This is about 4oz of 100% merino, colorway Blaze from Paradise Fibers. I actually got all these dyed fibers as a gift this past winter from my sister-in-law, of course to go along with the spinning wheel my husband got me. She picked out the colors she liked the most, and while I've been surprised by how much I like some of them, my true love lies in natural colors or naturally dyed fibers. So, I'm using these vibrant and bold colors as my practice yarn before picking up the breed-specific ones I got myself.
I've got the remaining 4-ish ounces of Blaze left, as well as 8oz of a merino/mulberry silk/alpaca blend. I plan to ply the rest of Blaze and half the blend together, and then do a 2-ply of just the blend. And then it'll be on to some corriedale or BFL!
just finished spinning my first skein of yarn on my new eew 6 spinning wheel 🥹💖
i still have more to do, aka winding it into a skein, giving it a good soak and snap to set the fibers and twist, and then letting it dry… but the most time consuming part is done now!!!
might take a break from spinning to work on my youtube channel, and then some paintings and whatnot for a bit, because i’m starting to really miss those
Blocking this doily was an experience! It took a little over three hours and a bit of my sanity. I’ve told myself I’ll never do this again, but I feel as if that might be a lie..
Photos of the doily are of it while being blocked. I totally forgot to get any pics after I took all the pins out. The finished size was 51 inches in diameter.
A few more pieces of my greyscale blanket. Some more of the granny stitch, hearts, crescent moons, and I even kind of made up my own version of a skull square! <|:^D
Every year for their birthday I let my kids pick whatever they want for me to make, no limits. This year my oldest is turning 7 and asked for a new rainbow sweater to replace the one he outgrew, and also that his bestie Bubbles the (Stuffed) Robot have his own matching sweater. I couldn’t find buttons I liked in the right size, so I designed and 3D printed some, which turned out to be perfect because then I could also print tiny versions for the little sweater.
So here is Bubbles modeling his brand-new sweater, and the big kid version which will be gifted tomorrow ☺️.
Haven't posted him here yet so I suppose I should probably do that, by the community on discord and twitter he has been christened,,,,,, Yarnaby
Metrics and features:
-21 consecutive days to make, start to finish
-weighs almost 5lbs
-used approximately 1,500yds of yarn
-velcro face so he has swappable facial expressions
-replaceable neck including a gooseneck poseable
this was simultaneously the best and worst thing I have ever worked on. fortunately or unfortunately I am never going to do this to myself ever again, so Yarnaby by my hands specifically will remain one of a kind LMAO
I love when people tell me I make clothing wrong. I love when they tell me “you have to knit sweaters from a yoke” and “you have to sew a back rip stitch for a garment zipper” because I don’t! I don’t!!! I can make clothing however I like! I knit sweaters from the bottom up in panels on straight needles! I sew my zippers on by hand with embroidery thread! And guess what?! The sweaters look like sweaters! The zippers work like zippers! The SNOZBERRIES taste like S N O Z B E R R I E S!!
