Finally, here is the submission results:
PRELIMINARY POLLS WILL BE UP TUESDAY 7/25 @ 12PM EDT
tags: preliminaries matches (the actual polls, not including any reblogs) bracket info propaganda
INFO UNDER CUT
✨✨There were a couple of submissions that were openings, rather than endings, so those have been removed. (So there were 700 valid submissions, 702 total submissions)
✨✨Songs that only got 1 or 2 votes will not be advancing.
✨✨At most 2 songs per series will be allowed in the bracket.
✨✨There were five series that had more than 2 qualifying songs (Chainsaw Man, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Naruto).
✨✨There will be FOUR preliminary polls for these series. They will be a week long.
✨✨There will not be a preliminary round for Fullmetal Alchemist, because Uso and Shunkan Sentimental had many more votes than the other three submissions so I will just be putting those in the bracket automatically.
✨✨For HXH, JJBA, and Naruto, I will be putting the top voted song in the bracket, and the rest will battle to the death for the other designated spot. (I didnt do this for CSM bc it was a three way tie lol.) The endings that will be advancing for these series are:
"Hyouri Ittai" by Yuzu
"Roundabout" by Yes
"Wind" by Akeboshi
✨✨The Preliminary Polls will be:
💥Chainsaw Man (2 winners)
"Fight Song" by Eve
"First Death" by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure
"Hawatari Nioku Centi" by Maximum the Hormone
"In the Back Room" by syudou
"Tablet" by TOOBOE
"Time Left" by ZUTOMAYO
💥Hunter X Hunter (1 winner)
"Hunting For Your Dream" by Galneryus
"Just Awake" by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas
"Reason" by Yuzu
💥JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (1 winner)
"Akuyaku♢Kyousoukyoku ~ Oingo to Boingo~" by Various (Makoto Yasumura, Motoko Kumai, Hidenobu Kiuchi)
"I Want You" by Savage Garden
💥Naruto (1 winner)
"Broken Youth" by NICO Touches the Walls
"By My Side" by Hemenway
"Rainbow" by Vacuum Hollow
"U Can Do It!" by DOMINO
✨✨With the prelims, the total number of songs that will be advancing to the bracket is 62. I will not be doing any other preliminary rounds to fill in the last two spots, because I'm busy, and I really dont want to do polls for the 55 songs that got 2 votes, only for 2 spots. I will either have the bracket just be 62 songs OR i will use my godly powers to just put in two of the other songs that i like. its a surprise teehee.
✨✨The endings that are guaranteed a spot in the bracket are:

Story: Battle strategy cards;‘Stellar Charm’ One Tree Hill
One Tree Hill
‘Angel Casablancas’ and their twin sister ‘Cassidy Casablancas’ are the reigning ‘Stellar Charm Card’ champions of the city. Why? From all the students and inhabitants of the city ‘One Tree Hill’ named after the ominous forest from which the entire town surrounds, the mythos and legends surrounding the condemned huaunted forest and tree upon the top of the highest mountain in the city seems to share a grim tale about a series of suicide that concerned the towns ever budding congregation that used to meet weekly for church gatherings at the foot of the ominous tree at the very top of the ecclesiastical tree, now condemned the fellowship now meets else where disbanded and scattered after the horrific events that were the result of students jumping from the top of the building, tree and mountain falling to the their deaths at the bottom of the city beneath the mountain. Walled off and forbidden territory as the signs and gates proclaim on the walls of the forbidden forest students constantly enter in hopes of finding the lost cards of a popular card game that once reigned within the town. ‘Stellar charm cards was a game of unique personal skill and talents that required one to sing, dance and use personal talents to summon your cards constellations the power from which the cards drew from. Unbeknownst to some of the students and card users, some had more than others and the more you possessed the more powerful you were compared to some who only possed two if only even one. The losers of these card games tragically forced if not pushed to end their lives from jumping to their doom amused the congregation leader who sought posses and collect all the cards. But the two twins, secretly would go from card user to card user in private consoling them and confiding within them in order to collect their card in secret, then adding their card to their book of protection, thereby spearing that student or card user from having to suicide. If one didn’t run the Forest deadly maze a deadly obstacle course of doom and make it out alive then there was no way for one to enter the condemned forest in hopes of connecting with one of the ‘stellar sacred tree’s’ one would find in hopes of connecting their soul with a sacred trees constellation of power. Thus, how the card game was born from the now candy factory that would harvest the strange fruits the trees would produce in order to create their sacred foods the town would consume in order to bring forth the unknown power within them.

Zen! Dinner's coming sooner than I thought - we decided to order in tonight - so instead of me talking about MY OC, tell me about yours (I'll talk about Quill later \lol/ after I eat!)
🥰❤️💌😎
I will talk about another Storm Pirate!
Her name is Yara!
Yara is a former resident of a sky island and has little wings. She's outwardly demure, mostly because of her anxiety, and is reserved around new people. Though she only is herself when she feels entirely safe, her inner nature is fun-loving, stubborn, and opinionated. She has a bad stutter and suffers from chronic migraines from a traumatic brain injury she received as a teen.
Yara ate the Mythical Zoan Bunny-Bunny Fruit: Moon Rabbit model, but I'll get into that in a minute. Her weapon of choice is a giant wooden mallet.
So Yara wakes up one day in the middle of the woods with a head wound, having no recollection of who she is, where she is or how she got there, or even her own name. She wanders for a bit until she stumbles upon a white rabbit caught in a hunter's snare. She figures that the hunter who set the trap will return eventually, and waits there.
A bear sniffs out the rabbit and lumbers into the clearing, scaring them both. Yara knows she can run and the bear will eat the rabbit, but can't leave it, feeling that it's a terrible way to go. She frees the rabbit, who runs off, and the bear charges her.
A human-sized, bipedal hare wielding a giant hammer appears and smashes the bear, saving her. The white rabbit is with it, and begins to talk to her. The rabbit says he is a Moon Rabbit and the prince of the Lagomorphs and that by saving his life, she has committed a great deed.
Confused and without much choice, Yara lets the rabbit and his hare guard take her back to the Warren, an under-cloud location among the sky island that is the Moon Rabbits' home. There's a whole system of Moon Rabbits (royalty), rabbits, hares, and pikas. Her wounds are patched up, and she's taken in. With no memory of her own, the Lagomorphs adopt her, and she's revered as a hero and given a name--Yara, after one of the rabbits' ancient heroes, Yaratavi.
Yara is ritually accepted into the Moon Rabbit clan and given her Devil Fruit, which only grows on that sky island. Aside from the usual transformation and strength boosts, it gives her all the power that Moon Rabbits possess: the ability to create illusions, and the ability to warp short distances between any points that are bathed in moonlight. She also is stronger depending on the phase of the moon and how much moonlight is visible in the sky, and has accelerated recovery based on the same moonlight principles.
Yara is trained by the hare that initially saved her, a royal guard named He-Who-Races-The-Wind (Ray for short--all hare warriors have deed names like that) and becomes a warrior for the Lagomorphs.
The Storm Pirates meet her a few years later when they wind up on the Lagomorphs' sky island. Initially attacking them, she relaxes after learning that they come in peace, and take them to meet the Moon Rabbit royals, thus commencing the start of the Moon Rabbit arc of the Storm Pirates.
I haven't gotten the story figured out yet, but some important points are that: 1. big prey/predator themes, 2. The Moon Rabbits are capable of creating the fabled Elixir of Life, said to grant eternal life, and thus have been hunted by the humans of their neighboring sky island, and have strife with them. and 3. the Storm Pirates and Yara discover that the Moon Rabbits set her up. The royal Moon Rabbits sent a group on a raid into the neighboring sky island, in a mission to kill the human who was in charge of hunting the Moon Rabbits. This group included Ray. They went during the night, broke into the home, and started killing the humans inside. Ray was about to bring his hammer down on one of the humans in their bed when they woke up--the hunter's daughter. She looked at him with wide, fearful eyes, and in that second, Ray recognized that look as the look of a prey animal witnessing a predator. He hesitated too late, so instead of the hammer blow killing the girl, it instead injured her severely. Ray panicked and went against the group, saying they had to help her, and after arguing, he brings her back with them. The royalty decides they can make use of this, but will first test the human girl to see if she's worthy. They patch up her head and once she wakes up, uses illusion magic to make her think she sees a rabbit in a trap, and then a bear.
When Yara finds out the one who caused her TBI was Ray all along--who protected, mentored, and cared for her--it's a difficult moment.
In the conclusion of the Moon Rabbit Arc, Yara joins the Storm Pirates.
Her signature move is "Comet Hammer". She also has a move that she inherited from Ray, a barrage of hammer strikes called "March Madness".
In her awakened form, she grows antlers, and combined with her wings she resembles a wolpertinger.
Thanks for listening!

I am almost at the end of the Head Hunter Arc and there are a hundred story threads all running parallel so I would def have to re-read once again to fit in the sequence of events. Anyway, I will make a longer post about all my thoughts later,, but now I really really wanna get this off my chest.
warning: rant underneath, please check the tags for the subject of rant, proceed with caution—don’t come @ me if this is your favorite character
Reim died—and I did not feel a single thing. In fact, I am more frustrated he died just like that than his oh-dear-poor-guy plight being shown to me. Am I supposed to feel sorry for him? I just can’t.
He is the worst kind of character—the ones who always want to maintain the status quo, the ones who think they can get away with anything because they are on the side of self-proclaimed ‘Good’, and whatever they do is ‘needed for the greater good’.
Tumblr media
This guy single handedly, with one bullet, ruined whatever positive interactions might have occurred between the Baskervilles and the heroes (Break at least? Because Vincent, who is already working with the Baskervilles, is on... idk what side?)
I still maintain the Baskervilles were pulled into some major political conspiracy and they were forced to kill all those people in Sablier in order to ‘save’ them from getting turned into chains.
[The more the author shows me their flashbacks and how happy they were as a family—
look at them, they are the literal essence of found family ;-;—
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
shedding happy tears rn ;-; Fang, Doug and Lottie were best Dads/Big bro/Mom/Big Sis to Lily.
—the more I feel like they were never sadistic cold-blooded mass murderers in the first place.]
See, Break and Lottie were making baby steps towards coming to work together for a common cause. On their next meeting, when Break put his sword to Lottie’s throat, she, whether fearing his power and deciding to buy time or what, did make an attempt to understand him rather than trying to jump in for a fight at once.
Tumblr media
And then, when the ‘false’ Baskervilles came onto the scene, they were forced to make an unwilling alliance to defeat them albeit for a moment.
I had hoped—one more meeting and then maybe, hopefully, at least, these two would put aside their differences and misunderstandings and start working together to exchange information and unravel all the mystery of the Tragedy; in the process, the heroes start to slowly realize the true nature of the Baskervilles.
But no. Reim just had to ruin everything. He heard Lily’s story, came to the realization that Baskervilles weren’t monsters but ‘laughed just like us’, and decided... ok this child is innocent but she will definitely kill many more people in the future so let me shoot her right through her head now and finish her off.
I had been reading with a smile on my face because their interactions were so cute, the way she tried to console him and relate to him, the way she squealed on seeing the March Hare (March Hare really is cute btw)—and then, bam! I was more shocked when he ‘killed’ her than when Fang announced Reim was dead.
I can’t put this in a better way either so here we go—Reim is an idiot.
Here is a child that spills out everything unprompted if you simply humor her for a bit. She is a literal goldmine of information about the elusive Baskervilles. All you have to do is pretend-play with her that you are her ‘friend’ and she will tell you all tidbits from her life. All ‘truths’ because she has no reason to lie to a friend. “Family is good of course, but friends are good too.” She trusts her family, she trusts her friends.
Instead, what Reim does is go for the kill.
Without even understanding the basic nature of Baskervilles.
He didn’t know or even bother to find out Baskervilles could heal before playing his trump card.
Is he not Rufus Barma’s apprentice? Did he not learn a thing from the tenacious information broker, who deals with even life-and-death matters using information?
Has he never heard of the saying—half knowledge is a dangerous thing? Does he not know of buying time? Never heard of humoring someone? If she wants to see your chain, show her that, play with her till you manage to pass information to your friends and then when Break or someone strong enough to handle her hellhound arrives on scene, capture her alive, gdi! (I remember that scene from Dark Era when Dazai got frustrated that Akutagawa killed off half a dozen hopeful sources of information. Now, I understand his frustration.)
In fact, he did not even wait to hear her full story, asked a question or two, came to the conclusion that they are gonna reenact the Tragedy of Sablier—(after listening to a gullible child, btw. She is ofc gonna listen to her elders. If they say yes, then yes; if they say no, then no. How in the world do you make such a major decision after listening to the words of a child? And once again, I am not so sure if the Baskervilles indeed enacted the First Tragedy of Sablier in the first place. He is jumping to conclusions there too.)
—and shoots her through her head. Whether she died or not doesn’t matter here. She survived because of her super healing power. What matters here is that yes, Reim did have full killing intention when he shot her. Had she been a normal human, she’d have died. It was her brains that he intended to blow out. No way she was gonna survive that if she were a human.
He is the one that betrayed her budding trust. Sorry but I have no sympathy for him. If she used her chain to rip his throat, that’s on him. He shot the first bullet. Whatever she does afterwards counts as self-defense for me.
Well, here comes another idiot, Break, who doesn’t know any of this. Without even finding out what transpired there, he directly jumped in to fight against two self-healing Baskervilles all by himself, spitting blood, lost eyesight, can’t-last-too-long-in-a-battle and all as he is, in order to ‘avenge’ his friend.
Lottie, please come and talk all of this out—is what I wanted to say, because she seems the only one with brain cells among this bunch of idiots.
see, I can even draw up the parallels between the Break-Lottie 'friendship' and Reim-Lily 'friendship'.
When Break offered her to be his ‘friend’ (Break being a way more powerful opponent compared to Lottie, she was completely overpowered and at his mercy), she got through alright. Even on their second meeting when Break wanted to ‘shred her to pieces’ for killing Reim (which she probs has no idea of. It’s Lily who found him.), she managed to buy time if only with the appearance of the ‘fake’ Baskervilles and later escape.
Whereas when Lily, a child with a bit stronger chain than Reim’s (or so he says, for idk what his chain does) asked Reim to be her ‘friend’, he goes for the kill. oh no, poor guy doesn’t know how to buy time with a talkative, gullible child who has long given up on wanting to kill him and wanted to simply chat with him *sigh*
Same situation, different brains, different outcomes.
But because of that one stupid brain, all is gone to waste. No way an alliance between Break and the Baskervilles is gonna take place after this. I mean, I don't know if he meant it when he said this--

what are the many things he wanted to tell her please i wanna know i am dying for more interactions between them please
But it is too late now. It has turned into a kill-or-be-killed situation.
As of the present, it is Break vs Fang and Lily; and istg if something happens to any one of them, I will personally kill Reim. all over, once again. painfully.
I love all the three and I can’t see even one of them die over an idiot who caused his own death because he is an idiot.

some of the made up animals in nobodies hero, i dont have that many yet honestly but i'm working on it
Karru - a cross between a kangaroo and a thylecine/tassie tiger. they have the general body shape of a kangaroo, but a longer, sharper snout, and longer arms. they come in various shades of brown. with darker striped marking down their spines and sometimes on their faces. they're omnivorous.
Kosu, sometimes called Kosu Dogs - aka, Death Dogs, these guys are like the nh equivalent of dingoes and wolves. the name comes from 'Kosuktua' the god of death, dying and general decay. Kosu look like your average canine, but have that spooky unnatural laugh like a hyena and their bite is awful. it's not necessarily that they're venomous, and more that they've got that many killer germs in their saliva that bites get infected almost instantly and usually the only solution is amputation. they're pack hunters and almost as determined as humans when it comes to tracking and following. if you notice them once, you'll often continue to notice them for several days after until you either prove yourself too much to bother with, or you hit a town.
Giant Snow Hare - native to Miednic, they're pretty much what it says on the tin: giant hares. their size can be anywhere between a small dog and a small horse and they come in white and grey.
i dont have an actual name for these yet - a type of big cat native to nevmones, they're nocturnal and keep to dark, damp places. they have bat wings and eat fruit and are insanely loyal - there are many cases of these cats adopting people haha

"What if..." is both the Writer's Curse and the Writer's Gift. It sends you down rabbitholes that end up in places you never expect to find yourself.
Case in Point:
Back in the mid-1990s, I started toying with an idea, inspired by this song (”Mr. Crowley” by Ozzy Osbourne), and the little bit of historical information I knew about Aleister Crowley (which wasn't much, since this was 1996, and most of what I had available for research amounted to whatever I could find at the local library, and, well, let's be honest, that was a small town in rural PA. Enough said). What I did know didn't paint much of a picture one way or another, because there just wasn't much. But this song inspired a lot of "what if..." ideas. It started out as a "what if he wasn't the person everyone believes?" because, quite frankly, I thought a lot of what I was finding was colored by a heavily Christianized mindset, and these were a lot of the same people who thought I was evil or in need of "saving."
Problem was, without access to a lot more research, I didn't feel comfortable writing a historical fiction style story. So I shelved the project. Fast forward a little over a decade (2008). I'm in a position where I have access to a LOT more research material. I'm now in AZ. The internet abounds with access to historical information and even the writings directly from historical figures. I get to find out a LOT more about Aleister Crowley from all of those sources (including his own writings), and my view of the man shifts him from a potential antihero type (someone who maybe isn't as deplorable as everyone believes) to "this man was mad as a march hare, a charlatan, and a truly vile human being."
What’s a writer to do with that, except completely abandon the whole project I began in the 90s? *scoffs* Please. I'm too stubborn for that, and the Writer's Curse has kicked in at this point, but I don't know exactly where it's nudging me, other than  the vaguery of a whispery "what if... what if..." So, back onto the shelf with the still-unnamed work, which is basically just a collection of historical notes and a few rough, scribbled ideas of what kind of book I want to write.
Fast forward another decade. In 2018, in the midst of doing layouts for future books around characters from Tempting Fate as I did revamping on that book, I run across the character of Heila Freysdotter. And she needs a story. Okay, she's Norse (obvi), okay, she's the cousin of Geoffrey Grayson, so she's a Thorolfkind (whatever. Means nothing at this point, except she's a lycanthrope). A title comes to mind. The Hanging Tree. So we're doing something vaguely Viking/Norse. Lovely. No big deal. But I still need a hero.
And, for some reason, the research on Aleister Crowley comes to mind. Only, it's not Aleister I'm interested in. But what if I could redeem the Crowley family line, take the tarnish off it left by Aleister's craziness? What if...?
And so was born Simon Crowley, the eldest of three siblings who are the grandchildren of Aleister Crowley, through an unacknowledged (and wholely fictitious) son, Aristotle Crowley. Only, Aristotle's mother wasn't human -- at least, not completely. She was what, in my Guardians, Inc. series, is known as a Legacy -- someone descended from Para blood. Their son, Aristotle, carries his mother's Legacy, in a different form. His determination to unblemish the Crowley family name his father tainted leads him into a highly-respected life. He even goes on to marry a woman from a strong Tuathe Fae line of Healers. Their children inherited various combinations of their parents' abilities.
Simon Crowley is a Hunter. Those familiar with my Witch Hollow subseries know Hunters are those with the special, inborn skills to Hunt those who seek to actively harm the Covenant-Bound. Simon is also a gifted demonologist.
Sebastian, Simon's younger brother, is a Medicus -- a type of Healer, gifted with his mother's Legacy. He also carries a very rare gift for finding lost people.
Elyssia, the youngest and only girl, is an Archivist (Archivists in my Guardians, Inc. series are a type of Legacy ability tied to the Bardic Arts), and gatekeeper of one of only four European entrances to the Archive.
Simon's story (with Heila Freysdotter) takes place in The Hanging Tree
Sebastian's story (with Nathaniel Benoit) takes place in A Consequence of Blood
and Elyssia's story (with Madison Sebolt) takes place in Elysium Falling
All of this from a simple "What if..." back in 1996, inspired by a few lines of a song.
*chuckles* And now you see why it's both a Gift... and a Curse.
