laudna's whole thing is that she needs to be useful. she has to contribute relentlessly and completely to the group, to the people she cares about. if she has a purpose, she can't be cast aside. maybe, if she wasn't nobody, if she were a fancy lady or a better sorcerer, she wouldn't have been chosen. someone important would be noticed, would be remembered when they died.

we've seen her cope with the guilt of not being doing enough by offering herself to others. she may be a lost cause, but others are not. if she was capable she could have prevented so much harm. if she was stronger, maybe she could have pushed back against delilah much earlier. maybe she could have stopped otohan. maybe she could have avoided the risks others took for her. maybe she could have, could have, could have–

so yeah. it makes sense why she kind of wants the shard, too. power is useful. thirty years with delilah have taught her that. certainly, it's delilah's desire, but that's the thing about temptation. we've seen laudna resist before. we've seen how convincing delilah can be when laudna is vulnerable. the question is how can she be most useful: to delilah or to the party. to the world or to herself. can they co-exist?

I kind of think a little bit about a bad ending cutscene that’s sort of like Zestiria’s... you defeat the party and then the cutscene jumps to Ludger and Julius having one last meal together... Rollo is probably still being cute and it’s reminiscent of the start of the game but the tone is all off and the skies are dark and there’s a sadness to Julius talking to Ludger... maybe the news begins to mention bodies found in Marksburg and Ludger turns off the TV...

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
