic playing strength, the bright formation delivers immensely intense, gripping song loads, all of which drill into your consciousness like a workaholic miner on adrenaline!
SMORRAH have also written some similarly spooky stories on their sooty banner, which the determined and tried-and-tested foursome around front beast Marius hoist high into the half-heartedly blowing trend wind!
With their unmistakable and thoroughly uncompromising sound, paired with gloomy lyrics, the band knows how to convince every time anew! Influences from all Metal genres and beyond come together to form a Groove Thrash monster that takes no prisoners.

With their debut album "Welcome To Your Nightmare", SMORRAH release a total of 9 variedly conceived and hellishly powerfully produced songs.
High tension is guaranteed: "Welcome To Your Nightmare" energetically takes the listener on a gripping journey into the dark abysses of human psychology, leaving you hardly any time to catch your breath - the deliciously tight, bludgeon-from-the-bag quartet really does more than justify the legend surrounding the band's name!
Tireless headbangers, maniacal Thrashers and hungry Groove heads will all get their money's worth.
And anyone who has experienced these four likeable, down-to-earth heavyweights from Gelsenkirchen at one of their highly explosive and absolutely sweat-inducing live shows knows that there is only one direction with SMORRAH: Straight ahead! Auf Loik!

MEDIA FEEDBACK:
9,5 / 10 ➤ "... fat riffs that almost take your breath away ... the fantastic thing about the guys from Gelsenkirchen is that they don't let anything get in their way and do their own thing ... Caution: danger of addiction! Groovy thrash monsters could also be lurking by your bedside, waiting for a favourable opportunity ..." (Bleeding4Metal)
9 / 10 ➤ "... singer Marius can not only growl very cool, he also has clear vocals that get under your skin ... blast their groovy riff monsters almost non-stop around your ears or sneak into your thoughts in quiet passages ... one of the pearls of the underground, if not the pearl of the month ... convinces with honest Metal that defies all trends and fires from all cylinders for the entire playing time!" (Obliveon)
9 / 10 ➤ "... really fat ... produces strong pressure ... SMORRAH process the anger in their songs and you can feel that in the relentless sound ... everything is offered to torture your neck muscles or to let off steam in the mosh pit ... what a great groovy crusher!" (Metalheads DE)
9 / 10 ➤ "... a very good debut ... convinces with great musical work and ingenious songwriting ... never gets boring, but makes you want more ... what stands out above all is the constant musical class ... not only the voice of Wegener can be heard, but also the qualities of the other musicians ... so one perfectly written riff chases the next and the solos are also uniquely played ... Thrash songwriting in a class of its own ..." (Soundmagnet)
4 / 5 ➤ "... a proof to SMORRAH's ability to combine Thrash and Groove Metal influences into a cohesive and devastatingly heavy sound. With unrelenting aggression, haunting atmospheres and impressive musicianship, this album is a must for fans of extreme Metal ... cementing their place among the genre's top acts." (MetalUnderground AT)
8,8 / 10 ➤ "A true Thrash monster ... a very fat debut album, which not only comes along with energetic music, but was also packed with a fat sound. A cool combination of old and new Thrash." (Zephyr's Odem)
8,6 / 10 ➤ "… absolutely pummelling … definitely nods to Kreator and Sodom in here and the other German Thrash classics too … melodic leads … shreddy as hell too in spots … absolutely fantastic debut … crowned as my favourite Thrash Metal release so far this year … if you just love everything about Thrash and German Thrash, then this absolute ripper is going to be right up your street …" (Drako's Death Metal News & Reviews)
8,5 / 10 ➤ "... relentless sound ... powerful ... as an experienced disciple in the thrash metal universe, you can raise your eyebrows with enthusiasm ... the fire of Sepultura meets the groove of Pantera, mixes with the coldness of Sodom and Kreator and yet has a whole unique style of its own that makes SMORRAH stand out from the sometimes confusing swamp of releases ..." (Powermetal DE)
8 / 10 ➤ "... nine songs that kick ass ... mixture of Thrash Metal (musically), Death Metal (vocally) and a bit of Groove Metal (rhythmically) ... contemporary, no cheap Retro Thrash ... manage to inspire the old and the new generation alike ... the production is mega fat and bangs ... a successful debut!" (Crossfire)
8 / 10 ➤ "... skilfully combine the qualities of bands like Sodom (also based in Gelsenkirchen), Sepultura and Pantera. Of course, one or two riffs sound very familiar, but otherwise they sound very independent. Good and varied songwriting. Good debut album. If you like your thrash metal varied and don't just like thrashing speed, you can pick this up without hesitation." (Time For Metal)
3,5 / 5 ➤ "Get ready to bang your head nonstop while raising your horns … old school, 80’s-infused Thrash Metal extravaganza spearheaded by classic riffs … Marius deeply vociferating like a demented beast … unstoppable, violent sounds brought into being while also alternating between more melodic moments and pure savagery …" (The Headbanging Moose)
➤ "... steely inferno ... relentless heaviness ... brute energy and gritty riffs create an atmosphere that is honest, hard and uncompromising ... debut album that perfectly epitomises the heaviness of Thrash/Death Metal ... with menacing intensity reflected in every track ..." (BlattTurbo)
➤ "Do you like your Death Metal with rich elements of Thrash? And preferably with a bit of Groove throughout? Don't worry - SMORRAH is the answer to your prayers... hard, delivered with tremendous precision and still catchy in that cool way... 9 strong tracks... sure to have many hitting the repeat button, because you can just listen to it again... and again..." (Rancor Metalzine)
➤ "... technically high quality ... fast, melodic, groovy ... the guitars have great moments throughout the album ... it just fits ... sounds really cool ... vocals - my goodness where does the man get these sounds from - Marius' style is brutal, varied and simply ... SMORRAH's debut is a board before the Lord and an absolute buy recommendation ..." (MetalZone - Support The Underground)
➤ "... cool Groove Thrash ... really cool mixture ... not only on the cap ... but also great guitar work, also with nice warm parts ... really good ..." (Scream For Metal)
➤ "… unsettling and ferocious … uncompromising and at times groove laden … sounds less like a debut album and more like the work of a band that have been playing together for years, which bodes very well for the longevity of Metal …" (The Razor's Edge)
➤ "... Thrash Metal rocket that could have come straight from the Bay Area ... this thing rattles brutally and just waltzes over you ... it's a real mouthful ... awesome! Fans of the band will be delighted ... a brutally good album!" (Festivalstalker)
➤ "... killer ... strong Thrash album ... if you like Thrash metal, you will definitely like it ... a little underdog pearl ... I can only warmly recommend SMORRAH ..." (Moshpit Passion)
➤ "... finally ... leave you barely able to breathe ... the band's high energy and live performance make the entire 45-minute album an ideal headbanger. The best examples of this are 'Age Of Decay' or 'Buried Underneath' ..." (Hardrock LT)
➤ "...of high quality, with thoughtful songs in a style that pushes technique and groove in equal measure, with enough energy and speed for my needs and yet with a more open approach to arranging where there is room for different tempos and atmospheres. Solid!" (Cvecezla)
➤ "Each song on the album offers a different experience, showcasing different essences that intermingle between the Thrash and Death base … demonstrates their ability to navigate a wide range of emotions and sounds within Metal … agonizing vocal performance … excellent instrumental execution … offering a very personal sound … an intense debut that will not disappoint you." TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FIRST DND CHARACTER PLEASE
I'll start.
Her name was Lena "HeavyWeight" Greenbottle.
Most people call her "Heavy"
She was a halfing (lightfoot) bard, and her parents were brewers.
She was incredibly sweet and I loved her with all my heart ♡
She eventually retired to a little farm with her wife (Celty, a lovely human lady) and dog (formally her mount, a fluffy mastiff named Lily). For a while.
Her wife had a son from a previous marriage, and Heavy adopted Leo basically instantly.
Unfortunately I don't quite know what happened to Leo. He was conscripted for a war and Heavy and Celty eventually went off to go try to find him.
I dont quite know what happened to them after all that but I hope they found leo and retired but my DM is a little demon man who will definitely kill one of them lol

OC Superlatives tag game
Just saw I got tagged in this, oops. Thanks @lalaurelia ! :D The only OCs I have are for the book I’m writing. And since I’m kind of re-working some characters this is going to be a little difficult, but I’ll try lol.
Rules: Which of your characters best fit the following descriptions?
Most arrogant: It’s a tie between Milo and Felix. Milo’s a demon, so he’s obviously very confident in his abilities and that can translate into arrogance at times. Felix wants to make the world a “better place” so, yeah, that’s pretty arrogant.
Most humble: Lena would be, I suppose. She’s just a regular human and while she has a few skills she’s proud of, she wouldn’t brag about them, and she’d be surprised if people complimented her. Though a close second would be Niki (Werejaguar).
Most charming: Another tie, this time between Milo and Devon. Again, Milo’s a demon, so he’s learned to be charming to get close to prey. Devon is half Gancangh which means he technically charms people without even meaning to or even if he’s actively trying not to.
Most aggressive: Michiru (a Jorōgumo) might take this one, she’s ready to fight at any time.
Most talkative: Vivian (a Jiangshi) for sure, she’s just very outgoing.
Least talkative: Niki, she’s an introvert, and likes mostly focusing on her work.
Most relatable: I would imagine Lena, as she was kind of inspired by myself a bit. She’s just a regular human who doesn’t know what she’s doing in life and had always wished magic was real, and now that it is, she’s partly very into it, but also a bit freaked out lol.
Least relatable: Hm, I guess Milo or Aiden (a Will-O-the-Wisp). Both are inhuman with inhuman morals. I’d probably actually end up going with Aiden, just because Milo ends up adopting some human morals after befriending Lena.
Most ambitious: Felix, again, because he wants to change the world.
Most easy-going: Taylor (a mix of Impundulu/Aziza/Dragon). He’s fairly laid back, at least compared to many of the other characters lol. Not to say he’s completely stress-free or doesn’t take anything seriously, but comparatively, yeah.
Most high-strung: Honestly could be Devon or Niki. I’m leaning more Niki due to her anxiety and perfectionism. Devon has a little anxiety as well, so. Eh, it’s kind of a tie.
Most pretentious: Celeste (Dragon) I suppose. She’s very snobby.
Most cheerful: Vivian, she’s definitely the sunshine of the main group. Can’t think about your trauma if you only focus on the positive, right?
Most patient: Taylor, again, as the more laid back of the group, he tends to be the most patient.
Most diligent: Devon and Niki tie here again. Devon is ambitious, and will do what he can to accomplish his goals, where as Niki just throws herself into her work/hobbies out of the above mentioned anxiety and perfectionism, not really out of any sense of ambition in particular.
Uh, I don’t know who’s got any OCs they’d like to talk about, so I’ll just tag some people. But if I didn’t tag you and you see this and want to do it, please do! Tagging: @butterfliesandresistance , @sunlitroom , @delicatelyserved , @kateera , @marquisedemasque , @nynynightmare

Third Eye P.I. Origin/Introductions part 1
The Third Eye P.I. is a special private investigator agency dedicated to maintaining the balance between two very different worlds. The world of the normies(humans) and the world of the unseen(monsters, myths, legends, and anything else that goes bump in the shadows). The leader of this rag tag crew is Victor Vaz. At first glance he may seem like a normie, but in actuality, he is a master of the paranormal and occult. Since a very young age he had very different perspective of the world. The ability to the see the unseen, a trait that most humans do not have. Due to this perspective, he lead a very lonely life as he had to move constantly as it attracted alot of unwanted attention from both worlds. Much later after traveling the world and conquering his own shadows, he grew some roots with a goregeous tinker fairy named Amaris Greenwood. Amaris was a fairy rejected from her clan due to a being exposed to the "dark enegry". Luckily for her and Victor fate destined them to cross paths when they needed it the most. Together they created The Third Eye P.I. and settle down in Manitou Springs an area full of mysterious energy. As a front they created a little shop called "Tinks and Trinks" for Amaris art and inventions. This was to protect themselves from unwanted characters. Amaris also provides special gadgets and tech to help Victor with his cases. Together they have fought demons, vampires, mischievous gnomes, and many other unseen. They have also provided sanctuary to many unseen push out by the human world. Through out their adventures they have picked up more companions to The Third Eye. Jairo Perez, the muscle and fur of the group. Jairo is a werewolf who lost his family in a tragic assault and was transformed into a werewolf himself. Thanks to Third Eye, he not only learned to control his powers but got vengeance on who those did him wrong. Since then he has been living the chill life with the crew. Last but not least the elf out of time, Lena Morwen. Orphan as a baby by her biological parents, was adopted by a traveling magi. Lena is no ordinary elf as she is half Elvens of the Light and half Elvens of the Dark. From a young age, the magi trained her in the way of a warrior and magic. Day in day out was full of sword drills and books full knowledge from the magi. At the age of 21, the magi mysteriously disappeared. He left a amulet and a note for Lena. "Wear this amulet always and in the hour of your greatest need I will return." Lena left to rediscovered her own kind, but sadly was disappointed. She was rejected due to her mixed blood. Even worse, she was captured by an evil dark elf who wanted to use her for her mixed powers. He did unspeakable things to her and when she finally came to her breaking point she cried out to her master. The amulet she wore lite up brightly and pull her into the future. She appeared to Victor Vaz during a case he was investigating. Victor felt a special connection to this unique elf and with out hesitation took her in. Being all rejects of some kind, the crew took her with open arms and helped her recover. With no where else to go, she became a member of The Third Eye specializing in helping with magic related cases. Peace was only temporary for the crew, as little did they know they were destined to either bring light to the two worlds or bring death and darkness as evil overlords.

How Can I Be With You?
Kara is an angel, one in charge of fighting against demons walking amongst humans and causing evil to spread in both subtle and sometimes blatant ways.  Her brother in arms, Kal-El had been fighting against the most notoriously influential demons known as the Luthors for years as they disguised themselves as a wealthy family on earth.  Lex Luthor, in particular, hated him and made it his mission to cause as much chaos and havoc as possible.  He had even gone out of his way to attack Kal-El in an attempt to kill him many times over.  Things had been tense between the forces of Heaven and the demons of Hell for centuries, but more recently the contention and clashing caused even earth’s humans to notice something was wrong.
If that weren’t bad enough, Kara met Lionel Luthor’s hidden half demon daughter, Lena, at some point on her travels and hadn’t noticed her demon aura since she had been raised amongst humans with her human mother before her death.  After her mother died, Lionel took her in and she didn’t even realize that she was a half demon until Kara came into her life but angels and demons aren’t really meant to live together and just what can Kara do when she finds herself drawn to the half demoness?  No one in Heaven would ever understand her fascination with the half demon woman.
Chapter 1
So Beautiful To Me
Amongst all of the classes of angels, Kara was a special case.  Not only was she one of the strongest amongst the angels, she was able to interact with humans for the sole purpose of helping them find their soulmates. And no, she was not cupid.  Not really.  She was more like … a guiding force for people bound to each other by the red string of fate.  The Chinese got that part right about their belief in the heavens and what happens in the after life when it comes to certain roles of angelic beings.  Kara was sunshine, happiness, effervescence, and she was the very definition of light incarnate, she was effusively happy. Everyone who knew her, well every angel, who knew here thought of her as one of earth’s more adorable creatures: a puppy.  The angel she was closest to was definitely Alex, her sister figure, and they were thick as thieves.  Any time they had something important to do with any sign of danger, one could not be found without the other and they always had each other’s backs.
James, J’onn, Winn, Lucy, Eliza, and M’gann were also like her family amongst the angels she knew in heaven, but no one was as close to her as Alex was.  They were each other’s sisters in arms when they had to fight against any demons causing too much chaos, destruction, or tried to rise up to fight them.  Any time a demon insurrection was a possibility they were one of the many chosen to take care of it before it grew to the point of losing too many angels in the fight.  It hadn’t happened very frequently, but one of the prominent figures in the demon world currently was the wealthy Luthors.  They hid in plain sight amongst humans because they were such high-level, powerful demons they could control their less than human appearance.  Not only were they strong demons, one of the strongest demons masquerading as powerful, influential humans, they were extremely wealthy.  Currently, they were one of three known demons with CEO status over companies in National City.  Their own angel, Cat Grant as her human name was, had CatCo Worldwide Media as a way to keep an eye on their activities without them knowing she was one of them, though her blonde hair shining a certain way in sunlight wasn’t exactly human but her brisk demeanor wasn’t much what most people would think of angels. No, her employees probably thought she was a she-devil with how mean she was.  She was good enough to fool demons into thinking she wasn’t an angelic being. Cat Grant appeared as human as could be.
Right now, Maxwell Lord, Morgan Edge, and Lex Luthor were known for being the big players but Lena Luthor had stepped into the game in National City while her brother relocated to Metropolis instead, where Clark Kent, a renowned reporter had been planted to keep an eye on his movement.  For now, neither Cat Grant nor Clark Kent had given away to the fact that they were actually angels amongst humans keeping an eye on the demons yet.  It wasn’t hard to make identities for angels since they had agents of their own for that very purpose just as the demons did.  The angels did everything by the book though to make sure they didn’t just come out of nowhere and were found out by the demons they were watching unlike the demons and their seemingly abrupt rise to power.  No one really expected demons to do any better than these underhanded methods to get ahead after all.  It was expected with their nature.  But heaven had its own system and would never stoop that low.  No, they played by the rules and made sure that every transition was seamless.
Kara was chatting with Alex about the state of things where they were up above the clouds where most angels went to relax when they didn’t have an assignment or special mission. Of course, there were patches of heaven they could say was their personal space like a home but it was whatever made them happiest.  And time didn’t pass up here, not like it did in the human world.  For an angelic being, an hour in heaven was a day on earth and so time moved slowly for them.  A single day in heaven was nearly a month for humans and for them, thousands of years had passed and still they were no older than the day they came into existence. Time moved so slowly for them that mere seconds were hours on earth and sometimes that was a blessing and for Kara it was sometimes a curse instead.
“I’m so bored, Alex,” Kara whined, pouting at the other angel who laughed at her, amusement causing her lips to quirk up.  Being that she was a warrior angel, Alex was more prone to brooding and sarcasm since the warrior angels were more along the stoic type of angels, Kara being an exception since she also handled cases of love.  She tended to help guide people towards love so it wouldn’t make sense for her to be a dark stranger approaching someone about being brave and just going for it.  Now that would have them running for the hills screaming in terror.  Well, that was how Kara imagined things going if she approached humans with Alex’s special brand of broody badass warrior angel of freaking heaven.  Alex had merely scowled at her and Kara had laughed.
“That sounds more like a you problem than an us problem, Kara.  I don’t know what you expect me to do about you being bored when you could be making people fall in love with their soulmates instead on earth.”  Alex even rolled her eyes at Kara.  She rolled her eyes!  That was such a human thing to do honestly!
“I think you’ve been hanging around humans too much, Alex!  You even roll your eyes like human teenagers do to authority figures in their lives when they’re told to do something!” Kara said with far too much enthusiasm for Alex.
“And you are far too chipper even if you are an angel of love.”  Kara pouted at her and Alex smirked in response at her pouting lower lip. “What?  You know it’s true, Kara.”
Kara resisted the temptation to copy Alex and roll her eyes too.  “Whatever.” And then Kara made a face, crinkle that everyone loved to tease her about appearing in between her furrowed brows, “oh!  I feel a ping for help coming in!  See you in a few seconds!”  Every angel felt a different sensation for when they were being called upon by their charges for help.  Kara called it a ping because she liked to think of it as a sort of pulling sensation. So, ping for short.  Alex referred to her as more of a tug or demand for help because she was in charge of fighting off demons.  Particularly, she dealt with lower level demons usually. There were certain areas on earth considered neutral territory that both angels and demons frequented when half demons and partial demons who wanted nothing to do with their other side went. Often, those demons were considered lower level demons anyways and the establishment was actually run by a half demon, half human and their half angel, half human partner.  They didn’t allow disputes between any angels or demons who frequented regardless of how pure or impure their blood because it was neutral ground.  Those who fought were kicked out for the night and made to pay for each other’s drinks as their penance.  Kara would sometimes go there and drink things acceptable for angels that the half angel, Maggie Sawyer, would make.  Alex also had a thing for her even if she wouldn’t admit it despite how many times she’d managed to make Maggie think she didn’t like her with her mysterious silence when Maggie tried talking to her when she came in with Kara or as a group with their friends.  Samantha Arias was the other owner and had been friends with Maggie for a long time.
It made Kara a little curious that she was being directed to the bar.  Of course, the place was made so that no purely human being could enter the establishment, but that didn’t mean that outliers could exist.  Someone who had even a single drop of non-human blood should not be able to cross the threshold, however, there was the possibility of someone with just enough blood for it to consider them non-human enough to enter even if they had no idea that they weren’t anything but human.  Things like that did happen on occasion and memories were erased more often than not in those cases and they were specifically specially marked as human afterwards for their own protection as a precaution.  Kara had no power over those who had any blood that caused them to not be fully human, so her being pinged towards the bar was extremely odd.  It made no sense.  She could not guide non-humans into meeting soulmates.  In fact, Kara wasn’t sure if all half demons had souls.  Most did but rejected their souls and half humans sides in order to fully become a demon.  Those who didn’t reject their half human side retained a soul from their human halves.
Walking into the establishment she saw both women hard at work and greeted them both warmly.  “Hi Maggie, hello Sam!  I see you’re both hard at work already even though it looks like it might be afternoon in the human world from how bright it is outside. Though, we all know I’m not the best judge of earth time since it’s so hard for me to keep track!”  Kara gave them an almost conspiratorial look, even winking at them with some exaggeration.
“Yes, that we do know,” Maggie said with amusement showing clearly on her face.
Sam interjected with a friendly inquiry, “so, what brings you here today?  Is something wrong or are you here for … cupid business,” and Kara pouted at being called cupid.
“No!  I am not cupid because that little cherub, as cute as they are, is not the proper representation of someone with my profession!  We do not carry heart shaped arrows for goodness’ sake and how painful would it be if I went around terrorizing poor humans who cannot see me unless I make myself corporeal for them?  They’d wonder why someone was going around shooting those sharp arrows at their behinds!”
Outright laughing, Sam cleared her throat after a moment, completely immune to Kara’s pout.  “And this is exactly why I call you a cupid on purpose and you never fail to deliver. Honestly, it never becomes less amusing,” and this time she elbowed Maggie who wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding her own amusement.  They teamed up on her all of the time, only made worse when Alex was also around to join in with some smart quip that never failed to make Maggie give her a look. No matter how much Maggie flirted, Alex denied her possible interest with well placed comments about how she was half angel and was nice to everyone and possibly flirted with many people because she was also half human.  And no, she wasn’t flirting with Alex even if Kara was convinced she was.
“Well, whatever.  I don’t know why, but I was pinged and felt it from somewhere in here even though I can’t influence either demons or humans. Speaking of, we angels don’t even have red strings attached to us.  How did I receive a ping here if I can’t influence any angels or demons of any sort? I’m not sure if someone who is a quarter can be effected by me or not because I’ve never had a call for them either.” Kara looked around, trying to spot the target.
“It could be because my very human father has brought my half sister around and she is very human. She’s actually sitting at that table over there because she’s been making some googly eyes at the one half demon that way since she came in to have a quick drink.  They mostly came in to say hi but now she’s turned it into looking at him because he is definitely her type.  She hasn’t had the courage to say a word to him yet.”  Maggie smirked and Kara knew what was going to come out of her mouth before it even happened.  “Go do your job cupid and shoot that dangerously sharp arrow, Kara.”
Scowling but taking the out given anyways, Kara made her way over and smiled as she made herself invisible to humans but other angels, even ones with slightly diluted blood, could still see her somewhat though demons, no matter how diluted their blood, wouldn’t be able to see her or sense her if she was trying to completely conceal herself.  Mostly demons with strength near the level of high demons would be able to sense her presence in this state.  Some angels had been killed for recon missions because of that fact.
Approaching the woman, Kara was sure she looked like a beam of bright light to Maggie because of her class of angel, Kara sent out waves of energy towards the woman, encouraging her to approach the tall half demon who seemed the quiet, strong type. Octavia seemed to bolster from Kara’s energy and nodded to herself before approaching the man and introducing herself.  With her assignment completed, she walked back over to the two women.  “Look at that, ladies!  I got them talking and I think they’re going to be in love faster than you can say Kara is an awesome Angel of the Red String of Fate instead of that other, silly word, that doesn’t describe me … at all!”
They both burst out laughing, unable to contain themselves in the face of Kara being so freaking extra.  “Yeah, okay,” Sam said sardonically, barely managing through her chuckling.  “Making people fall in love or rather get on the path to falling in love isn’t your job.  Nope, I must be thinking about someone else’s work like … a dating website!”  Leave it to Sam to be just as extra when it came to her teasing Kara.
Even angels could be sarcastic, if Alex was anything to go by, “oh, look at you!  Having a laugh at my expense,” Kara rolled her eyes. “If there are days I ever wonder if you’re a half demon, well, today’s one of those days I don’t need to wonder when you have that flair up for the dramatics and tease me.”
Sam laughed at that good naturedly, used to Kara’s gentle teasing back at her.  “Well, I never need to wonder when the Angel of Love is going to be around!”  Maggie high fived Sam for that one, both of them tag teaming her not an unusual thing much to her slight chagrin.  However, she wouldn’t change her friendship with either woman for anything because not only did they amuse her endlessly, they were kind above all else and they didn’t let their other halves control their fates or outlook on life either.
Most with mixed blood were treated poorly in some way.  Those with half angel blood weren’t necessarily shunned, but looked upon with pity by those who were fully angelic beings for not being able to join them up in heaven because they were still partially human.  Humans needed to have their souls brought up to be part of the cycle of reincarnation.  Being half human meant that they had to live their extensively longer lives before they were allowed into the fold as an angel or be part of the process of reincarnation based on the lives they lead before their deaths.  As for half demons … there were not accepted by most demons.  Some humans were ignorant of the world of angels and demons and wouldn’t even bat an eye at the half demons living amongst them. And there were some humans with the power of having a sixth sense to detect when they were in the presence of either evil or great good and could detect even half demons despite their human half’s presence.  They were wary of those presences though not all rejected them entirely
It was a lonely and hard existence to not have the acceptance of the half of family that caused the disdain in the first place or only being accepted by very few members depending on whether they chose to shed their human half and become fully demon instead.  Sam wanted to change that stigma.  After having met Maggie because they were both wayward souls amongst their families in a way, they came up with the idea of the bar being a perfect safe haven for both of their common status as halflings.  Thus, Halfway to Heaven and Hell was born.  And as word spread about the neutral territory to mingle and find camaraderie in other wayward souls who experienced similar rejection and pain came to be.  Now it was the hotspot for almost all of the halflings to gather to commiserate in their miseries and triumphs without having to hide who they were and to find solace in others just like them.  The half angel, half humans started to join in after also catching wind of the place being run by one such as them and they found a harmony and understanding in the misunderstood half demons who gathered there.  It became cathartic for both halves to interact.  And now the bar was never short of customers and sometimes there was a need for a third bartender and a few waitresses extra to come in to help out on the busy weekends.  Neither women could be prouder of what they had achieved with their safe haven for others like them.  It was an amazing thing to see from the start until the expansion of now with slightly more floor space after a quick renovation with the bar made larger to accommodate the increase in business as well as a kitchen being added to add some food to the menu for those who were drinking too much.  The menu was made with food that would soak up some of the effects of alcohol, lean meats as well as heavy in carbs as needed.  Even the food was well liked by the patrons, including exotic items from the demon world.
Kara loved coming here to see the two women going on strong.  She also enjoyed seeing Alex’s lame attempts at indifference towards her obvious attraction to Maggie and how flustered she’d get when those dangerous dimples were flashing at her.  Yeah, Kara loved this bar and its two amazing owners so much.  Even when they teased her relentlessly.  “One of these days you’re going to get tired of teasing me. I swear.  Being half angel, you’d think your angelic side would tell you not to be so mean to me,” Kara said over dramatically, looking at Sam with the worst attempt at affront Maggie had ever seen in her life.
“Yeah, yeah.  Like I always tell you, if you really hated it so much you’d stop coming by when you don’t have some kind of mission going on. Just admit it, Kara.  You love us and how much crap we give you and don’t deny it!  I mean, you do choose to come back every time without fail.”  And Maggie wasn’t wrong.  Kara was a frequent flyer there even if she couldn’t really pay for drinks with actual currency since angels didn’t exactly have paying jobs.  Maggie and Sam didn’t mind giving the angels who visited free non-alcoholic beverages though.  More than anything, the angels came for the novelty since they didn’t actually need to eat or drink to survive.  The angels who had missions in the human world were able to eat and drink for the sole purpose of appearances and not raising suspicion that they were anything other than human.  It was a strange concept, but they at least didn’t eat or drink much and bought the bare minimum and only kept their fridge sparsely filled with food and drinks.  No need to waste things and resources when there were hungry, homeless humans out there on the streets.  In fact, most angels used the salaries that they earned while on their missions to feed the homeless or provide some kind of shelter or comfort for them.  This was their nature.  Healing, comfort, encouragement, and being pillars of strength to humans.  It was what they were driven to do.
“Okay, okay, so maybe I do enjoy your gross abuse of your human halves right to abuse me out of love and the fondness you have for me in your golden hearts.”  Sometimes Kara was a sarcastic angel.  It was either Alex’s influence or the fact that she was indeed a warrior angel as well despite her entirely too cheerful demeanor being an angel of love as well.  Either way, she had her moments of extreme sarcasm however unexpected it was every time she let it out like she did just now.
“Right, well it looks like you really got my sister’s love meter hyped up,” Maggie said, eyeing the way her sister was practically inhaling that guy’s breath with how close their faces were despite the incredible height difference between them. He was a giant.  Nearly a foot taller than Octavia.
“Would you look at that? My encouragement for them is blossoming beautifully!  Speaking of blossoming love, I feel another person seeking my presence but this one doesn’t seem to be a human related ping.  It was nice seeing you two!  You know I’ll be back for that delicious human drink you call ‘apple cider’ meant for fall weather!”  Kara had a particular sweet tooth despite not having to consume any food or beverages as an angel.  However, she had grown fond of the various drinks that Maggie metered out as safe for angelic consumption since alcohol was not only forbidden but harmful for angels to drink.  Something about them were toxic for angels and caused them to feel severe weakness and pain.  It could even kill them if they consumed a high enough dosage.  That was a discovery by an undercover angel trying to gather information from some lower level demons while pretending to be human and had been severely affected by a glass not cleaned out properly for all traces of alcohol and had quickly gone to throw up in the bathroom and discovering this weakness amongst their kind.  Some demons had gotten wind of that, though it wasn’t widely spread knowledge amongst the demon world, and it was now more dangerous for angels parading as humans. One sip was all it took for them to figure out which seemingly human beings were truly angels amongst them.
Kara gave a cheery wave goodbye and left with a flourish, red hearts appearing for several seconds in the wake of her movement where she was currently needed.  Every angel had varying aftereffects of them moving where they were needed depending on their roles.  Warrior angels were more of a flash of light when they showed themselves to trustworthy people.  The angels in charge of individuals or whole family’s had more of a sunny, warm glow. Angels charged with children tended to have a rather bubbly type of entrance, showing effervescence and hope in how they moved around.  The angels like Kara tended to have more of a range of pink to red hearts left in the wake of their departure and entrance but in Kara’s case it only happened when she was on a more amorous mission than if she was completing a mission as a warrior angel instead.  During those types of mission, she crackled like thunder and flashed like lightning because of how strong and powerful she was even amongst other warrior angels. She had been likened to Gabriel in terms of her prowess before.  Kara was very nearly indestructible even.  The most powerful angel in a long time.
Upon arriving where she felt her ping, she was more than surprised to see Cat waiting for her in her human appearance as the Media Queen Cat Grant.  “Ah, Kara.  I know that you are quite busy as bees as humans would say, but I have been tasked with keeping an eye on Lena Luthor from my perch as a human media mogul, as you know, but she is … rather elusive.”
“Yes, of course, Cat. I do remember that Clark has been watching Lex and you have been watching Lena individually.”  Kara nodded, confirming what she currently knew of the situation.
Cat nodded her head, “right, but I’ve been having trouble keeping an eye on her because she is … rather difficult to meet with.  I want you to pose as a junior reporter or at the very least try to see if you can get a job as her assistant instead somehow.  We can’t keep an eye on her if we can’t even get close to her to see what is going on in her office.  So far, I haven’t managed to do much of anything with her.  Lena is … rather problematic to get into touch with even with my army of reporters.  Getting her to grant interviews has been harder than me being mean to my employees Kara.”  Being angels did make it rather trying when attempting any type of unkind actions towards those who were considered their charges whether they were personally responsible for them or not.
Kara gave Cat a calculating look, “do you think she suspects you at all?”
Shaking her head, Cat replied, “no, I know it’s not that, Kara.  Rather, it is just her nature to be camera shy, I believe.  Even before her take over as the CEO of L-Corp for her branch she wasn’t one to be in the spotlight or interviewed for any reason. She doesn’t really use most social media accounts and only recently started using both Twitter and Instagram but only for promotions for her products and release dates for her products.  Those social media accounts are as old as how long she has been in office so … just about two months now.  In all of that time I haven’t been granted a single interview from her.  And in all fairness, no one else has been able to snag an interview with her.” Cat looked calculating as she looked at Kara.  “I’m thinking that if Clark and you posed as cousins and both request to interview her … or at least have Clark interview her since you won’t know what to do being new to the journalism world, she won’t be able to refuse a well-known reporter like him.”
“So … what you’re saying is you want me to work under you and try to get close to Lena?”  Kara asked, putting the pieces of what Cat was asking of her.
Giving Kara a grave look, Cat nodded.  “Yes, I have already asked the Creator for permission.  It was granted and the choice is yours, so will you help me Kara?” Kara nodded her assent and not long after she found herself standing right in front of Lena Luthor with her supposed cousin, Clark Kent, as the human named Kara Danvers.  And goodness gracious, she was not prepared for how absolutely stunning the woman was.  Being an angel meant that Kara had seen many beautiful things in her life but Lena absolutely was the most beautiful person she’d ever seen in her existence and she had seen some of the most beautiful humans ever created.  Lena was another level of gorgeous, so visually stunning Kara stuttered, became tongue-tied, when she was asked who she was by the ethereal woman.
“And who, exactly, are you?” she asked, moving around her desk to sit down in her chair elegantly. Even the way she moved flawlessly spoke of how graceful she was.  Kara had never felt this way before in her entire existence and that had been quite a few centuries going towards a millennia now.
“Um, uh, I’m uh, Kara Danvers.  I’m not exactly a reporter but I’m with CatCo Media,” she’d answered with as little grace as possible seeing as Lena possessed all of it, it seemed from this little interaction alone.
Clark gave her a strange look and Kara decisively ignored him as Lena responded to her.  “CatCo Media?  Aren’t they more of a … fashion outlet than a real news source these days?” she asked, looking slightly put-off by where Kara was currently employed.
“Well, I’m just really here to observe so … um, I’m not really going to write anything anyways,” Kara muttered.
“Anyways, isn’t it convenient that when the Venture was going down, you weren’t on that flight?” Clark asked, his question leading and unlike what a journalist would ask.
“Luckily, Superman was there to save the day,” Lena replied to him easily as Clark continued to give her a measuring look.
“Yes, quite lucky indeed,” he responded.
“Just ask me what you want to ask me because I’m quite busy with running my company, Mr. Kent,” Lena requested briskly, opening her notebook containing many notes.
“Were you involved in what happened, the part’s failure seeing as it came from one of your manufacturers?” he asked.
“Are you asking because of my last name or because it was one of my subsidiaries that made the part that failed?” she asked with a calculating look.
He rolled his eyes at her.  “I’m a reporter and I’m just trying to do my job by asking you these questions.” Clark had really gotten into his role as a reporter.  He had been doing this for quite some time after all, but still, he was quite efficient in his role.  For a brief moment, Kara wondered if angels were in charge of aliens and metahumans on this planet as well.  Obviously, some of her fellow angels helped guide other species in the galaxy far and wide, but aliens were a bit of a gray area in her opinion.  Some species just didn’t seem to gel with angelic guidance. Daxamites and Kryptonians being two examples.  With the Daxamites, they were resistant towards guidance.  Kryptonians thought that their form of justice had been perfected because no one was killed nor would they suffer in Fort Rozz in the Phantom Zone where no time passed.  It was impractical to try to influence or direct a species like that into certain decisions.  Some angels still tried as was tasked of them in spite of the difficulty.  It was in their nature to help others after all.
Lena gave them a sad smile, “even so, not all of us are the same just because of who our family is. I may be my brother’s sister and my father’s daughter, but I wasn’t always their family.  My father didn’t even take me in, claim me as his child, until he adopted me when I was ten.  He didn’t want to admit to what he did so now here I am, defending myself to reporters because of my brother’s behavior rather than my own merits.”  She paused as she looked at them both, “I’m just a woman trying to make a name for herself, can you understand that,” she asked, looking almost vulnerably.
Kara answered her, looking at her with understanding, “yes, I can understand that,” Kara said, looking at her with compassion.
The look Clark gave her showed he didn’t share her sentiments on the matter.  “Okay, well, I’ve got an article to write and you seem like a busy woman,” he said, giving her a tight smile.  As soon as they left the office, he rounded on Kara, “you’re not supposed to sympathize with demons, half blood or not.”
Kara scoffed, “we’re also not supposed to judge them before they’ve even done anything to warrant suspicion either!”
“Okay, we have things to do and appearances to make.  We’re supposed to be cousins on earth so let’s keep that charade going for now, Kara.” She was offended that he was supposed to be above judgment since that was the Creator’s role and not theirs as angels.  They only guided and helped humans as well as other creatures of the universe.  Both of the Kryptonians on this planet were forces of good and did so without prompt.  They were doing just fine on their own.  Kara sighed.  She wasn’t sure how everything was going to turn out, but she had her mission already laid out for her.

“You don’t know what Lena thinks,” she repeats, surprised that her voice is at all steady. Inside her chest, her heart races. “Stop pretending. You’re a demon. Demons lie.”
“Do we?” One of Lena’s hands presses over collarbones the supersuit, skin-tight as it is, does nothing to conceal. Travels lower, fingers dancing along the symbol emblazoned across Kara’s chest. Over Kara’s heart, it stops.
Lena’s hand. It’s Lena’s hand. Lena, standing closer than she’s ever been, their noses almost brushing. Lena, looking as though kissing her is the thing she wants most in the world.
It isn’t Lena. Even though the demon is wearing her face. It’s not her.
Kara has imagined the moment they’re now sharing for months, for years, forever. Not like this, though, with an external force puppeteering Lena’s body and intentions. Not without Lena having a say in the matter.
“She wants you; you know.” The demon tilts her head, and the sun sets carmine red across Lena’s features. The day dies in the reflection of her eyes, and for a moment they are not green, but gold vermillion. “I see it in her mind.”
“You’re bluffing.” Kara can’t help that her gaze dips to the inviting plush of Lena’s lips. Every time the demon speaks, the words skate, puffs of warm air, across her mouth. Urging her closer. “You have no idea what Lena wants!”
“Suppose you’re right.” The demon purrs into her ear. Her breath is hot and damp against Kara’s sweat-slicked skin. A full-bodied shiver rakes her frame, and the blood in her veins packs it up, southbound. “I can tell what you want easily enough. Your heart is loud.” The demon pauses, licking her lips. The flash of her pink tongue polarizes all of Kara’s attention. “I can hear it racing. I know you’re in love, Kara.”
“That’s—”
True. It’s true, damn her to wherever it is that demons come from.
“You can’t. Lena is human, she can’t hear other people’s hearts.”
“I’m not human, though.” The demon’s impish smile is almost cute on Lena’s face. Almost, but a little too sharp. She’s hungry, ravenous in ways Kara had only ever hoped Lena might be for her.
“I can hear your heart. I can smell your desire.” She drawls the latter out, and Kara shudders. “Why deny yourself, Kara? Why resist?” Her hands are on the move again. They roam Kara’s body shamelessly, with a familiarity Lena has never displayed, not in their most intimate moments, and when she makes no move to stop her, the demon’s leg slides up, settling between hers. “Why not just give in?”
There are plenty of reasons.
Kara can’t deny she and Lena have been orbiting each other for years. Like satellites. Like two celestial bodies on a collision course, the impact far into their future yet inevitable. Will she, won’t she? has become the mantra of their lives. A tentative dance — the steps of which were hard to learn. Kara has lost track, sort of. It’s no surprise, though, with Lena often in her space, with the two of them subconsciously (really?) finding new excuses just to touch. As though it’d be stranger if they made the effort to remain apart.
She has tried to keep the lines firmly in her sights. They’re friends, best friends, and that should be enough.
After all they’ve been through in the past year and a half — Myriad and Non Nocere and Lex — after nearly losing Lena for good more times than she cares to recall forced Kara to listen to what her heart’s been trying to tell her all along, just friends sounds like a bit of a stretch.

Supercorp phone call episode 11: “Myx in the Middle“
The off screen phone call Lena had with Kara after finding some answers in Newfoundland Ireland.
“Hello?” Kara's sounds tired and Lena wonders if she calculated the time difference wrong. It should only be half past 8 in National City.
“Hi,” Lena breathes. “How are you?”
“Lena!” All the exhaustion leaves Kara’s voice. She sounds happy to hear from her. “Good. I'm good. How are you? How is your search going?”
Lena smiles slightly, glad she called Kara after this eventful day. Andrea's support had helped her through it but now that she had her answers, she needed Kara’s help to understand what they meant for her.
“I'm okay,” Lena answers. “I found some answers.”
“That’s good,” Kara smiles. “Does that mean you'll be back soon?”
Lena starts playing with her braid. “I think so,” she answers. “I miss everyone.”
“We miss you too,” Kara replies immediately. “We could really use your help against Nyxly.”
“Nyxly?” Lena wonders, not having heard the name before.
“She was with me in the…“ Kara stops and Lena hears the sharp intake of breath before the blonde practically spits out, “Phantom Zone.”
“What happened? I haven’t watched the news yet,” Lena asks, worried.
“It’s okay. We’re okay,” Kara deflects. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Are you sure? I can get on a plane right away, if you need me,” Lena offers. If Kara wanted her there, she would leave immediately. She could come back here anytime.
“No, we’ve got it,” her friend assures her and Lena believes her. Kara first and foremost is a hero. If she needed Lena to save the city, Kara would already be standing here in front of her and pick her up to fly her back herself. Lena almost wishes she would. If just so that Kara can giver her a hug beforehand. “What about you? What did you learn about your mother?”
Lena starts fidgeting with the hem of her shirt but answers anyway. There are no more secrets between them. “Everybody hates her. She murdered someone.”
She hears Kara loud gasps over the line. “Lena, I’m sorry!”
Lena chuckles drily, “Don’t be. It’s only fitting. Other family’s have royals in their blood line and mine has murderers.”
“Lena…” her friend protests but Lena is already speaking again, “You know, I always wanted to be good. I wanted my dead mother to be proud of me and I wanted to prove that I was nothing like the Luthors. And now I learn that she is just like them,” Lena's voice breaks. “Where does that leave me?”
Lena knows she’s unfair towards her mother since she had only tried to help, but the anger and sadness eating her up make it hard to be rational. She had idolized her mother, had spent her life blaming herself for her death and trying to live in the image of her, trying to be good. She had never felt worthy of her love.
And now with the truth out in the open she realizes she is exactly like her, maybe even worse. She had also killed someone to protect another. Yes, Lex had almost killed half the population of the earth but in the moment Lena had pulled the trigger she hadn’t thought of that but of the people she wanted to protect. Kara. Supergirl.
“It leaves you as Lena Luthor, my best friend who has a heart bigger than anyone else. As Lena Luthor, a hero who saved the earth countless times and the lives of billions of people with it. As Lena Luthor, your own person, not defined by blood or family history but your own words and actions.” Kara’s voice is quiet and sincere and Lena can’t stop the tears from falling now. “And those are good, Lena. You are good. That fact doesn’t change anything about you.“
Lena presses a hand to her mouth to muffle her sobs but she is sure Kara can hear them anyway. She doesn’t tell Kara the other fact she has learned about her mother today; that she had allegedly been a witch and Lena has inherited “the spark”. Foremost because she doesn’t believe in it but also because she is sure Kara would.
Lena has seen countless supernatural things, starting with the alien that is her best friend and can fly and shoot lasers out of her eyes. Followed by the kryptonian worldkillers, one of which had resided inside her other friend’s body, a body that could change its whole genome whenever the worldkiller decided to come out. And lastly, to top it all, a whole new universe created by a wish (as Kara has told her) after the multiverse had collapsed.
There were some scientific explanations for parts of this. For example, Kara's alien DNA and the way the yellow sun granted her powers was something Lena could work with. However, larger parts she couldn’t quite explain. Yet, Lena used to emphasize. Things that seemed impossible 30 years ago are now used on a daily basis and phenomena that are unexplainable today will be understandable in the future, Lena is sure of that. Magic is just a term for science that isn’t comprehensible yet.
But then again, aliens with supernatural powers are a thing, why not humans?
Lena shakes her head at herself, wiping away the tears that wet her cheeks. If magic is real, she possesses it and all she has ever accomplished can be traced back to it, then who even is she?
“Where are you right now?” Kara asks into the silence. “I can fly over.”
“No,” Lena clears her throat. “I’ll be okay. National City needs you.”
And she means it. She will get to the bottom of this and she has to do it alone. This is her demon to face. Kara already has enough on her plate.
Her friend sighs quietly, accepting her choice, “Okay. But I’m here if you wanna talk. Anytime.”
“That goes for you too, Kara,” Lena reminds her, not able to keep the hint of worry out of her voice. Kara is used to playing strong and giving her all, but after everything she's been through, Lena hopes she'll finally allow herself to share her burdens, to take a step back and let the others help her. “I know I left right after you came back from… there. But I’m always here for you if you need me.”
“I know,” Kara breathes. A beat goes by until she adds, “I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” Lena replies quietly. “Say hello to the others for me.”
“I will,” Kara agrees. Her voice is hopeful when she asks, “I'll seen you soon?”
“Soon,” Lena promises.

Lena woke in the infirmary a week after the mission. Her head was pounding from a mixture of hitting it on the ground and the pain drugs Chip had been giving her. She opened her eyes and as the room around her came into focus, she searched for a familiar face. A pair of voices speaking softly across the room caught her attention. Keebo was talking to Chip as he showed her something on his datapad. Lena’s throat was dry from her unconscious state, preventing her from forming any words, so she made a coughing noise to grab their attention. Both of them turned to look at her. Keebo's face lit up, and she quickly made her way across the room to Lena's bedside.
"Master, you're awake!" she said a little too loudly, causing Lena to wince at the pain in her head.
Keebo’s joy faded a bit at Lena’s wince. She gave her an apologetic look and lowered her voice.
"I'm sorry, master. I'm glad to see you with your eyes open."
Chip followed Keebo across the room and handed Lena a glass of water. She gladly accepted it and drank half of it before reaching out to pat Keebo’s hand reassuringly.
“My head is killing me, but I’ll live.”
A tired sigh brought Lena’s attention back to the medic standing on the other side of her bed.
“You Jedi have a habit of getting yourselves blown up. Kix was over here helping me tend to you as he just went through the same thing with General Skywalker. We both wish that you would be more careful around explosions,” he said, a concerned expression twisting his features.
"I didn't try to get blown up. I was saving others from getting blown up," Lena said defensively.
“Now you sound like Anakin,” Keebo said, laughing softly.
Chip's eyes widened, and he shook his head in horror.
“Please don’t use him as an example for battle actions. Kix told me all about the injuries he has had to treat. I would like both of you to stay in one piece.”
Keebo gestured at her arm sling with her unhurt arm. “This wasn’t my fault. Ahsoka landed on me. I would have gotten away with a few scrapes otherwise.”
Lena's eyes narrowed in concern at her apprentice. She had been hurt fighting Dooku when Lena had been knocked down by his initial attack. When she let herself be weakened, people had been injured. She needed to get over her fear of Dooku and focus on defeating him, before she got someone killed by freezing up.
Chip seemed to notice her internal distress. He dismissed Keebo, telling her that Lena needed to rest. Once her apprentice was out of the room, he pinned her with a pitying look.
"It isn't your fault that you are scared of him, Lena."
Lena rolled her eyes, trying to brush away his concern, inwardly cursing his intuitive nature.
"Sometimes, I think you can read my mind," she said.
“No, I just know you struggle with it. You have since you found out what he did when you were a child, and his need to eliminate you as an adult has increased it.”
Lena sighed. She knew he was right. Still, she needed to control her fear. Fear was not something that Jedi were supposed to let consume them. Fear led to anger, which according to Master Yoda, eventually led to the dark side.
“It is something I need to overcome. Keebo and my men are my responsibility. Dooku is one of the prominent leaders of the organization we fight against, so he is everywhere. I will not allow others to suffer because of my trauma.”
“Everyone has their demons, even the Jedi. To be afraid is to be human,” Chip said, moving away from her bed.
Lena thought about his words. To be afraid was to be human. Feeling anything was part of being alive. Fear, sadness, joy, and even love. She had trained her entire life to keep her feelings in check and to not let them consume her. If she let them get out of her control, it could be dangerous. Lena settled into her bed and closed her eyes to rest, Chip's words present in her mind.
Tumblr media
Another week passed before Chip gave Lena the go-ahead to return to duty. Keebo was still out of combat due to her broken arm, but her battalion of men was still on the planet assisting the 501st under Blaze's leadership. Lena was wary of returning to battle so soon, but leaving such a large amount of droids for Anakin and Ahsoka to deal with wasn't fair. Once Chip had officially cleared her, Lena donned her Jedi robes again. Her long hair had been down for her infirmary stay, so she was glad to put it back in her braided bun. Once her bun and braid were secure, she felt more like herself. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she was satisfied with her appearance. She clipped her lightsaber onto her belt and left her quarters, heading for the hangar.
Lena climbed into her purple and gray Starfighter and started the engine. Then, getting the signal from the hangar attendant, she took off and left the cruiser, heading for the planet below. Entering the coordinates that Admiral Yularen had passed off to her, she flew towards the Republic base camp on the surface. Once she had landed and exited her Starfighter, she heard someone calling her name. She turned to see Anakin walking towards her.
“I wasn’t expecting you back so soon,” he said, a look of concern crossing his face.
"Chip cleared me, and since Keebo is out of the action, I figured you could use some more help."
Anakin glanced around, shrugging. “I mean, we’re doing alright, but I guess some extra help wouldn’t hurt.”
Lena looked at him in disbelief, shaking her head at his attempt at joking. She pushed past him to move into the camp.
“How have things been going?” she asked. “I hope my men have been helpful.”
Anakin walked beside her, minimizing his strides to keep pace with her smaller ones. He gestured to the different groups of clones around the camp. The purple and blue were intermixed, showing their brotherhood.
“The 501st and 394th seem to work well together. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Blaze and Rex. They seem to have been butting heads a lot. Well, I mean Blaze talks constantly, and Rex stews in silence, if you can call that butting heads."
Lena laughed. She hadn’t expected Blaze and Rex to get along smoothly. Rex seemed to have a very different personality than the one her Commander had developed in the time she had known him. If they had met at the beginning of the war, they likely would have gotten along like a house on fire. She just hoped Blaze hadn’t driven him crazy.
Lena and Anakin reached the command tent and entered to find precisely what Anakin had been talking about. Blaze, Rex, and Ahsoka were all standing around a holo map of the area around them. Blaze and Rex were vehemently disagreeing about something on the map. Ahsoka stood with her arms crossed over her chest, rolling her eyes at the two men next to her.
"Come on, boys, can't you get along long enough for me to heal?" Lena said, interrupting the argument.
All three people turned at the sound of her voice, various expressions covering their faces. Ahsoka's face lit up in excitement, and Blaze's anger slipped into amusement at her words.
“Lena! You’re back!” Ahsoka let out, moving around the table to hug her.
"It's good to see you on your feet again, General," Blaze said from his position next to Rex.
Lena raised an eyebrow at him. “General? Blaze, I think you’ve spent too much time around Rex.”
Blaze shrugged at his verbal mishap, eliciting a smile from Lena. She turned her attention to Rex and was surprised to see a mixture of emotions covering his face. In the short time she had known him, he always seemed stoic and composed. Now she was seeing guilt and something else she couldn’t quite decipher.
“Rex. I’m glad you and Ahsoka weren’t injured in the explosion,” she said, trying to break the ice.
Rex simply nodded in response, the guilt covering his expression fully. Lena was unsure what was going through his head, but decided not to push it. Instead, she moved to stand next to Blaze and looked at the map in front of her.
"So, what were you two arguing about when I came in here?"
Tumblr media
Rex hadn't expected Lena to return, especially not so soon. He hadn't finished wrestling with the overwhelming guilt in his head and wasn't ready to face her quite yet. When she had spoken to him, he had only silence for her in response. He had seen the look of confusion on her face and the disappointment in Ahsoka's. Once they had finally settled on the next move against the Seppies, everyone else had cleared out of the tent, leaving him alone with Ahsoka.
"Rex, what is your problem?" she asked with a hint of anger in her voice. "Lena was hurt saving you, and the only thing you give her when she returns is silence? I thought you liked her."
Rex sighed and walked away without replying to the young Togruta. He could feel the curiosity and annoyance rolling off her, and he had had enough arguing today.
"Just leave it alone, kid. It’s not worth dwelling on,” he muttered as he left the tent.
But dwelling on it was precisely what Rex had been doing for the past two weeks. He didn't know if it was his physical reaction to Lena that had increased his guilt tenfold or if he was angry at himself for not noticing the danger himself. He had been debating between the two since he saw her unconscious form in Blaze's arms. He was at war with himself. It was making him unfocused. At least battle gave him something else to think about.
As Rex rounded the corner of tents in his path to his own, he bumped into someone. Reaching out to stop the person from falling over from the force of the impact, Rex found his arms around the very woman he was anguishing over.
“General! I’m sorry about that,” he said, steadying her on her feet.
Lena looked up and gave him a small smile. “No harm. I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
Rex was frozen in place, his hands still gripping Lena's arms. Even through his gloves and her clothing, Rex could feel the warmth of her skin. Ironically, the sensation had the opposite effect on him, sending a shiver down his spine. He quickly released her and took a step back.
“I should have been more aware of my surroundings,” he said firmly.
Lena's smile faded, causing a pang in his heart. His attempt at being professional was coming across as too harsh. If he kept this up, he wouldn't have to worry about acting on his feelings, as she would probably start to dislike him.
Lena moved to walk around him, and Rex felt the overwhelming urge to pull her to him again. He clenched his hands at his sides and turned to watch her walk away. As a last-ditch effort to remedy his behavior, he called out to her.
“Lena?”
She turned back to look at him, waiting for him to continue.
“Welcome back.”
Lena’s smile returned, erasing the twinge he had felt before.
"Thank you, Rex."
She gave him a small wave before turning and continuing on her way. Rex flexed his hands as he watched her until she was out of sight. If he was going to continue to keep his composure, he needed to avoid touching her again. The small amount of contact from simply keeping her from falling had been overwhelming. If it happened again, he would be a lost cause.

Alright, now that the initial testing and cleanup is done lets do this properly :
Tumblr media
Do you want to see what happens when Iced overdoses on basic RPG tropes and then twists them to suit new purposes?  Do you want to join a fox girl, slime, succubus, and one poor human on a violent road trip?  Do you want to learn a new elemental system that lets you poison zombies?  Then I’ve got a demo for you!
https://icedfairy.itch.io/twilight-judgment
Tumblr media
As stated before the idea was to stop fighting the system and let my writing lead the way.  No 100 lines of code to rewrite entire systems.  Still I’ve done a fair amount of work to make sure the gameplay is similarly interesting, or at least not boring.  Consider it an Iced story where you get to break the antagonists faces.
For those on the fence here’s some more detail
Plot : Something is obviously broken in heaven.  The dead are rising to kill the living instead of politely reincarnating, and the gods aren’t answering calls.  As the primary troubleshooter for the gods, Foxxi has been tasked to gather the materials needed to enter the heavens and fix matters.
Tumblr media
Foxxi Eldalai - The current Shrine Guardian.  One of the rare fox kin, Foxxi is a carefree girl who enjoys her relaxed life as a troubleshooter for the gods.  Unfortunately, there’s a lot more trouble then usual right now.  Still she tries to stay upbeat.  She’s almost as good as she thinks she is, and is quick to adapt to new situations.
Way too quick to resort to ritual magic.
Tumblr media
Emi : A slimegirl wizard, she spends more of her time smiling, though when she’s angry that almost makes things worse.  She’s been Foxxi’s friend and bodyguard since childhood, and loves to tease the fox girl.  She approaches almost everything with a flippant air, though her emotions boil just as hot as anyone else’s.
Probably has eaten half the random encounters after the battle.
Tumblr media
Nama : A demon of lust, otherwise known as a succubus.  Foxxi summoned her to act as a healer.  While she’s in no way shape or form a good person, she’s not as brutal or twisted as other demonkin.  In fact if given the option she’s very happy to cooperate to get what she wants.
Secretly finds the tacky succubus outfits people insist on her wearing hillarious.
Tumblr media
Lena : While technically a mercenary, Lena fights with the honor and courage of any knight.  A veteran of many battles, she relies purely on skill with a spear instead of fancy magic techniques.  Years of war have left her a quiet and reserved woman, but deep down she’s an optimist.
Big fan of magical scar removal.  “Traces of old wounds just show where to stab.”
Reasonable questions :
How long is the demo?  Up to four hours if you take your time.  I can burn through in less then one because I know what I’m doing.
Will this get finished?  I’m planning on keeping it limited to 7 dungeons, of which one is done.  So probably!  Depend on interest of course but my brain is locked on.
How tough / grindy is it?  It’s hard for me to say how tough it is, because I know what to do.  I did try to make sure you didn’t need to grind.
Will you get better tilesets and stop using the character builder for sprites?  Maybe if there’s a huge interest.  Artists don’t grow on trees though, even if you have money to pay them.
Anyway hopefully that’s a much more convincing pitch.  If you wanna take a stab here’s the new improved and even more polished version.  This time on a system where I can actually see if people downloaded it!

supercorp promt lena going over all the times kara/supergirl saved her life and how many ways shed be dead without her and realizing all the times kara/supergirl stood up for her/defended her in public and private and how she would have been treated like a luthor and put in jail without her help and just coming to the realization that kara didnt use her like she said she did because kara would not do all that if she had been using her and just all around having a big impact realization about it
Hello and thank you, Anon! This will be a challenge because I have seen very little of the show since season 3 and none of the last season whatsoever. All my knowledge comes from Tumblr posts. And because I have strong opinions of how the reveal was handled by both canon and part of fandom. So I hope it still meets your expectations.
You can read it in AO3 if you rather.
--------------------------------
Lena’s hand trembles as she reaches for the bottle, so she clenches it in a tight fist and tries to take a deep breath to calm her mounting anxiety, though it doesn’t seem to have any effect. A sense of paranoia has her focusing her attention on the office door, expecting to hear the thunderous sound of trained boots rushing to get her, but nothing meets her ears. She sighs and tries to breathe deeper again. Then chances a look over her left shoulder at the balcony door, wide open, like a dare... or an invitation. If she turns completely, she’d be facing her desk, and on top of it lays Myriad, inactive. She knows she should have gone to Lex’s lair, where Hope in Eve’s body awaits to complete the mission. Would she be worried Lena hasn’t arrived? Confused?
“But, Miss Luthor, I am not your friend.” Lena scoffs at the memory and snatches the bottle and a glass.
“Neither was the person whose face you’re wearing, so I guess the integration was flawless.”
She drains the first glass of whiskey entirely in the first gulp and sits heavily on her pristine white couch. Mistake. There, on the floor, is the framed, cracked picture showing her smiling face, impossibly close to Kara’s own radiant expression. A stark difference to the one she was wearing when Lena left her in an iced kryptonite cell, inside her piece of home away from home: terrified, devastated. Some call it karma... Others call it revenge.
“Lena, please.”
Lena sighs again and closes her eyes after pouring a second glass, that she holds loosely in her right hand. Both her elbows rest on her knees, and her head hangs low. Was Kara scared for National City, the world? Or was she afraid Lena’s trap would kill her?
“Are you going to kill me now?”
Was she scared of Lena or for Lena? No doubt the DEO has a dark, hidden dungeon waiting just for her, where they can lock her in isolation, like her demented brother was before he escaped and wrecked havoc. Before she killed him... Of course Kara would be fine. Lena made sure the trap was safe. That the kryptonite was non-lethal. She made sure of it. It’s still an alien radioactive substance, though. No, no, she made sure. She studied Lex’s journals exhaustively. She’s working for good.
“I’m not a villain. You shouldn’t have treated me like one.”
So why does it feel like she’s doing something wrong? Non Nocere was conceived to remove one of humanity’s biggest flaws, to remove one of the primary reasons for suffering. She’s doing it for the greater good. She’s doing a good thing. So, why is she here and not finishing it up? Maybe because deep down she knows that, no matter how good her intentions, this is not the way, deceiving everyone to achieve her goal.-Using Kara. -Like she used me! -Did she? -Yes! She lied for years! -Do you realize you’re trying to convince yourself of this?
Lena’s whole head hurts from how hard she’s clenching her jaw. Kara lied for years. A Super and a Luthor. She must have been using her, why else would she have lied for so long? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and all that. The Luthor way. Making sure Lena walked the line. Saving your life, protecting you. Enough! Lena shakes her head again, harder, to silence the voice inside. It works, so she closes her eyes and sighs.
Then images start flashing: A helicopter spinning out of control towards the ground. The pilot unconscious, limp next to her. Bracing for a certain death that never comes.
“You’re safe now.”
Feeling suddenly sick. Knowing too late that something’s wrong with the coffee. Someone has posioned her and succeded at it. She clinging to consciousness, barely, dreaming of Kara saving her. Taking her in her arms and flying her up to safety.
“You were flying, and you were carrying me.”
Lena determined to protect Kara as they both face Mercy inside L Corp. They somehow managed to avoid the rain of bullets from the intruders and are now trapped in the labs with the armed enemy. But Lena’s armed too. She’l protect Kara, who seems eager to leave, which confuses Lena, she’s seen Kara square up to people before, especially to stand up for Lena. But she let’s her leave, she’ll be safer anyway. And then Supergirl is there, neutralizing Mercy in the blink of an eye.
“The Luthor name doesn’t deserve Lena.”
A half machine half man monstrosity trying to storm her newly rebranded company. She, braving an attempt at defense. An enormous metallic representation of said rebranding flying towards her, promising a sure, painful and fast death. She, bracing for the impact that never comes. Looking through her hands to see the Girl of Steel stumbling from the force of protecting Lena from it.
“Get out of here.”
She confronting Edge, who poisoned children in an attempt at getting back to Lena. She almost going through with killing him. Instead getting knocked out and strapped onto a doomed plane. Not only is she going to die, all her work to be good would be erased, her reputation. But, once more, it doesn’t come.
“No, I’m not going to drop you!”
Kara, sweet and dorky, suddenly stony facing Detective Sawyer, who’s come to take Lena into custody. Conviction in her blue eyes, sure of Lena’s innocence. Willing to face off with her sister’s girlfriend over it. Lena shocked at the protective display.
“Hold on, Maggie. Slow down. Just, let her explain.”
Supergirl trying to warn her of her mother’s terrorist endeavors. Not as in warning Lena to stir clear of it. Not as in warning her that she’s being watched. But as if to telling her to be careful, that she may be in danger. As if telling her Supergirl herself will protect her, if she’d let her.
“Be your own hero.”
She deliberatedly jumping off a cliff, after facing off with a terrorist organization. Pushing the buttom on the watch Kara gave her, to protect her, alway. With not a trace of doubt in her system that Kara would come to her rescue. Feeling the power of the lasers coming out of Kara’s eyes.
“What was that?”
Lena falling from her office balcony, thinking of her fear of heights, her fear of flying. Thinking of Kara listening to her falling to her death after a couple of her mother’s goons accidentally toppled her. Clutching to Kara’s voice as the last thing she hears. Until arms of steel catch her and making it feel like falling onto a cloud. Freezing breath rushing past her face, and still feeling warm.
“Dropped something?”
“I was having coffee with Kara Danvers.”
Lena, flanked by the Danvers Sisters coming into a dream realm to confront Sam’s demons. A monster wearing Sam’s face attacking them, lifting Lena by the neck, threateing to break it.
“Let her go! Take me, take me instead, please!”
Being kidnapped onto an alien ship. And invader alien ship. Almost forced to get married, to Kara’s boyfriend, no less. Getting rescued by Supergirl. Joining forces with her mom, who had previously joined forces with Supergirl, both putting their difference aside to save Lena. Creating a device that would eradicate the invading threat, but that included Kara’s love. Kara, devastated, but reassuring Lena that it was not her fault, that she did what she had to.
“Lena, you helped Supergirl save the world.”
Kidnapped by her mother, after being framed. Used to get to Lex’s arsenal of anti-alien weaponry. Supergirl crashing the site, knowingly risking her safety with Lilian, Metallo and Cyborg Superman surrounded by weapons designed to defeat a Kryptonian. Supergirl on her knees, in pain. Warning them of the risk of Metallo’s unstable kryptonite’s core. A potential explosion that could kill her. And still staying to carry Lena out of there, just in the nick of time.
“Kara Danvers believes in you.”
“You’re good, Lena.”
“So, my office is overflown with flowers.”
“That’s what friends are for.”
“I’ve never had friends like you.”
“I trust you.”
“Supergirl might have saved me. But you, Kara Danvers, you are my hero.”
Lena’s gasping, just now realizes she’s crying. What have I done? But there’s no time to think about it further. A crash coming from her balcony captures her attention, and she stands, drink still in hand, tears still rolling down her face. Supergirl struggles to keep upright: she’s pale, panting. Her eyes, as wild as her hair, searching her surroundings, until they find Lena. And it’s palpable how the relief fills Kara. Her shoulders sag and her eyes close.
“Lena.”
But Lena has not gotten over Supergirl, Kara’s state. And then she sees her hands. There’s blood and bruises there. There’s blood on Kara’s hands. Lena can’t take her eyes of the damaged limbs. She takes a couple of steps towards the hero.
“You’re bleeding.”
Kara seems to not have heard her. She looks at Myriad and lingers there. As if she’s trying to see through it. But can’t. She’s helping herself stay standing by bracing one shoulder on the balcony door. Turns to Lena again.
“Please, Lena. Don’t do this. Please.”
“Kara, you’re bleeding.”
“If you do this, Lena, if you do this there’s no going back.”
“Why are you bleeding?”
“Not like, for humanity. We’d be able to fix that. We’ve done it before. With Myriad. But for you, Lena. You’ll be devastated when your anger subsides.”
“Kara.”
“Please, Lena, you’ve worked so hard to leave your family’s bad name behind. It’ll be so much harder to come back if you do this.”
“Kara, stop.”
“No, no. You gotta listen. You can’t do this! It will hurt you!”
“Kara. You are bleeding!”
“What?” And finally, she looks down. At her hands. “Oh.”
Lena closes the distance between them. Takes Kara’s hands in hers. Inspects the damage. Her mind racing to understand what she’s seeing. Kara is Supergirl, she should not be bleeding. Now Lena can see that Kara is also shivering. From exertion or cold, Lena isn’t sure. Both, maybe. She’s still catching her breath.
“You punched your way out.” She says this and looks up at Kara’s face, she knows her eyes are wide with shock and her mouth is, too. A little. Lilian would be appalled. “Kara, why? The trap would have turned off in a couple of hours. I would never...”
“I know. I know but... it was so tight in there.”
“Tight?”
“The space was so small.”
“Oh. Oh! You’re... Are you claustrophobic?” Oh, no. No.
Kara shrugs, looks sideways at the desk. At Myriad. But she’s not trying to contain Lena, to restrain her. She’s not rushing to take Myriad, either. She’s trusting Lena to do listen, to do what’s right.
“Why? Kara why didn’t you... I didn’t know. I didn’t know if I would have. I would’ve not put you in there,”
“We both did things. Lena, I promise. I’ve only lied about my secret identity. And I know there’s no excuse, but I have plenty. And I’ll tell you all of them when you’re ready to hear them. But, please, you have to believe me: I never lied about us. I swear I was not using you. You must believe me, Lena, please!”
“I think I do, now. I’m... I’m still hurt and angry. But, I know. I realize you didn’t need to work so hard on protecting me. From experience, I know that masks fall faster than that. I was just... Hearing i from Lex, while I killed him was overpowering.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I gave him the chance to take that away from us. I’m sorry that yet again I was robbed of the opportunity to tell someone I love. And that it gave him such a way to hurt you. I’m sorry that it made you feel used and unloved. I love you Lena. I love you.”
Lena’s vision is blurry with tears. And it gets worse when Kara’s words paint a smile on Lena’s face. At some point she has dragged Kara to the couch, have them both sat down, and she’s yet to let go of the hero’s bruised hands.
“You do?”
“I do. Of course I do. I love you. I’d say it as much as you’d need.”
“Hold on.”
Lena stands despite Kara’s throughly confused expression. She raches for the first aid kit in the bathroom and sits back next to Kara. Starts tending to the wonds, a little worried that hey don’t seem to be healing by themselves. But not wanting to draw attention to it. Kara watches her work in silence, with the occasional flinch or hiss of pain.
“You may want to reconsider your offer. I don’t think I’ll ever tired of you saying it.”
Kara looks lost for a second, until her face clears of all confusion. She smiles.
“I don’t have a problem with that.”
“I’m going to have to work on myself and my issues, though. Before we can really start to explore our relationship. In whichever form you’re willing to have it.”
“I’ll have to work on my issues, too. And we’ll work together on our relationship. I’ll have whatever you’rewilling to give me.”
And Lena almost says I’ll give you everything out loud. She finishes up tending to Kara’s wounds. And sighs.
“When should I expect the DEO to come and get me?” Kara frowns at her.
“Why would they come and get you?”
“I imagine Alex wants my head after wha I did?”
“Ales doesn’t know.” But Lena’s is too shocked to respond. “We’ll go and stop everything about the Non Nocere project. You’ll get Hope out of Eve, and we’ll deliver her to the authorities. Then we’ll all work together to stop Leviathan. Then, maybe after we worked through our stuff anough, we can tell the story as a funny story.”
“There’s not one funny thing about what’s happened.” Lena deadpans, because...
“I’m sure I can make it funny. I’m charming like that.” And Lena loves her cocky side. Lena loves all of her sides, she’s come to realize.
“Yes, you’re hilarious.”
Kara’s phone goes off before she can sass back and Lena can hear Alex voice through the speaker.
“Kara, finally. I was getting worried I couldn’t reach you or Lena.”
“We’re ok.” She says while holding her eyes to Lena’s. “I told her.” There’s a sigh on the other end of the call. Not dissapointed, nor angry. Just a sigh.
“Ok. I know you’ve wanted to tell her for a while. And I know you feel like your secret affects more than just you, Kara. But it’s ultimately yours to share. We’ve all have done it for you enough times. I also know you’re worried about the DEO trapping Lena with the excuse of confidentiality. But I promise you I won’t let that happen. How did she take it?”
“Well... I mean, she’s hurt. And I think we’re goin to have to work that out. But...” She let’s the sentence hang for a second, looking at Lena, who nods. “But, we’ll be all right.”
“I know you guys will. Now, enough sentimentality. What about the plan?”
“We found Eve, we’re about to intercept her and bringing her into cosudy. Then we can start working on the rest of the bad guys.”
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll see you guys soon. Would you need back-up?”
“No, we’ve got it.” She ends the call and stands, walking towards the balcony. Lena stays put, an eyebrow lifting in amussement.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“To get Eve? Hope? Both?”
“We’re not flying, Kara. You can barely walk.” She can see Kara about to argue, so she activates the portal and gestures to it, expectantly.  “Shall we?”
“Show-off.” Kara grumbles as she walks through it and Lena and her laugh follow her. Yes, they’ll be all right.

Enemies: F.O.W.L, Helios Mental Asylum, Jim Starling/Negaduck, Fearsome Four
Appearance:
Morgana is a taller than average, black-haired duck. She wears a cherry red sleeveless jumpsuit under a blood red jacket pinned by a gold button. One jacket sleeve covers her right arm, wrapping around her middle finger, while the other sleeve is elbow length. Attached to her hips is a long dark red cape that drags on the floor. A tattered drape connects to her forefinger. To match her elegant heels, Morgana wears shiny, black lipstick. On the small of her back is the symbol of Demogorgana, her birthmark. The gray streaks in her hair are pinned back.
Personality:
Morgana is a quiet, solemn sorceress. Due to the constant bullying in her childhood, she has a pessimistic view in life and has trust issues. But, once you’ve gained it, she’ll be kinder and more open. Around strangers, she is quiet and willing to give them the cold shoulder. Lover of horror, Morgana enjoys scaring people-sneaky up on people was her favorite- and prefers to make a spooky entrance. She can be aggressive and will usually not hesitate to attack, especially if she is judged for her magic. Her anger can lead her to be vengeful; an example being her wish to hurt the bullies who hurt her brother.
Since joining the Justice Ducks and being somewhat part of the Mallard-Mcquack family, Morgana became more level-headed and playful. Smiles came easier and she finally felt loved. Although passive, she is not afraid to be sassy, though it’s more playful towards her friends. Patience is Morgana’s strong point; she was willing to build her magic prowess enough to escape from the asylum.
Biography:
Born from an affair with her mom and Demogorgon, Morgana is cursed with chaos magic and the Demogorgon symbol as a birthmark. She was bullied for her uncontrollable magic and weird hobbies for a child like her love for witchcraft and horror. The bullying got worse once she and her brother moved with her uncle to his heavily conservative county. It grew from verbal to physical abuse quickly. Her normal brother was bullied as well for being associated with her, something that hurts her more than being harassed herself. The abuse and her uncle’s unconcerned behavior convinced her to run away. But, before she could leave, a horrifying event occurred. This left Morgana to be sentenced to an asylum for the rest of her life.

Skills & Abilities:
-Chaos Magic: This type of magic allows her to absorb the chaotic forces in the universe and warp reality. Morgana has enough power to destroy the cosmos, though the energy needed would leave her coma.
-Superhuman Strength: Being half-Demogorgon makes her more durable and stronger than a regular person.
-Psionics: this ability allows her to project her energy as attacks like energy blasts, create forcefields, and fly.
-Mental Manipulation: Morgana can manipulate her victim’s minds to see their worst fears, control their actions, and read minds.
-Spellcasting: she used to cast spells in her own magic language but grew out of the more she practiced. Now able to cast spells without help.
Family:
Cephas Mcawber:
Being her baby brother, Morgana is very protective of him. Her protectiveness grew once her bullies started terrorizing him as well. She was there to comfort him when their parents were killed and promised to be there for him.
Wanting to keep her promise, Morgana asked Cephas if he wanted to run away with her. Though he decided to stay.
Hector Mcawber:
Morgana and her uncle weren’t close. He seemed unconcerned about the bullying she endured. Hector openly favored Cephas since, unlike Morg, he was related by blood. Most of the time, Morgana was left to take care of herself. The treatment was similar to the kind she got from her stepfather.
Her neutrality towards her uncle soon turned to disdain when he left her in the asylum’s care.
Mr. Mcawber:
Her stepfather tried to love Morgana but could only see her as a reminder of his wife’s betrayal. He didn’t treat her badly nor show much love for her. He died alongside his wife in a car crash.
Mrs. Mcawber:
Although she loves her mom, Morgana is bitter towards her mom for getting into an affair with a Demogorgon. They didn’t have much of a relationship since her mom died when she was seven.
Friends:
Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck:
Drake is Morgana’s good friend and teammate.
At first, due to a huge misunderstanding and DW’s ego blinding him, they viewed each other as enemies. Drake’s arrogance annoyed Morgana to no-end and would respond to him with sassy quips. His view of Morgana was of a criminal and danger to society because his first S.H.U.S.H was to recapture her for the asylum.
Once they got to know each other, Drake and Morgana grew to respect and sympathize one another for their strength and hard pasts. In the end, Drake let her go into hiding and advocated for her innocence.
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera/Gizmoduck:
Fenton and Morgana are friends and teammates.
Alongside Darkwing, Gizmoduck was assigned to recapture Morgana. He was more sympathetic towards her when noticing her unwillingness to fight. There were many times he suggested talking to Morgana. He also advocated for her innocence once learning the truth.
Morgana didn’t think much of Fenton in the beginning, though finding him quite cute. She was grateful towards him and DW for believing her and saw them as her first true friends.
Launchpad Mcquack:
Launchpad didn’t meet Morgana until after DW and Fenton’s mission. He liked her and found her magic fun to see.
Morgana found LP’s naivety and sweet nature comforting because of how much he reminded her of Cephas. Whenever visiting the Mallard-Mcquack household, Morgana would occasionally scare Launchpad-his easy to scare attitude was funny to her. Though she would always make up for it by offering her delicious brownies.
Gosalyn Waddlemeyer:
Like LP, Gos met Morgana later on. They clicked instantly due to their love of horror movies and Gos’ fascination with magic. It didn’t take much time for Morg to be appointed as Gosalyn’s babysitter. They would watch horror movies and plan scary pranks to frighten Drake and LP. The girls would also scheme ideas on how to get Gos’ fathers to confess their feelings. They usually pep talk Drake into confessing his feelings-with no avail. Their Drake’s wingwomen.
Lena Sabrewing/de Spell:
Wanting to train her magic, Lena asked Morgana to teach her.
They have a healthy teacher-student relationship with Morg helping to grow Lena’s power enough, so she didn’t have to cast some spells with incantations. There are times the girls use their magic to have fun and play pranks. Gos usually joins them, and is the mastermind of their schemes.
Morgana holds a lot of respect for Lena based on her strength to move on from the past. There are moments when she sees herself in Lena-something that comforts, yet scares her.
Trivia:
-She was inspired by Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff, Alphaba from Wicked, and Morticia Addams.
-Her VA, Laura Bailey, starred in a dark fantasy anime called Soul Eater.
-Unlike her previous incarnation, Morgana’s feet are shown.
-Her power is strong enough to rival Magica.
-She is one of the tallest characters in the ’17 universe.

Let me clear some things up. I’ve decided to have a couple of different versions of b!d. You have the alien version which is who I’m basing my December series on. You also have human b!d which who my fic ‘bullied’ is based on. I also have a b!d series I’m working on but I don’t know if I’m going to post that.
Here is a sneak peek of that

In the living room of a rundown apartment in National City, sitting on the couch, there was Amayah as well as her boyfriend Brandon. Her 3 month old was in a hand-me-down car seat that was placed on the floor.
Amayah and Brandon were both young; barely 24. The former got pregnant from her previous boyfriend. The father decided to not stick around and dipped as soon as he got the news.
The young woman met Brandon online when she was about 2 and a half months along. The two clicked and had been chatting up a storm. It was always late night, good morning, and good night texts between the two. After months of online conversations, they met in person. At the time, her child had been 2 months old. When Brandon found out, he was hesitant about staying with her. He didn’t want to take care of a child especially if it wasn’t his. But Amayah had assured him that she didn’t even want to keep it and she’d choose him over the baby any day.
“Look at the thing, I can’t take care of it and I know you sure as hell can’t either. I couldn't care less about the child, she can disappear for all I care. Brandon, I love you and I want to be with you. I’m not going to let that little demon spawn get in the way of living my life and neither should you.”
Brandon sighs and runs hands down his face. He turns towards Amayah, “You promise me, that you’re gonna get rid of it before next week?”
Thing is, the two young adults had planned to move across the country. That way they could get away from their crazy families and have less people on their back.
“Yes.”
~~~~~
It was the next night at the National City Orphanage. Wilma Johns, head in charge, heard a knock and went to answer.
She saw nothing and went prepared to close the door. As she turned around, she noticed something black in her peripheral vision.
Looking down, there was a small car seat and in it was a small baby with a note and birth certificate on top.
“‘To whoever is reading this, take care of her because I knew I wouldn’t. She’s 3 months old, born on July 7, 2005. I don’t care where she ends up honestly, I just knew I wouldn’t do what’s needed.’”
Wilma was saddened by this moment, but wasn’t surprised. There were plenty of parents dropping kids off on these here doorsteps with little to no reason why.
She bent down to pick up the seat, and brought the baby inside. The woman opened the folded birth certificate.
Valentine’s Day Photo Reactions
Valentine’s Day Photo Reactions
 This is a follow-up post to the Valentine’s Picture of my OC Lena. Although I’ve only shared the first chapter of her story with the boys, ‘A Tie That Binds’, I wanted to go ahead and share a bit of their lives and how each of them would react if she sent them the picture in a text.
Master List
Warnings: None. This is my first time doing one of these bullet posts. I got a little goofy thanks to my good friend Alcohol. (Sapphire Gin, Blue Curaçao, cranberry juice, & Sprite n_< ) But I had hella fun! Enjoy <3
Lucifer
Was in a meeting with Diavolo and Barbatos when he received the text.
Merely glanced down at first to make sure nothing was on fire or that Leviathan got pissed and summoned Lotan.
It’s Lena. A photo?
Keeps listening to Diavolo, phone hidden in his lap behind his desk.
Okay, she doesn’t bother me when she knows I’m in a meeting. Better see what she needs to show m-
Looks at Diavolo, then Barbatos. Expressionless.
Sneaks another look, before looking back at the other two.
“Lucifer...is something the matter?” Barbatos asks.
“No, why?”
“You looked away then agreed to be a part of a photoshoot to promote the Council...and you just dipped your pen into your tea.”
Clears throat, slight blushing. Definitely pissed Barbatos called him out on it. Diavolo’s guttural laugh doesn’t make it any better.
Lena was definitely going to be punished when he returned to The House of Lamentation.
Mammon
Was in the middle of sneaking into Asmodeus’s room to find some pricey jewelry or perfume to pawn to pay off some debt.
That was a lie. He was going to buy himself something extravagant instead.
Left his DDD on, full volume, and nearly had a heart attack when it went off just as he opened a very gaudy jewelry box.
“OOOIII!”
This better be good, Lena! Tryna to kill me! Or get me killed!
Looks at the message.
Spaces out for a moment. Just….staring….
Hears a sudden noise of footsteps and starts to panic.
Oh shit. Is it Asmo?!
Starts to bolt for it with his eyes still on the picture, trips over one of Asmo’s ottomans and lands face-first into the floor.
That woman is gonna be the death of me…
Leviathan
Was in the process of achieving every trophy within the latest RPG game he was into. Gotta get that Platinum!
Hears and ignores text buzz.
“Leave me alone you normies! I am going to get that Platinum, then unlock the Super Ultimate Secret Ending that reveals the prince didn’t die. I will find you princess!”
He totally forgot Valentine’s Day was coming up this week.
Received another DDD text from a Human World app that Lena made him download.
Better...answer...Len-ONE MORE LEVEL!...NO!
Lost focus just enough to die. This game was on the hardest difficulty and had limited saves so he gritted his teeth and jerked his phone up.
Could never be mad at Lena for too long though. She was his real waifu afterall!
Sees picture and his face immediately turns redder than Diavolo’s hair.
“GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!”
Sits there in a daze for a while with his hand over his mouth.
“Must...find waifu...but it’s too much! Can I even…Maybe if I ask her...Be brave...”
Mumbles to himself things he might attempt to do with Lena as he gravitates out of his room towards her’s, leaving his game unpaused.
Will have no regrets
n_<
Satan
Was reading ‘How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You’ after Lena recommended it.
Was told it could provide ideas that he and his fellow ‘Lucifer You S*ck’ chat members could implement against their eldest brother.
Furrowed his brows after reading the first 10 pages.
Did Lena even read this?
What was this New York Times and why were they making it a bestseller?
Humans are strange. And so was Lena
Ah, speaking of the nephilim: a text
He was going to have words with her about this book…
Stares at the photo and..is his bowtie a little..tight?
He would have words about the book...in the morning.
Tonight, he had other plans with the little minx.
 Beelzebub
Was walking home from Hell’s Kitchen, eating a burger in one hand while toting a giant bag full in the other.
Heard his DDD go off and crammed the remaining half in his mouth so he could fish for it in his jacket pocket.
Mmmh, fish. Definitely will have that tomorrow.
Sees that Lena had sent a text and smiles cheerfully. Was going to attempt at saving her a burger because it would remind her of her home world.
Looks at the picture.
Suddenly drops his burgers and starts to run.
Turns around and goes back for the burgers.
They would both be famished later….much later. Starving.
Belphegor
Was asleep in the bathtub in his and Beelzebub’s room, hugging his giant cow print towel like a security blanket.
Lena, if she saw him, would probably refer to him as ‘Linus’ from an old cartoon she liked. Especially the one about a pumpkin that children worshipped in the human world.
Woke to the sudden sound of his DDD crashing into the floor after vibrating off the edge of the sink.
Why are you waking me now? 10 more minutes…
A series of follow-up texts made the phone go crazy. It was definitely intentional to get Belphie to wake up.
“Leeeenaaa….nu..” he mumbled as he reached for the phone. His face was still buried in his towel.
Sees the picture Lena sent and lays there for a bit, staring.
Good thing he skipped classes and the Student Council meeting that day in favor of sleep, cause neither of them were going to get any rest.
Diavolo
Heard his DDD go off during his meeting with Lucifer and Barbatos, but ignored it. He didn’t want the both of them to lecture him about the importance of the matters they were discussing.
Smiled like a happy little teenager in love when he saw it was Lena that left a message.
Seeing the picture, the prince’s smile faded.
“Barbatos. Cancel the rest of my plans for this evening.” Barbatos bowed, knowing how serious his master was.
Whenever he returned to his home, he would teleport the lovely nephilim directly to his bedroom chambers.
He couldn’t wait for Barbatos to arrange an invitation, and Lena didn’t look like she wanted to either.
He’d better transform into his devil form. She was already matching it and he knew she loved to grab his-
“My Lord,” Barbatos interrupted his thoughts, “You have transformed involuntarily into your demon form and your wings just knocked over all the documents...again.”
Asmodeus
Was the one who set up the little photo shoot and worked the camera.
He painted her nails gold and found the earrings to match the ensemble.
Honestly, he was a fashion genius and she looked almost as good as him. Dare he say equally?
No, not quite. He was the definition of perfection.
Barely resisted the urge to make advancements in the process.
“No, lovely!” she chimed as he made final hair adjustments, breathing in the perfume he gifted her...and then adjusted his hair as he gazed upon his own beauty in her vanity mirror.
He respected her wishes.
The moment the shoot was over, he pounced at the opportunity to ravish his lovely bride.
He was told after the picture was taken, he could ‘take her’. n_<
BONUS!
 Lena
Had to buy 8 versions of the same lingerie and was gonna be broke if they keep shredding her damn clothes EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Was not complaining she had to celebrate Valentine’s Day 8 days in a row, but she’d never been more happy to be a nephilim.
Needed to thank Solomon for teaching her a spell that made her room soundproof.
Wouldn’t be attending RAD for about two weeks.
Barbatos
Accidentally received Lena’s picture.
Now understood what in the Devildom had gotten into both Lord Diavolo and Lucifer.
“Good for her.”
