ugh being here in San Antonio has been hell. Elevation levels screwing with my head which I guess explains why I was messed up last year and thought it was just booze or something even on days I wasn't drinking. My BIL constantly insults me or is rude and makes me feel lesser than. It’s been stressful and triggered disorders that I had finally mostly overcome. I can tell he quietly dislikes me but won't outwardly state it. Understandable though. I don't like me either.
BUT on the positive side, I suppose maybe I needed this to get a break from my toxic parents and from the anxiety of money-related crap I’ve been dealing with all year. A break from one hell to deal with another kind of hell. I finally have some peace today. My sis' and BIL are out. They've been here for four days. I love and care about them and I am so glad they had days off, but I fear I'm being too much for them. Plus, I got really annoyed Saturday when BIL loudly said "SUN'S UP SO I'M UP" waking me up. I just don't want to be awake and don't see a point to being awake. We didn't even do anything that day. Not that I minded since it was a nice quiet day and it rained. I spent the day just watching videos on my phone. Anyways, I felt relieved not feeling stressed out being in their presence for a couple hours. They return back in an hour.
Today woke up with a bad headache that won't go away. Last night we went to my sis's own standup show that is located in a section of San Antonio that is on a hill meaning extremely high up. My ears kept hurting. I also made the mistake of trying a pumpkin spice martini. It contained milk and made me feel sick. Also I realized that I'll never make it in showbiz like my sis'. I don't have any friends and I have too much anxiety. I was in awe at her huge circle of comedian connections and the fact she hosts her own shows now every Monday night inviting other comedians to attend. That's amazing and I am proud of her. I wish I could obtain such things. I felt left out when I was the only one sitting in a corner as everyone chatted. I did attempt to socialize but I can tell no one really likes me so I just sat quietly and played Pokemon Go to pretend I wasn't there.
This weekend I get to go back home. Ugh, back to my dad banging at my door every freaking hour. I think I'm going to spend my time in the mornings heading to the gym. Today I tried taking the trash out and couldn't even lift the bag. It was a huge pain taking it down the stairs. There are no wheels so I could create a makeshift transportation device and I'm too tired to attempt creating anything so I just dragged it. LIFTING IT into the trashcan was also hell and hurt my back. I fell over. why. the sun was also stabbing at my skin. at least i cleaned/organized my section in the living room where I've been staying and snapped receipts for points and cleaned the kitchen. well anyways, here's a post.

I have finally. Finally. Made it to the end of work. I have tomorrow off. It will be over entirely to quickly. But it will be okay.
Today was an excellent day though. I slept okay. And when I woke up at 7, James said I could sleep a couple more minutes. But I got up and got ready. I had to change my top because the pants I wore were lower the. I thought and I didn't want skin out. So I was slightly frustrated but it was fine.
James took me to get breakfast. And then we were at the museum.
It was a lot of fun. It wasn't horribly busy, and I only gave one real tour but I would give a lot of single rooms and half tours. It was pretty constant actually. And I had a blast.
We had volunteers there today cleaning and repairing machines. I love talking to old men and making them my best friends so I would end up doing just that. They always love that I know about metal working and building. And having navy and union facts always helps. I had so many laughs today. My favorite guy was named Dale. And then there was another who told me when he was a teenager he would deliver logs to a copper refinery that they would burn to get the oxygen out of the casting process. Amazing.
I also just had excellent guests. One guy who looked like an actor I like. I got to brag about my mom, because she knew about dark shadows and I got to be like. Oh yeah that's my mom she's the coolest. And talk about my dad and construction. I always feel like that kind of thing gives me a little bit of clout? Makes people know I know.
I had some fun conversations with people for the farmers market too. I am trying to do a bit of outreach and finding new venders to apply and I was able to give info to two different people today! One who makes stained glass and one who makes perfumes and textiles. Super cool. And I just had lovely conversations with them and got to share all my fun facts and knowledge.
I also got to walk around showing the new security guard the musuem. He was a sweetheart and was really excited about the museum and I wanted him to feel super welcome. So I showed him all around and told him lots of things. He would buy himself a t-shirt later and I just thought that was so sweet.
I watched the desk for a bit so James could go get lunch. I am not super comfortable with the register but I sold one set of tickets. And James came back before I was off talking to people again.
I forgot to take a break. But I held myself together. For the last half hour of the day we had a dad and adult son come in who had been here yesterday but wanted to see some machines. So I quickly ran them around turning things on and telling my stories. They really seemed to love it and that was awesome. I think I did a great job today and that was just a really awesome feeling after yesterday not being my most ideal and successful program.
I did get next week's schedule and I'm doing 3 canneries at least, with me leading one. Which is the first one. I wish it wasn't the first because I think I could benifit from seeing another. But it's okay. I will be alright.
We finished up the day. I finally ate my sandwich. And soon we headed home.
James ordered us pizza and we would pick that up on the way home. I was very tired all of a sudden, not shocking. Stanley had asked me earlier if I was okay because I was sort of zoning out.
I was very glad to be going home. When we got back the Pokemon plush James got me came. It's of my Squishie!! I love them very much. Both James and Squishie.
I would lay on the couch and play pokemon for a bit. I caught five new Pokemon. And then had pizza. James would edit their podcast and I went to lay in the hammock. James headed to the theater to do an hour of work. I took a bath. And was comfy in bed by the time they got home.
I am ready to brush my teeth and get ready to sleep. I hope you all have a great night. And that tomorrow is restful and soft. Love you all. Goodnight!

Battling was exciting for you. It was exciting to work with your team, your friends, towards victory. It was exciting, to be on the edge of defeat and make those amazing comebacks. It felt exciting to, sometimes, fall over the edge and see the flames of determination of your opponent shinning brighter above you.
But fighting Leon was different. Instead of the fiery determination most opponents gave you, fighting Leon sent waves of electricity through you like you had never felt before. The way he turned into a skilled strategist in the battle field made your skin tingle, seeking something you couldn't quite pin point at first.
It took you claiming the Champion title for you to realize that what his presence made you feel wasn't just the excitement of a challenge, to defeat the undefeated. It was desire in its purest form. Your heart ached for him throughout the Gym Challenge, the crush you had on him from the moment you met him slowly developed into something bigger and uncontrollable over time. But, during the final battle, your body gave in as well. It was knowing that your whole being loved him that perhaps pushed you to confess your feeling for him afterwards.
Lying in bed, you took a trip down memory lane, revisiting that intoxicating feeling. The memories of that time had been getting fuzzy, since it had been a few good couple of months since you had defeated Leon and became Champion yourself. Maybe that's why you had decided to clear out your day and challenge him at the Battle Tower a few hours earlier. Battling in general was interesting to you, but no challenger had been as exciting as Leon.
However, you had to admit that winning against him hurt. It hurt you when you took away his Champion title, made you feel like you were stripping him of a part of his soul, even though he was openly proud of you. Hours earlier, you felt the same when he refused to properly look at you after another loss for his record. He had, once again, announced how proud he was of how strong you had become, but you couldn't help but think he resented you for sweeping his dream from his grasp and remind him of it with today's battle.
The fact you were in bed all alone past midnight didn't help to reassure you from such thoughts. Leon was supposed to be home hours ago, but so far there was no sign of him. Your texts were ignored and your calls went unanswered, making you increasingly worried and scared.
Was he really mad at you? What if he hated you? Could your thrill-seeking have hurt him and, by extent your relationship?
Doubt and anxiety drowned you in the dark of night, unable to reach the surface of rationality. You were pulled out of it by the sound of the front door of your apartment unlocking. You remained frozen in the dark, not knowing what to do.
Leon entered you bedroom slowly and quietly, not even turning on the light. You quietly watched as he used the moon and city lights streaming through the window to guide himself though the room. You saw him take off his clothes until he was in nothing but his boxers, and carefully slide into bed. It was then that he noticed you were very much awake and staring at him. He gave you a small but honest smile and a loving look.
"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you up." He whispered, as he finished joining you under the sheets.
"It's okay, I wasn't asleep. I wanted to wait for you." You admitted. You heart strangled itself in doubts when you noticed Leon stayed on his side of the bed and made no effort to meet you in the middle for cuddles, as usual.
"Yeah, sorry about that, love. Had some last minute things to take care of and-" Leon looked you in the eye and turned visibly concerned, probably noticing the mental storm reflected in your eyes "(Y/N)... Is something wrong?"
You opened your mouth to reply, but you choked on your "yes" and released a small squeak instead. You swallowed hard and looked away for a second. You took a deep breath and stared deep into his amber eyes.
"Leon, do you hate me?" His eyes widened at your question. He leaned up on his elbow quickly, mouth agape.
"Of course not, love! What made you think that?!" You looked away.
"I just... Aren't you mad that I took your Champion title, your unbeatable streak? You put so much work into it... And then I came along and... I know me and my Pokémon are strong, but don't you feel like I shouldn't have beaten you back then? Because... I sometimes think it was unfair because... I don't think I'm as strong as you. I fought you for the thrill, mostly, and somehow won. I fought you again today just for the thrill too, but I was... secretly hoping you'd win, as it should have been from the beginning." You finally looked at him. Leon was frozen, listening to your confession. "Don't you think I should have lost?"
Leon closed his mouth and you saw his Adam's apple bob up and down. He took a deep breath and you prepared yourself for the truth.
"Of course not!" You widened your eyes at his answer. He leaned closer and you saw the glint of determination light up his eyes. "(Y/N), you won fair and square! Your Pokémon are strong, and you're smart and amazing! You and your Pokémon trust each other to the edge of the world and back, and you all gave your best during those battles. You won with every right!" He then looked away.
"I mean, I am a bit... sad. I got used to being 'Leon, The Unbeatable Champion of Galar', after all." His amber orbs turned to you again, slowly warming your soul with the flaming love they held. "But I wanted, and still want, for the trainers of Galar to work together and be the best version of themselves. You winning against me was just a show of what we all can become. You're a beacon of hope for many, for me, for showing that anything is possible and... Babe, I couldn't be more happy to lose to you. You need to be pretty damn amazing to pull of such a thing and... Hell, if that isn't why I love you!"
You stood silent, mouth agape, as you tried to process it all. His words and his smile warmed you to the core, like the first sun rays that break through the clouds at the end of a storm, bringing in hope and light to your world.
"I love you."
It wasn't the first time you said those words, but the feeling that pushed them forward was stronger than you ever felt. Leon must have felt the meaning behind them, since a tint of pink covered his cheeks. You weaved your fingers into the hairs at the nape of his neck and pulled him in for a kiss.
You poured all your feelings into it, leaving you both breathless. When you eventually broke away, your hand slid from the back of his neck to his cheek. You caressed his skin, softly, with your thumb.
"What would I do without you?..." Your whisper faded into nothing, carefully leaving the atmosphere undisturbed. Leon smiled. He carefully took hold of the hand caressing his cheek and, after locking his fingers through yours, he put a soft peck on your wrist, right over your pulse point, making your heart skip a beat.
"You'd continue to be as amazing as you are now." Leon replied, pecking one of your knuckles. A giddy smile took over your lips and you couldn't help the urge to kiss him. You pushed him into the bed, hand still intertwined with his, and leaned over him to kiss him.
Your tongues danced against each other, sending waves of bliss through the both of you. When you eventually broke the kiss, you gazed into each other's eyes, all sorts of feelings being traded in that single look. You both leaned into another kiss, then another after that, then countless others. Leon's free hand took a spot on your hip and slowly caressed up and down your side, sending tingles through your skin.
Your shirt riled up slightly during it all and, when his hand grazed your skin, the tingles turned into a wave of sparks that shot through your body. You squeezed his hand, before sliding your hand off of his to tangle it in his hair. With a very light pull, he let you move his head to the side, giving you access to his neck. Your mouth latched onto it immediately, suckling dark marks into his skin.
His hands kept roaming up and down your sides, getting bolder by the second. They slipped under your shirt, skimmed over the underside of your chest, before they went back down and traced the waistline of your pants, pulling them down slightly.
His thumb slipped under the waist band to caress the softer skin underneath, taunting you. You dreamt of his hands going lower, but they remained on the same spot, low enough to give you expectations, but way higher than where you wanted them.
You let go of his neck for a second to lightly nibble on his earlobe. You heard Leon inhale sharper than usual.
"Lower." You whispered. There was no need for more words. Leon's hand's slowly drifted towards your ass instead, making you growl in frustration . You raised your head to look at his smirk. Frustrated, with no mood to play around, you lightly twisted one of his nipples between your fingers, which pulled a groan form Leon.
"Impatient..." You heard him mutter, smirk still present. You smirked back at him, but it was quickly wiped out when he pulled your hips flush against his. The feeling of his clothed bulge through your pants made wetness pool at your core. You released a breathy moan at the feeling, and grinded against him, pulling out a similar response from Leon.
Leon's lips attacked yours fiercely, and he finally moved to pull off your shirt. As soon as it was off, he took hold of your hips again and switched positions. With him now above you, Leon took the chance to appreciate the sight of your desperate self, skin flushed with desire and messy hair spread out over the pillows.
"You're so beautiful..." He breathed, as he leaned in to give your neck a dose of the same attention you'd given him. However, it didn't take him long to spread his attention to your collar bone, chest, belly, all the way down to the waistband of your pants, licking and kissing your skin, with the occasional nibble along the way. You noticed he tried, as usual, to not leave any noticeable marks, in consideration to the spotlight the Champion title put on you, as he knew you liked to keep your private life as far away from it as possible. It warmed your heart to know that, in the heat of the moment, he still payed attention to the little things.
Your mind snapped back to the moment when you felt his hands pull down your pants. He carefully slid them all the way off, and then, after throwing the clothes towards some corner, carefully caressed your legs all the way up until his hands reached your things. He kneaded the soft flesh, fingers sometimes sliding oh so close to where you wanted them, before driving away.
You squirmed in his grasp and whined, wordlessly requesting for him to touch you were you needed him the most. Leon kept massaging your thighs, but refused to move closer to your core, even after you spread your legs wider for him.
"Patience, babe." He told you after you released another needy whine. Even so, he relented, and let his hands wander to your groin.
He started by circling your clit, putting light pressure on it. It was too little for you, but just enough to pull out a sigh from you. He kept changing the pace, faster, slower, harder, lighter… Each time you were sure he was falling into a rhythm, he'd switch it up, which was making you more frustrated and desperate.
"More…" You breathed out. Obeying your wish, Leon let go of your clit and dragged his fingers lower.
You couldn't contain the moan that left you when you felt one of his fingers break into you. He started dragging his finger in and out of you at a slow pace, curling his fingers in search of the perfect spot. Leon found it fast, used to your body by now, and started picking up the pace.
Each time he pressed into your spot, a new wave of electricity ran through your body, each one adding to the previous, pooling in your belly and squeezing the air out of your lungs in the form of moans, whines and whispered declarations of love for the man between your legs.
Leon soon added another finger into the mix, but when he saw no difference in your reaction, he finally dove in.
Your body arched off the bed as soon as you felt his lips seal around your clit, and a scream got stuck in your throat. That scream eased out of you as a moan, when Leon started flicking his tongue over your clit.
As the pleasure built, you lost control of your body, squirming under your lover's relentless attention. Leon wrapped his free arm around your hips to keep you in place, as his mouth and fingers kept working you towards the edge. You felt it getting close, so your hands held onto Leon's hair, bracing for the incoming fall.
"Are you close, princess?" You heard him ask. You tried to formulate an answer, but your mind was too cloudy to reply faster than the edge was approaching. You gladly took the fall, the heat inside your belly exploded into a flurry of fireworks that raced through your muscles, releasing the tension your body had held onto. Leon lapped at your juices like his life depended on it, determined to keep you in that high for as long as possible.
When you came back down, Leon was staring at you, drops of your juices holding onto his beard for dear life, and an animalistic hunger barely contained within his eyes.
"Shit, I never tire of seeing you like that, princess." Leon spoke with a low voice, his need dripping through his voice and staining his boxers.
You sat up to kiss him, the taste of yourself filling your mouth. He pulled your body flush into his and let his hands roam your curves, while you dragged yours down his chest and towards your main meal. You pulled the band of his boxers just low enough to let his erection spring out from its confines. You took a hold of it and pumped your wrist.
Leon moaned into the kiss and his hips pumped into your hand, seeking the sweet friction he needed. You didn't get to pump him three times before Leon broke away and pushed you into the bed again. He took a hold of your wrists and held them over your head.
"Leon" You whined "Lemme take care of you now." Leon kissed you deeply, his grasp never relaxing on your wrists.
"No, princess" He said, after breaking away from your lips. "I want to show you just how much I love you, it's about you tonight."
Butterflies fluttered in your stomach at his words. Leon released your hands so he could properly remove his boxers, and you immediately wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him back to your lips.
As soon as the boxers were lost in the darkness, Leon dragged his tip along you folds, spreading your juices down his length. You then helped him line up to your entrance, and he finally pressed in.
You moaned at the feeling of Leon filling you, and he followed soon after with his own moan when he felt your walls squeeze him.
He bottomed out with a couple of weak thrusts and held that position, so you both could bask in the feeling of finally being connected.
You pulled him into a kiss and that's when he started to move at a slow, lazy pace. You thrusted up your hips to meet his, slowly coaching him to speed up. You broke the kiss to pay attention to his neck. You felt his groan vibrate through his body, under your hands, when you suckled on his weak spot. Leon thrusted faster, working harder to bring you together to ecstasy. You bucked against him as well to meet him halfway, which was more than enough to make him hit a spot inside you that made you see stars. Heat quickly pooled in your belly once more, growing with each thrust from you both.
Compliments and words of admiration fell from his lips, and you responded in kind, your love for him too much to contain within your chest.
His words dragged off to silence, and you felt his thrusts loose rhythm, a sign he was close. You pulled his forehead against yours and kept the pace of your hips, determined to bring him to completion.
"I love you." You looked into his eyes, which were glazed with pleasure. You tried to convey as much meaning as you could into those words, afraid Leon and the world would never be able to understand the depth of your feelings for him. Leon didn't reply, instead he brought down one of his hands to your clit and circled it with his fingers, determined to bring you with him over the edge.
The pleasure and the feeling collided hard within you and exploded into a supernova of hot white that overloaded every one of your nerves and shot you and Leon into a world only the two and you and your love for each other existed.
The world slowly drifted back into your conscious. Leon was collapsed on top of you, face hidden in your neck. You felt his length slip from within you, a drop of his juices followed right after, mixing with your on the sheets.
"I love you too." You heard him whisper into your skin. The words pulled a silly grin into your lips.
Leon rolled out from you and into his side and pulled you into him.
"Don't ever doubt that." He said, before laying a kiss in your hair. Exhausted, you cuddled into his chest, while trying to come up with an answer, but before you knew, you were off to the world of dreams, just glad to know you and Leon would always be there for one another.

Love Doesn’t Do Encores Ch6 The Entrance Ceremony
(Notw: I am aware that Piers also appears in Pokemon Masters EX and Pokemon Masters will be canon also to the story line but not until after the Sword and Shield story line.)
You perhaps should've seen it coming when Hop's excitement was reignited when he heard Leon left him a present and you gladly handed over one of the bags to which he opened up in a hurry but looked utterly confused at all the healers and camping food until you explained the reasons why Leon got them all for him. Which he understood with a nod. And after a moment more of resting you decided to walk back with him towards the road, but the two of you ran into another familiar face in the form of Gloria. Or more like she almost ran into the two of you as she ran into the train station as you got up from your seat. Your sobble still sore over how many times he already fell from your shoulder and so resorted to gripping your shoulder sleeve harder.
"Geez Glory!," Hop commented raising a brow, "What's gotten you in such a hurry? I thought that was my thing."
"Sorry," she apologized leaning over to look around you and Hop at the station, "Did Leon leave yet? You said somethin' about stopping him so we could say good bye."
He again sighed and slouched a big bag in his hands. "Yeah he's gone back to whatever he was doing. I suppose I can't catch a train after all." ...He gave a small smile though. "But I guess I can't complain! He's the Champion! So of course he's gotta be like SUPER busy! We'll come face to face again soon enough!"
Gloria smiled back and nodded in agreement. "YEAH! Besides, maybe we'll see him at the Opening Ceremony tomorrow!"
You nodded at them. Although you knew he wouldn't be there as in game if the current events kept up, but you didn't want to break their hearts or anything so soon.
"Are you two endorsed trainers?," a man's voice asked from behind the three of you turned around to the man in the small store like stand in the train station. His smile widened as he nodded to his side where a stack of books was settled. "Would any of you three be interested in joining in our charity dex events?"
"Charity dex?," you asked obviously confused.
And the man nodded again gesturing to the two different book stacks one smaller than the other. "Yes! For just five dollars you can purchase one of two dex books and enter the dex challenges to win a variety of prizes! All proceeds goes towards the power crisis fund raiser."
There was that mention again about the power crisis. You wondered how dire it was exactly. Gloria seemed to take interest in it though and walked right up to the stand staring at the books. "....What's exactly the challenges?"
"Well there's the Poke-Dex challenge and the Curry-Dex challenge?" He explained holding up one of the small books, it had a picture of a plate of some kind of food etched into it. "The challenge is too take a picture of every labeled curry, or pokemon, on the pages and when your albums are fully completed, you turn in into your local pokemon center to claim your prizes! And there's no time limit. It's all for charity and you get a neat scrap book out of it. We already sold a few to some people on their way on the train. Would you be interested in joining one of the dex challenges?"
"I dunno. Sounds like a scam to me, Glor," Hop commented glancing at the books. "I always thought photography was Victor's gig. And we're already got the gym challenges ahead of us tomorrow.......Glory?"
Dexes?? As in completing the entire pokemon dex for this game?? Was this how it was manifesting in this game? You guessed so. It WOULD be weird if Gloria just discovered her pokedex had a limit of numbers in order to 'complete' it like a game's challenge. but a curry dex?? You faintly remembered there being some kind of food challenge in game but you couldn't remember it too well.
"I can't believe you wasted twenty dollars on two scrape books and camera film." Hop gave a small frown at the rolls of film and books Gloria was carrying along with the bag of goodies provided by Leon from earlier. "You don't even have a polaroid camera for all of that."
"No, but Victor does! I'm sure he won't mind if I take his old one." She waved him off. "Besides! It'll be fun and easy! Just fill up a whole book with pictures of pokemon and curries! How hard can it be?"
Hop's face deadpanned. "That's not exactly what I meant."
The three of you had left the train station not longer after that and had taken a small detour to the grocery store you were previously in that morning so Gloria could buy herself a decent amount of film rolls. It was crazy how many rolls of film you could cheaply buy in this world for a mere ten dollars, although you were sure Hop disagreed. So you decided to change the subject by asking the two a question.
"So," they both turned to you, "We're leaving for the Entrance Ceremony tomorrow morning right?"
"YEP! Bright and early! The morning train leaves at seven thirty sharp and we have to get our Dynamax bands from Professor Magnolia tomorrow! So we're gonna have to get up real extra early if we don't want to miss it. These train conductors are always on time, whether it's a good or bad thing. But those bands will be worth it to be able to dynamax and complete our Badge Circles!"
"I see. ...What's a badge circle??" You don't remember hearing anything like that from the game even when you played it way back when. "I don't think I know how these gyms and badges work."
They both gave you a confused look and for a moment you thought you goofed up before luckily Gloria unknowingly saved face for you when a look of realization came over her. "OH RIGHT!! You're not from this region so you wouldn't possibly know how the gyms work!" You thanked whatever god was listening for this great save as Gloria happily explained. "You see there's ten gyms each with their own gym leader unique to their own type of pokemon, but in order to compete in the finals at the end of the year you only need eight badges to complete your Badge Circle. A Badge Circle is like a puzzle but instead of carboard puzzle pieces you use badges to make it, then you present it to the official board who helps host the Gym Challenge. They're also the ones who's going to be checking to make sure your endorsements are legit at the Entrance Ceremony," she explained as you listened. Never knew when this info might come in handy later. "That's where four of the gyms are optional. While usually they give you they're own unique piece for the Badge Circle..Both Rock Type and Ice Type Gyms offer the same shaped badge. So does the Fighting and Dark Type Gyms. So usually you'd pick either one of the two choices, grab it, and then move on. Lots of people don't see the point of battling both gyms for the same piece as it's not required." She smirked before pointing a confident hand forward. "BUT NOT ME!! What's the point of me joining the Gym Challenge if I don't at least try out every gym at least once! We have a full year until the finals anyhow! That should be plenty of time for me to get what I need!!......Plus...m-maybe because I'm also kinda hoping to get some pictures and a few autographs. It's not everyday you get to see such famous people. Hehe."
You rolled your eyes with a smile. Just like a teen meeting a famous person but Hop sighed again. "I just don't see why you're going through all of this trouble. Won't it make more sense to just focus on one thing?"
"Hop you need to broaden your horizons a bit! It's gonna be our first times away from home! It's not just about the Gym Challenge!" She smiled widely at him. "It's about seeing new things! Meeting new people! Getting to see all kinds of new pokemon! It's...." Her smile dropped for a bit as she looked down. "It's actually a bit scary.....but I guess that's what's also making it so exciting." She smiled again. "Plus I know you're also doing the challenge so it's not like I'll be going into it alone right? Ill have my best bud going through it with me!"
Hop stared at her for a moment before clearing his throat and nodded looking away. "Y-Yeah! You're right. "
"See? Told you! It'll be fun! And I'll have Y/n as a traveling buddy anyways! So it should be fine."
You nodded in agreement as the three of you continued to walk back towards their homes, and both children mentioning the new pokemon they had been able to catch while out on their little adventure today.
"So how many pokemon did you guys catch?," you asked curiously.
And Gloria proudly answered, "NINE! And Hop caught five!"
You did a double take at the two. "Wait. You guys caught fourteen pokemon between the two of you in the few hours I was gone!?"
"Yeah! Hop's really lucky! He's got a shiny butterfree!"
Hop gave a sheepish smile and in a similar fashion to Leon raised a hand to rub the back of his head. "Well I guess I was just lucky to catch it off guard enough to catch it in the farmer's meadows."
Oh yeah. Weren't shiny pokemon a pokemon born with a rare color variety compared to most of their other kind? Wow. Well it sounded like the two of them certainly had a fun time out and about. "Wow. It sure sounds like you guys had a fun time." The three of you were coming up to the roads that split into to directions to both of the children's homes.
Gloria nodded again. "Hey! Hop! Come over to my house so I can practice my camera."
"What?," Hop's brow rose again, "Don't you mean Victor's camera?"
"Same difference! If I take pictures of all the pokemon we caught then it'll be good practice and give me a head start on the challenge! Plus who else would have a picture of a shiny butterfree?"
He sighed. "I swear you can bounce forward on anything like a ball."
You chuckled as the three of you made it to Gloria's house. Finding her mother in the kitchen cooking food and the first thing you noticed was the delicious smell coming from the kitchen stove, whatever she was cooking smelt of spices and your stomach growled. She looked up for a moment and smiled at the three of you, asking what the bags were for once she noticed, so you explained to her what had happened with you and Leon that morning as the two kids went off towards the door outside. She chuckled when you explained how Leon got lost on his way to the train in the early morning and got lost to only somehow end up back in front of his own home. Calling him 'a sweet young man for helping the kids out like that' and asking how your day went. Overall it was pretty well and you soon found yourself sitting down at the kitchen table resting yourself from all the walking around town you did. It was still fairly early in the day being only twelve something in the afternoon- You jumped when your Sobble all of a sudden chirped curiously and half climbed onto the side of your head to look towards the opposite side of the house as a flash of light came from one of the windows from outside. A minute long pause. And then another went off. A total of fourteen flashes with about a minute pause between them and while you tried to wrangle your sobble from your face without hurting it and it was enough to catch Mrs. G's attention as she stared with a brow rose.
"Gloria, what are you kids doing? I hope you're not practicing electric type moves near the house" her mother demanded. "You already almost caught your bed on fire from teaching your scorbunny Ember inside!"
"It's fine Mum!," Gloria's voice came followed by her head appearing in said window and waved what could only be described as a polaroid camera. "We're taking picture of our pokemon! Can you believe that I already have fourteen pokemon for the dex challenge!"
Her mother gave her a confused look placing a hand on her hip, "Dex challenge? What are you talking about?" She asked just as her Munchlax came toddling him yawning with another green pokemon behind him. He must've smelt the food and woken up you figured.
However Gloria's eyes lit up with a gasp! "Make that soon to be sixteen! You caught a Budew!?"
"Oh?" She glanced at the pokemon at her feet glancing up at her. "Oh yes. It was one of the two that always hangs around the flower beds. I always thought they were rather helpful for planting so I thought-" She paused as Gloria was already gon-
BANG!!
Both of you and the three pokemon jumped and turned to Gloria in the door's entrance camera in hand and scorbunny at her heels as she grinned at the Pokemon at her mother's heels before lifting the camera at them. "SAY CHEESE!!"
"Gloria! What are you-" She was cut off by two flashes that blinded you for a moment and you reached your hand up to cover your face as a white coated your vision. "GLORIA!!"
"Whoops. Sorry Mum!"
"WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING!?"
"Taking pictures of pokemon. Duh."
"I can SEE that! Or I would if you hadn't blind sided me.....Wait. Isn't that Victor's camera? What on earth were you doing playing with it!? You know that's not yours!"
You groaned and rubbed your eyes as they contined to talk. You trying to rub away the white dots that came with the flash as your sobble sat there. And you suddenly felt a small hand pawing at your face, as if your sobble was mimicking the movements you made at the attempt of clearing your vision. It was cute....But it would've cuter if you could see it.
"But Mom," Gloria pleaded, "It's for a good cause I promise. There's this Dex challenge and if you fill up the entire book with pictures when you can win something! Plus it's fun!"
"Well watch where you're pointing that thing! The last thing we need is you blinding someone."
"Yes, Mom." "Sorry Ms. G."
You finally opened your eyes still lightly rubbing them as you blinked and your vision was slightly blurry, but it quickly cleared revealing the two teens and their mother standing there as they looked at you. And Mrs. G held out a hand to you.
"Oh dear. Are you alright, Y/n?"
You nodded. "Yeah. I guess. It was just real bright for a moment." You paused as the camera was held out pointed at you by Gloria.
"Hey, Y/n. Can I take a picture of your sobble?"
A picture of your- "Oh. Yeah sure! Just lemme close my eyes for a minute." She nodded as she held the camera up to her face and you slammed your eyes shut as the words left her mouth.
"Hey Sobble!" The pokemon turned to her. "Say cheese!" Another flash of white lit up everywhere and your sobble chirped in surprise as his eyes went wide and it swayed as you reopened your eyes. Gloria smiled as the camera made a whirling noise and a moment later a perfect picture of you with your sobble staring towards the camera came out through a slot in the bottem as she grabbed it. Examining it with a smile. "Yep! That makes seventeen now!"
You gently took the sobble off your shoulder and into your arms as it swayed wide eyed, before shaking it's head and scowling towards the two teenagers, letting out a very loud squeak of annoyance at her before leaning back into your arms like a cat would still glaring at the two of them. You kinda felt bad so you ended up scratching it's back making it give a pleased sound and smile after a moment. What a cute newt thing!
"Hey Glory. Shouldn't we be dropping off some of your pokemon at the center for your rotomi boxes?," Hop asked
Gloria nodded before looking at him. "Hey. Doesn't your grandpa have a purrloin?"
"Yeah he sure does."
"Think he'll let me take a picture of it?"
"I don't see why not! C'mon!"
"Wait! What about lunch?!," Gloria's mother called after the two already running out the door. She stood there for a few moments, before sighing and shaking her head. "I swear! If those two were pokemon they'd be rapidashes for how fast they head off to things."
You chuckled at her. The rest of the day went by very quickly. You had ended up helping Mrs. G clean up after she had started cooking and she gave you some curry as a thanks. You never had this kind of dish before. It was some rice with some kind of red sauce with the same spice smell from earlier, but neither of you were complaining as you ate. It was actually pretty good. Nice to have a peaceful meal considering the past couple days with how chaotic they were. Although you did have to keep your sobble from trying to grab food from your plate and to appease it you fed it a few peices of pokemon food after Mrs. G offered. Gloria didn't return until later that evening where you assumed she had dropped off some of her pokemon with Hop. The camera secured around her neck by a strap and her hands was one of the journals you noticed she had purchased. So you asked about it and her face lit up and she showed the both of you the eighteen pictures she had taken. Some of them you had recognized. Gloria's scorbunny. You and your sobble. Mrs. G's two pokemon of course, and a couple of Hop's. Including a yamper like Sonia's. What you didn't recognize was a few new ones which she gladly told you the names of them. But the most surprising one was her phone but it looked as if it was posessed by a rotom. When asked Gloria explained that it was perfectly normal for someone to have a rotom phone with their very own rotom. She probably assumed you didn't have any of that back in 'Kanto'. Time flew by and other than Mrs. G scolding Gloria for snapping a picture of the curry she had saved her for dinner, it was pretty easy for you to follow your routine before once again falling asleep on the couch and dozing off for the night. Until the very next day of course. You were just laying there peacefully snoozing away peacefully until you felt a harsh shake on your shoulder and a light was shown on you. Of course you being asleep ignored it in favor of turning over on the couch and curling into the blanket even more. Again a harsher shake made you groan in protest at whoever was trying to kidnap you from slumberland.
"Y/N!!" A young girl's voice shouted fairly close and loud next to your ear. Startling you awake with a snort, sitting right up and blinking and rubbing your eyes at the harsh light that extended on you. "Time to wake up or we'll miss the train to Motostoke!"
"Uuuuuhhh," you groaned peeking your eyes open and blinking groggily up at the form of Gloria smiling at you. You yawned a bit. "Gloria? Wha-....*yaawwn* What time is it?"
"Six o four in the morning!," she stated happily before leaning back up and it took you a moment to figure out it was still dark in the early hours of the morning and the light was coming from the light bulb above you. "You need to hurry up and get ready before we're late! I still need to pick up my Dynamax band from the Professor too!"
"M' up," you mumbled reaching a hand out to slowly toss off the blanket from your form as Gloria backed away.
She turned as you both heard her mother's tired voice call to her, asking what was up. What you needed to wake you up was a nice hot shower so that's exactly what you did. Dragging yourself out of bed, you trudged into the bathroom and took a deserving hot shower, brushing your teeth, and opting to instead of the overalls lent to you by Mrs. G wore the black shirt with the Eevee print, slacks, and the non rubber shoes you also picked up. By the time you came out, with everything else in the gray plaid bulking back pack of yours, the smell of food was already in the air and it didn't take you too long to find out why when you look over and saw Gloria holding what could've only been described as a plain waffle in one hand obviously in the middle of eating it, and going through her big brown back pack with the other as her mother looked at her.
"Uh huh. And are you sure you got plenty of clothes?," Mrs. G asked raising a brow, "Extra pokeballs? Your region map? How about the revives Leon was nice enough to get you?"
"Yes Ma!," the teen mumbled half way through eating, "I already went through this last night!"
"Well it never hurts to double check! Especially since you can't lose that endorsement letter or else they won't let you register for the challenge at all," she looked up and noticed you before smiling, "Ah! Y/n! Good morning, Dear. I hope you slept well."
You nodded shifting the backpack over your shoulders, "Yeah thanks! ......Hey. Where's that sobble?" You rose a brow while looking on the floor. Strange the little guy wasn't around.
"He was hungry so I gave him some food to tide him over for you. And speaking of which you must be hungry. I'll get you some breakfast. You aren't starting off your trip on an empty stomach."
"But Mom! That's gonna take even longer! Hop's already waiting for me! We still need to grab the dynamax bands before we go and we'll miss the train if we wait-"
"How about you guys go get the..bands and I'll *yaaawwn* meet you at the train station?," you suggested. You weren't really in the mood for any arguing in the morning, and to be honest you were hungry and the idea of starting a long trip on an empty stomach just didn't appeal to you.
You were lightly surprised when Gloria agreed to it and after a few more moments of going through her pack, left with Hop you assumed, as her mother kindly handed you over some food. More waffles but you weren't complaining. Your sobble at some point noticed you were awake and soon enough you felt that familiar feeling of the little guy crawling up your clothes only to plop itself into your shoulders. It really liked being carried around didn't it? Your muddled mind didn't know when but sometime after you finished the pancakes you were out the door bag in your hands, one hand holding it and the other digging through it to make sure all the few belongings you did own for now were secured. Sure enough you found the non perishable food Leon had given you, the few clothes, and of course your Sobble's pokeball tucked somewhere in the bottom of it all. You decided to keep your sobble out for the time being as it seemed to enjoy being out. The early morning light was starting to peek through with the light pinks and yellows of the sunrise. Already as you made your way to the train station, you saw the farmers and their wooloos out in the fields. Early to bed early to rise you guessed. You saw no sign of the teens, guessed they were still getting the dynamax bands from the professor, even as you walked right into the train station. So you did the only thing your tired self could do. You once again plopped yourself into one of the seats tiredly and waited for the two to arrive. It couldn't have been that long(or maybe it was but you didn't notice) but you perked up at a familiar voice.
"So out with it, Glor! How many did you catch again?"
"I already told you eight! You saw me take pictures of them yesterday remember?"
"Oh right! Sorry that's just the sleep talkin'. " You turned to the door as the young voices got louder. "But look at how many you caught! You're well on your way to building a fine team! I caught myself a special one not to brag."
" I KNOOOWWW!! I'm so jealous you caught a shiny before me!" Gloria walked right into the train station with Hop right behind her.
He shrugged with a proud smile. "Well what can I say? I'll make a difficult rival."
"Where are we heading again?"
"The Gym Challenge will begin Motostoke and our train's waiting so let's go-" He paused finally looking away from her and seeing you sitting there. Upon catching his eye you smiled and waved mumbling something like 'Good Morning'. And he smiled. "Hey! Y/n you're here!" You stood up to meet them with a light yawn as they approuched. "I thought you'd be on the train already.''
You chose not to mention you haven't gotten any money to pay for the ticket entrance and waved. "Nah. I said I'd wait for you guys at the station and I wanted to keep my promise." Looking to Gloria you noticed something around her neck, so you pointed and asked. "Hey. Isn't that your brother's camera?"
"Hm?" She blinked and looked to the camera around her neck. "Oh yeah! I'm gonna need it if I'm gonna finish this Dex Challenge too!"
Hop groaned and rolled his eyes. "I still think it's a waste of time but I guess it's your choice." He jabbed a thumb to the awaiting train. "It's nearly seven thirty. We should probably get on before it takes off." He suggested and the two of you agreed. Walking towards the small gate-
"Not so fast you three!," an older but familiar lady's voice cut through the air and the three of you all turned around as a result.
Hop's golden eyes widened. "Wha-? What're you doing here, Mum?" He asked turning around just as the two mothers of the children walked right in. You were confused at first two, before seeing what they were holding in their hands and you immediately understood why they had followed you here.
"I knew this day was coming since the moment you chose Grookey as a partner, Darling," the older woman smiled fondly at him, a smile you remember your own mother used to have way back when. She held up the small rolled up thing in her hands. "You took off so fast you two didn't take any sleeping bags. Did you forget you probably won't be able to afford hotels most of the time or won't be able to sleep in one every night? You can't expect a free bed around every corner."
Both looked immediatey sheepish as Mrs. G spoke. "Professor Magnolia was kind enough call and let us know that you three would be setting out now." She held up a small looking back of her own. "So here. A little last gift to see you well set on your way. All the kit you'll need for camping! And the reason why you should always double check BEFORE you take off." Gloria made a face and looked away before her mother made her take the small kit, which consisted of a small compact tent  you could carry over your shoulder and another sleeping bag, before crossing her arms with a frown. "Honestly! I swear you'd lose your head if it wasn't attached to your neck sometimes."
"HEY! I only forgot this one thing," she protested and her mother hummed.
" Ah yes. Like you forgot to tell me about how the two of you snuck off into the Slumbering Weild." In an instant she froze and you could've sworn a little color drained from Gloria's face in that moment. "And yes, I heard the news from young Leon. I'm glad someone bothered to tell me!" She sighed and her other hand was held out to you. "Here we are! A bit of pocket money for your journey. Buy yourself a little something at the pokemon center. Maybe some potions or something!"
You stopped and blinked at the small twenty bill in her hand before shaking your head. "Oh no! I couldn't possibly take your money! I-"
"Happened to save my child from a dumb idea. It's not much but something tells me you could use it anyways."
Well......It wouldn't hurt to have some money on you in case of emergencies even if it wasn't much. So you reluctantly took it from her. "I....Thank you."
She nodded to you before turning to Gloria and pointing a finger at her with a serious look. "Now. Remember that Scorbunny will battle to the very end for you so don't you go pushing the poor dear too hard! Come home to rest anytime that you need. After all east or west, home is best." She smiled. "No matter what happensout there, if you and your partner are together I know you'll be fine. Take my advice to heart Sweetie. As long as you have your pokemon at your side and the energy to carry onwards, you'll naturally find that you always have a smile on your face."
Gloria stood there for a moment before nodding to her mother and you blinked when she all of a sudden hugged the older woman, seemingly startling her too for a moment before she smiled and hugged the child back tightly like any mother would....Well except maybe yours. She was always seeming to be too busy working or making sure you worked hard to get good grades or worked hard enough to help out with the bills with your after school jobs. You didn't notice the frown come over your face as Hop mimicked his friend in giving his own mother a hug who like the other mother mirrored a smile and hugged back patting his head.
"Remember. No matter what happens out there, if you and your partner are together, I know you'll be fine."
Hop smiling pulled away and gave a big grin. "Thanks Mum! And just think of how lucky you are!" He raised a determined fist. "Mother to the first ever pair of Champion Brothers! Because I'm certain to be the Champion next! You'll see!"
She nodded in agreement but her face was amused. "Of course you will, Darling. Anyway, do have fun and take care of yourselves. And don't be too worried about not winning. You're welcome back home anytime."
Home huh- A loud train horn sounded off startling the five of you into turning to the train, then you happened to glance at the clock hanging upon the wall and noticed that it was seven twenty eight in the morning. Two minutes before seven thirty and the deadline for the train's departure. So you decided to point this out, having the two kids make a worried frown before taking a few steps back.
"We'll be off now!," Gloria explained lifting her hand a moment to give a quick good bye to the two mothers and turning to the train. "C'mon guys! We're off! Don't want to miss the train!"
You nodded in agreement tailing right after her with Hop behind you. "Wish us luck! Not that we'll need it!"
As the mothers waved good bye, the three of you went towards the gate and watched as Gloria slipped a single dollar into the slot of it. It made a ping noise and you guess it unlocked because the three of you easily slipped by and towards the train. The grey and yellow train's doors slid open with a whoosh sound as the three of you entered just as another horn sounded off startling your sobble a bit making it cling to your shoulder harder. Inside was who you assumed to be a train conductor who gestured for you all to exit through another door to the right which lead to the passenger cars and other people who happened to be on the train with you three. There was about fifthteen other people with you so the three of you had to go to one of the back seats. Yellow painted metal bars were everywhere along with Blue seats with a table between the two of them. Above each pair of seats was a small area to put luggage. You three sat down just as the train was starting off. Gloria breathing a sigh of relief from all the weight she was carrying. You assumed she was carrying more than you already along with the camping equipment she was given just a few moments ago. You ended up looking out the window and watching the station and small town of Postwick move away from your view and starting on your way. Beside you Gloria sighed and slumped into the soft cushioned seat.
"Man. We just left and I'm already feeling beat."
"Well look on the bright side," Hop suggested, "We're finally heading out on our journies! And Lee told me Motostoke is a good place as any to start off an adventure."
"Oh really? How come?," you asked curiously as he explained.
"Well besides the obvious Opening Ceremony going on there. Motostoke is surrounded by a giant piece of land called the Wild Area. It's a real sight! There's all sorts of wild Pokemon juat wondering about everywhere you look! Plus you can camp out, do a spot of fishing, and sight seeing! I don't think I could ever get tired of it!," he explained smiling widely, "But I don't think we'll be able to see it. The Entrance Ceremony's in the town not the wild. But on a lighter not! There's loads of brilliant trainers and all kinds of pokemon out there waiting for us! My excitement's running ahead of me faster than this train can go!"
"Yeah? Well it's too bad. Would've loved to take a couple more pictures." Gloria sighed leaning more against the wall of the train. " Im already starting to understand why Victor likes it so much. Like I wouldn't make it a living like he wants to but it's a nice hobby."
You nodded agreeing with her and extended your arm to allow your sobble to crawl along your arm and onto the table, watching as it curiously crawled up to the window and looked out at the world passing by. You all sat there for who knows how long chatting, the kids pulled out their phones and showed you a few pictures of what looked almost like a castle's high walls and beautiful scenery surrounding it. It was quite lovely. At one point someone said it would take at least a few hours to get to the town so all of you had plenty of time to relax but you couldn't help but let your mind wonder. What was happening back at your home? Was your mother worried about you suddenly going missing? What happened when she went to wake you up but found you completely gone? Did she call the police to file a missing person's report yet? Counting today it would've been five days that you had disappeared and that must've been worrying. And if this happened to just be a crazy dream you surely hoped you would wake up sometime soon. You were soon snapped out of any bad thoughts though. How? Simple the train suddenly slowed down out of no where it caught you off guard and you ended up hitting the table in front of you your poor Sobble chirping in shock as it was sent tumbling across said table and into Hop's extended arms as he thankfully caught the poor thing before it could splat onto the floor below. What the world was that!? Your head turned as Gloria nudged your side. you gave her a questioning look about to ask if she was alright but she pointed out the window and you looked. There was.....Nothing but nature?? Which wouldn't be strange since it was the out doors, and you WOULD have chalked it up to just being another stop on the way to Motostoke but then why did the train suddenly stop like that? Granted you never rode on a train before but you were pretty sure they weren't supposed to stop suddenly enough to ram yourself into a table. One of your hands rubbed your sore ribs where they had hit the table, surely leaving a bruise later but no real damaged luckily. So why had you all suddenly stopped in the middle of seemingly no where? Around you other people were also noticing, muttering to themselves, some getting up to peer out the windows or to take a couple steps up the alley way as to walk up to the engine car.
"Attention Passengers!," a man's voice blared from a loud speaker somewhere, "Due to some unfortunate events beyond our control we have decided to take a quick stop at Wild Station. We apologize for any inconvience and to please wait patiently while we fix the issue. We thank you for your cooperation."
"Wha- Wild Station? That's just outside the the town!," Hop exclaimed holding your sobble in one arm while staring at a map on his phone with the other. Confusion on his face. "Why didn't they just stop inside the city?"
"Let's find out!" Gathering her things into her arms Gloria was quick to jump past you.
"WHA- Hey wait!," you called out extending an arm out to her as she darted up the car past other people.
You stared after her for a few seconds before turning to Hop who shrugged and got up to after her which you followed obviously. The two of you hurried after her as Gloria trotted up to the exit and with a whoosh the doors opened with her stepping out and the two of you followed. On the other side was another train station. Only this one had slightly different colored brick walls and there was a whole bunch of leaves and twigs scattered about. Besides the three of you there was a couple looking over a map in one corner of the station looking confused and lost, a map just sitting in the waiting chairs, and someone who looked to be in some kind of uniformed green vest.
You gave a confused look around. "Where the heck are we?"
"Ill check!'' Before you could respond Hop had already turned to the man in the vest and asked, "Hey, Mr. Station Master!" The man hummed and turned to him. "Isnt this the Wild Area? What're we stopped here for?"
The man sighed crossing his arms. "Yes....This is the Wild Area Station makes no mistakes. I'm sorry to tell you that the train is halted due to a flock of wooloo."
"WHAT?!," both you and Gloria said at the same time.
A giant herd of wooloo!? Oh great! Now what were you all supposed to do?
Hop however wasn't the least bit concered. "What's there to be sorry about? This is brilliant!"
Gloria gave him a look that looked like he just did something crazy. "What is?"
He excitedly smiled widely at her. "This Wild Area is massive!" He explained the sobble in his arms giving a noise of annoyance at his sudden movements. "There are loads of pokemon to battle here! You don't get it do you, Glor? This is the best possible place to put together the greatest team!"
"I don't think we should be taking off, "Gloria pointed out and you nodded agreeing. "We have to get to the ENtrance Ceremony soon or else we'll be considered forfeiting our sponsorships entirely!"
"They take it that seriously?," you asked lightly surprised as she nodded.
"Something about a long time ago a lot of trainers tried to sneak their way into the challenge by claiming they were late to register or something like that. Since then the rules have been pretty strict. Which is why I want to register first and then come back here if I have a chance."
"When is the deadline?"
"Midnight. And as much as I'd love to explore around...Im kinda nervous about securing that spot."
You could totally agree with her on that point Buuut- You pointed behind you. "But the train's going to be backed up for a while by the looks of it. Maybe we can walk? How fair is this Motostoke?''
"Let's step out and see. The map said it shouldn't have been too far away I think."
That wasn't a bad idea and with no objections the three of you stepped out and what you saw made you pause. As soon as you stepped out you were hit with the strong rays of sunlight making you blink but once your (f/c) eyes managed to get a hold of themelves...Well....Breathtaking was a pretty good way to describe it. A giant meadow stretched as much as you could see with a giant lake, a few scattered trees, and A GIANT WALL! A giant wall was set up with a few bridge like structures to the right and you could see a few very tall buildings/structures ahead. You saw what you thought was oil rigs movie, a giant clock which reminded you of Big Ben back in your world, a few sky scrapers, and a few other things you were too far away to make out. Over all it was a very strange but pretty sight as the wind blew through the trees.
"Look at that!," Hop said in awe pointing at the buildings which must've been a decent half mile away. "That's Motostoke way off that way! And between here and there are countless new pokemon waiting to be met!"
Gloria hummed. ".......Well it would be cool to explore somewhere we won't get in trouble I guess."
"EXACTLY!!" He pointed towards the meadow. "Im itching to just see what's out there. It's not too far away and we can probably spare a couple hours. I mean we have until Midnight right? And we left pretty early in the morning."
She hummed again. "Well when you put it that way it does sound like fun!" A smile crossed her face again. "I can take a whole bunch of pictures for my scrapebook! And catch a few more pokemon of course."
You weren't sure that was a good idea- "Well well. You two running off again?"
The three of you turned- You blinked surprised. "Sonia?," you asked. True to your word the orangedhaired professor's assistant was walking right towards the three of you with a smile. "What are you doing here? I don't remember seeing you get on the train."
"Of course you didn't. I didn't enter the train through the station right side of the station," she smiled. "Besides. I figured it'd be an opportune time for me to travel for my research." Sonia gave a sigh and looked to the ground shaking her head. "My grab gave me a proper earful in her own way.  'Those two young trainers are setting out on a journey, but what are you doing with your life?' Her words not mine."
"Ouch Professor," you commented, "That sounds rough."  You didn't mean to be so blunt but you kinda understood how she felt. Your mother had asked you similar things to that while simaltaniously pushing you to study more, go to college, and get a job-
Sonia waved you off. "Ah. Never mind that. Nothing to worry yourselves over. " Her eyes lowered back to the teens next to you. "Besides I've been more curious about that pokemon you two met in the forest. I'd been thinking I should look into it so the timing works out fine! If I discover something really huge then maybe even Gran'll admit I got some talent."
Pokemon- OH RIGHT!! You nearly forgot the legendary pokemon they saw in the fog. Although you were still unsure what it was exactly. A thought suddenly struck you. In the game Sonia would uncover some amazing things important to the plot of the game. If ONLY you could remember what it was!
"Yikes." Hop made a cringe face. "Being an adult got it's own challenges eh?"
You frowned and gave a chuckle and shake of your head which made him look at you. "Oh you have NO idea."
"I said you needn't worry about it," Sonia stated a little more firmly. "I'm glad to be on the road really! It's been ages. It'll be great fun to fish and camp and rough it outside again."
"Uh huh. Well you have fun with that! Meanwhile.." He turned with a smile. "I heard there's natural dynamaxing pokemon in the Wild Area! I'm off to go stick my head in as many of those red dens as I can find!"
"Not. So. FAST! Mr. Impatient!" He yelped when gloria grabbed him by the hoodie and with the same frown as her mother stared at him when she yanked him back. "We only got here and you want to run off again into the wild??"
"Oh c'mon Glory. I promise Ill meet you up back at the Entrance Ceremony."
The young girl hummed. ".....What time is it by the way?"
"Oh." You glanced to sonia as she rolled up her sleeve and glanced at her watch. "According to this it just turned Eleven thirty in the morning."
She hummed and slowly released her friend. "Fine. But let's agree to meet at the Entrance Ceremony at six or seven in the after noon. That should be enough time for the both of us to explore and get to the town before it gets dark." She gave a concerned frown. "I really don't want you hurt or lost."
Hop paused for a moment before looking away coughing his cheeks having a light pink hue. "Um....YEAH! I can totally do that!"
Her smile returned. "Then it's settled! Can't lose my rival before I even join the challenge."
"GREAT!!" He turned again. "I'm going to battle the snot out of a bunch of dynamax pokemon and fill in the tale of my legend!" And he ran off.
"DONT YOU DARE FORGET HOP!!," Gloria hollered after him.
Both you and Sonia shared a chuckle at their childish behavior before she looked at you. What cheek. Dynamax pokemon are really on another level you know." She glanced to Gloria. "You'd better dynamax your partner pokemon too if you want to take on opponents that strong." She directed Gloria to the wild. "He's right about red dens. You'll find spots here and there in the Wild Area that emit a red beam of light. If you think you're up to it, check it out. They're usually cave openings with dynamax pokemon inside. But PLEASE be careful. It can be dangerous at times. I wish Hop would've waited for me to warn him before he ran off like that."
Gloria nodded in understanding as you looked down to your sobble climbing up your leg. Hop must've put him down when you weren't looking. "I understand Sonia! You don't have to worry about me!"
Sonia nodded to the two of you. "So with that Ill leave you two off here. The Wild Area is waiting for you. This is the start of your real adventure. Take care now."
You watched as she turned to walk away and....you weren't sure what really compelled you to say it in that moment but you reached your arm out after her. "Ms. Sonia!" She stopped and turned to you with a hum. You paused uncertainly if you should say anything. Would it affect the progress of the game's route? "I just....wanted to let you know that....You really are a great scientist already. And you're going to find a lot of things."
She blinked at you in surprise for a moment not sure what to make of your words, but settled on a smile and nodded. "Thanks. Your kind words mean a lot but we'll have to see what I actually accomplish. I wish you the best sights and experiences of Galar a tourist like you can have!" Before she turned and walked her way towards you assumed Motostoke.
"Wow." You jumped and looked to Gloria who smiled. "That was really nice of you. Even if it was a little out of no where."
You shrugged. "I guess I know how she feels a little bit. Sometimes a few kind words is what someone needs."
"Lee always says something similar, but I think he calls it 'champion encouragment'." She suddenly snapped her head forward and pointed. "Well you heard Sonia! I want to try out my first dynamaxing battle before I take on any gyms! We got about seven to eight hours to get some battling and sight seeing in so I say we give this day all we got!"
-time skip five hours forward-
You lost track of how many times Gloria pulled you along this way and that....but it was an eventful few hours.
You lost count of how many pokemon Gloria tried to battle. Key word being 'tired'. The first pokemon she tried to battle was one you remembered. An Onix. A. GIANT. MASSIVE!! AND CRANKY!! ONIX!! Probably didn't help Gloria snapped a picture of it before trying to battle it. You had to literally grab her and drag her behind you as you ran. Terrified scorbunny at your heels as it charged towards the two of you. Not the greatest start to be honest. But it wasn't as worst as her first dynamax battle. She had found an opening in the cliffside of a cave with red aura around in, one of the dynamax dens and she ran into it without a second thought with you chasing after her. Inside the dark was lit up by a GIGANTIC DIGLETT with the red-black cloud hovering over it's dynamax form. You nearly fainted then and there but when the thing ROARED you felt like you were about to have  a heart attack!!! Your sobble poor thing made a small squeal of fright before forcing itself into your backpack to hide immediately. Things just went downhill from there when in the middle of the battle Gloria decided to dynamax scorbunny and all of a sudden you both were having a very hard time standing up from the shaking ground and the debry the attacks caused to the point you literally yelled that you both had to leave then and there but she couldn't hear you past all the noise and therefore barked orders to her gigantic scorbunny from her holding onto the ground. With you clinging onto the cave's wall for dear life hoping it would be over soon. Thankfully it did. It was all a blur really. You vaugly remembered Gloria somehow capturing the diglett and returning scorbunny to it's rightful size. And you two carefully climbed around disheveled cave floor until managing to get out of the cave....where the both of you collasped onto the ground.
"HOW THE HECK CAN STADIUMS HANDLE THOSE THINGS!?,'' you yelled out dizzily into the soft grass. In the game you didn't have to worry about debry being flung at you or the ground giving away suddenly. BECAUSE IT WAS A GAME!! REAL LIFE POKEMON DYNAMAX BATTLES WERE NOTHING LIKE THE GAME!!
Gloria raised a weak hand. "T-They were made a long time ago with top professors, contractors, and researchers to build them strong enough even a dynamaxed monchomp with the strength of a thousand earthquakes couldn't shake it. Dunno how but man I'm glad they did."
You could 100% agree with that! It took a minute for the both of you to recover before the two of you got up, dusted yourselves off, and went off again. Gloria managed to resume battling and taking photos of a few pokemon. Although some of the pictures were so blurry from the pokemon moving they would be no use at all and she didn't catch a lot of the pokemon she tried to battle. But she did win a few and even had two other dynamax battles within the dens you guessed Hop didn't come across. Catching one of them but not the other as you struggled to not lose your lunch or have a heart attack both times. You were not a fan of wild dynamax battles after that. At one point you even came across what Gloria explained was a wild berry tree and demonstrated how to get the fruits off them by forcibly shaking it until a couple berries fell off it. They all had a somewhat bittertaste you didn't like when you tried them tho, but your sobble seemed to enjoy up as you handed them right over when they extended their....hands?? Paws??...towards it. You couldn't remember how much time had passed before the two of you finally had a chance to sit down under the shade of a tree and have a break. Gloria took the time to go through all the pictures she took, must've been about thirty, but only twenty one were salvagable. Curious you took a peak at the pictures she showed you. The pokemon she got pictures of were a onix(of course angering it-), roselia, vespiquen, nuzleaf, vulpix, snover, bunnelby, pidove, miccino, baltou, combee, tryogue, stuffel, diglett(how did she have time to get a picture of that dynamax thing?), metapod, diggersby, hoothoot, bounsweet, noibat, and a pancham. Not a lot but certainly a decent haul for her. It was you who eventually asked the question-
"Hey. What time is it?"
Gloria responded by quickly pulling out her phone and checking the time on it. And she blinked. "It's four twenty seven! It's already been about five and a half hours!"
"Wha-" You looked up to the sky. Didn't look like sunset yet, but it was definately about late after noon. You two hadn't even noticed the time fly by. "We've been out here nearly all day!"
With a hum gloria quickly scrambled to pick up her things. "I think we better head to Motostoke now. I don't really know how long it'll take to walk there and I did promise Hop we'd meet him there."
You nodded scooping the confused sobble into your arms. The walk there was pretty uneventful as you two walked what must've been half a mile, your eyes widening the closer you got, until you finally got there......AND. IT. WAS. NOTHING. LIKE IN GAME!! The entrance to Motostoke was all bricked with a mideival ages meets industrial period kind of look. All the buildings you could see were brick other than the familiar pink pokemon center and there was A LOT MORE people and buildings than in game you remember....makes sense you supposed. This was a real world and so of course there would be a lot more people and buildings. It was so crowded you were certain if Gloria wasn't walking beside you, you were sure you would've easily watched her. The first place you two stopped was the pokemon center where Gloria went inside to heal her pokemon from todays battle and put away any new ones she caught into those Rotomi box things. You were busy marveling at the busy streets and environment around you. You had never been in a city before let alone a town like this so it was quite a shock for you to see. This place even had GIANT WORKING GEARS BUILT INTO IT'S VERY WALLS!! It was like a real steampunk town. But once she came out she.....stopped and stared around her.
"So which way to the ceremony?," you asked her gazing at a few stores lined across the street.
She looked really unsure now fidgiting with the straps of her bag and looking around her. "U-Um...I don't know."
You snapped your head to her. "You don't what?!"
"Im sorry!" She apologized looking around. "I know it's here! I just.....don't know exactly where in town."
You wanted to facepalm but decided not too to avoid hurting her feelings and looked around as well as people and their pokemon passed you two. No signs of Hop or any indication of a ceremony anywhere in sight. No other trainers, no signs, certainly no ceremony!
Gloria suddenly held up her phone. "Maybe I should call him? He might already be there waiting for us-"
"HEY YOU TWO!!" A familiar voice called out and to both of your relief you turned and walking towards you with a shopping bag in one hand, yamper at her feet was your saving grace Sonia waving at you. "Over here!"
"SONIA!" Gloria smiled. "Boy are we glad to see you! We ran into a 'Leon situation' here."
That made her laughed. "Oh really? Real ace of you to make it through the Wild Area. And a Leon situation huh?"
Gloria nodded sighing. "We're kinda lost. Do you know where the ceremony is?"
"You're first time in a city and already lost? But Motostoke is big right?" Gloria nodded and Sonia smiled. "Not to worry. Sonia is here to show you around a bit."
"Thanks, Ms. Sonia." Gloria poltely smiled at the older woman. "Could you point out where we gotta go?"
Sonia hummed. "The Entrance ceremony huh? I get a bit worked up when I think how exciting and moving it was to actually stand on a stadium's pitch for the first time." Sonia smiled off thinking of an old memory most likely. She shook her head. "Anyways. Brilliant young trainer who braved the Wild Area! Do you remember what your goal in Motostoke is?"
"I'm here for the Gym Challenge!,"Gloria shouted determined smile on her face and Sonia nodded.
She nodded. "Yep! The Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony!" She pointed behind her at the busy street. You Guess since she once too here attending the Gym challenge with leon as kids she would know where it would be. "Use that lift over there to get to it K? OH! By the way the ceremony tomorrow is being held at the Motostoke Stadium ok?"
......You looked at Gloria. "There's a stadium here AND a second ceremony tomorrow??" Gloria shrugged at you.
"Well, laters!" She waved a hand at you two. "I'm going to swing by the shops while I'm here but don't forget to register at the Stadium,k?" Gloria nodded and Sonia went to tur- She stopped. "OH! I forgot. I got you a little something." Reaching into her coat pocket and fishing around, she pulled out what looked like at first glance some kind of training card before holding it out to Gloria who curiously accepted it...And her eyes WIDENED at it.
"NO!! WAY!!" She stared wide eyed between the card and Sonia. "Is this what I think it is!?"
She giggled. "Yep. I know Leon already sent myself and Hop a couple so I figured it would be the perfect start off to your own collection."
Gloria gave off a girly teen squeal and practically shoved it into your face making you blink. "OH MY MAGIKARP!! LOOK!! I GOT A LEAGUE CARD!!" You blinked and true to her word it was a card. And on it was a picture of Leon sitting down looking off somewhere. She smiled widely pulling it from your face. "Thanks so much So-...." She blinked. "Hey where'd she go?"
You shrugged. "I guess she left. Come on. We better get going."
She nodded ad the two of you made off for this lift at the end of the street. Along the way you guys passed a few stores. A flower shop, a cafe, a book store, a record shop, a barber shop, and another clothes shop. Once you two were at and on the lift....you became unsure again.
"Um. Now what?"
"I dunno..." Something caught her eye as she looked over and pointed. "hey what's that?"
"What's what?"
"This panel has a button." She pressed it.
"AH!!" You instantly fell to your bottom and Gloria grabbed onto the small pedestol as the lift suddenly lifted the two of you up and around, until it suddenly stopped again and you groaned. Pushing yourself up...and hearing a snicker. You shot a look to the teenager who was snickering behind her hand. "Nice to see you're still standing." You muttered pushing yourself up to your feet again and looking over, in front of the both of you was a giant building with glass doors, in front of the doors was two men in some kind of uniform and sunglasses like some bodyguard and some man with.....A Pokeball head?? Was waving to a few people passing by. A mascot maybe??.....You pointed at the building. "You think that's it or what?"
She went to answer but someone already beat here to it. "Gloria! Ms. Y/n!" Both of you looked over and Hop was making his way towards the two of you. "You made it too? "
You rubbed your aching back. "Yeah. Where are we?"
"Motostoke Stadium! This is where the Opening Ceremony will be held!" He exclaimed excitedly pointing to the large building behind him. "Everyone'll be watching the Opening Ceremony for the Gym Challenge! My mom, your mom, the whole world!! It's getting me a bit nervous really." He shook his head. "Naw. This isn't nerves. I'm only trembling because I'm so excited!"
"Well I say we go it and get registered before it gets too dark," Gloria suggested.
"You're right!" He turned back to the stadium still pointing. "Come on, Glory! It's time the world knows our names!"
As the three of you rolled up to the doors one of the two men standing in front of the door held one of their hands out in a clear stop motion in front of you trio.
"Can I see your sponsorship letters please?," He asked holding out his hand and Hop didn't hesitate to pull his out of his pocket and have the letter over to the man in the meantime Gloria had slung her backpack off her shoulders and went digging through it. You hoped she didn't forget it all the way back in Postwick. The security guard carefully examined the peice of paper in his hands. Running a hand across the red unbroken seal, holding it up to the light, and then taking a small device out of his pocket. A small green light came out and scanned it for a few seconds until there was a small ding from the machine and the man nodded before handing it back to him. "Head on inside and sign in Trainer. Next!" Saying a quick thanks Hop quickly snatched the letter back just as Gloria pulled out her own (thank goodness she still had it) and handed it to the man who repeated the same process from before before he too handed Gloria back hers and allowed her to go. But when you made a move to follow them he held another hand up. "Sorry, Ma'am. Only registered trainers, staff, and authorized personal are allowed inside. You'll have to wait out here. It's the rules."
You paused for a moment before looking at Gloria uncertain who smiled. "It's alright Y,n. Just wait for us out here ok? It shouldn't take too long. I mean we're just signing in!"
"Well...Alright if you say so." You gestured to a nearby bench. "I'll just wait for you two over there ok?"
They agreed and left you standing outside the stadium as they went inside. Not that you minded waiting of course. Your feet ached and your shoulders from carrying around your backpack all day, so plopping on the bench you gave your sore body a rest before slinging your pack off your shoulders. Your sobble had decided now would be a good time to fully crawl out of your pack from where its been hiding out this whole time and you let it climb on you when you placed your bag down with a sigh and leaned into the bench. FINALLY allowing yourself to rest for a while. You waited for a little while as people passed you, going up and down the lift and and streets as the body guards still stood there making sure no one entered without permission. A few teens Hop's age excited uncluding one boy with bright white fluffy hair and a long pink coat and you thought he looked rather grumpy. At one point you thought you heard a happy yell from somewhere but ignored it as it was probably a child playing somewhere. The sky slowly turning to a light pink as it got later in the day. Eventually the two did come back out but with what looked like white work out bands on their wrist that didn't have the dynamax bands on them. You waved at them as they walked right on over to you.....and with a second boy??
"Hey you two. Who do you got there?,' you asked gesturing to the boy on the other side of Gloria.
To which she smiled brightly and hugged him making you raise a brow. "Don't you recognize twins when you see them! IT'S VICTOR!!"
You stared at the young boy smiling at you. ........THIS WAS VICTOR!! The name of the male avator that you could pick in the game if you didn't chose Gloria to play instead. Looking at the young boy he still looked the same age as Gloria and Hop next to him even if he was a little taller than his twin. How did you not recognize it sooner? He had the same dark brown hair and light brown eyes as his sister and if they had the same haircut they would've looked the exact same (other than Victor's slightly taller hieght). He wore a grey beanie like hat, a red shirt with some logo on it, jeans, brown shoes, and carried what might as well been a giant suit case on his back. And a poloroid camera was slung in a similar fashion around his neck as he smiled at you. Gloria seemed very happy to see him as she excitedly gestured to him.
"Can you believe it!? After a whole year the mysterious photographer finally appeared after disappearing without a trace," she teased making her twin roll his eyes.
"It's nice to know you haven't changed. I wanted to surprise you after the text you sent me telling me Lee sponsored you but I didn't expect you to show up with more people." He turned back to you with a smile. "Greetings! You must be the new friend Gloria told me about. Thanks for saving her sorry butt from the Slumbering Weild. I always knew she'd get into trouble sooner or later without me."
"HEY!" A frown came over her face as she pouted. "I don't get into THAT much trouble! Besides I got here without a problem didn't I?"
He chose to ignore that and you took the chance to talk. "Nice to meet you too. Are you here for the Gym Challenge?"
He shrugged. "Yes and no. I'm here to take pictures of the events as they happen. It's been years since the last Gym Challenge and certainly going to be a long time until the next one after this year is over. But I'm not competing. Never had much interest in battles."
You could understand that. You never had much interest doing a couple things too.
"Y'know Lee had a sponsorship and starter pokemon all ready for you too." Gloria almost looked sad. ''You could've competed alongside us even if you didn't want to battle it would've been fun to have you around."
"Glory, then a Champion's sponsorship would've been wasted. It wouldn't be put to it's full potential. Although I am a bit upset I didn't have the chance to tell Leon myself, but I'm sure I'll be able to thank him later considering you'll be seeing more of me around here soon."
She gave her brother a confused look. "Whatcha mean?"
"I've decided to join Hop on this little adventure If he doesn't mind."
"Really!? That's awesome! Of course!" Hop was quick to agree with a friendly punch to Victor's shoulder. "Why wouldn't I want one of my greatest pals joining me while I write my legend? It'll be grand to have a traveling buddy of my own!"
"NO WAY!!" Gloria's large smile returned! "Oh this is great! We'll be able to see each other for a while more. I haven't been able to see you since you went on a journey last year so this is totally a win win for me in everyway!"
You nodded. "Oh. How'd the registry go?"
She waved a hand. "Oh y'know. We got our Challenger Bands we're apparently supposed to wear all the time so everyone knows we're a part of the registered trainers group. Our own League cards for the challenge. And we got to meet some of the rival trainers in there too! I liked the Sherry girl. She seemed really shy."
"I heard she was sponsored by the Gym Leader Milo but I can't be too sure," Victor replied before looking up at the sky. ".....But in any case I believe we should all head to Budew Drop Inn before the actual ceremony tomorrow." He turned to Gloria. "That way I can show you all the new pictures of pokemon I've gotten. You can use them for that dex challenge thing you told me about."
They turned and you nodded in agreement standing up and grabbing your bag, your sobble grabbing onto your bag as your hoisted it back over your shoulders and followed them guessing they must've known the way.
"By the way how many pictures of pokemon did you add to your collection?," Gloria asked glancing at her twin.
"Um." He made a thoughtful face. "Well let's see. Nessa's Aquarium has at least one of every water type pokemon...and with how many nature preserves I've stayed...and with the hundreds of tourists with different regions pokemon....and trading pictures with fellow photographers from different regions at the International Photographers Expo..........Six hundred thirty four different pokemon!"
There was silence for a moment.
"........WHAT?!"
The four of you made it down the street and over to the six story building that certainly looked like a fancy hotel. Along the way the children explained that the Chairman had not only endorsed as well but apparently paid the hotel in advance to allow all the trainers to stay the night before the actual ceremony took place the next day and the challengers were officially given the go ahead to start their journey. But a small surprise awaited the four of you yet in the hotel when you walked in and you looked around. There was a couple potted plants, two pairs of stairs leading up to another level with furniture, a sign in desk, and an elevator like a regular hotel but the thing your eyes were drawn to was the golden statue. It reminded you of those knights in ancient fairy tales. The golden man stood with his sword held up to the sky, a gleamering shield on his other arm in defense, and his face one of determination to not fail. Quite the craftsman ship. And standing right in front of it with a small yamper at her feet was-
"SONIA!" Gloria loudly greeted startling the poor lady and making her turn around.
Upon seeing who it was she sighed and smiled. "Oh it's just you guys. You gave me quite the jump scare there. But it looks like you both got yourselves registered." She nodded to the arm bands before her gaze drifted to Victor as she blinked. "....Oh. Hiya!  I don't think we've met."
"This is my brother, Victor. He's gonna be with Hop for a while. But what are you doing here? I thought you were going out to study."
"Yeah." Hop chimed in. "What are you doing at our hotel?"
"Oh!" She shifted the many shopping bags in her arms. Guess she did go shopping while here after all. "I'm researching the mysterious pokemon that are said to be in the Slumbering Weild. I reckon if I look into some of Galar's lengends I might figure something out. Care to join me?" She gestured to the statue. "You're here already anyways."
"SURE! It'd be fun!" She turned to you."Hey. Y/n new to Galar. I don't think she even knows the legends."
"That's perfect then! While you're doing that, Im gonna go stand in that long like up there and secure a spot for us ok?"
"But I-" You raised a hand as theVictor turned and walked away leaving you with sonia and the other two...and you sighed. "I don't think I was that way when I was fourteen."
Sonia chuckled. "We were all like that at one point or another. But would you like to hear one of the legends? A newbie to Galar like you might enjoy some foriegn tales."
"I'd like to hear too!"
You stared at her for a moment before shrugging. "Why not? I was just cast out from the little tribe."
She chuckled even more before she turned towards the statue. "Alright then. I'm sure you've seen the statue then.''
"Yeah." You rose a brow looking back up to the handsome man's golden face. "Who is he anyways?"
"It's a statue of the hero who once saved the Galar Region. I can run through the legend right quite if you fancy?" You nodded and that was all she needed to continue. "Long ago a great black storm covered the Galar Region." She gazed back to the statue. "People called it 'The Darkest Day'. The land was assaulted by gigantic pokemon but they were defeated by a single young hero bearing a sword and shield. This statue here is meant to depict the young hero of that legend. We still don't understand what kind of sword and shield the hero actually had. And what this 'black storm' is supposed to be is just another mystery. Whatever it was, it blotted all the skies across Galar. I suppse that tracks with it being 'the Darkest Day' but still..."
Hop blinked blinking at the golden statue's face and scratching his head. "Huh...I suppose that hero must've been about as strong as Lee then. Looks like you're going to have your hands full with plenty research though, Sonia. Black storms and swords and shields and all..."
"You'll be alright Sonia!"
She chuckled. "Heh. Thanks. I'll muddle through somehow. Don't you worry." She shook her head. "But legends aside. You three are staying at the hotel tonight though, right? Shouldn't you check in?"
"Probably so. Victor's holding our place in line." With a smiled similar to Leon he smiled widely at her. "And we'll look out for you too, Sonia! If we hear anything about any hero or whatnot we'll tell you!" Gloria nodded with a hum.
Sonia bowed her head in thanks to the two. "Thanks so much. Even if you don't find anything the thought's appreciated." As the kids said good byes and walked around her to a stair case you paused as she lifted her head and gazed at you. "I hope you enjoyed my little tale."
You smiled and nodded. "Yes. It was really entertaining. Thanks for telling me."
She nodded. "And thanks for taggin' along with the kids this far. I know we're practically strangers but there's just....I don't know....really good aura about you." You chuckled. You? Really good aura? That certainly was a first. "I'm sure Lee appreciates it too. He's always so worried about Hop. He practically raised him after all-" All of a sudden it was like a switch flipped off in her mind and her happy smile went to a sudden shocked face. "Oh no. I didn't mean to mention that. Please forget I even said that."
Your brow rose confus- "Y/N! C'MON! We got our room key already!"
You looked up to Gloria's call before back to Sonia before waving good bye and leaving. Wondering what the heck that was all about. Oh well. You had bigger things to worry about- Like the the fact that the three kids had gotten into a fight with four punk rockers!! You had just walked up the stairs and instantly was face to face with the three teenagers up in the faces of four people who dressed in black and red from their face paint to their outfits shouting something about they're going to cheer someone on and no one could stop them. You couldn't tell between the seven people shouting at one another and the front desk clerk trying to calm them down. THANK GOODNESS FOR THE YOUNG GIRL WHO STOPPED IT ALL!! She walked up the stairs and stopped next to your shocked state. A look of shock coming over her own face for a moment before she sighed and that snapped you out of your trance long enough for you to look at her. She was a teenager same around the same age as the other children with black hair tied back in two ponytails by red ribbon, a pink dress, with a black leather jacket and boots.
"What are you lot doin' here?" She had asked in what sounded what a brittish accent but you were sure Britain wasn't a thing in this world. Instantly the fighting stopped from the punk rockers as the they looked to her shocked like a couple toddlers caught taking candy. One shouted what you assumed was her name. Marnie you thought? As they stuttered out excuses. "I know you all are terribly curious 'bout the other gym challengers, but you gotta show a bit of restraint." Well it was nice of her to settle them down before she apologized. "Sorry 'bout them. They're just a bunch of my fans. Call themselves Team Yell and follow me around. cheerin' for me. I think they've let it all go to their heads a bit.....Come on you lot. Back home with you now!" She sighed as they guiltily slunk away past you down the stairs. "They're just so caught up with wantin' to support me and all that they tend to get a bit shirty with other Gym Challengers. Sorry if they caused you any trouble."
With that she simply walked past the lot of you, got her room key, and just walked away like it never even happened. You were still in a bit of shock but shook it off in favor of getting to the room you'd be bunking in with Gloria and have a small break from today. The inner workings weren't too different from the hotels you've been to before and was more than eager to plop yourself down and have a rest. The rest of the afternoon was a blur. At one point all three kids were sitting around the bed helping sort through Victor's collection of photos and helping Gloria glue in quite a lot of them into that small book of theirs. Hop mentioned about calling room service and Gloria suggested the four of you order each a different curry to help her fill in a bit of her curry challenge book as well. Which you had no problem against. It was free room service and you were interested in trying some of this world's curry since it was supposed to be world famous as Sonia told you. You ended up randomly chosing Sweet Curry as someone phoned it to the front desk and waited for it too arrive. It was pretty good. But it wasn't too different from Mrs. G's curry you had tasted other than the sauce on the rice tasted a mildy hot enough to be sweet. Of course that didn't stop Gloria was taking your curry's picture along with Hop's that had a massive egg in what was call a bitter boiled egg curry, Gloria's was a dry smoked tail curry(you hoped that wasn't an actual tail, and you think Victor's was leek curry with some kind of veggies decorating the plate. You ended up letting your sobble finish what food was leftover after you ate and soon you two found yourselves bidding the two boys good night and went to finally rest for the night. After getting a quick shower you decided it was best to go to bed since the actual Ceremony was tomorrow. Gloria had gotten the bed and you borrowed the sleeping bag Mrs. G had given Gloria. As the darkness slowly consumed your vision as your eyelids drooped you vauguly regstered your sobble climbing on one of the shelves.
.........
CRASH!!
Both of you were startled away in the dark from a giant crash and a couple panicked chirps before you were tackled by an invisible spooked sobble burrowing under your arm as Gloria turned on the lamp to reveal the pokemon's mess.
"Y/n! Your sobble knocked over the shelf!"
"Uuuuuuhhhhh!!!"

𝐚𝐧: me? back w/ fluff? it’s expected at this point! his speech is hard for me to replicate, but I rly do love Kazunari so I hope I did this scenario justice! I, uh, got too excited at the prospect of “insta mutuals” oops~ hope you don’t mind the additional media TT
Tumblr media
The Insta notification that popped up on the top of your screen distracted you from the game you were playing. Normally you’d flick the notif away, but as soon as you realised what it was about, you rushed to finish the rest of the stage.
Tumblr media
You and Kazunari have been Insta Mutuals for nearly a year now, ever since he hit you with a follow and you proceeded to stalk his readily-available socials.
The two of you had been liking and commenting on each others’ posts for weeks on end, starting off with you praising his most recent graphic design work to him sending a paragraph of heart emojis on the most recent fan art you drew.
Somewhere in between following each others’ spam accounts to tagging each other on Insta story games, he finally slid into your DMs and the rest was history. Sort of.
You knew what people said about online dating, or even just long distance relationships in general, but try as you might it was hard not to fall for Kazunari.
The more you talked to him, the less he stayed as your “funny artist mutual” and soon enough he progressed into the “still funny but also really sweet and cute artist online friend, 10/10 would date if asked” category.
You didn’t bother stifling your laugh as you looked at the message he sent you, immediately liking his selfie before saving it on your phone.
Tumblr media
Okay, no. He can’t just hit you with an “I do wanna meet u already” and then take it back but not fully commit to it!
You waited for him to respond through text, but instead got hit by your ringtone blaring loudly at such an ungodly hour. At the sight of your contact nickname for him, you eagerly answered his call. You rushed to get the first word in, him doing the same unbeknownst to you.
“Kazu-“
“Babe, I-“
The both of you paused, his eventual laughter easing up your tension as you let out a giggle of your own. You mentally told yourself not to be so nervous— Kazunari and you would have this conversation eventually anyway; besides, it wasn’t as if you didn’t want to see him in person. It was quite the opposite, actually. You just figured that conversations like this needed to happen in call, at least.
“Shoot, should probs shut up so Mukkun doesn’t wake up,” Kazunari commented, his voice volume already lowered, “do you wanna go first?” He asked.
“Yeah,” you replied with resolve. You gathered up your thoughts, formulating the next set of sentences that would leave your mouth, before ultimately deciding on one question. “I just need to know first… how serious were you about meeting up irl?”
“I mean, that wasn’t what I meant when I sent the message? But like, it’s still valid, you know?” he paused, but when you didn’t say anything he decided to continue, “it’s not the first time I’ve thought about meeting you. I think about it a lot, actually.”
It was a bit of a shame the two of you chose to voice call instead of video call. You would’ve loved to see your boyfriend’s face just about now, though you supposed it wouldn’t be a good idea to have a heart attack a quarter to 4 in the morning.
Plus, you weren’t sure you could handle him teasing and throwing compliments at you due to your clearly visible elation, if the upwards stretch of your lips was anything to go by.
“Babe? You still there? Did you pass out, or…” In reality it had only been a few seconds, but still you didn’t want to leave him hanging. Not when the two of you were talking about something that meant taking the next step in your relationship.
“I’m still here, Kazu,” you reassured him. Your voice shook slightly, a sliver of your excitement slipping through the cracks. “I’m the same. Like, no lie I was shocked we brought it up like this, but, um… I’m ready, and if you’re ready, too, I want to meet up with you.”
“Wait, wait, wait— hol’ up! So we’re finally going—“ he laughed for the second time tonight, a fuzzy-wuzzy warmth escaping as its sound equivalent. “Wahh! Of course I’m ready! Can’t wait to finally see what a cutie you are irl♪ Hngg, how am I supposed to sleep now? I’m too hyped up!”
You rolled your eyes, despite understanding exactly how he felt. His infectious cheerfulness amplified the blossoming commotion occurring inside your brain. Despite not making any official plans yet, the prospect of finally meeting up had you frenzied.
Still, one of you had to be at least slightly responsible. While you wouldn’t claim to know his daily schedule, if Veludo Arts was anything like your university, he should be as swamped with workload as you were. Actually, maybe that was the reason he was up so late? That’s how it was for you, anyway excluding the fact that you took a break to stamina clear.
“It’s nearly 4 am… do you wanna continue planning this tomorrow? Err, rather, in a couple hours? After our lectures end, maybe?” You asked, though by the tiny whine Kazunari let out you had a feeling he wasn’t going to agree so quickly.
“Ehh? Why don’t we do it now? I have so many ideas about where we could go, and what we could do… oh! I could introduce you to everyone in Mankai! I’m sure they’d love-“
“I’d love to meet them too,” you cut him off, tone as firm as you could manage at this time, “and I want to hear your ideas, really, but I just know if I let you keep talking the sun will rise before we’ve even decided on a date.”
You chuckled as Kazunari let out a sound of protest, though you had a feeling he knew you weren’t wrong about your assessment. “Zuzu~ Let’s go to sleep now, okay?”
His phone microphone picked up on an audible gasp. “Ehh, how come you rarely call me Zuzu? It’s cute when you say it!”
“Because it sounds like a nickname you’d give to a Pokemon!”
“Uwu, maybe I’ll get Itarun to lend me a copy? Then I’ll catch the cutest Pokemon and name it after you~” you nearly groaned at how fluffy he was being. Seriously, he was distracting you from your agenda of going to sleep!
“Kazu! Stop flirting with me at 4 am or we might not fall asleep!”
Though you couldn’t see him, you were 200% sure he had a wide grin plastered on his face right now. “Me? Using tactics to get you to keep talking with me? Never,” he claimed, professing his false innocence.
“Well, I’m not falling for it! I may not be able to physically tuck you in bed right now, but I can in spirit!”
“Oh!? Then can you give me a goodnight kiss in spirit, too?”
At this point, you were sure that even with just a poke on the cheek you’d be able to feel the heat beginning to envelop your face.
As Kazunari finished laughing, you let the quiet lull of the night seep in the conversation for a few moments before gently breaking it.
“I’d rather give you a kiss irl, though.”
And just like that, you claimed victory over the game he started. With how Kazunari sputtered, a part of you worried that he’d disturb his roommate’s slumber. Still, an even bigger part of you was smug to have him speechless for that much of a duration.
“Babeeeee,” he drawled, “you’re so, so, so unfair… I, like, really want to hold you tight right now…” he murmured, the rustle of his bedsheets discernible through the call. You found yourself nestling onto your bed, too, snuggling up to a soft pillow.
“Soon,” you suddenly yawned, your tiredness seeming to have settled in the comfier you got on the bed. “We’ll have a lot of time to plan tomorrow and the days after, yeah?”
Kazunari let out a hum in agreement, a comfortable silence following suit.
“Kazu?” You muttered quietly, careful not to disturb your peaceful atmosphere.
“Yeah?”
“I love you. Good night,” you said, heart aflutter as you heard his response.
“I love you, too, cutie~ sweet dreams♪” he said in an unbelievably soft tone, before ending the call.
After quickly connecting your phone to a charger, you fell back atop your bed and hugged your pillow tight, already anticipating the day you’d be able to hold Kazunari in your arms, and you in his.
Morning come, you hastily prepared for class as you always did. You fell into your usual routine— as soon as you were out of the bathroom, you selected an outfit and went over the things you needed to bring to uni today.
You stopped for a minute; taking a quick selfie to post on your story and emphasise your exhaustion to your close friends, before making yourself some breakfast. Within less than 5 minutes, your phone pinged— a recorded message from one of your favourite people this early in the morning.
"Mornin' piko☆ You're looking cute as always today♪”
There was no way you would admit to how many times you replayed it to Kazunari, but even so it was a good way to keep you positive for the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
You don’t remember Veludo Way being this rowdy, though it was hard to trust your memory when it’s probably been years since you’ve last visited. Somehow, it was not tough to imagine Kazunari walking around and performing here— the liveliness of the streets difficult to not associate with one of the liveliest people you knew.
While the original plan was to meet up at a cute and trendy cafe you saw all over people’s SNS, the two of you agreed to meet up somewhere less crowded and more meaningful to him— the theatre which he’d performed at multiple times in the past.
As you saw the building from a distance, you wondered when you’d be able to see him on stage, too.
A shout of your name pulled you out of your thoughts, and you couldn’t help yourself from running over to meet up faster with the figure that was jumping and waving around in your direction.
Had you any sense left, you probably would have told him that you didn’t want him embarrassing himself in public, but in reality it was quite apparent that you were just as excited to finally see him in person.
“Kazunari!” you can’t help the little shriek you let out as you finally embrace him, only joyous laughter and each others’ names escaping the both of your lips. When you finally got a good look at Kazunari, you nearly wanted to bury yourself into his shirt again.
Everything still seemed so unbelievable. That this was real. That it was finally happening. It almost felt like the dreams you’ve had of this moment many times before.
“How are you so beautiful in person, too?! It’s totes like I’m falling in love with you again♪” Kazunari exclaimed, squeezing you one more time before finally settling on holding hands with you. “Ahh! I super, duper love you!”
Except it wasn’t. There was nothing imaginary about his warmth, and the way his words made you feel, and the beaming sunshine of a smile he aimed at you.
“I love you, too!”

Quarantine, Day 149
August 7
I've been too busy or distracted for the last few days to properly inundate you all with kitten pictures, but that ends now! You have been warned! Today I had lights and a fully charged phone and the will to use them, so you are going to feel the wrath of this fully armed and operational cat lady. I am also posting this during first dinnertime, so my background music is tiny Katara making improbably loud smacking noises while she eats babycat food mixed with warm water.
Tumblr media
Clockwise from top left: Zuko, Sokka, Katara, Aang
Now that the kittens are debugged and down to about 30% of their original hissiness levels, they are ready for cuddle times. Zuko won the best cuddler award today by actually purring when I picked him up, so he is my current favorite. Sokka needs his nails trimmed very badly, Katara is picking up the hissing slack for her unacceptably trusting brothers, and Aang has finally started using the litterbox but cries when he poops. (This is not uncommon for kittens who are first learning to go unstimulated, but I'm going to keep an eye on him to make sure he's not constipated.)  Four weeks is a very fun age, so this should be a good kitten week, knock on wood. They are all eating well and don't need a bottle, which makes my life way easier.

Katara still thinks I might be planning on eating her. She is the size of my hand but will go down hissing all the same.
It is just as well that these guys are weaned because the MPRE snuck right up on me. I started studying a couple weeks ago, but there's always so much to do. BARBRI's MPRE study program is funny because it's basically a taste test of their bar review program for the 2L students who typically sit for the MPRE. It's set up exactly like the bar review course, but where the typical bar review lecture is 2-3 hours, these lectures are about 15-20 minutes and each one covers a discrete subtopic of professional responsibility. Altogether, they are maybe just a little bit longer than the professional responsibility lecture I listened to for the bar review back in February. (Many states do not include PR on their bar exam at all because of the MPRE, but Virginia has more testable subjects than any other state and throws that one in as well, so I got a module on it.) In any case, I have been listening to these little bite sized lectures and doing the learning questions, then looking at the outline, then moving on. I plan to have all the modules done by tomorrow, then spend the weekend doing the three practice tests, sixty questions each. All three practice tests together are not as long as the bar exam practice test! I keep reminding myself that even though the subject matter is limited and I've covered the material many times before, I have to take it seriously. It would be both inconvenient and extremely embarrassing to pass the bar exam and fail the fucking MPRE at this late date. I'm also going to have to take at least one of those practice tests with a mask on, bleah.
Ha, I have successfully tricked the kittens out of sleeping in their yucky litterbox (they are too young for nice clumping litter because they might eat it) by offering them a decoy litterbox with a towel in it. Cats do love boxes!
Tumblr media
(Sokka is behind the box, he is so fuzzy I cannot get him in focus for a solo picture.)
The kiddo and I went to the library today for the first time since March! It only opened on Wednesday and there were very few people there, but they'd arranged it so there's lots of open space and a counter right by the front where a friendly guy offered us hand sanitizer and reminded us about social distance. We were finally able to turn in March's library books, which had fine amnesty thank God, and snagged some new stuff. I wasn't feeling creative so I took advantage of the lack of patrons to snag a couple of newer Nora Roberts books, the kind that are usually hard to get hold of. I read a funny meme the other day of "2020 As Described by Nora Roberts Books" that showed Happily Ever After for January, Storm Warning for February, and then seven copies of Shelter In Place for March through August. The kiddo got a couple of graphic novels and also picked out two books with no pictures at all after I promised I'd get him a magnifying glass if he wanted it. Kiddo is farsighted and has glasses to read, but he may need a new prescription. I should get on that.
Okay, knowing myself as I do, I took a brief break there to order some cheap little sheet magnifiers off Amazon because I try to keep my promises. It is hard when you are very forgetful, but I try! Not too much else to report today, oh, except I went into my primary doctor's office for the first time in many months. It was for a heat rash, of all things, but I just couldn't get it to go away! I could probably have done it online, but when it's a rash it's kind of easier to just go in there than to try and find the right light and the phone with the best camera, and this way I don't have a lot of weird pictures of my armpit for posterity. She gave me a steroid cream prescription and it is starting to feel better already.
While I was getting the prescription filled, I got way, way too excited about the electronics clearance at Rite Aid and bought fifty dollars worth of stuff. (By Rite Aid's calculation it was 200 dollars worth of stuff because I spent 50 and saved 150, but you know how their prices are.) In any case, I got two wall chargers and a car charger, two sets of earbuds, a stereo headset with microphone  for virtual school, and the piece de resistance, a waterproof Bluetooth speaker that also has a multicolored light display. The kiddo is in love already and I hope it encourages him to more frequent showering. My 50 also bought me some melatonin gummies, some multivitamin gummies, a bag of chocolate snacky stuff, and two packs of Magic: the Gathering decks that the kiddo was distinctly underwhelmed by. He likes Pokemon cards so much despite not having the first idea how to play, I thought these might be good too. I'll set them aside in case he gets interested later. I am pretty sure that four dollars apiece is not bad for 60 card decks, even if they are planeswalker themed. Anyway it was a nice haul and now I can stop bitching at everyone and no-one every time I can't find a wall charger to plug into. A small price to pay for peace of mind! (And the cream itself cost $2.19, so at least I can feel a little good about our truly exorbitant health insurance this week.)

Shattered, Part 9
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Midquel - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9- Part 10 - Part 11 - Part 12 the end
⚠️WARNING!⚠️
*A twisted story of Pokemon Sword and Shield, with Leon as main character. *Lots of fanons. *Everything is headcanon. *It isn’t spoiler free. *It includes death of a character. *SUPER ANGSTY.
Tumblr media
"Wow, it's Leon!"
"So cool, so cool!"
"Welcome."
"Hello, Leon!"
Leon was caught off guard. It was surely not the sight he was expecting to see. I mean, he already felt that it would be something weird, considering a strange combination of Gordie, Milo, and Piers inviting him over for a sleepover at Circhester Town. But he never ever expected 6 younger children would greet him.
Tumblr media
"Umm... Hi?"
Leon smiled awkwardly, asking with eyes to three inviters what was going on.
Tumblr media
"Oh, sorry for calling you out of blue. You see, my mother was going for a Gym Leader meeting elsewhere so I had to call for help to take care of these babies together! My sister and I are short in hands." Gordie chuckled bashfully.
"So I came to help!" Milo beamed from ear to ear.
"And urr... Marnie and I came to lend a hand as well."
Finally, Piers added.
"Okay..."
Leon wore an awkward face. He would never know why his mother readily allowed him to come here. Maybe she felt safe because there are three Gym Leaders and his pokemons to take care of him?
Tumblr media
Despite Leon feeling much better now, the children were much energetic than he imagined. They were climbing up and down the furniture, were running around the whole garden playing tag with each other, pulled Leon's long hair, and stuck some stickers on his cheek(Gordie had to stop the kids). Leon stacked blocks and played hero vs villain for them. For those moments of playing, Leon felt strange. It was another jumbled up feeling twinging from within.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The feeling grew the most intense when Leon saw Marnie together with Piers. Since Marnie was the same age as Hop, it overlapped so much with...
_______________________________________
"Well, that's what we call a whole day!"
Milo smiled, as they see the little ones all tucked in the bed sleeping.
"I cannot thank all of you enough. I could never have done it without your help!" Gordie beamed.
"Welp... I am so drained." Piers complained because he was pestered the most by kids due to his eye-catching appearance.
"........."
Leon didn't say anything. He was still processing his emotions gained from the experience.
Tumblr media
"Say, now that all the kids are in bed, how about we have some long overdue chat while enjoying some tea?"
"Tea sounds fantastic!" Milo smiled and agreed.
"If there's anything to relax, I am sold..." Piers said with a drained voice while turning his left shoulder.
"Well, if everyone wants it why not?"
Leon felt like his emotions might hinder him, but he reluctantly joined in.
Tumblr media
"There. Cream and sugar?"
Gordie asked after pouring tea in Leon's cup.
"Just some sugar, thanks."
"So... How was today?"
Milo worriedly asked Leon, who was putting two cubes of sugar and stirring his tea.
Tumblr media
"Huh?"
Leon stopped the stirring and looked up.
"You haven't noticed anything? You're quite clueless, aren't cha?"
Piers sighed and shook his head.
Still looking lost, Leon stared at Gordie, Milo, and Piers in turns. Then he noticed something.
"Oh."
Tumblr media
Leon realized that everyone here is 'older brothers'. The only difference was that Leon lost his, while others still have.
"Mr. Kabu asked us to talk with you. He said since we have younger siblings, we might sympathize with your pain better..."
Oh, Mr. Kabu. Always considerate.
"I see..." Leon said shortly, but the silence quickly devoured four of them.
"I am so sorry for your loss."
After a while, Gordie broke the silence.
"I was dying to say this to you but didn't know when would be a perfect time. I know that you were in no mood to hear us."
"Thanks," Leon replied gently.
Leon was even more relieved, realizing there are more people to solace him other than Raihan and Mr. Kabu.
Tumblr media
A whole hour passed by so quickly with some cups of tea. Leon didn't realize he was talking his emotions to his friends. Maybe the fact that they are all in the same position as older brother opened up his mind easier.
"Yeah, it sure is subsided now, but the memories from that day just pop up at random moment and tortures me..."
Leon sighed.
"It's like contradicting emotions swirling in me towards my brother. I hate him so much when it comes to how he left me so ruthlessly, but then... I..."
That was as far as Leon could go. His emotions disturbed his speaking again.
Tumblr media
"I bet it is called ambivalence,"
said, Piers.
"I may not be an expert or anything, but I think that's what it is... But let me ask you... Do you seriously hate your brother?"
Leon looked up, completely caught off guard.
"I mean... Surely there must be great memories too like happy, heart-warming, joyful moments."
"There are..." Leon bit his lips to continue.
"So many, actually."
"...Why don't you tell us?"
Tumblr media
So Leon started to tell everyone endless happy memories of their brotherhood. The first encounter, the first day Hop toddled to him, the time when they played together at the back yard, how Hop's voice always soothed him whenever he was down, fighting to retain the Champion's spot... It was surely a short memory because Leon became Champion when he was young. However, it sure was such a beautiful piece of time embroidered in his life. Came to think of it, Leon forgot about all that for such a long time now. His heavy shoulders as Champion made him forget about it and then the unwilling farewell blinded him.
"That was beautiful..." Milo said, all ready to cry.
"Yeah... It sure is." Leon sighed.
"How was it telling us all this?" asked Piers.
Leon had to think hard to come up with the word to describe his feeling at the moment.
"I know it sounds crazy, but I felt... cozy? And a little easy too. Funny, isn't it? Feeling cozy for talking about my brother who passed away..."
Tumblr media
"No, it just shows that you still love him so much."
With Piers's words, something sparkled in Leon.
"Yes, your brother wounded you, but is that everything that is left of your brother's life? Just like you told us, he gave you a lot of loving moments too. I personally think your memories with Hop is much more valuable to just conclude with a mere bad ending. That will just push you to bear a grudge on your beloved brother and that is not so hot. I bet that's what's causing you to agonize... You love him but keep fighting to get angry at him."
The words hit Leon hard.
Tumblr media
"Can I be honest with you too...?"
Milo started carefully.
"I might be jumping to conclusions, but you looked so happy when you were taking care of our younger siblings. It seems like it's still inside of you. The good memories."
No. Milo wasn't surmising. He was right. Leon felt really happy, taking care of the young ones. He didn't know why he was feeling jumbled up earlier. He was cozy for taking care of the younger sibling in a long while, but his mind was refusing to admit it.
"You're right..." Leon smiled gently.
"Because of sadness, I almost forgot how much I loved him..."
Tumblr media
Gordie stroked his back.
"I guess it isn't a good idea to keep trying to forget about your brother... As an older brother, I know how my siblings are important to me. I know he meant so much to you too, and forgetting him is like forgetting that much of yourself. I'm scared it would break you, Remember, despite he made the worst choice, he still presented you with the priceless name of 'brother'."
Part of myself...
Leon thought.
Gordie was absolutely right. He cannot deny that ever since their first encounter, Leon was stuck with Hop like glue. It was Hop's smile that supported Leon when he was feeling low. Erasing Hop would be denying all the support he gave him. It would be denying all the love, joy, and precious memories they shared. A simple misstep on the way of parting isn't enough to throw all that in a garbage can.
Tumblr media
"Embrace it. If you're ready, that is. Cherish the legacy that your brother left behind. I bet Hop would also want you to move on."
Leon could feel the empty space of his heart filling up. Leon finally returned to a whole after accepting back the part of him that he pushed away. Did he really try to push Hop out of his life when he meant this much to him?
Tumblr media
Leon wore another smile of relief. It was okay to long for his brother. Thank god. It felt even better because it was 'older brothers' who told him that.
____________________________________
"I hope my son isn't too much trouble."
Meanwhile, at Victor's home in Postwick, three moms were gathering.
"Not at all! Gordie loves having visitors around. And I'm sure your son would make a lovely guest!"
"...Your son and other gym leaders are doing so much for my son."
Leon's mother sighed deeply.
"When his mother can't do anything for him."
"Nonsense!" Victor's mom started.
"I'm 100% sure that your very existence is great support for your son. I mean, you are working so hard to stay as the strong mom for him, right? That's enough. You're doing so well, honey."
"I agree," Melony added.
"The pain you're going through... I bet it is extremely intense. The fact that you bear all that and look after your son alone is amazing. So share that burden with us. We're more than ready."
Tumblr media
With what they say, Leon's mom burst out crying.
It was a long night for both mother and son.

Some of you guys may remember awhile back (but not THAT long ago) that I was kind of losing my shit because The Spawn was neglecting her dog duties that she agreed to do with my dad when Indie was brought into our household. Yeah? No? Eh, either way I have an update on that.
Just a small recap for anyone who doesn’t remember or is new here (I’m still pretending that people actually read this like... for realsies): Way back in August I said no to The Spawn bringing home a dog 5 seperate times because I knew how it would end up. Then she went to my dad, who is soft, and my dad told me that he said yes, but under certain terms and conditions. (TERMS: The Spawn was to handle all expenses related to said dog, would handle all care, training, and exercise needs and at no point was responsibility for the creature to be put on me at all because I had already unwillingly taken on responsibility for Bailey via him bringing her home and I don’t need more.) I laughed and said “Yeah... sure.”
end of Sept we noticed something was wrong with pup’s left front leg. After numerous vet visits and lots of funds, Indie was put on one room, no jumping, no running restrictions from early Oct until the first week of December because her shitbag previous owner had broken that leg in 2 places and while it had almost entirely healed, it had clearly not been treated because one break was at her elbow growth plate, causing her elbow to grow out sideways. So there was an orthopedic operation to remove the already present buildup that causes arthritis, then shave down some bone and pin her elbow back together.
Since December, The Spawn has been HARDCORE slacking off on her duties to exercise the pup, who as a rat terrier/chaos demon mix has an abundance of energy that if not properly channeled and expelled, leads to significant criminal activity. The Spawn was taking her for a 30 min walk MAYBE 3 times a week and not doing any other play. Meanwhile, my broken down ass was trying to make up for it by walking her or doing HOURS of laser hunting and fetch. Dad tried to help by walking her with Bailey every night, but about 4 weeks ago that ended with him getting a broken rib because the girls saw a cat before he did and he didn’t have time to brace himself. He has been publicly banned from walking the little one.
RECAP DONE.
So me supplementing has been really wearing on me. The entire reason I don’t personally have any pets (despite very much wanting a bunny or a couple rat friends) is that I don’t have the energy to be responsible for their care. So for the last few months, every 2 weeks or so, I break down to dad, ranting and crying about how I can’t keep doing this and that he allowed this to happen, so it’s his problem and he needs to fix it like... NOW because if it continues, I’m going to get involved and I will not be nice. As in every day that she doesn’t exercise the dog properly, she will lose her tv for a day. No entertainment for her dog means no entertainment for her. He kept saying “no no no I’ll do it.” then not fucking doing it.
2 days ago, I broke. No ranting. No anger. Just broken sobs. It’s just too much. He promised AGAIN to talk to her. Well yesterday there was an incident that was the last straw for him I guess.
While he was at work, The Spawn went to walk Indie. When she does walk Indie, once for 30 mins, she’s been implementing training to get her to be better behaved on the walks because Indie suffers from barrier aggression. When on the leash, behind the fence that surrounds our yard, or behind the windows inside the house, if she sees another dog walk by she loses it. Hell when getting them ready for walks, once she is on leash, she will lose her shit on Bailey. SO The Spawn has been filling her hoodie pouch with treats and before they even leave, they go to the door, The Spawn says “Sit. Wait...Wait...” with the intent of Indie sitting until the door is open. Eventually there will be a command involved that gives Indie the all clear to get up and head out.
So they go through that yesterday around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. They depart for their walk around the neighborhood and within a few minutes I hear Indie’s “I’m losing my shit” bark/snarl combo and The Spawn yelling commands at her. A minute or two later, The Spawn storms in with Indie in tow and says “Well since she decided she can’t behave, we aren’t walking today.” And I looked at her skeptically from across the room because dogs don’t work like that AND exercise is not a privilege for dogs, it’s a necessity. So not walking her because she misbehaved would be on par with me not allowing The Spawn dinner because she misbehaved. Then, seeing my face, The Spawn says “She needs to learn that there are consequences for her actions.”
Y’ALL. I involuntarily laughed, so I had to turn away from her and pretend I was coughing. Let’s talk about why I find this hilarious. This statement came from a 16 yr old child who a few weeks ago was asked to watch the dogs for a couple hours while I went to grandma’s to help her with something. I had been reminding her DAILY for a week that this was happening. As I expected, she tried to weasel out of it. I told her that it wasn’t up for discussion, she was doing it, and that I had phrased it as a question as a courtesy. She began to argue. I told her 3 times over the span of an hour that if she didn’t stop arguing that there would be consequences. She chose to continue, so she found herself grounded from her tv and car for the day. (At the end of that hour and after 3 warnings, all via text and verifiable, I finally just told her to bring me her keys. She chose, instead, to come downstairs, empty handed, and CONTINUE to argue, so she lost the tv too.) She threw a massive tantrum which ended with her screaming and crying to my dad about how abusive and mean I am. *insert eyeroll from both of us*  All over, what? The consequences of her own actions.
So you see why this was funny. Anyway, I let her go upstairs and text dad that we needed to talk when he arrived and to text me so I could meet him out in the garage.
I met him out there and relayed the events to him. He also involuntarily laughed about the dog needing to learn that her actions have consequences. Then he said “Ok, I’m talking to her tonight.”
Now, my dad has a signature move for when he has to have tough or unpleasant conversations. He says “Let’s go get ice cream.” I think it’s meant to soften the blow while also catching the person off guard and being in public for less chance of a scene.
Anyway, they talked. The overall gist was “we made a deal. the deal is not being upheld. Bailey is a much lower energy dog but still requires 2 seperate 4 mile walks a day, and your high energy PUPPY is getting 1/4 of that at best on most days and your mom and I have been picking up the slack as best we can but that has resulted in a broken rib for me and your mom is really at the end of her rope and has been unable to actually rest for a full couple days like she needs to recover from all the random shit she does for you like covering kettle corn and berries in chocolate.”
The Spawn tried to make excuses. “I’m in school full time AND working.” My dad responded with: “First of all, you aren’t in school full time because you do 2 hrs a day in person and then another hour online AT MOST 5 days a week, then work 4-6 hrs at night 4 days a week. Second of all, I work 13 hrs a day 5 days a week and yet I still find a way to make sure my dog’s needs are met via a 4-6 mile walk before work and another in the evening after dark, unless your mom is up to pokemon in the park, which Bailey comes with us for and gets significantly more walks. So that excuse is b.s.”
She mentioned that she tried that day but she misbehaved. dad told her that no matter how she is behaving, walks are not negotiable. Then he used my dinner analogy. She finally gave up trying to make excuses to be lazy and told him that on days she doesn’t have both work and school she will do 2 hrs worth of walks. (I mentioned to dad that this leaves 3 days a week where she is implying she doesn’t have to do anything. he said he will address that but not that night.)
To her credit, The Spawn has done 2 hour long walks today. She even came up with a plan. The first half of each is structured walk/training time and the second half will be at the dog park across the street so that she has unstructured running time where she can get up to full speed. Keeps her from getting frustrated and bored on the walk and allows her to get full speed runs in without killing The Spawn’s knees.
We shall see how this holds up long term. Fingers crossed and all that.

A Heartstone Birthday
I knew that my birthday this year was gonna feel.....at least a little bit empty. It hasn’t been BAD so far, but I haven’t been able to shake away that feeling as I look back to where I was last year compared to this year. I think back to those I celebrated with, and.....it hurts.
And.....I don’t wanna hurt. Or force people to pay attention to me. But I also wanted to do something special. So, I decided to do something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, but kept putting off for months: My return to Heartstone.
The last time I’ve played this game was.....September, I think? I didn’t WANNA be away for so long, but between mental health stuff and Splatoon 2 taking priority when I WAS in the mood for games due to Splatfests.....I just kept procrastinating on a game I DO really enjoy. I guess another part of the equation is the stress of trying to remember what I was doing, too. That’s a pretty big reason why I wasn’t interested in AC until this game.
So.....yeah, I’ve missed a LOT......the big things I really regret missing are Halloween, Toy Day, and New Year’s. Especially Toy Day, if that’s anything like it was in New Leaf. But, although it stings, I just gotta suck it up and wait until, uh....this year. Muuuuuuch later this year, ugh.....why do I suck at playing this game!? XD
But at LEAST I didn’t miss my birthday. And, yeah, this was a good day to return on, because it was really cute! And also a bit more interactive than I expected.
Tumblr media
Scoot took me to his house, where I celebrated with him, Hazel, and Margie. I think that means that these are the villagers I’m closest with? And I’m happy about that! And also not really surprised. Scoot and Hazel were my starting villagers, and I just really adore Margie and have given her a lot a gifts. XD
Tumblr media
After blowing out the candles and receiving my present from them (an entire birthday table!), here’s the part I wasn’t expecting - I got to hit a pinata around! O__O That’s....new! And inside were.....cupcakes? I don’t think those are the kinda treats you should really put in a pinata.....but whatever, I like it! The only downside to the event was that.....that was a really cute pinata, so I felt bad about breaking it! =<
I absolutely love the whole cupcake thing, though! I love how you go around giving them to the villagers you didn’t celebrate with, so everyone has a bit of the party! Also, it gave me an excuse to catch up with everyone after so long, heh....Most of their presents were clothes I wouldn’t wear (I’d never sell them, though!), but one of them got me a winter hat that I decided to put on, cuz.....winter. It’s green, which I don’t like as much as blue and black, but it’s still cute and would go with a black winter coat just fine.
(Guess what? Pietro was thinking of moving away.....Like Alastor would say: HA, no! Like I’d let one of my villagers go on the same day I came back! And especially not him! XD)
Sadly, however, there weren’t enough cupcakes for everyone, which....I really think there should have been? It just feels kinda wrong to leave one villager out....For me, it was poor Deli, who I saw last. And eating’s his thing, too.....And he told me he missed me! I feel bad....I’m gonna have to find something to give him to make up for it.
So, that’s about it for the birthday stuff, but I still had a lot to do on my first day back! First off, this is my first time seeing winter in this game, and it looks great! .....But why are the flowers still blooming, and why are the fruit still-? Uuuuuuhh.......I-I won’t question it. It’s a game. And I like seeing my black tulips still there....
A lot of the day was spent refreshing myself on what I was doing before I left. What items I was holding, what I was planning on doing with those items....How many Bells I had, and so on. I also tried seeing if there were any new bugs in the winter by catching a few, but only one was new. While it does make sense for not many bugs to be out, I’m definitely gonna keep an eye out for more. And finally, I went to the Able Sisters to get myself a winter outfit, since I don’t wanna be walking around in the snow in a t-shirt.....and luckily, they had a black coat that I liked! It’s called a “peacoat”....it looks good on me, but I’ll still check to see if they can gave more types of coats....Like, maybe a more fluffy one? Or maybe a scarf? Are there scarves in this game? I’d wear one! I hate the cold, so more warmth the better.....but for now, I’m all dressed up for the winter!
Also, there are a lot of random snowflakes drifting about, which I’ve been collecting......and somehow they’re not melting in my pockets. XD I already have my first seasonal DIY recipe, which involves snowflakes. So....I assume that snowflakes are primarily a DIY ingredient for winter recipes, like the shells were in the summer! (Or maybe they have another use I haven’t seen yet, I dunno) I don’t really want a winter room, but I’m collecting them anyway just in case I wanna make at least one thing with them. You never know.
So, I pieced everything together pretty quickly after opening all my birthday presents and not being able to put all of them away - I wanted the next house extension ASAP, didn’t I? XD Well, I better get on that....I think I’m pretty close. And once I remembered that, I remembered the long-term goal....the K.K. thing, which I still haven’t gotten cuz I’m been slacking- SERIOUSLY, why am I so bad at this game!? XD OK, OK, one thing at a time.....new room. Right. I remember what I wanted my next room to be.
So, aside from my birthday, nothing major happened today. It was just me catching up with everyone, updating my appearance for the season, catching some stuff, and remembering my goals. Next time, I’ll definitely work towards upgrading my house. My full storage will drive me crazy if I don’t knock that out right away. And I’ve also stockpiled a lot of furniture for the next room, since I know what I want it to be, so I can’t wait to set that in motion! I also think I wanted to build a bridge somewhere near my house, but my black tulips are in the way, so I’ll have to move all those somewhere...but I’m not in a major hurry to do that as much. It’s just something I wanna jot down so I’ll keep it in mind.
(Also note to self: “I’m sorry” gift for Deli. Keep an eye out.)
I’m gonna TRY to start playing this daily again, but it’s a habit that I’ll have to force myself back into. I know there’s another Splatfest coming up this month (one that’s BRAND new, so I won’t wanna miss it), plus I now have Pokemon Shield so I finally wanna start playing that.....but I’m still gonna keep at least some focus on this game. This isn’t a game I need to spend a TON of time on each day. Maybe just an hour or two, unless something big happens. While I’m bummed about missing the holidays, I like this game, and I’m happy I made myself play it today. I missed it.....and I needed it.

Hey! Thank you for your request! I'm sorry it took so long for me to get to. Hope you like it anyways!
I'd ship you with...
Tumblr media
Kuroo Tetsurou!
• I'm gonna assume you are in the class same as Kuroo for this, hope that's okay.
• He was walking with Yaku having another debate about their preferences for girls when he suddenly pointed at you and said "like her!", which caused you to freeze. Kuroo also froze as he realised what he did. He then ran up to you to apologise and explained that he was arguing about preferences and he was saying that you looked attractive. He then awkwardly blushed and jogged off, apologising as he went back to Yaku and the team.
• Honestly you were really shocked about the situation. Like...what just happened? This boy suddenly just came up to you, said you were attractive then left.
• You then saw him and Kenma the next day and he stopped and stared at you for a moment, before going over to you looking slightly flustered. He then said in a slightly nervous voice, "Uhm, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday, but the truth is I have kind of noticed you for a while. You look really pretty and I kind of wanted to talk to you. I noticed as well that you tend to doodle in class and when I glanced over, I thought you drawings were super cute...a-anyways, we don't have volleyball practice after school today, so did you want to go to a café with me later? My treat."
• Kenma quietly judged Kuroo because of how creepy he was being but also because he knew exactly what he was doing.
• You agreed without thinking since the whole situation caught you off guard, and he happily thanked you and walked off, saying he'd come find you after school. Then after he left, you realised what you'd done.
• You waited for him outside the school and he finally caught up with you, but Kenma was also with him. He then took the two of you to a cat café because of course he did and Kenma, who read the mood and realised he was third wheeling, left the two of you alone to talk while he went to play with the cats.
• It was a bit uncomfortable at first, but after Kuroo settled down a little, he became super easy to talk to and was really good at keeping the conversation going, which helped you to relax as well. Before you knew it, the two of you started sharing memes and cackling at them together. You could feel Kenma's judgement from across the room.
• Kuroo asked if he could have your number and you agreed. You sent him a 3am meme hoping he wouldn't get mad, and the next morning he sent you a bunch of messages about how he was wheezing and he couldn't breathe because of how funny the memes were, so you decided to add him to your target list of sending memes. Eventually, Kuroo started to participate as well, sending you memes as well as people on his team. Some found it funny, but others Yaku and Kenma got mad at Kuroo, which only motivated him to do it more. He also started to occasionally send some to your friends as well.
• You were afraid to be more open with Kuroo because you didn't want him to think badly of you because of the less "boyish" things you liked. One day, though, he caught you looking at pictures of Sanrio plushies on your phone, which made you panic. But he just smiled and said, "I like those too," which was really shocking. You assumed he was just trying to be nice, but then he pulled out his keys, which had a Kuromi keychain attached.
• (Apparently, he and Kenma found out about the Sanrio characters when they went to an arcade as kids and they bought each other keychains. Kenma bought Kuromi for Kuroo and Kuroo bought Gudetama for Kenma. Kenma's keychain was attached to the case for his Animal Crossing Switch. He told you to keep this a secret since he knew Kenma would get embarrassed, but it eventually came up in conversation at one point and Kenma showed his keychain.)
• As you and Kuroo got closer, so did you and Kenma. He was really good at noticing when something was off and he'd listen to your concerns. You also realised that you had a lot of common interests and you felt comfortable sharing your hobbies with him and Kuroo. When Kuroo saw the two of you talking comfortably about Pokémon one time, he had a really sincere smile on his face because he was amazed at how well the two of you got along and how you glew when you talked passionately about your hobbies. He fell in love with you a little more.
• You realised one day that you weren't exactly sure what your relationship with Kuroo was. You were friends of course and you'd spend a lot of time together, but you wanted more, you were just afraid to say since you didn't want to ruin what you had. Kenma noticed you seemed to be deep in thought and you told your feelings to him, to which convinced you to confess to Kuroo, saying it would make him happy.
• You nervously said to Kuroo that you'd like to date, and he just kind of froze and then said in a cracked voice "s-sure!" He then apologised for the strange response and then confessed that he'd had feelings for you for a long time, he just didn't know how to tell you. He then kissed your hand and thanked you for confessing, then he ran off to get ready for practice.
• Kuroo seemed to be a little bit more on edge with you now you were dating. When you confronted him about it, he said he wasn't sure how comfortable you were with displays of affection and the reason he was on edge was because he wasn't sure whether he was okay to hold your hand, hug you, kiss you, etc. You let him know what your terms were and he relaxed a little knowing what his boundaries were.
• You were glad Kuroo was taller than you because you loved being able to bury yourself in his chest or shoulder whenever he hugged you. And despite his tough-looking exterior, he really loves cuddling and he's super good at it and showing his affection in soft ways.
• Kuroo really loves watching you draw and edit. He either quietly watches you do it or he sits off to the side and let's you get on with it, maybe looking at you every now and then and smiling at how pretty you look. Either way, he is fine with quietly hanging around when you work and he does his best not to disturb you, but also likes to encourage you to take breaks and cuddles you when you do so you can recharge.
• The first time you let your hair down in front of Kuroo he just...stopped? You got confused because you didn't know why he reacted like that, but he had to turn his head away and cover his face because of how much he was blushing. Even if you don't think highly of yourself, to him you are the most stunning, attractive person ever, both in terms of how you look and your personality.
• Kuroo really appreciate you supporting him during matches, even if you don't go crazy cheering for him. Just knowing you're there is enough for him to feel grateful.
• The club members love you as well. Not only are you Kuroo's weakness which they sometimes like to exploit for entertainment, you also get along with everyone super well. They were so shocked when they saw Kenma talking to you so naturally. They started inviting you out whenever they'd go out as a team since you were practically a part of it now.
• Kuroo is super good at showing how much he loves you, even just through little things. You also make him super happy just by being you. Arguing with Yaku that day was the best thing to ever happen to him.
I was gonna pair you with Yaku but I felt like I was only doing that since I've already done Kuroo as a matchup before, but honestly I think Kuroo is a super good match. Hope you enjoyed this!
Sorry this is so long btw, I am in Kenma and Kuroo loving hours, so this was fun to write! To be honest, I could have written more if I wanted to, but I didn't wanna drag this out too much.

What’s on your mind... (Contestshipping)
Ok, so Contestshipping has got to be in my top 10 ships in pokemon, it’s just so perfect. This is my first time writing a fanfic so constructive criticism is appreciated.
****PART ONE****(RATING: HIGHLY SUGGESTIVE SITUATIONS)
“Ugh, Drew I don’t want to do this right now. Why can’t we take a break and eat?” May tapped her foot impatiently “I heard there’s a great noodle shop right around the...”
“May!” Drew interrupted. “You’re never going to succeed if all you can think about is your stomach. C’mon, surely you have it in you to partake in one more battle, unless you’re too weak that is.” Drew smirked
May stared daggers in the green haired boy’s skull, but he took no notice. Sometimes, he really got on her nerves. All she remembers is him walking up to her after their last contest asking if he could train with her. Why did he even want to train with her? The only reason he was here is because she allowed it, so why was he being so hard on her? However, as much as she hated Drew pushing her limits, there was still a small part of her that found him kind of endearing, and sometimes even attractive.
“Hello, Earth to May, are you in there? Why are you staring at me like that? Maybe Max was right, there really is nothing up there.” Drew shook his head “Or maybe my looks have put you in a trance. Eh, I can’t say I blame you. I know I can have that effect o...”
“Will you shut up! I was not caught in a trance,” May lowered her voice, “I was just thinking” she blushed as she stepped back whilst pressing her index fingers together a couple of times. “But that doesn’t matter right now. What’s important is that I put you in your place.” May’s voice slowly got louder as she pulled out a pokeball. “Skitty, c’mon out,” May launched her pokeball onto the practice battlefield.
“Skitty” Skitty excitedly jumped out onto the field. Excited to be by May’s side.
“Ok, Drew. You’re on, one more battle. Just know I’m not going easy on you!”
“Hm,” Drew laughed “I wouldn’t want you to, hun. I like it when you go all out” Drew winked. “Ok Masquerain, I choose you!” Drew hurdled the pokeball out in front of him.
“Masquer mas” Masquerain chanted as it prepared for battle.
May blushed and quickly looked away from Drew’s gaze. What the heck is that supposed to mean? May thought. Surely he can’t be flirt... NO, why would he do that. What could he possibly see in me? NO! He’s just trying to get on my nerves, yeah. I need to stay focused! I can’t let Drew win!
“Oh, it’s on, cabbage-top” May grinned evilly. “Skitty, use Blizzard!”
“SKI-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-TY” Skitty let out a spiraling blast of cold wind and ice pellets at Masquerain.
Drew looked at the beautiful display of icy crystals looping down at their target. Wow, Skitty’s Blizzard attack has so much control and power. May must have really been training hard with Skitty since the last competition. She really has grown into quite a beautiful trainer... wait, I have to focus! Drew called out his next attack.
“Masquerain, dodge it and use Bubble”
“Mas-MAS,” Masquerain blocked itself with its wings and let out a jet stream of bubbles that coated only about half of the icy shards hurtling towards it. It tried to hold out but it was too much for it to handle. Slowly, Masquerain huddled lower and lower to the ground until it fainted.
“Masquerain!” Drew ran over to and huddled over it. How could he let this happen? If he wasn’t so distracted by May, he wouldn’t have been so late to call out an attack. Now, his Masquerain was hurt, and it was all his fault. He lifted Masquerain off of the ground and gently held it “Masquerain, we got to get you to a pokemon center!” Drew looked over at a bewildered May running towards him.
“Do you need assistance? I hope Masquerain is alright! There’s a pokemon center just a couple of blocks from here. I can come with you, afterall you gave my Beautifly a run for its money with your Flygon” May smiled.
“Um, it’s ok... I...” Drew quickly snapped back to reality “I mean, yeah sure you can come if you want. I gotta say though, that Skitty of yours truly is amazing. It really knows how to pack a punch. I can really tell you two have been practicing your Blizzard attack. Keep it up, and you’ll have no problem winning in pokemon contests all over Hoenn.” Drew flicked his sweat glazed hair away from his eyes.
May glanced at Drew, and searched his eyes for any signs of sarcasm, but came up empty handed. Was Drew actually giving me a genuine compliment?!? Wow, maybe he’s not so cold hearted as he puts off. May reasoned and slowly smiled. “Well thank you Drew, you’ve definitely gotten stronger too, uh but we should get going, your Masquerain really isn’t looking too hot”
“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go!”
When they finally reached the Pokemon Center, May and Drew gave their pokemon to Nurse Joy and proceeded to wait out in the lobby. That, however, was hours ago. Naturally, as time would have it the more the trainers waited, the more worried they became for their pokemon.
Drew’s mind was racing to the brim with awful thoughts of his Masquerain. “Oh, man, I really did it this time, didn’t I! If only I wasn’t so distracted!...”
“Huh, why were you distracted?” May asked in return. Drew’s eyes widened as he realized he was talking out loud. “Oh did I say distracted, what I meant to say was if only I wasn’t so, uh inactive!” Drew insisted. “Yeah, my reaction time sucks right now, I guess I need to work on that.”
“Hmmm” May looked intently at Drew. She knew he was lying. Afterall, he has already displayed some of the best reactions she has ever seen in the past. Something was throwing him off for sure, but she didn’t quite know what it was. She was even further confused because she considered him a friend. Why wouldn’t he want to tell her what was on his mind? Unless... it was about her. May smiled. If her theory was correct, then that had to be it. May’s stomach started tangling itself into knots, and what she did next even she could not have predicted.
“Drrreeeew, we both know you’re lying” May sang as she scooted closer to him just to test the waters a little. Caught off guard, Drew looked away from May’s gaze as he gulped. From that point, that was all the evidence May needed to proceed with her interrogation. “Now, are you gonna tell me what was distracting you, or do you want me to say it out loud for everyone in the pokemon center to hear.” May taunted, as she used her hand to rotate Drew’s face back towards her. Drew’s eyes were completely dilated from embarrassment. She wasn’t really going to humiliate him, but she was really good at bluffing, so she played the part.
“I uh um, you know I was just thinking about your Skitty and its Blizzard attack.” Drew admitted. He wasn’t lying necessarily, just not telling the whole truth, he reasoned with himself. Feeling a sudden burst of cockiness out of nowhere he himself started a little detective work of his own. “And what about you May?”
“Ma mee?” May stammered blushing softly.
‘Bingo,’ Drew thought. “Yes you, you were distracted before our battle, and don’t try to lie about what...” Drew paused and got closer to her ear “or who was distracting you.” he backed away smugly. “Because we both know the answer to that million dollar question.”
At this point May was ripped to pieces. She could feel her heart beating even in her feet. How was he doing this to her? Nevertheless, he made her excited, and he seemed to bring out an edge in her that no one else could.
May couldn’t take it anymore, and considered telling the truth to Drew. What would he say? At this point she didn’t even care, even if he laughed at her. She brought her face closer to Drew’s until they were inches apart. “Well, at  least I can admit that I was distracted by my opponent... unlike some people.” May whispered slowly as her lips grew closer to Drew’s until they were barely brushing his.
“m ma May, I” Drew stuttered weakly.
“And the fact that you’re not moving away...” May moved back to a reasonable distance “proves I’m right”. May gloated in victory as she stared at the green haired boy practically at a loss for all words. “Drew, we’ve been friends long enough for me to know you better than you think”
Drew just looked away, his face as red as a rose. “Oh yeah, well...”
“Thank you so much for your patience, all your pokemon are happy and healthy once again!” Nurse Joy beamed as she came into the lobby followed by Chancey with May and Drew’s pokemon. “I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.”
“Oh no, you’re fine! Thank you so much!” May quickly stood up to take her pokemon.
“Um, yeah thanks!” Drew added grabbing his pokemon as well.
May and Drew were walking out of the pokemon center. When May decided to set up Drew one last time to take her bait. “You know Drew, you were looking kind of nervous at the end of that conversation. As far as I know, young men aren’t supposed to let embarrassment get the better of them when faced with a difficult question. I guess you’re still just a...”
“Don’t even finish that sentence May! You and I both know we aren’t ten anymore! I am a man, now” Drew pulled closer and closer to May, and May backed further and further away from him until she was backed up against the wall. “but maybe I need to show you that.” Drew’s lips made their way to May’s ear once again, his words dripped like honey “you are a persistent girl May, I’ve always admired that about you, so I’ll tell you the truth... but not here. If you want to know everything, I’ll be an open book. All you have to do is come by my place later today, be there by 3:00, and come alone.” Drew smirked, and finally sauntered off. “I gotta go for now May, all of that training has made me hungry. See ya later, yeah?”
May stood motionless in utter disbelief. What did she get herself into? And whatever she just witnessed was a new side of Drew that she had never seen before. It was downright sexy, and every part of her knew it. Drew was like a drug to her at this point, and she needed to know exactly what was on his mind. She finally composed herself together, and checked the time. 12:00 May read. I guess I could go get something to eat, and then, I need to head home and get ready to go to Drew’s. Even her own thoughts were foreign to her, as she headed out of the pokemon center in search for a good restaurant. Even so, she kind of liked them...
****END OF PART ONE****
I hope everyone liked it. As I said before, this is my first fanfic, so I’ll probably get better with time... like most people, lol.

LENS Ch.1
Summary: Sometimes, the universe aligns, and you make friends with a stranger. Sometimes, that stranger is actually multiple people and life just got a bit more interesting.
Genre(s): Fluff, Comedy, lil bit of Angst (Maybe), BTS (It’s a genre now)
Contains: Things that make me feel fuzzy, photography, social media, things I know nothing about but have googled extensively, and the power of friendship.
Word Count: 1405
Note: This is an introductory chapter. BTS makes their entrance in the next. This one is mainly to help understand a bit more about you - as the reader - and introduce background characters that will be referenced repeatedly and brought up often.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To say that you were excited was an understatement.
Striding through the doors, you were met with Wonderland, quite literally. Alice in Fantasy Book was a cafe you’d had eyes on for awhile. Photos of it’s delectable treats had crossed your feed one too many times. Now, here you sat, Eun-ha practically vibrating with excitement beside you.
“Haru said she was on her way,” You informed her, taking a sip of your drink. You were ignored, the model opting to gaze at the decor in awe. You couldn’t blame her. The walls themselves were a sight to behold, canvases portraying various scenes from the novel. When coupled with the other various decorations - of which an abundance were hearts - it was simply awe inspiring. You wished you’d brought your camera, but supposed your phone would have to do for now. A gasp of awe caught your attention and you turned to see Haru making her way to you. While Eun-ha was a classic beauty, and you maintained a rather flattering appearance, Haru radiated the softest of auras.
“Ah, you look stunning,” Eun-ha complimented. Purple hair - pastel, of course - covered pink ears as the up-and-coming singer took her seat.
“Oddly Cheshire today,” You teased, eyes on her striped sweater. Haru only shrugged with a cheeky grin. The three of you shared a small laugh, quickly placing your orders. “I can’t believe we’re all here,” You admitted as the waitress walked away. You were so glad she spoke English.
“I can’t believe it either,” Eun-ha agreed. “The fact that we’re all here in Tokyo… When was the last time we were all in the same city?”
“Too long,” Haru muttered.
“So why are you two around,” you inquired, head tilted in curiosity.
“I’m in between shows,” Haru admitted. “I just finished up in Osaka, so we’re taking a break before heading back home.” The singer took another sip of her drink before the two of you turned on Eun-ha.
The model gave a dismissive wave, “In town for a clothing shoot. The real question is why our darling ____ is here and not back home in lovely South Korea.” You smirked, tracing the rim of your glass and giving the waitress a polite nod as she delivered your orders.
“I am here,” you snuck a quick bite, “because I really wanted to eat at this cafe.” Your admission earned nothing but flat looks of disbelief. “I kept seeing photos,” you defended, gesturing at the rather adorable caterpillar sushi in front of you. “I’ll probably make a vlog later today, take some photos.” You shrugged, “Honestly, I don’t have anything planned right now.”
“No jobs scheduled,” Eun-ha repeated, clearly shocked.
“I’m on sabbatical,” You joked. “Only photos I’ll be taking are for me and Instagram.” From there, the three of you devolved into casual chatter, occasionally squealing at how utterly adorable everything was. A trio of girls, all suckers for the wonderfully weird world of Alice in Wonderland. The fun ended once Haru’s phone chimed, her manager calling her back to the hotel.
“We can walk you back,” You offered. The two of you were obstinately ignoring Eun-ha paying behind you. You’d tried splitting the bill, but the model had refused, citing that it was “her duty” as the eldest. Eldest by three days, but you weren’t bitter. Nope, not at all.
Haru shook her head, “No, they’ve sent someone to pick me up. You two should go explore, send me some photos!” You rolled your eyes, grabbing her into a hug. Eun-ha soon joined, obnoxiously resting all her weight on the pair of you.
“Yah! Get off me, you giantess,” your words were muffled by the sweater in your face, but she got the message, releasing you with a laugh. “Aish,” you muttered, trying to fix your hair. Haru merely snickered, seemingly unruffled by Eun-ha’s antics.
“We should really meet up again soon,” Haru said, watching as a sleek car rolled up, the driver clambering out to open the door for her.
“Definitely,” You and Eun-ha agreed. “I'll message you,” You promised, giving her a wave as the door closed and the car sped off.
“I need to go too,” Eun-ha admitted sheepishly. “My flight leaves in a few hours and I need to pack.”
You nodded sadly, “Where to now?”
“London, actually.” She pulled you into a hug. “Stay in touch, okay? And keep those videos coming, your last cooking attempt had me in tears,” She admitted with a laugh.
You giggled, giving her a punch in the arm. “Next cooking video, you’re going to be in it,” You swore. The two of you laughed. For all the grief Eun-ha gave you, she wasn’t much of a cook herself. The only difference between the two of you was that she was capable of using a knife without injury, as opposed to your ongoing battle to not bleed everytime you walked by one. The two of you shared one last bittersweet goodbye before finally separating.
You made your way to your hotel room, grabbing your camera. Not the one reserved for photos, sadly, but rather the one you used when filming. Setting it up on the tripod, you double checked the lighting, adjusted the settings, and started recording.
“Hello everyone! I wasn’t sure if I was going to video today, but I’m in Tokyo, so I couldn't resist. It’s rather beautiful here and I just got back from lunch. Eun-ha and Haru were able to make it, so we dined in wonder! No joke though,” you shifted on the bed and leaned forward, “We went to that cafe I’ve been dying to try! It’s called Alice in Fantasy Book and not only was the food and service superb but, the decor-'' You stopped, blinking meaningfully at the camera. “I died,” you said solemnly, “and it was so worth it.” You sat back, running a hand through your hair, “You all have known me awhile, okay. Aesthetics, themes, anything like that? You know I’m going to be into it. This place was honestly gorgeous you guys. They had chairs like the at the Mad Hatter’s table, Queen of Hearts theme was there, the waitresses were all in Alice's dress and-” You muffled a scream with your hands. “The walls were some of the most stunning things I have ever witnessed. They were painted with scenes from the novel and the artwork, oh my goodness. I think I fell in love with the walls,” You admitted sheepishly. “If any of you get the chance, especially my Alice in Wonderland fans, I advise you to go.”
“Anyway! It’s my second day here, yesterday I just walked around. I probably spent too much money shopping but meh,” You waved a hand at the thought. “My Pokemon collection has grown and I have more Luigi merch. That is all that matters. I’ll probably wander around some more tonight, take a few nightlife photos, but what I’m really excited about is tomorrow.” You rubbed your hands together, smiling gleefully. “I,” You proudly announced, “am going to drown myself in art! There are so many art museums here and I’m ready. There’s one focused on photography specifically, so you know I’m going there. I won’t keep this video so short - I have standards - which is why when I’m finally done editing, you all will have a lovely montage of me making a fool out of myself yesterday, playing in three, two-” You stopped recording, a grin on your face, “One.”
Whipping out your computer, you started editing, removing any awkward silences that might have snuck their way in first. Next came the audio, double-checking that it didn’t cut out randomly. It had happened once when you first started, and you’d been paranoid since. The montage was already done, simply needing to be stitched into the clip from tonight. You internally thanked your past self, who’d had the foresight to get ahead. Triple-checking everything and making sure you didn’t miss something, you finally nodded, loading it up to your account and sending out a quick tweet that your new video was up. Instagram was treated to a selfie and the same message.
You stood, stretching, and grabbed your camera bag, the light of Tokyo shining through your window. For all that it was late, you had the oddest feeling that something good was going to happen tonight. It could wait until after you got coffee, though.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is my whistling just a nighttime or at home thing now? Two nights in a row where I don't whistl all day and then I come home and its so loud!! Why!!
It was a pretty good day though. I had fallen asleep last night around 930. Before James even came to bed. Whoops. I apparently needed it. But I still felt a little loopy from my flu shot.
I felt very cute today though. I was nervous about going to camp. But it was actually a good day.
I had a long drive out. About 45 minutes. And I missed my turn as soon as I got there so I had to loop around. But it was okay. I beat all the other counselors.
I met Amanda and she was very nice. We had a good chat. I could feel myself not being on my best game, but I tried. It was a weirdly weirdly cold day. Like I was legit freezing. I had my windbreaker in the car and its the only thing that saved me until late late in the afternoon when the wind finally calmed down.
I liked the kids a lot. It was a very small group Ony 17 kids spread over 3 groups. So we had 7 for most of the day. I was with the youngest group and they were very fun. I started with the first kids that came drawing them pokemon on sticky notes and having lots of laughs. Then I played uno with another little group. I won. It was very fun.
The first program was a science lesson where they built with legos to make something that could travel down a string like a ski lift. Amanda told me and the other counselor, Megan, to take a break during this time. Taking a break first thing doesn't exactly make any sense but okay. So I sat to the side and enjoyed the little bit of warmth from the sun.
Next was their sport hour. They played soccer with the sports teacher. I don't run so Megan played with them and I sat in the grass with the kids who didn't want to play. We played with my binoculars and then they had me lay down and buried me with grass. Which was very silly. Then we buried 3 other girls. And it was very silly and fun.
We wet back to the science area to build legos that wouldn't break when you dropped them, the older kids got parachutes for theirs. And then we watched them get thrown off a building.
Amanda made a weird comment to me that I hadn't "been hanging out with the kids". And that they like when we talk to them. And Im like ?????? So I went to Megan after and was like. Hey that was weird right? And she was like yeah you've literally been hanging out with the kids the whole time. I said it was maybe because she thought I was a kid getting buried with the grass? And then Megan found out I was 30 and shes only 16 and she was like I need to know everything about you. And it was very cute.
The rest of the day was pretty good. I played in the dirt with the kids. I wished I actually knew any of the camp songs by heart, I think they would have liked them. I just don't know how to start them. But I told them stories and asked about their lives and I think I still did good.
We would take them to the splash pad after lunch. I liked putting my feet in the water. But mostly I just watched them. I did get a little bit of sunburn on my arms and ankles. First time I got burnt all summer!! Annoying.
The afternoon warmed up and I enjoyed sitting in the beach chairs and watching the kids. Me and one of the little ones found a big beautiful moth. Took them to a tree to let them go. And finished up the day with popsicals and coloring. It was a nice day honestly.
I had the last couple kids by myself. I played tether ball with them, which is something I don't know if I have ever seen in real life but I actually really enjoyed. Would play again. And then walked the last kids to their dad before I headed home. I was excited to get out of there.
I thoroughly enjoyed my podcast on the way home. And it was almost perfectly timed to when I got back here. I brought my stuff inside and was excited to see I had a package.
It is the $115 dress (with shipping) mom found. Its by the designer of the dress I really liked at the store. And it is a little dirty and needs to be tailored. But guys its like. So good. Its a little tighter in the hips then I think I had pictured but its actually so nice. Im really excited. I think this is the dress Im going to wear. Amazing.
I have spent the rest of the afternoon cutting my new business cards. I had a quesadilla. I enjoyed James's company. We emailed a photographer for the wedding. I painted my toes and took off my nail polish.
And now I am clean and in bed. I am nerovus about my first day back at the museum tomorrow!! But I think it will be fine. I get to do a little bit of everything. A needles program, a tour, and working in the cannery. Im most nervous about the tour. I need to walk through the museum because I don't know how all of my information is going to come out. Its been over a year!! Its crazy. But I am excited.
I hope you all sleep good tonight. Take care of yourselves! Wash your hands!!

Top Ten Games of the Decade
Inspired by my friend @luniil I figured I would try and write down my top ten games of the decade before we ring in the new year. This list is quite obviously going to be extremely subjective. Note that I am limiting myself to one game per franchise to avoid potential bias there.
With that said, let’s kick this thing off, shall we?
#10 - World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria
Whatever my thoughts on WoW are today, I will never deny that for a long time it was my main game, barely playing anything else at all. Mists of Pandaria then was by far my favorite expansion. Challenge Modes were a blast, the new Monk class quickly became my favorite and for the most part the writing was great. Pandaria was shrouded in mystery - as Thrall told us in the trailer - and much of the writing reflected that. After years of expansions pulling from the past, this stuff felt new and fresh, while not out of place either. Throne of Thunder is and will probably always be my favorite raid instance of all time as well, with quite honestly every single fight there being enjoyable from start to finish.
#9 - Undertale
The tears. Oh FUCK the tears when I reached that ending. And then the tears when I learned that wasn’t the end at all and there was more if I rebooted the game - they got me with that one. I was extremely late to the party with Undertale, only starting playing it as late as half a year ago, but I was inspired by Rey to try it out and I absolutely loved it. Bonus points for the 4th wall breaking throughout - a trope I admittedly might enjoy too much.
#8 - Hearthstone
This game got me into card games. I mean, I dabbled with some Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh cards as a kid but that was more of a collecting thing than actually playing the games. The polish on this game is honestly amazing from the voice acting on every card, the animations, the trinkets and odds to mess around with on every board... It’s a great game to play when I’m not really in the mood for something too intense and just want to sit back and play some joke decks.
#7 - WildStar / TERA
I’m cheating a little here by listing two games as a pair because both are here for very similar reasons, and I wouldn’t really feel right listing either above the other. I play MMOs. Like, it’s probably my favorite genre. I love the social interactions and as I play on a relatively limited budget compared to most of my friends, the constant updates and stuff to do is a very big draw for me as well. However, I’ve always felt the combat could be a bit... More involved beyond just hitting buttons on a hotbar. WildStar and TERA then seemed like the answer to my cries, taking a more action combat approach to the genre. I *loved* playing these games and it’s unfortunate the communities in both seemed to dry up so easily. Evidently I am in a minority enjoying these, but I have fond memories of both. RIP WildStar.
#6 - Pokemon B/W2
I had to really think hard which Pokemon game I would be listing here. One way or another one would get a spot but I wasn’t sure which. I loved mega evolutions, and regional forms were an amazing idea too. For all the hate Sword/Shield have gotten, I’ve still gotten a ton of fun out of them as well. But ultimately? All of these I liked for a gimmick. Megas, Regionals, Raids... Each of them a great idea but none of them defining the core experience. Black/White 2, on the other hand, was the first game where I wanted to get my main team to 100, and where I actually wanted to put thought into my main team as opposed to just kinda rolling with whatever I run into. The story was great, the returning characters were great, and the variety of Pokemon in a playthrough was incredible. Easily one of the best Pokemon games of all time.
#5 - Super Smash Bros Ultimate
There isn’t a world where this couldn’t make the list. I grew up with Smash from the N64 days. I love the crossover aspect and seeing everyone return in one game, plus newcomers including, at last, BANJO? This game is why I bought a Switch in the first place, and it continues to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. For the first time I’ve dabbled in competitive play as well, and I’ve been loving every moment of it, even the losses. World of Light was a blast to play through and having each character’s Classic mode follow it’s own theme was brilliant. Ultimate indeed.
#4 - Mario Galaxy 2
HOLD THE PITCHFORKS! Had it not been for my one game per franchise rule Odyssey would have made it on to the list. However, between the two, Galaxy 2 easily wins out as the better game. Odyssey had a lot - to the point of fatigue in some cases. Yes, there are 880 moons versus 242 stars, but a good chunk of the moons felt tacked on towards the end of the game. Galaxy 2 on the other hand was a blast from the very first star all the way to the last. It took the idea of Galaxy and made it easily ten times better, and where most people are hoping for an Odyssey 2 or Sunshine remake... I’m lowkey praying for a Galaxy 3.
#3 - Skyrim
Skyrim is not perfect. I’m going to say that right away. Plenty of bugs including some gamebreaking ones are about. But with that said, I still got an easy 350 hours of joy out of the game and still have stuff left unexplored. See, being that I’m gaming on a budget longevity is very much a part in how I rate games. I’d rather buy a good game that lasts me forever than an amazing game of 5 hours with no replay value, and Skyrim is full of the former. And while it might not be perfect, it’s still got a lot of good things going for it on top of that replay value. That is why it deserves it’s spot on my list.
#2 - Life is Strange
Excuse me while I cry my eyes out please? There isn’t much I will write on the actual story here as I don’t want to spoil things for Rey (with whom I’m replaying the game as of late) or any other reader that might pick the game up, but few games have made me as emotional as this series. There’s some cheesy jokes that might be trying a bit too hard, but in general the actual story is brilliant.
#1 - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers
Dear reader, let’s run back through the previous points I’ve made in this post for a minute before we properly dive into the number one pick here. I’ve mentioned a love for MMOs and their social aspects. I’ve mentioned a love for stories that aren’t afraid to shake the norm up a little. I’ve told you about valuing replay-ability, which the job system in FFXIV definitely offers. And, I’ve mentioned a love for games that make me cry my heart out.
Shadowbringers got all of that and then some.
Never did I think a MMO’s story could bring me to tears quite as badly as Shadowbringers did. I always kinda accepted well, a MMO is just that first, RPG second, prioritizing the online experience above a coherent story. Shadowbringers took that and threw it in my face, telling me no, damnit, I can do both. Even characters I wasn’t all that fond of on a personal level, the game does such a great job at establishing them that if they kill anyone off my face is full of tears in a matter of seconds. But they don’t even need to go that far. The storywriting is strong enough that even without shock value moments I’ve bawled my eyes out on my keyboard. Shadowbringers is a heartbreak in the best way possible, and that’s not even mentioning the music or hell, the actual gameplay yet.
“Remember.. Remember us. Remember, that we once lived.”

To be a Dad - Marissonshipping One-shot
Here's a (late) one-shot for Father's Day.
---------------------------
"Okay Mairin, what is it you want?" Alain asked, crossing his arms as he wife set an only-sort-of burnt dinner in front of him. He raised an eyebrow, blue eyes looking up at Mairin.
"What?" She asked in a tone that was just a bit too innocent. "Can't I make dinner for wonderful husband for a change?"
"Of course you can," Alain said, looking down at the plate that held his favorite meal, fingers tracing the mug of coffee she had given him several minutes before. "My favorite dinner is always a nice surprise– and judging by the burnt mess in the trash can you've spent several attempts in making this."
Mairin flushed.
"Nothing wrong with that... but then you also gave me a back rub as soon as I got home, brewed me my coffee just how I liked it, picked up the books I had on hold at the library, and for once stopped Kade from getting his muddy paws all over my work clothes..." Alain sighed, giving her a small smile. "Well, I can't help but think that maybe you want something."
"Heh..." Mairin said, scratching at her neck. "Well, maybe there's one little favor I need..."
Alain chuckled, taking a bite of his dinner, which was a little bit more charred than when he made it– but still fairly good. "You can always just ask, you know? You didn't need to go all out today. What do you need?"
"Will you watch Faith tomorrow afternoon?"
Alain paused as she said this, glancing back at Mairin, who had a pleading look on her face. He blinked, hesitating for a moment, before setting his fork down. A silence hovered in the air for several moments, before Alain spoke.
"Mairin, you know I have work then–"
"You can take the day off– I know the professor would let you," Mairin said, sitting down in the chair next to Alain. "But the girls are going out, and they invited me to go with them. It's been ages since I've just been able to have a night to hang out."
"Then take Faith with you, Serena and Bonnie love her–" Alain began, but Mairin cut him off.
"They're planning on watching a movie that's not appropriate for a two year old," She crossed her arms. "Besides, as much as I love Faith, sometimes I need a break too. I'm with her everyday, is it too much to ask to have one afternoon to myself?"
He hesitated. "I'm not saying that you can't– but can't we just hire a babysitter? You know I have so much going on at the lab right now, and even one day will put me behind–" He paused as Mairin turned away, a bitter look on her face. "...Mairin?"
"...The reason why I'm asking you to do this isn't just so I can get a break," Mairin muttered. "I think you need to spend more time with Faith."
"I see her everyday," Alain replied, before pausing. "Well, um, I haven't seen her today– but I assume you sent her to a friend's house or something while you did all this."
"See?" Mairin said, turning to face him. "You barely even noticed that she wasn't in the house! You didn't even ask where she was! Bonnie's watching her– and she runs a whole daycare but still has time to spend with Faith! Our daughter looks forward to you getting home from work every night, but you just barely give her a hello half of the time. Your normal shifts are bad enough, since she's usually in bed an hour after you get home!"
"Mairin–"
"But now you've been taking so many more hours at work that the only times you'll see her are way early in the morning, when she's half asleep and you're hurrying out the door," Mairin said, the words just rushing from her, as if she had been wanting to say this for some time now. "She's going to be three years old in a month, but yet you never see her! And when I say see her, I mean real quality time together! When's the last time you've played a game with her? Tucked her into bed? Sat down at dinner with the rest of us instead of eating alone because you get home so late!"
Alain stared down at his plate, while Mairin was panting from her rant.
"...I..." She looked away. "I'm not saying that you're a bad parent– I know you'd do anything for her, and you're supporting this family..." Glossy amber eyes looked at Alain. "But she misses you so much."
"It's not that I don't want to be with Faith, or you for that matter," Alain said, reaching out and grabbing Mairin's hand with both of his. "But these hours I'm putting in at work are all going towards me becoming an independent researcher. Once I get all the hours I need, I'll have more control over my schedule. I'll be earning more money, I'll be my own boss. I won't be stuck in the lab, I can spend more time with you and Faith, I just need to get through this and–"
"Won't be stuck in the lab because you'll be traveling about for your research instead," Mairin whispered, looking up at him. "Am I wrong? That means you'll probably be at home even less. And while you spend your focus getting in the hours you need, Faith will be growing up," She grasped his wrist. "One day, Alain, just one day for your little girl? How far would that put you behind with work?"
"...One day would probably be fine..." Alain said slowly after a moment, and Mairin's eyes softened. "But I'd need more than one day to arrange–"
"I already spoke with Sycamore," Mairin said. "I didn't want to pester you about work since it already runs you to the bone, so I called him to ask just how flexible your hours were," She hesitated. "So will you spend tomorrow with Faith?"
Alain smiled. "Of course."
Mairin leaned forward a bit. "...If you can take one day off, do you think you could take another as well?" She tilted her head slightly. "A day just for you and me...?"
A faint pink tinge appeared on Alain's cheeks. "Next month would be better..." He began, and Mairin leaned towards him a bit. He swallowed. "But you're right, I do need to spend more time with you two... so yes. I'll take tomorrow and... another time off."
Mairin grinned, leaning forward and giving him a peck on the nose, making him blink. "Wonderful!" Mairin said. "Why don't you call up the professor and let him know you won't be coming in tomorrow?"
He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. "Alright, but I will be turning in early tonight– I'm exhausted."
"Of course– don't worry about cleaning up, just enjoy your dinner," Mairin said.
Alain nodded, lifting another bite to his mouth.
-----------------------------------------------------
"And have her in bed no later than eight if you want to stay up with her," Mairin said as she stood by the door, all dressed up for her night out with her friends. "But I'd prefer it if she was in bed around seven."
"Got it," Alain said, glancing at the list in his hand. He was honestly a bit annoyed that Mairin had made one– even if he had been busy lately he still knew how to take care of his child. "You should probably get going, you don't want to be late."
"It only takes like ten minutes to get Bonnie's place," Mairin said with a wave of her hand. "Now, Faith won't take a bath without both of her rubber Duckletts and the Swanna, and you'll have to find them since she likes to play with them throughout the day–"
"Wait, ten minutes?" Alain said, paling slightly. "Mairin– how fast have you been driving?! It's nearly a twenty minute drive!"
"Only because you drive so slow," Mairin replied. "Make sure you use the 'no-tear' shampoo and–"
"I drive the speed limit!"
"Alain, are you even listening to me?" Mairin asked, putting a hand on her hip. "No-tear shampoo in case you get it into her eyes."
"...Maybe you can just ride Kaj there?" Alain asked meekly.
"First of all, he doesn't do well with long flights," Mairin said. "Second of all, I'm not riding on a Pokemon in a dress. And finally– have you even been listening to a word I've been saying?"
"Use the special shampoo for Faith's bath, I've got that," Alain said. "What I'm concerned about is how fast you're apparently driving!"
Mairin smiled. "You worry too much– I'll be fine," She shouldered her purse, taking a step towards Alain and pulling him for a hug. "But I don't want to be late– I'll see you tonight!"
Alain returned her embrace, leaning down and pressed a small kiss onto her lips. "Drive carefully, please," He said as he pulled back. "I love you."
"I love you too," She said, stepping towards the door, before pausing. "Goodbye Faith– Mommy's leaving now!"
"Bye-bye!" A voice cried from down the hall. "Bring me back a present!"
Mairin chuckled. "I blame Serena– she spoils her with too many gifts," She gave one more smile towards Alain as she opened the door. "Bye, honey."
"Goodbye," Alain said, lingering by the door for a moment as it shut behind her. He glanced down at the list one more time, before stuffing it in his pocket, and he went in search of Faith.
He found the young girl in the family room, having already set up a large assortment of toys in the few minutes she had been in there. Blocks and stuffed animals were scattered across the floor, and in the center of it all was Faith, happily working on building a tower of blocks next to a sleeping Flareon. Alain swallowed, heading straight for the tower– having that fall onto a sleeping fire type was not the best idea.
"Um, how about we move your tower somewhere else, sweetie," Alain said uncertainty.
"Daddy!" Faith cried happily, a pair of amber eyes turning up towards him as he knelt down next to her. A pair of small arms wrapped around him, a grin on his daughter's face. "Mommy says we get to play for the rest of the day– it's going to be so much fun!"
"Definitely," Alain agreed, a bit swiftly. "But we should move your tower, we don't want it to fall onto Kade."
"Kadey's fine," Faith said, standing up and placing another building block onto the tower. "And it's not a tower, Daddy– it be Char-zar– see? It's her long, long neck!"
"...I see," Alain said slowly. "Well, um, how about we move 'Charizard' somewhere else since Kade's asleep?"
The two year old shook her head, grabbing another block, reaching up to place it on the top on her tower. Alain tensed as it wobbled, but Faith seemed unconcerned as she reached for another block. He wasn't quite sure how high she intended to build, but he couldn't just let her just keep building here.
"Faith, that's enough," Alain said firmly, and the two year old glanced at him. "We need to move the blocks elsewhere."
"No!" She cried, going up on her tiptoes to place another building block. The unbalanced tower of blocks wobbled, and Alain quickly slid between the crumbling tower and the sleeping Flareon. He gritted his teeth as they fell onto his lap, but the only harm the falling blocks brought was a loud noise.
But Kade slept on.
"Again!" Faith cried happily, kneeling down to gather the scattered wooden blocks, but Alain gently grabbed her wrists.
"Faith, I already said we can't play with the blocks here," Alain said, and an unhappy frown crossed her face. "Let's take the blocks somewhere else, okay?"
"But I wanna play here!"
"The blocks almost fell on Kade. Would you like it if they fell on you?" Alain asked, raising an eyebrow. A pair of amber eyes glanced at Kade as he snored, then slipped towards the ground.
"No..." She said quietly, shifting.
"So why don't we move the blocks somewhere else then?"
"Okay..." Faith muttered, but then her eyes lit up. "This time we build Chespie! You help, okay? Make it really-extra-super tall!"
Alain smiled, gathering several of the blocks in his arms. "Alright, really-extra-super tall it is."
-----------------------------------------------------
"And then the mama Swanna went 'quack quack quack!'" Faith sang happily, holding her rubber Swanna toy high. "Two little Duck-its came waddling back!"
Alain squeaked the two rubber Ducklett toys he was holding, and moved them towards Faith. This caused her to giggle– then dart to the other side of the room. She held up her Swanna once more, and began the next verse of the song.
"Two little Duck-its went out to play!" She called, watching Alain to make sure he had the Duckletts 'playing' as the song said. "Over the hills and far away! When the the mama Swanna went 'quack quack quack!' Only one Duck-it came waddling back!"
Alain pushed himself to his feet, letting the blue Ducklett toy fall to the ground, and he lead the pink and purple one over to where Faith was standing. She beamed happily, while Alain gave her a tired smile. It had just been over an hour– but they had played at least a dozen games, if not more.
Nothing seemed to hold Faith's attention for long, as soon as a new idea popped into her head or she saw a different toy she would jump onto a new activity, leaving the last one behind without a blink. They had gone from the living room, to playing tag in the halls, and they were currently in her bedroom.
"Okay sweetie," Alain said softly. "It's time for a little break. We need to clean up this mess we've made."
The bedroom looked like a Hurricane attack had hit it– toys scattered about– and not to mention what was out downstairs as well.
"No!" Faith said, running and jumping onto her bed. "Let's play!"
How did she have this much energy?
"We can play after we clean up," Alain replied. "We can't leave out this mess," He leaned down, picking up some puzzle pieces that had been scattered about. "I don't think your mother would like to see this mess when she gets home."
Faith had a glint in her eyes. "Mommy told me that we don't have to clean up!"
"Uh-huh," Alain said. "How unfortunate that she didn't mention that to me," He deposited the puzzle into its box, and then turned towards Faith. "Come now, help me clean this up."
"No!" She exclaimed, continuing to jump on her bed. "Playtime!"
He let out a long sigh, and headed towards her bed. She let out a squeal– jumping off and bolting for the door. Alain caught her midrun with ease, swinging her up into the air, the young girl laughing as her father plopped her down onto the bed. He couldn't help but smile at her laugh, and his fingers swiftly found her sides– her laughing only becoming louder.
"Stop it, Daddy!" She giggled, squirming. "That tickles!"
"What's the magic word?" Alain asked, grinning.
"Da-daddy!" She laughed.
"I don't think that's the magic word," Alain said thoughtfully, his fingers coming to a stop, face twisted in an exaggerated look of thought. Faith used the moment to 'break free' from Alain, tackling him. Alain fell back onto the bed with a dramatic grunt, even though Faith was nowhere near strong enough to do so, but the small giggle she gave was worth it. She sat on his chest, smiling down on him triumphantly.
"I win!" She declared.
"Yes you do," Alain said, wrapping his arms around her as he sat up, pushing himself to his feet. "You win the amazing prize of... helping Daddy clean up your toys!"
A pouting look came onto her face. "I don't wanna clean up!"
"Neither do I," Alain said. "But we need to."
Pleading amber eyes looked up at him. "Do it later?"
"No, we need to do it now," Alain said, and she stuck out her lower lip.
"Please?" She asked, leaning against him, giving her father the biggest begging eyes she could manage. Alain stared down at her, knowing that he needed to stay firm no matter how adorable she looked right now. "Clean up later– after we play outside?"
Alain hesitated, and Faith took the opportunity to give him another long 'please', and Alain's willpower crumbled. "...Do you promise to clean up as soon as we're done playing outside?"
"Yes!"
"Okay," Alain said, setting her on the ground. "But as soon as we're done we're going to clean up no matter what."
"Okay!" She chirped– racing for the door.
He followed behind her, even though the young girl was already bolting for the backdoor. Alain felt exhausted, a different exhaustion than coming home from work, but still exhausted. Playing with her for a few minutes was one thing, but it was startling to find out just how much energy she had, and he was finding it hard to believe she had already had a nap today.
How did Mairin keep up with her everyday?
"Daddy?" Faith asked, pausing by the backdoor. "What are Char-zar and Tyranitar doing?"
Alain's eyes widened for a second– remembering just how close the two Pokemon had become in the last few months– and he raced for the door, pulling Faith away as quickly as he could. She let out a yelp of surprise, confusion in her eyes as she once again found herself in her father's arms. She poked his cheek, giggling at his pale face.
Alain risked a glance out the window– but only saw Tyranitar at the base of a tree, glaring angrily upwards.
"Why'd you do that?" Faith asked, tilting her head. "Char-zar's just being silly– she's up in the tree."
"...Oh," Alain said, stepping towards the door once more. There was a look of relief in his eyes as he spotted an orange shape up in the boughs of the tree, a metallic band in her claws. He opened the door. "Charizard– give Tyranitar's mega stone back to him!"
Tyranitar let out a roar of agreement, while Charizard let out a laugh, holding the band with the Tyranitarite out tauntingly. This only made the rock type more frustrated, stomping his feet angrily, and Charizard laughed harder. Alain sighed– wondering when babysitting his Pokemon had been added to his duties of watching Faith, and he headed outside.
"Tar!" Tyranitar screamed, clenching a fist as he prepared a Stone Edge.
"Yeah– no," Alain said, snapping his fingers with his free hand, and the Pokemon paused from forming its attack. "No launching moves in the backyard. Charizard, you get down here right now and return his mega stone or else you're both going back into your Pokeballs."
Charizard let out a rumble, but she spread open her wings and glided down to the ground– dropping the mega stone right on Tyranitar's head. The rock type let out a panicked screech, seizing the band and looking over the mega stone in a fright. He let out a sigh once he found it wasn't scratched, and slipped it back onto his arm, hissing at Charizard.
"That's no way to treat your mate," Alain said– and his two Pokemon stiffened up. Charizard's scales flushed to a red, and she let out a tangle of sounds, waving her arms and wings about, as if trying to deny the statement. Faith let out a giggle at the sight, shifting in Alain's arms.
Tyranitar hadn't said anything– simply staring in the other direction as if Alain hadn't said anything of the sort. The rock type looked at Charizard for a moment, before once again looking away before anyone would notice he was looking. Charizard was still letting out flustered snarls and calls at Alain, waving her claws at him as if refusing to accept what he said.
"You guys aren't exactly subtle, you know," Alain said, raising an eyebrow. "Getting upset if I try to put one of you in a Pokeball. Sleeping right next to each other every night– and then of course these childish fights. If you guys honestly don't think you're an item then you're both blind."
Charizard glowered at Alain.
He smiled sweetly at her, knowing that he wasn't at risk for a Flamethrower as long as Faith was in his arms. He turned towards his daughter. "Okay, now that's settled, what do you want to do?"
"Fly on Char-zar!" Faith cried excitedly.
"Well, um," He hesitated, looking at the lizard uncertainly. "That probably isn't the safest idea..."
"Kadey rides on her!" Faith protested.
"Well, as long as I'm with you I guess a short flight will be okay..." Charizard went onto all fours as he spoke, folding in her wings so she could be mounted. Faith let out a happy squeal, and he uncertainly approached his starter, sliding onto her back. "Take it slow Charizard– don't go too high, and–"
The lizard snorted, cutting him off as she flared open her wings. This wasn't the first time she had worked with young humans, and she wasn't about to be told what she already knew. Alain gulped, making sure Faith was secure in his arms as Charizard lowered herself to the ground, preparing to take off.
-----------------------------------------------------
"Faith, you promised me," Alain said, crossing his arms.
"But I'm hungry! I can't clean up when I'm hungry!"
"...Will you help me pick up your toys after dinner then?" Alain asked.
Faith nodded. "Uh-huh!"
He let out a long sigh. "Alright then, we can have dinner first. But right after that we need to clean up all of the toys."
Faith flashed him a grin.
-----------------------------------------------------
It wasn't until dinner and two games later that he was finally able to get Faith to help him clean up the mess of toys that she made. She had protested despite her promises, eyes watering as she pouted– but he had given into her too many times today.
"Hmph!" She huffed as she stalked past him, a single toy in her arms as she dragged it to a toy box.
"Oh don't give me that," Alain said, multiple toys in his arms. "I'm the one doing most of the work."
"But I wanna play some more," She whimpered, slowly dropping her toy into a basket. Alain was wondering at what point they had collected so many toys for her, and how she had gotten them all out within a day. She wasn't even three yet, she didn't need this many toys.
"Well, there won't be anymore playing tonight," Alain said. "After this it's bath time and then off to bed."
Alain realized that he probably shouldn't have said this at all, because he just had enough time to deposit the toys into the box when he saw a blur of black– Faith bolting from the bedroom as fast as her little legs could carry her. He blinked once, before letting out a loud sigh. He hurried after her, the young girl already dashing down the stairs.
Alain caught up with her fairly easily, scooping her up into his arms. "Nice try, missy, you're getting a bath no matter what."
He decided it wasn't worth the effort to have them finish cleaning up the bedroom, it was nearly Faith's bedtime anyways, and it would probably take another ten minutes to make a dent in the mess, he'd just clean it up himself once she was asleep. Faith was currently pouting in his arms as she was carried back upstairs and to the bathroom.
Much to Alain's relief he found that Mairin had laid out everything needed– towel, clean clothes, and the shampoo she had been so insistent on.
"I need my Duck-its!" Faith suddenly shrieked as Alain put her down, and he looked at her in surprise and confusion.
"What?"
"My Duck-its and mama Swanna!" She cried. "They hafta take a bath with me!"
Alain remembered the two rubber Ducklett toys and the Swanna toy they had been playing with earlier... which were currently buried in the bin of toys in the bedroom. Alain let out a long sigh, and began to run the water.
"How about they take a bath with you next time, okay?" He said.
This was apparently the wrong answer.
"No! No! They hafta take a bath with me, they hafta!" Faith cried, and Alain just stared at her with exasperation. It was strange to see the normally cheery Faith look like she was on the verge of a tantrum, especially over some bath toys. He let out a long sigh, knowing that there wasn't going to be an easy way out of this.
"...I'll go look for them," Alain said at last, and instantly Faith's distressed expression vanished, the young girl beaming up at him.
And honestly, that smile was what Alain lived for.
-----------------------------------------------------
Despite Faith being the one in the tub, Alain was positive that more water had ended up on him. And also despite her efforts to avoid getting into the tub, she had refused to get out once they had actually finished. She had been in tears as Alain drained the water, and if it wasn't already eight o'clock he probably would have let her play for a while.
Getting her ready from there had been just as much of a struggle, her going basically limp as he tried to get her into her pajamas, refusing to open her mouth so he could brush her teeth. It was a side of Faith he had honestly never really seen before, even on the weekends it was usually Mairin that got her ready for bed, and if she always put up this much of a fight Alain wasn't sure how Mairin did it every day.
"Another story!" Faith cried, jumping eagerly on her bed as Alain set aside their third story book.
"No sweetie, it's time to go to sleep," Alain replied.
"No! I wanna another story!" She was surrounded by stuffed Pokemon– having spent at least five minutes picking out the plushie she wanted to sleep with, and had apparently decided on all of them. Alain sat on the edge of the bed, giving his daughter an exasperated look as she crawled out from her covers once more, about to dart over to her bookshelf.
"Faith, I said no," Alain replied, carefully grabbing her before she could bolt, tucking her back under the covers. "We got read several stories already, and it's already past your bedtime. You got to stay up late tonight– isn't that cool?"
Apparently it wasn't cool, her lower lip curling. "I wanna another story."
"How about a song?" Alain offered instead. He honestly didn't like singing, but he was more than willing to for his daughter.
She pressed her lips together, considering this. "...Okay. Only if you do the actions as well."
"Only one song though," He said. "And then it's time for bed– promise?"
"I promise!" She chirped, but Alain only raised an eyebrow, having seen how well she had kept her other promises today. "Start by singing baby Sharpedo!"
"There's no such thing as a baby Sharpedo, because that'd be a Carvanha..."
"Huh?"
Alain just gave her a smile, and started singing.
-----------------------------------------------------
Mairin came home while Alain was singing his fifth song.
"It looks like you two are having fun," Mairin said in the doorway of Faith's bedroom, raising an eyebrow at a very tired looking Alain. "But isn't it a little past your bedtime, Faith?"
"Daddy said I could stay up!" Faith said happily.
"No I didn't!" Alain cried, and Faith once again began to crawl out from under her covers. "She won't go to sleep," He quickly grabbed her, once again tucking her in, and she let out a giggle. "I've tried everything but she won't listen to me!"
"Faith, have you been good for Daddy?" Mairin asked, and she let out a small giggle. "Because when he says it's time for bed that means it's time for bed."
"But I wanna another song!" Faith declared.
"I've got this," Mairin said to Alain, who gave her a grateful smile. He pushed himself to his feet, Mairin taking his place on the edge of the bed. He ducked out of the room, waiting in the hallway.
He couldn't quite make out what the two girls were saying as they whispered quietly to one another– but in just a few minutes Mairin was slipping out of the bedroom, flicking the lights off behind her. He could hear Faith cooing out a 'goodnight' as she shut the door, the little girl staying in bed, a small smile on Mairin's face.
"How?" He asked in disbelief. "What did you do?"
"I told her it was time for bed," Mairin replied, heading towards their room.
"But I told her that as well and she wouldn't settle down!" Alain protested, careful to keep his voice quiet. "Story after story, song after song– she'd just climb right back out of bed if I tried to leave!"
"You just got to be firm with her, Alain," Mairin replied, holding back a laugh. "It's like with Pokemon, you give an inch they take a mile. What else did you let her get away with tonight, if she was able to stay up until nine?"
"I didn't let her get away with anything," Alain said defensively. "I know how to take care of our child... though she didn't really want to clean up her toys," He hesitated. "Actually, we never finished doing that..."
Mairin was smirking. "You gave her an inch."
Alain didn't reply as they made their way to their room.
It wasn't that late, but it seemed both of them were tired from their day. They both started getting ready for bed without much thought, Mairin talking about her girl's night out. Apparently the movie was good (though not as good as How to Train Your Latios, she insisted) and that they would have to watch it together sometime. Alain nodded and listened, but found his thoughts continually drifting back to Faith.
It hadn't been an easy afternoon, but it had been the first time in a long time he had spent real quality time with his daughter. It was startling to think that only a couple of years ago she had been a tiny baby, and before that... she hadn't been apart of their life at all. It was a hard thought to comprehend, trying to picture Faith not being there, even though he had spent most of his life without her.
And with a twisting feeling in his gut, he realized he was still doing that.
He didn't want to admit it, but there was times when Faith had almost seemed like a stranger tonight, seeing sides of her he had never really seen. Not that he didn't know his own child... but how there was so much he was learning by just spending that immediate time with her. Time he usually spent away at the lab or up in his office...
What he was doing wasn't bad. He was furthering his education, expanding his research and job opportunities, he was bringing in money to support the family he loved. But lately he had been pushing himself, trying to go farther, and that was taking time away from his family. He was working hard, doing something he loved, but...
But was it something he loved more than his family?
Time wasn't unlimited, it was slipping away through his fingertips. Not that long ago Faith had been tottering with each step and stumbling over her words, but she was growing so swiftly, and that would only continue. If he continued pressing towards the goals he had set, more of that time would slip away.
Becoming an independent researcher... it was a goal he wanted to reach, but that didn't mean he was enjoying the road there. And if reaching that goal meant being taken away from his family life... he didn't know if it would be something he'd love once he reached that goal. It would mean perhaps working from home, but still locked away in his office or out traveling to gather data.
It would mean not only being away from his home here, but from Sycamore's lab as well. Away from the first place he had truly felt safe, the place he had first felt like he had a family. Was that something he wanted to give up?
"Alain, are you okay?" Mairin asked quietly as they climbed into bed, and Alain realized his eyes were watering. He swiftly blinked them away, turning.
"Where's my phone?" He asked quietly.
"On the dresser, why?" Mairin asked, and he pushed himself to his feet.
"I need to talk to the professor," He said, hands clamping around the cell phone. "I... I want to go back to my regular shifts."
"But what about those hours you need?" Mairin asked, blinking in confusion.
"...I don't want them," Alain said, thumb hovering over the call button. "They're... they're not worth it. Not when they're taking me from you. From Faith."
"Wait a second!" Mairin cried, and he glanced at her as he headed back towards the bed. "Is this because of what I said to you yesterday? Alain, I was just a little frustrated, I wasn't saying to give up what you've been working towards–!"
"But I don't want to give up you for that!"
She reached out, grabbing his arms and forcing him to sit. "Alain. Yes, these last few weeks have been stressful, but it's only temporary. I don't want you to give up something you love because of what I said."
Alain hesitated. "It wasn't because of what you said. It was because of tonight," Swallowing, he slowly set the phone on the lamp table. "Mairin... she's growing up, and I haven't been there for half of it. My little baby is growing up and I... I don't want to miss anymore."
Mairin didn't reply.
"I have a good job, one that supports us, one that I love... why on earth do I need a new one? One that will take me away from the lab and from you and from our daughter?" His mouth went dry. "...I don't want it. I don't want that, I don't want it, I don't want something like that, I don't–"
He went quiet and he felt Mairin's arms wrapping around him. "I'll support you with whatever you choose, Alain."
He turned, pulling her against his chest. "I choose you," He whispered. "I choose this family, I don't want to grow any farther away," His lips brushed against her forehead. "I'm calling the professor first thing tomorrow..."
"I'm sure Faith will be thrilled to have you around more," Mairin said with a smile.
"...She has so much energy," Alain said after a moment. "How do you keep up with her all day?"
Mairin laughed. "I don't. Chespie and Bébé know how to keep her entertained when needed. Or we go to the park and she finds some playmates to keep her occupied for a bit," Mairin smirked, poking his chest. "Maybe she needs a little sibling to keep her occupied."
Alain knew that Mairin was just teasing, a playful gleam in her eyes as she pushed up against him, but he couldn't help but go still as she said this. He just stared at her for a few moments, thoughts turning, his wife still wrapped in his arms.
"...Why not?" Alain asked, and Mairin blinked at him.
"...Huh?" She replied– clearly having not expected this response.
"I mean, do we want Faith to be an only child?" He said slowly, surprising himself as he said this– but yet he felt no doubt at the idea. "I wouldn't mind a son... you girls are starting to out number me."
Mairin blinked again, before letting out a laugh. "Going from too scared to be a dad to the one wanting another kid?" She asked, raising an eyebrow– but she was smiling. They sat in silence for a few moments, taking in the idea. It was all so sudden, but yet for Alain it felt so right. "Another baby... heh, that would definitely be a change. But if you're going to be home more often... and I'm sure that Faith would be excited."
Alain rolled over so Mairin was below him, pulling her into a kiss, before quietly whispering into her ear. "Well, you did say you wanted a day of just you and me, so it seems this all works out then, doesn't it?"
"Yeah! I wanna a little sister!"
Both Mairin and Alain froze up as they heard the small excited voice, turning just in time to see a small shape pushing the door fully open. Faith had a huge grin on her face, an Eevee doll in one hand as she looked at her parents happily.
"Faith you're supposed to be in bed!" Mairin cried, her face suddenly turning red, Alain still right above her.
"I'm thirsty," She replied, and she looked between them excitedly. "But you guys were talking about babies? Are you gonna to get me a little sister? How do you get a baby–?"
"Let's go get you that drink– okay sweetie?" Alain suddenly declared very loudly, rolling out of bed and scooping up Faith before she could continue.
"Alain, do you want me to?" Mairin asked, still looking slightly flushed from Faith's sudden entrance, even if nothing had actually happened. "That way I can put her back to bed afterwards?"
"I've got it," Alain replied, looking at Faith sternly. "We're going straight back to bed after we get you some water, okay?"
"I want milk!"
"You already brushed your teeth, we're going to get you some water," Alain replied, nodding at Mairin to show that he could handle this. Maybe Faith had been able to pull some strings earlier, but he was more than capable of putting their daughter to bed.
He carried her out of the room, Faith pressing up against him as they headed down to the kitchen. She was chattering away about nothing in particular as Alain searched for sippy cup, that way she could take it up to her room in case she needed another drink later. She was moving her Eevee toy about, the stuffed Pokemon currently 'climbing' up Alain's head.
"Veevee made it to the top of the mountain!" Faith declared, a blur of brown covering Alain's eyes as he tried to fill up the cup.
"Good for him," Alain said as the toy was pulled away from his face. "Is Veevee the best climber?"
"Almost," Faith said, face twisting in thought. "Veevee is a super-good climber, but Gogo is the super-good-best climber. At least Mom says Gogos are good climbers."
"Gogoats are very good climbers, they can jump pretty high as well," Alain said, needing to set Faith down so he could fit the lid onto the cup, and he handed it to her. "Here you go, one drink for little Ms. Faith."
"Princess Faith," Faith corrected, sucking on the sippy cup as Alain scooped her back up into his arms. She began chattering way about how she was going to play princesses tomorrow and how all of her toys would be princesses too. She seemed to get more excited with each word, practically bouncing in his arms by the time they had once against reached her room. "And then the Duck-its will be the evil bad Pokemon that take Princess Veevee and then–"
"It sounds like it's going to be a very fun game," Alain said, tucking her back under the covers. "But it's time for bed now, okay?"
"...I wanna story," Faith said after a moment, looking up at Alain.
"Nuh-uh– you already had plenty of stories tonight, it's bedtime."
She looked up at him with big eyes. "Can you sing me a song?"
Alain hesitated, glancing at the door, before sitting down on the edge of her bed. "...One song– and only one song– and then straight to bed after, okay?"
Faith beamed, eyes gleaming. "Okay!"
Mairin found them about ten minutes later– Faith out of bed and on the ground, happily playing with some toy cars as she pushed them across the room. Alain was up on the bed, leaning against the wall, eyes closed and soft snores coming from him as Mairin entered. She looked down at Faith, raising an eyebrow.
"Daddy's songs made him fall asleep and not me," Faith informed her, sending a toy truck crashing into a car– and Mairin just simply laughed.
