-My dear, my love, my life, I would die a thousand deaths for you
-I only need you to live a single life. Here, by my side
Behind a pillar, Paris cries. Both are truths and both are lies. Fate is so incredibly unkind.
-I would conquer the world for you, lay it at your feet
-Think of me, when you can, and that will be enough
-The meaning of love is you
And Love’s little champion knows, it will never, never, be enough. Love is war, love is death, love is cruel. Love will tear them all apart and they will remain in the center of it all. Unburned, unblemished but broken all the same. Love will never let them go. Fate will tear them apart, and it will hurt until it all ends. It will hurt until it burns and then it will fester.
It started with him, it will not end with him. But that is a lie is it not? He is not the end, but he is the start of it. No aristos achaion, only cunning tricks. He was the start, but it started long before. A godly promise after the impossible choice. Goddesses scorned, two, three. Who would ask for strife or discord? Who did it start with, who shall end it?
Love’s little champion knows, it will not, not truly. He breaks, and hardens again. The war is not over, and Love is calling for her little champion. She was a war goddess once.

This was my final project for a Mythological Receptions and Adaptations course where I adapted the Apollo sections of the Iliad to explore his POV and feelings during it
I wanted to focus on the struggle of not being able to change the outcome of something you know will happen and also his bond with Hector of Troy

Just learnt about The Blues of Achilles by Joe Goodkin (a music album based on the iliad) and I’m screaming
The man who killed my father said / “Go and wait for me in bed” / You know the face that launched the ships / But do you know the slave with trembling lips? — Woman of the War (Briseis’ song)
LIKE HELLO??
And the rivers run red with our humanity — The War Lullaby (Achilles on the Battlefield)
Our son, our son, our son / Will never feel your light / He has your hair and eyes / May he also have your might — My Love (Andromache mourns Hector)
Blood will never make us whole / But I’ll fight until its rivers flow / And soak the ground that made you a ghost / And kill the man who took your soul / I’ve got grief as deep as the love that we shared / I’ve got pain as dark as the night / When you fell in the dust, I fell with you — Wrong From Right (Achilles Learns of Patroclus’ Death)
My love, my love, my love / Don’t you be afraid / I’ll be home before you know / Everything will be okay / My son, my son, my son / I hate to say goodbye / I’ll be back when the sun goes down / To sing you a lullaby — The Goodbye Lullaby (Hector Says Goodbye to His Family)
This is how it feels / I am a golden field of grain / Cut down by a farmer ‘til nothing remains / I am a field of grain — This is How It Feels (Chryseis’ Song)
Desired by many but loved by few / […] / In my heart I will bury shame / Like in my face I carry fame / When the war is done will I be the same / Did I leave or was I taken? / Does it really matter to the graves of / All the souls and the bodies they’ve forsaken / If I left or I was taken — Taken (Helen’s song)
So I’ll bathe your son’s body / Until it’s clean of dirt and sand / And with the tears you’ve left behind here / I’ll wash the grief off of my hands — Grief of My Hands (Achilles to Priam)
Now my tears finally release / To crash like waves upon the shore / Will they sow the seeds of peace? / Or will they grow the ghosts of war? — Somebody Loved (Reprise) [Hecuba Mourns Her Son]

thinking about hektor's child not recognising him in his helmet like how fucking potent is that metaphor? the way war made him unrecognisable? the way a child could not see their father in such a light? AUGH.

you've spoken before about disliking when talia gets characterised as a "tiger mom", so i was wondering what your preferred depiction of talia as a mother would be?
this is one of those times where i regret not tagging things bc i used to have an ask addressing this but it's probably ancient by now lol. personally i want to see a talia who really struggles with motherhood due to the fallout of losing out on the opportunity to actually be one in the first place. obv the loss is initially devastating, but she spends the next handful of canon years utterly removed from that responsibility and with the liberty to only have to worry about herself. that forms a huge part of why walking away from ra's is at least somewhat easier than it might have been had she been raising a child under him. talia is beholden to no one and can dive headfirst into her own pursuit of the ideals she wants to see realized in the world. her duty to those ideals entails isolation, exhaustion, and misery, but she's willing to bear all of that if it means she reaches her end goal. and i think taking someone so deeply entrenched in her own sense of duty to the world and suddenly revealing to her that she has a child who needs to be taken care of would be.. really hard? bc talia isn't like bruce. she wouldn't drop everything for that child. she refused to do so in the first place when she saw bruce jeopardizing his duty to the mask in son of the demon. talia would try to be a good mother in the sense that she is emotionally available and supportive and intellectually stimulating. but she's not going to be the mother who looks between the two options of saving the world and raising her child, and chooses the latter. she would try to balance the two however she could, but she would never give up her duty for the sake of only being a mother and to go even further doing that duty would be critical to her definition of motherhood. like this is who we are; this is what we do; if i don't show my child that we have responsibilities to the world bc of the privilege and power available to us, who am i? and that to me could set up a way more interesting clash between her and bruce bc in the aftermath of what he has been through with the first three robins and bruce's general overprotectiveness of his child in son of the demon i seriously do not believe bruce would do anything short of everything in his power to shield damian from vigilantism completely

#2 of my brain rots for Hektor-centric fics
———————————————————————
Here me out, we are all vibrating with suspense while waiting for Hades 2. So why not throw Hektor in the mix?
Apollo literally favored him so much (Hektor’s his blorbo) that after he almost dies to one of the Ajaxes (but is saved from the brink of death by zeus) in book 14 & 15, he helps him out (although he was ordered to), heals him, and leads the charge. There are so many times that Apollo saved his life it’s not even funny. Also, when Achilles does the whole “I’m going to destroy this guy’s body” thing, Apollo literally shames the other gods for letting it happen. Everyone agreed with him except for Hera, Athena, and Poseidon. (I’m pretty sure.)
So, if Apollo is helping out Melinoë and Co….he could probably bring Hektor into this. Based on what we know so far, we can figure out that Melionë is probably going to some sort of witch school. And Hektor is the brother of Cassandra. And she probably is at this school too.
Imagine Apollo going over to Hacate and just being like: “I know your teaching speciality is magic, but what if you teach Melinoe some purely physical fighting too?” And Hacate going: “I hate that you have a point.”
And then Apollo just yoinks Hektor away from the underworld. (If only for a little bit at a time.) By just kicking the door in and rushing into where he is, jumpscaring him while kind of explaining what he needs to do.
So what if when Hektor gets there, he meets Moros and Nemesis and they almost immediately decide that he’s now their little skrunkly wet cat and just get a bit protective of him or something. Which would be hilarious because he met his doom (Moros) because Achilles wanted revenge (Nemesis). So he wouldn’t be very happy with this arrangement.
And he would be an amazing teacher. And there’s no way he didn’t somehow have a purpose in is siblings training. Also, what if one of his first lessons he tells Melinoë is this: “Yes you can let rage, anger, or wrath fuel you, but never let it blind you.”
Let Melinoë adopt him as her honorary uncle or something. Have her be told by Hektor about the Trojan war, have her be taught that sometimes you have no control over something, have her be taught calming techniques and strategies, have her be taught strategies for fighting and ways to survive in politics, have her meet Hektor’s family, have her decide to punch Odysseus (or Achilles son) for killing Scamandrius, have her decide to kick Achilles (or his son) in the dick, and have her do that while understanding that —yes they did some wrong doing— but it wasn’t completely their fault.
Let Zagreus meet Melinoë’s honorary uncle and respect him and try to find a way to repay him for helping his sister and helping save the House when Hektor has no need for (in his opinion) repayment because he doesn’t know how much he matters. Let Melinoë try to do the same thing but not now how to. Let Thanatos feel kinda worried about how to interact with him due to all the deaths that occurred during the war and that he wasn’t the one that reaped him. (It was Hermès LMAO!)
Let the House be shocked because, they were not expecting a mortal shade to help with this. Let alone one who is, well, used to be from Troy.
Perhaps Hektor gets a promotion.
———————————————————————
And that’s my idea of Hektor somewhat unwillingly stopping Kronos.

Astyanax, was thrown down from that tower, from which he used to see his father, Hector, whom Andromache, his mother, pointed out to him, as Hector fought for him, and protected the ancestral kingdom.

Very sweet and at the same time horny idea for a little SicIre Drabble.
I've forgotten which Martial poem it was, but the one where he basically tells his lover that he doesn't want a prude and there's a mention of Odysseus & Penelope (among other couples) and how she kept her hand in that spot (I assume his dick) even when he slept. I thought about SicIre getting more and more intimate in the bedroom and one night Michele asks if they want to spoon. And if Harry wants to be the little spoon. And when the answer to both is yes, Michele slips his arm around him and cuddles up to him before he gently puts his hand on his cock and recites that line of poetry.
