i drafted the tags on the duo/trio names post really late last night and i just kept thinking about it.

i had been a fan of hermitcraft for a whole year before the dream smp was made and i witnessed first hand, as a day one dsmp hater, the dream smpification of the rest of mcyts. I remember being kinda sad about a lot of artists from hermitcraft shift to posting only dsmp stuff, and the amount of dsmp x hc posts out there made it almost impossible to go through the hermircraft tag without blocking like a million dsmp tags beforehand.

basically i think, being really dramatic btw, that the sheer level of popularity of the dsmp shook the core of mcyt in general (the prominence of dmsp everywhere made me hate it in the first place i think?? as i watched dream at the time but i was really indifferent to the start of the smp). And duo/trio names are almost like a representation of that.

Results of Opinion on Dream + Hermits MCC Team Up Survey

Hello everyone! 401 responses were collected for this survey over the course of six days (22 September 2021 - 28 September 2021). Without further ado, let’s get started! (Warning: It’s like 3000 words long haha)

Question 1: What is your general opinion on Dream + Hermits team up?

“Please I’ve been begging for this for five hundred years, Scott Major I am begging” took up 15% (60 responses), “Yes please” had 24.7% (99 responses), “Neutral / no opinion” had 23.7% (95 responses), “Not my thing” had 17% (68 responses), “Dislike it” had 13.2% (53 responses), and finally “OH GOD PLEASE NO. I will jump into fire if this happens” had 6.5% (26 responses).

Counting “Not my thing” as a negative response, 39.7% of participants viewed the team positively, 23.7% had no opinion, 36.6% viewed the team negatively. Around a quarter of participants were neutral, while the amount of people who viewed the team positively or negatively were around the same. It is safe to say participants of this survey are divided on this topic.

Of course, there are varying intensities to liking and disliking this team, which is why I put down one option for extreme like and one for extreme dislike. As expected, the “extreme dislike” option was chosen the least (6.5%), and the “extreme like” option was chosen the third least (15%). It should be noted that around 46% of participants who viewed the team negatively (68 out of 147 participants) chose the “Not my thing” option, which is the least intense in terms of dislike. People who actually “hate” this team are in the minority.

Question 2: Which one of the below do you use the most for MCYT fandom activity?

Majority of participants chose “Tumblr” (83.3%, 334 responses), followed by “Twitter” (6.7%, 27 responses), “Reddit” (3.7%, 15 responses), and “Discord” (2.5%, 10 responses). Other responses include YouTube, Instagram, and Tik Tok.

From my own experience, Twitter users tend to hate this team, Reddit users tend to love this team, Tumblr users are a mixed bag. So with Tumblr users dominating this survey, I didn’t think it was a surprise that the results of Question 1 were rather balanced.

Question 3: What SMPs do you regularly watch? (Participants could tick all that apply)

92.5% of participants watched Hermitcraft (371 responses), 86.3% of participants watched 3rd Life SMP / Last Life SMP (346 responses), 56.1% watched Dream SMP / adjacent (225 responses), 43.9% watched Empires SMP (176 responses), 15.4% watched Vault Hunters SMP (62 responses). Other SMPs include Legacy SMP, Truly Bedrock, Bear SMP, Origins SMP, HBG SMP, Shady Oaks SMP etc etc but there were only a few responses for each of them. I had some responses saying they didn’t watch DSMP lore but followed DSMP members (eg. SBI).

Majority of participants are familiar with Hermitcraft and 3rd Life / Last Life, with over half watching DSMP / adjacent. Empires SMP, which has an overlap with 3rd Life, is also popular. People also watched Vault Hunters, a project started by the hermit Iskall.

Question 4: When did you start watching / being invested in MCC?

I divided the options into “MCC1 to MCC3” “MCC4 to MCC8” “MCC9 to MCC13” “MCC14 to present”. MCC4 was a turning point in which many well-known participants were invited and became regulars, and was also the MCC in which SBI won. MCC9/10 was regarded as when MCC became more balanced/ competitive, and I put that down because the hermits won MCC9, so Hermitcraft fans might suddenly have an interest in MCC post MCC9. MCC14 is the beginning of MCC Season 2.

37.4% respondents (150 responses) answered “MCC9 to MCC13”, 33.7% (135 responses) answered “MCC4 to MCC8”, 21.7% (87 responses) answered “MCC14 to present”, 7.2% (29 responses) answered “MCC1 to MCC3”. A whopping 78.3% of participants answered MCC Season 1.

Question 5: Who is your favourite among the below?

The choices are (in no particular order): Dream, Technoblade, Fruitberries, Pete, Quig, Sapnap, Illumina, HBomb, I don’t know any of these people. These are the agreed-on top players in MCC, known by some as the “S Tiers”.

Predictably, Technoblade had the most votes with a whopping 40.9% (164 reponses), followed by HBomb with 18.7% (75 responses), then Pete with 11.7% (47 responses), and Dream narrowly behind with 11% (44 responses). The top three voted players have all played with the hermits, with Pete in particular known for being a regular hermit teammate in MCC S2.

Shoutout to the one (1) person who said Quig, you are so valid.

Question 6: Who is your favourite active hermit?

Predictably, Grian has more than a quarter of the votes with 28.9% (116 responses), then Scar at 13.7% (55 responses), and Etho at 8.7% (35 responses). As for the MCC hermits, in addition to Grian’s 28.9% / 116 responses, Ren has 4.2% (17 responses), Gem has 3.7% (15 responses), False has 3.2% (13 responses), Pearl has 2.5% (10 responses), and Cub has 0.7% (3 responses). From this, you can clearly see the disparity in popularity among the MCC hermits, with Grian having an obvious lead and everyone else at around the same level. Although do remember that I made everyone choose one hermit only, thus this is not wholly representative.

Question 7: What is your favourite Hermit MCC team?

The beloved PinkP21 leads with 30.9% (124 responses), followed by the still-relevant-after-a-year Blue9 with 23.2% (93 responses), and the most recent hermit winning team Orange17 with 18.7% (75 responses). Then we have Purple15 with 6.5% (25 responses), Pink9 with 4.5% (18 responses) and Purple17 with 4% (16 responses). PinkP21’s lead is not a surprise due to the massive popularity of both Techno and Grian. If you consider the top voted six teams, Grian, False and Ren have each appeared 3 times, Cub once, and none for Gem and Pearl.

Question 8: Choose three Hermit regulars to be with Dream in a potential Dream + Hermit trio team

This is when the results get a little hard to present. False and Grian are by far the most popular choices, with False narrowly getting slightly more. 71.6% of the participants chose False as one of their three opinions and 71.1% of the participants chose Grian. Then we have Ren with 57.1%. Cub and Pearl have similar percentages (37.2% and 36.2% respectively), then Gem with 26.9%.

General reasons seem to be about having good players (which lowers potential annoyance / frustration), having someone to “counter” Dream in case he gets frustrated / salty, and choosing a particular hermit because they deserve to pop off / be noticed / do good.

And we have the Very Important Count of “people who alluded the False+Ren duo / not splitting them up”- 21 people did! :DDD

Question 10: Which Hermit are you MOST interested to see them team with Dream?

Grian gets almost the majority of the votes as 48.6% of the participants chose him (195 responses). Then it’s False with 19.2% (77 responses), Ren with 14% (56 responses), and Cub with 11.2% (45 responses). Gem gets 3.7% (15 responses), Pearl gets 3.2% (13 responses). If you look at this along with the results for the “choose any three hermits” question, it pretty much lines up.

This question slightly overlaps with the one above, but I’ll record responses nonetheless.

Again, Grian comes first with 22.4% of the votes (90 responses), closely followed by Gem with 21.9% (88 responses), and also closely followed by Cub with 20.2% (81 responses). Ren’s not far behind with 18.7% (75 responses), then finally False at 8.7% (35 responses) and Pearl at 8% (32 responses). Note that some participants said they chose the hermits they didn’t know / they don't have anyone they're not interested in, so the stats might be skewed towards Gem (a newcomer) and Cub (for some reason, he seems to be the least famous in the MCC hermits scene?). So don’t take these statistics to heart.

Grian ranks first in the “most interested” and “least interested” questions. He is the most popular hermit, but opinion appears to be divided.

Consensus seems to be anybody who can act as a bridge, be chill, and knows both sides is a good fit.

The next three questions are about MCC games. Build Mart is there because it’s controversial, Grian (and other hermits) love it, Dream not so much. Parkour Tag is there for the same reason as Build Mart but reversed. Sands of Time is there because… it’s a self indulgent question. I just want to see the SoT love lmao. And I guess it’s there to act as a “control” because from my experience, SoT seems to be loved despite which streamer you main.

Question 16: Opinion on Build Mart?

47.9% of participants (192 responses) answered “Love it”, 33.9% (136 responses) answered “Like it”, 9% (36 responses) answered “Neutral / no opinion”, 7% (28 responses) answered “Dislike it”, 2.2% (9 responses) answered “Hate it”.

81.8% of participants viewed Build Mart positively, 9% were neutral, 9.2% viewed it negatively.

6.5% (26 responses) of participants answered “Love it”, 18% (72 responses) answered “Like it”, 34.2% (137 responses) answered “Neutral / no opinion”, 26.9% (108 responses) answered “Dislike it”, and 14.5% (58 responses) answered “Hate it”.

Concluding thoughts:

Participants of this survey are divided. Many are worried about the reaction of both fandoms (something the CCs cannot fully control) and whether the MCC players will have a good time. Some are very excited by Dream and hermits, some are wary. We can only wait to see whether MCC will give us a team like this in the future. Silly little thing called love (DreamXD x Fem!Reader)

A/N I decided to try something new. It is from XDs pov (kinda) and it's just a short little thing, I believe it's called a blub?

future edit: lol this is a lot longer than I thought, this is a whole ass fic

XD was never one for human emotions. Sure, he craved companionship (i.e. you and George) but that's as far as he's ever gone. He believed he was to be emotionless, a God is not fit for human emotions.

Especially when it's directed towards a human.

But somehow someway you, a mere human, made him feel so many emotions.

It started a few months after meeting you. You had gone off to gather resources to expand your house, but you were killed by a pack of zombies. As soon as he saw you respawn he was filled with anger, worry, guilt, and sadness. He couldn't understand why, but when you comforted him, telling him you had 2 lives left and grabbed one of his hands, his chest fluttered and his stomach churned, but for some reason... he didn't hate it.

The next time it happened was when he found you crying on your porch. He was instantly at your side asking questions, when you explained your pet had died due to a creeper, he was relieved it wasn't anything too bad, but he also felt miserable because you were upset. His chest was once again filled with sadness and hurt, but when you hugged him and his your face into his shoulder, the feeling was replaced with the same fluttering from before.

XD searched everywhere for answers to what he was feeling, but then he decided to ask a certain immortal he knew.

Philza.

Philza's been around for centuries and has had a kid. So, he must have the answer. Knocking on the blonde man's door, he waited, impatiently. When Phil opened the door XD started explaining his little problem.

The winged man laughed at the God's antics. "You're in love, mate."

XD looks at Phil with bewilderment. "I'm... what? No no no, that doesn't make sense. I'm a God, I don't feel petty human emotions like love."

Phil just smiles at the God. "Keep telling yourself that, mate. But if whoever you're in love with feels the same, then just know, human lives are short, they will inevitably move on if they hear you say that." He then shuts the door.

XD sighs and teleports back to Y/n. You look up and smile at XD, "Welcome back! how was your little task?"

XD smiles and hugs you. "I've learned my feelings."

Foolish had been wandering for a while now. The hot desert sun glinted against his gold-plated skin. He he’d been looking for more recourses for Las Nevadas again and lost track of time. Again. He had stopped to rest for a bit and found himself lost. It wasn’t that bad. Been been through worse before, and the hot sun reminded him of L’Sandburg.

He was considering looking for recourses underground for a bit of iron and redstone for a compass and was wondering if he was that desperate yet. Maybe he could find a sand village or something and ask for directions? How would they react to a freakishly tall gold-plated god with emeralds for eyes just randomly showing up out of nowhere? He was contemplating this when something… changed.

It was a gut feeling, more than anything. Like the feeling you get when you’re being watched, but even more ominous. He shivered, suddenly chilled in the desert. Something was off. He could feel a sort of presence, many, really. Ghosts.

His eyes swept the land dangerously, trying to do find out where the sense was coming from. Then he spotted something. A castle, built on a hill of sand a few hundred blocks away. How had he missed it before? There it stood, proud and tall. There was something on the hill with it. A faint outline of a form. He decided to investigate. If he could handle the Wither cult, he could handle this. Granted, he did have help from Eret with the Wither cult.

He trudged through the sand, ignoring the rabbits and occasional chills of whatever spirits were around him. Spirits weren’t uncommon, but they were less common in the amount that surrounded him.

He was wary of the spirits as he found a staircase up the side of the mountain. He stopped before he went up, frozen in his tracks by what he saw.

He heard it first. There it was again

Foolish turned and looked at the sound. There was red running down the edge of the mountain, a thick river of violence. He was familiar with it, but it unnerved it nonetheless. Against his better judgment, he began to cautiously step up the stairs on the side of the mountain. He had to admit, the craftmanship of the stairs was impressive. It was just sandstone, but it was well cut and well placed.

When he got to the top, the sight that befell him unnerved I'm even more. The castle had a hole blown in the side of it, right where a door would have been. Next to that, there was a grave. It read “Here lies Pizza, the best llama we could ask for.” We, Foolish noted, plural.

It got worse. On the edge of the mountain, where the blood dripping down the mountain had been was a circle of cacti splashed with thick red liquid. He approached, the spirits started to get excited, he could tell. They stayed silent, though. All he felt was an urge on and a chill in his bones.

He glanced around again, moving cautiously to the cacti. And he saw a person. Two, actually.

And one was dead.

The figure had his back to the god. He seemed not to notice him as he approached. The corpse on the ground was obviously punched to death, and Foolish shivered.

The man on the edge of the mountain had shaggy dirty blonde hair, and wore a red jumper as a blank expression. He was starting, deathly still, off the edge of the mountain.

“Hello?” Foolish spoke, “Are... Are you the one who did this?”

The man did not reply. Foolish noted his knuckles were red and bruised. It had to be him.

“Do you need help?”

Again, no reply. Foolish took another step forward and nearly jumped as he realised he had stepped in a puddle of blood.

Red life

The thought was clear and unprecedented. What was a red life? What did that even mean?

The man turned to look at Foolish, eyes locking in on him immediately. There was something about the man that he would never forget. The chilling, ominous look of the red eyes that stared at him. It was unnatural. Out of all the things Foolish had experienced in his immortal lifetime, this was one of the most unnerving things he had encountered.

The man's expression was as blank as his eyes. He cocked his head, and if anything, he looked bored. He wasn't holding any weapons or had any armor on. Neither did the man on the ground. The man turned back around, closing his eyes and seeming to gain a pained expression.

“Do you need help?” Foolish said again. He placed his hand on the man's shoulder and immediately was bombarded with a mental barrage of attacks. The chat flooded with names he was unfamiliar with, the words red life were chanted over and over again. The chat, the spirits were screaming for blood. Was this what he was feeling? Was this how Technoblade felt? A screaming, overflowing feeling to attack the nearest person.

Pain shot through his arm as the man twisted, reaching Foolish’s forearm and in a few terrifyingly fast moves ended with the man’s palm in the back of Foolish‘s shoulder after kicking his knee out from behind. He stared down at the bottom of the mountain for a long second, then reacted.

His leg shot out and tripped the man in the red jumper, twisting and found himself dangling half of him off the cliff. The man had tears running down his dirt-stained face, but he had a kicked, crooked grin streaching across his face.

“It was fun while it lasted,” the man said in a sort of wonder-filled but nostalgic tone. He reached up and slammed his forearms into Foolish’s wrist, forcing him to let go. And he did.

And he fell, a freeing smile on his face.

His body fell on the river of blood on the bottom of the rock.

As soon as Foolish picked himself up and left, he vowed to never go recourse gathering on his own ever again.

The Infinity Portal in Season 6 was made by Doc to take you to the place you most want to go, right? Right. Except: that wasn't supposed to be it's original function.

When Doc built it, he intended it to lead to the person you most wanted to see. It failed him twice over in that regard: first, for leading to places and not people, and second because he didn't know where the person he was searching for was.

When he finally broke down and told Scar about how it was supposed to work, Scar assumed, fairly reasonably, that Doc was trying to get the NHO back. And while having Bdubs return to the server was slightly comforting to Doc, it wasn't what he was truly after.

Doc built the Infinity Portal for Tubbo.

Hermitcraft is the home of exiles and runners. You are either exiled or running from something. It is a place for where those that want to belong and want a home and family can exist. It's a myth to most though. It is said the god of thier world, one of the last true admins, removed their world from time.

The universe around it moves on, grows and changes, but hermitcraft is in a safety bubble. Time doesn't effect them or their world. Years may past but they do not age. The die but their god, they call him Void, gives them infinite lives. He is a kind god. He cares for his people, he loves his family.

It is hard to get into the world for someone that is not apart of Void's protection. They only allow those in that will not hurt their family. They only allow someone in after everyone agrees. Void's people are thier friends, are their family, and may the Two have mercy on those who hurt thier family for they surely will not.

X was taking in the peace of early morning with their dear fiance. Most of the hermits were turning in after spending the night working on their projects or still sleeping. They smiled beneath thier helmet when Etho rested his head on their shoulder. Two above knows how much they loved their fiance. Their fiance. X let out a slight giddy giggle. At the sound of their joy Etho bumbed his head against theirs, a quiet show of affection.

The peace was interrupted when a blare of noise ran through X's mind. Someone was trying to get into Hermitcraft. They felt desperate. Someone wanted to become a hermit. X got up and gave Etho a soft keldabe kiss and teleported away to the entrance of their world.

The sight that greets them hurts. A tall child with torn clothes and dirt on their face stands at the portal. Eyes dart nervous back and forth and then settles on X. "Are you Void? God of the Hermitcraft world?" the child says hesitantly.

"Yes, I am."

My name is Ranboo. Please may I take shelter under your care." Old words. Some taught the child the correct words.

"Come inside." They open the portal and allow the child in. Usually the person would be taken to a safe place until everyone could decide if they should stay or not, but this was a child.

"I.. Thank you." The child only barely managed to get inside before they collapsed. X caught them and found that the enderman hybrid was bleeding sluggishly, but there was no way to say how much blood they had lost before they came here.

X took Ranboo in their arms and sent a mental message to Doc and Stress to get medical supplies and potions as a child needed serious medical attention. They also sent a message to Etho to set up a spare room in their base for the little one.

X prayed that Doc and Stress could stabilize the child enough so that they could add the enderman hybrid to their protection. This would protect them from death while they heal.

Perhaps it was because X was a creature of the void and dlet kinship with The enderman hybrid, perhaps it was their parental instincts kicking in, but they wanted to make sure that Ranboo was safe and protected and never to be harmed again.

Back to Sleep - (cc!George x gn!reader)

George loved to sleep. He loved the soft sheets of his bed and the quiet stillness right before his eyes closed and his thoughts went quiet. But what he loved most about sleep was that he got to hold you as he did so. As his mind drifted off into dreamland, he got wrap his arms around your warm body. Got to hold you to his chest.

But both you and George has incredibly messed up sleep schedules. He was a streamer and you were a student in graduate school. There were too many all-nighters between you. Too many days slept through. But they were tolerable. Because at the end, you guys would get to hold the other close. It was all worth it in the end.

George' couldn't see an end this time. You had been studying for a week already. Finals were coming up. You were an amazing student already, but... expectations and ambitions. You were currently averaging around three hours each night.

Your body was starting to show the effects of sleep deprivation. It was getting harder to think - which only made you more frustrated - and you were so unbelievable exhausted. But finals were too close on the horizon and you simply couldn't take a break.

Your boyfriend, however, was determined to change that.

Throughout the past week or so, he had been bringing you food and drinks to keep you healthy. He'd been forcing you to take showers and go for quick walks outside. It made your heart melt. With each loving gesture, you felt yourself fall even more in love with the brit.

He was determined to make sure you slept more tonight. Plus, he missed feeling your body against his as you two slept soundly. It was a type of domestic comfort that he couldn't find anywhere else. George missed you, so, he went to get you back.

"Y/n, love?" He poked his head into the door he had cracked open. The light from the hallway spilled into the dim room. The sudden change made a headache erupt behind your eyes.

"Yeah?" Your voice was rough and hoarse with a lack of use. The most words you had spoken in the past three days were simple "hello"s, "thank you"s, and "I love you"s before retreating to your office once again.

"You need to sleep, darling."

Once again the pure loving concern in his voice nearly made you burst into tears, but perhaps you were too tired for tears. It certainly wasn't out of the realm of possibility.

"George, I don't have time for sleeping." It was painful to say that. Agonizing to throw away the tantalizing opportunity to rest your eyes and huddle under the covers with your boyfriend.

And to your surprise - and relief - he walks into the room, walks right to your side. You nearly sigh when he hugs you because you haven't actually hugged him in... too long.

You nuzzle your head into the crook of his neck. "You know, sleeping doesn't sound too bad."
