the thing I really love about tbosas is that you go into the story thinking you know who’s the songbird and who’s the snake but “songbirds” and “snakes” are both plural because as individuals Lucy Grey and Coryo are both a songbird and a snake in their own right, in this essay I will

do you think solomon felt guilty for taking so long (season 2) to tell mc he was immortal? the hints were there and no one was subtle about it, so it's easy to assume that mc already knew or guessed the truth, but it takes so long for him to say it clearly. feels like a good source of angst, especially since he finally tells them in the reaper's cave
Okay so I had to go back and re-read this part, which is in Lesson 36-3 for anyone who wishes to play through that part again.
But here is the relevant moment:
Tumblr media
He seems so casual about it. In fact, right before this if you choose something like wait how is that possible his response is this:
Tumblr media
Now. I think this could be read two different ways. You could see all this as Solomon being like, obviously this is no big deal. If you take it at face value, he seems rather unbothered by the whole thing and doesn’t seem to mind telling you what happened and that he’s immortal.
However. I do think that Solomon does this thing where he acts really casually about stuff when he actually feels something more deeply, especially when everyone else is there. In this moment, all the demon brothers are present and they already know this fact about him. So maybe he was not trying to hide it, but not bringing it up to MC on purpose. But when they’re all there, he can’t exactly deny it, so he decides to act as though it’s no big deal. He almost glosses over this and directly after they have this short revelation, they get back to the task at hand (finding Beel’s candle).
So while I think there probably isn’t anything deeper to this instance in the actual story, I DO think there’s plenty of room for reader interpretation. (To be clear, I don’t think there was anything deeper to this moment in season two of the OG, but there certainly seems to be more about the Solomon immortality piece in general, especially in Nightbringer. I think it might be very relevant to the NB plot.)
And the fact of the matter is, currently MC is NOT immortal.
This is an issue that’s present for all the characters, but it has a really heavy impact for Solomon specifically, imo. This is because he’s HUMAN. He isn’t naturally immortal, he should have died long ago. And not only that, but he’s going to live on indefinitely. And all his fellow humans live short lives and die, leaving him perpetually alone.
It’s painful. Imagine always losing everyone you’ve ever loved. Always being the one still lingering after they’re all gone. Imagine being careful to never get too close to anyone because you don’t want to suffer through the pain of losing them later. Imagine knowing about the Devildom and the Celestial Realm and magic and sorcerers with such a deep understanding, but never being able to share it with anyone. Those that do join you in the study of magic will never be at your level because they die too soon. The only friends you can count on having for any decent length of time are demons or angels - beings that can’t understand your very existence.
Nobody can tell me that all of this isn’t something that Solomon thinks about. That maybe this is one of the things he tries to forget about by throwing himself into research. That this is one of the things that plagues his racing mind when he’s trying to sleep.
Then imagine along comes another human who might almost be on your level. Someone who has the potential to understand you in a way nobody else ever has. Someone you’re inexplicably drawn to, someone you can’t help but fall in love with, someone who’s still mortal. Someone you’ll inevitably lose like you’ve always lost everyone else before.
Do I think he felt guilty? Yes. The game plays it off as a sort of quirk about him, but the implications are so heavy that I just headcanon my own thoughts about it. And I think that Solomon would try to stay in that place of ignorance for as long as possible. He likely felt bad about obscuring this fact from MC - again, not lying about it or even really going out of his way to hide it, but just… not telling them.
However, I think that he felt a lot worse about what that truth means for him and for MC.
Oh dear I may have gotten carried away. Listen, you asked for angst and I have thoughts about this lol.
Lemme leave you with one last thing, though. I completely forgot he said this:
Tumblr media
LOOOOOL. I dunno about you guys, but I refer to him as an old man all the time. I’m pretty sure we do that collectively as a fandom, so the fact that he straight up said not to do that way back in season two of the OG made me CACKLE. I’m sorry Solomon, but calling you an old man/grandpa/peepaw/etc is too much fun. It’s okay, Lucifer and Simeon get called those things, too lol. It’s a compliment, I swear.

Fuck It Friday
Good afternoon! It's technically Saturday here but shhhh! We've got a small continuation of Eddie and Buck post Shannon's death in Single Dad au today! Pls enjoy
Tagged by @cal-daisies-and-briars @watchyourbuck @steadfastsaturnsrings @daffi-990 @hippolotamus and @wikiangela thank you my friends!!
Eddie looks like shit.
It’s obvious he’s been crying; his eyes are red-rimmed and puffy, and he’s got that kind of far away, glazed look in his eyes of someone who’s not all quite there. He’s got a hand on Christopher’s shoulder and Buck can tell from the way his knuckles are white, that he’s clutching onto Christopher for dear life.
And Christopher, man, the kid looks so small next to his father. He looks scared and confused, like he’s not entirely sure how they ended up at Buck’s place and Buck reckons the kid is just here for the ride. He looks not dissimilar to Carrie did 5 years ago and Buck’s throat constricts painfully at the memory.
“Hey,” he says softly, letting go of Carrie’s hand to place it on Eddie’s shoulder and squeeze tight.
“Hey,” Eddie replies. His voice sound far away, like an echo.
Buck steps back, letting them through the door, and bends to help Christopher out of his shoes because Eddie’s just standing there swaying lightly as if there’s a breeze. Buck gets it, he really does.
“Carrie,” he says softly, drawing his daughter and Christopher close to him, “why don’t you take Chris into your room. You can show him your new Switch game?”
Carrie shakes her head and takes Chris’s hand, squeezing it quickly before gesturing for him to follow. “I wanna show him Momma.”
Buck’s heart clenches, but he lets them go, watching as Carrie guides Christopher to the backyard, keeping her hand between his shoulders as they walk. He hears Eddie let out a breath and looks up just in time to see him slump forwards.
Buck stands up quickly and grabs Eddie, pulling him into his arms and holding him so tight he worries he’s going to break a bone.
“Hey, hey it’s okay, I’m here. I’ve got you.”
Eddie lets out a strangled noise as he buries his face in Buck’s neck, his body shaking as he sobs. Buck lets him cry. He holds him, one hand pressing into the small of his back as the other cups his neck, and he sways the two back and forth.
Eddie pulls away after a few minutes, sniffing loudly, a horrible, snotty noise. “I’m sorry,” he chokes, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, “I should be better.”
“Eddie,” Buck says softly, clasping his shoulder and angling his head so Eddie has no choice but to look him in the eyes. “Your wife just died. You don’t need to be anything right now.”
At that moment, Lily, having initially followed her sister and Chris into the backyard, came padding quietly towards Buck and Eddie and reached up to tug on Eddie’s pants.
“Eddie?”
Eddie looked down and gave her a watery smile. “Yes, mi princesa?”
Lily holds her arms up, giving him a small taster of her puppy eyes that have caused Buck to fold like a deck chair a number of time. “Hug?”
Eddie chokes out a laugh between sobs and lifts her into his arms, sighing heavily as Lily settles her head on his shoulder and threads her fingers through the short hairs on the nape of his neck. Usually she does this to calm herself down but today, Buck can see his daughter is trying to bring Eddie a semblance of the comfort she gets from his hugs.
“You’re sad, Eddie?” Lily asks quietly.
Eddie nods, swallowing hard. “Yeah, baby, I’m sad.” He cups the back of her head with his hand, running his fingers through her long, blonde curls, and sways them back and forth, almost in a little dance.
“Daddy says we need to make you feel better. Do hugs make you feel better?”
This time Eddie’s laugh is more genuine. “Hugs always make me feel better. Do you think we should get your Daddy in here?”
Lily perks up at this idea immediately and lifts her head off his shoulder, holding her arm out for Buck to join.
“Come on, Daddy!” she insists, making grabby hands towards him and Eddie, the fucker, with his watery eyes and snotty nose, grins and opens his arm for Buck too.
“Yeah, Daddy, come on.”
With a playful eyeroll, Buck steps into Eddie and his daughter’s embrace, holding them both tight. It’s a little awkward at first, trying to juggle Lily so she’s not being squashed between the two men, but eventually they get there with Lily sitting on Eddie’s hip, one arm around Buck’s neck and the other around Eddie’s, and her forehead resting against Buck’s as she pulls him closer. Buck’s nose brushes Eddie’s ear as he lays his head on Buck’s shoulder.

Oh shit I completely forgot about Lost Johns cave fuck that shit is horrifying
I think only 2 serial fiction podcasts have ever actually made me breathe a little too fast. The other was Limetown which...the Napoleon episode fucked me up (only episode I ever had to pause for a few seconds), as well as just the concept in general. But Magnus Archives in addition to being overall the best complete podcast I have listened to had a couple of real getters individually. MAG-15 Lost Johns Cave is one.
"It meant me harm."
And then when they played the recording back and I realized what she was saying my entire body just got cold.
Like, the reason I consume horror content isn't actually because it frightens me. It almost never does. So when it does more than unnerve and thrill me, it's doing a very good job. Congrats Jonny Sims for doing it a good two or three times in Magnus Archives.
By the way, the cave is real.
Here's how you go in.

⭐ <-- me asking you to ramble about any part of TPATD that you've been dying to ramble about 👉👈
Aaaah, thank you so much for asking, Lumi!!! 💖 I hope I won't accidentally spoil something, but if I do, I'm at this point where I DON'T CARE BECAUSE I WON'T SO MUCH TO RAMBLE. The ask game is this, for anyone who's interested!
So, among the parts I want to ramble about in TPATD is Jia's father. As I've already revealed in the story, Remus was Martin Septim's heir, so that means that he was, too, of the Septim lineage—not pure-blooded, since the events of Oblivion are about 200 years before Skyrim's, but still, Jia's father carried a great legacy behind his back… because not only was he a descendant but also Martin Septim's reincarnation. This hasn't been revealed yet, but it will be in the next chapter through Miraak's dream sequence… And the fact that Remus was Martin Septim born again, and Martin Septim, more or less, ascended into godhood by becoming Akatosh's avatar (and from then, at least in my headcanon, Akatosh's same hypostasis—I imagine it close like Christianity's Trinity), I keep wondering… What does that make Remus? A mixed-reincarnated God? In the end, was it he who answered Miraak's prayers and saved both him and his daughter from Apocrypha while bearing Akatosh's massive dragon form wreathing in firelight?
Does this reincarnation thing have some kind of relation with Jia's and Miraak's soul bond too?👀

SCREAMING STIMMING SPREADING THE WORD EVERYONE GO WATCH NIMONA ON NETFLIX
It's such an amazing trans allegory. Being trans she makes me feel so seen, I AM HER AND SHE IS ME. Ballisters whole "Maybe just be a girl?" And just asking questions thing really is how a lot of people are, and then just the "I'm, nimona ." Like is so perfect. I love how (spoiler?) Hes finally able to see her as exactly that, her. As nimona. Not a monster or just a girl but as who she is. Being pangender this just really hits close to home lol.
I love the animation and style too, but the message and stuff just makes me so much more happier. It's so sweet and Netflix didn't really promote it at ALL SO GO WATCH IT
It's probably not like the books but I want to read them and find out sksks

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
3: I’m not really sure. It’s hard for me to determine what seems indicative to readers as something I’ve written. Pining, probably is a big one? I also can’t fucking write a fic without a character at the very least alluding to jerking off for some reason. And as of late, environment is a thing I put too many words into. Also when I have an adhd moment and the brain goes too fast and I accidentally a few words and don’t catch it on any of the edits. I’d be curious as to what people who’ve read my stuff would answer for this.
7: Worldbuilding is my favorite thing to do and is generally the thing I’m most positive about in my writing. It’s the thing I put the most work into that no one but me gets to see 90% of the details for. I love the post-apocalyptic world in Survival is for Nerds that no one has read. In my big ZaDr fic, I am very happy with what I came up with for Irken society and their biology (even if that fic could’ve been miles better, it was mostly a practice in ‘can I write Zim in character in a more dramatic, adult fic’ which I think I succeeded at). The worldbuilding I didn’t even get to in my abandoned warcraft fic still hangs heavy in my head cause I fucking ador it. I love the area I made for Show Me How to Dance (Again), and I would’ve loved to have talked more about the areas we didn’t get to see cause Hermes never visited them or they got cut.
Right now, the thing I’m particularly proud of is how Styx Beach turned out in Tide. I love small town dynamics and love making them so much, its genuinely hard for me to write about city living because smaller towns are so much more interesting to me. And I adore how Styx Beach came together :D
