Dear Church of Ezrabine,

Today we are going to meditate upon the sacred text known as Ezra’s Duel with Danger, one of the most angsty Star Wars Rebels books in the series. It takes place after Droids in Distress and before Battle to the End.

In this book, Ezra has to cope with the depressing fact that Empire Day is also the date of his birthday. He has to overcome his resentment towards Tseebo who failed to save his parents and protect him when he was younger. Then, most challenging of all, Ezra must resist the and overcome the temptations and deceptions of the Dark Side.

On one of the worst days of his life, Sabine is the person who knows exactly how to cheer him up. She gives fifteen-year-old Ezra the first birthday present he has received since he was seven years old.

There aren’t as many Sabezra interactions to contemplate as in our other sacred texts, but we do have this mysterious little moment:

What could possibly be more important than Jedi training? For Ezra, it was whatever he was doing with Sabine. And no, he’s not “with” with her. Not yet, anyway.

Now for some major angst, dear Sabezra shippers. This is going to hurt. Ezra had a Force vision when he and Kanan were inside the Jedi Temple on Lothal.

Ezra goes from being happy that Sabine defended him to hoping that in a few years things would work out between them and they would be a couple to absolute heartbreak when Ezra hears Sabine say that “he’s just a little kid” who is scared and alone. She feels pity for him.

Ezra’s is so heartbroken that he starts crying. He may be young, but he really does love Sabine.

Ezra realizes that the conversation he heard wasn’t real. It was a Dark Side deception that was a manifestation of his worst fear: the fear that the people he loves most don’t feel the same way about him.

Here, we learn that Sabine is Ezra’s greatest weakness and by the end of Rebels and in Ahsoka Season 1, we see him realize that she is also his greatest strength. She is the person he can always count on. In the live action series we also witness how the reverse is also true. Sabine’s desire to be reunited with Ezra is her greatest weakness, but his love for her and confidence in her is what strengthens her emotionally, opening her up to finally being able to connect with the Force.

Sabine and Ezra belong together. Do not lose faith.

TOA Anniversary Munday

Where are you from? What is your time zone? USA; Eastern Standard Time

How long is your roleplay experience? 12-ish years give or take some hiatuses I took and whatnot.

How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? I am pretty sure it was due to some friends I had in high school at the time lol. Ironically they wrote on Tumblr haha. I wrote short stuff on DeviantArt before that as one-shot things but we don't perceive that.

How were you introduced to TOA? I saw a promo post for it on Twitter. I was in a multi-fandom rp group writing 3H there at the time but I was intrigued at the idea of getting to interact with more Fire Emblem characters and having a new setting for my 3H muse.

Do you have any pets? No, but I used to have birds when I was younger.

What is your favorite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) Fall because the weather starts to cool down lol. I also like the autumn cozy things.

What is your IRL occupation? Database Analyst.

Some interests and things you like/enjoy? Reading, listening to music, dance, cosplay, makeup.

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? Persona, rhythm games (right now just Project Sekai but I used to be very big into Love Live), and I've enjoyed mystery series like Danganronpa and RainCode.

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: I am saddened to say I know very little about Pokemon asFGHL but I am hoping to change this soon.

Tell us some funfacts and trivia about yourself! (Optional bonus challenge: if you filled this last year, try not to repeat what you said back then!) Hmm. I am left handed, I am one of the fastest typists at my job, and I have had a few ita bags over the years for various characters- Eli Love Live, Kanan Love Live, Makoto Persona 5, and I've started an Edelgard one lol.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? Three Houses was all over my Twitter feed when it came out and so I checked it out! The gameplay looked neat and the story seemed cool. And now I am here!

What Fire Emblem games have you played? I have played or watched playthroughs of Jugdral, the Archanea games, Awakening, Fates, Valentia, 3 Houses, and Engage.

First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: First: Three Houses. Favorite: Three Houses.

List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Probably Edelgard, Celine, Dorothea, Flayn, and Ivy.

Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! Edelgard lol! I went in 3H blind and I chose BEagles first because I liked her character and I was not disappointed.

Any Fire Emblem crushes? 😳 Hmm not really, but I think Alfred and Diamant are cool lol.

If you’ve played (or are familiar with) the following games, who was your first S support? Who would you S support nowadays? - Awakening: Chrom, still Chrom

Fates: I can't remember orz.

Favorite Fire Emblem class? I've grown fond of the Armored classes over the years but I also like Gremory.

If you were a Fire Emblem character, what would be your class and stats? Would you be playable? I'd probably be a healer lol and average stats.

If you were a Three Houses character, what would be your affiliation? (Black Eagles, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, Church of Seiros, Those Who Slither in the Dark, unaffiliated civilian, other - for example Almyran) Black Eagles.

If you were an Officers Academy student, what would be your boons, banes and potential budding talent? Boons: Reason, Faith. Banes: Axe, Heavy Armor. Budding talent: Authority

If you were an Engage character, which nation would you originate from? (Firene, the Kingdom of Abundance; Brodia, the Kingdom of Might; Elusia, the Kingdom of Knowledge; Solm, the Queendom of Freedom; Lythos, the holy land of the Divine Dragon; Gradlon, the desolate land of the Fell Dragon) Firene is very pretty and I am slightly bias haha.

How do you pronounce TOA? 🤔(separate letters, to-ah, other?) To-Ah

Past TOA muses? Flayn, Annette, Dorothea, Elice, Yunaka. I think that's all.

If you have past muses, are there any you miss in particular? I enjoy them as characters but I don't want to write any of them right now. I prefer seeing them in other people's hands hehe.

Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? My first muse was Flayn and I don't see myself writing her again. I wrote a lot of stuff for her both here and the previous MFRP group I was in and I feel satisfied with that.

Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) My muse type is still the same I think lol! I gravitate a lot towards stoic women- Something about these ladies having a lot of responsibility on their shoulders and, for some of them, a colder exterior but a kind heart.

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? Male muses never stick for me in general. Aside from that, I'm not really sure, but I guess maybe characters who's designs are neat but I don't have their lore as well-grasped.

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I enjoy a mix of things! I like fluff as much as I like angst stuff- It depends on the muses and context. I like steering my muses towards certain arcs and I like them developing friendships as well as finding themselves in difficult scenarios.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? I'd like to write more AU's! The 3H timeskip AU and Fell Xenologue AU's are two off the top of my head. Otherwise, I hope to explore more of Edelgard opening up about herself and Celine developing more knowledge on surrounding lands.

Favorite TOA-related memories? I enjoyed Fantom Loews and KKE a lot as two lore events that come to mind! I also really have liked every Ethereal Ball interaction my muses have had. The more casual setting allows them to meet both old and new muses.

Present or past tense? I switch around but I've written more in past tense overall.

Normal size text, small text, no preference? I default to small text and bolded dialogue but I change it around sometimes and don't have a preference for other people when writing with me!

Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 Not really hahaha. I wouldn't mind trying another Engage character sometime but as to who, I don't know yet lol.

Birthday Wishes

“Aku ambil baju ganti, sepatu, sama gear box-ku dulu ya sebentar. Kamu mau ikut apa tunggu aku di sini? Ikut aja yuk,” cerocos Orion panjang lebar usai memarkirkan mobil di basement apartemennya.

“Ri.”

Gumaman pelan Orion berikan pada Hazel sebagai tanggapan. Sembari melepas sabuk pengaman, dia menoleh ke sampingnya, tempat Hazel sedari tadi duduk manis di bangku penumpang.

“Apa? Kena — ”

“Happy birthday.” Kalimat Orion sebelumnya terjeda oleh ucapan selamat ulang tahun spontan dari Hazel, lengkap dengan kecupan singkat di bibirnya yang juga bersamaan dia terima.

Selagi Orion memproses keadaan, dia sudah lebih dulu disambut senyuman manis favoritnya sejak dua tahun lalu. Meski keadaan mobilnya kini minim penerangan, semua itu sudah cukup baginya untuk dapat melihat jelas wajah cantik dan berseri milik Hazel.

Tawa kecil lolos dari bibir Hazel. Mungkin gadis itu geli akan tampang konyol yang masih saja Orion tunjukkan lantaran kaget.

Belum sempat dia mengucapkan sepatah kata, Hazel kembali mencium bibirnya. Kali ini, meski singkat, Orion bisa merasakan lembutnya bibir yang dipoles dengan pewarna bibir merah muda itu.

“Selamat ulang tahun, ya,” ujar Hazel, mengulang ucapannya. “I know you must forget about your birthday, kan? Makanya kamu malah santai ngajakin aku ke Bandung. Mana tiba-tiba udah jemput di depan rumah lagi.”

Pukul enam pagi tadi, Orion memang sengaja datang ke rumah Hazel. Tujuannya tentu saja sesuai dengan apa yang dikatakan Hazel barusan. Padahal, acara mendadak mereka ke Bandung pun hanya sekedar untuk mengantar Hazel ke salah satu toko buku impor yang sedang diskon besar-besaran. Tapi itu pun, tidak banyak yang bisa Hazel dapatkan karena ternyata tak banyak pula buku yang menarik perhatiannya. Ujung-ujungnya, mereka berdua hanya mampir sejenak ke toko buku lain, makan di salah satu restoran kesukaan Orion, membeli cheesecake yang jadi kue favorit Hazel di cake shop rekomendasi Selena, lalu berkeliling Bandung sejenak sebelum akhirnya memutuskan untuk pulang berhubung jam sepuluh malam nanti Orion harus berangkat ke Bali untuk mengisi salah satu event musik esok hari bersama rekan satu band-nya.

Hazel yang sebelumnya sudah tahu akan jadwal Orion, terang saja sempat menolak agenda perjalanan dadakan tersebut dan mengatakan kalau mereka bisa pergi lain waktu. Lagi pula, kemarin malam Hazel hanya bicara tanpa betul-betul ingin permintaannya untuk dituruti. Tapi sayangnya, Orion tetaplah Orion. Dia akan selalu konsisten menepati ucapannya, apalagi untuk segala hal yang berhubungan dengan Hazel. Selagi dia memang punya waktu luang di samping segala kesibukannya, dia pasti akan menyempatkan dirinya untuk berusaha memenuhi apa pun yang gadis itu inginkan.

“Thank you for always being such a wonderful person in this life. My boring life, to be precise,” koreksi Hazel sembari terkekeh geli.

Setelahnya, Hazel memberikan kecupan lain di pipi kanan Orion. “And thank you for making me feel loved every single day.” Giliran pipi kirinya yang mendapatkan kecupan dari Hazel. “This one is for the endless things you do to me, even if you don’t realize it.”

Orion tak lagi memasang tampang kaget nan konyolnya. Sekarang wajahnya sudah berseri-seri dengan senyuman lebar khasnya. Terutama ketika Hazel mencondongkan tubuhnya untuk mencium keningnya selama beberapa detik.

“Wishing you have the happiest birthday today, even if you have to drive from Jakarta to Bandung terus balik lagi ke Jakarta cuma buat nemenin aku cari buku habis itu jalan-jalan nggak jelas padahal kamu masih ada jadwal besok.” Hazel memasang muka cemberut tak enak selama beberapa saat saat mengutarakan hal tersebut. Tapi sedetik kemudian senyum simpulnya lekas kembali. “I love you in ways I never knew were possible and I hope that never changes.”

Setelahnya, meski senyuman tetap terpatri di wajah tampan miliknya, Orion masih belum membuka mulutnya untuk membalas semua kalimat yang Hazel lontarkan. Tak berapa lama, Hazel segera sibuk berbalik mencari sesuatu di dalam tas yang dibawanya.

“I have something for you!” seru Hazel sembari berkutat dengan tote bag putihnya. “Mana ya…”

“Hazel,” panggil Orion pada akhirnya.

Kontan saja Hazel mendelik galak ke arahnya. Orion tahu kalau pacarnya itu tidak suka setiap kali nama depannya dipanggil dengan benar olehnya. Menurut Hazel, setiap kali Orion memanggilnya seperti itu, artinya Orion sedang marah padanya.

"Panggil kayak biasa aja jangan — ”

“Instead of a gift, can I have a kiss?” Orion menyela ocehan Hazel.

“Right here? Right now?”

Sementara Orion mengangguk singkat, Hazel malah memasang tampang bingung dan serba salah. Seolah lupa kalau beberapa saat lalu dirinyalah yang berinisiatif untuk menghujani wajah Orion dengan kecupan lembutnya.

Orion sempat terkekeh geli sewaktu melihat Hazel melirik ke kiri dan kanan, memastikan kalau keadaan parkiran basement tersebut sepi, sebelum akhirnya menyetujui permintaannya. “Okay.”

Kedua tangan Orion segera menangkup pipi Hazel. Ibu jarinya bergerak untuk mengusap lembut kulit wajah gadis itu. Tanpa mau membuang banyak waktu lagi — berhubung Orion masih cukup sadar kalau dia harus segera mengambil barang-barangnya dan mengantar Hazel pulang sebelum berangkat ke Lucid Records, dia pun segera mencium lembut bibir Hazel. Sebuah senyuman muncul di bibirnya saat Hazel membalas ciuman tersebut.

Kissing has never been so addictive for him before. But since he tasted her sweet lips two years ago for the first time, it really felt different. Especially when his heart always feels so full of love every time he kisses her. And he knows that she feels the same, too. That’s why it’s so addictive for him. So perfect, and of course, amazing.

“Could we go upstairs and kiss all night? I don’t wanna go to Bali right now,” bisik Orion ketika menyudahi ciuman tersebut.

Hazel hanya menanggapinya dengan tawa geli. “Nggak boleh gitu, tau? Itu kan kerjaan kamu, jadi kamu harus tanggung jawab dong. Plus, kamu juga udah janji mau pulangin aku ke rumah, bukannya diculik ke apartemen kamu.”

Decakan sebal lolos dari bibir Orion. “Janjinya nggak bisa aku tarik, ya?” Hazel menggeleng cepat. “Damn it,” rutuk Orion bercanda. “Okay, then,” sambungnya setelah beberapa saat, “I’ll make another promise.”

“Apa tuh?”

“I’ll kiss and hug you all night when I get home.”

Orion langsung mendapat hadiah tinjuan ganas dari Hazel. “Apa-apaan janjinya gitu?!” protes gadis itu dengan nada galak yang Orion pun tahu hanya candaan semata, sekaligus salah satu bentuk dari rasa salah tingkahnya.

“What’s wrong with that? Don’t you like my lips’ taste? Aren’t they taste like cherry?” goda Orion iseng sembari menaikkan sebelah alisnya dan sedikit menelengkan kepalanya.

Dalam penerangan yang seadanya itu, terlihat jelas kalau pipi Hazel bersemu merah. Sekarang, bukan tinjuan lagi yang Orion dapatkan, tapi wajahnya yang didorong kasar oleh Hazel.

Buru-buru Orion menangkap pergelangan tangan Hazel, dan dalam satu gerakan cepat, dia sudah menggenggam tangan kanan gadis itu. Orion pun kembali menyapukan bibirnya, kali ini pada buku-buku jari Hazel. Matanya terpejam selama beberapa detik saat melakukan hal tersebut.

Saat dia membuka matanya, Hazel tengah menatapnya. Masih dengan wajahnya yang memerah karena malu.

“I can’t promise you everything, but I guarantee my feelings for you will never change, Radella. Never.”

Sorot mata Orion berubah serius ketika mengucapkan kalimat tersebut. Dia sadar, mungkin saat ini dia terdengar seperti seorang pembual yang mengucapkan hal tersebut hanya karena sedang merasa bahagia dan dimabuk perasaan cinta yang menggebu-gebu. Tapi, Orion sungguh-sungguh akan ucapannya. Meski tidak ada yang tahu masa depan akan seperti apa, dia sudah lebih dulu mendedikasikan seluruh hatinya untuk perempuan yang seringkali menjadi inspirasi dan memenuhi hampir seluruh halaman songbook miliknya.

Senyuman manis beserta lesung pipi samar muncul di wajah Orion. “I hope I’m good enough for you to stay with me. So that I don’t have to worry about you changing your feelings for me one day. That’s my only wish for my birthday.”

“Are you kidding me?” balas Hazel spontan. Segera ditanggapi dengan kedua alis Orion yang berkerut. “Bukannya aku yang harusnya ngomong gitu? Kamu yang dikelilingin banyak orang yang lebih sempurna dari aku, jadi harusnya aku yang khawatir karena hal itu.”

“Don’t be.” Orion mengeratkan genggaman tangannya. Begitu pula dengan jemarinya yang tak henti mengusap punggung tangan Hazel. “They are not you. I don’t want them. I only want you. The one and only Radella in my life.”

“Okay, that’s it.” Hazel menarik paksa tangannya dan bergegas membuka pintu mobil Orion. “Stop this cheesy conversation karena kamu harus buru-buru ambil barangmu kalau nggak mau didemo semua orang terutama Daniel.”

Sembari terkekeh, Orion pun lekas mengikuti pergerakan Hazel untuk keluar dari mobil. Ketika mereka menunggu lift, Orion kembali menggenggam tangan Hazel, seakan takut kalau-kalau gadis itu akan pergi begitu saja ketika lepas dari pengawasannya.

“Wanna hold your hand,” sahut Orion jujur saat Hazel memprotes karena tangannya digenggam terlalu erat.

“You’re gonna break my wrist, Orion.”

“Nggak bakalan.” Orion terkekeh dan menuntun Hazel masuk ke dalam lift.

“Nih.” Sebuah notebook berwarna putih — persis dengan songbook miliknya — disodorkan oleh Hazel menggunakan tangannya yang bebas. “Terakhir aku liat songbook kamu udah mau habis, jadi ini aku beliin yang baru.”

Orion menyambut notebook tersebut dengan tampang berseri-seri. “Makasih ya,” ujarnya. “Gonna use this to write a lot of love songs for you.”

Kedua bola mata Hazel yang merotasi malas membuatnya tertawa. “Dasar musisi!”

Tawa Orion pun langsung meledak mendengar ejekan tersebut. Genggaman tangannya pindah menjadi rangkulan pada pinggang Hazel.

“You have no idea how much I love you, Radella.”

“Oh, shut up, Genio. I know that cause you'll start writing a song about me right after this.”

“Bingo,” tukas Orion bangga dengan cengiran lebarnya, berikut ciuman singkat yang dia berikan pada pucuk kepala Hazel. “I love you, so fucking much.”
