Happy birthday, Janis Joplin! 💙 (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970)
Quotes by artists influenced by Janis' legacy below:
"Janis put herself out there completely, and her voice was not only strong and soulful, it was painfully and beautifully real. She sang in the great tradition of the rhythm & blues singers that were her heroes, but she brought her own dangerous, sexy rock & roll edge to every single song. She really gave you a piece of her heart. And that inspired me to find my own voice and my own style." - Stevie Nicks "I think she allowed women to have their pain. Her thing was so borne from her pain. Her amazing talent was because of the pain she had...I think she was so misunderstood, and she was so intelligent, emotionally intelligent, and what came out of her was almost beyond what her physical body could even do as a singer, and what she was putting across." - Nancy Wilson (of Heart) on Janis "That’s really how I learned [to sing], and I was already listening to the greats like Janis Joplin, who I loved to death, and who was one of the greatest rock singers ever..." - Rob Halford (of Judas Priest) "I never knew Janis, I never saw her or heard her voice live, I never witnessed the fireball of fury that she unleashed onstage, but I think I understand. When a soul can look on the world, and see and feel the pain and loneliness, and can reach deep down inside, and find a voice to sing of it, a soul can heal. And hers did." - Melissa Etheridge "I saw Janis Joplin when I was 15. I heard her sing, and I couldn’t believe she was smoking on stage, she was drinking Southern Comfort, and she sang like no other. She could sing a song entitled, 'Take A Little Piece of My Heart' and deliver it so beautifully, amazingly." - Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) "She was such a huge influence on me. Because she was so different to any other female vocalist of the time. I was used to Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield and those sort of singers, who were great, but Joplin was unique. She was not a pop star, but really belted out those songs. There was so much emotion in something like 'Move Over.'" - Enid Williams (of Girlschool) "You listen to a Janis Joplin record and she just puts — she wears everything on her sleeve, whether she's completely drugged up, it's on her sleeve. If she's totally just passionately screaming at the top of her lungs, it's on her sleeve. You feel like whatever she's talking about and whatever she's singing about, she sang it with no cares, no second thoughts, no looking back. She didn't say, 'You know what, let's take that take again.' She sang it and she sang it with every bone in her body, and that was that." - Alicia Keys

Happy Birthday Mom! (Not tickles involved)! Also I don't own Wednesday or Enid or anything! I'm just a fan, all credits go to the creators and everyone else!
Its my Mom's birthday today and I decided to make her a Story/FanFic for it. Also she is a teenager in this Story/FanFic.
Fandom: Wednesday Netflix TV Show 2023
Sarah woke up in her dorm room that she shared with Enid and Wednesday. And of course, by the nano-second she began open her eyes Enid immediately jumped on her bed and began playing "Happy Birthday!" On her phone.
"Happy Birthday Sarah!!" Enid said sounding like an excited, energized baby puppy.
"Haha! Thank you Enid, good morning!" Sarah replied with a smile forming across her face.
As soon as Wednesday entered the room, (back from the bathroom, "Why did she not use the bathroom in the dorm?" Because Enid decorated the Bathroom with colors. I'm not trying to be rude I'm just being honest.) She immediately noticed the commotion.
"Happy Birthday Sarah" Wednesday said, sounding quiet and dead as usual.
"Oh come on Wens! Don't wanna pack up more excitement?! It's her birthday today!" Enid said towards Wednesday who folded her arms in annoyance.
"I understand it's her Birthday, but you two BETTER keep it down because it's my writing time and I don't want any distractions!" Wednesday said as Enid just rolled her eyes and looked at Wednesday one last time before saying
"Suit yourself!" And with that Enid turned around, took Sarah's hand and they both walked somewhere that they would have a good time.
"Enid where are you taking me?" Sarah said with excitement in her voice and a smile on her face.
"Just wait, it's a surprise!" Enid said as they both wandered further down into the forest.
"It's in here follow me! Trust me you'll love this!" Enid said as they both then began wandering into a random cave that was probably dug around 1,000-2,000 years ago.
As they both began to go deeper eventually Enid took one final step and stopped.
"Ok here it is!" Enid said as she gently tapped the wall, and suddenly the big, dark cave was lightened by all these Crystals and Minerals, all of different shapes, sizes, and colors.
"Oh my gosh! Enid am I dreaming?! I must be dreaming, there is no way this is real!" Sarah said as she looked around the cave in amazement and wonder. Her amazement was like "This is beautiful!" And "I've never seen anything so lovely!" While her wonder was like "How long has this been here?" And "Can I take one of these Crystals without anything bad happening?"
They both had a great wandering and socializing in that Crystal/Mineral paradise.
And they both shared fun stories with each other on their way back. While Enid was also talking to her at the same time saying.
"Do you want your presents? Cake? Anything else?"
Enid was happy for Sarah and wanted her to have a good, Happy Birthday.
"Maybe soon, not this instant though." Sarah said.
"Are you sure?" Enid asked.
"Yes, I'm positive!" Sarah replied.
They both walked back to nevermore together and opened their dorm.
"Well, you two were out for a long time." Wednesday said. As Enid just started giggling and started whispering in Sarah's ear.
"Don't tell her! We should keep it a secret! 😉😁" Enid giggled under her words.
"Ok! 👌😉😁" Sarah replied to her, also giggling slightly.
And they both hopped on Enid's bed and began watching TikTok. Leaving Wednesday sitting there speechless and confused.

Happy Birthday Wednesday! (Wednesday Lee/Enid Ler)
This Wednesday fanfic is dedicated to my beautiful girlfriend @nnainai She turns 20 years old! Everyone wish her a happy birthday and all the gifts and birthday tickles she deserves :> I love you honey you’re my gorgeous girl <333
 It’s Wednesday’s birthday but she doesn’t see the appeal in celebrating. Enid decides to cheer her up on her special day.
WARNING: small kiss at the ending :>
                                   `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
 The sun cast rays of golden glow filtering through gilded trees. The sky was full of puffy clouds, and green grass waved at passer-bys from the gentle breeze. Boys played football with friends, girls chatted on picnic blankets, people walked their dogs happily. A picturesque day, but to Wednesday Addams:
 It was dreadful.
 Wednesday turned from her window and walked back to her desk, which has turned into her dark comfort corner. Today was a day like any other, despite her parents ringing her phone and her crystal ball. They were insistent on wishing her a Happy Birthday, but today was anything but. Her dreariness to the occasion was physically draining, more so draining than how she usually felt.
 Wednesday has never understood what was so important about birthdays. Despite the euphoric feeling of being one year closer to death, that was about as much enjoyment she could get from the supposed holiday. The more people tried to wish her well on this day, the more nauseated she felt. She never brought up the subject to her birthday to anyone she would consider a friend, and she preferred it that way.
 Besides, there wasn’t a single day out of the year she didn’t put herself first. Yet, if Wednesday was supposed to enjoy herself *more* on this day, she’d rather spend it doing what usually consisted of her routine. She’d type more of her book listening to her carefully selected music, and grab some coffee before studying in the library. It sounded like a good enough day to her-
 “WEDNESDAY! EEEE!” Well, it DID sound like a good day. Enid flew into the room with all of the energy of a hyper-active child. Enid carried plenty of bags and presents for Wednesday, with Thing right behind her carrying more gifts as well. All the gifts were wrapped with black and white wrapping paper.
 “Thing told me it was my roomy’s birthday and you didn’t tell me! These presents are totally last minute, but I’m excited to be celebrating at all!” Enid put her presents on the floor, and looked up at her with a bright smile despite Wednesday glaring at Thing for revealing her secret.
 “Thing, I’m disowning you. I specifically said to keep it a secret.” Thing’s expression soured as it looked to the floor. Enid looked at Wednesday with a quizzical look.
 “Secret? Why would you need your birthday to be a secret? We need to celebrate!” Wednesday folded her arms as Enid gave her a big hug. Enid smelled of sickeningly sweet Strawberry Shortcake perfume
 “I don’t see the importance of birthdays. They’re loud, pointless, and exhausting.” Wednesday stepped back from Enid’s hug and took a seat on her bed. Enid quirked her lip as she thought for a big.
 “Exhausting, huh? Well, are you exhausted right now?” Enid asked. Wednesday thought for a moment. A nap in the catacombs did sound promising. Her parents have been blowing up her devices to wish her well, and that’s been punishing enough.
 “Well, actually yes. I suppose I am.” Enid’s grin turned sinister as she sat on Wednesday’s bed and wiggled her fingers in her direction.
 “Sounds like you need a pick-me-up~ Considering it’s your 20th birthday, you do need about 20 minutes of birthday tickles, and one more minute for good luck of course.” Wednesday looked down at Enid’s wiggling fingers with a neutral expression, but on the inside she was screaming. Last time she was tickled by Enid it wasn’t...the worse thing in the world. But that didn’t mean she would just ask for it.
 “...You put your hands on me, they get chopped off.” Enid had a knowing expression. Enid and Wednesday both knew that this was as consenting as Wednesday was going to get. Verbally, anyway.
 “Sure, they’ll get chopped off. Matter of fact, let’s make the safe-word ‘Cleaver.’ Sound good?” Pfft. Safe-word. For tickling? How childish-
 Well, that’s what Wednesday was thinking before Enid put her hands on her and started the tickling. Enid started gently skittering her nails around Wednesday’s ears and neck, the fluttering feelings surrounding her head.
 “You can laugh you know. It’s kind of what you’re supposed to do in this situation.” Enid reminded Wednesday. Wednesday didn’t know where to put her hands, so she kept them balled in her lap as Enid skittered her nails down Wednesday’s arms.
 “You’re lucky you get to do this- at ahahall-” Wednesday giggled as Enid strayed past her ribs in her tickling flurry.
 “You’re right, I’m the luckiest wolf in the world~ I get to tickle tickle tickle my stoic raincloud of a roommate and watch her slooowly crack a smile~” Enid was actually a well-versed teaser, she knew how to make Wednesday feel like her skin was crawling.
 “Ah! Ehehenid!” Wednesday squeaked as she fell back into her bed, her arms barely protecting her sides.
 “Aww, you’re just giving it to me aren’t you? You’re not even pushing my arms away or anything~” Enid got on her knees to better lean in to Wednesday. She still gave her plenty of space while her fingers scribbled and sunk into her black suit jacket. For someone so menacing, Wednesday was quite small. Enid could reach down and squeeze the middle of her thigh without having to bend over much.
 “Nohoho! Be quiehehet!” Wednesday’s braids splayed on the bed as Enid started tickling her tummy. Working out wasn’t a necessity for Wednesday, studying took quite a lot of her focus. Due to this, her tummy was modest and not at all hardened with discipline.
 “Why should I? You’re the one making all the noise. What if you disturb the other students with how loud you are? That’d be totes embarrassing...” Enid scritched in Wednesday’s tummy, eliciting more giggles from her dark roommate.
 Enid did have to say, seeing any other facial expression aside from Wednesday’s sour expression was a strange sight. But it was endearing. Wednesday’s laughing face was bright, and she had little wrinkles near her eyes and on her nose when she scrunched her face. Enid started to blush seeing Wednesday in such a giggly state.
 Enid’s fingers started to slow. Wednesday looked up at her as Enid was barely tickling her now.
 “Enid? What’s wrong?” Wednesday asked. Enid swallowed and balled her fist.
 “I um...you just looked really pretty. When you were you know...laughing.” Wednesday sat upright with lightly pink cheeks.
 “...Thank you. You look pretty today too.” Enid looked up at Wednesday with a shy smile. The two girls swallowed their nervousness and gently leaned in to share a small kiss on the lips.
 “Happy birthday, Wednesday.”
Please note that Satisfying Afterburn as a whole is not PG-13 rated and not Wenclair-centric; it's NC-17 and very smutty (yet still canon compliant). This takes place the day after Mayor Walker is murdered, and after both Donovan and Enid cut her off.
This text is subject to change and/or editing before the publication of its chapter.
(Wednesday & Enid, PG-13, F-word & mild cannabis consumption, 888 words give/take (so far))
She tried to whip past Hawte Kewture lest she be reminded of Enid, except that a massive ear worm flew from its temporarily open door and bulleted into her brain as she passed.
To try to avoid owning the responsibility of what happened to him, Macbeth would see himself as a victim of prophecy and fate while ignoring that he still ultimately chose the actions that would lead him down his path of destruction.  There is no question that he was influenced by external persuasion, but Macbeth was also subject to his own faith in the supernatural: there were various “unexplained” happenings contributing to the faith he put in the prophe —
"Homygod!" Enid exclaimed with a barking giggle, covering her mouth as Wednesday's typing suddenly ceased. The easily distracted werewolf had been lying on her bed, scrolling and flipping through her multiple apps instead of working on the history homework she had spread out on her blankets.
"What is it now?" Wednesday was already more than annoyed, having to write a paper on Macbeth for a class she should've already passed and completed last year at one of her previous schools, if not for her sudden transfer. It was a tedious prompt ("What is the role of fate and free-will in the play? Is Macbeth totally at fault for what happens to him?"), and for once, the irony of her answer escaped her as she typed against her hand-written notes.
"Britney Spears just posted an Insta where she told her father to bleep off!"
Wednesday reached for her pipe, which had been freshly filled and forgotten next to Thing. "Aren't we beyond self-censorship, Enid?"
Enid sighed. She didn't like to swear if it wasn't necessary, though that habit was more Esther than Enid. "Do you want to read it, then?"
Wednesday nearly choked on her smoke but expertly recovered. Incompetence in the face of clumsiness would only make her think they were at all alike. "I'd rather eat glass." She squeezed her fingers around her pipe, giving Thing her death stare of disapproval as he seemed to want to take her up on her word. She quite liked her bat wing pipe, custom made for her by their glass-blowing, fire eating cousin, Inácio Itt III.
Enid had longed for another enthusiastic celebrity gossip monger like herself; tempting Wednesday into such a vapid hobby seemed impossible, but she forged on. "She basically told her dad to F off. She told her mom the same thing last month." Enid swore that she could detect a flinch of interest in her roommate's shoulders. "Yanno, she could give you a run for your money in the parental hate department."
Wednesday sincerely doubted that. Besides, 'hate' was the incorrect term. She ran the tip of her fingernail against the curved edge of her bone ashtray. It rested on a turn-of-the-last-century platinum coaster. "What's her net worth?"
"Uh…I dunno, just a sec," Enid's thumbs flew over the onscreen keys. She'd learned not to ask Siri anything in Wednesday's presence after the night she wouldn't stop asking her for BTS lyrics. "According to Forbes, it's sixty million dollars."
Wednesday huffed. "Is that all?"
"That's still a crap ton of money!" The immediate Sinclairs were only worth a mere fraction of that, and Enid was often made conscious of it by the super wealthy kids' constant flashing of their  riches. The majority of the Nightshades and the other vampires in the school could wipe everyone's asses with hundred dollar bills and not break a sweat. 'Sinclair' would never outwardly gape at anyone's things, but she found it hard not to be in awe when she was especially envious of Divina's blue Daisy Spikes; she noticed that Wednesday had them in black, sitting unworn in her closet with her other shoes. "Why, how much are you worth?"
Wednesday didn't want to say what her family's net worth was. Gomez, in his Once in a Lifetime good decision, had ditched his uranium mines for rhodium mines when she was around two years old, after it was clear that there was a glut in the market and its price was plummeting: while at the time of his mine dump and acquisition, uranium fluctuated around fifty dollars per pound, rhodium brought in nearly fifteen thousand dollars per ounce. The price currently hovers around four thousand per ounce, but just a couple of years ago their "small" haul of four tons brought their overall wealth to about four billion, half of which was put into trusts for Wednesday and Pugsley. Needless to say, the Addamses were very comfortable billionaires, though they tried not to flaunt it.
"Why did she tell them to fuck off?"
"Oh…you know, that whole conservatorship thing. People think Britney's finally letting loose after feeling caged for so long."
Whether it was all in her head (which it often was), Wednesday at times felt like she too was trapped under her parent's thumbs. Perhaps not under a strict, brain-stunting conservatorship, but their lack of engagement and Morticia's backhanded compliments felt like a prison of its own.
But she would also be damned if she let herself be compared to Britney fucking Spears. Her one and only outlet for feeling like a normal human was probably stubbornly still at the station working when he should be at home resting up after their long session in Burlington. She shook her head and started typing again.
– prophe…cies –
"Hit me baby one more time," Enid whisper-sang terribly as she flipped through the pop star's Instagram. She looked up to see Wednesday's murderous eye and stopped. "Ohmigod, I'm so sorry."
Too late. It was in Wednesday's head now, and the best she could hope for was that a lyric or two didn't make it into her paper.
And now the song clanged in her brain as she desperately tried to chase it away...
Y/n: Are you sure this is how you want to spend your birthday?
Today was Wednesday's birthday, Friday the 13th, and despite Enid's persistent ideas about having a party, you and Wednesday found yourselves in the school's fencing classroom.
She had instead wanted to spend the night with you fencing; which you found both sweet and absolutely terrifying.
Wednesday: Backing out already, my love?
She asked with a rare smirk as she studied her blade.
Y/n: Not a bloody chance, Wends. Happy birthday.
You smiled at her before you lowered your face guard and raised your sword to meet hers. After a nod to each other, you both began your duel.
June 28th, Enid’s birthday
Wednesday: Alright, Viper, Lupin, Roku. Are you three ready? Your mother will be home any minute now.
Viper, 6: Born ready!
Four year old Lupin nods aggressively, three year old Roku joins in too.
Wednesday: Viper, go get the cake. I’ll make sure she doesn’t bust through the door while were hiding.
Viper runs off into the kitchen, returns with the cake and hands it to Lupin, who starts heading upstairs with Roku in tow.
Wednesday: You ready Viper?
Viper shakes herself, and transforms into a wolf pup, she yips and runs off upstairs.
Wednesday smirks, silently stepping toward the window, seeing Enid step out of the car.
She slinks back into the shadows, and waits.
Enid, stepping through the door: I’m home!
Enid pauses, looking around: Wednesday? Lupin? Viper? Roku?
Enid now stepping toward the kitchen: Hello?
Wednesday darts from her hiding place, sneaking behind Enid’s back.
Enid, whipping around: Wednesday?
Enid:
Enid, now concerned: Come out guys.
Enid steps further into the house, taking a left into the kitchen: Guys..?
Wednesday darts upstairs, and into the pitch black room that everyone is hiding in.
Wednesday, whispering: Shhh, shes in the kitchen. Be ready to put on your scariest faces.
The kids, giggling: Okay!
Enid, now stepping up the stairs cautiously: Guys? Come on out now, I can smell you all.
Wednesday stands, gently taking the cake from Lupin and placing it on the bed.
Wednesday: Remember how I taught you all to make your eyes glow?
The kids nod, straining their faces and causing their eyes to illuminate.
Wednesday: Good, now just stare at the door.
Enid steps closer to the door, placing a hand on the knob: Are you in here?
Enid opens the door, and freezes when four pairs of eyes land on her.
Enid stares, her face going pale. Vipers brightly cyan colored eyes, Lupins forest green eyes, and Rokus blood red eyes all stare uncomfortably at Enid.
Wednesday blinks, her own jet-black eyes illuminating a midnight blue against the darkness of the room.
Enid, without breaking eye contact, shambles for the light-switch.
As the lights flick on, the children giggle and smile from ear to ear, holding the birthday cake with a large, “Happy Birthday Mom” sprawled on it.
Enid, sighing the biggest exhale of relief: I almost shit my pants.
Wednesday: We could see that.
However, she wears it all the time. One day, when she comes into her dorm, she finds the necklace missing and practically hunts down the whole school to find it. Wednesday almost kills someone to get it. Reader sees her acting crazy to find something, and when she asks what it is, she has no choice but to tell her. It ends cute with fluff at the end
I can't write it myself, so I need help❤️
Pairing: Wednesday Addams X reader
Advertising: fluffy, wednesday cry
Author: sorry for this end
"Happy birthday, Wed," I say with a small smile on my lips.
We were at the only café in Jericho, celebrating Wednesday Addams' 17th birthday. Enid had dragged her there, promising the gothic brunette that it wasn't a birthday party but something strange she wanted to show her.
As soon as Wednesday walked into the café and saw her friends—Thing, Xavier, Eugene, Tyler, and Enid's boyfriend—she shot a glare at her roommate.
"I told you no party," she hissed, but Enid beamed at her.
"This doesn't count as a party," Enid replied, trying to reassure her.
With a resigned sigh, Wednesday approached the table.
"Happy birthday, Addams," Xavier said, grinning ear to ear.
Wednesday didn't even respond.
Wednesday's brown eyes locked onto mine, staring intensely as if trying to read my thoughts.
"I thought at least you wouldn't be involved," she murmured slowly, coldly.
Embarrassment flushed my cheeks.
"It was Enid's idea," I quickly apologized, blushing deeply under Addams' accusatory gaze.
"You know I hate birthdays," Wednesday said, unfazed.
"Think of it as an event bringing you closer to death," I suggested, shivering slightly.
Wednesday raised an eyebrow, considering it for a moment. "Interesting perspective. Though death is the only event I eagerly await, it doesn't make birthdays any less... unbearable."
I smiled shyly, trying to lighten the mood. "Well, at least you have an excuse to receive gifts."
"I detest gifts," she retorted, a touch of coldness in her voice. "They're just useless symbols of unwanted affection."
"I know," I admitted, briefly looking away. "But sometimes it's nice to receive something just because someone cares about you."
Wednesday stared at me intensely, as if trying to read between the lines of my words. "Feelings are overrated," she declared, but there was a slight hesitation in her voice.
The brunette walked slowly towards me and sat down next to me. Wednesday's Notes of Amber and Wood perfume reached my nostrils, and I almost closed my eyes in appreciation.
Enid approached us with enthusiasm, her blue eyes shining brighter than usual."Happy birthday, Weddy," the blonde chirped, almost screaming. I smiled tenderly, watching as Enid rushed towards Addams and hugged her quickly.
Wednesday closed her eyes, enduring her friend's affection.
"You don't mind if we got you gifts, right?" Enid almost asked with guilt, and Wednesday sighed loudly.
"No," she muttered through gritted teeth.
I chuckled timidly, and Wednesday kicked me under the table, silencing me and making me bite my lip hard from the pain.
"I think the whole school knows that you are a girl who likes things like death and torture..." Enid begins shyly.
"Too much," Xavier comments amused.
"So Ajax and I wanted to give you this," says Enid nervously, handing over a package wrapped in black paper.
Wednesday took the package with deliberate slowness, carefully observing every detail of the wrapping. With a precise motion, she slid a nail along the edge of the black paper, meticulously peeling off the adhesive tape. She didn't tear the paper but opened it carefully, as if performing a ritual. Finally, she extracted the contents revealing a romantic novel.
She looked up in confusion and stared intently at the blonde.
"We thought it would be torture for you to read it," the blonde said, and Wednesday smiled imperceptibly.
"Thank you," she said seriously.
Other gifts followed: Tyler gave her a coupon to order her favorite drink for free for a week, Eugene a jar of honey, and Xavier a book on various torture methods.
Wednesday glanced at me sideways, and I shrugged indifferently. I tried to hide my nervousness and continued to maintain eye contact with Wednesday. The latter, seeing nothing strange, returned to look at her friends.
I sighed with relief: I wanted to give her the gift later without anyone around.
At midnight, Wednesday's birthday party had officially become unbearable for the birthday girl, and she asked to return to Nevermore. We walked silently towards Wednesday's and Enid's room, although the latter had gone to sleep with Ajax.
Silence surrounded us, and the gift I had in my pocket burned with each passing second.
I wiped my sweaty hands on my pants and swallowed loudly.
"What's wrong with you?" Wednesday casually asks in front of me.
How did she notice?
"Nothing," I mutter timidly, nervously chuckling.
We arrive in front of her room door, and the brunette turns to look at me curiously. My eyes fix on her face illuminated by the faint moonlight, making me blush recklessly. I had feelings for Wednesday for some time now and hoped Addams wouldn't notice.
"When you laugh in this way you hide something," Wednesday says seriously.
Damn.
"Um..." I start nervously, my heart beating fast against my chest.
"I also have a gift for you," I say timidly.
"Y/n/n," the brunette whispers.
"It's nothing," I immediately justify, knowing Wednesday's general dislike for gifts, especially fancy ones.
I take the small box out of my pocket and hand it to Wednesday, trembling slightly.
Wednesday takes the box with the same meticulous care she applies to every gesture. Her long fingers delicately grasp the adhesive tape and peel it off with surgical precision. The paper unfolds under her hands like petals of a blooming flower, revealing the content. Her cold, calculating brown eyes rest on the black necklace with the tiny miniature dagger.
Despite her habit of hiding emotions, for a brief but intense moment a spark of interest passes through her eyes. Her expression doesn't change, but there's something in the tilt of her head, in the way she holds the necklace between her fingers, that suggests a subtle almost imperceptible appreciation.
"It's... an innocent gift, I swear," my cheeks turn red. "It's an old family heirloom," I justify.
Wednesday looks up from the gift and stares at me intensely. Her face is a mask of impassivity.
She says nothing but moves closer and hugs me timidly, a surprisingly tender gesture for her. The contact makes me hold my breath, and my heart seems to want to explode from my chest. Then, with a light movement, she kisses me on the cheek.I stand still, almost incredulous at what just happened.
Wednesday withdraws, her face still impassive but with a slight warmth in her cheeks.
She was embarrassed.
"Thank you," she murmurs. Then she puts the gift in her pocket and enters her room, closing the door behind her.
I stand there for a moment, trying to process everything. The silence of the hallway envelops me, but inside me, I feel a whirlwind of emotions. I bring a hand to my cheek, still warm from Wednesday's kiss, and smile shyly.
(...)
Days passed slowly, turning into months, and Wednesday remained the enigmatic and somewhat peculiar figure typical of the Addams family.
Despite the time that had passed, I had never seen her wear the necklace I had given her. Initially, I felt disappointed, but then I realized I couldn't blame her. Perhaps I had overstated its importance, making it something too sophisticated and not suited to her style. Maybe for her, it was simply an object of little interest, if not outright distasteful.
I didn't reveal my disappointment because I harbored deep feelings for her. I wanted to continue being her best friend, as I always had been, even though my heart sometimes fluttered in the face of her coldness.
One day, Wednesday's behavior took a completely anomalous turn, and I began to worry seriously about her.
I saw her walking through the school with palpable agitation, scrutinizing every corner, lifting vases, and searching through the garden's grass and fountain. It was clear she was searching for something with an almost frightening determination.
I was so worried that even Enid, usually impassive in the face of Wednesday's eccentricities, seemed unsettled. When I finally managed to talk to her, Enid confided that Wednesday had literally torn apart their room, searching everywhere with excessive fury.
"I swear, y/n, it was terrifying," Enid told me nervously. "I simply asked what she was looking for, and Wednesday yelled at me and pushed me out of the room," she continued, her voice trembling, "and if I had insisted, she would have killed me," she concluded, terrified for her life.
Enid quickly waved goodbye and walked away from me, probably wanting to escape Wednesday's wrath.
It was clear that something serious was happening.
I couldn't understand what could have triggered such a reaction in Wednesday, but the anxiety was starting to affect me too.I decided to walk towards Addams' room, eager to talk to her and understand what was going on.
As I approached, I noticed something glinting in a corner, behind a statue. I raised an eyebrow with curiosity, cautiously approaching. It was the necklace I had given Wednesday.I picked it up and carefully put it in my pocket.
I wanted to meet Wednesday and try to understand what was happening. I also hoped she could give me explanations about why she had thrown away the necklace I had given her; she could have at least returned it.
I walked towards Wednesday's room and raised an eyebrow in confusion, seeing the door half-open, accompanied by a deafening noise coming from inside.
I opened the door slowly and found myself facing a scene of total chaos: overturned beds, the desk turned over with scattered objects everywhere, clothes strewn on the floor, papers scattered everywhere.
I even saw a T-shirt on the window.
It was such complete disorder that it left me speechless for a moment, wondering what could have caused all this in Wednesday's usually tidy room.
Wednesday was hunched over her bed, with Things by her side. "No, Things, I don't care if we've already looked under the bed, help me," she said desperately.
What on earth was she looking for?
"Wednesday?" I called out in confusion.
The gothic girl tensed slowly and turned to look at me. I widened my eyes seeing her bloodshot eyes, mascara running down and marking her cheeks.
She had been crying.
I immediately approached her; why she had thrown away the necklace didn't matter to me now.
Wednesday looked at me with seriousness and anguish, her arms wrapping around my neck in a suddenly needy embrace. The warmth of her body made me shiver, a sensation contrasting with the intensity of the situation.
"Enid told me you were looking for something..." I said, my voice muffled by her embrace."Why didn't you tell me?" I added gently, trying to understand what was troubling her so deeply.
"I could have helped you," I added with a smile that I hoped would reassure her.
Wednesday withdrew slightly and looked at me with eyes reflecting palpable sadness.
"I didn't want... to disappoint you," she confessed, lowering her gaze.
"Why?" I asked, confused and curious about her thoughts.
Wednesday seemed to struggle with herself, a visible conflict in her gaze. After a long moment of silence, she decided to reveal the truth.
"I lost your necklace," she admitted, avoiding my gaze and staring at her shoes with evident discomfort.
So that's what she was looking for...
I smiled broadly and chuckled to myself, confusing Wednesday. The gothic girl stared intensely at me, her eyes darkening at my demeanor, visibly annoyed. Without saying a word, I pulled out the necklace from my pocket, and Wednesday's eyes widened in surprise.
"Where did you find it?" she asked curiously, her tone serious."Behind a statue," I murmured timidly, smiling at the brunette girl.
" I thought you had thrown it away... After all, I've never seen you wear it," I confessed shyly.
Wednesday took the necklace and turned her back to me, moving her braids aside and tilting her neck.
"Will you put it on me?" she asked timidly.
I smiled nervously and timidly approached her, my trembling hands fastening the necklace around her neck over the W necklace that her mother had given her.
Wednesday turned around and looked up to meet my gaze.
"I've always had it... I just didn't want anyone to think I really cared," she confessed quickly.
I knew Wednesday wanted to maintain her reputation as the strange girl at all costs, so I wasn't surprised by her choice to hide it. I looked at Wednesday with curiosity, a small smile creeping onto my lips as I noticed her cheeks blush slightly.
I decided to lighten the mood.
"I'll help you tidy up the room," I said timidly, giving Wednesday a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Never do that again," she said, embarrassed.
"What if I do?" I teased, and Wednesday looked at me calmly.
We began to tidy up the room together; I picked up papers from the floor, sorted some clothes where I found a hoodie I had lent her months ago, while Wednesday organized the desk and her bed.
"Y/n?," Wednesday called me timidly.
I turned with the clothes in my hands and looked at her attentively.
The gothic girl seemed nervous."Even though I kept the necklace hidden... I really care about you," she confessed, and I smiled broadly.
I kept smiling, even though a part of my conscience devilishly whispered that Wednesday was only doing it as a friend. But if she allowed me to be close to her, I would accept it anyway.
"If you lose it again, let me know, okay?" I joked timidly.
Wednesday tilted her head, scrutinizing me carefully.
"I won't lose it again, I swear on Nero," she admitted, and my heart skipped a beat at those words.
She had sworn on her scorpion.
"Good," I said embarrassedly, lowering my gaze to hide my blushing cheeks, my heart beating frantically.
Wednesday observed my embarrassment with curiosity.
"Y/n?," she said slowly, breaking the brief silence. "I'm not good with words, but... thank you. For understanding me."
Her voice was calm but loaded with meaning, and I felt a thrill of emotion run down my spine. It was as if she too was struggling with a part of herself that she rarely showed to others.
"There's no need to thank me," I replied sincerely, lifting my gaze to meet hers. "I'm here for you, Wednesday. Always."
A faint smile touched Wednesday's lips, almost imperceptible but full of gratitude. It was a moment of silent connection between us, a mutual understanding that transcended words.
"I know," she finally said, with a hint of seriousness in her voice. "And I... really appreciate all this. You're the only one who truly knows me."
Those words filled me with warmth.
It was perhaps the first time I heard Wednesday express her gratitude so openly, and I felt privileged to have been welcomed into her reserved inner world.
Oh Wednesday... If you knew what I would do for you. Maybe you would finally let me completely into your cold heart.
The albatross
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: when Wednesday pulls you from your slumber to investigate the gates mansion feelings emerge and injuries happen
A/n: I’ve spent so long finishing this fic i think I’m relatively happy with it! Enjoy.
Warnings: Tyler, jealousy, choking, stabbing wounds, hospitals, required unrequited love, dubious ending you decide if we live or die (probably more I’ve forgot)
༺𓆩❦𓆪༻
A violent shaking is what breaks you from your sleep, you’re currently swallowed by three separate blankets with various patterns that keep you tucked nicely into your twin sized mattress on your side of the dorm.
Wednesdays pale face looks down at you, a dead pan expression on her face. And thing sits on your pillow by your face whilst Enid is crouched on your other side watching eagerly, the blonde is the one violently shaking you.
“Y/n, get up it’s girls night!” It’s obvious now that Enid is excited shaking you over the fact that Wednesday pealed not only yourself. but Enid as well for a “girls night”
“Enid stop shaking me!” you bellow, Your body aches in protest against waking up even if it is to hangout with your favourite girls, between school, falling in love with Wednesday and monster hunting, you’ve been more tired than usual.
“Sorry” Enid rubs the back of her neck bashfully and it’s only then do you realise that both Wednesday and Enid are wearing their matching snoods and you close your eyes again fully prepared for the werewolf girl to throw your matching snood over your head and pull you along and out of the spiderweb window to the balcony. It was definitely past curfew.
And it doesn’t come as a surprise when Enid does pull out your bright purple snood and pulls it over your head “come on y/n!” Enid squeals her feet tapping against the wood flooring excited to celebrate Wednesdays birthday,
And the aforementioned girl Who has been quietly watching the scene by your bedside the gloomy girl with an out of place hand knitted snood and an hilarious grumpy look on her face but her brown eyes sworm with schemes and you’re fully aware this will not be a normal “girls night.” When was anything normal with Wednesday.
-
You’re proven right when you’re forced out your room in the dead of night to “take Enid to the lupin cages” so the adults think but really Wednesdays leading you out the nevermore gates to a beat up car that you unfortunately know to be Tyler’s.
He seems alright for a normie but the jealousy that stabs your heart whenever you see him and Wednesday together only serves to be a painful reminder that no matter if the boy gives you a free coffees you still can’t bare to be in his presence.
What’s worse? Is you can tell the boys got a raging crush on Wednesday.
But You’d follow Wednesday to the ends of the earth even if that meant coming face to face with the monster that just so happens to be terrorising Jericho.
Opening the door and sitting in the back seat Wednesday having long been sat in the passenger seat Enid takes her place by your side In your matching snoods. The excited look dusting her face drops at the inclusion of Tyler.
“He’s our Uber driver?” Enid sighs her eyes flickering to Wednesday
“Uber driver? I thought we were going on a date”Tyler says pointedly looking between the two of you in the back to Wednesday sitting nonchalant in the passenger seat
You feel a stab of hurt pass through you the girl was supposed to go on a date with him? but you remind yourself she blew him off for you and Enid.
It’s silly, you don’t have some claim over Wednesday she’s a free woman, and besides she’d definitely never allow anyone to have any claim over her in the first place.
And by the way she behaves with her parents she doesn’t seem to be all that into romance, unlike you and Enid who spend every Tuesday binging new romance movies.
In your thoughts you barely notice Enid frown beside you “I thought this was girls night out” the girl sulks looking at you for backup and you can’t stop the yawn that forces itself from your throat but you place your hand on Enid’s hand to reassure the girl, before you turn your attention to Wednesday for some answers, Enid and Tyler follow suit.
Wednesday gives you nothing more than “there’s been a change of plans” not even sparing a glance at you all, sighing you rest your back against the seat as Tyler asks the girl in the dim yellow light of the car
“What’s up with the matching hoodie scarf thing?”and before you can answer the boy Wednesday in the front seat murmurs
“Don’t ask just drive”
And just like that you, Enid, and Tyler have been yet again roped into Wednesdays plans but part of you doesn’t mind it. it means you’re close enough with the girl for her to want your company.
But Between the stuffy snood, and your romantic competition. It’s very difficult to be stuck in the same car as the guy who Wednesday kind of likes tolerates.
You clip your seatbelt in and sulk beside Enid in the back seat
So you watch as Enid sighs and clips in her seatbelt and Tyler rolls his eyes in the drivers seat a hint of annoyance but mostly fondness clouds his vision as he starts the car
“So where too?”
And with that Tyler takes the three of you to an abandoned house in the woods with a creepy gate and you can’t stop the thought that passes your mind that this is so Wednesday.
You may have been upset at the disturbance to your sleep schedule but you were doing it for Wednesday so it was less bad as long as her dark eyes watched you, you couldn’t care less about sleep, or trespassing.
The only thing important to you was making sure Wednesday didn’t get herself killed. (although she’d probably like that) you couldn’t stand to see her die.
“Okay this isn’t what I signed up for.” Tyler’s hands shake beside Enid and the smaller girl looks terrified by his side as she exclaims a tentative “ditto”
a thought passes over you Tyler would be a nice friend to have if he wasn’t in love with Wednesday. Even if he’s chickening out on exploring a house.
“I didn’t want to celebrate my birthday by a surprise party or dinner, I want to do this.” Wednesday explains like it’s obvious as her fingers make fast work at picking the locked gate.
“You should’ve just said so, you didn’t have to trick us” Tyler’s voice of softer now, kinder. and you know he’s like you. Bewitched by the girl and your hands twitch by your side screaming at him to just leave you alone with Wednesday. Just go! Your shadows reach out closer to Tyler in anger before blending back into the ground.
pushing against the metal gate of the gates mansion, your boots crunch against the ground and you’d shine your flashlight Wednesday brought for you and you’d walk shakily forward. Shadows curling around your feet for comfort
The darkness and abandoned house unnerving you, it was ironic to be able to control shadows and the dark still scared you. but you took a deep breath & sucked it up anyway you vaguely heard Tyler behind you ask Enid
“Does she do that often? You know… the shadow thing?” Tyler asked his voice lowering you could practically feel him point at you from behind and despite Enid’s growing fear the girl laughed
“Yes.”
༺𓆩❦𓆪༻
Minutes passed and now the four of you had gotten closer to the house with Enid and Tyler behind yourself and Wednesday “seriously you want to go in there?” Enid looks frantically between the three of you and you shrug your shoulders, Wednesdays made you do worse before.
But you sigh outwardly “if you still want to leave you can.” Your eyes look pointedly at Enid you know she’s softer than you, not that it’s a bad thing but she doesn’t usually like to explore abandoned houses.
“I’m gonna go check out the garage” Wednesday looks thourouhly pleased with herself as she hurry’s down the path quicker
You shake your flashlight and follow beside the girl the chilly night air slaps you in the face as you walk and you’re oddly thankful for your matching snood.
Your heart constricts as you walk past the entrance but you shake the nerves off when Wednesday comes to a boarded up door she can’t pull open, and you slide by the girl “let me try”
You say softly moving her cold fingers from the handle and her fingers twitch to your touch you breath a little shakier at the thought of holding her hand, Wednesday doesn’t look absolutely disgusted by the touch before she realises she’s still holding your hand and she tugs her hand away violently like you burned her.
coughing to cover your embarrassment your hands wrap around the handle and you pull with all your might. it doesn’t budge. Tyler comes up behind you a bashful expression on his face as he passes you his hands replace yours as his fingers wrap around the door and pull and you know it’s useless by the way he sulks away
Enid rolls her eyes before she tries the door and Lo and behold it opens with ease “warewolf strength” she smiles shrugging her shoulders
Tyler shares a look with Wednesday but the girl strides forward shining her torch into the abandoned garage Wednesday flicks the light switch and an old orange light flickers to life
“This is the car that hit the mayor” Wednesday mutters in the corner of your eye you see Enid’s face screw up into one of fear Tyler looks as nervous as you feel
“Well that’s grim” you observe the car through its windows there’s nothing incriminating in it, but regardless you control your shadows to slip inside the car, but still they come up with nothing.
“We need to call Tyler’s dad right now!” Enid cries her eyes welling with tears her pink snood around her head makes her look a bit silly and you fight the urge to pull her into a hug and tell her to go back to the car
“Why so he can take me back to nevermore and get me expelled? It’s not gonna happen.” Wednesday is firm with her words and despite the fearful looks on Tyler and Enid’s faces you can’t bring yourself to back out so you grip your torch tighter and stride forward.
The old house is devoid of any love the surfaces covered in a large layer of dust, the air feels stagnant, and the floor boards creak with every step you take. You find yourself following Wednesday closely behind.
Wednesday shines her torch down every hallway and when finally we get to a large set of stairs Wednesday is dead serious when she says “I think we should split up”
Fear glistens over Enid’s face and Tyler watches the room nervously as you swallow hard splitting up in never a good idea “how about we have another person with us so we aren’t all alone?” You attempt a reassuring smile at Enid before watching Wednesday roll her eyes
“If we must” impatience snapped from the girls tone and just as you cleared two stairs to partner with the girl, a smile growing on your face at the idea of being alone with Wednesday.
“I’ll go with Wednesday!” Enid exclaimed rocking back and forth on her feet and you’d swore you’d kill the girl sending her a sharp glare over your shoulder that said really, Enid? Way to read the room.
Before scoffing rolling your eyes and gripping your flashlight tightly you walked back down the steps in anger
“We should Meet back here if we find anything”Wednesday nodded turning to disappear out of your sight
Anger rolled off your body in waves your shadows darkening the room momentarily as you commanded Tyler to follow the warm glow of your flash light, as it illuminates the various empty rooms, first you were upset at the fact you weren’t with Wednesday and you were even more furious when you were left with Tyler.
In your anger you walked the halls stuck in your head not paying attention to your surroundings until a menacing growl sounded from behind you, you felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up and the air felt like static around you.
Pointing your flashlight in the direction of the growl slowly your faced with a hedious monster its eyes big and bug like bulging from its head, and it’s massive body stalking towards you. It made the first strike of fear ripple through you, had you been so upset with being stuck with Tyler you didnt hear him get attacked?
“Tyler!” You cried eyes still locked onto the monster when you heard no response your cold hands wrapped tightly around your flashlight and you took off running in the opposite direction.
The sound of growls and thundering footsteps only meters from you made your heart constrict and your lungs burn with effort ducking your head to dodge claws you sped through room after room corner after corner your legs burning from effort that would still not be enough
“Wednesday!” You shouted as loud as you could hoping that your voice terror filled and trembling would reach your friends upstairs and motivate them to save themselves.
Your feet still slammed against the floor of the house as you ran the sound of breaking glass and falling bookshelves sounded behind you from the Hyde.
Your shadows gripping the Hyde’s legs and holding its legs down to prevent it from catching up but they did nothing more than momentarily annoy it. The Hyde’s growl of anger echoes the house
I will not die today.
You repeat like a mantra over and over turning sharply into a bedroom, the room you had just stumbled into had no exits aside from the door you just came through that happened to be blocked by the Hyde’s body
Shit shit SHIT!
Backing up as far as possible to the back of the room there was so escaping this, this would be where you die.
Tears began to burn your waterline sliding down your cheeks you had no idea why the Hyde was watching you like you were foreign or why it was taking so long to just kill you when your legs hit a desk and your hands slipped to the top of it scrambling to find something to arm yourself with, whilst still keeping your eye on the Hyde. you found a small, sharp. letter opener. slipping it up your sleeve a new found determination filled you.
“Come and get me.” You sneered your eyes narrowing and shadows darkening the room menacingly. You were no longer stuck in the room with the Hyde. It was stuck in a room with you.
And as if on que the beast stormed forward its huge clawed hand had gripped your body in a tight hold and squeezed like you were nothing.
Screams of pain filled the room the Hyde’s grip was enough to put painful pressure on your bones enough to stifle your breathing gritting your teeth you willed the letter opener to fall from your sleeve your shadows trailing up the Hyde’s legs pulling its huge body downward again before more shadows climbed its body wrapped around its neck and squeezing like the Hyde was doing to you.
Your shadows embedded themselves like sharp claws wherever possible, before stretching to blind the hide and
When its grip slightly faulted you stabbed its clawed hand satisfied by the blood that dripped from its hand as it dropped you rearing back to scream in your face before its razor sharp claws cut through the flesh of your arm and chest.
Slumping to the floor your shadow dissipated as quickly as they came and a mixture of exhaustion from using your power and pain was all that filled your world and before everything went back you could only mutter one word.
“Wednesday.”
༺𓆩❦𓆪༻
There was no telling how long you’d been out for but by the amount blood sticking to your skin it must have been awhile. the overwhelming searing pain of the Hyde’s claws that left these deep jagged lines made you feel sick to your stomach.
The marks ranged from your chest to your shoulder and bicep deep enough to hurt and the leave you covered in metallic blood. But you’d live.
Shuddering your hands gripped the wall to haul yourself up your shoulder screaming in protest holding pressure to your wounds your breaths shaky as you walked through the empty house trying to mask yourself in your shadows but your control left much to be desired especially by the way your body left a trail of blood after you, you were more than happy to reach the garage door.
Shallow breaths filled the air as you walked into the comforting darkness of night god you were happy to be out of that house. Resting your head against a stone pillar out the front you looked at your wound in the silver moon light.
And you felt sick your skin sticky and covered in drying blood it might have been about ten minutes later of you just sitting in pain staring up at the moonlight that Tyler piled out of the garage door and wound on his chest less substantial than yours, but still painful.
You couldn’t help the pathetic sob that left you at the sight of seeing Tyler alive, the guilt of not noticing when he went missing made you feel incredibly bad but you felt so much better seeing the normie alive.
“Oh Tyler!” You cried limping forward to pull the boy into a half hug avoiding your wounds and his wound.
“Hey” the boy greeted shakily holding you tightly you may not have liked him but you were glad he was alive.
“Where’s Wednesday?” You asked as you pulled back looking for any reassurance from the boy
“I don’t know I let them know the monster was in the house but then it got me before I could run after them” the boy fidgeted with his fingers in his lap
“That’s okay I’m sure they’re fine, Wednesdays capable.” You nodded before sinking back down to your pillar you watched the sky the burning in your arm at any movement made you wince, atleast you’re stupid snood survived.
“Here let me” Tyler smiled shedding his shirt to use as a way to stop the bleeding his tan shirt pressed against your wound with a hiss the blood staining the colour darker you felt lightheaded like any moment you’d pass out
“Hey hey hey stay awake” Tyler clicked his fingers in your face putting more pressure on your wound
“What’s going on?” Wednesdays monotone voice said her posture perfectly straight as she watched Tyler get too close for comfort to you
“Y/n!” She sounded concerned by the way she watched your face
“I’m fine, nes just a scratch” you rasped attempting to send a reassuring smile to the girl but before you could suddenly Wednesday was taking you in her arms and commanding Tyler and Enid to hurry up
“We can- we can go to my house patch her up” Tyler said his car keys in his hands and very quickly or what you assumed was very quickly you were back at the car watching the moon from the window your head resting on Wednesdays lap in the back seat
“If you die, I’ll kill you.” Wednesdays voice shook as she held Tyler’s shirt to your wound tears in her eyes and half dazed your blood stained hands ghosted over Wednesdays face wiping a tear away
“I love you” your voice shook and your head swam Delirious from the aching pain of your wound that would surely scar your body. And before you could fight it yours eyes flickered shut your eyes staring into Wednesdays brown eyes with so much love, and so much sorrow she may struggle to feel feelings but by the panic in her eyes there was something deeper than just friendship.
“No no no keep your eyes open” Wednesday panicked barely contained fear dripped from her voice
“Tyler drive faster! Take us to the hospital!” To hell with the potential expulsion Wednesday would face she couldn’t care less. All she wanted to do was save you.
Birthdays were always hard for Enid Sinclair.
Around the age of seven they stopped being days about celebrating her, and became an entire day full of ridicule and insults.
Why had she not wolfed out yet? her eldest brother had done it when he was 5.
It only got worse as she got older.
They never made it a point to talk about her while she wasn’t in the room.
She always heard it.
Maybe that’s why she always tried her hardest to give her friends good birthdays.
Why she threw a party that she honestly should have known that Wednesday wouldn’t have liked.
She wasn’t really all that mad at Wednesday, as much as she was realizing that nobody in her life loved her like she loved them. Wednesday couldn’t even act interested, her family couldn’t ever act like they cared about her past her ability to turn into a ‘real’ werewolf.
Enid tried and tried and tried, her entire life she fought to be worthy of love.
Wasn’t this proof? All over again, that no matter how hard she tried it wouldn’t matter?
No
It wasn’t
It didn’t take long for Enid and Wednesday to learn each other. it didn’t take long for them to start seeing what each other needed.
Now Enid wakes up on her birthday in a small house she and her girlfriend had turned into a home together. There is a pretty girl sitting next to her in bed, and a tray of all her favorite breakfast food’s in said girl’s hands.
“Happy birthday, mon amour” Wednesday says softly, before pressing her lips to Enid’s forehead.
They have breakfast in bed, and Enid can tell that Wednesday made the muffins from scratch by the hint of cinnamon that the goth girl claims tastes like cyanide.
Enid braid’s Wednesday’s hair, Wednesday helps Enid with her lipstick. They end up getting it everywhere. Wednesday has to wash her face a third time.
Wednesday takes her shopping, a true feat for the girl who hates color and other people. She only complains twice. She buys Enid everything she wants. It’s the only time a year that Enid lets her get away with that.
They have lunch at the mall food court, not without Wednesday’s insistence that Enid deserves more than gross mall food.
They have an early dinner at a fancy restaurant, one Enid had been talking about trying for months now.
They arrive home to a full house. Banners hung on walls and pastel balloons covering the floor. Friends and family jump out from behind walls and furniture to shout surprise, but they’ve done this for the past five years, it’s not much of a surprise anymore. That doesn’t make it any less sweet.
Enid squeezes Wednesday’s hand, a thank you. As the rest of the Addamses, who had loved Enid from the moment they met her, pull her into bone crushing hugs.
Her friends are next, Yoko ruffling her hair and Divina fixing it for her. Bianca kisses her cheek and Eugene holds her nearly as tight as the Addamses had. She and Ajax preform their ‘secret’ handshake and Enid feels celebrated.
She has it now. Everything that she has ever wanted.
A family.
