I used to have a really hard time bringing up the fact that I graduated from high school a year late without feeling the need to explain why and insisting that it wasn't my fault while simultaneously kicking myself for how much I sounded like I was just making excuses for something I should take responsibility for.

Then I watched Dimension 20's "The Seven" and suddenly I could simply say that I was a super senior.

The first time I heard the phrase "super senior" was in reference to Antiope Jones, a Black girl who had been held back a year after getting kidnapped and imprisoned by members of a fundamentalist cult, and like, girl, same.

So, since then, instead of anxiously spinning out any time I tried to tell a personal high school anecdote, I could just say I was a super senior, and then my brain would auto complete that statement with "like Antiope Jones" and I'd feel good about myself because Antiope Jones Is That Bitch.

That's what the problem had been the whole time. I wasn't worried about how other people would perceive me; I had been struggling with how I perceived myself.

Everyone is probably going feral on your... other blog, I came over here to ask, Does Robbie have any hobbies he enjoys? Like I know he does a lot, but is there any activity he will do just because he enjoys doing it?

What is there out there that he doesn’t love doin? He’s a mischievous lil guy who does all he can to get a crumb of attention smhh. There isn’t really anything specific he does, since his hobbies range VASTLY (a lot of them are crimes) but some of his favorites is eating packaged snacks (preferred with friends but usually alone), causing disturbances of the peace, and doin a lil dance whenever he’s very happy smhh @thelone-copper

How different of a person would Ashlyn be if she had a sibling?

Would she have an older, more sociable sister who she bickered with constantly and was constantly dragged around by because her sister hoped she'd make at least one friend?

An older brother who followed in his parents' footsteps and joined the military, coming back every once in a while to show her cool things he learnt how to do?

A younger sister who tried to be just like her and learn ballet because it looked cool only to find it kinda boring and was much more interested in learning kickboxing or any of the self-defence their parents tried to teach Ashlyn?

A younger brother who was super invested in anything insect-related and liked to ramble about all the stuff he learnt to her or anyone that would listen?

How would she change as a character with an older sibling or a younger sibling?

What are you referring to by worldview by the way sorry

no problem, happy to clarify! i guess all i mean by "worldview" here is like, the idea that if someone is ideologically consistent, that they're going to have a worldview that they apply consistently to how they interpret all situations that they encounter.

for example, if someone sees daniil's "default" ending choice in classic, or his "damn this whole town all to hell" worldview that he can espouse towards the endgame, and says that this a reflection of his default state, or that it's who he "truly" is. ignoring (or at least disregarding) the fact that he starts the game fairly committed to trying to help the town (considering the fact that he's essentially forced into it) and puts great effort into keeping the townspeople from getting sick by enacting quarantine measures and trying to create a vaccine. and also disregarding all of the external factors that lead him to be so worn down and full of spite by the end of the game.

but, the idea that someone's "true" character is what shines through during the hardest times of their life is a worldview that some people have! sort of like how people like to say that "being drunk reveals your true self". or you could say it's a sort of corollary to the idea that "human nature is inherently bad deep down", or that disasters bring out the worst in people. i feel like that perspective has grown increasingly popular since COVID, honestly. but it's also a historically popular perspective: i'd argue that it's a question that pathologic explores, since mob mentality and witch hunts are portrayed as the human reaction to disaster breaking out. lord of the flies is another, more famous fictional example that puts forward the argument that humanity is inherently petty and violent under pressure. (but lord of the flies was also famously debunked, when a bunch of teenage boys got stranded on an island in real life they actually ended up cooperating instead of turning on each other).

the thing is, i disagree with the whole "judging people based on their worst moments" thing, and think that how people act when they're most supported and empowered to succeed is more indicative of their true nature than how they act in their worst moments. like, i have more sympathy for people who commit crimes out of financial desperation, than i would for a rich person who speeds and drives recklessly because he knows he can afford the fine, or whatever. that's my worldview.

So I mentioned that we decided to do the radioactive iodine treatment for Little Kitty’s hyperthyroidism, and today is the day. We dropped him off a little over an hour ago, and we can’t pick him up until Friday 😢 I already miss him so much. I don’t know how I am going to function without him 😩
