Different

It was the peak of summer when Eddie met her for the first time. She had him stop in his tracks and stare. She was completely different than any girl he had ever seen. She had dyed hair, a mixture of blues and some white. Her makeup was fierce and bold. Her skin was painted white and her eyes and lips coated in black. She was gorgeous and gothic. She was so different but a good different.

Her nose was pierced and her face looked sculpted by God himself. Eddie was smitten the second he saw her and it only got worse when she talked to him.

"Dude, why are you staring at my cousin like that?" Dustin asked, they watched as she hugged Dustin's mom.

Eddie couldn't form words, staring as his mouth went dry. Dustin waved a hand in his face but Eddie didn't even blink. All he could feel was his heart racing and his palms getting sweaty.

"Hey Dusty," she said as she walked over. Her ring-covered hand messed with his hair. Then her attention moved to Eddie.

"Who's this?" she asked. Eddie gulped as her eyes settled on him. She was even more perfect up close. She looked him up and down, a small suggestive smile on her face. She made Eddie squirm but he liked it.

"This is Eddie, he's the master in Hellfire!" Dustin said, "He usually never shuts up so no idea what his problem- OW"

Y/N laughed to herself as Eddie gave Dustin a hard elbow to the chest.

"Well Eddie, my name is Y/N," she placed out her hand. Eddie admired her dark nails and clunky rings. He smiled as he shook her hand, his rings clicking against hers.

Eddie would like to say it only took him a few days to get a date with her, but it took him a whole month to get the sentence out. And then another month to ask her to be his girlfriend.

He wouldn't admit it, but he sobbed the day he dropped her off back to college. He cursed himself for not graduating when he should have because he would have followed her to any school. But they refused to break up. It was stronger than a summer fling.

Eddie was a lovesick puppy when it came to her. He wrote letters, wrote her songs, wrote poems, and always mailed some type of gift. She always wrote him back and he had a dresser filled with things she sent him.

The first holiday break was coming up and it was all Eddie could talk about.

"We get it, your girlfriend is coming," Mike groaned into his hands. The rest of the lunch table sighed as Eddie went on another rant about the things he had planned for when Y/N came into town.

"Don't forget she is coming to visit family, not just you," Dustin said as he rolled his eyes. He liked that Eddie and Y/N were together, but Eddie didn't know how to share.

"Yeah yeah" Eddie shrugged him off

Dustin and Eddie raced to the front door, shoving each other out of the way.

"She's my cousin!" Dustin argued

"She's my girlfriend!" Eddie fought back

It was clear Eddie was in love and that he would do anything for Y/N.

"Shit, I forgot to grab extra butter" Y/N groaned as she took her seat. The previews for movies were playing on the big screen as Eddie stood up.

"I'll get it, baby," he said without missing a second. He leaned down and pecked her lips, waiting patiently as she wiped off her black lipstick off his lips.

Then he bounced out of the theater to go get her butter

"Can you believe her boyfriend said that?" Y/N ranted, Eddie sat on her dorm bed as she complained about her roommate's boyfriend.

"What a dick!" Eddie said, he didn't think what the boyfriend said was a big deal but he wouldn't tell her that.

"Exactly! So will you tell him that?" Y/N asked as she placed her hand on her hip

Eddie gulped but stood up, "I got you, baby"

"Eddie, can you grab that can next to your foot?" Dustin asked, it was movie night at his house and Eddie and Y/N joined him. Except they spent the whole time making out.

"Kinda busy here," Eddie hissed as he pulled away, then placed his lips back on hers.

Y/N pulled away and handed Dustin the can. Dustin thanked her as he glared at Eddie. But his focus was only on her, his dopey eyes staring at her.

"I want popcorn, do you guys want any?" Dustin asked as he stretched out his legs and set his can back down

"No," Eddie said, leaning in to kiss Y/N again but she placed her finger on his lips.

"I kinda do," she whispered

"On it," Eddie said, standing up as fast as he could, his foot smacking Dustin's can and spilling it all over the floor. But he walked past it and headed into the kitchen

"EDDIE! COME ON!" Dustin yelled

Before he knew it, they were together for years. They both finished school and got a small apartment. On their days off they stayed tangled up in bed together.

"I love you," Eddie whispered as he pecked her lips

"I love you too," she said as she kissed him back, her hand on his cheek. He smiled as he felt the cold new ring on her left hand.

He gently grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckle. Then he kissed the new engagement ring he placed on her finger last night.

I want to talk about my interpretation of mikes smile after wills speech. Obviously it's a super sweet smile but when you really look into it given the context it's a bit suspicious no?

IS IT JUST ME OR IS IT OFF? I know a lot of us bylers can agree that Mike is NOT stupid, he's very smart. Therefore a lot of us think he knows something, it could be a few things.

1, he knows it wasn't commissioned by El, el literally stated that she has NO idea what will was painting in the first ep on the letter Mike was reading so for will to say she commissioned probably confused him

2, the same thing I wrote^ but he also knows there's a romantic meaning behind it. A lot of people say in the "Mike speech" scene where will encourages him to say I love you to El which throws him off from what will told him in the van. If that makes sense. Mike gives him this sad look, can't really describe the emotional but it could be many things.

Either way, Mike either knows, has a HUNCH, or he's just oblivious(doubt it)

Because that smile when will finishes his speech, Mike gives him a smile that almost looks idk forced? I don't know the word but you can tell that Mike may be feeling a bit confused and conflicted because his smile immediately drops when he looks away. It just feels iffy to me.

And then Mike looking at will, noticing him crying, immediately looking away. I do want to know why he didn't say anything but he probably wanted to give will space. Mike knows that will doesn't like that kind of treatment, hence s2.

Byler and The Imitation Game

My native language is not english so i hope you understand everything🥰.

So we all know the poster from Will in S4 was about Alan Turing and i found the movie ,,The Imitation Game” and i watched it, and it was very interesting for byler and mileven.

So at first Alan was gay and saved 14 Million lives and shortened the ww2 around 2 years.

Alan was also inlove with his bestfriend, Christopher.

So he needed to crack the german enigma in year 1939 and he wanted to see if anyone can crack a puzzle under 6 minutes, and a lady, Joan, was late and she argued with a man. So Alan went to her and said something like ,,you can sit down”. She argued with the man, because he thought that she didn’t cracked the puzzle all by herself, because they needed to also crack a puzzle before they crack the other puzzle, and she was a woman,thats why the man thought she could not do it all by herself, it was during WW2.

I think it’s like El and Mike, Mike trusted El and let her to his house, but we all know Lucas and Dustin didn’t like her. So we can imagine like Dustin and Lucas are the men who doesnt like women and Mike like Alan liked her and let her to his house and like Alan gave her a chance to crack this puzzle even if she was a woman.

Now we go to Alan’s school time, he was bullied for being ,,different”. But he had help from his best friend, Christopher. One day they were under a tree, Christopher read a book. And Alan was interested, so Christopher thought that he would like it too. And then they shared a cute smile and i think that was the moment Alan realized his feelings for Christopher. And then they had a math class and shared letters and Christopher wrote something like ,,See you in two long weeks, my dearest friend”🥰🥰. And after that two weeks Alan wrote ,,i love you” and he waited for him, but he never came back, because he died of his illness.

I think in ST are letters romantic, like here, but i mean not every letter is romantic. But i don‘t think mike knows that he loves him, because i think he would like get distance himself from Will. Because i think we all think that mike has internalized homophobia, but i mean he will notice it in S5.

Okay so now we come back to Alan and Joan, so she cracked the puzzle under 6 minutes and i mean they liked eachother, but Joan had to leave,because her parents wanted her back and because she had no husband. So Alan had the idea to marry her, and they did.

So what do you think? I think Mike forced himself to get into a relationship like Alan for a reason, maybe because he’s gay or what i think he ,,loved” her in the moment were she wore nancys dress or just another reason idk. We don’t know what he thought or felt. He just looked at her and said ,,pretty”. Idk but the duffers will hopefully explain what he thought or felt.

And after Alan was engaged with her, they were at a party and a friend of Alan asked Joan to dance with him and they did, then Alan smiled at them but it faded away and a friend sat next to him and he said ,,what’s the matter?” Alan said ,,what if- what if i don’t fancy being with joan that way”😟 and then the friend said ,,because you’re a homosexual?” And Alan said ,,i care about her, i truly do,i just dont know if i can pretend…”😱

We all know mike said to Eleven ,,i care about you so much” and i think this scene from Alan was inspired from it.

And now a good one, they ,,broke up” because Alan said he is gay, but she said ,,i had my suspicions, but i care about you and i know you care about me” and idk i never saw a post about it but in S3 eleven said to max ,,how do i know what i like?” LIKE WHAT😭 how do you know what you love when you don’t even know what you like and it was just about clothing?

And Alan said that he was never alone, because he said to his Computer, Christopher and after he cracked enigma, he took his Computer, Christopher home with him.

,,I think it‘ll be easier if we’re a team. Friends. Best Friends.” So Mike and Will are working together. Like Alan and Christopher just that Christopher is his Computer😓.

And omg im sorry i dont have structure😭 i just saw Joan and Alan danced together but they were not inlove😭

But ik it doesn’t mean that Alan Turing is like Mikes story, it’s just inspiring, from a gay icon🥰. Maybe El and Mike they were in love somehow, because i think it’s difficult to explain it,but i mean i think the duffers have also their own ideas and get inspired from other movies/shows.But that they are not inspired from this movie, i would say it’s impossible 😭 See how many things are like the same. The end of s3 looks like Mike had a realisation 😭. El literally kissed him infront of wills opened closet,they had wills teddy bear between them (and also from what I’ve seen bear represents Will in the series idk if I’m right!) and Mikes eyes were WIDE OPEN, he just looked uncomfortable (or how do I say it) and waited for the kiss to end, and this was his reaction right after that when el walked out of the room.

It just looks like bro has realised smth🐺. The hug with Karen was also after the final scene with the main six when hopper was reading the letter he wrote! And this sentence was said when the camera was focusing on mike ,, But lately, I guess I've been feeling distant from you. Like you're pulling away from me or something.” (Parallel to s4) and when he hugged Karen these sentencs were said ,, But I know you're getting older, growing, changing. And, I guess, if I'm being really honest, that's what scares me. I don't want things to change. So I think maybe that's why I came in here, to try and stop that change. To turn back the clock. To make things go back to how they were.” (Not all of this was in the scene with mike&karen but I still wanted to count that in cuz it was focused on Will for a moment of it🤞and its really byler coded if you think abt it.)

Jonathan’s line about Steve in vol 2 was so…. I don’t know. I mean yeah it straight up confirms that Nancy and Jonathan make fun of Steve behind his back, and like I get that I have never been in Nancy’s situation so obviously it seems more mortifying to me, but I would have felt so guilty in her place. I can’t imagine not shutting Jonathan up if he started shit talking about Steve. Like Steve would have been straight up unmentionable if I was Nancy. Idk.

I get that Duffers don’t treat their characters emotional lives seriously, but like. That’s why Robin being kind to Nancy in s5 despite Nancy’s uh.. well frankly appalling attitude towards Robin, makes zero sense to me. I really wanted Nancy to struggle being in Steve’s group. Not in the “she deserves it bhahaha” way, but like… Steve dumped his friends for her (which was good for him), and her expecting to get the same treatment and meeting Robin instead? Who actively dislikes her and for a good reason? Who is smart and cool and kind? That’s way more interesting than people kissing Nancy’s ass the whole season, while she is actively putting Max’s life in danger. Like, yeah in high school she is the chief editor of the newspaper, and at home she is the eldest sister, and with Jon she makes fun of Steve, and now none of these people are here, but Steve is here and so is his bestie. And Steve is as kind as always, but Robin dislikes her, and it is not just prejudice

She got so nervous and tried to explain and defend herself, and Nancy only really started to listen once they got into the hospital. Nancy has a not great plan that puts one of the kids in danger, one of the kids Steve is close to. (Max wrote him a letter!!) I think Robin would really see Steve's people as her people, even if she wasn't personally close to them she'd still feel comfortable around the younger teens because Steve is? Let robin be critical of this plan. Let her call it out or something. Give Nancy someone to push against, it's no fun if there's no resistance! I want Nancy to be the one wanting friendship with Robin, and Robin not being receptive to it. Nancy not having a relationship handed to her would be refreshing and I want to see how she'd try to win Robin's friendship.

Let Robin not want to work with Nancy because she's heard the rumours about how her and Steve ended, even though he only mentioned that he wasn't a good boyfriend ans wasn't what she needed so it didn't work out. Robin saw that one week Steve and Nancy had a fight, and a day later she was ditching with Jonathan? yeah something is fishy there to even the most socially oblivious person. Let Robin know Steve well enough that she knew he at least thought he was telling the truth but that there must have been more. Let Robin decide she was going to do the most cliche best friend thing and not be very nice to the ex that broke her bestie's heart.

ooooh anon what you're saying is so interesting because, yeah. Steve dumped Tommy and Carol for Nancy, and that was good for him, and then Nancy got with Jonathan who doesn't really have any friends in Hawkins. So she's always been her boyfriend's main person of similar age they're close to. But now Steve's got Robin. Who is funny and kind and weird and loyal and smart and sarcastic. Who is obsessed with Steve and who Steve is also obsessed with. And that, from a s5 stancy pov, is so interesting because now Nancy is now competing (in her mind) for her boyfriend/potential bf's attention with his best friend. Like Jonathan was focused on his family, obviously (and this caused strain for them too) but it's not the same socially as a best friend taking priority. Steve would still hold those relationships, because they're good for him and good for the others, and there's zero reason for him to abandon them this time.

I think Nancy would hate it. Like Steve would obviously give her tonnes of attention, but with him having actual close friendships not just with Robin but Dustin and Max (at least) too, she'd still feel like she was bartering for time with him. That is suuuuch a fun potential dynamic between nancy and steve and also nancy and steve's friends.

I’m someone who HATES getting my hopes up and always keeps my expectations low but it’s so hard to do that when it comes to Byler. I went into season 4 as a GA member. I always knew Will was gay since season 1 and even felt like he might’ve had a crush on Mike since season 2. I was positive he had feelings for Mike since season 3. Season 4 ended up confirming everything I suspected. As for Mike, I did think he liked El in seasons 1 and 2. I even thought Mileven were cute in those seasons. Then season 3 happened and made me realize I thought Mileven was cute because I hadn’t actually witnessed them in a relationship. Their relationship just annoyed me and confused the hell out of me. It wasn’t a healthy relationship at all. Mike seemed like a completely different person, like he was pretending to be someone else. Their breakup made me so happy and then when they got back together at the end of the season I was confused and annoyed all over again. Then season 4 happened and seeing the way Mike was without El in Hawkins, seeing him go back to being the nerd I knew and loved and playing DnD again, that made me so happy. Then he went to California to visit El and Will. Once again pretending to be something that he wasn’t while around El and acting extremely weird around Will. Will clearly had feelings for Mike but acted totally fine and normal around him. The boy was beaming and so happy to see him and give him a hug. Mike was the one acting weird around Will. Why? Based on the letter El wrote to Mike you’d think Will would be the one to act weird and awkward but it was the other way around. That airport scene made me start thinking that maybe possibly Mike liked Will beyond just platonically. Will and Mike did always seem to have a deeper friendship to me. Mike always acted differently around Will compared to Lucas and Dustin. Plus when Mike was in a romantic relationship with El, he never seemed to be his authentic self to me. I then thought I was probably just reading too much into things but the more scenes I watched of Mike and El along with scenes of Mike and Will, the more I thought that there was no way that the writers of this show actually want me to want Mike and El together. If so, why are they writing them so terribly? They write Jopper, Jancy, and Lumax so well so what the hell are they doing with Mileven? Why’d they make Will have feelings for Mike and are making me want those two to be together instead? Why are the writers having Mike be his most authentic, vulnerable self with Will? What is going on here? If they want me to root for Mileven instead then they’re doing the absolute worst job in making me want them as a couple since season 3. Season 4 made me one hundred percent ship Byler and I found out that I definitely wasn’t the only one who felt that way after watching season 4. By the way, my sister can’t stand Mileven either and would much rather have Byler be a couple as well. So yeah, the writers screwed up big time if they weren’t planning on this reaction. Season 4 and Byler is what really got me into Stranger Things beyond just a casual viewer. Will is my favorite character and all I want is for that boy to finally get happiness and love. He’s just been nonstop suffering the entire time. Why make him in love with Mike if Byler isn’t going to happen? Just so he could suffer more? Wow talk about terrible writing for their only gay character.

Words flowed out of him when he put pen to paper, but it was never the same in person. There was something so magnetic about you. You were so beautiful, pretty, kind, smart and sweet. Every single time he met you it just made his heart flutter.

His eyes scanned the paper to see the lovely tidy writing in front of him. A rare smile spread over his lips, he was satisfied with what he had made finally. He sealed up the letter and placed a wax seal on the envelope. Now, he just needed to deliver it to you.

He was quick and quiet as he moved down the hall. It was quiet in the base because most people were asleep, Levi thought he wasn't seen but he was wrong. As he made his way to your room the eyes of a very tall friend watched him.

Mike was amused by his grumpy friend running around in the night attempting to do romantic things. Part of him wanted to tease Levi, but he knew better. He was very aware that Levi was an emotional man, he just kept it locked up. He also knew that Levi was very clean and had some personal issues about contact so, seeing him pursue someone made Mike happy that Levi was finding a drive in life after the loss of his friends.

He had to time it right. As soon as Levi hurried back Mike blocked his path. "What are you doing?"

Levi went bright red. "Tch, none of your fucking business."

"You're in love with her, aren't you? Our little admin cutie."

He turned his gaze away. "So what if I am? You going to take the piss?"

Mike folded his arms. "I considered it, but I think instead I might help. I know someone we need to talk to."

"Who?"

The tall blonde waved to Levi to get him to follow. "This way."

It concerned Levi that he was caught, but he knew very well help in this situation was good for him. He instantly knew where he was he moved down the hall. He didn't think Erwin could help, he wasn't aware of his dating past but the more help he could get, the better.

Mike opened Erwin's office door to see he was working like usual. "We need your advice."

Erwin looked up. "Is it to do with training or a mission?"

"Asking a girl on a date."

Erwin sat up. "Right. Who's asking who out?"

Levi walked over and grumbled. "Me." He said your name. "I l-love her. I-I want to...date her..."

"What have you done so far?"

"Written her romantic letters, but not signed them."

Erwin hummed in thought. "Do you talk to her face-to-face?"

"I-I have, b-but I get flustered."

"Got it. Well, let's make a plan of action."

The three men talked throughout the night making plans for Levi to act on. They were going to make sure that Levi would ask you out in the most romantic manner possible. In the morning, he went out into the training fields and collected a big bunch of wildflowers. Next, he wrote a letter with his full confession.

Levi dressed up in his nice suit and avoided everyone so he wasn't questioned. It was a lot for him to confess his love to you and he really didn't want an audience. Getting you alone was important, so he went to your office and as soon as he walked in he saw you were reading a love letter he made you with a cute smile on your face.

You gazed at Levi as your heart skipped a beat, for a while you'd been in love with the Captain and you had noticed he was so soft with you. The letters started not long after he was sweeter to you, so you figured Levi was your secret admirer. You tried to get close to him, but he seemed to get flustered.

You rose to your feet and approached him. "Want me to lock the door?"

"Y-Yes."

You locked up your office door and turned to the sweet Captain. "I'm all yours now, Levi."

He shoved the flowers into your arms. "Tch, t-take them!"

You felt your heart flutter at the beautiful bouquet in your arms. "These are beautiful, thank you." You moved closer to him as he clenched up. "May I kiss your cheek?"

He gulped hard as he gripped his blazer. "I-I umm...uh...you..."

"If you don't feel comfortable I won't."

He grabbed your wrist and yanked you over to him, but he used too much strength causing his nose to bang against your cheek. "A-Ah, s-sorry."

You hummed a laugh. "It's okay." You tilted your head and kissed his cheek. "Thank you for all your letters too. You're incredibly romantic."

"You're welcome." He blushed hard when he realised what you'd said. "You...you knew?"

You nodded as you placed the flowers in a vase of water. "Yes." You moved to your desk and revealed all the letters in your drawer. "I kept all of them. They make me so happy. I adore every single one of them. I tried talking to you about them, but you would get so nervous and flustered that you'd run." You moved closer to him. "I'm glad you're not now." You pointed to the letter in his front pocket. "This another letter for me?"

He grabbed your hand and stopped you from taking it. "I...don't want you to read it."

"Something wrong?"

He released a long sigh. "I want to tell you how I feel and not a letter."

You sat on the edge of your desk and smiled at the cute Captain. "I'm all ears."

He gulped hard. "I can do this." He released a long sigh before grabbing your face in both hands and kissing you roughly. He hummed in delight when you clung to him happily and kissed him back. He pulled back and panted. "S-sorry, I said I would confess but ended up kissing you." He gulped hard. "You're just so kissable."

You giggled. "You're so cute."

He hugged you tightly causing your face to press against his chest. "S-sorry, your face is just...I just want to kiss you. I need to..." He sighed. "I'm in love with you. I want to be with you. I will be clumsy and I'm sorry in advance, but I will work hard to be the perfect boyfriend to you. I want to be with you forever." He released a long sigh and let you go. "That's how I feel." He looked you in the eyes. "You are so smart, kind, caring, funny and beautiful. You keep me guessing and I'm always in awe of you. You're incredible beyond words can describe. You're this shining light in my life, like the light that filtered through one small part of the underground city."

You welled up at his sweet words. "Oh, Levi. I want you too. You sweet and romantic man."

So... Before the stream starts, I wanna talk a bit about Pac and how he has been developing to the point of sacrificing himself. Let's go besties!

Pac feels completely alone. He said it himself, he doesn't has Mike, he doesn't has Richas, Forever lost his mind and Felps often disappears in his square

His decision to get the pills by sacrificing himself is the only way he feels able to help Cellbit, because it's just the two of them now. He feels he needs to do this because if he doesn't, someone else will do it, and he feels he's the only useless one

His suicidal tendencies have been getting worse, yesterday as he jumped on the mines he got to the point of bleeding out on the ground 5 times one after the other and have hallucinations that he was dying and going to heaven. He can't take this anymore. He can't take the solitude and the destruction around him and the hopelessness, he has to do something

It hurts me to think about his last interactions with his family. He pulled Cellbit into a hug that Cellbit had no time to reciprocate, and told him monday would be a better day for sure before leaving back to the lab. To Fit, he told his plan that he wanted to get the pills... And Fit didn't understand what he meant

That fucked me up btw. Fit never understood Pac wanted to give in to the treatment. Maybe it was stubborn hope and forced naivety to ignore the truth. He thought Pac wanted to steal from Forever, and the last talk the two had, Pac said once again "I'll find a cure after I get the pills, Fit", and Fit encouraged him. He said Pac could do it and then they said a brief goodbye before Fit rushed away. Pac lingered, tho, standing in place and watching Fit go. Fit didn't notice it wasn't a " see you soon", it was a "goodbye"

And to Forever? Forever tried so hard to tell Pac off. To shake his head and make him back away, but Pac had his mind set on it. Even Pac's words had a lot of truth in them. Yes, it was for the better. Yes, he wanted this. Yes, they'll take a picture of all the family together again. Pac was so tired, and he moved so slow compared to Forever's forced energy. Their goodbyes were "Favela Five until the end", Forever doesn't know Pac wrote those exact words to Cellbit, and he was the last person to see Pac before he was gone, a weak smile and a wave before following Cucurucho

He can't forget. He kept repeating it. He can't forget. He won't forget. He'll do this for his family and he needs to at least give away one of the pills to someone so they also have it in case Pac can't go through his studies. He wrote a letter to himself to remember... And he's still an optimistic when writing it, saying he'll manage to get through it, that it will all end well

He did this to take away the weight from anyone else, so no one has to hurt Forever, so no one else has to sacrifice himself, so Cellbit can find an answer and doesn't try to do it alone

S5 Prediction: Will & MIKE'S 7 Confession (letter) + Garage Light Kiss Theory (Alternate/Revised Theory!)

OH. MY. GOD. GUYS! I think I just figured it out for real this time. I connected the two dots before...but i missed the third and final dot. BUCKLE UP B*TCHES.

We all know about my "full-circle garage light flicker theory" where Mike and Will can affect s1 ep1 through the upside-down in s5, and when they kiss the garage light flickers in season 1. Well, in my old theory I said "Will parallels his younger self and says the truth", but NOW I THINK IT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE MIKE.

This comes down to the letter. I used to think Mike's letter would just be a case of dramatic irony, to inform the audience of Mike's true feelings. I thought maybe the letter was about Mike rebuilding castle Byers after s3 (which i still think he did btw). But I just read this post from doriandrifting (READ IT), and now I think he wrote the letter about the D&D campaign. Like an IDIOT, I forgot about the date in the tweet! And then I really thought about it and...this changes EVERYTHING. Prepare yourselves. (it's 4:00 AM rn but I DON'T CARE) i'm gonna copy and paste the beginning of my old theory, sorry. you can skip ahead to “it’s parallel time” :)

To start off, I think that Mike and Will are going to end up in the upside-down together in S5. The upside down and Will are connected narratively, seeing as it’s literally frozen on the night he went missing.

Obviously there is going to be a reason for that. To bring his story full-circle, it’s pretty much inevitable that in the final season, Will is going to end up back in the upside-down. Just like it’s inevitable that this time Mike will be there with him. Which is why at the end of season 4, they both sit on an upside down couch together.

The next part of this theory has to do with Will having powers. It’s why Will is paralleled to Vecna, Eleven, and Bastian from NeverEnding Story, and could open a portal in s1. It also fits with his overall character arc (becoming a hero after being a victim). I won’t make this post a mile long by going through all the evidence (links to some proof here, here , here and here and in the long version of my theory.) But for now, trust me when I say it’s probably going to be revealed that Will can manipulate electricity/time/the upside-down in S5. 

Remember, El was originally supposed to die after season one, which makes the notion of Will having powers extremely likely.

Okay? Okay. So here’s the theory:

Mike and Will are in the upside-down, which is stuck on the day Will went missing in 1983. While in the upside-down, Mike and Will end up at the Wheeler House.

Time is frozen on Nov 6, which is the first episode of season 1. I think that somehow, Mike and Will are going to be able to affect the other side in season 1 (specifically Nov 6), through the upside-down in season 5.

How though? We know that (as of now) time still flows normally on the other side, unlike the upside-down. However, that could change. Like, what if time were to start moving again in the upside-down? This could happen because of Will's subconscious mind. It’s also safe to say that s5 will include some wacky time shenanigans, which could explain how this is possible. (s5 time-travel proof here, here, here, and here) But even just on the surface level, why the hell else would the show’s villain thematically be obsessed with the progression of time, be accompanied by the sound of a clock chime, and create visions of grandfather clock? Why else would Hopper’s s3 letter talk about “turning back the clock”? Why else would there be so many Back to The Future references? Why else would the Duffers talk so much about "going back to season one", or the story coming "full-circle" in season five?

There are multiple electricity shortages in s1. What if some of these moments, like when Ted fiddles with the TV in the background of season 1, were actually caused by Will (or El) in season 5? The screen looks suspiciously like how the TV screen looked when Eleven mind jumped in s2 and s3. Now for the good part:

IT’S PARALLEL TIME!

In the upside-down, Mike and Will are going to stand in the same spot at the same time as their younger selves on the other side.

The concept of Lies is a HUGE recurring theme and motif in Stranger Things. One of the very first bits of characterization we learn about Will, is that he doesn’t lie to Mike. Even though it was just a white lie and Even though he could have got away with it. Even though it meant he lost, “Friends don’t LIE.” Will waited until the other boys left before telling Mike the Truth.

I think that Mike is going to mirror Will, and confess the truth to him. From the very start, we are shown that Mike and Will have an honest and different bond than rest of the party. Which is why in season five, MIKE is going to remember this, and be able to lie.

Season 5 MIKE is going to parallel season 1 WILL, and THEY ARE BOTH going to admit the TRUTH to each-other at the same exact time (across time)! (7+7=14) winning roll!

Season 5, UPSIDE-DOWN:

for example:

Mike: “you lied about the painting being from El”

(the TRUTH about why Will made THE PAINTING for Mike is addressed--LOVE!)

Will: "You’re being stupid! It's not my fault you couldn't say you love her!"

WILL parallels MIKE during the SEASON THREE GARAGE SCENE:

Mike: "It is" (TRUTH)

MIKE parallels WILL during the SEASON ONE GARAGE SCENE:

Mike gives Will his letter (The TRUTH about why Mike made the 10 hour D&D CAMPAIGN is addressed--LOVE!)

(TRUTH=7) An UPSIDE-DOWN 7 is a capital L. The song which plays when Mike and Eleven kiss at the end of s3 (when Mike realizes he's gay) is "The First I love You". The "L" is NOT capitalized, because it’s not the TRUTH. In his letter, the "L" IS capitalized!

so at the same time (across time)...

MIKE: TRUTH=7, WILL: TRUTH=7 (7+7=14, the winning roll in D&D!)

THE THIRD AND FINAL GARAGE SCENE: (writing comes in 3's)

THEY KISS

Between them, metaphorical electricity  FLARES (and potentially Will’s literal powers), as his brain short-circuits. As they kiss, “Heroes” by David Bowie plays, and the lyrics “the guns, shot above our heads, (over our heads)” narrates as electricity shoots above their heads. (Either bc of the kiss or confession) The camera pans up to the garage light over their heads, which flickers.

the audience can feel the electricity between Mike and Will. Just like how Dustin could feel the electricity between Lucas and Max.

"i could feel it." "What?" "The electricity." (are “friends” electric?)

at the same time...

Season 1, OTHER SIDE:

Will: "It was a 7, the demogorgan, it got me.” (TRUTH=7)

Will sounded disappointed about losing, but Mike DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING. He doesn't say how he "really feels". He just stands there and watches Will leave. Mike notices the garage light flicker above him. This is a metaphor for the electricity which just passed between them. Love=Electricity, and Mike just noticed it, which is why the scene directly following this one is him going inside to write a letter of what he wanted to say, which he signs "-Love, Mike."

This would act as dramatic irony because at the same exact time in the upside-down, Mike JUST SAID what he really wanted to say in this moment BY GIVING WILL HIS LETTER and/or confessing. Unbeknownst to him, his future self just confessed, and the flicker is actually when they kiss in the upside down.

This reveal would be meaningful, because Mike wrote the ten hour DnD campaign but doesn't give Will the letter saying why (Love), and Will makes the painting but he lies about why (Love). In the upside-down, the TRUTH about both of these gestures is revealed.

In this moment, Mike's future self says what HE was too ashamed too in season one. Mike never got the chance to give Will his letter before the "demogorgan" got him.

"Anyway, I think you’ll still beat the campaign. Sorry I couldn’t get it done before my mom made everyone leave, but you mean so much to me, and it’s been so much fun to make it for you. Hope this is enough motivation to last until we can finish it next weekend. -Love, Mike"

THE UPSIDE-DOWN, SEASON 5:

As they kiss, “Heroes” by David Bowie continues...

in season one, Mike is still ashamed of his love for Will. Which is why the scene cuts off with the line “shame”.

This time when the song plays, it will be different though. This time, the full verse will play as they kiss.

“and we kiss as though nothing could fall and the shame… was on the OTHER SIDE.”

Mike and Will are in the upside-down, and at the same time their ashamed younger selves were literally on the other side. When they finally kiss as if nothing could fall, they leave their shame on the other side (in the the past).

Or alternatively

Mike and Will are alone together in the upside-down, and the rest of society is on the other side. Because of this, they are able to finally kiss as if nothing could fall, and forget about how they would be shamed for it on the other side.

(based on the rest of the lyrics, they probably think they are going to die when this happens btw)

Emily of New Moon Book Club Chapters 9 and 10

I'm caught up again! (Spoilers: It will not last.)

Chapter 9

I find it odd, in comparison to LMM's other books, that Emily's schoolmates are rarely if ever seen after these first scenes. It's as though Emily collects 3 people and then decides no one else is worth mentioning again. I want to know what happened to Grace and Carrie and Jennie!

Oh those letter bills! I know exactly how she felt. My parents were of the mind of Aunt Elizabeth, that extraneous paper was not needed in the house. I can still remember my joy when I came solely into possession of a whole sheaf of paper for an old model dot matrix printer. No one had one, so the paper was useless to everyone but me, and it lasted me for ages. Every time I read this bit of Emily I remember how I gloated over that heavy stack.

'I wrote Ellen Greene and asked about him [Mike, her cat] and she replyed and never mentioned Mike but told me all about her roomatism. As if I cared about her roomatism.'

Again, Emily retreats and soothes her hurt feelings by imagining out her death - by drowning this time - to make Aunt Elizabeth feel guilty. Honestly, me at ten 😂

I'm glad the aunts' reactions didn't kill her attempts at poetry! I would've been flattened.

Yay, she can read the books at New Moon! After the first night when Aunt Elizabeth scolded her, I could only imagine her face pressed against the glass door fronts wistfully looking at all the books.

And I laugh every time at her attempting to emulate the saint and it going badly, while she wraps up with, 'So I know it wouldn't work. Besides, I like to eat.'

I wonder what types of things Laura does on the sly? Her suggestion to Emily always seems to be to do what she likes, just don't let Elizabeth find out.

Chapter 10

Ooo the birthday party chapter, always so painful!

I forgot this was the same chapter where Emily puts on Archibald's face for the first time! Poor Aunt Elizabeth - he must have been truly awful if even a glimpse of him makes her flee. And yet, she used to argue with him despite that - I wonder what an Elizabeth of New Moon book would be like?

Dun dun dun, 'Aunt Elizabeth's time had come.'

Okay, I'm gonna re-write the whole thing cause I didn't check it for grammar mistakes last time.

The two birds were sitting on a branch near the three waterfalls when everything suddenly made sense to Mike - the three waterfalls represented queerness. That is why they had to leave the local village. All these years, ever since they agreed to go crazy together…how could he not know? 

After all, he had repressed his feelings for too long and when Will’s beak gave him butterflies he pushed the mere thoughts of him to the depths of his heart.

Mike looked at Will’s dazzling honey kissed eyes and decided to finally rid himself of the tempting urge, get it over and kiss him. When Mike decided to stop the parrot heart-eyed staring contest, a rainbow formed above their heads. Everything was perfec-

“Mike!”

“MIKE! GET UP!” 

“What the fu-” Mike mouthed, opening his eyes trying to recover from whatever self questioning shit he had dreamt.

‘’You’re gonna be late!’’ Shouted Nancy.

‘’Shit- just let me get dressed-’’

Mike had just had the biggest realization of his life. Could he possibly like Will?

-He had found it way easier to write letters to will than to el when they lived in California. He always signed Will's letters with Love, Mike but just wrote From, Mike for El’s letters. He didn’t send Will’s letters because he always ended up writing 5 pages for him and 1 page for El.

-His friendship with him was always different from his other friendships. They loved being physically close to each other when they were kids, whether that meant holding hands, bumping shoulders or cuddling on sleepovers. Mike still loved being close to Will.

-He looked at Will's lips a lot.

He definitely liked Will. 

Nancy was already making her way towards the door. Mike sighed, realizing he had been staring at the ceiling. He’d have to bike again.

Mike never thought he’d spend so much time thinking about a dream with parrots in it. Not only that, but ever since that morning, he hadn’t been sleeping well, he’d been dreading school, and he’d been picking at the skin around his nails more than usual. When he was actually able to sleep, he would have the same dream all over again, like his mind was doing it on purpose.

He knew the party suspected something was up with him, especially Will. The thing was, talking to someone he’d had a crush on for way more than a week without realizing, was very hard to do without being blatantly obvious.

‘’Mike? You’ve been looking more and more depressed for the past week.’’ Max deadpaned, with her ’I’m gonna torture you until you tell me what’s up’ face.

‘’Gee, thanks Max’’ He said, hoping she’d drop the subject.

Max had been placed in the same homeroom as him, and since they hadn’t gotten along that well before and Mike wanted to make up, they’d been getting to know each other better. Mike was shocked when he realized that they were surprisingly alike. They both had anger issues and didn’t know how to talk about their feelings properly.

‘’Come on, even Lucas and Dustin can tell something’s going on, and they’re hopeless. You can talk to me.’’ 

Mike only knew she was serious because they weren’t insulting each other, but she’d go back to teasing him if he told her what had been bothering him. Nevertheless, she’d also annoy him until he told her.

‘’ Nothing’s going on!’’

‘’ Nothing!? You’ve been zoning out more than ever at lunch, Mike. I know that we’re both terrible at feelings, but maybe telling me would help?’’

Mike scoffed, blushing with embarrassment at the fact that he was going to tell Max of all people about his crush.

He became aware of his surroundings, and about the fact that a crowded high school corridor in a conservative town in the 80’s wasn’t the best place to tell her he liked Will, specifically because rumors were fast to get around.

‘’Not. Here.’’

‘’We can…skip class?’’ Max smirked mischievously, pointing towards the open exit door.

She ran out the door, turned on her walkman and started riding her skateboard.

‘’MAX! - WAIT FOR ME!’’

They finally got to where the Party usually stayed when they skipped class. The spot was close to Castle Byers, which Mike had spent the previous summer renovating it as an apology to Will for being an asshole.

“Spit it out.’’ Said Max, who was already using her skateboard as a seat and turning off her walkman.

Mike sat on top of his coat, sighed and slightly covered his face with his hands, scared of how she might react. 

‘’I’ve been weird because I realized I like someone.”

“Okay…?’’ Max said while she opened a bag of chips ‘’Do I know this person?’’

‘’Yeah, you know hi- them’’

‘’Him? Are they a boy?’’

Mike looked up, expecting to see a disgusted look on her face, but instead found a perfectly calm one.

“Yeah.” 

“Ok.’’

‘’You’re… not mad?’’ He said, utterly confused.

‘’Oh my god, Mike, why would I be mad?’’ Max scoffed ‘’ Don’t freak out if it’s not, but is it -Will?

‘’Wait- how did you know?’’ 

Now he was confused.

‘’You know when I said you were zoning out? Well, you’ve been zoning out - like- looking at him. Not to mention you’ve both been head over heels for each other for years?’’

‘’Both?’’

‘’If you ask me, Will likes you back. No offense, but I wouldn’t call your relationship platonic’’

‘’So you’re saying I should tell him?’’

‘’Yeah, unless you want to stay like this forever?’’

Max was right. He would have to tell Will eventually.

‘’What if he doesn’t like me back? And- how am I supposed to tell him?’’

‘’You have to figure it out yourself.’’

I wanted to make a post about what the guitar(s) is Mike’s room could mean because quite frankly, I’m not at all convinced that Mike will play the guitar next season!

Set design says something about the characters and since this is Mike’s bedroom it obviously says something about him. But those props have deeper meaning than simply “they just like this”, like the ONE WAY sign obviously isn’t there to convey the message that “Hey, Mike thinks traffic signs are awesome”. The props in Mike’s room tell a story about Mike, something significant to understand his character and so having the guitar(s)‘s only purpose be that Mike likes playing the guitar doesn’t seem to make that much sense, especially because Mike has never expressed an interest in music ever. Now, you could argue that pre s4 Lucas also never expressed an interest in basketball and that he still likes it but basketball and the basketball team all played major roles in Lucas’ arc this season! We get introduced to Lucas being a part of the team and we focus on that throughout the whole season while with Mike they only really quickly show the head of an acoustic guitar and a completely blurry garbage pail kids sticker which features an electric guitar. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it kinda thing which is why I think it would be weird if it actually just represents Mike liking the guitar [especially because that interest in music doesn’t come up again for the rest of the season!] because you would actually have to look deeper into the set design and look for deeper meanings to actually catch especially the electric guitar on the garbage pail kids sticker!

I think it’s way more likely that we would get a love confession through something like a letter/letters (lettergate) than through a song because letters and especially Mike writing and not writing letters is a reoccurring theme in s4 along with Mike making phone calls (phonegate). It’s simply way more logical to expand on a topic that’s been touched on before than to just randomly add something new that’s never been shown/discussed beforehand. [especially because s4 and s5 go hand in hand]

And well….. I guess I’m gonna say it: Mike being really into music is fanon! Mike is a part of hellfire not corroded coffin! Yeah, Mike tries to be more like Eddie but he doesn’t do that because he genuinely wants to be exactly like Eddie. He does it because he doesn’t like being himself! Mike does not actually aspire to be just like Eddie and do everything Eddie does. There’s of course nothing wrong with headcanoning that he does but there’s nothing in canon to solidly back up that Mike’s really into playing the guitar/making music and therefore it is very unlikely to happen in the show and honestly nonsensical as well (imo). So Mike very probably won’t be playing the guitar next season because for the narrative it doesn’t hold as much value as a letter/letters or missed phone calls! Simply because we’re already familiar with the topic of Mike and letters/phone calls while the guitar and a song would come out of the blue and therefore doesn’t have the same effect as finding out that Mike did write letters to Will [or my personal fave: wrote a letter to Will in 1983 which is signed “love, Mike” which they’ll find in the ud in s5] and did try to call him! The reveal of that is just a better payoff for all their fighting because it directly connects to what their fight was about and clears up the miscommunication.

But the guitar(s) in Mike’s room still exists. There is something to it so what I did is I looked up some guitar symbolism (I only found results for what guitars in dreams represent) and I found some interesting things which I think fit extraordinarily well with what Mike’s feeling and going through:

There is also a theme going on with a lot of props in Mike’s bedroom primarily hinting at his sexuality/gayness, as does the whole scene. So I actually also visited a site which described the guitar as a masculine instrument and that the sound of an electric guitar is also very masculine (and passionate) so the guitar(s) in Mike’s room could of course also hint at the fact that Mike is drawn to masculinity/attracted to men which makes even more sense when we remember that the show has already touched on the topic of sexual electricity while both guitars are surrounded by electricity (= the garbage pail kids card features the image of electricity tightly and directly connected to the electric guitar and our attention gets drawn to the acoustic guitar by a lamp which of course works with electricity and actually doesn’t have any need to be on during the day).

If you’ve read my post about the other garbage pail kids cards you’d know that all of them reflect something that happened to their respective st character (though I’m still unsure with Steve) (I am however sure that all of the cards reflect something that happened to each character as well as something personal about Mike since this is still his bedroom!) so Mike’s card probably also reflects some event from s4 and I personally think it’s the monologue! I also found something about what dreams about getting electrocuted by an electric guitar mean and what I found fits pretty well:

“Live Mike” (name of the garbage pail kids card) is only one letter away from “Love Mike” and during the monologue Mike finally tells El that he loves her but he only does this because Will’s last minute encouragement lead him to believe that El’s live depends on it! So he just starts saying things without actually thinking about them in a desperate attempt to save her life which horribly backfires and only causes more problems in the end! (For this we have to remember that the garbage pail kid in the card literally getting electrocuted while playing the guitar is something negative which is why it works well with this interpretation but doesn’t really make sense if it was to reflect a love confession via song and guitar in s5). Someone also pointed out that “Live Mike” is of course a play on “Live mic” so by turning on the microphone (starting to speak) Mike gets electrocuted (something negative happens = the monologue). The monologue is also of course connected to Mike’s personal internal struggle with his self worth and sexuality/identity and therefore it also connects to the card’s personal meaning for Mike.
