This is entirely @wisp-of-chaos's fault. They got me into the idea of Illithid babies, specifically their OC Vlassk with baby Omeluum. If I have to suffer the cuteness overload and brainrot, THEN SO DO YOU ALL.

IMAGE TEXT:

1.) Born partially blind and know their parent of guardian by their psionic signature, touch, and smell. Their vision will gradually adjust over ten to fifteen weeks of age.

2.) Self soothing: Newborns are prone to suckling on their own tentacles!

3.) Internal yolk. A newborn Illithid will "nurse" on its parent's psionic energy for the first six to eight weeks of life before adjusting to a semi-solid diet.

4.) Cranium bones are still soft and not yet fully fused. This makes the birth easier for not just the parent, but the child as well, whose delicate brain can be easily damaged until the skull hardens.

5.) Limbs are soft and extremely weak. It takes months for a newborn to learn how to fully use its limbs, with their tentacles being the first to gain full mobility and dexterity.

6.) Claws are not yet developed. Fingers and toes and very soft and delicate and may be prone to injury if the parent is not careful. Grip strength is extremely weak compared to the tentacles.

BOTTOM TEXT: Extremely soft and fragile, but frighteningly intelligent and curious. Newborn Illithids may gain a higher vocabulary in under a year if they are cared for properly and fed a rich diet of sapient brain mush. At roughly a year of age, they can be given cut pieces of intact brain. After eighteen months, they are big enough to eat a whole half brain. They are able to walk, speak, and levitate around two years.

Other HCs not included due to limited space:

juvenile marks and spots vanish over time.

newborns cannot lift their own heads for at least five months due to the size and weight of their own brains.

teething. Newborn teeth come in at around ten months of age, then shed them at two years, gaining juvenile teeth. These fall out at five years old and they gain their first sub-adult set.

the internal yolk is visible until the newborn fully absorbs it and moves onto brain mush. The translucency of its belly also becomes opaque over their first year of life.

Newborns are entirely reliant on their parent or caretakers for the first two years of their life due to their weak muscle and delicate bone structures. Their fragility makes them precious to a colony, and they take almost as much precedence as an Elder Brain.

I don't know, I just thought this was fricken adorable and like I said, entirely Wisp's fault. I need baby Omeluum in my life being a curious and extra squishy little bean that can't stop putting things in its mouth and is ENAMORED by glowing mushrooms.

It's HC hobbies include extra long naps, chewing its own tentacles, chewing Vlassk's tentacles/hands, getting into places it shouldn't, wearing cookware, naps in its sling and/or Vlassk's tendrils, touching EVERYTHING, watching small critters, and contemplating the mystery of mirrors.

a bg3 au where Saphira and Ace are the protags

Saphira - taken from her crèche when she was young by a doctor to "raise her in their tradition". Escaped the abusive containment years later and then got swooped up by the nautiloid. Prioritizes getting cured and her revenge on the doctor.

Ace - part of a criminal org in the undercity of Baldur's Gate, got sent to retrieve a "powerful relic" for them. Got swooped up by the nautiloid with the relic in hand. Prioritizes getting cured and befriending Saphira.

I WANT the angst of a post epilogue Tav and Astarion who broke up for whatever reason at the party 6 months later- seeing one another- and Astarion is happy - he is free, enjoying life - being the *good* guy-

But Tav is so different. Something is lost in them. Everyone is happy. Everyone is moving forward, finding the things they wanted... But Tav is stuck. Stuck in a past that was only 6 months or so before when he still loved them- but they were happy together. Maybe you didn't want him to ascend and it broke something; or maybe he convinced himself that all your time together? It was nothing. All it had been was a transaction that he no longer felt was worth it anymore. Or he's convinced himself of this

And Tav, with dark circles under their eyes and fake smiles and laughs and jokes- has to pretend it doesn't hurt them still. He seems so happy- and yet they're still left standing in their head in the moment it ended.

Tav who just looks so different, it's a bit of a shock really.

That's not the same Tav anymore.

But it's okay. As long as he finally feels happy and free; they don't mind. One day, it will stop hurting (gods they hope it does.)

Now; smile and laugh with him and make something up about how things are going great. That your heart is not in a million pieces and that you aren't lost in life. That you aren't filled with guilt and regrets.

Modern setting Faerun - Friends au for our BG3 beloved companions.

Bear with me.

Astarion - Rachel, appearing suddendly all dressed up in a wedding suit (elven style) in the middle of Baldurs Perk caffé. He's looking for his forever bestie Shadowheart-

Shadowheart - Monica, who has a weird and not at all healthy relationship with her mother, Shar. Shadowheart asks Astarion what's happened and Astarion, well, he simply couldn't marry his forever fiancé Cazador.

Gale - Ross, who makes his entrance all sad and defeated because his wife Mystra, who broke up with him months ago, just took under her magical, etheral tutorship a new apprentice. Gale is sure Mystra is dating this new person.

Karlach - Chandler. She's a slave of her job, but she takes everything with humor, sometimes self-deprecating, sometimes too weird to understand her, but is the best friend Wyll could ask for.

Wyll - Joey, the handsomest boy and he knows it. All he does, it's for his family and friends, and wants them to be proud of him. He left home pursuing his dream but ended with an awful boss who seems to enjoy watching him suffering.

Lae'zel - Phoebe, no one understands her, she's too weird, too intense. She believes in things no one else shares, and her biggest trauma is that her mother died but then she discovered that her biological mother, Vlaakith, is alive and that she gave her in adoption.

And that's just the beginning of my silly friends au. Can you imagine Gale dating his forever crush, Astarion, at last? Can you imagine Gale yelling "WE WERE ON A BREAK" again and again?

No offence, I love Gale, I just think it suits him xD what do you think? I'm gonna write down my friends au shenanigans so I don't forget.

Ok so I made this snippet before I got the Act 2 Gale romance scene and I realize now that my friend was correct on the fact that I was being a little bit prophetic by writing this

(Also my Tav is a sorcerer tiefling named Aliroth and is hard of hearing so they primarily use Infernal sign language, and because of this they gave their companions a spell that allows them to understand ISL without having to learn it bc if you’re not a tiefling it’s kinda hard to learn it especially as an adult.)

ANOTHER THING! This is a platonic scene bc this is set in my singleplayer run where I’m romancing Shadowheart. In my multiplayer run with my best friend I’m romancing Gale but I swear that I had no fucking clue what was coming during the Gale scene LOL

Aliroth cocked their head to the side. “But I want you around and everyone else wants you around,” they signed, confused.

“Do they?” Gale asked almost defeatedly. “I’m a monster, and they know it. You may have let me stay, but gods know what the others really think. I’m literally a ticking time bomb, even though I at least have control over it now, thanks to Elminster. And now this monster has an obligation, a mission, put upon him by the goddess of magic herself. If Mystra believes that I am the only way to destroy the Absolute, then so be it.”

“I’m not going to let the so-called ‘camp monster’ sacrifice himself, Gale,” Aliroth signed indignantly. “I’ll go to the ends of the earth to find another way to kill the Absolute that doesn’t require you killing yourself.”

Gale chuckled and looked away from the tiefling sitting beside him. In the corner of the wizard’s eyes, Aliroth could see the telltale sheen of tears slowly gathering. “I appreciate how much you care, truly,” he said. “Your insistence on finding a different method than my explosive death to defeat the Absolute is noble, to say the least. But if there is no other way, then we both know what I have to do.” Gale huffed out a wet laugh again, shaking his head, and met Aliroth’s eyes again. “At least my greatest folly will be put to good use, ay?”

“We’ll find another way,” Aliroth gestured, setting a clawed hand on Gale’s thigh reassuringly. “No one here wants you to make yourself a martyr.”

“Trust that I don’t particularly fancy the idea of dying either.” Gale looked down at Aliroth’s hand, whose thumb barely moved against the fabric of his trousers. “I’m not… looking to kill myself. At least I have control over the orb now; but I’m not going to trigger it until I have to.”

BG3 - Yaivai as "Tav", romancing companions

She's not one to turn down offered nights of passion, but sorry Bae and Star, that's all that'll be 😞

Long-term relationships with Yaivai are tricky, she doesn't trust people with her heart, and she sure as everything doesn't trust Astarion that way, meanwhile Lae'zel comes on waaaay too strong for her tastes.

She needs something a little gentler, something more patient. Wyll and Gale I would put as top contenders. Karlach is lovely, but Yaivai has enough fire of her own that needs to be balanced out.

Though I could see her with either of the two soft bois, I think Wyll would win out accordingly to how things progress in game with his slow courting, though she'd get close to Gale as well, as I imagine he'd be trying to solve her dead husband being stuck to her problem.

Also if given the chance, she would easily be homoerotic wosties with Minthara, that is all
