Unwanted: Chapter 1, Unarmed - Pt. 3
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Avenger!Fem!Reader
Summary: When your FWB relationship with your best friend Bucky Barnes turns into something more, you couldn’t be happier. That is, however, until a new Avenger sets her sights on your super soldier and he inadvertently breaks your heart. You take on a mission you might not be prepared for to put some distance between the two of you and open yourself up to past traumas. Too bad the only one who can help you heal is the one person you can no longer trust.
Warnings: (For this part only; see Story Masterlist for general Warnings) Language, poorly translated Russian, mentions of CSA/trafficking, mentions of death, emotional repression of childhood trauma, Bucky nightmares, bonding over trauma, some fluff and comfort.
Word Count: 2.6k
Previously On...: You literally ran into Bucky in the hallway outside your rooms and bond over a shared love of Middle Earth like the fucking nerds you are. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
A/N: I know this part introduces some heavy backstory for our Dear Reader. Please know writing this for her has been a therapeutic exercise for me in dealing with trauma from my own childhood, which, coincidentally, has been shoved back into the forefront of my life recently, forcing me to re-evaluate things I thought I had processed. Please know that I'm not approaching this subject flippantly, and her reactions/attitudes have been based on my own healing (or rather, suppressing) journey.

Your friendship with Bucky only continued to grow from there. There was something about him, his quiet demeanor, his gentle sense of humor, that made you feel an immediate connection with him, as if you'd known him for ages instead of just a few weeks. You weren't one to open up to others easily; it had taken you over a year to trust that Tony didn't have any ulterior motives for befriending you, but with Bucky, it was effortless, as if you couldn't have stopped it even if you wanted to.
About three weeks into his residency at the Tower, you were exposed to your first instance of one of Bucky's nightmares. He'd told you he frequently had them, but you'd yet to experience one firsthand. You hadn't been able to sleep-- your own losing battle with insomnia--, so you were coming back up from getting a late night snack in the communal kitchen when you heard the muffled shouting coming from behind his door. At first, you were going to ignore it, sure that it was his television, but you heard him utter a single, desperate "Pozhaluysta," the sound of it so heartbreaking that your breath caught in your lungs. Please.
Crossing over to Bucky's door, you knocked softly. "Bucky? It's Pocket. Are you okay? I heard shouting." You waited for an answer... but nothing. Taking a step closer, you put an ear to the door, holding your breath. You could make out the sound of frantic thrashing, cries of "Net!" and then a whimper. He sounded like he was in trouble, like he was in pain.
"FRIDAY," you said to the AI that ran the tower, "open the door."
"I'm sorry, Ms. (Y/L/N), but Sergeant Barnes has locked his door for the evening."
"For fucks' sake, FRIDAY," you muttered. "Enact override protocol 346.78C." There was no point in being the Avenger's resident computer genius if you couldn't hack their home automation system, was there? You heard the click of Bucky's door unlocking. Turning the handle and hoping that asking him for forgiveness was easier than asking for permission, you stepped inside.
It took a moment for your eyes to adjust, but once you were able to make out shapes in the gloom of the darkened suite, you saw that the layout was relatively similar to your own. You made your way over to the bed, expecting to see Bucky writhing on it in the midst of his nightmare, but it was empty, stripped of all bedding, just a bare mattress.
Then you heard him, thrashing from the space between the bed and the wall. You shuffled over to the other side and found the super soldier lying on the floor, tangled in his sheets. A thin sheen of sweat covered his naked torso, a pair of sweat pants riding low on his hips. His face was contorted in agony as his head twisted from side to side.
"Net! Net!" he cried out in Russian, fighting off invisible assailants, "Pozhaluysta, ne nado! Eto bol'no!" No! No! Please, no! It hurts!
It physically pained your heart to see him struggling like this, so you did the first thing that came to mind-- you threw yourself across him, wrapping your arms around his body and holding him in place, whispering back to him in Russian: "Ty v poryadke, ty v poryadke. Ty v bezopasnosti. Nikto ne mozhet prichinit' tebe vred." You're okay, you're okay. You're safe. No one can hurt you. "I've got you, Bucky. You're safe."
It was a long moment before you realized that his thrashing had stopped, his heartbeat had slowed, and he had wrapped his arm around you, holding you to him as if you were a lifeline.
You pulled back, allowing him to sit up.
"Pocket?" he asked, voice laced with confusion at seeing you, as though he wasn't sure if he was actually awake or not. "What are you doing here? And... were you speaking Russian, or was I dreaming?"
Suddenly shy, you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, avoiding looking at him. Jesus. He literally just woken up to you throwing yourself on top of him. "I-I'm sorry," you stammered. "I was walking by, and it sounded like you were having a nightmare. I was worried, so I came in to check on you. I'll let you go back to sleep. Sorry." You got up to go, but his hand reached out and encircled your wrist, gently holding you in place.
"No," he murmured, pulling you back down to the floor next to him. "You were right, I was having a nightmare. I... I told you I get them, sometimes. Memories, really. Of things Hydra... did to me. Things they... things they made me do. Thank you," he looked up at you, catching your eyes through the darkness and holding your gaze. "Thank you for waking me up, for taking me out of it."
You gulped, the night becoming far more intimate than you could have anticipated when you went downstairs to grab a pint of ice cream earlier. You forced a smile. "Of course. What are friends for?"
"Are we?" he asked, his voice suddenly low, causing a pool of warmth to collect in the bottom of your stomach. "Friends?"
"Of course, Buck." You gave him a concerned look. "Why wouldn't we be?"
"Because I'm a monster, Pocket." Bucky lowered his head in his shame. "I'm a murderer and a monster."
"Oh, Bucky, no." You took his chin into your hands and brushed a strand of hair away from his face. "Sweetie, no, you're not. You were a victim. You didn't consent to a single thing Hydra made you do. I know that it's going to take you a long time to believe that, but it's the truth. I promise you it is." He closed his eyes and nodded.
"Pocket, do you think..." he looked away from you, almost shyly, "do you think you could stay? After a nightmare, I... Well, I don't really like being alone."
"And Rogers isn’t one for midnight cuddling, huh?" you teased, a playful smile on your lips. You couldn't see it, but you could practically feel the sardonic look he was giving you. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Yes, I'll stay. But Bucky, I have one rule--"
"I'll keep my hand to myself and be a perfect gentleman, I promise," he said solemnly.
"Pfft," you scoffed. "I don't give a shit about that. Be as handsy as you want. No, my one rule is: I am not sleeping on the fucking floor." Bucky rewarded you with another one of his genuine laughs. You couldn't articulate how happy it made you feel knowing that you were the cause of that laughter.
"You got it," he said, as he stood up and began to move his sheets and pillows back to the bed. "Nothing but the best for you, doll."
Your insides glowed at this new nickname, and you were positive he was going to notice how his words made you light up in the dark. You busied yourself with helping him make up the bed before crawling under the covers. You tried not to be too obvious as you inhaled the scent of Bucky on the pillowcase. He smelled like cedar and leather and something unidentifiable that was just so quintessentially Bucky that it had become your favorite scent. You wanted to bottle it up and use it like a fabric spray so you'd always be surrounded by it.
The bed dipped as Bucky got in, pulling the covers up over himself. "Thank you for this, Pocket," he whispered.
You turned onto your side to face him. "Of course. Any time, Bucky; I sincerely mean that. I know what it's like; I have them, too."
"You do?" You felt him reach for you in the dark, taking your hand and interlacing his fingers with yours. "You can tell me about them. If you want to."
You nodded, before realizing he probably couldn't see you, so you hummed an affirmative. There was something about the cover of night that made you feel brave, safe in opening up to Bucky; you found yourself wanting to tell him what kept you awake at night. You took a deep breath.
"I... didn't have the best childhood," you began, trying to keep your voice steady. "My father took off before I was old enough to even remember what he looked like, and my mother was always more interested in getting high than she was with being a parent. I was in and out of foster care for a while when I was a little girl." Buck squeezed your hand in sympathy and you continued: "Then she got this boyfriend, Darren." God, even now, the taste of his name on your tongue was like bitter bile. "For a little while, things were… better. Mom got her shit together enough that Social Services sent me back to live with her. I could almost believe that things were going to be okay. I mean, we even stayed in the same place for more than six months. I went to school regularly. It almost made me feel like a normal kid."
"What happened?" You barely heard Bucky's whispered question. You let out a harsh, disillusioned laugh.
"Puberty," you told him. "I turned eleven, got boobs and suddenly Darren's paying a lot more attention to me." You felt Bucky tense in the bed beside you. "Of course, that's entirely my fault, right?" you continued. "At least according to my mother. They started fighting more often, and she went back to the booze and meth. Stopped giving a shit about everything. Going to work, paying bills, making sure I went to school, whether or not I even ate. Only thing that mattered was where the next fix was going to come from." You took a breath. This next part was the hardest, and Tony was the only one you'd ever told the entire truth of the matter to.
"And with Mom incapacitated, boyfriend feels he's got free reign," Bucky supplied for you.
"Yeah," you swallowed, grateful you hadn't needed to actually say it, yourself.
"Pocket," Bucky began, "that's aw--"
"There's more," you admitted before he could continue. "Darren liked to bet on horses but, like absolutely everything else he ever did, he was complete shit at it. Ended up owing some horrible guys a lot of money. There was no way in hell he'd have been able to come up with it, so he... proposed a trade."
"God," Bucky breathed. "Oh, Pocket. I am so, so sorry."
"Thanks," you said, wishing that was the end of it, but knowing that you still weren't finished. "Darren realized he had a valuable commodity that a, uh, certain kind of man would pay good money for, and he wasn't just going to let such a lucrative income stream go to waste. He was an idiot, but he wasn't that dumb."
Next to you, Bucky sucked in a breath. You could practically feel him vibrating with anger for your younger self. "How long?" he asked through gritted teeth.
"Seven years, more or less. When I turned 18, I grabbed every important document I could get my hands on, hightailed it to Boston and never looked back. But the memories, the nightmares? They still haunt me. Even after all this time, they’ve never fully gone away. So, you know, I get it."
There was silence for a moment, but then Bucky cleared his throat and asked: "Where is he now?"
"He's got himself a nice little plot of land in Pensacola," you said, a smile ghosting your face.
"So, he got off Scott-free." Bucky's voice was a low growl.
"Oh, I didn't say that, you said slyly. "That nice little plot is a pauper's grave at Pensacola Federal Prison Camp. Bastard got himself shanked in the slammer about ten years ago. Happiest day of my fucking life.
Bucky's laugh was low and dry. "What about your mom? Please tell me she got what she deserved, too."
You shifted slightly, propping your head up onto your hand. "Honestly, I have no idea what happened to her. The way she drank, she's probably long dead by now, and I could honestly not care less. That's why I have everyone call me Pocket." Bucky moved to mirror your position, using a pillow to prop himself up instead of an arm, so you were laying eye to eye, only a few inches separating your faces.
"Okay, explain to me how that makes sense," he said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, his warm breath fanning pleasantly across your skin.
His touch was gentle and you found yourself subtly leaning into it. "My legal name is (Y/N)," you told him. "It was my mother's name, too. I know that 'Pocket's a ridiculous nickname, but when people call me that, it's like I'm someone else, someone new. I'm not that scared little girl that had all those horrible things happen to her. I'm someone I made myself into." Your voice had dropped to barely a whisper as you admitted it to him.
He studied you for a moment before speaking, voice low. "Thank you for trusting me with this, Pocket."
You let out a small laugh. "I think we might need to make each other some matching friendship bracelets or something after all of this sharing," you told him. Bucky laughed with you, and the tension that had been hovering in the air lessened. You hadn't meant to get so deep into your personal history, or to get emotional, but sharing your story with Bucky brought you a sense of relief; at the very least, you'd helped take Bucky's mind off of his own nightmares, even if it had meant delving back into your own.
You both fell silent for a moment, and then Bucky spoke again, his voice soft and hesitant. "Pocket, can I ask you something? A favor?"
You looked at him, noticing how his eyes glinted in the dark. "Yeah, of course, Bucky. What's up?"
He swallowed audibly, his grip returning to your hand. "I don't want to overstep or make you uncomfortable, so maybe this is too much to ask, but… do you think… maybe we could… I don't know… be there for each other? You know, when we have nightmares? Just... hold each other, maybe?"
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, your mind suddenly racing with implications. Was he suggesting what you thought he was suggesting? Did he want to… cuddle with you? Your body was suddenly acutely aware of how close you were to him, of the heat that radiated off of his body. You licked your lips before answering, your voice coming out a little huskier than you intended. "I mean… I wouldn't be opposed to that. If you think it would help, then I'm all for it."
Bucky let out a small sigh of relief, his hand moving to cup your cheek, his thumb rubbing soothing circles. "Thank you, Pocket. You have no idea how much it means to me."
You leaned into his touch, a shiver running down your spine at the gentleness of it. "I think I might. I mean, I don't know exactly what you went through, but I know what it's like to feel scared and alone."
Bucky leaned in, his lips brushing against your forehead as he whispered, "Neither of us have to be alone anymore. We'll be here for each other."
And then, without another word, he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you close to his chest. You could feel the beat of his heart, steady and strong, and the warmth that radiated off of him made you feel safe, taken care of. You wrapped your arms around him in return, feeling a new sense of peace and security you hadn't known in a long, long time. Maybe ever.

My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
Characters: Loki
Summary: You return to your childhood home to put the past to rest.
Part of the Backwoods AU
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging.
You never really thought of Hammer Ford as home. You only ever tried to forget it and the turbulent years of your childhood. You let the memories haze away with the chaos of the urban rush. Office doors and honking cars easily overwrote the map work of your mind. A less than glamorous life, but peaceful. That’s all you ever wanted.
Your return is inevitable. You knew that. For years, you outran that fact. One day, you would need to face those dusty rural roads and the whispers in the wind. That day has come despite your stubbornness. A week after the news came and you could find no other excuse to stay away.
Not home, just the past. A piece of you you can’t erase. A shame you’ll never fully shake.
The welcome sign, beneath an iron statue of a hammer on a cloud, marks the village edge. You grip the wheel tighter and swallow dryly. Your bladder aches from the coffee you chugged after the last rest stop. You still have some ways to go.
Funny to think that despite its sprawling roads sparse layout, that the populace is so tight knit, the small hamlet untouched by the world outside. The same red barn up on the hill, the gate of the Grove in all its resplendence, and the short strip of businesses before the earth rolls into hills and flattens to fields.
You steer off into the northeast. The Maps app stopped working a few miles back. You don’t need the automated voice to guide you. It all comes back to you so clearly. Just around this curve and behind the barn, there’s the old path behind the Berrys. On and on, behind the overgrown brush to the house by the river.
Your tires mulch in the dirt as you brake. You shift and shut off the engine, looking out at the peeling wooden facade. The house was once a cottage in the glory days of the village, then it was passed along until your parents’ signed the deed. By that time, it was already derelict.
It hasn’t gotten better. The windows are cracked and dusty, the door splintered, and the front steps crooked. You get out and cross your arms, breathing in the damp forest air.
You feel nothing looking up at that shit hole. You thought the sight of it would bring the flood, but nothing. You shake your head. They said your mother was found in the kitchen, at the table with a bottle of vodka. You never expected anything different for her. At last, she’ll be happy. She’s off to see your father again.
You approach the porch but can’t make yourself climb the steps. There’s something blocking, some unseen wall. You just want to turn around, get in the car, and pretend it’s all a dream. Just like you had for all those years.
You lean your head back and blow out through your lips. Eventually you’ll have to go inside. You need sleep. You could curl up in your backseat again but your hips are ragged from last night. You’re supposed to meet Jan tomorrow. He’s got a casket ready and then you have to go to the church to discuss the service. You don’t think they’ll be much of one.
The hotel isn’t an option. Not for you.
As you glare up at the front door, you hear snapping sticks and the hum of another engine. You turn and watch the dark shadow slowly rolling between the trees. The forest green car turns in just behind your bumper and idles as you squint at the tinted windshield.
A curious villager isn’t unexpected. Everyone probably knows old Nadia is dead. You just hoped they’d leave you alone, at least until tomorrow.
You cross your arms and steel yourself. The driver’s door opens and a tall man steps out, his imperious nose sniffing the scent of river water and crinkling. Your chest feels as if it might gave in as his emerald eyes meet yours.
Loki Odinson. The last person you expected. The last person you ever wanted to run into. He turns and opens the back door of the car, reaching in and pulling out a basket of flowers. Your temper curdles up to the back of your throat. How dare he?
“My mother and father send their condolences,” he shuts the door and strides across the dirt. You look down at his leather shoes, should he be dirtying them here?
You just stare at him. You have no words, not that you’re much of a talker. What is there to say? Your mother’s dead and you’re stuck dealing with this dirt hole.
“Hm,” he angles past you and puts the basket on the top step, “should brighten the place up.”
You keep your arms crossed as you stare at him. He looks at you again, his eyes flickering, as if he’s surprised by your gaze. He just remembers the girl who kept her head down, the one with no voice and no backbone.
“Very sorry to hear it. Rather sad way to go. All alone.”
“Tell your parents, it’s appreciated,” you turn and march up the steps, dropping your arms.
You hear a scrape and shift to peek at his silhouette from the corner of your eye. He has his foot propped on the lowest step. The porch groans loudly under your weight.
“And I drove all the way here,” he says.
You shrug. You didn’t ask or expect it. That isn’t your problem.
He’s silent, waiting. He’s just like the rest of Hammer Ford, he hasn’t changed. He’s still the spoiled brat awaiting his prize. Well, you haven’t got one for him. You have nothing for him, no tears, no anger, just indifference.
“I see,” he says at last, “you must be tired from the road, no doubt. Of course, you’ve just lost a parent, I can hardly expect glowing conversation… not that I ever did from you.”
You don’t flinch. You go to the front door and pull out the key you dug out of your old jewelry box. It still works. You let yourself in as the hinges whine loudly. You don’t look back as you let the door clatter shut behind you.
There’s a lull before you hear the engine flip and hum. You stand, listening, waiting for him to be gone. Just like when you were young, hiding behind that door from that boy. Well, you’re both grown now.

Sam Reviews: Factorio Space Exploration
That's Space Exploration the factorio mod (played v0.6), not Space Age the factorio expansion coming soon. I have finally completed SE with the cooperation of two friends across 300+ hours, I don't think I would have bothered to finish on my own, but it was a fine reason to hang out and chat. I had fun, but it was very irregular fun between good bits (spaceships!!) and facepalm bits.
It's A Scale Challenge
Space Exploration is a scale challenge, and I lead with this because I find the documentation misleading. On the Getting Started SE wiki page, which is also linked from the SE mod page, it says:
Space Exploration is mostly a complexity challenge and not a scale challenge. It's completely possible to beat the game with only 20SPM, unless you play with a science multiplier. But it'll still be hard!
Similar descriptions abound. However, Space Exploration has individual technologies mandatory for victory that cost more to research than the entire tech tree of the base game up to and including the Rocket victory research.
It's even worse than that sounds.
"Cost more" can be calculated in a quick and dirty way that vanilla Factorio's Rocket Silo victory tech costs 1000 sets of science packs to research.
Its prerequisite Rocket Control Unit costs 300, and so on back down to basic Automation technology costing merely 10, all of which add up to 5750 in total.
Space Exploration has a mandatory 6400-cost tech, some 5000s, a 4000 and a 3200, several 2000-cost techs used as filler in an already overpriced and bloated tech tree, and a 8000-cost (max spaceship size) that's theoretically optional but avoiding it requires you to play Tetris with your size-constrained spaceship layout.
But the numbers are not directly comparable, and the more detailed count makes Space Exploration look even worse. "5750 sets" vanilla includes several early technologies where the set is a subset, even one single science pack, it costs 50 of [Automation Science] for basic technology and gradually fills out to the Rocket Silo costing 1000 of [Automation, Logistics, Chemical, Utility, Production Science] which is a set of 5.
Space Exploration, meanwhile:
Which is 5000 of a set that's twice as large as the largest in basegame, so more like a 10K victory tech compared to the 1K victory tech in basegame.
But that number still isn't a direct comparison, because the multi-striped science packs in there are high tier packs whose ingredients include lower tier science packs that also need to be produced. Deep Space Science 4 (the black stripes) is made with various input resources + a DSS3 pack, which is made with more input resources + a DSS2 pack, and so on. If you count the fifteen intermediate science packs, it's something like a 25K victory tech compared to the 1K in basegame.
There's numerous techs like this. If you ever play Space Exploration, I advise you to slice a zero off everything. Set the tech cost multiplier to one-tenth. It is severely padded.
Pretty Cool Spaceships
Spaceships are of course the big draw of Space Exploration, though they come pretty late in the game, and before them there's two other methods of moving stuff between planets: Cargo rockets and railguns.
The rockets are very fuel-hungry to launch and also "consume" most of their ingredient parts as stages. The delivery railguns can't move fragile objects or players, and are same-solar-system only. (They double as expensive interplanetary weapons!) Spaceships are reusable as long as you keep them refueled, and much more fuel-efficient, as well as being able to mount laser/gun turrets for defense if landing on a hostile planet. You can even put artillery in a spaceship, which my team used to create a very short-distance-hop spaceship that was more like a suborbital bomber/mobile artillery platform for clearing the hostile fauna off our home planet.
Eventually you get spaceships to transport stuff at custom speed and scale between planets, with the ability to build and design your own. Then, the ability to set spaceship automation with docking clamps and the circuit network, and can give a spaceship instructions amounting to "go to planet X and wait until your onboard storage has 40K Cryonite, go to planet Y and wait until your onboard storage has 0 Cryonite and your fuel tank is refilled". It's the Factorio experience of automating stuff you were manually handling before, but at the much larger scale of interplanetary transport.
Here is my mini-spaceship for personal transport between planets, used to go over and tinker with things, has a few chests but doesn't take bulk cargo:
The side notch is to help me align the refueling underground pipes.
The Mod Maker Is A Control Freak
In the base game you have the opportunity to research Logistics Robots, small flying drones that carry items around for you, making automated transport more convenient so you no longer have to weave together transport belts, underground belts, railroad tracks and other physically connected means of item movement in the infamous "belt spaghetti".
Space Exploration comes with a mandatory dependency on the Robot Attrition mod, which makes logistics robots randomly collide and explode destructively if you're using more than 50 of them. (There's more than 50 item types in SE, so you will want far more than 50 logistics robots.) You can't not include this other mod when playing Space Exploration. There is a game setting which looks like it disables robot attrition, but it actually only disables robot attrition in the starting zone.
"Surely there's another mod which restores robot functionality?" you might ask, since Factorio has a lot of mods. Not that I could find, possibly because Space Exploration is distributed under a "no modding my mod any further" licence, formally the Factorio Mod Limited Distribution Only Licence.
You may make alterations for your own private personal use only. Binding or not, I think that's an amazingly dick move for your Cool Spaceships mod to degrade some unrelated basegame functionality and tell people they aren't allowed to post a modmod which restores that functionality.
In other control freakery, Space Exploration is flagged as incompatible with infinite resource supply/non-depleting ore patch mods for Factorio, because the SE modder feels it would ruin the intended balance of his mod. It's flagged as incompatible with teleportation mods, to force you to use rocket/spaceship transport. It's flagged as incompatible with waterfill mods to prevent you digging wells where the modder wants to enforce a logistic challenge of delivering water in barrels. It's even flagged as incompatible with some mods that change the stack size of some items, because the modder wants to ensure you are inventory-constrained and pay for logistics.
Bizarrely contrary to the spirit of modding, if you ask me, trying to enforce that the mod is played the specific way one person wants you to play it.
Padding, Filler, and Bloat
It's not just the tech tree that suffers this, it's many aspects of the mod, and I'm going to list enough of them to make this post feel ironically padded.
In regular Factorio, when you put a drill on an iron ore patch, it produces iron ore, which you put in a Furnace to smelt into iron plates.
In Space Exploration, when you put a drill on an iridite ore patch, it produces iridite ore, which you put in a Pulverizer to crush into... a random mix of crushed iridium, stone (waste byproduct), and iridite ore that you have to feed back into the pulverizer and try to crush again.
To me this is something I shouldn't have to interact with in Factorio, it should be pre-automated below my notice. If an input ore is not properly crushed in the crushing machine, the crushing machine should keep crushing it until it's crushed, rather than demanding extra player attention to its one job. Reeeee. I have no interest in my factory's machines having what is effectively a random failure chance at doing their job. There is no upgrade tech or better machine which gets rid of that random failure chance.
It might have been interesting with one processing step whose unique gimmick is a failure chance and a need to filter-loop the output back onto the input, but Space Exploration recycles this recycle gimmick over and over again to pad out different processing steps with "do it again".
-
Speaking of random failure chances...
In regular Factorio, the "science packs" are kinda high-level abstractions. You put together a pair of engines, several electronic circuits, and a handful of sulphur to create "Chemical science", which could be taken to vaguely represent a process of destructively testing or consuming something and measuring it.
In Space Exploration, the advanced sciences are data-driven, which is a cool idea. For example you put together plates of iron, copper, stone, plastic, concrete and iridite with a blank data card to create "Tensile strength data" and recycleable scrap, then you use the data card in another recipe to create "Material science" and also outputs "Junk data card" representing data you've already analyzed and can't learn more from, and then you put the junk data card into a spacecomputer to erase the contents and get back a blank data card again.
It's a neat abstract representation of science involving data collection and material testing, with a reusable computer component and am expended material component, and it's undermined by the fact that erasing junk data has a 30% failure rate. That's the chance that the Super-Engineer Protagonist, with nuclear reactors and supercooled computers, will somehow fail to turn a Junk Data Card into a Blank Data Card and will instead break the card. So the data cards are in practice still expended consumables; you'll need to produce millions of them.
-
In regular Factorio, the various grades and kinds of steel (high carbon, low carbon, stainless, etc) are abstracted into a single "Steel plate" item which has many different uses. Storage chests, trains, power poles, handgrenades, armorplating, automation robots all use the same Steel Plate as ingredient.
This design holds true across the game: items represent broad classes of a material, also machines are multipurpose and an "Assembler" machine can be set to make gears, wire, pipes, or other stuff by configuration. One Assembler turns iron plates into gears. The next Assembler combines gears and more plates into engines. The next Assembler combines engines and more gears into transport belts.
In Space Exploration, there's several machines which only have one use, and there's even items which have less than one use.
The only thing the Xray Observation Telescope does is produce Xray Observation Frame items, the only use for Xray Observation Frame is processing into Xray Observation Data, and the only use for Xray Observation Data is combining it with Microwave Observation Data, Infrared Observation Data etc. to produce Astrometric Science. That's also the sole use for those other Observation Datas. All the different wavelength telescopes, the different observation data items, and the different observation data frame items collectively serve one purpose when put together, so I count them as having a fractional use each. Someone call an editor, fucking cut these.
-
In regular Factorio, drills on a copper patch produce 1 Copper Ore per production cycle, which smelts into 1 Copper Plate.
In Space Exploration, drills on a beryl patch produce 1 Beryl Ore per production cycle, and 20 Beryl Ore smelts into 1 Beryllium plate.
(both ratios can be improved somewhat with Productivity Modules in your furnaces)
Which brings me back to the extremely overcosted science packs, because that blue-striped Astronomic Science Pack that you need 5000 of for the rocket victory? Its cost in raw materials for a set of 8 looks like this:
displaying 580 beryl plates instead of the 5800 ore needed, 725 per pack, plus some more for the data cards that don't calculate raw material correctly, adding yet another multiplier layer of bloated tech cost. I am infuriated by whoever wrote "not a scale challenge" on the Scale Challenge Mod which asks you to mine millions of ore to research a single technology.
Arcospheres
I have another post on these, so I'll keep it short: There is a type of special item necessary to win the game, which are only available in limited supply, which you can permanently lose by accident or bad luck.
The available supply is several times larger than what's needed to win, so I wasn't actually threatened by this, but I dislike it on principle.
Also, they're spoiler-enforced by the control freak modder who keeps the helpful information off the official discord, wiki, and mod page.
Verdict: Thumbs Down
I was suckered into this partly because I believed the "not a scale challenge" advertisement when my friend group was considering what to play next, and I regret it. Halfway through we felt it starting to drag, but we were having fun and community and spite so we powered through. This is a reason I have emphasised the bloat so much in my review. This mod really, really needs an editor to cut down numbers and cut out items and simplify processes so you can get to the Fun Spaceships part without so many Mine Literally Million Ore part.

Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) Sonic Part 1: Oh yes it is indeed occurring
Yep. We’re here. At last
God I love that opening cgi, still probably my favorite intro in the series
So. Sonic Adventure. The Dreamcast version, obviously. The gentlemen’s way of playing this game, whether Sega wants to aknowledge it or not. There are only a few million things to say about this game, but I want to start with the most burning question of all I think:
How does it translate Sonic’s gameplay into 3D?
I’m sure that most people’s answers would be negative and go on the usual litany of how Sonic had a rocky transition into 3D yadda yadda
Look: maybe they’re right. I too have some issues with this game. But when it comes to translating Sonic’s gameplay, SPECIFICALLY Sonic’s, as in the blue guy who runs fans, that Sonic? I’d honestly say that Sonic Team did a pretty commendable job, probably the best they could’ve done back then.
To be clear: this isn’t a pure, 100% transition of all the elements from the Classic games. Some diversions are obvious: no 2 Act structure and no Special Stages. But even regarding basic gameplay, Sonic’s gameplay is actually...much less physics based than in the Classics. In the Mega Drive games momentum was key, every loop de loop, every ramp, was like a miniature obstacle designed to be overhauled by using the physics engine to your advantage, while also knowing that you could just as easily ram into an obstacle if you weren’t careful
SA1 does have physics, sure...but they’re nowhere near as relevant as in the classics. You don’t gain as much speed from rolling downhill, and simply rolling in general is kinda useless because the Spin Dash is absolutely busted to the point of almost feeling like a precursor to the boost. SA1 also marks the beginning of the series’ usage of automated sequences. Loop de loops and the like were physics obstacles in the classics, here? Just touch the dash panel, hold forward and watch the hedgehog run on his own.
Basically the gameplay is somewhat simplefied in some ways and hey: I can understand why some would take issue with this, I myself tend to prefer the physics based approach of the classics.
However, when you factor in that this is a 1999 game, from an era where 3D was still new and developers were still figuring things out...I find these semplifications to be acceptable, maybe even necessary. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a single videogame franchise that didn’t have to redefine some stuff when jumping to 3D. Mario had to switch from linear point A to point B levels to a hubworld-esque structure, which required the absence of liberally useable power ups and even Yoshi, exchanged for new movement abilities which fundamentally changed how you play Mario. Ocarina of Time had to both simplify dungeon layout, likely because achieving the level of sheer complexity of AlTTP’s dungeons wasn’t feasable in 3D. Metroid Prime (later generation, but still relevant) had to either nerf or remove half of Samus’ power ups because they simply could not work properly in a 3D environment at the time, especially due to the 1st person gameplay. Within that context I find SA1′s sacrifices to be reasonable: they simplify the formula to make way for the inherent complexities of a 3D space while still maintaining the core fundamentals
Of course another thing that’s often said is that Sonic Adventure is clunky and glitchy
And I know that many fans will likely point at the DX port, saying that it’s that thing’s fault if people make meme videos of Sonic clipping through stuff
Guys? That’s...not completely true?
Sure DX is buggi-ER, but even vanilla SA1 has its moments. Every time I play Emerald Coast I make it a point not to spin dash to the very last loop de loop because sometimes Sonic just ignores the automated section and flies off. Sometimes characters react weirdly and get a bit jittery when interacting with some level geometry (the last parts of Sky Deck are probably the best example). The Homing attack sometimes doesn’t make you bounce from an enemy or item box but rather it sends you through it which has caused me to fall into bottomless pits numerous times in the past on both the DX and Dreamcast versions. The camera stinks a bit and gets stuck a whole lot
But again: 1999. That’s not to say that every single 3D game had these issues back then...but at least from my experience they were not uncommon either, even among critically acclaimed titles
Lately I’ve been playing Half Life, the original from 1998. Great game. Janky as shit, just trying to climb ladders is an exercise in falling down bottomless pits, jump pads sometimes refuse to work properly and the last few levels feature some rather interesting physics. Mario 64′s camera is abysmal and Mario’s 360 degree turns aren’t really snappy unless you come to a complete stop before turning. Megaman Legends features a deadly combination of tank controls and no manual lock on when fighting enemies, meaning that the camera does what it wants. I’ve never played Tomb Raider but I’ve heard horror stories about its controls. Devil May Cry 1 (again, later generation but the point stands) features a camera that can make grown men weep as well as some janky underwater controls and questionable platforming to say the least. Point is: it was the wild west of 3D gaming and some levels of jank were expected. I can’t say for certain if SA1′s jank is “acceptable” even by those metrics (for example I can’t think of any big kinds of jank in Crash Bandicoot or Ocarina of Time), but at the very least from my perspective it really isn’t that much worse. Hell when it comes to just the controls they feel pretty great, with decent precision and snappy turning, they run circles around the controls for the likes of Mario 64 and Legends
I’ve always loved how Tails just casually tells Sonic to take the train to reach the Mystic Ruins
Sonic
Taking a train ride
I know why they do this, loading times and whatnot, but it’s hilarious, especially when Amy gets kidnapped and Sonic just uses the train to catch up to Zero
Anyway Emerald Coast is one of the most iconic levels in the series and I have nothing much to add. Windy Valley is certainly simple (especially when compared to the prototype), but it’s good, simple fun, it’s like the Ice Cap of this game (y’know...excluding the actual Ice Cap in this game) in that it’s simple in structure but fast and full of energy and charm

It used to be that when BMW would refit a factory to build a new car, the only way the automaker could check if the chassis would fit through the production line was to fly a team out and physically push the body through the process, making note of any snags.
Now, process engineers can simply run a simulation, sending a 3D model of the car through a near-identical digital twin of the factory. Any mistakes are spotted before the production line is built, saving time and money.
Such is the power of the industrial metaverse. Forget sending your avatar to virtual meetings with remote colleagues or poker nights with distant friends, as Mark Zuckerberg envisioned in 2021 when he changed Facebook’s name to Meta; the metaverse idea has found its killer app in manufacturing.
While the consumer version of the metaverse has stumbled, the industrial metaverse is expected to be worth $100 billion globally by 2030, according to a World Economic Forum report. In this context, the concept of the metaverse refers to a convergence of technologies including simulations, sensors, augmented reality, and 3D standards. Varvn Aryacetas, Deloitte’s AI strategy and innovation practice leader for the UK, prefers to describe it as spatial computing. “It’s about bridging the physical world with the digital world,” he says. This can include training in virtual reality, digital product design, and virtual simulations of physical spaces such as factories.
In 2022, Nvidia—the games graphics company that now powers AI with its GPUs—unveiled Omniverse, a set of tools for building simulations, running digital twins, and powering automation. It acts as a platform for the industrial metaverse. “This is a general technology—it can be used for all kinds of things,” says Rev Lebaredian, vice president of Omniverse and simulation technology at Nvidia. “I mean, representing the real world inside a computer simulation is just very useful for a lot of things—but it’s absolutely essential for building any system that has autonomy in it.”
Home improvement chain Lowe’s uses the platform to test new layouts in digital twins before building them in its physical stores. Zaha Hadid Architects creates virtual models of its projects for remote collaboration. Amazon simulates warehouses to train virtual robots before letting real ones join the floor. And BMW has built virtual models for all its sites, including its newest factory in Debrecen, Hungary, which was planned and tested virtually before construction.
To simulate its entire manufacturing process, BMW filled its virtual factories with 3D models of its cars, equipment, and even people. It created these elements in an open-source file format originated by Pixar called Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD), with Omniverse providing the technical foundation for the virtual models and BMW creating its own software layers on top, explains Matthias Mayr, virtual factory specialist at BMW.
“If you imagine a factory that would take half an hour to walk from one side to the other side, you can imagine it’s also quite a large model,” Mayr says. Hence turning to a gaming company for the technology—they know how to render scenes you can run through. Early versions of the virtual factory even had gaming-style WASD keyboard navigation, but this was dropped in favor of a click-based interface akin to exploring Google Street View in a browser, so anyone could easily find their way.
BMW also uses Omniverse for collaboration on car design and customization visualizations for customers, but a key benefit is being able to model production lines. New cars mean a new assembly process, but refitting a factory is a daunting process. Previously, key information was held in silos—production crews understood details of the assembly process, external suppliers had specs of new parts or machinery, architects had detailed building plans—and costs would pile up for every delay or mistake. “The later you find a problem, the worse it is,” says Lebaredian.
Now, problems are worked out virtually, with a central location for standardized data to be held. There’s still a critical human element: Mapping a facility requires sending a laser scanner strapped to a person running through a factory to capture point cloud data about how everything is arranged. Design engineers also need to create a 3D model of every stage of a car as it’s assembled. This level of detail allows BMW to virtually test the assembly process, complete with simulations of robotics, machines, and even human workers, as BMW has data tracking how long it takes employees to assemble a part.
The main idea is to avoid errors—does that machine even fit there?—but the system also enables optimization, such as moving a rack of components closer to a particular station to save steps for human assemblers. “You can optimize first and gain a lot of efficiency in the first production, and in the construction phase, you have fewer mistakes,” Mayr says. “It’s less error prone.”
Omniverse being a Nvidia platform, AI is naturally next. BMW is already layering in generative AI to help with navigation of its virtual models—they’re so massive that finding a particular point in the digital factory can still require asking a human expert for directions. But the aim is to use AI to optimize production lines too. “Because you have the whole data available, not just for one plant, it will be able to make good suggestions,” says Mayr—lessons learned in one factory could more easily be applied to others.
And then there’s robotics and other autonomous systems. Here, Omniverse can offer a digital space for testing before deploying in the real world, but it can also generate synthetic training data by running simulations, just as driverless car systems are trained with virtual video footage generated by AI. “Real-world experience isn’t going to come mostly from the real world—it comes from simulation,” says Lebaredian.
Aryacetas predicts that the biggest impact from the industrial metaverse will be embodied or physical AI—in other words, robots. “Robots aren’t fully there yet, but they’re rapidly training up to understand the physical world around them—and that’s being done because of these underlying spatial computing technologies,” he says.
The future of the metaverse isn’t avatars in a virtual world; it’s digital twins teaching industrial robots how to step out into the physical one.

Source of info: https://www.regalokitchens.com/blog/inspiring-modular-kitchen-design-for-every-budget

Introduction
Inspiring modular kitchen design concepts can be adjusted to any budget, providing accessibility and charm without affecting quality. Whether you have a small room or like luxurious finishing, there are many choices for design available to match your needs. From low-cost materials to premium facilities, flexible kitchens provide effective layouts, creative storage solutions, and attractiveness. Regardless of your budget, you can easily build a kitchen that's a perfect melding of function and beauty with the right design decisions.
Affordable Modular Kitchen Design
The most ideal option for an affordable and stylish kitchen is a budget-friendly modular kitchen design. Here are some budget-friendly ideas to consider:
1. Smart Material Selection
Choosing affordable but lasting materials is a necessity for an affordable modular kitchen design. Instead of buying pricey hardwood cabinets, choose laminated MDF or particle board. These materials provide a stylish finish while remaining cost-effective.
2. Efficient Storage Solutions
Maximizing storage with well-planned cabinets, pull-out drawers, and wall-hung shelves reduces mess while increasing usefulness. Regalo Kitchens offers creative storage solutions that make even small kitchens appear roomy and organized.
3. Simple Yet Elegant Designs
Rather than complicated carvings or high-end finishes, go for basic patterns in basic colors. A simple color scheme or soft pastels will help your kitchen look bigger and more inviting.
4. Affordable Countertop Options
Instead of granite or quartz, choose laminate or ceramic tiles for your countertop. These materials are simple to maintain, fashionable, and far more affordable in cost while remaining durable.
Mid-Range Modular Kitchen Design
If you have a reasonable budget, you can find a balance between both design and function. Here's how to upgrade your kitchen on a mid-range budget:
1. Upgraded Materials
Choose wooden cabinets with laminate or acrylic finish. These provide a nice look at a reasonable price. Regalo Kitchens offers high-quality modular kitchen design with a variety of finishes to bring luxury to your home.
2. Improved Storage & Accessibility
A well-designed arrangement that includes corner units, rotating pull-outs, and soft-close drawers improves performance. Vertical storage and under-sink organizers help to maximize kitchen space.
3. Enhanced Lighting Features
Adding LED strip lights underneath cabinets and pendant lighting above counters provides a warm and inviting environment. Good lighting improves both usefulness and style, making your kitchen more inviting.
4. Stylish Backsplash & Countertops
Select quartz, solid surface, or high-quality granite countertops. These materials are long-lasting, artistically beautiful, and easy to care for. A patterned tile wall can add style to the kitchen's overall appearance.
Luxury Modular Kitchen Design
There are plenty of options for individuals looking to invest in a high-end modular kitchen design. Regalo Kitchens specializes in creating beautiful, advanced kitchen spaces which combine beauty with modern technology.
1. Premium Materials & Finishes
Choose the oak cabinets, high-gloss acrylic finishes, or glass shutters to give a touch of style. These materials improve the overall look while maintaining durability.
2. Smart & High-Tech Features
Upgrade to a smart modular kitchen design that includes motion-sensor lighting, voice-controlled appliances, and automated drawers. Pull-down racks and built-in spice organizers are examples of advanced storage solutions that improve comfort.
3. Sophisticated Lighting & Fixtures
Impressive pendant lights, under-cabinet LED strips, and ambient ceiling lighting help create a premium environment. Stylish, high-quality taps and deep sinks give the kitchen's luxurious appearance.
4. High-End Countertops & Flooring
Make an investment in marble, quartz, or artificial stone countertops. Italian tiles or hardwood floors provide a classy touch to your modular kitchen design, making it a genuine showpiece.

Almost every gardener I know wishes for a greenhouse. Maybe you dream of moving your seed-starting operation out of your spare bedroom and into an outdoor space. Or you may want to experiment with growing citrus trees that are too big for your cozy yet tiny home. I get it—whether you’re a beginner or veteran grower, a greenhouse is an exciting addition to your garden! However, it also presents new challenges and a sometimes steep learning curve. If you want to grow healthy plants in your greenhouse this year, you must know how to manage this space properly. I’ll cover a few essential tips involving maintaining the proper environment, selecting the right plants, and making the most of this unique growing space. What Is a Greenhouse? They are permanent structures with a metal frame and glass or rigid plastic panels. If you’re part of the gardening world, you’ve probably heard people throw around terms like greenhouse, hoop house, high tunnel, and cold frame to refer to protected growing spaces. Since people use these terms so loosely, it can be challenging to determine if they all mean the same thing or if each one has a distinctive definition. While I’m not here to manage how you use these terms, knowing the exact definitions of each structure can be helpful. A greenhouse is typically a permanent or semi-permanent structure designed to stay in the same place for years. It’s often constructed of a metal frame and glass or rigid plastic panels, and the structure is often set on a solid foundation. Although it’s not a requirement, many greenhouses contain heating and/or automated ventilation systems. High tunnels and hoop houses are semi-permanent structures that are easy to move. They consist of large metal hoops covered with a UV-resistant plastic layer. Although some high tunnels have heating and ventilation systems, most do not. To manage temperature and ventilation, you can raise and lower the plastic sides of the tunnel. Cold frames are small, season-extension structures that can take many shapes and forms. They typically cover a single garden bed and require manual ventilation to control temperature and moisture. Although some of the following beginner tips apply to all of these structures, I’ve written them with greenhouses in mind. Establish Your Desired Use If you plan to use your greenhouse solely for seed starting, an eight-foot by eight-foot structure will work just fine. Before buying and growing in a greenhouse, consider how you will use it. Do you envision it as a seed-starting space, a place to overwinter your cold-sensitive lemon trees, or a spot where you can grow tomatoes early in the season? As long as you set up the space appropriately, it’s okay to use your greenhouse for multiple purposes. Determining how you will use your greenhouse will help you select the proper structure and build it appropriately. For example, if you plan to use it solely for seed starting, an eight-foot by eight-foot structure will work just fine. Since you won’t be growing any larger plants, you’ll have space to build a potting bench, tables for seedlings, and shelves for storing pots and soil mix. Since you’ll regularly water seedling trays, consider covering dirt floors with gravel or landscape fabric to avoid soil splash and weed growth. However, if you mainly want to use the space to overwinter cold-sensitive plants like citrus, ginger, and figs, you’ll probably want a different layout. You’ll need open areas where tall plants can expand and an opening that allows you to move them in and out of the greenhouse easily. And if you want to grow plants in the ground, you’ll want an entirely different setup! Rather than building a concrete or gravel floor, you’ll want to develop rich soil or build raised beds. You’ll also want to consider irrigation systems and ensure pathways are large enough to accommodate harvest baskets or bins. The moral of the story? Think about how you plan to use your greenhouse before filling it with plants so you can avoid common beginner mistakes. Designing a proper layout and systems ahead of time can save you countless headaches down the road. Pay Attention to Moisture The easiest way to control humidity is to use vents and fans. Since greenhouses are closed structures, humidity is a major concern. While it’s possible for the humidity to get too low in a greenhouse, growers usually face the opposite problem. Irrigation and plant transpiration can lead to moisture buildup in closed greenhouses. This high humidity means plants are more likely to develop fungal diseases like powdery mildew, downy mildew, and gray mold. Therefore, your goal is to keep the humidity at moderate to low levels. The easiest way to control humidity is to use vents and fans. They push out humid air and draw in dry air. Some greenhouses utilize sensors and automated systems to open vents and turn on fans when the greenhouse reaches a specific humidity level. However, you can manually open vents and turn on fans to decrease air moisture. Another option is adding a dehumidifier to your greenhouse. However, this won’t add a beneficial increase in airflow like fans and vents. If your greenhouse consistently has consistently high humidity, consider your irrigation practices. Watering your plants more than necessary will increase the air moisture levels. Plus, constantly moist soil will increase the likelihood of pests like fungus gnats. Regularly Scout for Pests Most pests experience increased reproduction rates in warm conditions. Since greenhouses are closed structures removed from the outside world, greenhouse-grown plants often face different pest pressures than their outdoor-grown counterparts. There are a few main reasons for these differences. Absence of natural predators: Since greenhouses are mostly closed off from the outside world, natural predators like ladybugs, green lacewings, and hoverflies have difficulty entering. Therefore, the pests they feed on can quickly multiply. You can purchase and release natural predators, but be aware the predators will die or fly off when they run out of their food source. Favorable environment: Most pests experience increased reproduction rates in warm conditions. That means a few pests can quickly evolve into an outbreak. So, even if aphids or mealybugs aren’t a big deal in your cold garden in the late fall or winter, they can cause serious harm in the warm greenhouse. Closed from outdoors: Since your greenhouse is closed to the outdoors, the pests rarely escape. Instead, they continue to reproduce and feed on your greenhouse plants. One way to prevent pest damage is to regularly scout your greenhouse for unwelcome critters. Set aside 15 minutes each week to thoroughly inspect your plants. Turn over leaves and check the base of the plants near the soil. Note any insects and their numbers. If you’re not sure what the insects are, spend time figuring it out! Remember, not all insects are bad for your plants. Start by browsing through this list of common pests and common beneficial insects. Once you determine you’re dealing with a pest, you can take appropriate control measures. Removing the pests may be as simple as wiping the pests of your plants. Use a soapy rag and continuing to monitor their numbers. Avoid Sudden Swings in Temperature A combination of heaters, vents, and fans can help you maintain a relatively steady temperature. One major benefit of growing indoors is the ability to control and regulate temperature. With the help of a heater or a sunny day, the air inside your greenhouse can be 70°F (21°C), even if it’s below freezing outside. And if you’re not careful, the same greenhouse can reach over 100°F (38°C)! While you may be tempted to allow hot days to offset cold nights, you should avoid sudden temperature changes. It’s okay if the temperature is warmer during the day and cooler at night, but you shouldn’t see a swing of 50 degrees (10°C). A better option is maintaining a relatively steady temperature throughout the day and night. A combination of heaters, vents, and fans can help you accomplish this. Once the temperature reaches above 70 or 80°F (21-27°C) during the day, open vents and turn on fans to decrease the temperature. You can also use heaters during the night and program them to turn on when the temperature hits 50°F (10°C) or 40°F (4°C). When setting the temperature, remember that each plant has an ideal temperature range. Brassica and lettuce seedlings don’t mind temperatures near freezing, but many tropical plants experience stress when the temperature dips below 50°F (10°C). Select Proper Varieties Cucumbers are well-suited for greenhouses because they produce fruit without pollination. If you’re growing in the ground in your greenhouse, pay attention to the varieties you select. This applies whether you’re growing tomatoes in the spring, lettuce in the winter, or citrus year-round. Since growers often plant vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers in protected culture, plant breeders have created varieties that thrive in these growing conditions. For example, there are cucumber varieties well-suited for greenhouses because they produce fruit without pollination. Since greenhouse tomato plants remain dry but are often grown in high humidity, resistance to leaf mold and gray mold is more important than resistance to early blight. If you plan to grow greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach throughout the winter, you should also look for well-suited varieties. While you can try growing any variety in your protected structure, cultivars resistant to common greenhouse diseases, such as downy mildew, are more likely to perform well. Avoid Wet Leaves Water potted plants near the base of the plant to avoid wet foliage and soil splash. Since wet leaves can lead to fungal diseases, it’s best to keep plant foliage dry. This is especially important in a greenhouse since airflow is often limited, and disease can spread quickly in the confined space. Water potted plants near the base of the plant to avoid wet foliage and soil splash.A watering can, hose, or drip irrigation system can all provide proper irrigation. You can also choose to bottom water potted plants and trays filled with seedlings. If you’re growing plants in the grow, opt for drip irrigation instead of overhead watering. Drip emitters apply water directly to the soil and keep foliage dry. If you choose to water seedlings with a hose, ensure you provide excellent airflow to dry the foliage and prevent disease. I recommend running fans near your seedlings, especially if you utilize overhead irrigation. Keep a Journal You can use the information in your journal to fine-tune your practices and continually improve your garden. Although beginners think they’ll never forget that intense aphid outbreak or that impressive tomato harvest, it’s easy to forget greenhouse milestones, let alone minuscule details. That’s why I recommend using a journal to keep track of planting dates, temperatures, pest problems, and more. If you notice some of your plants show signs of disease or cold-damaged, you can look back on your notes to try to determine a cause. For example, you may realize you brought disease into your greenhouse when you moved outdoor plants inside. You can also look back on your journal year after year to remember planting dates, first harvest dates, and when seedlings were large enough to transplant outdoors. Then, you can use this information to fine-tune your greenhouse practices and advance from a beginner to an expert indoor grower. Source link

Transforming Your Washroom: Step-by-Step Guide
Embarking on a washroom renovation journey can be both exhilarating and daunting. With Avivakeeon Interio's expertise, transforming your washroom into a personal sanctuary is within reach. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the essentials, ensuring a comprehensive makeover that seamlessly blends function with style.
Initial Assessment and Planning
The linchpin of any successful renovation project is a thorough assessment and meticulous planning. Begin by critically analyzing the existing space: Is it maximized for functionality, or does it fall short in addressing your needs? Consider factors such as the size of the washroom, the current layout, and any specific issues that need attention.
Once you have a clear picture of the space, set objectives for the transformation. Do you wish to enhance the aesthetic appeal, improve storage, or upgrade fixtures for better efficiency? Consulting with professional interior designers from Avivakeeon Interio can provide valuable insights and ensure that your vision is achievable within your budget. Create a detailed timeline and budget, accounting for all potential expenses to avoid unexpected costs down the line.
Choosing the Right Color Palette and Fixtures
The choice of color palette and fixtures can significantly influence the ambiance of your washroom. A well-chosen color scheme can make a small bathroom appear larger and more inviting. Neutral tones such as whites, beiges, and light grays provide a clean and timeless backdrop, whereas bolder colors can be used to infuse character and warmth.
Select fixtures that complement your chosen palette and match the overall design theme. Modern minimalist designs often feature sleek, angular fixtures in silver or matte black, while a more traditional setting might favor vintage-style faucets and clawfoot tubs. When choosing materials, prioritize durability and ease of maintenance. Opt for high-quality finishes that resist rust and wear, ensuring longevity.
At Avivakeeon Interio, state-of-the-art technology and design aesthetics converge, providing customized fixture solutions that cater to your preference whether you lean towards contemporary or classic styles.
Incorporating Storage Solutions and Accessories
An organized washroom exudes a sense of calm and order, making efficient storage solutions imperative. Consider built-in shelving, vanity units with integrated storage, or wall-mounted cabinets to maximize available space without compromising on style.
- Vanity Units: Opt for vanities with deep drawers and compartments to house toiletries and towels neatly.
- Open Shelving: Ideal for displaying decorative items or storing frequently used items for quick access.
- Over-the-Toilet Storage: Utilize vertical space with slender cabinetry above the toilet.
Accessories can further enhance the functionality and aesthetic of your washroom. Incorporate elements like stylish towel bars, decorative mirrors, and artful lighting to personalize the space. Select these accessories to blend with your design theme for a cohesive look.
With Avivakeeon Interio's comprehensive approach to washroom design, integrating innovative storage options and accessories becomes a streamlined process, culminating in a space that is both beautiful and practical. Transform your washroom into an oasis with Avivakeeon Interio's expertise, creating an inviting retreat that mirrors your personal style.

Hey, what do you use notion for can I ask? I'm new to it, was looking into using it as a potential project management tool (I work freelance!) do you find it pretty easy to use?
hiii, of course you can ask! :) i talk a lot though, so sorry!!!
I like to use it for so many things!! Journaling, project management, writing / planning out ocs, creating databases, keeping track of things (tasks, media, wishlist, games and other game-related stuff, references and resources), etc. etc.
it has options for pages and subpages {and subpages within those subpages}, templates, calendars, tables, automation, buttons, files, graphs, tagging systems, among so many others. my favorite thing is that you can add relations between pages and have it link to each other. that, and how you can essentially build your own private home page. :)
it's definitely worth checking out if you need a project management tool because its so useful and there's just so much you can do within it. i think the only problem is that it can be very confusing and overwhelming at first, because it's so customizable. that can make it a bit hard to get into, but once you get the hang of it, it's super fun. which can also be a problem if you're like me and end up spending more time customizing than actually working LOL.
personally, i find it easy to use, but i do have to warm up to it if i go a while without using it because i start to forget things. there's just so many things to it... if i had to rate the difficulty, id say its around medium difficulty? its definitely just lots of practice, but also, you dont have to go overboard with the features and customization. you can keep it easy and simple and that will work just fine too. then as you use it and understand it better, build onto it. i'd say check it out first and give it a try and see how it goes because it all depends on what exactly you're trying to do with it. :)
overall, the hardest part about it is just figuring out the layout of your pages by yourself, because clicking that 'new' button and being hit by a big blank page and all these options can be so overwhelming at first (esp if you have adhd like me lol). but the other stuff like features and tools are pretty straightforward.
if you do want to give it a try, the best way to get started is by using templates as a base, and then customizing them to suit your needs! that's what i do for now.
here are some videos i recommend checking out to get started with it:
1 || 2
additionally, here's a notion guide you can check out.
also, notion already comes with a built-in template database you can go through, but there are a LOT of good [free] templates available out there. i usually find mine by just googling what i need or through reddit, youtube, and sometimes pinterest or etsy. :)
Here are some templates you can check out to get started:
1 || 2 || 3 || 4
sorry this is long, but i hope it helped and that it's coherent bc my brain is all over the place <3 if you have any other questions feel free to ask!! id be happy to help however i can ^_^
#replies#Anonymous#oh another thing to note is that they keep pushing the ai stuff like a lot of companies have been#but ive read that you can email support to opt out of it#and they'll remove the features if you desire.

AV Installation Secrets Revealed: Expert Insights and Advice
Whether you're setting up a home theater, upgrading a conference room, or creating an immersive stage experience, AV installations are essential in transforming ordinary spaces into dynamic, impactful environments. In today's tech-driven world, AV Installation Services have become a staple for events, corporate gatherings, and personal spaces alike. However, creating a seamless audio-visual experience involves more than just wiring up speakers and mounting screens. Here, we’ll share expert insights into AV installation secrets that elevate quality, enhance ambiance, and guarantee a hassle-free experience.
1. Planning the Right Setup for Your Space
A successful AV installation starts with a clear understanding of your specific needs and goals. No two spaces are alike, so the initial planning phase should involve evaluating the room layout, dimensions, and acoustics. This is where a professional AV Installation Service can make all the difference by creating a custom setup that maximizes audio and visual quality. Experts can help design an installation plan that works within your budget while enhancing every aspect of the viewing and listening experience.
2. Investing in High-Quality Equipment
The equipment you select is the foundation of any AV installation. From high-resolution projectors and screens to powerful, crisp sound systems, investing in quality components ensures a longer lifespan and better performance. Professional AV Installation Services have access to the latest in AV technology, helping you choose the right gear for your setup. High-definition displays, multi-channel audio systems, and smart control systems are all important elements that bring your vision to life.
3. Understanding Acoustic Treatments and Speaker Placement
Optimal sound distribution is crucial for an immersive experience. AV installation experts know that sound quality is influenced by room acoustics, materials, and furniture. They employ techniques like acoustic panels, bass traps, and strategic speaker placement to eliminate echo and balance sound. With the help of an AV Installation Service, you can avoid common issues like uneven sound and muffled audio, ensuring clear, high-quality sound throughout the room.
4. Hiding the Cables and Wiring
One of the biggest challenges in AV installation is concealing the maze of cables and wires. A messy installation can detract from the space's aesthetics and even cause safety hazards. An expert AV Installation Service will know how to manage and conceal wires effectively, either by routing them through walls, floors, or custom cabinetry. They’ll also label everything clearly, making it easier to troubleshoot or upgrade your system later on.
5. Automating the AV Experience
A well-designed AV system should also offer ease of use. Automated systems allow you to control lighting, sound, and visuals at the touch of a button, creating a seamless experience. Leading AV Installation Services can integrate smart controls like voice activation, mobile app interfaces, and remote controls, allowing you to customize the atmosphere with minimal effort. Imagine dimming the lights, adjusting the sound, or switching screens from your phone, adding that wow factor to any event or space.
6. Testing and Calibration for Optimal Performance
Once the setup is complete, professional AV installers will conduct thorough testing and calibration. This step ensures that all components work together harmoniously, providing an optimized performance for both audio and video. AV Installation Services use specialized equipment to test sound quality, brightness, and display alignment, making any necessary adjustments for the perfect final setup.
7. Ongoing Support and Maintenance
AV systems are complex and, over time, may require software updates, recalibration, or even repairs. The right AV Installation Service provides ongoing support, ensuring that your system remains in top condition. Regular maintenance not only extends the equipment’s lifespan but also keeps your AV experience flawless, even as your needs evolve or technology advances.
8. Expert Advice for DIY AV Enthusiasts
For those looking to try AV installation on their own, there are a few essential tips to keep in mind. First, start small, with easy-to-manage components like a soundbar and projector. Researching the best products and ensuring compatibility among devices is key. Also, remember to position speakers at ear level and place screens to minimize glare. However, for larger spaces and complex requirements, it’s always best to consult a professional AV Installation Service for expert guidance and support.
