first house episode I ever saw was 5x4 wilson takes house to his father's funeral against his will. also the episode we find out how they met. I thought hey house is a bitch and wilson obviously cares a lot about him and all in all they fit together cool. now that I am watching it again in context I am losing my absolute fucking marbles ngl. like wilson kidnaps house and forcibly takes him on a roadtrip and chooses to be stuck with him in a car for multiple hours while house refuses to process the death of his abusive father. all this AFTER wilson quit his job and moved away because he didn't want to be house's friend anymore. like wilson ignored him to the point where house hired a p.i. to be his friend. and then wilson comes back completely unprompted and does something like this.

Buck & Eddie

Unpopular Opinion

It's season 7 but it appears the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Disclaimer: These are my opinions and they're based on my observations and interpretations of the BTS pics, interviews and promos that have been released in advance of the upcoming episodes.

Back to the regularly scheduled program...

Eddie

It appears my favorite character Eddie Diaz is about to be sidelined yet again and he won't have a beneficial or substantive storyline 🤔🧐 all his own, possibly for the remainder of season 7. As usual, he'll be there to support Buck but is there anything else for Eddie? Can he please have a storyline that's solely about him and Chris and it not be one that's tied to giggly, creepy and smiling Marisol? He hasn't had one since season 3 and it's been four years therefore, it's time (I'm not including the shooting because the audience didn't see his recovery nor am I including his PTSD arc because it wasn't given the time it deserved and after 5x14 he wasn't shown going to therapy anymore so there's that. Furthermore, he wasn't even shown preparing to go back to the 118, he just slid down the fireman's pole in 5x18 and it wasn't revisited). Can Eddie and Chris FINALLY have an open and honest conversation about Shannon? Eddie views her through a pair of rose colored glasses because he thinks it's his fault but there were two people in their relationship so he shouldn't shoulder all the blame especially when she left and was gone for almost 2 years without a call to her son. A conversation between just the two of them is needed because Chris is older now and he read the letter she wrote in 7x1. The audience didn't see him ask Eddie any questions about it and we didn't see how he's feeling now that he knows she may not have ever returned if she hadn't died.

Eddie and Chris have the largest biological family of all the mains (not including Bobby because other than his deceased wife and two children, the audience hasn't been introduced to them... like ever) but for some reason they moved Eddie’s abuela back to El Paso even though his aunt has that big house that she lives in by herself. Also, the audience never gets to see Eddie’s sisters and with all the attention that's going to be given to Tommy in the upcoming episodes, it's likely the audience might not get to see them this time either. Eddie has a deep and interesting background but the show barely touches the surface of it. Can Eddie please be given a worthy storyline all on his own? He deserves it!

Buck

So... is the audience supposed to just forget everything that happened to Buck in season 6? Apparently, so because based on OS's multiple interviews, Buck’s not dwelling on the broken relationship with his parents (they're still $hitty, their rushed and trifiling redemption arc sucked and it was undeserved. I don't trust them but Buck does so, whatever), there hasn't been any more mentions of Connor's and Kameron's baby (Full Disclosure: I still don't believe their baby is biologically his but it's probably been forgotten or retconned like everything else including Buck’s age), does he or does he not still want to be captain? He's not in therapy and he may or may not go back but he's moved on from his death, so I guess there's no trauma resulting from it. How does he feel about his job now because... HE DIED while he was doing it in 6x10 but the audience didn't see him process it even though every other character processed their own individual traumas.

Eddie used a baseball bat to destroy his bedroom in 5x13, Maddie walked into the ocean in 5x12, Hen went to therapy after 3x8, Bobby broke his sobriety in 1x4, Athena broke down in season 5 after she killed Jeffrey and Chimney took Jee-Yun with him to find Maddie in 5x4 and they were gone for 6 months. They all went to therapy at some point but it appears Buck’s immune to the trauma he's experienced so there's that.

7x4 airs tomorrow and I'm still not excited about it. After the way 6x18 ended, I hoped things would be different but maybe my expectations were too high. I don't think so because IMO, the upcoming episodes seem to be repetitive and basically a wash, rinse, repeat of the past. Maybe it will be different... but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Will the rest of season 7 be different for Buck and Eddie or is the focus still going to be solely on Buck? Who knows except the showrunner, writers, producers, actors and actresses since they are the only ones who know the answer to that question.

Number Four in my series of Victorian debitcard renovations, this is The Bridle Path Redux

This is a Tudorbethan whopper, theydies and gentlethems, the biggest in the series so far, its on a 5x4 lot and costs §622,407 (ouch), and the file is big, so caution is advised.

In game this house has all your rich Victorians could desire. Set on expansive grounds, lavishly furnished, it contains two libraries, a small and a large drawing room, an enormous three-room master suite (bed, bath and boudoir + a balcony), two further double bedrooms, day and night nurseries with beds for no less than seven children and Nanny, and in the attic more servants accomodation than any sensible simmer would ever use.

The lot has been playtested and seems to function fine, there's minor routing issues with the blue library but everything else is accessible and usable.

I will be compiling a CC list of anything that doesn't ship with the lot at some point but do drop me a message if anything is blue and flashy, I hope your wealthy Victorian sims enjoy their home!!

ooo okay i love how yall are giving me options LOL (and tbh let’s do both i’ll put the second one under the cut with a trigger warning)

ngl if thought about this first one a few times, sometimes in relation to a fic but others just in general and i think wilson really likes kids, he seems like the kind of person who wants kids but just never really had the right situation/circumstance to have them so when he finally has a partner where it even gets to that point in the conversation that they’re considering starting a family together, i think it makes him very happy, especially when you get the news confirming you’re pregnant.

maybe you want to do something special to tell him, but maybe if you’re around house he picks up on it first and tells wilson and wilson doesn’t believe him because “come on, she would have told me” but you were waiting just a little bit longer to get your surprise together so you’re a little surprised when wilson tells you about the interaction in the evening and your poker face is completely non existent. he would say “i told him you wouldn’t lie to me…” then he looks over and sees you. “right?” and you can’t keep the secret and you blurt out that you were going to tell him soon and you just wanted to get a few things ready, but he doesn’t wait for you to finish your sentence and just cuts you off with a kiss because he’s so over the moon for once that house is right.

i think in this situation, if you went to princeton-plainsboro because it was the hospital nearby when you miscarried and wilson is your emergency contact, he’s obviously quite worried (if it’s post amber he’s definitely having some ptsd and drops whatever he’s doing to come see you)

when he gets to you the doctors have already given you the news and he can tell something’s off, especially when the doctors tell him that you’ll be fine because you clearly don’t look fine and you’re in the hospital for a reason

he doesn’t pressure you into saying anything when he comes over to your bed, but there’s a million thoughts going through his mind as to what it could be before you quietly tell him you’d miscarried

his heart is obviously broken but i think he’d default to trying to take care of you and make sure you were okay and had what you needed, but it’s just a very grief filled and sobering experience for you both, but it feels a little different than other kinds of grief you’ve experienced, partially because the loss of your child, but also because you have someone who equally shares in that sadness with you

Sacré Cœur; Two Hearts, Two Records and "One One Recording Studio"

In TWDDD 1x3 Paris Sera Toujours Paris we saw Daryl admiring the view from Isabelle's appartment. He commented on how it sure was better than the view from his old house. And I agree, the Sacré-Cœur/Sacred Heart Basilica truly is a sight to behold.

Daryl seemed to be particularly taken by the view, in a way we don't often get to see him, and as a very obvious heart reference, it naturally it brought my mind to Beth's double heart/button necklace. I talked about the symbolism around Button the Horse from season 5 in this post, how it's ultimately Sirius symbolism.

However, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica was not the only reason episode 1x3 made me think of her necklace...

...because there was also this:

...which I'll get back to, but first things first.

Daryl loved the view of the Sacred Heart Basilica.

"It sure beats the view from my old house"

A "view" is a "vista". "Vista" means "view". We remember a different kind of "vista" from 4x12 Still:

Pine Vista Country Club from 4x12 Still.

Daryl' spent the majority of episode 1x3 talking about getting home. It was all about getting to a radio (Sirius symbolism) so he could get home (North Star symbolism). And the Sacré-Cœur/Sacred Heart Basilica made him think of the "vista" of his old house, which weren't nearly as nice...

...but at least Beth was there, with her trademark double hearts/button necklace.

My primary method of tracking symbolism in TWDU is through etymology, which means the history of words. Sometimes, when tptb use a symbol that might seem random at first, a search on the etymology of the word often helps clear things up. Etymology can tell you the root word of a particular symbol, and you'll often find that two seemingly unrelated symbols in reality are one and the same.

When Beth, in 5x4 Slabtown, found Dr. Trevvit's ID card and realised he was an onchologist from Saint Ignatius Hospital, it was all symbolism. Sirius symbolism to be precise, because the word Sirius is derived from Greek “Seirios” and means "glowing/scorching".

And you know this was no coincidence because of his speciality onchology, which means he likely dealt with radiation therapy. "Radio" and "radiation" are Sirius references.

So Beth finding his ID card from Saint Ignatius is pure Sirius symbolism. And keep this in mind until later, when I'll explain how this all relates to the symbolism around records.

Because we also saw Beth talk about records in Slabtown. I've talked a lot about Noah's t-shirt. It has the stylized heron on it, an obvious reference to the Blue Heron painting from 4x12 Still. It also has he words "one one recording studio" written on it. Obviously we know Beth was all about music, she even commented on how long it had been since she'd heard a record.

So to have "records" as general music references around Beth makes a whole lot of sense.

But we often see records in other settings as well, and we saw no less than TWO records in TWDDD 1x3. I mentioned one of them in this post from a few days ago, the record by the tombstone of Jim Morrison.

but there was also this one:

...wich we saw in the mysterious and frustrating detour to Angers, where we were treated to a spectacular yet disturbing Orchestra of the Dead, and a slightly mad conductor. Musical references en masse, but it wasn't necessarily clear how tptb wanted us to interpret it.

So, we had two records. Or "one one", as you could also say (in that one plus one equals two).

I've checked the etymology (or the history/origin) of the word "record".

The word "record", as in the "recording studio" on Noah's t-shirt, or like the two records we saw in TWDDD 1x3, ultimately derives from the Latin word for "heart", or "cor/cord". I would call them synonymous symbols in this context.

So when we saw TWO records in the episode, on a symbolical level you could say we saw TWO hearts.

Or, you could say we saw "one one" heart...?

The etymology of the word "record" isn't the only reason this episode made me think of Beth's necklace. Right before the scene with Daryl admiring the Sacred Heart Basilica, we saw Isabelle grab an old photo of Laurent's mother Lily. She said "Laurent has never seen her face", the implication being that she wanted something for Laurent to remember his mother by.

As you can see from the etymology screenshot above, the words "heart" and "remember" are connected through etymology. The Latin word for "heart" is "cor/cord", and it evolved through "recordari", which means "remember", to the word "record" that we use today. Tptb had Beth say "I can't remember the last time I heard a record" in Slabtown. "Record" and "remember" are both linked through etymology, and the Latin word for "heart" is at the core of it. Tptb wanted us to know that.

Now take a look at Lily's hands...

...heart-hands, while standing under the Eiffell Tower on her 16th birthday.

Then, fast forward to present day, 12 years into the apocolypse. Young Laurent finds himself at a sexy underground nightclub with Daryl and a nun, and he notices the necklace around singer (another musical reference) Anna Valery's neck.

He tells her the story about his mother celebrating her birthday at the Eiffel Tower. She gifts him her necklace, saying it's something to remember his mother by.

Laurent's mother won't be coming back. She died giving birth to him, reanimated and was subsequently put down. The symbolism we see around her however, it still applies.

As @angelthefirst1 explained last year, the Eiffel Tower was a radio tower, meaning it is Sirius symbolism. Daryl mentioned the word "radio" in every second sentence in the episode (also Sirius symbolism). He was all about getting "home", via the "north" (North Star symbolism).

And the tower had had its tip knocked off by a helicopter. A possible reference to Beth at Grady. Took a hit to the top, but still standing?

There was a "star" reference in the scene at the cemetary... (Sirius and North Star symbolism)

And lastly, remember the reference to Saint Ignatius from Slabtown? How it's a Sirius reference because it means "to ignite", as in "set on fire"? And how it is related to the "record" symbolism?

That's Sirius symbolism.

Please tell me more about Buck sold his life for Eddie

This is super angst idea I had already in summer but it's so hard to write because it's MCD(for a little while):

Eddie dies at the start of the fic (time-line start of 5s, like 5x4-5) and Buck has to try to navigate his life without his love of his life and being Chris guardian, feeling so so awful without Eddie and literally having only a chance to say "I love you" right before Eddie dies. So Buck is living a month like that and eventually snaps and thinks it would be better if he would die and how he want to change places with Eddie and universe interfere and comes to him with an offer : Eddie will survive the accident, but Buck has only a year to make Eddie say "I love you", and Buck can't be the one to say it first. If Eddie never says it Buck dies after a year. And well year pass by(all 5b and 6a happening and Buck ofc help with Eddie's breakdown), Buck thinks Eddie would never tell him that because well, it's him and he is ready to die. Lightning happening and Buck is almost dead when Eddie gives him CPR screaming "I love you". Universe is happy but it still needs to give Buck coma because he should understand some things. Buck comes back and he is suprised and tries to live again after he was ready to die and ofc not letting Eddie slip from him because even without remembering Eddie confessing he KNOWS Eddie did it. Happy end !

little snippet:

Eddie is … gone. Buck still can't believe it. He lays on the couch in Diaz's house and hopes and prays to hear Eddie`s snoring from his bedroom. But it will never happen again. Because Eddie is gone. 

Eddie died. He died because Buck wasn't fast enough to react on this fucking car to warn Eddie or  to push him away. He died in Buck`s hands asking Buck to take care of Chris and himself.

Every time, when Buck closes his eyes, he sees this scene again and again. They clear the road to go to the station, Buck makes a joke, the next moment he hears the screeching of tires and a strong impact of the body on the car. 

Eddie died on the spot from his injuries. He died quickly within a few minutes. The worst minutes of Buck's life. He couldn't do anything, Hen couldn't do anything. Buck just held the love of his life in his hands and watched the life go out of his body. At least he had time to tell Eddie about his feelings before Eddie's eyes closed, never to open again.
