Whew look at you go! Had a small problem with aphids a lil while back, but after a whole lot of diligence they were banished. Still have some of the damaged leaves visible but look at all the healthy new growth!
You may be trying to take over my desk, but I couldn’t ask for a better art companion. The moss in the planter is happy with the frequent watering and shade, but the impatiens is trying to devoir the terrarium moss now too
My oxalis is thriving still, too. But it has its own space above me and isn’t trying to reach out and say hello as much.

Day 7 of Fighting Dystopia
I cleaned up my garden this morning. I now have six empty pots ready for my next gardening adventure and two new pothos propagations in repurposed glass soda bottles. Everything is pruned, watered, and cared for. I feel refreshed and fulfilled. Everything is thriving.
#its not really a garden persay#mostly 4 inch and smaller pots terracotta pots that ive collected from school events#and glass soda bottles#i have a rosemary hydroponics kit in a mason jar#an attempt at growing a potato from one that sprouted on the counter#and my pothos that i grew out of cutting from my aunts plant#the rest are succulents that i grew from propagations#im really proud of how well everything grows#so anyway...#the world can feel like its going to shit#so this is an exercise in making a difference where you can#appreciating what we have#and not catastrophising#inspired by the solar punk genre and building a new world from the community up#if anyone sees this feel free to join in#hopepunk#solarpunk#day x of fighting dystopia#positivity

me: *gets up at 6 am, take an hour in my ‘garden’ pruning and mulching and admiring, come back inside for my coffee wiping the sweat off my brow*
me: *vivid flashbacks to seeing my own mother do this half a million times as I was growing up*
me: oh no
#every time I see myself act like either one of my parents#I want to shrivel up and die#much like my tomato plants when I don’t wa- *gets shot*#in my defense. my ‘garden’ (six Costco planters I don’t have a yard come on)#has yielded one (1) carrot one (1) cucumber and one (1) nearly fully#grown beefsteak tomato#and each one was the most delicious veggie I’ve ever eaten#it’s insane how much sugar these veggies take up#from the soil#I think the reason why I have such low yield on my veggies is overcrowding and lack of nutrients#so my ass bought mulch#I have a second cucumber plant flowering now#as well as many many beefsteak and cherry tomatoes#two jalapeño plants (with three jalapeños between them)#and two bell pepper plants (both horribly deformed and tiny lmao)#and I am very very proud of them okay?#as previously mentioned using these SAME SEEDS every single one of my#plants died. save for 1 tomato plant. and one that I bought from a garden store#so this year we have made a lot of progress#next year companion plants appropriate distancing and pruning and MULCHING#when I can actually afford a house with a yard ya girl is gonna be GROWING VEGGIES!!!!

#toy pic post#undescribed#40gal#then dad dismissed how much fucking effort it took whether intentionally or not and i got so angry cos i already was having to#outsource reward chemicals or whatever the fuck to chocolate covered pretzels and a soda#and i was so overwhelmed from exhaustion and overstimulated to be fucking graciously regulating my emotional responses to him saying#Stupid Shit that i just got so angry i had to sleep#but i was. really determined. to manuafacture some kinda fucking reward. so i played viddygame until i fell asleep#bc that seemed like it would be better for my brain than straight up rage napping#anyway. i will. attempt the 90gal tomorrow. todayrrow. im going to. get up and get a snack and then brush my teeth and go to bed for real#bc i just cant stop fucking Horse Sleeping. i guess#so close#still much to do. i have to do the 90 and put the plants back on top of the 40 but its already so much quieter in here#which is good for me not being driven insane by. the sound of my failure to do a task.#shit i still need to dose fertilizer as well. i will try to do that before i go back to sleep#but i was too fucking angry to be thinking about Ratios of Liquid without exploding so its good i didnt attempt it earlier probably#anyway.POSTIVES: ITS CLEAN. THE KUHLIS CONSTANTLY SWIMMING UNDER THE ALGAE SCRUBBER#WAS A LITTLE ANNOYING AND INCONVENIENT BUT ALSO. CUTE AND ENDEARING. I LOVE THE STUPID NOODLE ANIMALS#i got a lot done today even if it wasnt all i wanted and many of the tasks were tiny. it got the big fucking task done that was hanging ove#over my head for weeks and making me feel intensely guilty. and now its so QUIET. like the 90 is still loud sure! but its just One of them#now!#the fucking palpable relief

I think someone put the brain of a mouse or maybe a squirrel inside my head at some point because all winter I was like “I crave nuts and seeds” and now that it’s getting warmer and brighter out my brain keeps going “it’s fruit time”
Like, modern transportation has made it possible to move many fruits all over the world (in theory) all the time! But the primal early plesiadapiform part of my brain is like “you must eat what is available this season”
#I was going to go with euarchonta or plesiadapiform brain but I think the early members of both of those groups were from a tropical#ecosystem. if I’m wrong though and either are from more seasonal environments I could change what I used#actually. wait. plesiadapis is from the late Paleocene. yes. but tropical plants have reproductive cycles too#do they generally vary by season or are they just doing it all at their own pace by species#I am from a very cold seasonal climate that gets hot af in summer but is pretty cold for a good five-ish months#not all equally cold#it’s bad for our environment if it doesn’t get cold as balls for a bit every winter#and we didn’t really get that this winter. but that’s not my point!#I mean to say I can’t remember how it works in tropical environments#if the plants just time their reproduction whenever in the year or if there are seasons for most plants at the same time#does that make sense? I’m using the primate-like-mammal. if it’s wrong then whatever#fuck it we ball#maybe I should have gone with a group further back in time but I couldn’t find climate info easily about things that far back and fuzzier#i am not the most familiar with primate evolution. especially early evolution of the group. I’m open to learning more#i just tend to fixate on certain other things like early mammals and horse and cat evolution#paleontology#emma posts#I like juice all year though#one day I want to try many varieties of fruits that I cannot access easily where I live because they can’t be shipped here#or they just aren’t as popular a variety on an industrial scale#maybe one day i will have a big greenhouse and i will be able to grow the banana varieties I want to try#I can see why some plant varieties aren’t grown on a large scale. some of these bitches are SUPPOSED to be able to grow in zone four but#they refuse to work with me! blueberries make sense. the soil here is nowhere near acidic enough and they would need to be in a pot or#whatever. ya know? but some plants just won’t! or I get them and then the weather here which would NORMALLY work is different that season

#im thinking about writing a minecraft au where sam is a horrible eldritch sculk entity pretending to be a human because he was lonely#like he literally is The Sculk Itself and sr boys use their communicators to turn on the “player nametag” function#a bit of magic which helps u see ur friends through walls and all that (magical realism minecraft styled)#and they find that his player nametag is above the ancient city all spawned wardens and sculk catalysts because its ALL him#he didnt even join their world properly he snuck in after one of them brought a sculk plant to the surface#and started rambling to it like how ppl talk to their plants to make em grow because they thought it looked nice and was a neat light sourc#and sam was touched to hear something that wasnt screaming from a sensor for once so he decided to drop in and then got super attached#i really wanna write eldritch sam and i really wanna write minecraft sculk shenanigans. multitasking

idk who needs to hear this but growing native plants is not hard at all, at all
#you could be starting seeds RIGHT NOW assuming your last frost date is some time in april or somethin#put the seeds in the fridge in moist sand or a moist paper towel#if its too late buy them from the fuckin store somewhere. or wait till next fall and toss em on the ground after mild tilling#throw some metal mesh of some sort over it to protect it from the rodents and BOOM. there ya go. the seeds are cheap asf too#its hard to kill a native plant. they naturally grow in that environment for a reason.#you can go a day or two without watering sometimes in summer and still be fine (depending on the plant ofc & if theyre potted)#idk its just. like. so easy. everyone could do it. everyone SHOULD do it.#in an apartment? get a window flower pot and plant some in there.#no excuses to not try and do the bare minimum. every piece of turf grass you see should fill you with violent rage to the point where#your body feels physically compelled to grow native plants in retaliation.#some you can even grow inside. i have some vine cuttings im growing inside rn that i started some time last year at the end of summer#from a wild plant outside. just look up how to grow it. watch the jankiest video you can find first.#i trust the guy with the scuffed set up thats shakily holding his phone scooping home-made dirt into a red solo cup over the#pristinely filmed shots of a garden and a man all dressed up nice#i mean idk hes prolly got some good advice too i just trust the other guy more ykno#give a fuck#literally tho this vine is so tall rn its touching my ceiling sdvvfsdhgdfs idk wtf imma do with it.#but i love it and its one of my favorite native plants and i LITERALLY grew it in a fuckin red solo cup.

I’ve been thinking abt one of my older oni colonies and decided to doodle my first three dupes in that save
#keese draws#oxygen not included#but yeah these guys were my main scientist digger and rancher respectively#this was one of my actual spaced out style saves so ofc I chose the cold asteroid still#it was painful opening this save again to look at their traits as it was basically my first longer attempt#let’s just say I had no idea what I was doing and ran out of power literally everywhere#might do a rescue attempt on this save tbh sounds like a fun challenge#but yeah I actually have characterizations for most of the dupes in this save in my head they’re like semi ocs to me#they’re the ones I like to imagine fumbling about post olivia entering sleep mode#cause there’d be such a harsh contrast in how they’d all react and move forwards#burt in particular would take it rly hard mostly because he’s the only scientist#so everyone ends up looking to him for answers and help and he just doesn’t know how to provide any of it#he had already spent so long feeling overworked and under appreciated so this wouldn’t help at all#quinn on the other hand is generally more optimistic as they have gone through a lot of rough shit and made it out on the other side#so they see this as an obstacle they’ll all overcome and grow stronger from#they’re also just very used to being suddenly forced to say goodbye to people for potentially forever#harold was almost relieved by the whole event because it lead to a lot less activity in the neural chip network#which is in fact a big source of panic for most of the dupes but harold pretty much exclusively goes to like 3 rooms so he’s not as effected#he also just doesn’t like the noise of the hundreds of commands that he can’t even follow#he just manages the plants and the pips and sometimes helps with the cooking#he honestly really likes the freedom of figuring out what to do without instruction#as the pip farm he manages is very. well let’s just say pips tend to starve in there a lot#yknow thankfully I did give these guys a bunch of phones so at least they’d be able to still know what’s up with eachother still#still an uncomfortable feeling loosing that connection that you’ve been relying on for years

AND they were growing near a patch of these wildflower weeds that have red stems to them. so I wonder if it's even poss#ble that maybe some of the red like.. got mixed in with the clovers somehow? a lot of the patches with a few red ones look spotty and unhea#thy so it could have been the sun or something. I dont know how plants work. I just thought it was really cool to find these one or two#special mutant clovers in huge patches of ohtwerise totally normal green clovers.. :0#image 3: look at these weird round fat baby carrot things... Rotund#image 4: laying out some fabrics for a costume just drafting them and seeing what looks okay in the pile and what doesnt etc.#thats my whole process is just 'throw things into a pile on the floor that look okay and match then put them on eventually' lol#image 5: MORE wii scores lol.. I think this is my best score on this one though. There's 10 little markers you have to select so getting 7#means I selected more than one per second.#image 6: I couldnt decide which type of muffins I wanted so I just made a batch of plain/vanilla batter and then added things to each littl#section to make multiple flavors without having to actually make a full batch or multiple batters lol. #Sel talks#dream journal#I'm pretty sure that's the trash I used#Anyway!#I can't remember the dobby of the dream too well#But for some reason I had 2 bibis (bibii?) But I end up picking both of them up and walking up to the bathroom mirror; like I'm filming a o#Something; saying like “wow! Your mom lets you have 2 bibis??” And I see myself in the mirror (strange!)#And I have a funny little stash growing (along w a weird mullet thing going)#I start thinking something like 'oh its growing in well!' And start to remember my grandma commenting on it? Implying I should shave it? Ca#Shouldn't have mustaches? And then thinking how ridiculous that was cause I really liked how it was looking? Or something?#I didn't really have any strong gender... connotations? To my facial hair?#It's especially strange cause I can't really remember a time where I've seen myself in a dream?#But besides that; I remember using the bathroom a lot. I think I was in some sort of class at one point? I think we were sharing plant#Stories? And I was worried cause I only had a dill plant and I didn't like dill all that much#I also remember putting off planing some herb plants until the end of my dream (right after the fun 2 bibis scene) where I really wanted to#Get that started? a moment of joy in days of tired darkness!!!
#i complain way too much here so sharing my triumphs <3#(taking a page from songbird because i want to be more like her)#getting home from work today i was able to get ALL of my chores done!!!#i loooved having my friend stay with me for a week i truly needed the break and she’s such a blessing <3#(we bought ‘soul sisters’ matching bracelets - hers gold and mine silver - and the statement couldn’t be more true 🥹)#but in that i let my room get VERY messy#and i was busing working yesterday and didn’t have time (literally cried on my way home because of how tired i was)#so i made it a goal to do everything tonight so tomorrow (my one day off) i may relax!#so i was able to clean my room; do two loads of laundry; wash my bedding; vacuum; water my plants; and tidy my bathroom!!#it may not sound like much but it was a MESS#also i did my nails cause they broke :(#so now they are VERY short (had to cut them) and i painted a few coats of clear nail polish so hopefully they won’t break#i have to get gas and get my oil changed and exchange some icecream tomorrow morning#but then i’m just gonna relax!!!#would like to change my themes but we shall see. i want to watch tv and read mostly#also i’m gonna stop in and book a hair appointment for next week!!#that’s right i’m gonna chop off my hair#it’s been years and i didn’t get it trimmed as it was growing out so i have lots of split and dead ends#and if i have to get it cut i may as well just go all the way yknow#i love having short hair and i’m lowkey excited#and i work 6 days after that but thankfully i booked myself for opening shifts which leaves my evenings free to myself which i really love
