◆ Elemental Skill: Surfshark Wavebreaker
◆ Mualani enters a surfing stance, and can move on land, water and liquid Phlogiston swiftly. While in this state, Mualani applies "Marked as Prey" to opponents upon coming into contact with them and gains Wave Momentum. In this state, Mualani's Normal Attacks will be converted to Sharky's Bites, and consumes Wave Momentum to increase the DMG dealt by Sharky's Bites. When she has 3 stacks of Wave Momentum, when Sharky's Bite hits an opponent, she will fire Shark Missiles at nearby opponents Marked as Prey.

◆ Elemental Burst: Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord
◆ Unleashes the power of the Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw. Ajaw will unleash his Dragon Breath at intervals, dealing AoE Dendro DMG.
4-Star Character "Mottled Gold Yet Unsmelted" Kachina (Geo)

III. New Domain
Domain of Forgery: Ancient Watchtower
◇ Legend has it that in ancient times, the colossal beasts that roamed the land had a civilization of their own. After exploring the entirety of the land and surrounding sea, they built these structures in an attempt to cast their gaze upon the even wider world beyond. ◆ Challenge the Domain to obtain Weapon Ascension Materials.
Domain of Mastery: Blazing Ruins
◇ In that era, when people had yet to attain true mastery of the flames, there were sages in all corners of the world who pondered the fire and sought to fathom its mysteries. It is said that these ruins are all that is left of what was once a ring-shaped ceremonial site. Here, these sages attempted to perfect the rituals required to transform phlogiston. Among the heroes who later followed the mighty one into the belly of the volcano, there were several who once trained in this place.

Later, even before they were used to resist common enemies, these powers were employed as weapons in conflicts between the tribes. Disheartened by this state of affairs, the Sage of the Stolen Flame withdrew from the world, vanishing from the pages of many tales. Devoid of their original purpose, these empty trial grounds were left behind, along with all those stories that came to be forgotten...

VI. New Enemies
Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant
◇ A Qucusaurus whose extraordinary form is a result of being unable to withstand the great power it has been granted.
It will fly into the air during combat and enter the "Golden Flame" energy-gathering form, creating a shield around itself and launching a Flamewind Feather towards the ground that summons a flamewind. If you cannot destroy the Flamewind Feather before the Qucusaurus dives down into it, the creature will use a Phlogiston Current to return to the skies. This will persist until it is exhausted and returns to its original form.
Located at Basin of Unnumbered Flames
Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King
◇ A powerful Yumkasaurus that has experienced numerous impressive battles.
It will collect Flamegranates during combat and spit them out as bombs. However, if you can use Pyro to ignite the Flamegranates before the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King can swallow them, who knows what might happen...
Located at Tequemecan Valley
Wayob Manifestation
"Rock-Cavernous Wayob Manifestation," "Flow-Inverted Wayob Manifestation," and "Foliar-Swift Wayob Manifestation"
◇ The Wayob worshipped by the various tribes of Natlan manifest themselves in the form of these obsidian totems.
In battle, the Wayob Manifestation will deploy its Arena: Moment of Trial, creating a shield for itself and absorbing the Elemental Energy of all characters in the Arena. Characters in the Arena deal greatly increased DMG. If the shield is broken before the Arena expires, they will also regain a large amount of Energy. However, if they fail to break the shield, the Manifestation will generate a barrier based on the value of the remaining Elemental Shield.
Secret Source Automaton: Hunter-Seeker
"Secret Source Automaton: Hunter-Seeker"
◇ An ancient mechanical creation that wanders Natlan to this day, though its function is not known.
When characters enter and maintain the Nightsoul's Blessing state, the Secret Source Automaton: Hunter-Seeker will start progressing through its Adaptive Countermeasures. Once those are complete, the Hunter-Seeker will unleash its special cluster laser. Still, risk and opportunity go hand-in-hand, so perhaps you might take this opportunity to deal immense damage to it...
Avatars of Lava
"Fluid Avatar of Lava" and "Eroding Avatar of Lava"
◇ A strange monster that must continually absorb heat to stay in an active state.
However, it seems to damage itself should it absorb too much. After you use Pyro attacks to cause it to fully enter an Overburn state, it will rapidly disintegrate.

𝒲𝐻𝒪𝒟ℛ𝒜𝒩𝒦𝐼𝒯? KFC‧₊˚❀༉‧₊˚: A Shitpost Of the Whodrankit? DEMO by @brynn-lear
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Content warnings: Shitpost :3
DOWNLOAD THE GAME HERE (Available on PC, Linux, Mac, Android, and Web Browser!)
Link to better quality cutscenes because I had to really compress them to save on storage y'know
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately for you, thanks to the shenanigans of eminent domain, you have been left without a house. However, luckily for you, local bourgeois Senator Sunday has offered you his home. Seeing little choice in the matter, you take up his offer...
However, in the corner of your eye, a Colonel stands, and you can't help but wonder what he wants from you...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is this?
This is a mod/fangame of HSR fangame Whodrankit? demo by @brynn-lear! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go play it first!!! And after that THEN you can come play this one!
No I mean what is this specifically you know
This mod is a shitpost hypothetical of a scenario where you can agree to Sunday's offer. Included is: 2 endings (Depending if you are nice to customer service people or not lol) ~30k words 7 (joke) endings Bad jokes Bad and disappointing story because I felt obligated to make some sort of plot even though none of it really works but hey I put in all of the jokes I wanted so there's a silver lining at least
How is this connected to the OG WDI? demo?
This is mostly its own thing; the only things that are referenced from WDI itself in this game is the general plot (minus the mystery, bc Idk what any of that shit's about) and well, the assets and stuff. This has absolutely no connection to WDI itself and is NOT canon---Brynn, the OG dev, had no real involvement in the development of this mod beyond making the base game which provided the base assets and original premise this mod is derived from.
Was this the other big project/sunday fic you were talking about
Yes! I started work on this in late June and worked on it on and off for a few months.
why
I wanted to punch Whodrankit?! Sunday and then made this
I come to your for yandere fanfic not shitposts
L bozo
What are the credits?
Credits are in the Readme doc attached to the game zip file; and also follow all of the credits from the OG Whodrankit? plus some more stuff. I acknowledge this game is violating all manner of copyright but I'm already writing fanfic and this'll probably only get 60 notes or something so I'm sure it'll be fine. Pls don't D**A me random big company.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
(BROWSER AND ANDROID VERSION NOW AVALIABLE) I do not plan on making a new WDI? mod; this mod it of itself just spiraled out of control. Though, if there's enough interest, I might release updates for the KFC mod if there is enough interest. Maybe as a Follower Milestone thing or if this gets a decent amount of interaction lol. Still, please do not expect updates or new WDI? mods from me, or request any whatsoever. New WDI? KFC! content will be entirely at my own discretion unless I state otherwise (as mentioned earlier if I choose to make WDI? KFC! related content a follower milestone, for example). But I'm always open to discussing it bc shitposts deserve to be shit on 🔥

Heart Toy mayor update continuation
So now onto the other two parts
The album builder is used to build albums for the joi suite later the joi suite can only use the albums built here so its a pre requisite to build albums for later useI
mage Fetching from Image Boards: Fetch random images using tags from popular image boards: Danborou, R34, Realborou, The Great Image Board, and e621. Input your desired tags, separated by spaces, and press the button to fetch images. If the image cannot be found or if the HTTP request fails, an error will be displayed, and the fetch button must be pressed again to retry.
Invalid JSON Errors: If an invalid JSON error occurs, it typically means no image was found for the given tag on the selected site. Try fetching from another site or use a different tag. Album
Management: Create new albums by inputting an album name and saving images directly to them. If no album name is provided, images are saved to the root of the app's storage (counted as an album).
Image Selection from Local Storage: Pick images from your phone's local storage using the file picker. Save them directly to an album or create a new album.
Direct URL Saving: If you have the direct URL to an image, input it and save the image to your selected album. The process is easier on Windows, but somewhat difficult on Android. Album Deletion: Delete selected albums, but requires multiple clicks if the folder is not empty.
File Organization and Limitations: The app uses Android's file system for album management, which can involve some manual navigation (copying and pasting files into albums using the file picker). The app remembers the last location when accessing files via the file picker, making it easier to pick from specific folders. on pc this is much easier as the file explorer can access the persistent storage and copy images with control c control v

Hiii how do you get those wide pics of lnds? Is there a pc version of the game?
(≧∇≦)ノ Hi there Anon!
And I WISH there was a PC version! 😭 I'm actually running a PC Android Emulator - MuMu Player 12 to play the game and capture the wide shots!
I'll put the method out here for others that are curious too and want to take their own pics :3 ⤵⤵
Mainly for Windows PC:
Firstly, is to grab a emulator! one that works with your PC. (Personally I have had issues with LD Player and Bluestacks u-u so I ended up with MuMu Player 12. But others might have issues with MMP12 and use LDPlayer instead. So it really depends!)
Download the game, of course! And also this other app called "Screen Orientation Control" by OHMAE Ryosuke on the Play Store (this app will force the game to take the landscape pics)
Next is to ensure your emulator display settings are wide enough. For the Extra Wide ones, I used these custom values! (refer to image below the list)
And then, you'll want to make sure to fire up the Screen orientation app, and select the landscape option
Now, fire up the game and use the in-game camera and snap away! (Don't worry, the game will look not much different from usual at this point, but the key is in the camera snaps!)
Finally, save your the pictures from the game album into Local, and you got yourself all the wide wide pics~
Tumblr media
You can also do similar steps for your Android phones! Just need to skip step 3, since phones are limited to their actual device resolutions u-u
And big apologies for Apple users... I have 0 clues on that front 🥺

Browser with Free VPN: Why Opera GX Is a Gamer’s Best Friend
What Is Opera GX?
Opera GX is a special version of the Opera browser designed specifically for gamers. It includes unique features such as:
CPU, RAM, and network limiters
RGB customization
Twitch and Discord integrations
And of course, a built-in free VPN
Unlike many free VPN extensions, Opera GX offers a native VPN that is easy to activate and doesn’t require extra installations.
1. Built-In Free VPN: Privacy Without the Price
One of the standout features of Opera GX is its completely free VPN, built right into the browser. No registration, no bandwidth limits, and no hidden fees.
Key advantages:
Mask your IP address for more secure browsing
Bypass geo-blocks for websites or game-related content
Use public Wi-Fi safely, especially when gaming on a laptop
This VPN is perfect for casual protection — great for when you don’t need a full system-wide VPN but still want to browse or download safely.
2. Optimized for Gaming
Opera GX isn’t just about looks — it’s packed with performance tools to enhance your gaming experience:
GX Control: Limit how much RAM or CPU the browser can use, so your games run smoother
Network limiter: Prevent background tabs from using up bandwidth during online play
GX Cleaner: Clean your cache and temp files to keep everything running fast
All these features are accessible with just a few clicks and can make a noticeable difference in multitasking while gaming.
3. Built-in Integrations for Gamers
Opera GX understands the gamer lifestyle — it includes Twitch, Discord, and even YouTube Music integrations directly in the sidebar. No need to switch tabs or open extra apps.
You also get:
Gaming news feeds curated for your region
GX Corner: Stay updated on game deals, releases, and free games
Sound effects and custom themes for an immersive experience
4. Cross-Platform and Easy to Use
Tumblr media
Opera GX is available on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. This means you can enjoy the same privacy and performance features whether you’re on a gaming PC, laptop, or mobile device.
Sync your bookmarks, tabs, and VPN settings across devices effortlessly.
5. Is Opera GX’s Free VPN Enough?
Tumblr media
While Opera GX’s VPN is excellent for basic privacy and unblocking, it only applies to browser traffic — not your entire system or gaming apps.
Use it for:
Downloading games or patches safely
Accessing region-locked sites or offers
Casual browsing and streaming
Not ideal for:
Protecting against DDoS in multiplayer games
Encrypting traffic outside the browser (e.g., Steam, Riot, etc.)
For advanced security, consider pairing Opera GX with a premium VPN for full-device protection.
Final Verdict
Opera GX is more than just a stylish browser — it’s a true ally for gamers. With a built-in free VPN, resource controls, and gamer-centric tools, it combines privacy, performance, and personality like no other browser.
If you’re looking for a browser with free VPN that’s designed with gamers in mind, Opera GX is the clear winner.

I have heard you like detectives... I have a sorta old game to recommend, then... (Sorta as in the fact that I don't think it's old, but other people in the fandom consider it old. I don't know how they do, it's only a 2016? 2017? game. I am actually unsure when it came out, but that's fine.)
Tis called Detroit: Become Human, and one of the characters that you play as is an android detective---who actually ends up hunting down the other two characters you play as. It's one of those games where there's multiple different storylines happening at once that come together in the end.
It's a lot of fun, and if you have a PlayStation---I remember you mentioning before that you play on console, but I don't think you specified which console---it's a great game to play. I have played it multiple times, typically once every time winter break rolls around, and I never get bored of it, especially because there's a lot of different endings you can get depending on what choices you make.
(It's also on Steam, but there's not a whole lot of good reviews for it when it comes to working on PC. The game has a lot of reaction-related actions in the fast-paced scenes, and whatever controls PC has makes it difficult. I personally wouldn't know because I haven't played it on PC, but that's just what I've read about it.)
Anyway, excuse my babbling. If you end up playing it, enjoy the detective character! His name is Connor and he's a fandom favorite. Everyone loves him. :D
IVE HEARD OF IT :] i started watching a playthrough i dont remember from who and i dont think its the game for me tbh but thank you for the reccomendation!!

How to mirror iPhone to PC in Windows 11?
Mirroring your iPhone to a Windows 11 PC isn’t as straightforward as mirroring an Android device, but you can do it using third-party apps or workarounds. Here are the best methods:
Method 1: Use AirPlay (If Supported)
Some Windows 11 PCs with AirPlay receiver support (like certain Intel-based systems) can receive iPhone screen mirroring directly:
Ensure your PC and iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network.、
Ensure your PC and iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
On your iPhone, open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right on newer models).
Tap Screen Mirroring.
If your PC appears in the list, select it.
Enter the AirPlay code if prompted.
Note: Most Windows PCs don’t natively support AirPlay, so this may not work unless you have an AirPlay-compatible app installed.
Method 2: Use a Third-Party App (Recommended)
Since Windows doesn’t natively support iPhone mirroring, you’ll need a third-party tool. Here are the best options:
Option A: LonelyScreen (Paid)
Download & install LonelyScreen on your PC.
Open the app and note the server name (e.g., “LonelyScreen”).
On your iPhone, open Control Center → Screen Mirroring.
Select the LonelyScreen server.
Your iPhone screen should now appear on your PC.
Option B: ApowerMirror (Free & Paid)
Install ApowerMirror on both your PC and iPhone.
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi.
On your iPhone, open ApowerMirror and tap “M” (Mirror).
Select your PC from the list.
Your iPhone screen will appear on your PC.
Option C: Reflector 4 (Paid)
Download Reflector 4 on your PC.
Open the app and note the device name.
On your iPhone, go to Control Center → Screen Mirroring.
Select your PC (Reflector) from the list.
The iPhone screen will mirror to your PC.
Method 3: Use a Wired Connection (5KPlayer)
If Wi-Fi mirroring is laggy, try a USB connection with 5KPlayer:
Install 5KPlayer on your PC.
Connect your iPhone via USB and trust the PC.
Open 5KPlayer, go to AirPlay → USB Connection.
On your iPhone, enable Screen Mirroring and select 5KPlayer.
Method 4: Use OBS Studio (Advanced, Requires Mac)
If you have a Mac, you can use OBS Studio with AirPlay and then stream to your PC:
On your Mac, enable AirPlay Receiver in System Settings → Sharing.
Mirror your iPhone to the Mac.
Use OBS Studio to capture the Mac screen.
Stream the OBS output to your Windows PC using NDI Tools or RTMP.
Which Method is Best?
For Wireless Mirroring: Use ApowerMirror or Reflector 4.
For Wired Mirroring: Use 5KPlayer with USB.
If You Have AirPlay Support: Try native Screen Mirroring.
If  you still do not have Windows 10/11, You can get it from our store keyingo.com

So I made an app for PROTO. Written in Kotlin and runs on Android.
Next, I want to upgrade it with a controller mode. It should work so so I simply plug a wired xbox controller into my phone with a USB OTG adaptor… and bam, the phone does all the complex wireless communication and is a battery. Meaning that besides the controller, you only need the app and… any phone. Which anyone is rather likely to have Done.
Now THAT is convenient!
( Warning, the rest of the post turned into... a few rants. ) Why Android? Well I dislike Android less than IOS
So it is it better to be crawling in front of the alter of "We are making the apocalypse happen" Google than "5 Chinese child workers died while you read this" Apple?
Not much…
I really should which over to a better open source Linux distribution… But I do not have the willpower to research which one... So on Android I stay.
Kotlin is meant to be "Java, but better/more modern/More functional programming style" (Everyone realized a few years back that the 100% Object oriented programming paradigme is stupid as hell. And we already knew that about the functional programming paradigme. The best is a mix of everything, each used when it is the best option.) And for the most part, it succeeds. Java/Kotlin compiles its code down to "bytecode", which is essentially assembler but for the Java virtual machine. The virtual machine then runs the program. Like how javascript have the browser run it instead of compiling it to the specific machine your want it to run on… It makes them easy to port…
Except in the case of Kotlin on Android... there is not a snowflakes chance in hell that you can take your entire codebase and just run it on another linux distribution, Windows or IOS…
So... you do it for the performance right? The upside of compiling directly to the machine is that it does not waste power on middle management layers… This is why C and C++ are so fast!
Except… Android is… Clunky… It relies on design ideas that require EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM AND APP ON YOUR PHONE to behave nicely (Lots of "This system only works if every single app uses it sparingly and do not screw each-other over" paradigms .). And many distributions from Motorola like mine for example comes with software YOUR ARE NOT ALLOWED TO UNINSTALL... meaning that software on your phone is ALWAYS behaving badly. Because not a single person actually owns an Android phone. You own a brick of electronics that is worthless without its OS, and google does not sell that to you or even gift it to you. You are renting it for free, forever. Same with Motorola which added a few extra modifications onto Googles Android and then gave it to me.
That way, google does not have to give any rights to its costumers. So I cannot completely control what my phone does. Because it is not my phone. It is Googles phone.
That I am allowed to use. By the good graces of our corporate god emperors
"Moose stares blankly into space trying to stop being permanently angry at hoe everyone is choosing to run the world"
… Ok that turned dark… Anywho. TLDR There is a better option for 95% of apps (Which is "A GUI that interfaces with a database") "Just write a single HTML document with internal CSS and Javascript" Usually simpler, MUCH easier and smaller… And now your app works on any computer with a browser. Meaning all of them…
I made a GUI for my parents recently that works exactly like that. Soo this post:
It was frankly a mistake of me to learn Kotlin… Even more so since It is a… awful language… Clearly good ideas then ruined by marketing department people yelling "SUPPORT EVERYTHING! AND USE ALL THE BUZZWORD TECHNOLOGY! Like… If your language FORCES you to use exceptions for normal runtime behavior "Stares at CancellationException"... dear god that is horrible...
Made EVEN WORSE by being a really complicated way to re-invent the GOTO expression… You know... The thing every programmer is taught will eat your feet if you ever think about using it because it is SO dangerous, and SO bad form to use it? Yeah. It is that, hidden is a COMPLEATLY WRONG WAY to use exceptions…
goodie… I swear to Christ, every page or two of my Kotlin notes have me ranting how I learned how something works, and that it is terrible... Blaaa. But anyway now that I know it, I try to keep it fresh in my mind and use it from time to time. Might as well. It IS possible to run certain things more effective than a web page, and you can work much more directly with the file system. It is... hard-ish to get a webpage to "load" a file automatically... But believe me, it is good that this is the case.
Anywho. How does the app work and what is the next version going to do?
PROTO is meant to be a platform I test OTHER systems on, so he is optimized for simplicity. So how you control him is sending a HTTP 1.1 message of type Text/Plain… (This is a VERY fancy sounding way of saying "A string" in network speak). The string is 6 comma separated numbers. Linear movement XYZ and angular movement XYZ.
The app is simply 5 buttons that each sends a HTTP PUT request with fixed values. Specifically 0.5/-0.5 meter/second linear (Drive back or forward) 0.2/-0.2 radians/second angular (Turn right or turn left) Or all 0 for stop
(Yes, I just formatted normal text as code to make it more readable... I think I might be more infected by programming so much than I thought...)
Aaaaaanywho. That must be enough ranting. Time to make the app

Metal Bringer launches March 12 - Gematsu
Tumblr media
Roguelite action game Metal Bringer will launch for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on March 12 for $19.99, publisher PLAYISM and developer Alphawing announced. It will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language support. An updated version of the PC demo is also available.
Here is an overview of the game, via PLAYISM:
■ About the Game
About
Metal Bringer is the second game in the Bringer series, and this time, the setting is completely different—in this game, you fight in a sci-fi world with androids and giant robots in horde-based combat that’s even more satisfying than the last game all while enjoying an in-depth character customization system.
Key Features
-Highly Customizable Player Characters and Arms – Build and control android soldiers called “Labor,” or have them pilot giant machines called “Arms.” Each and every Labor and Arms you build is highly customizable. You can change the color and appearance of their features, or swap out parts to change their fighting styles.
-Effortlessly Wipe Out Hordes of Enemies – Labor can be strengthened by installing different types of apps. App disks can be obtained by defeating enemies, but you lose all installed apps when you fall in battle. However, by analyzing an app’s data at a shop, you can use it when you customize your next Labor, allowing you to perform better each run until you can freely trample all over your opponents with ease.
-Obtain Enemy Arms Parts on the Go – Even the most powerful Arms will eventually wear down, but when that happens, you can use Arms parts left behind by the enemy. What’s more, you can analyze the blueprints of powerful Arms parts over the course of the game, which unlocks various customization options. Find out what kind of gear suits you best to build the ideal mech.
-Ray Tracing and Ever-Changing Music – This game uses the same retro art style as Samurai Bringer, and just like Samurai Bringer, it also implements a real time pixel art generating system, and will also feature the newest raytracing technology for beautifully lit environments. The music too is made with the newest technology, as it is played in real time and changes according to how your fights are playing out.
-All-Star Art Team – The protagonist Suria and the keyart were designed by Suzuhito Yasuda, and on the writing team, we have Sami Shinosaki on board! The pixel art portraits for Suria are drawn by illustrator kutsuwa.
Suzuhito Yasuda – Illustrator, manga artist, and character designer for multiple popular games and media, such as Durarara!! and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. Creator of the ongoing manga series Bootsleg and Yozakura Quartet (serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius).
Sami Shinosaki – Novelist. Known for the novelizations of the Armored Core and Fire Emblem series.
■ About the New Demo
When we released the first Metal Bringer demo back in October 2024 for the Steam Next Fest, it received a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam. Ever since, we’ve improved and polished the demo based on user feedback, and this new demo has been overhauled to provide an even better experience. Whether you’ve already played the old demo, or if this is your first time hearing of it, please give the new demo a try, and we hope you’ll enjoy it! Note: As we will continue to improve the full game based on feedback received from the demo, demo progress will not be saved. Demo save data will not carry over to the full game.
Improved Tutorial – The tutorials have been expanded, and we’ve adjusted the timing of when tutorials are displayed relative to player progression, making it easier to understand the game’s system as you play. Gameplay tutorials can also be accessed at any time by opening the Control Guide from the pause menu.
Balancing Changes – We’ve adjusted various aspects of the gameplay such as the difficulty curve and the player character’s initial parameters, as well as optimized the lock-on systems and default input config. This should make the game easier to play from the get-go even with your character’s initially weak abilities.
User Interface Changes – We’ve changed the user interface of the Labor and Arms assembly menu, making it possible for players to compare the specs of weapons and Arms Gear while assembling a new unit. We have also changed the on-screen map and indicators for easier viewing.
New Story Elements – The demo only contains a small part of the story, but we have added a large number of story elements to the demo, including conversations with enemy Labor and events that reveal more about the game’s world. We hope this will allow players to learn more about the world of Metal Bringer and have a more immersive experience.
Miscellaneous Changes – We’ve also made other small improvements to many aspects of the game, such as improving the shop system, adding the ability to withdraw D-Chips in the field, improving the map functionality, and adding new apps and OS tuning options. Please try out the demo to see what it has to offer!
Demo-Exclusive Modes
Newbie – Power up and customize your Labor with apps as you learn the basic game mechanics and play through the beginning of the story. Your Labor will start out weak, but keep growing stronger to defeat a boss within the time limit!
Extreme – Use Labor and Arms that have already been strengthened to a certain extent to take on mid-game battles. Choose whatever kind of Labor, weapon, and Arms you like to overpower the boss!
Extreme Mode is unlocked from the title screen after you watch the opening scene and roll out on an investigation for the first time in Newbie Mode.

heyyy I'm new to digital art, would you mind sharing some tips regarding programs and tutorials and etc? also on how to turn a real life piece into a beautiful and clean digital piece... really love your art
oh good luck with your art journey! my experience with digital art is pretty dated (as in a decade + levels dated) and i might be too out of touch to give beginner tips but regardless, allow me to attempt
Programs: it would help to know which hardware you have for digital but ill put down some i have experience in 1. Clip Studio Paint Pro - PC/Android/ipad/everywhere i think? unfortunately they betrayed humankind and its now a subscription everywhere but on PC. i bought a one-time license years years years ago on sale and its probably the best available on my end. I also got it on subscription on android so i can sync works between my PC and tablet. its very flexible in a way that you can draw with it in the most basic way single layer sketches or whatever but they have so many features and keep adding more.
2. procreate - ipad only never been an apple user but my friend is, and he's been a procreate user forever. he recently tried CSP on ipad though and he still claims he likes procreate better for ease of use and compatibility with tablet ergonomics and apple pen
3. medibang paint - pc/android/ipad
free forever. and out of all the free programs i recommended my other digital art newbie friend this is what he liked best.
4. adobe photoshop - dont even look at this the only reason i have one is im leeching off company license. its still unfortunately the industry standard tho but CSP is much cheaper and has the same controls and most of the basic functions 5. Paint Tool SAI - my first art program but i haven't tried it again. honestly still think this has the best brush flexibility and pen pressure control ----- As for tutorials, i find digital art has such a steep and high skill ceiling and its a challenge im still tackling and probably will forever tackle haha. I'm trying to osmosis painting techniques from splash art painters from League of Legends who most of them post complete timelapses (my favorite being Bo Chen) where you can study not just their techniques but like, art directions that make their pieces striking. Anyway, I also promised a friend I would make a simple coloring tutorial so maybe after inktober hustle, I would look for a piece there I'd use for the guide.
---- Traditional to digital is never a satisfactory process to me but if you can, invest on a scanner. I use an epson v39, had it for years.
Tumblr media
scanned vs edited. the goal is to at least get the white of the paper as white as possible and the blacks the blackest, without whitewashing/burning the rest of the colors. Level correction function is your best friend here and most art programs have that.
Tumblr media
Then i just clean dust and errors and slide the contrasts around until it looks as close to the original piece
If you have a decent phone camera, you can get away just posting instagram aesthetic pics with materials framing it or smth and just edit as usual. natural light tends to be a lot more forgiving than the harsh light of scanners anyway.
Tumblr media
Anyway I hope this helps and have fun learning!

Will the pc beta remain playable after the 16th ? If not how much time would there be to the full release ?
The Sky PC demo is currently still available! ("We've decided to extend the demo beyond Steam Next Fest...")
If you or a loved one is a beta player for pc, you will not have to worry, as beta testing is 24/7 thing but your sky beta accounts are very different than your live accounts to be warned.
The Demo uses live; Beta uses beta.
We currently do NOT have a stated date officially for when sky will be out.
Tumblr media
As quoted for PC demo time-scale above, this tells us that it is likely being worked on heavily due to all the feedback from both live and beta. There has been no noticeable date sent out yet by TGC, and I suspect it may take at least another week or two before we get anything close. (It's very likely to happen around mid nov-early dec due to how active they seem to be about promoting it- but that is a very hopeful guess...)
PC development for sky (especially keyboard) has been through a lot, for many years, It was often that players would assume it was right around the corner after Android release- but was stated to be difficult due to keyboard controls not working as well with sky at the time.
If anything at most, there's a chance Sky will be released 7 seasons after Playstation release, following the additional season between each release on a new device. But if we're lucky, it will be only one more season of wait time~!

What is Jailbreaking : Pros and Cons
Tumblr media
Jailbreaking lets you install non-official software on a locked device. By jailbreaking, the device owner can access the OS root and all features. It’s called jailbreaking because it removes perceived restrictions.
What is jailbreaking? Most people refer to jailbreaking the iPhone, the most “locked down” mobile device. Early iPhones had no app store and fewer iOS options. The first iPhone was only available on AT&T in the US, so users needed a jailbroken iPhone for other carriers.
Learn if iPhone jailbreaking is worth it and how to fix a jailbroken iPhone in this video:
Apple’s ‘walled garden’ software has always contrasted with Android’s customization. Many jailbreakers want Android-like iOS. Jailbreaking lets users install unapproved apps and customize the interface.
Since its inception, jailbreaking has involved adapting phone and game console codes. It can mean installing custom mobile software or removing movie DRM. It usually refers to Apple products. The iPad and iPod Touch can be jailbroken.
Jailbreaking is sometimes confused with “cracking” (software) and “rooting” (phones). Rooting removes manufacturer protections to install alternative mobile operating systems, like a jailbreak. Many people jailbreak Amazon Firesticks, Roku streaming boxes, and Nintendo Switches to run media software and emulated games instead of the built-in apps.
A jailbroken iPhone or iPad can use the App Store without affecting its core features. Jailbroken devices download apps Apple rejected or use jailbreaking features from independent app stores. After jailbreaking iOS devices, Cydia, a storefront, is most popular.
Hacking forums and sites offer free jailbreak codes to promote unrestricted device use. Although technical knowledge is helpful, most jailbreaks include full instructions and desktop tools to apply the new code.
Sometimes jailbreaking is “tethered” or “untethered”:
Tethered jailbreaks require an on iOS device and computer. Jailbreaking the iPhone requires a computer and software. Untethered jailbreaks : Jailbreaks without computers. Everything needed to jailbreak iPhone is on it. Booting off a computer doesn’t jailbreak it. Since iPhone apps have OS access, jailbreaking is less popular. Apple publicly opposes jailbreaking, so it has fixed jailbreak vulnerabilities in hardware and software, making many iOS versions hard to jailbreak.
Is jailbreaking safe? Phone jailbreaking is legal but risky. Online criminals can hack jailbroken phones.
Jailbreaking your phone abandons Apple security. Side-loaded apps are unsafe in Apple’s App Store because it doesn’t screen them. Jailbreaking your phone disables iOS updates, including security updates, leaving you vulnerable to new threats.
Apple prohibits jailbreaking iOS and warns users of risks, including:
Security holes Stability issues Possible freezes, crashes Shorter battery life Apple discourages iPhone and iOS device jailbreaking. iPhone viruses are rare and usually caused by jailbreaking. Jailbreaking voids your warranty, so fix phone issues.
You should also consider phone ownership and content. Does your boss own the phone? Your work email linked? Your data and company are at risk from malware. Your company is vulnerable to cyberattacks from jailbroken phones.
Companies that give employees mobile devices usually protect company data. Locking down phones to allow certain features, updating devices and apps, and installing a mobile device agent to detect jailbroken phones are examples.
Pros and cons of jailbreaking Jailbreak benefits Increased device control Apple aims for a unified design. If that’s too restrictive, jailbreak your phone to add icons, wallpapers, and menus. Instead of Apple or anyone else, you become full device administrator. Install screensavers or icons on your iPhone home screen. Jailbreaking allows you to connect your iPad to your PC and control what you see and do by allowing file system access and device communication.
Install and use unauthorized apps Apple removes App Store apps for security. Jailbreaking installs non-App Store apps. The most popular jailbroken phone storefront, Cydia, lets you install games and networking apps. Also banned from Apple’s app store are retro gaming emulators, which let you play older computer games for free. However, Cydia provides them free.
Remove pre-installed apps You can’t change or delete iOS’s default apps like Apple Watch, Weather, Games Center, etc. Non-users dislike these apps’ memory usage. Replace Apple’s default apps with third-party ones with jailbreaking. Siri can use Google Maps instead of Apple Maps for directions.
Extra anti-theft features Some jailbreakers say it boosts anti-theft. Find My iPhone doesn’t work in airplane mode, off, or offline. The jailbreak app iCaughtU claims to outperform Find My iPhone. The front-facing camera emails the owner a photo of a thief who enters the wrong passcode.
Cons of jailbreaking Stop auto-updates Apple will stop automatic updates. Each iOS version requires the jailbreaking community’s hack. Since jailbreaking each iOS version takes time, you can’t update your jailbroken phone until the latest update is jailbroken. Major updates may make jailbreaking difficult.
Problem updating software Several unauthorized modifications have rendered iPhones inoperable after iOS updates.
Voiding phone warranty The iOS end-user software license agreement prohibits unauthorized iOS modifications. Unauthorized software may prevent Apple from servicing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If your jailbroken device breaks, Apple may deny repairs.
Shorter battery life Hacked software drains iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch batteries faster.
Your phone could brick Bricked phones cannot boot, respond to input, or make calls. Jailbreaking does not brick the phone, but it poses risks.
Content or services may disappear Due to the loss of iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Pay, Weather, and Stocks, jailbreaking a phone for more content can backfire. Third-party apps using Apple Push Notification Service have had trouble receiving notifications or received notifications from hacked devices. Push services like iCloud and Exchange have server synchronization issues. Third-party providers may block jailbroken devices.
Your phone may crash more Your jailbroken iPhone or iPad may crash more. Jailbroken apps can access features and APIs Apple-approved apps cannot, so they may not be tested. The device may crash frequently, freeze built-in and third-party apps, and lose data.
Unreliable voice and data Jailbreaking can cause dropped calls, unreliable data, and inaccurate location data.
Data breaches Hackers accessed 225,000 jailbreakers’ iCloud accounts. Security vulnerabilities in jailbreaking allowed hackers to hack devices.
Security can be compromised iOS is one of the most secure mobile operating systems because it’s closed to protect your data and system. Jailbreaking your phone increases hackers’ chances of stealing data, damaging it, attacking your network, or installing malware, spyware, or viruses.
Security risks of jailbreaking Security risks arise from jailbreaking phones. Jailbreak gives you more device control, but apps get more control. These apps requesting root access pose the greatest security risks. Malware can gain root access to all data.
Jailbreaking bypasses Apple’s “walled garden”. Because jailbroken phones bypass Apple’s app vetting, viruses and malware are more likely. Jailbreaking allows free app and game piracy. This means you trust app developers over Apple.
Jailbroken iPhones can compromise bank account, password, and social media data. This risk was highlighted by KeyRaider, which stole 225,000 Apple IDs and thousands of certificates, private keys, and purchasing receipts. The victims reported abnormal app purchases and ransomware-locked phones.
Jailbroken Malware and bugs can crash iPhones and disable important features. Smartphones raise mobile crime risk. You must monitor new threats and scams and install comprehensive mobile security.

Whether you’re a cinema buff, a gaming enthusiast, or someone with unique streaming preferences, we have categorized the best options for every taste. Our mission is to guide you not only to the best Android TV box but also to the ideal companion tailored perfectly to your entertainment aspirations.
1.NVIDIA Shield TV Pro
Tumblr media
NVIDIA’s Shield TV has reigned as the undisputed king of Android TV boxes, and the Shield TV Pro takes this legacy to new heights. Despite its age, the Tegra X1+ processor delivers exceptional performance, driving AI-enhanced 4K upscaling that genuinely enhances HD picture clarity and color vibrancy on a 4K display. This powerhouse chip also adeptly handles real-time transcoding, allowing seamless streaming of various file formats from a NAS drive. With support for Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos, and DTS-X surround sound, it solidifies its reputation as an AV powerhouse.
Running on NVIDIA’s customized Google TV OS, you have access to the full array of software on the Google Play store. Plex comes pre-installed, and if you wish to expand beyond the usual suspects like Netflix and Amazon Prime, adding Kodi is a breeze. While the onboard 16GB storage might feel limiting, a simple USB 3.0 external drive upgrade resolves this concern.
Gaming is another forte of the Shield TV Pro. The Tegra X1+ not only handles a plethora of major titles from the Google Play store but also directly streams games from Nvidia’s GeForce Now service. This ingenious feature lets you access your PC games library on your TV, provided the service supports the titles. For those seeking a more streamlined setup, the new Shield TV “stick” might be appealing, as it mirrors the software and wields the same Tegra X1+ chip. Nevertheless, the Shield TV Pro embodies the quintessential Android TV experience.
Pros:
Reliable performance
Excellent remote
Wide variety of native 4K content
Supports Nvidia’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming
Cons:
AI upscaling can be overly aggressive
Controller not included
2.Magabox MG4
Tumblr media
The Magabox-MG4 stands as the latest iteration in the Magabox series, pushing the boundaries of convenience and performance. Packed with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, it transforms into a multimedia powerhouse. Its integrated voice command feature ushers in a superior streaming experience, redefining the market. Connect it to your TV and the internet, and witness your standard TV evolve into a smart wonder.
This exceptionally user-friendly Android TV box redefines its predecessor, the MG4, with a revamped design and interface. While its hardware remains steadfast, the revamped design and interface, coupled with superior streaming and DVR capabilities, make it an irresistible choice for streaming enthusiasts. Constant system updates ensure access to the latest features and security enhancements, cementing its place as a dynamic entertainment companion.
Remarkably, the Magabox MG4 remains budget-friendly, maintaining the same price point as the MG4. This commitment to affordability ensures that users can access its advanced streaming capabilities without breaking the bank, making it an even more compelling choice for budget-conscious consumers.
Pros:
User-friendly interface
Built-in apps with voice search support
Stable streaming, especially for sports gaming
Maintains the same price as the previous version
Cons:
Batteries not included in the package
3.Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd generation)
Tumblr media
The base-level Fire TV Stick offers respectable functionality but may leave some users craving more due to its modest 1GB of RAM, quad-core CPU, and limited 8GB of storage. In terms of both hardware and software, the third-generation Fire Stick closely mirrors its predecessor. The primary distinction lies in its slightly updated remote, featuring a Channel Guide button and four app shortcuts for convenient access to region-specific apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix. Impressively, it supports various HDR standards, including Dolby Atmos, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, making it a solid choice for modern HDR 4K televisions.
For ardent Kodi enthusiasts and those seeking an extra performance boost, investing an additional £10 in the Fire TV Stick 4K Max might be worthwhile. This upgraded version boasts a faster CPU, more RAM, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, along with robust 4K video support and compatibility with Dolby Vision HDR.
Pros:
Good hardware
Excellent HD antenna
Stunning 4K resolution
Cons:
Non-expandable storage space
4.MINIX NEO U9-H
Tumblr media
The MINIX NEO U9-H 64-bit Media Hub for Android delivers swift video playback at an impressive 60fps, enhancing your viewing experience with seamless and razor-sharp 4K visuals. What’s more, it excels in picture quality, thanks to comprehensive HDR10 compatibility.
Leveraging HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, this media hub broadens the color spectrum, rendering whites brighter and blacks deeper, thereby intensifying contrast for a lifelike and vibrant visual journey. All of these features come in an affordable package, priced under $50 / £50 / AUD$80, making it a budget-friendly choice for value-conscious users.
Pros:
Excellent streaming performance
Versatile
Micro SD slot
Cons:
Lacks a USB 3.0 port
5.Google Chromecast with Google TV (4K)
Tumblr media
The Chromecast with Google TV 4K undoubtedly stands among the finest media streaming devices available, a viewpoint we firmly endorse. However, when compared to Android TV boxes, it gracefully concedes the top spot to the NVIDIA Shield TV, known for delivering superior performance across the board. Nevertheless, Google’s Chromecast with Google TV 4K offers an exceptional value proposition, priced at just $49.99.
It’s important to note that when we mention “Google TV,” we are referring to Google’s revamped user interface, while the Chromecast with Google TV continues to operate on the robust Android TV platform, providing access to a comprehensive array of streaming services. Furthermore, it comes complete with Google’s popular Chromecast remote right in the box.
Pros
Affordable price tag
Google TV interface with Google Assistant
dedicated compact remote
Cons
Limited storage
No AV1 codec support
In conclusion, the world of Android TV boxes has evolved to redefine how we experience home entertainment. From the powerhouse NVIDIA Shield TV Pro to the user-friendly Magabox MG4, and the budget-friendly Amazon Fire TV Stick to the vivid visual experiences offered by the MINIX NEO U9-H and the value-packed Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K, there’s a streaming companion tailored to every preference and budget. These devices not only grant access to an array of streaming services but also open doors to gaming thrills and immersive content. The future of streaming is here, and it’s a world of limitless possibilities, all at your fingertips. Whether you seek performance, affordability, or versatility, these Android TV boxes are your gateway to a dynamic and personalized entertainment journey.

To note, I played through the whole of Little Nightmares with a keyboard and mouse. I'm unsure if it was the keyboard controls, my bad average gaming skills or the game, but I found the controls terribly janky to work with and I found myself dying very stupidly often. Which led to some funny moments, but it did become frustrating at some points. So that's a short note before I get into things so you can see from my POV why I might sound off-putting towards the game. Another thing I might complain about is the camera angles in some areas were a little odd, especially when you crawl from one room to another. But once I got used to it, I like to think I overcame it.
Anyways, the game begins in The Prison, where it seems that other small children are kept in cages, where it is shadowed by a long-armed figure, who is hinted at throughout this chapter.
Tumblr media
The first few puzzles in this chapter I found to be confusing, then again I am not the best at puzzles so I did struggle with solutions all throughout this playthrough. A lot of the puzzles didn't have obvious solutions, especially in the darker areas where things might not be as highlighted or as out of place with the environment. There are climbing hints throughout some of the chapters shown by little black handprints and smears, but they seem to be inconsistent.
The first bigger puzzle which I was really feeling dumb after was the electrified gates. I got through the first gate after shutting the power off and was trying to figure out how to get past the second one in the toy room by finding a switch or something. Pretty sure I was stuck for about 10 minutes before figuring out you can go back to the first toilet room and then you just have to keep running after switching off the switch as it turns off both gates, not just the first one - whoops. I also think I did encounter a glitch here where I did switch off the gates, but the first one was still electrified and I died touching it - whoops x2.
During this chapter, there is a side room that shows a camera that hints at a later chapter, which I think is a nice touch but also shows a darker side that someone will always be watching wherever little Six is going.
There are two puzzles that involve a lit-up eye security light that causes our protagonist (and previous escapees) to turn into statues. I enjoyed this concept. I liked how in the second puzzle involving this there is a wheelie bin that moves with the swaying of the barge, to remind you that you are on one still as you might have gotten used to the constantly swaying camera at this point.
When walking into the room with the sleeping children, I did encounter a weird glitch when the door slammed me back out of the room, but then respawned me back into the room before the long-armed man arrived. Not a big deal, just thought it was funny.
Once you escape The Prison, The Lair is the next chapter where you soon find yourself captured by The Janitor (who I didn't know was a janitor until I looked it up and I thought he was some sort of deli man or butcher because what sort of janitor just chops meat?) after a few short puzzles and you must escape the cage he has trapped you in to continue your adventure.
Since The Janitor is blind, any running or creaking floorboards will alert him. I've always enjoyed the idea of blinded characters who can only hear you to find you (such as the Moth Priests from Oblivion) so I did enjoy The Janitor sections a lot. It did take me a few times to figure out that the creaking floorboards did actually trigger him as I thought it was just ambience, but besides that, I enjoyed the first encounter with this character.
Tumblr media
After escaping The Janitor in the first section you're dropped into a room full of shoes, and as you shuffle your way from one suitcase platform to another, what has been dubbed the 'Shoe Monster' tries to catch you. Once you pass this area it is never seen again, so just a random encounter, which some might say adds to the creepy. This is another area though where I found the climbing to be odd as trying to get onto the platforms was a struggle and I kept getting caught a few times.
Tumblr media
A little bit after the shoe room, you'll spot the room you were originally captured in which I thought was a nice detail that Six is circling around the area and then ends up in an elevator after a short chase with The Janitor. Once out of the elevators, you end up in what seems to be a room with nothing but a box of toys. I was stuck here for a little bit trying to find a way out until I pushed the box around a bit and just fell through the floorboard. I felt like there was zero hinting that that was the solution, but again, I am bad at puzzles.
After another few run-ins with the janitor, trying to create distractions to get by him and continue. You have one last fight with him as you try to escape The Lair through an elevator. A cage stops the elevator doors from fully shutting and as you try to avoid his arms that stick through the gap to capture you, you must yank at the cage bars to finally shut the door and chop off the janitor's arms.
Had another dumb moment during this fight and I thought I was just an 'avoid for a certain amount of time' thing. I was waiting for the cage to collapse and got caught about 3 times before I tried to actually interact with the cage and saw that the bars could be pulled out. Again, zero indication this needed to happen, but I didn't dwell on it too much.
Then began the start of The Kitchen chapter where you encounter a chef character, chopping away at meat in a kitchen. You might have already seen this character already if you looked at the cameras back in The Lair. You make your way to the end of the kitchen to discover a locked door. You then make your way up a shelf and into the kitchen rafters where you end up in a sort of living quarters and discover that there is a second chef asleep in a shared room where you also find a key for the locked door. The Twin Chefs are the bosses you must avoid in this chapter now.
Tumblr media
At this point, you may take notice that the people you're up against are actually wearing some sort of skin mask or suits as you can catch glimpses of The Twin Chefs lifting their masks to itch their real faces underneath. This might get you thinking about the lore of the world a bit more and its darker appearances.
Tumblr media
Avoiding The Twin Chefs throughout this chapter is easy enough honestly. You might get caught a few times trying to set up the distractions or if they start looking under the tables you're hiding under, but you'd always know when they've discovered you by their monkey-like screeches before chasing you down. In the pot-washing area of The Kitchen, you must switch a lever to change the direction of the meat hooks flow, you then climb the top of the central stack of plates and grab on. Once you've been shaken off the hook the first time, a short chase ensues. I struggled at this chase a few times, as the twin that smashes through the door, knocks over items which were thrown about randomly each time it happens and sometimes hit me which in turn stopped or slowed my running. Then my timing for the final hook catch was off a few times, which caused me to fall to my death - whoops x3
After being shaken off your final hook grab, you then begin Chapter 4 with a glimpse of giant cogs churning and hearing seagulls calling. You gain your first glimpse of the outside of the barge, with its guests piling onto the barge and into The Guest Area.
Tumblr media
You then reenter the ship, catching closer-up views of The Guests and the mysterious woman you dreamed about at the beginning of the game. You then find yourself in what seems to be Japanese-styled restaurants or eating areas. With the guests stuffing their faces with mostly raw meats (we love salmonella). You are seen by one of the guests as you go through the rooms, and a small chase begins. The first time I encountered this guest, I was under his table. He threw the table and then proceeded to body slam me, which I then laughed about for 5 minutes before I could proceed to play the game - whoops x4.
Anyways, you then get away and then have to make your way through the top of a table full of The Guests, avoiding their grubby hands. More mini-chases occur with The Guests before you find yourself in living quarters, confronted again by one of The Chef Twins. Smashing the mirror allows you access to the rafters to make your way to the elevator. There are not many puzzles in this chapter, more of avoiding, running and hiding.
Tumblr media
Once up the elevator and make your way into the next room, sliding paper screen doors begin to open and what I think is the most terrifying thing I have ever encountered, a mob of The Guests begin to chase you in one big scrambling pile. You get away nearly by swinging over a gap.
You encounter the mysterious lady again getting into an elevator, and once she has left, you enter the same elevator up to the final chapter.
The Lady's Quarters is the final area in the game. I find it one of the most unsettling areas, the ticking clocks, the mysterious singing and just the overall eerie quietness. You follow the sound of the singing upstairs and make your way into a room where The Lady is seen singing in front of a smashed mirror. You sneak your way past her and into a bedroom, where a white vase you can smash is on a bedside table. As soon as you smash this vase to get the key inside, the singing stops. The strong silence really begins to set in.
Tumblr media
You head downstairs again to unlock the door, and upon entering, the door slams behind you and a chase with The Lady begins. Once escaped, you find yourself in a room full of the mannequins you have been seeing throughout the area, throwing you off and making you anxious if one of them is her. You run across this room and into a side room with the only unbroken mirror you have seen in the area so far on top of a drawer. Grabbing this mirror and going back into the last room, you glimpse The Lady in the centre of the room and as you approach, she disappears and the final boss begins.
The Lady is easy to defeat, running towards the lights and pointing the mirror in her direction. What really gets you during this fight is your nerves. Trying to figure out where she is coming from next, scrambling to pick up the mirror after dropping it. It was intense. Hands were very sweaty afterwards. The Lady's ghostly face that appears during this battle is really both beautiful and terrifying.
Once defeated, Six makes her way out of the barge.
Tumblr media
Throughout the story, you are subjected to your own questioning about Six's true powers. As her hunger pangs lead her to kill a rat, gnome and The Lady then proceeds to absorb some sort of life force from The Guests as she walks out of the barge. This is never really answered in the game as the story concludes with Six shown sitting outside of the barge entrance.
Throughout all the chapters, there are lamps and candles you light, which I thought were being used as checkpoints since a save symbol popped up once you lit them, but apparently, they're just collectables, so I was very confused when I died and ended up nowhere near a lamp, especially if I closed the game and came back later to a point further back than I was.
Art Style/Music:
Little Nightmares is a real mixed bag when it comes to the art directive. I've seen inspiration or comparisons to LIMBO, INSIDE, Coraline and Spirited Away. I personally feel some Alice in Wonder Land and Roald Dahl vibes in some areas, especially with the character designs. I loved the insight through the concept art you can unlock as you go through the game.
The environments really make you feel like a small trapped child just trying to escape. The pan-outs to show off the surroundings really let you take in the vast expansion of The Maw and what else it could have had to offer if our protagonist went a different route.
The soundtrack is similar throughout most of the game, but all the ambient noises and the sounds from characters really make the game unsettling, it doesn't have to rely on the soundtrack too much. The sound design is honestly the real gold in this game. The rumbling and creaking you hear can be felt all throughout the barge. Even the little things such as The Janitor's teeth grinding or Six's coat getting water dripped on it. The developers really went all out with the game's ambience and small sound details.
The Little Nightmares soundtrack can be found on Spotify.
Final Comments:
To start, apologies for all the complaining and WAY too long yappin' review.
Anyways, compared to other games that came out in 2017, Little Nightmares felt a little unpolished. I’ll possibly replay the game again with a controller and see if I go a bit better with that, but I feel like a game should be accessible to many forms of play and I just felt DUMB playing the game with these controls at some points, then again, could be more me being actually bad at games than the game. I did watch a couple of different playthroughs on YouTube to see if I was the only one or not. I did see a couple of people struggling in the same areas and having the same thought processes as me, which made me feel a bit better about things, but no one really commented on the controls themselves.
I’ve also seen a few people have conversations online if Little Nightmares is considered an Indie game or not. I personally, very lightly, wouldn’t. I would consider an indie game to be developed by less than 10 people, maybe 15 people max. But Tarsier Studios had about 20+ working on the game at the time, so I would personally hold them to a higher standard, but I also kinda don’t so much since this would be considered their first (I think) fully developed game. And now with about 77 employed (and hiring currently according to their website – so check that out if you’re into it!) I wouldn’t consider them Indie now and wouldn’t consider Little Nightmares II (review soonish?) to be an Indie game either.
Continuing on, the pop-up prompts like to sprint or that you can swing on objects didn't pop up for me the first times they were available [which I saw a few other YouTube play-throughs experience and comment on] only after I failed a few times, which I thought was odd. The game was trying not the be hand-holdy I guess, but I feel like it hindered my experience when first playing the game.
Besides the jank controls, I enjoyed the art directive. I enjoy the disturbing-looking characters and the damp eeriness of the whole environment, even places that are meant to be homely. Knowing you’re on a boat throughout the whole game before you even see the outside of it really hits the helplessness vibes. The art style really makes this game more than anything.
Stroy-wise, you are left clueless throughout the whole thing besides just playing it. You know your goal is to escape, but how did you end up there in the first place? Why do people look the way they do? How do lighters that small exist? I'm going to say that its just all part of 'the vibes'. Being clueless and wandering around in a warped world.
Anyway, I would recommend this game if you enjoy creepy or unsettling directives with little story or if you enjoy puzzle and platformer games. I might not recommend it to people who aren't too familiar with the game and it might not be the best game for a first-time experience, but give it a go if you wish!
I haven't gotten around to playing the 'Secrets of the Maw' DLC yet, but I will soon and might update this to include that review also, or just make a separate post and link to the DLC review here.
Cheers,
The Average Gamer
