I need help finding a fan fiction I read forever ago on A03. It was about Carmilla and Laura and Carmilla was a photographer and she had an apartment and a dog and they were still in college. And I think maybe carmilla was tutoring Laura. They snuck into a building by crawling under a fence. Then another time they were in like a junk yard or a field with broken glass for Carmilla's project. Another time she had taken a picture of Laura while she was asleep and all of this was for her project to tell Laura she was in love with her and they fought once or twice

Carmilla brainrot has me so bad so I'm gonna try to write a fic where instead of Perry being possessed by the Dean, it's Laura, so it's extra heavy on the angst ;)

Loves Sacrifices update: "A Sight For Sore Eyes" three parter
Chapters 16 to 18 are up, and I've been waiting for over a year to post this.
This is a three part chapter, and I wanted to wait until all three were up before making this post. I had to split because all three parts put together is nearly five hours of reading. Almost as long as all three Pitch Perfect movies back to back.
Tumblr media
I kept saying I wanted to finally get the baby shower done for over two years, and now it's finally finished. What else is that this chapter is meant to wrap up the Bailey Downs arc…which is why it took a while for me to get too.
This is also meant to be a siege chapter, much like I did with Unlife is Strange. Because of how long it took me to get these out, I'm also taking a little break from Love's Sacrifices, and going to be focusing on finishing Mission to Silas, and getting back to writing Unlife.
And since this is meant to wrap up the Bailey Downs storyline, think of it like a "Mid Season" finale.
Tumblr media
Which also leads me to this content warning.
Like I said, this is meant to be a battle chapter, and it's probably where the story gets to its darkest points. You may even forget this is a Pitch Perfect crossover.
Tumblr media
These chapters include: Blood, light gore and mutilation. Vampire related violence. Werewolf related violence. Demon related violence, curtesy of Lamashtu. Nudity and mild sexuality. Torture. Shooting and gun violence. Children being threatened.
And of course, character death; these three chapters will see two named characters, who were introduced in the first few chapters, being killed off.
...or you could read the TV Tropes page and see who bites it in advance. But what's the fun in that ?
Anyways, links to all three parts down below.
Part one
Part two
Part three

Are you in other fandoms than Clexa?
Yes and no. I started out in the Spashley fandom back in 2005 and the days of fanfiction dot hell and when ships had their own forums and websites. I wrote for that but I hope nobody ever finds the atrocities that my teenage self thought were appropriate for public view.
Took a break from fandom after high school, but as soon as I found out about Brittana and ao3 I was hooked again.
Started watching the loo and fell in love with Clexa, got back into Tumblr and the rest is history.
I occasionally read Calliette, Hollstein, Supercorp, or Wayhaught if I get a great fic rec. But Clexa has me in a fucking CHOKEHOLD and I attempt to write that when I’m feeling bold enough.

Summary: When Laura Hollis, drags Carmilla to a fan convention in Toronto for some who-cares, nerdy webseries, it might just be an eye-opening experience. Especially when the hotel’s front is aglow with Pride colors, random convention-goers comment on how the two of them are 'totally rocking the cosplay game’ (even though they’re dressed like normal), and girls keep flirting with Laura and Laura doesn’t seem to mind.
What exactly has Laura Hollis- adorable, chore-wheel spinning, cookie-consuming, and Carmilla's long time friend and *disappointingly* heterosexual roommate - been watching on YouTube?

Driving Adventures with Hollstein
(aka Laura Hates Being Short and Carmilla Thinks It’s Hilarious)
It’s been forever since I’ve written anything but, I wrote this little drabble, because I couldn’t get the idea out of my mind. I wasn’t planning on posting it anywhere so, I didn’t spend as much time editing it like I would normally. I just wanted to allow myself to just write and enjoy the story.
Enjoy!
Laura is short. This is something Carmilla has always loved pointing out. She is constantly poking fun at Laura’s height (or lack thereof) and found so much pleasure from the adorable, scrunched up face that would cover Laura’s face.
Laura is short. This is something Laura has always hated. She hated not being able to reach anything on the grocery store’s highest shelf and often having to visit a tailor just to get her pants hemmed, so they wouldn’t drag on the floor. She has always hated being 5′2″. She always hated it, that is before she met Carmilla. Carmilla always made fun of her because she was shorted than her. Honestly, Carmilla had very little room to talk, because she was only an inch or two taller than Laura.
Every time Carmilla pointed out her height Laura made a point to exaggerate her anger, hoping to get Carmilla to laugh. It worked every time. Laura loved making Carmilla smile.
“Maybe give the steering wheel some room to breathe. You don’t want to come on too strong.” Carmilla remarked as she watched Laura readjust the driver’s seat that she was sitting in last.
Typically it was Carmilla who would drive them places. Laura preferred to control the radio, read a newspaper, or play a game on her phone as opposed to drive. Tonight, however, Laura insisted on driving to couple t the restaurant she planned for their monthly date night.
After finally moving the seat close enough so she could touch the pedals, Laura had to admit that her seat was much closer to the dash board than she expected. Carmilla seemed to be sitting much further away due to her seat being all the way back.
“Are you sure you’re not just jealous of the steering wheel for getting to be so close to me?” Laura made a point of sounding as sarcastic as possible in an attempt to match Carmilla. Carmilla couldn’t hide the dopey smile that spread across her face. She loved that Laura could go toe-to-toe with her. She was never willing to give up, and that attitude is what attracted Carmilla to her in the first place.
“Sure, because believing that I am jealous of an inanimate object is more believable than the possibility that I am making fun of how short you are.” They were both laughing at this point.
“Well, I know you’re not making fun of me, because you love me and that would be a mean thing to do.” Laura followed her statement up with a pouty lower lip and wide doe-like eyes. Leaning across the console, Carmilla kissed Laura’s lips in order to banish the frown from her face.
“You got that right, Cupcake.”
A soft smile spread across Laura’s face as she started the car and pulled out of the lot.
Usually when Carmilla drove them places, she would always place one hand on Laura. It could be tangled together with her hand, twirling some of her hair, resting on her leg, or across her shoulders. She didn’t care as long as they were making contact. She craved the closeness that only being near Laura could provide. Laura always loved the constant contact as well. It made her feel safe, and it was just another reminder of Carmilla’s constant affection towards her.
For this ride, Laura wanted Carmilla to feel safe and loved the way Laura always did in the passenger’s seat. She took one hand off the steering wheel and blindly reached for Carmilla. However, Laura’s hand didn’t run into Carmilla when she thought she would. Turning her head, she realized that Carmilla’s seat was further back than she thought.
Carmilla caught sight of the wandering hand and immediately grabbed it in hers. She noticed Laura get visibly frustrated. It was almost like Laura was preparing her mind for whatever sarcastic quip Carmilla was going to say about her being short again. Instead, Carmilla silently scooted her seat forward to better match how close Laura was to the dashboard. She got as close as she could without ramming her knees into the hard plastic. She took the hand that was still clutched in between hers and brought it to her mouth. After leaving a kiss on Laura’s fingers, Carmilla set her hands on her lap and allowed Laura’s to go wherever it pleased.
Laura decided on resting the palm of her hand on Carmilla’s exposed thigh.
“I love you, Carm.”
“I love you too, cutie.”
The two of them sat in a comfortable silence, as Laura continued driving down the road. That is, until Carmilla started giggling in the passenger’s seat. Laura threw her a confused look before looking forward again.
“Even if you short.” Carmilla said with a childlike grin.
She couldn’t resist.

I’m Gettin’ Pining for Christmas
Hollstein. Domestic fluff. Christmas fluff. Rating: G. Status: Complete. Words: 2,228.
Summary: In all her life - dead or undead - Carmilla Karnstein was never a big fan of the concept of marriage, or of the celebration of Christmas, but Laura Hollis somehow changed the game. She's had a heartbeat again for years, now. But she doesn't think it has ever raced this fast or panicked this much.

Cold Mornings
Happy Holidays @respectabledeviant! I’m your Secret Santa, and this here’s my gift to you this year. I hope you like it!
Thank you very much for organizing this event @nootvanlis!
The biggest thanks to @sapphicmess and @melimegreenleaf for reading this one over in very short notice.
On AO3
Carmilla smiled sleepily to herself. Laura’s voice, beautiful and clear, carried a familiar tune over to their bedroom, mixed with the sound of wrapping paper. Probably fixing up the presents for later in the day. The sun had not yet come up in the cold christmas morning, stars shining in the clear night sky as Carmilla looked to their window. The peace of the moment, and Laura’s song, almost lulled Carmilla back to sleep, but she had an idea on her mind. Plus, she could never sleep well without Laura in her arms anyway.
Carmilla got up from the bed, humming the same melody as she leaned on the doorway, watching Laura in her pajamas pants and a Christmas sweater. Full of nervous energy, Laura moved boxes under her Christmas' tree.
Music, some said, was a gift from the divine, to mark the unbreakable connection between soulmates. Songs could only be heard once one loved, and was loved, by another. It had been one of Carmilla’s greatest frustrations. The workings of the instruments, how a piano made notes reach the air, how a violin or a guitar accomplished the same but in a different form, or so others told her, was something that fascinated Carmilla.
She had never heard a single note in her life. Until she had barged into the last available dorm room of an Austrian university of questionable quality. There she had seen the girl who would become her best friend, nose scrunched and face bunched in an adorable frown. “Who the hell are you?” Laura had demanded, and in those words, Carmilla heard a few timid notes, coming in from one of their neighbors down the hall.
Their relationship hadn’t exactly started off in the best way, but Carmilla wouldn’t change a thing. Every small gesture of care Laura made for her also made the notes slowly come together into a melody, a violin’s lone, beautiful sound, Carmilla had learned. And once Laura had taken her hand for an impromptu waltz in their dorm one late night in their second year, Carmilla heard a symphony guide their steps. The way Laura followed on time had given Carmilla so much hope. The kiss that followed made her heart jump on time too.
It hadn’t all been roses, of course. They were both very stubborn, and in those early days they had struggled to truly communicate with one another, but they learned, and their song grew with them.
“Carm, what are you doing up? Did I wake you? Sorry about that, I was just thinking about Mattie’s gift. Should we have gone with that chess set instead of the necklace? And shouldn’t the tree be a little closer to the window?”
Laura stepped in front of her. Blinking away the memories, Carmilla smiled while her wife rambled on. Mattie could be intimidating when she wanted to, which hadn’t worked so well on Laura. Things had been tense between them until a shared hatred of certain politicians had been discovered. After that, a friendship Carmilla was very thankful for had sprung up between her sister and Laura. It had also resulted in a weird gift-giving competition that Carmilla really didn’t want to get involved in.
“Don’t worry about it, liebling. And don’t worry about the gift or tree either, Mattie’s gonna love that necklace and the tree is fine where it is.”
Laura gave a shy smile, stepping closer to Carmilla. “I know baby. It’s our first christmas in this house, I just want it to be as good as it can be.”
Christmas was important for Laura, and Carmilla’s heart melted at how worried she sounded. She closed the small distance left between them, pulling Laura into a hug. They both relaxed immediately, even the cold being forgotten as the comfort and warmth of each other surpassed it. The song, their song, took a soft turn Carmilla loved more than almost any other part.
Carmilla held on tighter, arms around Laura’s middle, and said, “You’re here. That’s more than enough for a perfect christmas to me.”
Laura chuckled, hiding her face further in the crook of Carmilla’s neck. “You’re a softie.” She placed a gentle kiss on Carmilla’s neck. “My softie.”
Carmilla couldn’t help but giggle at that. “Yeah yeah, don’t let it get to your head. Now, how about we go back to bed, it’s far too cold to stay up.”
Laura nodded, but when she pulled back, there was a mischievous smile on her face. “Oh, and I’m sure we’re only going back to sleep, aren’t we?”
Carmilla’s answering smirk had the intended effect. She could feel Laura shivering in her arms, a soft sigh leaving her lips. Having such an effect on her wife never stopped making her proud. “I did think about using the gift we got for each other, but now I think I’d rather have breakfast in bed instead.”
Laura laughed at that. “And a dork, you’re also a dork.” Carmilla smiled brightly in answer. Dork or not, it did not stop Laura from leading them back to their bed. Or from kissing Carmilla deeply, as if they hadn’t been doing this just last night. Carmilla answered in kind, and soon enough, their clothes lay in a discarded pile on the floor, cold forgotten.
Carmilla pressed Laura down on their bed, lips only leaving Laura’s to start trailing down her neck and collarbone, biting and sucking bruises on her way down. She loved seeing the marks left on Laura’s skin after, a primal sense of pride awakened by them, and by the marks Laura left on her too. That was one of the best parts of winter, they could make as many hickeys on the other as they wanted, with no worries about teasing from their friends over it.
Laura’s hands tangled on Carmilla’s long hair, her small moans growing louder as Carmilla continued down, taking an already pebbled nipple into her mouth and sucking hard, her left hand pinching and rolling the other between thumb and forefinger.
“Carm.” Laura breathed her name like a prayer, in time with the melody running through Carmilla’s head, each of their moans and sighs adding to the music.
Carmilla could, and often did, play with Laura's breasts for a long time, making Laura beg for her fingers and mouth to go lower. But it was christmas, and she was feeling generous. She let go of the nipple, kissed the skin over Laura's heart tenderly, eyes never leaving Laura’s, and slowly made her way down.
She scratched Laura’s abs with blunt nails, enjoying the reaction that caused, before gripping Laura’s hips. Her wife’s legs opened wider for her, and Carmilla couldn’t help but lick her lips. Laura was already so wet. Carmilla lowered her head, about to take Laura’s clit into her mouth, but stopped short. The whine of frustration that caused made her smile. “Don’t look away from me, Laura.”
And with that, she dove in. Laura’s taste was heavenly on her tongue as she licked her from her clit to her entrance. Laura’s grip on her hair tightened to the point of almost hurting, but Carmilla didn’t care. Their shared soul song was reaching a crescendo as she took Laura’s clit into her mouth, lashing it with her tongue before grazing her teeth against the bundle of nerves. Laura’s moans were getting louder, and she nearly screamed Carmilla’s name when two fingers entered her, curling and pushing against the spot Carmilla knew drove Laura crazy.
Laura’s golden eyes were almost closed, but she didn’t look away from Carmilla once. Only when Carmilla judged it was enough, and sucked hard on Laura’s clit at the same time she curled her fingers inside her, only then did Laura throw her head back as she screamed her release, a chant of Carmilla’s name becoming the chorus of their music.
As the melody slowly dropped back to its normal tune, Carmilla helped Laura ride out the aftershocks, before pulling out of her and licking her fingers clean. That got a soft whine from Laura, which had Carmilla chuckling. She laid her head on Laura’s belly, kissing the mark there. Laura ran her hand through Carmilla’s dark locks, gently working out the tangles her grip had left there.
Soon enough Laura would get her breath back, and it would be her name waking up their neighbors as she drove Carmilla to the edge. But for now they both rested, the shared beat of their soul song saying everything without a word. Carmilla sighed in contentment, this was a perfect christmas morning.

↳ Ao3 Link
A week out from Christmas and Laura was certain Carm wasn’t jumping for joy about the upcoming Holiday season, they’d had many debates over why Christmas was a quote un-quote ‘Stupid Holiday’. Laura had instigated a temporary cease fire after Carmilla had been rather inventive with some more suggestive uses for sugary snacks, and though Laura may never look at a candy cane the same she had decided to give convincing Carmilla of the holiday magic one last shot. Her hopes weren’t very high considering the last time they had attempted to do some last minute shopping. Carmilla had spent half the time making snarky comments about the frosted decorations, rolling her eyes at the Santa in the mall and had proceeded to steal an alarming number of gingerbread cookies before Laura had forcefully shoved her away from the stall, scolding her for all of a few minutes before she had caved and ran back to grab a handful herself.
So when Laura trudged home after a long day of work she didn’t expect to see her beautiful girlfriend in their front room wrestling a real (yes, real) 7 ft Christmas tree into their tiny apartment. Her bag fell to the floor, her jaw practically joining it as she looked around the room in astonishment. All around the front room fairy lights were carefully and meticulously strung. The Hufflepuff blanket that usually covered the sofa was replaced with a deep red velvet looking throw and the cushions that Carmilla claimed to despise were scattered near the arm rests. The mirror that rested above the fireplace (Carmilla’s unlimited trust fund had secured them that beauty) now had a snowflake sticker border and below, hung on the mantelpiece, were two Christmas stockings. Laura’s stocking was a soft yellow colour like the sun starting to set and had the Hufflepuff crest embroidered on the front with ‘Laura Eileen Hollis’ stitched in cursive along the white top. It was a little worn and the stitching was a little loose but it was handmade from her father and Laura wasn’t about to part with it any time soon. On the other side was Carmilla’s stocking - another gift from Sherman Hollis who insisted that Carmilla must join in with the Hollis family traditions despite Carmilla trying and failing to persuade him not to. Though she would never admit it out loud, Laura knew Carmilla was moved by the gesture. Carmilla’s stocking was a deep purple colour with black piping along the top and her name stitched in white cursive thread. In the centre a cartoon panther lay asleep embroidered into the fabric. Laura’s grin widened when she saw several perfectly wrapped stocking filler shaped presents sticking out of each stocking.
Her eyes drifted down towards the logs in front of the fire each crafted with different artistic designs. Laura chuckled as she caught sight of several screaming painted faces, of course Carmilla would make her want to rescue a bunch of wooden logs. Shaking her head she spun around, finally catching Carmilla’s eye as her girlfriend finished propping up the tree. Carmilla startled, her hand instinctively moving up to scratch the back of her neck as a shy smile worked its way onto her face.
“H-hey Creampuff, didn’t see you there.”
Laura stepped closer, smile widening.
“I can see that. What’s all this? I seem to remember someone saying a ‘holiday where you can’t kill someone is a stupid holiday’.” Laura says in a terrible impression of Carmilla, raising her eyebrow expectantly.
Carmilla barks out a laugh, moving closer to Laura as she speaks. “First, I don’t talk like that.”
Laura flashes her a mock glare sticking her tongue out as Carmilla smirks in response.
“and I still think it’s a worthless over commercialised, over-expensive sad excuse for a-”
Laura starts to pout so Carmilla continues with a playful eye roll. “-anyway, I know how much Christmas means to you so I figured I could give this stupid holiday another chance.” She says with a nonchalant shrug.
Laura steps closer, her pout replaced with a dazzling smile of adoration as she pulls Carmilla in for a tight hug.
“I’m ignoring that insult because you are the best girlfriend ever!” Laura exclaims leaning in to capture Carmilla’s lips in a soft kiss.
She pulls back and this time it’s Carmilla who pouts. Laura grins, pecking Carmilla’s lips a few more times before her excitement takes over, clapping eagerly as her eyes fill with joy.
“I’ve seen that look before.” Carmilla comments warily.
“I know what would make this even better!” Laura shouts darting out of the room with far too much determination for Carmilla’s liking.
‘Please don’t be what I think it is.’ Carmilla mutters to herself, knowing she’s lost when she hears Laura start to rummage through their closet. It can only mean one thing…
****
“Carm, you have to smile!” Laura reiterated for the 10th time, huffing when Carmilla’s pout intensifies.
“You promised we would do this.” Laura pleads, fluttering her eyelashes and giving Carmilla a soft smile, “please Carm.”
“I look like Santa threw up on me.” Carmilla whines gesturing angrily to the bright red sweater she was sporting.
“Well I think you look adorable, but I do have some other sweaters if you want to pick something else, there’s a bright pink one if you’d prefer that.” Laura suggests smirking when Carmilla aggressively shakes her head grumbling under her breath.
“I miss my old sweater.”
“Oh hush you, and for the love of Hogwarts put on the hat I gave you.” She chastises.
“Why can’t I have the antlers?”
“Geez, stop being so difficult!”
Another groan is her response, their eyes meet both glaring at one another before Carmilla whines - actually whines and grabs the Santa’s hat placing it on her head and then turning away defiantly.
“Aw come on, if you smile for one picture I will make it worth your while.” Laura says in a suggestive tone, lowering her voice as she leans in to trail kisses down Carmilla’s neck.
Carmilla hums and tilts her head to give Laura more room, the soft brushes of Laura’s lips becoming more insistent as Carmilla’s face starts to heat up. Laura starts to kiss her way back up her neck and then her jaw, finally kissing her lips and nipping lightly. Carmilla tugs her closer, her hands tangling in Laura’s hair, playing with the ends of it as they melt into the embrace. Laura’s hand comes around to cup Carmilla’s neck as she deepens the kiss, her tongue brushing against Carmilla’s lower lip and begging for entrance that Carmilla willingly gives her. When they eventually break for air their foreheads press against each other, breathless with messy hair and flushed faces and matching smiles. Neither notice the self timer going off or the camera flashing and catching their candid pose before they are rushing back in, getting impossibly closer as hands start to roam. When Carmilla practically rips their sweaters off Laura can’t find it in herself to care, her chastising replaced with loud moans and cries of Carmilla’s name, their matching sweaters carelessly flung across the room.
“Have I mentioned how much I hate Christmas shopping?!” Carmilla snarks as they enter yet another shop.
“Only about 50 times today.” Laura quips back, pulling Carmilla straight towards the baking aisle.
“Do we really need to do this? I told you I was only joking.”
“You challenged me and you know how much I love a challenge.” Laura responds grinning as she grabs some supplies.
Carmilla shakes her head but can’t keep the smile from her face when Laura pokes her tongue out in concentration, turning to her with a determined smile.
“We’re going to need a basket. Wait here.” Laura says mostly to herself as she rushes away in search of a basket.
She returns moments later armed with a basket which already contains several boxes of chocolate chip cookies, which Carmilla knows are definitely not essential to their baking competition and she can’t resist teasing her a little.
“I don’t think 5 packets of cookies are needed for a gingerbread house Cupcake.”
Laura’s cheeks redden as she playfully shoves Carmilla who chuckles before wrapping an arm around her shoulder and kissing her head.
“If you don’t stop teasing me I won’t share my cookies with you.” Laura states folding her arms and glaring at her girlfriend.
“Oh please, we both know you won’t be sharing them with me regardless.” Carmilla replies with a smug smile, smirking more when Laura huffs and stomps in front.
It takes all of a few strides for her to catch up, pulling Laura in for a soft kiss and continuing their shop holding hands.
They take a coffee breaks which consists of Carmilla insisting that Laura perch in her lap as she seductively sucks excess whipped cream from her finger. It takes everything Laura has not to act on her lust; she fails and ends up dragging Carmilla by her scarf to the Starbucks bathroom. They leave hastily, smoothing their clothes and combing their very obvious sex hair and trying to hide the embarrassment, it turns to full blown laughter when they catch sight of an elderly couple staring at them in horror.
When they return to their apartment, bags bursting, their lust is momentarily forgotten and replaced by fierce competition and teasing trash talk.
***
Carmilla chuckled as Laura swore again, glaring at her as she plucked another icing pen out of Laura’s reach.
“Quit hogging the pens!” Laura whined reaching across to snatch it.
Carmilla smirked, waiting until Laura was an inch away before moving to hold the pen above her head.
“Carm! Just give me-” again Laura grabbed Carmilla’s hand tugging at her arm to take the pen and once again Carmilla moved it away smirking as Laura’s eyebrows sharpened, her eyes narrowing as she glared, actually stomping her foot in protest.
“You are such a cheater!”
“You’re such a sore loser Creampuff.” Carmilla teased.
“Am not!” Laura snaps.
“I love that bunched up face you make when you’re mad, it’s hot.” Carmilla says winking as Laura growls in response.
“Well I must be breathtaking because I’m furious!”
Carmilla shakes her head with a smile, placing the pen on the kitchen island and wrapping an arm around Laura’s shoulder, soothingly rubbing up and down her arm.
“How about we make the cookies together before this turns into a bloodbath.” she suggests nudging Laura’s shoulder playfully.
Laura bites her lip pausing before she relents, nodding with a small smile. Her eyes fall to the pile of cookies Carmilla had made instead of a house.
“Gingerbread zombies? Really Carm?!” Laura laughs as Carmilla shrugs with an awkward smile.
***
Carmilla had been trying and failing to read her book for the past hour and a half.
First she was distracted by Laura insisting they kiss under every strategically placed string of mistletoe (not that she complained). Then Laura had wrestled with Carmilla over which object should become their tree topper, which had resulted in Carmilla having to suffer through a Laura Hollis pout after she’d shot down the idea of Laura’s custom made Lois Lane figurine decorating their tree - in her defence it was twice as heavy as most of the other decorations and it had taken her hours to secure the far too large tree in their apartment. After the pouting had finally ceased Laura had decided that the apartment was “too quiet” and the holidays songs were blasted.
Carmilla sat in the chair watching as Laura bobbed around shimmying and doing the most outrageously cheesy moves as she proceeded to belt ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ for the fourth time. Four times and Carmilla had finally had enough, slamming her book closed as she stormed over to the speakers. As if she could sense the nightmare that was turning her music off Laura spun around eyes widening as Carmilla started to unhook her phone. “Nooooo!” Laura shrieked running over to her girlfriend, standing protectively in front of the speakers. “I won’t let you turn it off.”
“If I hear one more Mariah Carey song I will riot.” Carmilla quipped holding up a finger threateningly.
“Don’t be such a grinch.” Laura shot back. “It’s my phone and I say the Christmas music stays on.”
Carmilla clenched her jaw, sighing before an idea forms and she pushes Laura aside.
“Hey!-”
Carmilla instantly shushes her with a kiss on the nose, turning back to finish her typing. Laura waits in confusion, a second later soft lyricless music plays - it’s an old song that Laura doesn’t recognise but there’s a smile on Carmilla’s face so she can’t bring herself to change it. She matches the smile when Carmilla grabs her hand, twirling her closer as they move to the music, falling into a classic waltz.
“See, this is much better than that other drivel.”
Laura hums resting her head against Carmilla’s shoulder as they sway to the music.
“You’ve been quieter today.” Laura comments. “I know you miss her, maybe one day you can tell me about some of your holiday traditions.”
They fall into a comfortable silence letting the soft tones guide their movements. When Laura tilts her head up Carmilla meets her half way pecking her lips softly. As they pull away Laura can see how Carmilla’s eyes glisten, a sad smile replacing the gentle one she had only moments ago.
“I didn’t meant to upset you Carm. I just wanted you to know that you don’t have to hold back, I love you - all of you and I’m sorry that I ever made you feel as though you have to hide parts of yourself from me.” Their eyes locked and Laura smiled soft, her hands coming to rest on Carmilla’s shoulders.
“I know.” Carmilla whispered ducking her head as a tear escaped her.
Laura moved a hand under her chin, tilting her head back up as she used her thumb to catch the tear. She lent in, kissing Carmilla’s cheeks and then kissing her lips; she could feel Carmilla’s tears falling and how Carmilla’s lip trembled against her own. She pulled Carmilla closer, pouring everything she wanted to say into their embrace.
“It’s okay. You’re okay.” Laura uttered the words against Carmilla’s lips, repeating them softly everytime they broke apart.
Carmilla shuddered against her, pulling back as she choked out a laugh, the sound harsh and broken.
“Mattie would be calling me a sap right about now.”
“That sounds like something she would do.” Laura agreed keeping a tight hold on Carmilla as she let her continue.
“There weren’t any traditions as such, but, she- she would take us to a rooftop and we’d look at the stars and for that one night we could be free. Free from Maman and the burdens we faced, we would laugh and sing, watching as lanterns filled the sky or as the snow started to fall. It was something Mattie could give me that no one could take away.”
As Carmilla spoke Laura could hear the passion in her voice, the softness as she spoke her sister’s name, her voice turning wistful.
“I just- I know you have the dimwit squad and the ginger twins and we have your dad, and I am so unbelievably grateful that I get to share this life with you but there’s an ache, I can’t help but wish she were here too. I’m scared of forgetting her.” Carmilla answers, tears welling up once more.
“I don’t think you could forget her even if you wanted to.” Laura brushes a lock of hair behind Carmilla’s ear before continuing, “it’s okay to miss her Carm. I know Mattie and I didn’t always see eye to eye but I would love to hear about your adventures - I’m sorry if me pushing Christmas upset you.”
Carmilla shook her head squeezing Laura’s arm as she spoke, her voice softer than usual.
“I may not get this stupid holiday and yes, maybe some part of me is still hurting but I like being festive with you, I love that you sing around the house and that we wear matching sweaters. How I have to stop you from eating all of the candy canes and watching you get excited over cheesy decorations at the mall. I like it because it makes you happy, because I love you.”
Laura smiled wider than before, happy tears forming as she kissed Carmilla once and then twice pulling apart with a smirk.
“You really are a sap.”
Carmilla rolled her eyes mumbling a barely audible “shut up” and tugging Laura back towards her, their lips meeting once more. The soft music continued to play as they got lost in one another, tears replaced with much more enjoyable cries and breathy gasps. They fell asleep curled up together, soft smiles still on their faces feeling closer than ever.

I'm currently 6k words through my Carmilla fan fiction :) It's not the one where Laura is possessed by the Dean but something completely different. This one could be considered a movie rewrite since it strays from canon after the series, but it still has the same angst and an in-depth look into Carm's character! :D I'll try to post updates about it later, but I want to finish it before I begin posting so I don't leave an incomplete fic lolol

ooh what’s this amnesia fic you mentioned? what fandom is it for?
Ooh boy… Do you like angst? Do you like lesbians? Do you like non-linear storytelling? Do you like 300k+ words of pure art that you will most definitely stay up all night reading? If so, let me introduce you to What’s Mine Is Yours… Always (lovingly nicknamed ‘Amnesia’) by the brilliant onlythebestfandoms on Ao3!
This is a Carmilla Series fic featuring Hollstein (Laura Hollis/Carmilla Karnstein) as the main pairing. If you’ve watched Carmilla but haven’t read this yet, what are you doing? Go read it now! If you haven’t watched Carmilla, I highly recommend doing so first, but you could probably still read Amnesia as a stand-alone story and enjoy it. As an AU, it’s different enough from canon that you don’t need a ton of context from the show to understand what’s going on, and the author does a wonderful job of fleshing out the characters in-universe.
The main premise of the story is that Laura gets into an accident and loses all memory of her fiancée, Carmilla. The two must navigate the challenges this memory loss brings to their relationship, with Laura getting to know her partner for the second time, and Carmilla coming to terms with being a stranger to the love of her life.
Back when this fic was a WIP and updating weekly, a bunch of us dedicated readers (and the author!) formed a little book club of sorts to discuss each update. This later evolved into the Silas Library Club discord, where we also did weekly live group readings of each chapter in 2020. If you read this fic and want to chat about it, I’m sure there will be a few willing participants there ;)
Here’s a link to the fic, enjoy!
