Learn Mathematics through Hands-on Activity for Students
Mathematics is frequently seen as a complicated and abstract topic, which causes students to become distracted and anxious. Hands-on activities, on the other hand, have the potential to revolutionize the learning experience by making arithmetic more engaging, interactive, and accessible. By adding manipulatives and real-world applications, children can gain a better comprehension of mathematical ideas, encouraging a lifetime love of the subject.
Benefits of Hands-on Learning
Hands-on mathematics activities have several significant benefits. They help to demystify difficult topics by breaking them down into tangible components. This strategy encourages student collaboration because many exercises may be completed in groups, boosting communication and teamwork. Furthermore, hands-on exercises can boost confidence; students who struggle with conventional methods frequently succeed and like these interactive projects.
Furthermore, these activities promote discovery and innovation. Instead of memorizing formulas and methods, students are taught to experiment and uncover mathematical concepts through trial and error. This practical learning method can spark curiosity and a lifelong interest in mathematics.
Examples of Hands-on Activities
Manipulatives for Elementary Students
Blocks, counters, and geometric forms are extremely useful manipulatives for young students. These tools enable students to visualize numbers, patterns, and spatial relationships. For example, utilizing coloured blocks to represent various numbers might help students comprehend addition and subtraction. Similarly, geometric forms can be used to explore ideas such as symmetry, area, and perimeter.
Fun Maths Games to Play in the Classroom
Maths games that encourage students to solve puzzles or accomplish tasks can make learning more engaging and competitive. Board games, card games, and digital apps sometimes include mathematical difficulties that involve strategic thinking. For example, games like "Math Bingo" and "Sudoku" promote quick mental calculations and logical reasoning.
Project-Based Learning
Long-term projects involving mathematical concepts can lead to a better understanding of the subject. For example, students can design a survey, collect data, and use statistical methods to assess the results. Another assignment could be to design a tiny garden, which requires measurements, area calculations, and a grasp of proportions.
Implementing Hands-on Learning for Students In Classroom
To integrate hands-on activities into your teaching practice, start small. Begin with simple manipulatives or activities and gradually increase complexity. Secondly, make it relevant by connecting creative maths activities to real-world scenarios or students' interests which in turn will lead to encouraging exploration. Allow students to discover mathematical concepts through trial and error.
Keeping all of it in mind, a group of young SAIoneers in Class IV launched on an exciting adventure into the world of mathematics via a hands-on exercise. The students were inspired by their curiosity and propelled by their creativity as they participated in an interactive lesson centered on the basic idea of adding value using building blocks. Read more.
The classroom was alive with activity as students excitedly engaged in numerical operations, handling physical items to understand the abstract idea of addition. This tactile experience not only strengthened their comprehension of mathematical procedures, but also helped children acquire important abilities like problem solving, critical thinking, and cooperation.
Conclusion
Introducing hands-on activities into math education is an effective method for increasing student involvement and knowledge. By making mathematics interactive and relevant, educators may improve the learning experience, making it more interesting and effective. As students interact, study, and experiment with mathematical concepts, they gain a better understanding and mastery of the topic, laying the groundwork for future academic and everyday success.

Wukong being student's favorite teacher is so cute but I also think that student sometimes take lot of adventage from him
Something like poket money, skip his class, not doing his homework and sometimes take all his chips or cheating during his exam.
Student just do it because "It's Mr. Sun he wont be that mad 😊"
He also teacher that people feel bad about when he actually upset with something because he just nice .....
DF RAMBLE AHEAD
I'd like to play devil's advocate (so take my words with a grain of salt and please don't think I'm trying to be offensive) and counteract your thoughts with the prospect of Mr Sun (Wukong) being one of the only teachers in the entire school who you can't 'take advantage of' because he legitimately does not care (unless it concerns those peach chips. Those are his and his only. He's the only one allowed to eat in the painting room because he said so. If you complain to HOD of the Arts "Nüwa" about this, all she will do is scold Wukong for eating in the painting rooms but he will keep doing it amyway).
Sure, he might lend out pocket money (which, would actually be incredibly irresponsible) to students or in a more realistic scenario, let kids borrow expensive art supplies and take them home, knowing full well half the time he doesn't ever get them back. But at the end of the school year he'll add it to the students' school fees in a blatant manner in bold text, indicating that whatever money/expense is owed to him must be paid back (including self implemented 'money borrowing' tax of course). But like, guys, I'm not gonna lie, Wukong would be too broke to give out pocket money to kids, and the art department is running so low on supplies that there is hardly enough to even go around in class lmao.
He wouldn't care if you skip his class too. He is an art teacher. If you skip his classes, and/or don't do the homework (which would quite literally just be either fundamental art research or finishing paintings. Nothing complicated like writing essays) and don't get enough time to finish your paintings, then that's on you. Wukong won't bother trying to nag you about it. He always has enough students who actually do give a crap about his class and do extraordinarily well to prevent him from being fired. All of the students know their deadlines. It's up to them to sort it out how they meet them or gain permission for an extension.
None of this should be mistaken for being 'nice' though. He's a teacher who cares about the students who take his class seriously, and won't push the kids who don't. He knows students can only learn if they WANT to learn, and as a teacher there isn't much he can do to change a student's intrinsic motivation other than showing both to hard working students themselves AND students who don't work hard, how rewarding putting in the effort can be (for a subject like painting at least).
Side note: I don't know how other schools work apart from the ones in New Zealand (where I am from), but there aren't any exams for art (painting). Only a portfolio you have to finish by the end of the year and there's no tests so. There's no 'cheating' other than tracing and copying other artists works without credit I guess. Will Wukong be mad about that? Ehhh... Maybe just disappointed. But that's probably worse.
This is probably the reason why most teachers don't like Mr Sun. He deliberately does not care about his classes as a whole and instead spends his time focusing on the students who actually want to be there and want to learn. Like MK, who, I'm 73% sure Mr Sun is mentoring personally because MK really wants to excel in the arts and Mr Sun was willing to give him that extra push.
Anyways. Back on track. If Mr Sun is ever upset about anything, he wouldn't let it show. He's... Probably got a really strong persona that he keeps up that's hard to break down. Just like in LMK canon.
He's a great guy if you actually want him to teach you. He's funny, he's supportive, kind of a bit too hands off and experimental, but you're guaranteed to always leave his classroom with paint on your hands and a smile on your face.

how strange it is to observe yourself changing
#not snz#delete later#another suddencolds yap post 😭 i apologize#i have been trying to draft a post like this for awhile now... i suppose this is a subset of the many thoughts i've had lately#this year has been so strange??! i joked in january about taking a leave to metamorphose into someone more tolerable but#honestly i am not sure if i am more tolerable now... though i do feel like i've changed. :')#for the better? for the worse? unsure... i feel like i am finding out more and more that#my social battery is unfortunately finite 😭 and that i must be more selective in how i choose to spend my time 🙇‍♀️#i think all throughout uni the majority of my substantial social interactions happened#over text/online? irl i made a lot of acquaintances via classes and student organizations... but the number of#close friends i had and actively met up with irl was pretty low 😭 and that embarrassed me!! like#how can one 🫵🏼 be surrounded by so many smart people her age and come away with so few in-person friends?? ☹️ skill issue truly!!! 🙄👎#even now i sometimes feel like the need to defend myself from that uncharitable perception of me? as though the idea that#there is/was something wrong with me is something i need to actively disprove 🥲#taken objectively i feel like i'm doing okay socially 😭 i have a decent handful of irl friends that#i meet with pretty regularly and people do seek out my company... but there's this feeling at the back of my mind that#no one will believe me when i say it. perhaps because i am so deeply used to seeing myself as undesirable :')#(^ i think this was all more painful than i am getting across in writing and i am summarizing it all from a point of relative detachment 😶)#but anyways! i am older now and it feels like things are shifting... or that i'm being forced to acknowledge that i have limits socially#in terms of energy rather than capability. which is new :') and i've also been thinking about the feeling of closeness (or lack thereof)#that i feel when it comes to the various friendships in my life. i think i am really fully vulnerable like#kind of seldom actually... but on the rare occasion that i feel sufficiently attached i worry i come across as a little intense 😭#(if i have embarrassed myself in front of you i am very sorry 😭😭 i'm still figuring things out)#(not sure if anyone is still reading this but) these tags are getting long enough 🏃‍♀️

So like congrats but also u didn’t do shit LOL

apparently my admin think im a bad teacher because i sit down while i teach. that was their complaint. because i sit down. mind you im not sitting the entire period but because im not standing for 7 hours im not good at my job.
im the fucking department head and create the lessons for my entire grade level, i present my lessons in a way that make sense to my students, i teach the fucking honors students!!!, my lessons are rigorous but within the students ability level do you know how hard it is to juggle that for 137 kids? i contact parents to update them, i have the best behavior management to the point where i help other teachers ways to manage the different personalities in the room, over 75% of my students are passing with a B or higher, i have kids coming to my class all day cuz they know im the person in the building that will give them a second of my time. but im a bad teacher because i sit down.
