inspired by professionalchaoticdumbass and status-quo-hater. idk if this is a little different given that most of the time my physical disability is visible - mobility aids, joint braces, etc.

"have you tried x?" - 4/10. well meaning but maybe think for a second. if you're thinking about this possible solution within seconds of learning about my conditions perhaps i've already considered it in the years i've been sick.

"maybe you should see a doctor about that." - 2/10. i've seen so. freaking. many.

"oh, okay." - 7/10. thank you so much for being normal

"i got sick for a couple months once/i broke a bone and was on crutches once. i know how you feel." - 1/10 no you dont

"it's just because youre doing x behaviour i think is unhealthy." - -5/10 fuck off

"me too!" - 100/10. hell yeah

"you're too young to have that." - 1/10. you're too old to be this ignorant

"i'm sooooo sorry!!!!!" - 3/10. appreciate a little sympathy because it does suck sometimes but this also feels condescending and super icky (also i get this one like by FAR the most often 💀)

any sort of clarifying question - 5/10. 50/50 chance this is genuine interest or horribly invasive

I have been informed that Majd, the little boy of Khadiga and Yousef, is in IMMEDIATE need of medicine. If you are not aware, their son has been severely ill with respiratory disease for several months. He requires constant care, and it is very stressful and costly for a family that can barely feed themselves or find other necessities.

The family has informed me that this adds a thousand euros to their expenses, an immense amount for a family without income and one that needs to be raised very quickly. Please donate any amount you can, the larger the better.

Tl;dr - help a homeless, displaced family with a child in the ICU

Youssef and Khadija @youseffamily @khadigayousef2025 have already been in dire straits. As you may or may not know, their little son Majd has a life threatening respiratory illness and needs round-the-clock care to survive. On top of this, getting not only healthcare but even the most basic necessities of food and water is incredibly difficult and expensive for displaced families in Gaza.

Now, their tent has been burned by a recent bombing and there is nowhere to go. A new tent will be $1500 at the very least. Khadija was additionally injured by the bombing, and needs medical care.

33,921 euros have been raised on the campaign so far, with a goal of 50K!

As mentioned above proceeds will go to basic necessities for survival, getting a new tent for shelter, and lifesaving medical care for a young boy. Eventually they hope to use funds to get to a safe location, away from violence and danger.

The family's campaign was previously reblogged by Ahmed of @ 90-ghost and shared by @ ibitisams, plus donations are protected. I myself donated 10 euros and am planning on giving at least 5 more. Match my donation and you can request a drawing from me!

I can’t wait for when the X-men find out where Kurt has been in my fic because Evan’s crash out will be glorious, can you blame him? Kurt has been missing for weeks and Evan’s been internally freaking out that Kurt might be dead at this point only to find out this whole time he was with Pietro fucking Maximoff. Yeah I’d crash out too.

Chinastuck: the beta kids

tl;dr for the uninitiated: what if all homestuck characters were chinese people

John Egbert: 光勇 (Guang Yong). Lives in Beijing (im sorry /j). Han, Mongolian, and some Korean ancestry.

egbert means "bright edge" and guang means "bright" and also sounds a little like john even if its the surname. john means god is gracious, which is not really a type of name chinese people give their kids so i just went with a common masculine name that sounds good with guang: yong, which means "brave" which i thought was fitting. i think dad egbert definitely calls them by the diminutive yongyong.

June Egbert might choose the name 小玉 (Xiaoyu), meaning "little jade", in reference to her sister.

Rose Lalonde: 刘秀兰 (Liu Xiulan). Lives somewhere in Jiangsu, probably Shanghai. Hmong, Jewish Han, and Kazakh ancestry.

i literally just went with a random common surname that vaguely sounded like lalonde here. xiulan means elegant orchid, so it's a flower name like rose and i think it fits her vibes. she shares the character xiu with roxy's name, tianxiu.

transmasc rose probably steals his name from a book character.

rose is very similar to canon i think, except she lives in a penthouse in central shanghai. i want to say initially she feels her heritage doesn't matter to her but later in life she tries to reconnect with not being "100% han".

Dave Strider: 赵大伟 (Zhao Dawei). Lives in Chongqing. Hmong, Jewish Han, and Kazakh ancestry (same as Rose).

zhao has a similar meaning to strider and was also a surname of the emperors so it has a connection to royalty. this works for both the lotr reference and king david. dawei is... a generic chinese boys name thats the name you give your kid if you want their english name to be david. it means "extraordinary".

david means "beloved" and every single chinese name like that is feminine. Dove Strider takes this as inspiration for the name Xinyan, spelled either 心燕 meaning "beloved swallow" or 心焱 meaning "beloved flame" instead of the more conventional 心妍 meaning "beloved beauty".

dave struggles with their cultural heritage more actively than rose does, and thus leans hard into their sichuanese identity. i headcanon them as making fun of chengdu (chongqing's rival in representing the cultural center of sichuan) in addition to making fun of northern chinese culture. SICHUAN RAHH

Jade Harley: 林玉平 (Lin Yuping). Lives in rural Shaanxi. Han, Mongolian, and some Korean ancestry (same as John).

lin has similar meaning to both harley and halley, meaning grove/forest. yuping means "peaceful jade".

Jude Harley might choose the name 洋 (Yang), meaning "ocean" in the sense of expansive, or he might not feel a need to change his name. swapping names with his sibling is also a possibility.

i think her upbringing just translates to the rural northwest well? also i think its kinda cool she'd grow up near a section of the great wall of china. i could see her engaging in cultural traditions like papercutting and folk singing :> also buddhist jade real and true im not projecting trust

sure, this argument gets people who are not disabled to care about accessibility. however, it breaks down for a quite a few accommodations, especially those for more severe disabilities. ultimately we should care about accessibility not because it can also benefit non disabled people, but because disabled people are worth caring about and we have the right to participate in society to the same extent as anyone else.

This is a friendly reminder that none disabled people often do benefit from the same accommodations disabled people benefit from.

I finally bought a full set of new piercings the other day (my helix was being a bitch again), from a seller that let you pick bar length for each individual piercing. 3 days in and I cannot stress enough what a difference it has made to go from an 8mm to a 6mm bar length on my helix. It doesn't move. It doesn't hurt when I lay on it. I haven't caught my hair on it since, even when washing it.

Such a small thing has actually been a massive quality of life improvement.

If you haven't before, then go check that your piercing bars are the right length. Don't put it off for years. Save yourself the pain of a badly fitted piercing.
