I was wondering if you would write Clarisse larue x daughter of Hecate headcannons??
⇢ ˗ˏˋ clarisse la rue x hecate!daughter ࿐ྂ
a/n: okay so there is a full fledged fic coming of this but i just thought this would be cute for some general clarisse x hecate!daughter!reader content bc i love writing headcanons
okay so first thing's first, this pairing is the definition of opposite's attract
clarisse is just such an intense person, and hecate kiddos are like, famously chill
you probably fell for clarisse first, from afar, because hecate kids and ares kids don't generally run in the same circles
like there's no bad blood or anything, they just aren't very alike so they don't usually hangout
once clarisse did notice you, the two of you started hanging out pretty frequently
there was a period where you both had heart eyes whenever you were near each other, but were both convinced that the other would never like one, and so you were both just practically prancing around each other, doing your best to hide your feelings
(and not really succeeding)
this period was pretty much hell for all of your friends
because the two of you would rave to your mutual friends when the other wasn't there about how much you like each other, and they would just have to sit there and internally scream and hope that you two get together soon
you probably found out when someone accidentally let it slip that you two like each other
after a very long, heartfelt conversation, the two of you were officially dating!
now for the dynamic of your relationship!
clarisse is extremely protective over you
if anyone even looks at you wrong, she's there defending you
you find this really romantic, but sometimes it can get overwhelming because you don't love confrontation, and she does, so sometimes you just want her to leave the situation alone
she can usually tell when you're in this mood, so the two of you just leave the situation before clarisse can get more heated
you're one of the only people that can really calm clarisse down
as previously aforementioned, she's a very intense person, and gets really intense emotions that she doesn't really know how to deal with them, which is something you can help with
just being in your presence calms clarisse down
going back to the protectiveness thing randomly, clarisse always makes sure that hecate cabin is on the same team as ares cabin, and even though everyone knows it's so she can protect you, everyone pretends they don't know
hecate kids obviously participate in capture the flag but they're not the most helpful
so you're not all that bothered when clarisse takes you to a nice, safe place in the woods where she hunts around you to make sure that nobody gets close to you
one time someone from the blue team managed to snag you as a prisoner for the red team, and when clarisse found out she went on a literal rampage
chiron had to step in and tell clarisse to calm down
when blue team finally released you, clarisse just held onto your hand with a really angry look on her face
when you two were alone she finally expressed how nervous she'd been
another big thing to mention: you are clarisse's biggest weakness
she loves and cares about you so much, and as much as she tries to hide it, she kinda can't, so she knows that if anyone were ever trying to get to her, they would go to you first, and she really hates that
there was a time in the beginning of your relationship when clarisse tried to break it off, saying that it wouldn't be safe
and you reminded her that you are also a demigod, and just existing as a demigod isn't safe, so she'd better just get over it
she did, and now the two of you are still together and happy!
clarisse tries to pretend like she has some independence from you, but everyone knows that she doesn't
clarisse gets even more irritable during the winter months because she can't see you everyday like she can during the summer when you're both at camp
clarisse is a year rounder camper, but you aren't, so she always tries to get you to come back for weekends and school breaks
you're always giving clarisse different crystals to help with different things
one of the first things you gave her was a rose quartz necklace, and she practically never takes it off
she rarely ever takes it out from under her shirt because again, she's paranoid about the whole thing of you being her biggest weakness
but it's always there, and she sometimes can be seen holding tightly to it when in tense situations and/or nervous about something
she thinks of it as somewhat of a tether to your love
which sounds cheesy, so don't ever tell anyone clarisse told you that
or else
(she says jokingly)
clarisse is a very touchy partner
she likes to act like she isn't, because she's all tough or whatever
and wanting to be hugged and cuddled every once in a while means that she isn't tough apparently
you've told her a million times this isn't true, but she doesn't believe you
sometimes the two of you will cuddle in front of the campfire, and clarisse is always hesitant because there's so many people around, but all you have to do is bat your eyelashes (and occasionally make grabby hands if she's feeling more stubborn) and then she's there, cuddling with you
when the two of you are alone though... oh my god she will not stop touching you
if you like get up to go to the bathroom she starts complaining immediately about how the two of you were all warm and comfortable and then you had to go and ruin it
she shuts up when you come back though
when you brought clarisse home to meet your mortal parent... let's just say it was an entertaining day
clarisse likes to present herself as a very put together person, and that not much can shake her
but oh dear gods
you're sure that you've never seen her look more nervous than on the way to your mortal parent's house
like sweating and stammering and acting soooo nervous
she wants to make a really good impression, but kinda believes that she can't
it doesn't help that you kiss her in front of your front door to help calm her down, and THAT'S when your parent opens the door
she actually does end up making a good impression, but she still leaves thinking it went horribly
it probably would take a lot of convincing for clarisse to introduce you to her mom, if she ever does, because the two of them aren't on the best terms
basically, the two of you are so freaking in love it kinda disgusts your friends, but it's better now than it was when the two of you were pretending you didn't like each other
thank you so much for reading! there wasn't a lot in this abt the hecate!daughter thing it was basically just dating clarisse headcanons so i apologize for that but i am open to doing a part 2!

obsessed
leo valdez x daughter of hecate reader
a/n: calypso is nice in this one, reader is vv insecure (self-projecting lol), also ending was kinda rushed bc i didn't know how to finish it, also not proofread :)
song: obsessed - olivia rodrigo
(calypso is a pisces for the plot)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
La-da-da-da, da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da La-da-da-da, da-da-da
when leo and calypso broke up, the entirety of camp half-blood was flabbergasted. why wouldn't they be? leo had literally sworn on the river styx for calypso, dying and resurrecting for her then rescuing from her cursed island. the perfect couple.
however, what camp half-blood didn't know was the reason behind the breakup: you. while leo did truly like calypso, deep down, he always knew that you, his best friend, had a special place in his heart.
after leo and you got together officially, rumours starting spiralling about how you'd used 'black magic' to capture leo's love and the matching sun and moon necklaces that you two always wore was cursed or something??? you'd always thought these rumours were ridiculous; you'd literally gotten him the necklace before he'd even known calypso.
Cause I know her star sign, I know her blood type I've seen every movie she's been in and, oh god, she's beautiful
but naturally, although you'd never admit it, you were insecure. calypso was smart, funny and beautiful. she was a goddess for gods sake. you tried to push those negative thoughts down, the thoughts that fed the growing monster that was jealousy inside of you. you were obsessed with her.
you literally had a star sign chart featuring her and leo's signs and their compatibility rates. they were so compatible, perfect for each other. being a daughter of hecate and all, you took these things very seriously. but you could never let leo know. what would he think of you then? you didn't want to lose him more. so everytime he would hangout with you in your cabin, you made sure to cast the Mist over your charts, disguising them or making them appear as though they were nothing.
She's talented, she's good with kids She even speaks kindly about me, ha-huh
hoping to break the good girl image everyone had of her, you always dreamed of catching her slipping up and badmouthing you.
like right now.
you'd been heading back to your cabin after dinner when you heard the voices of Calypso and her friends. you were ready to stear clear and hopefully go around them without catching attention but as you neared them, you realised they were talking about you???
you quickly shrouded yourself in the Mist and crept closer. eavesdropping probably wasn't the best idea but you were determined to prove that she wasn't the good girl everyone thought she was.
"girl, have you seen leo's new girlfriend?" you heard one of her friends snicker. your heart picked up its pace and your ears strained to hear more.
"there's no way he'd rather be with a witch than you calypso, who in their right mind would do that?"
your heart plummeted when you heard calypso sigh, "guys, i've moved on, leo's moved on so there's really no point in badmouthing y/n. also, she is one of the sweetest people ive met. please don't think so lowly of her."
needless to say, you slunk ashamedly back to your cabin.
But I can't help it, I got issues, I can't help it, baby
you couldn't sleep.
couldn't stop comparing yourself to her, couldn't stop doubting why leo could possibly leave her for u.
they were perfect together, like warm flames embracing the smoldering logs in a fireplace on a cold winter's day. but you? you were nothing. you were like the useless mantelpiece above the fireplace, watching on as the flames danced to their full potential.
so you decided it would be best to break up with him
coming to a cold, hard conclusion, you swung yourself out of bed and out of your cabin, and headed towards bunker 9, where undoubtedly, your hardworking boyfriend would be slaving away at the forges.
upon hearing you arrive, leo dropped his work with a clatter and pushed his hair out of his eyes. "baby!" he sang, making his way towards you. "look what i - "
"leo," you interrupted. he looked so excited, eyes brimming with love and enthusiasm, looking at you like were the most beautiful piece of art in the world. you almost stopped yourself from saying your next words but - "leo, i want to break up"
he came to a halt before you. "w-what? did i do something wrong? i'll fix it please, please, please don't do this. just tell me what's wrong? i love you baby please."
you could feel your heart shatter at the sight before you. eyes wide with uncertainty and face full of confusion, the upset on leo's face made you want to turn back time take back your words.
"leo, im so sorry. i love you so much too but, i'm so obsessed with your ex. i feel like a fucking creep! i can't help but think that we're not meant to be and calypso is perfect for you." you managed, chest aching, desperate for something to hold onto, to cling onto. "you're wasting your time on me. i'm not worth it."
"aww baby," leo pulled his arms around you. you sobbed into his shoulder, not caring about how dirty your pajamas were going to be after this. "baby, please don't think like that. you're my forever girl. my one in a million lifetimes. and i love you for you."
you sobbed harder and leo's grip on you tightened. "mi vida, i swear on the river styx that i will try my hardest for you to never ever feel this way again. just promise me that you'll stay with me. i'll love only you, baby. promise."
and he kept it till his very last breath.

All I Feel is You
Percy Jackson x Reader summary: Being a daughter of Hecate means having a lot of strengths, however you are not invincible and people often seem to forget that, with the exception of a certain sea-green-eyed boy
a/n: was this requested? no. did is still decide to make this? obviously. i've been meaning to write for percy for a while, so here it is. i hope you enjoy. also, i have this hc that hecate only has daughters. let me know what you think! <3
Tumblr media
Being a daughter of Hecate had its perks. For instance, you were doted in the ways of medicine, much like the Apollo kids, you complimented each other in that way. Their powers diminished at night, while yours grew stronger and viceversa. Your magic covered various areas, those including earth, heavens and oceans as well as your specialty: shape shifting. Having such a wide range of domain, Hecate kids were often asked for favors and help around camp. It was needless to say that Hecate kids were a beloved asset around camp.
Sometimes, you took privilege in these favors, and asked Chiron for certain liberties, like skipping a lesson or activity. Or even being able to stay out past curfew, (without any of the other campers knowing, of course).
As of right now, you were using one of your ‘favor passes’ as you liked to call them, as you sat out in the Delphi’s Strawberry Fields, allowing the cool summer breeze blow through your hair. Your shoes had been discarded so that you could dig your toes in the soil.
The Battle of Manhattan had taken place a few days ago, and people were still mourning the loss of their loved ones. You were no indifferent to loss, you had lost some of your sisters, and while you would love to be mourning with the ones that remained, it was better for you to do it alone.
Being a daughter of Hecate had its perks, however, being a daughter of Hecate brought complicated feelings in times like this. Being a daughter of Hecate meant you could see and feel other people’s ‘magic’, something that mortals knew as ‘aura’. And during the aftermath of the Battle, there wasn’t a surplus of beautiful magic. A somber atmosphere covered the camp, and while it never completely left, it seemed to dissipate at night. Maybe it was the cruelness of hope that manifested itself in dreams, giving people a brief moment of contentment, as they fantasized that their loved ones hadn’t been lost, and that when they woke up, everything would still be like it was a few days prior.
Amidst your contemplation, the sound of rustling leaves could be heard. You knew who it was, he was the only person that ever came out here at night. Mostly because he didn’t care for the curfew.
He didn’t say anything, he just sat next to you and stared up at the stars.
“How are you doing?” you asked after a few minutes of silence.
“I am,” Percy replied.
“I think that’s what we all are,” you said.
Silence once again.
“You’re not looking at the stars tonight,” he said.
“It’s hard right now. Especially tonight, or any other night since it happened.”
You both didn’t dare to say exactly what happened. It was in the past as of right now, and maybe in the future it would become a part of the present, so that it didn’t repeat itself. But as of right now, it was too hard to bear.
“Would you like to talk about it?”
You sighed and brought your knees up to your chest, “I guess it just feels wrong. I think they are my stars tonight, I have to look at them just in case they crash and burn. It’s been rough for all of us.”
Percy nodded. He might not understand you completely, but that was what your relationship with him was like. He was there for you no matter what, and most of the time you comprehended each other without even talking, and when you didn’t being with each other was enough.
For the first time since he joined you, you looked at him. His aura contained a little blue, however it faded into grey as it progressed towards the edges. You stared at him, analyzing the change in color that his magic had had these past days.
“You can stop lookin at my jello, or whatever you call it.”
“Jello is a new one. You’re getting creative with the names. Care to explain it?”
“It’s because I’m in it, and it’s kind of like I’m suspended inside. Or that’s what I imagine it looks like to you at least.”
“That would make you jello too.”
“I think being jello would be fun.”
His magic flickered for an instance, tinting itself in a light shade of orange and yellow. You smiled before looking back at the camp.
“I wish I could see your magic,” Percy said.
“Trust me, you don’t.”
“I just wish I could do the same for you that you do for me.”
You chuckled, the sound came out more bitter than you had intended, “That’s a burden me and my sisters bare. Mom had to find a way to balance out all the perks.”
Percy stared at you, “I may not be able to see magic Y/N. But some other things are clear to see, you can let go, just for a while if you’d like to, we can even stay here forever if that’s what you need.”
You tried. You really tried to remain silent, but as you listened to him a choked sob escaped your throat. Someone with your ability was usually in charge of comforting everyone, you were supposed to even take in those negative emotions, however, you never realized the toll it was taking on you until it was too late.
Percy scooted closer to you and wrapped his arms around you as he cradled your body. He led your head up to his chest and comfortingly ran his calloused hands along your back. He didn’t say anything, he just allowed you to let out everything you had been holding on to up until now.
“I’m- I’m so- sorry,” you said in between sobs.
Percy shushed you and kept on rubbing your back, “You don’t have to apologize. You’re safe here.”
And you truly believed him, you allowed yourself to completely let go while in his arms. Amidst a world full of chaos you could always count on the sea-green-eyed boy to bring you comfort. Even when the world had collapsed, your home was still standing as long as he was.
Percy watches as you relaxed in his arms, you let loose, and something wonderful happened. He saw as a soft colorful light emanated from you. It started with a bright pink and faded into indigo. He smiled and whispered a soft ‘thank you’. He knew you wouldn’t be able to hear it, but you would feel it, just as he felt you.

Werewolves, Beetles, Kneazles, Demigods, and Gods, oh my!
Tumblr media
AN: This is a continuation of this fic here! Thank you to @sinsiriuslyemo for her lovely words on my Remus Lupin drabble. If any of you are interested, I do have another fic where the reader is a demigod in the Harry Potter universe. It's called Discovering the Past and it's available on AO3. In that universe, the reader is a daughter of Demeter and while the final pairing will be Severus Snape and the reader - there will be some soft platonic moments between Sirius, Remus, and the reader.
Warnings: canon typical behaviours and attitudes, a hint of violence, and a steamy moment between Remus and the reader.
“Look here, little girl,” Rita Skeeter sneered distastefully across the table at Hermione.  “You don’t have the power to make me stop advocating for a Marriage Law and for a more suitable partner for (Name).”  She stirred her tea, “As the daughter of the King of the Heavens, she deserves the best that the Wizarding World can offer her.”
Hermione drew her wand and pointed it at Rita underneath the table, fully intending to use the forced Animagus transformation spell that she had been practicing at night at Hogwarts.
“Hermione may not have the power to make you stop, but I do.”
The Three Broomsticks went deathly silent; everyone in the pub seemed to be holding their breath.
“Lady Hecate!  You honour us with your presence!”  Rita uttered breathily.
Hermione remained silent.  “What do you say to a goddess?”  She wondered.  Nothing that came to her mind sounded sincere enough.  She kept her wand pointed at Rita just in case.
As the goddess drew to their table, Hermione felt the goddess’ power.  At first glance, Hecate appeared to be a normal citizen of Magical Britain but the longer the goddess remained in front of them, the more Hermione felt her power.  Hermione’s heart thumped erratically as the realisation dawned on her that since all of Wizarding Britain was Hecate’s creation, Hecate would know that Hermione was pointing her wand underneath the table at Rita.
Hermione figured the only thing she could do now was to point her wand at Rita above the table.  Rita flinched as soon as she registered Hermione’s movement.
“I would much rather stunned, awed silence than false flattery.  You have nothing to fear from Rita, put your wand away Hermione.”
Hermione’s hand tightened on the hilt of her wand but she complied with the goddess’ command.
“I had intended to arrive earlier but while I was here, I decided to tie up a few loose ends. None of Wizarding Britain has anything to fear from Voldemort or his supporters any longer.  Speaking of my reason for being here: anyone who attempts to interfere with Remus Lupin and (Name) (Surname)’s relationship will answer to me.”  Hecate stated evenly.
“But-”
“Silence!” Hecate commanded, slashing a hand through the air.  “For too long I have allowed you to run roughshod in my world.”  The goddess clicked her fingers, “As of now, you have been registered as an Animagus.  Everyone will know your scuttling form and you will face an unbiased Wizengamot to answer for the scandals and crimes you perpetuated due to your unauthorised methods of gaining information.”
Rita gulped as the patrons of the bar turned around in unison and glared at her.
“It is time to return to Hogwarts, Hermione,” Hecate ordered in a far gentler tone.  “You have my thanks and admiration for your willingness to protect a member of my family.”
Hermione swallowed nervously, “(Name) means a lot to me and many others.  Words cannot describe how much she loves Remus.”
“Go to Hogwarts Hermione.”  Hecate ordered again.  “I will not have you witness what is about to happen.”
This time, Hermione heeded the goddess’ words and returned to Hogwarts.  As she climbed into Gryffindor Tower, a feeling of calm washed over her and she knew that somehow, everything was going to be all right.
*Extended ending*
“I should be worshipping you,” Remus gasped out in between sighs of pleasure, pleas for more and breathy curses.  His hands gripped onto your hips as you ground down on his clothed erection and left wet kisses cross the expanse of his neck and bare chest.
Molly Weasley’s scream had the two of you jolting apart and fumbling for your wands.  You unlocked the bedroom door and dashed towards the lounge room.  It took you a minute to process what you were seeing.  In the lounge room Sirius was in his animagus form, wagging his tail.  His forelegs were bent and resting on the ground while his hindquarters were in the air.  You had seen his play bow before but what you hadn’t seen was him doing it to the medium sized kneazle that sat attentively in the middle of the room.
The kneazle mewed as soon as it spotted you and moved over to you on unsteady legs.  Your eyes scanned the room’s occupants.  You noticed Molly, a fully clothed Remus, the twins, Ron, and Harry standing off to the side before the kneazle scratched gently at your leg.
“Well, Hermione.  I guess this means Lady Hecate likes you.”
The kneazle purred as you scratched under her chin and looked up at you with a question in her eyes.
“Focus on what it feels like to be human.”  You instructed.
In her new form, Hermione retreated and closed her eyes.  Her kneazle form rippled and then it grew larger until she was once again human.  She shook her head from side to side before reopening her eyes.
“Am I an unregistered animagus?  How much trouble will I get into?”
“I doubt Lady Hecate would have put you in a position where you would be facing serious consequences since you haven’t offended her.  We will still check the Animagus Registry.  If it helps, no one in Magical Britain is going to risk Lady Hecate’s wrath by interrogating you about your new ability; there were too many witnesses in the Three Broomsticks two weeks ago.”  You placated the teen.
“Wicked!”  Fred and George gasped in unison, “We are going to have so much fun with this.”

Jason x Daughter of Hecate
Jason and reader slowly falling in love but Jason is with Piper
ooo interesting okay let's do this
--------------------------------------
"You're sparkling again."
I shook my head, self-consciously grabbing at the sparks flitting around my head. "Shut up, I can't help it."
My sister, Julia, rolled her eyes. "Get it under control, you know you don't have a chance."
Across the arena, Jason sat with his girlfriend, Piper, arm round her shoulders and her head on his. She pressed a kiss to his cheek and my heart squeezed painfully.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." I hated it but Piper was so lovely, always friendly when we'd spoken. I had the uncomfortable feeling that she knew about my crush on her boyfriend- Aphrodite magic, probably. Maybe just girlfriend intuition. "Doesn't mean I can't appreciate the view." I winked at Julia who lightly smacked my arm.
"Behave, he's looking over."
My eyes flicked back to Jason, who was waving a hello. Piper, too.
I waved back, smiling easily as I matched him. Gods, he looked so good on clear days. Not that he didn't look good other days, there was just something special about days when you could see the sky clearly and the air was fresh. Oh, I had it bad.
***
A few days later, I was practicing archery. Something that required my focus, couldn't get distracted.
"Hey!"
My arrow went wide, thudding into a tree rather than the target. I spun round. "Jason, what the fuck?"
He held his hands up in surrender. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't think you'd immediately let go of the shot."
I rolled my eyes, but grinned. "You could at least have guided it to the target."
Jason handed me another arrow from my quiver on the floor. "Okay, shoot it and I'll make it up to you."
I raised an eyebrow, but accepted the arrow when he wiggled it. Setting up the shot, I became acutely aware of him when he stepped up just by my side, hand outstretched.
"Whatcha doing there, Jas?"
"Easier to see the bullseye when I'm more in front of it, this okay?"
I swallowed, pushing down the thought that I could feel how warm he was. "Yep, all good, let's go, teamwork."
Trying to aim as best I could, I let the arrow fly. There was the barest breeze that brushed my arm from Jason's outstretched hand, and the arrow landed solidly in the bullseye.
"Teamwork!" He nudged my shoulder. "Am I forgiven?"
***
The campfire was low, most of the younger campers were asleep. I was playing with some ribbons of magic, twirling pink and purple around my fingers.
Someone sat down beside me.
I sighed. "Where were you?"
Jason shifted on the bench, looking down. "I'm sorry, Piper and I got into an argument, I didn't want to leave in the middle of a fight."
I hated that I didn't blame him. He was with his girlfriend, that made sense. He didn't want to leave in the middle of a fight, that also made sense.
Didn't mean I wasn't pissed off that he'd left me sitting by myself when he promised he'd go to the campfire with me. A small thing, maybe, but I hadn't seen him much the last week, and even if I couldn't be with him I still wanted to hang out with him.
I loved him.
"What was the fight about?"
Jason sighed, dragging a hand down his face. "Uh, Piper... she thinks you... like me, or something. Like, like like me. I told her you didn't, but she said she just knew."
I was frozen beside him. "...Oh yeah? She knew, huh?"
"What- what do you mean?" Jason turned so he was facing me. I stared adamantly into the smouldering fire. My magic ribbons were knotting themselves into loops, twisting comfortingly around my arm.
"Um, she's not wrong, you know." Natural sources of light, like candles, make people open up. That's why we have candles in the cabin, I recited in my head. That's the only reason I told him. Not because this may be my chance. Maybe. "I'm pretty obvious, Jas. Jules has been smacking me every time she caught me staring at you."
Jason was silent, but I could feel his eyes locked on me. Shit, what did I just do? He was still with Piper, they just had a fight, just because I like him doesn't mean he likes me, have I just cost myself one of my closest friendships because I couldn't keep my mouth shut?
"...She also said I liked you." Jason whispered. I moved not a muscle. "She wasn't... angry. She said it kind of resigned, like she'd already given up."
Weird way for a fight to go. I said nothing.
"I was sure you didn't like me, but I couldn't... I couldn't do her the disrespect of lying to her face." Jason's hands were clasped together, a sign of stress. It was weirdly endearing. "Because I do. Like you, I mean. Like, a lot. I loved Piper, I did, I do. But we keep getting into petty arguments and we're more distant than ever and I keep wanting to go to you but I can't because I have a girlfriend and I would never, ever do that to Pipes."
I turned to Jason now, careful not to touch him in case I scared him off or sent him the wrong message.
"Jas, I know you wouldn't. She knows you wouldn't. She's, and I am somewhat loathe to say this, a lovely person. But she's right. I do like you." I gave a slight smile. "Like, like like you."
I got a small grin as I parroted his words back to him.
Jason nodded. "Okay, good to know."
I laughed gently. "'Good to know'? You gonna write that down for analysis or something?" I teased. He rolled his eyes and nudged my shoulder.
"Shut up, you know what I mean."
"Yeah," I murmured, allowing my face to soften and let my adoration be seen. "Yeah, I know."
Jason sighed. "Guess I've gotta talk to Piper, huh?"
I nodded. "Not tonight, Jas, both of you have to calm down from earlier." I shrugged. "The two of us don't have to happen until you're ready, okay?"
He gave me a genuine smile. "Yeah, yeah, okay." He stood, and looked down at me. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
I returned the smile and nodded, watching him walk off to the Zeus cabin. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon.
Someday soon.

“What the hell are you all doing?”
You had waited until nighttime for a reason, for the light of the full moon and hopefully some peace. You and your siblings looked up at the voice.
Xavier Bones was possibly the rudest and most self-centered person you had ever had the displeasure of meeting. His father was Ares, which made sense, seeing as he had a wicked temper and was strong as shit. Most of the kids from the Ares cabin could probably snap you like a stick if they wanted, but what scares you about Xavier is that he might actually do it.
He’s rude to everyone he sees, but he particularly has it out for the Aphrodite cabin. Just because Aphrodite kids didn’t have skill in battle like Ares kids, or aren’t wicked smart like Athena kids doesn’t mean they’re worthless. Xavier just didn’t understand anything except brute force.
He didn’t understand any other kind of power.
The whole reason you’re out here tonight is to finally finish the potion you’ve been making. Amokinesis was strictly a spoken sort of magic, and it was hard to do it to more than one person. But, you and your siblings had decided that maybe you could try and follow in the steps of sorceresses like Medea and Circe, using spelled objects and potions to execute your power. You had been collaborating with a Hecate kid for weeks now, learning everything you could about potion making until you were finally ready to try and make a simple truth potion- love and desire also opened the door to truth.
Aster, the daughter of Hecate who had been helping you, said it was a relatively easy first timer potion and hopefully with your Amokinesis it would come together.
You look up at Xavier, watching as he smiles in disbelief.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re trying to make some sort of love potion, huh?” He sits down at the picnic table, curiously leaning in to look at it.
“Get back,” Jackie, your sibling, hisses waving her hand at him so he’ll back up.
“Okay, okay,” he smiles, some glint in his eyes. He holds his hands up in mock surrender. “I’m just trying to figure out why you’re wasting all this time, seeing as it probably won’t work.”
“Shut up, Xavier,” you sighed. You needed this bad. You needed to prove to everyone that love wasn’t a stupid power. You were so sick of Xavier, of everyone and their treatment of the Aphrodite cabin. Jackie wanted so desperately to learn how to use a spear, but no one would pay enough attention to her.
You need this.
“I thought you guys were supposed to be nice?”
You opt to ignore him.
“Hm, okay, definitely not nice. Good thing I’m not either.”
He spits his gum out and drops it straight into the cauldron.
“Fucking bitch!” Jackie screams, Tyla looks like she’s about to cry, and the wooden spoon you’re holding in your hands is about to crack under the pressure.
The potion changes an odd color, a murky brown.
“Oops,” he says.
He laughs and walks away, and you faintly wonder what happened to him to make him so cruel.
—-
The next morning you’re all stewing silently at breakfast. Jackie is glaring daggers at the Ares table, Tyla is ranting about how you need to get all the ingredients again, and you’re trying to listen and join Jackie at staring maliciously.
“I’m gonna murder him, I think.”
“I’ll help,” you murmur, favoring staring at your hands instead of being caught staring at him.
“Do you think Clarisse will let me borrow her spear? How much would that sting, getting killed by one of your Dad’s weapons, huh?”
“She probably would,” Tyla mumbles. “She hates him too, ever since he beat her sparring.”
You resist the urge to scoff. You were there that day, and Xavier had played dirty.
They were sparring, she was winning, when he suddenly pointed behind her and shouted that Ares was there. Of course, everyone had turned to look, and he had disarmed her and kicked her down while she was distracted.
Of course, the next day he was walking around sporting a black eye, but Clarisse had never lived that day down. Xavier had never lived that down, either, exactly why they’re sitting on opposite ends of the table now.
Jackie stares off into the distance. She lets out a small laugh.
“I have a horrible idea.”
“What if we make Xavier fall in love with one of us, right?”
You and Tyla both gag.
“Wait, wait! But then we just lead him on, and maybe Clarisse will do us a favor and pretend to date-”
Tyla snorts. “She would never do that.”
You remember seeing the anger on her face that day. The rage, really, the betrayal. But you remember seeing the sadness too. A part of her had really thought Ares was gonna be there. You remember feeling so, so bad for her.
No one should deserve to feel like that, but it comes with the territory of being a demigod.
“It wouldn’t hurt to ask, right?”
Tyla and Jackie stare at you like you’ve just cursed out Hades.
“I’ll do it. Tyla, no offense, but I think you’d crack under the pressure. And Jacks, you would just start punching him.”
“Yeah,” Tyla murmurs.
“I would,” Jackie agrees.
“I mean, it might actually work.”
—-
You corner her the next day.
She’s outside her cabin, practicing some spear forms when you walk over to her. This is all moving so fast, but you can’t help the fact that revenge is so fun. Why wait when you can get it now?
Revenge is supposed to be served best cold, but you’ve always been a little too handsy, a little too greedy for your own good. You want revenge and you want it now.
“Clarisse, hi.” You smile, she spares you a glance and doesn’t say anything. “I’m Y/N, you don’t know me but I was wondering if I could ask you for a favor.”
The spear stops in mid air. She moves from a offensive position to a standing position, and she looks you up and down so painfully slow that you think your organs are gonna burst.
“What?”
“So, you know Xavier?” you sit down on the picnic bench behind you. “I’m sure you know him, and I’m sure you know that he’s an asshole. He ruined something me and my siblings were doing, and he’s been so rude to all Aphrodite kids for so long so, we just wanna get him back.
She squints at you. “How?”
“We’re gonna use our amokinesis to make him fall in love with me, then maybe, hopefully, we can fake date to make him lose his mind.”
She stares at you blankly for a second. Your heart drops, oh, Gods, you never should have done this.
You’re gonna be the laughingstock of camp.
“‘Cause, you know, you both hate each others guts. And if he’s in love with me, but then he sees you and me together- it was this whole thing about making him see the power of love, you know, ‘cause like-”
She grabs you by your cheeks, pinching your face together, your lips puffing out.
“You can stop rambling, now.” She smiles in a demeaning way, and you would feel insulted if the way she wasn’t gripping your face right now wasn’t addicting. “I actually think it’s a pretty great plan. Surprising, but, whatever.”
You ignore that.
“So, you’ll do it?”
“When are you gonna spell him?”
“As soon as possible, tonight, at the bonfire.”
“Okay,” she nods, thinking to herself. “Come meet me before you do it.”
“Yeah, sure.”
Clarisse La Rue touched your face. Clarisse touched your face, and you really fucking liked it.
—-
The three of you sit by the edge of the bonfire. You locked eyes with Clarisse a few minutes ago, letting her know you’re here.
Tyla fusses with your hair, even though you all spent an hour making everything about you perfect. It would be nice to look hot if you were gonna make him fall in love with you.
You watch as she makes her way towards the bathrooms.
Her golden skin shines in the light of the fire, she adjusts her shirt, and you swear you see her abs just under the orange fabric-
“Clarisse is pretty, isn’t she?” Tyla says. “I mean, I almost wish I was the one fake dating her.”
And she is. She is so painfully pretty.
“I’ll tell you all about it,” you wink.
When you step into the bathroom, Clarisse locks the door behind you. You turn around and she’s there. She looks you up and down. You can’t make out the look on her face.
“You’re really trying to impress him, huh?” she smirks. You ignore that.
The ceiling is low in here, so you walk to the corner and reach up at the loose board. You slide it over, reaching inside and grabbing the small bag.
Aphrodite kid secret- makeup is hidden everywhere around camp.
She stares at you. “Has that always been up there?”
You go to the mirror, taking out the mascara and applying another layer.
“Uh… yeah.”
She leans against the wall next to the mirror, watching you with such an intensity it’s like you’re the one beautiful thing in some bloody war she can’t take her eyes away from.
“We should probably set some ground rules,” you say. She hums. “This will probably only be for a month or so.”
“That’s fine.”
You stare pointedly at yourself in the mirror. You, Jacks and Tyla had dumped almost all of your plates into the offerings fire at lunch, hoping for good luck from Aphrodite. With the way your skin seems to glow, your makeup flawless, it seems she’s pleased by your offerings.
Maybe her and Ares are having a fight up on Olympus, and she’s itching to see him knocked down a peg, however vicariously through someone else.
“Well, you can do whatever you want to me.”
“I- what?” you blink, staring at Clarisse like she just turned into a cyclops.
“You can kiss me, hug me, whatever. I mean, we should really do this if we’re gonna do it. Sell it, or whatever.”
“Oh, okay. Yeah, I guess you can do whatever too.”
Clarisse can touch you wherever she wants.
You look up discreetly. Please, Mom, you think. Don’t let me fall in love with Clarisse La Rue.
It’s fine to admit to yourself that you’d like to jump on top of her, but she’s still an Ares kid. She’s a bully, if you’re being honest. But can you say that you’re not one too after this?
Love can burn down cities, love can start wars, love can end them. Love is always there from the beginning of your life to your beginning. The doctor who delivered you loves their career. The woman who makes flower arrangement for your funeral loves flowers, even if she hates making them for funerals.
Love is always there, and when it’s used as a weapon you know it is one of the deadliest things.
But you’re too deep in this now.
She walks around so she’s standing behind you, adjusting her hair in the mirror.
She puts her hand on your hip. You take a deep breath, you pretend. You pretend so hard it might become real.
She smiles brightly in the mirror. “See you out there, baby.”
—-
You pull your top down. That’s the easiest way to get a man to look at you. Pull your top down. You get a few looks as you move through the tree trunk benches, careful that you don’t accidentally trip, because that would completely fuck up the plan.
There’s a part of you that comes from your mother. The part that some may call vain, but how is it your fault to enjoy the attention that other people are giving you? It’s not your fault they’re looking. It’s not your fault you look like your mother’s daughter.
You walk a little longer, finally setting your eyes on Xavier, sitting across the fire from Clarisse and her group. You eyes meet hers. She pretends to itch her nose, but you can see the laugh she’s hiding. You take one more deep breath, say one more please to your mother.
“Xavier,” you say. “Can I sit?”
He already seems a little shocked that you’re talking to him on purpose, but he quickly recovers and pushes his friend down the trunk.
You sit, your thigh touching his, folding your hands over your legs.
“I just wanted to say, Xavier, that you were right. The other night… the potion would have failed anyways. Thank you so much for ruining it when you did. Who knows what could have happened? It could have exploded everywhere.”
You laugh, putting your hand on his arm. He looks up at you, mouth slightly parted.
You said his name twice and he’s already sucked in.
“Really, Xavier, thank you.” You smile softly, looking at his lips before back up to his eyes.
His hand lands on your knee.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
You watch Jackie walk by. He doesn’t hear her whisper. But you see it in his eyes.
You pretend to blush, brushing your hand down his arm before it lands back in your own lap. He leans in closer, until his lips are brushing your ear.
“Why don’t I give you some more things to be thankful for?”
Tyla walks by. He doesn’t hear her whisper either.
“Oh, I should really get back to Clarisse. Sorry, Xavier,”
His hand tightens on your knee and he pulls back.
“C-Clarisse? What would you be doing with her?”
You feign innocence. “Well, she’s my girlfriend. I do a lot of things with her,” you giggle. “I just wanted to thank you, but I should get going. Bye, Xavier!”
You blow him a kiss as you stand up, and you can practically see the hearts in his eyes right along with the blazing rage. You can feel him stare as you walk away, hips swaying.
Clarisse is still trying to hide her laugh when you start walking over to her. The tree trunk around her is all full of people, and a few more are even on the ground.
You stand in front of her, smiling softly.
“Are you not gonna let your girlfriend sit down?”
“Of course I am.”
She leans back and pats her knee. She draws you forward by wrapping her big hand around your hip. When you sit down, she rests her hand flat against your stomach, pressing you right to her. Her other hand rests on your thigh.
Please, Mom, don’t let me fall in love with Clarisse La Rue. Don’t let me like her touching me like this.
Everyone is staring.
It’s exhilarating.
You twist your face into something serious, trying not to break out into a fit of embarrassing giggles.
Her breath tickles your neck.
“I gotta admit, you little witch, that was impressive.”
You smile and place your hand over hers.
“I know.”
—-
The day after the bonfire, everybody at camp is talking about you and Clarisse.
How long have they been dating? Why did they decide to become public now? I swear I saw Y/N and Xavier getting close, though, what happened?
You’ve been trying not to break out laughing all morning. During breakfast you blew Clarisse a kiss and heard one of your siblings gasp dramatically and mumble about how sweet young love is.
Jackie and Tyla made paper hearts for you during arts n’ crafts, talking loudly about how you were such a lovesick little thing. You know Xavier heard about all of those things, because he stares at you every chance he gets and glares at Clarisse at the same time.
You keep exchanging subtle glances with her, small smiles, secrets in between your gazes. It’s nice to have something like this.
After dinner, the two of you go to the woods to pretend like you’re having a secret date. Clarisse brings her spear and you bring a blanket.
You’ve been laying there comfortably for a while, arms under your head like a pillow.
“I wanna know how you did it,” she says, turning her spear in her hands. You open one eye to look at her.
“I say his name a bunch of times. With, like, a lot of intention. Then Jackie and Tyla came by and whispered “you’re in love with the girl in front of you” and other stuff like that. It’s hard to explain. It’s just, like, this power.”
“I was imagining, like, one of those mortal movies, you know? A potion, or something.”
“Oh, we’re trying that too. Medea used her amokinesis in the form of potions and spelled objects, so me, Jackie, and Tyla have been talking to Aster, who’s a child of Hecate, and we tried to make a truth potion.” You laugh, thinking of that night. “That’s why we’re doing this, actually. Xavier found us and stuck his gum in it, so… completely ruined. We have to wait for the next full moon and get all the ingredients. It sucks, whatever, I guess.”
She listened intently the entire time you were talking. Aphrodite kids are always jumping from one thing to another. Clarisse is so focused and single-minded. It feels good to be the center of just one person’s attention. Not having people look at you, but just one person look at you.
“Every time I see him I think about stabbing him 20 times. Now I’ll think about sticking gum in his ear, too.” She turns to you and smiles.
None of that stupid smirking shit she always does, or those over-exaggerated demeaning smiles, she really smiles at you.
Her smile is really pretty.
You laugh along with her after a second.
“I would love to see that,” you murmur, propping yourself up on your forearms. “What really made you agree to do this? I mean, I know you guys surface level hate each other but, come on, I was just rambling and you were all ‘let’s do it’.”
“I hate him,” she shrugs. “Why do you care, anyways? You got what you wanted. Enjoy my beautiful self while it lasts.”
“Yeah, okay,” you chuckle.
You don’t leave until the stars come out.
—-
The second day after the bonfire, Clarisse invites you to sit with her at lunch. Usually, you’re supposed to stay at your cabin tables, but Chiron is busy all day and no one would snitch on Clarisse.
You walk over with your tray in hand, watching as she whispers something to her siblings. You smile at them before she pats the seat next to her.
“Hey,” the boy next to you greets. “I’m Matty.”
He points to the girl across from him. “That’s Marjorie,” he points to the other boy with dark skin across from Clarisse, “That’s Daniel,” and finally your eyes land on the blonde girl sitting across from you.
“I’m Sarah,” she smiles. She seems nice, at least. So does Matty. The rest just seem sort of standoffish. There’s a scuffle under the table, then Daniel glares at Clarisse.
“Hi, Y/N,” he says. “Nice to meet you.”
Matty is sickly sweet nice, handsome too, and you almost wonder if he’s really a child of Ares. But he’s got that same focus like Clarisse.
He asks you questions and listens to your answers.
He had the bad stroke of fate in accidentally getting you going about your experiments in potions and amokinesis, and you find yourself shuffling closer to him.
“Sorry,” you laugh. “I’ll stop torturing you now.”
“No, no, it’s fine. I love a passionate person.”
You weren’t sure if he meant that to be flirting.
Usually you’re good at picking up these things, all Aphrodite kids have a knack for it, but you think he’s just really nice.
You stare at him, tilting your head to the side when Clarisse suddenly grabs your waist and pulls you closer to her. Her breath tickles your neck, just like the bonfire.
“You’re supposed to be my girlfriend, not his,” she whispers, her chin resting against your shoulder.
You roll your eyes. “Am I not allowed to have a conversation?”
“Not when he’s looking.” You spare a quick glance. Xavier is looking at you, a mix between glaring and starting longingly.
“He looks like a cross-eyed dog,” you giggle.
And to your surprise, Clarisse presses her face into your shoulder to muffle her laugh.
—-
All the time you spend with Clarisse is like some stupid board game you play with Tyla and Jackie when there’s nothing else to do. Jenga. That one where you crack the ice and try not to make the polar ball fall.
The games where you chip it away slowly, one by one, wondering if this time will be the time that it falls, if you’ll be the one to lose the game.
You push a little more each time with Clarisse. Each conversation, you learn a little more, you chip away a few of her walls.
It’s addicting to open her up slowly, to get to know her like this. And when it’s just you and her alone, when Xavier isn’t around to torture, you swear it doesn’t feel fake.
—-
The eighth day after the bonfire, you skip arts n’ crafts to follow Clarisse to the archery range.
While the Apollo kids have all that effortless, natural skill with archery, Ares kids are still deadly. You faintly remember seeing Clarisse shoot once. Even though it’s not her weapon of choice, her aim was deadly and she didn’t miss one shot.
You’re okay with a bow.
Clarisse sees the perfect opportunity to flaunt in front of Xavier.
As soon as you crest the hill, your eyes find his, and he beelines towards you.
“Y/N, sweetheart, what can I do for you?”
It’s easy to switch on that stereotypical persona. You twist your fingers into your shirt.
“Yeah, can you help me?” you look up at him, trying to be as disgustingly sweet as you can,
“What’d you need?” he takes a step closer, about to cage you in between him and the cart full of bows and arrows.
“Can you help me pick out a bow? I don’t know what one would be right for me, I don’t know anything about archery. Please?”
He reaches past you, coming close so your back hits the wooden cart. You can’t help the way your eyes widen. He’s bold, you’ll give him that. Everyone reacts differently under the spell, but their true personalities still shine through.
He picks one up, running his hand up and down the curved wood. He plucks at the string, nodding to himself.
“This one’s fit for a lady.”
You take it, fingertips brushing his. “Oh, thank you so much, Xavier.” You give him a small side hug as you run past him, eager to get away from him.
You just need to find Clarisse.
“Hey, don’t you need some help shooting?” you glance over your shoulder, watching him advance.
Where the hell is Clarisse?
You’re about to say you’re fine when you suddenly slide into someone’s arms. You would have slammed into her, if not for the way Clarisse softly reached out to touch your arm, and Gods, you recognize the feel of her skin.
You knew she was there and you gratefully walked forward, your chests touching, her arm around your shoulders.
“I’ll take it from here, Xavier.”
You look up at her. She’s smiling in that same demeaning way.
You’ve grown to like it.
He doesn’t say anything else. You hear him stomp off.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. When you open your eyes after a moment, you realize how close you are.
You’re so close it’s just one move and that’s it. One move and you both know that’ll change it all.
You think she just worked out. You can feel the muscles of her arm against you, you can see the sweat on her hairline, you can see her breathing heavily.
You could just press your ear to her chest and feel everything.
The way her brown eyes reflect the sunshine is mesmerizing. You’ve been looking at her for so long, but it’s like you’re looking into the surface of a lake you swear you recognize, slightly green murky waters, but there was a whole world under the surface if you cared to look.
But you didn’t care to look for the Clarisse under the surface. You don’t care. You don’t want to.
She clears her throat and let’s go of you.
You back up.
“Put that thing down, he probably fucking poisoned it.”
You turn the bow in your hands, but when you look up, she’s already walking towards the far end of the field.
“Wait, wait, what am I gonna use then?”
“Mine, obviously.” You drop the bow.
—-
After taking a few deep breaths, and Clarisse going over the basics again, you filled your mind with images of a bow and arrow and not of her eyes. Not of her lips.
Clarisse La Rue hates Aphrodite kids too, just not as much as Xavier, and not enough to resist revenge.
You focus on that. That’s why you’re here. Revenge.
Revenge for every fucked up thing he’s said, revenge for every time he’s come too hard at you during capture the flag, revenge for all of your siblings and everyone he’s ever tortured.
“Ok, there, that’s a good stance.” She’s raking her eyes up and down your body. But you’re here for revenge. She glanced over her shoulder. “Except for…”
She presses her body to yours from behind, molding against you like she was made to protect you like this, her hand covering yours, her stance just a little wider. She glides her hand across your arm.
“Up, up, just a little.” She’s whispering right into your ear. You let her hands guide you. Your mouth feels dry. “Then let go.”
And how badly you want to let go. You want to let go of these feelings rolling around in your stomach like stones, you want to let go and let them become butterflies and fall into Clarisse.
You prayed to your mother not to fall in love with her, but maybe you should trust your mom. Maybe you should let go.
But you don’t.
You let go of the arrow instead, you keep your tumbling feelings inside, and to your shock you only hit a few inches from the bullseye.
The bow swings in your hand.
“Holy shit. Did I- did I just do that?”
Clarisse laughs. “You did, baby.”
You turn around and throw your arms around her neck, smiling wide and laughing hysterically. The bow was the one weapon you thought you could never master, and here you are after one lesson with Clarisse.
She wraps her arms around your waist, and even though you’ve hugged like this a million times, you both know it’s different this time. And you both ignore it.
But for one second, you’re pretending so hard it’s almost real. It’s almost a real date.
—-
On the ninth day, it all goes to shit.
Sword practice is held just after lunch, when the sun is still high in the sky. The Ares and Aphrodite cabins share the field first, and you, Jackie and Tyla take your time stretching to enjoy the show.
Tyla has to turn around to hide her laugh as you bend over slowly, making sure Xavier is watching, then when you face comes up flushed you smile at him. He smiles back.
You wave to Clarisse and he glares at her.
Jackie says it will take him 5 minutes to ask her to spar. Tyla says 5 too. You say it’ll take him maybe 3 minutes.
He spars with one person, a two minute match, then marched right up to Clarisse.
“How about we go, huh? Want another chance to try and beat me?”
Clarisse was smiling before he walked over, talking to her friends. Her smile fades and is replaced by the dark mask of pure focus.
“I’d love to beat you, Xavier.”
She walks past you to grab a sword from the rack.
Her eyes meet yours. You reach out and put your hand on her face, softly pressing her lips against yours. It’s a peck. It’s barely there. At least now you can check off a box and say you’ve kissed Clarisse La Rue.
She seems so shocked that you’ve actually kissed her you swear she loses her footing for a second. You swear her cheeks are a little flushed. By she stands up taller and ignores it, just like you’ve both been doing for so long.
“Good luck, baby!” you call as she walks off to the circle marked off for sparring.
Xavier looks like he’s about to light the grass on fire.
“She’s gonna beat his ass,” Jackie whispers.
“If he loses, do you think I should comfort him after?”
“Oh, Gods, yes,” Tyla smiles. “That’s so mean. We’re so mean.” It feels too good to stop.
Kissing Clarisse almost felt too good to stop. Even that second, one more longer and you would have been sucked in. You decide not to kiss her for however long this goes on.
Once you start kissing her, you’re scared you’ll never stop.
Revenge feels to good, and you need this.
As soon as they face each other Xavier springs out with a million offensive attacks, slightly sloppy- you can see his anger. Everyone knows you can’t let your emotion get in the way of battle.
Clarisse is calm and counters all his attacks. She even smiles, which makes your stomach flip in a way that isn’t fake.
Her sword flicks along his cheek. It’s a paper cut, barely.
“Oh no,” Clarisse fake frets. “You need me to walk you to the nurse?”
He grunts and launches an attack that’s just plain stupid. It’s messy. He swings too wide. She knocks his sword out of his hand.
He goes to dive for it but her sword is already at his neck.
He breathes heavily, staring at her, and it’s suddenly dead quiet. No more talking, no more swords clanging.
Your eyes are flicking in between them like a ball bouncing up and down. But they linger on Clarisse. Of course they linger on Clarisse.
It’s so quiet you swear you can hear her heartbeat.
“Daddy’s behind you,” he whispers.
She whips around, taking her sword with her, but no one is there. Of course no one is there.
Xavier runs away laughing, and Clarisse turns around. Her cheeks are flushed, she’s gripping the hand of the sword so tight you’re surprised it hasn’t broken off.
Clarisse is not your girlfriend. Clarisse is not even your friend.
But she’s someone, she’s someone to you, and you can’t stand to see her like this.
You walk forward and put your hand on her wrist, taking the sword from her. You’re not even in control of your arms and legs.
She stares pointedly at the distance.
“Let’s go,” you whisper, giving her no choice and pulling her along. You throw the sword at the rack.
—-
You end up in Clarisse’s cabin, door clicking shut behind you as you press your back to it. She stays silent for a moment, until she screams and throws someone’s pillow at the wall. You don’t say anything.
You don’t say anything but you follow her to her bed.
“I’m so sorry,” you whisper, watching as she sits down, fists clenched so tight you hope she isn’t bleeding. “I’m so sorry, Clarisse.”
“You weren’t the one who fell for it. You weren’t the one who fell for that stupid, stupid, childish trick. I did.”
“You wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for us and our plan. If it wasn’t for me.”
You sit down on the bed next to hers.
“Why are you even here? We’re not actually dating, dummy. You can go.”
“I know,” you murmur. You know. You know you aren’t dating. You know you shouldn’t be here. “But you’re still something, Clarisse.”
She slips off her armor.
“I’m not something to you.”
She wants someone else to hurt like she does. She wants someone else to take the fall, to be embarrassed and the center of everyone’s attention so she doesn’t have to.
“I’ll never be something to you, Y/N, just- just go away. This is over, I’m not doing it anymore.”
“Yeah, okay,” you mutter. There’s something wet in your eyes and your throat tightens up. “That’s fine.”
You leave silently and you cry in the woods.
—-
When you finally make your way back to your cabin at nightfall, everyone is fussing around you. Your hair’s messy, mascara streams down your face, your shirt is wet with tears.
“Where have you been?” one of your brothers asks, and the rest of your siblings echo the sentiment.
Tyla doesn’t say anything when she sees you. She just wraps her arms around you. Jackie stands just behind her, eyes locking with yours. She knows. She doesn’t move. She can see it on your face, she can see it in your eyes.
Aphrodite children are predisposed to fall in love fast and hard. You’ve all gathered around your siblings time and time again when their hearts inevitably got broken.
No one wants to date an Aphrodite kid. Not really.
They all think you’re vain and self-centered. They all think you’re weak and useless.
When it comes down to it, that’s what you are.
How can you claim to wield the power of love when it brings you to your knees too?
You thought Clarisse was hot. You thought you could leave it at that. You thought you could pretend, you thought you could ignore it.
But the more you think about it, the more tears fall down your face, the more you realize you were ignoring the wrong thing. You spent so much time trying not to want Clarisse you forgot that she doesn’t even want you. It stings, like a knife in the chest, it hurts to know you’re making it all up.
But it was always pretend. It was always fake. That’s what fake dating is. The Aphrodite side of you just forgot that you couldn’t find comfort in her arms, you couldn’t memorize the feel of her skin, you couldn’t hear the sound of her heartbeat and pretended it beat for you.
You look up at the sky and you want to curse your mother. You want to know why she has abandoned you. But in your heart, you know she hasn’t abandoned you. The Goddess of Love is right next to you, and this is what it feels like.
Knives in your heart. Memories of heartbeats, memories of skin, memories of soft voices and secrets and the feeling that something was yours, something was quiet and shared.
“Y/N,” Jackie breathes.
The words hurt. You say them anyways.
“I fucked up,” you sob. “I fucked up, Jackie. She doesn’t- she won’t, she never will-”
“Y/N,” Tyla coos.
“I fell in love. I fell in love, and it’s over.”
—-
You give up on wearing makeup. The sadness still seeps through your face, and you end up crying most of it off anyways. A few of your hoodies are just permanently stained with mascara with how much you cried. The tears stream down your face and carry the little black specks with it.
You try to visualize everything you feel leaving with the black specks. The love, the anger, the sadness, the regret. But it doesn’t leave, and you’re too tired of trying to hide from it.
Everyone thinks you miserably broke up, and it’s mortifying to know that Clarisse knows you’re like this, she knows you’re absolutely ruined over this- and it was never even real.
You keep telling yourself that. It was fake. It was never real.
But it feels real, the memories feel real. You know they happened, you know Clarisse touched you so often it’s like you’re burned with it. You say she had to have felt it to, because the more you remember the more you remember the electricity, the charge in the air.
But you might just be making that up.
Lunch is the worst time. She’s always so happy at lunch, her and her table laughing loudly. She mentioned to you once, one of those fake star-studded dates in the woods, that she’s always to tired by dinner time because she trains so hard for most of the day.
You stare at her when no one’s looking, and everyone can see you better in the bright light of day- and you can’t look away.
Tyla mumbles that they’re gonna get up to make their offerings, she doesn’t ask if you’re gonna come. You’re probably not even going to eat more than a few bites again.
You’re alone at the stone table.
Xavier sees that as an opportunity.
Love spells are best to break on a full moon. You thought it would go on longer than this, and he’s only become more emboldened by what everyone sees as a breakup.
He sits down next to you, smiling sadly. You prop your head up in your hand.
“Y/N, you sad angel.” His hand grazes your shoulder, you can’t be bothered to tell him to stop. He places a flower in front of you. “To cheer you up.”
“Thanks, Xavier,” you mutter. He stares at you for a moment longer. Jackie comes back, slamming her tray down onto the table.
“Go away, Xavier,” she says, the same thing she says every day. Jackie has this look in her eyes that lets you know she’s ready to jump on you if she has to.
You think he would stop trying, but he can’t. He can’t because of this stupid love spell that ruined everything. And you can’t even take it off of him, not until the full moon.
You wouldn’t feel like this if it wasn’t for that love spell.
—-
There is one a day a year that Chiron turns a blind eye to parties. The summer solstice all of the cabin leaders come together to throw a huge party, mostly centered around the bonfire, food and drinks and even music. It’s the one night a year where you’re allowed to be teenagers, and it’s not taken lightly.
It even makes you feel a little excited.
“So what if all that shit happened?” Tyla asked. “We’re gonna make sure you look as hell at this party, and then you’re gonna go find someone and make out with them in a dark corner. Don’t even look who it is. Just grab the first random person and kiss them.”
“Okay, well, I’m not doing that, but I will do something of the sort. There is definitively some making out on my list tonight.”
“Oh, as long as it’s not with Xavier,” Tyla frets.
Jackie kicks her. “If Y/N makes out with Xavier, I will personally pay Chiron a million dollars to feed both of them to some horrible monster.”
“Supportive,” you muse.
Jackie gasps. “I forgot about this dress.”
“For which one of us?” Tyla asks.
Jackie turns around, holding up the back dress. It’s sparkly, a slit up the side, going just to your knees. It’s ruffled at the chest, thin spaghetti straps for the top. You can’t wear it. It’s too much, too revealing.
You look around the room.
Most of your siblings are wearing worse.
And you need to get your mind off her.
“I’m wearing that.”
Tyla squeals and Jackie lays it out on your bed.
You’ll forget about her tonight, you promise yourself.
—-
The bonfire burns high and bright, and even 20 feet away from it the feeling is burning. It’s so hot you’re glad you wore this barely there grass, it frees up your skin to touch the cool summer air.
You, Tyla and Jackie had gratefully taken a few too many sips of the alcohol someone had managed to sneak in and was now passing around.
Everything is so funny in the firelight.
Tyla’s tall heels keep sinking into the grass, and you keep giggling when your own do the same. You’re all holding onto each other, barely able to stand.
There was more nail polish fumes in the cabin than usual, and you’ll swear on your life that it gets to your head.
“Noooooo,” Tyla moans, sinking yet again into the grass. She gasps, pointing at the logs currently abandoned. “I’ll just walk on those!”
Your heels sink into the dirt.
“Me too,” you say, smiling as you grab Tyla’s hand and begin your ascent. Jackie ran off with an Apollo boy a minute ago, the first of your group to leave.
You grab onto each other, laughing boisterously as you keep almost falling.
“I-I can bare-barely stand!” you shout, giggling as you throw your arms to the sides.
“Me either!” Tyla shouts back. She jumps off, walking between the end of that one to the beginning of the next log.
“Hey, do you think I can jump and make it?”
Tyla judges the maybe 4 foot jump.
“I don’t know.”
“Well, I’m gonna try,” you giggle. “I’m gonna jump!”
“Whoooo!” Tyla shouts, laughing too. This entire night is just about you and your friends and laughter. She starts clapping. “Y/N, Y/N, Y/N, Y/N,”
You jump, eyes screwed shut, slamming into something mid air and being brought to the ground.
“Wh-” you mumble, and Tyla let’s out a gasp.
“Are you trying to kill yourself?” Clarisse scolds, her hands quickly falling from your waist.
And, of course, the first instinct of your intoxicated brain is to start screaming.
Clarisse grabs your arm and drags you off, past the light of the fire and into a space between the cabins. She slaps her hand over your mouth and you shut up.
“Are you going to stop being such a baby now?”
She lets go of your face and you immediately stumble forward so she has to catch you, pressing your finger into her chest.
“You, demon, are not my mother! So, I don’t know what you’re doing.”
She laughs, holding you up.
“Oh, you’re drunk.”
“Tipsy,” you correct. “As I was saying, don’t you remember, Clarisse, we will never be something to each other.” You push her away from you, heels sinking into the ground and keeping you upright.
Her face falls.
It’s so dark in here but you’re so close to her you can tell.
“Y/N, I-”
You can’t listen to her talk so softly. Being away from the heat of the fire clears up your brain.
“Where’s Tyla?” her hands fall from your hips. “Tyla?!” you dig you heels out of the mud, finding her sitting on the log, talking animatedly to Matty about something. “Oh,” you mumble.
They’re both so absorbed in each other they don’t hear you. And suddenly, you’re the last one left.
You head to a nearby table and chug a bottle of water, shoving a cupcake into your mouth.
“I’m not gonna be alone tonight,” you mumble to yourself. You look up at the almost full moon. You eyes scan the crowd. Xavier isn’t exactly bad looking, and you just need someone tonight. You need anything.
You don’t know where Clarisse is. You tell yourself you don’t care.
You move through the crowd, adjusting your hair, breathing in and out. You won’t be alone tonight. You won’t.
You spot him sitting off to the side with his friends, the group of them sharing a bottle just like you did.
“Xavier!” you shout. His eyes turn to you immediately. He shoves the bottle into his friends hands, standing up and walking over to you like it was his entire purpose to.
“Y/N,” he eyes you up and down. “You look- you look fucking hot.”
“Thank you. Now, dance with me.”
He follows you, his arm gripped in your hand, you can feel him staring at your ass and you don’t care, dragging him towards the music, towards the dance floor.
His hand is all over your ass, your thigh, your hips, drawing you closer to him as you spin and his other winds it’s way around your face.
He’s not her. You can’t bring yourself to feel guilty about imagining her hands on you.
You put your arms around his neck, dancing in a way that would probably make your mother blush.
When you open your eyes, they’re locked with hers.
She seems to have made her way back to her friends, sitting on a log, leaning against her arm and staring at you. Her hands are clenched the same way they were that day. You can see her, you can see her perfectly and she can see you perfectly. She can see you and him.
Good.
You smile at her, waving the way you would have done to Xavier, except now the roles are reversed. He gets to have you, and she has to watch.
His mouth finds your neck. You laugh, throwing your head back, you don’t imagine her lips there. You just sink into the moment.
When your lips crash against his, there’s nothing except hot, hot desire. Like a blue flame, you’re all teeth and tongue, clashing together in a way that is purely carnal.
His hands are everywhere and you love it. It’s like a game, trying to guess where he’ll go next, and it keeps you so wonderfully distracted.
He tugs at the slit of your dress. You pull away for air.
“N-not here. Not yet.”
His greedy hand remains where it is until you shove it down, laughing lightly.
“Maybe later,” you whisper.
“You’re so beautiful,” he mumbles into your neck. “Just let me…” he spins you two around, his hand slips under your dress, against your bare ass.
“Xavier-” you push at his greedy hand again.
“So, so beautiful, like you’re a witch-”
He’s ripped away from you.
You watch in horror as Clarisse grabs him by the front of his shirt and punches him square in the face.
You start screaming obscenities at the top of your lungs.
Xavier only seems to find it funny.
“You fuckin’ jealous, Clarisse?” he laughs. “Fuckin’ jealous, wonder if he’d be proud of you now, beating up his own son for a daughter of Aphrodite?”
She punches him again. Again.
“Fuckin’ jealous?” he says again, laughing, spitting out blood. “Are you fucking jealous?”
One of her siblings finally grabs her and pulls her away. She shoves them off of her.
“I’ll kill you,” she whispers to him. He doesn’t seem scared at all. You stand there and watch, stupidly, feeling like a bird from the skies watching it all unfold, unable to do anything. “Stay away from her. Stay the fuck away from her.”
She looks at you, you faintly realize the music’s stopped.
“Clarisse-”
“She’s not yours!” Xavier laughs from the ground. “The weak Aphrodite girl doesn’t belong to you, that’s gotta sting, Clarisse-”
A love spell only change’s one’s emotions towards a person. Their personalities are the same. They way they behave under a love spell is the same way they’d behave in a regular relationship, except with a lasting relentlessness.
“Shut up, Xavier!” you shout. You’re so sick of him. Sick of his bullshit. He can’t even make out with you without thinking about the next step.
You see it fade from his eyes.
It shouldn’t be.
You watch in horror as the spell falls, you realize this all wasn’t supposed to happen. You were never supposed to actually kiss him.
“Witch,” he mumbles. He was just moaning that against your cheek a minute ago.
He holds his hands to his already red face.
“You’re a fucking witch.”
Everyone is looking at you, for once in your life, you hate it.
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this,” you whisper.
Your eyes meet Clarisse’s. You can’t tell what’s on her face. You walk away.
—-
She finds you under the stars. Of course she does. You didn’t know where else to go. Cabin too stuffy. The lake is too far. The only place left is the woods, the spots where you would go with her.
She stands behind you. You can hear her breathing.
“Do you need something?” you mutter.
“I was selfish,” she starts.
You snort. Clarisse La Rue is a lot of things, you’ll be here all night.
“And I was hurt. So I took it out on you, which I really, really regret. You didn’t deserve that and it wasn’t true.”
It wasn’t true.
“Um, I was scared. So I made a decision for the both of us. But I’m not scared anymore.”
You place your hand on the grass next to you.
She sits, you don’t look at each other.
“That was all I had planned, but more has happened, so… uh, I was watching you the entire night, I guess. Not in a creepy way. I mean, you look, that dress… I couldn’t take my eyes away. Then you almost killed yourself on the logs.”
You smile.
“And I touched you again and I just, it was so much. Then you were on the dance floor, and he was all over you and- I was jealous. I was so jealous, like, I was actually about to go insane. And I saw you push his hand away, I saw him do it again, and I…”
“Went insane, berserk, crazy? Lost all proprietary?”
“Yeah,” she murmurs. “All of that. I’m not gonna apologize for punching the shit out of him. But I am sorry for the things I said.”
“Did you mean it?”
She just seems grateful you’re talking to her.
“Mean what?”
“That it wasn’t true.”
“It wasn’t true.”
You finally look at her. It feels so good to let go. To finally look at her, finally see her.
“I-I was just angry, and I-”
You’re sick of hearing her talk.
It’s nothing like the kiss with Xavier.
Its slow and sweet, heady like syrup, and you feel like you’re sinking beneath the current of some river. Your hands are on her face, she rests hers on your neck.
The kiss was Xavier was pure passion, no love, just bodies and bodies and no thoughts between them. This is all care, this is all slowness, this is all appreciation. It’s faces and faces, singular focus, one intent.
You pull away.
“I was so jealous,” she breathes, like it’s an explanation for the way she grabs you closer, harder, more, kissing you like Xavier did except it’s all erased. You can’t even remember what it feels like for someone else to touch you, let alone kiss you.
It just feels like her. It all feels like her, before her and after her.
When she finally starts to kiss down your neck, it’s so slow again, it’s like she can’t believe you’re in her arms, it’s like she can’t believe she’s got your hands on you. You grab her shoulders, you have her.
You look up towards the sky. Sorry I ever doubted you. Thanks, Mom.
You could see her across from you, you could see her on the dance floor, but now you can see her.

As the sun rose, it cast a soft, golden glow over Camp Half-Blood, signalling the start of another bustling day. The day of 'capture the flag' always stirred up excitement and anticipation among the campers, transforming the usually tranquil camp into a hive of activity.
It was a day that held great significance within the camp's traditions, and the palpable hustle and bustle was a testament to its importance. [Name] walked from her cabin to the training grounds in hopes to get a few more minutes to go over some defensive positions.
However, her contemplative silence was abruptly shattered by the commanding bark of instructions echoing from a voice she recognized all too well. The words were harsh, direct, and specific, as the head of the Ares cabin usually was. [Name] smiled at the sound of Clarisse La Rue’s pointed yelling, her direct and impersonal insults at the red team were a sign of her good mood.
If that was not enough of a sign, Clarisse looked over at [Name] when she finished speaking and smiled. It was a slight smile, [Name] will admit, but she saw it.
[Name] knew Clarisse very well. There was little that [Name] didn’t know about the girl at this point. And [Name] knew Clarisse had a plan.
“Where are you off to?” Clarisse asked, sauntering over as her hair, in a ponytail, swung behind her. [Name] always thought she was a sight to behold.
“Just on my way to the training grounds, care to join?” [Name] asked, already starting to make her way to the grounds, Clarisse falling into step beside her.
[Name] watched Clarisse face closely as they walked, hoping the girl might give up what she was thinking about. What she was planning.
When she didn’t say anything, [Name] took matters into her own hands.
“What are you planning?” [Name] smirked, her voice playful as watched Clarisse’s mouth twitch, the corners of her mouth turning upward ever so slightly. It looked like she was trying not to smile.
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Nothing, just planning on winning,” Clarisse smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes. Something twinkled in them though, something like mischief…
“And this could have nothing to do with our new camper? The one kicked your ass in the washroom?” There was a careful teasing in [Name]’s voice, she was determined to get her point across but she was not willing to feel the force of Clarisse La Rue’s rage.
Clarisse only rolls her eyes. She scoffs and looks away. [Name] sniffles a giggle at vision of Clarisse, soaked in toilet water, running out of the washroom like a wet puppy. Clarisse abruptly stops and turns to [Name], bringing her thoughts from Clarisse to the reason she was there, the defensive positions. ”You know your job. I know you will do well,” Clarisse puts simply, her face remaining stoic, but her eyes betray her, conveying the fondness she tries so hard to hide.
[Name] nods as she walks away.
The game started as usual, the only difference was the direction Clarisse and some of her siblings ran, which [Name] thought was strange but knew not to question Clarisse about these things. The game moved quickly at the start, everyone running off into a different direction, [Name] doing the same. But after running a little further in the forest, she found her spot not far from the Red flag. There were only a few Ares kids protecting the Flag a few metres away but other than that, the forest was surprisingly empty. A stark contrast to a few minutes prior. There, [Name] took her stand, waiting for the blue team to come barreling in. The young Athena girl on the blue team had a brilliant plan for her to just run in with her invisibility cap and just take the flag. A plan she has used before, Clarisse was hoping that this time [Name]’s magic could somehow make it so the red team could actually see the young girl.
[Name] figured she could just make a small spell to not let magical items/gifts go past a barrier. It wasn’t strong and it would only work once, but it was better than nothing. Unfortunately, the spell could only protect the front of the flag, which left the back completely defenceless.
And, of course, Annabeth Chase would know that.
[Name] breaks out into a run after the floating red flag watching as the blue team breaks out into cheers as they see the flag floating quickly in their direction. [Name] slows down to a jog, knowing that if the Are’s kids couldn’t keep up with them, they had already won. And a well-deserved win at that. She could almost smile at the fact but as she comes up to the beach she hears the ear piercing scream of Clarisse. [Name] rushes in as Clarisse attempts to take the head off the new twelve year old. Grabbing her shoulders, [Name] pulls her away from the terrified boy. [Name]’s eyes lock on the broken spear on the floor as she walks Clarisse out and tries not to wince.
Her spear, her gift from her dad.
Turning Clarisse, [Name] gets a good look at her face. Clarisse’s face is rigid with anger, unmoving and unsurprisingly shocked, her eyes lock with [Name]’s. With her hands on Clarisse’s shoulders, she could feel the heavy breaths Clarisse was trying to take.
“Clarisse.”
“M-m…” She started quietly, her brows shifting from turned down to turned up and back again. Her eyes looking just past the daughter of Hecate in front of her, unfocused.
“Clarisse,” [Name] calls again.
“My… My spear,” Clarisse pants, her fists tightening around nothing.
“Clarisse!” [Name] calls louder, moving her hands from the Are’s girl’s shoulders to cup her face.
Clarisse finally snaps out of it, her eyes falling on the girl in front of her, her shoulders fall and she takes a deep breath.
“Oh Clarisse, I am so sorry,” [Name] brings her into a hug, one arm wrapped around the bigger girl and one holding her head, being careful of her curls.
She tucks her head into [Name]’s neck and takes a deep breath, when she lets it out her grip on the Hecate girl tightens, but her shoulders relax.
“Okay, love. Let’s get you back to your cabin,” [Name] whispers, gently caressing the strong girl’s face, finding that her hand comes back slightly damp, and [Name] knows its not from sweat.
The next afternoon, Clarisse was simmering moping on a bench by the training grounds when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Clarisse whipped around, standing up quickly, arms crossed, “What?! Oh, it’s just you.”
“Just me,” [Name] repeats, smile on her face.
Her smile causes Clarisse to drop her accusatory glare in favour of a curious head tilt.
“Where were you all day?”
[Name] shrugs, “Around, why? Missed me?”
Clarisse just pouts, brows furrowed, her face somewhere between annoyed and amused.
“Aww, was spending last night in my arms not enough for big, strong, Clarisse?” [Name] giggles, eyes watching the girl before her with fondness. Clarisse was always easy to read.
Clarisse remained silent, but her eyes screamed, ‘yes, it was not enough’.
“Well, don’t you worry. I am here now, and I brought a gift. Hopefully this makes you feel better,” [Name] pulls out Clarisse’s spear—completely fixed as if it hadn’t been broken to begin with— from behind her back, that she was somehow able to conceal.
Clarisse’s eyes blow wide, her arms dropping along with her jaw. She quickly takes the spear from [Name]’s hands, examining it. Feeling how the weight feels in her hands.
“How did you do this,” She questions, still looking at the spear with amazement.
[Name] shrugs, “I may not be a daughter of Hephaestus, but being the daughter of Goddess of witchcraft and sorcery has its benefits when it comes to magical artifacts.”
Clarisse puts the spear on the bench carefully before turning her attention to [Name], taking her face into her hands.
“You are the most beautiful, wonderful, talented, gorgeous,” she kisses [Name] passionately, pulling her closer, before parting again. “-adorable, skilled girl I have ever met.”
She connects their lips again, this time softer, gentler, lovingly.
“You know that?” she questions, looking into [Name]’s eyes.
[Name] giggles, “So, you like it?”
“Yes, dummy,” she kisses her again, a big smile evident as she presses her lips to [Name].
“Now it is time to wave my hot girl and my awesome spear in that little twerps face.”

Readin between the lines
Pairings - Clarisse La rue x Fem! Daughter of Hecate Reader
Synopis- both you and clarisse like eachother but Your both to stuborn to admit it
An - HAPPY VALENTINES DAY — THIS IS RUSHED IM SRY 😭😭
Tumblr media
You knew clarisse liked you. It was obvious. How she flirted with you, how touchy clarisse was when anyone else seemed to show any interest in you. The fact you two have kissed before didnt help either, but this girl still refuses to tell you she loved you.
And it just so happened your just as bad. Clarisse would lay awake at night regretfully thinking about you and about you and your antics. You wore shorts that showed off your ass just for you to tease her with them. How you would make flirty remarks while clarisse worked out or how you would complain about how hot it was down at the lake while wearing a bikini you knew the girl liked. But you refused to tell clarisse how you liked her.
That seemed to be your relationship a constant back and forth neither girls wanting to admit they liked each-other but sure as hell getting pissed off if either entertained the idea of another girl.
——
“Oh you big baby I bet it’s not even that heavy” you teased leaning back on the bench you sat on. Clarisse dropped a heavy weight on the ground looking over at you. “Oh yeah?” She smiled sarcastically “why don’t you come over here and lift them then”
You rolled your eyes, standing up you walked over towards clarisse. Grabbing the heavy weight with both of your hands you still struggled to lift it.
After a few seconds you dropped it down stumbling back into clarisse. “Not that heavy right?”
“Shut up” You laughed looking up at the girl, smiling as she hugged you from behind with her leaning down coming closer to you.
About to kiss the scene was disrupted as silena entered the arena. “Hey Lise, Chiron wants you both” she chuckled dragging her finger between you two “for a meeting or something dont be late Yeah”
The daughter of Aphrodite gave clarisse a teasing Look making the girl sigh annoyingly. “Whatever could silena be implying clarisse” You joked
“You know not everything has to have an underlying meaning” she looked down at you, smiling you leaned into her more letting your lips graze one another’s. “Yeah but where’s the fun in that” kissing her quickly, you grabbed clarisses hand and started to lead her towards the big house
Gods you were going to be the end of her
——
“Ladies, thank you for coming and meeting us today” Chiron nodded towards you and clarisse as you entered the patio.
Mr. D grunted not bothering to look up from his cards. Chiron looked over at him with a look of dissapointment before facing you two once again. “So why did you need to see us” clarisse shifted around slightly before crossing her arms.
“Well as you know the summer is about to start, and while quest have not been given in the recent years I am in need of you two to find something for me” Chiron held is hands infront of him as he spoke. You didn’t look up but you could tell by how clarisses breath changed that she was more than excited to take this quest. “In flordia, towards Venus beach you will find an abandoned fair grounds, built many years ago by one of Mr.Ds here cults. After a large org—“
“Bascially the cult disbanded and I left a very important kantharos there and I want it back!” Mr.D sat up annoyed by the entire situation. Chiron rubbed his eyes in the gods childlike display. “Essentially girls we have chosen you two for this quest because clarisse your talent in battle and y/n your talent with magic and connection with the spiritual world, these are both traits you will need in completing this quest”
“Do you accept the damn quest or not” Dionysius sighed opening a new can of Diet Coke
You looked up at clarisse, her following suit and looking down at you. Nodding you faced Chiron once again. “We accept”
———
Sitting in the train station you smiled as clarisse tapped her leg. Finally the girl snapped groaning and standing up. “This is boring— the train won’t be here for another hour can we please go do something”
“And what are we gonna do?” You hummed, continuing to read your book. Clarisse rolled her eyes “I don’t know fucking— maybe we could get some food or something”
“Are You asking me on a Date?” Turning the page you smiled as the girl infront of you continued to get more bc more annoyed. “No I’m not asking you on a date I’m hungry and I want food”
“Then go get food what do you need me for” you continued to tease the woman. Watching as she walked away flustered, it brought a sense of accomplishment towards you— mainly because you loved pissing her off
——
“Okkkkkk— ah! There it is room 256” you smiled placing your key card into the train room door. Opening it and walking inside you and clarisse both paused taking a moment to comprehend the room.
It was small, that you expected. However the design of the room you didn’t. There was a twin sized bed pressed against the wall with a small window right up against it, a matching bed right above closer to the cieling and a flimsy ladder against the wall. Some storage underneath the bottom bunk and a small table at the other end of the tiny room.
“Nice and cozy” clarisse bitterly spoke as she pushed past you into the room. Setting her stuff on the top bunk you raised an eyebrow while closing the door. “Who said you got top bunk, shouldn’t you take the bottom you know just incase we get attacked and I need someone strong to protect me” You chuckled some, leaning against the beds you reached up grabbing one of clarisses curls twirling the hair around your finger.
Clarisse however remained unamused, her right hand finding itself on your hip. “I’m sure you of all people can take care of yourself”
“Yeah but what’s the point if I have you here” flicking the curl away you leaned up like you were going to kiss her, lips brushing and the hot breath of one another grazing each others skin you smiled pulling back and handing clarisse your bag. “Put it up for me yeah? I wanna go check out the train”
“I fucking hate you”
“You’ll get over it”
——
Walking out of the shower hall you headed back to your room. Once inside you stop to take a moment to appreciate Clarisse who was doing pull ups with the bar on the top bed.
Taking in the sight of the girl in her black sports bra and red plaid shorts that coincidencly matched your plaid shorts and black tank top, the first person who came to mind was most likely silena trying to make you two match
Clarisse dropped down from where she had once been up high, she looked confused at your two matching pjs
“Silena?” You playfully asked
“Fucking silena” she complained rubbing her eyes. Shrugging your shoulders you sat down onto your bed looking up at clarisse.
After a few moments she started to go around the room grabbing a few items before setting them on her bed, “what no goodnight kiss?” You continued your teasing strike as clarisse tried to get up on her bed.
She looked down at you with a sarcastic face “really.”
“You know it’s not good romantic practice to denye a woman a kiss”
“That’s ironic coming from you”
“And your a bully, just give me a kiss” you laughed tilting your head. After a few minutes of back and forth clarisse eventually leaned down playing a kiss on your lips. It was short and flustered, you could easily tell she was nervous. But it was still cute none the less. “Happy now?”
“Jumping for joy”
Clarisse rolled her eyes “your so stupid”
——
Two days later the train pulled into its stop at Venus beach flordia, taking your bags both you and clarisse set out looking around for where ever the cult use to be.
Following a long discarded map that Chiron had given in aid on the quest, clarisse had taken the lead charting out the way.
Soon however she came to a stopping point. Grabbing her arm you looked up at the girl with concern. “Your dehydrated, common let’s get you come water”
Clarisse shook her head “no I’m fine..” she stubbornly spoke trying to keep walking
“The quest can wait you need to rest for a moment” grabbing her hand you lead her into a near by cafe.
Ordering two waters and a slice of strawberry shortcake you sat down with the tired girl passing over her drink. Watching as she gulped it down your concern soon dissipating behind you.
You knew you liked clarisse, shit you knew you loved her but for some reason telling her how you felt just.. scared you, you didn’t want to loose her as a friend but at the same time who kisses their friends.
“Dude—“ Clarisse snapped her fingers bringing you out of your head. Now drawn to her attention you watched as she explained the plan. “We’ll wait til night fall, wherever this old cult place use to be I guess was built over with a fair grounds, after some freak accident it was closed down that’s where we’re gonna find Mr.D’s cup ”
Nodding along you took mental notes of the Important stuff. “Ok.. so what we spend five hours at the fair grounds, it’s what 6pm now the sun will set in an hour so at 12 am we head back to the train station inorder to board our next train at one”
she nodded, shaking her leg on the ground you could tell she was anxious to get moving again. Anyone would be lying if they didn’t agree that clarisse was Absolutely beautiful when she was in the middle of plan making.
——
Finding the fair ground was easy, what wasn’t easy though was having to search through everything just to find one stupid cup.
At this point you had been searching for an hour with nothing to prove for it. The only thing you did find was an obscene amount of green slime? Mucus? You didnt care all you knew was that it was acidic. In a fit of disappointment you sat down on one of the horses on the carousel. Rubbing your eyes frustrated you let out a deep sigh trying to calm down.
After a moment you started to hear music play. Looking up confused you saw clarisse standing at the control pad with a smile on her face. The horses started to move up and down, moving in a circle with the broken record music in the background.
Once the ride came to an end you looked at her with a neutral face, your arms crossed.
“What? We’re at the fair we deserve to at least have some fun” she joked.
“What happened to ‘we need to focus on the quest’ ”
Clarisse rolled her eyes “I said that when we first got here, now we’re having a break so do you wanna go again” you tilted your head some with a smile. “Yeah you come ride it with me”
“Ah see I would but who would control the pannel”
The control board sparked with electricty now working on its own. Waving your fingers at clarisse you giggled knowing your magic sometimes freaked her out.
“Whatever I can do that to” she muttered. Taking a seat beside you on a different horse you both remained quiet just looking at one another.
“I use to come to the fair” clarisse sighed.
You looked over confused at the sudden confession though you weren’t complaining. “See my mom would take me every year since I was 5, she was a military officer so she wasn’t around much but she always came home for the fair. That was until I was 9… a monster attacked me and coach hedge brought me to camp.” she paused for a moment, looking up at the dark sky completly unaware how stunning she looked in the golden light. “It been years since I last saw my mom, being here it reminds me a lot of her.. but I’m glad I’m here with you” she looked back down at you.
There was this feeling in the air— almost like you both had something to say but couldn’t find the words to express it.
Just as You opened your mouth to talk the ride jerked forward coming to an abrupt stop, falling off your horse you groaned. Sitting up and rubbing your head you found clarisse kneeling over you trying to help you up. “You allright? Everything still ok”
Nodding you let your head go. “Yeah I’m fine.. the control panel probably stopped working” giving clarisse a comforting smile she calmed down some helping you up.
“Let’s Just Go find the kantharos” clarisses Guard was up once again. You let out a disappointed sigh but agreed, feeling your cheeks grow warm as the taller girl grabbed your hand
——
Time was cutting short, 10:45 pm— the entire fair grounds checked and still no damn goblet. At this point you were convinced this was a gag quest. “There’s one place we haven’t checked” Clarisse sighed crossing her arms.
“Yeah and where’s that”
“The hall of mirrors”
Your playful demeanor soon fell “I’m not going in there” you cautiously spoke.
The stronger girl chuckled. “Why are you scared?” At first she she figured it was a joke, once realizing how serious you were she changed her stance. “What’s wrong with the hall of mirrors”
“It’s common knowledge in the witchcraft world that if you face two mirrors together that evil spirits will have access to the mortal world. Being that I’m a daughter of Hecate I’m at much more risk for danger than you as a daughter of are”
“That would of been great to know before”Clarisse let out an annoyed sigh.
“Well I didnt think we We’re going to have to go inside the damned place” you bit back not appreciating her attitude
Tapping her spear trying to think of what to do, she wasn’t about to drag you into the building but knew she was screwed in there if there was a monster without your help.
After a long moment you groaned holding your head back. “Fine I’ll go if it means finding the kantharos— but don’t say I don’t do shit for you”
It was just like clarisse had predicted, the cup was in the middle of the maze, what she didn’t predict was a baby hydra curled up around it.
“Fuck this is a hydra nest?!” You whispered yelled in a panic. Clarisse started inching towards the monster against your better judgement making your whisper curses in Greek at her. “When I say run.. we run” she softly spoke while placing her spear on her back.
“Clarisse don’t do it i will kill you” You threatened as she reached for the kantharos. “Clarisse?!” You spoke against your teeth. The daughter of ares however ignored you, reaching down you watched as she grabbed the cup slowly itching it away from the baby hydra
“RUN!” She yelled grabbing your hand in her free one. The baby hydra quickly woke with its prize now gone.
The screeching monster started to chase you down the maze, breaking multiple mirrors in its fit of rage. You tried not to look back but you couldn’t help. “Shit clarisse look out!” You yelled, letting go of her for a moment you tapped a bracelet on your hand revealing a shield— that you may or may not of stolen from the hephatus cabin— blocking the monsters acidic bile.
That’s what it was, all the slime you found around the park it was hydra venom mentally you beat yourself up at not realizing it sooner
Dodging past multiple dead ins you started to get anxious. Every turn every pause everything felt the same. What if you weren’t moving, what if you didn’t escape. Everything flooding your mind at once you hadn’t realized clarisse practically threw you out the maze.
Taking her spear she tossed the cup to you before using her weapon to seal the metal door shut with the electricity that conducted in the tip.
Pacing back three steps clarisse kept her spear readied waiting for the door to bust down, after what seemed like eternity the monster gave up returning to its spot in the center.
Both of you relaxed immediately. Now with the cup in hand your quest was complete.. “I guess this is it, we take that back to camp and well be named successful victors” she panted slightly helping you up.
“Yeah… orr we could have a little more fun while we’re here. What was that you said about ‘deserving to ride the rides’?” You teased the now flustered girl.
——
For the remaining hour you had rode every ride that you could, it was almost like a date. A date as a real couple.
Ending the night you rode the Ferris wheel with clarisse. Stopping up at the top you took a minute to appericate the view. “You know.. we would of never gotten this if it wasn’t for you” you looked back at clarisse.
“Yeah Well you were helpful in making sure the entire quest went smoothly” she chuckled holding her head down humbly.
“That’s debatable” You laughed leaning back tracing the designs on the cup. “Not really.. you always make things go smoother so it wasn’t really a shock you made this entire shit show actually tolerable”
“Oh was that a compliment clarisse” you gave a small chuckle. Looking up you noticed clarisse staring at you with a certain softness that if anyone at camp had seen it they would of denied it was clarisse.
She shrugged her shoulders some not really sure what to do. Setting the cup aside you leaned forward some. “Well, if it weren’t for you then we could of never found Mr.D’s goblet so.. if anything your the one to thank” you smiled some at her.
It was like a scene out of a movie. Clarisse learned forward bringing her face close to yours. Both of your hearts beating loudly. “I think.. I”
“Yeah” you whispered back, sure you’ve kissed multiple times before but for some reason.. this time felt different.
Pulling eachother Close you slowly kissed clarisse. Each time before it had been a quick kiss. This time however it was slower, more intimate and loving.
Her hands holding your waist with your fingers locked in her curls. The kiss breaking multiple times only to be continued not even a moment later, both of you kissing like you needed it to breathe. You figured you had imagined it, hearing an ‘i love you’ muttered somewhere in the heated scene.
Pulling back panting you looked at clarisse with blown pupiles. “I love you to” You muttered not realizing what you said until you spoke.
“Thank fucking god” clarisse tirelessly spoke before pulling you back into a kiss.

Can I have a whipped!Clarisse x sunshine!reader headcannons or one shot idk (could reader be either a Hecate daughter or just unspecified?) :3
Have a nice day/night
Ugh, I love Grumpy X Sunshine.
Clarisse x Sunshine!Reader Headcannons
Okay, literally no one expected you two to start dating.
Plot-twist of the century vibes.
You're so sweet and kind to everyone, offering your magical insight to anyone who asks you.
And she's so tough and brutal all the time, always picking fights with people over the smallest things.
Literal polar opposites, but opposites attract.
I feel like she would be pining over you from the moment you met.
Something about you drew her in. Maybe the way you carried yourself, maybe it was your natural talent for magic.
Either way, she's so whipped for you.
You have her wrapped around your finger without even trying.
I feel like she's the kind of person to practice what she's going to say to you before she actually asks you out.
I can just imagine her pacing around her cabin when no one is around whispering the script she made in preparation.
Because of her dad constantly ignoring her, and what little attention she does get being him telling her that she'll never be good enough, or never as good as her brothers, she has a MASSIVE fear of rejection.
That really plays a role in how she asks you out.
She'd literally be so nervous it's not even funny.
When she does eventually ask you out there is a lot of stuttering and stumbling over words.
You would probably be in your cabin, just finishing brewing a potion when she comes to you.
You can't help but laugh at how nervous she is, finding it rather adorable.
Obviously she gets really offended and tries to leave, telling you to forget she said anything in the first place.
You pull her back to you and kiss her.
"I wasn't laughing to make fun of you, I was laughing because you're cute."
From that moment on, her protectiveness SKYROCKETS.
Someone looks at you wrong? They're in the infirmary getting stitches.
Someone calls you a freak because of your mom being Hecate? She's lost dessert privileges for the next five months.
Eventually you do have to talk to her and tell her to tone it down.
But that just ends in y'all making out on her bed.
How is she supposed to be serious when her girlfriend is sitting there looking so pretty and perfect, and her lips are just so kissable.
SPEAKING OF, you can't tell me this girl isn't obsessed with kissing you.
Doesn't matter where you are or who you're with, she will kiss you at any point in time.
Lips, forehead, nose, cheek, neck, shoulder, you name it.
She could literally be about to break someones bones until you come up.
The mood switch is IMMEDIATE.
From "I will literally murder you." to "Oh hey baby, how was your day." and just kissing all over your face.
It gives everyone whiplash.
But they get used to it eventually.
She's just so in love with you.
You're literally the first person to ever show her what it's like to genuinely be loved and not just wanted as a weapon.
You're the first and only person she says "I love you" to.
You're especially the first person and only person she means it to.
It takes her a while to open up because she hates being perceived as weak or soft. After a while though, she will start coming to you with her problems.
She'll occasionally come to your cabin in the middle of the night after having a nightmare, usually about you dying.
She never wants to talk about it, she just wants you to hold her until she falls back asleep.
Everyone in both of your cabins comes to love y'all.
I like to think that Ares cabin is sworn to a mutual secrecy because almost all of them have someone they sneak in at night to cuddle.
But they all have a reputation to uphold no one talks about it.
If you think regular Clarisse likes to cuddle, Whipped!Clarisse is 10x worse.
She'll never admit it, but cuddling you is one of her favorite things ever.
Her guilty pleasure is laying on your chest or being the little spoon.
She just likes the feeling of being held by the only person she's ever loved.
This ended up being A LOT longer than expected. Sorry (not really) y'all, went on a tangent.

Black Magic
Tumblr media
Clarisse La Rue x Daughter of Hecate!Reader
Summary: Brewing potions and matchmaking is a fun but not much fun as admiring the infallible Clarisse La Rue.
Warnings: KISSING. (i noticed that almost all of my requests had this warning :P )
Author's Note: I'M BACK WITH MY LAPTOP! AND I'LL TAKE A DAY OFF FROM SCHOOL SINCE IM TIRED FROM TRAVELING BUT HERE I AM! I DO HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS.
__
You loved the smell of brewing potion.
As a child of Hecate, you and your half siblings were often known as witches and matchmakers at camp. But still, some campers looked you in the eye and would call you a freak, Boasting about how their godly parent were part of the olympians, pointing at your mother's lack of place beside the Olympians.
Still, you've got a queue of campers (Mostly girls) waiting outside your cabin, The first ones left your workshop with a big smile on their faces or clutching their best friend whispering excitedly.
you and your siblings don't exactly share the same power for your mother had blessed you with different, but divine powers, and sure enough, you got foreseeing.
But some also left with a distraught expression and muttering a string of curses at you...It's not your fault that that their crushes aren't interested in them! You're just a fortune teller!
__
"B-but this is a mistake! I love Presley! your magic is wrong!" Cried a girl from the aphrodite cabin, tears streaming down her cheeks, smudging her mascara, You gave her a sympathetic look before sighing.
"That's not what it said here..." You looked down at your cauldron with purple-ish pink bubbling liquid, The Boy, who you assumed was presley, had another girl in his arms, twirling her around as they dance into a romantic song. The aphrodite girl stormed away furiously, purposely knocking down several of your stacked candles and jars full of ingredients.
Then, You saw the girl bump into someone, It was Clarisse. The girl frowned, but then gulped when she saw Clarisse staring back at her.
The moment Clarisse saw you, her eyes soften a little bit, her lips curling into a smile as she watched you get flustered.
"Hey"
"Hey" You blushed as you hid your face in a book.
"Can i try?" Clarisse asked.
"Try what?" You raised your brow, staring at her carefully, The cauldron separating you two in between.
"That fortune potion thingy, I wanna know who i'd end up with" Her words made your heart break a little bit, You had a big crush on clarisse la rue the moment you stepped inside camp, and now here she is, you crush asking you to foresee her future with someone else.
You swallowed your disappointment and anger before nodding, your face frowning a little bit as you set your book down and grabbed a pair of scissors.
"I need a piece of your hair" You said, Clarisse then grabbed the scissors and cut a decent amount of hair.
She watched you carefully, her brown eyes glinting with admiration as you recited latin and greek spells before dropping her hair into the cauldron, the smoke started rising and the liquid started bubbling, at first, you thought your eyes deceived you, you saw yourself with clarisse, sitting under a tree your back leaned against hers as you two laughed, hands intertwined as the sun rays hit you two.
you became breathless, your body stiff, Clarisse was confused, her dark brows raised as she scanned your expression.
"Oh my gods, please don't tell me it's Chris Rodriguez" She said, she secretly hoped it would be you, the thought of chris rodriguez and her being all lovey dovey made her sick.
When she peaked into the cauldron, She felt victory, joy, ecstasy she couldn't describe it. Every happy emotions filling her as she watched herself and you in the cauldron, laughing while kissing each other's cheeks lovingly.
You became speechless while watching Clarisse's eyes beam with joy, You two stared at each other for a moment before the Ares girl took the matters to her hands and kissed you.
It took you a moment to process what's going on. Then you find yourself kissing her back, pulling her closer as her breasts pressed against yours.
You two were then interrupted by the sound of the door opening, you two quickly pulled away and stepped back. Clarisse pretended to look around while you improvised some words to save you and Clarisse from being caught.
Your half sister, Lou Ellen looked at you and Clarisse before going to her trunk, rummaging into her things.
"I'll have your strengthening draught ready by tomorrow" You blurted at clarisse, You looked at her and she stared back before nodding.
"Of course" She whispered.
As she left, You saw her wink at you cheekily before closing the door.
"What's that ares girl doing here?" Lou Ellen asked.
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing at all" You whispered, still feeling her lingering touch.
A/N: THIS IS AMAZING OMG!!! I TRIED MY BEST TO MAKE IT MORE WITCHY AND STUFF BUT I HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS!!

plss im so in love w diors clarisse,,, maybe smth with her showing off during capture the flag for r,,,
clarisse showing off during capture the flag clarisse la rue x reader a/n: so this was kinda a drabble kinda a fic idk it's longer than i meant for it to be but i like it so i'm not mad. honestly this y/n is kinda hecate!child coded so you can read it like that but i didn't specify the godly parent so you can imagine her however you want (: taglist: @asvterias @lvrue @thewritingbarbie @kroumi (let me know if you want to be on my taglist or if you want to be removed!)
y/n and clarisse had been dancing around each other romantically for months now.
y/n was a new camper, and had arrived during the winter months, when there were very few campers still there. her mortal parent had died at the same time the monsters started finding her. thankfully, her satyr protector managed to get her to camp in one piece. with a few scratches, yes, but ultimately safe.
during the winter, when there were only a limited amount of people to be around, y/n found herself gravitating towards clarisse la rue, an ares kid.
the other campers had warned y/n away from clarisse, claiming that she was mean and angry and was a hard person to be around. she was dependable in battle, according to them, but other than that, they all tended to steer clear of her.
y/n wasn't finding that that was her experience with clarisse, though.
whenever she was with clarisse, she was gentle and kind and funny, and y/n found herself wanting to be with her at any and all times of the day.
since camp didn't experience weather the same way the outside world did, there were a few times during the winter when the rules were more lax due to the smaller amount of campers, they snuck away from their respective cabins and camped in the woods. it became a thing that was special to the two of them, time for them to just be with each other.
it was those camping trips that y/n started thinking that maybe her relationship with clarisse was a bit more complicated than just a friendship.
unbeknownst to y/n, clarisse had practically fallen in love with y/n the second she laid eyes on her.
the two were inseparable, practically attached at the hip. it was pretty much common knowledge at this point within camp that if you could see one of them, the other was close by.
capture the flag.
one of the most fun days of camp half blood, and also the most serious at the same time.
a day where campers with beef could be on opposite teams and duke out their problems with each other without consequence, but mostly just a day for one team to capture the flag of the other's, and have bragging rights for the next twelve months until the next capture the flag day came around.
clarisse loved playing capture the flag at camp.
it was definitely mostly because she was a daughter of ares, the god of war, and she felt most confident in herself with her magic spear in hand, wearing armor, and stabbing at someone.
a strange way to feel the most confident, but it was.
y/n had never seen clarisse on a capture the flag day, and she was really on board with it.
clarisse looked really good wearing her battle armor, holding her magic spear so carefully, and yet throwing it around with so much confidence.
she could barely takes her eyes off her.
thankfully, y/n and clarisse's cabins had both been placed on the same team (which may or may not be because clarisse had begged chiron for this, but who's to say?), so clarisse was going to be able to work with y/n and not against her.
that would've been awkward....
when clarisse was coming up with the plan for capture the flag last week, mysteriously, the plan started revolving around her and y/n being together at all times.
strange... how things pan out....
when one of her siblings pointed this out, clarisse made sure to fix them with a glare so full of malice they turned away and didn't make any more comments.
as clarisse looked down at her battle plan, she started imagining herself taking down the blue team members with ease, and standing in the background was y/n, swooning over her.
"so, what's our game plan?"
her voice caught clarisse totally off guard, causing her to whip around quickly. clarisse had been shocked out of her mind so suddenly that it took her a few seconds to register what was in front of her.
it was y/n. in battle armor for capture the flag. and she was obsessed with it.
during the winter months, there aren't really any reason for campers to wear their armor, unless obviously there's an attack on the camp, but since there hadn't been any over the winter when she had come to camp, there had been no reason to.
clarisse was sure it had something to do with her father being the god of war, but seeing her wearing camo pants a breastplate, with a sword at her side made her look even more beautiful to clarisse.
"do you... like it?" she asked, a slight teasing lilt to your voice.
clarisse snapped herself out of it, realizing that she had taken a bit more time than she intended to examine y/n's outfit.
"y-yeah, you look... you look amazing, y/n," a small smile passed onto clarisse's face. she mentally cursed herself for stuttering. who even was she? not a person who stuttered, she had thought.
but there was just something about y/n that challenged everything clarisse had thought about herself.
y/n blushed slightly at the compliment, but managed to regain her composure quickly. "thanks," the two shared a small smile. "seriously though, what's our game plan? where am i gonna be?"
clarisse beamed at your interest in the battle plan, and quickly did a run down with her. she mentioned as casually as she could that the two of them would be together the whole time pretty much, with practically no time apart.
the conch sounded, and then everything went into action.
clarisse did her usual hunt of the red team part of the woods, and with y/n at her side, it made her all the more determined to find someone to fight with.
as the two were prowling the woods (or really, clarisse was prowling, and y/n was walking alongside her, admiring the beauty of the woods), y/n stopped suddenly, letting out a loud and dramatic gasp.
clarisse immediately activated her spear and started looking around frantically in search of the danger, and was confused when she found none.
she looked curiously over at where y/n was, and saw her kneeling on the ground in front of a patch of wildflowers, looking at it with childlike wonder in her eyes.
clarisse let out a relieved sigh that everything was okay, and no one from blue team was trying to take y/n as a hostage, but then she became confused.
"what are you doing?" clarisse asked, coming up behind her.
y/n reached forward silently, and quickly plucked one of the white wildflowers from the ground. she stood up facing clarisse, and then stepped towards her. the two were now incredibly close, their noses practically touching, their breaths mingling.
all the air left clarisse's lungs.
with a soft smile on her face, she gently tucked the wildflower behind clarisse's ear.
neither of them knew what to say next. this was such an intimate gesture, such a gentle act that clarisse had never experienced the likes of before. her life had been full of anger and violence, and this moment right here was something new. something... exciting.
this moment was so very y/n, and clarisse loved it.
unfortunately, the moment was broken by the sound of a twig snapping behind them. clarisse rolled her eyes at the blue team members that had undoubtedly thought they were being very sneaky.
clarisse couldn't control the slight smirk that was slowly forming at the thought of showing off her fighting skills in front of y/n, though, so she guessed it wasn't all too bad.
for the cherry on top, clarisse winked at y/n, before spinning around and stabbing the chestplate of one of the blue team members that had attempted to sneak up on the two of them.
the battle was loud and exciting and over quickly, since the two blue team kids were pretty good at sword fighting, but were no match for clarisse and her spear.
once clarisse had defeated them and the kids had surrendered, she turned back to y/n with a smirk on her face.
y/n approached clarisse slowly. she took in her face quietly for any injuries, and gently assessed a small cut she'd sustained from one of the other kids swords before she'd knocked it out of his hand.
y/n's eyes then went to the wildflower still somehow tucked into clarisse's ear. it was askew slightly, so her hand went up to adjust it, making sure it was secure, before her hand landed on clarisse's cheek.
"impressive," was all she said, a large smile on her face.
clarisse smiled widely as well, and couldn't help feeling triumphant.

"y/n!" clarisse called out angrily.
the said person turned around, halting conversation with their siblings. their brows were raised, wide eyes seemingly innocent but betraying a glint of mischief. "yes?"
clarisse shoved aside a passing hermes kid, stopping close enough for her to see every detail on your pretty face.
"where is it?" she growled, voice dangerously low. she's a couple inches taller than you so you had to look up to meet her eyes, but your gaze didn't waver. the ruckus she'd caused called on the attention of the other campers, their curious eyes watching.
you tilted your head in mock confusion. "where is what, clarisse?"
she muttered a curse. if you were going to act dumb, then she might as well treat you like you were. "my spear, l/n." she enunciated every syllable slowly. "the spear from my father. i know you took it, so where is it?"
to her annoyance, you only laughed. intimidation and threats never seemed to work on you, which was unfortunate for her, since those were her strengths. "i'm being completely honest when i say i have no idea."
clarisse's nostrils flared, her arms swiftly pulling you up by the collar. "if i find out you're lying to me, l/n, if you're using your magic on any of my belongings, i will make you wish a monster had gotten to you instead."
you stared back with amusement decorating your features. she huffed before roughly letting go and pushing past you. as she walked away to interrogate other people, she heard you call her name.
"you want magic, clarisse?" she turned around to catch you blowing her a kiss. "i'll give you magic."
she turned red when nearby aphrodite girls started to giggle, and your siblings — other children of hecate — patted you on the back, laughing. she will not tolerate being the butt of a joke.

you're messing with her head.
clarisse had been awake for hours since lights out, and all she could think of was you. not in that way of course — she would never think of you as more than another annoying camper. she could almost understand mr. d. almost.
but she couldn't shake off the gnawing feeling of discomfort creeping every slowly up her spine. were you threatening her? there was no way you would've actually put a spell on her — right?
she turned in her bed, envying her siblings who were all fast asleep. curse you, she thought to herself. how dare you, of all people, threaten her? clarisse la rue, daughter of ares, drakon-slayer?
it doesn't matter. you only want to see her uneasy, she's sure of it.
Tumblr media
the next morning clarisse refused to even look your way. unfortunately, it proved to be difficult. you were like a planet whose gravitation pull was too strong to resist.
she glanced at you from time to time, caught you looking back, then tore her gaze away, feeling her ears burn.
she felt... giddy. because she looked at you and you looked at her with a smile and she felt the urge to smile back but turned away to hide it and—
and she was being stupid. no, she couldn't show any signs of weakness, couldn't let you know how you affect her. after all, it was a silly little joke (at least she hoped it was a joke), and it was only her mind subconsciously making her feel that way.
this went on for a couple of weeks — the constant exchanged glances followed by clarisse's denial, the refusal to remain in a room with you for longer than 5 minutes. she'd had so much practice manipulating herself that she might as well have charmspeak... that didn't work.
if only she'd been aware of her surroundings she'd have noticed you staring at her in concern — and maybe a little longing, too. her new behavior didn't go unnoticed by you, and, eventually, basically everyone else.
she felt eyes on her as she walked to the arena, not knowing whether that was you or another camper or whoever else. she refused to lift her gaze, too, until she bumped into someone's chest.
"chin up, sister," a boy's voice spoke. "your crown is slipping."
ah. sherman. clarisse met his eyes and raised a questioning eyebrow. "what, sherman?"
"you were distracted during breakfast." his eyebrows were raised, too, but more from surprise at her sudden hostility.
"was not," clarisse snapped, walking around him.
sherman blocked her, again. she rolled her eyes. "was too."
"drop it, okay?" she sighed. "i want to train."
"to impress?"
"what?"
"let's say i heard about a little incident..." sherman starts, "from a birdie named lou ellen. something about you and... y/n?"
clarisse's lip lifted into a sneer. it would've morphed into a slight smile upon the mention of your name, but fortunately she had enough control of her facial features. "and what about it? i made a mistake," she wiggled the spear in her hand, "it wasn't them. i left. not a big deal."
"mmm, but that wasn't all. something about a blushing daughter of ares...?"
ugh. "get out of the way or i'll impale you."
sherman raised his hands in surrender. "geez, okay." he moved to walk past her, but laid a hand on her shoulder. "just a little something, sis... i'm not a kid of aphrodite, nor am i saying i know anything about, you know, attraction, but... it's not a sign of weakness, you know? everyone falls at some point — or, most."
i don't want to.
"you're telling me this why?" clarisse scowled.
sherman only smiled in response. "i can be observant too."
Tumblr media
clarisse was getting tired.
honestly, it was a constant battle with herself at this point. telling herself to look away, to repress a smile, to avoid. sherman's words, too, gave her more things to think about.
attraction. falling. for...
..y/n? ha! impossible.
but then why had you been the first one to pop into her mind? and.. it didn't seem so bad. after all, she'd grown to look forward to playful banter with you — at least, it was playful on her end.
she was sitting on her bed, sharpening the tip of her spear as she thought about nothing but everything, when another one of her siblings called her from the door. "visitor," was the simple reply when she asked who.
so she came, resisting the urge to slam the door and dive under her covers when she came face to face with you.
"can we talk?"
you seemed nervous — worried, even. your brows were pinched and a small frown sat on your lips. you didn't meet her eyes, very unlike the day when you—
well. when had she started noticing these things?
"about?"
"about the thing..." your eyes drifted off to somewhere behind her, "...in private."
her brain was screaming at her: no! no! turn back and say you're busy, anything but alone with her!
but her heart — ugh, something an aphrodite girl would say — told her to follow, to hear you out, to listen. so, she did.
she followed you into the forest, not too deep but not out in the open enough for someone to overhear.
"so." you started.
"so."
a little twitch at the corner of your mouth. or maybe it had been her imagination.
"i'm sorry."
now that she didn't expect. "what for?"
"you seem so- so different. i mean, you don't terrorize the younger kids anymore-"
"i don't terrorize the kids-"
"-and you're quiet. which is weird for you. not saying you're, like, talkative or anything but you've always been... loud."
she could've sworn she heard you mutter, "and i liked that."
"i just kinda thought it was my fault, since, you know," you went on, "i teased you that day. maybe i'd gone too far — love magic isn't something to joke about, after all-"
"it was a joke?" clarisse cut you off.
"what?"
"it was a joke?" she repeated.
"yes..?" you trailed off, confused as to why she looked worried rather than relieved. "are you not, like, happy?"
clarisse was frozen. if you didn't put a spell on her, then what had she been feeling?
"clarisse?"
oh, no. it couldn't be — there's no way she could actually like you, is there?
"'risse?"
oh but there is, because she did — or did she? looking at you staring up at her without issues acting as a barrier, she saw the y/n she thought about at night instead of the y/n she fought with during the day.
she noticed how pretty your eyes really are looking at her only, how smoke — or was it mist? — seemed to curl off from the tips of your hair, how your lip quirked downwards as you raised a perfect hand to wave in front of her face, and maybe, just maybe, she can deal with the fact that—
"i like you," she blurted out. okay, maybe that could've come out better, but she almost smirked at the look on your face.
"you're not serious."
"i am!" clarisse insisted, getting a tiny bit defensive. she'd worked up the courage to say that — well, blurt it out — and you were just going to brush it off?
"okay, you are! you do!" you're smiling now. but not in a way that suggested that you were going to tease her for it, it was a good kind of smile. a happy smile. a nice smile... "i thought you hated me though."
what! okay, maybe the banter didn't come off as playful as she'd intended.
"i don't."
"i know that now." you reached out a little hesitantly for her hand, taking it gently. "i like you too, really. i just didn't think i'd have a chance."
clarisse blushed a little from the contact and the words she said next. "well- well, you do. because.. because i just told you. that... yeah."
"can i kiss you?"
if it were possible clarisse went even redder. she gave a curt nod, freezing up slightly when you leaned in and—
placed a kiss on her cheek. hm.
she deflated, disappointed, watching you raise an eyebrow at her unexpected reaction. "no?"
"no- i mean, yes, you can. i just expected that you—"
you cup her jaw, pulling her slightly closer to give her another kiss. a real one. chaste. quick. simple.
she loved it.
you pulled away only to find her grinning, surprised yet again when she hugged you — a rare form of physical affection from the ares girl.
"you don't need to put a spell on me," she murmured. "you've always been enough."
"cheesy."
"shut up."

Bewitched
Lucifer x Witch!Reader
PART 1, PART 2
In the hushed elegance of the hotel's lobby, Lucifer encountered a guest whose presence whispered of untold tales and hidden depths, sparking a curiosity that ignited the very air around them.
As Lucifer hurried through the halls of his daughters' newly renovated hotel, a sense of pride swelled within him. The gleaming corridors and vibrant atmosphere were a testament to their hard work. Yet, amidst his contentment, fate had other plans as he collided with someone in the hallway.
Stumbling slightly, Lucifer managed to maintain his balance, clutching onto his hat as he looked up to meet the gaze of a strikingly beautiful woman. With golden eyes that seemed to hold untold depths and raven hair cascading around her shoulders, she exuded an air of elegance that captivated Lucifer's attention.
"Oh, my apologies. I was in a bit of a rush," Lucifer apologized, feeling slightly flustered by the unexpected encounter.
However, instead of reproach, the woman responded with a gentle bow, her hand resting over her heart in a gesture of respect. Lucifer couldn't help but be taken aback by her gracefulness.
"You didn't have to bow, my dear. It was I who wasn't watching where I was going," Lucifer replied, attempting to regain his composure.
With a soft smile, the woman gestured towards her mouth, drawing Lucifer's attention to the stitched seam that sealed her lips shut. Concern flickered in Lucifer's eyes as he realized the extent of her condition.
"Why is your mouth sewn shut?" Lucifer inquired, his voice tinged with sympathy.
The woman's eyes held a mixture of sadness and resignation as she gestured to indicate that she had died with her lips stitched. Lucifer's heart sank at the thought of the suffering she must have endured.
"Do you understand sign language?" she asked, her gestures careful and deliberate.
Regrettably, Lucifer shook his head, feeling a pang of guilt for his inability to communicate with her more effectively.
Their conversation continued through gestures, and Lucifer learned that the woman had died in 1420 at the tender age of 25. The realization hit him like a wave, filling him with a profound sense of sadness for the centuries she had spent in silence.
Despite her plight, the woman maintained a serene demeanor, urging Lucifer not to pity her. Her resilience left him in awe, admiring her strength in the face of adversity.
As their interaction drew to a close, the woman's teasing smile reminded Lucifer of his initial haste.
"You were in a hurry, weren't you?" she teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Lucifer glanced at his watch, realizing that he had indeed lost track of time. With a sheepish grin, he acknowledged his tardiness.
"Yes, it seems I was. But before I go, may I ask your name?" Lucifer inquired, curious to know more about the enigmatic woman before him.
In response, the woman gestured for a notebook, which Lucifer quickly produced from his pocket. With elegant strokes of the pen, she wrote her name before handing it back to him.
"Y/N Hecate," Lucifer read aloud, feeling a shiver run down his spine at the mention of the infamous witch's name from centuries past. Looking up to the woman, she was nowhere to be found. Like she had disappeared in thin air.
As he made his way to his room, Lucifer couldn't shake the feeling of intrigue that lingered in the air. The encounter with Y/N Hecate had left an indelible mark on him, igniting a curiosity that burned brighter than ever before.
Welp.. Idk anymore
