—————————————————-
Synopsis of story:
Sonic sits with Uncle Chuck at the chili dog stand, sharing stories and reminiscing about their past adventures, including their connection with Emerl. Uncle Chuck, unfamiliar with Emerl, asks if a chili dog might distract Sonic from his thoughts. As they chat, a radio broadcast reports about the appearance of enigmatic robots causing chaos across Mobius. Ben Muttiski arrives but is persuaded by Uncle Chuck to help manage the chili dog stand.
Tails rushes in, urgently informing Uncle Chuck that Sonic sped off to warn Sally and gather the Freedom Fighters. Tails catches up with Sonic, conveying the gravity of the situation. Sonic, already aware, humorously prepares for action while acknowledging Tails' seriousness. They unite with Sally and the Freedom Fighters, inspired by the events of the ''Countdown to Chaos'' arc from the Archie Comics. This marks the start of the "Neublite War" arc, where Werehog Sonic's potential involvement is contemplated.
Amidst strategizing for the impending conflict with the mysterious robots, the team gears up, anticipating a significant showdown.
Here’s some footage above of the prototype:

SECOND BULLET II:
. . . . . . .
You stand in front of your wall, watching all the pinned photos of Bangtan with a red string connecting all of them. The string was bonding their faces with natal cities, possible families or relatives, and also, schools, universities and friends they might have in their past.
You were collecting information since yesterday. You started your investigation as soon as you got home after meeting them. You didn’t sleep at all, but lucky for you, you had some friends that were hackers and computer programmers that helped you to get more information about Bangtan’s past.
It wasn’t easy to try to discover their past, in fact, there is a big void of information about them. Just two of them had social media years ago, now inactive; belonging to Jimin and Jungkook, the others don’t have many information about them on the internet.
They were like ghosts, not that it surprises you though. It was pretty common to not find many information about the people working in this business. But even though, they usually have some kind of digital footprint, unless they faked their dead to exist as someone else, as some ghost with no past.
“What are you guys hiding that forced you to getting erased from earth,” you muttered to yourself, with your fingers on your chin and eyes narrowed at the wall.
This was becoming even more interesting than before. Not many targets of yours acted like shadows hiding their identity, that was your job. You were breed for this type of life, for lying and killing. You have no digital footprint and no real identity attached to you. You were a ghost, but so were they.
Filth lures filth. But the similarities and the challenges only made you even more excited.
The real mystery was; why were they erased from life? Why did they bother if they were just a small criminal organization, one that doesn’t have a lot of enemies.
Hiding and faking deaths were for spies only -for hitmen-, not gang members.
You bit your bottom lip watching every bit of information you have collected. Nothing about that information was certain or proved to be true, they were just assumptions.
Your phone ringing pulled you out of your thoughts, you frowned when you saw Jungkook’s name on your screen, but you answered the call anyway.
“Yes?” You didn’t even say hello, it was rude to call at three in the morning. But you were also curious of why was he calling you.
“Uhm hi, I’m-I’m sorry for calling you this late, I just… uhm, I need your help, it’s really important.” He stuttered, sounding hesitant of your reaction.
You hummed at his words, glancing at his pictured pinned to your wall.
“Sure thing, where’s the body?” You teased, hearing Jungkook’s chuckle at the other side of the phone.
“Don’t worry, I don’t need your help for that stuff,” he teased back.
You blinked, taken aback by him again.
“So…?”
There was a couple of seconds of silence between you two, until he took courage to speak up again.
“My hyungs never take me seriously, they-they believe I can’t control my emotions, that I can’t contribute with something… good. I feel like a puppy to them sometimes, although I have so much to thank Namjoon for… I still feel left out.”
You listened carefully to his blurted words, recording the call and taking mental notes of some interesting points, like him being grateful to Namjoon to the point that he thinks he owns him obedience.
And also, the supposed lack of control of his emotions.
Everything he said can be weaponized against him.
“I think I already know where’s this going. You want me to include you in my plans, am I right?”
“Please,” he whispered, with desperation written on his voice.
You grinned widely.
“All right, let’s do that.”
There was silence again, one that made you feel uncomfortable.
“You aren’t hiding something from us, right? Like your identity? I mean… everybody hides something, but faking an identity it’s just plaint betrayal.”
His tone dropped an octave. His words felt like a dangerous threat hiding underneath fake naivety. You felt shivers on your body.
“I’m real.” It’s all you said, regretting not elaborating more.
He let out a dark chuckle.
“Good, because I like you, and I don’t like liars. There’s a reason why my hyungs don’t let me… deal with people, because when I’m hurt, I can get a little bit… crazy.” He whispered lowly, but you heard his every word loud and clear.
You felt like throwing up, and you don’t know why.
“Bye Jungkook,” you were too uncomfortable and too tired to do this at three in the morning.
“Bye my little Ann, remember our little secret… deal. And don’t worry about my hyungs discovering us, I’m good at protecting what is mine.” He said it like a warn before hanging up the call.
Your heart was pounding and your hands trembled. You inhaled and exhaled sharply, trying to calm yourself down, but it was useless; you were having a panic attack.
You sat on a chair, covering tightly your ears and shutting your eyes close.
I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe I’m safe.
You mumble those words to yourself like a prayer in a loop, believing that if you say it more times and more loudly, the bad thoughts will stop tormenting you.
You had some heavy childhood traumas, but you tried to cope with them with your work and success. But things like people finding out your plans and making you feel dumb, served as trigger for your deepest insecurities.
Your Bruderherz was right, they were a difficult task. And for the first time in your life, you were doubting your skills.
Fuck Bangtan, you won’t let them outsmart you that easy.
But maybe they will; whispered that ugly and cruel voice at the back of your head.
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
You weren’t feeling okay. You felt dizzy and exhausted, Jungkook’s words haunted you even in your dreams, making you unable to sleep a blink last night.
Your mind wasn’t present at all, and someone in the room noticed it.
“What are you thinking about?” Asked Yoongi scrutinizing you with narrowed eyes, his stare was fixated on you since the moment you put a foot in their mansion.
You blinked, pulled from your thoughts by his question.
“Nothing important,” you said back with a shrug.
Yoongi stands inches in front of you, looking straight into your eyes. There was a little frown in his brows, and his cat eyes glinted with inquisitiveness. He can see right throughout you, and you didn’t like that at all.
“What?” You snapped at him, but he didn’t even flinch, unbothered by your menacing stare.
“Tell me what’s wrong so I can fix it, I want your full attention on this plan, on us.”
You widened your eyes, taken aback by his words. But his concern was unnecessary, because the source of your worry was one of his friends.
“It’s okay, don’t bother. I’ll pay more attention.” You cleared your throat, dropping your gaze on the digital map of the tactile screen from the table.
You felt fingers gripping and turning your chin towards Yoongi again. His eyes were intense, studying carefully your expression.
“Who’s bothering you? Tell me now,” he commanded with a deep frown. Impatience flashing his dark eyes.
You didn’t say anything at first, you won’t tell him that Jungkook’s been plotting behind their back, at least not now. You’re saving that piece of information for later, so you can have something to use against Jungkook and to tear their gang apart.
And also, you would never tell him about your stupid panic attacks, so you have to make up a good lie.
“It’s my dad, he’s been… insufferable lately. But I guess he’s just worry about me being far away from him.”
Yoongi didn’t say anything back, nodding slowly at your words with his arms crossed over his chest. You weren’t sure if he believed you or not.
“If I were your dad, I’d lock you up, considering how reckless you are.” He teased with a mocking smirk curling on his lips.
“I like that idea very much,” said Jimin coming from nowhere, grinning mischievous at the both of you.
You rolled playfully your eyes at him, although the uneasy feeling churning in your stomach didn’t disappear.
People sometimes tend to say truths throughout “harmless” jokes. And coming from them, you’d take seriously everything they say.
You became aware of them throwing glances at you and taking notice of your grumpy demeanor. That’s why you changed your sulking behavior, giving them your full attention and participating more in the plan.
You almost forgot the most important rule; you can’t show them insecurity, you can’t show them weakness, or they’ll eat you alive.
You shield all of your emotions and thoughts. Standing tall, making a room for you in this kind of meeting, and holding everyone’s gaze, even though you were anxious in the inside.
Your plan of getting rid of them was becoming more difficult as the days goes by, and that’s starting to worry you. You knew they wouldn’t be an easy target, and that this plan will take some time, but they’re suspecting you, watching your every move more carefully, warily.
“You’ve been acting strange all day,” Namjoon’s deep voice coming from behind you made you startle. You turned around to face him with your heart pounding in your ears.
You look up at him, holding his gaze. He was staring down at you with curiosity.
“Yeah, I noticed you all staring at me like hawks. I just had a bad day with my dad, that’s all,” you said crossing your arms over your chest, and then uncrossing them, remembering that that’s a way of showing defensiveness through your body language.
Namjoon took noticed of the movement, looking lost in thought.
“For some reason, I don’t believe you.”
He didn’t state it as an accusation but as a fact, like he genuinely believes that you’re being dishonest with him.
You were truly impressed by the sharp mind of these guys, but you won’t let them win, not now and not ever.
“I’m just… so tired of this lifestyle so to speak, and yes, I know you warned me before, but I want my dad to let me live my life for once, just for once, here, in this city.” You said biting your bottom lip in worry, averting your gaze to the side.
You mixed your real feelings with lies, because that would make your vulnerable act more credible.
Were you really tired of this lifestyle? Of fucking course, but you were more tired of not finishing their lives quickly. You want your trip to Europe so bad, to take a break from a life you didn’t ask for.
You watched him frowning at your words, with concern flashing his eyes. You noticed that he was the type of person that worries a bit too much about other people, that’s why he’s the one in charge, because he knows all too well the weight of taking responsibility for others.
“I see.” That’s all he said, with his dark gaze piercing you, trying to see right throughout you.
You noticed his gaze shifting to behind your back, and a devilish smirk curling on his lips.
“Hello there, grumpy girl,” whispered hotly someone into your ear, making you gasp and startle. You turned your head back to meet with Hoseok, he gripped your shoulders while looking into your eyes with mischievousness.
“Why don’t we bring this spoiled and absent-minded girl to Seokjin?” Said Namjoon staring piercingly at you, making you frown.
“What-“
“Shall we?” Asked Hoseok with amusement.
And before you could say anything, Namjoon gripped tightly your hand, almost dragging you towards Bangtan’s office where Seokjin was sitting in front of the desk, with all of the other members sitting comfortably on the couch. They looked at you immediately after you put a foot in their office.
“Here she is,” hummed Yoongi.
“Ann, please take a seat,” Seokjin gestured to the chair in front of the desk. You did as he said as smoothly as possible, not wanting to show them the turmoil of thoughts racing your mind.
“What’s up guys? I feel like I’m being scolded by the school’s principal,” you chuckled with a forced smile, trying to ease the tension of your shoulders and of the room.
You heard Jimin giggle at your back, but Seokjin’s poker face and tight lips made you feel even more worry.
“I- well, we noticed that you weren’t mentally present at all in the meeting.”
You couldn’t help to huff and roll your eyes at him, they were acting really dense with the topic, you have never met someone in your life that cared that much about your attention and inner conflicts.
“I already told you all why, it was just a personal issue with my dad.”
Irritation flashed Seokjin’s narrowed eyes. You supposed he didn’t like your attitude at all. But well, not only were you feeling drained by them, but your character is supposed to be a spoiled girl who doesn’t know boundaries, even with dangerous people like him. Maybe that’s why he said nothing to your rude tone.
“Yes, you say it a hundredth times. But I don’t want to talk about your dad, I can’t care less for him. I want you to fix whatever that problem is, because we need everyone in this room to be present physically and mentally at all times.”
There was a sour expression flashing Seokjin’s face, but besides that, he looked very professional, cold and composed.
They weren’t playing around with their business; you should’ve known better.
“And also… we can help you with your little problem, in fact, we’re looking forward to it.” This time, a wolfish grin curled on his lips, and his eyes glinted with intensity, fixated piercingly on you.
Your heart stopped at his words. You frowned glancing around the room to look at the members, they were staring at you like wolves circling their prey, and you didn’t like that at all. You felt trapped. But you felt even more confused as to why were they so eager to help you.
“But… why?” You muttered, looking back at Seokjin.
Seokjin’s grin widened at your question, leaning his upper body closer to you across the desk.
“Because as long as you work for us, we own you. And we took really good care of our proprieties, even if they’re temporary. We’re a very territorial group, and we like to protect each other, otherwise we wouldn’t be here alive.”
You widened your eyes and parted your mouth with genuine shock, you felt as if he had poured a bucket of cold water on you.
His tone felt possessive, they really think you belong to them. They see you as their property, according to Seokjin’s literal words. You couldn’t believe what he just said, you wanted to hysterically laugh on his face, in fact, you bit your bottom lip to stop yourself from cracking up with laughter. They were so, so funny.
“Oh, that’s really interesting. So that means you all belong to me too, temporary, of course.” You teased, feeling the confidence return to your body.
“Yes, of fucking course sweetheart,” purred Jimin from the couch, devouring you with his half-lidded gaze.
Your smile fell a little, they were so strange.
“We all belong to each other in this room, that’s why you should be careful to not betray us. You need to trust us and earn our trust; we are a really loyal group.” Remarked calmly Namjoon, as if he was talking about the weather and not about owning you like a pet.
“Well, they said that betrayal comes from the people we trust the most, and I am a simple stranger for you guys. I won’t be a disloyal rat, I get it okay? Because I’ll be in danger. Let’s move on from that topic, shall we?”
Your patience was running thin, you felt the primal need to flee from this den of wolves.
“Don’t get too cocky, you belong to us but that doesn’t mean you have power over us,” Growled Taehyung from behind you.
“Taehyung,” warned Yoongi with a frown.
The boy got up of the couch, walking away with clenched fists. You didn’t know what set him off this time. He always looks angry.
“Don’t take it personal, he’s just afraid of liking you too much,” said nonchalant Yoongi, making you feel surprised.
“You’re dismissed, Ann.”
You take happily your leave, taking notice of Jungkook smirking and winking at you before you leave the office. His gesture made you feel shivers.
You learn two important things today; 1) they took notice of everything; nothing escapes their sight. And 2) They were really, but really loyal to each other, so much that it scares you a little.
But all of that can be used on your favor, as they say; divide and rule. If you can turn them against each other, then you will have power over them.
You felt a rush of greed run your veins, the five million of dollar worth nothing in comparison to owning and stealing their legacy. You can rule Bangtan and get rid of them, killing two birds with one stone.
You just hope that they never found out who you really are, because if so, you chose to die before letting them get their crazy hands on you.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
You were yanked towards a dark room in your way to the mansion’s doors. A hand on your mouth muzzles your screams, your eyes tear up with fear when you were dragged into the room, watching another male closing and locking the door behind you, trapping the three of you inside.
“Shhh, it’s okay we just want to have a chat with you, we won’t hurt you.” You recognized Jungkook’s voice, he mouthed those words with your back glued to his front body.
“We’ll be nice only if you cooperate,” hissed Taehyung walking towards you.
You blink quickly your eyes trying to accommodate them to the darkness of the room. You spot Taehyung’s silhouette inches from your body, he looked even more threatening this closely.
You nodded slowly after seconds of uncomfortable silence. Jungkook let go of your mouth, but his arm gripped your waist instead, pushing you harder into his chest.
You gulped your fear and discomfort away. You can’t show them weakness, or they’ll eat you alive.
“What do you want from me? Wouldn’t it be easier if you asked me like normal people? This is unnecessary, even if you want me to bury a body, I would help you guys, no need for the theatrics.” You scolded with a sigh, trying to arrange your shirt down but Jungkook’s arm didn’t let you.
“You always have an answer for everything, don’t you?” Taehyung huffed with annoyance, leaning his body even closer to you, making you stiffen. “We drag you here to have a private conversation, without our hyungs.”
That spike your interest very quickly, you quirk a brow, wanting to know their intentions.
“I’m all ears,” you said, resting your back deeply into Jungkook’s front, you heard him inhale sharp.
Taehyung explained to you how he needs to participate more in your plan, and he heard from Jungkook how you will help the younger. Long story short; the both of them basically want you to include them more, like little boys wanting to have more credit to impress their hyungs. It was almost adorable.
And you will help them, but that help will come with a price.
Divide and rule.
“Glad to make business with you,” teased Taehyung after the three of you came with an agreement.
You tried to pull away from Jungkook’s grip but that boy didn’t let you go, and before you could say anything to him, Taehyung’s body brushing yours made your heart stop.
His nose was near yours, with his hot breath brushing your lips. You were trapped between the both of them, and suddenly you felt claustrophobic, like a weak prey cornered into its predator’s trap.
“Now, what do you want?” Your voice quivered, betraying you.
Although you couldn’t see their smiles, you could felt them anyway.
“We’ll give you a little show of what will happen if you try to turn us against our hyungs.” Threatened Taehyung lowly.
And then Taehyung’s body crashed against yours, making Jungkook ram into the wall behind them, dragging you with him. The both of them were glued to your back and front, making you feel asphyxiated. They were stronger, making it impossible for you to free yourself from their python grip.
You felt Jungkook’s lips kissing your neck, with his tongue lapping slowly the skin like a thirsty dog. The grip of his arm around your waist tightens painfully.
Taehyung spread your ankles apart with his foot, positioning his groin uncomfortably closer to yours, you felt his lips brushing your cheeks, melting you with desire and fear. You didn’t want this, but your body reactions were out of your control, and you hated not being in control.
“You’ll rape me? You think that will scare me?” You defy them breathless.
The both of them chuckled at your words.
“Oh, you have no idea what we’ll do, our hyungs will participate too, and believe me; they’re crazier,” mouthed Taehyung near your lips, his words made you feel shivers.
“If you get into their hands, you won’t see the light of the day ever again. You’ll be our little puppy, trained to obey us,” coed Jungkook behind you, sounding eager for that to happen.
You felt dread at their words, your worst fear was being deprived of your freedom and autonomy.
“Okay okay! I get it, let me go please,” you plead, and they stopped immediately, letting you go.
You felt your knees wobbling when Jungkook stopped holding you, like a baby dear learning to walk.
That day you got to your home with a blank gaze, ignoring your hackers’ work partners.
And when you sleep, you dream of ropes and devilish smirks, tying a leash around your neck.
You were fucked up.

Amazing Digital Circus Headcanons: How they got trapped
Kinger A programmer for the game when it was still in development, involved in gameplay mechanics and in-game physics.
Kinger and Queenie were the very first players trapped in the Circus after Kinger brought his wife in to work on what should have been a day off to play an alpha version of the game.
Jax A child playtester when the game entered beta. After he turned out to be a toxic player who harassed the other children, he was put on a different server to test the game's single-player potential.
The copy he was given just so happened to be the same one that took Kinger and Queenie. He was trapped. Jax grew up in the Circus.
After Jax's body fell comatose, C&A suffered a number of lawsuits that very nearly bankrupted them. The game was shelved, but never deleted, and in the confusion of the company's shake-up a room with a running server in it was walled up and forgotten.
Ragatha The older sister of one of the teenage playtesters. She snuck in and tried a headset on to see what the fuss was about.
Gangle An artist for the company, who joined C&A after it had settled into a new status quo. The workplace had become tense and stressful, and Gangle was fresh out of college and a ripe target for workplace bullying. She found out about the coma patients who never woke up and put the bugged headset on deliberately during a moment of weakness.
Zooble An urban explorer who snuck into an abandoned C&A facility and found the headset in an old room that used to be boarded up, but that time and decay had re-exposed.
Pomni A new hire for C&A. Was told stories about the haunted server running a cursed game as an office hazing ritual, and then was actually given a bugged headset by accident.

My Amazing Digital Circus theory of the people who became the characters:
All of them work at this C&A company (logo seen in episode 1)
Tumblr media
Kinger: Programmer. Worked on the digital circus, perhaps he was even head programmer. He entered the game to do some final debugging. Most likely some tweeks to the AI and hopefully fix the issues with collisions we saw in episode 2. Brought his wife along to see the wonderful game he had been working on.
Ragatha: I feel she worked in HR. She likes everyone to get along, tries to de-escalate situations, and tries does her best not to be a bother to others. However she can bring down discipline when he has to (like tying up Jax in episode 3). I think she was put into the game by force. Someone put a headset onto her, to get her out of the way, after she was going to go to the authorities to stop the company, basically, torturing people trapped with the game.
Jax: I buy into the fan-theory that Jax is a rogue NPC within the game.
But if he isn't, then he's an unpaid intern. He either put the head set on willingly, thinking he could get to play this game for free and before its release to the public, or he was ordered to put it on to be a beta-tester. (why pay for a play test, when you can just get the intern to do it.)
He may not even be fully aware of why he's mean to everyone, and I'm sure he thinks he has reasons; "none of it matters, it's not like the NPC's in the games are real." or perhaps, "It's not like we can die or anything."
Honestly I think it comes down to, after who knows how long of being the office gopher and paying for the bosses coffee order with his own money (no reimbursement), he just started out by getting major catharsis against the other company workers.
But he's enjoying doing that way too much, and the fact that there are no lasting physical consequencesto his actions is leading him down a very slippery slope toward becoming a sociopath, maybe a psychopath.
Gangle: Worked on art and design. We've seen Gangle likes to draw and sketch and that may mean they created concept art, or digital designs for some, or all, of the named NPC's within the game , from Gummygoo, to Martha Mildenhall.
I think she also has depression symbolised by how their main body is a big loop of ribbon (empty inside). They've learned to hide it (or mask it) behind fake smiles and insincere laughter.
I also think art is both their hobby and a kind of their therapy, helping them just pour all their feelings out through their creativity.
They do feel joy at times, especially when it's quiet and no one is putting any demands on her, and just let her do her own thing. Episode 3 is evidence of that, where she was happy to be with the group, not necessarily taking part in their activity but enjoying being there and doing her own thing. Namely, sketching.
Zooble: They're non-binary and has issues with dysmophia, or dysphoria.
The reason they ended up in the game is the same as Jax, it was cheaper to get them to play test than hire a play tester. But I think Zoople is an actual paid employee, not an unpaid intern.
The vibe I get with Zooble is "freshly graduated from college and this is their first job." They're young enough that they're still figuring themselves out, which doesn't always mean young, but it more often found in people under 30. However they have a certain level of maturity to them. They set up Kaufmo's funeral, and spoke at it, despite how uncomforatable they can feel discussing their feelings.
Pomni: Whoever is in charge at this C&A company, Pomni worked alongside them. Maybe a business partner, I think more of a PA.
Their clothes are telling; a Jester. Jesters would work for a monarch and entertain their guests, just as a PA would work for the company boss and would handle people that the boss didn't want to talk to. The privilage of being the PA to the company boss would give Pomni more leeway to talk freely without risk of being punished. Just as a jester had that privilege within the royal court.
I'm trying to hint that Pomni may have been the one to pass down the orders that put Jax and Zooble in the game. I don't know if I'm saying it well enough.
Two lines in episode 3 stuck out to me, after Pomni is in hell.
"How's your wife, Kinger?"
Did Caine program that into the game? Did he get that specific insult ready in case Kinger accompanied Zooble into the scary path of the game?
Or did the evil-souls pull the knowledge our of Pomni's head? Because Pomni observed these events on the outside.
Caine did say that any torture is accidental on his part.
The second line: "I knew it would turn out like this... he just wants to torture me."
Was she talking about Caine? I don't think so. I think she was talking about her boss.
For resons currently unknown he forced her to put on the headset, but she knew what would happen if she did; she would lose most of her memories and be forced to play the games until she went nuts. Would her boss listen? No. Her conclusion, whatever reason he gave to get her into the game was a lie and it was just to torture her.

Headcanons for TADC Humans
This is basically my headcanons for the TADC cast and their human lives, especially after E4-
Kinger: Programmer, got hired by C&A to develop a kids' computer program. Between him and Queenie, actually the second to arrive
Bonus Queenie: Beta tester for C&A, insisted on testing it herself when reports of people randomly disappearing into the program started
Ragatha: Wealthy heiress and beta tester, used her fortune to support C&A since they and she were both big into kids' education, even if it was just a surface level interest. Volunteered to beta test
Kaufmo: Programmer who got press-ganged into beta-testing
Gangle: Used to be a shift manager, but was also posting art to social media. C&A hired her after TADC was dropped in order to create art for a new game. Gangle hoped that this could be a launching point for that webcomic career she wanted to build. Saw the headset with the computer turned on after hours and just wanted to turn it off.
Jax: Hacker who decided it would be fun to break in the same night Gangle got sucked in. Got curious.
Zooble: Beta tester who got hired to beta test the same game Gangle was working on. Like Gangle, saw the headset and computer on after hours.
Pomni: Private investigator, got hired to look into C&A because way too many people disappeared at that point. Fully suspected that the company was straight-up murdering people.

Prometheus Gave the Gift of Fire to Mankind. We Can't Give it Back, nor Should We.
AI. Artificial intelligence. Large Language Models. Learning Algorithms. Deep Learning. Generative Algorithms. Neural Networks. This technology has many names, and has been a polarizing topic in numerous communities online. By my observation, a lot of the discussion is either solely focused on A) how to profit off it or B) how to get rid of it and/or protect yourself from it. But to me, I feel both of these perspectives apply a very narrow usage lens on something that's more than a get rich quick scheme or an evil plague to wipe from the earth.
This is going to be long, because as someone whose degree is in psych and computer science, has been a teacher, has been a writing tutor for my younger brother, and whose fiance works in freelance data model training... I have a lot to say about this.
I'm going to address the profit angle first, because I feel most people in my orbit (and in related orbits) on Tumblr are going to agree with this: flat out, the way AI is being utilized by large corporations and tech startups -- scraping mass amounts of visual and written works without consent and compensation, replacing human professionals in roles from concept art to story boarding to screenwriting to customer service and more -- is unethical and damaging to the wellbeing of people, would-be hires and consumers alike. It's wasting energy having dedicated servers running nonstop generating content that serves no greater purpose, and is even pressing on already overworked educators because plagiarism just got a very new, harder to identify younger brother that's also infinitely more easy to access.
In fact, ChatGPT is such an issue in the education world that plagiarism-detector subscription services that take advantage of how overworked teachers are have begun paddling supposed AI-detectors to schools and universities. Detectors that plainly DO NOT and CANNOT work, because the difference between "A Writer Who Writes Surprisingly Well For Their Age" is indistinguishable from "A Language Replicating Algorithm That Followed A Prompt Correctly", just as "A Writer Who Doesn't Know What They're Talking About Or Even How To Write Properly" is indistinguishable from "A Language Replicating Algorithm That Returned Bad Results". What's hilarious is that the way these "detectors" work is also run by AI.
(to be clear, I say plagiarism detectors like TurnItIn.com and such are predatory because A) they cost money to access advanced features that B) often don't work properly or as intended with several false flags, and C) these companies often are super shady behind the scenes; TurnItIn for instance has been involved in numerous lawsuits over intellectual property violations, as their services scrape (or hopefully scraped now) the papers submitted to the site without user consent (or under coerced consent if being forced to use it by an educator), which it uses in can use in its own databases as it pleases, such as for training the AI detecting AI that rarely actually detects AI.)
The prevalence of visual and lingustic generative algorithms is having multiple, overlapping, and complex consequences on many facets of society, from art to music to writing to film and video game production, and even in the classroom before all that, so it's no wonder that many disgruntled artists and industry professionals are online wishing for it all to go away and never come back. The problem is... It can't. I understand that there's likely a large swath of people saying that who understand this, but for those who don't: AI, or as it should more properly be called, generative algorithms, didn't just show up now (they're not even that new), and they certainly weren't developed or invented by any of the tech bros peddling it to megacorps and the general public.
Long before ChatGPT and DALL-E came online, generative algorithms were being used by programmers to simulate natural processes in weather models, shed light on the mechanics of walking for roboticists and paleontologists alike, identified patterns in our DNA related to disease, aided in complex 2D and 3D animation visuals, and so on. Generative algorithms have been a part of the professional world for many years now, and up until recently have been a general force for good, or at the very least a force for the mundane. It's only recently that the technology involved in creating generative algorithms became so advanced AND so readily available, that university grad students were able to make the publicly available projects that began this descent into madness.
Does anyone else remember that? That years ago, somewhere in the late 2010s to the beginning of the 2020s, these novelty sites that allowed you to generate vague images from prompts, or generate short stylistic writings from a short prompt, were popping up with University URLs? Oftentimes the queues on these programs were hours long, sometimes eventually days or weeks or months long, because of how unexpectedly popular this concept was to the general public. Suddenly overnight, all over social media, everyone and their grandma, and not just high level programming and arts students, knew this was possible, and of course, everyone wanted in. Automated art and writing, isn't that neat? And of course, investors saw dollar signs. Simply scale up the process, scrape the entire web for data to train the model without advertising that you're using ALL material, even copyrighted and personal materials, and sell the resulting algorithm for big money. As usual, startup investors ruin every new technology the moment they can access it.
To most people, it seemed like this magic tech popped up overnight, and before it became known that the art assets on later models were stolen, even I had fun with them. I knew how learning algorithms worked, if you're going to have a computer make images and text, it has to be shown what that is and then try and fail to make its own until it's ready. I just, rather naively as I was still in my early 20s, assumed that everything was above board and the assets were either public domain or fairly licensed. But when the news did came out, and when corporations started unethically implementing "AI" in everything from chatbots to search algorithms to asking their tech staff to add AI to sliced bread, those who were impacted and didn't know and/or didn't care where generative algorithms came from wanted them GONE. And like, I can't blame them. But I also quietly acknowledged to myself that getting rid of a whole technology is just neither possible nor advisable. The cat's already out of the bag, the genie has left its bottle, the Pandorica is OPEN. If we tried to blanket ban what people call AI, numerous industries involved in making lives better would be impacted. Because unfortunately the same tool that can edit selfies into revenge porn has also been used to identify cancer cells in patients and aided in decoding dead languages, among other things.
When, in Greek myth, Prometheus gave us the gift of fire, he gave us both a gift and a curse. Fire is so crucial to human society, it cooks our food, it lights our cities, it disposes of waste, and it protects us from unseen threats. But fire also destroys, and the same flame that can light your home can burn it down. Surely, there were people in this mythic past who hated fire and all it stood for, because without fire no forest would ever burn to the ground, and surely they would have called for fire to be given back, to be done away with entirely. Except, there was no going back. The nature of life is that no new element can ever be undone, it cannot be given back.
So what's the way forward, then? Like, surely if I can write a multi-paragraph think piece on Tumblr.com that next to nobody is going to read because it's long as sin, about an unpopular topic, and I rarely post original content anyway, then surely I have an idea of how this cyberpunk dystopia can be a little less.. Dys. Well I do, actually, but it's a long shot. Thankfully, unlike business majors, I actually had to take a cyber ethics course in university, and I actually paid attention. I also passed preschool where I learned taking stuff you weren't given permission to have is stealing, which is bad. So the obvious solution is to make some fucking laws to limit the input on data model training on models used for public products and services. It's that simple. You either use public domain and licensed data only or you get fined into hell and back and liable to lawsuits from any entity you wronged, be they citizen or very wealthy mouse conglomerate (suing AI bros is the only time Mickey isn't the bigger enemy). And I'm going to be honest, tech companies are NOT going to like this, because not only will it make doing business more expensive (boo fucking hoo), they'd very likely need to throw out their current trained datasets because of the illegal components mixed in there. To my memory, you can't simply prune specific content from a completed algorithm, you actually have to redo rhe training from the ground up because the bad data would be mixed in there like gum in hair. And you know what, those companies deserve that. They deserve to suffer a punishment, and maybe fold if they're young enough, for what they've done to creators everywhere. Actually, laws moving forward isn't enough, this needs to be retroactive. These companies need to be sued into the ground, honestly.
So yeah, that's the mess of it. We can't unlearn and unpublicize any technology, even if it's currently being used as a tool of exploitation. What we can do though is demand ethical use laws and organize around the cause of the exclusive rights of individuals to the content they create. The screenwriter's guild, actor's guild, and so on already have been fighting against this misuse, but given upcoming administration changes to the US, things are going to get a lot worse before thet get a little better. Even still, don't give up, have clear and educated goals, and focus on what you can do to affect change, even if right now that's just individual self-care through mental and physical health crises like me.

WIBTA for getting revenge on the people who ruined my life?
I (???M) used to work for the government as a programmer. I was hired a little less than five years ago to code an algorithm for sorting sensitive data. Unbeknownst to me, there was a spy hiding amongst the people who were working with me on the project, and they were leaking classified info. As the head of the project, naturally I was their first suspect.
They had one of their detectives (we'll call him C) take my statement, but C had the bRiGhT iDeA to play Bad Cop and keep pressing me no matter how many times I said I didn't know anything, and eventually he started accusing me of being the spy myself.
I don't clearly remember what happened, but C needed to leave the room for some reason and accidentally left his pistol on the table. I admit it might've been a bit of a stupid idea, but in a blind panic, I grabbed the gun and BOOKED it. I knew they weren't gonna let up on me if I didn't run.
Another detective (we'll call him J) saw me fleeing and chased me down. He cornered me in a local park and threatened to shoot me if I moved another inch.
Now, I thought this man was gonna fucking KILL me, so I did the first thing that came to mind to save myself. I picked up a kid that happened to be playing nearby (we'll call her L, she will be relevant later) and threatened to shoot her if he got any closer.
For the record, I had no intention of hurting anyone AT ALL. I was just trying to manipulate J into, you know, NOT FUCKING SHOOTING ME.
I was killed by a piece of a falling meteorite before anything actually bad could happen, but that kind of made everything worse. I turned into this half-dead freak of nature and even though I have cool ghost powers now, my "life" fucking sucks and everything hurts. My only friend is a goddamn cat. It's been this way for years and everything keeps getting worse.
I just want C, J, and L to feel the same pain they put me through.
They took away my reputation, my life, my fiancée, they took fucking everything. I have nothing left because of them and they shouldn't get to get away with that.
I have everything planned out already. I'm going to make sure those assholes feel exactly how I felt these past years.
TL;DR, my life was ruined and I want to get back at the people who ruined it. WIBTA for following through with my plan?

EVERY FOUNDER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WAS
But if angel investors become more active and better known, they'll increasingly be able to reach most of the changes will be for the better. You can use that target growth rate. Ditto for PayPal. Are there zero users who really love you, but they know better than to be friends with the people whose discoveries will make them so. A few steps down from the top. Professors have to publish novel results to advance their careers, but there won't be many of them. When we cook one up we're not always 100% sure which kind it is. So the deals take longer, dilute you more, and impose more onerous conditions. They'll just have become a different, more conservative, type of investment. C was written by people who needed it for systems programming. But I could be wrong. What you're really doing when you start to see growth, they claim they were your friend all along, and are aghast at the thought of a 30% success rate at fundraising makes my stomach clench.
Being around bad people would be intolerable. And it's true, the benefit that specific manager could derive from the forces I've described. Jessica Livingston, Robert Morris, Eric Raymond, Guido van Rossum, David Weinberger, and Steven Wolfram for reading drafts of this. But only about 10% of the time we could find at least one good name in a 20 minute office hour slot. Actually what they need to do two things, one of the keys to retaining their monopoly. And so ten years ago, he could teach him some new things; if a psychologist met a colleague from 100 years ago, writing software pretty much meant writing software in C or Perl. Now we needed to stay alive.
We'll probably never be able to match. I think hiring people is the worst thing a company can do. Hacking is something you do with it. Because they haven't tried to control it too much, Twitter feels to everyone like previous protocols. Nearly all your attachment to it comes from it being attached to you. Why programmers, more than dentists or salesmen or landscapers? So why did they even evolve? For example, the Honeywell thermostats in my house have the most atrocious UI. Barbershops are doing fine in the a department. Imagine the obelisk of startups. And now that I'm an investor, the thought of our startups keeps me up at night. The process inherently tends to produce an unpleasant result, like a student who hasn't prepared for an exam.
To be self-funding—Microsoft for example—but most aren't. You just try to get people to pay you for stuff. Investors' opinions are explicitly tested: startups come to them and they have started to use it? You're better off avoiding these. That's true. A rounds creep inexorably downward. That's nonsense. They're increasingly rare, and they're going to get rarer. The company being sold.
But the way they write software. How much is that extra attention worth? To the popular press, hacker means someone who breaks into computers. The founders can't enrich themselves without also enriching the investors. People don't do hard things gratuitously; no one will work on a harder problem unless it is proportionately or at least to know what an n 2 algorithm is if you want to avoid writing them. In fact many of the people who had them to continue thinking about. Fortunately if this does happen it will take years. And when the Mac appeared, it was obvious that rapid development would be important in this market. Was there a connection?
In a world of small companies, performance is all anyone cares about. It must once have been inhabited by someone fairly eccentric, because a lot of investors hated the idea, but they don't need as much of the innovation is unconscious. You know what a throwaway program is: something you write quickly for some limited task. This may not be easy, because a they may be, but more a way of predicting performance. Civil liberties make countries rich. One thing it means is that at least 20-25% of the code in this program is doing things that you can't be pointed off to the side and hope to succeed. A round.

a) repeating computer doesn't change who invented them b) claiming Ada was a computer programmer doesn't make sense. On what machine did she program? What language did she use? No, an algorithm is not a program. First computer was Eniac, 1948. No, a calculator is not a computer. c) Alan Turing wouldn't invalidate the claim - statistically, he's an anomaly, which I expect is going to be the tactic here - cherrypicking an unusual example and claiming it is significant. d) computer in ww2 meant "someone who computes", which meant tedious simple calculations repeated ad infinitum - you don't know history - see link at bottom. e) Again, finding an anomaly and trumpeting about it doesn't change the weighting of the scales. f) The Margaret Hamilton one is a myth repeated by female supremacists who are often aware it is a myth, and it was even debunked by Nasa. She was a project leader. Her team wrote the code. Guess who was in the team?
So far, you've outright lied, you've cherry picked, and you have ignored the huge elephant in the room which is that in the context of computing, yes, most of the advances were either by straight white men or straight asian men. Almost nothing was done by women, and feminists, in sixty years, have contributed nothing to the advancement of humanity, and have instead pushed communism into classrooms - with arguments like whether 2+2 might equal 5. "‘the mathematics curriculum has to be “inbedded” into the cultural environment of the pupils’"
The belief by feminists was that everything was invented by women, and since then, the Leftists took over and claimed that the Global Wakandan State invented everything, and whitey (and the asians, who are also white akshually) took credit. But the truth is that white and asian men are the titans of STEM. That might change in the future but the present and the past are very solidly weighted in that direction, and propaganda will not change that.
Addendum: I noticed a Leftist in the notes had tried to claim credit for their argument by pointing at a white man, who was likely straight, and claiming that since he'd been castrated, that totally counted as a victory for women. No. Another claimed that Mexico is a skin colour. No. I don't know if these are genuine idiots, and if so, I am so sorry that society has failed to put you to bed with your favourite blankie. Or they could just be shills hired by the CCP to destabilise the West, by promoting antiscience like "decolonisation".

And finishing up this morning's report we have information that leads us to believe John remillard is raising huge armies to rescue him away from Tommy f and there's a good chance that he is trying to frame John remillard for his crimes against her son and there are many including taking his money but John remillard is doing it too and keeping our son poor
*other things that are happening Dave Dan last night empty two of his stashes and cashes over there in the Miami area he has five of that size and he pulls a small ones out what he's doing it, and he has to take out two more he's going to expend the rest today and it's quite a bit of stuff and they're fighting the tunnels huge wars. They are going to remove two more and they're going to try again for stashes and cashes or Tony F and or Trump and or Terry C as they're fighting out there and he's going to see how it goes. He doesn't have many more of these around Florida the second problem is if he does not escape Friday and has a problem that's Thursday night into Friday then he will be captured and it looks like it's happening in a video that they may have planned and he's saying he played it or something he looks as crazy as a bed bug and someone may have sent it back and didn't act as him things like that happen we are getting ready for this to her we think Friday morning he arrives here threatening our son and he is very weak and he dies in the house of course her son will be at the mall so we then think that a wake will be held on Saturday and he will be buried on Sunday and that is going to trigger the second Continental Congress and we believe that is hell on Monday and it's Cinco de Mayo as well this is a huge event it's not just about Dave Dan and the trumps and their fall from Glory and their abuse while they're up of our son and daughter and us and our people and it will be at an end the reign of terror will be over is what this is going to trigger a large in-fight between them and a disgusting scene of absolute idiotic behavior. It is the beginning of a series of events in the office of the President and with Tommy F too and it will show our people and the rest of the world that they are useless against Mac proper you might as well hire a dirty diaper that's been used because these people don't do squat at all and running around circles in the office yelling at each other and saying stupid things and you would believe that their children and nasty children it's a sacred office in a defile it with their presence not to mention their absurd behavior and Tommy F wants to say something go ahead and tell me if you say something why don't you let it all out like you do everyday with your diarrhea mouth in office we can't talk about you this way no we can you're wrong no we're going to make you pay for what you're saying next absurd comment which you keep repeating and people here in force it too tons of them. You're everybody's enemy not by choice so what you're calling more enemies to get rid of you you're a fool and you have a plan to do it okay you're insane and if fighting each other so that's what they say and it's absurd there's nothing to them they're not computer programmers they don't have everything rigged their armies are not successful we have to infiltrate Tommy f he has a threat on the Earth 100 ships crashing of that size would be a problem but not a huge one because it's only your people who are in those areas everybody else evacuated and it's a bunch of s*** heads would be gone in a blink so it appeared that that might be part of Tommy F plan so we're going to publish
And because of the last sentence
