Thought for a moment in the 2010s that we were entering a new serious era (e.g. 1920s, 30s, 40s), but it seems that we're instead in an increasingly tacky era (50s, 60s, 70s). Like look at the change in YouTube. Well you all are textheads you don't do video, I know that. But like. In 2017 there was ContraPoints. Agree or disagree with her opinions, what she was doing was conceptually and aesthetically serious. Even her early, low-production-value stuff. She was talking about incels and other internet shit, but the internet is part of the real world, that's fine. In fact that's what gave me hope for another serious era, people were finally talking about internet stuff the way 1920s German intellectuals or whatever talked about the cultural trends of their day. Maybe because Contra has half a philosophy PhD and was explicitly influenced by those German intellectuals.

Another example from a totally disjoint cultural niche was Digi a.k.a. Trixie a.k.a. Ygg Studios or whatever they go by now. Drunk, smelly, and unkempt—yes. Or at least so went the persona. Talking seriously about anime—also yes. When they claimed they were the only good anime reviewer on the internet it made a lot of people mad. But they were right!

There were thinkers, we had thinkers. My generation, or roughly my generation, had thinkers. To be clear, when I include Contra here I'm not including all of her ilk, I'm not including the leftist-theory-regurgitators and so on. But Contra herself was a thinker! Digi was a thinker! We had thinkers.

But that era is over now, on YouTube at least. I go on there and it's all algorithmic drivel. I look for anime content and as I've explained it's all about #hype and #epic and how the new season of whatever #hits different and other empty meaningless bullshit. No analysis, no thought, fundementally unserious bullshit. Tacky! It's tacky! The the YouTube thumbnail O-face is fucking 70s-ass fake wood paneling tacky bullshit!

MrBeast. I've never seen a MrBeast video but I hate him for what he represents. I used to watch this channel called Wranglerstar, he made videos about different types of axes and forest fire fighting equipment and various other stuff. "Modern homesteading" I believe was the tagline. And it was always evident that he was a far-right guy but who gives a shit, his videos where good. Serious videos about interesting topics, that a fucking normal guy might watch. Well around 2020 he basically started flooding his channel with covid conspiracy bullshit and "the Chinese are going to attack us any day!" bullshit and other unserious crap. And I had to stop watching. How could I find any of that compelling? It's vapid nonsense.

And I don't know if it's a shift in the algorithm or people becoming more savvy to the algorithm or what, but all of YouTube is like this now. Vapid clickbait empty meaningless bullshit for another tacky commercialized bullshit era.

And you know, I felt like it might just be localized to YouTube for a while, but I started to look around, and it just feels like everything is like this. Backsliding to the tacky times. God I hate tackiness. I hate unseriousness. I'm having a little meltdown. At least SMW kaizo hacks are having a renaissance. People are doing serious shit in that space, serious shit that is also not anachronistic, you know, it's kept up with the modern world. It addresses modern concerns (fun to play hard Mario). But it's serious. People are serious. One of the few serious things happening in my orbit.

Even in science it feels like people aren't serious anymore. You know, standard Sabine Hossenfelder complaint about particle physics. But I don't really know enough about that to say. Get the vibe that biology is still serious these days.

To be clear, everything I'm saying here is pure vibes. I'm just saying shit. I'm just saying shit that I feel. But I'll be deeply disappointed if I have to live my youth in another tacky era, god damn it. Even the 80s seem like they were better than this.

He next performed an obvious fan favourite, judging by the explosive response he received from the Singaporean audience once he announced it. He did so in a gentle and comforting way, not unlike the original, but his jazzy modifications were scattered throughout the song, varying the repetitive verses and choruses with his creative adlibs in both the high and low registers. Slowing things down, Sungha performed Eric Clapton’s “Tears In Heaven,” also from his latest album. His effective use of short, anticipatory pauses throughout the song made it much more enjoyable to listen to and watch. That fun was evident in his performance, with the fancy runs his fingers continuously made up and down the guitar fretboard.

“Sunny” was a track that Sungha said he had a lot of fun arranging, especially because the song was released about 20 years before Sungha was born. He maintained a chill and relaxed beat throughout “Close To You,” and as would be the trend for the rest of the night, he finished the song quietly and sweetly, allowing the sound of his guitar reverberate through the entire theatre. He followed this by introducing himself and his latest album in fluent English, before proceeding to perform two of his favourite tracks from the album, “Close To You” by The Carpenters and “Sunny” by German vocal group Boney M. The guitarist, clad in his trademark striped gray shirt and black pants, started strong right off the bat, displaying his outstanding guitar and percussion skills. Sungha opened the night at Kallang Theatre with “On Cloud Nine,” an upbeat and cheery song from his previous album, L’Atelier.

Ranging from romantic tunes to classic pop, Sungha gave this diverse mix a unique spin, trying styles “which he had never tried before”. Unlike his usual previous ones, this was his first full album filled with his all-time favourite covers. Held on July 22, popular guitarist and Youtuber Sungha Jung made his return to Singapore for the seventh year running, this time with his newest album, Mixtape. I FUCKING LOVE THIS NEW SONGGGG

I was already about to write the new album off as another generic mainstream project that would just be like TTMD and made for radio play but ... I LOVE THE SONG! To my own biggest surprise ^^! The lyrics could still include more words, but have definitely improved from TTMD where he just sang the same words over and over again. My only issue is the line where he claims he was demonized because he had an angel face... People don't dislike him because of his pretty face, it's because of his attitude?! Anyway I'm in love with the guitar play and the drums at the end. Finally Travis is showing us again what he's capable of! The song definitely has ear worm potential for me and I can see myself going back to it and listen to it even years from now and I have no idea how many times I've already listened to it lol. My favourite part is when he's singing "ohohohoh" (and looks very hot while doing it) and then the beautiful guitar in the beginning which I can't get enough of! I love that sound and need that part but make it 4 minutes long! ^^ I agree with the anon above who said that this song is better than almost all the TTMD album. I believe it's because of improved lyrics and a sound that's more unique and which elements were used and highlighted or slowed down at the right times. On TTMD the sound was more generic and lacked variety. In his live stream he didn't want to say that this song is more rock but in my opinion it is and that's exactly what I think suits him so much better than punk pop! His voice is perfect for rock and he has the band for it too. If the other songs from Born With Horns will sound like this and also go more into the direction of rock, it'll make TTMD sound like a child's project (sorry 😬). Also he's actually pronouncing words and not completely slurring them what definitely adds to a higher quality song. I also agree that this sounded a lot more like Kells just doing music that he likes again and less like music that he thinks others would like and would be a safe song. Initially I found the music video a bit weird but I guess the story behind it is about everyone being a punk and different and therefore outsiders and disliked by the world. I hope that eventually he will talk a bit more about the concept of the video and what their thoughts behind all of it were. And until then I know which song I'll listen to the next couple of days ^^!

Historical Accuracy

A very, very silly drabble inspired by a very silly tiktok I saw about “things to do with the boys this summer”.

There were very few nations who picked up new technology, gadgets, or trends as quickly as Alfred Jones. According to his brother Matthew, it was because he was clinging desperately to his youth even as he hurtled toward 450. According to Arthur Kirkland, it was because he spent too much time slacking and not enough time getting actual work done. According to many others, it was because he was a materialistic, fat cat capitalist who filled the void left by his rotted principles and lack of meaningful relationships with silicon and satellites.

Which first of all, rude.

But in the end it didn’t matter, because no matter how quickly Alfred seemed to pick up the latest smartphone, the newest game, or the hottest viral trends, he always seemed to show up fifteen minutes late with a proverbial Starbucks in hand (was that meme even in vogue anymore?) to find Gilbert Beilschmidt sitting in the gamer chair he had set up in Ludwig’s basement, calling Alfred a n00b.

Case in point, Gilbert had 500,000 followers by the time Alfred finally got a TikTok account. He’d amassed his following much like he had on YouTube, back in the day, by streaming unhinged play-throughs of videogames of all sorts with multilingual, furious commentary about the physics, logic, military tactics, and historical accuracy of whatever game he’d been playing. His most popular series was actually from when he’d played through Untitled Goose Game, a fact which he still seemed to be upset about.

It took two weeks for Gilbert to realize Alfred was on TikTok, but once he did, after a great deal of spamming, they began sending each other videos fairly frequently. More often than not, they exchanged TikToks that reminded them of other nations, with increasingly farfetched context along the lines of “idk man it’s giving hungover francis waking up in stockholm on a tuesday morning with nothing but pounds sterling in his pocket vibes.” They also enjoyed placing bets on who the next person would be to join them; Gilbert claimed that Yong Soo had told him that he had a secret account, and Gilbert had an entire conspiracy board assembled on his theories of which users could be him.

Anyway, when Alfred had sent Gilbert a video about a group of friends meeting up to build a trebuchet just for shits and giggles, he’d meant it as nothing more than a source of an evening chuckle, but when he woke up the following morning, he found 27 unread messages from Gilbert. All of them were completely serious. Rather than react to the video, Gilbert had launched immediately into an outline of how many blueprints he had and how he was pretty sure he had enough free materials at his old castle (Gilbert had a castle?!) where they could absolutely meet up if Alfred could make it to Bumfuck Nowhere, Germany, within the next two weeks while Ludwig was still occupied in Brussels.

It’s not livable by human standards, Gilbert had typed, and Alfred had automatically translated this to read as “not livable by 21st century standards”, but you americans are sluts for camping, right?

And goddamnit, Alfred did enjoy camping.

That was how Alfred had ended up in a German town the name of which took up three signposts at the train station and which Alfred couldn’t even try to pronounce even though his German had been polished to a shine since 1942.

Thanks to his willingness to play fast and loose with his security clearance, he’d even managed to sneak in a carboy of homemade moonshine. To that point, Alfred had only seen Gilbert truly astonished once in his life, back in Pennsylvania in 1778, when Gilbert realized exactly how little military training Alfred had under his belt. But here he was, wearing the same expression a quarter of a millennium later when Alfred told him the proof of the bootleg he’d smuggled into Gilbert’s country. Unlike last time, the expression almost instantly gave way to a Cheshire grin.

That was how they’d ended up here, in an abandoned field (”It used to grow wheat, I think. Or barley? Jesus, I can’t remember, I just remember whenever I came here it smelled like beer, it was the best,” Gilbert had said) outside an abandoned, half-bombed out castle, growing increasingly more drunk while Gilbert consulted rotting blueprints and directed Alfred on all the heavy lifting.

Truly, Alfred didn’t mind doing the heavy lifting. It was difficult for him to find a challenging workout, so lifting several hundred kilo’s worth of timber into a mathematically precise angle was exactly the sort of physical exertion he found thrilling. He only wished Gilbert wasn’t quite so eager to become his foreman.

“Is the bullhorn really necessary?” He shouted back at Gilbert, who was hunched over the camp table they’d set up just outside the overgrown ruins of the castle. Gilbert squinted up at him through the sun and raised the bullhorn to his lips before clicking it on.

“Ja.” Alfred opened his mouth to retort, but Gilbert continued, “It needs more counterweight; I want to be able to launch your fat ass when we’re done.”

“Oh, fuck you!” Alfred laughed, hauling more small boulders over anyway.

By the afternoon of the second day, the trebuchet itself was assembled and ready to fire. Gilbert was lounging in the shade on account of his absolutely blindingly pale complexion, watching from a camp chair while Alfred, shirtless, sweating, with a wet towel under his ball cap and prescription aviators replacing his normal specs, was dragging the finished siege weapon into the position that Gilbert deemed correct.

They were also both—particularly Gilbert—fairly drunk.

“Schön!“ Gilbert slurred eventually, and at long last, set aside the bullhorn. “Come chug this before you pass out,” he lifted a full gallon of water and set it on the table.

“Oh come on, I’m not that bad off,” Alfred said, and he really did mean it. He still marched over and popped the cap anyway, giving it a grateful chug before setting it aside and taking a swig of the drink he’d left on Gilbert’s makeshift foreman’s desk. Ice still rattled inside the YETI. Alfred wasn’t even winded.

“You’re really disgusting, you know that?” Gilbert said, looking up at him like a skinny, drunk, middle-aged divorcee, sitting in his camp chair, bucket hat and sunglasses in place with legs crossed and every available inch of skin slathered in sunscreen. Alfred beamed at him.

“Jealous?”

“Fick dich,” Gilbert spat back, nursing his drink through a straw.

“I’ll pass.” Alfred took another sip and looked back at their trebuchet. It had turned out shockingly good for a two-day effort, far better than Alfred had anticipated they’d be able to manage.

“So, scale of one to ten, how historically accurate is it?” he asked. Gilbert scoffed.

“Historically accurate? Pah!” He took another long suck on the hot pink bendy straw, and mumbled around it, “if we were being historically accurate we’d be firing buckets of Greek fire.” His entire body paused, eyebrows raising far above his outdated sunglasses. “You know,” he said, dangerously.

“Absolutely not,” Alfred cut him off, for some reason putting himself between Gilbert and the siege weapon as if the older nation would leap to arm it at that very moment, “your brother will kill both of us.”

“Pffft,” Gilbert waved him off, “that baby? He’s even younger than you, and you’re a fucking infant.”

“Hey.”

“Seriously, though, I have a recipe somewhere in the cellar. It’s in Latin, I think.” Gilbert stood unsteadily from his seat, leaning on the camp table a moment and shaking out his right foot, which had gone numb crossed over his left leg. “Can you read Roman? Mein eyes gone wobbly.”

“Okay,” Alfred said, calmly moving the double-walled growler further away from Gilbert’s hand, “I think that’s enough moonshine for you.”

“What? Please! I’m fine. I remember this tomorrow. Besides,” he straightened and turned to look back at the complete part of the castle where they’d been camping, “eye wobbles making Greek fire more prettier, now helping walk you me, useless schlingel.”

“You realize that’s not proper English,” Alfred said, not moving to help him.

“You understood, no?” Gilbert took a ambitious step forward toward the castle.

“Jesus,” Alfred caught him and turned him around, effectively holding him up with one hand, “we are not making Greek fire, but you can pick out your favorite boulder, come on.”

Gilbert let himself be all but dragged out to the field, and was staring with a disgusted expression at Alfred’s bicep, which flexed under Gilbert’s weight.

“Mein gott,” he poked the muscle experimentally, “you were a twig yesterday, what happened?”

“I can’t believe I had a crush on you,” Alfred griped under his breath, and Gilbert strained to hear him.

“Wie bitte?”

“Nothing,” Alfred said, laughing when Gilbert tripped over a rock and made an undignified noise. It was at this point that Gilbert shook the American off and continued under his own power, which, much to Alfred’s surprise, he seemed to manage with passable results. After much pondering, Gilbert picked out a rock and pointed to it. Alfred hefted it with minimal effort and carried it over to the sling. As the American was fastening it in place, he realized that, given the weight of the rock and the counterweight he’d measured out himself, the rock was liable to land not in the field, but somewhere in the castle itself—the ruined portion, at most, but still.

“Uhh, Gil,” He said, “Are you—I mean, this is going to hit the castle, you know that, right?”

“Of fucking course it is! Your lot bombed it out, so why can’t I use it as target practice? Get moving! Let’s knock some shit down.”

It was not at all what Alfred was expecting, but he shrugged shoulders and finished rigging up the boulder and drawing back the trebuchet to full tension. He brought the trigger lead over to Gilbert.

“If you’ll do the honors,” He said, giving a silly mock bow, because while he wasn’t as plastered as Gilbert, he was still playfully drunk. “As the ancient history expert here.”

Good lord I just came across a video on YouTube of a white man calling himself thoroughly explaining the origins, structures & relevance of aave/ebonics & ppl are praising him for this in the comments like,,,, he's not basically educating other races of ppl on a public platform as to how to appropriate our vernaculars? The Queen by Matthew Dennison Book Review!

Anyone who knows even a little inkling about me will know how much of a supporter I am of The Queen and the British Royal family. Since my childhood, I've been fascinated with Queen Elizabeth, even telling my Mom as young as age three (in the late 90s) I wanted to, "visit a place with a Queen".

At that age I didn't know the Queen by name, but the image I had inside my head was definitely of Elizabeth. A woman with short white hair wearing a crown was what the image of a, "Queen" , was to me. Fast forward to late 2010, just before William and Kate's engagement, and I became a full blown Royal watcher. Since I have been 14, I collect magazines, make an effort to watch video appearances, see documentaries, and follow many Monarchy devoted blogs and social media accounts to keep up with what is happening within "the fold". I watch The Crown every season on its release date (or close to its release date), and know all the latest buzz, but bizarrely, I never have sat down to read a full life biography of Queen Elizabeth. I have magazines, and coffee table books about her, but never chose out a biography. It's so difficult to choose a good one in a sea full of books, and for that, I am so thrilled I got the opportunity to read distinguished royal author Matthew Dennison's (he has written three other royal biographies) newest book simply and elegantly titled: The Queen. What makes Dennison's book stand out against the rest is firstly it's one of the first books to be published about the Queen after the death of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. It looks at their relationship throughout its entirety, giving a fresh examination on the longest royal marriage in history. It was comforting to be reassured how strong the bond between Philip and Elizabeth was. Sure they had their rough patches in their relationship, and nasty rumors along the way, (particularly in the late 50s), but I'd venture to say any marriage, and relationship that was established for 73 years does. It's not so much the bumps in the road they had, it was how they were able to navigate and work through them that counts. It's important to remember Philip and Elizabeth fought for their love, at the time of their marriage with anti-German sentiment, and they endured right up to Philip's death. Its inspiring, especially in the time we live in now. Secondly, I will mention this book does not deviate on tangents about others, its focus is always centered on Elizabeth. Throughout  her long reign, many players both personally and professionally have crossed paths with HM; prime ministers, daughters-in-law, members of staff, and a whole bunch of others. Rather than devoting entire paragraphs to other players such as Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, HM The Queen Mother, or Private Secretary Martin Charteris, Dennsion gives us info about them on a need to know basis in relation to their relation to Queen Elizabeth. This keeps the writing focused with a strong flow in regards to the star subject. At the same time, it allows you to have basis of facts of certain players you may not know much about. During my own reading, to have a background context of the Prime Ministers was certainly a highlight for me, as I personally don't know much about the British Parliament and the people in it! Moreover, I want to point out how fascinating it was to read an in depth analysis of HM's childhood and young adult life before becoming Queen, as it's really the "least" documented part of her life. As with Queen Victoria many people only see Elizabeth as, "The old lady Queen", and it's sad many  forget at one point she was a vibrant young women who reveled in being a 1950s military wife, and someone who grew up in a close knit household in a family unit of consisting of "we four" (herself, her parents, and sister, Margaret).

When she was born in 1926, Elizabeth was not in immediate line for the throne as her father Bertie (later George VI) was the second son of George V. David (later the abdicated, Edward VIII) was the oldest son and therefore, first in line. Elizabeth's childhood until the 1936 abdication (and the following Second World War) was spent as minor royalty, that only serious royal watchers in the 1920s/1930s would read about. Yet at the same time, she was the only "princess" at the time of her birth, and she was the only titled royal grandchild. Elizabeth had cousins who were daughter of her aunt, Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood, but those two sons were not HRHs. I learned just how fascinated people were with HM in her childhood, and it really drew parallels to how today people are fascinated with Princess Charlotte. From sparking name trends, to clothing trends, to making popular toys come en vogue, princess inspiration has always been in the public interest! Finally, I'd like to bring the to attention the fair criticism this book brings to Elizabeth's reign: it's no secret that no one is perfect. Elizabeth has had her fair share of political clashes, family problems and even scandals within her long reign. Its balanced in saying the longer one lives, the more events- both good and bad- you witness. The book is pretty nuanced when bringing up touchy topics such as the Princess Margaret and Group Captain Peter Townsend's romance, HM's parenting skills/ relationships with her children, the Aberfan disaster of 1966, and Princess Diana' death to name a few.

As in within the book, it's all about points of view and the facts. I'm delighted to say the book doesn't take sides when viewing these topics, rather gives enough info for the reader to form their own opinion. I must say, however, I particularly didn't care for the slightly snide remarks given towards Princess Diana- always calling her every move "revenge" towards the family. That rubbed me the wrong way, but as I said, it's all about perception.

Overall, this book was a really informative read that is not just a rehash of the same ol', same ol' you would read in any random biography of Queen Elizabeth. With the last chapter clocking in at page 506, it may seem like a long dung out read, but it goes by quickly once you start digging in. (Personally I spotted one error on page 403, it's William Arthur Philip Louis, not William Philip Arthur!)

What I personally took away from the read was The Queen is an enduring woman. She's witnessed hardships of war, family crisis, premature deaths, scandals, and even the covid-19 pandemic, yet she's always been there for her people, her family and her country. She's been able to navigate changing times and as The Crown actress Claire Foy has said in her 2017 Golden Globes acceptance speech, Elizabeth has been at "the center of the world" since 1953 when she ascended to the throne. I don't think I myself could do better if I were in her shoes, and all that's left to do now, I believe,  is to appreciate her hard work and dedication. God save the Queen!

The K2 (2016)

Summary

Kim Je Ha is a former mercenary soldier known as “K2” who suddenly turns into a fugitive when he is wrongfully accused of killing his girlfriend while he is serving in Iraq. He finds his way back to Korea and gets a job as a bodyguard for Choi Yoo Jin, the owner of JSS Security and the wife of Jang Se Joon, who is running for president.

Review

An Action Hero but also establishes the fact that Strong Anti-Hero Females are a lasting trend

I saw some clips and action scenes of ‘The K2’ on YouTube and became interested in the show. I finished the show within a span of 1.5 days with ample sleep ofcourse. I have to say this is the most action packed K-drama I have seen thus far (DOTS, following second). I wanted to find out why the show is called K2, what is the significance. 15 mins into the drama and there is some punch packed action. My hopes rose, seeing how well it was choreographed. It’s safe to say the action didn’t disappoint and you find it packed around pretty much the whole drama. Although, the excessive pause made it unrealistic to some extent and fast pace of camera sometimes made it hard to follow through. I had to go back a few seconds sometimes to know what happened. The background music and ending credit song caught my attention from the first go. I searched out for it and found it was the main theme for the drama, furthermore the words that I wasn’t able to grasp (other than all of the dialogues in Korean) were in German. The words had a lot of meaning attached to the story and for a Kdrama having a ost composed in German was much surprising (my initial guess was spanish since that’s where the story began). To tell you the truth, it’s absolutely catchy and is still ringing in my ears. Most of the ost is instrumental and pretty good depicting the mood of the story. Soft for emotional scenes and thriller for suspense or action. Few episodes into it and you could guess with the main theme playing that you will witness some action or dynamic transition in plot. Coming to the story, it is not something entirely new to the universe. An agent (Kim Jeha) like no other, suffered a tradegy, gone rogue, fighting against the world but still being good and fair to the innocent. He fights for the right, wants revenge and along the way encounters love (Go Anna). However, the intricacies are what makes these stories and characters a bit more unique. It’s always interesting to watch these kinds of stories roll out every time. (Action with a purpose, as I call them are a favorite genre of mine). There are some things I absolutely loved about the drama. If there was a damsel in distress it wasn’t without a strong antagonist and that too a female (Choi Yoo Jin). Not often do we see this gender being given so much authority and control to move the story. I loved the character of Choi Yoo Jin even though she was evil, very evil but there was something about her that made her vulnerable and deserving of bit sympathy. Amazing acting by Song Yoon-ah, she ruled the show for me. She has so many layers and ultimately turns out to not so bad a character. Infact, she is better off than likes of Mr. Jang (father of Go Anna). I wanted to like this character, giving reasons for his shitty behavior of a playboy or towards his own daughter (he still loves her mother, he is trying to protect his own daughter) but even after his whole sacrifice at the end I haven’t been able to like him. I understand that his political career was the only thing he had left and it was to avenge his love. But you need to draw a line and not hurt and put the only thing you could possibly love through danger and much emotional turmoil again and again. The character of Go Anna played by Im Yoon-ah is much in controversy. Some say her acting isn’t as strong as her kpop gig, some say she doesn’t compliment well with Ji Chan Wook and there is no chemistry, others say she has improved a lot. Well I have nothing to compare her with, neither her past works nor many actresses. I honestly found her acting well according to the role given to her. I felt the role demanded of her to show less emotions, to act aloof. I felt the sparks between Go Anna and Kim Jeha but I wish they burnt like fire, I wish for more scenes where the chemistry could be explored more. Nevertheless, it was great. I also enjoyed the love traingle between Kim Jeha, Go Anna and Choi Yoo Jin. It touched upon a restricted topic of older woman loving a young guy. From the first go I felt that Choi Yoo Jin started liking Kim Jeha but

it wasn’t very clear, the show makers deliberately kept it that way I guess and I loved it. The way she should stood strong, caught hold of her feelings amidst her goals and also the way she unfolded and exposed herself to Jeha. Coming to the titular character, Ji Chang Wook, he has done some amazing work. It was my first drama of Ji Chang Wook. I am completely mesmerised by his ability to induce intensity and comedy equally well into the scene. He has performed some amazing action and was truly the wolf of show. Few of my favourite scenes include the inital fight scene (episode 1), the car chase with Kim Jeha and Yoo Jin (episode 2), bathroom fight (episode 3), taking Anna to infirmary (episode 7), euroem and ding (episode 8), how Kim Jeha looks at Anna through CCTV and then his eye shades episode, all the tiny details make your heart melt, the ending (episode 16) and choi yoo jin’s role in it, she was literally the queen of the forest! After finishing the show, it was difficult for me to imagine any korean actor that I famously know of other than Ji Chang Wook to play K2. He has done sweet justice to his role. The drama kept me engrossed throughout and due to the suspense attached I was constantly on my feet. The only disappointment I have from the show is not being able to K2’s real name. The whole soundtrack of the show is so so good it be enough to make you want to watch the show. I love the soundtrack of the show so much that I usually have it playing on repeat. All in all, I love the show a lot and I do keep coming back to it. Why Watch it? - If you are looking for an action packed Kdrama - If you are a Ji Chang Wook fan - If you are a Im Yoon-ah fan - If you are a Song Yoon-ah fan, trust me she’s too good in this - If you like action entangled with romance and suspense - Amazing Ost - If you like female anti-heros who move the story forward

Anti-vaxxers of dubious origin apparently are trying to bribe YouTube influencers to spread disinformation about vaccinations. To their enduring credit, the YouTubers exposed the plot instead of taking the money.

You’ll never guess which country may have been behind this attempt to keep the pandemic going.  /sarcasm

An influencer marketing agency called Fazze offered to pay him to promote what it said was leaked information that suggested the death rate among people who had the Pfizer vaccine was almost three times that of the AstraZeneca jab.

The information provided wasn't true.

Fazze is a part of AdNow, which is a digital marketing company, registered in both Russia and the UK.

The BBC has made multiple attempts to contact AdNow by phone, email and even a letter couriered to their Moscow headquarters, but they have not responded.

Eventually we managed to contact Ewan Tolladay, one of two directors of the British arm of AdNow - who lives in Durham.

Mr Tolladay said he had very little to do with Fazze - which he said was a joint venture between his fellow director - a Russian man called Stanislav Fesenko - and another person whose identity he didn't know.

He said that he hadn't been a part of the disinformation campaign. He said he hadn't even known Fazze had taken on the contract before the story broke. He couldn't enlighten us on who the mystery client was.

He said that in light of the scandal  "we are doing the responsible thing and shutting down AdNow here in the UK". He said Fazze was also being shut down.

We have tried to get Mr Fesenko to talk to us but had no success.

Yep, this is possibly another attempt by Putin’s Russia to destabilize the West. And it is a particularly clumsy and counterproductive attempt because viruses do not observe international borders. If future vaccine-resistant variants develop because a lot of people remain unvaccinated, those variants will inevitably spread to Russia – even to Putin’s Palace.

At the very least, this was an effort to undermine the Pfizer vaccine in order to make the less effective Russian-made Sputnik vaccine look good.

So MERCI! to French YouTuber Léo Grasset and DANKE! to German YouTuber Mirko Drotschmann for refusing the tainted money and exposing the plot. They probably saved lives and kept people from becoming seriously ill.

a brief list of random dreams i’ve had during the past year

- i was hunting rabbits. I shot them with rusty nails and when i killed one i didn’t do anything to it, just took the nail and left the animal there.

- this one finnish youtuber murdered a child by pushing them off a roof

- i was in taco bell and there was a horse for sale. I bought it but then i realized that i don’t know anything about horses and i don’t even like them so i let the animal go

- there was a deadly brain virus pandemic and a british doctor came up with a cure. the cure was basically a lobotomy but they drilled a whole ass digging bar into the patients’ brains. it did cure the virus but every patient died in like two days due to the side effects of the treatment. this didn’t stop people, though, so everyone still wanted to get the cure for the virus.

- i was playing skyrim and i had to find geralt of rivia’s body parts from a forest that had burned down for some reason. suddenly i found an underwater cave and there was a stone talus from botw. i ran away from it and ended up on a german airport that was also a hospital.

- i was in the world of stardew valley and i was stuck in a cave. i spent nine years in there because of some anthro bulls that wouldn’t let me out. in the end i found a secret tunnel that had lots of spiders and i killed them with a scythe.

- i had a new puppy but it looked like a raisin (and it was also the same size) and i kept her in an envelope.

- me and my s/o died in animal crossing and we went to different hells because we had different fruit on our islands.

- there was a new trend called “blood veganism” and it was basically the same as the normal veganism but raw deer meat was allowed.

- i was in cottage in a place that kinda looked like the käsivarsi wilderness area of finland. i was offered crepes and something called bean cake that was basically a random pile of even more random food stuff and there was an unopened energy drink can on the top.

- trump was in an escape room game with the president of finland and he was so fucking stupid

Hiiiiii! I’m really sorry for how long this took me, but I wanted to make sure I had plenty. Also, here’s a link to the original list, since it’s been A Minute oof. Most of all, THANK YOU!!!! You’re the amazing one anon!

As for what got me into the ship, it was seeing cool ship art/fics on Tumblr and also just the dynamics that it has. The fact that they’re best friends. The way that they’re kind of the parental friends and leaders of the egos as a whole, and the way they sort of lean on and depend on each other in that regard, and as actual fathers. The way they’ve been through a lot of the same things and can understand each other better than anyone else. :)

Anyway, here are the hcs finally:

-It’s Pride month; please consider the fact that they have five kids and are therefore a family of 7 and then consider a Pride month photo for Chase’s insta where each person is wearing a different color shirt so they make a rainbow together

-Also I just need cute family insta pics in general. May I suggest ‘how many family members can Henrik hold up at once?’ Chase on one hip (taking the picture), one kid on another, one kid on his back, one kid on Chase’s back, maybe one hanging on the front, etc,

-Chase definitely tries to learn to make some German dishes, and Henrik’s always so incredibly grateful for some old favs he hasn’t had in years. Though, it’s always a toss up on what’s his favorite part: eating the delicious food, or listening to Chase try to pronounce the name of it

-Henrik wears a watch every day, not a smartwatch like Chase’s, a classic analog one, bc he’s a doctor and he needs one. Chase likes when he’s wrapped up in Henrik’s arms and he can hear the soft ticking noise. Also, one night Henrik starts to fall asleep before he takes it off and he feels Chase gently pick up his hand, take it off for him, and give the inside of his wrist a lil kiss and now he ‘forgets’ to take it off all the time. Also also, Chase probably gets him a nice new watch for a birthday/xmas/anniversary at some point so that one’s extra special :)

-Chase looks so, so cute in denim shorts, esp ones w/ a lil cuff at the bottom. Henrik says it should be illegal. Bonus points if they’re overalls.

-They like to go grocery shopping together when they can - they’re a couple that always has fun together no matter what they’re doing, so even though they get some weird looks for being loud and occasionally literally running around the store as two grown-ass men, they love doing errands together. They ALWAYS do Costco runs together, too, that’s not even optional that’s sacred. They like strolling along trying all the free samples while buying mac and cheese in bulk to feed their many children. Marvin highkey judges when Chase says their fave thing to do on a date is ‘Costco’ but he’s just a h8er. 

-Henrik does this thing where if they get food from a restaurant and he tries something new & it’s really good, he immediately breaks off a piece or holds out his fork for Chase to try it too, without even thinking about it 

-Whenever any sort of arts n crafts trend is happening on the internet Chase likes to try it w/ the kiddos so there’s lots of funky cool art all over their house

-They would absolutely get married; marriage is super important to Chase. But I can’t see them having a very fancy wedding. It would probably be in their backyard, or maybe on the beach where they go as a family, and it would just be the kids and the other egos

-Chase’s subscribers calling them schneeplebro, and making compilation vids like ‘schneeplebro funniest moments,’ ‘schneeplebro being disgustingly in love for 13 minutes,’ ‘schneeplebro being the best dads for 15 mins straight’

-Honestly Henrik’s weird sense of humor gets to shine in Chase’s videos. Always telling those jokes he loves about tax evasion & not being a real doctor, which gets even funnier bc every now and then he gets a patient who actually watches the channel. Imagine meeting the guy who’s gonna do surgery on you and it’s your fave youtuber’s partner who always jokes about not being licensed and getting sued for malpractice kfjkdjfkadkfj

-Listen, I see y’all with your ‘Henrik took ballroom dance/waltz lessons as a kid’ headcanons. I love them & I love you but just once I want the two of them to be talking about dancing and for Chase to say, ‘well, when you took dance lessons in school -’ and Henrik to be like ‘Do you know I’m from Germany and not 1947? I had a PlayStation.’

-He’s just still salty from the time they were talking about jobs they’ve had and he told Chase he worked at McDonald’s the summer after he graduated high school to which Chase asked completely sincerely, ‘They had McDonald’s in Germany back then?’ “It was 2004, Chase.”

-I so badly. So badly. Want a schneeplebro mug collection video. You know between Henrik’s coffee addiction and Chase’s tea addiction they have like at least two full cabinets. Imagine all the cute/silly ones they buy for each other

-Henrik has a pretty good singing voice but usually will only sing to the kids. ‘Bingo was his name-o’  absolutely going off. But sometimes, he can be convinced to sing to Chase

-The other scenario in which he’ll sing is when he’s drunk, and Chase has an entire spotify playlist called ‘all men do is lie’ which is full of nothing but songs that Henrik once claimed not to know/like but then magically knew all the words to after about five drinks

-Chase likes to be picked up and gets so happy when Henrik gets home from work and lifts him up w/ a big hug or scoops him up while they’re kissing :)

-In terms of them getting a dog like I mentioned in the last list, I think it would be one of those things where for a long time if anyone ever asked them about it they’d be like ‘well, maybe someday, but we’d have to do a lot of research about what the best breed for our family would be and then start looking at where to adopt from so yeah we don’t know’ until one day they’re just like ‘we found a dog in our neighborhood and couldn’t find his owners so we have a dog now. he is a mutt and he eats garbage. we love him dearly.’

-Sometimes Henrik will make tea and bring it to Chase bc he’s downstairs and he can hear Chase pacing above him

-Henrik has very thick hair and loves when Chase plays with it or runs his fingers through it

-Family movie nights, especially when they can find a movie or series they all wanna watch. At one point there’s a family disagreement about what the best Pixar movie is the best, so they decide they just have to spend a long weekend marathoning every pixar movie ever made in release order and hold a debate at the end. Nobody wins but they all have a great time.

Hey sorry if this is a dumb question but who is Joey Ryan? I just recently started watching wrestling + don't think I've heard mention of them before?

Not a dumb question at all honey, don't worry!

Joey ryan was a wrestler whose gimmick was "sleazy '70 man (pornstar) whose dick is his greatest weapon". Many of his moves were centered about that and he had other weirdly uncomfortable looking moves (ex. The booblex. A german suplex where he'd grab the opponent chest, and yes, he'd do this to women too). He organized various promotions and was part of several indie wrestling organizations.

Turns out, the gimmick was not just a gimmick but it also reflected in his real life habits: in June 2020 many women in the so called #speakingout movement (you can find info in the tag even on here, it was a trend that was created to denounce sexual assaults and misconducts in the wrestling industry) came forward with accusations against him, saying he assaulted them and worse. After this, he fell off the face of the Earth for a while, only to come back with a very shitty video that tried to justify his behaviour and "apologized" to his victims (however it was a classic "youtube apology", you know, the ones that feel fake as fuck?).

But that is not the end of it! Apparently, seeing as the YouTube video wasn't enough to revive his more than dead career, he's trying to sue those who accused him, which is fucking bonkers and just a way for him to silence them.
