A lack of a Hold-Up mechanic in strikers means that Zenkichi has never witnessed these kids corner and mug shadows for every little penny theyre worth. I think he would lose his mind. Hes trotting around the metaverse w teenagers that have too much experience holding shadows at gunpoint to get what they want. When did this become his life. Neko shogun throws out a snuff soul as an offering and Akira doesnt remove the gun from its face. ‘You can do better than that.’ What the hell do u mean??? Its a fucking cat! It throws another snuff soul on the ground in fear before Akira decides to finally lower the gun and let the cat run off. At least they arent killing the damn things w their backs turned.

HUH-‘#hed get over it quickly enough; these shadows are out here casting spells like ‘die in one hit’ and ‘burn in gods light’ or whatever#so he cant be very sympathetic for long. lol#on the flipside i think sophia would be ecstatic to do hold ups#its a group activity ! yay !!#and she can use the extra money to buy things from the shop :) its a win win!#i think its doubly funny bc i deviate from the gameplay rules when writing stuff#and i fully believe hold ups are done by the person who dealt the final blow#so its not just akira talking to shadows; it could be anyone#theyve all got a way with words. and whoever is matched up poorly is usually substituted by another teammate#i should maybe make a post about that actually#anyway. it would mean zenkichi and sophia occassionally interrogate shadows#and sophia is not the best but she tries#and zenkichi is REALLY good at it over the initial shock#which is funny bc his job is like. about de-escalation and dealing w the public#but from seeing him knock out two grown men in one punch; he is not good at THAT job#my man craves violence….he should be able to instill the fear of god in his targets…as a treat

Neat little interview with Ivan Fedotov from the April 4th Flyers Daily with Jason Myrtetus, they talked about the transition to the NHL, how and why he became a goalie, what's it like to start with all new gear that haven't been broken in yet.
Nice tidbit, Denis Gurianov was hanging out of camera to help in case there were parts he didn't understand and as support in general. Him and Egor Zamula have been his cultural mediatiors so to speak.

Genshin things that I will ignore in canon:
Diluc and Kaeya exchanging letters to each other during his 3-4 year revenge quest
Kid Kaeya was a perfect angel who never did anything wrong
Adult Kaeya is a perfect angel who never did anything wrong
(Let the man be morally dubious that’s when he’s most interesting. Plus his recent characterization is inconsistent with his earlier one and his bio lore)
Yae Miko tormenting every single Inazuma guy character (her silly rivalry with Itto can stay it’s funny)
60% of the Venti alcohol jokes (they aren’t funny most of the time. The only time it’s funny is times like when Beidou wouldn’t let Venti and Kazuha drink despite them both being of legal drinking age)
Paimon being the travelers voice (I’m in the minority where I like Paimon as I feel she’s the travelers annoying little sister and with that in mind she’s written rather well but I do agree with everyone who’s annoyed with how she speaks for the traveler. While I’ve never published any fanfics in a lot of my ideas Paimon ends up getting a bit shafted due to me not really knowing what to do with her because outside of being the travelers voice she doesn’t do all that much.)
Most of the Inazuma main story (if I want to I can be willfully ignorant and enjoy the story but after reading gold-rhine’s Inazuma re-write I can never go back)
The traveler being a jerk to Furina at the beginning of her story quest. (In character for Paimon but the traveler I think would at least be a little more understanding and would try to get Paimon to stop guilt tripping her)
Finally, the traveler fails to get Charlotte any scoops from the fortress of meropide. (I know why but they did waste a bunch of her money and that feels mean)
#genshin impact#extra: 90% of fandom jokes#the aren’t funny and most end up as wild mischaracterozations#tbh most of what I’m annoyed with in Genshin either has to do with gameplay or fandom#I’m pretty good at enjoying stories regardless of quality#one of my favorite games is Fire Emblem Fates#a lot of my Kaeya beef comes from Diluc being my first fave#I read a bunch of good fics that treat the whole thing with nuance and how neither of them were in the right and they both screwed up#and now like 90% is all about Kaeya#or shipping#I’m neutral to most ships#I got Stockholm syndromed into like Neuvilette x Wriothesley#I have at one point activly seeked out Childe x Zhongli#I’m fine with a bunch of popular ones (JeanLisa Eulamber etc)#but so much of Genshin fandom is shipping and because of that it’s so hard to find fics of characters I like without it#that’s why I got stockholmed into liking Neuvilette x Wriothesley#because so many interesting fic premises had it in there it was like or be unable to read those fics#plus I like aro/ace Diluc and I actively headcanon a lot of characters to be somewhere on the aro and or ace spectrum#this is less of a thing I’m ignoring and more of a this makes no sense thing but#in the long ass multi update fontain side quest there is a girl who grew up in the fortress of meropide#and it seems ooc for Wriothesley not either have not noticed her existence or to have done nothing about it#but I can’t ignore it because the quest wouldn’t make sense without her#so for me he knows and is trying to do something about it but can’t get her out for whatever reason#idk something about her not existing on Fontaines people records of something#the least he could do is ask some of the guards to look after her and keep her safe and happy#that’s my explanation

me age seven being sat down in front of the school’s district child psych lady and being given strange, simple spatial puzzles to solve and then long, complicated worksheets and hammering my way through them at the speed of light while having zero comprehension what their purpose was or why i was here: this is urgent! i have to get a good grade in Weird Puzzles, Or Else, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve,
#kjalkjsdalkjasdl mrs button was a nice lady but not one adult in my childhood ever seemed to notice what to me now seems like#a pretty obvious case of the autisms#then again maybe they just didn't look as hard unless it was *really* obvious back then . it was like. what. 2000? a couple years later#everybody was talking about autism but not when i was six or seven then it was usually just when it was Very Visible#a couple years later my cousin who's more visibly on the spectrum than me got her diagnosis so young that she's pretty much always had it#which is...well i think it's just made her life difficult in a different way. people underestimate her or don't treat her like she's her age#but then she's always had the opportunity to get accommodations and people are sometimes more forgiving when she can't do something#whereas i got labeled 'kid that should be ahead of the game' from a pretty young age and then when i struggled adults either ignored it#or it was just a huge hassle to them and even i could see it exasperated them to have to work around me#but because mrs button (nice lady but what were you thinking) hadn't told them to treat me like a kid with a developmental disorder#they didn't do that in good OR bad ways . so i never got any accommodations with school stuff i struggled with which was a fair bit#i wasn't supposed to need extra testing time in a quiet room or tutoring with math or help organizing my abysmally scattered things#the only time i DID get that was in sixth grade when i was sort-of friends with this kid jonathan who was Very On The Spectrum#he wasn't really a talker unless it was about whatever he was reading which suited me fine so we just kind of existed in each other's space#and his TSS was this very smart and nice lady who had clearly clocked that Something Was Going On With Me and even though it wasn't like#her JOB she made a little bit of time for me. mostly with emotional stuff (i think i was under the impression she was a therapist?)#but if i had some problem with being unable to keep friends or being frozen out by the kids i wanted to be liked by (happened often)#she'd be able to just like. be there she'd make the time . wish i could remember her name

the other night i saw some quote from sera gamble (spn screenwriter from s1-s7 and showrunner from s6-s7) that was like "this is a horror show - we're supposed to make as many people suffer as possible" and there were ppl in the tags enthusiastically agreeing, and that bothers me lol
when i complain abt the way death and torture are used on spn it's not bc im like Soft and unable to appreciate tragedy lmfao that couldn't be further from the truth. are we seriously gonna act like killing off established characters purely for shock value is good/needed? like back in the day i thought we were all in agreement that spn's unchecked habit (esp mid-late show) of resurrecting popular side characters solely to kill them for the drama of it all was at best incredibly fucking annoying and at worst insultingly lazy writing. charlie's s10 death and kevin's s9 death and eileen's s12 death and their aftermaths - or lack thereof - were all straight-up fucking BAD. it wasn't necessary for patience from s13 to be missouri's granddaughter but they just Had to bring back a character who knew sam and dean in SEASON ONE to make her death emotional.
yes unexpected death is an essential component of the fabric of this show as is fucking around with the rules of life and death but those 2 story elements are at odds and so you end up in situations where certain characters' deaths are obviously preventable, or feel narratively unearned and even punitive, or occur so frequently so as to lose all emotional impact, or reveal one of the writing team's many blind spots.
similar complaints abt torture. you have to think abt which characters get tortured/abused most often and HOW they're tortured, and the underlying misogyny and racism responsible for the differences.
#i could go on but this is already a longer post than i was expecting it to be#the show is really irresponsible with its casting choices for one-off villains and extras sometimes. why are there so many scenes where#Demon Henchman Number 20 that lucifer or crowley is smacking around is a black man#makes my skin crawl#spn#edit: AND ONE MORE THING#the way rowena was treated by lucifer was explicitly sexually abusive in nature for no goddamn reason besides misogyny#edit number 2: there are parallels there of course to the way sam was treated by lucifer#he was the brunt of a shitload of rape jokes. however rowena got more of that ONSCREEN than sam did. bc she's a woman!#sam is narratively (unintentionally) a woman but it is of course still different#commentary tag

Goro and Makoto bonding over being fucked up prodigy kids

Thinking about your son- how is he doing?
Oh thank you for thinking of him ❤️…he’s hanging in there. He had an infusion of rituxan in late Oct that apparently might be working, or at least isn’t actively detrimental according to his labs, so we have another infusion of Rituxan scheduled for February (with two more to come every 12 weeks). His symptoms are definitely still present (lots of tics, still some compulsive behaviors but not as all-consuming, fatigue & mood swings, a lot of anxiety) and he still can’t go to school but 🤷🏻♀️ we’re just kinda keeping on keeping on at this point. TL,DR: kinda the same but that’s a win for now. Here’s a pic of him before he got sick, just because he’s so cute.
#he got sick around thanksgiving and his PANDAS symptoms flared back up very badly#but I think the Rituxan infusion helped the flare not be as intense as his last one#his flares had been getting longer and worse each time but this one is not as bad as the summer so yeah#his specialist was telling me how hard it is to get new neurologists/rheumatologists to specialize in treating PANDAS#because it’s such a frustrating disease to treat and the families are so desperate for help#that it feels extra awful when you can’t offer clear answers#his specialist (Dr Latimer) is one of the best in the world for this#but even she can’t say for sure what will help or how long recovery might take#ANYWAY sorry lol thank you for keeping my sweet boy in your thoughts!

my best friend is moving in with his boyfriend and I am Not handling it super well so real grown-ups of tumblr, how do you deal with it when a good friend has a long-term, serious partner who you think is...fine?
#I've not had to deal with this before because all of my partnered friends are with people who I either#a) genuinely like as people or b) do not feel bad about disliking#this man is fine? he treats my friend well but I personally would never choose to hang out with him if they weren't dating?#like I don't know what my friend sees in him#and I'm also not sure what he sees in my friend#not in a 'I don't think my best friend is worthy of love' way o b v i o u s l y#but they started dating fairly soon after the partner got *divorced* and it kind of seems like#he just really wanted to be in a serious relationship again but like. with a man instead of a woman.#but my friend also never talks about his feelings so I have no real insight into his pov!!#I'm kind of concerned about his logic but he also processes things way differently than I do and y'know it's not my life#so I'm sure it will be fine#also part of what I am having trouble with is definitely that I never thought this friend would *be* in a serious relationship#and there are some minor betrayal feelings happening (especially bc he's moving an extra 20 mins away from me booo)#(why you'd want to move from a cool place near things to a boring place in the boring suburbs is beyond me but I digress)#but (despite my friend's preferences) I'm going to be seeing a lot more of the partner now that they are living together#and I'd like to get to a point where I actually like him maybe?#that may be too tall of an order. where he doesn't actively annoy me??#the man once tried to devil's advocate brittney greiner being stuck in russia I don't think I can be blamed for being annoyed lmao#that feeling when you think all your friends deserve The Absolute Best In The World when it comes to romantic partners#so you get pissed when their partners don't seem to recognize their amazingness
