Dr. Eggman's plans from taking over the world, but really, they were spied on by...

Neo Metal Sonic, to copy everyone's data to defeat Sonic...

Only to be defeated by Super Sonic with the help of Tails and Knuckles together showing him the real superpower of Teamwork!

Large white flakes lazily float down, veiling roads and roofs. They sail the wind, making the uneven even, piling high enough that snowdrifts were indistinguishable from blanketed park benches. In the midst of blinding white flew Charmy, joining the flakes as they danced in the wind; carefree and frolicsome as always. But he stops, the calm zephyr of the field growing fierce for a moment as something speeds by. Amber comes to squint to the bright cerulean in the distance– A gasp, “ Sonic! “ he cries out, an alarming tinge of helplessness in that small voice, but of course a cursory glance reveals nothing out of the ordinary, just a lone bee surrounded by endless white.

As he lands just before the other he realizes, huh, this feels kind of familiar…

“ Wait- you’re the funny looking Sonic! “ he gawks at the other for merely a second, attention zipping back to the crisis at hand. “ Anyway- you have to play with me, no one else will even step outside!! I’m gonna make a snowman so big stupid Vector and Espio can’t ignore it! But uhm… ”

He turns, pulling attention to the dozen poorly stacked homunculi one might call snowmen- if snowmen were two foot spheres littered in rocks.

“ You have to help me, please? “ palms claps, shaking between pleas, “ Please-please-please pleaaaaaase? “

This probably isnt the most original idea but screw it, ill say it anyways.

I imagine that Espio and Vector act- and sometimes are- annoyed by Charmy and his chaos. He's a hyper dude and a busy bee. (You may kill me in the comments I deserve it)

But the second Charmy is too quiet, isnt buzzing everywhere, and isn't yapping their ears off?

Oh. Oh they're panicking.

Full blown investigations take place, they're checking his temperature, Espio is pulling out his kunais, it all goes down. Cuz annoying they can deal with. Silent Charmy? Now that's terrifying. Cuz what or who the hell made him go mute? They're gonna find out and it ain't gonna be pretty.

Charmy’s eyes sparkled with joy, his little wings fluttering energetically with a delightful buzz before the child simply lowers hinself to the ground. Which means Shadow and him and came across each other by chance!

It was so good to see him again! Shadow's the coolest hedgehog he has ever met.

“We are lookin‘ for a meanie old possum! Y’see, Clutch is back and this grandpa told us he is tryin‘ to rebuild his empire but he managed to escape!“

Due to his eagerness, the little bee was speedrunning his words.

“He also has these meanie skunks with him - I was stingin' the blue one - but they are gone too! Usually they are all over the place and rhyming. Y'heard anythin' regardin' that?"

Moments before, Shadow had merely been minding his own business, wandering blindly as he often did when things felt as if they were getting a little too routine. A habit he'd picked up from Sonic, most likely. Or was it something they just happened to share?

Regardless of why he was there, he'd attacked the Badnik on impulse, barely even having time to register just who it was attacking until he was already staring disdainfully at its "corpse".

Fortunately, Shadow didn't have to look up to realize it was Charmy he'd saved. No one else had the slightly overwhelming combination of the buzz of his wings and the pitch of his voice. Unlike the last time they met up, he resisted the urge to flatten his ears.

"...I'm out here by chance." The hedgehog decided to admit, kicking the Badnik's remain aside with an air shoe and stepping closer. "What sort of clues are you looking for?"

One excited buzzbee, indeed. At least this time he wouldn't have to contend with Black Arms for "Top Secret Discs"...

"Go to Sleep" means "I Love You"

Okay so I'm obsessed with platonic forms of affection and also the joke about "kissing the homies goodnight" but like in an literal platonic way, and also love having Vector fully take on the Dad role. And as a college student I know the struggle of staying up way too late and needed to be forced to go to bed. So this is a little silly thing I wrote for the boys.

Espio blinked back his weariness as he stared at his glowing laptop screen and labored over how to finish this sentence. Just three more paragraphs to go, and he'd be finish with the first draft of the paper. Then he could go back, make a few rounds of edits and proofread, and he could actually maybe submit it. It was so close.

He'd been sitting in the mostly dark lounge, lit only by his and Charmy's computer screens and a singular lamp, for the last few hours, trying to type this out. His writing speed had significantly decreased as the night dragged on. The quality of his writing might also be decreasing, but his eyes were getting blurry and he couldn't focus enough to re-read anything. He stared at the flashing text cursor at the end of the last word he'd written.

Charmy, the only other person in the lounge, laughed loudly at whatever brainrot video he was watching at this point. Espio glanced up at the noise, blinking again as his eyes tried to adjust away from the light of the computer screen. Charmy laughed again; a prolonged, unhinged set of snickers that indicated he was verging on loopy from being tired. He pulled out his earbuds. "Espio, you-- you gotta see--!" His voice was lost in his fit of snorting laughter.

Espio shook his head. "You already showed me five videos. I need to finish up this paper."

"You're so lame." Charmy pouted as he put one earbud back in. His disappointment quickly disappeared as he started laughing at his video once again.

The door to the lounge burst open, and Vector poked his head in. He was already dressed for bed in a t-shirt and boxers, his eyelids drooping as he glared at them. "Guys, it's 1 am. What're ya doing?"

Charmy attempted to suppress his loopy laughter, which only succeeded in making him laugh more. "Watch-- snort-- watching YouTube," he finally got out.

Espio scoffed, only half-glancing up from his laptop. "At least I'm actually studying."

Vector rolled his eyes. "You've been studyin' all day. You can rest a little too, ya know."

"I have to finish this paper."

"When is it due?"

Espio had enough decency to feel a bit embarrassed. "A week from now?"

"FOR FREAKING SAKE, GO TO SLEEP, ESPIO!"

"It's almost done. Just let me finish it and I'll go to bed." Or at least, go sit in his bed and get his reading done. Maybe then he'd be enough ahead he could feel justified to actually relax...

Charmy piped in, "Yeah, and I'm keeping him company, so I should get to stay up too!"

"More like distracting me," Espio muttered under his breath as he went back to his laptop. He felt a twinge of guilt as the words left his mouth. He didn't really mean it. But Charmy didn't even seem to notice.

"No, you need sleep," Vector told Charmy. "You get all hyper and grumpy when you're tired."

"I'm not tired at all!" Charmy complained. As if on cue, he yawned.

Vector yawned in response, then growled under his breath. "Nope," he groaned, walking towards them. "That's it. C'mon, ya little brats."

Suddenly Espio was being lifted off the couch. A flash of panic hit him, but Vector simply picked him up and flung him over his shoulder. Like he weighed nothing. He grabbed Charmy under his other arm and marched them down the hall.

Charmy protested the indignity loudly. Espio craned his neck to see what Vector was doing with them. Vector stopped at Charmy's room first, kicking the door open with no regard to quiet hours and legit throwing Charmy onto his bed. "SLEEP," Vector ordered, chucking his bee plushie at him. He stomped over and kissed Charmy's forehead, like he was a little kid. Then he wheeled around and carried Espio to his room.

He was tall enough that he barely even had to hoist Espio up to dump him in his loft bed. Vector flung a blanket onto him.

Then he pulled Espio over to the edge of the bed and planted a kiss on the top of Espio's head.

Ummmmm...

What-- what was that? Heat rose to Espio's face. With Charmy he'd thought it was a joke. He did act like a kid sometimes. But Espio hadn't thought...

"Now get to sleep, punk," Vector said. His voice, as always, was gruff and growly. But there was a hint of... affection. He shut the lights out and closed the door.

Espio curled up under the blanket. His mind buzzed. As far as he could remember, he'd never had a goodnight kiss. His parents were not... affectionate people. And he'd certainly never expected one from Vector, of all people.

But it had seemed so natural. Was that what most parents were like? Did they playfully put their kids to bed, with roughhousing and teasing? Did they give their kids goodnight kisses?

Did those kids know how lucky they were?

No, this whole thinking was ridiculous. Vector was his RA. Just his RA. Yeah, sometimes he called him "Father," and Vector would called him "Son," but that was a joke. Surely Vector was just doing the whole thing "for the bit."

But... Curled up on his bed, Espio felt warm. Complete. Like his whole life, some part of his routine had been missing. And Vector had just put in the missing piece. It was ridiculous. But despite himself, there was a smile on his face.

It was strange. There was such a distinct difference between being sent to bed by his parents and sent to bed by Vector. Vector was louder and gruffer and more grouchy than his parents. His parents never yelled at him to go to bed. They said it with the same cold monotone they said everything else in.

And yet, he felt more warmth when Vector called him a brat or a punk than when his parents called him by his name.

It felt like...

It felt like, when Vector said the words "go to bed," he really meant...

"I love ya, kid."

Why bother to play dumb and act like you didn’t? If they don’t have enough toys then the little bee had to find his entertainment somehow - in that case, it was Espio‘s smoke bombs.

"Look!“ He throws and disappears. "I can see - " Repeats it. "Why you - " There goes another one. "Use them - " and goodbye to the next one.

Sonic opinions that may or may not be controversial

Sonic character design is at its worst when they try to make it as "Sonic-like" as possible, and at its best when it's at its most unconventional (i.e. Fang the Sniper, the Witchcarters, the Kukku Empire, the humans in Sonic Unleashed and Chronicles, SatAM and AOSTH characters, etc)

Infinite's maskless design is lame

Sally Acorn, Amy Rose, Princess Elise and Lanolin aren't the worst characters, you just want to hate female characters. There are way worse written characters and you choose those three to bash on

That said, Chris Thorndyke and Charmy Bee aren't annoying, you just hate children. Chris' unwilling to let Sonic go in the finale of Sonic X's season two wasn't a dick move, that's his character arc. And of course Charmy being loud, annoying and basically dooming the resistance by turning himself into a zombot to try and save someone makes sense. He's a god damn six year old

Ian Flynn trying to "simplify" Fang the Sniper takes away all that made him interesting, his weirdness and confusing design (he literally took away Fang's hybrid side and him being originated from the Special Zone. Blaze exists, why can't Fang be from another dimension too?)

Gemerl not having Emerl's personality isn't neither a betrayal nor a bad take on his character. In fact, it makes his contrast with Emerl and comparison to Omega and Metal Sonic better. Shard is not coming back guys. Cope

Sonic Forces should've been less focused on Classic Sonic and more on the Rookie. In fact, Shadow should've replaced Classic Sonic in the storyline

Sonic Colors is worse than Sonic 06 in terms of storyline and the DS version should've been the real deal

As fun and awesome and amazing as Sonadow is (totally not speaking from bias), making it non-canon is the best for everyone

Characters like Shadow and Omega shouldn't have a classic form, but it would be interesting to see other modern characters in classic form

Classic characters shouldn't be confined to the "classic universe". Archie's best parts were when classic and modern characters interacted (Mighty and the Werehog, Shadow and the Hooligans, Jet and Speedy)

The idea of the Babylon Rogues being associated to the Kukku Empire in the past IS an interesting concept. What isn't is the Kukku Empire being associated with the Babylon Garden. They should be their own villains

As goofy as Sonic Chronicles was, it wasn't a bad game at all

Western and eastern Sonic media should be treated with the same respect

Sonic characters acting immature shouldn't be a big deal. They are kids, no matter how many times you point out how they removed the ages at the Sonic Channel site. Amy Rose herself was at her best when she was an immature hotheaded girl

As much as I wish Silver was more serious at IDW, him acting excited and happy isn't bad either. He's healing from multiple broken futures

Silver and Blaze are better staying out as platonic. If Sonic and Shadow's tanabata references can be seen as platonic, then those two can two. That said, their relationship should still be seen as meaningful to both of them (perhaps more to Silver than to Blaze). Male and female friendships exist without it being instantly romantic

MORE. UNSEEN. CHARACTER. INTERACTIONS. PLEASE

Sonic Shuffle shouldn't be shafted just because of the weird gameplay and human-like characters. The Maginaryworld characters should make a comeback (ESPECIALLY with to the implications of the angel statue in Sonic CD's Wacky Workbench)

We need more truly irredeemable female villains (Surge doesn't count, I'm talking about characters like Witchcart, Lien-Da, Thunderbolt)

For the love of God, Sega. Bring Classic characters back

If you can give personality to Metal Sonic and Mecha Sonic II, you can give to the other robots (and no, making Tails Doll an eldritch horror doesn't count)

Hyper Sonic should come back. Maybe even make it the "third stage" to the Super Sonic and Super Sonic 2 duo

As good and amazing as Amy's everything was in Sonic the Comic, that shouldn't be the blueprint of her canon character. At max bring back her crossbow (and her girlfriend)

Tails Adventure is better taking place before Sonic and Tails meeting. If he was confident enough to follow Sonic and help him defeat Eggman's ass he should be confident enough to abolish the monarchy (last part is /hj lmao)

Tails Adventure mentioned, the Kukku Empire should make a comeback too. If Shadow can come back the Kukkus can. They weren't cntrl+alt+del from existence like Mephiles was y'know

We don't want to see the classic universe. We want to see classic CHARACTERS

SONIC THE TAROT Card Previews #5

Today's previews are for the Major Arcana's Tower, Star, Moon, and Sun! See their guidebook entries below, and check out our website for more and our storefront to preorder a copy!

16 - The Tower (Gerald Robotnik)

Grief utterly disfigured the merits of Eggman’s grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. The chaotic destruction inherent to The Tower led to Gerald planning genocide of all of Earth, uncaring of his remaining loved ones caught in the crossfire. Instead, losing Maria turned into a revelation of revenge that overrode any logic the kindly Gerald had left.

Before Maria’s death, however, Gerald had more altruistic traits as The Tower reversed. He worked tirelessly to find a cure for his granddaughter’s illness, even taking her up into space to delay its spread. Although he also made a questionable deal with Black Doom to complete Project SHADOW, Gerald’s fail-safes in the form of Shadow and the Eclipse Cannon ultimately thwarted the Black Arms’ initial conquest.

The Tower is pain personified, yet taking steps to lessen tragedy is not for naught.

17 - The Star (Cream the Rabbit and Cheese)

Cream the Rabbit and her Chao Cheese always look on the bright side of life as The Star. Incredibly friendly, they treat new acquaintances with kindness regardless of first impressions, becoming some of Blaze’s first friends in Sonic’s world. Cream’s positivity even extends to a spiritual level, virtuous enough to even reach the Reverie as a “conduit” by Eggman.

Cream’s naive fears become a flaw when The Star is reversed. Spooky places like Hang Castle are cripplingly frightening to her, and violence of any kind leads to her despairing about its purpose. However, these negative aspects of life let her value positive ones, such as teaching Emerl emotions so he can be more free-thinking and sentient.

The Star’s faith is inspiring to all so long as she staves off any hopelessness that crops up.

18 - The Moon (Emerl and Gemerl)

Formerly known as Emerl, Gemerl’s allegiance has passed through many hands as The Moon. Created in ancient times as an unstable, shapeshifting destroyer of civilization, he was programmed to always feel danger and anxiety toward others by Gerald. Both identities’ inability to control his subconscious from outside influence became ill-intended obstacles several times, such as during the Hyper Eggrobo incident.

These negative traits are ultimately quelled when The Moon is reversed. Sonic and friends’ companionship allowed Emerl to form a fun-loving personality, and even being reprogrammed by Eggman as Gemerl was not enough to snuff out this side of him. Now living with Cream and her mother, Gemerl has released his fear of his intended purpose and given himself a new one of protecting his family.

The Moon’s anxiousness makes him assume many forms, but the right people can allow him to be himself.

19 - The Sun (Charmy Bee)

Bubbly and energetic, Charmy Bee loves to find fun in every situation as The Sun. Always eager to volunteer himself for the Chaotix’s latest scheme, he values success and fame just as much as his boss Vector. Despite being polar opposites, Charmy nonetheless maintains enough confidence in himself to act responsibly while working alongside Espio on missions, such as during Dodon Pa’s Grand Prix.

Charmy’s youthful immaturity while The Sun is reversed becomes more grating than charming. During the Neo Metal Sonic incident, his unrealistic expectations for wealth from their “client” turned into him repeatedly stinging Eggman for seemingly not measuring up to that ideal. Furthermore, the Black Comet incident sees Charmy being relatively clueless about his goals despite his ego, and he only manages to break Shadow out of brainwashing by hitting the ARK’s computer while tantruming.

The Sun is positivity personified but his childishness often acts as an obstacle to goals.

Sonic Fan Character Guide: Thresholds

In the past, Concept: "Mobius" had a guide for creating Sonic fan characters, with certain rules and guidelines for one to follow in order for one's character to be made with originality and canon in mind. The intent was to curb all the recolors, "long-lost Echidnas", and "Ultimate Lifeforms" that were all the rage at the time.

In short, the less _____ the Hedgehogs and Coldsteels, the better.

Over the years, even the idea of such a guide has been considered to be ridiculous or even elitist, as most Sonic fans just want to be left alone to have fun making whatever they want, quality be damned. To a point, they're right, but working within the canon is possible. You just need to know what those limits are and, well, be creative.

Any schmuck can (and has) make a different colored hedgehog/fox/echidna with abilities better than the main cast in every way, but let me ask you...is that really a good thing? Or is it just you trying to be like your favorite character(s)?

I'd argue that working within what's already been established gives you a chance to be more creative and think of alternate ways to have your character stand out from the crowd. Yes, using different universes gives you some wiggle room, but our focus is going to be game canon, so if your character is part of that universe specifically, this is the guide for you. (No, we don't consider IDW Sonic to be canon.)

To start with this new guide, we need to establish said limitations first, beginning with what thresholds your character should not be reaching or surpassing. These limits must be respected in order for your character to be original.

Sonic the Hedgehog and Metal Sonic are THE fastest characters, as well as THE fastest Speed types. Shadow the Hedgehog is 2nd fastest and Miles "Tails" Prower is 3rd.

Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is THE smartest. Tails is 2nd smartest. Dodon Pa and Wave the Swallow are the smartest and best in their respective fields, only matched by Eggman and Tails, who are catching up rather quickly.

Knuckles the Echidna is THE strongest character, as well as THE strongest Power type, not to mention the fastest. Shadow is 2nd strongest, and THE strongest Speed type. Knuckles is also the LAST and ONLY living Mobian Echidna. Eggman is the weakest Power type.

Rouge the Bat is the strongest Flight type character with Charmy Bee and Cream the Rabbit tied for being - arguably - the weakest. Without his ESP, Silver the Hedgehog is the slowest Flight type. Tails is THE fastest Flight type.

Jet the Hawk, Wave, and Storm the Albatross are the ONLY Babylon Rogues. Jet and Sonic are THE fastest Extreme Gear riders, with the former being world-renowned for it.

In the current timeline, only Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze the Cat, Silver, and Trip the Sungazer have Super forms to date. Additionally, only Sonic & Knuckles have Hyper forms. Silver has yet to use his Super form in the current timeline.

The Chaotix consists of only the following: Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy. Knuckles and Mighty the Armadillo have loose associations with the Chaotix, and Ray the Flying Squirrel has nothing to do with them.

Shadow is THE ONE AND ONLY Ultimate Lifeform. There is no other.

The Guardian Units of the Nation (G.U.N.) do not allow just anyone to join; Like any other military organization, you must meet all the standard requirements and complete training.

Rouge is the governments' only known spy.

The entire cast is single and has been shown to be heterosexual. Only a few are actively looking for partners. Do not create your character(s) to change that or be their offspring.

The Chaos Emeralds are difficult to get a hold of, and are constantly changing hands. The Sol Emeralds are protected by Blaze for her use alone, as is the Master Emerald by and for Knuckles. There are no other known power sources/relics.

Chaos Drives are creations of Professor Gerald Robotnik and are now used by G.U.N. to power their military robots and other machines. They aren't easy to acquire, either.

If there is a criminal underworld, Fang the Hunter isn't really a part of it. Or at least, not a well known figure. On that note, Bean the Dynamite and Bark the Polar Bear aren't criminals, either.

While everyone in his era uses ESP, Silver is the only time traveler.

That's it!

This part of the fan character guide is subject to change as new facts are added to the lore with every game. Of course, if you don't want to use this guide, you don't have to. Gold is one of Dread's former crewmate when his just a young pirate.

Gold is similar to Charmy, but very hyper than him. He would find dangerous as fun and even toying with everything he sees. His a menace but his crew can handle him and discipline him if needed to even if they have to get harsh on him but Gold didn't even mind.

He can annoy anyone in seconds would play games and his favorite one is "Tag".

His the musiker of the crew and his music is beautiful, he can play mandolin, fife and pennywhistle.

But he didn't last long either and died at the age of 9..
