In Secrets we get Bayliss explain how he's never satisfied if he's with a woman he's thinking about men or when he's with a man he's thinking about women. I thought it was a really clumsy 90s sort of reasoning but no... I think it's deeper and Bayliss doesn't really get it.
He's just unhappy because whoever he's with isnt Pembleton. I dont give much stock with what actors say but Kyle Secor described Pembleton as Bayliss's 'perfect unreachable lover'. If Bayliss is after that no wonder he's unhappy with everyone he's with. and always looking for more.

I wonder if the people working on Starsky and Hutch knew how much of an impact they would be making on the buddy cop genre. Many cop shows that came out after it had that S&H influence in them, though some might not have been as open/honest/loud about the intentions of the partnership(s) on their shows. But it’s kinda weird how these shows have kinda given me a new perspective on love stories or just love in general. I LATCHED onto these unconventional-ish relationships on screen, like I want to study them and take them apart and put them back together again 😭

Ive always thought race was a factor why frankentim was never big big in fandom circles. I think if Frank was a white guy then people would still be into it. Their whole dynamic is *chef,s kiss, you know? Stuff that fandom (sorry it is a bit of a monolith here) would still be eating up with shovels. What are your thoughts?
As it so happens the major Schism (lol) in HLOTS fandom happened because of this very thing. The biggest mailing list of HLOTS fans had some very ... rigid opinions of Frank/Tim as a pairing and a lot of convoluted reasons why it would never work, and why writing it was tantamount to "disrespecting the dead" since we as murder police writers -- lemme see if I remember it right -- 'speak for those who speak for those who can no longer speak for themselves' 🤪
Like there were whole essays posted about why writing Frank/Tim was wrong, and why Tim should only be paired with Mike, or uh ... Chris Keller, or that one Nick Lea character from X-Files whose name I don't remember. That's how far afield of the actual show it got to try and find Tim a white partner.
Aaaaaanyhow that's the state it was in when I got into HLOTS fandom, and fortunately some lovely people (hullo Rachel & Vali & Marti wherever you are) created the Schism list, which welcomed any and all pairings. And I mean all. It was the home of the only Scheiner slash fics I can recall ever seeing. 😂
So I got into the pairing via Pamela Rose and was totally unfettered and happily wrote Frankentim and was in the right place to do it! The pairing would've been a JUGGERNAUT nowadays. Their chemistry was and still is off the charts even if you only ever watched Three Men and Adena.

How about your son-in-law 👀
my son-in-law Spears "I have the power of ORB and anime on my side" Nolan I love him :)
-He's a regular human trans guy who doesn't have any visible moisturization beyond gills bc he likes the way he is already. Maybe a little bioluminescence, as a treat, but only if he can turn it off for maximum Lurking In The Darkness
-Technically his job is to guard the Leviathan and he does take it seriously but also he just loves lurking in the darkness. It's his thing. He joined the Shadows at the beginning of beta and he's happier there than he would be actually playing the game
-He does like pitching though. He's very dramatic about it. Fancy poses and naming the pitches and all that
-The unmarried equivalent of a wifeguy. Girlfriendguy. The embodiment of the "it's ok to murder people but it's not ok to disrespect your wife/it's ok to murder people if they disrespect your wife" post. t4t with my spoilery daughter who I will not talk about here (this is why he's my son-in-law)
-Was essentially Hobbs Cain's apprentice and learned dark magic from him. Also stepped up as designated protector of the Leviathan once Hobbs and Richmond were gone, though he's not as close with her as they were.
-Is not super close with Amos but they respect each other as fellow Weird Underarena Lurkers
-Has psychic blood and knows how to use it. Mainly to levitate a bunch of spears in the air and look cool, but can also sense people's emotions, among other things.
-Goth. Emo. Shops at hlot tlopic and listens to MCR. You know how it is.
-Essentially larping as being Magical Mysterious Underarena Weapons Guy Who You Don't Mess With but is actually a) a pretty sweet and sensitive guy beneath that exterior who wouldn't hurt people without reason, and b) perfectly capable of doing serious damage to you if he does feel you deserve it. It's not as much of an act as you might expect.
-Nova is very determined to be friends with him when she joins the team and he is really Not In The Mood but eventually warms up to her and they do larping shenanigans together
-Would be friends with the teen squad under better circumstances
-Him and Augusto have basically opposite aesthetics and personalities but are similarly dramatic in terms of pitching performance, and Spears does look up to him a lot as an older transmasc role model
-[Spears voice] I miss my wife, Tails. I miss her a lot

Hi! Yes I do indeed like your gifs. If you feel like it could you gif Bayliss telling Sheppard that he loves Pembleton? The he was my partner, best friend (he never had friends) exchange? If not that's cool as well, I make my own gifs but at this stage Im in limbo whilst I wait for videos in the post to obtain good footage. Your hlots files are lovely and big??
thanks again! and here it is

If H is in Latam why are Sarah's Kitchen posting food from HLOT tour rehearsals? We are clowning again.//
There's times when the band could be practicing by themselves. Maybe it's for the crew. I'm not saying Harry isn't there but Sarah isn't Harry personal chef. She works as a tour chef. She'd be there for tour and anyone who's a part of that regardless of Harry being there.

So I just got to end of season 6 Homicide Life on the Streets and I’m sat here in tears. I knew what was coming, but not exactly and it was so painful to watch play out on the screen.
I was never the biggest Kellerman fan when I originally watched it 25 years ago but this time through I was hurting so bad for him. What he did was wrong and he was so messed up at the end but I just hated that everyone turned on him, from not throwing the football in the squad room to when Stivers gave him up to Gee, I just can’t.
And then Bayliss...oh Tim, the whole of that scene just had me bawling. From where he’s shot to when Frank is at the hospital by Bayliss’s bed, when he’s speaking with Bayliss’s mom. Bayliss was always my fav character back in the day, always had a soft spot for him, and he and a Frank? Ugh, with Frank leaving it’s just not going to be the same in season 7. As soon as I’m finished with season 7 I’m pinging straight back to season 1.
Two partnerships I’m going to be mourning the loss of; Bayliss and Pembleton and Lewis and Kellerman. Like old married couples I could listen to their conversations for the whole length of the episode. They were awesome together.
Ballard and Gharty are okay but they won’t ever match the original characters and Falsone, I just can’t bring myself to care about him. I don’t know what it is but he just doesn’t interest me at all. And Stivers, I’m sorry, I really don’t like her at all. From her part in the Lewis, Kellerman, Mahoney thing, I just, I can’t like her.
I’m consoling myself with the fact we still have Lewis, Munch and Bayliss (and Gee) in the last season but I will be very surprised if I enjoy it as much as the first seasons.
I fell in love with this show when I was sixteen or seventeen, back when it was airing on tv (in the UK and at what godawful time they broadcast it, which from memory was something like like 11pm. No idea what channel, though I suspect it was probably channel 4 as that’s the one I can imagine bothering with it). I fell in love with the show and the characters and the brilliant way it showed the story over a 45 min episode. It was engaging and mesmerising, from the hand held camera shots to the dialogue heavy exchanges between the characters that a lot of the time had nothing to do with cases, just rhapsodising on life. You didn’t see the crime most of the time (not until the later seasons anyway) just the bodies and the detectives trying to put it together. You rarely saw any of the csi stuff, just leg work and interviews. It was about the story and the people; the victims and the criminals and the detectives themselves.
The main characters were never simply good or bad, you laughed with them one week and wanted to shout at them the next. They were human, with their problems and faults, they were real. You loved each and every one of them despite this, which is why even with what Kellerman did, I still feel for him.
I’m losing the ability to write because it’s late and I have work in the morning and my brain is slowly shutting down now but, I’m so pleased I started watching this boxset (I actually bought it back in 2013!) because it’s been a journey over the last three or so weeks. Like with watching Young Guns for the first time (since since around the same time actually, but about a year or so before I got into HLotS...) it’s been a trip down memory lane. Watching as an adult, watching so many years later has been interesting. Watching as a slasher has been different as well, as I didn’t discover slash til I went to Uni.
One thing that is going through my head and which I love is that after watching so many episodes over such a short space of time (at least 12 today’s I have the title music in my head and it’s glorious!

Okay, so, just wanna update everybody on what I’m doing over here. I’m currently trying to get a little bit ahead of myself on the baby series so I can get an actual sort of schedule happening for both ao3 and patreon. I’m planning on posting again on ao3 for that series tomorrow or Friday, and on patreon again probably next week. I want to start another big fic (final big fic?? maybe?? don’t know, lmao) and I’ve got four options I’m attached to, but I can’t decide if I should just choose myself or put it up for a vote. Either way, I would wanna get three or four chapters under my belt before I started posting whatever it is, because the amount of stress that came with hitting (and not hitting) deadlines for HLOT was worse than normal for some reason.
My job is supposedly coming back at the beginning/middle of October (we’re gonna see) but that hasn’t ever really stopped me from writing, it actually helps keep me on track, I think. I’m currently in a complete TDATT mode as most of you may have noticed, lmao (and I hope you don’t mind that kind of content here!) to the point where I have written ONE poem based on a scene from the movie. No actual “fic” will ever come out of me for that movie, but poetry might happen, so don’t rag on me too hard if you see any of that show up here lmao. I’ve got one fic on a bet that closes today that I gotta plan, and then another one shot that’s gonna be a sort of MPITE spinoff that I may....or may not post, lmao. We will see. I’ve still got a million comments that I need to answer and I eternally apologize for how long that’s taken me and how far behind I’ve gotten on it. I will answer!! It just might be insanely late and I’m so so so sorry.
I think that’s it! So it’s baby town for a little while here, a couple small iron dad one shots, maybe some poetry, and eventually a larger fic will be in the works again. I am considering asking for input, but there’s one option that will most likely win if I even put it in the running, lmfao. We’ll see we’ll see!
Love you guys, kisses and hugs mwah!

I'm going to have to do a plot gifset next for the rest to make sense. I need like 8 hours uninterrupted in bed to think it through. Instead I'm off to work where I will be thinking of other heaps more boring things.
It would be so much easier if I were writing this rather than doing an gifset epic in 500 words (total), which is an incredibly silly thing to do...!!! Do I do things simply or easily? No. Bring on more crappy shows to cobble together.

Hello! As a (relatively) newbie slasher, I'm just interested to know. What fandom got you into fandom proper, and what fandom got you into slash? For me it was one and the same, and it was Once a Thief. I watched two episodes, went looking for more info on OaT, found fandom and slashzines with photoshopped Mac/Vic covers, fell down the rabbit hole of fandom and slash and never ever looked back.
Hello! The first fandom I participated in online was Homicide: Life on the Street, via the usenet newsgroup alt.tv.homicide. Then I participated in the Buffy and Angel newsgroups for a couple of years. The first X-Men movie in 2000 is what kickstarted me in to writing. I mean, I was attempting at the time to write Angel fic but it wasn’t going anywhere - XMM was the first fandom where I actually finished and posted something.
HLotS made me realize that I could enjoy reading slash, and I wrote some in XMM and Smallville, but the first m/m pairing I ever really truly felt hardcore OTP about was Sirius/Remus in Harry Potter.

A03 Meme
Saw this floating around LJ/DW, thought I’d crosspost my response here.
Go to your works page, expand all the filters, and answer the following questions:
1. What’s your first and second most common work ratings? Any surprises?
Teen And Up Audiences (74)
Mature (70)
Not really surprised. I don’t write a lot of pure smut PWPs, but most of my stories would fall in the PG-R category (because I still think in terms of movie ratings.)
2. What’s your most common archive warning? Least common? Do you consider yourself an adventurous writer?
No Archive Warnings Apply (196)
Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings (28)
Rape/Non-Con (2)
Major Character Death (2)
Again, no real surprises here. I generally can’t kill the characters I love, so if there’s main character death it’s rare (and likely someone I think deserves it, lol.) And my only two explicitly non-con fics are of the omegaverse variety. If I choose not to use warnings, it’s usually to avoid ruining a surprise or when I really am not sure whether something deserves a warning or not (such as, when writing SVU, so many themes deal with sexual assault or violence at least indirectly. I’m not always sure it deserves a specific warning for it so I just go with the choose-not-to-warn label and call it “canon-typical violence”/etc in the tags.)
I don’t know if or how that really correlates to being “adventurous” or not. In fact I think it’s kind of edgelord-y to think that the only way to be “adventurous” is to write darkfic that requires specific warnings.
3. How many fics have you written in each relationship category? Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
M/M (194)
Gen (27)
F/M (12)
F/F (7)
Other (4)
Multi (3)
I think my preferences are pretty clear! It’s generally m/m slash ships that I’m intrigued with enough to want to write them, though lately I have started to develop some more m/f ships too and want to write more for them (specifically Munch/Howard from HLOTS, and Rollisi is getting under my skin.)  Even a lot of my gen, if not written for an exchange, tends to be (in my head) either pre-slash or stories that aren’t explicitly about any relationships, though they may exist in the background.
4. What are your top 4 fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Law & Order: SVU (80)
The Police (Band) (74)
Foo Fighters (34)
Brimstone (18)
Well obviously I’m still active in SVU and that’s not changing any time soon. I haven’t written anything for The Police or the Foos since, really, the 2014 Rockfic Ficmas exchange, but I’ll never rule it out. Maybe once I get enough mental distance from the drama that was going on at Rockfic that made me leave that community I’ll feel like it again. But I also feel like I said most of all I needed to say there, unless I feel like revisiting a couple longer WIPs that I ended up giving up on.
Brimstone is definitely one of those fandoms that I’ll never leave and never stop loving. In fact I’ve written 2 things for it this past year, and it just always seems to have so much crossover potential that begs to be explored.
In general I tend to be a very slow-moving serial monogamist in my main fandoms (with a few ongoing side-flings and flirtations to keep things interesting) and I don’t move on from one to the next until I’ve completely exhausted all ideas I have for it. (Or the fandom explodes in wank bad enough I need to leave, at least for a time.) And that can take a decade or more for fandoms I deeply fall into, and some I never fully leave even if I’m dormant in them for years at a time.
5. What are your top character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
Stewart Copeland (75)
John Munch (72)
Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (63)
Sting (44)
Stewart, John and Fin being my top three? No surprises there. Especially Stewart & John in the top two spots. Sting in #4 well...I think he’s there mostly because of Stewart (and how often he plays a role in even my Stewart/Taylor fics.)
6. What are your top 2 most used additional tags, and your bottom 2? What would happen if you combined all 4 of these into a fic?
Established Relationship (54)
Angst (27)
First Time (16)
First Kiss (13)
Hahahaha, ok, combining them all into one fic might be a bit disturbing. Because it sounds like a recipe for an infidelity story (someone cheating on an established relationship, thereby causing angst.) And since infidelity is generally one of my squicks, I think I’ll pass on writing that.
7. How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
Only one (I believe), Coming Around Again, which at this rate could take the better part of a decade to finish, lol (though the next chapter WILL be posted this month!) I don’t tend to do the WIP thing because, well, I don’t tend to write stories so long that I need to post them as WIPs to keep my motivation going.  That and I HATE coming across promising WIPs that end up abandoned before they’re finished, so I’ve vowed at this point to never do that (again) myself.
I’m not tagging anyone, so feel free to take it & answer it if you wish!

’Blerg’--random thought-age as I'm taking a FB hiatus...
Thus, TUMBLR becomes my random thoughtage outlet for now...
Favorite compilation of EpicDeuxDepsDrumDell (2 Steps from Hell) to date as I attempt sorting the mysteries of Rodulf/Riculf, Lot/Hlot, Amlodius/Amlethus with Ostrogoths and Uther/Arthur...
These tracks are so visual--’'After the Fall’ (sounds quite SubRoman Britain anyway, right??), just lends itself to Gwenafyr usurping Theodoric’s attempt at abducting her, with the intent of bargaining for her affection with a 1000 strong company of Sarmatian cavalry (sworn to him after his victory over Babai at Singidunum in the 470s), and Gwen, a descendent of the original Iazyges (Saramatians defeated by MarcusAurelius) sent to Britain 300 years before, gambling on the horselords’ ancient affiliation of Saranyu, their goddess, to recall an ancient authority of Queenship, and perform something of a coup, taking Theodoric prisoner, and returning to Britannia with the 1000 strong caraphracti in the wake of Badon 2.0/Camlann 1.0--wherein, Theodoric (Tewdrig) and Uther cross paths for the first time...set circa, 490, as Theodoric negotiates, via Gwen, the use of Uther’s navy of ‘'Black Danes’...enter, Hrothgar, and the Anglian/Beowulf/Widsith curve...
‘Secret Melody’--just basically gets retitled in my brain as ‘The Rallying of the North’)--Gwen, of Votadini royalty, daughter of Aeternus (father of Cunedda Wledig--in my geneologies, her eldest brother, who doubles as Euryn-Gildas later, and their younger siblings, the twins, Huail and Cywyllog--all children of the Cawnur), her mother, Peteova, a princess of the Picti, finds various ways to unite the houses of Caledonia under the old Tetraskele of Brigantia--the Eye of the Cauldron/Corryvrecken, on the eve of Uther’s battle of Eboracum/York, bringing the Caledonians south after finally winning Pabo Post Prydein (the name apparently related to Palomydes??) and his Alani cavalry, ruling out of Rheged/Cumbria/Galloway/Mann to join the ‘cause’ against the Jute/Saxon/Scoti incursion...and unite Britannia...
Meh...random thoughtage...
Addendum thoughtages--scenes not entirely w/o a basis in lit & lore. Jordanes, or it might be Procopius, mentions a strange interlude of a company of Goths/Ostrogoths threatened with being sent to Britannia as slaves, and saved on account of a bizarre bargain involving a general and a single horse...Google ‘Gildas and Goths’, and the takedown is there...
