The Candy epilogue had so much angst for these two, and I really think that is peak!  I really like this scene; it's the point of view of John when he was looking for Karkat and Dave after they just went out of the church.

If the Epilogues/HS2 teams wanted to canonize Jade's dog dick because she was fused with Bec, they should've canonized every other sprite-fusion consequence just so they can see how ridiculous the idea was. If we took the sprite = biology throughline like the epilogues did, this is what we'd end up with:

Jade is so heavily radioactive that she poisoned every mortal she ever got nasty with.

Aradia is part frog, can get pregnant, and lays frogspawn.

Davesprite has a cloaca and lays eggs.

Davepetasprite^2 has troll-human junk. Still lays eggs.

Nannasprite has a Suspicious Plushie Pouch.

Jasprosesprite^2 has whatever deal cats and horrorterrors have. So does GCATavrosprite, minus the horrorterror.

This is why we have to be careful which extracurriculars a sprite inherits from its components. Now because of Jade inheriting a dog dick, suddenly everyone has cursed animal junk and has body functions associated with said cursed animal junk.

im fucking crazy about this topic rn: why the fuck ultimate dirk strider is so mad at jake english?

tw: ugh disturbing contents of epilogues

maybe all that i want to say about it is a common sense in fandom but im new (i read homestuck fully in march, epilogues after that) so please dont be hard on me

context. i read the epilogues like this: first meat, then candy (it was even more torturous than meat honestly, so i think i missed something, especially at the end...) so information i learned from candy may not immediately be incorporated into what i learned earlier (my brain is a smoothie)

and i cant keep up with hs2 beyond canon, its just... hard. but i started it. it messes up with epilogues info from the very first pages in my opinion. so i'll stuck with epilogues for now for this post anyway

so, um. what was i going to say? where should i start?

well i reread meat chapter 34 recently (bc im a masochist) and i got it finally

its

fucking HOPE aura

its crucial! its so fucking crucial for their relationship in epilogues.

so dirk (ult!dirk?):

1. hates alcohol and substances in general for a several reasons

2. hates to be not in control (this is one of the reasons too, ofc)

and jake's hope aura is all that!!! so dirk says this in chapter 34, meat:

and when i read it for the first time, i didnt understand what he was talking about and decided that he was just dramatizing, bc the whole chapter is literally one big mockery of jake

but after candy, when jake's aura was shown in action, it became clear that dirk was talking about it (maybe it works a bit of different when jake believes in different things, but in general):

it makes sense that jake can create an aura of optimism that works like youre intoxicated, bc thats how he copes in meat (and candy, too) himself, being an alcohol addict

and its very disturbing for me, yes, even more disturbing than before!!! bc it implies dirk did something he didn't like and didn't want in this state, sexually, most likely? and he def cant forgive jake for that

and this, too:

for first read i thought this is some kind of sick victim blaming shit but now i think its more bc its just so personal all the sudden? and it makes me sick and heartbroken
