Celeste Sallow: OK THIS IS THE NAME IM SUPER PROUD OF BAHAHA because not only does the name celeste relate to the stars (in typical ravenclaw fashion...clora picked the name) but celeste sallow is also an alliteration. BUT, its an alliteration that begins with a C, which means clora gets to match with celeste in the form of both of their names starting with a C, whereas sebastian gets to match with celeste because both of their names are an alliteration/they're alliteration allies🥹ITS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!🥳

Lewis Sallow: as for lewis, if you've read my fic then you know that seb has a vendetta against names that start with an L bahaha, but 'lewis' was actually HIS idea. when celeste was born, seb wanted to find a muggle story to read to her, since clora's favourite story is ALSO a muggle one (sherlock), and he wanted to stick with tradition. so he ended up finding alice in wonderland, which he loved because of how adventurous and clever alice was and of how much she reminded him of clora and celeste (both personality and looks wise). it became his favourite for those reasons, to the point that when they had lewis, sebastian overcame his L-name hatred by naming their son after lewis carroll.

Houses: celeste could have been sorted into either gryffindor or slytherin, but ultimately ends up in slytherin because she wants to be like seb. kinda like how clora also probably could have been in gryffindor, tbh. as for lewis.....him being 10000% in ravenclaw doesnt need any explanation BAHA, just look at him.

Appearance: since clora has a tiny bit of veela blood in her, thats obvs passed down to their kids, too, and so they mostly take after her as a result of it. but there's still little bits of seb that shine through in each of the kids: for lewis its his brown curly hair, and for celeste its her complexion/freckles. and the fact that celeste looks so similar to clora only doubles up sebastian's stress/protective instincts when he watches her BAHAH. he's ofc still proud that she takes after him so closely, but seb also cant deny that he wishes it had been their SON that had taken after him instead, to keep her out of danger.

Celeste & Lewis: for celeste and lewis’ relationship, celeste is a super proud big sister, and treats lewis kinda like how seb treats clora. if there's anything that needs to be done, she offers to do it for him. and although she doesn’t have the patience to read stories herself, she loves playing outside and having lewis read to her in the background, and loves to act out/use his stories to fuel her imagination. and lewis makes sure to pick stories that he KNOWS she’ll like (which mostly involve heroic and daring feats of adventurers or pirates. he's tried to read more classic fairytales and romances to her a few times, but celeste always gets bored). she loves to draw though, so sometimes when lewis reads books that have no pictures, she'll draw them herself.

Celeste & Seb/Clora: celeste is a daddy's girl LOL and always tries to impress seb with the stuff she does, especially after hearing how HE was at her age, and so its half to impress and half because shes competitive that she wants to do the same/be just as good. and seb always gets a kick out of hearing her feats in the crossed wands club, or in defense against the dark arts class, and he also goads her on, telling her she'll have to do better than that if she wants to be as good as HE was. and whenever celeste gets detention, clora always stresses and asks why, whereas seb just tries to keep the smirk off his face. as for celeste and clora, clora also reads to celeste, and bakes and cooks with her, which is something celeste actually likes doing. not only because it keeps her busy and she likes to help and get messy in general, but also because she likes the fact that it results in good food afterwards LOL, and constantly asks when things can be taken out of the oven. also, for as tomboy-y as celeste is, she honestly doesn't mind/likes the clothing that clora puts her in and likes when clora dresses her up, bc it makes her look like one of the princesses from the storybooks, and it just amuses her more than anything else. once she enters hogwarts, though, its mostly trousers. but she still DOES like the occasional girly clothing.

Lewis & Seb/Clora: lewis is a momma's boy LOL and unlike celeste, doesnt care about duelling or of proving himself or anything like that, and is only concerned with stories and his future studies. so ofc clora had to show him sherlock, which he naturally loved. it even inspired lewis to want to write his own stories, so that he could challenge his own skill and see if he could, but also because he wants his mom to read them, and likes the idea of writing his own sherlock-esque story with equations and mysteries to be solved that he can offer her. lewis also wants to write a book for celeste as well, bc although he wont admit it, he basically wants to write a story tailor-made for her and her interests. one that he thinks will have everything she’d love in it. and part of it is genuinely because he WANTS to do it for her, but the other part of it is also for his ego, and to see if he CAN write a compelling story, and write something that would actually get THE hyperactive celeste to sit down and read it in its entirety (not to mention of her own volition). as for with seb, lewis looks up to him more than anyone else, due to how well-rounded he is and how hes so good at practical stuff AND studying, and he kinda sees seb as a main character/protagonist from one of his books, and uses sebastian as inspiration for his own stories. if hes stuck on what he thinks the dashing main character should do next, he'll ask his dad what HE would do, which results in seb getting very weird questions that he nonetheless is always happy to answer. also, when lewis is older and finally learns the full story of what happened with clora and seb and ranrok and rookwood, he writes their story in novel form, except he just changes their names/some of the details, and it becomes a best seller LOL. and i didnt know where to put this, but the four of them all read a story before bed every night, with lewis in the middle and seb and clora on either side of him. though celeste stands at the foot of the bed, basically doing a charade/mime show of what theyre reading, and putting on a little play to go along with it BAHHA.

OK thats all i can think of for now ive yapped enough😩 if youve read all of this ur a real one.... ive also considered giving them a 3rd (and last) child, which would be a boy that looks exactly like seb, and seb would just be praying like please.....let this son take after me🧎‍♂️🙏 BAHHA

I've been doing a lot of reflection as of late, especially after this past class.

This past class was about the Torah and Tanakh in general, and the way the rabbi talked about the commandments (specifically the ten commandments) has made me really reflect on how I interpret them, specifically the fifth commandment, or honoring your mother and father.

This is a commandment I have wrestled with for a long time - in fact, it brought me away from g-d at multiple times. I was severely abused when I was incredibly young by my mother, and I used to feel insulted at the implication that I were to honor her while she got to live a better life. It was hypocritical, in my eyes.

But this rabbi surmised that this particular commandment was because parenthood is an act of creation, something that is like the g-d from which we come from. My realization is this: I don't think we're necessarily meant to take even these commandments literally.

I this particular commandment is more of a call to honor creation - creation is a gift, and like any gift, many people simply will not like it and will discard it. The person who abused me created me, but she did not honor creation. She didn't honor me, but I can still honor it.

I have started to honor creation much more. I'm too young, too unstable, not mature enough to be a father (though I fantasize about it), but I create all the time. I create relationships, I create with my hands through crochet. I create memories, I create my world. And I can honor who I am and where I came from that made me who I am. I've been learning one of the mother tongues of my family (Italian, since part of my family originates there) and it was judaism that inspired me to do this.

I don't think g-d wants me to honor my abuser. I think He wants me to remember the Holy action of creation. When I am a father, that act of creation will be Holy, and indeed, I am already joyful about the thought.

I have seen many people struggle with this particular commandment, but I think this perspective helps me personally. I don't think I ever have to forgive my abusers (plural), and I don't think I am commanded to simply because they happened to be family. I am commanded to recognize the holy, to elevate the mundane. In doing so, I will remember g-d. Through creation, I honor g-d and everything he has done for us, for me, and for our collective people.

At some point, Mohg's discarded soul caught onto Morgott as he traversed the Land of Shadow. And, reunited once more, Mohg's soul is able to find it's way back.

And Morgott can only weep; not in sorrow, but in joy.

... Perhaps... Mohg is holding Morgott's hand.

Either or... Leaning toward joy. For obvious reasons. 😔

YEAH everyone acknowledges he became this way because of the abyss but what i'm talking about is like. his character stories make it sound like he gained some sort of cognitohazard Strife Effect that makes chaos constantly break out around him and i've never seen anyone talk about THAT.

Specifically these lines:

Kind of make it sound like it's not an effect of his personality but rather some sort of passive aura he's exerting.

Of course, the reason no one talks about this could well be because it makes no fucking sense, when his personality itself is already quite sufficient to explain all the fights he gets into.

I always knew I wanted to do a celestial-bodies themed edit of the three of them, as they fit the respective roles so well. Some seem more surprising than others. I also took the chance to try out Achino's Photo Studio Light Set – it's incredible, and I recommend it to anyone wanting to experiment with in-game lights more. The beautiful halos are from sugarowl over at TSR, namely Crescent Halo, Spiked Halo, and Milkyway Halo.

My haitani father Shio headcanon is just a bit too funny cuz of how well it works that it sounds like a waste of perfect canon idea and crossover for both of wakui's works.

Aside from the obvious physical features very very obvious, identical eyes, nose, blonde eyebrows, rindou's face form, ran's hair color palette and (arguably) bonten hair style, blah blah i mean just look a the pictures below, you can also bring up any fact from either manga and add it to the hc and it fits in just SO WELL, i'll give the first example, The Haitanis are very obviously rich spoiled kids like have you seen their apartment? They have a fucking dj set, only rich kids with neglective powerful parents will have no problem paying for that, just saying, and even though i love him let's be real Shio is the type to be that parent, i mean cmon he's rich like crazy rich (filthy yakuza money yum yum) he tots would give his children WAY more than enough allowance so they can leave him alone, also the way they act, i've always the Haitanis were the type of kids that think they own the school cuz their dad is rich .

Nvm if this never becomes canon or both universes don't collide, it's just so entertaining to keep connecting the dots that were likely never there, like how Rindou is a heavy drinker cuz his father drank alot with the rest of the Yotsurugis and he tried to imitate him from a young age that it became an unhealthy habit or if you want to add more drama he only drinks cuz he looks up to his father but Shio favors Ran cuz he can posssibly succeed him (canon power complex) so Rindou resorted to drinking cuz it's the only thing like his dad that he can do. Heck yeah i made it angsty!!!

You can also add great context to his fear of Yakuza, picture this, when he was a kid he got up in the middle of night after hearing a loud noise to search for his parents and witnessed Shio (canon Yakuza) pew pew-ing some poeple and surrounded with scary men, that probably scarred him for life that he was so terrified when Kakucho got them interfering with some, OH OH something just came to mind, if he's the son of a yakuza yeah he didn't wanna clash with other yakuza families cuz it can end in a blood shed and risk his and his family's lives.

And i'm gonna add this one not very small detail and i swear i'll shut up (for now), i know it's just a stupid headcanon that is very far from becoming reality and i don't have to take it this deep but hear me out, why their last name is Haitani and not Yotsurugi like their dad, Shio is powerful and have many enemies right ? So he simply decided to protect his children and their identity by giving them another last name likely their mother's (yk like minato with naruto style plan ?) So Haitani is actually their mom's family name. I rest my case. Thank you for coming to my useless ted talk.

I saw people talking about that scene where Yassen shot Max as a huge betrayal of Alex and it's kinda funny to me like yeah he involved Alex in a murder but also I cannot emphasise enough that Alex decided to join a criminal organisation. People have been telling him he'll need to kill for days now, Alex has watched them kill multiple people already, I get that it sucks for him but you cannot team up with a known killer and be that shocked when actually his secret extra mission was to kill

this is another post I’m starting with ‘something I think about a lot’ but something I think about a lot is how in Toriyama’s version of things, it seems like the Freeza’s empire, generally, takes good care of its people, and I mean that in the most insidious possible way.

Iirc, Freeza’s empire is very very intentionally Toriyama’s commentary on imperial capitalism and corporatocracy (at least, he’s certainly explicitly stated Freeza is inspired by 1990s land developers in Japan). The ENG dub of the anime really consistently uses the word slavery in terms of the Saiyan relationship to the empire, but the manga and JPN dubs don’t, because slavery doesn’t typically include getting to independently keep and run your homeland and your government and your culture.

In Toriyama’s version, King Cold’s relationship with King Vegeta seems much more like corporate takeover. I read it as how major corporations work — finding businesses that are doing very well and offer to absorb them in a merger deal — which is not actually an offer, because the alternative is to be outmatched by a company who can afford to hemorrhage money to offer your consumer base your services at a fraction of your cost, until you shrivel up and die or fold and sign the contract.

As I understand Toriyama’s lore — Saiyans were conquering and selling planets to the highest bidder, and King V wandered into King Cold’s territory. Instead of destroying them outright, King Cold saw King V’s business model was raking in profit, and did the Dxsney thing. King V is not a good man but he’s not a stupid man! Maybe he tried to hold out, but the Freeza Force is huge and powerful and eventually huge powerful companies get what they want. (This is also true of the land developers Toriyama cites as Freeza’s inspiration, but they did it with more mafia behavior, like Freeza does).

And then King Cold stepped down as CEO, and his exceptionally cruel nepobaby son took over Daddy’s company, and Dxsney shut down Blue Sky and fired hundreds of employees. “It was the pandemic, we needed to cut costs”/“It was a meteor, and a tragedy” It’s an excuse to take out a competitor, and keep the most profitable pieces for yourself. So as Dxsney acquired the Ice Age (one of the highest grossing franchises of all time), so too did Freeza acquire Prince Vegeta (one of the most powerful saiyans ever born).

(The studio parallel is not the inspiration for Toriyama’s writing, it’s just the clearest example I can offer of the corporate/colonialism parallels at play with the Freeza Force)

And I say that it seems to me like, generally, and insidiously, the FF takes good care of its people because, much in the same way that people still buy into the Happiest Place on Earth Magic Kingdom marketing, a majority of the characters we’ve met in the Freeza Force are either runaways or survivors of lost worlds who are now protected by Freeza’s empire (there’s a blurb about Cheelai that says she a thief on the run from Galactic Patrol when she joined the FF, and cops don’t fuck with mega corporations.)

Cheelai’s blurb says she only knows Freeza by his reputation, despite her living on the same ship he is in DBS, which makes sense! They’re massive floating army bases, and randos do not simply meet the President. Freeza not only has these bases, but according to Vegeta, establishes a shiny massive new base on a planet, gets bored, and wanders off to find a new one to do the same thing (and is implied to have done so 79 times by the time he gets to Namek).

All this to say that, unless you’re in his military, his inner circle, or the Galactic Patrol, you likely don’t know (or think about) Freeza and the FF are very obviously the bad guys. All you’re exposed to is the beautiful buildings and all of the high-quality options (chefs like Lemu, for example) and safety and comfort (as Vegeta drags Cui for enjoying) you have within the empire, while never having to ask how it got there (and likely being removed if you do, tbh. This is a Legitimate Business, how dare you imply we are committing crimes).

And the thing I think about most, and I’ve been thinking about lately, and what made me think to write this down, is that Vegeta has spent his entire life inside the inner circle. Vegeta’s been a top dog in this empire since childhood. And he knew Freeza was powerful, he knew Freeza was in charge for a reason — but the thing that fucks me up is that he spent his whole life doing what they do, and was still shocked to learn it was Freeza who destroyed his planet. Even up through the more recent movies, it’s the only thing about Freeza he cites as unforgivable.

It’s Zarbon he condemns for the overwork he experienced, Dodoria he condemns for being a brainless thug, Cui he condemns for being a spineless leech, but Freeza, himself, he never suspected. Freeza, himself, to some degree, is someone Vegeta trusted and low-key modeled himself after.

I think so much about his hesitation to execute Freeza in Resurrection F; he was gone during Freeza’s fight with Goku, Trunks killed him in the blink of an eye. Vegeta has never, in 30+ years of knowing him, ever seen Freeza desperate. He’s never seen Freeza cornered. He never knew Freeza as a Weasel. He wouldn’t have any reason to expect Freeza to use an underhanded tactic. Even after everything he’d done and learned, Vegeta STILL, to some degree, trusted Freeza to die like a warrior, because he never knew Freeza the Nepobaby. He’d only ever experienced Freeza the Emperor. Vegeta’s fear was gone but his respect was still present, despite himself.

Anyway, tldr I am a huge fan of golden cage theory. Not just as it applies to Vegeta’s dynamic with Freeza, but as it applies to almost everyone within the empire’s dynamic with the empire itself. It’s imperial capitalism, it’s glistening corporotocracy. The bad people know how the sausage is made, the comfortable think the food is worth the cost, the rescues are grateful to have something to eat, and the opposed get quietly pushed into the grinder.

Clare is mischaracterized a lot lowkey because I think people love Clare for being an anxious lesbian so much that they instinctively craft a more palatable version of that trait onto her and it’s a shame because Clare is a fascinating little beastie. She is childhood friends with the likes of Erin and Michelle for a reason after all. She is arguably just as selfish as Erin /affectionate and just as impulsive as Michelle /affectionate it just is formed around the insane molten hot anxiety disorder inside her little lesbian brain. She thinks she’s better than them when in reality she is just as bad.

I’d argue she stays selfish /affectionate longer than Erin does. Until the final two episodes I fully believe Clare would have sold any of them up the river for a corn chip if that corn chip would save her skin. It’s often said that Clare and James hold the single brain cell but I think the truth is likely that Orla holds it and they just forgot to use it or hand it to someone cause they were going ham on a bag of sweets.

If you hate Erin for her selfish traits and just kinda forget that Clare is just as bad then idk what to tell you they’re birds of a feather.
