Thinking about. Warren’s role in Max’s Nightmare Sequence.
#it’s just so interesting to me#rambly tags time!#cus like out of everyone to show up in the maze section Warren interests me the most#he’s the only character who Max doesn’t have direct trauma from or who hasn’t been like out to get her#heck in the previous scene before the nightmare starts#Max has that really sweet moment with him in the diner#Max’s journal entries whether you romance him or not always have her still thinking of him as a friend#like she never dislikes Warren and the closest thing is choosing options that make her express her dislike of his advances on her#when he shows up in the nightmare it’s specifically about him and the movie date he wanted to take Max on#and yknow his section is directly after Jefferson’s segment in the maze#what im trying to get with this is I think unlike most of the characters in the nightmare sequence#Warren isn’t supposed to represent himself more of Max’s general trauma with men and their feelings towards her she has now#hate to quote Jefferson’s whole innoncence into corruption bullshit#but it’s fitting because what before could just be taken by Max as Warren having an innocent yet slightly annoying crush#is now overwhelming enough for her after everything she’s been through to have it be physically hunting her down in her nightmare#it’s so interesting to me idk I love thinking about the nightmare sequence in general#I’m probably not the first to think of all this but I don’t interact with the general fandom as much as I like so I wouldn’t know lmao#snails ramblings

just watched the brazilian production of matilda the musical and to the surprise of no one i cried. to the surprise of some, 4 times.
#it was soooo good#i love matilda so much#in all its forms#but especially the musical#i went to london when i was 13 and my parents asked me if there was anything i wanted to do and they’d see if they could fit it#and i asked to see matilda the musical in the west end#it was too expensive for the whole family to go to but my mom took me#it was amazing i’ll never forget seeing when i grow up live and just bursting into tears#and now it’s 8 years later and i took my mom (and my aunt) to watch the brazilian production and it was just as great#i cried a few minutes into miracle then in school song for some reason? and then when i grow up of course and finally at the encore#also the set design was insane#the stage was like a circle with big letters spelling matilda…#but when they brought a certain letter upfront and showed its back it made up a different setting like matilda’s room or miss honey’s house#it was so freaking cool like please search pictures#also unrelated but mrs wormwood did a silent bend and snap at some point in the beginning of the show and i laughed so hard#no one else did but it’s okay myra i saw it and i appreciate it#(myra ruiz played mrs wormwood and fabi bang ms honey)#(if these names seem familiar to you it’s cause they’re the incredibly iconic brazilian elphaba and glinda respectively)#my post#matilda#matilda the musical

Thinking about Azula again...
#i need more people to understand her character and not just dismiss her as an evil person#a pawn or an emotionless husk#i need more people to understand that Ursa isnt a good parent#she married a monster and only realized her mistake after it was too late#once she had Zuko she finally had someone to pour her love into and to make her feel less isolated#so she coddled him and would spend all of her time with him#Ozai is a smart man im sure he noticed and figured out exactly why she was always preoccupied with Zuko which made him have a certain#disdain for his son which only grew as he got older and didnt meet his father's impossible standards#and then came Azula#her mother already had her perfect child so she didnt get as much attention from her#especially when she started showing certain characteristics that were reminiscent of her father#ursa was unnerved by Azula and her difficulty understanding certain things such as empathy#she was certain this child would grow up to be a monster like her father#so she never bothered trying to teach her to be better than him#which left her all to her father#who could groom her into the fire bending prodigy and brutal warrior that we knew in the show#he controlled her and manipulated her into being exactly what he wanted#a puppet and a weapon to be used as he saw fit#and when the curtains lifted ever so slightly from her eyes showing her the reality of her situation she broke#rambles#avatar the last airbender#princess azula

anyway my personal ranks of origins backstories just in the game by themselves is brosca and tabris at the top, aeducan at the bottom. cousland i will admit is pretty impactful but i still feel like, as wild as an option it would have been, that a cousland warden should had the option to solo rule. they are from the only other teryn in ferelden and it's even said that it was considered for bryce to rule so like! come on!
aeducan is at the bottom because it so tightly locks you into siding against bhelen, which i suppose is fair for brosca being so skewed in behlens favor bc of rica, but brosca is just Good so i forgive that, while aeducan is just suffering.
i still stand by my idea that the 'noble' dwarven origin shouldn't have been the second aeducan child, they should have been the second aeducan's second in place of gorim. that way there would have been more room for roleplay. also the second aeducan child would have been a secret third option for ruler of orzammar that you would encounter with the legion of the dead that they joined after being kicked out.
you would have to both do the legion of dead quest to give them a noble caste, and also have high as hell coercion for it to work but it would really cool and also so funny to do. that said the origin just by itself is pretty fun, love being backstabbed by my second favorite baby brother from the dragon age franchise
mahariel and the magi warden are in the 'i like them but they don't feel as impactful' as much as it hurts me. they're both just kinda there, however that said if the game let you recruit jowan into your party that would bring the magi warden up much higher. alas.

I don’t want a fionna and cake series. Please hbo just let this show have a narratively satisfying end pleaaase. The ending of adventure time was so good and such a good sendoff and it only WORKS if it’s an actual ending, it only works if we’re actually saying goodbye. Literally the whole message of the finale was that sometimes you have to let things end and accept that things will never be how they were, and that there’s beauty in that acceptance because no matter what changes it doesn’t erase what you had. You cannot literally have that be the entire THESIS of the last three or four seasons and then keep drawing it out for cash and nostalgia
#mine#at#adventure time#also I'm gonna say it the fionna and cake episodes do not hold up#they very much fit into the early days of adventure time when a simplistic and normative mythos of boyhood was central to the premise#and fionna and cake stood to contrast that which is why when it comes to gendered things fionna got treated *so* different by the writers#like how the narrative in the early seasons was pushing finn to 'get the girl' meanwhile the narrative within fionna and cake#was more about self-acceptance regardless of a man (keep in mind they were both like 13 at the time)#that's VERY gendered and it's the kind of thing that the writers clearly realized they were doing wrong#given how they recontextualized the gender stuff into something way more productive starting in the flame princess arc#and I get that they were all in ice king's imagination but let's be real that's not why those episodes aired#so the in-universe logic for why fionna was treated so differently than finn don't really make sense#anyway this is basically the same thing I was saying when they initially announced distant lands#and I still think they never should have released distant lands (even though I do love some of the stories told)#there's just no ending they could ever give the show that's better than the initial ending#and even if it was possible to give them a satisfying new ending they're NOT going to reach it by dwelling in nostalgia#because that's completely antithetical to what makes an ending good#at least antithetical to what made adventure time's ending good

Lineart to lineless art progress thingie (for funsies! and also bc im running out of things atm to put in queue lol). My fashion sense is very basic but i really like the left & right designs for Helene!
It's interesting to see how many details get lost/added in the process between lining things out/turning the lines to full color. Helene's face on the left loses the angle I was going for (OTL) and i fiddled with the anatomy a bit to make it better on the right
Wanted to make this as a glimpse at what a modern AU!version of Helene would look like (and im really hoping to see her on Earth and her reactions to being on Earth! but atm it's hinted only dragons are capable of tracking down people across 'verses so im just saying...hey Paris...regarding Helene and your Dragon Pact powers...).

#rat rambles#oni posting#Im sure this will feel perfectly fine to listen to and wont result in me having to skip at least one of the songs involved everytime#I never look for joshua songs I just listen to music and receive visions#well tbf that's how I find all my jackie songs too but yknow#everyday is just me looking for songs for any characters other than jackie and guess whos gangly ass shows up every time#I rly need to find a proper ellie song I only rly have sort of ellie songs#and one of them is mesmerizer which basically doesnt count#and the other one I have is a stretch since its mostly because I have an amv in my head for it#idk maybe she should just try to be as interesting as the joshua lore I made up in my head :/#but in actual seriousness the main problem with finding good ellie songs is that most songs that I find that could fit her fits someone#else better and this isn't even just an oni thing like Ive found songs that have come so close to making it on the playlist but got snagged#by an oc first and in ellie's case marci keeps stealing all her shots at getting more songs#like I Could just slap them on the oni playlist anyways but them I'd listen to it and just start thinking abt marci instead#also they just like. fit her better than ellie.#so ellie is stuck in playlist limbo next to nikola who got his one semi song and nothing more#hey theyre doing better than nails the closest they have is the rabbit au nails clones getting a song#I love my rabbit au clone ocs they are so silly I love making au specific ocs that I put through the horrors#I still think abt my random card au ocs pretty regularly even tho they dont even have names and mostly just exist for worldbuilding#especially the dog lady who I mostly made to get murdered by glitter green shes my beloved#I should try to draw her at some point (won't do that since she has thin long hair and Id rather die than draw that)#rly tho I should design my clone guys theyre mostly easy since theyre y'know. clones.#theres some of them with notable design differences tho#theres the nails who cant sleep whos very disheveled and looks like they're on deaths door at any given time because they are#and theres the joshua who found out abt the horrors and had an existential crisis over it and became emo#and the nikola who found out abt the horros and had an existential crisis over it and put his hair in a ponytail abt it#the latter two are also besties and maybe kiss sometimes idk#and then theres my bestie the jean that's olivia's lackey and is absolutely obsessed with her and is fucked up in the head a lil bit#most of the clones across the story are less notably different from their blueprints tho and even less so visually#and when I say most of them I mean like almost all of the nails clones since the other three only actually had the one or maybe two
