IRL Sixsona Designs Pt. 2: Makeup Edition

Hey y'all! This is second in a series of a few extra sixsona posts that @lightleckrereins and I are doing this week. The first post is here, showing the real-life vinyl inspirations we used!

This time around, I'm doing yet another hypothetical: what makeup would be used for each sixsona design!! My list of makeup recommendations for Six cosplayers is probably the post I'm second-most proud of (after sixsonas ofc). When I was initially working on that I kept seeing makeup that would be perfect for some of our sixsona designs, so because I have absolutely zero chill of course I had to figure out the full makeup plots for each.

The basic rules were - one glitter - one eyeshadow palette - and two additional products to fill in any gaps, as needed (this included fun stuff like an extra glitter or liquid liner, but also practical things like additional eyeshadow shades when needed or a liquid base for more sheer colors)

I did most of the sourcing work for the makeup, but Sofia created the inspiration + made final decisions on the makeup for all her designs.

             LADY GAGA ATTENDS THE 2023 OSCARS

After a long blackout season, Lady Gaga finally returned to the public eye at the 2023 Academy Awards held at the Los Angeles Dolby Theater.

Not only did she grace us with several looks, but also with a surprise performance of her “Top Gun: Maverick” movie title song “Hold My Hand”.

Styling by Sandra Amador and Tom Eerebout with assistance by Victor Cordero, Gianni Catalina and Venetia Kidd. The hair was done by Frederic Aspiras using Joico while glam was done by Sarah Tanno-Stewart using Haus Labs. Sweet and short manicure by Miho Okawara who used OPI.

Mother Monster made her entrance wearing one of the freshly debuted Versace Fall/Winter 2023 closing numbers seen on Gigi Hadid — a semi-transparent black tulle corseted bustier top with bullet bra, long wool-silk box pleat drop-waist skirt with frontal projected kick and silver Nastro Gianni Medusa 95 belt to perfectly reflect the Italian fashion label's house codes!

Her jewelry was provided by none other than Tiffany & Co. who chose some of the most stunning diamonds for her. Just like these $1,950 solitaire brilliant diamond stud earrings.

It’s rare to see archival pieces on the red carpet—it happens occasionally but not as often as jewelry historians would hope. This 1960s necklace of platinum and diamonds definitely made sure to catch all the attention.

She also wore the house’s “Victoria” collection platinum and diamond cluster bracelet...

...and a whopping $20,800 platinum and diamond pavé band ring from the “Soleste” collection.

To create the look, Tanno used products from Gaga's beauty brand, Haus Labs. She started with Color Fuse Blush.

"I used “Dragon Fruit Daze” first which served as the base, and then we layered with “Watermelon Bliss” to add depth,". For Gaga's red glossy lip, Tanno used Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer in shade “Cherry Shine”. "It was the first time I've used it on the red carpet — It deserved a moment!"

Tanno also reveals the reason why Gaga's skin wasn't flush after removing so much makeup before she got on stage, crediting the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation, which she wore on the carpet, for being very gentle and soothing on the skin.

"Because our foundation contains fermented arnica it calms and soothes the skin while you are wearing it — I believe this is why I didn't have to worry about any skin irritation after such a fast removal." Tanno explains.

For her raw performance of “Hold My Hand”, Gaga went for a bare face and a minimal outfit consisting of pieces we’ve seen her rock before in her off-duty hours. 

She rocked her favorite Saint Laurent black skinny jeans with slashed knees she owns and loves since 2016! It was paired with a vintage band tee she turned inside out, which I have yet to ID.

The shoes are the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star classic low-top sneakers in black canvas.

There was actually a third outfit change that was not broadcasted on TV! LG wore a vintage Versace Spring/Summer 2002 black silk gown with lace insets and jet crystal embellishment. Above you can see a similar, shorter version.

She also added another Tiffany & Co. ring onto the mix. It’s the alternating ring in platinum and diamonds ($19,500) from the “Victoria” collection.

Hi. I just saw the ask about foundation. Of the four brands you mention, which one is the best for oily skin. I live in the United States, in the deep south where in the summer, in July, foundation pretty much melts off my skin. It can get very humid here. It's very hot and can be very humid where I live. My skin is oily, not combination. Thank you in advance for your help.

I get that! The south is a humid humid place. The best thing for my oily skin was to stop using so much mattifying products. I know, seems weird. But you need balance in your skin. I would say that Pat McGrath is the most natural finish, but that foundation isn’t cheap. I would go to Sephora, get color matched, and ask for a sample to try out. Makeup by Mario does have a bit of a glowy finish, and I just got Haus Labs today, so I’ll have to report back on the way it wears.

what are your favorite lip products (lipsticks, etc)? 👀

lip balm: my ride or die is the glossier balm dot com in berry, but you really cannot go wrong by picking up eos/burt’s bees

lip oil: the fenty cherry treat kathryn put me on, which is hydrating + makes your lips SO glossy and soft !!

lipstick: my nars dragon girl lipstick is my favourite ever, classic red lip!! and then i also really like the makeup by mario supersatin formula (i wear shade rockefeller) and the charlotte tilbury lipsticks (picked up a mini set around the holidays, highly recommend finding the pillow talk that works best for you)

lip gloss: i don’t tend to reach for this but when i do it’s the fenty one, especially the red gloss has such a lovely pigment

lip glaze (i guess!): i bought my sister the haus labs launch for her birthday and ended up stealing it all the time because it’s just so good. great pigment feels nice and looks lovely

lip liner: i use the nars lip pencils to line and it works great for me, but i want to try more !!

Fav makeup products?

There are several that I like quite a bit. My favorite goth-minded brand is Black Moon Cosmetics - they have great liquid lipsticks especially. I also like Limecrime quite a bit (and yes, I know their founder is scuzzy, but she doesn't own the brand anymore).

I used to be really big into Melt Cosmetics back when they had more goth-type makeup, but they've gotten more conventional with time, which is a bummer. Thankfully I still have a bunch of their old eyeshadows and eyeliners that have since been discontinued.

Medusa's Makeup makes really good cosmetic glitter. The black liquid eyeliners I currently use come from Haus Labs and NYX. The white foundation I use for trad goth looks was made by Illamasqua. My normal pale beige foundation and powder comes from Tarte.

The mascara I use is Too Faced's Better than Sex Waterproof, and that shit really really does not come off. I'll still have remnants of it around my eyes after four days sometimes. I have never worn false eyelashes and I don't know if I ever will - it's just not for me.

oh i forgot to say im specifically asking abt gloss recs for the sephora sale specifically! also if u wanna babble about any stuff from it ur particularly excited about id love to hear!!

So the other things I want to babble on about were like the recommendations for the sale Id give people irl a lot bc you’re giving me the chance, y’all get yo hear some more makeip thoughts. Cause like i did already place and receive my order lol. It was some lipsticks I started to show and a lot of skincare and hair care stuff which feels less fun to ramble about. If I make another order, it’ll prolly be perfumes, I ran out of Prada candy and soo want thay back.

✨glossier stretch concealer- this is a holy grail for me, ir doesn’t set down tho so if that’s an issue pass. But like I think it looks way good and doesn’t emphasize any dryness or texture in my opinion. My mom loves it too now

✨the haus labs foundation - I just got this today and I got immediately complimented on my skin when I saw someone

✨glossier ultra lip - this has become an everyday staple in different shades for the ladies in my life bc of me. Lucite and villa are my fave shades and my sister looks amazing in ember.

✨danessa myricks dewy cheek and lip in dew it under cover - if I could only have one cheek product it’d be this guy. And looks good on the lips too.

✨fenty diamond bomb - soo pretty and sparkly. I’ll use it as a highlighter and an eyeshadow topper. Gets a lot of compliments.

✨Natasha denona eyeshadows - I think my family is annoyed at liking her eyeshadows as much as they do bc they are pricier. But I love them. I use the glam palette allll the time.

Haus Labs. Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation. Fell in love with this towards the end of this past year. Goes on like a moisturizer almost but still has great coverage. Reminds me of a bb/cc cream and Im seeing a couple other brands follow suit as well. Im not mad at it, foundations that do more for your actual foundation, the skin. A must have for winter and my sensitive skin girlies. ✨ This is the shade deep cool. It blends out pretty well on me but I could probably do a shade or 2 deeper. Cost: $$$ but I think given the benefits, that a little goes a long way for coverage, and that its a huge bottle make it worth it. Have you tried Haus labs products yet? You’re telling me. I have SO MANY lipsticks. NARS powermatte longwear lipstick is legit the best for all day wear. Stays on all day. ColourPop has great cream lipstick. Necromancy Cosmetica has cool colors. MAC is a classic. And HAUS Labs shiny liquid lipstick is great too.

Sorry I have way too many.

Hey Jen, Instagram ads got me. Specifically, a Rare Beauty Instagram ad. I bought their Everyday Rose Lip Oil & Lip Liner Duo. I haven't gotten it yet, but any thoughts about the brand? Did I just waste my money?

I haven’t tried that lip oil, but from my experience Rare Beauty is just a good solid brand. I think Fenty, and the rebrand of Haus Labs is as well. Halsey has a great, albeit limited brand product wise. And the name has completely escaped me. I don’t usually like celebrity brands. Looking at REM Beauty 👀

My little makeup appreciation post for anyone that likes makeup and … yeah just info dumping here about new products I’ve been trying LOL feel free to skip

- Haus labs foundation: shade range bomb, texture what texture, my face has not produced more oil under it, I haven’t even set it with powder to truly test it out and it’s great and smooth

- Charlotte tillbury setting spray: this shit does not budge unless you’re really smearing your face on something aggressively, definitely locks everything in place!! Coming from someone who used to wear the UD all nighter all the time

- those little triangle puffs. Just trust me.

- cream blush and bronzer!!! Also trust me! If you want it to double stay, top it with powder! Specifically, the rare beauty blushes and the Saie putty bronzer!

- Sephora collection brow twist up pencil, better than Anastasia, but still not as perfect as Benefit

- benefit fluff up brow wax

- vitamin c serum. Just any.

- inkey list caffeine eye cream puffy eyes who

- biossance squalene lip balm so plumping and unscented

- JVN rosemary hair oil - pre wash oil has never felt so luxe and so healthy for me, if you struggle with maintaining a healthy scalp and hair growth this will help

- sleeping mask?? After moisturizing at night? Glass skin asap.

- First Aid beauty: also amazing cream, very good for sensitive skin, their BODY SCRUB THO. All bumps and itchiness is gone. Worth the money.
