How are you gonna brag about your music taste and then not share it?
You know what, fair enough! Let's fix that real quick:
First, a Canadian Celtic band called the Cottars. Unfortunately, their first two albums aren't available on Spotify, and their second cd, On Fire, is my favorite. That said, if you poke around on Youtube, you can find some of their early stuff. Here's their version of Sùilean Dubh,
And then a fun rendition of Home by Bearna, an upbeat song about trying to get your drunk friend home without causing a ruckus.
Next on the list: Borodin! He's a Russian classical composer, and I highly recommend In the Steppes of Central Asia, which is not only a symphony but also a symphonic poem. Here's a piece of it; I also recommend this particular recording, which you can easily find on Spotify:
Then, if you feel like listening to steampunk space pirates mixing folk music and mythology, give a listen to the Mechanisms. The band's premise was that the musicians were more or less immortal and traveled the universe, and their albums tell overarching stories about in worlds based on elements such as fairy tales, greek myths, and nursery rhymes. Fair warning: the stories pretty much always have a grim ending, but it's worth the ride. Also, this is one of those bands were you should listen to each album as a whole. Might I recommend either starting with either "Ulysses Dies at the End" or "The Bifrost Incident." Unfortunately, I can't share my favorite song of theirs, as it contains massive spoilers! But you can find them on either Spotify or Youtube easily.
I could keep going, but let's end with a band I keep pushing: I Don't Know How But They Found Me, or IDKHow. Dallon Weekes is a gem, y'all, and he deserves to be better known. His music is sarcastic and very biting towards fame and the industries involved in them, but then you get moments of gorgeous sincerity. And the music's just fantastic as well. Honestly, IDKHow doesn't have a bad song, but I'll post the song that made me fall in love with them:
And how about New Inventions for good measure.

Okay, so hear me out, here.
Ideas for the new/relocated Utah hockey team that was the Coyotes:
They're reborn from the ashes of a failed/dead, franchise? What else is famously reborn from its own ashes?
Hence: the Utah Phoenixes
Eh? Eh?
Okay, fine, that probably won't do.
*****
Okay, so how about looking to the state reptile for inspiration? The noble Gila Monster.
Probably shorten to just the Utah Monsters for better cadence
[This joke being that one of the Coyote's former arenas was "Gila River" arena. That one was probably a little less obvious than "Phoenixes"]
*****
Okay, so, I see the problem is that we keep stumbling into invoking the specters of the past [Specters/Spirits/Phantoms - Not the worst ideas I've heard, btw].
Let's maybe focus on the iconic desert landscapes, invoking the common heritage there.
The Utah Buttes / Utah Beauts
Look, I know that I'm doing a lot of joking around here, but I'm honestly legitimately proud of that play on words.
And "Beaut!"/"Beauty!" feels like such a classic hockey term, y'know?
Sadly, probably would be too much hesitation for big, manly NHLers to be officially a "Beaut".
That being said, if a professional Womens'-League team ever expands to SLC - There you go, that's a solid name for your team right there.
I kind of like the cadence of it all, still - How about Utah Brutes? Does that feel more workable?
How about Utah Beasts - Especially if ever partnered with aforementioned "Beauts" female team - ("Beauts" and "Beasts", eh? Eh?!)
*****
Okay, last one that actually just came to me in the shower, and I'm actually a little bit more serious about this:
Looking for iconic, usually animals, of the region the team is in, that aren't already taken by other team names.
"Home on the Range" could help here: Pronghorns/Antelopes are an iconic species of the prairies/desert - Lethbridge's university teams use that name, though. But that's less an obstacle to say Buffalo/Bison (which do have a presence there) - Because the Sabres use them in their iconography.
"Deer" might be a bit too generic [not to mention the Bucks have that brand, basically] - Elk is the State mammal, but Edmonton's CFL team already has that claim.
So… other iconic desert animals, not already used in team names/logos?
How about hares/jackrabbits?
Probably not the type of animal iconography you wish to necessarily evoke, though.
Positives include speed, supposed cleverness. "Madness" might be a thing to jokingly play up?
But they fundamentally are still a relatively small prey animal.
But (And I swear, I am going somewhere with this),
With the Seattle Kraken, we've leaned into cryptids being a valid name [ETA: . Heck one of the potential names the ownership group seems to be actively considering is "Yeti".
So, what if we combined the pronghorn and hare ideas, yeah?
But (And I swear, I am going somewhere with this),
With the Seattle Kraken, we've leaned into cryptids being a valid name. [See Also: The Jersey Devil - Which is what New Jersey's name is inspired by. Not, y'know, the ruler of hell, despite their branding all leaning into the "cartoon red devil"-style.]
Heck one of the potential names the ownership group seems to be actively considering is "Yeti".
So, what if we combined the pronghorn and hare ideas, yeah?
You see where I'm going with this, right?
The Utah Jackalopes
Or possibly Utah Jacks for better cadence and all their branding is jackalope-related.
I'm actually not-entirely joking on this one. I think you could actually lean into something really fun with this one.

what kind of music do you think the ultrakill guys like? the v1 music post still got me Thinking
god i love talking music headcanons for these characters bc i honestly think they are all very musically based in some capacity!!
for gabriel, it's obvious being an angel - like i mentioned before, i like to think that gabriel speaks only in the holy tongue, and it sounds incredibly musical when spoken even if it's not necessarily singing. outside of that, he does regularly sing, to himself, to others, for praise, for comfort, almost anything really because that's more his natural state than talking. for what kind of music he likes though, i think initially it's VERY predictable, in that he enjoys orchestral or choir pieces...but that's not entirely true to his preferences. he likes intricate pieces and he likes the moody and metaphorical...alternatively, shit that goes hard musically and emotionally. he wants music that elicits a visceral response, something that connects to him and that he feels himself in because music is something so central to him that he wants it important!! this includes both lyrical and instrumental pieces, as he can relate to and be moved just as much by either.
v1 is also deeply into music, but it relates to it in a very different manner - similar to gabriel, it often sings to itself although it's much more erratic in its choices and it really enjoys composing its own pieces. like a lot of people, i love the idea that v1 is the in-universe composer for the music we hear and so it's definitely into pieces that a brutal, sharp, and fast-paced but...i also genuinely just really like the idea that it creates a LOT of different electronic-based songs or even soundscapes. it mashes up things it's heard before, it remixes all sorts of songs (both its own and ones it saves), and creates in several different genres. so v1 actually doesn't have much a preference for what style of music it listens to, but it tends to gravitate toward synthesized sounds and sampling. also obligatory gabv1el posting BUT v1 likes making up music while gabriel makes up lyrics for it/accompanies it on the organ. it's cute!!!!
v2 is like v1 in that it likes a wide range of styles, but it's not so all over the place with more consistency in its library - it tends to be drawn toward things that are pleasing to humans (v1 can be rather cacophonous with its compositions at times, and they sound awful to v2 lol) and most of all i actually think it enjoys classical music or soundtracks. lyrics are fine and everything, but v2 doesn't relate to those emotions the way humans do and doesn't experience those things necessarily, so it prefers to make its own narratives to instrumental pieces. like it can listen to and enjoy songs with lyrics well enough, but its preference lies in the instruments themselves, to pieces it can more easily apply its own interpretations to. besides, words can sometimes feel distracting to it when it already has so much going on in its own mind, so it also enjoys a little bit of breathing room that way.
