Over the last number of months, Warner Brothers Discovery and the company’s new CEO David Zaslav have been reshaping the studio's offerings from the DC Universe and beyond. This included canceling films like Batgirl and The Wonder Twins. However, another major franchise that has been affected by the recent WBD merger has been a pup named Scooby-Doo. The classic animated series saw its sequel to Scoob!, Scoob: Holiday Haunt axed in favor of a tax write-off last summer. However, while many Scooby-Doo fans weren’t happy with the decision, it has been learned that this wasn’t the only cancelled Scooby-Doo film. Director Carolyn Gair recently revealed that her film Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise also became the victim of the dreaded tax write-off. The worst part is, the movie was set to bring back the series’ fan-favorite fictional band The Hex Girls.

The Haunted High Rise

This news comes courtesy of an interview with the JayBee & Milly YouTube channel where Gair talked as much as she could about the canned Hex Girl film. Apparently, this was a project that was also deep into its production. The voice-over work was all finished and the animation process was about to start when Zaslav cut the film. If that news couldn’t get any worse, the original Hex Girl voice actors Jennifer Hale (Thorn), Kimberly Brooks (Luna), and Jane Wiedlin (Dusk) had returned for the film and even new songs which, given The Hex Girls’ track record, would have been instant classics.

The Hex Girls' Legacy

There’s really not much else known about the project, but over the last 25 years, The Hex Girls have become animation royalty. The music group debuted in 1999’s beloved Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. This was the sequel to Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island which reinvigorated interest in the iconic franchise. The Hex Girls were riffing on the girl bands of the time with a signature Scooby-Doo flavor that was to die for. Thorn, Luna, and Dusk all had this distinct style with their songs being some of the catchiest tunes you will ever hear. “Hex Girl,” "Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air”, “The Witch’s Ghost”, and “Scooby Snacks” are just a few of their iconic hits. After their debut appearance, they would be featured in several other Scooby projects and most animated iterations of the franchise going forward. This would include What’s New Scooby-Doo?, Scooby-Doo and the Legend of The Vampire, Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?. Even though they have only existed for less than half of Scooby’s 50-plus-year lifespan, it's hard to imagine a time in the franchise without this Goth-loving rock band. Like Scooby himself, The Hex Girls have been included on countless merchandise and the band has even received their own Funko Pops.

The State of Scooby-Doo

Scooby-Doo’s in a bit of an odd spot at the moment. The franchise just finished up the first season of its adult series Velma which was full of blood, murder, and crude self-aware humor. While most fans of the franchise hated the show, Season 2 is already underway, and it's actually a pretty fun series. Hopefully, the Hex Girls can make an appearance in the HBO series.

The animated direct-to-video film Trick or Treat, Scooby-Doo!, which Gair was a storyboard artist on, was also released last fall after the news that the Scoob! Sequel was shelved. The film was a great homage to the franchise and pushed the series into the 21st century by having Velma come out as a lesbian. It was a wonderful step forward for the franchise, but Zaslav hasn’t made any friends with this Hex Girl news. If there’s one thing you don’t take away from Scooby-Doo fans, it’s more Hex Girl content. From the sounds of it, Haunted High Rise was going to put the spooky band at the forefront of the story. While thinking about what could have been with this second canceled Scooby-Doo film, you can watch The Hex Girls jamming out in The Witch’s Ghost down below. Most of the Scooby-Doo franchise is now streaming on HBO Max.

Six Spooky September Recs

I know, it's not September yet, but it's coming soon, and I always feel like the beginning of autumn is a perfectly good time to start getting into the Halloween mood. So I'm recommending six books to help you get this year's spooky season going. I've tried to restrict myself to less famous or more contemporary works (we all love The Haunting of Hill House, yes, yours truly included, but it's a pretty well-known novel), and only picked books that really stayed with me. Mind the content warnings on StoryGraph for each of these.

The Red Tree by Caitlín R. Kiernan is a very, very good eldritch horror novel with a complex and deeply flawed lesbian protagonist; it's also an unsubtle but insightful examination of mental illness, toxic relationships, and the way people sometimes just can't do right by each other. Lots of hypnotic prose, bitter dialogue, and some nightmarishly beautiful imagery.

Sisters by Daisy Johnson is a very sharp, contemporary literary thriller that puts a new spin on the 'woman who has something wrong with her moves into house that has something wrong with it' Gothic trope. I picked this book up just on a whim and got completely hypnotized by the corrosive character dynamics and the haunting atmosphere.

Cast a Cold Eye by Alan Ryan is, simply put, my favorite ghost story. Set in a remote Irish village, it's the slowest of slow burns but utterly terrifying sometimes, written in literary, imaginative prose and threaded with themes of community, history and tradition examined thoughtfully through literal and metaphorical hauntings. Also, the writing is just genuinely beautiful.

Through the Woods by Emily Carroll: THE horror comic book for me. Gorgeous art and terrifying little tales (including the celebrated His Face All Red), what more do you need?

Experimental Film by Gemma Files is another excellent eldritch horror story told through a very unique perspective. The novel is about Lois, a bitter film critic who is trying to balance a difficult family life with the disappointment of her professional career, until she stumbles across a mystery in cinematic history that leads her to something terrifying. I'm pretty hard to freak out, but man, this book always does the trick. (For bonus nightmares, also read her short story each thing i show you is a piece of my death, which explains a certain side character's backstory and is literally the scariest goddamn thing I've ever read.)

And finally, Killer Verse: Poems of Murder and Mayhem is exactly what it sounds like: a poetry anthology examining the act of murder, from old ballads to contemporary poetry and through various points of view. Some of the poems are horrifying, some are bleak and some are really sad, but they all make for a hell of a read.

Serial: Time and the Rani - I still feel bad for Colin Baker. Quite enjoyed the Rani pretending to be Mel. I'm seriously impressed by Bonnie Langford's lung capacity - that girl can scream - and running through quarries ability.

Serial: Paradise Towers - Richard Briers taking a break from being good for few weeks. I think Bonnie Langford would have made a good Doctor, tbh. This season is kind of a slog so far.

Serial: Delta and the Bannermen - This one I like. The holiday camp with yellow coats. All the Welsh characters are amazing. Random Ken Dodd. It's bonkers but lovely with it.

Serial: Dragonfire - I will miss Mel. I liked her despite the odd introduction. But this was a good start for Ace. The second half of this season was definitely better than the first and I am enjoying McCoy!Doctor.

Serial: Rememberance of the Daleks - A great serial with lots of fun callbacks to the shows history. Some great supporting characters and a creepy little girl. What more can you ask for?

Serial: The Happiness Patrol - Lots of pink and a monster that looks like Bertie Bassett. Lots of interesting politics. I enjoyed it.

Serial: Silver Nemesis - That was a bit of a mish-mash and probably the weakest Cyberman story of all (so far).

Serial: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy - There are far, far too many clowns in this story. Maybe this is where my aversion to them started. Nope, nope, nope.

Serial: Battlefield - The Brigadier. I have missed him. I enjoyed this serial. I liked Ace getting a girlfriend. Wish Shou Yuing had stayed around tbh.

Serial: Ghost Light - I really liked this serial. A nice spooky ghost story, some Ace backstory, McCoy!Doctor being both a dick and a good egg.

Serial: The Curse of Fenric - Vampires, Vikings, Lesbians. It's a great story. I think if the past few years had been more like this season it may have survived. And speaking of...

Serial: Survival - The last Classic Who serial and the Master is back because he's the best. I feel bad for Ace's cheetah gf. It's quite an epic ending.

Happy Halloween!! Hope your all having a spooky day lol! Kept thinking about Scooby Doo and the different family members he's had, including Scrappy Doo. Unpopular opinion I love Scrappy Doo and the jokes about him suck. He wasn't that annoying people are just nitpicky. That being said I decided to give him a happy ending/ positive way out of the series. I was watching a video about the new Velma series when this comment really stood out (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdiqxR…) the video, that said this "Scooby could have been included as like, Shaggy's service dog. Picture it, Shaggy has extreme anxiety which results in him have panic attacks when frightened. So heres Scooby to calm him down, but Scooby has the problem of being easily frightened and thus needs to overcome his fears to help Shaggy. It adds something that can be worked on throughout the season(s) and adds representation that they want to have." Which in thought was an amazing idea, so all of Scooby's family are now service dogs raised by a witch (which is how they have the ability to talk and live longer. And no Shaggy didn't know any of this when Scooby was adopted). Scrappy, Scooby's rambunctious nephew was having trouble with his training (acting like a puppy) and often getting into trouble. Even sneaking off in the past and joining his uncle Scooby on there mysteries. Being sent back for being to young and rambunctious, getting into trouble. That being said he did finish his training and for a while had a hard time connecting to a person when in comes Alice. A young Vampire needing a service dog and the two instantly connected. Now Scrappy is having adventures with Alice and her older sister Bonnie as they travel through the monster world having adventures of there own. --- Brief Bio's: Elizabeth 'Bonnie' Lavenza (20): A blunt, snarky, straightforward, if not a bit mean Frankenstein girl. Alice's adopted older sister, she was originally brought to life by a mad scientist to be his servant. He was arrested and she was by an adopted by an older siren couple. Due to her past she's very protective and a bit of a temper, but she loves her siblings (including Scrappy). Has some electrical power's which she can use to fry tech and unnatural strength. Bonnie is an updated oc from (Hazbin Hotel Oc: Bonnie (outdated)) -Lesbian -Her original body died in the 1950's which is why she likes the greaser style so much -Enjoys marine biology. Scrappy Doo: Still the same pup who idolizes his uncle Scooby despite being his opposite. An adventure loving, energetic, puppy with a brave personality and a willingness to fight monster's head on. A personality that had gotten him into trouble  on more than one occasion. The smallest of his litter, Scrappy wanted to prove himself and the stories he was told about his uncle didn't help. Often running away to join the gang until he was finally sat down and explained why what he was doing wasn't good or helping. This caused him to settle down and finish his service dog training. While it did take a while he met Alice and now he goes of on adventures of his own. -The youngest of his litter. -Doesn't like Scooby Snacks (don't tell his uncle) Alice Lavenza (18): A positive, upbeat, friendly, if not a little naïve vampire that tends to get into trouble with her over-zealousness. Similar to Scrappy, Alice is an adventurer at heart, wanting to go and explore the world. Wanting to solve mysteries and riddles all over the world.  Alice was left at the door step of an orphanage when she was seven and spent a year there before being adopted by her parent's. Having a lot of anxiety growing up she finally decided to get a service dog to help. There she met Scrappy and the rest is history. Has the typical Vampire abilities. -Demisexual -Is learning witchcraft Alice is an updated oc that I had back in 2016 Other info: While the Scooby gang solve mysteries in the human world, this trio runs around in the monster world. This is why Scrappy isn't scared of the fake monster's. Alice can go into the sun thanks to magic potions.

Jinkies! Another Scooby-Doo! movie!

Since the original series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! started running in 1969, the gang from the Mystery Machine has crossed decades and generations of fans, mixing comedy, pop music and classic monster frights into a fun-filled romp. Over the years, the characters have spawned 16 (!!!) different TV series, as well as nearly 40 (!!!) movies – both animated and live action, made for TV, straight to video, or theatrical.

This latest movie is pretty standard fare, a lot of fun but not exactly pushing the envelope that much. Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! does make some concessions to modern edginess – particularly by chastely acknowledging that Velma Dinkley is probably a lesbian, or at the very least bi-curious. (Note to people who are just itching to be offended just because of this storyline: Velma’s sexuality is not really delved on, it’s all done rather matter-of-factly.)

It also plays around with the gender politics of the Mystery Machine gang – even though no one seems to know what exactly it is that Daphne does for the gang other than being pretty, it turns out that she’s sort of the behind-the-scenes leader of the group.

However, for the most part, Trick or Treat, Scooby-Doo! is just a loving – if slightly post-modern – celebration of the old series – particularly the classic first season.

Trick or Treat also erases the turn-of-the-new-millennium tendency to make the monsters real, instead making them mostly people in monster costumes. And every one of them says when caught a variation of, “And I would have gotten away with it too, if not for those meddling kids and their dog.

In fact, the main villain is indeed the costumer who created all of the classic monsters over the years – including the Spooky Space Kook, The Black Knight, The Ghost Diver and The Ghost Clown, all of whom appear in this film. This super-villain/seamstress is Coco Diablo, a Eurotrash-pretty designer who has apparently been costuming all of the monsters locally for decades (even though she looks no more than 25 years old). She is also the person who Velma gets a crush on.

When the Mystery Inc. kids put the designer in jail, suddenly all of their cases dry up. After a year of saving cats from trees, they are desperate for work. And when a group of ghosts – all of which seem to be ancestors of the gang – shows up, they jump at the chance for a real case. They also get help from the jailed Coco and a fanboy prison warden.

The trick and the treat about Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! is that the movie works equally well for young fans just discovering the characters or long-time followers who are just watching for the nostalgic rush. There are plenty of Easter eggs to keep adults happy mixed with lots of creeps and comedy for younger viewers. The movie isn’t trying to reinvent the franchise, just tweak it enough to keep everyone engaged.

And they got away with it too, those meddling kids and their dog.

Fox Mulder:

The first person he told was Samantha

She accepted him immediately as her big brother and told him he should name himself Fox (it was her favorite animal at the time)

He was going to make his name William Mulder Jr. up until she disappeared, in which he actually decided to make his first name Fox (he misses her 🥺)

Came out to his parents sometime in high school, both took it badly

Bill was hella transphobic—he was already pretty shitty to Mulder but this added a whole new layer to it

Teena was more passive aggressive about it but still made withering comments about how she “lost two daughters now”

Some high school friends (*chants* PHOEBE AND GIMBLE PHOEBE AND GIMBLE) helped Mulder start T and change his legal name on government documents before he left for Oxford

Mulder wanted to go stealth while he was there but came out to Phoebe

When they broke up, she outed him to everyone

Things got so bad that he almost dropped out

Mulder joined the FBI, excited at the prospect of knowing no one and being able to go exclusively by his last name

He was somewhat happy of his solitude in the basement—no one really looked into him past his spooky nature, so no one could find out he was trans

Since Samantha, Scully was the first person who was truly accepting of who he really was

Got top surgery sometime before Colony

Definitely fell in love with Scully right after reading her profile skrjnwkdjwka

Mulder and Krycek were definitely an item for a hot sec until Krycek went evil

Mulder is 500% faithful to Scully but kinda had a crush on Doggett for a little bit

Dana Scully:

Definitely experimented in college and had a couple girlfriends there and through med school

Ending up breaking up with a girl she was really close with because Scully’s job was just putting too much strain on their relationship

It was really hard on her and made her swear off serious relationships for a long time

She thought Mulder was adorable from the moment she saw him but was really scared of actually developing feelings for him so she pushed it down

And kept pushing it down until she finally realized Mulder was never going to hurt her and actually let him in

I’m just ranting about MSR now oops

100% faithful to Mulder but thought Reyes was super hot

Scully is just a distinguished bi idk what else to say

Walter Skinner:

Grew up in a really conservative family and didn’t even consider it an option until he moved out

Skinner was attracted to a lot of guys in his squad in Vietnam but he thought it was just because there were no women around

(Spoiler alert: it wasn’t)

Skinner fell in love with John “Kitten” James and he fell hard

Absolutely did everything possible to protect that man

He was terrified of his feelings though and pushed them down, eventually starting to resent his best friend for making him feel things he couldn’t understand

When Kitten got infected by that gas, Skinner put his values over the man he loved, not just because he thought it was the right thing to do, but because he was terrified that he might be bi

He has regretted it ever since

Married his wife after the war and had a pretty good relationship until he became too consumed with his work

Their breakup was really hard on him and he delved even more into his work

Sometime after Avatar (maybe by season 5 or 6), Skinner meets a really lovely man and that man becomes his boyfriend

It’s really hard at first, but the guy helps Skinner to open up and allow himself to be okay with who he really is

They make time for each other outside of work and are really happy together!

Skinner’s boyfriend is 100% okay with the fact that Skinner has basically adopted all these agents

Skinner is everyone’s dad!!! No exceptions

John Byers:

Discovered it pretty late in life, like he knew earlier but he Repressed it

First person he ever came out to was Mulder (as in my fic 😌)

Lots of internalized transphobia in this man but Mulder and the Lone Gunmen really helped him break out of that

Langly and Frohike obviously went with him to get his first T shot and chanted “MAN JUICE” while it happened (scaring a lot of the nurses)

Met Susanne before he transitioned so seeing her again in Three of a Kind was a little terrifying for him

She accepts him though and is a bi icon herself

Byers wears suits so much because they make him feel really validated

Ringo Langly:

Non-binary and gay!! Langly uses any pronouns (gonna stick to he/him for this list to keep things simple though)

Grew up pretty unaware about gender as a whole, just living his life

Moving away from home to a city was huge for him, he started going to gay bars and really realized that he was gay

Eventually started to experiment with his gender, using different pronouns etc., and found out he was non-binary!

Came out to Frohike shortly after learning Frohike was bi (more on that later)

Goes by Ringo because it’s somewhat gender neutral

He isn’t dysphoric very often but when he is it’s very hard for him to cope, Byers and Frohike are always there to support him and help however possible though

Langly gets way more dates than Frohike and loves to brag about it

Melvin Frohike:

Frohike had a mega crush on Mulder when he first met him and it persisted all the way until he met Scully

John Doggett

GAY MAN

Doggett was really repressed for a lot of his life, not because he thought his family would hate him for being gay but mostly because of his environment

(He was a drama kid though)

The military REALLY repressed him and thoroughly fucked him up

It wasn’t until he met Reyes that he started to accept himself more

At first Reyes being a lesbian totally freaked him out and he was really upset, leading to a huge strain on their friendship, but one night he broke down and told her he was pretty sure he was gay

Reyes really helped him through everything, especially his divorce from his wife and the loss of his son

Doggett eventually came out to his dad, who was super accepting

It took Doggett a long time to be comfortable enough to date but he started and met a really great guy, one who he’s now married to

One day he mentioned his boyfriend in passing and the rest of the Spooky Squad totally flipped out because they had no idea he was gay

Doggett just straight-faced “I didn’t think it was relevant?”

Monica Reyes:

A lesbian

There isn’t a straight bone in her body have you SEEN her???

Absolutely crushed on Scully for the longest time at first, totally backed off when she realized she was involved with Mulder

The Christmas headcannons that no one asked for but I’m giving anyway

the first time the boys spent christmas with the girls was their sophomore year of highschool. the girls found out they had been alone for the holidays for the past 3 or so years, and that wouldn’t stand anymore

it was a little awkward cause this was the first time the Prof met them all together at the same time

all six of them have a yearly tradition of Secret Santa

they still do the “individual” gifts for each other, so secret santa is more about the guessing game than the actual present given

one year Brick got Buttercup and literally had a mental breakdown cause he didn’t know what to get her

he called Blossom up screaming about how “YOUR SISTER IS UNREADABLE WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU GET A PERSON WHOS POKER FACE IS ON YEAR ROUND”

this is especially great considering how Brick is a literal human(ish) lie detector

so he’s able to read people well but Buttercup is the one person he can’t get a grasp on

he tries SO HARD but to no avail

he ends up getting her boxing gloves (with Butches help, cause that boy and Mitch are the only two people on earth who even partially know what’s going on in her head) . she loves them, but trying to guess who got them for her was a mess

Butch got Bubbles exactly 3 times in a row for a few years, and without fail every year he got her lesbian earrings. his reasoning for this was “she makes them so obviously it’s something she’d like as a gift”. it didn’t run through his brain that “hey, maybe since she has the materials to make these exact earrings I should get her something else”. he’s trying, that’s what’s important

Bubbles lives off the peppermint mochas from starbucks during the holiday season

so Buttercup’s gift to her every single year is a giant pack of peppermint mocha mix

it’s literally half the size of Bubble’s face, but it only lasts her 1 week

Bubbles gets scared for everyone’s health and she doesn’t want anyone to catch a cold (even though they have X and literally none of them have ever been sick from a human disease before and they also live in California so what??) so she forces everyone to wear at least 3 layers at all times

Buttercup makes the scarves because Bubbles “doesn’t trust corperate chains, they don’t make em thick enough”

Blossom (surprisingly) makes Butch and Buttercup take a picture with Brick to post to the official team instagram with the caption “our most festive team members” (green and red). the picture is the three of them standing pin straight and grumbling as Butch is shaking and about to freeze his ass off

did I mention that Butch gets the coldest out of everyone? he cannot handle cold weather. anything below 65° is torture for him

luckily Buttercup comes to the rescue and knits him a shit ton of clothes to combat the “frost bite”

well, it’s more like Butch taps on her window at 2 in the morning and starts groveling at her feet

“I HAVENT SLEPT IN 2 DAYS BUTTERCUP PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU I NEED THIS DEAR GOD I’LL DO ANYTHING PLEASE JUST. ONE. SWEATER.”

Butch’s favorite is Home Alone 3 (disappointed everyone noises), Brick’s is Miracle on 34th Street, Boomer’s is The Santa Clause, Bubbles likes the original 2D animated Grinch, Blossom likes The Polar Express, and Buttercup is that one person who says her favorite is Die Hard

Mitch once suggested that The Nightmare Before Christmas was a Christmas movie and he was barred from the Utonium household by Buttercup for 3 weeks

she is very serious about her Halloween movies. The Nightmare Before Christmas is strictly for the spooky holiday.

Buttercup being a stealth wizard who sneaks into Butches room at 3am, grabs armfuls of hoodies, then rolls out

she gets caught by Brick but since Brick is the ultimate bro (well... debatable. he’s the ultimate bro but only for BC) he lets her go and never speaks of the incident to anyone

If you’re into horror, like tma:

Alice Isn’t Dead- By Night Vale Presents so you know it’s good. Anxious lesbian trucker takes off around the country looking for her missing wife, accidentally gets wrapped up in spooky supernatural stuff. Also has some pretty interesting commentary on America and society as a whole. Actually has a happy ending, so that’s a plus!

Old Gods of Appalachia- Horror anthology podcast that focuses on the eldritch happenings that go on in old Southern mining towns, in the 19th & 20th century. Very aesthetically pleasing. Each season so far has an arc about a specific town, and a second arc about this immortal asexual witch and her enormous pet bear. It’s good shit.

King Falls AM- I’m not very far into this one, but you’ve probably heard of it. Your local small town is known for being haunted, radio station reports all the spooky happenings. It’s funny, and pretty lighthearted (at least so far.) A good podcast to wind down to.

If you’re into sci-fi: (most of the podcasts I listened to are spacey and they’re all SO GOOD)

The Penumbra Podcast- Yeah after tma this is probably the most well known podcast out there. I won’t say much except that it’s SO SO GOOD and you should definitely check it out. You can either listen to a private investigator on Mars solve dangerous cases, fall in love, and work through his extensive childhoood trauma OR listen to a bunch of dumbass knights in a medieval citadel fight monsters and learn that maybe they shouldn’t be fighting monsters. Everyone is queer. It’s a fantastic ride either way.

Wolf 359- oh my god oh my god this goddamn podcast. I can’t even. I can’t. Ahhhhh anyway so a four-person crew on a space station orbiting a red dwarf star are searching for signs of alien life, and they possibly end up stumbling on an alien race, while also discovering that the company that sent them up there *might* not have humanity’s best interest at heart. Has found family galore, valuable lessons about personhood, and just overall so much good stuff. Starts out as a comedy but gets intense pretty fast. WILL rip your heart out.

The Strange Case of Starship Iris- Honestly in terms of number of relistens... this might be my favorite podcast ever. It’s definitely up there. Only has one season right now and only ten episodes but more is coming and I can’t wait. Your local gay space smugglers accidentally get caught up in a massive government conspiracy and try to stay alive while unraveling the mysteries behind a past intergalactic war, trying to bring down said oppressive government, and being as useless and gay as possible. It’s just. A lot of fun. TRUST me.

EOS 10- It’s uhh basically a sitcom about a team of doctors on a space station? At least it starts out that way. There’s a pretty big shift in tone after season two, it’s goofy, & the plot’s kinda all over the place but who CARES because it’s friggin hilarious. Half the time I have no clue what’s going on but it’s still really enjoyable.

Girl in Space- The name says it all, really! A scientist clone is living on her spaceship all alone doing her research and is perfectly content...until a huge fleet of ships turns up on her doorstep claiming she’s now their company’s property. Her life now consists of imprisonment, mutinies, and giving lectures about human rights to the company’s employees. It’s got science, it’s got Jurassic Park references, it’s got sentient stars! What more could you ask for.

If you’re into more modern fantasy:

The Bright Sessions- A group of people called ‘atypicals’ have special abilities that are, essentially, superpowers. And what do they do? They go to therapy!! It’s all well and good until they find out that their mysterious therapist may or may not plan to use them & their powers to rescue her brother who’s being held captive in an evil agency. Whoops. Anyway it’s got lots of lovable characters, adorable romances, and emotional moments that make you want to sob. It’s great.

The Far Meridian- A girl with severe agoraphobia lives in a lighthouse with her brother, until one day he disappears. Shortly after, her lighthouse starts moving somewhere different every day, and she travels the world searching for her brother. This is just a really nice podcast. It’s about memories and friendship and finding magic in little things and it’s just...beautiful tbh. And sad. Beautiful and sad.
