Hello! First I want to say I love your fics with the bad batch and their kids. They always cheer me up if I'm feeling sad.🥰 Though I was also wondering if you were still planning to do a third part to the fives and echo kids series. If not I totally understand!
HI BOO THANKS FOR THE ASK I LOVE WRITING THE BATCH WITH KIDS SM OF COURSE I'M DOING A THIRD PART WITH ECHO AND FIVES
Part One & Part Two
Echo perked up when he hear the sound of his son's voice. Hard at work helping Tech load the Marauder, he pretended not to hear until his Iv'ika was right behind him, launching himself into the air with chubby legs, and Echo spun around to cradle his Iv'ika close to his chest.
"Spin, Boo, spin!" Ives demanded. Echo couldn't say no, spinning him around and around until he was certain Ives was ready to throw up.
Father and son laughed as Echo took a few wobbly steps to regain his balance.
"Now where's your Mama?" he asked, almost wistfully. Ives shook his head with a giggle.
"Is... Is that him?"
Echo looked up. The man's voice was familiar and alien all at the same time, but the face was etched into his every dream, nightmare and otherwise.
The face of a brother.
He stood with Echo's wife, and another woman who cradled a baby in her own sling. A tuft of jet-black hair was just barely visible over the cloth.
The familiar face was tanned and leathery from work in the sun without a helmet, kind of like Cut's. His dark hair tickled his ears and blended in with his beard and mustache that would completely disguise the fact that he was a clone to the untrained eye.
He looked as if he had seen a ghost, which was a reaction to his appearance Echo had become quite accustomed to.
"Cyare," Echo gently set Ives on the ground, and he faintly became aware of the Batch slowly gathering to greet the newcomers. His Cyare came and gently took him by the arm, leading him to this brother.
"Echo-"
Before she could say anything else, the strange brother threw his arms around Echo and sobbed. He was squeezed so tightly Echo couldn't help but hug back.
"You're alive, I can't believe you're alive!" He gasped.
"S-somehow," Echo stammered out with a nervous laugh. He had no idea who this was- maybe Boil or Waxer? -until the brother pulled his hair back, revealing the number five tattooed to the side of his head.
It felt like a punch to the gut. Echo couldn't speak, and he stopped breathing.
"Echo," His brother said.
"Fives!" Echo threw his arms around Fives, holding him tightly. He buried his face in his brother's chest and gripped the back of his shirt tightly. Was this a dream? It was too good to be true. If he opened his eyes, would Fives disappear from his arms?
But Fives didn't disappear. He placed a hand on the back of Echo's neck, resting his forehead against the top of Echo's head.
"You look like sith warmed over," He said once his throat had cleared.
Echo laughed, keeping his face buried in Fives' shoulder. He smelled like sun-warmed hay and star fruit. He felt alive.
"And you look like a nerf-herder."
Fives shook his hair against Echo's face, and Echo heard his Cyare laughing. And then the baby started fussing.
"Oh," Fives stood up, clutching Echo's shoulders, "I want you to meet my wife."
Wife. Fives already knew Echo's Cyare, and his son from the way Ives was clinging to his leg. Echo felt a split-second surge of jealousy that was promptly squashed by the sheer joy that his brother was alive.
"And this," Fives took the squirming, chubby infant from his wife, holding him out to Echo, "This is Hevy. Our baby boy."
Echo paused. Fives was alive. He had a son, a son named after Hevy. He had a wife. Fives was alive.
Echo's Cyare gently arranged his arms so that he could hold baby Hevy, his head resting in the elbow of Echo's scomp arm. This could have been what his Fiv'ika looked like as a baby.
Hevy's big brown eyes binked up at Echo.
"Hey, ad'ika," Echo whispered. He brushed a few curls away from his face, but Hevy grabbed his finger and held it tight.
"Wanna see! Wanna see Boo!" Ives jumped up and down, trying to grab the baby's blanky. Fives scooped his namesake up into his arms, holding him up to see baby Hevy.
"See, Iv'ika," Echo said, "This is your cousin."

John Barbour, the early Scottish poet, died on March 13th 1395.
Barbour was born, perhaps in Aberdeenshire, early in the 14th century, approximately 1316. In a letter of safe-conduct dated 1357, allowing him to go to Oxford for study, he is described as archdeacon of Aberdeen. He is named in a similar letter in 1364 and in another in 1368 granting him permission to pass to France, probably for further study, at the university of Paris.
In 1372 he was one of the auditors of exchequer, and in 1373 a clerk of audit in the king's household. In 1375 (he gives the date, and his age as 60) he composed his best known poem The Brus, for which he received, in 1377, the payment of ten pounds, and, in 1378, a life-pension of twenty shillings.
The only biographical evidence of his closing years is his signature as a witness to sundry deeds in the "Register of Aberdeen" as late as 1392. According to the obit-book of the cathedral of Aberdeen, he died on the 13th of March 1395. The state records show that his life-pension was not paid after that date.
Because much of his other work has been lost there is considerable controversy has arisen regarding Barbour's literary work. If he be the author of the five or six long poems which have been ascribed to him by different writers, he adds to his importance as the father of Scots poetry the reputation of being one of the most voluminous writers in Middle English, certainly the most voluminous of all Scots poets.
The Brus, in twenty books, and running to over 13,500 four-accent lines, in couplets, is a narrative poem with a purpose partly historical, partly patriotic. It opens with a description of the state of Scotland at the death of Alexander III, and concludes with the death of Douglas and the burial of the Bruce's heart, a period from the years 1286, unit 1332.
While the poem covers many thing, as in any good story there is a main topic, of course in The Brus it is The Battle of Bannockburn, and as you would expect, the King is the hero of the chivalric type common in contemporary romance., in this case fighting for the freedom of his country. While very few of us have read the poem, I guarantee that the majority can quote at least one line from it “ fredome is a noble thing “ or to quote this section of the verse;
A! fredome is a noble thing!
Fredome mayss man to haiff liking;
Fredome all solace to man giffis:
He lyves at ess that frele lyvs!
Translating to;
Ah, freedeom is a noble thing!
Freedom makes man to have liking!
Freedom all solace to man gives:
He lives at ease that freely lives!
As I said earlier, much of Barbour's other work is lost, one such piece is Stewartis Oryginale, a history of the lineage of the Stewarts. The Stewart name replaced that of Bruce in the Scottish royal line when Robert II acceded to the throne after the death of David II, his uncle. Robert II was Barbour’s royal patron. It is not known how the work came to be lost.
Much of the history of Robert the Bruce is taken from the poem The Brus, I do think a lot of it was exaggerated and written to please Robert II, who must have been proud to bare his Grandfather’s name, Barbour would have written the poem to please the King.
One of the most dramatic and lines in the poem refer to the first day of The Battle of Bannockburn when the young English Knight Henry de Bohun sees The Bruce and makes a foolish, but brave attempt to kill our Scottish hero.
The hevy dusche that he him gave
That ner the heid till the harnys clave.
The hand-ax schaft fruschit in twa,
And he doune to the erd gan ga
All flatlynys for him faillyt mycht.
That wes perfornyst douchtely,
Translated roughly to;
The heavy clout he gave
So he cleaved the head to the brains
The hand-axe shaft broke in two
And he ell to the ground
Dead and devoid of all strength now
This was the first blow of the battle.
No edition of the poem written in Barbour’s own hand survives, but two early versions, transcribed in the 15th century, still exist. These are kept at the Library of St John’s College, in Cambridge, and at the National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Pics are a Memorial to John Barbour, St Machar's Cathedral, one of the 15th century translations, an 18th century translation at The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, and the sentiment underlying the poem, which many of you may have seen sitting at the top of the Mound, as you take the steps up to Makar’s Court.
For a translation of the greater part of The Brus check the link here https://archive.org/.../bruceofbannockbu.../page/36/mode/2up
If you’re just after snippets, like I provide, the Scots Language Centre does a grand job.

In an alleyway corner under the fumes of smoked cigarette, something was hidden Cold footsteps rounding my back blocked up my ears Coming from the crazed lot of them, an A-grade, universal noise An adrenaline that surrounds me to mess with my head
I don’t have time to kick the bucket I don’t know the point I’ll end up at I don’t see such things as dreams Let me do as I like!
HELLO WORLD HELLO WORLD Is someone around? EVERY DAY EVERY NIGHT Answer! RUN AWAY FAR AWAY Fake it fast With the heavy feelings, somehow
If I close my eyes Beneath the beautifully spread sky Let’s meet up somewhere someday!
If you commit tomorrow’s whereabouts to the coin Everything will be within the range of your hypotheses The countdown to the end of the world starts from there If I smash through the doors one after another Sooner or later, I’ll manage to arrive Both the back and front end up so light to the point that It’s a meaningless reality
You fools who hold your breaths Pinpoint my location! And completely to the bones Ignite the flames!
HELLO WORLD HELLO WORLD Is somebody alive? EVERY DAY EVERY NIGHT Show me! RUN AWAY FAR AWAY Fake it fast Burn out through the heavy feelings!
Until I wake up As things are, I kept breathing softly Let me have good dreams!
I don’t have time to kick the bucket I don’t know the point I’ll end up at I don’t see such things as dreams Let me do as I like!

Em’s Star Wars Rewatch part 24:
The Clone Wars #22 - Kamino
3x02: ARC Troopers
Fives and Echo! The Domino twins are back!
I don’t think I realised how few episodes we actually get of echo and fives together. For characters who have become so important to the show, they actually have very little screen time.
I love 99 🥹
‘I remember all my brothers’
The fact that 99 asked where Hevy was - he really did care. It’s also a rare moment in the show where the characters bring up troopers they lost.
It’s actually a very smart plan to deliberately destroy transports in order to get the parts for the attack ships to the planet surface
Obi-Wan befriending the local marine life lol
I love Ventress and Grievous’ rivalry (and flirting????)
Ventress killing and then kissing Colt - honestly for a kid’s show TCW gets very dark and twisted some times.
I’ve just noticed that the ARC troopers in this ep are wearing Phase II armour - I guess it would make sense that the ARCs would get the upgraded armour first to try out.
Fives’ speech to the cadets - he’s just great at speeches (as will be shown in the Umbara arc). I also think it’s telling that he stepped up to do the rousing speech despite Cody and Rex being right there.
‘I’m a soldier, like you!’ 😭
The music in 99’s death scene was so emotional and really shows how meaningful and important that moment is.
The way Echo cradles 99 😭😭😭
Rex praising Echo and Fives’ courage and valour, ‘reminds me of myself actually’ - omg Rex 😂

Title: Road Kill (or Roadkill) (Demo)
Artist: Devin Townsend
Album: Ass-Sordid Demos I and II (The two versions are nearly identical. Same recording, just a minor variations in drums and pace, as well as a few background lines.)
Transcribed lyrics below:
NIART.. NIART.. NIART.. NIART.. NIART EHT SEMOC EREH! [Reverse: “HERE COMES THE TRAIN.. TRAIN ..TRAIN ..TRAIN ..TRAIN..!”]
Cute little bunny with a family of his own..! Goes out one day to bring some supper home..!  (..home ..home) Then SMACK! (..smack! ..smack!)  Goes a semi as it smashes him dead. Cracking open his furry bunny-rabbit head. And there was blood on the road,  There was brains on the path. There was poor little bunny, half and half And as the heat of the sun dried the blood to his bones, Poor little bunny ain't going home, eh!
(..Play it! ..Hey just do it! ..Just fucking play it!)  [Only in the second version.]
..Better go! (..Better go! ..Better go!) ..Looking now! (..Looking now! .. Looking now!) ..No life! (..No life! ..No life! ..No life!)
..OooAAh! Blood and guts! Brains and noses! Poor little bunny ain't got no toes-es! Listen to me because I want a reaction! All I ever find is a steaming little pile of
ROAD KILL! ..See intestines on my tire! (OO-ooh!) DEAD MEAT! ..Do you want a rabbit's feet? (OO-ooh!) ROAD KILL! ..We say a ROAD KILL!
"Mm.. Can you.. pass the ketchup?" Furry little squirrel, looking for some nuts. - Just hand me a napkin. And then a Hyundai hits it, Spewing out his guts! (..his guts! ..his guts! ..his guts!) And the deer, if you could call it that, We found up on the rocks, And then PWWTHH! (hop) on the windshield goes Mr. Fabby Fox, Hey!
("Little boy on nine watched everything happen.") [Only in the second version.]
..1, 2, dang it blood! Blood! (..What am I doing?) Blood! (..What am I doing?) Blood! (..What am I doing?) Blood! (..What am I doing?) Blood! (..What am I doing?) BLOOD EYE!
Blood and guts! Pus and booger! All I ever find of a mutilated cougar! Listen to me because I want a reaction. All I ever find is just a steaming little pile of a
ROAD KILL! ..Intestines on my tire..! (OO-ooh!) DEAD MEAT! ..Do you want a rabbit's feet..? (OO-ooh!) ROAD KILL! ROAD KILL! What I say? We say a ROAD KILL!!
"Stop damn! Stop! Stop. Just stop." "..YEAH! Oh! Yay!" "..Yeah!! Yeah!"
("Hehehe.. that was fun!") [Only in the second version.]

Found you!
I finally found a almost okay way to save Dogma. Take this, I will go to bed now! This is related to this small series.
Ao3    Brothers-AU     Part II
„General, it is a pleasure to greet you again on Kamino.“, the steady voice of a Kaminoan echoed over to her. Ahsoka took one step over the rest of the ramp and looked up, Shaak Ti followed the prime minister half a step back. Ahsoka eyed her briefly, outwardly she seemed as calm and controlled as ever. But a little nudge in the Force was enough; she openly spread her grief in front of the younger Togruta. Okay, take a deep breath! She glanced at Rex, and he nodded curtly. Well, they were still on schedule. „I want to get this done quickly. The Jedi Council has been promised the clones by the Supreme Chancellor and I'm here to get everyone on their cruisers.”, she explained quickly and Lama Su nodded slowly and deliberately. „Of course, all cadets are ready to leave the facility. As well as the clone staff.“, he explained and showed the way, with stiff steps she followed him. As they stepped into the bright hallways, her stomach turned. No good memories clung to this place! But before Ahsoka could squint her eyes, two hands fell on her back. One was long and slender and exuded a deep energy that forced her body to relax. The other was rough and warm, she looked up and when Jesse nodded safely, her head calmed down. He knew where to go, he would help her! „And what about the rest of the men?“, she asked and her group stopped, Lama Su gave her a sharp look. „We don't have any other troops here. The embryos cannot be handed over to the Jedi yet.“, he tried to chide her. She wasn't a child anymore! Unasked, Jesse handed her a holoprojector. Why was he so well prepared? Why was she so badly prepared?! With stiff fingers she switched on the projector, it showed a picture of a helmet camera. It was maybe only a few months old and a small text at the bottom said it was from Jesse's helmet.
Lama Su looked at the room and folded his hands. „You were not allowed to enter there.“ „And yet you would have withheld these men from us. I demand all living clones and all preserved bodies that are in these halls!“, Ahsoka growled softly and when the Kaminoan showed no movement, Shaak Ti stepped closer to him. One of her hands rested on her lightsaber. „They are owned by the Jedi now.“, she clarified and Lama Su blinked angrily at her.
*~*
„That went pretty well.“, Jesse muttered and Ahsoka rocked her head thoughtfully. She was so damn tired! Her hand hurt again and the muscles of her bandaged thigh twitched from time to time after the long walk through the facilities in the city. Nonetheless, her gaze was attentive as she watched as clones of various colors pointed a mass of cadets at the cruisers. In between, some soldiers brought containers of stunned or dead clones back to their battalions. „It could have been worse.“, she admitted quietly when her comlink demanded attention. „We have got everyone on the cruiser, we can take off. Cody has assured me that he and General Kenobi will monitor everything else.“, the voice of Rex rang out and Ahsoka breathed a sigh of relief, she wanted to get away from here as soon as possible! „We also have visitors.“, the Commander pushed after and Ahsoka hesitated. Visitors? „What kind of visitor is that?“, she asked alarmed and made her way to her cruiser with Jesse in tow. „Friends vod'ika, they're friends.“, Rex assured her and she could swear to hear him smile. Sighing, she cut the connection and quickened her pace. With Jesse's protective hand behind her back, she entered the landing bay and was briefly amazed at how empty everything looked around her. Then she spotted the people at the top of the ramp of the cruiser and with long strides she bridged the distance until two hands grabbed her by the waist and whirled her through the air.
„Only our Jedi could do something like that!“, Wrecker roared and Ahsoka saw from the corner of her eye how Jesse's shoulders tensed and Rex shook his head indulgently. „Watch out Wrecker, otherwise you won't make friends here.“, Echo warned, his smile taking the bite out of his words. Ahsoka grinned when she was back on solid ground and turned to Hunter. „What can I do for you?“, she asked, she was so happy to see familiar faces. Even so, her body seemed to think this was enough for a day. Her hand throbbed, her head ached. „We were worried and want to help, General Tano.“, Hunter explained calmly and even Jesse relaxed again, most of them could actually deal with Hunter. She wanted to answer, a hand pressed to her throbbing forehead, as a sharp voice preceded her. „General, sit down. Now.“, Burnes growled and came out of the cruiser to them. He didn't have his helmet on and his stubborn stare assured Ahsoka, that he would call Kix to it if necessary. She quickly turned to the Bad Batch, but Hunter was already studying her and then shook his head. „We're going to ask Commander Cody what we can do. Tell uns, when you are feeling better.“, he calmed her down and with that the Bad Batch disappeared quickly and quietly. Oh shit, she didn't mean to offend the men! But her head... „It's okay, they don't hold it against you. Listen to Burnes.“, Echo mumbled while he stepped to her side and Burnes nodded satisfied and went back into the cruiser, the others followed him. Hardly in the hangar, Jesse grabbed Ahsokas other arm and he and Echo pushed her onto one of the containers full of groceries and provisions standing around. Burnes had already opened his backpack and was holding a couple of pills in the palm of his hand. Without asking, Ahsoka took them and bowed to her fate. Her head throbbed and her leg hurt. Then he pulled out something else and handed it to her, it elicited a small laugh from the Togruta. She considered protesting, but then she took the unadorned teether and wedged it between her teeth. The weight between her jaws calmed her and her muscles relaxed again. Sighing, Rex took off his helmet across from her and eyed her critically. „You have to take care of yourself. We only just patched you up again.“, he mumbled and wordlessly she nodded, he was right. She had walked around too much today and maybe tried to get more into her head than she should. But this was more important than what was going on in her head. More important than the fact that she woke up bathed in sweat at night and found no rest on her own. She was glad of every waking second in which she did not have to see the hateful yellow eyes.
„General?“, asked another clone and Ahsoka looked up, Appo approached with quick steps. A blue arrow on a bronze background adorned his helmet. She gave him a smile, he was one of the few survivors from the 501st, who she had welcomed all with open arms. The council had given her without further ado Anakin's cruiser, which offered more space than her own. „The Chancellor asked for you. If you're not feeling well, then I'll-“ „No, it's okay, Captain.“, Ahsoka mumbled and started to get up. The painkillers seemed to hit slowly, and her head wasn't throbbing as hard for a long time. Still, a hand shot out and held onto her. „Take it easy, General.“, Burnes warned and grumbling, she sank back on her bottom, lacking the energy to argue with a medic. Not to mention Burnes or Kix, who were always on her heels. „I will talk to Chancellor Organa, you stay here.“, Rex mumbled and when Ahsoka didn't protest he patted her knee once, then he left the hangar with Appo. Well, if she was condemned to sit down, she would just have to take care of other things! She picked up her comlink. It took a while for Kix to finally respond. „Not now!“, he grumbled and it made Ahsoka smile, even if her eyes were suddenly very heavy. She gave Burnes a suspicious look, there must have been a sleeping pill in between! The medic returned her gaze like innocence itself. „Kix, get me when you wake the first one again. Yes?“, Ahsoka asked and her voice was suddenly quiet and small, she was so damn tired! She heard Kix laugh softly. „I will, don't worry. Thank Burnes for me won’t you?“ „Idiot.“, Ahsoka complained and switched off her comlink before she sagged against a shoulder next to her. Jesse. Echo sat on her other side on the container and pulled her legs onto his lap. „Sleep vod'ika, we'll keep watch.“, Jesse assured her and with a sigh, Ahsoka gave in and closed his eyes.
The first thing she felt again was the teether that was still stuck between her fangs. Then there was that warm hand that snuggled up against one of her montrals and satisfied she pressed a little against the warmth. Her head was bedded on something soft, did they got new pillows? No... A loud rumble and hasty apologies straightened her memories. The hangar. The sleeping pill. She had slept dreamlessly... Soft voices joined the noises around her and sighing, she carefully stretched her stiff legs, someone laughed softly. The sound ended with a low gasp. „Don't wake her up.“, one of the men warned, she was sure it was Hevy. „Be quiet yourself!“, answered oneother brother still a little breathless, Cutup. The noises grew louder, it sounded like a little scramble. Oh no... Puffing, she turned her head and buried her nose in the fabric under her head. The smell was familiar, her robe? „Carry on like this and I'll call Rex.“, Kix grumbled, was he here? Slowly the amount of noise increased, and Ahsoka rolled onto her back, panting, and rubbed her face with one hand. How long had slept? „Stay down, you don't have to go anywhere.“, Droidbait mumbled close to her, then it was probably his hand that was so comfortably warm on her head. Grumbling softly, she blinked up and took the teether out of her mouth, her head resting on Droidbait's lap. He greeted her with a warm smile. „How long have I been out?“, she mumbled and began to get up, his hands coming to her aid. Next to her feet, Kix leaned against the container and watched her, his critical gaze following every movement. „6 hours.“, Hevy commented and when Ahsoka looked down, she saw him and Cutup sitting on the floor. They both smiled up at her and she almost missed the worry in their eyes.
6 hours? „Have you started yet?“, she asked Kix and swung her legs from the container, her brothers on the floor got up again and Droidbait put the robe around her shoulders. Kix nodded. Kriff! „We started with Dogma, it's not like we had a lot of choice.“, he mumbled darkly and Ahsoka's heart contracted painfully. The 501st hadn't gotten many men back. Most of them would be buried in the next few days. „I'm sorry.“, she mumbled and rubbed her face again, the teether she slipped into a pocket of her robe. „It‘s okay. You just didn't have to endure it alone.“, Kix tried to comfort her. Ahsoka knew he wasn't mad at her. All of her brothers would have liked to relieve her and Jesse of some of the burden they had to bear. For exactly three days, all the men had known what Ahsoka and the ARC soldier had found on Kamino. „Where's Jesse?“, she asked and hopped off the container, Droidbait got up too. „By the cells, he wanted to keep an eye on them for you. Fives and Echo have joined him.“, Cutup explained and Ahsoka nodded, okay. With great strides she set off. „Was Dogma awake already?“, she asked Kix, he shook his head. „No, the medication should only fade in the next few minutes.“
*~*
The corridor outside the cells was more crowded than Ahsoka had expected. Most were unlocked, the older clones sat inside and in front of the cells on the floor and watched over their brothers. „Why did we choose this again?“, Ahsoka mumbled, she hated to see the men in the narrow rooms. Even if the bunks had been equipped with cushions and pillows. „Because the medbay is full with the injured of the past few days and confused cadets. The quarters are also almost overcrowded and here we have them under control, should the men be confused.“, Kix reminded her just as quietly and led them to a cell at the end of the row, on the way they met Echo and Fives. Droidbait, Cutup and Hevy stayed with them and Fives gave her a warm look. Jesse was waiting in front of the last door, he had his helmet on and was leaning in the doorway. „Hey.“, Ahsoka greeted carefully and put a hand on his arm. He looked tense. „He's going to hate us.“, Jesse whispered, even through the helmet he still sounded hoarse and tired. Kix put a hand on Jesse's neck and Ahsoka saw him lean into it and exhale deeply. „We can fix this. I promise.“, she tried to calm him down and pulled his helmet down to her for a gentle Keldabe kiss. Jesse's shoulders slumped, the weight of the equipment seeming to push them down. „Thank you. Thank you for staying with us.“, he muttered and Ahsoka tried to smile encouragingly, she didn't know if she succeeded. „Go and sleep a little, we were both on our feet too long. I'll stay here.“, she answered softly and Jesse nodded slowly, straightened up again and when Kix took a half step back into the corridor, he followed.
For a few seconds she watched Kix lead Jesse step by step. Guilt welled up in her at the thought of how long her brother had carried a huge burden almost alone. But now the others could take care of him, she knew that Kix would personally bring him to his bunk. A little reassured, she turned to the cell and entered. Dogma lay motionless on the bunk at the other end of the small room. All of this didn't look to uncomfortable, but her stomach still rumbled at the sight. Dogma's previous life had ended in a cell, was it fair that he should wake up in one now? The thought weighed on her mind and she leaned against the wall, listening to the noises from the hallway. The soft voices of the men formed a constant humming in the background, they radiated a calm that she had never known before! She had been surrounded by the clones for much of her youth, and pain and tension had never left the men's minds. The pain was there now, too, but above it was the certainty that the war was over. The final battles would be rather unspectacular without the Chancellor and Dooku. Downright easy!
A rustle tore her from her thoughts, Ahsoka turned her head and watched Dogma sit up with trembling arms, he blinked a few times in confusion before his gaze found her. He stared at her and Ahsoka's stomach contracted painfully, he looked so alone. Then suddenly a hard laugh escaped him. „Ha! I'm dead.“, he stated dryly and Ahsoka's heart slipped into her pants. What?! „Um ... no.“, she answered hesitantly and Dogma looked at her critically. Carefully he swung his legs off the cot and sat up properly. „With all due respect Commander, you are not particularly convincing.“ Was he joking?! Ahsoka slowly pushed away from the wall and took a tiny step closer. Dogma watched her closely, like an animal that is expected to be attacked at any time. „Dogma you are not dead.“, she clarified again and he seemed to want to reply something, but the beeping of her comlink interrupted him and immediately his mouth snapped shut. Sighing, she picked it up. "General, we will need more space.", one of the men reported and the sigh that was now escaping her was almost fond. Even if her stomach was still cold and hard. „Lay out my study, that of Commander Rex and Captain Appo's, with exercise mats. I don't think we all mind sharing the rooms with others if the children can sleep in a bunk.“, she decided and the trooper at the other end seemed to smile, it accompanied his answer. „Yes sir, it's as good as done.“, he announced and the connection was terminated. When Ahsoka turned her gaze back to Dogma, he seemed confused again.
„General?“, he asked hesitantly, so that was the inconsistency he was hanging on to… That was fine with her, maybe she could start here to convince him of his survival. „Yes.“, she replied calmly and evenly. The corners of Dogma's mouth pulled down, he frantically wiped his face with one hand. „But I was… dead! There was nothing there. There…“ He broke off, his hands trembled almost uncontrollably and he turned pale. Kriff, that here was almost worse than bringing Echo back to life. At least he hadn't doubted anything that much. „It's okay Dogma.“, she muttered, no reaction. He just kept shaking, his gaze fixed on the floor. Was that what she looked like when she had a panic attack? Ahsoka slowly approached the clone and crouched in front of him, he winced violently when her hand appeared in his field of vision and Ahsoka hastily pulled it back. „It's okay, you're safe.“, she assured, trying to sound as firm as Rex when he talked to her in the dark after a nightmare. Dogma swallowed hard. „But the others… And Krell. And Kamino!“, he managed and gritted his teeth, a violent sob shook him and Ahsoka hastily reached out to him, caught him at the shoulders and instead of flinching he sagged and another sob broke out of him. Ahsoka slowly worked her way up until she was sitting next to him on the bunk with his head resting on her shoulder. The fabric was wet under his cheeks. „It's okay, I've got you.“, she mumbled and was infinitely thankfull when she felt Dogma trying to take a deep breath. „You are home.“

Fractions of Echo - I
Gender isn’t something the Kaminoans consider important for the clones to know about. Cutup thinks he knows all he needs to know. Echo thinks he’s figured something important out. (And maybe he has.)
There’s quite a bit more downtime on Rishi than Domino squad is used to.
(Turns out holonet access can be patchy on remote moon bases, especially ones that don’t have a competent on-site technician, and entertainment can be lacking if one grows tired of the single radio station.)
“What do you mean, the whole city is gender-segregated?” Cutup interrupted Echo’s reading out loud from some travel brochure he’d found in the approximately eight-and-a-half minutes of stable connection. “I can’t even tell their species’ genders apart!”
Hevy and Droidbait were on duty with the Sarge, which left Fives, Echo and Cutup lounging in the barracks, killing time until the next shift change.
“Man, imagine the chaos if a whole battalion of us had to land there,” Fives added.
Echo leaned back on his bunk, resting his head against his hands. “I don’t know, I’ve never felt like we have genders, you know? It’s just another weird… category thing that nat-borns use.”
“Nah,” Cutup piped up. “The Prime is a man, and as a result so are we. I think,” he frowned.
Fives hums. Taking his blaster apart and cleaning it for the third time in as many days was getting a bit tedious, so he was glad for the distraction. “Is that really how this works, though? I mean, remember 65? I’m fairly certain they aren’t a man.”
(The longnecks, the training sergeants, even the very few Jedi they’d met in their lives – nobody could detect the minute differences in behaviour, voice, body language anywhere near as well as another brother could. And CT-2865 from Tango squad, who’d sat in the neighbouring table in the mess hall of the training facility, who hadn’t yet chosen a name but whom friends and squad-mates called ‘they’, stood out to their brothers in subtle ways that neither Fives nor the rest of Domino could properly articulate.)
“Random genetic mutation?” Cutup asked. “Like that creepy one with the eyes. Man, what even was up with that one.”
“Hear hear,” Fives said – they all knew the clone Cutup was referring to, the older one whose irises had somehow turned out pale blue instead of the usual deep golden-brown, who regularly made use of the feature to intimidate younger cadets – like Domino squad.
“I don’t think that’s how it works, though,” Echo replied, then frowned. “Gender isn’t all genetic, it’s- part of it is also the result of a combination of social and environmental factors, or something,” he trailed off, waving a hand through the air, trying to find the right words to articulate his meaning.
“It’s about how you see yourself,” Fives interjected, pointing at Echo with his multi-tool. “And how others see you.”
“Yes,” Echo said, leaning forwards. “And we’re clones. Physically, we’re the same. How we dress, how we act, is all guided by regulations, not nat-born social norms. Doesn’t matter to us what arbitrary terms they use to categorize us, as long as we can shoot clankers, you know?”
Cutup snorted. “Echo the philosopher.” He seemed to be deep in thought for a moment. “I still feel like I’m supposed to be a man, though.”
Echo shrugged. “Guess you can be, if you want to.”
For a few minutes, the only sound in the barracks was the steady clik-clik of Fives reassembling his blaster.
“Hey, speaking of genetic mutations,” Fives said once he was done. “That poster-boy of the 501st, Captain Rex – do you think he’s naturally like that or does he bleach his hair?”
Echo snorted. “No way that’s natural.”
“But his hair is so short!” Fives replied. “It would grow out in what, a week, week and a half tops? Does he carry bleach with him on missions or something?”
Cutup chuckled at the mental image. “Guess we’ll never find out.”
The bunk-room door slid open. “Oi, Fives!” a fully kitted-and-bucketed Nub called from the doorway. “We’re up! Let’s go.”
“Right.” Fives scooped up his bucket and deece, heading out for his twelve-hour night shift on duty. “See you guys in what passes for morning on this dirtball.”
“Pleasant dreams,” Echo called after him with a smirk.
“Kark you,” Fives called over his shoulder just as the door closed behind him.
***
“Hey, Echo?” A voice – Cutup’s – sounds in the darkness of the barracks over Hevy’s snores.
“Hm?”
“Do you, uh. Do you want us to use different pronouns for you?”
Echo considered the offer. Tried to imagine the options – he, she, they, some others he’d encountered. Imagined how it would feel to be called by each. Then he shook his head. “Nah, I’m good. For now, at least.”
Cutup shifted, his bunk creaking. “You can tell us, if that ever changes.”
Echo hummed his assent, turning his face into the pillow and closing his eyes.
A few moments later, he lifted his head slightly. “Hey, Cutup?”
“Mmmmh?” Cutup’s sleep-muffled voice replied.
“Thanks.”
“W’lcom.”
Hidden against his pillow, cloaked by the dark, Echo smiled.

Hyvää joulua, @lily-learns-finnish !!! ♡ I was your secret santa for @langblrsecretsanta this year. I got a bit carried away and made you more than one gift, hope you don’t mind. Here’s the first one, it’s a movie rec list of Finnish movies, most of which I have actually seen (I admit I don’t watch a ton of Finnish stuff despite living in Finland). Perhaps you’ve seen some of these but I think watching movies in one’s target language is always good practice since the language in them is much closer to actual spoken language than what you see in text books or literature. Don’t know how easy it’d be to find these movies online but if you’re in Finland I’m sure most libraries have at least some of them.

He and his bandmates have practiced for 12 years without playing a single gig. The guys get a surprise visitor from Norway--the promoter for a huge heavy metal music festival--and decide it's now or never. They steal a van, a corpse, and even a new drummer in order to make their dreams a reality.”

Sequel to this. Keep your eyes peeled for a part three.
"Ba'vod'u!" Iv'ika shrieked when you were still a good ways off. Hevy's mom led you to the cluster of buildings on her family's farm, and to your right you could see several family members working out in the golden fields, and even more in the orchards beyond them. A familiar face stood on top of the transport speeder, and he glanced up at your son's exclamation. When he caught sight of you, his face split into a grin. He hopped down and came running as fast as he could.
"Who'd you find at the market?" He asks his wife, kissing her and baby Hevy before snatching his namesake from your arms and tossing Fives up in the air.
"Higher! Higher!" Ives demanded.
Uncle Fives planted a big kiss on his nephew's cheek, and gave you a one armed hug.
"Babe, this is Echo's wife. You remember her and Fives Junior?" He winked at you.
"Yes, I do," She smiled at you.
"This is my wife," Fives placed his arms around her tightly and kissed the crown of her forehead for good measure, "And I assume you've met our baby boy Hevy?"
You nodded, "I can't believe you're alive! Rex said-"
"Yeah, that was a bit top secret," Fives chuckled.
"Big Bad ARC trooper here just barely came out of hiding in time to see his son be born," Fives' riduur teased lightly. She slipped their son from his sling and bounced him as the three of you talked.
"What are you doing out here on Dantooine?" Fives asked. Ives had squirmed to be let down, and was entertaining himself with the wildflowers that grew in the yard.
"We're out here on a supply run."
"A supply run? Who are you with?"
Hm. How to answer that?
Ives tugged on the hem of Fives' shirt holding out a flower "for the pretty lady." Fives grinned at his "little man" and slipped the flower behind his wife's ear even as she blushed profusely. Hevy reached out a chubby fist for the flower, and Fives slipped the bundle of joy from his wife's tired arms.
Then you realized, if you didn't know that Fives was alive, did he know that Echo was alive?
"Fives, I have someone I need you to meet."

While the poem covers many thing, as in any good story there is a main topic, of course in The Brus it is The Battle of Bannockburn, and as you would expect, the King is  the hero of the chivalric type common in contemporary romance., in this case fighting for the freedom of his country. While very few of us have read the poem, I guarantee  that the majority can quote at least one line from it “ fredome is a noble thing “ or to quote this section of the verse;
A! fredome is a noble thing!
Fredome mayss man to haiff liking;
Fredome all solace to man giffis:
He lyves at ess that frele lyvs!
Translating to;
Ah, freedeom is a noble thing!
That wes perfornyst douchtely,
Translated roughly to;
The heavy clout he gave
For a translation of the greater part of The Brus check the link here https://archive.org/details/bruceofbannockbu00barbrich/page/36/mode/2up
If you’re just after snippets, like I provide, the  Scots Language Centre does a grand job.

pairing: harry/evie rating: pg-13 words: ~2300 a/n: aka the five times they ran away together, and the one time they couldn’t. it’s supposed to be a songfic, but there’s only one real mention of the lyrics. it’s still very inspired by the song anyway. on a side note, it’s been almost a month since i last posted a fic. i’m so sorry! prompt: Can you do a hevie fic based on the song Paris by the chainsmokers? Maybe something about them running away? Thank you! read on: [ao3] [ffn.net]
v.
He had found her sitting alone on the steps in front of the Tremaine’s Curl and Dye shop, lost in thought as she fiddled with the hem of her dress. He was curious; she had never exited the shop looking so gloomy and down in the dumps, nevertheless sitting alone in front of it like she had nowhere else to go. It irked him, more than he liked.
Without hesitation, he trudged up to her, hand outstretched for her to take it. She looked up at him curiously; it would be wrong to say that they were friends, yet it would be even more wrong to say they were strangers. While they had spoken only a few times before, those few moments had built a strange connection neither had thought possible. However they had never openly sought each other out, both too busy with their own messes of lives to think of doing anything else.
So she just stared at him, never saying anything else as he looked down at her expectantly. “Run away with me,” he had told her so seriously, she didn’t think he was joking. She went silent for a few moments before lifting her hand up, placing it gently in his.
“Okay,” she muttered in reply, letting the pirate lead her off to wherever he wished. He pulled her through the dark alleys of the Isle, swiftly turning to avoid the crowds as he ventured further and further out, until he reached the edges of the forest near the sea. She followed him obediently, allowing herself to relish in the feel of his touch as he gently tugged her along to a creek hidden behind the trees.
Evie raised a brow when the view finally came in sight, never having visited the place before. He led her near the rocks where there was a small canoe tucked away inside a small crevice. Evie followed him inside the boat, holding onto him for balance before taking a seat on the wooden plank. He took an oar, handing her one before showing her the correct way to paddle, the girl following along quickly.
When the preparations were finally done, Harry untied the string anchoring the boat to the edge of the creek before beginning to paddle away, Evie following his lead. They paddled in complete silence for a good ten minutes, before the pirate finally looked at her, ready to speak.
“Yer mum?” he had asked her, the girl nodding in reply.
“She got angry at me again for using up her makeup, lecturing me for not having the ‘decency’ to refill it. Then she called me ugly and that she didn’t want to see my face again, so I went to find Dizzy but she’s out,” she explained softly, twirling a strand of blue hair with her fingers.
Harry watched her as she let out a small sigh, biting her lip hard. He reached out a gloved hand, gently caressing her face as she paused, staring at him curiously. His hand moved to the strand of hair she was twirling, twirling it with his own before letting go.
“Yer not ugly Princess,” he said to her, “far from it.”
Evie bit her lip, trying to hide the small smile as he pulled away, paddling once more. It was one thing to be called pretty from her friends, but it was another to be called pretty from someone like Harry. It had meant more to her than he would ever know.
iv.
His fingers travelled along the length of his hook, lightly gliding across the cool surface before it reached the sharp point at its edge. If he added a little pressure, he would prick himself and draw blood, and the temptation was growing a little stronger.
However he was stopped by a hand that had gripped the edges of his hook, Harry looking up to see a bemused blue haired princess who flashed him a knowing look as he removed his finger from the edge. He grinned a sheepish grin but she shook her head, tugging the hook harder in retaliation.
“Run away with me,” she said to him, a single nod of the head giving her his answer. She pulled him by the hook, knowing he wouldn’t ever let it go as she led him through the familiar passages and along the sides of the forest until they reached the creek. Instead of heading inside the boat, she tugged him across the rocks at the edge, lightly jumping across to avoid the water.
He followed her obediently, until she stopped and bent down to grab two stones at the bottom of the shallow waters. When she got up, she handed him a stone, waving it to him before swiftly skipping it across the water, his eyes watching as it skipped five times before sinking into the bottom of the water. Evie turned to him expectantly as he copied her movement, shifting himself to the side before throwing it across the water. They both watched as it sunk to the bottom of the water without a single jump, Evie unable to stop the small giggle escaping her lips as Harry eyed her in irritation.
“It was me first time Princess,” he protested as Evie tried halting her giggles.
“I got it the first time,” she told him smugly, the pirate rolling his eyes.
“Beginner’s luck.”
She poked her tongue out at him before bending down to grab two more rocks, handing him one and getting ready to throw. “Your dad?”
They watched as her rock skipped seven times before sinking, Harry letting out a small whistle in appreciation before humming. “CJ and Harriet too.”
Evie turned to him with a raised brow. “What happened?”
Harry didn’t turn to look at her, instead focusing all his energy on the rock as he threw it as hard as he could, watching it sink just like before. “Same old, same old. Disappointed I hadn’t topped me classes like those two did, and even more so when they found out I was Uma’s first mate.”
She nodded in understanding, before bending down to reach for another rock. This time she grabbed one that was larger than the others, turning to give it to him without a word. He took it without question, knowing what she meant before he threw it with all his might.
iii.
He took her hand without asking, leading her down the familiar route to the creek before finding a good place on the rocks for them to sit. No paddling or skipping rocks this time, just plain sitting and enjoying each other’s company as they let the troubles around them fade away.
“Run away with me,” he had told her once they were settled on the dry rocks, Evie rolling her eyes at the lateness of it.
“I already have,” she retorted, the pirate grinning in reply. He let out a sigh as he shifted himself to look at her more comfortably, the girl turning to stare at him with curious eyes.
“It’s been a while,” she remarked, Harry nodding. “It has.”
Evie bit her lip as she locked gazes with him, the blue in his eyes only now becoming more present. “I’ve missed you,” she said softly, the pirate raising a brow in surprise. He sat up more straight this time as he kept his eyes locked on hers, not daring to make a single move.
“And why would the princess be missin’ a pirate like lil’ auld me?”
Her eyes narrowed at his teasing, reaching out to lightly punch him in the shoulder. “You know why.”
His eyes twinkled. “Aye, but I wanted to hear ye say it first.”
Her nose crinkled, Harry finding it the most adorable thing he’d ever seen before she let out a small harrumph. “They won’t like it you know.”
The male shrugged, not bothered by the opinions of the others. He loved his friends, he really did, and he had unquestionable loyalty to them but they didn’t control his life then and they wouldn’t control his life now. No matter the problem Uma had with the rest of her group, her bitterness lied with Mal and not Evie, so he didn’t see why she would need to be unnecessarily affected.
“I don’t care,” he told her, reaching out to rest a hand against her cheek. “They can hate it all they want, but they can’t tell me what to do.”
Evie placed a hand over his, leaning into his touch with a small smile. She didn’t doubt that he didn’t care, but she couldn’t deny that she did. Her friendship with Mal was still a little rocky and fragile, but she didn’t want to sacrifice one relationship for another. Harry was right in his thinking, but it didn’t mean that it wouldn’t cause problems for everyone involved.
But they had run away together, so that shouldn’t matter now.
ii.
“Harry, run away with me,” she pleaded, taking his hand and trying to pull him away. But he didn’t budge, looking at her for a long moment before pulling her away himself. He moved so fast that she was stumbling right after him, but she did her best to catch up, refusing to slow him down.
He only let her hand go when they had finally arrived, standing on the rocks instead of merely sitting on them. Evie stared at his back worriedly, hesitant to approach him in case he would brush her off.
“Ye trashed me ship,” he said coldly, withdrawn of emotion that it had Evie’s heart pounding in her ears in guilt.
“I did,” she admitted, staying rooted to her spot as she forced herself to keep her head high.
“And ye did it with the others,” he continued, the girl lowering her head in shame. “I know,” she all but whispered, flinching when she heard him turn.
“Why?”
“You know why.”
The male sighed before walking toward her, the sound of grass crunching becoming deafening in her ears. She heard him pause in front of her, her eyes trained on his rugged black boots before she felt his hand reach beneath her chin, gently tilting her head up to face him. His eyes were unreadable but that made her feel all the more guilty as she bit her lip, shaking her head.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered sincerely, hoping he would listen to her.
“It’s not my place to forgive ye Princess. Ye weren’t the one who wanted te do it,” he replied softly.
“Let’s not fight here,” she instead said to him, eyes pleading. He knew what she meant, nodding in agreement.
“We won’t.”
i.
She gazed up at him with cheeky eyes, hand gripping the small object tightly as he eyed it skeptically. “Why?”
Evie shrugged. “Can’t I at least take one picture of us?”
“Why take a picture when ye can have the real thing,” he retorted, flashing her a cocky grin. The girl rolled her eyes before pulling him by the jacket toward her. “Pictures last longer.”
He tipped his hat in agreement before she handed the camera to him, Harry raising a brow. “I’m takin’ it?”
“Of course. You’re taller than me,” she reasoned before she grabbed his face in her hands, smiling at him. “Run away with me?”
The pirate smiled back at her, lifting the camera with one arm as he turned it to face the both of them. With the right angle, he kept his finger on the button as she leaned up to seal the kiss, Harry clicking at the right moment. When they pulled away, Evie’s lips spread out into the widest grin. “Always.”
He brought the camera down, turning it to see the screen for the preview of their photo. Evie hummed in approval at his photography skills, liking the way he had captured their kiss in their own little paradise.
If we go down then we go down together.

His hands gripped the edges of the scroll tightly, applying so much pressure that it was bound to rip. He sucked in a breath as he read the words over and over again, until he was sure that it had been engrained in his mind for good and that he wasn’t just reading it wrong.
Evie watched him worriedly, noting the whiteness in his knuckles as he gripped the scroll tightly. She already knew that by coming here, it would be bad news for the both of them. No one would walk away from here with an unbroken heart, that much was certain.
“Harry,” she began softly, reaching out toward him but he flinched away, still holding the scroll tightly before turning to look up at her. He was frowning, face looking angry but she knew him well enough to note that he wasn’t just angry, he was also in disbelief and shock, but if anything in pain. She had caused him pain, the last thing she had ever wanted to do, especially in their paradise.
“Yer going,” he said bluntly, the girl slowly nodding. He sucked in another breath before throwing the scroll at her, Evie not bothering to catch it as she watched him.
“Harry,” she tried again but he shook his head vehemently.
“Yer gonna leave me,” it wasn’t a question but she nodded anyway.
“I’m s—“
“Don’t say it,” he snapped, “Don’t apologise.”
“Harry—“
Harry shook his head, running a hand through his messy hair before turning to her. She was looking at him guiltily and sadly, but what could he do? She was the one who had hurt him more, yet even now he couldn’t find the heart to hate her. He could never hate her, never.
“Run away with me,” he pleaded to her, hands gripping her shoulders tightly. He didn’t want to lose her, not now, not ever. But the reality was coming more and more real. She was leaving him, and he couldn’t follow.
Evie gazed up at him, trying to reign back the tears but it was no use. Her eyes were watery as he gripped her shoulders, but all she could do was place her hands on his chest, lightly pushing him away. “I can’t.”
Not this time. Not anymore.
