I think the funniest (or saddest) thing about Cold is that he isn't even that much of an asshole. Like, he's really not. He does care, he just refuses to show it, or shows it in his own fucked up and unhealthy way, but he does care for the voices.

Sure, he 100% despises the Narrator, but he's got a really good reason to, to be fair.

And like, even during the Burned Grey when he's arguing with Smitten, he isn't really being cruel or mean, Smitten's the one losing his shit when he is the one who killed them in the prior chapter. Cold didn't really kill the Damsel either, we did. And like, obviously Cold is there in the Burned Grey because we killed the Princess in cold blood, but I think he's also there because Smitten killed us in cold blood.

Which makes Smitten hatred for him even more funny than it already was.

I'll maybe add more to this later, but my point is, I find it really interesting, and quite realistic, how Cold's apathetic attitude is seen as him being an asshole, when my man's just chilling, and trying not to fall apart in a world where they cannot catch a break for like 5 minutes max lmao

(EDIT: somebody in the comments pointed out that cold blood doesn't mean what i thought it meant for smitten killing us, because he was very emotional while killing us! i think the rest of my points still stand tho :))
