So, I was thinking about how Andrew was in the car with Tilda when he wrecked it and how he could have gotten hurt and I just– Can you imagine if Andrew went deaf in one ear or something?
Like, he for sure wouldn't say anything about it. Aaron hates his guts, and he barely knows Nicky. Why would he bother telling either of them? He probably figures it could be temporary at first, but when he starts to think it might be permanent, he still says nothing about it. It's not like they would care, right?
So he would say nothing. People just think he's this asshole that ignores people (and, sure, sometimes he is ignoring them because people be fucking annoying) but half the time he just legitimately doesn't hear them. None of the Foxes notice. The staff don't either, since Andrew always keeps his hearing ear towards them. It causes issues, sure, but it's not like anyone would be able to fix it, so Andrew still stays quiet. But Neil figures it out.
It takes him a while, but he eventually notices that Andrew always sits on a certain side or has to turn to face Neil when he hasn't quite managed to pick up what he said. He starts watching and realises that he does it with the others too, and he's much more likely to completely ignore someone speaking to his left.
One day, when the monsters are hanging out, Neil finally decides to ask:
Neil decided to speak up during a lull in a conversation that Andrew was totally zoned out of. "Drew?"
"Hmm?" It's subtle, but Andrew definitely turned his right side slightly more towards Neil.
"Can you not hear out of your left ear?" Neil asked, and Andrew just blinked at him for a moment.
"Neil, what are you talking about?" Kevin shot him a confused look.
"I'm deaf in my left ear." Andrew said to answer them both.
"What??" Nicky looked startled. "Since when?"
Andrew considered that for a moment. "Since about a week before we met."
"Hold up," Aaron held up a hand. "Are you telling us you have been deaf in one ear since the crash?"
"Yes."
"And you didn't think to maybe say something about it?!"
Andrew shrugged. "I didn't think you would care." It wasn't a jab, it was just the truth.
"Andrew–" Nicky spluttered a little. "Of course we care!"
"Telling you doesn't really make a difference." Andrew said, glossing over his own surprise at how much his family seemed to genuinely care about him. "The hearing loss doesn't just go away because you know about it."
"No," Neil agreed. "But there are things we can do to help."
And they do. They all make small adjustments, simple things that make Andrew's life easier. He and Neil even learn ASL together. It increases the amount Andrew calls them all annoying ten-fold, but he secretly appreciates it.

tucked in the corner of a bathroom stall, kevin swallows his ragged breaths and counts each swing of the locker room door. first teammate out, another, another, until his own departure is the only one missing.
there's a twist in his stomach, another tight in his chest. a new season and team, familiar circumstances full of unfamiliar faces. the feeling of wrongness stretches through the expanse of his tall form, and he hates that exhausting himself in practice did nothing to quell it away.
kevin doesn't even think about it. for all he knows, the number dials itself. the line is picked up halfway through the second ring, and kevin feels his legs give out. he slides down the wall of the stall and lets the voice on the phone carry him far, far away.
(when kevin calls, andrew always picks up.)

Wholesome twinyard and neilaaron worsties. Based off this hc post where Andrew takes care of sick Aaron and Neil
Despite it being summer with warm temperatures there was a cold going among Columbia house. No one knows who was patient zero.
It could've been Nicky, who returned from Germany after visiting Erik, and came into contact with multiple travelers, being his normal talkative self and making tons of friendly acquaintances along the way.
It could've been Kevin, who actually broke his rigorous diet once Andrew finally found some guilty pleasure junk food to shut the Queen of Exy up about healthy balanced meals.
It could've been Aaron who was doing volunteer hours at the hospital in the children's ward where germ infected toys don't often get cleaned as they should when he's assigned to comfort the tiny bedridden patients.
It could've been Neil and Andrew tracking back whatever from their road trips.
Whoever did it, didn't matter, because everyone sans Andrew was sick. That meant, begrudgingly, Andrew had to nurse them back to health.
“Don't you have the blue Gatorade? It's my favorite.” Nicky complains in his corner of sickness, isolated in his bedroom.
Andrew stares at him with a bored expression. “You get what you get.”
He aimed the Gatorade at Nicky's head and his cousin barely dodged. Nicky pouts while opening up his drink full of electrolytes.
“Geez, why'd you have to get the strongest immune system? Your bedside manner is trash.”
“Aaron's the wannabe doctor. Not me. So, deal.”
And that's how it went. Andrew checked on Nicky, then checked on Kevin who was nesting in the living room recliner chair. Whereas Nicky still found a way to ramble nonsense even with a fever, Kevin was puking, often using his striker legs to run to the nearest garbage bin if the toilet wasn't close enough. Andrew tossed saltine crackers and a can of ginger ale into Kevin's lap. If Kevin was pale before due to his Irish genes, this illness makes him paler.
“I need to re-do our training schedule. We're going to be out of practice.” Kevin glumly worries as Andrew changes out the vomit filled garbage bin for a bucket.
“If you don't shut your face and let the medicine work, I'll skin you alive.” Andrew threatened and it did the trick, Kevin lounging back to promptly rest.
Andrew was so over playing caretaker. Nicky and Kevin are insufferable when sick. One would think Neil and Aaron would give them a run for their money. Both were very anti-medicine for their own personal reasons but surprisingly Neil and Aaron were Andrew's best patients. It certainly helped that both men latched onto having Andrew dote on them, and Andrew did treat Neil and Aaron with favoritism over Nicky and Kevin.
Beside Kevin, commandeering the living room couch, were Neil and Aaron. They weren't whiny or bitchy or assholes. They were being civil with each other? That was the first clue for Andrew that something was wrong. Neil and Aaron have a routine to piss each other off. It's a skill, the colorful insults and slick comebacks that they mudsling when all Andrew, Nicky, and Kevin want to do is chill in peace. When Andrew woke up to make coffee three days ago, he spotted Neil and Aaron on the couch, cuddled up of all things, and looking like absolute hell. That was day 1 of Columbia house catching colds.
Andrew checked up on his twin and his not-boyfriend last. He observed how Aaron and Neil shared a blanket, scooting closer to each other, their hazy eyes unfocused on the glowing screen of the TV. Neil was sniffling and Aaron was coughing. Neil was sweaty and Aaron was shivering. Neil used Aaron's shoulder as a pillow and Aaron used the top of Neil's head as his pillow. This uncanny sight was becoming the norm.
“Drink.” Andrew held out two cups of water that fizzed from dissolved medicine tablets.
Neil and Aaron obeyed, both silently basking in Andrew's attention, and gulped their waters like they were at Eden's taking shots. Andrew took their cups and gave them bowls of soup he prepared straight from the can. He watched Neil be able to scarf down piping hot soup while Aaron took his time to blow off the steam. Finally, Andrew held up a thermometer and frowned at the results.
“Nicky and Kevin are getting better. You two idiots keep passing your colds back and forth. You should separate.”
It's like Andrew had said something forbidden, the way Neil and Aaron stared at him.
“I'm serious. Aaron, you have your own bed. Neil, you can stay in mine or take the couch.”
“Where would you be?” Neil asked and Andrew arched a brow at how needy Neil sounded.
“Preserving my status as the last man standing. I'm not sharing a bed with you until you're healed.” Andrew just needed to know if Neil would take the bed or couch so he can bring his non-infected blankets and pillows with him to camp out.
“I don't wanna leave the couch.” Aaron's voice was hoarse from coughing.
“Me, neither.” Neil's voice was nasally from a stuffy nose.
Andrew didn't have time for this. “You guys can't keep passing the colds. It'll take longer for you to get better.”
And maybe, because they were both sick and not in their right minds, Neil and Aaron were a lot more honest in their reasoning than they usually would provide.
“Mom never stayed with me when I was sick,” Aaron revealed, snuggling into the shared blanket and into Neil's side more. “It's nice being sick with someone else.”
“Yeah.” Neil seconded, snuggling into Aaron as well. “I was on the run for years. Didn't get to be pampered much.”
Andrew wishes he could murder Tilda again for her lack of tenderness. He also wishes Neil talked about his own mother more and their secretive past that prevented standard caring. Andrew can't relate to Aaron and Neil's apparent desire for physical affection when ill, but he finds it amusing how similar they are. Guess that's why they argue with each other constantly.
“Fine.” Andrew let the delirious Neil and Aaron possessively claim the couch.
Even after Nicky beat his cold first, and Kevin a close second, it was nearly impossible to hang out in the living room because Neil and Aaron called dibs on the couch and refused to share. This bound Kevin to the recliner and Nicky to settle on the floor during movie nights. Andrew preferred to sit on the arm of the couch, making a pillow barrier between himself and Neil and Aaron because he'd be damned if he caught their colds.
Eventually, no one was sick in the house. Neil and Aaron pretended they hadn't been cozying up for a week half-conscious and fatigued. It was too late to be embarrassed, Nicky had properly snapped a bunch of pictures of Neil and Aaron sleepily hugging and drooling. Pictures Aaron prayed would never see the light of day if he had a say so. Neil, gold medalist in gaslighting, had perfect amnesia of such events and miraculously changed the subject every time it was brought up.
“Delete them all. Do it or else. Nicky, I swear I'll kill you.” Aaron hovered over Nicky's shoulder to make sure the evidence was destroyed. “If I find any in the cloud or sent to the Foxes group chat, Erik will be coming to your funeral.”
“Sheesh. Okay. I'm doing it. Not my fault you and Neil were sick buddies hogging the couch.”
“You don't remember anything. You sure?” Kevin once again tried to get Neil to acknowledge the truth.
“How about those Trojans?” Neil easily distracted Kevin, who fanboyed close to the sun over his favorite Exy team.
Little did Aaron or Neil know that Andrew already bullied Nicky into sending him the pictures. Andrew keeps a particular wallet sized picture tucked in his back pants pocket; Aaron and Neil leaning against each other, heads knocked together, snoring away.
“They'll never see the light of day. Scout's honor.” Nicky reassured, both Aaron and Neil's faces falling into relief.
Andrew wordlessly agrees with Nicky. Those pictures are for Andrew's eyes only.

in honor of valentines day here's my lil hc:
on vday, andrew refuses to show any more affection than normal, but leaves neil little gifts all over the dorm (a hoodie on his desk, breakfast ready on the counter, etc.). they're all perfectly wrapped with the corners tucked in. neil, loml, wants to reciprocate, but has no idea or concept of how gifts are supposed to work. cue andrew finding an orange on his desk, a single unlit cigarette in his pocket, and, finally, a container of ice cream wrapped in a bow that has completely melted all over the inside of his car

I'm supposed to be studying but I cannot stop thinking about Dreamer Andrew and Dream Aaron in a raven cycle au where it's just Tilda and Andrew for the first 4 years of Andrew's life. When one day, Tilda casually mentions that Andrew was supposed to be a twin, but is other half was absorbed in the womb. And 4 year old Andrew Minyard is obsessed with the idea of a twin, a sibling, a brother, a built in friend that can stave off some of the loneliness he feels because already, at 4, he's beginning to realize that Tilda isn't like other moms. Her words are more biting and her grip is sometimes too hard. She doesn't praise is drawings or read to nighttime stories. But if he had a brother, he wouldn't need Tilda. He would have his friend here forever.
And Andrew has been brining back things for months now.
So, on the night of his 5th birthday, after many crayon drawings and an admission from his mother that should his twin have lived, she would've named him 'Aaron', Andrew dreams. He knows what he looks like, from the light blond curls to the hazel eyes to the spattering of freckles across his cheeks. He doesn't forget any details. Twins are supposed to be identical, at least that's what the TV says. (later, Andrew will learn what fraternal twins are). The concept of his brother comes to life, a carbon copy of himself. His friend. His best friend. and when Andrew wakes up, a literal weight on his chest, paralyzed and barely breathing as something tickles his nose. He wants to twitch, but can't. There's a small groan, a little whimper before big hazel eyes are looking into his own. When Andrew can move again, he reaches over to flick on the light. And there he is. His brother.
"Your name is Aaron."
"Okay."
And that's that. Tilda isn't pleased in the slightest, but Andrew doesn't care. He has his brother. The brother he was supposed to have, the one that was supposed to be his.
It ends up being Luther that gives them the convenient lie, when they go for a rare visit after Aaron is dreamt. Luther expresses his pride that Tilda went back for him, how a mother shouldn't abandon her children as she did and all sorts of backhanded compliments that have Tilda snarling. But it does give them an easy explanation for Aaron's sudden existence. And Aaron is so new, made to follow Andrew that he doesn't question it, doesn't really understand it, just nods when Tilda says, "hear that brat? Be grateful I'm allowing you to stay at all." So they don't tell Aaron that he's a dream, that Tilda never went back for him because there was no one to go back for. That he sprouted from Andrew's dreams and his desire for a brother.
And Aaron won't find out, not until Neil Josten joins the Foxes and brings the Fairy Market and the hunt for Dreamers with him.

Wymack was Kevin's father, and a father figure to Neil and Andrew. Aaron watched the coach watch the three, gently pushing them to their limits and then pushing them beyond because he knew they were capable. The way David cares for Andrew makes Aaron's heart clench, his brother has the ghost of a smile when Wymack is arguing, but without the bite or accusations, it's a beautiful picture hardened in his memory before he leaves Palmetto.
Aaron spends years at university, good studies, lack of sleep, energy, five times facing stomach pain, he doesn't tell anyone about it, everything that will lead him to the end of the road, his diploma, internship, and graduation, he is tired of everything but happy, with a bouquet of flowers from Katelyn, and she has a similar one in her hands, they take pictures together as she walks on to greet her friends, kisses Aaron on the cheek, and Aaron sits down in a chair, putting the bouquet down on the next one, tired, with a slight headache.
"Aaron" comes from his left, and Aaron turns round.
Wymack, with the potted violets, had come up without Aaron noticing.
"Coach..." Aaron stands up, confused, as the man embraces him, hugging him, rubbing his back and shoulder.
"I'm not your coach anymore. You did well, good job." Aaron freezes at the words before hugging David back. "You worked hard, didn't you?"
Aaron nods, clears his throat, and sniffs. Wymack hands over the flowers, ruffling Minyard's hair.
"Was it hard?"
"A little easier than exy" Aaron replies, looking at the violets. Wymack snorts.
"You did well, son."
"Son", Aaron tries not to think about it, it's just a friendly nickname, like when Waimak used to call him "kid", but his cheeks seem to be burning.
Aaron gives him a tour of the corridors and halls, he briefly describes the teachers and subjects, and maybe the coach is just pretending, but he is very convincing, as if he is interested and wants to know how Aaron has been all this time. Minyard also asks about Palmetto, and laughs when Wymack swears at the players.
They walk back into the hall, still full of graduates and their families and friends, when Aaron sees Andrew. He knows Andrew had a game today and honestly wasn't expecting to see him, especially not at his graduation, Andrew crosses the path in a matter of seconds, they stand awkwardly, Andrew with an unseen nervousness reflected by the twitching of his hands and Aaron with a question in his eyes and the pot in his hand and the diploma between them, as Andrew makes one last move, hugging Aaron.
It's unexpected. The 16-year-old Aaron had little knowledge of consent, so when he sees his twin, whom he has known for 3 years, he rushes forward, hugging Andrew. Then Andrew froze for exactly a second and relaxed, it was instinctive, he wanted to throw Aaron away, as he later did with Nicky, who tried to touch him, but for some reason Andrew couldn't do it. They hugged once, because then Aaron realised that Andrew didn't like it.
But now Andrew does it first, not just hugging him back, but initiating the hug, something he had never done in his sober and uninjured state.
"You?" Aaron is confused, he raises his free hand but does not touch Andrew.
"I was in therapy," Andrew grumbles softly against his ear.
"You wanted to hug Josten?" Aaron knows Neil is around, so he looks for him to confirm.
"Neil and I do other things" Aaron hears Andrew's cheeky grin.
"Ew, gross."
"I wanted to give you a hug" Aaron stops squirming.
"Then can I touch you?"
"Go ahead."
Aaron puts his hand on Andrew's back, moves it up and down tentatively, and then stops.
"And why?" Aaron wants to know why Andrew would want to hold him.
"Because you like the way Nicky and Eric hugged you, because when you hugged me I felt safe, and if you feel the same way, then I'll do it for you."
Aaron leans into his brother's shoulder. To him, this doesn't feel like something Andrew would do for a deal, it feels like something Andrew would do for Neil, as his exception to the rules.
Aaron didn't really hug Andrew after the first time, but he was the one who touched Andrew, lightly, unobtrusively, reminding Andrew, who might have fallen out of reality, that he wasn't alone, they didn't have conversations, they were just there for the other. And Andrew had never flinched, he hated being touched, without warning, without permission, but with Aaron he didn't feel the same way.
Andrew, Neil, who later came into view standing next to the coach, and Wymack didn't stay long, Aaron didn't keep them away from all the greetings and conversations.
"Coach, what made you want to come here?" Andrew leans on the door of his car as Neil takes a picture of Aaron on Andrew's phone.
"I can't come to my child?" Wymack replies. "Send me his photo later."
Andrew stands up straight.
"Yes, Father" and nods like a promise, Wymack rolls his eyes at this.
"Maybe Andrew should have worn your robes, it would have been nice," Neil says as he and Aaron approach.
"Your hands are crooked, you can't do anything right," Aaron complains.
They say goodbye, promising to meet up later when Aaron finishes his internship, when he should call them to celebrate and Nicky and Eric will be coming from Germany. Andrew does indeed send photos of Aaron in his gown, with his diploma and bouquet in one hand and a pot of violets in the coach. Andrew posts one with a composed, serious Aaron on his Instagram, to which Nicky sends a crying emoji, and puts a photo of a smiling Aaron on his phone's desktop screen, with Neil on his lock screen, cuddling their two cats, the three of them sleepy and just waking up to the rays of the sun.

last but most certainly not least. pt 3 of the bonus chapters (TKM)
Aaron's chapter (once again going to be putting like. the whole thing here.)
One of these days Aaron would love to know what about that mouthy liar had people bending over backwards for him [...] He could waste his time being angry, or he could go the tried-and-true Minyard route of infuriating everyone else around him.
i love how much he despises neil fr. and the Minyard route???? i love that
"Hey, Bee," Aaron said.
why did this like. give me such nathaniel neil vibes. hes so cunty for this im obsessed
Andrew looked relaxed where he was tucked into the corner of the couch, one knee hugged loosely to his chest, but Aaron wasn't fooled. They were twins: there was too much of them in each other despite all the years they'd spent apart.
one) andrew is so cosy <333 two) ouch. THERE WAS TOO MUCH OF THEM IN EACH OTHER DESPITE ALL THE YEARS THEY'D SPENT APART????? literally screaming into a pillow at this one
"Did you know Andrew's fucking Neil?" [...] Andrew cut in with a flat, "I'm not." Andrew wouldn't waste his breath lying when Aaron was right here to argue with him, but Aaron knew his accusation wasn't far off the mark. [...] That Andrew hadn't sealed the deal yet was the least important detail, but Aaron was willing to be an ass about it.
I love that andrew is banking on the technicality that like. no he's not. they haven't. and aaron saying andrew hadn't "sealed the deal" has me SCREAMING. thats so funny
"Go slash some tires, or whatever it is you do for fun."
HES SO FUNNYYY
"You made him a priority," Aaron said. "[...] but for the record, I think he's an insufferable asshole. [...] Exy this, Exy that, get a fucking hobby. Oh, but i guess he did?" He sent a pointed look at Andrew.
GET A FUCKING HOBBY. aaron minyard i'd die for you.
"You know, I asked him about you. I asked him if he was taking advantage of you. He tried to punch me out." "You bring out that urge in people," Andrew said.
i'm so glad that we know now that andrew knows about this interaction. like i wonder how he felt hearing that.
"Betsy and I were talking about Monday." [...] Andrew hadn't called her "Betsy" in over a year. He'd never seen Andrew so hard on a back foot, and it was as terrifying as it was thrilling. [...] Andrew didn't want to talk about Neil with Dobson because once he broached that subject he either had to lie to all of them or admit Neil was more important that he wanted him to be.
throwing up, literally no words just throwing up
"I like Neil's promise ring, by the way."
AARONNNNN. HIS PROMISE RING. PLEASE. and also the "Matching set, very cute." why is he so funny
Andrew's smile was all ice, and he wielded honesty like a knife. "They're not decorative, you ignorant little shit. Someone like you wouldn't understand the importance of hiding scars." [...] Aaron would have to figure it out later, but not now. Andrew was trying to pull him off track and [...] he'd never find his way back if he followed it to whatever ugly truth Andrew was hiding. He forced Andrew words aside to haunt him later
this just made me wonder if there's every going to be a moment where aaron figures out what this means. like. my stomach feels sick thinking about it just him having this moment where it clicks and makes sense and he realises what andrew's hiding and will they ever be able to have that conversation?????
"It bother you your pet project is queer?"
AARON
"I'm not always okay with what he is, but these days it's less that he's gay it's that he's [...] weaponized it. It took him so long to come to terms with it that now he lashes out first, pushing as hard as he can to figure out who's safe and who isn't."
nicky baby :(( why does this make me so sad
"I don't care that you're gay, and I don't care that you picked the literal most irritating person on the planet to fall for. I care that you're being a hypocrite."
Aaron Minyard #1 neil josten hater.
Andrew was picking idly at his jeans: an agitated tic that had mostly disappeared once his medicine was out of his system. [...] Maybe he needed a few more moments to come to terms with their easy acceptance. [...] Finding out how important he was to Andrew was an ongoing, eye-opening experience. Finding out just how important Dobson was, that Andrew wouldn't risk her unfavourable opinion by telling her the truth about his sexuality, was equally fascinating. [...] She truly mattered to Andrew when so few people did anymore.
once again andrew :((( my boy :((( why am i crying
"I love Katelyn. I love her more than anything. I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but I am trying so goddamned hard to wait until graduation because you asked me to. So why aren't you doing the same?" "You have abysmal taste in girls," Andrew told him.
KATEAARON YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS TO MEEE
"Neurosurgeon, right?" [...] He and [his mother] had been watching a medical drama with dinner while Andrew hovered silent and distant in the doorway, and Aaron had foolishly said, I want to do that. His mother laughed him out of the room for daring to think he could make anything of himself."
one) andrew talking about aaron to bee two) andrew being the only person who remembered or knew he wanted to be a neurosurgeon three) his mom laughing at him :(( for daring the think he could make anything of himself???? what the fuck and also andrew signing to the team for aaron's sake to get him through college to follow his dreams??? sobbing
"I'm trying, okay? I'm trying. Years too late, I know, but you refused me first. I begged you to come home with me. You can't blame me for not trusting you." "I am capable of multitasking," Andrew said. Aaron heard what he didn't say: I blame us both.
SDHFGAOLFGAJRDHGJDF
"She's just another tiny skirt here to use him up and distract him from what he wants."
ANDREW
"My hands are full with too many idiots," Andrew said. "When she shows her true colors, I will not have the energy to put him together again."
one) liar. i know you'd go to the ends of the earth again and again and again for him. two) TOO MANY IDIOTS
"You can't be brothers while you are each other's jailors."
:D screaming
"Says the man dating a mafioso." "I'm not dating him," Andrew said, with a hint of impatience. Aaron saw right through him, and it was enough to make him smile as he turned his gaze out the window. "Liar."
sobbing. they love each other so much and Andrew is such a liar and i can't deal with them. they kill me

I think Andrew Minyard, eventually, becomes a legend on campus. He was one, already — warnings and whispered rumours, fear and twister wonder. He evolves.
It starts in his third year. There's a giggling girl, slumped down in the curb of the science building, and he's back from the computer lab (Because he's trying to care. To get better grades. To put in the work). He's smoking. There was (is?) a party going on, somewhere on campus. He doesn't care about it for anything else than knowing that Dan, Matt, Nicky and Reynolds are there. It's quite warm, they're just back from summer break, and he's slow when it's too warm. That's how he notices — the idiot who creeps up behind her. She's laughing at nothing, and the guy is clearly strong enough to carry her. He moves her head, positions her to be lifted, while she stammers incoherent denials, humor dying in her throat as horror creeps up. He puts a big, calloused hand over her tights, and she tries to back up. It's useless.
Maybe Andrew wouldn't intervene. Maybe he wouldn't, if the guy didn't look up at him. There's no shame. They make eye contact, and the man winks, pride written all over his face. He nods to Andrew, who nods back.
"We can take turns." He says, grinning under the moonlight, waving his hand at Andrew, inviting him closer. He resembles Drake, in a way. Andrew accepts.
The guy tries to press charges for his broken bones. Neil's uncle wipes out one of his fancy lawyers and the camera footage. Andrew is forgiven and (in a bizarre change of routine) praised by the jury.
Turns out the girl is one of those horrid Vixens. Katelyn thanks him and he pretends to be deaf. The whole team takes to cheering even harder whenever he blocks a goal, in the next games. The one from that night flies and twirls in the air, even going as far as calling out his name and a platitude of generic chants. Someone asks Andrew if she's his girlfriend. He genuinely considers murder.
It dies down. Selena (the annoying Vixen) keeps on her enthusiasm, making Neil tease him about his first die-hard fan and how jealous he is, of his now growing career. Andrew shuts him up with a kiss.
Then, he's with Kevin and Neil. Or, well, him and Neil are trailing behind Kevin, who's jogging to the Library to print a last-minute change on his cover page (forgot that his last name is now legally Wymack, the idiot) because Kevin is still too scared to be completely alone, sometimes.
There's a muffled sound. Then,
"Com'on, pretty girl. You're too cute for that gay shit. I'll make you feel goood."
"Fuck no. Kevin, run."
Neil is fast. Everyone knows that. People tend to forget just how fast he is. He's out of Andrew's side in a blink, then, Kevin's following. Kevin is an egocentric idiot, but he's been getting better, at this whole "caring about others" thing. At least ever since Jean and him had a screaming match over the phone.
Andrew doesn't hurry — Neil can stand his ground. Kevin is not completely useless. The cries he can hear are of strange voices. When he arrives, there's two guys on the floor. Neil has a knife shoved against one of their necks (right next to an artery) and Kevin is putting those hours of weight lifting to work, pinning the body to the floor.
The girl runs to Andrew's side, clinging to his arm. He shoves her, immediately. With fearful eyes, she seems to take a second to recognize him. When she does, she goes to stand behind his back.
As if Andrew can bring safety to someone. To an unknown someone, at that.
She accompanies them to the library, sticking to Kevin's side, hanging onto his arm. To his credit, Kevin only talks about Sexy for half the walk, and it seems to soothe her. When they're there, she offers her printing credits to the idiot.
Neil is seething. He calls his uncle, who sends his fancy hired muscle. If some people get a very strange and unfortunate mugging accident that same week, well, Andrew has a very strong alibi.
It becomes ridiculous, however, in the last days of the semester. Farewell is being celebrated. He asked Neil (because he's trying to care about things) if he wanted to go.
They were, clearly, not going.
They do go out. They take the Maserati and eat in a shitty restaurant, silent in a way that they can only be with each other.
It's when they're coming back when they spot the group. Four girls, heels in hands and wobbly knees. They're in the middle of the road. It's not a very concurred road. Two of them are carrying one, while the other leads the group. In their time together, Andrew has learned that Neil likes women more than men. There's also that deeply ingrained sense of guilt over his mother, that makes him favour them. It's Neil who says,
"Slow down. Make sure you don't run them over."
It's Andrew's mind that provides him with the detail. He recognizes that ponytail.
Carla, it tells him. From Experimental Psychology. She doesn't drink. She cried after the Little Albert chapter. She chastised her seatmate when she tried to touch Andrew's hair.
She doesn't drink. First night out? Could be. A lightweight with no tolerance and no frame of reference. Would that explain why she's on pajamas? Too inexperienced — or uncaring — in what to wear in a night out?
There's silence in the car. He slows down. Neil, who seems to be able to read Andrew in a way that not even Andrew can, asks him if they should give them a ride. Andrew agrees.
Neil is the one who tells them to get in. Carla is the almost-passed-out one. They all hurry inside after a few seconds of whispered shouting between each other. They're almost a mile away from campus, as is. Andrew isn't even quite sure how they ended up here.
He asks them.
"We were on the bus — yes. The bus? For the party." Greens dress says. "It left from the main gate. At, like, ten, I think. What time is it? Who cares. Yeah. No. On the bus."
"And he said- he was... On the bus, with us. He was bragging, y'know? 'Bout getting laid. We didn't care. He's an idiot — all the guys on the football team are."
"Ronnie was not." Pink dress tells Blue dress. "But yeah — he's. And then, at the party — we'r drinkin', yeah? We're the powerpul- powerpuff girls, see? I'm Bubbles. Wait, no, Am not. Blossom, yeah?."
"POINT IS, at the party, we see Carla. You know her? We do. She's in that chess club. They play chess. My roomie's in it. Chess club girls don't drink, I tell you. So, I go. And I ask her why she's here. Poor girl couldn't speak, see? "
"She was on the sofa, right?"
"You're telling it wrong. She was in the bathroom, puking up. Had her phone on the floor, 'member?"
"Ah, yes! And we ask her — we ask her who she's with, and she says, she says that she doesn't remember. And she tells me... Tell me, hey, isn't this a McDonald's? And I laughed, and she said 'no, he said we're going to McDonald's' and I stopped laughing because she puked again."
"No, no. She was on the sofa, and you made her puke, imbecile. You said she was roofied, 'member?"
"Yeah, that's it! I know. They did it to... To Reynolds, yeah? She made us learn the signs 'n all, after."
"We get out of there, and a guy says- says he'll take us to the hospital, you know? We noticed we weren't going to any fucking 'spital and made him leave us where you found us. Should've known to never trust a man, yeah?"
They keep on bickering. Neil and Andrew share a look, before Neil takes out his cellphone to call Renee. The Powerpuff girls and Carla are hauled up to Fox Tower after a quick "chat" with the RA. Andrew refuses to touch them. Dan, Reynolds, Renee and Matt do all the hard work.
One week later, there's a knock on the door and someone calling his name. When he leaves his room and opens, a tray of what smells like freshly baked cookies sits neatly on the floor.
He pretends not to see Carla's face peeking around the hallway.

If Andriel ever got married, this would be the Foxes speeches in my opinion:
Aaron
“When I met Neil I hated his guts. He was arrogant, he had an attitude problem, he lacked any kind of authenticity,”
“Is there a compliment there somewhere, Minyard?”
“Shut it, Josten. I’m trying to say something.”
“Actually, it’s Josten-Minyard now, thank you very much.”
“So, I think you all know what I mean. Self absorbed, egoistic asshole. Unfortunately he makes my brother happy and I think we all know that making Andrew happy is one of the hardest jobs there is. For the longest time I had no idea what all of you saw in that idiot. He waltzed into our lives and immediately settled himself in all of your hearts. I have no idea when and how it happened and I’m a little tipsy and will refuse the implications of saying any of this tomorrow, but somehow that bastard managed to get to me too. Neil, you are an asshole and I’m so thankful to have you as my brother in law. If it wasn’t for you I would probably have zero contact with my brother in the first place and I’m glad that you stumbled into our lives. I wish you both nothing but the best.”
Kevin
“When I first made a deal with Andrew I knew that I would have a hard time keeping my end of it. For those of you who don’t know, I promised Andrew to find him something to live for. Back then I thought it was going to be Exy. I know, I know it's very predictable of me, but come on how can you not love Exy? Okay, okay, don’t boo me Andrew I'm getting to the point, jesus. Tough crowd. As we all know Andrew doesn’t care about Exy to this day. He would be a much better player if he did- Auch! Did you just throw a fork at me? What are you? An Animal? I found you a husband and all I get is hate. Neil was the way I kept my end of the deal. I admit, I wasn’t frilled at first about their relationship. It derailed Neil’s focus from Exy, but at the end of the day it helped two of the most important people in my life be happy, so I’m happy. To Andrew and Neil!”
Renee
“As the maid of honor, I have to fulfill my duty and embarrass the groom a little bit. When Neil first joined the foxes Andrew was gone for him from the start. Don’t make that face, Andrew. You know it’s true. I had to hear over and over again about “that stupid idiot”. When they finally got together I was over the moon. I couldn’t think of two other people who fit together so well, apart from me and my wife, of course. You two had to walk through literal hell to get to this point and I’m so proud of you. I hope that God won’t throw any more hardships your way, but even if they do I know that you will be able to survive them, together.”
Matt
“My best friend got hitched!!! Yes, people. Come on, a sound of applause to the newlyweds! Oh, Neil. The day I found out about you two was a day filled with so much new information yet this was what shocked me the most. At first I was scared for your life and sanity, but you both proved time and time again that you are perfect for each other. Andrew, I’m so sorry for ever doubting you. There is no one out there better for Neil and I’m so glad he has you. Cheers!”
Dan
“Neil, the day you joined the foxes was the day that everything finally clicked into place. You were the last missing piece of the puzzle and I will be forever grateful to you for changing the whole dynamic of the team. You are like a little brother to me and I never wish for any harm to come your way ever again. Andrew, thank you so much for protecting him. For protecting all of us, even if we didn’t always know that that's what you were doing. We had our differences, but I’m so happy that you are a part of my family.”
Allison
“I was kind of mad, when I found out you two weren’t eloping after all. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to be here, but I had a lot of money riding on it and you all know how much I hate losing bets. Neil, what you see in that guy I will never understand, but I can see that he makes you happy. Your face looks like you are holding a banana and it is a little embarrassing. No, don't show me pictures from my wedding, Neil. This is photoshop, I did not look that ridiculous. Anyway, I can see that Andrew is good for you so you two have my blessing. Andrew, you have found a gem, don’t you dare take him for granted.”
Nicky
“Hello everyone, are you having fun? Glad to hear it. I just wanted to point out that if the grooms have organized any of this it would be fucking terrible. Did you seriously bring a knife to your own wedding, Andrew? You can wave that thing at me all day long, I know you are just a bark with no bite. Love made you softer. This is the most important wedding I have ever attended. Sorry, my love. My other cousin had deprived me of my God given right to attend his and,”
“For fucks sake, Nicky. Will you let it go if I let you plan a party for us?”
“Yes! You heard that people. You can expect another awesome party like this coming soon. Neil, you have entered our little family and I knew that you would shake things up from the get go. I had never imagined that we would end up like this, but I’m so glad we did. I love you and I’m so happy that you are now legally binded to us even though there was no need for a piece of paper to prove that we are where you belong. Andrew, I’m so glad that you found someone who makes your whole face light up. All I ever wanted for you was to be happy and I’m so glad you found it with Neil. I love you both so much.”
Wymack
“Why all of you didn’t know that these two knuckleheads were bound to end up together from the beginning I will never understand. It was so fucking obvious and you are all bunch of idiots. That’s it, that’s the speech. To the newlyweds!”

I saw someone doing a post of how they see Andrew’s, Neil’s, Jean’s and Kevin’s body type. NOW ITS MY TURN 😈😈

How I see the Foxe’s body types with random arts (and someone’s thoughts)
To begin with: Andrew! He’s such a fucking sweet tooth and doesn’t give a fuck about working out, but he’s still very strong and quite muscular from practicing and swinging that fucking stick so hard.
Neil ofc acts like a damn dog every time Andrew takes his shirt of, he’s like: “sheesh… I think I’m gay for him” when their like, 10 years together.

Neil!!
He’s a runner, so he can’t be too built. But… once in a while his midnight trainings with Kevin are in the gym, so he’s quite muscular. And I think his shoulders are circular (because I can)
Every time Neil gets naked to shower, Andrew stares at him like he’s a living sculpture. But his stare doesn’t have second intentions, he’s just admiring how his junkie is beautiful while he mutters an “I hate you”

Kevin!!
Everyone one knows this diva is the living form of healthy lifestyle and taking care of his visual form. He goes to the gym every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays when the Sun’s up. His tall frame makes him still slim (?) but very built and muscular, his arms are well marked and the buds are really visible.
He’s the self steam in person, so he likes to wear tight shirts to workout.

Nicky!!
HES A FUCKING TWINK!!
Ofc he has a slutty waist and flat abdomen. He’a muscular? A bit, because he has a hight metabolism and doesn’t work out as much.
Every time he sends Eric a picture of himself in front of the mirror, he knows how to mess with his boyfriend’s head. He always text back something like: “I’m buying flying tickets rn.”

Aaron!!
Aaron (doesn’t five a fuck about my appearance) Minyard. He’s too focused to finish college and the infinite exams to care about futile things like this, but he doesn’t get too carried away cause he knows about the consequences.
He has a slight tummy showing around and horrible posture. His arms are quite built because of the exy, but this is the only activity he does. (Kateryn thinks he’s the most hot man in the world)

Matt!!
He’s a jock.
You know that gym rats that the only thing in their instagram profile is their workouts and diet? That’s Matt. He wakes early in the morning to workout in the gym, he doesn’t miss a single day in the week.
Dan be like: “he’s my baby girl” but then you saw the giant muscular guy behind her

Allison!!
She’s our fashion icon diva, so ofc she thinks all body types are beautiful and deserves praise. She has large hips, quite small waist, big thighs, “fatty” arms and a tummy she always makes sure to show around. (Visible hip dips.)
Seth always made sure to say how Allison was hot and the prettiest girl ever, how he loved her body and how confident she’s with it. Allison knows all of that, but it’s nice to hear it from somebody else

Renee!!
On the other hand, Renee’s features aren’t as marked as Allison’s. She’s really strong but her arms doesn’t show it much, circular shoulder (once again, bc I can) and a thin waist. She doesn’t have large hips or big thighs, only a long neck that give harmony to her appearance even more.
(SHE’S SO BEAUTIFULLLLLL)

Dan!!
Last of all, our dear (and mommy material) captain! She’s a jock as well, really muscular and strong, thing waist and large hips from the workout. Dan is training since the pole dancing, because it demands strength from the arms specially.
While she calls Matt a “baby girl”, Matt practically drool over her. He always questions himself of how he managed to get with such a goddess.

In honor of April Fools day I will talk a bit about an AU with my favorite fool - (Redacted) Smith that I will probably never write fully but have thought about a bunch of scenes for.
I call it 2 Fluent Freshmen.
Due to a clerical error at both the school and during the local government's push to digitize their documents Smith is noted down as being 2 years older than he actually is and (perhaps a clerical error or maybe no teacher can say if they've had him in class or not) Smith also has enough credits to graduate. Gran has passed away early and there's nothing for him in Washington other than more anxiety.
Wymack & Dan come to Smith when he is 16 and Smith takes the chance to escape from his family IMMEDIATELY. Sure the Foxes are the worst team and sure there's some drama going on with Kevin Day having joined them after his injury but a full ride scholarship is a full ride scholarship!
Smith is rooming with 2 upperclassmen and his only other fellow freshman - Neil Josten. He is not hiding the fact that he can speak Russian, he is hiding the fact that he is 16. Smith ends up pretty close to Seth and Allison due to sharing a dorm / position respectively and just doing his best not to get to close to crazy Andrew Minyard. He does get a bit close with Neil but it's not something he's trying to do.
He's trying to keep his head down and get through the year.
It's a little hard when he is sat on the couch with the Kathy Ferdinand show. It's a lot harder when Riko Moriyama shows up and doesn't realize he's there and just...sits in Smith's lap?? Smith remains as blank faced as ever and what the fuck is Riko supposed to do? ADMIT HE FUCKED UP?
Do you know how hard it is to intimidate someone when you're sitting in the lap of some dude? The answer is VERY. Kevin can't take him seriously at all, especially after Smith made a comment that Riko's ass was bony.
Riko goes after them the same but Smith doesn't really get that his anger is at Kevin. "Hey, I'm sorry I called your butt bony on national television. That was rude of me. You should try some squats though." and like what the fuck is Riko supposed to say in the face of some dude genuinely apologizing to him.
It buys enough time that no one is grabbed or slammed.
Seth and Allison drag him out to the bar that night and after a few minutes sitting with Allison Smith realizes that he actually does have to pee and oh god someone's trying to assault Seth! Smith calls upon the powers of Gracie Hart and Seth has a black eye and a concussion but he graduates.
Neil wants Smith to come with him to the Thanksgiving because Neil has latched on a bit. Smith ends up going and also ends up going upstairs to go to the bathroom because oh god he cannot handle Nicky's parents hearing him take an anxiety shit. He's making his way to the end of the hall and sees a penny on the ground so he bends over to grab it.
And Drake Spears is unbalanced from missing his swing and falls right out the open window to the ground below where he breaks his neck. Naturally, Andrew is watching this scene unfold from the stairs and just starts to laugh his ass off. Smith turns around after flipping the penny over (it was tails side up and therefore not lucky) unaware of what has happened.
Smith asks if Andrew wants to use the bathroom. Andrew insists that Smith goes on ahead. The Hemmicks keep asking if they saw anyone upstairs and Smith has no idea what they're talking about, Andrew does but plays dumb out of spite. A day later it's wild that Nicky's parents got arrested. Like they seemed so normal, how did they kill someone and dump him in the side garden??
The Winter Banquet happens and well...it's dark. It's dark and Neil has brown hair and brown eyes and Smith has brown hair and brown eyes. Riko is not the best at judging heights so he calls Smith to threaten him and tell him that he's joining the Ravens for a Winter Break training camp. Jean is doing the most anyone has ever done not to laugh right now.
Riko only realizes his mistake when he's finished threatening Smith with his father and Smith ruins it. Smith is elated to have somewhere to stay over winter break. He can't mention he has nowhere to go so he'd thought he'd spend the break homeless. Now here comes Riko Moriyama inviting him to a camp where room and board will be provided?
What a nice guy. To thank him Smith compliments the gains he's noticed on Riko's ass. "The squats are really helping you, or are you doing something else?" he asks.
What the fuck is Riko supposed to do? ADMIT THAT HE FUCKED UP? Tell Smith that he's been doing squats and leg lifts before asking that he hand the tickets back and go get Neil???
Fuck that.
He'll just turn Smith against the Foxes and-
Well Riko kept talking about Smith's dead dad and so Smith may have a slight misunderstanding about the full scope of this training camp. He may think that there is some sort of seance element to it at this point and he's kind of excited at the idea of talking to his dad. "I've never spoken to a dead man before, this will be fun." and it's delivered flatly with no expression.
Riko starts to wonder if maybe Smith is the Butcher's son? Did the Butcher have two sons? He's sweating all the sudden.
It does not help that Smith brings a Ouija board to camp or that his dad was a legit Butcher before he died so Riko's tentative questioning only sends him further into an anxious mess about if Nathan had twins and Riko, due to being kept away from the family business, might just not be aware of it?
Smith has a nice Christmas break.
The last scene I've got dinging around in the noggin is in Binghamton. Smith has been left behind at many a stadium at this point. There's a solid and fast rule.
Neil cannot get on the bus without Smith. They are buddies. This is the buddy system. So when the riot starts and Neil seems to be getting pulled away in the crowd?
Well Smith grabs his hand and pulls him towards the bus, "Buddy system."
The bus starts and they're on their way shortly after. Neil's an anxious wreck but that next morning he wakes up to the news that the Butcher of Baltimore died in an FBI raid the night before as well as his men.
Smith watches the news with Neil, "Wow, that's scary." as he sips some orange juice.

hi, i just wanted to say how much i love your next gen socmed au!
could you give us more information on amalia day and how her relationships are(with her parents, stepfathers, significant others)
yes!! i love her sm
Amalia & Kevin
Despite the stern, impolite, and brash Kevin that we see in aftg, the Kevin that raises Amalia is almost a complete opposite
Kevin and Thea have split custody of Amalia, but Kevin has her a lot more often. She grows up in Kevin’s shadow, but he is very protective of her when it comes to his fame because he decided before she was even born that he did not want the same kind of childhood for her.
Amalia has Kevin’s determined and focused expression, the one that often mimics Wymack’s on the sidelines.
She also has Kevin’s resting bitch face, which Andrew is the one to point it out to Kevin, it leaves him speecsshless.
Amalia is a daddy’s girl and it’s always “daddy do it!” when him and Thea were still together.
Kevin carried her until shded literally got too big to carry, she’s his little girl and he surely treats her like the little princess she is.
Stern with her when need be because someone has to.
Ultimate sports dad. Goes to every single game of hers and cheers her on like all the other dads. Wymack, Jean and Jeremy relegate him to being a normal person about her playing exy instead of being kevin days daughter. Jeremy bc he’s seen the damage it can do, Jean bc he never got a choice in his future and needs to ensure she does, and Wymack bc he’s his voice of reason.
Kevin is the one who she goes to to complain and hear what she wants to hear, because Kevin is smart with his words when it comes to her.
Kevin is the one who teaches her to drive- the only one she lets because Jeremy is not a good driver and Jean doesn’t have the patience.
He takes her to shop for prom dresses with Abby and Amalia’s school friend. He gets teary eyed once she disappears back inside to take off the winner. She looks so much like his mother it hurts.
When Amalia is truly heartbroken over her relationship with Thea (because she sees how Katelyn Minyard is with the twins, how her friends are with their moms) then she cuddles with Kevin, something she hasn’t done to this extent in a few years, and falls asleep in his bed.
Amalia has Kevin’s stubbornness and hard headedness, his determination and confidence.
Amalia & Jeremy
Jeremy is the one that Amalia goes to when she wants something because more often than not he will say yes (within reason of course)
Jeremy is also the one that Amalia goes to when she fucks up and is scared of the consequences because Jeremy is the most patient of the three and operates by calmly talking things out and discussing what will probably happen while also making it clear that she has to tell the others or he will.
He is the one that she curls into and cries to when Thea doesn’t text her until 7pm for her 17th birthday, and who she confides in when someone in 8th grade questions her about her 3 dads and she doesn’t know what to say.
Jeremy and her go to the movies often and it’s their thing. They love Marvel movies and House of the Dragon (shut up ab timelines) and spend like 20 minutes after movies and weekly episodes debating and theorizing what this meant or what will happen next or what movie could come next.
Amalia and Jeremy share the same humor that he, Cat and Laila always had. They’re both silly and lighthearted and laugh with their whole bodies, a mimicked thing from over the years.
Amalia has Jeremy’s gentle heartedness and easy joy.
Amalia & Jean
^But Jean’s honesty and ability to verbally rip someone to shreds.
Jean is the most conscious of not stepping on Kevin and Thea’s toes when he and Jeremy get reintroduced into Kevin and Amalia’s lives, so he and Amalia take longer to bond. He and Kevin have too much history for him not to care about her, he’d take her in without question for her safety after the world they’d grown up in. But he knows there are limits when there is an existing family involved in the relationship he, Jeremy, and Kevin endeavor on.
Jean speaks to Amalia solely in French until she’s like 7 because Kevin and Thea were raising her bilingual and it was hard for Kevin to teach both when he had custody of her most of the time. Even after, French becomes their main mode of communication.
Jean teaches her to cook the same way that Cat once taught him. Coming becomes their thing.
Jean buys her pads and tampons when she gets her first period a month after Thea gets transferred three states over. It’s mortifying for her but Jean has zero shame and shows her how to use a tampon against her will.
Jean is the one Amalia goes to to complain and get a brutally honest answer or advice or whatnot. She goes to him when she’s pissed off and wants to scream because he’s surprisingly good at settling her with just facts and not feelings.
Amalia & Thea
Thea was heavily focused on her Exy career even after she had Amalia, but always made the time for her.
She and Amalia always had a special bond, but by the time Amalia is 9 that has greatly lessened. I don’t want to paint Thea as a bad guy bc it’s rlly not ab her as much as me simply wanting kerejean lol.
Amalia gets Thea’s skin tone, lighter but still not white. She teaches Amalia about her indian heritage and teaches her to love herself because she knows it’s not easy being a woman of color even if Amalia passes as a tan white girl with bright green eyes. Amalia learns to stick up for herself and correct people when they mis-label her as white.
She gets Thea and Kevin’s athleticism and height and ends up being 5’11.
Thea gets transferred to another team when Amalia is 12, and Kevin and Thea don’t go to court for custody because Thea knows Amalia needs to stay where she is with her family and friends and support systems. Thea is very supportive of Jeremy and Jean being in Amalia’s life bc she knows how important they are to her and wouldn’t rip her from that.
But her calls become less frequent over the years and although she visits when she can, Amalia doesn’t feel like she knows her as much as she should. Junior year of high school when Thea is a sports announcer or smth after retiring, she’s only able to get one weekend off not two in a row, and instead of using it for Amalia’s prom she uses it for her Exy tournament the weekend after. This crushes Amalia.
Amalia gets very jealous of other mother daughter bonds and Abby fills in as a mother figure while Thea is gone. Kevin, Jeremy, and Jean pick up on this easily and fill in where they can.
Amalia loves her mother, but she hates that she left. She hates that she didn’t visit, that her calls had spaced so far apart, that she wasn’t there 24/7 like she was supposed to be. She had 3 fathers that she loved, but nothing would compare to the way she remembered her mother brushing or braiding her hair and telling her stories when she was little.
Significant other?
I don’t have anyone planned out for her rn bc in the AU she’s freshly 17, but I think she befriends a kid from her high school exy team, a boy striker a year below her. He lives with his aunt and uncle because his mother died and his father is in prison, and Amalia often times finds him in the gym practicing alone because it’s so quiet at home, and his aunt and uncle are lovely but it’s just jarring to get used to, not having parents.
Amalia is a dealer, so she invites him to practice with her on the weekend when “my dads are free. we have scrimmages sometimes.”
And he agrees but hesitantly. He knows who Amalia’s parents are, and he knows he’s no match for them. But she’s delighted when he’s actually waiting there when she walks into the gym that weekend with Kevin and Jeremy in tow. Bc he’s dorky and kinda quiet which rivals her family, so she wasn’t expecting him to actually show.
The kid does pretty well, but unsurprisingly gets lots of criticism from Kevin. He doesn't waste time with the switch from how he played to how Kevin is telling him to play instead. He’s the pro after all.
Then it becomes a habit, practicing with Amalia with or without her family, and eventually he impresses their coach enough to let him start a game.
Then they start hanging out more often.
He gets more playing time, which Amalia likes, because he's a reliable player and quick to call for help. Morgan’s other seniors don't do that and it infuriates her because then it's her fault for not dropping her mark and helping out.
And then he starts getting invited over for lunch after going to the court on the weekends. He gets along with Jeremy and finally meets Jean who grips his hand hard when he shakes it and says something to Amalia in french just to make him sweat bc this is the kid that's been making her smile at her phone so often?
Kevin doesn’t know when things go from friendly to more than that, but jean is the first to notice. He brings it up to Kevin and Jeremy first bc did they even establish rules on dating?! But then Jeremy sees Amalia run out to the lawn and jump into his arms and nearly take him down on the ring camera and- did she just kiss him?! Before getting into his car?! Did no one else see that?!
“You’re freaking out”
“Yeah, within reason though, right? She’s dating!”
“Kev, not to alarm you, but there's also a good chance she's kissed a boy by now, too. She’s seventeen.”
