I love watching Tears of the Kingdom memories out of order /sarc /lh
It took my around 100 hours to even find out the tears were a thing and wondering wtf my mom was talking about when I kept asking for help on what to do but that aside, I had seen #1 and #2 in order, tried to find Tabatha stable for a good 2 hours and then decided to go take a break and got hit with #8, WHICH WAS LIKE GETTING HIT BY A TRAIN
#1: :0 time travel wow oh wait your my old grandparents
#2: "let's go to the castle dear and get some clean clothes"
#8: SHE'S DEAD AND GANON IS IN POWER AND YOUR FUCKING WIFE IS DEAD AND ITS YOUR FAULT RAARU
Also there's 18 memories?? Damn how the fuck is it gonna sucker punch me more than that fucking 180 in story but aside from that i. I really wish it gave you a little way to back out, like it tells you the memory of what your about to watch and if you wanna do it later, I wanted to watch them in order TT AND I STILL HAVENT FOUND TABANTHA STABLE
#once i lost a carton of milk in the fridge and genuinely stood there for like an hour i was later told trying to find it. and then#my roommate walked over and handed it to me in about 4 seconds so i am not surprised i cant find the stable#im gonna go use google now#im mostly posting since i realized i should make semi regular posts on this account for my own sanity even if its not s&m related#since im not really s&m related anymore aside from the occasional art i'll change my pfp to reflect that eventually#i want to start making zelda art but i would want to put ALOT of time learning a more realistic artstyle to be happy with that#and contrasingly im struggling to learn the really cartoony style of aga so uh. shit outta luck with all of my hyperfixations rn#i might make something genuine related to undertale in the meantime? i have some aus ive held incredibly close to my heart#talk talks#hmm okay yeah i should start using fandom tags but i dont want to clutter anything what do i do here#zelda ranch dip#hell if i'll remember that but i'll put it in my searchable tags as a hail mary#would anyone be interested in my wackass theory about how i think link is a witch#i have a giant ass rant in my discord i think as well as a few rants on the fae and the such#oh shit good tag to put in her actually right before i hit post#spoilers#totk spoilers#just in case cause i got spoilered a little bit? but i have really good luck and skill with avoiding spoilers about alot of games and#the only thing i really know is that zelda turns into the dragon..i think ive been told that was wrong but i might be being juked

I hope it’s not too much to ask, but could you add the name of the OCs you draw in your posts? Sometimes, I’ll be looking for a character on your blog and I don’t find all of the art you post of them. You don’t have to. It’s just a suggestion. Thanks for acknowledging this!
I've never really bothered because all of everyone's art is publicly organized on Toyhouse, but it'd probably be best to tag them here too lol,,
So anyway I spent days tagging everybody so you can now search my blog by name! Each tag is firstname emojiemojiemoji [pro/nouns] but is searchable just by first name so dont worry! I just added the extra stuff to differentiate between characters with the same name, and characters with simple names with 1 or 2 letters from getting lost in search!
I am not going to link everypony here because like,,, thats WAYY too many tags, but heres a few popular characters I think people would want links to lol
Silly 💖🌈💫[They/She/He/Star]
Space 💖💫🌌 [He/They]
Felix 🍁🐾🍂 [He/Him]
Yuzuru 🌈⭐️❤️‍🔥 [He/They]
Lyra 🧶💖🎨 [She/Her]
Wishful☁️🐶✨ [He/Him]
Starbit 👾🌌💫 [He/They]
Theres definitely LOTS of mistakes I made-- I think half of the mass icons posts are mistagged in someway (missing tags, characters tagged twice via initial post + reblogs, etc) buuuuut I dont care. This tagging method is never going to be perfect, but if you want carefully curated art galleries toyhouse is literally right there lmao,, but hopefully this is an alright-enough alternative!
I'll try to keep up tagging everything new also! I already did the last couple posts while I was still busy tagging everything so if u noticed the new tags this is what those were for!

Is there any reason you don’t use a tag for all your art? I would love to scroll through all your art at once
because this account is an archive of the stuff i make. i very rarely if ever reblog things cuz i dont actually use tumblr besides to archive my stuff so this is essentially an art blog u can scroll thru to see everything
90% of the time i use this account to post loz doodles so u can very easily just find the vast majority of the stuff ive drawn by searching either loz/legend of zelda. if i didnt tag something it's probably cuz i dont want it to be searchable. if u dont want to see messages i respond to u can mute 'ask hedge', if u dont want to see duplicate self reblogs u can mute 'boop'. i just dont see the point of an art tag when i only use this account to post art

Every time I post art and I think I tag it correctly, it floats into the void with no interaction every time.. do you have any tips.
Hey! I definitely don’t know everything there is to know on this so others are welcome to add on, but as far as I am aware here are some things to consider:
- tumblr will punish you for adding too many tags. Prioritize reach tags over personal tags if you think you have too many. That is your shit will not show up in ANY tag or even be searchable on ur blog if you just have too many tags.
- actually check out the contents of the tags you use, or at least the ones you use more frequently. Does your work feel like it is sort of in the same realm of what other people might be looking for in this tag? If not, try some alternatives.
- i also personally go thru tags i use and reblog other artists out of them. I find by interacting with other artists and people who like art like yours, you will find your community and honestly your community on here is gonna be more responsible for a post taking off that probably using The Right Tags although tags can help
- likewise reblogging other artists to my art blog shows people i care about their art and rising tides raise all ships!
- i use a lot of -core tags. Call it cringe but i find it helps. Scenecore, kawaiicore, webcore, cozycore. Look into some of these and other “aesthetic” tags!
- at least at one point in time, having ANY link in your post will remove it from the tag. So, if you want your post to go far, add the link in a comment or a reblog.
EDIT: also another thing i do is REBLOG MY ART ALL THE TIME! So many times people will just not have seen it bc theyre a new follower or were offline when i posted it and even if they already saw it, most people are happy to see it again! So give your old art a reblog, reblog it to your main blog, and dont apologize for it!
Hope that helps! Again please feel free anyone reading to add some tips for tagging and reach. Thanks for the question anon.

ok i wanna make my own tips post for the redditors
hello welcome :] here's some things i've noticed it seems a lot of you aren't aware of. i might add more later:
first of all, PLEASE turn on custom theme! you don't have to actually make or find a theme yourself as it gives you a default one, (but it is really fun and good to personalize your blog however you want) but doing this makes it easier to view and search your own blog, as i will describe later. this makes it so that you will show up at yoururl.tumblr.com and not just tumblr.com/yoururl it gives you your own page! it's good!! you can only tick this setting on desktop:
Tumblr media
another very important thing: DO NOT FUCKING REPOST ART WITHOUT CREDIT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. honestly you should not report art without permission at all, but at LEAST credit the artist. and saying "idk who did this but credit to them" DOES NOT COUNT. take some time to reverse google image search and find the artist. if you can't find them, DON'T REPOST!!! turning the art into a meme doesn't mean you don't have to credit the artist!!!!!! AAHHH!! ok.
TAGS/SEARCHING in reblogs, all tags serve to do is (a) leave a bit of quiet commentary, if you're too shy to leave it in the actual body of the post or (b) organize posts on Your Blog Only. tagging a reblog does not make the post show up in the searchable tag. reblogs are not searchable through the tumblr search bar.
to find posts from a certain tag on your own blog, go to yoururl.tumblr.com/tagged/tag. you can also add /chrono to the end of that url to view the posts in chronological order! you actually don't need to tag original posts with every variation of a tag either. for example if you tag something as "r/196", it will show up when just "196" is searched for, because it contains "196" in it. so you dont NEED to tag the post "196, r196, r/196" etc. but i mean. do whatever u want. honestly i think a lot of veteran tumblr users don't even know that. but yeah tagging with a ton of variations like that is unnecessary unless you're spelling something differently or doing an abbreviation as well as a full title, such as "#what we do in the shadows, #wwdits"
also, your posts are searchable by literally any word in the post, whether it be the body, the tags, or even your url. so if your url has 'catboy' in it, and someone searches 'catboy' they will see all of your original posts in the tag lmao. it is pretty stupid but that's how it works.
on that note, FILTERING with filtering tags, it is very specific. so if youre content warning tagging something, please just tag it with the word, like "#blood" because if you tag it "#cw blood" or "#blood ///" people who just have "#blood" blocked, will still see the post! lots of veteran tumblr users don't seem to grasp this either 😭
you can filter out words as well as tags, but that can get tricky because if you filter out "rape" words like "grape" and "drape" will also be blocked, so i only use the word filter to block peoples urls. because even if you have someone blocked, you can still see people reblogging their posts, so if u don't wanna see them at all, block their url as a filtered word.
you can do all of this in the regular ol' 'settings' tab on desktop. on mobile it's settings -> general settings -> filtering
PAGES something i love about tumblr but is getting used less and less is the ability to make separate pages on your blog. the option to do so is all the way at the bottom on the theme customization panel. (only available on desktop tumblr)
Tumblr media
nowadays a lot of people just make a carrd and provide a link to that, but tumblr allows you to make your own separate blog pages! a lot of people use this to make "about me" pages, since it provides a lot more freedom than just the "blog description" section! you can put images on there, and just completely code the whole thing yourself! unfortunately, these pages aren't visible on mobile unless you link to them in your blog description (see my blog as an example) using <a href="link">link title</a> lots of people have links like this in their descriptions that lead to about pages or carrds! you should click on these to learn more about the person you're following!!
some people have "DNI (do not interact)" or "BYF (before you follow)" pages to set boundaries on who they do or don't want following them, as a warning of like "hey if you fall under this criteria and you follow/interact with me, you're getting blocked" so those are good to check for! some folks have lots of strong opinions on these that theyre "stupid" or "useless" but really it's just a warning and setting boundaries. like, if you follow me and ur not supposed to, i'm just gonna block you anyway, it was just a warning that that's what was gonna happen!
speaking of blocking, just fuckin' block whoever you want whenever you want. if you find someone annoying just block them. if they post something you don't like just block them. there's no need to get into an argument. just block! and they're gone! wheeee!!
SIDEBLOGS!!! you can have separate blogs from your main one that are connected to your same account! some people have tooooons of sideblogs for every single fandom they're in, some people just use their main for everything. it's up to you!
note that you can only like posts, send asks, follow people, and reply to posts under your main blog url. sideblogs are just for posting and reblogging in a more organized manner :] it's good to say in the description of your side blog what your main blog is so people know who you are when you like and reply to posts and such! (and also to list your sideblogs somewhere on ur main for the same reason. i use the aforementioned about page for this ^u^)
um that's it for now! there's a lot of other things i could talk about, but i'm sure other posts are covering it.. these are just ones i really want to iterate, especially the tags thing cause i think a lot of tumblr users don't even realize that lol ^u^ i've been active as fuck on tumblr since 2013 so I can answer questions if you have any :)

like okay current State Of Things I think there's like, a sliding scale, a spectrum of how people respond
least likely imo is people keep going as they have been. people keep making stuff, tagging and posting like they have, with an increased risk of a wrestler vanity searching and finding it. oh well! that's Just How It Is Now!
my more likely, best case scenario is people stop tagging stuff. people stop using searchable tags. if you know wrestler x is lurking around and you wanna post fanart but don't want them to see, you post is and don't tag it wrestler x. sure no fan searching can find it, but they can't either. people move the meta tags for fics into the notes, again making it harder to search (or avoid) fics with certain characters or pairings.
worst case is people just stop making stuff. you can control exactly who sees the stuff you dont make- no one! no one gets to enjoy it, least of all you, but no one can toss it in a wrestlers messages.

with the twitter junk I’m trying to move to tumblr 😭 but idk how tagging works and what ppl usually do and wanted to ask you bc your main site is tumblr iirc sjdjdj so like. do you have any advice 🎤
So the way tagging works is you press the hastag at the bottom of the post and just tag one by one anything you find relevant
For example i usually tag the fandom and if its art i also tag that, i tag my own posts under #lucy blabs and i tag my asks as #answered, aside from fandom tags most of these are basically whatever u want like someone might tag their asks as #ask or #thank you for the ask or anything they really want, those are kinda more to make ur blog be more searchable (as searchable as tumblr can be lmao) then to actually be found in any wider tags (tho if ur posting art of fics or edits or whatever youd tag anything relevant like #fandom #relevant character #relevant ship etc so ur works CAN be found in those tags) I hope all of that makes sense. Tags are also used to just kinda, talk in them! Like usually if i want to comment on art or make a joke or anything ill do it in tags like #Great art op! I usually think of this as unobtrusivly whispering your thoughts, fbvhb i found twitter v intimidating because if you wanted to say something u had to comment on the post and that felt like walking right up to the creator and talking in their face! Scary!
What people usually do...basically anything? Im not really sure what this is refering to chfg. Its not that different from twitter, you can post your own stuff and share other peoples stuff. The biggest difference i can think of that unlike twitter where u may see content the person u followed reblogged/liked/commented/even just is following the person whos content ur seeing, tumblr is 100% about reblogs. There is an option to leave ur likes visible on ur page, but ppl will only see those if they specifically go to your page. What your followers see of you on their dashes is 100% what u reblog. It makes it super easy to currate your dash because you get exactly what you follow, you wont be getting some random persons content on ur dash just because the person u follow is following them (unless its a blazed post ofc). Use tags, block tags u dont like and follow ppl who post what you like and you should be good! Also dont worry about the follower count or unfollowing someone if u stop liking what they post, follower count isnt publicly visible on tumblr and nobody seriously cares about it
I hope that helps!

So, I reblogged a kal'tsit post recently and saw it this as my tag options
Tumblr media
...
This is going to be a lot harder than it needs to be
I can recreate the second and third one easily
Kal'tsit
Kaltsit
But the first?
Maybe if I opened Tumblr on the PC
But that would prevent me from doing the second one
I know I am also a contributor of tag cluttering but, eh, I wish there was a way to at least create a personalised tag-wrangler list, like I want to search kaltsit and get all three results, now I can only trust that when I tag things myself I dont start feeling fancy and type in kal'tsit
Same goes for dear hoolheyak
Tag woe
Tagging the post with all three IS an option, but since it's for my own benefit I should also streamline the process
reverse 1999 and r1999 are also sideeyeable misdecisions
Also did you know if you want to find a post with your tags on your own page you need to add the tag to your searchable tags first
💖 ✨ FUCKING ✨ ANNOYING ✨ 💖
Settings > Featured Tags
add the tags here!
Now you have a functional search bar for your own blog
If you don't remember the tags you've used
💖✨ GOOD LUCK ✨💖

this is my archive so i can find things
do you ever get that itch where you can remember part of a sentence you read or else the feeling you felt when you read it, and if you can only read the rest of it, you can tick it off, move on, but first you need to find it, and what you can remember is not enough!!! i get that feeling a lot. its a big distraction. this keeps those sorts of posts seperate to make it a bit easier for me to find them
please dont ask me to explain my tagging system. it makes sense in my head.
sometimes i transcribe a screenshot in the body of a reblog, to help make it a bit more searchable. i usually transcribe whatever i’m likely to search for so it isnt a full transcription.
anyway, this is for me, but if anyone stumbles across it and wants to share, feel free, but please keep in mind i’m not tagging/posting/ect for anyone other than me so it may not make a lot of sense
i dont take requests and if you send me a message i probably wont see it tbh. i dont really look at the notifs on this blog

Top 3 career networking mistakes college students make
Combined with the following asks:
Hi Mr. ENTJ. I found your excellent “top 3 job hunting mistakes” post really insightful. Could you do another post for everyone’s worst nightmare aka professional networking with strangers? Tips and tricks you recommend would be much appreciated!
Dos and dont’s of networking for someone who is entering college? I cann’t stress how this blog helps me with my anxieties about joining the job market especially in this screwed up Covid situation. You’re really a blessing and I hope you know that
Hello Mr. ENTJ. What are some annoying things you would recommend we NOT do while we are networking because I have this constant fear I’m being annoying and bothering people when I want to talk to them so I’d like to avoid doing these as well. Thank you

Job hunting 101
1. They only start networking when they need something
Now why would this be a problem? Allow me to demonstrate:
“Hi! My name is Mr. ENTJ. I know we just met, you don’t know much about me, and we have absolutely no relationship but GIVE ME A REFERRAL BECAUSE I DESPERATELY NEED A JOB. THANKS.”
Newsflash: People don’t enjoy being used and they can see right through this behavior. If you network for the purpose of getting something out of someone, then you’re doing it wrong, because you’ve given them no incentive to help due to the simple fact you have nothing to offer them in return. If you do choose to treat networking as a business transaction, then at least have relevant skills, experience, networks, and tangible benefits to provide.
Otherwise, networking should be done nonstop throughout your college career and the rest of your life-- it’s not a one-time event that you buy a ticket to attend. The family you’re related to, the people you go to school with, the professors you learn from, the TAs and staff you interact with, the colleagues you work beside, the managers you report to, the clients you serve, and the friends of friends of friends you come in contact with-- these are all part of your network. Manage your personal brand by building a reputation for excellence because every interaction contributes (or subtracts) to that. Remember that real life interactions with people, creating real memories, and building real bonds are infinitely more powerful than anything the internet can ever artificially create. Build, invest, and nurture your network in real life-- it will serve you well beyond your professional career.
Key Takeaway: Start early, build relationships organically and naturally, and go into networking with the intent of gaining knowledge and building bonds so that you can be happy even if you get nothing out of it.
2. They treat other people like search engines
This generation grew up with Google, Yahoo, and Bing where questions can be typed in and answers are spit out in 1 second flat. This dynamic has severely damaged the concept of hustling-- many people don’t know how to search, scrap, and grind to get what they want anymore because they expect that something or someone will hand them the answer. It can make people lazy, inept, and borderline entitled. The first question I ask someone when they want something from me is this: “What has your research already told you? What work have you already invested into your problem?” Before you ask someone a question, be ready to explain what you’ve already done to deserve the answer. Be specific about your goals, well-researched with your information, and deliberate in your interactions with other people while networking to avoid wasting their time. This conveys that you’re serious about your goals and motivated to achieve them.
Additionally, make sure you ask the right questions. Here’s the one thing I drill into the head of every student I advise: The most valuable type of information that networking and personal relationships can give you is what you can’t find on the internet. Don’t ask people basic searchable questions like “How do I become a software engineer?” This is a waste of time. Ask them instead about their personal experiences, their challenges, their tips and tricks, their pearls of wisdom, tough lessons, and the things that surprised them along their journey. These are things you won’t find on the internet and that will give you the greatest advantage. If it’s searchable on the internet, then everyone will know it but if it’s only discoverable through private conversations, then only you and few others may know it. Don’t treat people like search engines, treat them like individuals who can provide a wealth of knowledge through their personal experiences.
Key Takeaway: Subject matter experts are here to supplement your knowledge, not provide it because they’re not paid professors. Make it as easy as possible for people to tell you what you want to know by looking for the answers first and then asking them things that can’t be easily found on the internet.
3. They don’t maintain the relationship
Self-explanatory. Don’t let relationships go cold or else you risk making mistake #1.
The easiest way to keep in touch with people is social media and with the current state of the world everyone is more plugged into the internet now than they’ve ever been before. You don’t need to inundate someone with constant communication but a comment here, a like there, a group message occasionally, a congratulations from time to time, and a happy birthday at least once a year helps stay engaged with people in your network.
Key Takeaway: Keep in touch. That’s it. That’s the message.

“hmm if most of what you post is shitposts with occasional personal posts, dont be offended if someone reblog a post that is personal but can be applicable to anyone and is worded in a way to be relatable. We feel the same shit, just tag it if you don’t want it to be reblogged. I will respect it.” Has been sitting in my drafts for a while after someone got mad at me for reblogging an searchable tag post that was not marked as do not reblog in any way.
Yeah I've just been informed that one of the posts I queued from the trans man tag has the OP pretty peeved that I reblogged it and I'm like sorry man, it was in a searchable tag and not marked dni in literally any way so how tf am I supposed to know you don't want it interacted with. It's the trans tag, every fucking post on there is personal.
Also don't put your personal shit somewhere people can interact if you don't want it interacted with 🤷‍♂️ you're not that much younger than me, you should have gotten the same internet safety education I did. Don't want people to mess with your deepest inner thoughts like a bunch of weirdos? Don't put it somewhere weirdos can find it.

any advice to someone who is starting a writing blog also how do you continue writing when you dont know how to continue the story or have writers block
Oooh this is a big question! First off, I hope you have fun starting a writing blog! I remember being so nervous to start mine. If you check out the tag #pwyl; writing tips (I’ll tag it to this post) you’ll find some previously shared tips but here’s some I can think of just now:
Write small. Don’t feel you need to start off with a series on your blog. I started with drabbles. My goal back then was to write 300-500 words a day at least 5 times a week, just because I wanted to write so badly. I remember I started my blog just before going away to a city up north for 2 days and on the plane ride home I was writing because I was so inspired haha. Anyway, the point is, if you write lots of little stories, then you can post regularly. The more active you are, the easier it can be to gain attention.
Ensure you’re tagging properly. The first 5 tags are searchable, the rest just go to your blog’s tagging system. So make sure the first 5 count. I always use “idol” fanfic / fiction / scenarios (or drabbles if it’s a short piece) / and the genre or au for my first five tags unless I’m using a network tag.
Which brings me onto the next one, join a network. Make a masterlist post first - even if you only have one story posted - and then check out networks that correlate to your preferred fanbase you’d like to get noticed by. You can generally find one for the group(s) you focus on or be more general based. If you’re writing for kpop, some good general networks are @kwritersworld and @kdiarynet ... but you’ll have to check if they’re open for new members. They tend to open applications regularly. By joining a network, even if the tagging searches on Tumblr fail you, your stories will be shared and reach your potential audience more easily.
Hit up other writers if you feel comfortable doing so. I can’t speak for others, but most of the writers I follow/support are supportive of each other and will help newbie writers out by reblogging their content. Don’t feel discouraged if some don’t, that might just be how they run their blog and that’s totally okay! But it’s worth a shot, in my opinion.
If you can, or want to that is, make it known what to expect from your blog. If you can post every Friday, let it be known. That way, people will be able to anticipate your blog’s updates. This isn’t necessary, but I did find it helped me tremendously when I made my schedule known.
This one is helpful for getting exposure and also for ideas - look for writing prompt blogs. That way you can tag the blog for credit and your story might be reblogged by that place, or if you use their specific tagging system, readers can find it. It’s also an awesome experience... you can get so inspired by some of the prompts out there. I know if I’m ever feeling stuck, I will go peruse a list of prompts and generally a story idea will stick out to me. Equally, and a bit of self-promoting here, you can try out the prompts on @challengingwords ... we share a prompt every fortnight and reblog all those who tag us in their stories - kpop related or not (so long as the tagging system works, ho hum).
As for writer’s block advice: when it comes to not knowing how to continue a story, the first thing I do is close the document and leave it for a week. Try writing something else so you feel like you’re being successful still. The more you focus on the problem, the more it becomes one. So I like to change focus for a bit, and allow myself to remove the negativity. If I come back to the story and I still cannot think of how to add to it, and I’ve reread the whole thing to see if I’m missing something, chances are, you need to ask yourself some big questions. Are you still envisioning things for the story? Can you see the end? Do you still love your characters? Did the last scene inspire you or do you not feel anything towards it? Generally, if you change something about what you last did, or step out the journey towards what you can see backwards on how you can get there, you should be able to find inspiration to continue it. If you can’t, then maybe now is not the time for the story and it’s best you put it on hiatus and either come back to it or let it go. I have unfinished stories that I know I’ll never finish and that’s okay. I focus on the ones I know I can finish instead. If you feel comfortable sharing your story during the process of writing it with a friend, do so. They might give insight that you can’t see due to being the creator. I often turn to my best friend/beta reader and complain about how difficult a scene or idea is being, and just talking it out with her can have me go “nevermind, I know what to do now!” or her advice can help me carry on.
I hope this helps and best of luck, anon. I do have a side-blog (shameless promotion pt2) @prettywordsyouwrite where I share tips and advice about writing when I feel the need to! Maybe there you will find some extra help.

Pillowfort Is Coming!!
hey yall PF is opening up to the public soon (was gonna be the 15th, they just announced theyre pushing it to the 25th) and I REALLY want people to follow me away to there instead of everyone exhausted by twitter just coming back to this.... place
I have 3 weekly invite links if anyone wants to get in pre-open to get their blog set up to be ready for the incoming noobs to follow!
WHAT IS IT THO?
oh, right, so pillowfort.social is a blogging platform much like tumblr. while its not yet at the slick polished stage of tumblr (tumblr has a several year advantage), it is already offering its users several things tumblr does not, such as:
NSFW/18+ content OK (within law, so no fuckin CP allowed ya creeps)
Blogs toggleable as NSFW, as well as INDIVIDUAL POST NSFW toggling
edits to the original post changes all reblogs of the post across the site--so no “fuck they reblogged my drawing already but i just noticed i fucked up and need to fix smth”
toggle reblog-ability and comment-ability per post
if u make smth unrebloggable after its already been reblogged, u can either let the old reblogs stay but be unreblogable any further, or delete all reblogs!)
choose who can view each post if u dont want it just public (only me, only mutuals, only followers, only logged in users)
toggle whether non-logged-in folks can see ur NSFW content (bless)
if multiple people/communities you follow reblog the same thing it compiles it into one post on ur dash so u dont scroll past the same thing 6 times
“communities”, which are basically like, uh, a group? so it has its own little discussion area and its own feed (that also shows up on ur dash ofc) but any group member can contribute, theyre themed on certain things...
for example, i made one for WoW Goblins specifically! :^)
there’s art communities for showing off your stuff to people who arent even following you, great way for artists to attract attention, theres LGBT+ communities, fandom communities, all sorts of stuff so u can find a nice user-made compilation of the kind of content you wanna see
tells u how many mutuals u have, and u can click to see a list of only ur mutual followers
replies on posts can be replied back to, encouraging conversations instead of just random comments (and letting artists thank ppl for saying nice things <3)
replies can also be “like”d!
filter the posts on a blog ur viewing to show only original posts or only reblogs
can put more than 10 images in a post (idk the limit, I have a post w 12 at least tho)
easy access toggle to if u wanna see nsfw on ur dash or not, so u can Safe It while ppl can see ur screen and switch back real quick later
u can put images in ur blog sidebar lol
only show notifs for replies, if u want that i guess
AND SO MUCH MORE I CANT REMEMBER OR MAYBE EVEN DONT KNOW ABOUT!
It also has stuff we like from tumblr, such as:
searchable tagging system
direct messaging (via inbox, not like the chatboxy tumblr IMs) that you can disallow based on follower/mutual status or disable entirely
blessed validating notes
images in text posts
Things they’re working on adding in the near future:
Sideblogs
More blog customization (atm it’s pretty minimal)
Queues & drafts
Whatever people ask for, pmuch*
*They listen to community feedback & recommendations for features, etc, adding things people WANT instead of random bullshit, and are much more responsive to users concerns than the cold corpo feel of tumblo

Aight so the discussion of attention on creative content in fandom has come up in my social sphere a couple times again lately (as it tends to do like, once a week lol) and I wanted to go over my.... understanding of the “way things work” on media platforms and such.
this got really really long and is a lot of words sorry if its hard to read!!! (i added some spacing to make it a little less rough on the eyes)
I don’t have any degree pertinent to like, social media or marketing or anything but I’ve been on tumblr specifically for..... yikes like.. 7.. maybe 8 years on and off? I’m not a fandom “elder” or anything, im fairly young and i dont have much history with like, fanfiction.net or the older forums and yada yada. So, take this all with that in mind.
Tumblr has changed a lot, but honestly, the content consumption... hasnt really. Only marginally. enough to be noticeable yes, but... its not anything that isnt... new, to me. Fans will find a way to find content. Ultimately, wether or not you get attention for your content, is ENTIRELY up to how much attention you want, and how hard you push to get it.
Now, that isnt me hoisting the “blame” on artists or writers, I’m just saying that the tools to get attention are in your ball park, consumers only have so many ways to reach you. So how carefully you utilize these tools is what determines the attention you get. Its a MARKET and you have to manipulate the shit out of it. Thats how this stuff works. Its awkward and unfortunate in a lot of ways... but it’s very much a game of strategy. If you want it to be. And I actually DONT do a lot of these things, because I swing wildly between wanting validation and wanting no one to ever interact with me ever again lmfao. And its a lot of work.
okay so, what are these tools?
1) Tags. (and search function) Probably the BIGGEST tool in your box that is stable and fairly consistent in the way it works. Tag your works with the intention of reaching the biggest audience. There are posts out there that will explain it more in depth, but with tumblr constantly changing how things work it’s a little hard to keep up with it... But basically;
first 5 tags are your most important, they are track-able, searchable, etc.
as long as there aren’t external (non tumblr) links in your post, the /SEARCH section of tumblr will catalog original posts both from their TAGS and their CAPTION CONTENT- this means if in this text box you write “cookies are great” but you only tag it with “#yaaas” and someone searches cookies, your post might show up! So a relevant CAPTION is just as important as those tags! Use both, with different words, to maximize searchability! I’d prioritize tags, because old-tumblr-folks might just manually go into /tagged/cookies because the search function is kind of annoying, and they wont see those caption tracked posts.
i think its 20 tags that your blog will have as searchable within your own blog, but honestly searching blogs has never been particularly reliable so, idk. As long as you go most to least relevant while tagging, youre on the right track.
also, dont tag ship hate or include tags that you DONT want your post in. INCLUDING caption if you can help it. This is why you see people sabotaging words with punctuation or awkward spacing, its to keep it out of the hands of search functions. (ie; being like “i love co.okies” or smthn.)
2) Timing. Unpredictable, hard to get used to, even less logical with new filter systems and shit. just... fucking.. idk. wing it. hope it works.  Basically my point here is usually; the note count on your post relies entirely on building a momentum. It needs to hit little “bursts” of notes often enough to keep it alive. If it dies right out of the gate... it can be hard to build that momentum. It works best when you JUST SO HAPPEN to get reblogged on the right blogs, at the right time. Theres not much you can do to like, ensure this happens. But its really one of those things that just.. if it happens, youre golden. if it doesnt..... well fuck. lol.
3) on that note; note count. For some odd reason, humans just seem less likely to reblog something with less notes. Which is ironic and frustrating. Once its built up a little cushion, its a lot easier for people to be like “oh, reblogging this isnt risky, ima do it! other people like it too!” it makes sense, but its also kind of funny and infuriating as a creator cause ur like U LIKE IT, JUST REBLOG IT???? but alas, humans are humans. So, boosting those smaller note count works is REALLY nice. Do it when you can. be the trend setter!!!
4) Direct Engagement. Building relationships is the like. fucking.... idk. pinnacle marketing strategy and just best thing in the whole world. Every single business class, marketing thing, anything trying to get attention, NEEDS a stable social circle. And as much as it is a manipulative marketing strategy, it is that BECAUSE thats what we need as PEOPLE, THAT is why it works. Make friends. Make friends naturally. Foster relationships. Try your damn hardest for it. I suck at this personally, im ridiculously antisocial. But like, commenting on other peoples works, saying hi, wishing people happy birthdays, just ENGAGING with people, directly feeds peoples happy meters. And if they like you, they are more likely to want to love and support you!! hell yea! all the love!! Which means, basically you can rely on those people to at least BOOST your stuff, even if they dont like it personally. which is an AMAZING THING. So yes. make friends. they’re great. I love the people who stick with me and try to be friends. and that isnt the sneaky marketing talking... im actually really bad at it so i cherish every single person who tries xD But yes this is highly effective. If you have enough friends, and they happen to be high profile friends even, you could magically get more notes then the best tagged work. miracles. i hate it. its hard. LOL.
5) Exploit trends and big fandoms. Like I said, if you want to be big... you can get really strategic about it. If you make work for a fandom that is ~500 active people strong (hannibal) or a fandom that is ~10,000 people strong.... you’re going to see a RIDICULOUS jump in activity. And im not saying like, you have to pretend to like stuff. I’m just sayingthat like, diversifying your content isnt always a bad idea. I segregate my fandom content off onto blogs because I like the organization, but if i was smart about it i WOULDNT. Because a blog that progresses through fandoms naturally will gain followers from every fandom that stick around. a lot will leave as you change fandoms, but a LOT will stay. Because assuming you’ve done the previous thing, they now look at you fondly. They like your work, your personality, your style. So they might tolerate art from other fandoms. And you’re fandoms might sync up again. so diversifying is a great way to build a strong following. and that goes not just for fandoms, but for in-fandom trends and stuff to. If you can manage to sneak in something that is relatable now and again, that is on the top of peoples radars, even if its cheesy, it adds a little burst of activity to your page. Keeps things fresh.
6) Keepin things fresh! Stagnation is a bitch to steady activity. Consistently, actively, posting content, even if its not like, your main attention getters, keeps people engaged. So if you can MANAGE TO. Posting like, a big art/fic a month, with a few smaller things every week, and a text post every day or so- will keep you in peoples heads. Out of sight, out of mind. If you’re around a lot, you’re feeding peoples brains positive associations (assuming you’re not posting negative stuff i guess) its like a “oh! hi! friend!” dose. Very effective at maintaining engagement on an individual level.
7) Reblog your work! especially with tumblrs new algorithms, its hard to catch everyone at a “prime time” so space out a few reblogs of your work, occasionally pop an old work back up with a “hey remember this” because you never know who is going to see it for the first time. Or maybe a second time, and realize they didnt reblog it before. Or maybe its their 4th time seeing it today but you’ve finally caught them at an awake enough moment theyre like “oh yea reblog button exists” (i do that a lot..... please spam me with your work im tired and forgetful) oR maybe they just REALLY LOVE that thing and will reblog it AGAIN because YES.
8) on that, also, post to other platforms! Works best if you actually stagger the posts. I dont cause i forget to post shit if i do but. yea. Also, cross linking. Not necessarily on the post itself, but having CLEAR OBVIOUS links to places you WANT people to go, on your various platforms is VERY VERY SMART. Be that including your twitter on your tumblr, or a shop, or whatever. Make it as EASY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE for viewers to be intrigued by other things that are YOU.
9) Do! What! You! Love! Fandom content is an easy in. People love the characters already, they KNOW stuff about those characters, they have head cannons, emotional connections. So that ground work is already done. BUT!!! if you’re making anything that ISNT already an established, well loved thing, YOU have to build up that relationship. Which means you cant just draw your original character standing there giving a thumbs up one time and expect people to love them.  You love them, because you KNOW them. So you gotta let your audience know them!!! which means drawing their personality, their history, how they interact with people and things, what makes them so lovable?! people want! to! know!!!! Its rough but its literally like building a friendship between you and another human, you have to do the same thing with your characters. they have to have substance! intractability!  It applies to things that arent characters too, like, if you display and explain your love for something, people are out there who want to share that vibe. You just gotta be loud and be proud and just fuckin go for it.
//end// my attention span is officially fried though so i might come back and add more later.... but i gotta give up on this for now cause my train of thought just crashed completely lol.
point being; you can manipulate your market if you pay attention! Or you can also not. Cause it is hard sometimes. But seriously like, attention on your “products” has VERY LITTLE to do with the quality or effort put into the work itself, and a lot more with how effectively you manipulate people. I mean look at how shitty products sell in the real life market place. half of them are garbage. but you get brand loyalty and being strategic and sneaky and like, suddenly every damn person needs it. So why not do the same with your PROBABLY GOD DAMN AMAZING products.
