#i feel bad for yona
Text
My question
Yona wants to go save Shin-ah and the rest, but Su-Won wants to proceed forward regardless of how the dragons are doing or how the Earth Tribe is doing (he seems in a rush dude, he has no timeeeee)
Not to mention, I just feel like he’s starting to lose Geun-tae as an ally........ idk....
And then... Yona is very tense because everyone is now relying on her to lead troops, and wants her to stay leading, but she doesn’t want to.
And then... Hak finds Su-Won out suffering from the crimson illness dressed in incognito clothes like he was out going somewhere....
Why is Su-Won sicker? That’s the question for me right now. Like, he’s not able to continue towards his goal because Hiryuu’s soul doesn’t want it (Yona wants to go save the dragons, not command the rest but her vow to support Su-Won’s campaign isn’t letting her act freely) and thus is making him sicker???
There was Zeno’s promise to Su-Won in the castle where Su-Won falls asleep due to how tired he is, and then Zeno’s like “nothing will go as you wish, but there will come a time where I’ll grant your wish, even if I turn my back on the gods” which is really important I feel.

yona isn‘t selfish at all. she‘s literally self-sacrificial to a fault. zeno taking away the dragon‘s agency and deciding that yona needs to kill him shows how desperate he is. yona isn‘t deciding anything over his head, she literally tells him 'we will find another way together' giving him another path forward, but zeno can‘t even see the choice she offers, because he has been waiting for the crimson dragon‘s return and believes his salvation comes in form of a sword through his heart. if you wait thousands of years for one singular blow, you won‘t be able to hear beyond your heart pounding in your ears.
yona isn‘t selfish. she isn‘t deciding over anyone‘s head. that‘s literally what zeno does. kija didn‘t want to leave yona and hak, sinha didn‘t want to leave yoon, and jaeha didn‘t even want to be a dragon at all.
i think, in the end, yona will give all of them a choice.

Hak says all this and still brutally oversimplifies whatever Suwon did...
Ig that is his..dilemma? His conflict? Whenever an outsider makes suwon look like a tyrant he's the first person to correct them..and yet the moment he sees Suwon there, all the understanding goes out of the window and he releases his pent up frustration at the betrayal...that is just my take tho..

If you'd like to, could you make a fat positive drawing? An idea for a saying could be "Fat bodies are good bodies" or "Fat is not a bad word." Preferably not with Pinkie Pie since she's usually the only character drawn fat due to stereotypes. There's sadly almost no fat representation in media in general, including in MLP canon or fan art. So something like this would be great!
Tumblr media
Hope you don’t mind I used Yona for this! 💕
I feel like this is something she would say and try to encourage others that there is nothing wrong with your body! Every body type is valuable and worthy of love and respect, regardless of its shape or size. 💕

౨ৎConcealing Feelings ୭˚. ᵎᵎ
Lloyd was laying on your bed with you, your legs tangled together as you were reading Yona of the Dawn.
You look over for the hundredth time at Lloyd, he has been on that same page of Starfairer for almost ten minutes you knew he wasn’t reading.
“Is something on your mind?” you tilt your head at your friend also crush, it’s been a few weeks since you kissed Lloyd’s cheek. It took a while for you to look him in the eyes after the incident, every time you did sneak in glances, you’d see his face pink with blush.
Seeing that reaction made you comfortable to try and talk to him again, feeling hopeful that Lloyd harbors some type of feelings for you.
But your mind kept pulling you back finding reasons as to why Lloyd could never like you like that, you guys were just friends!
“Huh? Oh, yea no I’m fine” Lloyd lifts as he looks down at your legs tangled in his.
There it was! that cute blush on his cheeks!
Lloyd didn’t sound too convincing to your question though...
You hum eyeing him suspiciously, you knew Lloyd for a long time to know when something is upsetting him.
“Really I’m fine, (y/n), what volume is that?” Lloyd changes the subject as he points to your book. “It’s volume eleven of Yona of the Dawn, but this isn’t about my book, if you’re bored, we can do something else.”
You move your legs much to Lloyd’s disappointment. “No no! I wanna hang out with you!” Lloyd covers his mouth embarrassed by his outburst. You giggle, “I didn’t say for us to do our own things, we can just do something else.”
Lloyd scratches the back of his head as he nods, “oh, oh yea, that sounds like a good idea” Lloyd smiles as you both stand. “You wanna go and see a movie?” You suggest as you both make your way out the door.
“Hmm, not bad, how about some window shopping? Aren’t you looking for a new jacket?” You gasp, “yea yea! I was! It’s getting colder and I want something big!” Lloyd chuckles and nods.
“Alright then let’s go to the mall that’s close by, it’s walking distance so we can head out now?” you suggest, Lloyd shoves his hands into his green jacket. “Sounds good, let’s go-“ “wait! Lemme go change, oki?” Lloyd stops and stares at you. “For real? You look fine” Lloyd lifts a brow as you continue back to your room. “I’ll look better with a comb through my hair, and you could use a brushing too~” you sass as Lloyd rolls his eyes brushing his hand through his hair.
“Please, this is iconic~” you both laugh, “fine, just wait here oki?” You lean against the door looking up a Lloyd. The more you look at him the more you feel he’s getting taller than you.
His teasing glint marks your face as you stare back up at him your grin turns to a swooning smile.
If your eyes could, Lloyd would be seeing hearts in them.
“I gotta change Lloyd..” you trail off looking at his cheek to where you kissed him on, this moment reminding you of the night where you kissed him.
“Yea, just-can I look at you for a little longer?” Lloyd’s voice was quiet, but you heard him. Your heart was beating fast your tummy turned as butterflies floated inside,
“O-oki..” both your eyes land on each other’s lips.
There was then a shuffle, it was quiet that you didn’t hear. But Lloyd did, it made him jump and look back, that broke you from your trance as your face exploded with red.
“S-sorry!” You slam the door shut in a hurry; your heart felt as though it’ll jump from your chest.
Lloyd stands on the other side, he was so close!
Glaring to his left to the empty hallway he raises a brow. “I thought you guys were supposed to help not be a hindrance” Lloyd grumpily pouts as Kai pops his head out.
“Hah, blame Jay for that one..” Kai points to Jay’s guilty face who comes around the corner followed by Cole and Zane.
“What! Cole pushed me! I lost my balance!” Jay tries to defend himself as the boys shake their heads in disappointment.
“But you were so close to kissy kissy, Lloyd~” Kai smooshes his cheeks to pucker his face making kissing noises.
Lloyd had to stop himself from blushing, so he didn’t make the teasing a hundred times worst.
For weeks Lloyds brothers have been pushing y’all together, from choosing you two to go on partner missions. To being left alone at home, or tripping both of you up to physical contact.
Lloyd’s heart was on a roller coaster as he felt that he had to look over his shoulders to make sure his brothers weren’t scheming anything.
“I think I’m gonna do this myself, I appreciate your guys’ help, but you guys are too much” Lloyd rolls his eyes as his brother’s mouths hanged.
“Too much?! Might I remind you I was the one who got you two cuddling on the couch!” Kai rebuttals as the rest shush him for being too loud,
“Uh yea, that was after you scared (y/n) into thinking there were ghost! We were watching a horror movie I felt like her nails were digging into my skin like a cat.” Lloyd grimaced as much as he loved the contact the pain was a bit much.
“Okay Okay, what about Jay, when he got you guys that date?”
“You mean when Jay sucked horribly as a waiter?” Lloyd lifts a brow as the boys stare a Jay,
“wh-hat? I thought I could take a bite from their food. I was hungry” the boys groan as Kai continues to defend themselves.
“Zane! Buddy, please tell me you helped!” “I calculated scenarios that would be appropriate for romantical reciprocation of feelings.”
“Uh yea Zane if you lived in the 1950’s. I don’t think you’re up to date on romance stuff.” Lloyd crosses his arms as Kai looks to Cole,
“And before you ask, Cole just shoved me into (y/n)” Kai glowers at him as Cole shrugs.
“My parents bumped into each other, and now I’m here.” Cole answers as if it helped.
“Thanks guys but I think I got it, (y/n) and I are going to the mall, and maybe see a movie. So, I’m just gonna let things happen.”
“But that’s so boring!” Kai pouts as Lloyd chuckles and walks away from his brothers to wait for you in the gaming room. However you were having your own chat with an unexpected visitor.
As after you closed the door on Lloyd cursing at the universe for taking away your romantic moment that you have only dreamed about. A voice pops from behind you,
“Wow you were not kidding when you said you liked him. There was so much romantic tension I thought you two were gonna suck faces.”
“Ack-Nya!?” you shout flustered at the sudden guest.
“H-how long have you been there?!” you push your back against the door as if trying to sink through as the older women chuckles standing from your bed.
“Long enough for me to feel that I had to hide under the bed, gosh (y/n) you both are like lovesick puppies” Nya walks over to you, noticing your distance she gives a supportive smile.
“Am I wrong for pushing my feeling even though you told me not to?” you couldn’t look at Nya feeling ashamed as if you betrayed her.
“No, its normal to love someone (y/n), I just only told you that because Lloyd was going through a lot at the time.”
You finally look up as Nya places a hand on your shoulder,
“It’s oki to have feelings for him, you guys have known each other since you were kids, I wasn’t surprised when you told me” Nya chuckles again as you blush smiling.
“If you truly love Lloyd, you should confess, I’m sure Lloyd feels the same” Nya winks as she grabs the door handle.
You finally snap out of your thoughts as you look up at Nya again,  “W-wait! How do you know Lloyd likes me?” Nya pauses before she smiles.
“Who knows, I guess you’ll just have to find out~” Nya opens the door walking out to see the boys.
“You knuckleheads suck at advice you know that?” Nya places a hand on her hip as the guys look to Nya surprised at her sudden entrance.
“Woah sis, what are you doing here?”
“Hi, Nya~” Jay swoons making Kai vomit, but he swallows it down to hear Nya.
“Just helping out, unlike you guys.” Nya squints pointing to Kai,
“Lloyd told me about all of your schemes, geez Kai, you’d think with all the girls you talk to you’d finally pick up on something about them” Nya huffs at her older brother as his jaw dropped,
“You were the one giving Lloyd advise?” Nya rolls her eyes, “duh, I’m the only one with a proper brain around here” she walks away leaving the guys dumbfounded.
“Ugh, sisters” Kai sighs in defeat as he walks to his room,
“She’s the best~” Jay swoons as Coles grabs his shirt leading him away as Zane follows.
“I should update my knowledge of todays romance from Nya, she seems very wise.”
Cole smiles rolling his eyes at the nindroid, “yea buddy you do that.”
You dressed into a new outfit, Nya was right, if you loved Lloyd you should confess!
But what if it goes wrong? What if you trip?!
No, it’ll go fine, Nya said that Lloyd might feel the same way so what’s the worst that could happen?
“Yea, I’ll confess!” you grab your bag giving one last look in the mirror before leaving.
You scan the hallway as you look for Lloyd,
“Lloyd! Lloyd where are you?” you hum as you walked around.
You hear sliding of doors behind you seeing your sensei,
“Oh, (y/n) what a surprise” sensei Wu walks out cane in hand, most likely meditating in his room.
“Ah, sensei! Have you seen Lloyd? We’re going out and I can’t find him.”
“Hm, I have not seen my nephew, but I wasn’t aware that you two have already confessed. I’m surprised” Wu strokes his beard a smile on his lips as he notices your flustered face.
“Wha-n-no it’s just as friends it’s not like that!”
“Oh, just as friends?”
You look back to see Lloyd had entered the hall, “ye-yea, we’re friends Lloyd so it’s obvious we’d go out as just that!” your rambles continue not noticing Lloyds sadden face.
“h-hey what’s wrong?” your rambling stops as you finally catch a sight of Lloyd.
“oop gotta go” the old man hobbles away as you and Lloyd look to each other, until you finally realize.
“O-oh no Lloyd I didn’t mean it like tha-“
“N-no it’s fine, you’re right we are friends, so let’s go out that way.” Lloyd smiles but you knew it was forced,
“W-wait Lloyd-“
“c’mon (y/n) let’s go before the mall gets packed.”
And with that Lloyd left, you weren’t sure why you didn’t just keep talking telling him that you truly didn’t mean what you said. That you saw Lloyd as more than just a friend, but for some reason you kept quiet as you both walk quietly to the mall. Lloyds hands stuffed in his pocket as he looks off in the distance, you can’t help but look at him, did you hurt him? Was he sad because he saw you as more than a friend?
“Lloyd”
“Hey we’re here.”
“Lloyd! Don’t ignore me!” you grab his arm grabbing his attention, you did sound a bit harsh, and Lloyd caught on to that just as fast as you did.
“Lloyd, please talk to me..” your voice now quiet as you lower your hand, “did I hurt you?” Lloyd was still quiet it made you nervous.
“I just, can I have a moment please?” Lloyd looks back at you,
What was happening?
How fast your guy’s mood changed was weird, you slowly let go as Lloyd walks away, “I’ll meet you in the clothing department, oki?” all you could do was nod your head as Lloyd walked away.
Now here you were walking by yourself, this wasn’t going as planned,
You sigh as you browse around not really paying much attention as your thoughts were on Lloyd.
Was it because I snapped at him? Was I truly that harsh? Your heart spiked in speed with anxiety. Was it my words earlier? Did I ruin my chances with Lloyd?
You think back to every romance drama in your manga, ridiculing every conflict that could have been easily dealt with from the main love interests.
You had to find Lloyd; you can’t let him sit in those feelings if you can help explain what you meant.
You look around taking a random direction as you try and find Lloyd, “L-Lloyd! Lloy-oof” you bump into someone holding your head you quickly apologized.
“Woah, its my lucky day, hey cutie~” you stare confused at the guy that for some reason knew you.
You look up feeling your stomach drop,
It was the guy from the comic shop!
“I see you left your boyfriend huh, realized there’s better?” the guy was talking to a wall as you turn away and start walking ignoring the guy.
“woah woah, wait come bac-“
“Leave me alone!” your voice was firm as you glare at the guy he stopped as you continue walking, feeling victorious you smile.
Until you feel a tight grip on your wrist and slammed against a wall,
Your senses were shaken up as the back of your head harshly hit the wall.
“Who the hell do you think you’re talking to?” his hands gripped your upper arm trapping you under him, the harsh scent of his cologne was the only thing getting to you as his grip got tighter.
“Hey, I’m talking to yo-What?!” the guy looks back at someone tugging on his shirt agitated until he got a face full of fist seeing someone punch him in the face as the guy lands on the floor.
You look down in shock, seeing the guy was knocked out with a broken nose,
You finally come back to your senses as you look up.
It was Lloyd, he huffed panting mostly from anger as his eyes glowed red. His hair over his eye as he composes himself using one of his hands to push his cowlick back letting it fall out of his face.
He finally looks to you his eyes going soft as he gives you his hand, you take it, and he leads you out to the exit in silence.
When you both got to a secluded spot Lloyd stops and looks at you,
“I’m sorry” he was quiet as he reaches over to touch the back of your head, a tiny bump laid on where you hit your head he glares at the floor.
“Lloyd, I’m so sorry.” You look down as Lloyd’s face softens,
“You don’t have to apologize.”
“But I yelled at you!” your emotions came flooding as your voice cracked, sniffling you continue.
“I like you Lloyd, I really really like you, I hated it when you ignored me, I hated the fact that I made you upset. I’m so so sorry” you hiccup holding yourself in self comfort.
Lloyd was quiet, “I shouldn’t have ignored you I was wrong for that, I didn’t like it when you said that we were just friends, the thought of you with other guys. And only being seen as a friend, just the thought alone…” Lloyd stops himself as he pulls you into his chest, there was the silence again as he held you letting your cry. When you finally calmed down Lloyd grips your shirt,
“You smell…”
You jump at his sudden unexpected blunt observation,
“wha-“ your voice was soft but he heard you.
“You smell like him…” Lloyd’s voice was quiet yet gravely making your stomach do flips, his mouth close to you as each warm breath landed on your blushing ears.
Lloyd pulls away as he takes off his green jacket, leaving him in his tight fitted white shirt, he wraps his arms around you pulling the jacket over your form. Almost engulfing you as his jacket surrounded you like a weighted blanket, it was so soft, it smelled just like him.
Unconsciously you take his sleeve that laid over your hand lifting it to your nose, you take a small sniff letting Lloyd’s scent calm your nerves. You look up at Lloyd, with puffy eyes, tear streaks down your cheeks and a plumped bottom lip from chewing on it. You blush as Lloyd’s own flustered face met yours,
Dammit, Lloyd really needed to invest in a camera. He looks away his red eyes glowing as he covers his growing smile as his blush got worst, Lloyd enjoyed the way you looked in his hoodie.
“d-do you like me, Lloyd?” your voice was quiet as you covered you mouth over Lloyd’s sleeve as if trying to stop yourself from embarrassing yourself any further.
You hear Lloyd chuckle as he gives a toothy smile, looking up you see his dull fangs and blushing face, he looked so handsome you couldn’t help but share the same smile.
“Is that even a question?” You got your answer, but you wanted a little bit more of a confirmation. Your flustered face was evident as you continue to stare at Lloyd,
“Can you say it anyways?” Lloyd chuckles once again,
“I like you (y/n) I love you so much.” Lloyd cups your face in his large hands. You grab his hands and lean up to peck a quick kiss to his lips, Lloyd huffs as he brings you back.
Your lips connect again as your eyes widen seeing a playful glint in Lloyds red eyes before closing them to feel your lips over his.
Your own close after his feeling the world go quiet giving you two your moment together of intimacy,
Soon Lloyd pulls away to inhale a shaky breath watching you catch your breath as well.
Both your faces were red if it wasn’t already obvious, smiles planted on your faces as you both pull away fully hand in hand walking back to the monastery.
“Did Nya talk to you?” breaking the comfortable silence you grin as Lloyd smiles looking away,
“I got tired of the guys shoving me into you.” Lloyd laughs as you gasp,
“I knew something was wrong with them! Cole never shoves me!” you huff as you recalled past occurrences connecting them back to your brothers.
“Dummies.” You mutter as Lloyd chuckles,
“It was fun though, I can’t lie I liked catching you whenever they would trip you~” Lloyd teased making you roll your eyes, “I bet” you playfully push him.
Your hands stayed locked together continuing your quiet stroll back home.
You gasp as you stop, “I didn’t buy a jacket!” you try to run back making an escape like last time until Lloyd pulls you back.
He silently points to the jacket already on you as you look down following his finger, “b-but this is your jacket…” you trail as your blush returns.
Lloyd rolls his eyes, “our jacket~” he grins as he wraps his arm around your shoulder pulling you into him as he walks forcing you to already follow.
You smile under him as you wrap your arms around his chest, “I like like you Lloyd” you close your eyes letting Lloyd lead you hearing his chest rumble as he snickers.
“I like like you too (y/n)~”

The four Sages were called back into the past by Terrako and they remember it happening
Tulin got to meet his hero, Revali, and decided to be just like him, adopting his idol’s brash personality and drive. He practises Revali’s Gale and eventually comes up with his own way to show off his mastery of wind, and when trouble hits his home he rushes to fix it on his own to prove how strong he has become and because, like Revali, he can’t stand idly by while he knows there’s still things he can do.
For Yunobo, when he goes back and meets his ancestor Daruk, he is a very timid and reactive Goron. He needs a push from others to come up with ideas and carry plans through, and when bad things happen to him his first instinct is to use his fire magic as a shield, to wait until the threat has passed by or somebody else has come to save him. But when he is sent back in time to Divine Beast vah Rudania, for the first time he has to be the one doing the saving. Daruk encourages Yunobo and is proud of him from the moment they meet, and it’s this support that gives Yunobo the confidence to help fight against Calamity Ganon, and to start YunoboCo when he gets home.
For Sidon, meeting his family from 100 years ago is bittersweet. He is proud that he was able to protect his sister, and it’s a comfort to know there is a version of him who will grow up alongside Mipha because of his bravery and fighting prowess. But as much joy as he got from seeing her, hugging her, and hearing her voice again, it just reminds him of how unfair her death was, of just how young she was when she died and how he is now older even though he’s the younger sibling. And at the end of the war, when he’s returned to their original time, he has to readjust to her absence all over again, and in light of that is it really a shock he’d have her statue moved further away from his home? And it also explains why he’s so desperate to protect Yona from the sludge.
Riju in AoC still a new ruler to her people, despite her accomplishments in BotW, she still feels guilty over the temporary loss of the Thunder Helm and isn’t sure if she can lead the Gerudo. She has a lot of confidence but is quick to falter when things go wrong. Urbosa treats Riju as a capable fighter despite her young age, and teaches her that she should never give up, to keep trying even when her resolve falters. There is always something you can do, even when it’s just stalling for time until help can arrive. Urbosa guides her in mastering the Thunderhelm, and possibly begins teaching her to summon lightning herself after Kohga attempts to steal it, and at the end of their time together Urbosa tells Riju she’s certain she’ll lead the Gerudo well. Riju treasured her time being mentored by Urbosa so much that she considers what Urbosa would do during the Upheaval in her diary in TotK.
I think the entire reason Tulin was added to the DLC was because the TotK team had already decided that Tulin was going to be the Sage of Wind, and that since the other sages were going to meet their Champions Tulin had to as well.
At some point in the years between Botw and TotK Teba, Tulin, Sidon, Yunobo, Riju and Patricia were summoned back in time by Terrako to aid the Champions during the Calamity, and even though those events took place in a parallel timeline and had no bearing on the world they returned to, the Sages’ personalities at the beginning of TotK are because of their experiences during the Calamity and the bonds they made with the Champions.
#totk#totk spoilers#botw#riju#yunobo#sidon#tulin#aoc zelda#age of calamity#bonus thought i cbb to make into it’s own post for all the tag reading girlies:#since the light dragon is canonically present during the calamity because zelda was sent back thousands of years..#technically the light dragon is present for both botw!calamity and the aoc!calamity#and there is now a timeline in which totk!ganondorf will emerge in a completely different way because of timeline shenanigans#and there are two zeldas except one of them is a dragon#my belief is that in the aoc!verse since you can play as calamity ganon a part of it survived and like. it’s main goal is to find a way#to excavate the cave it’s creator is in and like maybe it lures link and zelda down there or maybe nobody even notices until it’s too late#idk. because there weren’t two zeldas in the past the aoc!zelda can’t travel back in time so like. either her character development means#her secret stone manifests her light powers instead of her time powers or she never gets the secret stone idk#what’s important is that aoc’s version of totk in my head takes place a few years after the calamity and by the end of it the light dragon#turns back into zelda and suddenly there are two zelda’s who are practically twins and this alternate time-twisted botw!zelda gets to see#the champions and her father again at the cost of losing her link and her friends in the future and having no idea whether her original tim#line is safe or not. and link gets to doublewield the master swords or smth.#if we’re keeping the aoc-style gameplay rauru is one of the jokey-warriors like the great fairies were and it’s just his arm and like. mayb#a bit of his shoulder or something because it’s 100 years ago and there’s a bit more of him left

The Crimson illness is a consequence of the "POWER OF GOD"
Thanks to @thoughtfulstudentsalad post...there came a little idea to me...
I make the following claims:
1.All the descendants that have died due to the Crimson Illness possess a special ability...a magic like power that stemmed from King Hiryuu´s godhood.
2.And so the Dragon Gods called only half of them to heaven...as not everybody of the descendants possessed that special power.
3. Even King Hiryuu died due to his body not being able to withstand this power
4. The flaws in logic in the narrative are no flaws, but can be explained by this theory.
5. The Dragon Gods manipulated everybody in order for Yona to come back to heaven...I mean literally everybody...
Let´s begin.
1.King Hiryuu and some of his descendants possess the POWER OF GODS
The power of King Hiryuu is even mentioned at the beginning of the manga...when Iksuu tells Yona a story...
THE POWER OF AUTHORITY
The features of that POWER OF AUTHORITY
The POWER OF AUTHORITY influences the feelings and the impression of the person that has the bad luck to be within a certain distance of said godly descendant or reincarnation. They want to follow them...
The POWER fucks with their feelings and minds...it rewires them...
Tumblr media
Of course Yona possesses the greatest POWER OF AUTHORITY.
Literally...That is the reason, why people lose their fucking brains, when Yona is in action...because she rewires their brains...
And they want to follow her, they love her...even Soo Won´s brain is rewired...he loves Yona´s red hair...after all...Even though he hates King Hiryuu...
Yona beats Soo Won regarding that power, she is the reincarnation after all...but let´s say...but to that I come later...
People are drawn to her so easily, if she wishes it...that seems to be the crux...
Tumblr media
The power only seems to kick in, if the descendant/reincarnation absolutely wishes for it.
The person has eye contact with the reincarnation/descendant...There is a reason, why Soo Won´s and Yona´s eyes are mentioned so often.....
The POWER OF AUTHORITY is not infallible: I come later to that.
The POWER OF AUTHORITY draws out the leadership of strong people who have the ability to lead as well...
I just say...Tae Jun (Yona) and Lily (Soo Won)
The power most likely has no good influence on people with a weak mind...KIng Hiryuu was captured after all...
Proof that it really is a magic ability
Yona mentions herself later that her blood was burning...Where do we have a bond or power based on blood? The bond of the dragon warriors...It is Yona using magic...on Tae Jun...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soo Won is the SUPER-DESCENDANT of HIryuu
I think with the meeting of his parents we can savely assume:
Soo Won´s birth was fated.
If the Dragon Gods really did not intend for him to be born, he simply wouldn´t have.
But Soo Won was necessary for their scheme.
With only half the descendants dying I can assume, that not every descendant had the power of authority...but Yon hi had it...just like her father... and the magic worked on Yu hon...who did not believe in the power of the gods...The power of authority is a charme as well, after all...Maybe there was even a reason, why they met, when Yon hi was attacked...maybe she wished to be rescued...
Yon hi barely used her power, but she still died pretty soon...so it is likely that she harbored a very strong power herself, but was too afraid to really use it.
Of couse she would protect Yona, the queen bee with the strongest power from her son...but let´´s look at Soo Won...
Hak correctly recorgnized that Soo Won was literally born to lead...
Hak realized that power of authority...and was infatuated with Soo Won...
Tumblr media
"He has some kind of power that reels people in"...
Just to be clear...I will later explain, why I assume this:
The POWER OF AUTHORITY cannot really create love...that means Hak loves Yona really as he does like Soo Won. Strong feelings beat the POWER OF AUTHORITY.
Soo Won was used as pawn of the gods
Not just Soo Won, basically all people are used for that purpose. KIng Il was told from the day, basically that boy was born that he would kill him one day...that absolutely destroyed every possibility for Soo Won´s power to have an effect on KIng Il....
King Il strong feelings of fear nullified Soo Won´s power...Maybe there was a reason King Il feared speaking with Soo Won...if Soo Won really possesses this power, King Il was maybe afraid that he had an effect on him?
There is another example of strong feelings nullifying the POWER OF the GODS: Zeno
Zeno was able to even attack Hak and Yona and having a plan that went against the wishes of the Dragon Gods...Because his desperation was already big enough...
Hak basically also wanted to kill Soo Won...
I guess that King Il knew of the POWER OF AUTHORITY...and maybe he also knew that Soo Won possessed it as well...
King Il reeled Soo Won´s feelings up on the day he was murdered. Most likely he wanted to die a martyr for the cause...since Soo Won´s determination and hate was necessary to have a stronger POWER OF AUTHORITY than Yona...at least for a certain time. And to induce the POWER OF AUTHORITY in Yona and to make her desperate enough to let it grow and grow.
By the way, I show you the moment Soo Won´s power kicked in...maybe not for the first time...but it skyrocked ...on the night after his father was murdered.
Tumblr media
Do you see it...how Soo Won moves the flammes...His feelings and determination are great enough...to use the power in his blood. To make his blood boil...Just like Yona´s.
I do make the claim that it was necessary for Soo Won to have a "POWER OF AUTHORITY" stronger than Yona for a certain time..
because he drove her out and made her assume her own power...without Soo Won this would have not happened. And he had to go against her wishes and will to do so.
His determination was strong enough...due to his own pain...Strong feelings break the POWER OF AUTHORITY after all...even in Yona´s case.
So Soo Won pushed forward and rescued with HHB´s help the country...and he was using and using his ability...
Soo Won has an influence on the Dragon Warriors
There are certain factors that make me believe that Soo Won is basically the descendant with the strongest POWER OF AUTHORITY currently alive...
Soo Won resembles King Hiryuu like no other person besides Yona herself...from his love to people, his determination...
His determination is big enough to use his full potential: Soo Won´s trauma made him basically cut out everything that could distract his attention from his big task.
His birth cannot be an accident, his father was a charismatic as well and his mother a descendant...
Soo Won is the only descendant that has a similar effect on the dragon warriors than Yona...
It is not the same...however
a) When Hak wants to attack Soo Won, Jae ha protects Soo Won ...more for Hak´s sake...but still...
b) Kija wanted to take revenge, but is unable to even lift a finger...against Soo Won
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"And yet why can´t I move"
And there is proof that it was the power that prevented this...
Tumblr media
Here Kija´s heart is accelerating, when Soo Won touches him...
And Shin ha´s reaction is also interesting...you know the one, who Soo Won claimed to have hated him...
Tumblr media
"I didn´t get a bad feeling. He gives off an air that is quiet and strong. And he has eyes from which you cannot look away."
Tumblr media
Shin ha does not appear to hate Soo Won so greatly as Soo Won thought he did...But what did happen then? Why did Shin ha attack Soo Won?
This explanation is given in the latest chapter...
Tumblr media
"I never thought that I wanted to die"
Soo Won wanted to die at that moment due to his immense guilt...It is interesting, but Soo Won mentioned giving his life a couple of times...even at the beginning, after he killed King Il he talks about "giving his life for his father´s sake"...in Awa he is "ready to give Yona his life"...And in the last chapter he tells us, that helping Hak is his last task as a king.
I guess the guilt made him at times suicidal...there is the small possibility that Soo Won can actually command the dragon warriors in certain times...Soo Won himself commanded Shin ha to kill him, but he couldn´t - Soo Won was still protected. Soo Won did not need much power, Shin ha´s feelings were already at a disarray but ..Soo Won felt relieved, when he was attacked. His wish to die at that moment was huge.
Shin ha can instill fear and terror in others, but cannot make others wish to commit suicide...so it was Soo Won´s own wish.
Yona and Hak did not absolve him of his life after all...
Tumblr media
So it does appear...that Soo Won has a little influence on the dragon warriors...His power seems to be so strong at least...that Zeno asked him the question, when they met for the second time..
Tumblr media
"Do you desire the four dragon warriors?"
As far as I remember, Soo Won is the only descendant Zeno has ever asked the question...if Soo Won had no influence on the dragon warriors, the question would be pointless.
After Xing Yona´s POWER OF AUTHORITY surpassed Soo Won´s even with his iron will
The chapter 141 is called "influence" for a reason...
In Xing it is apparent...that Yona is using her "POWER OF AUTHORITY" on Soo Won...
Tumblr media
But why can´t I move?
Similiarily to Kija, Soo Won is frozen...Both Yona and him have eye contact...
Suddenly...Soo Won remembers King Il that told him of Yona being the reincarnation...
Soo Won refused to acknowledge the gods..but he feels the POWER OF AUTHORITY on his own skin...
I really want to know...how big Yona´s massive power is...Lily came to "rescue her"...but was this really an accident or did Yona "call her"?
Soo Won with all his determination has failed here...
Maybe that Yona is able to find the correct words in those situations is also due to that power, she possesses.
It is not just simple magic, but it also seems to create ideal situations for reaching that goal..This power fucks with the brain and feelings ot the people, but not to a degree that is completely ridiculous...people that hate Yona, won´t suddenly love her...
But she might find the correct words to persuade people, where there is a chance...or having a high intelligence as it is necessary for a leader...
However Yona´s power isn´t infallible either...as it is the case with the dragon warriors...people are creedy and people desire the power of gods...
sometimes she does not have that iron will to assume the POWER OF AUTHORITY...even though right now, she is pretty fired up and determined..the reason, why her power seems to be at a maximum.
I even wonder if the idea with the lightning of the beacon...if Yona had a hunch that something like this would really happen...as she seemed to have some kind of foresight as well...
3. Even King Hiryuu died due to his body not being able to withstand this power
King Hiryuu seemed to have become a human being as a grown men...because at the beginning...he tells the dragon warriors...that he "is already human"...As if he was not too long ago still a dragon god.
Tumblr media
King Hiryuu used the The POWER OF AUTHORITY...he must have used it for years...even with the protection of the dragon gods...
Tumblr media
At least King Hiryuu contracted the Crimson Illness..."his body was getting worn out"...but it isn´t due to age...that is bullshit. King Hiryuu is at most 40 years in this picture...
It was most likely his never-ending use of the POWER OF AUTHORITY that has worn him out...because Hiryuu had to battle much during his life...
And maybe it was even him being tired of battling...his determination might have broken down at last...
Maybe @thoughtfulstudentsalad is right...maybe it was not just the power alone that Soo Won used...but his horrible state of his mind...King Hiryuu let him doubt and his determination was weakened...
And Soo Won grew sicker and sicker...but i guess...using a gods power in a human body, might also add to that burden...
5. The Dragon Gods manipulated everybody in order for Yona to come back to heaven...I mean literally everybody...
I mean literally anybody...
Yu hon was shown a charismatic wife that would lead to have him a son with the powers of a god.
Even the priests that were slaughtered and that instilled a hate in King Il and Kashi...making them their nice little pawns to sacrifice in order to instill the POWER OF AUTHORITY in Yona..
King Il was made scared madly of Yu hon and Soo Won and that lead to him committing the murder...that really fired Soo Won up to assume his own POWER OF AUTHORITY..and Soo Won was the one who drove Yona to develop hers...that helped her to see...and now Yona possesses the strongest POWER OF AUTHORITY...
And at the end..Soo Won makes Yona queen and she will use her POWER of AUTHORITY and contract the Crismon Illness as well over time...
But that would most likely not lead to Yona coming back to heaven...
Therefore they used the dragon warriors and especially Zeno...2000 years are enough for Zeno nearly becoming mad...his desperation broke the bond partly...so that he could drive home the message to Yona to help him...and return to heaven...Especially since the other dragon warriors are taken hostage as well...
King HIryuu loved the dragon warriors and human beings after all...
Mos likely Yona fell into a trap.

Letting go - Chapter 259
Tumblr media
One thing this chapter makes me think about a lot is, what does "letting go" really mean? Is it something to absolutely aim for? and where does Hak position himself in relation to it today?
Hak is worried above all about the dragons right now, but we know well that he's also making a reference to his experience with Soo-won here. After all, even if Zeno did talk about forgetting them, he never said anything about "letting go" specifically. To let go is however very much something he said word for word about Soo-won in the past (chapter 153). If it wasn't already obvious enough, Hak in his turn makes the parallel between what happened with Soo-won and what is happening now with Zeno.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The end of chapter 153 hinted that even if Hak hasn't reached the point where he can let go of Soo-won yet, this is something that will eventually happen down the road thanks to Yona. And how can we not wish it for him? He suffers from it, it makes him angry, depressed, frustrated, it makes him grieve. Hak has always struggled from Soo-won's betrayal, he first tried to repress the feelings, then started walking a long road of trying to reconnect with and make sense of them, the present and their past together. He was slowly healing, he started being content with having a role in the sky tribe as long as the Yona and the hhb were with him. It was all for the best, everyone was walking in the same direction.
And then chapter 243 happened.
Tumblr media
To be honest, when I read chapter 259 I couldn't help but have mixed feelings about this. After all, chapter 243 happened just one year ago, and this chapter devastated me like no story had ever before. This past year I thought hard about chapter 243, I tried to make sense of it in multiple ways and get over the devastation it made me go through. I also needed time, a lot of discussions with friends and the distance to see that yes, it is a chapter where both Soo-won and Hak are at their worst emotionally, and they both give up (among many other things but this isn't a ch243 post) but it won't be the end, it's them both failing to get out of this maze. But I just couldn't accept it. I felt angry. That Hak simply accepted how Soo-won, in a way, pushes him away again and the fact Soo-won will die, be replaced, and there is no hope for him. That he didn't contradict Soo-won saying the country will be fine without him, that this is their goodbye and it's over for them. That Hak will forget what they shared in chapter 61. That Hak is letting go and moving on.
So technically speaking I should be more than happy with chapter 259 and Hak saying he sucks at forgetting and letting go! But well, I got fond of chapter 243 with time. I spent so much time thinking and discussing about it, to engage with it, to question every line and to give them a meaning that slowly started to make more and more sense to me. It became precious to me. Yes I'm this dramatic over a single manga chapter but you have to understand the degree of emotional turmoil it made me go through, it was that bad! Anyway,
So when I read chapter 259, while I feel validated and relieved, I can't also can't help but think "But then, what was chapter 243 for?" What did it change in Soo-won and Hak's relationship? Does it not matter at all anymore because anyway Hak said sike and he actually just can't forget and let go? I can't accept this either. And I don't think that's the case.
And in a way, Hak did let go. But forgetting his dream of walking side by side with Soowon as his equal, on the same path, is different than forgetting Soowon whatsoever. Hak decides he won't remember it anymore and takes a different path. But what does it entail? What does he keep and embrace and what did he let go?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The vow of 10 years that tied Soo-won to the people following him, and the vow of 10 years that tied Hak to him. The formers cling to it, not taking into consideration Soo-won's true self and his ability to change. It chains him. It forces him to act not as his real self, but as the ideal image they project on him. They don't respect what the real Soowon wants, they try to make him the Soo-won that /they/ want. Soo-won changed from 10 years ago and corresponds to neither their ideal, neither Hak's. That's why it was so violent for Hak in 243. Hak couldn't see Soo-won's own circumstances, experience and current struggles and even less accept them. But in chapter 251, Hak doesn't let this vow chain them anymore, and in a way, that helped him gain confidence in the entirety of their history together instead of clinging into one aspect of it, no matter how precious it is to him. So I believe Hak needed chapter 243 to realize he was again projecting on Soo-won, and he needed to part ways to put things into perspective right now with the Zeno plot, so for that it's a good thing.
Still, when I put chapter 243 and 259 together, when Hak said he would forget his past vow to Soo-won and that there was no need to remember it anymore, I still think it was also him giving up, not having the strength to fight back because yeah, what can Hak or Soo-won even do about the Crimson Illness? Soo-won himself is convinced he will die, that he will be replaced and things will be perfectly fine without him, and so that he has to let go of Yona and Hak because what they want is the dragons, not him. He's not completely wrong, but this is not taking into account that both of them still care for Soo-won and want him to be there. That it's not about being replaceable or not, that they can care for the dragons and still want Soo-won to live for no other reason than because he is Soo-won. This is something Hak and Soo-won have both been struggling with since they said goodbye, and they are still coming to term in their own pace that they actually don't want things to end there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hak let go of his vow of walking by his side as his equal, but he still cares, he still can't forget, and he needed Yona to put it simply into words for him. It's okay to still feel conflicted, to carry contradictory feelings. What is undoubtely there is he wants him to live and to be there. That even apart, even when his priority is saving his friends and protecting Yona, Soo-won is still a part of him and he can't just erase him from his life. And it's fine. I don't think he should have to if ultimately putting things with Soo-won behind him, letting him go, hurts him so much. He deals with things differently than Yona and he doesn't have to do the same as her if that's not what is good to him. Yona shows that even after letting go of the hairpin, it still doesn't mean she can't think of Soo-won and wish for him to live. Letting go isn't erasing someone's existence from your life, it can just be taking a different path without tearing the bond apart.
But what this all makes me think about is, maybe letting go, in the sense of completely putting things behind them, is precisely the problem with Soo-won and Zeno. They're too good at it. We know they struggle to do it completely and honestly, but they are much better at killing their feelings than Hak, and they're able to at least act and pretend as if they were really letting go. What is so similar between Soo-won and Zeno besides betraying Yona and Hak to accomplish their respective goal and their tendency to hide their most unpleasant feelings, is that they are driven by the conviction that they have no other choice. Why does Soo-won discard people, his soldiers, prisoners, his friends? Because he doesn't believe in a path where he can keep them that wouldn't compromise the rest of the country. Before the coup, despite how much he longed for it, Soo-won couldn't believe a future with Yona and Hak by his side would ever be possible. So he gave up this dream, he acted with this fact in mind, he didn't try to pursue it. A self fulfilling prophecy. Chapter 243 was the same. And Zeno now is exactly the same as well. He doesn't believe in any other solution he could come up with together with Yona. He does what he does because if he doesn't, he is convinced he won't have another chance to be free and to end the cycle. Soo-won pretended the one they knew never existed, while Zeno pretends he already forgot them and that they should do the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They push them away, they tell themselves that Hak will protect Yona anyway and they will be fine without them. They let go, put an end to their bonds themselves in an (probably unconscious) attempt to have some agency on the end rather than to wait to be left behind.
But Yona's grip is strong, and despite everything Hak sucks at letting go. For their friends and for Soo-won and anyone on their path. And maybe it is important too to not let go. To be stubborn and selfish about it. To not leave anyone behind, to not avert your eyes from those in the shadows. Maybe "to let go" isn't something to wish for as an absolute solution to grief. Maybe letting go just brings more pain sometimes and is the killer of trying to fight for a better solution. Maybe there is worth in keeping what is precious to you close to your chest and fighting for it against all odds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, as I write this I am not even sure of the answer. Zeno does deserve rest and to be allowed to go. And I can't tell if Hak will let go of Soo-won for good in the end. There is definitely a lot of good out of letting people and things go sometimes, even in Hak's case. It gives him the space to explore his feelings and come to term with them, and I don't expect him to live his life with anyone but the HHB. But all I feel is, surely, there is a better way to say goodbye. A way to say goodbye not out of resignation and despair. A way for them to listen to their hearts and be honest with their feelings. So I can only wait and keep faith for it, as I watch the characters slowly but surely try to change their fate and not submit to it.

「 extemporaneous 」 — 05 ☾
— pairing: multi; shoto x reader, izuku x reader (so FAR...) — genre: hybrid au, slow burn-ish, reverse harem — wc: 4.4k — rated: sfw — notes: yeet
You've never really had much to do with hybrids, existing in your own little bubble for a majority of your life. That comes to an end when your friend phones you for help and somehow you end up taking two hybrids off of her hands while they recuperate in the wake of an unfortunate incident. But when the time comes that they have to leave, will you really want them to go?
⟵prev. || masterlist || next⟶
Tumblr media
At this point, should you really be surprised by the dumb shit you receive from body corporate?
The answer to that is no, you should definitely be used to it by now. Whether you should be angry, on the other hand… well, that’s another matter entirely.
And you feel like in this instance, your anger is more than a little justified.
The two hybrids had recoiled slightly when the spark first lit within you, and you instantly felt bad for throwing your emotions around when you know they’re so sensitive to them. You let the letter fall onto the nearby bench, closing your eyes and taking a deep breath. When you feel the heat in your chest fade a bit, you take another deep breath. You’re still mad, but now a little less intensely so.
When you open your eyes and reach for the letter again, it’s not where you left it. Alarmed and with a slight feeling of dread, you turn and catch the two hybrids scanning its contents. This makes you feel even worse, because it’s not exactly something you want them to read.
“I’m sorry,” you say, plucking the letter away before they can get too far into it. “You shouldn’t have to read rubbish like this.”
“Yona, they’re threatening to fine you,” Izuku says, eyes wide. He immediately steps forward, edging closer to you so he can lay his hand on your arm. His long ears droop ever so slightly. “Because of us…?”
“Don’t worry, they threaten to fine me all the time,” you say, flashing him a smile. “I have a blood feud with one of the body corporate members, so it’s kind of common.”
Shoto’s eyes are piercing daggers through the paper in your hold, the pensive look on his face almost distracting you from the soft, distressed whine Izuku lets out.
“We need to have collars,” Shoto announces, and you feel your heart sink. That’s the part you were hoping they hadn’t read. Collars can be a bit of a touchy subject for hybrids, and you personally aren’t fond of them because of the reminder they provide that hybrids are viewed by some as subhuman.
“I mean, you don’t have to if – if you don’t want--” You cut yourself off, flustered, and take a moment to form what you want to say. “This is their rules, not mine. You don’t have to do anything you’re uncomfortable with, I won’t make you. I won’t let them make you, either.”
Izuku’s eyes glisten a bit as he looks at you, and that’s about all the warning you get before he throws himself at you so abruptly you almost go toppling over. He whines your name loudly where his face is pressed against your shoulder, the vibrations tickling almost as much as his dark curls against your cheek. You’re beginning to realise that Izuku is a lot more emotional and dramatic than you first pegged him to be. Instinctively, your arms come up around him, rubbing his back with wide eyes. You look to Shoto for help, but his eyes are trained on the hold you have around Izuku.
Izuku yanks his head back, gripping you by the shoulders. His ears go pin straight for a moment at the sheer determination emanating from him.
“No, you’re taking care of us so it’s only fair!” he announces with gusto, brows drawn. “I don’t want you to get in trouble when all you’re doing is giving us a place to stay. Besides…”
His eyes flit to the side, a blush tinging his honey skin. His next words are murmured so softly you almost miss them. “If it’s for you… I don’t mind wearing a collar…”
He then releases you, backtracking and slapping a hand over his rapidly-colouring cheeks. If he was going to get so embarrassed as a result, why did he even say it? Fondness sparks within you at how absolutely endearing he is.
Shoto’s opportunistic streak shows itself again a moment later when he notices the vacant space around you and approaches; he slips his arms around your waist loosely from behind, his face planting itself into your hair.
“We won’t let you get fined,” he mumbles against your head, nose nuzzling slightly. “That’s money that can be spent on other things. Like chicken. And soba.”
You snort at that, following the sudden bold impulse you get to turn in his hold and return his hug. Shoto freezes when you do so, the action apparently unexpected. When you rub a hand over his back, he melts into you and lets out a happy noise that is suspiciously dog-like. You decide not to give him grief over it and instead squeeze him against you.
“Thanks, you two,” you say, pulling away with a bitter smile. “But I’m still sorry you even have to consider it. I didn’t realise that they would, well…”
“Don’t worry about it,” Shoto says, waving his hand. His snowy ears flick atop his head as Izuku voices his agreement. “Like he said, you’ve done a lot for us so far. It’s the least we can do, really.”
You can feel your chest warm at his words. You throw him a soft smile. “You might regret saying that. Word on the street is that a lot of the collar options these days are super ugly.”
Shoto rolls his eyes, letting out a scoff. “I don’t really give a f–“
“I’m sure you’ll take us somewhere promising!” Izuku says, cutting his fellow hybrid off. He meets your eyes and beams. “I trust you, Yona!”
… You might need to sit down.
//
There wasn’t much point in wasting time, so after a brief reprieve at home you took them out to get collars. It still doesn’t sit right with you, despite their reassurance, and on the way to one of the places you googled that has good reviews, you wonder what you can do to make it a bit more even. You don’t want to disrupt the balance you have with them right now, and if they have to start wearing collars when you go out…
It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
It’s a short drive, and you arrive in what feels like no time at all. You don’t make it a foot away from the car, though, before a hand is grasping your own and tugging you back.
“I can smell it from here,” Shoto says in explanation, “That place is going to reek of other hybrids. Can we…?”
You open your arms without so much as a blink, and they both dive in to make you the one no doubt reeking of hybrid – well, two in particular, anyway.
“This is gonna be a regular occurrence, huh?” You joke, “At this rate, I’m worried what will happen after I shower.”
Izuku laughs, if a bit delayed, but Shoto’s silence makes you spare him a glance. A thoughtful look is on his face for a moment, before he nods and turns his mismatched eyes in your direction.
“Yeah, maybe don’t shower so often. That will preserve it more.”
“Sho!” Izuku smacks his arm, and the canine hybrid huffs.
“I’m kidding,” he says. He clearly wasn’t. Izuku appears kind of mortified.
Rolling your eyes at their antics and Shoto’s perpetually growing boldness, you turn and begin towards the store. Two hurried sets of footsteps follow after you, followed by a hand taking each of your own. You didn’t think it was going to be a reoccurring thing when you introduced it at the shopping centre that time, but you can’t say you’re complaining.
The shop upon entry is… interesting. Kind of like the unholy fusion of a pet store and a jewellery store. There is a number of different sections, each with different styles and price tags, different designers and brand names, and in the far corner is a machine for pressing details onto collar tags. At least you won’t be needing that, since these two technically don’t belong to you.
… Why did that thought kind of hurt?
Shaking your head, you allow your gaze to roam around once more before moving further in. The clerk greets you from the counter on the other side, and you return it before shifting to face your two companions.
“Right,” you say, feeling a little (read: very) out of your element. “Um, let’s have a look, I guess?”
A soft, nervous laugh filters from Izuku, and he peers around while scratching the back of his head. He isn’t sure where to start, either.
Shoto hums, using his grip on your hand to pull you closer to his side. There is only two other groups in here, a small family with a young hamster hybrid, and a tired man in business attire with three hybrids trailing after him. They seem content to mind their own business, though, so you’re not too worried.
Shoto’s instincts appear to be getting the better of him, on the other hand. You might have to ask him if everything is okay when you get back home, because although you’re not exactly opposed to this new behaviour it is pretty different from normal. He’s pressed to your side like a conjoined twin.
“How are you meant to find one that you like if you’re stuck next to me the whole time?” you ask, amused. Shoto doesn’t turn his head, giving you a glance from the corner of his eye.
“I’m not picky,” he announces, on the complete opposite side of the globe to the truth. “I’m sure I can find something easily like this.”
You hum in acknowledgement, trying your best not to laugh. It’s not his fault that he’s so funny without meaning to be. His hand squeezes yours, fingers tightening their hold before he begins to attempt navigation. Izuku is peering around with a critical gaze as he follows, attempting to narrow down which section to visit first.
“I’m going to check out these ones,” he says distractedly, having found something of interest a moment later. You tell him not to worry about price as he goes, but knowing him he probably discarded that blessing before it even entered his ears. He’s too considerate to spend a lot of your money.
You’ve got a list of items you’re intending to be reimbursed for already though, so you’re not too concerned. Nejire better watch her back come tax time.
The variety of styles available is truthfully quite surprising. A pieces catch your eye as you pass them, and they’re so similar to some jewellery already available to humans that you consider getting one for yourself.
That… actually gives you an idea.
You can tell that Shoto wants to keep you within arms reach, but when you pause to inspect a row of glimmering chain collars, and an aisle further up catches his eye, he is forced to let you go. He gives you a morose look as he parts from your side, and it’s as though he’s trying to plead with his eyes for you not to go too far — the sight is so funny you have to turn away so he doesn’t see you smile. He shuffles off to investigate the aisle that caught his eye.
You’re not sure what you expected before walking in here, but you’re able to admit that you might have been a little pessimistic. You were thinking uncomfortable, uncompromising, ugly…. But there are actually quite a number of collars that seem to take the hybrid into consideration. Some are simple, made of durable fabric with bamboo weave so that it doesn’t irritate the senses. Others are soft and made of silk that sits loosely around the neck, unrestricting. Of course, there are also the typical styles normally available for the standard pet – leather, studded, spiked, bejewelled. But you’re happy to admit that the range is better than you thought it would be.
Humming to yourself, you allow your gaze to scroll lazily through the options on the wall – you have no intention of choosing for either of them, but you also want to allow them plenty of time to find one that they like. Now that you’re alone for a brief moment, you let the thought that passed through your mind earlier to return for further deliberation. Deeming it a good idea, you begin looking at the options available a little more discerningly. Something resilient that can be worn every day would be good.
In total, you probably spend about an hour in the store. There is a lot to look at, and both hybrids end up with a handful of runner-ups that they’re choosing between. Gradually, the three of you have migrated closer to the register, and now you’re in the final aisle as the boys show you their spoils.
“Those three are nice,” Izuku says, pointing to the jumbled pile in the basket hanging from his elbow. “But, it’s these two that I’m really stuck between. This black one is a soft material, and has a standard buckle. This green one is also soft, but I like that it doesn’t have any metal and is just one you tie yourself.”
His forest-hued eyes sweep and meet your own, an expectant glimmer catching your eye. “Which one do you think, Yona?”
“They both suit you,” you answer immediately, the instant smile that blooms on his face making your chest warm. “But if I’m being honest… I think I like the green one better on you. The extra bits of fabric that hang down kind of match your ears.”
Izuku beams, a blush erupting on his cheeks as he does so, and immediately dumps the black one back in the basket. “Green it is. Thanks, Yona! I’m just gonna go and put the others back quickly.”
And then he is gone, darting down the aisle with the quick and nimble feet of, well… a rabbit. You turn to Shoto, who had been staring without a break at the collar in his hand for the duration of Izuku’s dilemma.
“I think I want this one,” he says, apparently feeling your gaze. His eyes peek at you from beneath long, thick lashes. “But… it’s a little similar to Izuku’s.”
“So?” you ask, tilting your head. Shoto lifts his face at your response. “If you like this one, then get it. Even if you got one exactly the same, I’m sure you would make it your own when you wear it.”
Shoto hums, pondering your words. The collar in question is a long, thin silken band, meant to wind twice around the neck and then tie off however the wearer prefers. It has a single gold ring looped onto the fabric, meant for a tag, but even without one it looks cute.
“I think it will look really nice,” you say, smiling. “Matches your hair. Well, half of it.”
The canine hybrid snorts, rolling his eyes playfully – he can’t hide the smile that rises, though. “Alright, I’ll get it – but not because you told me to or anything.”
You laugh, placing a hand on his arm. “Alright, go put the rest back. I’ll meet you two at the registers.”
He nods, and leans down to rub his cheek against the top of your head before striding away, long legs carrying him quicker than your eyes can follow. It’s like he can’t help himself, now that you’ve given him the green light to scent you. Your teeth sink into your lip – well, it’s not like you mind. It’s actually kind of endearing.
Time for a change of mental subject! You smack your cheek and move to the counter where the clerk is resting, smiling politely. You place your single item down, and the clerk scans it. You don’t have to wait long for the other two to arrive and place their own choices on the counter.
They all go into a bag after being wrapped in some tissue paper, and the attendant gives the three of you a smile. His cheeks redden as he actually looks at the hybrids by your side, and you feel oddly proud. Is this what it’s like to have kids that grow up handsome?
“Okay, the total for three items is $84.55. Are you a member at all?”
From the corner of your eye, you catch the hybrids sharing a confused look, but you ignore it to shake your head and reach for your card.
“Oh, that’s okay. Would you like me to sign you up? Members get some pretty neat deals with all of our sister stores that handle hybrid products and goods. There’s no extra cost – actually, if anything I think it will probably give you $5 off since this would be your first purchase.”
Your brows shoot up and a surprised hum escapes you. That might actually be a good idea, if its for other stores besides this one. Lord knows how much else you’re probably going to have to buy for these two. “Oh, yeah sure actually. You need my details?”
The process doesn’t take too long, and soon you’re exiting the store and heading for the car once more. It’s been a busy day, really.
You have to dodge the boys’ repeated attempts to take the bag from your hold, though. It’s kind of fun, and by the time you reach the car it’s become a sort of game.
“I’m not that old,” you snort as you climb in. “Do you think my bones will break from carrying this itty bitty bag?”
“No,” Izuku admits, slightly sullen at his failure to carry the bag for you. “But we’ve only lost the battle, not the war.”
Shoto nods, eyes closed and arms crossed. “Enjoy it while it lasts.”
The contents of said bag are unceremoniously dumped on the counter as soon as you arrive home. You feel like you’re distributing rations as you hand them their collars.
“I won’t make you wear them when you’re home, but honestly do whatever you’re comfortable with,” you say, folding the bag and preparing to shove it in the bin.
You receive some dismissive ‘yeah’s, and think they will be busy for now with attempting to wear the collars when a smooth baritone enters the air shortly after.
“By the way, that shop attendant said three items. Did he overcharge you?”
You turn, catching the curious look directed your way. A somewhat secretive smile tugs your lips.
“No, he didn’t.” You grab the third wrapped item from the counter. “He was talking about this.”
It’s unwrapped in seconds and immediately holds the attention of both hybrids. Confusion still twists their features, though.
“It’s pretty,” Izuku says, eyes sweeping over the design of the collar in your hold. “But we both already chose one… what’s this one for?”
“For me,” you answer simply, ignoring their startled looks. “It’s only fair. I don’t like feeling like we’re on unequal footing with only you two wearing them. Now, we’re even.”
It’s a simple band with a thin chain sitting in the middle of the fabric. It has a little star charm dangling from the centre of the chain. Honestly, if someone saw you wearing this on the street they would just think it was a pretty choker. It’s the same for a lot of the things that were in the store, and the ones that your boys chose. The only aspect that makes them collars is the fact it’s a hybrid wearing them.
Upsetting, but you digress.
You fiddle with the collar, attempting to wrangle it from the display card it’s stuck on, and only notice the silence in the room a few beats later. Your eyes flit up, catching sight of two very dumbfounded men.
“You got… a collar to wear with us?” Izuku asks, blinking like he can’t quite comprehend what he’s seeing and hearing. His voice is slightly choked, and he has to clear his throat when he is done.
“Yeah,” you say. “Now we all kind of match.”
His eyes flutter rapidly, mouth hanging slightly ajar. Pink blooms on his cheeks moments later, and his eyes glisten slightly. Izuku coughs, turning his face away.
Shoto surprises you by taking two long strides forward, tilting the collar in your hold with his finger and giving it a shrewd once-over.
“It’s pretty,” he rasps, mismatched gaze flitting between the items in your hold, Izuku’s, and his own. His ears lean backwards, adam’s apple bobbing. The low timbre of his voice as it escapes has you fighting a shudder. “They all kind of look like pretty necklaces.”
“They do,” you agree. You begin to worry that your purchase might have had the opposite effect than you intended. Right when you’re about to speak up and offer a hasty apology, Shoto surprises you with a soft laugh. His finger lifts and brushes along the column of your neck, a smile gracing his features.
“It’ll look good,” he says simply. He bites his lip, taking a step back. There is something soft about the curve of his eyes. “Thanks, Yona.”
Contentment bubbles in your chest as Izuku returns his gaze to you and hastily nods his agreement. All but throwing his own collar to the side, he darts forward with a smile and outstretched hands. “Here, let me help you put it on. They have a bit of a trick to the clasp.”
You feel a lot better about the situation now, with these two flitting about behind you and attempting to hook the choker properly. All things considered, the day definitely could have gone a lot worse.
//
There atmosphere in the home from that day has been nothing short of peaceful and content. They had already been warming up to you gradually, but now you feel like you’ve earned a decent portion of trust. You haven’t taken off the collar at all, and the two of them (contrary to every single one of your expectations) have done the same. In fact, you’d actually be inclined to describe the way they wear them as though they’re proudly showing off a designer shirt, or couture bag. Odd, but not unwelcome. They’re settled, comfortable, and so long as they’re happy you’re pretty happy with yourself, too.
All good things tend to come to an end, but in your instance it’s not an actual end — actually, it’s more like a complete change of pace.
It’s a simple incident that spurs the change, something that could have been easily avoided if you were anyone but, well, you. As it happens, you are indeed you, and so it is somewhat unavoidable.
You’ve taken to resuming your old exercise schedule, and this includes the occasional morning run. The two hybrids aren’t always awake when you leave (they were the first time, but that’s because you swear Shoto zoomed out of bed thinking there was an intruder when you tried to leave quietly) but they tend to rouse when you return. Today, they are still in various stages of waking up and have yet to leave their room.
When you return you make a beeline for your en-suite, hot, sweaty and probably stinky. You don’t like swimming around in your own sweat, and so tend to always go for a shower as soon as you come home. You peel your activewear from your skin, stepping out of the fabric and into a towel just for the time being. Your hair is already up and out of the way, and the collar is waterproof, so all that’s left is to turn the water on and let it warm up.
You might be overheated, but you’re not about to take an ice shower. You’re only a little bit crazy.
You have to lean in to turn the tap on, and brace your hand on the frame of the door to do so. This, as it turns out, is your fatal mistake.
Not wanting the heat to escape as the water warms but for some reason not wanting to remove your hand either, you swing the door gently closed. It does not close gently. In fact, one could say it slammed shut.
Right on your fingers, in the place where your nails are.
“OW! Mother of–“
A string of curses fit for a sailor are flung into the air, the shower door flinging shut with a huge bang as you whip you hand away and out of the danger zone. You’ll live, but it hurts like a bitch right now, so at what cost? Your poor fingers. You hate it when this happens – it’s always on the spot near the nails that hurts the most. This is bullshit!
Thankfully your sweaty self doesn’t slip on anything, and you’re left standing in a towel and examining your fingers for any broken skin as steam begins to leak beyond the shower stall. For a moment, you forget that you don’t actually live alone anymore.
When the door suddenly bursts open, you are abruptly reminded that you now live with not one, but two other people, whose hearing is nothing short of exceptional.
“Yona!” Izuku’s eyes are wild with a mixture of fear, concern, and alarm. Shoto is right beside him, mismatched hues immediately sweeping the room for any dangers. It would be funny if it were any other situation except this one. Immediately, your whole body grows hot and your cheeks burn – in perfect synchronicity, the two hybrids inhale and their eyes narrow on you. Immediately afterwards, said eyes widen and they both erupt into a violent blush.
Izuku slaps a hand over his eyes, ears ramrod straight atop his head. His voice shakes slightly as he speaks. “I’m so sorry! Are-- are you okay though? I’m so sorry, we completely just--”
Shoto’s eyes are glued to the ceiling, head tilted back like he is beseeching the heavens for strength.
“We heard a bang and you yelling,” he says, voice thick and strained. His face is a few shades from the vibrancy of his hair. “Thought something happened… Sorry.”
“I just, uh… I jammed my fingers,” you fluster, shaking your fingers out. Your other hand flies to grab the towel when it begins to drop. “Sorry for alarming you. It just, um, really hurt. Yeah.”
Silence accompanies the steam beginning to fill the room, an odd tension weaving between the three of you. After a few beats, Shoto swallows and grips Izuku by the shirt sleeve.
“Um, we will be going now. Try not to jam them again. Sorry.”
He then turns on his heel in a single motion, not a glance spared your way, and power-walks out of the room with his smaller companion in tow. Izuku stumbles, hand still covering his eyes.
“Sorry again! Sorry!”
Your bedroom door slams shut, announcing their departure from your quarters.
Well, if you weren’t lightheaded from the heat before then you certainly are now.
