Just finished Sinostra's chapter myself.... I gotta say though, was a little underwhelming compared to other chapters.... Honestly the entire thing felt like a one-man show by Ritsu + some sexual tension between Taiga and Romeo whenever they interact lol. MC has never felt more like a spectator than she did in this chapter, I was waiting for her to do absolutely *anything* but she really was just... there lmao. Not even hand-holding this time!

Even the Like Dove showed up AFTER mc left, when it was just Taiga and Romeo in the room, and then later again when Romeo barges into Taiga's room - this time mc was there but, just barely lol, the whole focus was on Taiga and Romeo's almost shoot-off, and Taiga's line saying "You really could shoot through my heart"?? And the fact that he sensed Romeo approaching before he even saw him, and so far is the only person who he clearly remembers and freely gives compliments to lol, Lulu is a cute nickname tho.

Regardless, Taiga's strange response to the Like Dove could possibly mean Kaito's explanation about it might not be true after all, since anomalies are still a mystery, wouldn't be strange for false rumors to make the rounds.

And I while I don't hate Ritsu - I appreciate he's a hard worker and tries to make the best of any situation he's put in - I dislike how he really just one-sidedly handled everything in this chapter and only ever explains after they're done lol. The case didn't feel like an investigation at all, Ritsu just pulls some numbers out of the air and acts on them (where is he getting all that data??) and in the end they won against it because it had to prevent a paradox from happening...? lmao idk overall just felt so underwhelming.

Also we never find out what the deal was about the girl in the tower?? Why even mention that detail if they're not gonna do anything with it... An anomaly that was born from the negative emotions gathering in a casino replaces people's memories with a girl in a tower.... My guess is it wanted enough people to "remember" her so she could come into existence? Like Takeru's ghost. I wonder what for though... Will they revisit this or not.....

You could pluck out MC from this chapter and absolutely nothing would change imo because Ritsu was doing everything anyways, only name-dropped mc when mentioning it was an investigation, that's it. While I don't necessarily need her to be the star or a hero, having 0 influence on the chapter is not great writing imo.

Kaito and his silly antics were the highlight for me. And I found it hilarious how him being stripped down and locked up in Romeo's "private office" feels like the setting of any self-indulgent "dark romance" fiction between a rich CEO and helpless debtor who has to cater to the captor's whims lol.

Finally Hotarubi is next, I've been curious about it since I got sorted into it, and want to see more of Haku. I agree he's sus, his dialogue in the prologue if you choose him only highlights the fact. But something about him really compels me

Sorry for the long ask, I have a thousand thoughts twirling around in my mind about TD, it should probably cool down between the entire month that's left before next story update.... but also there's new games coming out next month so hopefully I don't forget about TD completely either lol....

I also felt like the content was a bit lacking to the point I went and checked Jabberwock's chapter count and was surprised to find it's actually a tad shorter than Sinostra's. I think the main reason it felt so short to me was because I wasn't locked out of progressing this time around, but the case progression also felt much much quicker. If I'm sitting back and evaluating it as a writer, I think that's probably because of the setting being confined to the school and dorm. Sure, a lot happens, but you don't actually go anywhere, unlike in the previous three books.

Our MC has a very laid-back personality, which I don't mind. BUT the game really should allow for the chance for her to work things out on her own, even if she's too afraid of the other characters to verbalize it and keeps them to herself. There are several times in the book when she tries to point out inconsistencies in Ritsu's logic or other evidence she notices, but she's talked over pretty much every single time. It's what made me really hate Ritsu since you did not see that with Ren, Haru, or Towa, but i get that it's sort of tricky when writing more domineering characters to balance not making them overshadow the more laid back ones but still keeping them true to their personalities. I don't think Ritsu would have paid attention to Kaito if MC wasn't there, nor do I think Taiga would have paid attention to Ritsu, but that's just me speculating because the story doesn't clearly communicate it. This book was poorly written, a lot of the problems people have with MC could be fixed with a few additional lines where she's shown wanting to do something but reminding herself she has to play nice with the ghouls otherwise they won't break her curse. Her personality makes sense to me, but her writing does not.

Now. I disagree about the no real moments this chapter but ah. Well. You see. There is something deeply wrong with me so I completely get if this did nothing but disturb you but when Taiga has MC strapped to the torture chair 👉👈

Look I know potentially getting a hicky from a guy that strapped you to a torture chair and just shot you (for the second time) isn't everyone's thing but it is mine I was so well fed this chapter from that alone ( ; ω ; ) AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW HE CALLS HER KITTEN AND EATS THE FUCKING LIKE DOVE??? RAW??? ROMEO ROMEO WHY FOR ART THOU INTERRUPING ROMEO I WANTED TO SEE WHAT HE WAS GONNA DO- forgive me anon I'm afraid I'm most unwell.

Speaking of the Like dove and the memories of the tower. The Tower thing reminds me of rapunzel, especially because she's out alone in the woods, but it feels super out of left field, no? If the anomaly is born from the Casino, which Taiga states "is him," then I wonder if the girl in the tower is representative of something he's forgotten? The chapter places an emphasis on how anomalies can affect memory, so it's not too big of an assumption to make that something must have happened to Taiga to make his memory this bad. As for the like dove... Romeo seems very surprised to see it, almost suggesting he never has before, which can you imagine how funny it would be if it showed up for him and Taiga. They've been friends and business partners for at least two years, I refuse to believe the dove would only just show up now. The image of him just never seeing it because everyone is too polite/afraid of him to point it out is too funny. The dove shows up twice this chapter, both times it sort of read to me like it had been there for a bit before it was noticed and in both cases Taiga reacts to it negatively. Given how paranoid he seems to be, I think it's probably because the idea of him caring/having someone care about him scares him due to the unpredictability of it and the potential for betrayal. He seems to think people only want to use him, so that's probably part of it too. I'm constantly doing way too many lines of copium, so to me the dove seemed triggered by Taiga's interactions with MC but I also see where you're coming with Romeo. Their friendship is much less adversarial than it was implied to be in their little blurbs, and I quite like that a lot. You know even if Taiga seems to think Romeo is always taking away his fun. And what's up with his constant want to eat anomalies, is Romeo not feeding him enough?

Slight correction, Taiga does seem to remember who Haru is, Harry and Lulu are both derivative of their names, so maybe he can only remember people in his year clearly? Or does it also include second years? He sounds very surprised at the concept of a "first year ghoul" in his house so maybe his memories are cutting off everything other than the previous two years...

I also have a bunch more thoughts but I'll cut myself off here ×-× gotta let some of them simmer before I make too much of a fool of myself (I already have)

Maybe his parents are separated or his father doesn't spend any of their money on him. . .or the company isn't doing well. . .or gambling addiction runs in his family lol. . . .

I love how comfortable and honest he starts to get as his affinity goes up. Still shy here and there, still scared, but he's not as jumpy and he starts treating you like a real friend. laughs with you about stuff, talks a little about hobbies and struggles. doesn't try and look cool for you. and then the honesty--i'm a weak coward, but i wanna be better for you. i wanna spend time with you. just!!! he grows!!! he realizes you like him for who he is and how he is, even if that's a weak coward--and that that's exactly what he wants! and it's okay for him to be that way because you won't be put off by it, even if it's something he'd like to grow from so he can be better for you--but he wants to be better for you as himself and--idk. i have feelings about characterization lol.

He really could have ended up a very plain and 'safe' character, but he's managed to be very charming and entertaining with his struggles and exaggerated behavior, while still being a simple and safe type. Really looking forward to seeing how he plays into the rest of the story, since it seems like his pendant may be kind of important. . . .

Thinks it's adorable how shy you are about physical contact. Although that's something that he won't tell you (at least not at first) he definitely teases you about how easy it is to get you to become a blushing mess

Will find any excuse to hold your hand "to enhance his stigma" (he really just likes seeing how red you get)

Tohma

He thinks it's so cute that you get that flustered from the slightest

Isn't big on physical contact in public, especially at the start of the relationship, but will "accidentally" brush his arm against your or touch your hand if you're both reaching for the same thing

The most he'll do in public is cup your face or kiss the back of your hand

Acts all innocent afterwards while delighting in how flustered you look

Luca

It took him a little while to realise that you got flustered easily - at first, he freaked out because he thought he had done something wrong or you were suddenly feeling unwell

Like the gentleman he is, he'd never deliberately fluster you in public - he hates the idea of embarrassing you by mistake. Honestly, the most he'd do is hold your hand (if you're ok with that), link arms, or kiss the back of your hand when he's greeting you

In private though it's a whole different question

He's very gentle, especially at the start - hugs, kisses on the cheek, hand holding ... but that doesn't mean he finds it any less cute when your cheeks become bright red

Kaito

Ah yes the boyfailure

You two are a match made in heaven

It takes him a WHILE to notice how flustered you are because while you're freaking out and blushing, he's busy doing the exact same thing

After a lot of talking to each other (and taking it slow) you both begin to relax more about physical affection, though it takes a of encouragement and reassurance for him to reach that stage

As your "knight", he'll try to initiate any physical contact. However, if you decide to initiate anything, especially in the early stages, he will literally combust

Alan

A bit wary of touching you at first, just because he's used to putting up so many walls to protect himself, and the idea of being intimate is scary at first

He's also terrified of hurting you by mistake - even if you're pretty tough, he's a ghoul, and one of the strongest ones at that, so he'll still see you as fragile

However, after some time passes, he'd start to initiate things like hand holding or cuddling. Sometimes, he'll even pull you onto his lap

When he first saw you flustered you got, he was worried he'd done something wrong. However, after he understood that you were just a bit shy about physical contact, he found it so sweet

Won't try to fluster you in public, but now he can't keep his hands off of you when you guys are alone <3

Sho

He understands why you're blushing straight away and teases you endlessly about it

Will definitely fluster you a bit in public - he secretly loves PDA because it makes him feel like you belong to him

However, most of that is left for when you guys are in private - he'll shower you with praise and kisses

Definitely spoon feeds you your finger sometimes or does the whole "you have something on your lips" thing as an excuse to kiss you

If you're cooking together, he'd 100% hug you from behind while instructing you (not that it's easy to focus with his body and the smell of his cologne that close to you)

He also teases you constantly, but a bit more maliciously about it than Sho

Even though he won't admit it, he'll try to fluster you subtly because seeing his reaction is a huge ego boost for him (he also finds it adorable, but you'd have to torture that out of him)

It takes Leo a while to become more deliberate about physical contact, but when he does, he's all about PDA - he loves showing you off and seeing you blush when he's doing it

Haru

When you guys first become close, his touch starts off very platonic - a hanc in your shoulder, a friendly hug, that kind of thing

However, when he sees how flustered you get after you two start dating and he becomes more intimate, it has a bigger impact on him then he'd thought

Definitely teases you in a good natured way and tries to make you blush if you two are alone

When he's worn out from all his chores, he'll call you yo his room so he can cuddle you

Ren

Although he's completely in denial about it, he's also a flustered mess

He's not used to physical affection and is a bit closed off, so it takes him a bit to start exploring that area of your relationship

He'd definitely pretend it's accidental at first- something like your fingers brushing or your legs touching when you're sitting next to each other

When he sees how pink your cheeks become, he grows even more flustered - why are you so adorable

Despite his efforts to hide it, you make him just as flustered

Over time, with a lot of patience (mostly on your end) you guys begin to feel more calm about physical affection. However, it'll definitely stay private as Ren is not into PDA at all

Towa

Another guy who keeps his hands constantly on you - he's so clingy

Whenever he sees you, he'll hug you hard and for a long period of time.

Since night is the only time you get to hear his voice properly, you two often go out then and fall asleep cuddling under the stars

Jin turned the key, locking the imponent doors to his room, hands trembling and clammy. He wasn't a stranger to anger and disappointment – heavens knew he felt it quite frequently about himself, but this time, it clearly wasn't that simple.

He could live with his self-loathing, but with this strange, foreign feeling tugging at his heartstrings, he felt like he was choking.

He didn't know jealousy until now.

You looked like a cornered animal as your gaze flickered to the lock on his door, shoulders tensing up as if your body readied itself to run from danger.

His poor little defenseless lamb.

Jin took long, slow strides towards your figure, and he couldn't contain the smirk that tugged on the corners of his lips as he saw you fidget in place, uncomfortably.

His tall figure overshadowed you as he got close – you flinched, shutting your eyes tight as he moved one of his hands to touch your cheek. It slid languidly to your neck, your shoulders, your arms, finally settling on your hands.

Your eyes opened wide as he intertwined his fingers with yours and his smile grew wider as he saw realization dawn on you just a little bit slower than his words.

“You are not allowed to run away from me and you are not allowed to speak.” he murmured against the skin of your hand as he brought it to his lips and placed a kiss on it.

You blinked fast, the command reverberating into your mind like words echoing in a deep, bottomless canyon. Your mouth closed, and your limbs went limp – all fight dissipating from your body in a split second.

Jin's smile left his face like melting ice and he sighed deeply, letting go of your hand unceremoniously.

Finally, he could relax. Everything was soon going to be fixed.

You see, you left him no choice. If only he knew sooner, he wouldn't need to be so rash with his decisions – but, to be fair, he was also the one to blame.

If he left his room more frequently, then maybe he would be able to prevent the mockery of him that, apparently, kept happening outside his door.

If he just kept his eyes and hands on you at all times from the very beginning, you would never have the time to get close to any of those pathetic colleagues of his.

Jin knew very well Darkwick would have you assigned to other houses (despite his protests and phone calls to his father), but he thought you were smarter than that – he thought you would never take advantage of the time he allowed you to have in order to fulfill your missions.

He never said you could spend time with the peasants from other houses, now did he?

He never allowed you to breathe the same disgusting air of those brutes from Vagastrom or those unrefined weirdos from Jabberwock of your own accord, did he?

He never said you could mingle with the morally decayed thugs from Sinostra or those depressing vipers from Hotarubi, did he?

Oh, he gave you so much freedom, and you still tried to walk a stray path. Once again, his trust was broken, but rest assured: he'd make sure you would never forget who you belong to ever again.

Jin fished out a cigarette pack from his pockets, taking one out as he looked at you.

You stared at the floor, avoiding his gaze, arms hugging your own body tightly as you shivered. Out of fear or out of cold, he didn't know. But that was exactly how he wanted you: quiet, gentle, submissive to him and his whims. That was how his precious property was supposed to act.

Jin put a cigarette in between his lips, before changing his mind and getting close to you once again. He tipped your chin upwards, forcing you to meet his gaze. His thumb touched your lower lip, pushing it downwards.

“Open your mouth” he murmured, and you complied hesitantly, having no other choice.

His other hand brought the cigarette to your lips, and pushed it inside your mouth. Your eyes widened and you tried shaking your head to spit it out, but his previously gentle hand held your head in place with an iron grip.

“Be quiet. I know you don't smoke. I just want you to light it for me.” he grumbled, putting his lighter on your hand.

Jin stepped back, mildly pleased at the way the cigarette hung limp from your lips, and motioned at your hand and then your mouth, egging you to do as he said.

You blinked, confused, but ultimately brought the lighter towards the cigarette. Your untrained hand flickered the lighter once, twice, thrice before a flame stood still enough for you to bring the end of the stick to the fire.

The flame burned the tip of the cigarette, lighting more than was necessary, and the smoke went straight down your throat. You took the cigarette out of your mouth before a coughing fit overwhelmed you, the disgusting smoke entering your lungs and choking you, leaving a bitter taste on your tongue. Immediately after, acid refluxed to your throat, and you swallowed, feeling it burn down your chest.

Jin chuckled at your inexperience, and leisurely walked to his desk, fetching a glass of water. Your trembling hands accepted it from him as he grabbed the poorly lit cigarette from your sweaty fingers.

He put it in between his lips and took a long drag.

His mind went straight to the way your lips touched the stick, and he rolled his eyes back as the smoke billowed out of his mouth, feeling pathetic over how his heart skipped beats at the mere thought of an indirect kiss.

He didn't need to find reprieve in dumb little ways like that anymore. Now that he had you where he wanted you, he could be patient until you gave him the attention he truly deserved.

“Do you know why I summoned you here?” he asked, after puffing his cigarette a few more times.

You sat on his loveseat, still coughing from time to time, and shook your head, meekly.

“I have heard from Tohma. You've been babysitting that new Obscuary monster.” Jin tapped his foot, the sound echoing inside his heavily soundproofed room. “I don't suppose that is a mission, now is it?”

You flailed your arms around you, trying to explain yourself without your voice and he clicked his tongue.

“It doesn't matter. Even if it is, it's absurd. I thought I told you you were to answer my requests at all times.” he sat beside you on the loveseat, his icy eyes burning like frostbite.

“And now I find out you are actually wasting precious time with other students. What's worse, you've also been answering to that self-important bankrupt from Sinostra.” he shook his head, disbelief and anger on his features as he furrowed his eyebrows.

“You've been forgetting your priorities.” he sighed and played with a strand of your hair before tucking it behind your ear.

“I have been so patient. Holding back all this time, giving you freedom that you don't deserve. But now I see my mistake. One would think I have learned I shouldn't trust anyone, but I thought a little harmless lamb like you wouldn't betray me.”

Your breath became ragged at his threatening words, and you coughed again, your throat still hurt and burning.

“I will have you make a little decision for me, and I hope you'll be wise” his hand cupped your cheek gently, thumb stroking your skin, damp with cold sweat.

“I want you to dedicate your entire time to me, as you should have done from the very beginning. I want you to act accordingly to the fact that you're mine. Don't fucking waste your days on anyone else and be at my beck and call, like the obedient little lamb you should have always been. Otherwise…” his thumb landed back on your lips.

“Otherwise, I'll unfortunately have to force the academy to expel those two second year brats from my house, since you seem to be so fond of them” he smirked, chest swelling with pride at the way your eyes widened and glistened with tears that threatened to fall.

“I'm sure you'll make the proper decision. You weren't very well behaved, but I'm sure you aren't that dumb.” he patted your cheek and got up, walking towards his door.

“I will leave you to think about it. You are allowed to speak and move properly now” he quickly opened the lock while you gasped, your hands clawing your throat as you tried to call his name, begging him to wait.

He stepped outside, giving a final glance at your trembling form, still slumped on his loveseat, although your arms tried to reach out toward him.

“Oh, and try not to scream. No one will hear you anyway.” he smiled, satisfied with what he saw, and locked the door once again, confining you in the freezing loneliness of his room.

Edward behind a suspect in the murder of the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty feels like a stretch ngl. [It's just kinda weird? He's an old man, the strongest vamp, sure but he's an old man who watches youtube streams all day.] [Bro was probably sleeping when the Clash occurred. UNLESS it occurred at night, then it's believable he killed someone.] In the prologue, Kaito starts telling us a rumour about the Captain of Obscuary but is stopped when Cornelius interrupts because of the prophecy. [iirc] But, the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty caused the clash. The suspects are: 1) Jiro Kirisaki - [1st year at the time] 2) Alan Mido - [2nd year at the time] 3) Towa Otonashi - [Ist year at the time] 4) Rui Mizuki - [2nd year at the time] 5) Edward Hart - [399 years old at the time??]/[2nd year at the time] If the PC is the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty from another timeline, it's very surprising that Taiga isn't on the list. What sort of personality are the characters drawn to?

Jin is drawn to someone with a strong enough personality that they can withstand his abrasive nature. Someone with a backbone.

At the same time, he doesn’t mind people who will do what he tells them to, no questions asked. Sometimes following orders on a dime is a matter of life and death.

He’s drawn to people who have high self esteem and good self confidence. Jin can be rough with his words sometimes and his partner needs to be able to withstand that to a certain extent.

I think he would also be drawn to someone who knows what they want in life and is willing to work for it. It would be nice if they weren’t afraid to ask for help from him on occasion as well. It makes him feel needed and wanted.

Thoma is drawn to hard workers. He’s got a busy life himself so he needs someone who’s used to a fast paced day.

He also needs someone loyal and passionate in his life. He seems to have a lot of conflicting loyalties, including loyalty to himself so he needs to be able to trust whoever he’s in a relationship with.

I can see him being drawn to someone who is quick witted and has some degree of intelligence. Whether it’s book smarts or street smarts, he doesn’t have a preference, just so long as they’re able to demonstrate intelligence.

He would also be drawn to someone who is observant and empathetic. Someone who can recognise the signs of burnout and give him a helping hand when it's needed.

Luca’s a tricky one. I see him as someone who falls for someone slowly based on their personality and actions rather than seeing a few things and being drawn to someone.

I do see him being drawn to loyalty and honesty. These are both traits he values highly in himself and others so it’s necessary that his romantic partner has them as well.

Luca would also be drawn to people who speak their mind. He’s not the best at social cues so being with someone who can say how they’re feeling clearly means a lot to him.

A mothering personality would also attract Luca. He’s a bit of a mum friend himself but it’s nice being on the receiving end sometimes.

Okay, we’ve got to address the elephant in the room for this one. Kaito is definitely going to be drawn to appearance initially. If you’re conventionally attractive, he’s going to be fawning over you.

Personality wise, he’d be attracted to someone who enjoys having fun. As long as that fun’s not life threatening, he’s happy to tag along and have some fun too.

I see Kaito as someone who would also be drawn to someone who has a lot of energy. He’s got the reserves to keep up and he enjoys seeing people making the most of life.

Kindness is another thing that draws Kaito to people. If you’ve got a soft heart, he’ll find himself wanting to make sure he’s the person you think of most fondly.

He never really knows when to expect it, he tells himself that he can handle it next time you make a comment but ultimately fails in the end.

♥︎ When you first started to tease him, he wouldn’t respond for a few good seconds because of how surprised he was. He doesn’t really have many people around him that aren’t serious with him since he’s a ghoul and also the captain of Hotarubi. Plus Subaru just has a quiet look to himself in general! He finds it a breath of fresh air that you can have that kind of relationship with him.

…that being said, it’s not like he can tease you back cause he gets relatively silent. It’s not as if he doesn’t like it, he just hasn’t encountered a situation like this before. He gets little blushes on his face that can make you want to squish his face. Your best bet to easily flustering him is through physical affection or little comments that come out of nowhere, it catches him off guard so bad.

♥︎ Once he starts getting used to it, he starts to tease you back a bit more. Only in private though, he wants to maintain a slightly professional demeanour about himself… and honestly, he just gets really anxious thinking about teasing you in public. He’s very hesitant about it though, he’s worried that he’ll accidentally hurt you with what he says so he makes sure to choose his words carefully. He definitely says sorry after he makes a remark to you…

But with reassurance he’s fine! It's exactly how I felt with Frostheim too, being excited over the dance with Jin, and then immediately after we get the cigarette kiss scene with Jin and Tohma LOL. But it only makes sense, MC has only just showed up at the school, not enough time to bond, and honestly with these kinds of joseimuke games I don't have much expectations of interactions between the cast and MC so in TD she's already much more involved with the whole comic thing anyways.

Eating the Like Dove raw... was really a raw scene lol. He seems to be attracted to blood for some reason? Since he paused when MC's cut started bleeding, I think he was about to lick the blood tbh.

And yeah I do wonder if his shoddy memory has anything to do with his deal's cost. Another vibe theory time, I feel like his fear of the Like Dove might've been... ingrained in him somehow? Maybe he had a run-in before but can't remember it. The reason why I think this is because when MC met him alone, when she reminded him that she was the Honor student, his response was "Oh no wonder I didn't kill you on the spot", he literally forgot about her but his body/instinct made him aware she's someone he's not supposed to kill.... if that makes sense?

He feels like an even bigger enigma than Towa, I'm curious to know what's going on in his head in the moments he goes eerily quiet. Not to mention he's the poster boy of the game, has to be a reason. Luca feels more in line to be the poster boy but it's Taiga...

I enjoyed Haru's drunk spiel about how helpful MC is lol. Also my eyes going wide when Rui said he wants to know what she's made of too... what does that mean....... I need more Rui content, I love his blatant flirtations lol. I got a campus event with Rui, Haru and Romeo in the bar before I even read the chapter, their unexpected friendship is very cute ngl.

Yeah I get this. The cigarette kiss with Tohma and Jin took me off guard, but that was mostly because I thought this was an otome game? Come to think of it I don't think we've had confirmation of the whole joseimuke v otome game thing beyond the existence of the like dove and individual character affinity... Well and that when this was announced it was supposed to be an otome game. I know that the otome games subreddit has been having some, shall we say spirited? Discussions lately about how players feel about ros getting into relationships with each other. The general opinion was that a lot of times the ro x ro relationships feel more fleshed out that the ro x mc ones, and I agree. I actually stopped writing something I wanted to be an otome game because the story started shaping up to be more about the mc's mentor than them, and I personally do not think that is very fun. People do like laid back mcs, they do not like mcs who have no place in the narrative, and some writers aren't good at balancing that. TDB mc is doing pretty well when it comes to interactions with the main cast compared to something like Twisted Wonderland if what you want is explicit romance, so far it feels like Season 1 of og Obey Me! from what I remember of that game, so we'll see.

I didn't get the same level of intimacy from Romeo and Taiga as I did Jin and Tohma? But I think that's because in both cases I thought the like dove had appeared before Romeo got there and was talking to Taiga and the second scene made me think Taiga was angry at him for interrupting his "fun." Whatever that "fun" was going to wind up being because yeeeeeah he seems like he has a blood kink of some sort. I think he was going to suck on it and bite her a bit, but licking seems like a logical first step and less influenced by what's wrong with me. Like I said over here the scene with the Like Dove fascinates me... it says more about Taiga than any other character in the game that we get to see the dove twice and that when given the chance he shoots and eats it... if that isn't a metaphor for denial and emotional repression then I am not sure what is.

YES. I wanted to talk about this but it sort of got into conspiracy theory territory and my answer was getting long. I don't know if anyone remembers, but waaaay back in Book 1 when mc tries to escape the school she isn't able to get anyone's attention. It's like they don't see her, is that because of her curse or is it because of preventative measures put in place by the school? I want to lean towards the latter because it makes more sense BUT I also want to be delusional and say that it's part of mc's curse. There's something about Taiga's instinctual fear of the Like Dove and his comments to the mc that make me think his body knows her but his paranoia and memory issues keep him from knowing it.

This is just me writing fan fic... but Taiga is technically the first ghoul you meet. He is the poster boy of the game, he is the first person to bring mc into the main loop and tell her there's a spy. I want so badly for him to have known her at some point but to have been robbed of his memories... Romeo seems to think he is trying to forget stuff on purpose "gone off the deep end" and "escape reality" are both things he says to describe him though granted that last one was due to a misunderstanding about what Taiga was trying to do with the anomaly. Something real bad happened last year, something I feel like Taiga doesn't want to acknowledge unless he can get revenge on whoever caused it. I mentioned in another post, but I sort of want MC to have something to do with Clementia and that's why she's there at the dorm beyond it just being empty due to the clash. (I do get why Luca isn't the poster boy; he's not a dorm captain and those seem to be what the game wants to push. well them and towa lol)

Haru and Rui

Rui is a bar tender who is described as being "popular with the female students" probably because of how flirty he is ha. I love his dynamic with Haru and Romeo, just a barman and his two favorite customers shooting the shit and trying to relax. Rui is cursed to kill whoever he touches, so I think he wants to talk with MC more because he can relate to her in a very unique way. And he got gate kept from doing so by Haku in book one so he's extra curious now. I have his SR so I'll put him on my homescreen for a bit and see what voice lines I can shake out of him. For the little bit I did have him there he called him and mc "curse twins" which I thought was very cute. In a dark sort of way. The entire section at the Obscuary bar endeared me to all three of those idiots.

But especially Haru. He called Peekaboo his child this chapter too ;-; he's such a good dad. I wonder if he is going to show up next books at all? Or if it's going to be like the previous books and we'll instead see Taiga and maaaaybe Towa? Since he's friends with Zenji. Nothing to do but wait for May 0-0
