😶 + a character you've been wanting to talk about lately
Let's go with Hughette from Triangle Strategy because I haven't talked about her at all!
I think she's probably a good cook. Since she's a hawk scout she's probably good with a bow, and so she's a decent hunter too. Hunters have to know how to best cook and season their food, so it'll be more pleasant to eat.
Taking it further, she's probably cooked a feast even better than the staff in the Glenbrook castle kitchen since it's got that personal homemade touch. It's a real treat for Roland (and maybe Serenoa and company if they're visiting) when Hughette decides to share her cooking.
The last time she made decent roast game meat (and trimmings), it was Roland's last birthday before the game's current events.
[image id: Several doodles of characters from Triangle Strategy. There are two of Maxwell: in one he looks mildly upset and in the other he looks like he's looking fondly at something. There are two sketches of Benedict. In one he looks devious/smug, in another he looks attentive (and Anna is hiding behind his shoulder). There are two doodles of Hughette looking baffled, and then cringing. It's captioned, "Watching Roland challenge Avlora (already defeated) to a death match" and "not paid enough for this." There are two sketches of both Avlora and Cordelia. In one they're looking over their shoulders with angry/disappointed looks on their faces. In another, Avlora is tightly hugging Cordelia, who is faintly saying "can't... breathe..." There is another sketch of Avlora separately looking generally surly, and another with Cordelia separately, where she looks livid and has the note, "I'm worth a DAMN sight more than the man in front of me." /end id]
Hughette: I know you have suffered many hardships, but pray...do not let yourself succumb to despair. Me, our comrades, your people... All of us are eagerly awaiting the era of peace our new king will bring.
do i want an ice mage or do i want an archer.......
like politically it makes sense to strengthen ties with aesfrost wrt the upcoming nuptials + creating stronger ties with the in laws but also. FUCK them aesfrost siblings. absolutely RANCID vibes. but ignoring hyzante... it would seem like favoring one side too much but it makes SENSE to do so.
like in terms of gameplay...... ice mage is it but the STORY. THE PLOT!!!!!!!
I had what is quite possibly the dumbest fucking victory in triangle strategy and it all literally stemmed from the AI breaking and the super powerful enemy general sitting in range of my hawk archer with her back turned and just letting me chip her to death. There was a lot of finagling and sacrifices but I won.
Spoiler:
What's also funny is it was the chapter where we are protecting Prince Roland and we have the option of using the contraptions to set a good majority of the terrain on fire and burn down a lot of the houses as well and I somehow manage to win without even needing that and the game actually addresses the fact that you were able to win without resorting to it
You know how you talk about Corentin inventing refrigeration in Norzelia peacetime?
I could see him working with Geela and Medina to preserve their healing potions and ingredients.
Oooh, I love that idea! Actually there's all sorts of medical applications that "ice which never melts" could be used for--ironic since Corentin initially flees Hyzante specifically so he's not forced to research in the medical center. It's a shame the game never gave us more interactions between characters, because there's not way Medina and Corentin didn't know each other, even if just in passing, and I think Corentin would have respected Medina's passion for and dedication to saving people, enough to be moved to help her even if he was officially a "magic researcher" now.
Speaking of Geela though, she probably tries to rope Corentin (and probably Medina at one point too) into teaching at her school. Considering that "researcher of x subject" often goes hand-in-hand with "professor at school on x subject", I could see Corentin getting talked into the position fairly quickly as well. Geela probably ropes so many people into helping out at her school, if only to give guest lectures from time to time. She probably talks Giovanna into a teaching position, only to have Giovanna spend most of her time doing field research and either not teaching her classes or dragging them along with her for weeks-long field trips. I could also see her getting Jens and Julio to come in for smithing and finances respectively, and any combination of the older characters for history lectures from "people who actually lived it" (Geela does seem to love listening to stories from the older characters).
