hold tight to faith

Sunday I enjoyed sharing with our church a message from our theme of HE>i from the book of Hebrews.  We talked about how Jesus is greater than everything.  Specifically He is greater than the angels, greater than Moses, greater than Joshua and greater than Aaron.

Answer this… what have you made great than Jesus in your life?  That is a tough and telling question.  Answer that and figure out why you feel alone at some points in your life.  

The book of Hebrews has some incredible truth from the first to the last chapter with a huge portion being in chapters 11 and 12.  But the crux of the book are these two verses:

Hebrews 10:23-24  NLT

Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, 

How do we make Jesus greater?  We become less.  We make more of Him, believe Him, share Him with others and spend time with Him.  It will make a difference.  In fact whatever is great in your life will take your time and energy.  

In those verses we are encouraged to hold tight to our faith.  Too many people run from faith or deny faith because of so many reasons.  That is reason for us to hold tight to what we believe.  When we hold tight, we encourage others to hold on tight as well.

Then God says to help others by pressing them, and us, on to love and good deeds.  I firmly believe that we are acting in faith and living for God and holding tightly to what we believe when we love and serve others.

John 15:13  NLT

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

That is why we love.  Jesus did that for us.  

Matthew 5:16  NASB

Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Show others what faith looks like.  May we this week help so many see that living with God is something that will change their life, their minds and hearts and make a difference for eternity!

In my life, photography has been the tool i get to use to praise God for his creativity. ⠀ ⠀ When I feel stuck in life- I get to pick up my camera, go out in nature and rediscover God's creativity.⠀ ⠀ I have never made images to brag about the places I've been or to show what I am capable of achieving. I don't care about how many followers I get from my posts (heck I have a hard enough time remembering to put something on here most days in the first place) ⠀ ⠀ I make images because it's how I best praise God. When I praise God in this way, my perspective on whatever situation I am stuck in is elevated. So I have been living by the quote “Hurry up and Wait!” recently. I hate waiting, I am a very impatient person. Sometimes in life you have to do things you suck at to suck at them less, whether by choice or by necessity. In the weight room, it is by choice. However in this case it is by necessity. Fastest way to lose weight is to stop eating all together! I fasted for 28 hours yesterday, from 7pm on Thursday to 11 pm on Friday night (not by choice, doctors orders). But I’m sure I lost some weight! • Definitely ease into fasting if you’re going to try it but I think fasting is a great tool if you are trying to lose weight. Fasting for 16 hours is my ideal time.
