in where your boyfriend’s forgetful habits somehow leave you the one being flustered

a/n: i’ve fallen fast and hard for the blue lock boys (specifically isagi yoichi but shh) so here we go but also happy birthday yoichi ily <33

inspired by this scenario: Person A is about to leave for work. Person B asks them if they've forgotten anything, and Person A gives them a kiss. Person B turns red and opens their hand to reveal Person A's keys/wallet/etc., saying 'I meant this, but thanks.'

Isagi was already half way out the door when you called for him, jogging slightly to meet him at the door frame. He was running late as he fell to the temptation of staying in with you for a little longer in bed.

Before he knew it, he had just about 7-10 minutes to leave before he’ll surely be late and as much as he wants to continuously improve his skills for soccer, he does not want to subject himself to whatever punishment would be waiting for him.

Isagi as quickly as he could with his thoughts already so scrambled went through a mental checklist of possible things that he could’ve forgotten.

And whether or not it’s a list comprised of things he has actually forgotten in the past is irrelevant. He ignores the your voice in his head telling him he’s “head empty, only soccer”.

He’s thinks it’s dumb though, because really, you’re the one always on his mind.

Okay, but water bottle? Yes, he nearly knocked off like 3 things off the fridge shelf to get it, but it’s in his bag.

His keys? Yeah, they should be in the pocket of his bag.

His cleats? Should still be in his bag from yesterday’s practice.

Ah! Duh, what else could he be missing?

Tunnel vision seeing nothing but your face, he quickly took a stride forward and wrapped an arm around your waist and used his other hand to cup the side of your face and pulled you into a long kiss.

The squeak that accidentally left your mouth was lost in the kiss as you feel yourself literally melt into your boyfriend’s arms, knees weakening almost embarrassingly quick.

Yoichi deepened the kiss tilting both your heads, as you feel yours spinning, although you aren’t really sure if it’s due to the sudden kiss itself or the lack of oxygen.

The blue eyed male pulls away to be met with your burning face. He smirks slightly at his work and brushes hair from your face, then kisses your forehead gently.

His smile is gentler and more affectionate as he pulls away to look at you again.

“Sorry love, almost forgot your goodbye kiss”

He didn’t think your face could get any redder, but you always managed to surprise him. He watched you fumble with something behind your back, avoiding eye contact, and you slowly pulled out his cleats.

“I-I meant your cleats, but t-thanks...”

Isagi blinked twice in surprise. He was not expecting that.

Getting more flustered due to this silence, you ramble on using the cleats to cover your face.

“B-but not that I mind! Actually, I don’t mind if you do that again later...”

You mumbled the last part, but naturally, your egoist of a boyfriend happened to hear.

His face breaks out into a smile combination that to you seems so Isagi Yoichi being a mixture of smugness and boyishness.

Having enough (not really) of the man in front of you, you shove the cleats into his arms feeling your own mouth break into a grin as he laughs at you.

“Go on you egoist! You’re going to be late! Don’t come running to me when all the boys target you for dragging your practice back!” You playfully chastise as you practically push him out the door, knowing fully well that he’s letting you because he’s much stronger than you.

“I’m going! I’m going!”, your boyfriend laughs out.

You watch as Isagi walks out, leaning against the doorframe as he does so, a gentle smile as you wave when he turns around.

All of a sudden he sends you a cheeky smile, and before you know it, his lips are back on yours. Before you can even kiss back, he breaks the kiss, and runs away from your spot at the door.

You gape at his back as you process what happened.

Never mind being an egoist, what a little shit!

“Isagi Yoichi!”

You’re only met with the light laughter that carries throughout the corridor.

How different Isagi ships would react to Isagi’s birthday

For isagi’s birthday I wanna do something silly and write some headcanons on how different some Yoichi ships would do to celebrate his birthday!

This was gonna have more than three ships originally but I didn’t have any ideas for them 😔 and didn’t want them to all feel similar

All of these will be short and hopefully sweet

Bachisagi:

Bachira is overjoyed by the fact that its his favorite person’s birthday today

He has the day planned out already . They’ll go to the park after eating breakfast. Walk around enjoy the scenery and then they enjoy a big picnic with Isagi’s cake ( that Bachira baked himself) for dessert!

there’s only one problem…. How will he wake Isagi up?

Bachira can’t be his normally loud self when waking Isagi up he has to do something special for his birthday!

After 5 minutes of Bachira just standing there staring at Isagi sleeping he finally wakes up on his own

Bachira panics a little and then immediately jumps Isagi . Downing the birthday boy with kisses and hugs

Isagi can’t think of a better way to start his morning than being bombarded by kisses from his happy little bumblebee 

Kaisagi:

Isagi woke up feeling a little refreshed and a little happy with the fact that it’s his birthday

But his mood immediately gets ruined when the first thing he sees when waking up is Kaiser in all his naked glory

" happy birthday Yoichi " Kaiser says in a sinfully tone with a stupid smile on his face

" Oh don’t look so pissed off already you know how much some people would pay to see the Michael Kaiser naked on their birthday? " the only thing Kaiser gets from Isagi as a reply is a side eye . Trying his best to keep his eyes at Kaiser’s face

" whatever. Today is all about you! Which is why I’m gonna take you out to spoil you <3 "Kaiser says with a big smile on his face… god Isagi wants to punch him so bad… with his lips

"Let’s get this over with " Isagi said trying to act more annoyed than he actually is

Isagi would be lying if he said he isn’t a little interested on what Kaiser has planned for them today

" what? Are we not gonna have some fun first " Kaiser teased adding a wink to make it worse

‘God I hate love him so much ‘

Isagi thought as he thrown the nearest pillow at Kaiser’s face

True to his word Kaiser does spoil him with going to the mall first thing and immediately going to the luxury brands stores in the mall

the best part has yet to come

At some point they were in a fancy Japanese restaurant eating dinner when Kaiser suddenly pulled out a small red box from out of nowhere

" here’s your real birthday present Yoichi "

Isagi took the tiny box from Kaiser’s hand and opened it with a skeptical look on his face 

When he opened Isagi let out a little gasp at what the box contains 

Inside was a gold chained necklace with a beautiful blue rose at the end

" now we can match " Kaiser interrupted isagi’s thoughts as he looks at the necklace in awe

" since when were you so cheesy Micha" Isagi said with a smirk as he holds the jewel up to his neck

" oh shut up you clown you’re lucky it’s your birthday "

Isaness:

" are the pancakes up to your liking Yoichi?" Ness asked with his head slightly tilted " it’s the first time I’ve tried this recipe"

" hm what? " Isagi mumbled . He cant focus on anything with the piece of heaven in his mouth that is in the form of sweet warm pancakes 

" I asked if you liked your birthday pancakes " Ness giggled a little after saying that

" oh! They’re great! More than great they’re the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten in my whole life! Thanks Lex " Isagi’s voice still a little mumbled with his mouth full

Ness giggle a little more after hearing that . Happy to hear that his little Yoichi is enjoying his breakfast

" got any ideas of what to do on your birthday Yoichi?"Ness smiled with hearts in his eyes as he watched the love of his life absolutely devour his pancakes with no mercy  

‘ it’s crazy to think that two years ago I wanted to skin him alive ‘ Ness thought as Isagi downed the last of his orange drink

" OH! Well I actually don’t know .. " Isagi replied as he circled his finger around the rim of his cup

Well we can do anything you want today. I’m at your service " Ness said as he grabbed some napkins to wip Isagi’s face with 

" Lex stop " Isagi protested against Ness’s napkin assault on his face while giggling " honestly… you being here is enough already "

" OH" Ness’s eyes widened. He wasn’t expecting that response " re- really? "

" Yeah … Alexis you being with me is all that I could ever need . You don’t have to do something luxurious be in my service for my birthday. You’re all that i could ever ask for "

Ness was speechless. He was expecting for Isagi to say he wanted to go to an aquarium or a fancy dinner… not this … oh god he’s almost as red as the strawberries that were on Isagi’s plate

" actually.. " Isagi suddenly said making Ness’s thoughts pause " We could watch My Neighbor Totoro together. That’s what my parents did for me on my birthday

" of- of course! Anything for you Yoichi " Ness exclaimed

" Thanks Lex .. I love you "

# birthday twin 🫂🎂

the morning seemed to flow just like water.

you were getting ready to have brunch with friends, leisurely doing your skincare and makeup before starting on your hair. picking your outfit took almost no time as you had an idea of your options from looking through your closet the night before.

a light colored sundress with small embroidered flowers was what you ended up choosing. not something you wore often but you thought you'd try to look good for your friends at the very least.

"you sure you don't want me to drive you?" a sleepy voice mumbles.

you're busy rifling through the jewelry box atop your vanity, but you look over your shoulder to respond.

isagi is sprawled across your mattress, buried under the blankets and looking quite cozy.

"no, baby, my ride's almost here. besides, you should rest before your afternoon plans, i remember how late you got in last night." you assure him.

you find the pieces you were searching for right before you phone vibrates in the pocket of your dress. your friend must be outside.

you move to stand in front of your boyfriend and lean down to kiss his forehead.

"happy birthday, baby. have a fun time with the guys, okay?"

isagi catches your wrist in his hand before you can stray too far. "happy birthday, hope you have the best brunch." he replies, kissing the back of your hand softly.

"you're so pretty," he says as you reach the bedroom door, "my girl."

it takes everything you have in you to go to brunch.

the next time you see your boyfriend is in his parents dining room. both sides of your family had planned an elaborate joint birthday dinner, graciously hosted in the isagi household.

he's dressed sharply, a button down with the sleeves rolled up and slacks with his hair pushed up and away from his forehead, likely due to his mother's insistence.

you've done an outfit change as well, trading the sundress for a flowy blouse and your "good" jeans.

isagi has you in his arms as soon as you get close enough. "you look nice," you say, greeting him with a kiss.

"you can thank my mother," he replies, hands settling against your lower back.

dinner with your families is a lovely affair. the food is delicious and the conversation is lively. and even though you and yoichi had insisted on no cake, his father picked one up anyway. "it's nice to have cake on someone else's birthday!" your nieces and nephews faces are of course covered in frosting moments after the group sings happy birthday.

it's dark out by the time you and isagi stumble into your shared home.

"i can get everything set up in the living room, could you just grab me a change of clothes please?"

soon, you're seated on your living room floor squished against your boyfriend. a small red velvet cake sits in front of you with two candles, as well as a bottle of champagne. the tv show the two of you were currently binging was playing across the screen.

"i still think we should have got a different cake flavor."

you gasp in offense, "yoichi this is my favorite cake flavor! we had yours last year."

he sighs before leaning over to light the two candles. "okay, you're up. make a wish, babe."

you think for a moment before closing your eyes and blowing one of the candles out. isagi follows suit before pulling the candles out.

you feed each other forkfuls of cake between laughter and sips of champagne.

later when the episode comes to an end and you're more curled into isagi's side than you were earlier you think about how grateful you are.

as if reading your thoughts isagi says; "i love sharing a birthday with you."

you lock eyes with him and feel as if you're about to start sobbing, "i love sharing a birthday with you too, baby."

the rest of the night is spent sharing kisses and quiet comfort, in you and isagi's little corner of the world.
