ifound a post abt jing yuan from someone and i rlly wnanna know what u think abt the cutscene w luocha and jingliu ToT im not head deep into lore but i got the gist of it. im so concerned for this man. 3/4 of his besties r criminals, supposed to be dead hates each other one doesnt even remember anything blade cant die whatever jingliu is upto w susboy merchant is probably not good and the 1/4 baiheng is dead-dead (i fink) ToT how does he livew w it
saurs if i got it all wrong the highcloud quintet is a mess and jing yuan is the minimum wage sweeper
spoilers ahead so if you haven't played through the 1.3 epilogue of xianzhou look away
with every new patch i fear for this mans health and wellbeing fr fr.
The High Cloud Quintet lore is just the meme of me going: WANNA SEE HOW MUCH I CAN CRY? before i proceed to sob my entire soul out at this point i love these people so unnaturally much that the fallout is just a big slap over and over again.
I can also go on about High Cloud Quintet but for the sake of my sanity I won't-
The cutscene with Jingliu and Luocha very much insinuates that we're going to return to the Xianzhou in the future, which I do hope we get more explantion this time around because how the storytellers handled Xianzhou was very much an up and down rollercoaster with an anticlimatic ending. (i just like jing yuan so i can hype myself enough by seeing his 3D model on screen, but otherwise the ending left much more to be desired).
As for the actual cutscene - Jingliu here ready to actually go for the Aeon herself and not the abominations who worship them. I don't know how much of her sanity is left within her since I have to put on my actual reading comprehension glasses on to piece stuff together from my own notes HAHAHA All I can say is that Luocha actually hating Yaoshi with a passion was a bit unexpected, but I'm very much up for this expy of Otto to kill an Aeon whose whole goal is to give life to people wanting it.
Jing Yuan left behind to fix whatever the hell happened. He may have not suffered as much as the other 4, BUT BOY DOES HE HAVE TO KEEP REMEMBERING THEM TO PROTECT THE XIANZHOU LMFAO

Mystic Messenger 7th Anniversary Analysis
Is it that time of the year again? Yup! It’s that time of year! That means I get to spend my evening writing about the themes in this promotion as well as take my guess at what’s going to happen in the photo. God knows I will be talking about the official release of the image when it comes out as well because it’s bound to have a lot of Easter Eggs.
Last year, we had a lot of tidbits in the photo that kept popping up every time I looked around for another spot!
Now, there is only so much I can muse over with what they’ve given us but I’ll do my best for all of you.
Alright. Let me get this out of my system in all caps first. OH MY GOD. IT’S THE WEDDING OF A LIFETIME. IT’S OUR WEDDING. HEY, MCs. WE’RE ALL THE NEXT TO GET MARRIED. NOBODY’S LEFT OUT. I’M GOING TO SOB RIGHT NOW. ACTUALLY, I AM SOBBING. I STIMMED SO HARD FOR. LIKE. I DON’T KNOW. TWENTY MINUTES. THE THOUGHT OF SEEING MY HONEY IN THE WEDDING APPAREL HE NEEDS FOR THE SECOND TIME IS SENDING ME INTO A FRENZY.
Because, the last time Saeran was dressed like a groom, our lovely SapphireIceCream drew it!
I still like to look at him.
If he and Saeyoung both are sporting side-swept bangs, that’s the end of me. Every time I see Saeran with in that hairstyle, I froth at the mouth. He’s just so handsome and I don’t know what to do with myself. it’s a shame that he gets that hairstyle in a BE for the RAE. It’s so stylish for him and I never know what to do with myself when he does that. I’ll need to scream again now.
OKAY. OKAY. HE’S GONNA BE SO PRETTY. OH, BOY. THIS IS COMING BY TOMORROW NIGHT AND I DON’T KNOW HOW I’M GOING TO SURVIVE. I HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR BUT. OKAY. OKAY. Phew. Okay, I think I got most of it out of my system. Expect the more sentimental post about this anniversary to come out when I’ve had the time to sit down and look at the title screen when its revealed.
ONTO THE POST!
Tumblr media
Alright, you know the drill. I’ve got to sit here and figure out where everyone is in the photo and clown on myself later if I get it wrong. Oftentimes, when Saeran is in a group photo with Zen, it’s impossible to tell those two apart. Everyone else... not so much. They’ve got defined and bright colors that help us find them in the blurring pattern. They’re laying on the ground, grass, more likely than not. There is so much we can’t see in this photo so this analysis is limited!
Like, you can look at this and know right off the bat Jumin is in a secure spot next to Saeyoung, and opposite of him is V with his bright hair that’s about as noticeable as a traffic light in a cornfield.
So, the only reason I think I have even a fraction of a guess right this time is due to the pink on who I presume is Saeran. On top of that, they wouldn’t put Saeran in a spot that isn’t next to his brother. The pattern would be to keep the routes at each other’s sides, too. So, Jumin and Saeyoung side by side, Jaehee, Zen, and then Yoosung next to each other, then Jihyun and Saeran at the end.
That makes the most sense to me.
So, we know that they’re going to be in wedding attire. I can’t tell most of their outfit details. Not everyone is wearing a white outfit, that’s for sure. It looks like Jumin’s in a black tuxedo. V might be wearing a blue one, and there is just... I’m not sure how much green is on Yoosung in this photo, but there is a lot of green there. I hope he’s not wearing a lime-green tuxedo.
He’s not holding flowers, but Yoosung is definitely throwing me off. Those smudges of color do make me very much think of flowers, and if Jaehee is holding flowers, there’s a chance a lot of them are holding flowers, too.
But, there’s no guarantee on all of them. Each character has the chance to be holding flowers, a ring box, or what have you. I did color sample the strongest areas of saturation to help me assume the placement of characters, too. So, if it’s flowers, thank you flowers, you saved me a lot of trouble in trying to gauge where everyone is. God.
I’m going to lose my find trying to gauge what all of the flowers are...
Tumblr media
Jaehee is a lily. She is a yellow lily in particular, and that got me to chuckle quite a bit. Lilies are a known reference for sapphics in different popular media, and I think it’s great to see more staples of Jaehee’s love for women out in the open. I know we all appreciated the rings on Jaehee and MC as well as the rainbows on the birthday hats, as well as the winter ice-skating date on her last birthday. It’s a good year to be a woman lover, bless up, sapphics. Jaehee lovers, you deserve this.
Yellow Lilies are a way to say a few things, but one of the most popular ones is gratitude. Being thankful for a person in your life. Is that not the way she feels as she grows closer to her MC? She’s grateful because you fell into her life when it was the lowest point of her emotional journey. She hit rock bottom and you took a single look at her and told her she could follow her heart instead of trying to be a cog in the machine to survive. She doesn’t need to just survive.
She needs to thrive.
Jaehee needs passion!
And you gave her that, so of course, she’s thankful that you came into her life when you did. It’s like saying, “You are the sunshine in my life, you breathe life into me just by being close to me.” Which, hey, that’s wonderful. Jaehee being in this photo makes me so happy, and seeing her with lilies... Ah. I hardly get to talk about her but I love to think about Jaehee! She’s a wonderful person and seeing her smile makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Ninja Daily: Vapors 89
Consciousness returned in stages. Pain was the first, but that was so familiar that it seemed like a constant state of being. The blissful feeling that she had some chakra back was the next thing Aiko knew. She wasn't awake enough to know why that was a good sign, but it was such a marked improvement from the last thing she knew that it seemed Aiko would never take it for granted again. She'd heard of chakra deprivation being used as torture before, but now it made sense.
Her vision still wasn't back. At least she had colors again, though, instead of just red. "That's a bad sign," she mumbled to herself, sitting up.
There was a curse.
"Sit down, stupid," a vaguely familiar voice snapped. A warm hand pressed her back down into the sheets. "You've been out for days. We got you a civvie doctor and she said the swelling should be going down, but…"
"We thought you were dead," another female voice said bluntly. "I'm glad you're waking up, because we aren't really that far from Ame and they're bound to be looking for us. We weren't exactly inconspicuous stumbling into town with you sobbing over Nii's shoulder."
"Yes, I hardly wish to linger here either," the lower voice confirmed dryly. "Uzumaki, are you following me?"
"I don't know what's going on," she mumbled, doing her level best to sink into the warm sheets around her body. The weight was comforting.
"Oh, shit," the first voice cursed lowly before becoming something softer and strangely maternal. "I'm Nii Yugito. Remember me? And this is Fuu, from Waterfall. You owe her a fight. Don't you fucking dare die on us now after we risked our lives to get you medical attention," the first voice warned.
Realization was unpleasant. "I remember," Aiko croaked out, reaching up to rub at her throat. "So, you say my head is better?"
"Yes and no," Fuu answered. "The swelling has gone down, but the original problem still remains. Civilian medicine doesn't have a fast solution, and we can't afford to stay here. You need to go home. Do you understand that?"
Fast solution or not, thank god that they'd gotten her a doctor. The pain in her head was much more analogous to what it had been when Itachi had first diagnosed her than what it had been even half a day later. She almost wished she'd been awake to thank the person who'd probably saved her life.
"What about you two?" Aiko sat up, letting her blankets fall down. "I mean, since you both stayed, can I assume you see the lack of sense in splitting apart right now to let them pick us off? I can take us back to Konoha. I promise you'll be safe."
"Can you really promise that?" Yugito was transparently skeptical.
"Yes," she guaranteed sincerely, turning to stare at the tannish blur that she was relatively certain was Yugito. "The Hokage is honorable enough not to capture two soldiers who came to her for assistance, and she's pragmatic enough to know that detaining you would mean war. If she tries, I'll fight her on it."
"It would mean war… If it hasn't already been declared," Yugito sighed tiredly. "The Raikage is furious, I am sure."
"Yeah," Aiko murmured, staring down at her legs. "I bet. I wish we could have just given you back C, opened up talk, and started to defuse all this crap."
There was a rather heavy silence, before Yugito pointed out with slowly dawning horror. "Uzumaki… we sent the message with the Hokage's reply as soon as we had it. The Raikage had already pre-approved a messenger to take a missive to Konoha so that his reply would be waiting when the Hokage got back. C was probably sent out days before any news from Kumo could have reached your country after this all happened. The Raikage… he's probably already declared war, but your escort team would have already left days before that news reach Konoha."
"He'll kill them," Fuu pointed out clinically. "Konoha won't know that the relationship isn't salvageable until its far too late to catch up, so it's highly unlikely that anyone would be able to stop them in time to save them. And then when it comes out that Konoha was uninvolved…"
"We'll already be committed, because Lightning will have made an unprovoked attack on a diplomatic team," Aiko summed hollowly. Well. That fucking blows. "Maybe it's not too late. Do you have any idea when that meeting was set for, where, and what day it is now?"
"Probably tomorrow," Yugito informed. "It's a long trip from Konoha to the border of Lightning. The timing was intended to force Tsunade to immediately send a team to avoid being late so that it was impossible to get there early and set up an ambush. They won't be dead yet. Konoha will know and have decided if they would rather risk sending a fast team in hopes of catching them or not, however."
Aiko paused for a long moment. "Do you guys ever feel like it's really exhausting to be a totally badass bitch all the time? I guess we should get moving. Konoha first."
"You just don't learn, do you," Fuu commented dryly, but she put a steadying hand on Aiko's shoulders nonetheless while she crawled out of bed.
"I most certainly do not," she lied briskly, crinkling her nose up at the teal-haired girl. She was a much more colorful blob than Yugito and thusly easy to identify. "Come on, you sissy. Don't tell me you're going to turn down another fabulous Hiraishin trip?"
"I could easily die happy with never experiencing that again." Someone flicked the back of her head. "But come on; that would be exponentially less likely to end with us getting snatched back up. We're barely past the border to Rain. I would be shocked if they weren't close."
"Alright, alright," Aiko sighed, blindly reaching out to grab at what she assumed was Yugito's arm. "Am I touching both of you? Yes?" She tugged.
The silence that followed was unexpected. "Ah, Tsunade-sama?" she tried, turning in a circle. There was no response from her Hokage.
"The office is empty," Yugito breathed. The sound of quick footfalls gave her the impression that she was walking to the window. "But we're definitely in Konoha," she pronounced grimly. "There's an enormous crowd around the other side of the building."
"Oh, she's making some sort of announcement," Aiko theorized vaguely. With much more effort than she'd like, she sought out Kakashi's Hiraishin, thinking she would just go to him rather than let two foreign nin guide her blindly through their administration building.
'Well, fuck. He appears to be passing through Bear country. With Yamato, and princess C. I probably should have noticed that before.'
That sucked big time.
"Maybe we should walk from here," Fuu said dryly, appearing to correctly interpret where Aiko's mind had gone. "It's just around the building. You use that as a crutch too often, and it's been hurting you. I don't fancy being trapped here while everyone dances around asking why our Konoha escort is unconscious and drooling on the floor."
Aiko reluctantly agreed despite her reservations. That would be a pretty awful situation to put Fuu and Yugito in after promising them safety. She let them lead her through the winding tower, planning to come up behind Tsunade on the balcony to check what was going on.
What she heard was not encouraging.
"Konoha can pull together. It is the strength in every one of us here, no matter who we are. We do not wish for war, but when it is come to our doorstep, will we cower?"
'No', came the answering reply from hundreds of voices below.
"Oh, this is awkward…" Aiko mumbled, feeling her face flush pink. There was a feminine gasp. A moment later, she was wrapped up in what felt like a running hug.
"Kami, Aiko!" Shizune sobbed into her shoulder, digging her fingers into the smaller girl's back. "I thought you were-we all thought you were…" She trailed off as her head raised from Aiko's neck. "Um… Would these ladies by any chance be-"
"Nii Yugito and Fuu?" Yugito asked dryly. "Yes. We just made an exciting escape. Can we go home now?"
Shizune was silent and still for a moment. "We should probably stop the war rally then, huh? Ah… Would you three ladies wait here?" She padded off a moment, and Tsunade's voice trailed off. She made a quiet, 'what?' and then there was covert whispering away from the sound system.
"I can't believe you people," Yugito whispered incredulously. "Isn't that going to be awkward?"
"Very," Aiko agreed. "But you know, whatever." She shrugged. "Would it be any better to call everyone back for another announcement tomorrow?"
The response was a disgruntled, "Ugh."
"Belay that!" Tsunade roared. A panicked whisper rustled through the crowd below. Despite their worry, her voice was downright chipper. "Men, women, and all manner of fabulous people of Konoha! I have just received badly timed but excellent news!" She paused, and in a faux-confidential tone into whatever was projecting her voice, "That means you can cheer again." An obliging roar of confused approval went up from the crowd. Fuu seemed to choke. "If you will recall I mentioned earlier that the Raikage thinks to lay blame for his recent misfortune at our feet."
Someone who sounded suspiciously like Karin yelled something rude, but most of the crowd was silent.
"He and others conclude that Konoha has begun hunting jinchuuriki. The declaration of war he has sent is a reflection of his desire to protect his own people, not proof that the Raikage wishes our destruction, and the sole evidence for his case rests upon the murky circumstances under which one of our own was kidnapped along with kunoichi from Cloud and Waterfall."
Fuu groaned. "She doesn't have to say it like that," she mumbled rebelliously. "It sounds like we're babies or something."
"Were you or were you not rolled up in a blanket and carried out of the hotel by a plant-man?" Yugito asked dryly. There was no response.
"Well, isn't he going to be embarrassed when we send back Nii Yugito, who is waiting in the tower behind me with Fuu of Waterfall and our own Uzumaki Aiko?"
There was a shocked silence. Then the street seemed to erupt with a deafening wave of sound.
"She lives for this theatrical crap, doesn't she?" Aiko sighed, curling her hands around the hem of her oversized shirt. "We should probably go out there."
"You first," Fuu replied mulishly.
Aiko raised a hand and pointedly waved it on front of her face. Then she stopped, because that was disorienting.
"Point taken." One of her companions wrapped a steadying arm around her waist again and the other hovered by her opposite shoulder, guiding her into the light and heat of day. The crowd was still going strong. She walked straight forward until the arm guiding her squeezed in warning and abruptly stopped.
"I feel like we should be waving or something," Yugito murmured, sounding so far out of her element that it wasn't even funny.
"Why the hell not." Aiko shrugged and lifted her right hand into a jaunty little wave above her head twice, and immediately jerked it back down when the volume only picked up. "I'm ready for this to be over now."
"I'm putting you on light duty for the next week," Sasuke briskly informed, briskly rubbing his thumbs into her temples. She tried not to wince. "That means no spars and try your best not to get kidnapped by international criminals. Stop wiggling, I need to be certain I got everything."
"Your bedside manner could use some work," Aiko critiqued sullenly.
There was a pause while he seemed to fight the urge to slap her upside the head and valiantly resisted on the grounds that he had just finished taking down the swelling and repairing the original damage from Konan-inflicted head trauma that had caused the trouble in the first place. "Shut up, idiot. There doesn't appear to be anything more than usual wrong with your head. Try following my finger."
Aiko pouted but obediently tracked the digit back and forth with her now perfect vision. "I could swear that you used to respect me," she sighed.
Sasuke gave her a thoroughly unimpressed look. "That was before I found out just how ridiculous you are."
'He's talking to me like I'm Naruto,' she noted with some bafflement.
"Be tsundere on your own time," Tsunade drawled, bopping her apprentice over the head with a clipboard as she sauntered in and tossed Aiko her headband, which had been left in Water Country since Aiko didn't wear it to bed. "Step aside. Lady with a hat coming through to check your work." At Sasuke's grunt, she placatingly added, "I trust you, but you've never seen anything like that before. Normally people either have the sense to die or are treated within a few hours with an injury like that," she grunted, nudging him aside and running a diagnostic. "Pretty good, Sasuke," she complimented. "Did you intentionally-"
"I thought it was better than the alternative," he replied immediately, tapping the clipboard Tsunade had handed over briskly.
She snorted. "Well, it's not conventional, but if the kunai cuts…" Tsunade straightened and pulled a sucker out of her pocket. Uncertainly, Aiko reached out to take it. "Well, unwrap it, little idiot." She petted Aiko's head.
'Everyone is weird. I swear these people used to be sane.'
Still, she obediently removed the cellophane and popped the candy into her mouth, letting the stick hang out the side of her lips. With her legs dangling over the edge of the examination table and swathed in her ridiculously oversized clothing, Aiko was starting to feel the creeping suspicion that Tsunade thought of her as a little kid.
"I'm an adult, you know," she pointed out a little rebelliously, narrowing her eyes at her Hokage. She didn't remove the candy, however. It was watermelon.
"Of course you are," Tsunade replied patronizingly. She turned to the door. "Which is why I don't need your legal guardian present for debriefing before I send you out again." She sighed. "I hate to push you, but I don't see another way to get Yugito back to Cloud's custody before Kakashi and Yamato get C there."
"I'll be fine," Aiko reassured, sliding off the table and following her out. Sasuke shoved his hands in his pockets and slouched out, hovering at her side the entire walk to the office as if he thought Konan was going to drop from the ceiling and snatch her again.
'Who knew he was such a worrywart?' She shot him an unimpressed look. Slowly, he turned his head to stare her down.
Aiko had to shiver and look away. Okay, so he had an amazing bitchface.
A Chuunin runner arrived in the office about the same time they did, with a fascinated expression and a set of boots that replaced Aiko's lost ones. That was her first big hint that Tsunade would be letting her go out again. She ended up having to stuff her oversized pants into the small amount of open space between her skin and boots.
'I definitely need to get out of these clothes. They don't really work for me at all.'
It didn't seem like there would be an opportunity for that any time soon, however.
Debriefing was a mess, in no small part because it was a little hard to pick apart what of her perceptions had been overly affected by her less than ideal state of mind at the time. She sort of suspected that Tsunade didn't need to know that Uchiha Itachi smelled of off-brand pine soap but that his towels were luxurious, even though it had seemed important to note at the time.
She gave descriptions of all the Akatsuki she had seen—including that Hidan was apparently not deceased—and confirmed that their base had been in Rain. Aiko took the opportunity to subtly drop hints about Uchiha Madara. She couldn't very well come out and say that he'd shared his secret plots with her, but she could plant seeds.
"Wait, are you certain that Itachi deferred to this person?" Sasuke frowned. "I thought that this 'Pein' was supposedly the leader."
"That's why it seemed so weird," Aiko sighed cluelessly. "It was subtle, like it wasn't supposed to be talked about, but he was definitely wary and more deferential to 'Tobi' than he was to 'Pein.' Actually…" She frowned, and let uncertainty cross her expression before she shook her head. "No, it's stupid, and it doesn't make any sense. But at the time, I thought there was some sort of… I don't know, a similarity between the two? Something hard to put my finger on, but maybe it was the way they moved when Tobi wasn't pretending to be an idiot. Like they had similar training or something." She heaved a helpless little shrug, palms up.
That seemed to set off all sorts of alarm bells for Tsunade, but she kept whatever reservations she had locked up tight. "You said that Itachi's behavior seemed inconsistent? How so?"
"Ah…" She bit her lip, searching for the best way to phrase this. Did Tsunade know that Itachi wasn't behind the massacre? It wasn't like he would have come out and told her that over tea and cookies, but she could definitely hint, "It was very strange. He went out of his way to give away when the extraction would be taking place. Like he was helping me or something. If I hadn't known how desperate the time situation really was, I probably would have been locked up and been unable to do anything until it was too late."
Tsunade and Sasuke exchanged a significant look. Aiko tried not to roll her eyes. Perhaps they did know, then.
"Tsunade-baa-chan!" Naruto shrieked, flinging the door open. "The stupid receptionist said that Aiko wasn-"
"That's because she wasn't there," Tsunade confirmed placidly, letting a hint of fondness creep into her expression while the blond stared wide-mouthed at his sister for a moment. Then he leapt at her even as his lower lip wobbled.
'I hate these kinds of hugs,' Aiko thought tiredly as her feet dangled and her brother talked at a speed she couldn't decipher, doing his level best to deprive her of oxygen. 'I'm not a doll. My feet are meant to be on the ground unless I move them.' He seemed a mite upset, though, so she soothingly patted his back.
"There, there. It's fine."
He adjusted his grip to dangle her in the air across from his face, jaw dropped incredulously. "Are you seriously trying to soothe me?" Naruto demanded, sounding strangely irritated.
Her brow crinkled. "Well, yes. You seem upset," Aiko admitted honestly. She understood why he was, of course, and felt guilty about it. If their situation had been reversed... Well, she didn't know what she would do, but it probably would have involved sneaking out after him regardless of what Tsunade said and smashing in a lot of faces whilst screeching insults like a crazy person. But all the hugging and crying just made her uncomfortable. She'd endure it for him, but left to her own devices... Probably not happening. Too many feelings were wiggling unapologetically all over the place.
Naruto stared for just a moment. Then he rolled his eyes and crushed her back to his chest. "You're an idiot, nee-chan," he informed her thickly, face buried in her hair.
She pled for help silently, appealing to Sasuke and Tsunade with her eyes. They were wearing an unpleasant mirror of each others' smirking expressions and clearly enjoying her discomfort.
"You need to stop being kidnapped," Naruto informed her seriously, setting her back down on the ground with unusual gentleness. She subconsciously straightened at the hard, mature look in his eyes. "You're reckless with your life, nee-chan."
Aiko gaped at that hypocrisy.
He continued without the slightest hint of irony. "You know you're not immortal, right? I mean, I'm glad you're a hero and all, but you can't fight Akatsuki on your own." She furrowed her brow and started to say that she knew that, she didn't intend to, but he plowed right over her objections. "I know you. You get this stupid idea that you're going to do everything on your own. Well, I'm not a kid anymore, and you don't have to protect me from Akatsuki." He all but glared her down. "Work with me. I want that. But I won't allow you to act like you're the only person who can get things done."
She whimpered a little bit, but seemed to receive no sympathy whatsoever. "Well said," Tsunade crisply cut in. "Naruto, I'll take that as a promise from you to not do anything reckless yourself, since you can see why it's a bad idea."
From his puzzled expression, Naruto didn't seem to have considered that his lecture could apply to himself as well.
Tsunade was far too amused for Aiko's comfort. "That said, I need you to grab Nii and take her to Kakashi. Hopefully, you can head off whatever Kumo has planned. Surely, if they see her there…" She cringed a little, raising a shoulder in a shrug. "It's the best we've got."
"Can do," Aiko blandly shot off, relaxing into a slouch. "Is she still in the hospital?"
"She's being escorted here after she's checked over," Tsunade reassured her. "She wasn't in bad shape, though. It should be soon." Then she heaved a sigh. "I'm so glad you're back, Aiko. I still expect Jiraiya to come swooping in here and rip me a new one for letting you get snatched," she groused with a tone that implied she thought she deserved it. "No doubt he's heard by now."
"I'm sure the pervert will be reasonable," Sasuke grunted disinterestedly.
Naruto just about choked, wide-eyed. "It's like you've never met him. He's the biggest drama queen I've ever met. Do you or do you not remember that he's composed a song and choreography for whenever he has an opportunity to introduce himself to a new person?"
The Uchiha cringed. "I was trying to forget."
"If we can't, I don't see why you should be able to," Tsunade replied with brutal honesty.
There was a knock on the door and Shizune led Yugito inside.
"Oh thank god," Aiko mumbled quietly to herself. "Are you as ready as I am to get you home?"
"Have a safe trip," Tsunade said blandly. "I would suggest that you come back the conventional way. This is important enough to risk the Hiraishin on the way there, but I don't understand it well enough that I want you abusing it right now."
Aiko bit down gently on the hard candy in her mouth in an attempt to avoid informing Tsunade that she sucked. The glare probably expressed the same thing. She dislodged the sucker just enough to mumble, "I'll see you guys in a week or so, then."
"I feel like a child being dragged around," Yugito sighed, looking distastefully at the hand Aiko offered. Still, she took it.
To save at least a little of the older woman's dignity, Aiko dropped the limb as soon as she had re-oriented them.
And blinked at the backs of three startled men who split apart in various directions at high speed. She snatched Yugito's hand right back up to drag her down into the dirt with a yelp to avoid the shuriken that came swinging through the air.
"I can't believe I missed you people!" she snarled, pulling her chin out of the dirt with a mulish expression.
She couldn't see Kakashi's face, but Yamato appeared to be broken, jaw hanging stupidly open. C seemed oddly relieved, until she remembered Yugito was one of his comrades. That was probably who he was glad to see.
Yugito yanked her hand away and shot up with a spine like a steel rod even as Aiko pushed herself up to a standing position as well.
"I guess this means you aren't dead," Yamato finally vocalized, pitch a little higher than usual. He put a fist to his chin and coughed twice, and it was normal the next time he spoke. "I'm glad to see you. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Aiko gave him a tired smile, half noting that Yugito and C were communicating in what appeared to be one of their villages hand sign languages with occasional significant glances at one of them. "Have had better weeks, though," she admitted. Yamato made a small, strained sound, and his head turned towards Kakashi. She followed the motion reflexively.
His expression was completely indecipherable, but definitely intense. Standing under that gaze made her feel a little uncomfortable. Aiko shifted her weight from one foot to another, but in the seconds that followed, Kakashi made no move to say anything or look away.
"Hi?" Aiko tried faintly. When he made no move to reply, she concentrated on looking at the bridge of his nose because there was something she couldn't quite identify in his visible eye right now.
'You think you know a guy… Still waters run deep and all that. He's nothing like Naruto, but maybe…'
"If, um…" she cleared her throat and started again with a decent impression of her usual flippancy. "If you need a hug, I know a guy." Aiko jerked her head towards Yamato, and then took her sucker out of her mouth and twirled it just to have something to do with her hands.
Kakashi seemed a little amused, and his face lightened. He closed the distance between them without saying a thing, and for one bizarre moment, she thought he really was going to hug her. Not that he couldn't hug, of course, but he was just such an intensely private person that it seemed out of place with two strangers present. Instead, the hand in his pocket came up and brushed through her hair. It withdrew almost immediately, but there was a familiar weight against her scalp when it did.
"Try not to lose this the next time you get kidnapped?" he drawled, crinkling his eye up into a cute imitation of a smile. "Tsunade gave it back to me for lack of anything else to do with it, but I'm afraid it doesn't look as good on me."
For some reason she couldn't quite identify, Aiko flushed what had to be an ugly shade of red and averted her eyes down to his sandals.
As it turned out, the Raikage didn't believe in delegation. Despite Kakashi and Yamato's reservations, Yugito had taken the group's lead to make it easily visible that the situation had changed. Aiko was grateful for that when the Raikage met them dead-on and four Jounin flanked them. She forced her body language to hide her discomfort and painted a pleasant smile onto her face. This wasn't someone she wanted to display aggressiveness around.
"What is this?" he demanded. The Raikage was an enormous bear of a man: not as tall as Kisame, no, but even wider built with obscenely bulging muscles.
And the weirdest fashion sense she'd ever seen. He was bare-chested despite the cold, but had apparently thrown on a scarf on his way out the door. What the hell? Was he planning on going to Laputa or something? In combination with the gigantic gold belt he was wearing… Well, she didn't know what to think.
"Greetings, Raikage-sama, from Lady Tsunade," Kakashi cut in silkily. "I believe these are yours?" He nodded congenially towards Yugito and a sheepish looking C.
"Is this some kind of trick?" He narrowed his eyes at the group, giving Yugito a suspicious once-over. "Are you trying to trick me with a fake? Or are you just admitting your complicity?"
"Neither, Raikage-sama," Aiko tilted her chin up to make eye contact. "I apologize for the delay, but Yugito-san and I only escaped Akatsuki's hospitality recently."
He seemed unconvinced. A plodded towards her, coming far too close for Aiko's comfort, and then bent just enough to make eye contact. "Are you trying to pull one over my eyes, girl?" he breathed. "Don't underestimate the Raikage. Is this an ambush? Konoha said they were sending two Jounin, and here I see three marked Konoha shinobi. If those two aren't really mine, then it sure looks like you just wanted a fight." He grinned unpleasantly into her face.
Aiko resisted the urge to step back. "Of course I don't want to fight you," she said practically. "You'd kick my ass. I like my bones the way they are, thank you, unbroken and in place."
There was a small, frustrated groan from either Yugito or Yamato, but she didn't turn in time to see who had made it. A slowly exhaled and raised one brow. He looked a bit pleased, though, by the calm acknowledgement of his physical superiority. "Darui. You would know C anywhere. Is this him?"
One of the Jounin stepped forward and made a detailed examination of the sulky-looking blonde, tugging his hair, asking him quiet questions, and then stepped back with a content smile. "Yes it is, Raikage-sama. And I would wager that's Yugito-san as well."
"I can confirm Konoha's account," Yugito stepped in professionally, now that all the attention was on her. "We were held in custody of a group of missing nin who expressed the intent to unseal the bijuu held in Fuu-san and myself."
"And Konoha couldn't have tricked you and sent this girl to rescue you to gain your allegiance?" A asked skeptically, pointing rudely at Aiko with one of his sausage-sized fingers. She scowled at it.
Yugito was calmer. "No, Raikage-sama. That doesn't fit. I suspect that her stay in Akatsuki custody was rather more unpleasant than mine. If Konoha had meant to gain our trust, they would have had us bond in captivity and not risked losing their operative."
Aiko cringed, and determinedly did not meet eye contact with anyone. That hadn't been her best moment.
"I see, I see." Aiko just about jumped out of her skin—the Raikage was about two inches from her nose, peering at her contemplatively. He didn't look that impressed. "Is this really the Fourth Hokage's child?"
Kakashi jerked unpleasantly. That, Aiko found interesting. He clearly didn't like or expect that to be public knowledge. That implied…
'Did dad have history with the Raikage?'
Despite her trepidation, there was nothing for Aiko to do but to acknowledge it. Tsunade had already let that particular cat out of the bag. "I am." She tilted her head up slightly, unconsciously challenging him.
His eyes narrowed, tracing the contours of her face—her cheekbones, jawline, nose, and settled on her eyes. "You do look something like him," A acknowledged, straightening up to peer at her from a distance. "Especially the eyes, and that dopey look on your face."
'Dopey? Seriously?'
Offended, she scowled at him.
He laughed.
That wasn't the reaction she was going for at all.
"Konoha did pull one over on us," A declaimed, looking at her with a serious expression but amusement in his eyes. "Or two, the way I hear it."
She said nothing in response to that, but her 'adorable little girl' act had been thoroughly abandoned in exchange for what she might have termed 'an expression of anger' but Yamato clearly thought was a pout, judging by his poorly hidden amusement.
"Bah," A dismissed. "Did you bring the kid for any reason other than to show me how bloodlines weaken in Konoha over just a generation?"
'I'm going to smash his face open like a grape.'
"Yes, she was meant to remove the seal placed on C." Kakashi shoved his hands in his pockets as if he was bored. Sullenly, Aiko nodded in agreement.
"Well, then do it." A gave her a skeptical look.
She turned her face away with a huff and jutted her chin out, turning away. Aiko didn't trust herself to say anything without resorting to informing the Raikage that he was a big old dummy, so she gritted her jaw shut and turned away. C looked a bit uneasy to see her stomping towards him, but gave a sideways glance at an amused looking Yugito that implied he would consider edging away if he didn't risk getting mocked for it.
'Not in the mood for your shit, or anyone else's for that matter.'
The expression on her face must have been truly hideous, because C looked about ready to roll over and show his belly. In the back of her mind, she noted that she really might have unnerved him when they'd fought and it wasn't entirely fair to take her anger out on him.
Aiko did not care. She walked right up to him and jerked C's shirt right up, slamming her palm into his gut.
Kakashi made a strange choking sound behind her.
She wasn't paying attention. With more vindictiveness than usual, she gathered up the seal and yanked it off his stomach. Irritably, she shook her fingers and forcibly dissolved it, and yanked the shirt back down forcibly. "Don't be such a baby," Aiko huffed, giving him an unpleasant look.
Then she tossed her hair over her shoulder and stalked away, back to where Kakashi and Yamato were still standing. Aiko did her level best to communicate, 'Can we go home now?' through her expression, but they didn't seem to be registering it.
"Hmm." A shot her one last look, before turning to stare down Kakashi. He appeared to be asserting his dominance, but Kakashi deflected the potential dick-waving competition by appearing not to notice.
'I take back what I said earlier. The Raikage sucks. I bet Kakashi could kick his ass.' Aiko narrowed her eyes at him. 'And he could do it with his shirt on.'
"This is a little off-putting, you know," A pointed out to the group at large. "I was planning on killing you for your treachery after C was released into my custody, and I do hate changing plans."
There was a sudden, noticeable heightening in tension.
"But I can see that I was mistaken. It isn't Konoha I need to destroy."
'First half intelligent thing he's said since I met him,' Aiko thought mulishly.
"I promised to treat with Konoha," A sighed, scratching at his chin. "But that Senju woman—I've always thought she was so weak. Did she ever get over her fear of blood? Ha!" He shook his head. "You're Konoha, kid. You look like a damn idiot, but I respected your father. Do you have anything intelligent to say? Make your case."
Well, that was awkward and not entirely conventional. Was he going to be offended if she refused to talk to him? She could deal with Tsunade later.
"I don't like you," Aiko said bluntly.
She could almost hear Kakashi's hopes for this encounter to go well flushing down the drain.
"But I think that we should work together. You have as much reason to hate Akatsuki as I do- maybe more. I can't blame you for turning against Konoha when you thought we were responsible. If I thought Kumo had killed my otouto, I would burn it to the fucking ground and then turn it into a swamp."
"I can't believe Tsunade made you a diplomat," Kakashi muttered sullenly behind her. She ignored that. Now wasn't the time for his negativity.
Aiko fixed A with a dead serious expression. His gaze was evaluative. Contrary to what her companions seemed to think, her strategy had been tailored for him and seemed to be working acceptably. He didn't look like he was about to dismiss her: A seemed blunt and like he valued it when people didn't tell polite lies. He respected strength and was proud of his own. She didn't want to seem weak in any way around him. Encouraging him to think that her position was similar to his by stressing that they both had jinchuuriki for little brothers couldn't hurt, either.
"That's what you should want to do to Akatsuki. Put them all twenty feet under in B's name. I'll do anything in my power to ensure you get the eight-tailed bijuu back if you help me rip every one of those irritating idiots from limb to limb. I'm sure you don't want morons trying to rule the world any more than I do."
He paused, and tilted his head slightly to the side before he asked, "Morons?"
Aiko nodded gravely. "They're really dumb."
A's lips twitched. "Well, we can't have that," he allowed gravely. His hands shot to his hips in a heroic pose and he squared his shoulders. "Alright! You've convinced me, shrimp." (He seemed to ignore the sudden spike in killing intent from Aiko. Possibly because Yamato had laid a desperate hand on her dangerously still shoulder to prevent her from leaping at the Raikage to throttle him.) "The Raikage agrees to ally with Konoha and their flimsy allies to hunt the organization known as Akatsuki!"
"I'm so grateful I could cry," Aiko gritted out through her teeth.
Seriously, shrimp? Shrimp?! She wasn't small, he was oversized and his face was stupid. And besides, shrimp were so gross.
"I think he likes you," Kakashi said blandly as they traveled through Bear Country towards home. A lesser man might have quailed under the look Aiko shot him, but the bastard probably found it funny.
"I don't like him," she huffed, sticking out her lower lip. "He's rude."
Yamato snorted. "Coming from you?" he started dryly. "That sounds a bit hypocritical. You really have that redhead temper sometimes."
"I'm constantly impressed by your dignified handle on diplomacy," Kakashi added, insufferably amused.
"And the way you never tell foreign heads of state that you dislike them." Yamato smiled.
'Are they seriously teasing me? I got the job done, didn't i?'
Aiko glowered. "You guys suck. You just suck."
They continued to suck when they set up camp for the night.
"I'll run the perimeter."
"No, I think I've got it." Yamato bounded off before she could move. Aiko was left blinking as he cleared the area.
"O-kay," she drawled uncertainly. That was weird. "Alright." Kakashi gave her a strangely pleased look, but offered no comment. Something similar happened after they'd eaten the rations for the night.
"I'll take first watch. Tenzou, you're second."
Aiko raised an eyebrow, wondering why he hadn't bothered to complete the obvious corollary that she would be on the third shift, but obligingly settled down to rest.
"Aiko, what are you doing?"
She dug her face out of her arms to give him a quizzical look. "Going to sleep?" Aiko tried delicately.
Kakashi shook his head disapprovingly. "You didn't bring your gear?"
Aiko gave him a deadpan expression. "No, I think I left it with Itachi. Do you think I should go back and ask for my stuff back? He seems like such a nice guy. And his friend Tobi was great too. We played Go Fish and talked about boys."
They hadn't really talked about boys, but the addition had just felt right.
Kakashi didn't seem terribly pleased by the reminder. His lips seemed to thin under the mask he was wearing. "Is that why you're wearing men's clothes? Where did those come from?"
"Er-" Involuntarily, Aiko glanced down. It was pretty obvious that they weren't hers. "Yeah, mine pretty much got ruined. These belonged to that one blond Akatsuki."
If it was possible, he seemed even less thrilled. "I see." Without a word, he stalked over to his bag and unzipped it
"Um…"
"Here."
Aiko automatically caught the fabric that came winging her way.
"It's been worn, but it's better than wearing something you got from the Akatsuki," Kakashi muttered darkly. "For all you know, it's been trapped or they can track you with it."
That seemed excessively paranoid, but whatever. She blinked at him expectantly, but he didn't seem to get the hint. Eventually, she raised an eyebrow. "Well, are you going to turn around so I can change?"
The mildly surprised look he gave her implied that he had forgotten there was a necessary transitional stage between 'wearing Deidara's clothes' and 'wearing other clothes'. He did turn around, back stiff. As soon as she was done, he scanned the area again as if he thought the forces of evil had been gathering in the last thirty seconds.
She noted somewhat grudgingly that his clothes fit her even worse than Deidara's. Kakashi might have caught the slightly longing look she gave the items she'd just removed, because his eye narrowed and he took them out of her hands- and threw them directly on the fire.
'Okay,' Aiko thought slowly. 'Let's slowly back away from the crazy person.'
"You can have my kit for the night," he called dismissively over his shoulder. It didn't seem like a good time to question him, so she just crawled into his bedroll and tried not to contemplate how bizarre everyone else had suddenly become.
They never did wake her up to take a shift on watch.

“You’re pregnant?” from Jun please~
Send “You’re pregnant?” for my muse to announce their pregnancy to yours.
It was bound to happen. There were condoms on hand, but protection was not one hundred percent guaranteed. Access to other forms of birth control was difficult for Harmony to obtain. She wasn't very wealthy, nevermind that availability was limited. They tried to be careful and as much as Harmony wanted a family, she and Junsui never talked about it. They weren't in a rush either.
But fate had other plans for them.
The signs have been there since they began just a few weeks ago. Intense changes in emotions coupled with random cravings that may have unnerved Junsui when they were together. It became too much on the previous night. It was a peaceful slumber disrupted by her frantically running off for the bathroom with bouts of nausea.
That was that! It was the last straw. Harmony knew something was wrong, and she needed to find out and fast!
One quick trip to the nearest convenience shop later, Harmony came home with the test. Harmony's bated breath left her lungs, but it was not of relief. When she saw that line fade in the strip after the control's line's appearance, reality shattered. Everything familiar and comfortable became frightening. She fought the swirling emotions as fears and thoughts clashed in her mind.
Junsui had to know. He needs to know. But...what would he do? How would the lawyer feel? Would Junsui be scared? Angry? Would he leave her behind?
These worries made her blood turn ice cold. Her apartment seems much smaller as she left the bathroom. Wall seems to be slowly closing in. It's so hard to breathe.
Why is it so hard to breathe?!
How could she mess up so bad? Junsui doesn't deserve to be forced to deal with the responsibility. She was so careless. So foolish.
Stupid, her mind repeated.
Stupid, stupid...
Harmony's hands shook when she scheduled an appointment to confirm the result. Then, she did what she dreaded: Harmony's hands felt heavy as lead when she sent that text message to him. She apologized to Junsui because he's working, but when he's done, she needs him to come to her place. It's urgent.
She couldn't tell him by text. To her, it wouldn't be right. Even if this will destroy what she and Junsui had, she needs to tell him face to face.
Hours dragged during that terrible wait. She sat on the sofa with her head hung low. She waits.
She waits as the remnants of the world fade and float away.
Harmony fretted as she lost track of time. How can someone be so lost in despair that the sun has moved much closer to the west? When he came, Harmony couldn't force a smile. The fear keeps her in place, her eyes staring at her feet.
Harmony tilts her head back to see him. She stuttered as she greeted him, fighting to find the right words as she silently pleaded.
Please don't leave.
Please don't leave.
Please, please, please don't leave! Dear God! Don't go!
It was harder to speak and didn't get to the point just yet. It started with Harmony saying she loved him but was scared because of the news. But he beat her to it by asking.
As soon as those two words left Junsui's mouth, Harmony felt moisture brim her eyes just before the dam broke. She burst into tears as waves of raw emotions hit her without warning. Fingers curl into her hair as hands reach for the sides of her head. Her body leans forward as tears stream down her flushed face. Eyes shut tight, not wanting to see fear or anger on his face.
She wants to scream.
She wants to run away from this. God, she wants to throw up! It hurts so, so bad!
Moments pass before she uses all her might to force herself to talk.
"I-I-I don't kno-wha-w-what you wanna do, b-b-but-" She says between sobs and hiccups. "I-I wa-want to..." She sniffs with her red, tearful eyes which return to seeing him. "I want t-t-to keep it." Coughs break up her words before she can catch her breath. "I-I don't want you-to go. I don't wa-wanna lose y-you...But...b...but...I don't-" Harmony hiccups between the terrible sobs. Another deep breath, and she speaks once more.
"I-I don't..."
Heavens above, her heart is breaking. It hurts! It hurts so bad!
"I don't wa-want to force y-you...to stay. I can...s-set you free if it's what...you want."

The scariest thing about the corners of this lightless closet is that there are no monsters in them.
When I was younger, I was terrified of the dark. I overheated under the blankets but I was terrified to stick even a foot out. I'd have to bargain, or rage, you can eat me tomorrow night or if you don't eat me in the next ten minutes after I uncover my head then you're not real. Whether it was the formless things bounded only by imagination, or the chitinous creatures and witches and demons impassioned by horror movies when I was older, I hated sleeping alone.
It took getting a ferret and giving her the run of the room to ease my fears over the noises in the darkness; hard to be afraid of something moving under the covers when it's a lovely and non-threatening creature curling around my toes, not a vicious one trying to crunch them to bone shards. (Well, only when she was feeling playful and even then she never bit hard. She's gone now. Old age.)
I've even stood in front of a windowless bathroom mirror with a candle, door closed and lights off, and chanted Bloody Mary three times and nothing happened. As an adult I'd thoroughly banished the nightmares; monsters (except the human kind) aren't real.
But now, lying on the floor of the closet with the light off because the space beside me on the bed would be empty after so many years and will be from now on because she has banished *me* until she 'figures herself out better', I want them back. I could throw myself down the stairs (looks like an accident to life insurance but is not guaranteed to actually kill me). I could try to drown myself in the bathtub (insurance is going to be dubious and it's difficult). I could try lethal doses of medication (not currently prescribed anything that could do it and trying to get something off the black market is risky). I could take an edge to my arms and slice as deep as possible (very much not an accident and very hard to actually succeed at besides, along with living with severed tendons when I don't). Besides, then they'd have to find the body and I don't want to do that to the people I care about, even if they don't feel the same way about me anymore.
Or I could drive to the beach in the middle of the night and swim towards the horizon until I can't see the town lights, then duck under the waves and take a deep breath. It's supposed to be peaceful in the end, after the initial panic, and they wouldn't even notice I was gone until morning.
But I promised. I *promised* her that I wouldn't do anything stupid. So every night now I lie in the darkness and wrestle with that promise, that monster. I fight my own heart that tells me that the ocean is only an hour away, that a midnight drive could drown my sorrows quite literally forever. And I beg those childhood monsters to come back. Decapitate me. Gut me so fast and so thoroughly that the shock finishes me off in minutes at most. Tear out my heart and eat it (though you'd have to find all the pieces and it'll likely be bitter). Drain me dry of blood the way my life is already drained of love the way I want (need) it. Snuff out my soul, if that exists, because if it does that means that there are whole new rules to break by accident and the pain may never end. Something like that, it won't be my fault. Then I won't have broken my promise.
But the corners are empty and the lightless space is still except for my sobbing.

sakusa
word count : 1.4k
you knew better than to do this, humping your dearly beloved boyfriends pillow with just your cotton panties, a loose shirt with no bra under, like a bitch in heat, desperate for friction of any kind. You knew if he had caught you like this he would punish you that was guaranteed. however, in the literal heat of the moment you didn’t care. sakusa’s constant pattern of coming home the minute you were already fast asleep in your shared bed, never being able to fill the void of need in your little cunt.
〜 ☆
Considering he’d let this slide since its been a month since you’ve two have done anything sexual, these thoughts only making you hump his pillow even more desperate leaving a pool of your arousal staining his pillow, with the occasional soft whimpers of his name. losing yourself in your own lust, You didn’t hear the sound of the door clicking open.
Sakusa, leaving his practice early since his performance was unfavorable by the shitty mood he was in, lashing out on his teammates for the smallest things they’d do and so many more. in short, his team suggested he’d stay home t’ill he cooled down.
“y/n? i’m home.”he walked around the empty apartment accompanied by the muffles of your soft moans, trying to find you as quickly as possible, obviously knowing it was you. he opened the bedroom door slowly and quietly. his eyes grew wide at the scene in front of him.
still not noticing his presence in the door frame you continued humping his pillow feeling your high approach, but leave you since you needed him.
“tch.” clicking his tongue at you in disapproval. you flinched letting go of his pillow to face him, feeling your heart race when you made eye contact with him, arms folded and a look of disgust planted on his pale face. Your eyes already filling up with tears knowing what comes next. “m’ y-yoomi! w-welcome home-”
“who the fuck gave you permission to touch yourself?” cutting you off, walking towards the bed, he pinned you down to the bed, arms on your sides, hovering over you with his dead, cold, heartless gaze cutting through you, as you tried to look away in shame only earning you a slap to the face to make you look at him. the sting causing you to choke out a sob. praying internally that he’d let you off the hook just this once. you were just needy for him.he has to understand that, right?
“answer me, right.now.”
“n-no one yoomi... i’m s-sorry please don’t wanna be punished!” you pleaded to him only making him more angrier. he grabbed your jaw making you whimper at the tight grip. scanning you top to bottom, eyeing at the wet patch on your underwear.
“then why did you huh? couldn’t wait until i got home couldn’t you? needy fucking thing.” he tutted, letting go of your jaw harshly, tugging your panties down to your knees already feeling impatient himself by how his cock hardened through his shorts. despite wanting to punish you, he wanted you. needed you to be precise.
the man hasn’t felt you in a whole month how could he not miss his girlfriends tight slutty cunt? removing his volleyball shorts letting his cock spring free, he strokes himself a few times before lining himself against your cunt, letting a small sigh when you felt his hard tip touch your soaked entrance.
feeling slightly relief you were finally gonna feel him after so long. That feeling of relief however didn’t last long when he slammed his fat cock inside you without warning. you let out a yelp, hands immediately going to his chest hoping for him to not bruise your cervix from how deep he was already. he growled when he felt your palms try and stop him, so he slapped your hands away roughly marking them red.
“b-but yoomi please it hurts..it h-hurts”
you figured he didn’t hear you. but he was too focused on punishing you to care if it hurt or not. so you pleaded again for him to slow down. finally getting a response from him.
“shut up you disgusting whore.you brought this on yourself, touching yourself while your boyfriends away.”
“...dirtying up his fucking pillow while he’s gone. how fucking pathetic.”  he spits, slapping your clit harshly in attempt to get you to shut up. his degrading not having a hint of reassurance anywhere like it usually does when he fucks you. normally, he’d call you his “slut” or his whore but never ever calling you a disgusting one at most, what did this mean?..you asked yourself, mind going hazy with fear. feeling like your boyfriend finds you disgusting for your actions, and not a single trace of love or concern for you, not even noticing how you tried inching yourself away from his pace.
sakusa was a mean dom yes, but he cared about you and your boundaries and right now it seemed like he didn’t care about any of those.
too focused on his own pleasure, not realizing you slowly started to breakdown in front of him, hands to your eyes shaken from how hard he hit them, as more tears fell to stain your cheeks.
“n-no not disgusting..i-i’m...so sorry..sakusa..just missed you.” you muttered no longer feeling the long needed pleasure of his cock, only feeling a painful discomfort in your chest as if your heart was gonna burst out of it at any minute. he was caught off-guard by you calling him by his last name, but that didn’t stop the brutal pace on your sloppy cunt. repositioning his hand to your hips digging his nails in your sides, bound to leave marks to be seen in the morning.
“addressing me by my last name? what you think thats gonna make things better?”he muses, his pace speeding up making you whimper. you’ve just about had enough.
“germs! g-germs! no more, i don’t like this!! y-you’re hurting m-me sakusa... please s-stop..stop.” screaming your safeword, trying to get him off you, you pushed with the little strength in you with your fragile hands. it wasn’t enough but he got the message. blinking a few times to make sure he processed the current situation.
he sighed pulling his cock out watching you with wolf eyes as you softly cried to yourself, turning to your side. he didn’t say anything he just laid down beside you. sneaking an arm around your waist, face buried in your neck. he planted some soft kisses onto it trying to make you relax. if he was being brutally honest, he didn’t know what to do.
you never used your safeword and even if it didn’t show in his face, he was pretty frightened. watching you tense up and shake around him all because of him.
“ y-yoomi..im sorry-”
“don’t be.”
he rubs your hands with his thumb in slow but comforting circles, seeing its still red from being slapped away by him, along with him kissing your cheek to simmer down the sting from earlier. god he felt so bad, but was so scared at the same time, all he wanted to do was hold you close..
..and thats what he did, watching you curl up to his chest. The room was silent for a few minutes that felt like hours gone by. you looked up at him with the look you always gave him. Full of love and adoration even with puffy eyes and hurt in your chest you still loved him.
He looked down noticing the soft smile you gave him as if nothing happened. Titling his head in confusion he asks
“why are you smiling? aren’t you upset..at me?”
you shook your head at him, “no yoomi I’m not mad. My body kinda hurts yes, but I’m glad to have you home...i missed you so much I’m sorry i touched myself without permission...”
he lightly smiles at you kissing your lips softly.
“it’s okay. tomorrow we’ll have the day all to ourselves and we can do whatever you want my love. I’m sorry i was so mean... i was having a bad day and I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”
you paused leaning in closer to his chest as you mumbled.
“can we...take a bath together yoomi?”
“oh sure...here i’l carry you.”
needless to say, you forgave him and gave him one last kiss before going to bed.
kenma
word count : 886
kenmas work schedule was god awful since he was practically up to play games and just that leaving you feeling needy and neglected. you hated it.
but tonight you were just, so needy and couldn’t stand this constant neglect.
No matter how many times you touched yourself of grind against something it couldn’t compare to the way kenma would stuff you with his cock.
he wasn’t a super harsh dom leaning towards a mix of soft and mean, but he still prioritized your needs before his. and tonight you were gonna get that version of kenma.
walking towards the couch he was playing his games at slowly, with nothing but his hoodie and knee highs. you bit your lip standing in front of him, fiddling your thumbs out of nervousness. He titled his head to remove you from his line of sight to see the tv screen better making your heart ache just a little, being so used to it already.
taking a deep breath you sat in between on of his thighs wrapping your arms around his neck making him let out a groan of annoyance to your needy antics.
he continued to play his game acting as if you weren’t there and nothing changed. it all came to a halt when he felt you grinding on his thigh, letting out small cries of his name.
“baby.... please” you mumbled facing his disinterested face not even sharing a glance at you as he continued to move his thumbs around his controllers joystick. He didn’t even pay mind to the fact you were borderline naked either.
“five minutes pretty girl.” he muttered still too absorbed in his game. You pouted shifting your legs to be wrapped around him now, wet cunt on top of his crotch rubbing against him lightly. Making him flinch at the sudden friction. giving you hope he’d give you what you want now. you smirked continuing to grind against him making him bite back a grunt.
“ugh what are you doing?” he said clearly annoyed by your antics already.
your face became red while placing your hands on his shoulders slowly starting to grind against his growing bulge. “want your attention kenma please need you so bad.” you begged hoping he’d give you something anything really.
but being kenma, he went back to his video games. your pout returning once more. “but kenma, please i really really need you.” you continued with your antics and he paused his game, putting his controller on the coffee table.
“fine you want me so fucking bad?” he grabs you by the hips making you yelp as he throws you down the couch. back hitting the cushions while he takes your legs and wraps them around his waist.
he pulls down his sweats pumping himself a few times as he rolls his head back, holding back his grunts. he slowly slides his cock into you, being easy to do considering how wet you were already for him.
he groans as he bottoms out inside you starting steady, but slowly picking up the pace to be more..brutal.
“k-kenma..m’ feels good thank you thank you” you rambled out praises making him grab you by the throat to thrust into you faster.
“god you’re so fucking annoying bothering me because you wanted to get your cunt stuffed like a little slut while i fucking work.” he scoffs making your eyes shoot open at him.
“such a fucking annoying little slut.” he continues his degradation thr grip on your throat not loosening. you felt you eyes grow teary as he continued to call you more vulgar names with the sprinkle of him calling you annoying.
“ c-console...” you mumbled wrapping your hands on his wrists, making him let go of your throat. he froze getting closer to your face as he pulls out slowly.
“huh? Whats wrong does it hurt?” he asks rubbing away your tears with the pad of his thumb.
your lip quivered as more tears started to form. “...i-im annoying...?” you looked him in his eyes as more broken sobs leave you.
“I just wanted some attention kenma...you’re always so busy sometimes I don’t even think you remember i exist..” you muttered feeling small under his cat like stare.
he sighed kissing your cheek, falling to your. side feeling his breath hit your neck. “sorry baby i swear i didn’t mean it...you’re not annoying its my fault for not giving you attention.” he admits as you wrap around him.
“y-you promise you didn’t mean it?” you ask once more. he sneaks a hand under your head to lift you up to his chest, patting your head softly.
“ i promise. here why don’t you sit on my lap, we can do that thing you wanted to try last week...” he looks away embarrassed, you tilt your head in confusion but then realize what he was referring to. you nodded joyfully wrapping your arms around his neck, he adjusts himself for you to line up to take him. he  slowly puts you back down on his cock. hissing at the returning feeling.
He smiled kissing your forehead lightly as he hugged you tight.
“better my love?”
“mhm mhm!” you said placing your head on his shoulder as you relax into him. slowly drifting away into sleep. its not much, but at-least it stuffs your very needy cunt.

what lead to this? you two were just on a simple date together at a nearby mall shopping together, looking at upcoming movies, stopping by a few manga stores and bakeries to treat yourselves. overall, just enjoying the time shared together.
that is t’ill the two of ran into your ex. issei watching the two of you talk to each other not realizing how uncomfortable you really were, hiding it with a friendly facade of course going unnoticed by him since he was practically death glaring your ex.
he was basically third wheeling in your conversation with your ex. you would side eye issei hoping he’d pull you out of your situation but it was too late since his mind was cloudy with jealousy and rage.
now, leading up to your current predicament. a heavy make-out now leading to a degradation fest.
“aw whats wrong little slut can’t take me, fucking pathetic much?” he teases pounding you at a faster pace. “can’t believe my own fucking girlfriend was just there being all friendly to her ex..what don’t tell me you still want him?” he muses making you rapidly shake your head.
“ no i don’t i swear issei..just wan’ you..”you muttered eyes growing puffy from how cruel he spoke to you as he continued to suggest away of how would get him back since it seemed like you missed him from how friendly you were acting.
growing quiet at his words trying to tune out his words. it’ll all be over soon anyways, you just had to hold on a bit you told yourself. of course you were an idiot for letting him keep going.
“ maybe i should go ask how kimi’s doing act all friendly and nice towards her.” you tuned into what issei had said in horror at what he just said.
kimi, his much prettier ex who t’ill this day wasn’t over him and he knew this. throwing it in your face as he darkly chuckled at you. you removed your arms that were wrapped around his neck pulling him close. and cupped your face in your hands at the thought of your boyfriend going back to his ex. leaving you alone again.
he wouldn’t right? even though she was much prettier in every feature she had compared to you. he wouldn’t right..? right?
“f-funeral...“you sniffled making him stop all his movements and lock eyes with you. your safeword ringing in his ears.
“hey..hey no i didn’t mean it...” he quickly pulls you towards him, pulling you out of him and hugging you tight. he rocks you softly back and forth in his embrace letting all your bottle up feelings burst onto him.  he quick to comfort you and pepper a few kisses on your face.
“ issei..” you mumbled against his chest. he rubs your back looking down at you.
“yes baby..?” his voice shaken with worry hoping you weren’t too mad at him.
“ i-i don’t miss him.. i was only being nice..i was uncomfortable talking to him why didn't you..” he internally punches himself for being so blind and not being able to see by all your movements how uncomfortable you were just breathing the same air as your ex.
he was too blinded by his jealousy to realize his poor baby was scared. he mumbled a curse before apologizing.
“i’m sorry baby i didn’t realize he was making you uncomfortable i should've done something..” his eyes wander away from you.
“ i was just jealous..” he admits
“but issei.. you’re all i want.” you say kissing his cheek and he smiles gracefully.
“am i-i all you want sei?”
“ duh pretty baby. everything  i want and need.”

———
One week.
That’s how long it had been since their argument. Spencer had driven back to his apartment in silence, absolutely stunned by the way things had blown up.
They’d gotten back from the case in Utah on the fifth of January, and he’d driven straight to Y/N’s, ready to give her a belated New Year’s kiss. Immediately upon entering her apartment, he knew something was wrong. Her hug was stiff, her kiss brief, her eye contact minimal. He’d spent the night, but they barely touched, and she left early for work without waking him. He’d let himself out and texted her later in the day to invite her over for dinner.
Dinner hadn’t been any less awkward, and when he felt awkward, he knew it was bad. He finally couldn’t ignore it any longer, and he’d called it out. He had expected some resistance, but he hadn’t expected that. Y/N never spoke to him with any malice at all, even when he was actually doing something that irritated her. She was the queen of healthy communication. So for her to speak to him like that meant that the underlying issue was much, much worse than he’d originally thought.
He’d gone over their conversations a thousand times, looking desperately for the moment that it went wrong. After some deep consideration, he was certain that something had happened on New Year’s Eve. He just wasn’t sure what. Y/N was insistent that she wasn’t bothered by the declined call, but he still wished he could go back in time and answer it. He was pretty sure the seeds of their argument had sprouted in that moment, regardless of what she said.
Spencer knew she was a creature of habit, and that sometimes she needed space to process and experience her emotions. And if he was being honest, he needed some space after the argument, too. But usually she would have at least texted him by now.
He sighed and set down his newspaper, realizing he’d read the same page four times and hadn’t retained any of it. It was Friday, and he knew she was working. But still his fingers itched to dial her number. He picked up the phone, pressing a key to light up the screen yet again.
No new messages.
He dropped the phone back to the table with a little more force than was necessary. He decided he’d give her the rest of the weekend. If he didn’t hear from her by Sunday, he’d have to do something.
Y/N dropped her bag on the floor inside the door and turned to lock the deadbolt. She had managed to sneak out of the building without being stopped by Anita, and she thanked the universe for small miracles.
She didn’t want to have to explain herself. She didn’t want anyone to know what an absolute troll she’d been. Considering that Sam and Spencer had practically become attached at the hip since they’d started hanging out more, Anita was bound to ask about him.
She showered and ordered Thai food, snuggling down on the couch to watch a movie with Roald. She settled on Dumplin’— a favorite for the body positivity, the southern drawls, and the Dolly Parton drag.
And then she came to the argument outside of Harpy’s and lost what little emotional stability she had left.
“Never took you for the type that cares much what people think.”
“I can’t, Bo. And that might make me a coward, but—”
“It does. Willowdean Dixon, I think you’re beautiful. To hell with anyone who’s ever made you feel less than that.”
She didn’t realize she was crying until Roald meowed in distress. She choked out a sob and stroked over his ears, closing her eyes in defeat. “I really fucked this up, huh?”
It had only been one week, but it felt like years since Spencer walked out of her apartment. She’d stayed in bed for the entire weekend, crying on and off. She knew she had no one to blame but herself. Owen had knocked over the first domino, but she’d done nothing to stop the rest from falling.
Spencer had done everything right. He’d done everything she asked, and she’d thrown it all back in his face. He had made the comparison to Mitchell Park, and he was absolutely right. She’d done the exact same thing, only she had almost a year’s worth of ammunition, and she cut a hell of a lot deeper.
Roald nuzzled against her, but she nudged him away— she didn’t even deserve the comfort. Instead, she fumbled in the couch cushions for her phone, swiping open the screen and tapping her favorites list, thumb hovering over Spencer’s name. Then she tapped on the name right above it and blew out a breath.
The line connected and rang three times before she picked up. “Hey, sugar! Your ears must be ringin’, ‘cause I was just thinkin’ about callin’ you.”
“Hey, mama,” Y/N breathed.
Her mother’s tone changed from chipper to concerned in an instant. “What’s wrong, baby?”
She leaned forward to the coffee table to grab Spencer’s scarf— somehow left behind in her apartment— rubbing it between her fingers. “I— I really messed up.”
“Oh, Lord. You need bail money?”
Despite herself, Y/N laughed wetly. “Oh my god , mama. No, I don’t need bail money.”
“Well, if you made bail it can’t be that bad,” Rose insisted.
“I didn’t— I’m not in jail, for Christ’s sake.” Y/N ran a hand over her face. “I messed things up with Spencer.”
“Well, we can fix that,” Rose responded matter of factly. “What happened?”
“We were fighting, and I said some really, really awful things,” Y/N admitted, tears spilling over her lash line.
Rose scoffed. “Honey, I say awful things to your father all the time, and we’ve been married almost 40 years.”
Y/N heaved a long sigh. “Not like this, mama.”
Her mother hummed in consideration. “Well, what were y’all fightin’ about?”
“It’s complicated,” Y/N hedged, toying with the fringe of the scarf.
Rose clicked her tongue. “Do ya want my help or not?”
Y/N dropped her head back against the couch. “I ran into Owen on New Year’s Eve—”
“Well, I hope you told him to stick it where the sun don’t shine,” Rose practically growled.
Y/N closed her eyes as the tears tracked hot down her cheeks. “I didn’t. I— I let him get under my skin, and then I didn’t want to tell Spencer about it because it’s embarrassing, but he knew something was wrong, and he wouldn’t stop asking about it.” She had to pause and suck in a hiccuping breath, releasing it on a sob. “So I yelled at him and said all kinds of terrible things, and then he left, and now I think maybe we broke up, and I’ve literally never been so sad in my whole life.”
There was a long pause on the other end of the phone, and then she heard Rose sniffling. “Really shoulda had your brothers knock the mess out of that son of bitch when we had the chance. He's been gone five years, and he’s still hurtin’ you every chance he gets.”
Y/N swiped uselessly at the tear tracks on her cheeks, sniffling pathetically. “And now I hurt the person who’s spent the last year singlehandedly undoing all of his awful handiwork.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Rose cooed. Y/N could hear the creak of the floorboards as her mother walked through her childhood home. “You said he knew somethin’ was wrong, right? I can almost guarantee that he’s still just wonderin’ what’s goin’ on. I know he’s supposed to be a genius, but he’s still a man. And men are dumb, sugar. You gotta spell it out for ‘em. Have you talked to him since?”
“No.” Fresh tears spilled over Y/N’s lashes as the thoughts that had kept her from calling him spilled out of her mouth. “What if it was too far? What if I ruined everything? What if he never wants to speak to me again?”
Ross heaved out a long breath. “That’s a lot of what ifs, Y/N.”
“What if I’m right?” she whispered.
“And what if you’re not?” Rose countered. “That boy loves you. Anyone could see that, clear as day. He’d do just about anything for you.” Rose paused, and Y/N heard the springs of the bed squeak as she sat. “But you gotta let him, sweetheart. Right now you’re takin’ away his chance to do that. You’re makin’ the decision for him.”
Y/N listened as her mother’s advice crackled over the line, and for the first time in a week, she felt a tiny sliver of hope.
“If he doesn’t want to be with you anymore, you need to let him tell you that. Don’t settle for a what if. Find out for sure, or you're gonna spend the rest of your life worryin’ and wonderin’, sugar.”
That evening found Spencer in his usual spot on the couch, reclined against the arm with a book in hand. He’d promised himself he’d give Y/N the weekend to herself— that he’d let her come to him. That didn’t stop him from checking his phone obsessively; it never buzzed with any new calls or messages, but he still looked every seven minutes.
The sound of the buzzer jolted his body to attention. He checked his watch and drew his brows together before closing his book and scrambling to cross to the intercom, a tiny seed of hope beginning to germinate. He pressed the button to talk, calling, “Yes?” into the speaker box and then listening for the response.
“Hi.”
Her voice was so quiet that he could barely hear it over the crackle of the speaker. He buzzed her in without hesitation, crossing to the door and opening it immediately. She made her way slowly up the stairs, turning at the top of the landing and pausing.
His heart broke at the sight of her. She looked utterly exhausted, dressed in black sweatpants and a soft purple sweater, a black puffer jacket over top. She was holding his scarf, wringing it in between her hands. Her eyes were ringed red, and the bags under them were worse than his.
He watched as she crossed the landing, coming to stand quietly in front of him. He’d known something was wrong, but the way she looked now made him wonder just how long she’d been battling whatever private demons she wouldn’t let him in on.
“I, um.” She cleared her throat, and it was clear she’d been crying from the thickness of her voice. “I have a lot to say— again. But since I was such an asshole, I wanted to give you the opportunity to say anything you need to say first.”
He’d imagined this conversation countless times over the last week, and never once had he thought it would start like this. “Um. Well. You— you really hurt me.”
She could barely look at him. “I know.”
He swallowed. “Please don’t do that again.”
She shook her head, finally meeting his eyes. “I won’t. I won’t ever again.”
Spencer tucked his hands into the pockets of his lounge pants. “I know I may not be the best at social cues, but I’m a pretty good profiler. And I can tell when something’s wrong.” He raised his eyebrows. “You don’t have to tell me everything. I’m just asking you to tell me when I do something that makes you upset.”
“You— you didn’t do anything wrong. I—” He watched her squeeze her eyes shut. “God, I’m so sorry, Spencer. I’m just— I’m sorry for so many things. For lying about being fine, for being up on my high horse about communicating and then not actually doing it, for being an absolute bitch.”
He wanted to argue— she wasn’t a bitch— but he could tell she was far from done.
“I— I thought therapy was supposed to teach me how to talk about things, but this still feels… impossible to say out loud,” she admitted, fingers fumbling with the fabric of the scarf. “It’s embarrassing and ridiculous. But I— I have deep-seated insecurities. That I’m not really that smart or interesting or particularly special.”
He thought back to that night in Mitchell Park and felt the guilt all over again. He’d practically said those exact words to her— it was no wonder she was feeling this way.
“And every person that I’ve ever been with has— really reinforced those ideas, so for a long time they were just… a set part of my self-image,” she explained, dragging a hand over her messy hair. “I thought— I thought that I was over it, but I— I don’t know. Maybe you never really are.”
His brain sorted through every moment of their year together, pinging off the countless examples of her self-doubt and insecurity. She was easily the most wonderful person he knew, but he could clearly see the cracks in the facade if he looked close enough. How had he missed it for so long?
“And then I met you, and you…” Y/N let out a wry laugh. “You’re easily the most interesting person I’ve ever met, but you made me feel like… I don’t know, like I’m interesting, too. Like I’m worthy of being with you, like I’m— like I’m good enough.”
He felt his heart splintering into a thousand tiny shards— good enough?
“But I can’t— I still have a hard time believing it sometimes. And I— I’ve been letting myself keep you at arms length. Letting you see parts of me, but… never giving you everything,” she admitted.
He watched her struggle to get the words out, her voice thick with the act of holding back sobs. He hadn’t realized she was carrying all of this. She was so good at supporting him and loving him through all of his trauma and issues, he hadn’t stopped to consider just how much she needed him, too.
She continued, “It’s why I took so long to say I love you… why I couldn’t talk to you last week. Because I just—” She shrugged as the tears rolled down her cheeks. “I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. For you to realize that I’m really nothing special. That you’re getting bored, or there’s someone who’s a better fit for you, or one million other things. That I’m needy, and annoying, and too much work.”
A fresh tear tracked down her cheek, and he felt his own eyes filling. She never failed to put a stop to his own insecurities— reminding him that she liked his rambling, that he wasn’t irritating, that he was just the right amount. In his eyes, she was perfect. He would have never guessed she felt this way about herself.
She continued, “That’s what happened before, and none of those guys were even half as wonderful as you are.” She swiped a hand haphazardly over her cheeks, looking at him sheepishly. “And then I was hurtful and awful, and I realized that I was just creating a self fulfilling prophecy and I don’t— I don’t want to do that.”
Her hand shook a little as she brought it back down to twist in his scarf. “Because it’s never— I’ve never felt like this. I've never been this happy with anyone else, and I don’t want to give that up. I don’t want to give you up. Even if sometimes I feel like I’ll never be enough.”
Her voice cracked on a stifled cry, and his chest physically ached. “And if you never want to see me again, I completely understand, and I’ll leave you alone, but I— I’m just so sorry. And I love you so much, and I’m trying so hard to be better.” She sucked in a ragged breath and let it out on an exhausted sigh. “And that’s, um— that’s it. If you want me to go, I—”
“I don’t want you to go,” he interrupted.
Her eyes went wide. “You don’t?”
“Of course not.” Spencer stepped forward and reached for her. “Of course not. C’mere.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, she was tumbling into his arms with a choked off sob. He pulled her inside and closed the door behind them, walking her to the couch and sitting them both down. She clung to him like she was afraid he’d disappear into thin air.
“Y/N, I’m right here,” he assured her. “I’m right here, baby. I’m not going anywhere.”
“But if you n-need space, I understand,” she sobbed.
“I appreciate the offer, but I don’t need space. I think a week was long enough, don’t you?” he asked, pressing a kiss into her hair.
She pulled back out of the hug, head down. “But I really hurt you.”
He held her hand. “Yeah. And I really hurt you, too.”
She huffed out a breath. “That’s not how this works. I don’t get to hurt you just because you hurt me.”
“I know that.” He almost laughed at how indignant she sounded. “I’m not saying that we should hurt each other. I’m saying that sometimes it happens. And when it does, we apologize, and we forgive, and we move forward. And it’s okay if you need space. But I don’t.”
“What if you change your mind?” she whispered.
“Then I promise I’ll tell you.” Spencer tilted her chin up so he could meet her eyes. “I promise I’ll tell you what I need, as long as you tell me, too. We’ve gotta use all those communication skills we learn in therapy.”
Y/N nodded, and he pulled her into another hug. He closed his eyes, letting out a sigh of relief. “If I hadn’t heard from you by Sunday, I was planning to bother you until you talked to me.”
He could feel the beginning of a smile turning up the corner of her mouth where it was pressed to his shoulder. “You never bother me,” she mumbled. She held him for a moment longer and then released him from the hug and sat back, fidgeting with her hands and letting out a breath.
“Sometimes I need to be told that my worst fears about myself aren’t true,” she admitted. “I know that’s so annoying, but—”
“It’s not annoying,” he interrupted, putting an immediate stop to that line of thought. “Telling you how amazing you are isn’t the chore that you think it is. I’m sorry that anyone ever convinced you that it was.”
He covered her hands with his own, rubbing his thumbs softly along her skin. He couldn’t stop thinking about her dealing with all of this by herself. He hated that she’d ever felt anything less than adored. More than anything, he hated that he hadn’t been able to help her through it. And he wanted to make sure that he never made that mistake again.
“A wise man told me once... that love is helping someone navigate their storms,” he murmured, squeezing her hand. She looked at him then, and he continued, “You’ve been my lighthouse for a long time, Y/N. And I— I’m trying desperately to be yours… But you have to let me.”
Her eyes filled with fresh tears, but she nodded. He let out a long breath and pulled her hands into his lap. “I understand that sometimes you need space, and that’s fine. I’m happy to give you whatever you need.”
He shook his head. “Just— please don’t try to weather the storm by yourself. You can’t do it all alone; no one can.” He smiled ruefully. “I can tell you from experience that’s pretty much a guaranteed way to capsize your boat.”
His voice cracked a little at the end, and he felt a tear slip over his lash line. “I’ll help you repair your boat, or build a new one, or you can just float on mine for a while. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty sturdy, I think.”
She brought her fingers up to brush at his damp cheeks, and he met her eyes. “What I’m not going to do is let you float out on the ocean by yourself. I love you too much.”
She was quiet for a long moment, sniffling a little and just watching him— almost like she couldn’t believe he was there. She brought her hand back to his and laced their fingers together, rubbing her thumb along his skin. “I love you the most.”
“Agree to disagree.” He gave her a small smile and leaned forward to press his lips to her forehead. “Want some tea?”
She was frowning when he pulled back, her brows drawn together. “I need to tell you about Owen.”
The conversation he’d had with Anita was suddenly on replay in Spencer’s head.
… a real piece of shit… telling her lies about herself… isolating her… destroying her from the inside out...
He squeezed her hand. “You don’t have to tell me if you’re not ready. You don’t have to tell me at all if you don’t want to.”
She shook her head. “Talking about him takes away his power. I have to stop letting him have so much sway over my emotions.” She looked at him then. “I do things I regret and hurt people I love.”
He brought their joined hands up his lips. “Well, I’m here either way. And I’m still going to make you some tea.”
He stood and pulled her up with him, bringing her into the kitchen and refusing to let go of her hand. He filled the kettle and turned it on, found a bag of her favorite tea and ripped it open with his teeth. He dropped the bag into her favorite mug, and then made a mug up for himself.
“You know, it’d be a lot easier if you’d let go,” she said, the hint of a smile in her voice.
“Mhm,” he agreed, but he made no move to release her hand. In fact, once he’d fumbled a spoonful of honey into each of the cups, he dropped the spoon into her mug and turned to pull her into another hug. He hooked his chin over her shoulder and closed his eyes as she brought her arms around his waist. “I missed you,” he whispered.
She squeezed him tight. “I missed you, too. I’m so sorry.”
She buried her face in his neck, and he felt her breathe him in. He pressed a kiss into her shoulder and then settled his chin again. “Apology accepted, in case it wasn’t clear.”
They stood like that until the kettle began to whistle, and then Spencer kept her tucked underneath his arm as he turned to shut it off and pour the water into the mugs. They each grabbed a mug, making their way back to the couch and setting them on the coffee table to steep. Spencer kept their fingers intertwined and stayed quiet, letting her set the pace of the conversation.
Y/N took a deep breath and let it out on a long sigh. “I guess I should start at the beginning. I, um— I had my first boyfriend in high-school: Cal Cunningham. He was older and cooler, and so I felt— I don’t know… special when he picked me.” She rolled her eyes. “In reality, he was rude, and arrogant, and kind of a misogynist. We didn’t date for very long, but it kind of… set me up on this path of dating guys who weren’t very nice.”
Spencer ran his thumb soothingly along hers, waiting for her to continue. “When I started college, I dated this guy Adam for a few months. He was nice enough but really self-centered and a little immature. When we broke up I just wanted to be on my own for a while.”
“I was single for two years after that, just kind of… finding myself and whatever.” Her eyes tracked the path his thumb traced along her skin. “So when I started dating Owen at the end of junior year, it felt like my first real relationship. Like— we were both adults, and he dressed up for our dates, and he paid for things and bought me flowers and fit all the cliches.”
“And it was great at first,” she admitted. “We had a lot of the same friends, so we’d been hanging out for a while before we got together. He was a perfect gentleman— and smart, accomplished, and ambitious. I fell fast, and I fell hard, and we were sort of— it feels so stupid to say this, but it felt like we were an it couple.”
“A few of us made plans to move to DC after graduation— my friend Jess and her boyfriend Chris, Sam and Anita,” she explained. “And Owen and I, obviously. We moved in together in an apartment downtown. And that’s when everything changed.”
She drew her brows together. “It was little things at first. Like he’d jokingly call me stupid for forgetting something, or he’d complain about one of my friends being annoying. But it snowballed pretty quickly. He’d tell me I was stupid, and he wasn’t joking. All of my friends irritated him to the point where we couldn’t hang out anymore— even our former mutual friends. He thought that teaching kindergarten was a mindless, pointless job.”
Spencer tried to keep his heart rate steady, his facial expressions neutral, but his blood pressure was on the rise. No one deserved to be spoken to like that, least of all Y/N.
She continued, “We spent the holidays at my parents’ the second year we were dating, and he spent the entire car ride home explaining, in detail, how ridiculous and low-class he thought everything was.”
She shook her head and rubbed her free hand over her face. “I know it’s insane that I stayed with him for five years, but I— he did a really good job of convincing me that I was... that I was nothing. That he was doing me a favor by loving me. That he could have anyone, but he chose me. No one else was going to, so I should be grateful.”
He balled his free hand into a fist to avoid squeezing her to death. When Anita had said Owen was a piece of shit… he hadn’t realized just how deeply she meant it.
She picked at the fabric of her sweatpants, staring intently at the tiny pills. “When someone says all of that to you on a daily basis, and you’re not hearing otherwise from anyone else— because no one knew what was going on— when someone tells you you’re nothing… you start to believe it.”
Spencer relaxed his fist to bring his fingers up to her face, gently cupping her cheek. She leaned into his touch and closed her eyes for a long moment. He didn’t know what to say. Instead, he pressed his lips to her forehead in a voiceless assurance that she was, in fact, everything. He felt her relax under the warm pressure of his lips, and he hoped that was enough for now.
He sat back to let her continue. “We were together for five years, and we only broke up because he cheated on me. It was a long term affair; they were sleeping together for almost a year before I found out. And… a lot of people knew. Almost all of his friends knew. But I didn’t. I was still being this ridiculous, desperate little Suzy Homemaker trying to make him happy, even though he was still treating me like shit.”
She laughed, but there wasn’t an ounce of humor in it. “When I found out, I wasn’t even hurt. I was… embarrassed, I guess. But I was so relieved. I was so fucking relieved that I had a way out.”
He watched as her shoulders settled, almost like an actual weight had been lifted off of them. “I got a therapist and dropped all of the friends that were still hanging around with him. I moved to a new neighborhood, started hanging out with Anita and Sam, and just— started fresh. And I was doing really well. I’ve had my moments of insecurity here and there, but for the most part, I’ve been able to recognize the moments when I’m falling back into old thought patterns.”
She looked at him then, and her eyes were so soft and lovely that his heart ached. “You’re a big reason for that. You’re so open with how you feel about me, and… it makes things a lot easier.” She dropped her gaze with a sigh. “But I— he was at the party on New Year's. And I didn’t know he was going to be there until I was already there , and then it felt stupid to leave. I thought I could handle it—”
“And then I didn’t answer your call.”
“No, no .” She shook her head and reached her free hand out to grasp his arm. “That’s— Spencer, none of this is your fault.” She furrowed her brow, and the crease between them was practically an abyss. “He sort of— cornered me on the patio. I hadn’t seen him in like, four years? And he was complimenting me, and asking about you, and then he tried to— well, he did kiss me actually. I shoved him off, and he didn’t like that, and he did his whole Owen thing. Told me that he’d cheated because I was uninteresting and worthless. That eventually you’d get bored of me, too. Just, um— generally awful shit.”
She took a deep breath, and the rest steamrolled off her tongue and over his heart. “And then he just— left . And he’d absolutely demolished my self-image in less than ten minutes, and I was embarrassed and angry at myself, and then you didn’t answer, but I was kind of glad you didn’t because I didn’t actually want to talk about it. And I thought I could just move on, but then I was being weird, and you knew something was wrong. And I just wanted to pretend like it never happened, but then you kept pressing me on it, and I just— I didn’t want to have to explain it all to you because I was afraid that— that maybe he was right.”
Y/N dissolved back into the couch, an unwelcome indication of the emotional exhaustion that came with reliving trauma. Spencer moved closer and mirrored the position of her body against the cushions, bringing his face close enough to bump their noses together. They breathed the same air for one noiseless minute before she finally met his eyes.
“I need you to understand that not one single thing he said to you— on New Year’s or ever— was right, in either sense of the word. None of it was factual, and none of it was acceptable.”
She gave him a weary nod, and he continued, “You are the single best person that I know. You’re kind, brilliant, and driven. You’re interesting, and wonderful, and lovely. You’re my absolute favorite person on the planet, and I will never get bored of you.”
He let his eyes trace over all the angles and curves of her face, and then raised his eyebrows. “He’s lucky that I respect you enough not to go over your head, because what I’d like to do is run a full background check and find any and every possible transgression that could be legally investigated and then use that information to ruin his life.” He tilted his head in thought. “That or— get really jacked and then beat the shit out of him.”
“God, please don’t. As much as I’d love to watch that unfold,” she cupped his face in her hand, “you’re better than that. And he’s not worth either of our energies… I already wasted enough time dwelling on it and hurt you in the process.” She dropped her hand back to her lap with a sigh. “I spent so much time in that relationship that my brain didn’t know what to do with this good, healthy one.”
He took both of her hands in his, squeezing them tight and then pressing a kiss to the back of each. He wouldn’t commit assault, since she’d asked him not to. But he wasn’t going to let Owen taint any part of his life with her.
“I’m so sorry that someone you loved made you think it was hard to love you. Because loving you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.” He pressed his lips together and mused, “But I think maybe love has a learning curve. Especially when you’re used to being hurt. You have to unlearn all the bullshit. People will have you thinking that you have to water yourself down, or change who you are, or make yourself more palatable. I thought that, too.”
He brushed her hair back away from her face and waited for her to meet his eyes. “And then I met you. And you love all of it— all of me. All the rambling, all the quirks, and— even the dark parts, too.”
She sniffled a little, but really smiled for the first time that night. “What’s not to love about you?”
He smiled back. “I’m not sure if you realize that I fully reciprocate that feeling. What’s not to love about you? I have a hard time thinking of even one thing about you that I don’t absolutely adore.”
“Even when I act like a horrid bitch?” she mumbled, only half joking.
He leaned his head against the couch cushion. “A year ago, you stood on my doorstep and gave me forgiveness— after I’d been a complete asshole to you... I told you then that I wanted to learn how to love with you. I still do. In all the wonderful, and the weird, and the terrible. Even when we get it wrong.”
He shrugged, and then ran a soft fingertip down the bridge of her nose. “There is no one else I’d rather get it wrong with. Because when we get it right… it’s the closest I’ve ever felt to magic.”
Her eyes sparkled with unshed tears, and she brought both hands up to his face, holding him with an adoration that made his own eyes burn. “You can believe that you love me the most,” she whispered, “but just know that you’re wrong.”
He leaned forward to close the distance between them, pressing a kiss to her lips with a reverence that felt technicolor and devout and more magical than any trick he’d ever mastered.
“Agree to disagree.”

6 and 7 for piltover’s finest? or bumbleby, you can choose!!
been brainrotting because of the arcane s2 announcement voicelines, so this is loosely based off of that.
Vi’s eyelids fluttered, her body stuck between almost falling unconscious again and being in too much pain to actually fall asleep. Everything hurt, but she supposed it was better for her to be laying in a fancy Piltover bed in her state rather than curled up on the cold, dirty ground of some Undercity alleyway.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the door of the room swiftly opening, and her heart soared when the familiar figure of Caitlyn hurried into the room, her ponytail present but barely holding her hair together and dark circles lining her eyes. She was worse for wear, but nonetheless her very presence felt like a healing balm for Vi’s wounds.
“I came as soon as I heard.” She said once the door was shut. She gave a knowing look to her father, who had taken up residence at Vi’s bedside, and he simply nodded and quietly made his way out of the room. Caitlyn instead sat at the edge of the bed, mere inches away from Vi.
“Cupcake-“ She started.
“What we’re you thinking, Vi?” Caitlyn cut in, and Vi sank in on herself. Her partner looked disappointed and angry and… heartbroken. “Why did you go after Jinx all on your own without any backup?”
“I know it was stupid, Cait, I know. But she’s my sister, and she’s still out there, and after what happened last time I couldn’t put you in harms way again. She wants me and… I can’t let her hurt you. I can’t.”
“You’re not allowed to make that decision for me, Vi.” Caitlyn said sternly, then her expression softened ever so slightly. “I know you’re worried after what happened last time but I’m still here, aren’t I? Leaving me alone doesn’t guarantee my safety. What if Jinx had found me again when you left?”
It was a deep cut and Caitlyn knew it, but it did the trick. Vi flashed back to mere months ago, tied up in a chair, her heart pounding out of her chest as Powder told her that she visited Caitlyn and fearing that she’d see the woman she’d come to care for so deeply’s head on a platter. The momentary relief that instantly turned to dread when Powder wheeled a bound and gagged Caitlyn into the room, her eyes wide and terrified. She couldn’t let that happen again, she wouldn’t.
But Caitlyn had a point, didn’t she? She had left Caitlyn, all alone and vulnerable to any attacks from Powder, just like she did after the council meeting.
Vi was vaguely aware of the tears forming in her eyes, and she closed them tight, willing them away. But Caitlyn was too observant and instead reached out to brush her hand along Vi’s cheek, not unlike how she’d done the first time they had laid in this bed together.
“I know you want to protect me, Vi. But we’re always going to be stronger together than we will be apart. And frankly, you don’t get to make decisions for me, that’s not fair. Especially not when you end up being the one to get beat up for it.”
Vi curled into Caitlyn, her head pressing against Caitlyn’s chest. Caitlyn scooted closer to Vi so she could better hold her, at least as well as she could in her current condition. When Caitlyn’s hands found Vi’s back and head, Vi finally let the waterworks out.
She cried for her lost sister, who’d lost so much and caused others so much loss in the process. For Caitlyn, who was too damn good for this world and for her but never asked for anything more than for Vi to stay by her side. For both of them, the two people she loved the most, who she was always forced to choose no matter the circumstances.
“I’m sorry.” She repeated through sobs, feeling like a child again. But Caitlyn only pressed her lips to Vi’s forehead, telling her, “Everything is going to be alright.” every time she apologized.

I am but a humble person that enjoys Tiny!Wilbur and Giant!Tommy fearplay that has some comfort-
:]
-Candle Licker Mfer
Here's your request my candle dearest! Apologises if there's many mistakes, i may may not have been sleep deprived whilst writing this and may may not have tried to defeat god in the process but thats not the point-
Warnings: Fearplay (tossing of tiny) and that's about it.
Words: 1.4K
So recently, Wilbur and Tommy had come over to visit Phil for a while as they were planning on working on vlogs and spending quality time with dad, but that certain person was currently and conveniently not home at the moment.
So that left this mischievous duo to their own doings, and the two decided the best idea was to play hide and seek, which may have may not have proved to be a mistake, not one with any fatal or perhaps traumatic experiences but it was something, nonetheless.
Compared to normal hide and seek, usually, both would considerably be normal-sized, but Tommy and Wilbur have added a little trick to this game of theirs, you see, normal hide and seek can be so boring so a little twist to the game makes it all the more exciting, the twist being that one or the other will be tiny.
The reasoning being that it makes the game so much more fun, it adds more excitement and boy, does it boost your ego; At least for Wilbur’s sake since he’s always the fucking giant and always fucking wins He always fucking wins, he always scares Tommy by lifting him so high up into the air… But oh, this time, this time will be different.
Why? Because well this time Tommy was the giant as our little Wilbur had taken some amount of pity to our dearest Tommy but oh man was that his mistake and now. Tommy was prepared to win, he had memorised all of Wilbur’s hiding spots, so he was bound to win. Oh, how they turned have tables, he had his guaranteed win this time.
“Tommy. What on earth are you snickering about?”. His trail of thoughts was cut off as the sound of Techno’s voice hit his eardrums. “TECHNOO!!”. Right, Technoblade was here too… Wait if Techno’s here then- “If you’re worried about that game of yours, Wil already told me about it. Just leave me be and I won’t give a shit”.
Relief washed over him, at least Techno was gonna be chill about it, he’s usually quite the dickhead when it comes to these sorts of things.
He sighed as he paced around the room, waiting for the signal that Wilbur was ready to be found. He waited for what seemed like hours until a “Du du du duu” Sound was heard from his phone, it was time.
He booted it out of the room in search of the tiny. He carefully looked through the corridor, pacing it three times to be sure, then headed to the kitchen down the hall. Within he checked the sink, fridge and every cupboard to its nook and cranny but still no sign of the bitch boy.
He took it upon himself to search the bedrooms and so he did, not Techno’s though, but he did knock and ask in case Wilbur was hiding in there, Techno was one thing, but Techno would not betray Tommy and he knew it. As he searched, he found no sign of him. So, he searched the bathrooms.
He looked at the shower, bathtub, medicine cabinet, baskets heck even a peek at the water tank but nothing. The only other place Wilbur could possibly hide was either the storage closet or the longue.
He cringed as he thought of the storage closet, that would be a hell to go through, but it was better to search through there first. He went downstairs and did a quick yet efficient search and found nothing.
Wilbur was probably in the living room... He groaned at the thought of it since he’s always hiding in the most obvious of places. And went he searched, under the carpet, couches, tables, behind the tv, in the drawers, between the couch cushions and everything yet there was nothing…
He hadn’t, the secret spot… Oh was Wilbur screwed now! Tommy knew right where he was. The thought of victory made him feel so superior, he hadn’t even one yet but victory was so damn close and he could feel it, the rush, the feeling, the ego and boy was he excited to have it.
He went to the dining room and there in the wall was a slightly open hidden compartment, Wilbur was in there alright… Tommy had found it a while ago, whenever Wilbur was tiny he’d always come from near the dining room, so one day while Wilbur was out he searched the entire room and found the compartment, Wilbur was smart he’d give him that.
How did Tommy know Wilbur was in there? Because it was shut before the game started and he made sure to check and since it was now slightly open, there was no other place he could be. He knew Techno wouldn’t betray him!
He made sure not to make a single sound… He wanted Wilbur to feel as much fear as possible… He investigated the small peek hole and saw the man sleeping?
Damn was he confident in himself, little did he know he was just going to have the scare of his life…
He quick as he could, he yanked open the compartment door and yanked Wilbur right out, Wilbur screamed his head off, one moment he was asleep in the compartment the next he was startled awake by Tommy…
“TOMMY! THE FUCK MAN!”. But did Tommy stop there? No how could he after every time Wilbur found him?
Every time Wilbur found him, every time he was sure he’d win. Wilbur found him at the last minute he was caught off guard and scared the living hell out of him. Now it was Wil’s turn to feel that fear…
He tossed Wilbur high as he could without reaching the ceiling, being careful not to drop Wilbur. He screamed his lungs out again and as he landed in Tommy’s hand with an ‘oof’. He was tossed again, when Wilbur landed again, he quickly screamed at Tommy to “STOP IT TOMMY!” but he didn’t as he was tossed a third time.
Tommy thought that was enough revenge and caught Wilbur, bringing him towards his face and smirking with a big ego, just like Wilbur did. “THE FUCKED TOMS?!”. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, had he been too rough?
That was when he saw Wilbur’s chest rising up and down at a really fast pace, Wilbur had tears in his eyes. Fuck, he fucked up, fuck, what does he do?!
“Wil? Wil? Shit- I-I’m sorry! Please!”. Wilbur took a deep breath, calming his nerves somewhat. “Tommy I’m fine!” He yelled slightly, in between breaths. It didn’t ease Tommy’s worries though. “I’m sorry..”. He muttered and put Wilbur back down onto the couch.
The two sat down on the couch, neither breaking the silence for a moment as Wilbur tried to control his breathing. Tommy looked away, ashamed of what he did, he had his head in between his knees and refused to look at anything else.
A couple of minutes later, Wilbur’s breathing had turned to a normal panic, his mind raced as he thought about what had happened, why the fuck would Tommy do shit like that?!
But he did feel bad for yelling at the teen, he knows the teen hates being yelled at. So carefully, he made his way across the couch and sat at Tommy’s shoulder.
“You alright?”. Wilbur asked as he began to comfort the boy, “Wil- I just fucking hurt you! I’m sorry I just-“He could hear it in his voice, although somewhat blocked, he could still hear the boys sobs. “Hey, it’s alright. Don’t worry about it. Why’d you do it in the first place?”. He ran circles on the boy's chin.
“I- I just wanted you to feel how I felt every time you found me… You always scare the life out of me, sometimes I even think you’re going to drop me. I wasn’t gonna hurt you I promise! I just-“.
“Oh shit Toms- I..” Now Wilbur felt really bad, no wonder why the boy had done it, why he looked he scared every time he was picked up, shit, Wilbur had been an ass himself hadn’t he?”.
“Oh god, did I really scare you like that Toms?”. “Mhm-“. “Hey- hey- look at me”. He directed Tommy’s face to look at him, there he saw the tears running down his face. He placed his hands on his nose and hugged it.
“I’m sorry Toms, really I am. I promise to be gentler, just come here now okay?”. Tommy leaned in closer and held Wilbur in his hands and cuddled.
Hopefully, hide and seek wouldn’t be too rough now.

It's very, very bad.
I probably already need to write some specific greeting, so that you understand that this is me again. I think something like " And here you are again a freelance newspaper worker writing about the life of a Yuu reporter!!" Today you will read a rather stressful and difficult passage, an article, a mini-script? I suggest you stock up on handkerchiefs.
This day was completely different. Grimm suddenly didn't show up for breakfast, and disappeared somewhere. None of the neighbors even saw him this morning. But Yuu definitely remembered that they went to bed together. How they covered themselves with a blanket, how they turned out the lights and fell asleep after a hard day's work. Yuuken's phone hadn't been answered for several hours, which was very unlike him. Also, the cameraman did not show up for the shooting of the report. No one in the office knew what was going on, and no one knew where he was. Yuu could feel everything inside him twisting into a tight knot of tension and despair. It seemed less and less like it was just a coincidence.
- Please let it be a misunderstanding. - Yuu consoled himself with these thoughts. But their intuition literally screamed that things were very bad. Everything goes wrong.
Even the villains seem to have decided to take a sudden day off for villainy. For a couple of hours, Yuu had been trying to call Yuuken or find Grimm. But there were no traces, no notes about the abduction. All his nerves were taut as strings. Almost choking, Yuu looks in horror at the black raven feather on his desk. This is Crowley's doing. It's a lousy case scenario. Things are bad, very bad. But what did he want from them? Why suddenly now?No matter how many questions were asked in Yuu's mind, there was no answer. A few hours later, Yuu found himself in the heart of the lair of the terrible leader of the villainous league of Crowley. Their anger was boundless and Yuu literally wanted to break the neck of this restless crow, which does not want to leave him alone. - what do you want, old crow? They decided to ask the question right away and not waste time. Fearing that it will be disastrously small to provide assistance. - Oh, Yuu, I'm so glad you decided to join me tonight. Would you like some tea? - Crowley sat quietly in his large, massive, and gaudy-looking throne chair. While they themselves were sitting on a simple chair. It was as if he was doing everything he could to show how helpless and small Yuu was compared to him. - If by join, you mean that your thugs kidnapped me and dragged me here by force, almost trashing my apartment and scaring the entire neighborhood. Wouldn't you... go fuck yourself?! Why did you suddenly think to kidnap me?what do you need?!
Yuu well understood that now is not the best idea to give vent to their anger and irritation. But they were on edge all day and the stress was stronger than usual. It had all been piling up like a snowball... for so long and so painfully. - Hush, hush, baby bird, I don't think you're in a position to let your emotions run wild right now. But I'm so kind that I'd rather not notice this little outburst of anger - Crowley indifferently took a sip of amazingly expensive tea from an equally expensive cup and saucer. - What do you want? - Yuu literally gritted his teeth to get to the bottom of it.One part of them was thinking about escape options, the other was praying that nothing happened to Yuuken and Grimm and they were kidnapped by another villain from the seven, waiting for either the Prefect or the reporter to come. They may be villains. But they are not so stupid as to harm the people dear to Yuu. They might as well have tried to kidnap Divus Cruel, but they would have been brainless in the next few hours, even if they had been very lucky not to be tortured half to death by his experiments.
- I'm glad you asked! You see I am so gracious that I will tell you my beautiful plan. As you recall, you are my biological heir. This is a very responsible and serious position in which I will need to make sure that after me there will be a leader who may even surpass me. It would be such a wonderful arrangement of affairs! Yuu wanted to punch that old crow even more. Crowley continued. - And as you must understand by now, all my previous persuasions have failed. As well as the idea that you went through adversity at birth. Yuu didn't like what he was talking about with them. - That's why!For the past few months, I've patiently let you enjoy the life you're used to. Make friends and family, get a job that you like. Even get a strange pet. And I had an amazing idea!If you couldn't get through the hardships when you were still a child, then I can easily arrange it now to break you the way I need to! Crowley chuckled smugly. Meanwhile, Yuu had the feeling that he was watching some kind of nightmare that they couldn't wake up from. - break me...what..What are you talking about? - Yuu could barely whisper their question. A chill swept through his body as quickly as if they had fallen under one of Charon's freezing traps.
But it wasn't ice. This was their terror with fear. Crowley puts his hands together and leans on his desk. - Do I sound so vague to you? Oh, you seem so happy that I'm giving you this opportunity to enjoy your peaceful days as a civilian. But I decided that it was time to stop with these children's games. Crowley presses a button on the remote control and a screen with security cameras turns on behind him. Yuu's stomach clenched in shock and horror. They screamed abruptly getting up from the chair and holding their hands over their mouths in fear, they looked at the bound Yuken and Grim, worse, Crowley did not stop.... in another screen  were...their parents. They were also abducted and tied up.
Crowley went on with his plan.
- All I had to do was take everything you hold dear and brutally eliminate it in front of your eyes. As long as you're a weak cub, you can't stop it.
No wonder they talked about Crowley's monstrous reputation, Yuu almost choked on their own tears and despair.
- no...No, don't touch them!!They have nothing to do with it!! - Yuu pleaded, literally burning the old crow with his eyes.
- I told you I didn't want your money, your position, and I certainly don't want to be your heir!"!You already have 7 candidates choose one of them, why do you keep interfering and threatening me to kill my loved ones?!? - Because I'm kind enough to give you a little choice."
The Yuus recoiled from him. Again, this dirty manipulation. He's going to brainwash them, that's for sure.
- The choice is cub. You stay and I teach you as my heir, how to manage my affairs and the craft of villainy. Or ...
Yuu suppresses a ragged sigh. They didn't even notice the tears running down their cheeks and their shoulders shaking.
Crowley truly reveled in the sight and the sense of his own superiority.
- I will kill these people slowly and painfully until you learn everything, and you will see every day how your mistakes cause pain and suffering to your loved ones.
It was as if a vacuum had appeared in Yuu's head. Either way, Crowley gave them no choice. He had planned it all from the beginning.
- where...Where's the guarantee that if I stay, you won't kill them at the same time?where is the proof that they are not dead? Crowley laughed merrily, and Yuu felt helpless and weak for the first time in his life. Things are too bad, Yuu can't think of a single option for saving everyone, including myself.
- Great question!!You see, if you voluntarily stay, they guarantee me that you will not try to escape in the future and that you will be a diligent student.
Yuu thought for a second that Crowley had put an invisible noose around his neck and was pulling it tighter and tighter. Like a puppet master's collar or strings.
- If you try to escape and somehow find them in my labyrinth lair. - Crowley pressed another button on his remote control Yuu looked at the other wall and saw a reflection of himself. Terrified, their cheeks glistening with tears, as if they were lost and broken. Just like Crowley wanted.
The leader of the League of Villains gets up from his desk and takes Yuu by the shoulders and turns their face to the camera.
- Your beloved Dair Crowley and our charming reporter Yuu are on the air. Yuu stubbornly refused to look at the camera and was riveted by the eyes of his loved ones. Even through their tears, they could see that they were still fine. Yuuken played with Grim in words to pass the time. I don't think Grimm did very well, but he tried.
And his parents...
Yuu sobbed softly and barely smiled. Their father was humming a tune inaudible to their ears and kicking out a rhythm with his feet. And their mother, their kind, sweet mother, sang with him.
They were afraid, they did not know what they would do to them and whether they would live. But they sang.
Crowley was talking and talking to the camera, but they weren't listening. Yuu is too tired to be strong, too tired to be in the midst of these evil-hero fights, to be involved in these conflicts. They just wanted to live the peaceful life of a citizen, a friendly neighbor. Instead of being in their worst nightmare right now, which Yuu didn't know how to get out of.
Crowley dug his sharp nails into Yuu's cheeks very painfully, forcing them to forcibly turn their heads towards him and the camera.
- Do as I say. - Crowley whispered menacingly, as if about to kill him.
The Yuu felt that they were so brittle and broken that if Crowley pressed any more, their bones would crack just like they are now. - So my dear viewers, I will be so kind as to answer your main question!!Your favorite reporter and friendly neighbor has a unique opportunity. Stay with me as a hostage voluntarily and save your family and friends, or I'll have to persuade them with my own words ... -  Crowley's eyes darkened and Yuu for the first time was afraid for the loved ones because Crowley wasn't always such a jerk.
- in kind and gracious ways. How about holding the whole city hostage? Ah probably you are now enveloped in a beautiful fear of not knowing that if the Yuu refuse, I will kill every civilian-Crowley specifically emphasized this point.
"Every single one of them, one by one, until the Yuu eventually agree. Ask why I need it?You see, I have some plans for this naughty child..
Yuu groaned softly as Crowley's other hand, with its sharp fingers, gripped his forearm very painfully, digging its nails through his clothes into the skin and scratching it.
- a monster.. - Yuu whispered softly, no longer holding back his tears. They were literally breaking down by the second. On the other side of the screen, the Leviathan in his lair dropped all the papers from his hands and turned pale with the realization of the whole situation. Crowley decided to go the route of violence if he was tired of Yuu's refusals. And the worst scenario he could have imagined came true..
- Err?!?Azul!!The shrimp is crying!I don't like it!! Floyd said angrily, not looking up from the screen.
- What are we going to do? -  Jade looked at his boss expectantly. Azul sat down unsteadily on the arm of his chair.
- Crowley literally says to all the villains do not interfere or I will kill him.. - Azul replied softly, feeling a cold sweat break out on his skin... None of the villains knew what to do or what to do. But everyone swore to themselves that they would never bring Yuu to such tears. To such a terrible state... I will end my passage here. I want to hear your impressions, thoughts, and ideas!!Open to everything!
It's so great to hear that you like what I write!
...well.
Well.
You were right about needing tissues!! Holy hell, this is serious End Game level work!! This is definitely building up to a dramatic conclusion!!
Crowley seems to hold all the cards here! He’s got Yuu’s family and friends (and who he thinks is the Prefect’s secret identity) hostage so that the reporter can’t fight back or be saved, and he’s got Yuu so the supervillains can’t make a move unless they want Yuu’s death on their heads. It seems like all hope is lost...
...Though I notice Crowley hasn’t exactly factored in what a certain Uncle and other honorary family members on the board of the League, or the three mysterious old men who own Yuu’s apartment will have to say about this...
Or the fact that the Prefect may not be as contained as he thinks...

Requesting for Zelda taking care of Link when he's sick 👀👀 thanks!
Livin' On A Prayer
Five words and everything else faded. She felt dizzy, her ears were buzzing, and her eyes were going out of focus. The doctor continued to talk but his words were unheard as she stared blankly in shock.
He wouldn’t last the week
He wouldn’t last the week
He wouldn’t last the week.
She forgot that the words “worst case scenario” came before them, she forgot the doctor was still talking, she forgot her children were listening until a small hand tugged on her shirt. She was thrust back into the moment.
Zelda looked over to her son, his green eyes so unlike hers, filled with intrigue instead of sadness, oozing with an innocence she almost regretted giving him.
“What’s happening in a week, momma?” The three-year old asked.
Zelda moved her lips and yet struggled to find the words, looking at the doctor across from her desperately. Tears formed in her speechlessness.
“Elyjah,” the doctor beckoned. “Come here.”
The little boy tottered over, the doctor placing his large hands on either of the boy’s small shoulders.
“Take your sister and go up the hill to Purah’s lab.”
They boy turned his head back around to his mother, who couldn’t bear to look him in the eye. If he knew something was wrong, he didn’t say a word about it, looking back at the doctor.
“Your mom will come to get you both before supper,” the doctor continued. “Can you do that?”
Elyjah nodded, and before Zelda knew it, he had taken Wendie’s hand and was downstairs and out the door.
Zelda looked down at the way her hands wrung as the doctor waited patiently for her next question. He had told her everything he could, but knew that in these types of situations, things often needed repeating.
“Is…” Zelda tried, but her voice was weak, broken and shaky, unrehearsed and improper. “…I-Is there anything that can be done to cure him…before…”
She couldn’t even finish.
Luckily, she didn’t need to for the doctor to understand what she was asking.
“Like I said, all treatments would be experimental.” He said. “But you and I both know that we are out of miracles, fairies have no affect and all common elixirs do nothing to stop the symptoms. Pretty soon the fluid in his lungs won’t let him breathe, and there won’t be anything we can do except be thankful that the tough elixirs I gave to you and your children prevented the spread of the disease.”
Zelda nodded.
“The uhm…” she attempted. “The enduring elixir that you’ve been giving him…that manages the symptoms, it has tireless frogs and monster parts, right?”
“That’s right,” the doctor said with a nod. “And I am currently experimenting with energetic rhino beetles and restless crickets to create something a bit stronger, perhaps even a more permanent cure, but as I said there is no guarantee, and if nothing works you’ll be a widow within…”
The doctor stopped himself, bit his tongue and cursed his bluntness, especially, since the green eyes that looked at him burned with an angry grief.
“I apologize,” the doctor said, standing up. “I will return tomorrow to check up on him. May Hylia bless him and your family.”
Zelda knew he meant that as a parting of reassurance as she leaned back with a sigh in the chair she sat, hearing the doctor depart from the house as she thought of how very little Hylia had to do with any of it.
“Zelda,” Link’s voice croaked. It sounded terribly painful and Zelda looked over immediately at the sound that meant Link had woken up.
“Link,” she said, rushing over to her husband’s side and taking his hand. His head looked over to meet her eyes, that filled with love as much as his. His blonde hair was unbrushed and tangled, let loose from the blue elastic he had begun to wear less frequently ever since the incident in the caves.
It all seemed like a lifetime ago.
“What did the doctor say?” Link asked, his voice even more broken than Zelda’s, hoarse and crumbly. His breathing was loud too, as if Zelda could hear his lungs fighting to breathe the wild again.
“N-nothing,” Zelda lied. “Nothing. E-everything’s fine.”
Link rolled his head so that he looked up at the ceiling.
“That bad, huh?”
Zelda took a deep breath into her next words.
“He thinks you will be gone within the week,” she said, and she couldn’t help but glance at the small white rags near him, that were dotted with flem with hues ranging from yellow to white, and even a couple that showed he was coughing up blood. Zelda shook her head, meaning to voice that she would stop this from happening but her inhale turned into a sob. Zelda dove her head into Link’s chest and cried tears that hiccuped her shoulders, that prompted Link to rest his good hand on her head.
“I won’t let this happen, Link,” Zelda said, her voice muffled. “I can’t, I…I-I’ll work day and night to find something…something that’s enough to cure…”
Her sobbing stopped her words, Link gently petting the hair on her head as he stared at the ceiling of their Hateno home.
He wasn’t ready to die, and he wasn’t ready to accept it either.
With his other arm he clutched her, hugged her, melted into her.
“You’ll find it,” he said. “And even if you don’t, it’s okay. This isn’t on you.”
Zelda retreated from the embrace, sniffling away her tears with no concern for wiping them away.
“You feel warm,” she said, taking the wet rag off his forehead. Link looked over to see her standing up. “I’ll replace this. Do you need anything else? Are you hungry? Thirsty? I should bring you water regardless.” She was on the verge of more tears but she steadily ignored it. “And food, I’ll make you a bunch of dishes you like. One of them is bound to be appetizing.”
“Zelda--”
“Then of course I’ll get back to researching a cure,” Zelda continued. “I’ll have the kids spend the night at Purah’s because it will be a long night for sure. Of course you need your rest.”
“Zelda,” Link asserted, squeezing her hand. He continued slowly, “you do too.”
Zelda shook her head, denying his insistence and pulling his wrist away so that his fingers let go of her hand.
“Not until you are better,” Zelda said, almost angry. Not angry at Link, but at the world, at her luck. It was one thing to be tortured by Calamity Ganon for 117 years, and then to find themselves in a true battle with him that separated them between earth and sky, but to get through all that for it to end here? She couldn’t fathom it.
She descended the stairs before Link could disagree, and spent the night pouring over every book, every journal, whether hers or Link’s, every spare footnote, and anything they could have forgotten.
When the sun rose the next day, blanketing her in a warm, golden glow, the entire kitchen table was covered in books and notes. And yet the one she used as her pillow was a very old journal, from Link’s first venture around Hyrule after emerging from the shrine of resurrection.
Although Zelda was sound asleep, the words “Medicinal Molduga” seemed to have been circled before she conked out. Whether it was because she let herself sleep or because she simply was overtaken by fatigue, the doctor had no idea, treading into their Hateno home after knocking and hearing no response.
“Miss,” he said shaking her shoulder. “Miss I think we’ve done it, Miss.”
“What?” Zelda said as her eyes fluttered open, her head slowly lifting from where it gave her a great creak in the neck. She looked over.
“Doctor Grey,” she said with narrow, tired eyes that tried to block out the sunlight. “What are you doing here?”
“I did it,” he said excitedly, almost too excitedly for so early in the morning. He sat down at a nearby chair. “I figured it out. A procedure that can safely drain the fluid from his lungs. All I needed was something to kill the infection afterwards and…I think you just figured it out.”
“I did what?” Zelda said, obviously still half-awake, her eyes closing and opening lethargically.
“See right here,” the doctor said. “You circled Molduga. I never thought to use that as medicine before but the way their stomach acids are constructed might just work as an antibacterial agent. It’s so obvious.”
“I don’t remember doing that at all,” Zelda said, shaking her head, looking at the old journal before it actually came together in her head. “Wait, are...are you telling me…”
The doctor nodded.
“Yes,” he said. “There’s a chance. Do you have any Molduga guts here?”
“Oh, of course,” Zelda said, standing up quickly and shuffling through drawers desperately and haphazardly. “We always have something of everything.”
In the last drawer she saw it, their salvation, some green goop she once thought nothing of. She smiled, she cried, and after she sent the doctor along with the guts the prepare for the procedure, she woke up Link and kissed him, kissed him like she did when they reunited for good, when they married, when they had their children, and every other milestone after that, whether small or big.
And later that day, when the procedure was successful and his symptoms were fading, she kissed him like that again. She could breathe a breath of relief when Link proved to have the strength to sit up and truly kiss her back for the first time in a month.

Even when chosen one succumbs to the fields,
the hero will never yield.
To save Olympus and finish the war,
Is everyone’s final goal thus far.
The son of Zeus stands high and proud,
While the other watches happily from the ground.
The war is to end when the other is safe and sound,
To break the chains keeping Olympus bound.
Tumblr media
Y/N collapsed on the floor, her mind racing a mile a minute.
Joonhyuk is dead.
From behind her, she can hear Ari—daughter of Aphrodite and Joonhyuk’s girlfriend—break into hysterics.
Bongjoo—son of Demeter—fretted over the girl and Beomjae—son of Athena—wracked his mind for solutions to the current dilemma.
“What do you mean my brother is dead?” Y/N muttered from her spot at the floor.
No one bothered to reply.
In that one corner, she never felt as alone as she did.
She just lost her little brother, the boy who has been by her side through everything—her little protege who never let the title son of Zeus get in his head.
Joonhyuk, the savior of the prophecy, is dead.
Beomjae’s eyes softened as Y/N pulled herself up.
“He—Joonhyuk can’t die, guys. The prophecy said he’s the hero, the son of Zeus. He’s the only son of Zeus so—“ Y/N stuttered out.
Beomjae approached the girl with a soothing pat on her shoulders.
“I-I know, I don’t understand either, Y/N,” Beomjae sighed.
“We can’t win the war without him,” Bongjoo mumbled.
“Is there any way to get him back?” Ari sobbed. “I love him—I want him back!”
Y/N whirled around to the grieving girl, fire in her eyes as she snarled.
“Can you stop being selfish for once?!” Y/N growled.
Ari cried harder as she glared at the daughter of Zeus.
“Y/N, that’s enough,” Beomjae mumbled soothingly as he pulled the angry girl away. “I can think of a way,”
“What?”
“Souls have been saved from the Underworld before, through diplomacy and negotiation with Hades,” Beomjae offered.
“Do you think it’ll work?” Ari asked weakly.
“I think so,” Beomjae sighed.
“I think we can pull it off and reason with Hades—after all, it is the war of the gods we’re fighting,” Bongjoo sighed, still comforting Ari.
“Okay, not to be pessimistic—but this is Hades we’re talking about,” Y/N said. “One: we’re not fighting the war of the gods—we’re fighting the war to save Olympus. If you haven’t noticed, Hades is the god that hates Olympus. I doubt he’d care,”
Ari opened her mouth to talk, but Y/N continued her rant.
“Two: This isn’t a Disney cartoon. You can’t just go down and go all Hercules and steal a soul off Styx—Styx doesn’t even have the souls. We won’t know where Joonhyuk is,”
Ari started to cry once more as Beomjae sighed.
“Well, do you have any other solutions?”
Y/N stopped talking, lips pursed as she thought of another loophole.
There wasn’t.
“Well?” Beomjae asked.
Y/N sighed, grabbing her coat from a nearby rack.
“Fine, but I’m going with you,” Y/N said, grumbling under her breath. “If this fails, I told you so,”
Tumblr media
Y/N pulled on the loose threads on her jacket as she groaned.
“I can’t believe this is happening right now,” Y/N hissed.
“Better believe it, we’re here,” Beomjae scolded as he cleared his throat as he looked up at the gigantic door leading to Hades’ castle.
“How exactly do we get in?” Bongjoo asked, flinching as Ari scoffed.
“The faster we get in,” Ari said, stomping forward and pushing the other three demigods out of the way. “The faster I get him back,”
Y/N blinked as Ari pounded on the gigantic wooden door with a scream.
“Hades, let us in!” Ari screamed hysterically. “Let us in!”
Y/N pulled Ari away.
“Calm down—we don’t want to infuriate the god—“
Click!
The four demigods looked over at the wooden doors swung open.
Another wooden door was visible at the end of the hall.
Ari brushed Y/N’s hand off her shoulder to shoot the girl a glare.
“You we’re saying?” Ari hissed as she stomped in the castle with an arrogant pep in her step.
“That’s it—we’re going to die,” Y/N said, smacking her lips as she followed Ari into the hall.
As they neared the second door, it swung open as well—and they were met with a man their age.
He was decked in a black turtleneck and jeans as he slumped on the throat—head propped on his palm as he looked onto the group.
“Hi,” he sighed, straightening up. “What can I do for you?”
His voice was so deep, charming—simply alluring.
There was no reply as the demigods looked at each other.
Y/N stepped forward, clearing her throat as she looked at the boy straight in the eyes.
Very cute boy—with long legs, jet-black hair, bright brown eyes, upturned lips.
“We would like to speak with Lord Hades,” Y/N spoke, voice firm and determined.
The boy smiled, chuckling silently as he tilted his head.
“You are speaking to Hades,” The boy laughed.
Y/N’s eyes widened as she turned back to her companions.
By those words, Ari was gaping, Bongjoo looked confused and Beomjae just looked downright shocked.
“Y-You’re Hades?” Ari asked, holding a hand to her mouth. “I thought you’re like 43? You’re not 43—you’re cute!”
Hades blinked on his throne before looking back down at Y/N, coughing awkwardly.
“I—uh—I look like this usually,” The god muttered as he fidgeted in his throne.
He cleared his throat before smiling once more.
“Anyway, what can I do for you?” He asked.
Y/N was mesmerized as every move of the boy made the diamond jewelry on his body glint in the firelight.
She shook her head as Hades looked at her expectantly.
“My brother—his name is Joonhyuk, son of Zeus. He’s the hero of the prophecy for the current war, but he died,” Y/N spoke.
“Prophecy?” The god asked, furrowing his eyebrows. “Like, the war of Olympus prophecy?”
“Yes,”
The god look taken aback as he opened his mouth.
“Oh, but,” Hades frowned. “he’s dead, and even I can’t dictate what the fates would decide. If he’s dead, he’s dead,”
“He can’t die, my lord,” Beomjae started, stepping up next to Y/N. “He’s our only chance at winning—and you’re our only chance at getting him back,”
Y/N turned back to the god as he only tilted his head.
Beomjae launched into a monologue of explanation.
“Orpheus and Eurydice—you gave Orpheus a chance to get Eurydice back,” Beomjae reasoned.
“I knew he was going to look back,” The god shrugged. “Wouldn’t cost me a soul, so—“
“Please, Hades,” Ari pleaded.
“I don’t get paid for this shit,” Hades sighed, running a hand through his hair and smiling tiredly over at the demigods. “Fine. There is a way,”
“We’ll do it!” Ari said, stepping up. “What is it, my Lord?”
“I need a soul in exchange of Joonhyuk—there needs to be a balance,” Hades sighed. “There are other ways but this is the guaranteed—fastest—way,”
Y/N turned over to her friends, who started to talk amongst themselves.
“Guys? What do we do?”
Ari started to tear up once more, and Bongjoo looked lost.
For the first time, the son of Athena was lost for words as his shoulders slumped.
“I-I don’t know,” Beomjae said silently.
“Look, I’m really sorry,” Hades said, frowning. “But that’s the way—even gods have rules to follow,”
Y/N screwed her eyes shut as she stepped forward more.
“I’ll do it,”
All heads snapped over to her.
As she opened her eyes, her gaze locked with Hades.
“If I do this—there’s a guarantee that Joonhyuk will survive, right?” Y/N asked.
Slowly, the god nodded.
“Yes, you have my word,”
“You swear?”
“I swear on the River Styx,”
There was a strike of thunder, sealing the deal.
Y/N closed her eyes and breathed deeply as she turned back to her friends.
Ari’s tears started pouring out as Beomjae gasped in shock.
“Y/N—“
“Bongjoo—make sure you three make your way up with Joonhyuk, alright?”
The boy nodded sadly.
“Beomjae—You are so smart,” Y/N smiled softly as she patted the younger’s hair. “And with you and Joonhyuk fighting side-by-side, you’ll win this,”
Beomjae only regarded the girl with soft, sad eyes.
“Ari,” Y/N started, taking the girl’s hands. “We may have had our differences—but I know you, and I know you love Joonhyuk. Can you tell him I love him, too?”
Ari sobbed harder as she launched herself on the girl.
When they pulled away, there was a hand that landed on Y/N’s shoulder.
The girl tensed up as she felt Hades’ tall presence behind her.
“I’ll take care of you, don’t worry,” Hades soothed before looking up at her companions. “Joonhyuk will be outside the throne room,”
As the other demigods bid their goodbyes and made their way out, Y/N turned around slowly to look over at the god.
“Lord Hades,” She said softly, bowing.
“No! No, none of that!” The god rushed, burning red as he shook his head fiercely. “And—uh, call me Soobin,”
“Soobin?”
“That’s my name,” The god nodded slowly. “Hades is just the title—but, uh, I’m Soobin,”
“Soobin,” Y/N mumbled, letting his name roll on her tongue before she looked back up at the god—boy—with a frown. “Shall I proceed to the Fields of Asphodel, then?”
“No,” Soobin said, smiling softly as he shook his head once more. “I’ll show you to your room upstairs.”
“Why?”
“Because I feel bad for you, for essentially keeping you here against your will,” Soobin shrugged, walking forward as Y/N followed behind him. “Letting you stay in the castle instead of being lost in the Fields is the least I can do—you technically aren’t dead, anyway.”
“If you really feel bad, you’d let me go back with my friends,”
The boy turned his head back, shooting the girl a sympathetic look.
“I’m really sorry, but you know I can’t do that—it’s either one of you or him. You were the one that wanted to stay,”
“Yeah,” Y/N pursed her lips as she looked out at the window they were passing—catching a quick glimpse of her former companions.
This time, there was another figure—a tall boy with brown hair—following them. Joonhyuk.
“I know,” Y/N sighed sadly as Soobin shot her a sad smile.
“I hope you at least like your room,” Soobin offered as he threw open a set of double-doors. “Take a look,”
Tumblr media
Y/N sat on the couch, uncomfortable as Soobin sat across from her—completely immersed on the novel he held in his hands.
“Big library,” Y/N squeaked out.
Soobin smiled as he set his book down.
“You didn’t have to say yes to accompanying me here if you were that uncomfortable being with me, you know,” Soobin said, eyes amused as he looked over at Y/N.
“No, no, it’s fine. I’m great!” Y/n said, as she reached out to take a random scroll of parchment nearby. “I’m just going to read this parchment!”
Soobin chuckled as he turned back to his book.
Y/N cleared her throat, wincing at her awkwardness as she unrolled her parchment—eyes scanning the words on the paper.
Today, I took a stroll on the beautiful gardens of the Underworld. I particularly loved the Scintilla blossoms and the Gumamelas. Strangely, there was a bush of white roses with golden outlines. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Maybe it was being grown for me?  I feel like he really is in love with me—despite what my family tells me. I do feel more and more endeared to Hades—Soobin. I grow more and more in love.
Persephone.
Y/N blinked as she let her hand run through the parchment.
“Persephone,” She mumbled.
“What was that?” Soobin asked, raising his head once more.
“Oh, nothing,” Y/N shook her head as she passed him the parchment. “Just—uh—read a little something,”
“Ah,” Soobin winced as he glanced at the handwriting. “Persephone.”
“You must really love her to start a whole flower garden for her, huh? And a new type of rose?” Y/N asked, tilting her head. “I want to be loved like that—I mean, minus the kidnapping—No offense.”
Soobin chuckled as he rolled the parchment once more.
“None taken, seeing as I didn’t grow a garden for Persephone, or make a new kind of rose for her,” Soobin shrugged. “or even kidnap her. I did none of those.”
“What?” Y/N blinked.
“Hm, how do I start?” Soobin smiled, adjusting his sitting on the couch. “I saved Persephone. I didn’t kidnap her,”
“But Demeter?”
“Demeter nags. She nags a lot,” Soobin snorted. “But no, I didn’t kidnap Persephone or anything—I never even married Persephone, or wanted to. I didn’t like her like that. I didn’t like anyone,”
Y/N pursed her lips as Soobin fiddled with his thumbs.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as the god narrated his story, laying himself and his history bare in front of the demigod.
“So, if that all didn’t happen—what exactly happened?”
“Well, I saved her—she was in an open field. There was a god rampaging that day, and he saw Persephone. Left alone, who knows what could happen to her?” Soobin shrugged. “She was a sweet kid and I was there anyways, so I figured—sure, why not? She did stay here for a while, I accommodated her though I kept telling her to go back to her mom in Olympus. She didn’t want to. It felt rude to kick her out, so I didn’t,”
“So, what gave Demeter the impression you kidnapped her?”
“I don’t know,” Soobin shrugged. “She just came down here and started calling me a kidnapper. Persephone didn’t defend me or anything,”
“Why did you make Persephone go back and forth, then?”
“Please,” Soobin snorted, smiling at the girl. “That’s not true—notice she’s not here? It’s drought season,”
Y/N nodded slowly, processing the information as Soobin cleared her throat.
“I never made her go back and forth—I never wanted to be with her. I never wanted to marry anyone, really,” Soobin said as he mumbled under his breath. “I don’t even know why I’m telling you this,”
“That’s got to suck—Why?” Y/N smiled sympathetically as she tilted her head.
Soobin cleared his throat as he shrugged.
“I—uh—think Aphrodite hates me? I’ve never loved anyone or had anyone fall in love with me,” He said. “It’s not like I don’t want to, it’s just that I haven’t felt it, so,”
“I don’t understand,” Y/N said—curiously taking the bait to peek into the life of a god. “gods fall in love all the time—you guys literally have sex all the time,”
Soobin laughed.
“Sex, sure—I had it,” Soobin smiled. “But never love. It’s scary—have you seen Orion, Medusa, Helen, Cleopatra?”
“Not all love stories end in tragedy, you know.” Y/N said, frowning as Soobin shrugged.
“My life is a tragedy—I’d be more surprised if my love wouldn’t be,”
As Soobin shot the girl a small smile and returned to his novel, Y/N had an epiphany—Hades was never the villain of the story.
Hades was just a victim of Olympus—thrown away and used as a scapegoat when he was just a kind and gentle creature too shy to defend himself from all the allegations thrown to him by the gods playing protagonist.
Hades—Soobin—was just the misunderstood outcast living under the shadow of Zeus and Poseidon.
It was her next to Joonhyuk—and Beomjae, Ari and Bongjoon.
Maybe, for the first time, she finally found somebody understood how she felt all these years.
It just so happened he was the god of the dead.
Tumblr media
Y/N laughed as Soobin scrunched his nose, grip tight on his fork.
“I’m not the god of death, okay? I’m god of the dead.” Soobin scoffed as he stabbed into a plate of ambrosia. “Death is Thanatos.”
Y/N shook her head as she took a bite of her eggs.
Soobin looked at her with a tilt of the head.
“You know—you’re technically a soul. You can eat ambrosia by the bulk now,” Soobin said, pointing over to the big serving plate of ambrosia in front of him.
“I—um—like the sense of humanity,” Y/N smiled, shaking her head.
Still confused, Soobin nodded.
“So, um, are you busy today?”
Y/N looked up, raising an eyebrow at Soobin.
“I mean I have nothing to do here, so—“
“Right, right,” Soobin said, coughing awkwardly. “I just—have a free day? I was thinking maybe I could show you around the castle.”
Y/N bit her lip, smiling softly.
“Yeah, Okay,” She said with a chuckle. “I’d love that.”
Tumblr media
After breakfast, Y/N found herself taking a stroll at the castle gardens with Soobin by her side.
This time the boy wore a loose, white, collared shirt, black slacks and black dress shoes—the whole ensemble fitting him just right.
His hair was styled delicately—black hair perfectly parted by his forehead.
He looked ethereal.
Y/N shook herself out of her stupor as Soobin bent down to admire the sunflowers growing out of a small patch in the gardens.
Soobin turned to Y/N waving her over, making her smile and press closer to the flowers and to Soobin.
“Sunflowers are actually my favorite,” Soobin confessed as he caressed the petals of the flower. “These are one of the first plants I had growing here. Don’t you think they look pretty?”
Y/N smiled as she reached out to the flowers herself.
“Pretty,” she agreed.
She wondered how these flowers, especially ones that thrived on as much sunlight as it could muster, prospered underground in the world of the dead, but as she looked over to Soobin who smiled fondly at his garden, she realized that she was with someone who could do the impossible.
Soobin looked over at her, chuckling as he stood up.
“What’s your favorite flower?”
“Roses,” Y/N answered without a beat.
A look of recognition flashed in Soobin’s eyes as he dragged her over to another area of the gardens.
“Remember when you read about the white and gold roses that I made?” Soobin smiled, presenting her with a rosebush in full-bloom.
“Oh,” She gasped. “Oh, wow.”
Soobin smiled, letting his hand wander over the bush and pluck a rose off—expertly cutting it off.
“Soobin—the thorns—“
“Here,” he smiled, giving it to the girl.
Y/N blinked as she looked over at the rose—no thorns.
“I—no thorns?”
“Nope,” Soobin smiled as Y/N reluctantly accepted the flower. “Nothing can hurt you here, Y/N, not even a flower—so don’t worry. I got you,”
Y/N smiled as she smelled the flower in her hands.
“It smells nice,” She commented as she looked around, smiling at the gardens. “It’s beautiful—everything is beautiful,”
Soobin smiled, letting his eyes dance on her face as he echoed her words.
“Beautiful,” Soobin said, his hands reaching out to brush Y/N’s hair away from her face. “You’re beautiful.”
Her shocked eyes snapped over to his equally wide ones, but none of them pulled away or made a move to stop the action.
Then, she smiled.
“You’re beautiful, too,”
It was dangerous—what she’s doing— growing fonder and fonder of the boy who swore up and down that was scared of falling in love.
It’s alright.
This feeling was probably nothing, anyways.
Tumblr media
Y/N smiled, leaning on the gates of hell as she chuckled.
Soobin groaned as he rolled his sleeves back to his elbows, wiping the sweat off of his forehead.
This time, the boy wore a loose grey hoodie and kept his hair undone.
He looked so, for a lack of a better word, boyfriend.
Y/N winced—she just called the god of dead so boyfriend.
That was disgusting.
Still, she couldn’t help but observe the male as he picked up a gigantic red ball and tutted at the three-headed dog.
“Cerberus. Here, buddy!” He whistled before throwing the ball up.
The dog—dogs?—yipped as they shot up for the right head take a bite of the ball.
It, then, leaned down to place the slobber-covered ball by Soobin’s feet.
Soobin frowned, looking back at Y/N.
“You know, I still can’t believe you convinced me to play ball with Cerb,” Soobin deadpanned as Y/N walked forward—black skirt trailing behind her as she wrapped her arm around Soobin’s.
“Aw, come on—you’re having fun, I can tell,” Y/N laughed as Soobin sighed, picking the ball back up.
Y/N laughed at the sight—the ball was the size of an extra-large-sized Yoga Ball that almost engulfed Soobin.
“You come here and throw it, then!” Soobin humphed, passing the ball over to the girl.
Y/N yelped as her hands made contact with the slobber-covered ball.
“Soobin—“ She started to whine before she looked up to see Cerberus’ three heads looking down at her with bared tongues and a furiously wagging tail.
“Uh,” Y/N started, stopping short when hands wrapped around hers and a body pressed on her back.
“Okay, just uh—Throw the ball up so he doesn’t crush the spirits coming into the underworld,“ Soobin guided her. “and then—uh—step out of the way so he doesn’t crush you too. It’s not fun,”
Y/N nodded stiffly as Soobin adjusted her grip on the ball, his hands falling down to her waist.
“Okay, and go,”
Y/N threw the ball up.
As Cerberus leaped up to catch the ball, Soobin’s hands gripped her waist and roughly pulled her back and out of Cerberus’ way.
Y/N yelped as she stumbled, falling back.
Soobin groaned as he fell down, Y/N’s weight crushing him.
“I—am so sorry—“ Y/N stuttered, turning around.
Immediately, both of them froze with bright red blushes.
Soobin’s hands rested on her hips as she sat directly on his lap and hovered over him.
Soobin gulped, eyes locked onto Y/N as she burned redder.
“Oh, um—“ Y/N rushed, pulling herself off of Soobin. “Sorry,”
“S’okay,” Soobin smiled softly, a fiery red blush on his cheeks as he gestured over to the chimera. “But—uh, look. Told you you’d get crushed if we didn’t move,”
Indeed, Cerberus was plopped down on the place where they previously stood—middle head happily gnawing on the red ball.
“Oh, that’s uh—great—“
Soobin and Y/N turned away from each other—the latter with a soft smile on her face.
He gets cuter and cuter by the day.

Soobin chuckled as Y/N propped her elbow on the dining table, staring fondly at the boy.
This time—the god wore a silk black shirt with a collar, then an expensive-looking black blazer over it.
Y/N had to hold her praises back because dear gods, he looked so good.
“So,” Y/N spoke. “Do you want to hang out today—“
Immediately, Soobin frowned sadly and sighed.
“I wish I could, but I have work,” Soobin shrugged sadly. “God of dead things to attend to,”
“Oh,” Y/N said dejectedly, looking back down on her plate.
“I’m really sorry,” Soobin frowned, reaching out to place his hand over hers and running his thumb over the back of her hand.
“No, no—it’s okay! It’s your job, of course you have to go,” Y/N shook her head, before her eyes widened with mischief. “but that doesn’t mean you have to go alone,”
Soobin raised his eyebrows in confusion as Y/N perked up.
“I can go with you—I promise I won’t be a distraction or something!”
“I don’t know,” Soobin said, scratching the back of his head as Y/N gasped.
“Come on, please?” Y/N pleaded, intertwining her hands with his and giving it a gentle squeeze. “It’ll be like take your daughter to work day—except I’m not your daughter and the work is, you know, death,”
Soobin laughed in amusement as he tilted his head at the girl.
“I don’t know, Y/N—You? My daughter?” Soobin snorted. “No, thanks,”
“What—I don’t have the daughter of Hades spunk?” Y/N scoffed in mock offense as she held a hand to her chest. “Frankly, I’m offended,”
“Do pray tell,” Soobin shot back, leaning his head on his free palm as he squeezed their intertwined hands. “Who’d be your mother, then?”
“No idea,” Y/N quipped as she looked up in thought. “Who?”
As he looked over at the girl, Soobin muttered under his breath unknowingly.
“How can I imagine you as my child when I keep seeing you as the mother of mine?” He mumbled.
The statement was not fallen onto deaf ears as Y/N shot her head over to Soobin.
The boy’s eyes were only trained on their intertwined hands.
Y/N chuckled awkwardly, blushing as Soobin realized that she heard him.
“Stop being cute,” Y/N giggled as Soobin burned red.
“Why did I just say that?” Soobin mumbled to himself once more.
“I can still hear you,” Y/N laughed, reaching out and brushing his hair off of his forehead. “I promise I’ll behave,”
Soobin sighed.
“Okay, but just because you asked me to!”

Hours later, Y/N and Soobin stood in the middle of a barren field with cloudy gray skies.
There were hazy white figures wandering around.
One of Y/N’s hands gripped Soobin’s hand, the other clutching on his sleeve as she looked around.
“What is this?” Y/N asked, eyes confused.
“This is the Hall of Judgement,” Soobin smiled, wrapping his arm around her figure. “Don’t be scared,”
“I’m not scared,” Y/N said, pressing herself closer to Soobin—making the boy smile. “Just, uh, don’t leave me,”
“Okay, follow me,” Soobin laughed as they neared a soul of a female girl in war-gear. “Hello,”
The soul flinched, turning around swiftly with a fierce glare.
“Who’s there?” The spirit demanded before looking at the two. “Wait—Y/N? Daughter of Zeus Y/N?”
“Aris?” Y/N asked, eyes wide as she pulled herself from Soobin. “You’re—“
“Where—You were missing?” Aris gasped.
“Aris, I— you’re in the Underworld,”
“Oh, the Under—Are you dead? Wait, am I dead?”
Y/N’s eyes turned sad as the girl gasped in realization.
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Soobin asked, stepping forward and letting a hand rest on Y/N’s lower back.
Y/N’s hands reached behind her back, clutching his as she smiled at him.
“And you are?” Aris’ challenging tone was back.
“Aris,” Y/N started gently. “This is Lord Hades—the god of the Underworld,”
Aris’ eyes widened as she gasped.
“I-It’s real—“ She said as she observed Soobin. “You’re—I really am dead,”
“I’m sorry, Aris,” Y/N sighed. “But what’s the last thing you remember?”
“Um,” Aris started, voice quivering as she gathered her thoughts. “I was—I was talking to Joonhyuk—“
“Joonhyuk, is he okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, he’s alive,” Aris said. “He, uh, told me he came back to finish the war and save us all,”
Y/N smiled gently as Soobin squeezed her hand.
“Okay,” Y/N said softly, urging Aris on. “So, you were talking to Joonhyuk? Then?”
“Oh, uh, we heard that, um,” Aris’ eyebrows furrowed as she worked hard to remember the details of her dead. “We heard there was a breach in our defenses over at the bridge—Cyclops attack, so I went there. It was a big flock. I led the army and next thing I know—I was on my way here,”
Soobin nodded softly as he leaned in and whispered to Y/N’s ear.
“I have to talk to the judges, would you be okay with her?”
“Yeah, Bin,” Y/N smiled softly as Soobin pulled away. “I’ll be fine,”
The boy shot her and the spirit a small smile before striding over to a large black tent.
“Y/N?” Aris asked, eyes turning confused. “Why did you call Lord Hades ‘Bin’?”
“Oh,” Y/N chuckled, realizing that not everyone was familiar with his real name. “That’s his nickname—he likes being called by his nickname,”
“Ah,” Aris nodded. “Well, are you here to be judged too?”
Y/N smacked her lips before shrugging.
“He told me I didn’t need to—I’m not really dead and I’m staying with him anyways,” Y/N said.
“With him?”
“His castle is so big—there’s so much rooms!”
Aris furrowed her eyebrows as Y/N’s eyes shifted back to the black tent—waiting for Soobin to exit.
“Y/N?” Aris asked, tone grave. “Why aren’t you fighting up there?”
Y/N’s eyebrow raised in confusion.
“What do you mean why am I—“ Y/N gasped in realization. “Do you guys not know—Do you all think I abandoned you?”
“Didn’t you?” Aris blinked in confusion.
“No—of course not!” Y/N shook her head rapidly. “In order to get Joonhyuk out of here and back to life, someone had to stay so the souls were balanced in the Underworld. A life for a life, so I gave up mine—so he can come back and fight for you all,”
“Oh,” Aris nodded slowly. “They—Beomjae, Bongjoo, Ari and Joonhyuk never told us. We figured you just up and left,”
“I-I didn’t,” Y/N’s eyes turned sad.
“Why are you staying with Hades, then?” Aris asked, crossing her arms before she gasped with wide eyes. “Is he—Did he kidnap you like he did Persephone? Is he—“
“No, he’s not like that!” Y/N said, sighing in frustration.
Her eyes wandered back over to the tent as Soobin exited, making a beeline for a nearby flock of child spirits with a smile.
The boy crouched down, eyes soft as he talked gently.
“I love being with him,” Y/N said, eyes soft as Soobin continued to converse with the children—reaching out and ruffling the hair of one. “He’s nice, kind, considerate, charming—“
Soobin looked over at Y/N and smiled, winking before he turned back to the kids with a chuckle.
Immediately, her heart pounded in her chest.
Gods, she was doomed.
Y/N cleared her throat before looking back at the girl.
“I’m happy to be here,”
“But it’s not exactly Olympus—“
“I know, and I’d rather be here with him,” Y/N said softly.
The girl flinched as a figure in a dark cloak approached them.
“Im Aris—Daughter of Ares, you must proceed to the Judgement Pavilion,” The figure spoke in a muffled voice.
“I—This is it,” Aris said softly, eyes downcast as Y/N nodded to her.
“Good luck, Aris,” Y/N mumbled, watching Aris shoot her a small smile as she followed the figure to the tent.
A hand landed on her waist, making her heart stutter as she looked up to see Soobin smile down at her—his figure towering over her.
“Hey,” he greeted as he looked over at Aris’ departing figure. “Good to go?”
“Yep, yeah,” Y/N nodded smiling up at him. “Come on, let’s go home,”
“Actually, let’s go on a walk,”
Tumblr media
Y/N gasped as Soobin pulled her towards River Styx.
“Come on, over here,” Soobin smiled as they walked by the river bank.
As the clear waters of the river flowed gently, a soft haze floated above it.
The haze contained hundreds of different artifacts streaming back and forth.
“I—I thought they said that the Styx was polluted because of the lost hopes and dreams and stuff?” Y/N asked as she marvelled at the sight.
Yeah,” Soobin pointed down at the water. “Some of the dreams fall down,”
Y/N looked down at the water just in time for a broken baseball bat to fall out of the haze and sink into the water.
“Oh,” Y/N winced.
She reached out to intertwine her hands with Soobin.
“I take a walk here sometimes, when I want to think,” Soobin softly smiled as they continued walking. “Seeing all these lost hopes and dreams remind me that I’m actually pretty fortunate to be where I am right now, even if I’m not doing such a good job as the god of the Underworld,”
Y/N frowned, squeezing his hand as she reached out and brushed her hand against the haze.
“Soob, you are doing amazing,” Y/N said smiling softly as her hand grasped on an object in the haze.
Immediately, her vision sparked—showing her a quick memory of a child forced to give up his dreams of being an actor to be a doctor.
“What did you see?” Soobin asked curiously as Y/N pulled her hand out of the haze to find a rusty Oscar Award. “Ah,”
Y/N sighed, releasing the award back to the haze.
“So, you see the memories, huh?”
Soobin nodded, tugging her along as he continued walking.
“When the memory is strong enough,” Soobin shrugged, smiling as Y/N continued to run her hand through the mist.
When her hand gripped on a small square item—she pulled it out.
It was a velvet box.
Soobin looked down at the box, stopping his walk as he opened his mouth and let out a soft ‘oh’.
Immediately, Y/N pried the box open and she was shot into a memory of a girl whose dream was to get married to the love of her life—but she wasn’t able to because he was a soldier that died fighting in a war.
“She said no?” Soobin said as Y/N returned from the memory, her thumb softly caressing the small diamond atop the rusting gold ring.
“He died,” Y/N mumbled softly as she closed the box sadly, returning it to the haze.
“Oh,” Soobin said, eyes downcast. “A lost love,”
Y/N nodded sadly as she looked back up at Soobin, who was silently observing the passing stream of lost hopes and dreams.
She can’t be like that girl with the lost love.
“Bin?”
“Hm?” He looked back down at her with a small smile. “What’s up?”
She’s got to take a chance.
Mustering all her courage, she inhaled softly and locked her gaze with him.
“I love you,” Y/N said firmly before her gaze wavered, looking back down. “Or like—I’m not really sure what love feels, so I can’t say for sure,”
Soobin blinked in confusion as Y/N gulped.
“Anyways,” Y/N nodded. “I like spending time with you, and everytime I look at you or talk to you, my heart just deadass wants to sprint out of my chest,”
Soobin blinked, body tense as Y/N ranted.
“Everytime you to hold my hand, or pull me close or brush my hair, I—I really want to kiss you and I literally just stop myself. It’s at that point where I’m really going crazy and if I don’t knew what you feel in the next hour, I’m going to lose my mind,” Y/N pleaded as she looked back up. “So, please, just say something so I know what to do with myself,”
Soobin only gaped—eyes shifting around speechless.
“Binnie?”
His mouth opened and closed in shock as he stood—unsure what to do.
His eyes flew behind her pulling her closer to his body to avoid the water of the Styx splashing on them as a person—a demigod, from what Soobin felt—stumbled into the Styx.
Y/N’s hands clutched his arms as she heard the pained screams of the demigod falling into the Styx.
When the screams silenced, Y/N softly pulled herself out of Soobin’s grasp.
The boy looked down at Y/N.
“Y/N,” he started softly.
“I should have known,” The girl only smiled softly, nodding.
“Wait, Y/N—“ Soobin said, reaching back to grasp her arm and frowning when it was pulled out of reach.
“No, it’s okay—You have a mess to clean, Lord Hades,” Y/N nodded.
Soobin’s eyes turned sad as he looked back down at the demigod underneath the Styx, running a hand over his face.
“Soobin,” Soobin said, looking over at Y/N. “You call me Soobin, remember?”
“Please don’t make me do something that will make me feel closer to you,” Y/N said, furrowing her eyebrows as she bowed. “I’ll make my way back to the castle, my Lord,”
Soobin can only watch as Y/N walked away from him.
Tumblr media
Soobin sighed in frustration, throwing his head back in exhaustion as Y/N didn’t appear for breakfast with him yet again.
One of the spirits serving him came out, refilling his glass of nectar.
“Where’s Y/N?” He asked softly.
“She ate her breakfast early, my Lord,” the soul replied.
Soobin furrowed his eyebrows as he set his fork down.
“I don’t understand—didn’t you say she ate at this time yesterday?” Soobin asked, growing frustrated.
“Yes, my Lord, but she changes her eating schedule often,” The soul replied, eyes downcast as she bowed in apology.
Soobin calmed himself down, breathing deeply.
“I-I see, I’m sorry, thanks,” Soobin ran down his face as he stood up. “I’m done eating,”
The souls serving him bowed and started to clean up as he left the dining area.
It’s been a week since he last saw any trace of Y/N—much less heard.
He missed her.
He wouldn’t admit it, but Soobin even dressed up today—remembering how Y/N once mentioned she liked it when he wore clothes that made him look more teenaged liked his face and not “a half-dead CEO”.
Soobin sighed, clutching the ends of his black windbreaker as he stopped in front of Y/N’s bedroom door.
He never made his way over to here, no matter how much he wanted to.
He wanted to give her space—she obviously didn’t want to see him.
In truth, he never replied to her because he didn’t know what to say.
He never thought about whether or not he was in love with her to be honest—he just wanted to be with her.
With that thought in mind, he nodded to himself and cleared his throat.
He placed a soft knock on the bedroom door and waited.
There was no answer.
He tried again.
No answer.
He sighed again, running a hand through his hair.
Maybe today’s not a good day.
As he turned to make his way out, his ears heard the distinct barks of Cerberus—along with a laugh that was all-too-familiar to him.
He made his way over to the nearby window, looking down to see Y/N laugh as she played with Cerberus.
With a smile, he made his way down—leaning at the door as he watched Y/N pat one of Cerberus’ heads as the other snuggled her and the last one chewed on their ball.
Y/N hummed as she scratched the back of the dog head’s ear.
“I do, I do like Soobin,” The girl ranted. “But like, I’m stupid, you know? He’s a god—a cute god, which is way worse,”
Y/N sighed as the dog tilted its right head.
“Like, he told me he’s never even fallen in love before—at all—so what makes me think I’m better than Persephone, right?” Y/N snorted. “Like I’m in way over my head. Persephone—really?”
Soobin pursed his lips, exhaling slowly as Y/N frowned to herself.
“I mean if he didn’t fall in love with Persephone—fat chance of falling in love with me, right?” Y/N cooed as Cerberus’ right head barked. “You didn’t have to agree,”
“Y/N,” Soobin said, walking forward.
Y/N flinched, wincing as she turned over to Soobin.
“You didn’t hear all of that, right?” Y/N said, clutching the skirt of her dress.
Her hair was down in pretty curls—she was dressed in a long, flowy, white dress.
Soobin only smiled softly as he looked over at her.
She looked beautiful.
“Can we talk?”
At Y/N soft nod, he turned back to lead her to the gardens—smiling softly at her soft cursing.
As soon as they stopped by the rose bush, Y/N sighed.
“You know, this is the part where you break up with me,” Y/N said, her hands tracing the gold outlines of the petal of a nearby rose. “but since we’re like, not dating or involved in any way at all, I’m assuming this means your’e kicking me out of the castle to the Fields of Asphodel—or the Hall of Judgement or something,”
Y/N bit her lip as she looked over to Soobin, who only put his hands in his pockets with a smile.
God, she hated that he looked so good even when he was booting her out.
“If that’s the case, can I like change into comfier clothes before you cast me into eternal damnation or something?” Y/N asked, chuckling nervously.
Her nervous smile fell as Soobin soflty shook his head.
Y/N sighed, screwing her eyes shut as she fiddled with her thumbs.
“I messed up, didn’t I?” Y/N said, scratching the back of her neck.
She looked back up at the god, who only smiled wider.
She hated how her heart still pounded at the fact that he was smiling at her.
Y/N cleared her throat as she nodded.
“Well then, I’ll—uh—escort myself to the Fields. I know the way,” Y/N said with a deep breath. “Uh, thank you—for taking care of me even for a short while. Sorry I screwed things up,”
She turned to leave, biting her lip as she felt tears spring up to her eyes.
She swallowed down the lump in her throat as she turned back to Soobin.
“Uh, since I’m here, I just—I wanna tell you that I’m angry at myself for falling in love with you, but there’s not a thing that I regret from that,” Y/N said, sighing as she smiled over at him and tried her best to hold her tears at bay.
Soobin’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.
“I’m not going to lie—I still love you. I think even more than i did when I told you the first time, and I’m grateful to have spent all these moments with you and for having met the man behind ‘Hades, the god of the dead’ title,” Y/N continued, gathering her thoughts as she fiddled with her thumbs. “And, um, Olympus is missing out of you, because you’re so perfect!”
Soobin’s smiled, eyebrows raising in surprise.
“And, I hope whatever you do or get up to in the future—you’d be okay, and happy,” Y/N said, nodding her head. “Because, the thought of you being sad makes me sad—though, obviously you wouldn’t care about that,”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as her mind snapped into attention at Soobin’s lack of response.
She nodded to herself, pursing her lips.
“Yeah, okay, I’m saying too much,” She turned abruptly. “I’m gonna go now,”
As she took a step forward, a hand grasped onto her wrist to pull her back.
She stumbled, letting her body follow as she was turned around.
Before she could say or do anything, she felt his soft lips crash on hers.
As soon as she felt him clutch her waist, Y/N swore she fell in love with him all over again.
Her heart skipped a beat as she let her hands reach up to run through his hair, eyes falling closed as she melted into him.
It was like the world could melt and break down all around her, but all that would matter to her was Soobin’s lips on hers.
Soobin smiled as he pulled away, leaning his forehead on hers with a soft chuckle.
Y/N blinked—stuck in a daze.
“Wha—“ Y/N started, looking up at him. “What was that?”
Soobin laughed, leaning back in and brushing his nose with hers.
“I love you too, genius,”
“Oh,” Y/N’s eyes widened as Soobin brushed her hair away from her face. “Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed we spent a whole week skirting around each other—that was so much wasted time,”
Y/N’s eyes softened as she sighed, brushing her lips on his and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I’m sorry,”
“It’s okay,” Soobin smiled. “We have all the time in the world to just—stay here,”
“Here?”
“Here with you,” Soobin nodded. “When I’m with you I feel nothing—I’m not the Lord of the dead, or Hades, or some weird godly outcast. I’m just Soobin. I feel nothing but you,”
Y/N breathed deeply, closing her eyes.
“You know,” she started. “When I told you I loved you I really wasn’t expecting you to love me back, so if you’re just forcing yourself to love me back then I—“
“I’m not,” Soobin said, shaking his head as he let his hands fall down to grip her waist again. “Look at me, Y/N,”
The girl opened her eyes, frowning as she locked gazes with Soobin.
“I’m not forcing myself to love you because it’s not hard to fall in love with you, okay? And I really do feel so lucky because you chose to fall in love with me,” Soobin said, hand softly lifting her chin and lips softly placing a peck on hers. “You are extra-ordinary, and I can’t believe you fell in love with me even if you’re stuck here like some prisoner—“
“Soobin, I don’t feel trapped here,” Y/N smiled, hands reaching up to cup his face. “Not when I’m with you,”
Soobin smiled happily, chuckling as he leaned back down to press another kiss on Y/N’s lips.
Tumblr media
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as a group of Empousa stood in the throne room in front them.
Soobin, sitting on his throne next to her, rubbed his forehead in stress as the Empousai listed their demands.
He reached out, grabbing Y/N hands and setting it on his lap—squeezing it to relieve his stress as he looked back up at the Empousai.
“You know you’re in Tartarus for a reason, right?” Soobin said with a sigh.
The leader of the Empousai scoffed.
“We believe we are misjudged,” the empousa sniffed. “we demand that all empousa be taken out of Tartarus—immediately,”
Soobin groaned, head falling back on his throat as he grumbled.
“Baby, my head hurts,” he whispered over to Y/N.
The girl shot him a sympathetic smile—squeezing his hand as she turned to the Empousai.
“You’ve killed demigods, correct?”
“For a good cause!”
“No,” Y/N shook her head as Soobin looked over at her. “You killed them to take over the world—That’s called ill-intent. No matter how you spin this narrative, it’s called murder,”
“No, we are doing it for the greater good—Olympus knows nothing!”
Soobin blinked in wonder as Y/N’s gaze turned fierce, standing up and sauntering over to the unruly monster.
“As far as I’m concerned, you’re dead. If I were you, I’d go back to Tartarus, accept I’m a monster, take my punishment, and do better when I’m reborn,” Y/N hissed at the Empousai before turning around and walking back over to Soobin. “Take these demons back to where they belong,”
At Soobin’s affirmative nod, the spirits dragged the Empousai back to Tartarus—nothing but their shrill screams to signify they were ever there.
“That was something,” Soobin blinked over at Y/N as she chuckled, sitting in his lap and kissing his lips.
“You know I never butt in, but I’ve seen how stressed out you were these past few weeks over them—I had to do something,” Y/N smiled as she leaned her head on his shoulder. “Besides, they’re like the bratty cheerleaders that were mean to be in middle school. Sweet revenge,”
Soobin chuckled, laying a soft kiss on her temple.
Y/N pulled away and smiled at Soobin as he caressed her cheeks—eyes soft as he gazed at the girl.
“What?” Y/N asked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like what?”
“Like you had a mind-blowing realization about me,” Y/N narrowed her eyes.
“Because I did?”
“What?”
“I want to marry you,” Soobin quipped, smile widening at her shocked expression. “Surprised?”
Y/N blinked before scoffing, punching his arm.
“Stop making fun of me,”
“I’m not kidding,” Soobin laughed, letting his hands run through her hair and his forehead attach to hers. “I’ve been thinking it over for weeks—I want to marry you,”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as she clambered off of Soobin, crossing her arms.
“Bin—Getting married is serious, okay? You’re a god—you can’t just marry whoever you want,” Y/N said. “Your wife is going to be queen of the Underworld,”
“Don’t you want to?”
Y/N’s head snapped up to Soobin, who also stood up and walked over to her—hands buried in his pockets as he tilted his head at her.
“Don’t want to what?” Y/N asked.
“Get married,”
“With you? It’s a god damn dream come true,” Y/N chuckled as Soobin smiled, taking her hand. “But I’m not fit to be the queen,”
“Yeah, you are,” Soobin snorted. “with how you handled those Empousai? I’d say you’re perfect already,”
“Binnie, you’re just saying that,” Y/N rolled her eyes as Soobin shook his head.
“You’re already perfect, Y/N,” Soobin said, smiling as he pulled a ring out of his pocket and fell down to his knees.
Y/N blinked in surprise—not even a sound or a peep or any movement from her as her eyes followed Soobin.
“I was supposed to plan this whole thing in the gardens, propose to you the greek way by tossing you an apple and then do it the modern way with romantic lights and a ring and everything—but I couldn’t wait,” Soobin shook his head, taking her hand and squeezing it. “Please, marry me,”
Y/N pressed her hands to her mouth as she gasped.
“I’d be the king and you’d be the queen—and we’d be so in love and we’ll have a lot of godly kids,” Soobin chuckled as Y/N laughed, tears welling up in her eyes. “and we’ll run Underworld—just you and me together, like it’ll always be,”
Y/N bit her lip, holding back her smile as she cleared her throat.
“Are you sure you want this?”
“More than anything in the world,”
“Then, yes.”
Soobin smiled, an emotional laugh bubbling out of his lips as he slipped the ring excitedly on her finger.
Y/N smiled as she marvelled at it, Soobin standing up and pulling her close to him.
“I’m going to marry you,”
Y/N giggled, leaning forward and placing a deep kiss on his lips.
Soobin laughed through the kiss, hands desperately clutching on her hips as he pulled away.
“My queen,” he whispered against her lips.
Tumblr media
Three months later, Y/N and Soobin giggled amongst themselves as they talked about everything and nothing.
Their hands were intertwined, Y/N’s diamond ring glinting in the firelight as the book Soobin was reading was thrown haphazardly at the side.
“What’s the first thing you’ll do when we get married?”
“Consummate it,” Soobin snorted, bursting out with laughter as Y/N slammed a hand down his chest.
“We already did, doofus!”
“Well, we can do it again,” Soobin said, wiggling his eyebrows. “Wanna try tonight?”
“You are insane—“
The couple was interrupted as loud knocks sounded on the door.
“Come in,”
“Lord Hades, my lady,” The spirit stuttered as it bowed. “An iris message appeared at the throne room,”
Y/N rose up slowly, furrowing her eyebrows at the spirit.
“An iris message? Throne room?”
Soobin stood up, frowning as he followed the woman down to the said room—gaping at the rainbow in the middle of the room.
“Oh, wow, it’s been a long time since I saw one of these in the throne room,” Soobin commented as he neared the message.
“It happens?”
“Yeah,” Soobin shrugged. “Last time it happened was Hercules, I think,”
“That’s amazing,” Y/N smiled as she peered into the rainbow.
She gasped as the face of a tall figure manifested—features all-too-familiar.
“Joonhyuk?”
“Y/N!” Joonhyuk screamed as he slammed his hands on the desk in front of him in relief. “Are you okay?”
“I’m good,” Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. “How—It’s been months, why are you only calling me now?”
“The war isn’t over yet, Y/N,”
“It’s not?”
Beomjae popped up next to Y/N with a worried face.
“Y/N, we cracked the prophecy,” He said. “You have to get up here,”
Soobin walked over, a soft frown on his face as his hand rested on Y/N’s waist.
Y/N looked up at him, frowning.
“I can’t. I have to stay with Soobin—Hades, I mean,” Y/N shook her head. “I exchanged my soul for yours, remember?”
Joonhyuk’s eyes turned worried as he glanced at the boy next to Y/N, hand tightly wrapped around her torso as he frowned.
Y/N reached up, softly cupping his hand and squeezing it.
“Is that Hades?” Another voice asked from the iris message.
Y/N paid no mind as she turned, looking over at Soobin.
“Bin—“
“I sort of knew it,” Soobin whispered as he pressed a kiss on her forehead. “I just wish it wasn’t this soon,”
“Baby,” Y/N said, pulling away and cupping his hands. “what are you talking about?”
Soobin only sighed as Joonhyuk and Beomjae gaped, Ari appearing next to them equally as shocked.
“Baby?” Ari asked in surprise.
“You and Hades?” Beomjae asked as Joonhyuk sighed, shaking his head.
“There’s no time—Y/N you have to leave him. You’re the only one that can save us,” Joonhyuk said. “Go now,”
Beomjae turned to Joonhyuk with worried eyes.
“Why me?”
“It’s what the prophecy said,” Joonhyuk said in frustration. “and there’s a magic barrier around the chains—no one can break it but you, just like the prophecy said. So, come here now,”
“Why?”
“If you break it the gods can wake up to save us—why do you have so many questions?” Joonhyuk said, eyes leaking tears as he almost cried in exhaustion. “Y/N, please. This is our one shot,”
Y/N bit her lip as she turned back to Soobin, burying her head on his chest.
“No,”
Soobin’s eyes widened as he looked down at the girl.
“What?”
“Y/N!” Joonhyuk called, but the girl only waved her hand through the message to disconnect the call.
There was a moment of silence, before one of them moved.
Soobin’s heart panged as she felt Y/N’s shoulders shake with sobs against him.
“Baby,” Soobin sighed, gently pushing her away and wiping her tears. “I think you know what has to happen,”
Y/N shook her head.
“No,” She whispered. “I don’t want to,”
“Babe,”
“I’m not going, Soobin,” she said, body shaking as she sobbed even harder.
Soobin sighed, smiling sadly as he let his eyes take her in.
“You know,” Soobin said, brushing hair away from her face. “I was fixing our wedding already,”
Y/N looked up at him, tear-stained eyes drinking him in for all it’s worth.
“Bin,”
The boy bit his lip as he squeezed her hands softly.
Y/N closed her eyes as tears start to silently roll out of Soobin’s eyes.
“I was dreaming that we’d get married soon, and then I’d be the king, and you would be the queen—the most beautiful goddess queen to ever exist,” Soobin said, holding back the quivering of his voice as he cleared his throat. “We’d have a lot of children playing around, and it’s just you and me for eternity,”
Y/N opened her eyes cupping his face.
“Soobin, Soobin, look at me,” she mumbled as she lined her gaze with his. “There has to be another way,”
“It’s the prophecy—there’s no other way,” Soobin shook his head, tears now free-flowing. “It has to be you,”
Y/N cursed, leaning her forehead on his.
“I—I can just not do it,” Y/N said. “You won’t get affected, you’re not in Olympus. We can just stay here, they don’t deserve to be saved,”
Soobin sighed.
“Baby,”
“They pushed you away, Bin,” Y/N said, cupping his face. “They made you an outcast, they made everyone think you’re evil—“
“Y/N, they’re my family and yours,” Soobin said, eyes pained as he breathed. “Baby, you have to go,”
Y/N’s eyes shook as her lower lip quivered.
“B-But I love you,”
“I know,” Soobin said, smiling as he cried. “And I love you too—but you know you have to go,”
Y/N nodded her head, as she sobbed.
“Soobin,” Y/N started. “I love you—more than anyone else I’ve ever loved before, more than anything I’ve ever loved my whole life,”
Soobin smiled, leaning forward and pressing a harsh kiss on her lips.
Tears flowed out of both of their eyes as their hands intertwined.
Slowly, Soobin pulled away with a smile.
“When you die, I’ll be there—for you,” Soobin said, nodding to himself. “I’m going to pick you up myself, and if you still want me, we’re finally going to get married. You’re going to wear a beautiful white wedding dress. You’re finally going to be the queen and we’re going to fall in love all over again—and we’re going to have a lot of kids and we’re gonna run the underworld together, okay?”
Y/N bit her lip, nodding.
“Okay,” she said, caressing his cheek. “Wait for me,”
“I will—no matter how long it takes,” Soobin said, pressing another desperate kiss on her lips as he pulled away. “Remember that I will always love you. Now go, and don’t look back,”
Y/N let herself look at him one last time before turning her back.
Not even when she heard him collapse to the floor, sobbing.
Tumblr media
With tear streaks on her face, Y/N found herself stumbling into the tall building and into the elevator to the top floor.
Y/N bit her lip as she held back her tears, hands clutching her torso as she cried.
As soon as the elevator doors ring open, she faced Beomjae, Joonhyuck, Bongjoo and Ari at near the entrance to the border—surprised to see her.
“Y/N,” Joonhyuk started.
Y/N promptly ignored her as she marched forward, past the barrier and turning the key shoved inside the chain.
There was a bright shimmer as the chains dissolved.
Seconds later, there was the large crack of thunder.
After a few minutes, the entrance to Olympus opened—Y/N being met with her own father.
“Joonhyuk,” Zeus boomed as he neared his son. “you have saved us all. The war has finished,”
Immediately, Y/N broke to a loud sob—falling into a heap on the floor as she clutched her stomach.
“There, there, daughter,” Zeus soothed. “I know it’s been hard, but the way is over—we can celebrate!”
Y/N didn’t reply, crying harder as her hands tightened on her stomach.
Hera observed the girl sadly.
“This war is not without casualty,” Hera commented. “I can feel the grief of a mother who lost her child,”
At those words, Y/N cried harder as she curled up.
“Take me back,” Y/N mumbled. “Bring it back,”
“She’s—“ Joonhyuk said, eyes widening in horror as Y/N grieved.
“Yes, why would you think she broke through the barrier, child?” Hera explained. “Only a god could—a god like her child, who gave up it’s spirit and godly essence to his mother to save you all,”
“We killed a baby,” Ari gasped, sitting next to Y/N. “Your baby with Hades—I’m sorry,”
“Is she a goddess?” Joonhyuk asked, eyes trained on his sister.
“Not yet,” Hera hummed. “but she is promised,”
Joonhyuk frowned, looking over at Hera—eyes burning in recognition.
“Epirus—“ Beomjae gasped as he reached the same conclusion as Joonhyuk. “This is the Phyrric War all over again,”
“King Phyrrus of Epirus—the man who sacrificed too much to win,” Hera nodded grimly. “Your sister sacrificed everything to win this war—her love, her happiness, her husband and her child. Congratulations on your win, boys,”
Hera nodded at the two as he neared Ari and Y/N, laying a soothing hand on her shoulder as Artemis and Aphrodite approached the grieving girl.
Joonhyuk’s sad eyes locked onto his sister.
A win at much too high a cost.
Tumblr media
70 years later, a bed-ridden 90 year-old Y/N lay in bed—eyes trained on her great-grand daughter with a smile.
“Grandma!” The kid bounced as she held up her book.
Y/N sighed softly as the kid clambered up the bed.
This child looked so much like Ari.
Y/N smiled fondly at the memory of the late daughter of Aphrodite.
Right after the war—Ari never left her side, having found out about her and Soobin.
The girl was obsessed with her tragic love.
While Y/N never married or fell in love with someone else ever again, she was happy to have witnessed Ari and Joonhyuk grow as a couple—and soon, parents to a healthy baby boy—Donghwa.
That boy grew up to have a daughter—Bongsoo, named after Ari’s other best friend and Donghwa’s uncle, Bongjoo.
Said daughter bounced her way into her grandma-aunt’s frail arms.
“Bongsoo,” Jiyong, Donghwan’s wife, chastised the kid. “I told you to be careful around grandma,”
“Grandma, I’ve been reading!” The kid exclaimed—waving her book. “It’s about Hades,”
At the mention of the god, Y/N perked up—eyes softening with love as she turned over to the girl.
“What about him?”
The kid made a fart noise, crossing her arms.
“He sucks—he kidnapped Persephone,” The kid said.
By the doorway, Donghwa arrived to watch with a sad smile—having known of his aunt’s story with Hades.
“Bongsoo,” Donghwa said softly. “Don’t say that,”
“But he did!” Bongsoo argued.
Y/N tutted her tongue as she softly patted the area beside her.
“Let me tell you about Hades, a good man and a good god who never kidnapped Persephone and was never in love with Persephone,” Y/N said as Bongsoo settled on the spot next to her.
“But, grandma, the book said so!”
“Let me tell you the real story,” Y/N smiled softly as Jiyong wrapped her hand around Donghwon, listening in.
“Once, there was a big, big war. There was a boy that wanted to finish it, but then he died. So, his friends and his sister went down to the Underworld, but Hades said that he can’t come back to life,” Y/N started.
“But why?”
“Because there are rules, little one,” Y/N smiled, poking the girl’s nose. “There has to be a soul that stays to make sure that there was balance in the world, so the hero’s sister stayed with Hades instead so the hero can go save the world!”
“Wow,” The child gaped.
“At first she was scared of him, but then he was so kind and gentle—she fell in love with him and he fell in love with her. Soon, she was going to be married with her and she was going to have a baby,” Y/N narrated, straight from her memory as the thought of Soobin and her lost child resurfaced in her frail, fragile heart.
“Then what happened?”
“Well, Bongsoo, one day the girl found out that she had to leave him because she needed to save the world too. Her baby died while saving the world. Until now, she still thinks about him—and she always wishes that Hades thinks about her too because she loves him so much,”
“Oh,” Bongsoo pouted. “Is the girl still alive?”
“No,”
“Do you know her grandma?”
“Yes,”
Donghwa smiled in sadness as his aunt’s eyes sparkled.
“Grandma, you do?” Bongsoo gasped. “Can you tell her that I’m sorry for judging Hades, and I hope she gets her happy ending, and get married to Hades soon,”
“Of course,” Y/N smiled softly as she urged the child to her mother. “she says to go eat some dinner,”
“Okay!” Bongsoo squealed as she made her way out of the room followed by her mother, leaving Donghwa.
“Auntie,” Donghwa started as he walked over. “You didn’t have to do all that,”
“You know how much I’d defend him—of course, I had to,” Y/N hummed, closing her eyes.
“Alright, well, I’ll go get dinner,” The man sighed, kissing her forehead. “I’ll be back to feed you afterwards,”
Y/N didn’t reply, turning sleepier and sleepier as Donghwa left.
She closed her eyes.
——
It feels weird.
For once, Y/N felt no pain in any part of her body as she shot up abruptly.
No pain in her back, head, feet, waist—nothing.
Y/N lifted her hands in wonder to gasp as the diamond ring on her finger—Soobin’s ring—glistened under the florescent lights.
Another detail she also noticed was the lack of wrinkles on her hand—just like it used to when she was young.
When she was—
Y/N stumbled over to the vanity, gasping and grasping her face as she only saw a hazy figure on the mirror.
It was her—she was almost transparent to the fact that she almost looked like mist.
She then realized she was wearing something too puffy—this wasn’t her regular pajamas.
No, she was wearing a white ballgown with diamonds encrusted at the bodice—a wedding gown.
Her hair was styled neatly, a ring of her favorite white and gold roses from Soobin’s garden embedded with beautiful jewels sat on top of her head.
Even her shoes were jewel-encrusted—the platform heels felt so light, yet she can see the diamonds glinting at the straps and the heels.
Y/N turned, gasping as she saw a body on the bed—her dead, 90 year-old body.
She was dead—she was dead, and wearing a wedding gown.
She felt expensive, regal.
Like a queen.
Picking up her dress as she realized it, Y/N bolted out of her room—stopping short at the dining table to smile at her blissfully unaware family as they dined.
They’ll be alright.
Y/N smiled as she nodded to herself, continuing her way out of the house.
She saved the world—it was finally her time to be happy.
As soon as she stumbled onto the front porch, her eyes trailed over to a tall figure wearing a tuxedo at the end of the driveway.
The man was tall—too tall for his own good as he clumsily rocked back and forth on his heels.
His black hair gently swept around with the summer breeze as he fawned over the rose bush that Jiyong carefully tended to.
Y/N walked over slowly, heart pumping fast as she smiled delicately.
She drank in the first sight of him she’s seen in 70 years.
“I didn’t know Thanatos wore tuxedos now,” Y/N hummed.
The figure only tensed slightly, before there was a familiar laugh.
He turned around, brown eyes softly landing on her as he shot her a smile.
“Nope, but I’ll tell him it’s a good look,” Soobin said, eyes raking down at her figure with a soft smile. “You look beautiful,”
Y/N laughed, tears pouring out of her eyes as she reached out to kiss him—tears pouring out of her eyes as they shared their first kiss in seven decades.
The first kiss for the eternity to come.
Soobin’s hands ran through her hair as he kissed her back, a smile permanently etched in his lips as he pulled away.
“I’m never letting you go again,”
“I’m never, ever, going to go away,” Y/N said, smiling happily.
Her smile dropped as Soobin’s hand trailed lightly over her stomach.
She smiled sadly, hands reaching down to bring his hand to her lips.
“Let’s go,” Y/N said, smiling as she tugged him lightly to place a soft peck on his lips. “I believe we have a wedding to get to,”
Soobin smiled, laughing as he nodded.
“Okay,”
Finally, he got his happy ending.

“This Isn’t Love” - Edward Cullen x Reader
Tumblr media
Request:  Okay let’s hurt Edward feelings, we all know he was toxic and Bella fell into it which then again she’s toxic too sooo, how about a writing where Edward is doing the same thing he did to reader and they snap at him calling him out on his shit about how it’s not okay to keep her away from her friends and family and they get into argument and it comes to the point where she tells him to leave and until he changes himself to stay away from her whether or not they make up is up to you! Go crazy😤
Reader leaves Edward and ends up with mystery character
just a heads up for you all
I laid in my bed, staring at the ceiling. Wondering how my life turned into what it was.
The stress of Edward’s constant overprotective, and seemingly obsessive and controlling, state was growing to be too much. The infatuation and love I had for him at the beginning of our relationship was fading as things progressed.
After he left me for months, I went all the way to Italy to save him. I faced the Volturi head on, just to save his life. I still loved him, but while he was gone I was able to spend time with my best friends at La Push-- something he wouldn’t ever let me do. He said they were “dangerous” now.
Whatever that meant, I didn’t care. Edward wouldn’t let me see anyone except for him, my family, or his family. I loved and adored the way his family treated me, but it was just all too much.
While Edward was gone, taking a piece of my heart with him, I spent a lot of time in isolation. I didn’t feel real anymore, nothing did. Until my dad told me to go down to La Push and hang out with my old friends. While I missed everyone, it almost felt scary at first. I was going to see all my friends, and my childhood crush that ran well into my teens, until Edward came along. Thankfully, Edward not being able to read my mind helped greatly, he didn’t need another reason to berate them. For quite some time, I never understood what set them all so apart from each other, what caused hatred for each other to run through their veins.
I later learned that all of the Quileute legends that Billy spoke about were real-- it was all real. After Harry Clearwater passed away, I unfortunately never got to see Leah anymore after the funeral, but something about her was off. She looked like she was about to burst at any moment and left in a worse mood than she entered with. Even Seth, the ball of sunshine himself. While I knew they were devastated at the passing of their father, I knew deep down that wasn’t it. They were going to phase.
But right after the funeral, I had to save Edward from exposing himself in Volterra, killing himself in the process. Alice saw me die when I tried cliff jumping with Paul and Jared, not realizing that they saved me from drowning. I guess they couldn’t be seen in her visions. Alas, it was too late when Alice visited me to see if I was alive, Rosalie already told Edward that I had died, Jacob then confirming it at my house without my knowledge.
Jacob begged me not to leave, but I couldn’t let someone I had loved so much die, especially when it was at my expense. And with that, Alice and I were off, leaving a disappointed Jacob standing in the road.
Going to Volterra was an absolutely insane trip. I never felt so many people in one room that wanted to kill me. After having us all threatened, facing some assault on Edward’s end, things seemed to be okay. For just a little bit.
Edward forbade me to see Jacob, never allowing me to go to La Push to hang out with my fun-loving friends. I missed wrestling with Paul, talking about cars with Jake and Embry, and most of all laughing at all the dumbasses with my best friend Leah. I haven’t seen them in months. I missed them all so much.
Jacob, my best friend since childhood. I loved hanging out with him and all of his friends while it lasted. When we were kids, life was great. Before I wasn’t allowed to see them, I had more fun than I ever thought possible. His friends even brought me a great joy, especially one I had grown my surprising crush on.
My feelings for Edward dwindling by the moment, feeling more like an object than a girlfriend. While I did love him intensely for the beginning of our relationship, his leaving and Volturi stunt created an enormous wedge in the relationship. I was sick of feeling controlled, I was sick of what we had become. I was no longer my own person anymore, every move of mine was watched-- granted it was for my own protection. The way he looks at me is obsessive, I was no longer lustfully blinded. I needed to end my relationship with Edward, I just didn’t know how. Was I bound to be with him forever? Was I bound to become a vampire after the Volturi’s threats? I was no longer sure. One thing I knew for certain, I was no longer in love with Edward for months. Something had to give.
I got up, looking at the clock next to my bed. Seeing it to be 10:00. I decided that I could do whatever I wanted to do. I was my own person, I could do what I wanted.
I walk out my front door and go to start my car, only for it not to work.
I try again, and no avail.
I heard a thump and suddenly Edward is next to me in my car.
“Please, it isn’t safe.” He murmurs.
“They would never hurt me. Wait, did you do this to my car?” I ask, getting louder by the second.
“I’m just trying to prot-”
“You are not trying to protect me. You’re controlling me!” I interrupt him.
“(Y/N), I can’t handle not knowing where you are. I need to know what you’re doing, I can’t protect you there.” He says in a disheveled tone.
“Edward, you don’t need to. They’ll protect me, none of them would ever hurt me. Ever. Matter of fact, they never up and left me when an inconvenience occurs. None of them try to control every single thing I do. They respect me as my own person. I’m not an object to them.”
“(Y/N), I love you.” He whispers.
“Don’t keep doing this to me. I can’t handle this anymore. This… this is too much. You took it too far. You don’t love me, this isn’t love.” I whisper.
“Don’t say that, you know I only do this to protect you.”
“You’re manipulating me! I haven’t been allowed to contact my friends for months. I haven’t been able to see anyone except for you and who you let me. I don’t want this. I don’t want you anymore. This isn’t love, this isn’t what I fell in love with.” I say powerfully.
“(Y/N), I can change.”
“No, you can’t. You won’t. You’ve said that before, you don’t mean it. I can’t do this anymore. I don’t want to.” I look into his eyes sternly, watching his eyes fill with rage, though his face mimicking one of despair.
“(Y/N), I won’t leave unless you tell me to.” He begs.
“Leave, Edward. Don’t come back.” I whisper.
He nods his head angrily.
“Don’t be surprised if you never see me again. I don’t even know why you ever came to Volterra to save me.” He spits, walking out of my car.
I lay my head against the steering wheel, finally feeling free.
Free to do what I want. I am myself once again.
I get out of my car, shaking slightly, and walk over to the front of my car.
I lift up the hood and see that Edward simply disconnected the battery.
“What an asshole.” I mutter to myself.
I connect the battery, thanking all the time I’ve spent in Jacob’s garage for teaching me more about cars than I ever thought I would care to know.
I got back into my car and drove to Sam Uley’s, knowing that I would be guaranteed to find some of the pack there, if not all of them.
I get out of my car and begin walking to the small house, hoping to see any of them.
I knock on the door, seeing the light peek through the door window.
Emily opens the door, smiling at me.
“Long time, no see.”
“I missed you guys.” My lip begins to quiver.
“Oh honey, come in.” She pulls me into the house, wrapping me in a tight hug.
I begin to sob, not realizing nor caring who else was in the room.
“(Y/N), what happened? Is everything okay?” Seth asks, running up to me.
I look into his warm brown eyes, nodding.
“Now it is. I feel so free. I miss you all so much.” I sob, walking into his arms.
After I pull away, I see Jacob and Paul sitting at the table, stunned at my appearance.
I sit down, explaining everything. How Edward kept tabs on everything I did, forbidding me to contact or see them, watching and controlling my every action. How he tried to stop me from coming here by disconnecting my car battery, assuming I wouldn’t know better.
“I should kill him.” Jacob seethed.
Paul nodding angrily.
“I think we should.” He agrees.
Seth looks down, rubbing circles in my back.
“Do you think he’s going to come back for you?” Seth asks me.
“No, I don’t think so. I’m more worried about the Volturi. But I don’t know if they would simply kill them instead of me, I don’t know.”
“Well, you have us. We won’t let anything happen to you.” Paul puts a warm, comforting hand on my shoulder.
Emily brings me over a cup of hot chocolate, sitting beside me.
“We’ll have to tell Sam when he gets back from patrol with the rest of the pack.” She places her hand over mine at the table.
“You should stay with us for a while.” Jacob suggests, earning a collective nod from the whole group.
“I can’t wait to see everyone else.” I give a weak smile, earning one mirroring back from the rest of the group.
“I know, we all missed the hell out of you. We were wondering what happened, but we couldn’t check on you with them around.” Jacob says.
“They’ll probably leave again.” Emily suggests.
And while I would miss Emmett, Esme, and Carlisle-- I knew it was what was for the best. I felt like this was my first breath of fresh air after drowning for months on end.
Suddenly, the door opens and all of us turn our attention to those walking in.
I look and see Sam, Quil, Jared, and Leah walking into the house.
I observed all of their shocked, yet excited faces… until my eyes met Leah’s.
I felt all of the air leave my lungs, the world stopped spinning around me.
If this meant what I thought it did, then my childhood crush had just imprinted on me.
“Hey. It’s been forever.” I breathe out, a small smile forming on my lips.
Leah looked like she had just seen a ghost, her mouth slightly agape.
“Hey. I missed you.” She smiles.
Quil looks between us with wide eyes, smiling like a maniac.
It happened, this is what was supposed to happen. Things finally made sense.
Jacob, who always knew about my feelings for Leah, smiled to himself. Low and behold, he had also known about Leah’s feelings for me that she had been hiding for quite some time, herself.
“I missed you, too.”

goodbye, my prince.
[ royalty au! heavy angst | jeong yunho ]
disclaimer: this is my first attempt to write a royal themed au. i hope you'll like it. also, i am planning to create a taglist, if you'd like to be included, let me know! ^_^
warning/s: forbidden/secret relationship, that's it, none that i know of, if you found one, let me know so i can add it.
Tumblr media
between now and ever after, what would you choose? you were his treasure, the biggest secret he kept. you are no princess nor were you born in a wealthy family. in fact, you were out of his league. it's ironic how fate always ends up playing with people from different status and leaves them with difficult choices.
it was known to everyone in town that the prince of Astra, prince yunho was getting married to Arendelle's princess and this was to guarantee the alliance of both kingdoms. this event was inevitable, it was fated to happen, despite how hard yunho tried to suggest a lot of alternative ways to strengthen the alliance of both kingdoms, it wasn't enough to stop the marriage. and ever since that day, things were rough for the two of you.
as someone who wasn't born from a wealthy family, you knew that even if it's not something you wanted to happen, you needed to end things between you and yunho. it was a difficult decision of course and he, on the other hand, wanted to continue what you have.
❝ don't you trust me enough, my star? ❞
❝ i do. i trust you more than i trust myself, it's just that we both know this is bound to happen, yunho. ❞ he was seeking for a guarantee and you wanted to assure him that things never changed, not even the way you'd look at him nor the feelings you felt all throughout your relationship.
they say that fairytales always have their happy endings but how sure is that? how can people be so sure of something that we cannot control, thinking about it now, the idea of a happy ending sounds absurd.
❝ star? ❞ he softly called you with the nickname he made the first time you met. your eyes met his and you thought about how this could be the last time you get to stare in those eyes. how they managed to shine even with the simplest thing. unintentionally, you started memorizing his every feature.
❝ i used to think that everyone has their own happy ending but looking back at it now, i found it absurd. it's not something we can control. i wasn't a part of your league and yet here we are. it's so unfair how fate keeps on pairing people who are completely different from each other. ❞ at this point you can't help but sob over the thought that both of you had to sacrifice what you have so you won't end up hurting each other in the long run. if this is the pain it cost the both you now, how much more painful would it be if this is to happen in the future?
seeing you break down, pained him. he was supposed to protect you. if he was to choose, he was willing to runaway with you, considering the risks he's about to take. to him, you had always shined brightly just like how the stars shines at night. to see you this fragile, it's like the stars lost its glow and the thought that he couldn't do much made him devastated.
❝ i guess fairytales don't always have their happy endings because even if it does, we had to make a lot of sacrifices whether it is for the long run or not. so even if we try to hold on to each other, this day will still come and it may even be more painful than how it feels right now. maybe this happy ever after don't exist in this fairytale but we did make the most out of it. ❞
❝ we did, and ever after existed in our fairytale. it just ended too fast, there were things we couldn't accomplish together and there will be things that we cannot accomplish together starting from now. i guess this is how our story ends. ❞ as much as he wanted to prolong this relationship, he understood what you were trying to say.
❝ i think so. ❞
❝ then as an order, do you mind staying with me for a little bit longer, my star? ❞ and that night, you both felt the need to make the most out of every seconds passing by.

another weasley
pairings: fred weasley x reader
type: fluff
word-count: 2.7k
warnings: some cursing
A/N: nothing just thought I'd hop on this and try it out I guess :o
No one had a clue of what was going on, or more like, no one was paying attention. Except Molly Weasley. She watched your every move, so much happiness filling her up that she could cry. Fred didn’t even know either, neither did you! But to Molly, it was pretty obvious. She has gone through it quite a lot, six times to be exact, and was able to recognize every single sign. You were pregnant! Molly was able to notice the change in your sleeping habits, the random waves of nausea, the extra snacking, the more you’d get mad at Fred whenever him and George were up to no good. It stressed Molly out seeing how immature the two still were but she knew she couldn’t go bursting your guys bubble. She preferred you find out on your own, wanting to see Fred’s reaction from afar but it has been a month and a half and still no one has taken action. Molly got to brainstorming, trying to find ways to make it obvious towards you. Maybe she could ask you if you missed your period? No, that would make it too obvious that she knew. She grew annoyed that not one of you could put it together.
“Hey, love.” Fred said, giving you a peck on the lips. He had just come back from a walk with his brothers, taking a breather out in the fresh April air. You giggled, feeling his nose poke your cheek when he pulled away. He smiled down at you, happy to have you tagging along to his childhood home. Molly couldn’t help but watch and gush from afar. ‘Oh! I’m going to be a grandmother!’ She thought to herself happily. George greeted you with a hug, treating you like the sister you were to him. Molly was blinded by her own happiness that she didn’t notice when George and Fred disappeared and reappeared behind her, scared out of her mind, she threw her hands up, while she screamed. They both laughed, moving away from their mother quickly.
“George! Fred!” She screeched loudly, making the twins laugh louder. You couldn’t help but let out a giggle. Ginny came out to see what all the fuss was about, surprise in her eyes. Once she saw what was the commotion about, she left a laugh out. It was days like these that you enjoyed, being close to your boyfriend and his family. You rarely were ever near your own family, conflict and fighting all the time so the Weasley’s were like your actual home. Your true family. While Molly went off to chase the twins, Ginny walked closer to you, shy for what she was about to ask.
“Hey, um, do you by any chance have an extra pad with you? I haven’t been able to go get some myself.” Ginny whispered to you gently which caused panic to rise inside of you. “Shit.” You gasped, trying to remember when was the last time you had your period. The ginger raised an eyebrow, unaware of what was going on. Worried written well all over her pale and small face. “Is something wrong? It’s okay if you don’t have any on you.” You shook your head in protest. No, it wasn’t that. It was something bigger than that. “I’m late.” A blush took over your face as Ginny clapped her hands together, covering her mouth while she let a gasp slip out. The huge grin on Ginny only made you blush harder but she soon dropped the act when she heard her twin brothers getting closer.
“Let’s go to the shop, we’ll be able to find the things we need there.” She offered and you nodded, glad to have her by your side during such a shocking moment.
-
After visiting the shop and buying all the items that were needed, you both eagerly crowded the Weasley bathroom. She had asked to stay with you, trying her best to comfort you. After agreeing, she turned around, giving you your privacy while you peed on the pregnancy test. You awkwardly put the test between your legs, new to the feeling of having to take one. “This is awkward, Ginny.” Blushing, you let out a stream, peeing directly on it while you looked toward the brittle ceiling. She only giggled, snickering to herself in the corner. “These are the consequences you have to face for sleeping with my brother.” You let out a laugh, closing the tip of the freshly used test and placing it carefully on the counter. “You can turn around now.” The remaining pee flushed down the toilet and Ginny glanced down at her wrist watch, waiting for the five minutes to pass.
“Soo, you and my brother, eh?” Rolling your eyes, you groaned. Laying your head on her sharp shoulder. Ginny wrapped her arms around you, patting your hair down and trying her best to soothe you. The younger girl secretly wished for it to be positive, ever since Fred had started dating you while you both were in Hogwarts and ever since the first time he brought you home, Ginny had instantly taken a liking towards you, just like how everyone in the Weasley family has. Now it's been, what? Three? Four years? It was bound to happen some day, planned or unplanned.
“Yea,” Sighing, you pulled away, pouting. “I swear, it was only that ONE time we did it without protection. It really does take one time.” Ginny giggled again. “He is a Weasley, you know what they say about us. Breeding like crazy.” You giggled with her, remembering how everyone in Hogwarts had teased them, asking if there was another Weasley waiting at home to attend Hogwarts. “Merlin, what am I going to tell your mom?”
“Hey, we still haven’t gotten a chance to see what the test says. It could all just be a false alarm.” She looked at her watch again, the five minutes gone. Both girls looked at each other, scared. “Go look.” You blurted out. “No, you look.” Ginny said back, failing to comfort you as her own palms grew sweaty from the anxiety. With eyebrows furrowed and trembling hands, you turned around, taking a small step forward to the counter. With a slow shaky hand, you grabbed the test and brought it close enough to read. Positive.
“So?” Ginny asked, biting her nails. It felt as if the air had been suffocating you, your own throat tightening and not being able to muster up even a small yes. So you nodded making Ginny smile and hug you from the back. Of course you were happy! Just shocked, afraid of what Fred would say. Afraid of what Molly would say! If only you knew that she had already figured it out on her own and already so so happy that you were pregnant with her grandchild. “How are we going to tell t-them?” You turned around, hot tears streaming down your face. Ginny immediately wrapped her arms around you again, she hated seeing you upset. “Please don’t cry. I can guarantee you that they’re all going to be ecstatic by the news!” She cheered while you sobbed.
“Come on, let’s wash your face with cold water. We can talk more about it in my room, I want you lay down and stay off your feet for now.” You agreed, turning around and turning the sink on, letting the water run. After being able to calm down, Ginny grabbed you and the test. She took your hand and guided you toward her neat and tidy comfort zone that was her room. Fred was working long hours today at the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes so both of you had the house for yourselves, Molly being away on a small date with Arthur. You were happy at how far they had come, seeing them grow from selling at school to owning their own shop and expressing themselves with their inventions. A child was definitely not in Fred’s plans and you knew that. His five year plan was to grow his family business and focus on his career with his twin and your were on board with it. But still, how would he react to having a bump interrupt his plans? Literally.
“What do you think?” You asked, sniffling. The ginger smiled, looking into your eyes lovingly and taking the seat next to you on her bed. “I think it's wonderful and I’m happy to become an aunt. But, remember that it’s all your choice. I don’t want you to feel forced to carryout a surprise pregnancy, nothing was planned and I cannot relate to how scared you might be feeling right now but I am anxious for you. And I will stand with you with whichever decision you take.” Ginny said, leaning into your shoulder. Hands intertwined and both taking shaky sighs. Millions of thoughts ran through your head, most of them were about Fred and how he would react. You thought of the pros and cons, mentally forming a list in your head. “I think it's wonderful too, Ginny.” She smiled, giving your hand a squeeze. “But I want to talk about it with Fred too, I don’t want to force him into anything. It’s a group decision and I can’t decide for him, that’d be unfair. Especially now that his business is doing good, a baby would just add more stress.”
It was great to have Ginny by your side. She was the biggest support system you had right now, something that made you emotional. You weren’t sure if it was the change in hormones that made your more emotional or because Ginny’s help was really moving but you couldn’t help but just cry. And she let you, welcoming you with open arms, not caring if her shirt got all soaked with salty tears and snot. You are family to her and she admired you for being so involved and caring.
Hours passed and you were asleep on Ginny’s bed while she was down in the kitchen, trying to fix you up something nutritional for when you woke up. She scavenged around the cupboards, trying to find the book of recipes Molly kept when she was pregnant to prepare just the right meals with a dash of magic. ‘Found it.’ She thought to herself once she saw it at the top, collecting dust. Casting a quick spell to bring it down, not trying to do all the work of standing on the counter. Her wand called for the remaining ingredients, all being laid out in front of her as she flipped through the book. Ginny was absolutely positive that Fred would want to keep it, she knew her brother and she knew that there wasn’t anything else that he wanted but you. In his life, in his future, in everything.
She walked up the stairs holding the warm bowl of lentils that had a various amount of veggies, and on the other hand, an organic yogurt with a crushed up recipe scrambled in with oats. You were still sound asleep but with Ginny’s gentle hand rubbing your shoulder, you rose up, thanking her for the meal and the support. Feeling awkward that you were the only one eating, she rushed down the stairs to prep herself a meal to join you. You both sat next to each other, enjoying your meals and having small chatter between you both. “Imagine the little clothes.” Ginny gushed while you smiled. You like the thought of that. “The hands!”
-
Everyone was home now, Fred and George barely got home and they were tired from being on their feet all day. They simultaneously took off their blazers, sat down, rubbed their head and sighed. You popped out of the hallway, giving a reason for Fred to get up excitedly off the couch with a smile on his face, making his way to you. “Baby.” He said making you choke on your own spit. Fred rose an eyebrow at it but didn’t question. Instead, he quickly pecked your forehead, then your nose, and finally, lowering down to your lips. “Can we talk real quick? Something came up today.” You mumbled against his chest as he smothered you with hugs and kisses. His body tensed at the words that fell out of your mouth but he nodded, slightly worried that there was something wrong. You guided him towards a room that wasn’t occupied by his family.
“Is everything alright, love?” The concern that was visible in his face and in his voice was enough to make anyone tear up and that’s exactly what you did. Fred got even more concerned when he saw the tears forming in your eyes. “Are you okay? Is something wrong? Have you come down with something? Are your parents bothering you again?” He bombed you with questions and all you could do was shake your head no.
“Listen, F-freddie.” You started, sniffling and trying your best to put yourself together in front of the love of your life. “I’m pregnant, I swear to you I just found out today.” Silence. The only response you did not want. It hurt every second knowing that he wasn’t letting out even a breath of air. Too afraid to make eye contact with him, you stared down at his hands that held yours lovingly. “I know it wasn’t in your plans, I’m willing to forget about it so we can continue living like we were yesterday. But, just please say something.” Finding the courage somehow, you looked up seeing that the reason why he was so quiet was because he was biting his lip, tears falling from the corner of his eyes.
The laugh you love so much filled the room as he pulled his hands away from you to rub the tears away from his eyes. “Forget it? This is amazing, we’re going to be a family!” Fred cheered a little to loudly, Molly appeared quickly in the room. Just by hearing the word ‘family’ made her heart skip a beat, excited that it was finally happening. Your heart dropped when she came into your view but a huge smile was dominating her. “About time you found out! I noticed just a month ago!” Fred turned to look at his mother. “I’m going to be a dad!” He yelled excitedly. Quickly, the room started filling up with all type of Weasley’s. First Ginny, a huge smile on her face. Then, Ron, confused of the random shouting, a piece of bread stuffed into his cheek. Then George, both eyebrows raised, excited for his brother. Percy in his suit stood next to Ron, confused as well as the yelling was muffled from where he was in the house. “We’re pregnant.” Fred said proudly, pulling you into him while planting a huge kiss on your cheek. His nose poking you which always made you giggle.
But, he was quickly to let go of you to hug George. “A Weasley!” They shouted, hugging each other and patting each others backs roughly. Molly scoffed at how Fred quickly changed his attention from you to George. She walked up to you and cupped your face. “I am so happy for you.” You teared up a little at the motherly love and acceptance. Her arms wrapped around you tightly, as if she was afraid to let you go. “I love you.” The tears of happiness couldn’t help but leak from your already tired eyes. You’ve spent the whole day crying but now they were tears of relief, tears of happiness and of excitement. The night was spent by celebrating the news, Arthur was the last one to hear it since he was off on a quick errand but he was filled with excitement knowing that they’ll be a new addition to the Weasley family. “Another one!” He cheered, Fred and George joining in.
This was a new chapter for both of you, of course you had a huge support system but you still were scared shitless of what parenthood had to offer. It was only the beginning, you weren’t even showing but soon that would turn into a small bump, to a bigger one. Then, to carrying them in your arms and raising them. A little you or a little Fred or possibly both.

———
One week.
That’s how long it had been since their argument. Spencer had driven back to his apartment in silence, absolutely stunned by the way things had blown up.
They’d gotten back from the case in Utah on the fifth of January, and he’d driven straight to Maggie’s, ready to give her a belated New Year’s kiss.
Maggie never spoke to him with any malice at all, even when he was actually doing something that irritated her.
Maggie was insistent that she wasn’t bothered by the declined call, but he still wished he could go back in time and answer it.
Maggie dropped her bag on the floor inside the door and turned to lock the deadbolt.
“Hey, mama,” Maggie breathed.
Despite herself, Maggie laughed wetly. “Oh my god, mama. No, I don’t need bail money.”
“Well, if you made bail it can’t be that bad,” Rose insisted.
“I didn’t— I’m not in jail, for Christ’s sake.” Maggie ran a hand over her face. “I messed things up with Spencer.”
“Well, we can fix that,” Rose responded matter of factly. “What happened?”
“We were fighting, and I said some really, really awful things,” Maggie admitted, tears spilling over her lash line.
Rose scoffed. “Honey, I say awful things to your father all the time, and we’ve been married almost forty years.”
Maggie heaved a long sigh. “Not like this, mama.”
Her mother hummed in consideration. “Well, what were y’all fightin’ about?”
“It’s complicated,” Maggie hedged, toying with the fringe of the scarf.
Rose clicked her tongue. “Do ya want my help or not?”
Maggie dropped her head back against the couch. “I ran into Owen on New Year’s Eve—”
“Well, I hope you told him to stick it where the sun don’t shine,” Rose practically growled.
Maggie closed her eyes as the tears tracked hot down her cheeks.
Maggie swiped uselessly at the tear tracks on her cheeks, sniffling pathetically. “And now I hurt the person who’s spent the last year singlehandedly undoing all of his awful handiwork.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Rose cooed. Maggie could hear the creak of the floorboards as her mother walked through her childhood home.
“No.” Fresh tears spilled over Maggie’s lashes as the thoughts that had kept her from calling him spilled out of her mouth. “What if it was too far? What if I ruined everything? What if he never wants to speak to me again?”
Ross heaved out a long breath. “That’s a lot of what ifs, Maggie Mae.”
“What if I’m right?” she whispered.
“And what if you’re not?” Rose countered. “That boy loves you. Anyone could see that, clear as day. He’d do just about anything for you.” Rose paused, and Maggie heard the springs of the bed squeak as she sat. “But you gotta let him, sweetheart. Right now you’re takin’ away his chance to do that. You’re makin’ the decision for him.”
Maggie listened as her mother’s advice crackled over the line, and for the first time in a week, she felt a tiny sliver of hope.
He’d promised himself he’d give Maggie the weekend to herself— that he’d let her come to him.
“And then I met you, and you…” Maggie let out a wry laugh.
“And then I was hurtful and awful, and I realized that I was just creating a self-fulfilling prophecy and I don’t— I don’t want to do that.”
“Maggie, I’m right here,” he assured her.
Maggie nodded, and he pulled her into another hug.
She looked at him then, and he continued, “You’ve been my lighthouse for a long time, Maggie.
She brought her hand back to his and laced their fingers together, rubbing her thumb along his.
Maggie took a deep breath and let it out on a long sigh.
“I was single for two years after that, just kind of… finding myself and whatever.” Her eyes watched the path his thumb traced along her skin.
He was a perfect gentleman, and he was smart, accomplished, and ambitious. I fell fast and I fell hard, and we were sort of— it feels so stupid to say this, but it felt like we were an it couple.
No one deserved to be spoken to like that, least of all Maggie.
She continued, “We spent the holidays at my parents’ the second year we were dating, and he spent the entire car ride home explaining, in detail, how ridiculous and low-class he thought everything was.”
She shook her head and rubbed her free hand over her face. “I know it’s insane to think that I stayed with him for so long, but I— he did a really good job of convincing me that I was— that I was nothing.
“When someone says all of that to you on a daily basis, and you’re not hearing otherwise from anyone else— because no one knew what was going on… you start to believe it.”
I had my moments of insecurity here and there, but for the most part, I was been able to recognize the moments when I was falling back into old thought patterns.”
She looked at him then, and her eyes were so soft and lovely that his heart ached. “You’re a big reason for that. You’re so open with how you feel about me, and… it makes things a lot easier.” She dropped her gaze with a sigh. “But I— he was at the party on New Year's. And I didn’t know he was going to be there until I was already there, and then it felt stupid to leave. I thought I could handle it—”
“And then I didn’t answer your call.”
“No, no.” She shook her head and reached her free hand out to grasp his arm.
She took a deep breath, and the rest steamrolled off her tongue and crushed his heart. “And then he just— left. And I just wanted to pretend like it never happened, but you kept pressing me on it, and I just— I didn’t want to have to explain it all to you because I was afraid that— that maybe he was right.”
Maggie dissolved back into the couch, an indication of the emotional exhaustion that came with reliving personal trauma.
She nodded, and he continued, “You are the single best person that I know. You’re kind, brilliant, talented, and driven. You’re interesting, and wonderful, and lovely. You’re my absolute favorite person on the planet, and I will never get bored of you.”
He let his eyes trace over all the angles and curves of her face, and then raised his eyebrows. “He’s lucky that I respect you enough not to go over your head, because what I’d like to do is run a full background check, find any and every possible transgression that could be legally investigated, and then use that information to ruin his life.” He tilted his head in thought.
But he wasn’t going to let Owen taint any part of his life with Maggie.
A year ago, you stood on my doorstep and gave me forgiveness— after I’d been a complete asshole to you…  I told you then that I wanted to learn how to love with you.
