I'll set up the premise as much I can without spoilers, but this is sorta an AU where there are hope's peak schools on every continent, and this takes place in the north american one. they are the 75th class, and it takes place in an au where the canon killing games haven't/wont happen.

outta curiosity is Makoto also a remnant in the THH remnants AU so all of class 78 are remnants, the izuru of the group like Hajime and rantaro in the RemV3 AU, or is he getting the Chiaki treatment (like in most aus)???

Okay so! Makoto definitely isn’t getting the Chiaki treatment lol, at this point there aren’t plans for any of the class to die (I think at least, I vaguely remember CircusComics suggesting somebody but I can’t recall who lol).

Makoto is a bit of an interesting case though, he’s affiliated with the remnants and officially part of the team, but he’s not really in despair. He’s stuck around this long because he cares about his friends and wants to keep them safe, but he doesn't experience despair the same way the others do. His Ultimate Hope powers have meant he could avoid the brunt of Junko’s brainwashing and manipulation, but she (up until locking herself in Hopespeak with class 77) and the other thh kids have still been trying to get Makoto into despair.

He’s usually on house arrest at their main base so Kyoko (the de facto leader once Junko dies) can keep an eye on him, and the only times he actually gets to leave is when he’s visiting with the rest of the class wherever they are, but he doesn’t really get to ever be unaccompanied by at least one remnant, just incase he got any bright ideas about contacting the Future Foundation.

The reason the remnants aren’t being more proactive in trying to force Makoto into despair is pretty early on Hagakure used his talent to look into the future about it, and saw that eventually Makoto was going to be in despair, so it was just a matter of waiting.

Now as for Kamakura, you’re right that it’s not Hajime this time around. Still someone with ties to class 77, and someone from the reserve course, someone who believed she deserved to be in the main course, that she was just as talented and important as her big brother…

SPOILERS FOR DR3 AND ASSORTED OTHER DANGANRONPA MEDIA

How come nobody (least from i have seen) has talked about how evil and corrupt hopespeak really was? They exploited people for money with their nane, used a vunrable kid for human experimentation using data they seemingly ilegally took by studying the kids they were meant to be teaching. These experiments lead to him becoming a hollow shell with next to no emotions before locking him away possibly indefinitely. This doesnt even begin to cover all the murders they have covered up which leads me to belive they have connections to the cops, probably through the graduated pupils showing a deeper run corruption that we dont see....and these are the good guys? Like yes i am literally a Junko fanboy and im probably bias but god damn if she didnt take advantage of this soneone else was bound to eventually, if you really look into it its pretty dystopian how many downright evil and negletful things they did yet they are kniwn as the center of hope in the world. Idk maybe im being too harsh it seems like their intentions were for the betterment of tbe worl...but are all these twisted things really justified?

Sorry this is very rambly just my thoughts, woukd love to hear others opinions on this as its a topic i have seen so little info on despite how interesting it is

One interesting thing about the dr1 intro that I tend to forget is how Makoto mentions learning most of his prior knowledge about his classmates from a popular forum that discusses them.

So like... is there a r/hopespeak or something? Is there a community of people who wait every year to see who gets picked and then posts info of them to talk about? Most of them are already known publicly because of their talents so it wouldn't be hard to do, but imagine how chaotic that forum would look in real life

Probably not, but that doesn't mean there isn't a small chance it could happen. With the direction everyone has taken in their life, some still play together, some are doing their own thing. I mean, Smarty has a kid, and they have a band and they have a job they're doing, so they haven't had much play time with everyone. You should check out their band though, it's called Hopespeak!

So I've thought of an AU where Teruteru has a secret twin. They were separated when their parents split and finally reunited when they arrived at hopespeak.

This is them. Teruteru on the right and on the left his twin, Heruheru. Heru is older by a minute.

What I’m trying to say is, what type of personality and voice would you portray each character?

The characters I’ve been introduced to are:

If you would give a brief description of their personality and how they would sound like (or voice claims, which basically means that character would sound like this actor/character), that would be really helpful!

Oh! I think I understand it now.

Fuyuhiko: Back in hopespeak he was pretty stand-offish and kind of rude to others around him. Social interaction wasn't exactly his forte. The only people he felt any sort of connection was Peko and his sister. That was till he met Teru. When they spoke to each other for the first time, Fuyuhiko felt more relaxed and less agitated over little things. He still does have a slight temper but he mostly uses his rage against anyone who hurts his family. The person to voice him would be Derek Stephen Prince. He voices the English dub in the game and executes the character pretty well in my opinion

Teruteru: Back in hopespeak he was actually rather shy. He wasn't really the type to speak up or ask others for help even when he really needed it. He preferred to be by himself if it meant there would be no one around to hurt him. That was till he met Fuyu. When the spoke to each other, Teruteru felt he had more courage to speak up more. Much like his husband (Fuyuhiko) he does have a temper but he has more control over it. He only really ever gets angry when someone hurts his family or purposefully pushes him to his breaking point. The person to voice him would be Todd Haberkorn. I love his voice in game and I feel it really suits his character.

Hiyoko: Given her background of constant bullying in her previous schools, safe to say she wasn't going to let that happen during her time in hopespeak. She'd do anything to insure that no one would mess with her. Then one day she met Teruteru and Fuyuhiko. They were very good friends and still are to this very day. She feels happy knowing that she doesn't have to fight alone. Hiyoko is definitely the one with the biggest temper. She get agitated by little things pretty easily. Kira Buckland is the one who voices her and she nails the character pretty well.

Monaca: Poor girl was born into a ruthless household. Neglectful parents, abusive brother, her life was basically the song Look who's inside again by Bo burnham. She felt she had to lie in order to get the attention and love that she was deprived of. Well, she used to. A few months after the tragic event on Towa city, FF was planning on what exactly they should do with the WOH. They saw the pain of 4 of them, but not Monaca. They planned to "eliminate" her. Their plan would've succeeded if not for Teruteru. He was the only person who saw through it all. He was the only one willing to save her. He was the only person who saved her. At this point in time Monaca lives her life happily under the watchful eye of her fathers. Her English VA Cristina Valenzuela does an excellent job at her character.

Yayoi: He doesn't really much like his past so we're just gonna skip that part. The world to him is vast and wonderous. He wishes to explore every bit that he can. And he won't have to do it alone with Nagito by his side. Nagito is Yayoi's first ever friend after all. He's never one to get angry at all. He's very optimistic and willing to try new things. He's got quite the intelligence which at times is pushed to the side for his child like wonder of the world around him. I have a feeling that He'd have the same voice actor as Teruteru. Sense they're in a way the same person.

Melidosa and Hinata are my assigned comfort ship and I’m their number one fan 😌 this was originally going to be a quick thing for Hinatas birthday using his birthday to show how their dynamic has changed. Then I felt bad about being late and figured I’d go all in !

Me yelling about these two is under the cut, bc they've been with me for a hot minute

Melidosa is accepted into Hopespeak as the SHSL Bookshop Owner. Hearing about the expenses of the reserve course, Melidosa decides to offer the course material for the reserve course at a cheaper price or for rental (its a win win business move regardless) And because of this he and Hajime land up meeting.

Hinata gradually lands up showing up to the bookshop more and more, and as he does the two start to become close enough for Meli to know Hajime isn’t super confident bc of his lack of talent. So Meli proposes hanging out more in order to search for Hajime’s talent. Which Meli means as a well meaning gesture, but I think it would solidify to Hinata the need for a talent?   But the result of them hanging out more brings them closer, with feelings possibly starting to bloom with neither acting on it. 

Cut to Hinata and the Kamukura Project.  Like right before it, the two would probably get into a pretty heated argument. Essentially, Meli thinks that Hinata is dropping out of Hopespeak, and hes upset because 1. It feels like Hinata is giving up on his dreams and 2. Meli thought he was close enough that Hinata would be upfront w/ him on it. 

Then boom. Hinata essentially disappears and Melidosa is left not knowing how to cope with it? And he’s prolly like trying to look into the school files and see if his friend is okay! He’s not coping super great, he’s waiting for Hinata to come back eventually. It doesn’t happen, but yknow what does? The end of the world. 

At this point he’s freaking out especially bc of the reserve course protests. So he’s absolutely worried Hinata isn’t okay. So, rather than staying with a group he decides to seek Hinata out himself. Eventually he almost gets killed being saved by Kamukura who only saved him out of mere boredom. Their start is pretty rocky with Meli not letting himself heal and Kamukura just: okay but ppl aren’t normally this stupid 

Their early dynamic feels v much like the song No reason? Optimistic vs Pessimistic but, Meli lands up staying around Kamkura, bc even though the guys kind of an ass, he appreciates the guys honesty at the v least. “Y’know for a guy who has all these talents, you don’t know anything about emotions it’s kinda funny.” They warm up to each other a bit, but its Meli asking the guy a bunch of questions.

Meli is probably assumed to be a remnant of despair bc, why?? Would you hang out that much with Kamakura otherwise tbh. So cool simulation things, and Hinata and Meli get to have a happy little reunion out of the simulation. From there they probably get to a: “Are we dating?”  “Y..yeah? Idk I don't think we ever confessed kinda vibe.” Or they’re still pining and everyone is yelling at them to get together there is no in-between.

Shuichi Saihara and Oma Kokichi are roomates at Hopespeak Academy, but surpisingly get along well. Although irritating at first, Shuichi ends up enjoying all his time spent with the boy, realizing it's more than a friendship, which terrifies him for fear of others' views on it. Kokichi on the other hand, has liked the boy ever since they met, but is hiding a lot from him. He doubts Shuichi likes him back, but enjoys flirting anyway. Kokichi falls first, but Shuichi falls harder. Basically, it's if Shuichi and Kokichi were in a slice of life bl rather than a killing game!!! Also oblivious Kaede and a frustrated Rantaro doing his best to flirt with her. Sorry to the Kaito stans, he's a little homophobic here (just at first cuz he doesn't understand).
