My analysis of Bleakwatch Chronicles chapters 1-6.
Tumblr media
I think I'm maybe ¼ into the book or so? I spent around 50min getting to that point.
As usual, my immediate reactions to any cases where I do semi-live text analyses, tend to be fairly surprised and not all that positive, worth noting.
With that in mind, these are the 7-ish I've got so far (1 or 2 of which could be considered spoilers):
From how the first 4 chapters-ish, it doesn't seem that the writer has read even one single previous Disney Fairies book. He seems to have watched the movies once or twice each, considering all the various references to the movies in the book.
Various characters' thoughts indicate the book takes place very soon after the movies, plausibly even before the NeverBeast movie. Yet one of the Flutterpunks are frustrated about recycling programmes by humans in London. I don't think London in 1920 focused on recycling cardboard and such.
Quin seems to be racist against Never Fairies. Some of it seems to be an attempt to throw off the other Flutterpunks, but some of Quin's racism seems genuine.
If Never Fairies simply give each other all the things they need, does that mean they would've given me an OLED TV if I asked the other Never Fairies than (hypothetically) me nicely?
I refuse to believe that "crenellation" is a real word.
Turns out Elmira wasn't mute, she just had a severe neck injury after a crashlanding on the shore.
No colour illustrations in the story. :( :( :(

From those I've watched in-person (The 5 uppermost), all of those 10 schools have strange-acting teachers, boring school clothes, constant drama between students, chaotic roommate systems, and high-risk missions with the planet(s) at stake.
So for me it'd be a 55:45 call between EAH and Rainbow High, and then I'd drop out 3 weeks later just to become able to head down to the nearby town to go to Subway (the restaurant chain) in a tuxedo and Bermuda shorts.

I had these weird recurring dreams I had in middle school that I mostly forgot but kept using as fuel for melodramatic daydreams where I was a secret agent slowly dying by poisoning or just me, a kid, dying slowly of brain cancer and it took me like most of a year to figure out that the reason all those angsty middle schooler daydream scenarios I was playing out in my head in the car or in bed at night had a strange edge of deja vu to them because they'd started out as barely remembered dreams. I think it clicked when I was sitting in an airport waiting to board a redeye flight to visit family. there's a certain feeling about sitting in an airport when it's dark out and you're tired. everything is a little bit off. it's a liminal space by definition but as a kid it has a strange melancholy to it that somehow I felt like I'd felt before, and it scared me. it wouldn't get out of my head. I didn't know it them but I was about to spend that entire trip, nearly two weeks, locked in that strange melancholy deja vu darkness. and the thing is that a part of me enjoyed it. was compelled by it. I was scared but it wasn't in a bad way. I called it bad dreams because I didn't have any other words to explain why it made me nervously excited to daydream my own death. it was a feeling of mystery, almost, and bittersweet. but the sweet in that word comes at the end. it was melancholy and I felt like I'd been there before and would die in that feeling. but I always wanted to know more about it. always wondered about the strange recurring dreams and imaginary worlds they sparked. there was always something fascinating about those to me. it always struck something in my emotions that nothing else really can.
and that's what listening to Circa Survive feels like to me

The planet of the bass guy's screamo parody is spot on musically but I do have a bone to pick with his character. He calls himself a communist. Granted I was born in '97 so perhaps I was just less involved in political spaces during peak emo but from my personal experience there really wasn't a strong socialist movement in the '00s normie emo sphere. Maybe there was in the more hardcore early emo subculture in the 90s but your average mainstream hot topic goer really wasn't engaged. I think Kyle is fusing screamo with Green Day pop punk and some more political Nu Metal attitudes.
There was nowhere near the amount of political awareness in the scene compared to its 2010s counterparts, if emo kids wanted to be socially rebellious they were more likely to declare themselves atheist or maybe Satanist and occasionally generic "anarchist" aka just wearing a pin with the anarchy symbol. Sharing a pic of two deathly pale white boys almost kissing was about the extent of teens voicing pro-LGBT sentiment in 2007. I don't think half of them even knew what a lesbian was, bisexual and pan was the most extreme label you could give yourself. Remember a significant contribution to emo and what would become scene came out of the Midwest and not hotspots for radical movements you see on the coasts, I think a lot of us were milquetoast liberals and wholeheartedly believed Obama could fix the United States (remember most of this era was also pre-2008 recession).
It wasn't uncommon for emo or scene kids to also listen to some more political stuff like American Idiot or SOAD and RATM but I'd argue most kids were engaging more with the aesthetics than any political message deeper than "bush sucks". I would argue that most Rawr XD teens were actually listening to considerably more christian bands on their ipods than bands who explicitly aligned themselves with communism.
2000s Emo and Scene was incredibly introspective, the focus was on the self and immediate relationships moreso than systemic injustices and certainly not in depth material analysis. If anything it was very individualist, lamenting that you felt othered and distant from the rest of society or something was fundamentally different about you. It wasn't at all uncommon to run into people who were deeply conceited and misanthropic in a way you'd associate with the 2010s Enlightened Atheist movement. Throw in maybe some complaining that you live in a shit town and perhaps a very vague anti-war stance and occasional concern for the Anonymous Global South or animal rights and that was about as radical as the average american emo kid got.
Anyway that's my nitpick, +100 points tho for namedropping kingdom hearts which more than makes up for this minor inaccuracy.

This is probably a question you get often, but is there like a textual middle point between ‘here are some pagan rituals’ and ‘an ancient fragmented tome that has been encrypted twice?’
Every time I’ve tried to delve into occultism it feels completely unintelligible and nothing sticks to my brain. I just feel very discouraged (which is probably the point)
Is there background knowledge I’m missing? Is there a better entry point? Should I just make myself read the incomprehensible stuff? I’m just lost.
That is an excellent question, and one that I was deeply curious about myself when I first got into the occult.
I have good news and bad news. The good news is that yes! There is a middle ground between entry level resources and things like hardcore analysis of primary texts and historical materials. The bad news is that it's philosophy. Like, normal philosophy. Like you have to read Plato.
You can speedrun this process by finding a community to join. Maybe look for people performing gnostic masses in your area. Make friends with other practicioners! Try not to get recruited into a pyramid scheme though.

It just baffles me honestly..
KCD2 is a longass game and it doesn't even have an easy mode, just standard and hardcore, so it's not like you just make it a more chill, story oriented experience like you can in Baldur's Gate for example..
And yet I loved the game so much that I bought and played through the prequel before starting a new save
Which I think that's also kind of a thing?
And after all that, after all the tumblr browsing, seeing the romance scene a billion times, as well as the occasional other scene, after reading all these analysis posts on Hans & Henry's relationship etc etc, I'm almost 2 months into being a part of the fandom and...
What I'm getting at [TLDR] all this and I'm still so fucking excited to see Hans again, almost like it's my first playthrough and I just miss the lil shit.
The divorce era lasts for as long as you decide you're mad at Hans
On this second playthrough, aka after having played KCD1, unlike my first playthrough, I was genuinely displeased with the stuff Hans said and it gave me a bit more initiative to just think "fuck it" and focus on questing and exploring instead of hurrying to the wedding
But now I miss him...even though I got to find him in the woods this time, I miss him...
So fuck any other questing.
I wanna see my man

Quick summary of Apple Arcade games I've played thus far
All games were played on the Apple TV 4K 128GB model, most with Dualsense, while games that support Siri Remote used the remote instead.
Sonic Dream Team: The maingame (except the contrived red-coin system) is a masterpiece, and the first Sonic platformer I've ever completed. The postgame(s) got weary on me, however.
Easy Come Easy Golf: Plays pretty good for a non-motion-controlled golf game. Could need to have far more courses far earlier in the game, as meaningful variation is practically none even at rank 8.
Way of the Turtle: Very good from the 25〜90% marks of the game, where it's a better Crash Bandicoot game than a lot of actual Crash Bandicoot games. But the endgame levels are brutal to the point of feeling like they weren't worth it.
Alto's Adventure: Honestly a fairly good game. I recommend it to people who've just bought an Apple TV and who are learning how the remote control works.
Amazing Bomberman: Complete rubbish. I could count the framerate on one hand, and that's on the newest Apple TV model.
Gear.Club Stradale: Kept crashing to desktop all the time. And I mean all the time. I was only able to complete 1 race on 5 attempts at starting the game.
Rayman Mini: Severely outdated. No one wants autorunners anymore, and certainly not autorunners that mangle the Rayman Legends timed missions.
Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat: Safe to assume that Apple told the devs to make the game less weeb than most other TnT games, which is a good thing. The Power of Love is a nice touch, and the evergreen Cruel Angel's Thesis, the Touhou Song (Night of Knights), and Funiculi Funicula (a.k.a. the Spider-Man 2 pizza song).
Tetris Beat: Weeb stuff. Gave up after 10min because I hadn't heard of any of the songs.
Samba de Amigo Party-to-Go: On the entirely opposite end of the scale, and in fact has too many dance-pop songs. I do give positive shoutout to that its version of Macarena use the actual lyrics, and not the ones with the teenage girls chatting.
Riptide GP Renegade: Practically unplayable with Siri Remote, so I never tested it with Dualsense out of spite. Never got past the tutorial.
Pocket Card Jockey: Tested to see how far I could bruteforce my way through the intro with a Siri Remote, far past the alleged "Connect a controller" prompts. I miraculously managed to get to the first main level, at which point I felt that I had done my duty and never played it afterwards.
Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins: Managed to be less controllable than Pocket Card Jockey even with a Dualsense. Couldn't get past the very first section.
My Little Pony Mane Merge: The "Merge" genre is by itself the worst new game genre in several decades, but Gameloft clearly can't possibly have played even one puzzle console game in their lives, judging by how they mangled the controls beyond recognition.
Kimono Cats: Hardly has any activities in it that count as a game, and the few small remnances that are there are either weeb or Daily Challenges.
Disney SpellStruck: A good concept and is fun to play early on, but dear lords does it get repetitive. Not to mention the word validation system rejecting a lot of common words while accepting nonsense. The cameo of Tinker Bell's house from her titular movies is a nice touch, but a very short touch.
Warped Kart Racers: "We already have Sonic Racing Transformed at home" vibes. Additionally, the battle mode system is the worst in the history of car games. Yes, worse than that of FlatOut 3.
Squiggle Drop: Incomprehensible career progression, not helped by puzzles that start to make no sense after the circa 25th one.
JellyCar Worlds: If you've played 10 levels or so, you've essentially played them all.
Marble It Up Mayhem: Roughly half of the point-to-point levels were reasonably good. The "Collect spheres in a zone" levels were pretty boring.
Beyond Blue: I refuse to believe that any professional livestreamer scuba diver would willingly want to use a suit she described as itchy.
Ballistic Baseball: Seemingly impossible to hit the ball, and the English commentator has the least enthusiastic voice I've ever heard in my life.

I admit this is a pretty long one for me to reply to. 😅 While TB1 is a reasonably good movie, I admit that the subplot about Vidia didn't work at all. Nothing would've stopped Tink from trying to say "But Vidia told me to…"
Rules are indeed critical, or else bookwriters would go all "What if Tink had a gun?", and Never Land Pirates sure ignored every single rule in existence and caused total mayhem with all of Never Land, including with the show itself.
Some franchises have attempted to coordinate book+show+movie, most remarkably Transformers' Book of Revelation, but the franchises' coordinations never stood consistent for long.

*breaks down ur door* ramon n phil hcs perhaps?
YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Phil headcanons masterlist
If Ramon knew where Phil was from, he'd desperately want to see the Hardcore World builds (not that Phil canonically built them), and all of Phil's farms (now those he DID build).
If Phil knew Create it'd be fucking OVER for the Federation, with his and Ramon's powers combined and the additional insanity that Tubbo and Pierre can bring? SHEESH.
Of the OG eggs that aren't his own, Ramon is Phil's favorite, but he'll never say that.
Hot take but (before Fitpac was anywhere near close to being a thing), Phil was the one standing in Spreen's place. At least early on, with how often he & Chayanne would join Ramon & Fit on adventures.
Ramon's death on that airship was the first moment it REALLY struck Phil that the eggs can die. Like that's a reality, not just a scary unlikelihood or something. It can and will happen in the blink of an eye.
Phil absolutely adores the way Ramon became such a fierce protector of the other eggs, especially his sisters. It's always touched him how adamantly Ramon fights to give his siblings the most normal childhood they can. He just wishes the lil guy would acknowledge he deserves that too.
Actually on that note I could write a whole ass analysis of how Phil and Ramon can sometimes think/operate similarly, but I'd have to binge a bunch of Ramon moments to get enough material. But like. Do you see my vision? With the way they're both self-sacrificial to sometimes detrimental degrees?
Present day, one of the memories that gives Phil the most bittersweet nostalgia for the "good days" on the Island are the ones where he & Chayanne and Fit & Ramon would be wandering the savannas just exploring and looting random shit. It was nerve-wracking, yeah. Every adventure with the eggs was, this is Mr. Hardcore we're talking about here. But there's something so special about the banter with Fit while they watched Chayanne & Ramon demolish whatever mobs they encountered.
Speaking of demolishing mobs, there is something so inexplicably and unreasonably funny to Phil about watching Ramon (or Dapper or Pomme for that matter) absolutely STACKED in a suit of armor or carrying some massive fuckoff weapon when he is just the littlest guy 🤏🏻🤏🏻 Like the absurdity of this funky lil orb creature with obnoxiously chunky armor and the world's bulkiest weapon is just Comedy Gold to Phil.
Although Phil only ever knew surface level stuff (if that), if he ever heard the extent of how ride or die Ramon was with Fit & his secrets about Whatever (data collection, Madagio, etc), it'd give Phil a whole new level of admiration for him.
Bird brain mimicry sometimes made Phil say "Ramon" with a (badly, Britishly) rolled R the way Fit always would.
He wishes the eggs were around for the whole Maze thing because he guarantees Ramon would've found some kinda way to either Create his way to a solution or brute forced it. That kid would've 100% cracked the code to that stupid fucking Maze.
Phil always loved the way Ramon was so observant. That kid would notice details of things or traits of certain people that nobody else would. Not only did it give him a special layer of thoughtfulness to put into the things he did for & gave to other people, but it's a valuable skill to have as a survivalist.
I can't believe I only just now thought if this one but Phil absolutely fucking TREASURES the way Ramon softened Fit up. He's always known Fit as this rugged, mysterious wild card with a dangerous streak, which– Don't get Phil wrong, he was & is down bad for it. But to see something finally put some long-term genuine warmth in those eyes and a smile lacking malice on that face? And for that something to be a brilliant, silly little kid that radiates the same kind of energy as Fit himself? Priceless.
If there was any egg Phil would consider capable of fending for themselves, it'd be Ramon. Ideally, no egg would ever have to. At least not forever. But if he had to name one he thinks could survive alone? Yeah, Ramon. And not just because he's the son of a 2B2T veteran.

I’ve already done music recommendations so, you can check out these posts (playlists and list of artists) if you’re looking for that specifically. But Wilbur made a lot of content over the years and idk, i figured I’d make a a list of recommendations for similar content to fill that void as well :)
Minecraft SMP’s (specifically DSMP)
The same SMP’s but other POV’s — I’ll just start with this cos it’s the most iffy. There’s plenty of enjoyment to be had with these fandoms still, and I personally don’t think we need to let the actions of a couple shitty guys ruin the silly Minecraft roleplay we all enjoy. That said, if you aren’t comfy watching these anymore that’s perfectly valid as well, especially since Wilbur’s character will be lurking around in the background of plenty of these. But yeah, we can also uplift other creators by watching the fun stories they made, especially those who got buried by bigger creators at the time. So Dream SMP, QSMP, Origins SMP, SMP earth, SMPlive all have content you can enjoy.
Different, completely unrelated SMP’s — hermitcraft, the life series, empires SMP (shubble was involved in this one, I’m planning on watching her POV when I find some time) etc. I’ve had plenty of people recommend these to me before, from what I’ve seen they’re very enjoyable :)
Hamilton — not even joking, if you enjoyed the L’manberg era of DSMP and you didn’t watch Hamilton, I’d heartily recommend it. Great music, lots of politics but all in a fun and silly way, also tragic endings!
Editor Wilbur ARG (I’m a massive ARG fan so I have tonnes of recommendations here)
Generation Loss — Ranboo’s very awesome Horror project that they’ve been working very hard on!!! Ranboo’s been teasing new content lately as well so that’s exciting
Analog horror series — Local 58, Gemini Home Entertainment, Mandela Catalog, Kane Pixel’s Backrooms videos, etc. All very good and spooky videos, definetely an inspiration for Gen Loss, and I know Wilbur enjoyed this content as well (though the editor Wilbur arg predates a lot of this genre) those are some of the biggest on YouTube atm, and some of my personal favourites, but there’s plenty more to find (I recommend channels like Nightmind and Nexpo who do analysis videos for all this horror and ARG stuff if you wanna find more)
Marble Hornets — gets its own category! One of the original analog horror genres (predated the genre actually) it’s basically one of the biggest and most comprehensive Slenderman series out there. There’s a LOT of content here and lots of lore and mystery (though a lot of the game clues have been lost to time) (Jack Manifold also reacted to this on stream, it was very chill and good fun)
Horror podcasts — Magnus Archives and Magnus Protocol, Malevolent and Archive 81 are some of my favourites, but there’s plenty more out there to find and enjoy :). Also very spooky with lots of mystery to involved, the Magnus Protocol is very new as well so great time to get into that!
Just Chatting / Geoguessr / other chill content
Geoguessr streamers / YouTubers — honestly I genuinely didn’t watch much geoguessr content outside of Wilbur’s streams so, I don’t have many recommendations here. I know Eret has been doing geoguessr streams lately and their content is very good and chill. Jacksuckatlife plays as well and last I watched he was fairly good at it (like similar skill level to Wilbur), otherwise Rainbolt is a geoguessr legend, he terrifies me a little ngl.
Other streamers — I think the thing with the just chatting streams is that we watch for *that specific streamer’s* personality. It’s hard to really make recommendations other than just saying go watch more of the streamers you enjoy. Personally I enjoy Phil’s hardcore streams, and Sneegsnag’s Crime Time the most, but there’s plenty of other people both in this MCYT space and outside of it that you’ll probably enjoy :)
Sorry boys (unlike horror I don’t watch much comedy so, sorry, this’ll be lacking)
Just Roll With It — Charlie Slimecicle’s DND podcast. I’ve only listened to a little bit of this but it’s really good and REALLY silly (oh, and emotional sometimes, gotta have a bit of angst y’know) Wilbur was a guest on a couple of episodes, but you can always skip past those if you want.
Tommy’s videos — so Wilbur features in a lot of the early vlogs and *minecraft but* videos, but Tommy’s content has always been good fun, his recent stuff is excellent as well! He’s been doing a lot of comedy content lately, specifically a live show so definitely check that out if you want :)
Smosh pit — not something I’ve watched a lot of, but I’ve seen clips of their try not to laugh videos and they’re definitely on par with the bat shit improv you get from Sorry Boys.
Game changer — again, not something I’ve watched much, mostly consumed through osmosis, but the show is funny, the cast is always silly and it’s a lot of fun all round
Whatever else Sorry Boys make after this — judging by some of the responses to Wilbur’s “statement” I think it’s fair to assume if Sorry Boys do continue making content Wilbur will be cut from the group. Of course don’t feel obligated to stick around if you don’t want to, but Wilbur won’t be compensated if he’s kicked and the rest of the guys are still fun :)
YLYL and similar goofy stuff
Just… other streamers again — Jack Manifold does YLYL streams with his friends. James Marriott does a lot of reaction videos as well, sometimes YLYL, sometimes reacting to content his viewers send in (like TikTok’s and break up texts), those are my favourites atm.
YouTubers — that niche between video essay and reaction content, people like Danny Gonzales, Drew Gooden, Kurtis Conner, Pinely, all good fun YouTube channels that make good, silly, and easy to consume content.
Other gaming streamers and YouTubers — Slimecicle, Ranboo, Games Grumps, RT games, and SneegSnag all play a wide variety of games, they’re all relatively chill but none of them take the games all that seriously either so it’s fun and goofy as well :)
And of course Fanfiction!!!
I might be a little bias here cos I write myself but fic is created by and for fans and it exists to give you even *more* content about the stories you love, whether it be reimagining canon events or just dumping your favourite characters into a silly au.
I know a lot of authors (myself included) are feeling super conflicted and weird about writing Wilbur in the future. Plenty of authors have been moving onto new fandoms so if you find something you enjoy make sure you check out the author’s other work and who knows, maybe you’ll find some cool new fandoms that way!
And do the same for artists and other creators, or even go check out some of your mutuals fandoms, you guys might have more in common than you originally thought!

A Word With Jikookers
“The masses have never thirsted after truth. They turn aside evidence that is not to their taste, preferring to deify error, if error seduces them. Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim.” Gustav Le Bon, The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind
You might have known that most of my posts go under categories like analysis and reviews, and I usually don't address hates and haters in this blog except a few times that I had to respond to some anonymous asks, which is now turned off.
I'm aware that no Jikooker likes to be policed by other Jikookers, I hate that too. I hate woke Jikookers so much, and this is not about policing you guys or telling you what to post about. But, as someone who reads tweets on army Twitter on a daily basis and follows almost every drama between shippers, I'm aware that antis sound so bold and brave recently for no specific reason, and this is expectantly triggering most Jikookers to fight back.
Haters get hit tweets by "comparing" moments, shading members, bringing back their old and frequently debunked theories, and fabricating the dumbest stuff to give themselves some sense of winning against the loud and clear truth of Jikook. If there was any competition, they had lost it many times since 2017, but this breed is not going to admit their defeat, and you can never convince them no matter how strong your logic and evidence are.
I did that a few times, yes. I convinced several hardcore Taekookers that their ship is not real, and if there is one duo in BTS that might be romantically involved, it's Jikook. They admitted that to me after facing the evidence and facts that were hidden from them, but it didn't last long. Just a few days of interacting with their Tkkr fellas was enough to get brainwashed by more appealing theories and call me a liar and manipulator lol. This chain will never break, looking at the community of shippers in 1D made me sure about that.
It's not that they are trying to convince you (us, Jikookers), they are trying to convince themselves, the newcomers who have no clue about what goes on, the Tkkrs with some brain cells left who start to lose faith, and any weak mind out there is their target. It's already a lost battle for them, and they know it well. All they want is fewer losses.
But it's not just that, besides their attempts to keep their community big and in the majority, they are doing their best not to let you feel satisfied or winning (in the competition they made inside their minds). You need to knw that this is a mental war against Jikookers, and it's not just done by Tkkrs, all the breeds of Jikook-antis are on it these days, that's why I'm addressing them as antis and not just Tkkrs. For example, the other day, a JJK akgae tweeted something like 'jikookers are mad because JK likes girls', but in the quotes and replies, she had admitted that she was annoyed by Jikookers celebrating Jikook's new military photos.
It's clear who is mad here. They deliberately and blatantly lie and project to belittle you, trigger you, and reach some level of satisfaction by affecting you mentally. So, don't let that happen, don't give them what they want. I already said there's no battle or competition, but don't let them win this mental war against you.
Why So Serious?
Joost Meerloo, in his famous book 'The Rape of the Mind,' says: “Logic can be met with logic, while illogic cannot, it confuses those who think straight. The Big Lie and monotonously repeated nonsense have more emotional appeal than logic and reason. While the people are still searching for a reasonable counter-argument to the first lie, the totalitarians can assault  with another.” Although we are not fighting a totalitarian regime lol, this is the exact reason that arguing with antis is pointless. They use 'theories' to debunk the 'moments', and call the real moments 'delusional and fake' while celebrating total lies.
Tumblr media

Debunking lies is necessary, and everyone should do that as long as they are armed with perfect and mouth-shutting evidence. Otherwise, you should avoid it because nothing is more damaging than doing a bad defense. And these debunkings and defendings don't have to turn into arguments.
Joost Meerloo, in the same book, talks about a solution: “We must learn to treat the demagogue and aspirant dictators in our midst with the weapon of ridicule. The demagogue himself is almost incapable of humor of any sort, and if we treat him with humor, he will begin to collapse.”
Yes, you can debunk, correct, educate, and even argue in an unserious manner. Shipping is not that serious, anyway. Good humor is not insulting, we don't want to drag down or set anyone up. Spreading facts and truth positively and debunking lies with humor and ridicule is all we need to do instead of endless fights and anxious clapbacks.
This post was supposed to be a word, but it turned out as a long and boring essay of information that I'm sure most of you already heard so many times. But it doesn't hurt if we get reminded sometimes to think more deeply and get a better view on what we are dealing with.

While we're all talking about not buying the newest electronics because of the apparatus of death and slavery that produces them, it might be worth considering getting comfortable with Linux for those who haven't thought about it before. I learned to use Linux (Ubuntu) in an act of desperation many years ago to extend the life of a computer I couldn't afford to replace but I ended up favoring it so much that any time I get a device with Windows on it I purge it immediately. I don't buy computers, I just use others' busted, obsolete hand-me-downs and I make them faster and more reliable than the brand new thing they paid retail to replace it with. And I don't even know what I'm doing, I have been a completely casual user this entire time, because it really doesn't require you to know very much anymore. It isn't hardcore nerd shit with a huge barrier to entry like it may have been once, and in my (admittedly limited) experience of using recent Windows it's harder to force that into compliance than to troubleshoot Linux.
Almost any distro (version) that you'd want to try is free. I've mostly seen Linux Mint recommended to newcomers which I think is a good choice. I have Debian on my (at least 12-year-old if not older) desktop right now. https://distrowatch.com/ is a site that tracks and reviews distros but if you get analysis paralysis Mint is a safe bet. There really is no risk (though, do back up your stuff before messing with your computer, but you should be doing that anyway) and as long as you already have a thumb drive there's no cost. You don't even have to actually install it, you can run it off a USB stick and leave your hard drive intact if you want. You can install it alongside your current operating system and pick which one you want to boot at startup. I'm not a gamer and I don't know anything about streaming but I know there are people who do that stuff on Linux distros. This isn't remotely a solution to resource extraction, forced labor, and planned obsolescence but it's an easy, free way to have more control over how you make use of electronics.

okay. full episode analysis coming later because i have so, so much to say about that one clip, but:
so. Dominion references. that's the big thing. we got two of them back-to-back in a very hard to ignore way if you're familiar with season 2.
but it's not just been Dominion. that's been what we're all excited about, obviously, but there's been some other stuff blending in.
after all, we have Viking surviving the apocalypse and talking about how he has experience working with tnt bombers-- something said ooc, maybe, but he has been working with them on both Hardcore and Twitch SMP, and died on TSMP because of getting caught in the explosions.
there's also the moment earlier in the trial where M1G starts ripping into Milkman for what he did on Pleasantcraft. again, line between ooc and in-character is blurry here, but either way Viking recognized what M1G was getting at. (Viking also cut out the part where it got called into question if that should count as testimony against Milkman seeing as it happened on another server and Elffe said "let's get multiversal". god, literally everything elffe did in the trial was great)
but, speaking of multiversal, i'm going to bring up something i've been calling "multiversal bleed" for lack of a better term. sometimes the lines dividing the Vikings are... wiggly. history likes to repeat and mirror itself (as shown in the trial), but some stuff slips in regardless of reality echoing itself. this is the obligatory part of the post where i pull up the TSMP transcripts.
because, for some reason, this specific line from tViking sticks in my head:
Viking: [cat beckoning noises] Frickin’ cat, like the cat I had one time. C’mon.
the reason this is filed under multiversal bleed is because Viking had a cat in Gilded Hardcore. (Also in Dominion, but Cranberry is better remembered.) tViking also could've had a cat during the gap of time between his arrival in TSMP's world and tRuby's, but either way the reaction was "wait, Gilded?"
there's also an equally brief example in the solo Skyblock series, where Wanderer recognizes Avid despite neither of them having crossed paths on-camera before... or those specific versions, anyway. again, Gilded Hardcore.
multiversal bleed is kinda a consequence of mcyt in general when you have multiple series running with different iterations of your character. there's bound to be crossovers and quick jokes and the like. but, considering that Viking's lore has been steadily building up to his status as a universal constant, it's more on the table as "something with canon repercussions".
going off of what moxijunk has suggested before, Summertime might be having heavy bleed from other versions of himself. he's still a separate entity from dViking, or Hardcore, or tViking, but when things get a little too familiar, memories that aren't his start to spill through. it seems to be what's happening to Cherryby, after all.
there is another route, though. on some level, we know the Vikings are aware of each other... maybe. again, most of my evidence is going to be from Twitch SMP, seeing as that went deeper into the overall storyline that's been building since the introduction of V.P. as a concept.
Navigator, local Viking that knows about the multiverse and is very involved in keeping it on-rails, told Sapphire at one point:
Navigator: You won’t tell me anything. And none of the others seem to know… or know even he exists.
and Sapphire later brought up:
Sapphire: Well. I am me as much as this one… is nothing. Hm. Y’know? Me, myself, and I… always work together. We’ve always have. Just as all Vikings. And… Navigator: So you work together… Sapphire: Even to an extent, VP, back before… Well. He didn’t, anymore.
...so there's some level of communication going on between the Vikings. Navigator keeping himself hidden from tViking probably has more to do with "tViking being an unknown and dangerous variable" rather than "Vikings aren't supposed to interfere with each other". maybe. basically anything with Navigator involved is vague, though.
and then, of course:
Viking: So for me, [laughs] I may not build these things myself, but I wake up and they’re done, and I know it’s me, because me wants to help me. Vikings help Viking. That’s how it works.
Vikings help Viking.
this hinges on Summertime being aware, either consciously or subconsciously, of his other selves.
in a TSMP stream i don't have a clip of at the moment he did swap places with tViking / Navigator, but there was no meeting of the Vikings and we don't know if he understood what was happening or if he even remembers it. most of the evidence here is from Navigator, who is an outlier and probably should not be counted, and tViking, who has been voted "most possessable Viking" since near the start of TSMP's storyline.
good lord this post got long. i'm going to go get coffee. draw your own conclusions because i forgot mine

Thank you for the long response.
Please be aware that I don‘t dirsegard any of your points and anslysis because you came to your conclusion on what sounds like one watch of one playthrough?
Also I want to excuse myself for not clearing up that the two scenarios I described are only human Laura for the first and the second is werewolf Laura.
Anyway, you are 100% correct in the things you said because they are based on the things you know.
But I do have played various outcomes of the game and discussed the game and which interactions will cause which ending to length ends with other fans. (Personally I am still missing like six trophies.)
So I do have the burden of the knowledge besed on what could have been.
But yes, if you take that one playthrough as it‘s own story and ignore the other possibilities, then I do agree with you, that the motivation for killing Laura is probably not only caused by the fact that she shot him but everything else too. And certainly the fact that she is not who he made her out to be. Feeling like she owes him when she absolutely does not.
I was not aware that was your approach in the original answer.
Because personally I can't do that. I am aware that those are different outcomes, different AUs but the baseline personality is to me always the same. And making Travis snap is a huge thing and it takes one specific action for it to happen. I will always take everything I know into consideration and can't ignore it.
Which is why I like the game so much. With every new playthrough you learn so much more about the characters. Kaitlyn and Jacob know each other since they are children? They kissed? I did not expect that! Nick ignored Abi the first day of camp? But then at which point did he see her? That is very interesting.
And If I would have to guess I feel like most Travis fans take it like I do. We do have various endings. We know there is more to the story which is why I guess many come to his defense. Travis is not the bad guy in the story. He is a victim too.
One last point, I do not victim blame Laura. She is obviously traumatized and I assume we all would be.
BUT while Laura is a victim, she does not seem too heartbroken about the fact that she killed a human and plans to kill another one. That too is fact. She gets told that she killed Kaylee - a person that never did anything wrong to her. A teenager, the same age as her. Maybe younger. Laura says she shot a monster. But Laura knows that behind that “monster” is a human. She would also be sad if someone shot werewolf-Max and certainly not use her own arguments to cut the person some slack. It is okay for her - and only her - to kill people because they look like werewolves but certainly it would not be okay for others to kill Max because he looks like a werewolf. Laura is in a hyperfocus and won't be deterred. That is true in every playthrough. And that can’t all be put on the trauma.
But everyone is a victim one way or another, the counselors, the Hacketts. Almost everyone is at fault too. Even Eliza. There are theories out there that killing Silas is in the end the only good ending, even for him.
You asked why Travis did not search for Laura when she left the prison… It might have already been too late? Since it’s the version in which he was shot, he probably needed some time (as for why he was so fit after being shot, there are theories that the indigestion of werewolf blood helped the Hacketts to heal faster, which is also why Bobby can be shot by Ryan earlier in the game and seem to shake it off just as well.) to recover, get out of the prison cell and get home to help his family werewolf-hunting and protecting the counselors. There was no time to look for Laura. Or maybe he did? Maybe he looked for Laura and then had to return home after Kaylee was shot? We don’t know how he learned about Kaylee being killed by Laura. But he also did not know what exactly her plan was. Maybe he hoped that she ran far away? That she found a way to be safe from her werewolf boyfriend and leave? If she is gone the family won’t have to know what Travis did. If the Hacketts find Silas and kill him, that problem of werewolf Max will be resolved too. But that is all guesswork. We don’t have enough information.
Because another thing is, Constance only wanted them all dead after she learned about Kaylee’s death. Maybe she would have asked Travis to take care of Laura and Max if she knew about them in the station… but we can’t be sure. Because it certainly looks like the Hackett’s do their darndest to protect the counselors. That might sound weird but in my latest playthrough I realized that it really seems like both Bobby and Jed get out of their ways to actively protect the counselors from the werewolves... which is weird since again it seems like Chris and Constance want to get rid of Max and Laura... you’d consider that maybe they would kill Max because he has been bitten and they don't want him to spread it further, while until a certain point, except for Nick no one else has been bitten. But they tried to abduct Nick... which again is weird because Bobby could just have shot him instead of trying to bring him "to safety". Heck, even later when Nick already is a werewolf they don’t kill him. They bring him into the cells in the cellar of the Hackett mansion!
But still, Travis is protecting Laura and Max from his family for some reason. Is it because he wants to keep them to himself? Not what I would think but possible. I also want to point out that we don’t know who killed the journalist or the couple of hikers, but if I remember correctly at least one of them was killed/bitten by Caleb? It is not clear if it was his werewolf form or his human form.
Again, to understand the game, I feel like one really needs to see all the variations. All the possibilities and take them all equally into consideration.
That is why analyzing the Quarry and every single character is so hard, because the more often you watch it or even better, play it, the clearer and also more confusing it becomes.
Again, Travis will only kill Laura in cold blood when she shoots him in the cell. ONLY THEN. Otherwise there is nothing she can do to make him kill her EXCEPT when she is a werewolf and Ryan does not shoot Chris.
Then he will stab her in self-defense and she will rip his head off. Ryan will die too because Werewolf-Chris will kill him.
So yes, in that one instance of the playthrough you watched, your analysis is correct (though I feel like even then there are still more answers to the problems shown.)
Sorry if I misunderstood that again and you have already watched even more playthroughs.
Also sorry for the late response and if I forgot something or misunderstood AGAIN. It is very possible.
From Travis's perspective, Laura is a legal adult (or only a few months shy, seeing as she and Max are applying to colleges and allowed to make a 500+ mile roadtrip unsupervised) who deliberately ignored his attempt to keep her safe (leading to him having to deal with the fallout of putting a bullet in his brother), shot him, and then murdered an innocent child while trying to kill a different member of his family. All to release her boyfriend from a curse he wouldn't have had, if they'd done as Travis told them two months ago.
Not saying that I think he was justified in killing her, just that I can see why he snapped, especially since violence is what he grew up with.
Ehhhhhhhhh I don’t know. That’s definitely his perspective and makes sense in a point A to point B perspective but. He hated his family (even if he did love them), he was intentionally fucking with max and Laura, lying, and kidnapped them. Truth be told there’s not “right” person in this situation, the entire thing is a cluster fuck and complicated on purpose. Still, Laura is justified. knowing your attacker’s sob story doesn’t suddenly magically make it okay. Not that you’re saying that, I just mean that regardless with or without the info what he did was fucked up and it’s crazy that he was rageful at her. He also planned to kill her when she escaped, before the actual showdown and murder when she was just a victim. Travis isn’t a hero even in his best ending. To be honest, Laura isn’t really either. No one “wins” in the quarry. You just gotta do what you can to survive. In a sense, that’s what Travis did too. She was a threat to his family. There’s no excuse for anyone’s actions, the bottom line of the story is honestly, what would you do to survive? What’s your justification for all this dark shit in this ugly world? All the characters have something to live with even if they all live. So, is your family’s life more important, or the life of innocents? That’s why Travis can either kill his entire family or not. He decides based on Laura’s actions if it’s all worth it and with your play you can decide no it’s not, or yes it is. The competing perspectives is what makes the quarry so cool and complicated. It’s truly just a big fuck up all the way around and I love it so much. Still think it’s ridiculous to murder someone over all that though lol. There’s only a hand full of scenarios where you can actively choose to murder someone in the quarry and I don’t think that’s for naught and the severity and horror of cold blooded murder (from humans and from not) is definitely a tool used in the quarry’s narrative. Idk. The quarry’s just cool man.
Also idk if “legal adult” is really on anyone’s minds outside of the minds of people on tumblr, in the real world you’re either a kid or an adult to a lot of people and the fact Travis calls her a stupid girl I think it’s clear he sees her as a kid and that’s why they develop a kinship because she, like many of the people Travis failed, should be protected from his family. (Travis has a lot of guilt regardless of how the story goes down and that plays into it very much honestly)
And idk. I do feel like this is blaming Laura wayyyy too hard. Just like Jacob laura had no way knowing this was gonna happen. Like Laura points out Travis’ fault is he isn’t forthcoming with information and that puts them all at jeopardy (*sits Laura down to show max’s transformation, Laura: jeez! You could just said…, by this point Laura is a little more aware of what’s going on and does see Travis’ kind potential and that he’s not just doing this out of malice). It’s a crazy situation honestly but he easily could’ve convinced max and Laura “hey this shit is fucked up and you have no idea what you’ve stepped in” and they could a worked together. (At least explain it after a couple weeks. Two months? WTF??) Like, he does, kinda, but he’s so vague even after narratively we the audience know what’s going on that if you were Laura in the situation you wouldn’t just be trusting this fucking guy that kidnapped you ya know? He is dangerous. Laura doesn’t know what he’s gonna do. It makes complete sense how hostile you can play her. But in my head adding all that up, it’s crazy he wanted to kill her because she escaped. Like I know she shot him (lol) but he comes back perfectly fine in chapter 9 so whys he butthurt lmao 😭 I’m sure there’s some stuff missing because of the game’s cuts but still like I said he decides to kill her after escaping and I think he’s a little tender over it considering he kidnapped them and is in some way responsible for max getting bit because he didn’t warn them and even if he had warned them properly he’s still at fault for pussyfooting with his family’s curse which Constance calls him out for.
Ya know why I mean?
Travis is a flawed guy. Period. He’s interesting. It’s why so many people like him. I think it’s fair to be like lmao about him sometimes
Edit: Oh I kinda missed the important part that the context to get Travis to kill you is to simply play Laura resistant and fierce to her attacker and Travis decides this bitch is annoying and hates her THAT bad over it , it’s so petty it’s funny honestly 😭

ok not to dip into gay vs bi mike discourse again but i literally dont know what part of “boys only” people keep missing. mike has constant references to him not being attracted to girls. it’s literally inescapable in the show. not JUST him being into men, but SPECIFICALLY him NOT being into girls.
like people will say that “oh there’s a woman on the conan poster and thats bi mike proof” which a.) the shirtless man is very clearly the feature of that poster and also he’s got a shirtless dude dragon too, clearly men are the focus for him and b.) even if mike had 10 framed pictures of supermodel girls in bikinis above his bed, it still doesn’t erase all of the constant “not attracted to girls” lines/imagery that surrounds him. and that “not attracted to girls” imagery would lead me to believe that he was putting up those pictures of supermodel girls to compensate. it would be one thing for him to have stuff like that Without all of his “not attracted to girls” scenes. but he DOES have all of those “not attracted to girls” scenes.
It’s the same as when he says shit like “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”. He’s compensating. Mike Wheeler is gay. He’s not into girls. It’s not even a matter of “oh i WANT him to be gay or i think bi mike would be BAD,” instead it’s simply a matter of what is or isn’t supported by evidence in the show. I’m not saying “bi mike is bad,” I’m saying his ass isn’t bi. What i AM saying when I say things are bad re: this topic, is that SO much of the supposed bi mike “evidence” is “bad”/inaccurate & that so much of the bi mike analysis is bad/inaccurate because 9 times out of 10, it directly relies on outright ignoring the existence of other scenes in the show (such as all of the scenes with references to mike not being attracted to girls).
It’s like, if someone dropped an analysis saying “well actually, dustin doesnt have brown hair, he’s a redhead,” saying that That analysis is Bad doesn’t mean that you hate redheads. it means that you think that the analysis is bad/ that the person who wrote the analysis is wrong & doesn’t understand what dustin looks like or what a redhead is/you think that dustin is Not a redhead & that the analysis is bad because they’re ignoring the evidence that contradicts their point (the obvious shots of dustin having brown hair)
I’ve noticed that hardcore bi mike analysts tend to try and squeeze and force the evidence to fit their conclusion instead of letting the evidence guide their conclusion. Many of them go into it wanting to Prove Bi Mike instead of going into it just trying to figure out What Mike’s Sexuality Is.
