WAIT BIG BRAINED THOUGHT:
Sam does smth stupid hoping Dean won't find out.
Someone rats Sam out to Dean.
Sam gets in trouble and a lecture from Dean (bc Dean is a parent and he is Sam's parent I will not accept criticism on this matter).
Later, Sam makes a group chat consisting of everyone who could have told on him to Dean and just sends this video:
#supernatural#spn#dean winchester#sam winchester#dean winchester is sam winchester's parent#and i will be accepting NO criticism on this matter!!!!#dean raised sam and in my heart i just know that its smth they dont really talk abt but they both 100% know and acknowledge it#and sam (the annoying little brother/kid) that he is to dean definitely calls dean 'mom' sometimes especially when hes being a little shit#but sam also loves his big brother and appreciates everything deans done and given up for him#so every year dean gets a pie and a little homemade card on mother's day and father's day from sam#when they were younger sam would give dean the card and actually say 'happy mother's/father's day dean' but once theyre older sam starts#sneaking the pie and card into dean's room or leaving them somewhere he knows dean will find them and neither of them say anything but dean#always gives sam a soft smile and usually a hug too before they continue w/ their day like its any other#the year dean spends w/ lisa and ben while sam's in hell/running around soulless ben makes dean a father's day card and dean gets all teary#and thanks him but then later when hes alone he just breaks down sobbing bc it just remimds him that sammy is gone#even when sam was at stanford and not really talking to dean he still sent dean a short message (text email voicemail whatever) on mother's#and father's day but now hes gone and dean wont even get that#btw dean def saves all of the cards sam's made him over the years and once theyre in the bunker he keeps them all in a special box that he#hides under his bed and he'll pull it out and look through them when hes having a bad day alongside the box of pictures <3#i did not mean to go insane in the tags here but oh well#enjoy my silly post and unhinged rambling ig

A Eulogy and Obituary for Dagny Ayn September 13, 1978 -- February 2023.
Tumblr media
I am devastated beyond words to share that the wonderful Dagny Ayn (who you may know as daynz or meta_castiel on twitter) is no longer with us. Her sudden passing is a shock and the urge to speculate on details is understandable, but I hope we can focus on her light instead, because Dagny doesn't deserve to have her life defined by how it ended. Dagny did not receive the recognition of her life and memorialization of her existence that she deserved out in the real world, so I thought to give it to her here, as well as create a place for those of us who loved her to come together and grieve, to share about her memory as we should.
Dagny was here. Please read and celebrate her life with me.
To do it online seems right. I truly believe Dagny would approve. The online Supernatural fandom (and especially the Destiel-friendly spaces), served as her community, her chosen family. Like so many of us, fandom was her life vest, her social circle, her escape from the harshness of the non-virtual world, and the source of most joy in her life. To anyone who knew her, it was no secret as to how much Dagny loved this little corner of the internet.
On a personal note, Dagny was one of the first people I connected with after joining the fandom, and we immediately bonded over our mutual love for Buffy and Supernatural. Especially Willow/Tara, Misha Collins, Castiel, and Destiel. We shared many similar life struggles, from past trauma and complex parental relationships to mental health and disability challenges to a lack of IRL support and chronic loneliness.
The friend group I shared with her and @coinofstone was one of the safest places I have ever known. Talking to Dagny never failed to leave me feeling heard and understood. I hope I was able to do the same for her.
Dagny was strong. Despite the many obstacles life constantly hurled in her direction, she was always looking forward and moving towards the future. She saw the best in people, even those who failed her, those who didn't deserve her grace and forgiveness. She loved her mother more than anything in the world, and Chelsea, her cat, a very close second.
Tumblr media
(she would definitely want me to show you Chelsea!) When Dagny's mother and main support system passed unexpectedly in recent years, Dagny was handed a new armful of struggles and asked to face an uncertain future without the person she loved most and with barely enough resources to survive. She was uprooted from her home and moved clear across the country, losing so much in the process and dropped in a precarious situation. Despite all of that, she had big goals for herself. She was working hard to build the life she wanted despite a major lack of family & IRL support as well as her own demons.
Dagny was amazing at appreciating the simplest things. A free coffee at Tim's, some stickers in the mail, or a small windfall that allowed her to purchase a meal kit from the grocery store would brighten her entire week and she would gush about how happy she was for days. When she first moved cities after losing her mom, she talked about how thrilled she felt to have big windows and a view of the city, as she'd lived in a basement walkout for years. Her enthusiasm for those things, even in the face of great struggle, was always humbling and contagious.
Dagny was easy to love.
As for fandom, Dagny especially loved Misha, Castiel, and Destiel, and did so fiercely. She read tens of thousands of words of fanfic every day, frequently messaging me from the bus to complain about rowdy passengers "interrupting her gay porn". One time, she lost her phone and worried to me (from her laptop) about losing her entire collection of fanart, 100+ AO3 tabs, and the SPN-related photos she had saved, unconcerned about the actual phone and her ability to contact IRLs.
With what little extra money Dagny had (and how infrequently she could be convinced to treat herself), she enjoyed collecting fandom merch, especially items made by her favorite fan artists. She ALWAYS had a Destiel case from redbubble on her phone! Her Ace pin from Stands was a treasured item.
Dagny greatly admired Misha's missions and charity work very much, following GISH closely and always striving to share and his boost campaigns and those of other cast members. She would often express that she wished she could do or donate more, even while she struggled to provide bare essentials for herself. Dagny was selfless like that.
As full as her phone was with saved memes, cast photos, Castiel/Destiel art, and fanfic links, it was equally brimming with people who loved Dagny herself. She often expressed how happy and connected seeing notifications on her social posts made her feel, how loved she felt by her friends and fellow shippers.
Discovering the Ace spectrum through fandom empowered Dagny to feel confident in expressing her identity, allowing her to name and define a feeling and concept she could never quantify before. She felt very strongly about wearing her Ace pride on her sleeve. We spoke many times about the power of fandom and online community to turn shame and confusion into confidence and love, and Dagny truly embraced that concept. She was a wonderful role model for embracing your true self.
Dagny had many hopes for a bright future. She was trying to find a job and gain more financial independence, and she had a whole plan to do so. She was smart and motivated. She was also haunted and wrestled constantly with demons that just wouldn't let her go.
We talked frequently about finally meeting at an SPN convention, once she was able. One of Dagny's dreams was to have a photo op with Misha as Castiel, and we spent many nights planning excitedly for a theoretical day that we hoped would come. Since then, she fell in love with Heartstopper and dipped into other fandoms and was living her best online life. Dagny had so much room in her heart.
So many things, not the least of which were time and borders, kept us from ever meeting in person, but our friendship was no less real for those barriers.
To Dagny: family doesn't end in blood. Jen and I both love you and choose you back. We know you were here. You made an impact and we'll never forget you. This wasn't supposed to be the end of the road, but you taught me that sometimes life has other plans and there's nothing to do but roll with them.
Until we meet again, my friend. thank you for being you.
If you would like to do something to honor Dagny, her life, and her passions, she would want you to donate to The Castiel Project. It's particularly fitting, as besides being a beloved project to her, Dagny also deserved a happy ending that just wasn't in the cards.
Please feel free to leave your memories and/or love for Dagny here.

Forest Green Eyes
Castiel & Y/N Winchester
Warnings:  Bad family dynamic, abuse, bad language …
Side note: English isn’t my first language.
Words: 1293
Thank you so much for reading my first fanfic.
Hope you like it! I’m planning on making this in different parts.
This story takes place after the SPN finally. Jack asked Castiel to go back to earth to be the guardian angel of Y/N. Cas accepts this task but only to discover that Y/N is the biological child of Dean.
Part 2 online now
-----------------------------

When Jack asked Castiel to talk to him he never would have expected that he would be granted with a task. “Cas, there is a child on earth who needs our protection. "The angel gave Jack a frowned look. “What do you mean?” He asked. “I can’t tell you much now, I only know that this child, Y/N, is special. She is with her family in Texas.” Castiel nodded and flew down to earth to search for the child.
Castiel arrived at the given address, immediately overhearing the parents fighting. “IF THAT IS NOT MY OFFSPRING, I SHOULDN’T BE TAKING CARE THAT BASTART!” Without wanting to interfere Cas made sure to enter the house invisible. He watched as the man hit his wife a crossed her face. He walked past them with a heavy feeling, in search of the kid. As he walked upstairs, passed the main bedroom, in the next room he sees a little baby in their bed. Assuming this was Y/N he picked the kid up and started to sing in Enochian. “That’s beautiful!”.

Castiel turned around to look at the little kid behind him in her bed.  “You can see me?”
“Uhu! Who are you?” She asked while staying seated in her bed, clearly not afraid of the strange men in their bedroom.
Castiel placed the baby back in their crib.  “My name is Castiel, I am...” but the kid didn’t let him finish. “Are you a ghost?” ‘Euhm, no... no, I am an angel. What is your name?”
“ I’m Y/N” she answered with the cutest smile ever seen.

As Castiel walked closer to the kid, he started to feel like he knows her. Maybe in a past life, or maybe this kid was a vessel for another angel. That would explain why she could see him.
“You want to read me a story?” Y/N asked while moving over in her bed “You can sit next to me. My mom and dad never like to read to me. They fight all the time! Sometimes mom has ….” Castiel was listening to every word she said to him and sat quietly down next to her.
Months go by, Castiel is as much as possible around Y/N, she trusts him with every secret.
When she comes home from pre-school and before she has dinner with her family, she runs straight upstairs to talk to Castiel about her day. “Tomorrow is my birthday, Castiel! Do you think mommy and daddy will give me a present?”
Castiel wanted nothing more than to tell her that her parents bought a present and will make that day about her. But he did hear the man say he will never buy a present for “the bastard”.
“ I bet they have a great present for you! What do you want most?” He asked. “ Euhm, a unicorn!” Y/N answered.
So, the next day Castiel went shopping for anything that had a unicorn on it. Books, stuffed animals, balloons, … As he was decorating her room, he heard Y/N coming home and yelling at her parents, this never happened before! “You forgot me today! It’s my birthday and you didn’t say anything!” Before they could answer she ran upstairs.
Castiel stood there not knowing how to react. “Happy 5th birthday kiddo.” He said with a soft smile.
Y/N’s tears streamed down her eyes but at the same time she had a smile from ear to ear.
Without hesitation she hugged the angel’s legs “Oh thank you Castiel, I knew you wouldn’t forget me! Can’t you take me to heaven with you? Can’t you adopt me? Do I really have to stay here?” all Castiel could do was sit down and hug Y/N. I’m sorry kid, but I can be here for you!
10 Years later

Y/N is now 15, Castiel watched her grow up into a troubled teen with a back story. Her “dad” beat her mother up. In the beginning she didn’t really knew better, but as she got older, she realised that her home wasn’t a normal one.
2 years ago, Y/N found out her dad isn’t her biological dad. Her mom had a one nightstand with a guy she met at the bar. When she found out she was pregnant she was already dating your so-called dad. He thought the first few years that you were his but soon noticed that your hair and eye colour didn’t match his nor your moms. One night when he was drunk and aggressive, she confessed. Ever since he treated you as an outsider.
He never laid a hand on you, but you weren’t exactly loved by him. Even your mom started to become more and more distant.
Today you didn’t came home from school on time, you parents weren’t that concerned, but Cas on the other hand went looking for Y/N right away!
First he went to the high school Y/N attended of course no one there. The more he walked around town the more he started to get worried. While he got worried, he started to think.
“She is 15 now, soon 16. She doesn't even know de dangers of this world. Maybe it’s time to teach her. Maybe I need to... God no Castiel stop it. She has you to protect her...
Well I lost her so maybe I'm not a good guardian. What would Dean or Sam do?
Dean... He probably would have bought her, her first gun by now. Sam would have given her every book from the man of letter archive. And what do I do? Wait for her to come home, buy her stuffed animals.

“SON OF A BITCH!”
That’s Y/N’s voice!
Cas ran down the street towards the sound “ Y/N? Y/N, are you ok? I heard you yell”
“Castiel? What are you doing here?” He looked at the now teenager, her lip was busted, and her left eye started to swell. “What happened?” He asked again while looking at her face.
“3 of these older kids at school were picking on a kid from my class. I wanted to help him.
But this asshole hit me and stole my bus ticket.”
“Why didn’t you come home? And why do you need a bus ticket? “He asked while touching her face to heal the wounds. “Well, I was planning on running away.” She said shamefully. “I can’t stay there anymore, Cas.”
“Run away? Y/N why didn’t you tell me? You can trust me.”
“ Oh please Cas, every year for my birthday you ask what I want. And for the last 10 years I asked you to take me away! Away from those awful people.”
Castiel thought for a second “Ok.”
“Ok, what?”
“Let’s go. I will take you away, anywhere you want. But not without clothes or a bag. You at least leave a note for your parents.” He tried to say firm.
“Thanks Cas.” She said while hugging him. Here hair touched his chin and while their hug lasted longer than usual, he could have sworn that for a second... No that’s not possible!
But as soon as she pulled back and he looked in Y/N’s Forest green eyes all he could see was hope, stubbornness and... Dean.

So. The Winchesters episode 1. ↑
The cons:
Editing very choppy and bad. Like, the cut from Millie asking John what he's going to do now to John facing his first demon could/should have been both scary and funny (eg., immediate cut to John getting punched in the face) but just made it feel like a scene was missing. Same with John's flashbacks. Carlos's entrance was fantastic but so rushed it lost impact.
Special effects very bad--overall it looked worse than S1 SPN from 2005. (Loup-garou was just a guy in a suit.) At least early SPN understand that if you have no money you should just make it dark as fuck. Everything's scary when you can't see shit.
Where was Mary's mom, Deanna? With her husband missing and her daughter disappearing for days at a time, you'd think she'd at least get a mention.
Meg Donnelly didn't impress me. (Which is odd since it looks like she has more screen experience than the rest of the cast.) Very flat.
It would have been nice if John decided that "saving people, hunting things" was his destiny after he'd, you know, saved someone. He wasn't even around when the rest of the crew (accidentally, to defeat the monster) saved Ada. He seemed a little too gung-ho and happy about hunting.
Overall Mary and John did not seem like the Mary and John we know...
The pros:
...which is kind of the point, right? They DID, however, feel like Sam (John) and Dean (Mary). Which was enjoyable to watch.
The new characters--Carlos and Lata and Millie--are great. (Clearly Sam's luxuriant hair is inherited from Grandma Millie.) We didn't see much of Ada, so we don't know a lot except that the actress is gorgeous. Carlos is iconic, and I feel like Lata is a new kind of character in SPN. (She's essentially Willow, but that's new for SPN!) And the whole group has a lot of chemistry, both together and in pairs/trios.
I like the idea of the Akreda (sp?)--a very powerful malevolent enemy that ISN'T heaven, hell, or earthly monsters. Hopefully we'll see a little more of the Lovecraftian horror that the mother ship just kind of wasted a few times.
For me, one of the keys to not hating John has been believing that he was fucked up even before the fire from a variety of traumas, and I think we're seeing that (John being a normal guy was one of my fears about the show).
And obviously--it was good seeing Dean again, and I was so happy that the show didn't pin down exactly where in his timeline we were. Specifically, I'm happy that it wasn't explicitly heaven. I know, I know everyone else is probably right and we're seeing Dean after death, but I just feel it would be much easier to retcon the SPN finale out of existence (a djinn dream, an alternate world, a pocket universe created by Chuck) if we don't confirm that Dean (and Sam) are definitely dead. (The green filter on Dean is a possible hint that he's NOT in heaven, since all the heaven scenes are oversaturated and golden.) Let me cling to hope. And I definitely like the hint that Dean is time-traveling and is the one to unravel the timeline by giving John his father's letter.
So overall, I guess I'm with Chuck. Most of the flaws were typical pilot flaws that might improve (even Meg's acting). I'll watch the next few eps at least (maybe even shortly after they air!) and see how it goes.

she waits
𝓲𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓮 - she waits
𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 - parent abandonment, mentions of emotional childhood abuse, tears, pregnancy, happy ending
𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - jules (julianna) benedict (nee holowitz) grew up without a mom after being abandoned by her. she never got over it and still waited for her. and maybe that was why her husband rob benedict was so against his wife's constant want and longing for her mom. this will chronical jules' life when she's a kid, teenager and now an adult with her own family with rob and the spn family.
𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - i love the song "she waits" by supernatural's rob benedict's band louden swain. even though i cannot personally relate to the song since i did not experience either parent abandoning me and my brother, i still love it and think it's a gorgeous song with so much emotional meaning to those who can relate to the song.
masterlist listen to "she waits" here!
- - -
have faith, promises were made. you just take care and behave, you left and now you are saved, the path it walks you away.
julianna shouldn't be upset anymore. it was no longer news that jules' mom left her and emotionally abused her when she was a much younger kid. now as a teenager, it still hurt her feelings when her mom fell through on a promise she had made to her daughter and the rest of her siblings. jules' mom was the best at giving excuses after making countless promises of coming back to her family.
"...c'mon jules, have faith. she promised us...mommy promised us that she'd be here so she has too!" julian, jules' younger brother was so hopeful and it broke jules' heart as she sighed
"i know she promised us julian but bub, she's never ever followed through on these promises," jules sighed as julian sniffled, upset that his older sister was telling the truth
of course, because julian was still young, the youngest of the holowitz siblings, he still had faith and belief in his mom. he still couldn't understand why all his older siblings were so against their mommy. he didn't know why they were always so mad at her and why they'd constantly spew their hate for the woman that gave birth to them and then just left them.
"i know...i just...i just want my momma..." julian cried softly as jules felt awful for the little boy who had no idea why their mother just up and left
"...i know bubba, i do too...i do too..."jules sighed as she picked up her brother and hugged him tightly
just like she was told to do by her dad, jules took care of herself and she behaved. her mom left and she was saved and now the path was left for her to walk it and see where it took her. of course, she'd always wait for her mom, she'd wait for her for eternity but she knew her mom would never come back especially when it was clear that her mom never loved her and the kids she gave birth to. or the man she married. it was clear she wanted a whole new life for herself so, that's what she did. and now, it was up to her now ex-husband to pick up the pieces that were broken forever.
and meanwhile the house is empty, the floors lay naked and weary. the walls, barely hanging on, carry on and she waits for you.
jules never thought she'd see this house again. today, jules was back in houston, texas due to a supernatural convention that was being held there. and because the convention centre was so close to her childhood home, she decided that after the convention, she'd take a quick little drive and check it out. see if it still looked the same or see if her dad had changed it like he had planned to do since the day his wife abandonded the family and his kids. even though she genuinely never thought she'd ever want to see the house again, her ego was forcing her to check it out. just to see if it would still have the painful connotations it did before she decided to leave houston when she was seventeen for hawaii.
so, it shouldn't have surprised her and made her heart physically hurt when she got out of her car and walked to the front door to see the house as it looked now. but it did make her heart physically hurt. the house was empty. the floors laid naked, weary and worn in from all the abuse it had been given by her and her siblings. the walls, were barely hanging on. the wallpaper clearly ripped off so aggressively that it had basically destroyed the walls as well. and even though jules shouldn't think this and hadn't thought of her in years, she still waited for her mom even though she had carried on with her life without her. she still yearned to be loved and appreciated by that woman. if anything, she just wanted to know why. why did that woman decide to marry that man, have all those kids and then just decide one day that she was just going to leave.
sniffling, jules was embarrassed as her husband rested his chin on her shoulder, "...you alright baby?" rob's soft voice whispered behind her as jules held back the sob that was waiting to be heard
"no...i just...i don't get it...i don't understand why we weren't enough for her, you know? were we not good kids? was dad not a good husband?" jules' voice shook as rob sighed, turning his wife around and hugging her properly
"i know babe. i know what it feels like...and i highly doubt it was your guys' fault. i think a hundred per cent it was her fault. you were more than enough for her, the whole family was, and she didn't know how to appreciate that. it scared her that she could have people that loved her and she ran away because she didn't how to deal with it like an adult," rob whispered as jules nodded her head and smiled at her husband
she knew the pain of her husband's own abandonment by his dad and how that affected him. which was why it was so easy for rob to comfort jules when she'd get upset about her mom's abandonment. so she was glad that when she told that side of her to rob, she felt safe knowing that he could relate to her, as depressing and so dependent it sounds, it meant that they both had something traumatic that they could relate to. it was something they could bond over because they knew what it felt like to be abandoned by a parent, by someone who was supposed to love unconditionally and love them.
"yeah...she was probably scared but, why couldn't she just be the one to break the generational trauma? why does it have to be me and my siblings?" jules now felt mad as rob sighed, biting his lip as he shook his head
"i don't know darling but, if you don't break the generational trauma right now, then who will?" rob spoke as jules nodded her head, knowing she couldn't argue with that so she didn't
"no one would. it'll continue happening each generation that's created so, the cycle ends here," jules breathed in heavily as she clenched her fists as rob smiled, feeling proud of his wife
"atta girl. let's go, we don't need to be here anymore," rob smiled as he held his hand out for his wife as the benedicts then left the house that held many a bad memory
last night you left like a bird, fly away and never be heard. the wind, it's cold and absurd but man, you gave her your word.
as jules and the rest of the horowitz family slept peacefully, there was a sudden slam of the front door. this made all the siblings jolt awake as jules clambered out of her bed, down the hall, down the stairs and to the front door whilst the rest of the brothers and sisters fell back asleep. where her father, john horowitz stood as he sobbed. wailing for his wife, hollie-anne horowitz to come back as he opened the door back up again after hollie-anne had slammed it shut. begging for her to not leave him and the family. apologising if he had done something wrong that caused her to up and leave, abandoning their children. and this worried jules. as the third oldest child but first oldest of the girls, she rushed to be with her dad. wanting to comfort him and wanting to know what had happened.
"...daddy? what are you doing? what's wrong?" an exhausted jules muttered as she cuddled up next to her dad at the front door that was opened for the dark early morning hours to see
"ahh...jules, honey! what are you doing here? you should be sleeping!" john sniffled, trying to wipe away his tears before kneeling down to his young daughter's height
"i heard the front door slam, it scared me...where's mommy? was it her that slammed the front door?" jules was scared, sure, her mom wasn't a great mom but that was still her mom and jules adored her mom when she shouldn't be
"yeah honey. it was mommy that slammed the front door..." john whimpered, not even trying to stay strong as jules' eyes started to tear up as well, her dad's big oversized shirt she was wearing as her pyjamas made her look even smaller as john looked at her
"...where did she go? is mommy going to come back?" jules whimpered as her eyes welled with tears and her bottom lip shook as john shook his head, closing his eyes
"i don't think so baby girl. she seemed pretty certain that she wasn't going to come back..." john then shivered, as did jules, the wind cold and absurd for this time of year as hollie-anne vowed to never do the very thing her own mother did to her
"...but...but she promised she wouldn't leave...she pinky promised me she wouldn't do what gma did..." jules' teary voice broke john's heart because he remembered that pinky promise that hollie-anne made with jules when she was actually somewhat of a nice mom
"...i know she did baby girl but...i'm afraid your mom is not good at keeping her pinky promises..." john trailed off as he finally picked up his eldest daughter to bring her back into the house since it was below freezing and it was getting late
but jules wriggled out of her dad's grip and she stepped out to the front porch step where she and her father were not even a minute ago. tears streaming down her small little cheeks as she just looked into the darkness of the houston chill and she waited. she waited as long as she could before john knew better to leave his daughter out of the house like this. bringing jules back inside the house was a struggle but once he picked her up and brought her inside, closing and then locking the front door, she couldn't fight anymore. she was too weak and exhausted, falling asleep out of pure exhaustion of her tears on her daddy's shoulder as he walked them upstairs and into daddy's room. john knew his daughter wouldn't be able to stomach falling back asleep in her own bed. so, he let his six-year-old daughter sleep in his bed with her for the next four months, right up until she turned seven.
and meanwhile the house is empty, the floors lay naked and weary. the walls, barely hanging on, carry on and she waits for you.
moving into a new house with her boyfriend rob should have excited jules. it was a happy occasion. jules left hawaii to move back to the "mainland" usa and live in los angeles with her boyfriend. however, walking into this new house felt eerily similar to her childhood home back in houston, texas. the one that haunted the adult in her sleep every night. the one that her father and youngest brother julian still lived in. the one that took years for her father to get rid of everything that had connotations to his ex-wife that just left that one evening with no other word of warning but a measly letter that john had later found after jules had finally cried herself to sleep that night that hollie-anne left. but that was exactly it, no matter where jules moved to, every single house she's moved into, it reminded her of her mother. especially when it was a house that was empty, the floors naked with no rugs or carpets or worn in from the years of it being lived in. the walls were new and pristine but to jules, she saw the walls in the same way she saw herself, barely hanging on.
"...jules, babe, you need to stop doing this every time we move houses. you're slowly killing yourself by thinking everywhere we go is houston and your mom..." rob sighed, feeling bad that his girlfriend felt like this because he knew exactly what it felt like, he too had a parent abandon him
it was his dad that abandonded rob and his family but, he still knew what parental abandonment felt like. he had to live with it and still lives with it every single day but, he doesn't let it constantly control his life. he wasn't doing what jules does which is every new place they move into, bring in the memory of her mother that left.
"...i know i need to stop but i...i just can't! i don't know how!" jules sighed as she plopped herself onto the new velvet couch - which, when she really thought about it, was definitely nothing like the couch she had in her childhood home in houston
"yes you do, jules, you just don't want to stop it. and i know that because i did the same thing for a little while too but, i eventually stopped it because i realised i knew how to stop it, i just didn't want to because i thought if i stopped bringing my dad into every situation that my world would end. but, as soon as i stopped bringing dad into everything and waiting for him, my life became better and i didn't think of him everywhere i went. and i was so much happier knowing that i could live without him and that i no longer had to wait for someone who was never going to come back..." rob was exhausted, not of his girlfriend but of the pain she was putting herself through every single day
rob really did love jules but he didn't love that she couldn't let go of the woman that abandoned her. all because somewhere inside of her, there was still the little six-year-old jules that stood outside that front door in a cold houston chill waiting for her mommy to come home the very same evening she up and left.
"...you're right rob. i do know how to stop it and i don't want to stop it because if i do stop it, i feel like i'll never get the answers i deserved. the answers that that little girl all those years ago deserved...and i want answers rob, i want to know why she decided to leave! i want to know why she thought it was a good idea to just leave my family alone in the late night houston chill. i want to know what we did that made her leave us!" jules cried as rob softened immediately, not that he was fighting her or mad, he just hated seeing the hurt and pain that was still etched on his girlfriend's face
"i know babe but that's not healthy. and it's not going to do anything to actually help you, even though it may seem like closure, it's not actually going to help you, it's only going to make you fall into a deeper spiral of the what ifs," rob soothed as he pulled jules in for a hug as jules nodded her head
"yeah...you're right..." jules whispered as she sniffled and pulled out of the hug as she then saw all the boxes filled with everything that she and rob had brought with them to fill their new house with
"...well, how about we make this house a home? it shouldn't stay empty cause then that'll be boring.." jules smiled as rob's eyes lit up with joy as he nodded his head
"..that's an amazing idea, jules. i'd love to do that, let's start with this room we're in now and go from there..." rob smiled as jules nodded her head as her tears were gone and her joy had returned
even though today was a win, tomorrow was a whole nother story because she was always going to wait for her mom. but, right now, she didn't feel like she needed to because it was clear that right now, she wasn't going to come back. and jules was okay with that because she was with rob and in a new house where her mother wasn't.
she can't hear anything they're saying, she can't believe what is true. it doesn't make sense what they're saying, she can't see anyone but you.
in all of the supernatural storylines, jules had never really explored the storyline about her characters abandonment issues. and there was a reason for that. robert singer didn't want to put jules back into the position of when she was a child and her own mother abandoning her and she loved that and appreciated what robert did. but, since it was a major part of who she was as jules but also a major part of who her character in supernatural was, it would only make sense to let that part of her story be shared. so, jules begged and begged robert and andrew dabb to create that part of her character's story into a storyline for the next season and they actually said yes and jules was bursting with joy. she was so happy that she could finally tell this side of the story to her character whilst also not needing to stray too far away from her own self to make it seem authentic and believable.
her character, leigha watson, was a hunter alongside the winchester brothers, sam and dean, and angel castiel. leigha was the youngest of the group but she was the one with the most authority, what she said, goes. and for a while, dean didn't like that because he was the leader until he met leigha and he kinda fell in love with her. however, there was a huge secret that leigha was keeping from the boys and castiel. that she was abandoned by her mom at fourteen-years-old who covered it up by saying that she was leaving for a hunting trip and would only be gone for a week. and, after the week passed, it worried leigha and her family that their mom and wife still hadn't returned. so, leigha, the oldest of the kids went out to look for her mom in the place where she had told the family where her last known location was. however, mrs watson wasn't there but what was there was a note. and written on that note was mrs watson explaining and apologising. saying that she was sorry she lied but said she lied so no one would try to find her because she knew that if she didn't lie and told the truth her family would come looking for her. which, i'm sure you can guess, is not what mrs watson wanted. she didn't want to be found because she didn't want to be a mother or a wife anymore. she wanted to be a full time hunter and not worry about wondering whether or not she was doing a good job in keeping her husband and kids safe. so, she just decided the best thing was instead of leaving her job as a hunter that it would be safer if she just left her family and abandonded them instead.
and as you can imagine, this devastated leigha and her family. it caused so many fights in her family that it broke the family up. to the point where the older children, excluding leigha, left and the youngest and leigha stayed with their father. that was until leigha had to leave since she wanted to become a hunter just like her mom. and, also because she hoped that if she became a hunter that she would run into her mom. however, leigha was still waiting for the day she'd run into her mom as it hadn't happened yet. and it discouraged her...
...that was...until she saw someone whilst on a hunt with the gang. and the woman she had seen looked exactly like her mom. she couldn't verify if it was her mom but, it gave leigha hope that it was her mom. and because she was so hyperfixated on the woman that could be her mother, she couldn't hear anything that the boys were shouting at her. she couldn't believe what the potential truth could be. the truth that she could have found her mom, finally, after over a decade of looking.
sam, dean and cas all kept on trying to get her attention but it fell on deaf ears as they watched the way leigha tried to see if she could look at the older woman's face. because that was the only thing she could see. she couldn't see anyone but her...
...until the woman turned around fully, her eyes widened and she ran away because she knew they were the hunters, the people trying to capture her because she was the monster they were hunting for. but, because leigha had full faith that it was her mom, she had no idea until she let it run away before realising that she was what they had been hunting for the entire time and now, she had just let her go.
"...i...i am so sorry guys..." leigha stammered as she knew how mad the boys would be at the fact that she let the monster go
"...it's fine, leigha...we're just worried about you, what happened back there? you are usually an amazing hunter but this trip tripped you up. what went wrong?" dean was worried as were sam and castiel, sure it was annoying that they lost this hunt, but it wasn't the end of the world
what they were catching wasn't anything like a wendigo or a dangerous changeling. it was just an angel that had lost her course of travel and all they were sent there to do was to guide the angel back on her course to wherever it was she needed to be. so, it wasn't a danger that they hadn't caught her and that she had been let free.
"i...i thought she was my mom..." leigha stammered as the boys looked at each other and then back at leigha in confusion
"...your mom? i thought you told us that she had died...that was definitely not your mom, leigha!" sam was shocked and confused as leigha scoffed a laugh and provided the truth
"i lied sammy. my mom's not dead, that i know of. she could very well be dead now but, i wouldn't know because she abandonded me and my family when i was fourteen. she covered it up with a lie, saying that she was going on a hunting trip and that she'd only be gone a week...obviously, that was a lie as by the time the week finished and she wasn't home by dinner time, i went out to what she told us was her last known location and found a letter in place of where she should have been...and she's been gone ever since and that was why i started hunting...because, if i went on a hunting trip, there was always a reason for me to believe that she could be on the same hunt that i was on and i'd see her again..." leigha trailed off as the boys watched on in sadness for their best friend
"...but you never came into contact with her even though you saw her in everyone you came into contact with..." sam finished as leigha nodded her head as she breathed out shakily, tears welling in her eyes at the memory of every hunt she had gone on just hoping she'd bump into her mom
"...yeah...that's about right..." leigha sniffled as dean pulled his lover in for a hug as the distraught girl mustered a smile
"...why didn't you tell us sooner sweetheart? we could've asked castiel to go and look for her..."
"...no, you couldn't have and i wouldn't have let you. i can't keep doing this and think that my mom's going to be there when i wait for her because she won't be there and i have to finally take that as a sign to stop waiting for her..." leigha trailed off as leigha faded away and the tears streaming down her face was jules' tears and it was jules' cheeks
the director called for a cut and jules was left to cry on her own on the sound stage as she had to pick up the pieces of herself that broke and had to start glueing them back together to fix the broken pieces of herself.
little girl hold on and wait, it's not fair the fairness is overrated. wait and you will be saved, the path it walks in this way.
jules smiled as cheers and laughter could be heard all around her as she sat onstage during a supernatural convention in texas but this time, it was san antonio so she wouldn't have to see her childhood home this time. it was nearing the end of her panel with rob, jared and jensen when a little girl all of a sudden shuffled up to the microphone.
"...wait, wait, guys, don't end the questions just yet, i am so sorry but, i think this little girl has a question..." jules felt bad for stopping the moderator who was about to halt all questions but, she saw a little girl walk near the microphone stand and it was obvious she had a question
and the moderator nodded her head and stayed at the microphone stand as the little girl made it, "...hello sweetheart, what's your name and what's your question?" jules asked softly, inching off her seat even more to see the little girl clearer
the little girl smiled with a shy energy to her as she breathed into the microphone, "my name is julianna and...and my question is for jules..." julianna, the little girl spoke in her little high-pitched voice as the crowd cooed, jules, rob, jensen and jared doing the same thing
"...hello julianna, what a beautiful name, did you know that's my full name? jules is just my nickname?" jules smiled at the little girl who lit up at hearing that she shared the same first name as one of her idols as she then started to ask her question
"well, my question is, i really loved the storyline about leigha's abandonment from her mom and i wanna know, what was it like for you to film since i know from watching it that it was very hard to watch as my mom also left me and my family so...i...i was just wondering if it was hard for you to film that or not..." julianna got teary at the end of her question as that broke jules' heart as rob, jensen and jared watched closely, their hearts breaking as well
julianna, the little girl only looked to be eight...maybe, just maybe nine but, if julianna was nine, nearing ten, she was awfully small for that age. and it broke jules' heart into two because whilst jules was a lot younger, six, when her mom left her and her family, when she was julianna's age, she was still very much struggling with the fact that she didn't have a mom to run to for help or even an older sister since she was the older sister in the family, she didn't have a girl older than her to run to for help.
"...oh honey, are you okay? do...do you need a hug?" jules stood up from her seat as she watched little julianna started to cry, no longer able to hold her tears in anymore as the audience stayed quiet
julianna nodded her head as she slightly stepped away from the microphone so it wouldn't pick up her little sobs. jules stepped down from the stage and walked the two steps to where the moderator and julianna was and picked the little girl up and hugged her tightly. it was obvious to rob, jared, jensen and the fans in the audience who knew jules' story, that she saw herself in little julianna and how unfair it was that she was still hearing these stories of little kids being abandonded and left behind by either one of or both of their parents. a few minutes later and little julianna had stopped crying, only little sniffles could be heard and jules was content in knowing that the little girl could go back to her seat back to her dad who had come to the convention with her. it was obvious that little julianna's dad had also been crying duirng that exchange because not only had julianna's mom abandonded her, julianna, but she had also abandonded her husband and the father of their children. so it wasn't shocking that little julianna's dad was also crying and it wasn't something that needed to be made into a scene either because it was a father having his heart break as his little girl tells her favourite group of actors that she can relate to one of the storylines in a tv show that technically, she is still too young to watch and comprehend properly. but, again, it's stories like these that jules and the rest of her cast mates hear on the daily that makes what they do nine months out of the year completely worth it in the end.
as little julianna went back to her seat, it only felt like now, that she was away from the microphone and with her dad, that jules felt like she could properly answer the question.
"well, julianna, to answer your question properly, i have to say, it was hard to film that because, just like you, i was also abandonded by my mother. i was a lot younger than you and way younger than leigha was as her mom abandonded her when she was fourteen whereas i was six when my mom left back home in houston. so, i was very, very young yet, i still felt like i was old enough that i could understand what was going on and that mom was leaving and never coming back. however, i feel like as i've gotten older, it's been harder to understand that my mom left and never came back. and, i remember when cut was called on that scene that ties up that abandonment storyline and i just remember i started crying. and, i couldn't distinguish if these were tears for leigha...like i couldn't tell if these were leigha's tears and emotion or if was jules' tears and emotion. and i say that because my last line in that episode regarding leigha's mom and it's after dean asks why leigha hadn't told them as they could have had castiel look for her as they were on the hunt where they were trying to find the lost angel and leigha goes, "no, you couldn't have and i wouldn't have let you. i can't keep doing this and think that my mom's going to be there when i wait for her because she won't be there and i have to finally take that as a sign to stop waiting for her." and, it just hit me in that moment that it was life imitating art imitating life because that was what i was needing to do. i was needing to stop myself from waiting for someone who i know is never going to be there for me..." jules trailed off as she smiled at the little girl and her father who clinged onto every single world jules had said but it was clear that they weren't the only ones, it looked as though the whole convention hall had clinged onto every single world and you could hear a pin drop
because it was unfair but if little jules could wait and this was the life she lived now, so could little julianna. because little julianna's life was going to change forever and in the best way and it was her mom's loss that she was never going to know about it or see it because she made the decision to leave rather than stay.
and meanwhile the house is empty, the floors lay, naked and weary. the walls barely hanging on, carry on and she waits for you.
jules hadn't ever been happier in her life. she had just found out that she was pregnant with her and rob's first baby. and the way she surprised rob was in the empty spare room at the end of the upstairs hallway that was next to their bedroom. the room, that used to lay naked and weary was now decorated from top to bottom with everything that had got to do with babies and having a baby. it was colourful, it was vibrant, it was happy. it reflected the new joy of jules becoming a mom after always being scared of being one since the only mom she ever knew was a mom that lied and eventually ran away, never to be seen again but always waited on. and that wasn't what jules wanted to be as a mom. she wanted to be a mom that told the truth, that stayed and was always one message or phone call away if help was needed, and a mom that didn't need to be waited on. a mom that didn't break her pinky promises.
"...jules? babe, where are you?" rob giggled as he entered the house after a long work day as jules bit her lip in excitement
"upstairs babe, in the spare room next to our bedroom," jules tried to hide the excitement in her voice but it was clear that it couldn't be hidden way as rob giggled
he made his way upstairs to the spare room that was always empty, with confusion as to why his wife was up there. but, because he was too tired to question it, he didn't. however, what he saw when he made his way into the room made so many questions fly through his head that it almost made him burst.
"wait...is this...are you pregnant, jules?" rob questioned as his eyes widened as jules bit her lip and nodded her head
"uh-huh! all five tests said positive!" jules burst into excited squeals and tippy taps as rob laughed in joy, pulling his wife in for a hug as tears welled in his eyes
"oh my gosh, baby, you're pregnant pregnant!" rob sobbed with a giggle as jules giggled and nodded her head
"mmm, i'm pregnant pregnant!" jules sighed with contentment as rob then relaxed his shoulders as he noticed that jules wasn't worried like she used to be
"and...you're not...worried?" rob questioned, pulling out of the hug as jules shook her head
"no, babe, oh my gosh no! i'm not worried at all. if this was happening at the beginning of our relationship or even the start of our marriage then, hell yes, i would be freaking out and thinking about not wanting it. but, because, i've stopped waiting for her and expecting her to be there when i know she won't, i feel so much better and i'm so excited rob. i'm so excited to be a mom and for you to be a dad..." jules sighed as she sat her and rob down on the bed as rob released all the stress he had just gave himself
"...i'm glad you're excited about this because you will be such an amazing mom, jules. i have no worries at all that what happened to you when you were a kid is not going to happen to this baby...to our baby. because i'm not going to leave this baby and you're not going to leave this baby, we've already broken the generational trauma to make sure it never ever happens again to the future children and their childrens children. we're doing a great thing here, jules and i cannot wait for it. if anything, we're no longer waiting for our deadbeat mom and dad but our little baby," rob smiled with tears in his eyes as jules nodded her head as she gave her husband a kiss
"we're waiting for our little benedict," jules whispered as rob nods his head as he then goes to his knees to kiss the non-existant baby bump
she waits for you, she waits
after waiting eight and a half months, in december on a cold evening in austin, texas during christmas with the padalecki's and ackles' families that jules gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. the baby girl was named tallulah eleanor benedict and was healthy at a steady five pounds and eight ounces.
hearing the cries of little tallulah sounded like the angels in heaven. whilst it may have been exhausting for jules and painful to deliver a baby into this world after it living in the womb for nearly nine months, it was still a beautiful thing. and something that jules and rob could definitely see themselves doing again if they wanted to give tallulah some siblings in the future. but, right now, tallulah had just arrived and it was all about her.
"...here she is, well done jules. you did an amazing job, does the father want to cut the cord?" the attending midwife turned to the husband as rob smiled and nodded his head
the midwife offered him the sheers and he cut the cord clean and perfectly as tallulah was properly swaddled up and returned to her mommy and daddy.
"isn't she just gorgeous, rob? we made her, we actually created an entire little human being!" jules muttered, clearly still loopy and delirious from her epidural as rob could only smile with teary eyes at his wife
"she's beautiful, jules, just like her mommy. and yes, we did make her, we made a gorgeous human being who looks like the perfect mix of her mommy and daddy!" rob smiled as he caressed both jules and then tallulah as the midwife returned
"sorry to disturb you mom and dad but, i think the godparents want to be introduced to their goddaughter..." the midwife smiled as rob smiled as did jules as they nodded their heads
although it was tradition for the grandparents to meet the new baby first, rob and jules didn't fly that why. of course, rob and jules both loved their singular parent, of course they did. but, because they had tallulah in austin, texas, not in either of the states that rob's mom and jules' dad currently were, it just made sense that the godparents and other uncles and aunties met baby tallulah first. since mrs benedict and mr holowitz were on flights over to austin which meant that it was still a few hours before they'd land in austin and then arrive to the hospital to then meet the baby.
which leads to the question that everyone was curious about and that was who the godparents to baby tallulah was. and, the godparents of tallulah are jared and gen as well as jensen and danneel. which, everyone should have theoretically seen coming but, it was still a shock when rob and jules announced it.
"...of course, they can come in," jules smiled as she sat her and baby tallulah up in the hospital bed as jared & gen and jensen & danneel walked in
the two couples were confused that all four of them were asked to come in rather than just one of the couples. but, they didn't argue and they all cooed in adoration for the new spnfamily baby.
"oh my gosh...jules, rob...she's gorgeous! what's little bubba's name?" gen cooed as she looked at the baby lovingly, danneel, jared and jensen doing the same
"thank you gen, her name's tallulah eleanor benedict..." jules trailed off as she looked down at the little girl she was cradling that was hers and her husbands
"...tallulah eleanor...that's such a perfect name for a perfect little princess!" gen cooed again as jared could tell his wife was getting baby fever even though they already had three kids as jensen could tell that danneel was trying hard to hide her own baby fever as well
"she's gorgeous jules but, why do you need all four of us in here? i thought you only needed the godparents..." jensen asked in confusion as jules and rob giggled as little tallulah wiggled and made little noises
"...exactly...all four of you are tallulah's godparents," jules smiled as they all looked at their best friend and castmate as though she had four eyes
"wait, that's allowed? i only thought only one couple were allowed to be a child's godparents..." jared trailed off in confusion as to be fair, he did have a fair point
"...technically, that is true and if there is any "paperwork" that needs only one pair of emergency contacts, it'll be you and gen, alright jared. but, if it needs a second pair of emergency contacts, that's where jensen and danneel come in and why i want tallulah to have two godmoms and two goddads cause she already has enough aunties and uncles..." jules trailed off as they all giggled but it was clear that it really touched both couples that they both had been chosen as tallulah's legal guardians if anything were to happen to jules and rob
"...well, she does have a lot of aunties and uncles and cousins but, that's the best way to do it. you wouldn't want to bring a kid up with no one around them," jared smiled as he moved over and hugged jules and placing his gigantic hand on baby tallulah's teeny tiny head
"that's very true, jared, very true," jules smiled in content as she looked at everyone around her plus the others in the waiting room and her dad and mrs benedict who were also on their way as well
she had never felt this amount of love before but she loved it but she loved her new baby girl the most. baby tallulah was what jules had been waiting for, not her mother.

okay phew, this was fun to write but i don't know if it's good i guess. mainly because i've never written about parental abandonment because i never experienced that. but, alas, i did enjoy writing this as, like i said, i do love "she waits" by louden swain and i have had this idea for a while but i just never knew how to write it or how it'll turn out. but, i am still proud of it.
ok bye ily xx

claire's not expecting them to be at the door. she blinks at the sight of four men all huddled on the stoop with flowers and what appears to be bags of food flowing from their arms. jack is peeking above a bouquet, beaming at her.
"who's at the door?!" jody calls from the kitchen, her voice muffled by the sound of grease popping and the clanking of pans and spatulas meeting over and over.
"god," claire calls back, because she likes to think she's funny.
there's a beat of silence, and then jody's sticking her head out the kitchen. the moment she sees them, she breaks out into a grin and saunters over, shoving the spatula in claire's hand as she chatters away.
"what's going on out there?" donna asks as claire escapes back to the kitchen to poke at food jody is apparently willing to burn just because the winchesters decided to show their faces today of all days.
"judgement day," claire says dryly.
donna shares a look with patience. "haven't we dealt with that already a few times?"
"only by association," claire admits, "but i wouldn't put it past them to bring it along with 'em now. the boys are here."
"oh, isn't that nice?" donna chirps, already popping up from her chair. "i didn't know they were stopping by today."
"wonder how sam's doing," patience agrees, wandering out the kitchen right along with donna. claire can hear everyone cracking up and talking in the living room.
trust the winchesters to shake things up just by showing up. can't have one goddamn day, can they? well, that's not true. in their case, as far as claire is concerned, they're shitty for showing up and shitty for not. someone has to knock 'em all down a peg or two, so she might as well be the one.
"what did that chicken ever do to you?" kaia asks teasingly as she sidles into the kitchen and stops by the stove, hip-checking claire out of the way to take over.
"the boys are here," claire informs her.
kaia raises her eyebrows. "like, the boys as in the winchesters, or is this a milkshake pun?"
"i can only be so gay, sweetheart," claire says, shooting her a flat look.
"raise the bar a little. could be gayer. you can always be gayer," kaia teases, reaching out to sneak her hand around claire's hip, her eyes bright with amusement.
"you know what? you're right," claire agrees and immediately tries to cop a feel while kaia laughs and dances out of range.
jack appears in the doorway. "hello," he says, whispering for some reason. "claire, i need your help."
"no," claire says, not even glancing at him. she continues to try and put her hand up kaia's shirt, just to see her laugh.
"can i borrow twenty dollars?" jack asks.
"no. aren't you god?"
"yes, but i don't get paid to be."
"well, sucks for you. borrow money from cas," claire mutters, settling in behind kaia as she focuses on the food on the stove, swatting lazily at claire's roaming hands.
"he'll just borrow money from dean."
"borrow from sam."
"he'll just borrow money from dean."
"borrow from—wait, why does it matter if it's from dean? just borrow from him."
jack huffs. "i can't. i need the money for dean. i have a card, and i read online it's customary to give money with a card. also, will you sign it?"
"you got dean a card?" claire asks, craning her head around to stare at jack skeptically.
"yes."
"don't tell me it's for what i think it is."
"mother's day," jack confirms unironically.
claire wheezes out a laugh. "oh my god."
"there's a pen in the catty on the fridge," kaia says, clearly amused.
"yeah. yeah, this is—yeah." claire chokes on more laughter and stumbles towards the group of pens in the magnet container on the fridge. she waggles her fingers at jack, clearing her throat, lips twitching. "hand it over, beanstalk. you're a fucking genius."
"oh! thank you," jack declares cheerfully, passing over the card. "so, can i borrow twenty dollars?"
"hell no," claire says. she braces the card against the fridge and swallows down a laugh. sam has already signed it. this just gets better and better. happy mother's day, old man, aka the secondary source of my mommy and daddy issues. you're going for gold with this double-whammy, she writes.
"but i need it," jack insists, staring at her with wide eyes.
claire shrugs. "tough break, kid. what, cas doesn't give you an allowance? is it just me, or are dads getting stricter these days?"
"i didn't think about it in advance," jack admits sadly. "i want to do it right for the holiday. it's mother's day, claire."
"i'm well aware. sorry to break it to you, kid, but last I checked, your mom's as dead as mine," claire tells him, her voice flat. he frowns and she forces herself not to feel bad. everything that sucks for him sucked for her first, so her sympathy levels are a little drained. "father's day will roll around eventually, and you've got a long line of those, so wait your turn."
"i've already done something for my mother today," jack says slowly, his eyebrows furrowed. "i visited her in heaven."
claire snorts derisively and passes the card back over. "must be nice."
"it was," jack agrees, completely missing the point. "i really can't borrow twenty dollars? i'll pay you back."
"nah," claire says. "who cares anyway? wait, why is dean the mom?"
"well, castiel is my father."
"ah, so it's about them having the hots for each other, then? really, kid, you coulda just made dean your step-dad."
jack blinks. "they have the...hots for each other? you mean sex. they have sex?"
"you know what?" claire points at him with her free hand. "i'm not gonna burst your bubble on that one. you've got enough issues on your own without wondering if mommy and daddy still have a spark, so I'm gonna leave that alone. i've got five dollars. take it or leave it."
"deal," jack says immediately.
money is exchanged, and jack looks like he's on cloud nine. claire's just stoked to see the expression on dean's face when he gets the card. it's a homemade card and everything, nothing like the two claire, kaia, patience, and alex got for jody and donna.
claire helps kaia finish up the chicken, which promptly gets set aside to wait on the rest of the food in the oven. sam wanders in at some point to drop off the food they brought. dessert, by the looks of it. pies and cakes that go in the fridge. it's kind of them, but claire would shoot herself in the foot before she ever admits it.
she lets kaia tug her into the living room where everyone is already at, rolling her eyes at how cheered everyone seems just because the winchesters happened to grace their doorstep. really, they all suck.
but also—and claire will never admit this, not even to save her own life—it's nice to see 'em again. it's nice that they've come to celebrate the day in jody and donna's name, giving them flowers and such. it's nice that they hang around for a bit and don't bring the world crashing down on everyone for the duration of their stay.
and, well, it's nice to see cas, too.
he perches up next to the couch that claire is squeezed on with alex, donna, kaia, and jack. kaia is practically in her lap, but claire is secretly glad for the excuse. while everyone talks and has conversations across one another, cas focuses entirely on her.
another thing claire will never admit is how reluctantly pleased by that she is. it warms her. stupidly, it turns soft and gooey in her chest that he automatically gives her his undivided attention over everyone else, even jack. but, then again, it's not cas' day, so she doesn't have to look too close to that feeling. it's mother's day, so it's not about him.
when the food is ready, they reconvene in the kitchen, and that's when they crack out the cards and gifts. claire is practically vibrating with laughter before jack has even brought his card out. before that, though, she smiles softly and strokes kaia's thigh under the table as jody and donna read their cards and chuckle at the messages, their gazes warm and their smiles sweet. they look happy. they deserve to be.
"okay, last one," claire announces, grinning at jack. she's starting to think she likes this kid if he's an agent of chaos like this.
and okay, maybe she hates him a little in abstract, but in detail, she finds that she does actually like him. you kinda just wanna put him in your pocket without meaning to, she's learned. there's too much to explore with the whole psuedo sibling thing and parents that aren't parents, as well as parents that are but didn't choose to be, only he did choose one of them, and it wasn't her. it's complicated, but underneath it all, there's a vibrant love there that she can't look directly at. sometimes, she despises that she's included in it; yet, just the same, she's thankful that she is.
"oh hell," dean mutters, swinging his gaze between alex and patience. "one of you...ya know? did we miss something?"
claire snorts.
"what? no," alex replies, grimacing. "i have no idea what claire's talking about. claire, what the hell are you talking about?"
"jack?" claire prompts in a wheeze.
"here you go," jack chirps, holding out the card to dean, beaming. "happy mother's day."
the expression on dean's face is somehow even better than claire imagined. she howls with laughter while sam buries his face in his hands, his shoulders jerking. cas squints at jack, and jody's eyebrows fly up at the same exact time that donna grins.
"is this a joke?" dean sputters.
"no, no, nope," claire chokes out, nearly fucking crying with laughter. "happy mother's day, dean."
"you gotta take it, man," sam agrees, clearing his throat and biting back a smile as he bobs his head dutifully towards the card.
dean fixes sam with a flat look and snatches the card. "you're all so fucking—sam, you signed it?!"
"happy mother's day," sam says, his mouth pinched, visibly trying not to laugh.
"do you like it?" jack asks earnestly. "i made the card, sam signed it first, and claire provided the money."
"i—" dean stares down at the card, then heaves a sigh and looks up at jack. it's clear to him that—out of everyone—jack is clearly taking this very seriously. he offers him a weak smile, then swallows. "yeah, s'great, kid. thank you. sam, you are dead to me. claire, i will be spending this on something you hate. cas, this is somehow your fault."
"yup, sounds like a mother to me," jody declares, holding up her beer with a smile.
"welcome to the club," donna agrees, holding hers up as well. "everyone else annoys the shit out of you, but you love 'em anyway."
dean sighs and clinks his beer to theirs.

Chapter 2 - Juice Box
“Were here for Y/N Winchester.” Sam called out to the strange voice that filled the room. The very same voice had greeted them the moment they stepped into the lobby.
“Do you have an appointment?”
“Appointment? Who the hell does she think she is? Some kind of celebrity?” Dean complained, a scowl starting to grow on his face.
“Come on Dean, chill.” Sam tried to keep his brother calm. “She’s an Avenger now. Say what you want, but she is important.”
The Winchesters couldn’t help but be awed by the magnificent structure and interior of the building when they first walked in. The Stark Tower would be the last place they’d ever go to on any other day. But this wasn’t any other day.
“No, we do not have an appointment. But could we set one up right now?” Sam once again talked to the air. He kind of made out that he was talking to an A.I, the too-formal voice bordering on robotic giving it away.
“I’m sorry, but there is no Y/N Winchester here.”
“What? Sammy, you said she lived in this stupid tower?”
“I thought she did. Maybe she moved?”
“Are you looking for Y/N L/N?” The voice replied.
“L/N?” Dean made a face at his brother. “Who the hell is that?”
“I think she changed her last name.” Sam gulped, trying to hide the hurt on his face. Dean went silent. They were both thinking the same thing. If she erased Winchester from her name, there’d be no way in hell she’d be happy to see them at all.
“Yeah, we’re looking for her.” Sam gulped nervously.
“Please place your hands on the glass.” The voice instructed.
“What glass?” Dean questioned, and immediately a couple of square glass boxes glowed in front of them. When they looked closer, they saw the shape of a hand etched onto it’s surface.
“It’s a scanner.”
They did as they were told, placing their right hands on the glass. It glowed yellow a few seconds after.
“Miss L/N is on the sixth floor.”
As soon as the elevator doors closed, Sam and Dean shifted uncomfortably. They were both nervous to see their sister again, after all these years.
“Dean-“
“It’s too late to turn back now. We have to tell her what we need to.” The older of the Winchesters sighed, knowing full well what thoughts were swimming in Sam’s mind. He knew because he shared those thoughts too.
When the doors opened, they were hit with the reality of the moment. As soon as they saw their sister, their minds went blank. She was dressed in a leather jumpsuit, and next to her was a familiar blond man carrying a little boy who had fallen asleep.
After what seemed like forever, she finally broke the silence. “Sam. Dean.” Y/N acknowledged them, breathless.
They stepped out of the elevator, worry evident on their faces. You haven’t seen your brothers in years, so long that they’ve become nothing but a distant memory to you.
“Y/N, we need to talk to you.” Sam, your younger brother, stepped forward. You were frozen in shock. The last time you saw them, you had been disowned. That was almost seven years ago.
“What do you want?” You said, with no hint of joy in your voice. Steve could tell how confused and angry you were, noticing the tremor in your voice that only he could point out. He saw the way your nostrils were flaring despite your efforts to hide it. He would’ve walked away had he been anybody else, but he knew you needed him by your side right now. More than ever.
“We need to tell you something.” Sam insisted. “It’s important, I promise.”
You supposed he was telling the truth. There’d be no other reason for them to come here and meet you face to face. They hadn’t contacted you in a long time. You couldn’t think of a reason why they’d be here in the first place.
“Then tell me.”
“I think you might wanna sit down for this.”
Sam was doing all the talking. All the while, Dean just stood there, looking at anywhere else besides you. All these years and he still hasn’t forgiven me? You thought.
“Babe.” Steve’s voice alerted you. You had almost forgotten he was there, and you were grateful he didn’t leave. “Come on, let’s go to the living room.”
He grabbed your hand, tilting his head in the direction of the couches. You took a moment, eyeing the living room as a thousand thoughts bounced around your head. I could say no. I could walk away and leave them just like they did with me.
“Y/N.” Steve grabbed your chin gently, turning your head to face them. “You should go.”
You nodded slowly. He was right, and you hated that he was. But no man knew you better than he did, and he knew you’d regret it if you pushed your brothers away now. “You should go too, he should be tucked in bed.”
“You sure?” He raised an eyebrow skeptically. In all honesty, you wanted him to be with you. But this was something you needed to handle on your own, whether you liked it or not. Plus, you couldn’t risk your baby boy waking up in the middle of a heated conversation.
“Yeah.” You planted a kiss on James cheek before pecking Steve on the lips. “Go.”
He squeezed your hand before letting go and walking to the elevator. You watched as the doors closed, knowing that once they did, you’d have to face the two men standing in front of you.
Your brothers didn’t miss the exchange between you and Steve, and they couldn’t help but wonder who they were to you. But there was no room for any other questions, their minds focused on one thing only; telling you the news.
“Let’s go.”
You lead them to the living room, making a beeline for your favourite couch. You sat on it cross-legged, grabbing the fluffy pillow next to you and putting it on top of your legs. You held your hands together, waiting for them to start the conversation.
“We came here to tell you something important.” Sam began, clearing his throat nervously.
“Yeah, I know. What is it?”
“It’s not exactly...good news so much as it is bad news.”
You nodded curtly, trying to look like you were listening, but you were distracted by Dean. He had made the decision to not sit down and instead he paced around the room, looking at all the objects rather than making eye contact with you. Your eyes followed him, and it wasn’t long before Sam noticed and did the same too.
“So, what? You still won’t look at me after all these years?” Venom dripped from your tone, laced with hurt and anger that you no longer wanted to hide from them.
Dean stopped ‘studying’ the piece of decoration that he held in his hands, trying to think of a response. “I’m not the one who changed my last name.”
You narrowed your eyes, “You told me I wasn’t a part of the family anymore. I thought, might as well.”
“Well, how nice of you, Miss L/N. ” He said the name menacingly.
You stood up, fuming with anger. “Seven years, Dean. Seven. That’s how long it’s been.”
“Look who kept count.”
“Oh, fuck off. If you’re gonna be an asshole why don’t you see yourself out?”
“Guys!” The tallest of them three yelled, joining them in standing up. “Can’t we just...talk?!” He was desperate for a civil conversation, especially since what he was about to tell his sister was important.
You chewed the inside of your cheek, breathing heavily as you tried to keep your cool. You were far more mature now than you were back then, and you knew arguing wasn’t the best way to handle this as much as you wanted to.
“Look, Y/N. A lot of shit has went down since you left- we left you.” Sam corrected himself. You noticed his change of words, and you felt a wave of emotions wash over you. “And I know, you don’t want anything to do with us anymore.”
You felt a pang in your chest. You recognised the pain, it was the same pain that almost destroyed you when your brothers left you. It wasn’t true, what Sam said. There was a part of you that missed them deeply. They were family after all.
“But what I’m about to tell you is...it’s...” he struggled to find the words. Dean took a deep breath before cutting him short.
“Mom’s alive, Y/N.”
You weren’t sure you heard him right, blinking hard a few times just to make sure you weren’t out of it. “Come again?”
“Mom is alive. Our mother, Mary Winchester, is alive.”
The room started to spin. You weren’t sure how to feel. “H-how?”
“It’s a real long story. The short and sweet version is, God’s sister brought her back.” Dean answered.
“God has a sister?” You didn’t really care if he did. But the woman who gave birth to you, the woman who you’ve longed to meet your whole life...was alive. Your mother’s death had basically been the reason why the Winchester’s were hunters. And so much has happened since then.
When your father died, you spent months feeling guilty at the fact that you never got to truly, truly know the man. You had believed you were unfortunate enough to be someone who never really knew their parents. But now...you couldn’t believe that you had a chance to do just that.
“That is definitely not the short and sweet version, Dean.” Sam scolded his brother. Then he looked your way, starting to get worried when you didn’t speak for a good minute. “Y/N?”
“Mom...Mom’s alive.” You whispered to yourself. “Where is she now?”
“In our bunker.”
“Bunker?”
Sam and Dean glanced at each other, wondering if they should lay out the whole seven years of their lives for it to make sense to Y/N. “Yeah, we have a bunker now.”
“In Kansas?” You took a wild guess.
“Right up in Lawrence.”
Your brain was buzzing with a thousand questions that you couldn’t bring yourself to ask just yet. The main question was...would they willingly let you back in their lives? Would they let you talk to your now-alive mom?
“Y/N,” Sam took a step towards you. “We could take you to her if you want to. That’s what we came here for. We knew you’d want to meet-“
“Mommy!”
Sam was cut off for the second time that day, but this time it wasn’t so harsh. And it didn’t come from an adult man.
“Hey, sorry, honey.” Steve came in carrying the (Y/HC) boy who was crying uncontrollably. “He had a nightmare. I tried to calm him down, but he wouldn’t stop crying. He wanted you.”
James often had nightmares recently, and you were the only one that could soothe him. All thoughts of the previous conversation disappeared as your focus shifted to your motherly duties. “Oh, no. Come here baby boy. Momma’s here.”
As you reached for your wailing son, your brothers’ eyes went wide. When the looked at each other, they had the same expression; confusion and guilt. The fact that they had a nephew that they didn’t know about this whole time made the regret of not ever contacting you in the span of seven years stronger. Guilt churned in their stomachs.
Steve had went to the kitchen to fetch his son a juice box, but when he came back he had a couple of beers in his hands, along with the juice. He handed the beers to the two shocked men wordlessly, and they accepted it graciously.
James was now sniffling as you rubbed his back soothingly, planting kisses to his head now and then. Steve jabbed the straw through the juice box before giving it to you.
“You want some juice, baby?” You gently put the juice box in his hands. With a pout he nodded, putting the straw to his lips and drinking quietly. “Shh, now. Everything’s gonna be alright.”
After a while, his breathing returned back to normal. It was only then you remembered your brothers were watching the whole thing. You looked up to them, seeing the confused expression on their faces as they sipped their beers.
“Where’d you get those?” You whispered to Steve, nodding slightly towards the beers in their hands.
“Fridge. I think it’s Tony’s.”
You gave him a small smile, “Are you trying to win their approval? You know you don’t need it, right?”
“I’m just trying to be a good...host.”
“Of what? This isn’t a party, Rogers.” You almost laughed.
“Who’s that?” The small, sleepy voice interrupted your conversation. James pointed his tiny finger toward Sam and Dean, who sat up straighter when they saw the little boy look at them.
You opened your mouth, but no sound came out. You weren’t sure who to introduce them as. You didn’t even know if they wanted to be anyone to your son. Steve’s eyes met yours, and he raised an eyebrow as if to say ‘Want me to handle it?’. You chewed your lip nervously, hoping your son would just forget the question.
But luck wasn’t on your side today. “Mommy, who’s that?” He grabbed your shirt.
“Um...” you sighed. In that moment, your eyes met Sam’s. His eyebrows were furrowed, an expression you recognised as his stressed-out look from growing up with him.
“We’re your...uncles.”
You released a breath you didn’t realise you were holding. Part of you was thankful that he replied, but part of you was upset because it would be cruel to tell a three-year-old boy that and then leave forever.
“Uncle?” James tilted his head, putting his pointing finger down. Whenever he said ‘uncle’, it sounded like ‘un-caw-l’. It was the cutest thing ever. Usually it would bring a smile to your face, but now all it did was worry you.
“Daddy.” He turned to Steve.
“Yeah, bud?”
”Can I have some of uncle’s drink?”
Steve stifled a laugh, “No, baby. I think you should stick to your juice box.”
You looked at Sam, eyebrows raised. He shrugged, a small smile growing on his face.
Boy, were you in for a life-changing ride.

cats in the cradle by Duck_Life

Summary: Claire helps Patience hone her abilities. Patience helps Claire track down a cat.
Written for SPN Women Week Day 1. Prompt: "skills"
Bub is missing again.
“Bub” is the name of a mean stray cat missing a chunk from his ear. Claire’s been leaving cat food out for the ugly old thing for weeks now, and whenever he doesn’t come running she panics.
So, for the third time, Patience finds herself enlisted in the search for a cat that Claire doesn’t even technically own. “If it’s gonna bother you this much every time,” Patience says, “why don’t you just take it in? You know, get him his shots, a collar, a microchip.”
Claire makes a face at her before turning back to look at the road. She’s been driving around the neighborhood slowly, scoping out every shrub and checking under every parked car. “Bub doesn’t want to be chained down,” she explains. “He’s a free spirit.”
Alright, well, Patience is too tired to unpack that right now. She lets it lie and looks out the passenger’s side window, alert for any signs of movement. “Maybe he was never a stray at all,” she tries, “and his owner finally tracked him down and brought him home.”
“Do you know that?” Claire asks.
Claire’s always asking if Patience knows things what happened on Jody’s date last weekend, what Dean’s middle name is, whether or not Alex is the one who ate the last ice cream sandwich in the freezer. Patience keeps trying to explain that she can only see the future. “Psychic” might be a misnomer— her abilities are precognitive, not telepathic.
She basically gets previews, little spoilers about what’s to come. And though she’s been working at it, she can’t seem to get her psychic abilities to do the kind of reading and divination her grandma could do. She gets glimpses with no context, no backstory.
Missouri Moseley could walk into a room and feel every ounce of heartbreak, grief, hope and faith in the people standing there. Patience can barely pick up on it when Alex and Claire are pissed at each other.
Still, Claire brings her along whenever the cat goes missing. Seems to think her ESP can home in on missing animals. Patience keeps telling her otherwise, and yet here she is, once again. That’s the trouble with having no social life and no better plans.
Maybe she should join a book club.
Claire rounds the corner, eyes darting around for any sight of the mangy cat. The first time Bub vanished from Claire’s sight, all the neighbors seemed intent to help. They explained they hadn’t seen the cat, but hoped Claire would find him soon and offered baked goods and platitudes in the meantime.
But these things have an expiration date. You can only lose the cat so many times before the routine gets old and the neighbors lose interest.
“My educated guess ?” Patience sighs. “The cat’ll come back when it gets hungry. Just like before.”
Claire makes a tch sound and mouths “educated guess” under her breath. Apparently, because Patience is psychic she’s supposed to be omniscient. “So which is it?” Claire says. “Is he back with his ‘real’ owners or is he going to come home when he gets hungry?”
“Don’t be a jerk,” Patience says. “I’m here, aren’t I? I’m helping you.”
“... Yeah. You are,” Claire says, ducking her head. “Sorry.” Her eyes scan the road ahead, looking for the telltale streak of a cat darting out from under a parked car or vanishing around a tree trunk. Still nothing. “Hey, Patience the Pet Psychic,” Claire says. “You should write that down, that’d be a great children’s book.”
“Very funny,” Patience says, rolling her eyes. She’s silent for a few moments and then says, “Cla-aire the Monster Slayer.”
“That doesn’t really rhyme.”
“Sure it does.”
When the sky darkens and the streetlights flick on, Claire drives them back to the house, Bub-less and dejected. “I’m sure he’s fine,” Patience tries.
Claire bunches her shoulders, the collar of her leather jacket looking like a cat’s raised hackles. Maybe, Patience thinks, that’s the connection— Claire in many ways resembles an angry cat. She and Bub might be kindred spirits.
“I’m just tired,” Claire says, yanking the keys out of the ignition. “We’ll try again tomorrow.”
Patience considers pointing out that Claire could at least ask instead of just assuming , considers reminding Claire that she has her own life outside of playing “pet psychic.”
But she doesn’t actually have anything to do tomorrow. Or the rest of the week. And as futile as it feels riding around looking for a runaway cat, it is something to do. And it makes Claire feel better.
And… straining her psychic muscles to pick up on any trace of the old tomcat is at least better than doing nothing and letting her abilities degrade. Over the last year, she’s been trying to find ways to train her brain, shape her psychic visions into something useful.
Jody’s supportive, but she, like most people, doesn’t know anything about being psychic. Kaia’s got a fraught relationship with her own special skills and usually chooses not to talk to Patience about seeing the future, and Alex is so entrenched in nursing and hunting that the few “normal” moments she gets at home are devoted to unwinding and relaxing.
Which makes Claire Patience’s most ardent supporter in developing her psychic abilities. A very grouchy, blonde and mostly clueless Yoda. What she lacks in background knowledge she makes up for in persistence.
“Hey, Patience, guess which hand?” Claire will ask, holding the last fortune cookie behind her back. “Hey, Patience, what number am I thinking of?” Claire will ask, perched on the arm of the couch. “Hey, Patience, heads or tails?” Claire will ask, flipping a coin to catch it in midair.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of it works— Patience can’t predict things at will. Her psychic visions operate on a schedule of their own, with no concern for Patience’s own convenience or comfort. One minute, she’s watching shitty reality TV while Alex nods off on her shoulder. The next, she’s watching Jody narrowly avoid being bitten by a vampire.
It’s a lot different from just guessing a coin toss. Still. Patience can’t help but think that her grandma would’ve passed all of Claire’s little tests with flying colors.
That night, Patience doesn’t dream about anything— at least, not anything useful. She has an anxiety dream about being lost in Aldi, roaming the aisles with increasing frustration. But nothing about the future. Nothing about Bub the cat.
She’s pouring herself a bowl of cereal when Claire stomps inside, the porch door swinging shut behind her. “Still gone,” she says darkly, grabbing the cereal box and her own bowl. “Food hasn’t been touched.”
“Claire,” Patience says, “why don’t we just go to the SPCA? You can get yourself a cat that’s not, you know—”
“What? Not damaged? Not a lost cause? Not hard to love?”
Whoa, Patience wants to say. “A cat that’s not missing ,” she finishes. “We can get him his shots and a collar and everything.”
“I don’t— I don’t just want some random cat,” Claire says. “I want to find Bub. I want… I want to find him and bring him home. I have to bring him home.”
“I know,” Patience says, and just like that she does . She does know.
She knows everything, feels everything, the aching loss in Claire’s bones that’s both recent and so, so old. Memories of Claire hitchhiking and stealing and conning her way through the country, desperately chasing a mother who was desperately chasing a dead man. Jimmy Novak’s voice in her head, his face seen through Claire’s eyes, Please, Castiel, take me. Just take me. Again, his forehead pressed to hers, Take care of your mom, okay, bub?
Bub.
Patience looks at Claire. Sees her, in a way she hasn’t been able to see anyone before. “Bub… ‘bub’ is what your dad used to call you.”
Claire squints at her. “Uh. Yeah,” she says. “Wait, I didn’t… I didn’t tell you that.”
“No,” Patience breathes, meeting her eyes across the kitchen, “you didn’t.”
Slowly, a grin spreads across Claire’s face. “Holy shit , Patience, you just… ? You just did that. You, like, read me.”
“I, uh, I didn’t know. That I could do that,” Patience says, caught between marveling at this new development and feeling self-conscious at intruding on Claire’s emotions and her past.
Claire doesn’t seem put off at all. She’s actually bouncing with excitement. “We gotta test this out. Oh my God. It’s like a whole new Pokemon evolution for you.”
“It’s not really. Like that. In any way.”
But Claire is already humming the Pokemon theme song. She grabs her car keys. “Alright, well, let’s go look for that cat. I’ve got a good feeling about today.”
“I read you, Claire, that doesn’t mean I can read the cat,” Patience reminds her.
“Yeah, yeah, but you can still help me look,” Claire says. “I don’t need your third eye, just the two on your face.”
“That’s… yeah, fine,” Patience acquiesces. To be honest, she’s buzzing with the knowledge of what she can do with her powers. If Claire’s happy to be her test subject, she’ll spend all day with the girl. “Just let me grab a coffee.”
“Ooh, me too. Wait!” She wiggles her fingers toward Patience. “Do you Know how I like my coffee?”
“Half-and-half. And enough sugar to kill you,” Patience reels off. “But that’s not because I’m psychic. I’ve just seen you fix yourself coffee before.”
“Y’know, I think the line between ‘psychic’ and ‘observant’ is thinner than you might think.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Patience says, and then pretends to stumble backward toward the table, overacting the part. “Oh, oh, I’m having a vision… I see you … making coffee for us…”
Claire rolls her eyes, but she dutifully sets her keys down and busies herself with getting the travel mugs out. “That’s not gonna work for everything, you know.”
“Aaah I see you bringing Jody’s suit to the dry cleaners next week. I also see you driving me to the science museum.”
“Hilarious.”
Patience smiles at her. It’s nice to have someone else get excited about her powers. It’s nice to be allowed to be excited about this, to learn a new skill and have it mean something good to someone besides herself. She doesn’t feel like a freak or a failure. She just feels… like a psychic.
She feels like her grandma would be proud.

You were in a daze and barely remembered getting back to your room, you heard Sam talking but you couldn’t grasp anything other than Thor telling you about your pregnancy.  Something that you would never expect to happen and you were certainly not ready for.
“Sweetheart? Are you ok?” Sam looked at you worryingly.
“Yea, uh, I um, I’m ok” you nodded “I am in need of a shower and uh, yea.”  Looking up at Sam, you saw the biggest smile on his face
“I can tell you are worried, and I know this wasn’t your plan, but I’m so happy right now I can’t help it. We’re having another baby!” he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a comforting hug.
“I love you so much, Sam” just a hug from him helped your anxious thoughts to quiet down for a few moments.  “Wanna join me in the shower?” you winked as you turned and headed towards the bathroom.
Making your way back to the common room, after a very long and rejuvenating shower, you tried your best to focus on what to do next.  Your head is spinning, as excited as you are about having another child, this wasn’t planned and kind of throws everything out of whack.
You huff as you plop down on the couch next to Kevin, watching Morgan and Joy have a tea party in the middle of the room with all of their favorite animals.
“So Kev, we are probably heading home tomorrow, so if there is anything you want to see while in NY, now is your chance” you tell him knowing he’s been enjoying this trip as much as you have.
“Oh, I thought we’d be here longer, I was hoping to catch a show, but I haven’t been able to find affordable tickets, so maybe next time” he shrugs in response.
“Don’t be silly, I’m sure i can have Tony pull some strings and get you tickets for tonight, or we could move your return flight home, whichever you prefer really. Anything for Kevin Tran, world’s best nanny” you smile at him and see the small blush on his cheeks from the praise.
“I’m serious, whatever you need, just say the word, you have no idea how relieved I am when she’s with you, because I know you take such good care of her, I don’t worry for a minute, you Kevin, are a Godsend if there ever was one”
You could tell Kevin was a bit taken back, but he rarely took a compliment well so you simply squeezed his hand and offered a sincere smile before being interrupted by Sam as he joined the girls on the floor for tea.
“What do my girls say to a picnic then maybe a trip to the park?”
"That sounds like a great plan, but I have an appointment with Maria after lunch so I can't make it to the park, I'm sorry sweetie" you tell them as you go to join them for tea.
"Well, we could picnic here and maybe play down at the lake, I'm sure Tony has a kayak or canoe I can take the girls on." Sam tells you as you adjust the flower crown on his head so it  doesn't fall in his eyes.
"Are you sure you want to take care of 2 kids by yourself? I gave Kevin the rest of the day off"
"Of course, and I need the practice" he winks as he starts to tickle the girls.  "Ok, then I will get our lunch ready while you help the girls out of these beautiful gowns and into some play clothes''
Lunch was an event, although both girls were always well behaved, they had a tendency to make a mess, or get distracted and try to follow the butterfly that came by for a visit.  By the time you were done, you were rushing to meet Maria in time, knowing that being late was not an option.
You knew what needed to be done but not sure how she would take the info about Roman getting away, hopefully the few of his lackeys that were picked up would get you some important info.
By the time you made it back to the compound you were mentally exhausted, and apparently your clan had a good day as they were spread out in the common room watching The Little Mermaid.  You had to laugh at how engrossed in the movie the adults in the room seemed to be, and was Steve singing along...no, you had to be imagining that.
Finding a seat next to Nat, you looked around fondly at your two families combining so nicely.
“So how did she take it?” Natasha whispered without taking her eyes off the screen.
You hadn’t told anyone what your full intention of today’s meeting was, as far as everyone knew, you were going over the mission report and strategizing the next steps, but Nat always knew everything….now that you were having two kids, you really needed to figure out how to do that.
“Well, she’s not thrilled but understands, Furry asked if he had to buy me a farm….whatever that means” you responded shaking your head.
She snickered and simply responded with “Clint”, you hadn’t even thought of that, “ah, well, Sam Winchester is not the Mr. Mom type, so this is my only option”
“And are you ok with that?” she asks, finally turning and looking at you.
“Honestly, I can’t imagine anything better” you sigh as you look over at Joy napping on Sam’s chest.
“Good, you deserve all the happiness in the world” she gives you a small hug.  “And Tony’s throwing a dinner tonight, since you are leaving tomorrow, so be prepared”
You roll your eyes in jest, knowing Tony would probably do something like that, “well, in that case, I’m going to try and take a nap before dinner”.
Getting up you make your way to Sam and bend over to place a small kiss on his head, “I’m going to try and grab a nap, do you two want to join me?” you whisper in his ear, not wanting to interrupt anyone’s movie time…..and now I’m certain Steve is singing along ang actually knows all the songs.
He smiles and nods, following behind you and into the room you are staying in
Sam got Joy settled in her crib before turning back to me, pulling me into a much needed hug.  “How do you always know when I need you?” you mumbled into his chest.
“That’s my job” he smiled down at you “so I take it the meeting didn’t go well?”
"It went as well as could be expected, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the time frame I gave them. Two weeks is a bit short to transition my cases to someone else and pack up my apartment but, the sooner the better I suppose" you are rambling as Sam put Joy in her crib and is now sitting on the bed watching you.
"You are relocating?  Are you moving back to NY? I didn't realize that was an option when you made this trip…..does this have anything to do with Bucky?" he barely whispers with a worried look on his face.
"What? Sam, no, none of this has to do with Bucky" you aren't sure why he thought that and look at him confused.
"I…..I remember how broken hearted you were when we met, if you still love him, I would like to know…..I deserve to know since you are the mother of my children" you had never seen Sam so distressed in your life.
He was the most confident man you had ever met, the lawyer that owned the courtroom as soon as he walked in.  You couldn't believe that he would ever be concerned with someone you used to date.
"Oh Sam" you hold his face in your hands as you settle in his lap. "There is nothing left between Bucky and I, he was a part of my past, and might be a friend in the future,  but you are the only man I have ever truly loved with my entire being" looking into his eyes you see some relief so you lean in and kiss him softly but passionately.
"The meeting was my resignation, or retirement as SHIELD prefers to call it. I'm leaving DC so we can all be together in Kansas all the time."
He looks at you shocked "you quit? You love your job, I didn't think you would ever leave."
You smile at him "I do, I love my job, but my family,  you, our kids are so much more important than any job could ever be"
"Our kids" he whispers as you runs his hand over your stomach "we're having another baby and our family will all be under one roof….this has been an incredible day" he looks at you lovingly before wrapping his arms around you and pulling you as close to him as possible.
"I'm sorry I didn't explain that before I left, but you know how exhausted I was the first time, there's no way I could continue this case on Roman being pregnant. Speaking of, do you think we could change the wedding date?  If we stick with our current plan, I'll be a whale walking down the aisle" you grimace at the thought of waddling in a wedding dress.
He chuckles at you before kissing you, "whatever you want is fine by me"
"Do you think your mom would be ok with us planning something small in the next month or so, before I start showing?"
He laughs at your excitement to move things along so quickly "mom would love it, she works well under pressure"
"Ok, let's try to rest before your princess wakes up" Sam and you snuggle into the bed wrapped up in each other's arms.
It felt like you had just closed your eyes when you suddenly felt the bed shift.  Opening your eyes slowly, you came face to face with beautiful hazel eyes, had it not been for the giggles and tiny hands patting your cheek, you might have thought you were looking at Sam.
“Joy sweetie” you whisper “how did you get out of your crib?” pulling her down to snuggle with you a bit longer.
“Tevin hep me out” she giggles again before getting up and climbing over you to sit on Sam’s torso.  He didn’t move, but you could tell by his breathing that he was awake, and most likely ready to strike on Joy at any moment.
It’s one of the things you love when you are all under one roof.  Not living in the same state is hard, and you both worked really hard to make things as normal as possible for Joy, but seeing them together, simple little things like this made your heart swell.
She adored her dad, and had no idea it wasn’t normal for you to all be in the same house, but that would soon change.  Before you were too lost in your thoughts, Joy was squealing while Sam was tickling her, the fake sleep surprise attack never failed.
Looking at them you laughed and attempted to get out of the bed, but you heard Sam whisper “let’s get mommy” and before you knew it, you were being tickled and attacked by both of them.
By the time the three of you made it to dinner, everyone was there and of course Tony had everything catered and a full staff serving, and of course he needed to make a toast to make sure everyone knew it was an official ‘family’ dinner.
Clinking his glass he raised it in the air and everyone followed suit, you were about to grab the wine glass but quickly changed to the water in front of you.
“To an ever expanding family, salut” Tony cheered as everyone followed suit and took a drink.  The table was full of laughter and chatter from everyone, even Morgan and Joy were chatting away as the best of friends.
“So Sam” Bruce turned toward Sam “how did you propose to Y/N?” for some reason, that question got most of the tables attention and everyone was looking at the two of you.
“Well, which time?” Sam asked with a smirk.
You knew that this would come to bite you in the ass one day, but you had hoped it was with Sam’s family, not yours.
“Wait…..you proposed more than once?” Steve asked, you could tell he was trying to seem like it was an innocent question, but he was really trying to understand the person you had become since you left NY.
“Three times to be exact” Sam said with more confidence than you had expected.  You shook your head knowing everyone expected an explanation and you were about to speak when Sam squeezed your hand under the table.
“Well, the first time was when we found out that our little Joy was on the way.  However, in Y/N defense, we were only together 3 or 4 months at that point, so it probably felt a bit rushed.   The second was about 15 minutes after Joy was born and it was a very emotional day for all of us.  The successful proposal was just a few months ago, and we went on a little road trip, and I proposed at the same chapel where her parents were married” Sam turned to you fondly and placed a sweet kiss on your cheek.
“Wow, you are even more difficult than Pepper, I never realized that before” Tony smirked as he lifted his glass.
“Very funny, Tony.   In my defense, the first two were spur of the moment emotional proposals and not thought through.  I didn’t refuse, but knew that you needed to really think things out before taking such a big step” you tried to explain your reasoning, but not sure if it was for yourself or everyone else.
“They may have been spur of the moment, but they were most definitely thought through” Sam replies with a smug look while still eating and assisting your daughter with her meal.
You looked up at him a bit confused and was about to ask more when he continued by bringing your hand to his lips and gently kissing your knuckles.
“I bought that ring after our 3rd date, I just had to convince you that I wanted you for who you are and not what you have given to me since we met.”
You were shocked, you had no idea he knew for that long that he wanted this life with you, it had all felt it just happened and you went with it.  You were actually speechless at this point and could see the glint in his eyes as you processed what he said.   Leaning in, you kissed him gently and looked into those amazing hazel eye, this is where you always belonged.

While hiding in the bathroom during her lunch period, YN removed her hood from her head. She stared at her hair that was wrapped in a bun on top of her head.
She took a breath and took out the clip from her hair, letting her long locks fall down past her shoulders to her tail bone.
YN closed her eyes for a moment before opening them and staring at her reflection in the mirror.
And tears almost instantly filled her eyes.
For as long as she could remember, she had long hair. And the only reason she had never cut it was her father.
Jensen had always and will always see YN as his little girl, his first born, his baby. And no matter how old she gets, Jensen's views of her will not change.
Which sucked as a high schooler when image was everything.
And right now, YN hated the image she saw in the mirror.
She had tried so many different hairstyles, from straightening and scrunching to braids and buns, but nothing really fit. Her hair was just too long to manage.
It surely didn't help with her shyness either. YN had been shy for the past 3 years, not really talking in school, keeping to herself, and not having friends to hang out with.
So she used her hair to hide herself during school days. She'd sit in the back of the class, not answer any questions, and not sit near anyone during lunch.
Most of the time, she'd just go into the bathroom during lunch and wait it out.
She wiped her eyes and tossed her hair back into a bun on top of her head before covering it with her hood. After one last look in the mirror, she turned and walked out of the bathroom just in time for the bell to ring for lunch to be over.
YN went on with the rest of her day and when school was over, she waited outside for Danneel. She stood by a tree in the front while other students were hanging out and talking with their friends.
A horn honking startled YN out of her thoughts. When she looked up, she saw Danneel sitting in her car and waving.
YN grabbed her backpack and walked quickly to Danneel's car. She opened the passenger door and jumped in, slamming the door behind her.
"Hey, YN. How was school?" Danneel asked.
YN shrugged, "Fine."
Danneel thought maybe she could get YN open up, "Anything to report?"
YN shook her head in response.
"Well, why don't you tell me something you learned?"
"Um, we talked about Shakespeare in English."
Danneel stayed silent, thinking YN would continue. But she didn't.
"Anything else?"
YN shook her head.
Danneel let out a long sigh, "Do you want to tell me what's on your mind? Did something happen? Is there something I can do?"
YN turned to Danneel and stared at her for a moment. Tears welled up in her eyes as she reached out and twirled Danneel's hair in her hands.
"I really like your hair. It's a good length for you," YN said fighting back tears.
Danneel was confused for a moment before it suddenly hit her, "You wish your hair was shorter, don't you?"
YN nodded as tears fell down her cheeks, "I've never had it really cut. Dad just took me to get the ends trimmed and thinned out a bit over the years. But..."
"But?"
"He won't let me have it shorter. He always says his 'baby girl' needs to stay young forever. I guess this is his way of doing that," YN explained.
Danneel smiled sadly, "Well, I happen to have an appointment at the salon to color my hair. Why don't you take it? And you can do whatever you want to your hair."
YN whipped her head up to Danneel, "Are you crazy? Dad would flip!"
"YN, you're a 15-year-old girl. At your age, my parents let me do whatever I wanted to my hair. You're old enough to make your own decisions about how you look. You're in high school. If you want to do something to your hair, just say so."
YN thought for a moment. She slowly pulled down her hood and took her bun down. Her hair fell on her shoulders and all around her.
She took a breath, "I've always wanted to have a blue and purple bob, but I couldn't ever make myself do it."
"Well then," Danneel put the car in drive, "We will go do it." -------------------- A few hours later, Jensen was setting the table for dinner for himself and his family. He had gotten a text from Danneel earlier that said YN was going with her to her appointment and they'd be back in time for dinner.
As he set the last plate down on the table, he heard the front door open.
"We're back!" Danneel yelled in the house.
Jensen smiled as he walked down the steps of the dining room and into the living room. He saw Danneel standing by the door and YN by her side.
Well, he saw Danneel's face clearly, but YN stood with her hood over her head and face.
"There are my girls. How was the salon?" Jensen asked.
Danneel smiled, "Great. She got my hair back to the way I like it. And a little something extra."
Jensen chuckled, "Extra? Oh, she styled it."
"Well, yes. But that's not what I mean," Danneel turned to YN, "Come on, show him."
YN took a deep breath and pulled the hood off her face. Danneel smiled down at her, happy to see the smile on her face.
Jensen, on the other hand, was speechless. And not in a good way.
Tumblr media
YN ran her hands through her hair, "So, um, I told Danneel an idea I've had for the last couple years. I've always wanted to have multicolored hair and you know how badly I've wanted to cut it short."
Jensen still stood in silence. Danneel and YN waited in anticipation for him to speak.
"Well, Jay? Do you like it?" Danneel asked.
Jensen took a deep breath and closed his eyes, "Danneel can I speak with you...in private?" he whispered.
Danneel turned to YN, "Honey, why don't you go get ready for dinner? I'll come get you once-"
"No, I'll get her once we're done talking, Danneel," Jensen interrupted her.
YN looked up at her father in shock from his outburst. Jensen stared at Danneel in anger while Danneel looked frightened. YN took a step away from the two and slowly walked towards her bedroom.
Once in her room, she shut the door lightly behind her and walked straight over to her mirror. She took off her hoodie and ran her hands through her hair again.
She stared at her reflection as a smile slowly spread across her face. She couldn't remember the last time she smiled at herself.
For the first time in years, she felt pretty. She felt like herself. She felt...normal.
YN jumped and gasped in fear when a heavy knock interrupted her thoughts. She slowly walked over to the door, turned the handle, and pulled it open.
Jensen stood there with his arms crossed over his chest. And he did not look happy at all.
He walked past YN and into her bedroom, but kept his back to her, "So, do you want to explain it to me?"
YN was confused for a moment, "Explain wh-"
"Explain why in the hell you dyed your hair and chopped it all off, YN!" Jensen turned and yelled at her.
Tears formed in YN's eyes, "Y-you don't like it?"
"No. In fact I think it looks horrible. What did you do, stick your hair in a can of paint? Grab a pair of hedge trimmers and go to town on your hair?"
YN started to sob, "B-but I-"
"No, YN. You knew better. You knew not to mess with your hair."
"Danneel said-"
"Danneel is not your mother, YN. She is your step-mother. She has no say in anything with what you do or how you will look."
Anger started to flood her mind as YN took a step towards Jensen, "At least she saw that I needed to change, Dad."
"Excuse me?"
"For years now, all I've wanted to do was cut my hair, even just a trim. But you wouldn't allow it. Danneel saw how upset I was after school today and thought maybe if I just changed a little it would bring me out of my shell. And it did! It's only been like an hour since we left the salon and I can already tell my confidence has doubled!"
Jensen held a finger up at YN, "Now hold on a minute, young lady-"
"I'm not finished. You never let me change without your permission. I'm in high school now, Dad. That's already a huge change for me. I'm so scared of changing, too. And I know you don't want me to change and grow up, but I am. Change is happening, Dad. And this," YN pointed to her hair, "Needed to happen. Don't live in the past, Dad. I'm not that little girl anymore."
Jensen took a step back as tears formed in his eyes. He turned and walked over to YN's bed, sitting down on the edge. He hung his head in his hands and started to cry.
YN blinked a few times in shock as she walked over and sat down next to her father. She laid a hand on his back to comfort him.
"It's not that I didn't want you to change, YN. It's that I didn't want things to change," Jensen began, "After your mom died, it was hard to adjust to life without her. Change was so hard for me that I need to try and keep something constant. I think that's why I never allowed you to grow and change. You keeping your hair long like when you were a little girl was a constant thing that made everything okay. I didn't think I would make you miserable with it," he sighed, "I'm sorry."
YN wiped her own tears, "Dad, change has to happen in life. Or else the human race becomes crazy. Besides, you did change one thing.”
“And that is?”
“You brought Danneel into our lives. She can't replace Mom, but she really tries to make us both happy. And she knew this made me happy. She just wanted to help."
Jensen smiled, "When did you get so mature?"
"About an hour ago when I didn't have to hold my hair up to sit down in a chair," YN chuckled.
Jensen laughed with her, "Well, I do like the length of it," he stared at her hair, "But did you have to color it like this?"
YN rolled her eyes, "Didn't we just have this huge heart-to-heart with 'change' being a thing? These colors help me express myself."
"Just...don't come home with piercings or tattoos please," Jensen sighed.
"No promises on the piercings. You know, I've always wanted my navel pierced."
Jensen shook his head, "Absolutely not."
"How about my second holes in my ears?"
"That we can discuss."

Bragger - Dean x fem!reader part 2
Suggested by @rileynicole1967 based on the song Bragger by Kelsea Ballerini.
(Y/N) stared the vampires down, wishing that she had at least some sort of weapon on her.
“Stay behind me.” She told her parents, trying to keep an eye on all three of them.
“Listen here, you buncha hooligans” Her dad, pulled her behind him as she protested, “I don’t know who you vampire wannabes think you are but you need to get out of my house.” Dad’s big head was going to get them all killed.
“Don’t be the hero, old man.” The one in the middle looked around him to (Y/N).
“So, where is Dean Winchester?” He asked, “We got a couple questions for him.” Dad looked back at her, hands on his hips.
“They’re here because of him? He just keeps getting better and better.” He complained.
“(Y/D/N)!” Her mother glared.
“What? Are you trying to defend him?” He asked. The lead Vampire and (Y/N) made eye contact. He raised his eyebrows are her as if he were asking if they were really like this. She nodded, shrugging her shoulder. The vampire let out a deep breath. He reached forward, grabbing her father by the neck and lifting him in the air. (Y/N) and her mother reached out but were stopped by the henchmen.
“Old man, I think it’s about time you stopped talking. Man alive, if my daddy was anything like you I woulda killed him faster.” Her father’s eyes widened, swinging his feet back and forth.
“Put him down, it’s me you want, I can get Dean here.” She pleaded.
“Oh I know you can, sweet thing. I’m just wanting a quick bite.” His sharp teeth came down from his gums. Dad’s eyes widened even more.
“Then wait until you get Dean.” (Y/N) reasoned, “You capture Dean and eat them as a reward.” The vampire thought a moment then nodded, setting Dad back down on his feet.
“You make a good point. Why don’t you give him a call?” He tossed me my parents landline.
-
Dean his just been mindlessly driving around the small town, watching the locals go in and out of shops and restaurants. This didn’t seem like a bad place to grow up. Didn’t seem like a bad place to live. He wondered if (Y/N) ever wanted to come back here.
His thoughts were broken from his phone ringing, from a number he didn’t recognize. But this was the phone designated for hunters so it was someone he knew.
He hit answer, pressing the phone to his ear, “You got Dean Winchester.”
“Dean, it’s me.” (Y/N)’s voice crackled over the phone.
“Hey, look, I’m sorry-”
“Oh it’s fine. Don’t worry about the vase. Accidents happen.” He quickly glanced at the phone.
“What?”
“I know that you accidently knocked over my grandparents urn, but all has been forgiven.” Grandparents urn had been their code for vampires.
“Is everything okay?” He asked, starting to turn his car around.
“Oh and before I forget mom and I are gonna start making your favorite - red velvet cake.” She said gleefully. That was bad. Red velvet cake was code for hostage situation, need back up now.
“I’m on my way.” He gripped onto the steering wheel, hanging up the phone.
-
(Y/N) set the phone down and sighed, “He’s on his way.”
“Excellent.” The vampire reached out, holding onto her chin. His hands were ice cold, cold as death.
“I may just turn you. You seem to understand when you’ve been beat.”
“You get your dirty hands offa her!” Her mother shouted, struggling against the restraints they had been put in. While on the phone, her parents had been strapped to chairs from the dining room table.
“Lady,” The vampire pulled his hands away, “I really don’t like hearing lip from a lush.” Her mother gasped.
“You can’t talk to her like that-” Before her dad could continue, they were both gagged by the henchmen.
“Now...” The leader turned back to (Y/N), “Why don’t you let us have a taste, huh?” The vampire grinned, stalking forward. (Y/N) stepped back. He laughed.
“Aww sweetheart, don’t play coy.” He nodded for his other henchmen to move forward. The lacky came forward, grinning. As she backed away, her hand brushed the side of her bag. She stopped, subtly grabbing the syringe of dead man’s blood she kept there. When he got close enough, she popped the top and slammed the needle into his neck. He cried out and back away, stumbling back into the wall, holding his neck. He slide down the wall. The other lacky came around.
“Hey!” The henchman kneeled down and looked over his partner, “Deadman’s blood.” He stood up, stomping towards (Y/N), “YOU BITCH!” He stopped mid step, eyes wide. In front of the eyes of her parents and the lead vampire, the henchman’s head slid off and landed on the floor with a sickening thud. His body followed. In his place stood Dean with a machete.
“I told you those syringes work.” He grinned.
“Is now the right time for you to tell me ‘I told you so’?” She said in an exasperated voice.
Dean looked from her to the two vampires still alive, and the lead vampire looked pissed, “Right.”
The lead vampire growled, rushing Dean. Dean swung.
Dad and Dean drove the pickup truck to the dump with a trap covering the back end. Mom and (Y/N) followed in the Impala. Mom was fiddling with her fingers, very clearly having things on her mind.
“He’s not a fireman, is he?” She asked.
“(Y/N) shook her head, “Nope.”
“And he isn’t volunteering at a youth shelter?”
“Nope.”
“And you’re not a lawyer are you? You do what he does, kill monsters.”
I chewed on the inside of my cheek, “Yeah.”
“Sweetheart, why didn’t you tell us-”
“Would you have approved?” She cut off her mom, “What was I supposed to tell you? That I dropped out of school and started hunting monsters? You would have had me committed.” When they made it to the dump, Dean and Dad had parked and opened the back of the truck. They were grapping the garbage bags of bodies and started a pile. Mom went to open the door of the impala.
“I wouldn’t, the smell is the worst.” At her words, mom took her hand off the handle.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Mom asked.
Dean and (Y/N) father loaded the last of the vampires bodies off the truck and into the pile. Out from his jacket pocket, Dean brought out a flask of lighter fluid and a book of matches.
“So, what if the cops find this?” (Y/F/N) asked.
Dean shook his head, “These bastards burn to dust. All they’re gonna find is burnt plastic.” He dumped the lighter fluid on the pile, then lit the matches, tossing the book on the pile that went up in flames. They both stared in the flames in silence.
“You married my daughter?” Her father asked. She must have told him when he left.
“I did.”
“Where’s her ring?”
Dean ran his thumb over his ring ring finger where his mother’s ring had been, “I proposed to her my mother’s. She wore it around her neck today so you didn’t see it and get upset that you weren’t invited.”
“Well, I am upset.”
“Sir, with all due respect and believe me I’m trying to even give you the respect that (Y/N) would want me to, I wanted to invite you, my brother did as well. But she didn’t. She didn’t want to continue to bring you into this lie, bring you closer to her so that you would be in danger.”
“She’s in danger being around you.” He sneered.
Dean glared, “Don’t you think I told her that?” That seemed to surprise him, “I told her that I wasn’t safe, that what I do wasn’t safe for her. I love your daughter, it killed me to push her away.” Dean looked back at the flames, “But she’s  stubborn. Must get that from you.”
(Y/F/N) smiled a little, “Yeah, she’s a rock, ain’t she?” He shoved his hands in his pockets, “Alright, I’ll allow this... But, you guys gotta visit once a year. At least.”
“You gonna keep giving me crap?” Dean asked, looking at her father’s out of the corner of his eye. Her father thought a moment, sticking out his bottom lip.
“I’ll keep it to myself.”
Dean hummed, “Deal.” They shook hands.
-
“Bye, sweetie.” Mom grinned, hugging her. She was dressed head to toe in cleaning gear to start cleaning up the blood.
“Mom, I said I would help.” (Y/N) started.
“No, no, you need to get on the road. That’s a long drive back to Kansas.” (Y/N) hugged her dad. He pulled away, holding her cheeks in his hands.
“Now there’s my happy little girl.” He smiled. (Y/N) tightened her lips, tears in her eyes.
“Dad, come on.”
“Hey, hey, no tears, Mrs. Winchester.” Dean, who managed to get out of her mother’s arms and came over, shaking her father’s hand.
“I’ll call when we get home.” (Y/N) said as Dean walked her to the car.
After a few hours on the road, (Y/N) started feeding Dean cookies to help him stay awake on the road.
“These are so good.” He hummed around a bite. She giggled and fed him another cookie, he nipped at her fingers. She laughed, taking the cookie and biting it. With one hand on the wheel, the other hand taking hers, looking over her her left hand where her wedding ring was.
“I hated that you didn’t have this on all day.” He said softly.
“I know, Dean-Bean, but I was just afraid of what they would say.”
Dean chuckled, “I understand why. Your dad is so intense.”
“I know I’m sorry. But at least we don’t have to lie anymore.” She sighed, resting her head on the window.
Dean looked over, then back at the road, “Well, we die lie about one thing.” He poked her stomach.

had really horrendous destiel brainrot today for some reason and all I could think about was this completely ridiculous crack concept that kept making me laugh hysterically while I was supposed to be working.
so basically i just started s12 of SPN and am amusing myself greatly by imagining that Mary is like [looking eyes emoji] at Dean Cas interactions and I was like...imagining her trying to talk to Dean about it like "Oh so...Castiel seems like a very nice angel...very...handsome" and how Dean would react to that and I realized that, oh my god, Dean's denial is so deep and vast that he'd just be like Oh Wow. Mom...is in Love With Cas.
like just...imagining Dean...trying to parent trap Cas and Mary...his denial working overtime to convince himself that This Is Good and he totally wants this to happen. He's like, well, Mom is perfect of course, and Cas is...CAS, he's so you know, Great, so for them to be together is perfect and right and the way it should be. They Deserve To Be Happy.
Sam is like You Are DEPRAVED. Are you POSSESSED. And Dean is like, Sammy, don't worry, it's not like Cas could ever replace Dad of course and Sam is just [screams internally] THAT IS NOT MY CONCERN hERE!
(but also just a tiny bit it is and there is like a teeny one percent part of him that's like DID YOU FUCK MY MOM CASTIEL.)
And Cas and Mary who...like each other fine, but are Not in love with each other are just like. completely mystified like literally have no capacity to understand what is occurring even though Cas HAS in fact seen The Parent Trap (Lindsay Lohan and Mary Kate and Ashley version, of course, b/c Cas exclusively has trashy taste in television and I love that for him). like they walk into the bunker one day and there's like candles and rose petals everywhere and Dean serves them pasta and then flees and they just. stare at each other. Mary's like. Do you even eat. And Cas is like. No.
like whenever dean talks to either of them he's like, Wow, Cas doesn't mom look great today? and poor Cas is just like "what." like NOTHING in his life has prepared Castiel to answer the question of whether a 30 year old human woman who is the mother of the man he's in love with "looks great today." Dean keeps being like SO Mom isn't Cas GREAT and Mary is internally like He's Fine but wants to encourage her son and unfortunately I'm pretty sure they didn't have PFLAG in 1970s Lawrence Kansas so she's always just like OHH YEAH he's great! He's the best! Love when he uh stabbed that demon the other day. That was uuhhhhhh very uhhhhhhhhhhhhh s-sexy? And Dean is like AHA PROOF while simultaneously feeling like he is going to die and Sam is in the background like. did you fuck my mom castiel.
*side note but Cas is genuinely sad and hurt like a little lost puppy that Sam is suddenly being lowkey very cold to him. He misses his buddy :(
[am imagining Kevin and Charlie and Bobby and Rufus up in heaven watching all of this and eating popcorn. No I know they never met alive BUT. hear me out. bestie squad. Charlie of course is a Destiel shipper. Obviously. Kevin doesn't so much ship it as view it as simple fact. annoying fact. every time Dean or Cas does something ridiculous he yells and throws popcorn. Bobby at first is like "what? no" but after three hours alone with Charlie he's fully Team Destiel. Rufus is merely there for the laffs. They have bets going on the outcome, Charlie is all-in on this ending with Dean and Cas kissing, Kevin is like no, they'll nEVER work it out, they're tOO DENSE.]
at some point Crowley and Rowena get dragged in for elaborate shenanigans of course and Rowena is like "Wait but isn't that poor wee angel in love with y-" and then Crowley kicks her and hisses "Don't RUIN this for me!!!" all of which Dean conveniently fails to notice even though it happens like two feet away from him. Crowley like, genuinely doesn't know what he wants to happen here and of course is very conflicted what with the, you know, HISTORY between him and both of them (what history? you mean when you pathetically pined over both of them and then they both rejected you? Rowena says rudely) but ALSO he desperately wants to see any and all ensuing chaos and fallout.
eventually it does all dramatically falls out and Mary is like WHAT the fuck is a parent trap (the first movie came out in the '60s but she did not see it) and Cas is like. Mary Kate and Ashley or Lindsay Lohan and Dean is like oh obviously Lindsay Lohan and Sam is having a very small quiet seizure so no one notices. and then like a week later Dean is like Wait Cas are you pissed at me? and Cas is just [screams internally] how could you think that I'm in love with your MOTHER instead of--- and dean is like [totally not having a panic attack] instead of who? and Cas is like very quiet you know who and Dean is like even more quiet who
and anyway long story short, Charlie takes the whole pot up in heaven.
