Is there a place you could slip off to and wash your clothes or get a change of clothes? Even if they don't stay clean, just that little piece of freshness might perk your system up for a bit. (Not trying to pick on you, I know you're in a tough spot. Stay safe-- Love you, buddy.)

someone pointed out akutagawa was always the protector in the slums and dazai was the first person who said he would look out for and protect akutagawa, keep him safe. and we all know how that backfired and so now akutagawa won’t trust anyone to protect him and it just got me thinking, holy shit i have a character type.
chuuya and akutagawa as the protectors of their groups, every time they get the chance they choose that burden. they care for their people and want them safe, want them to be okay.
for chuuya this attitude sticks, no matter where he is or who his people are, they’re all his people and he will look out for them, no amount of pain or tragedy or loss will ever stop him from protecting.
for akutagawa, after dazai, he still protects his allies in combat, but there’s no care or kindness in that protection. chuuya keeps his subordinates safe and is kind to them, akutagawa makes sure they stay alive, that’s all.

Some notes on agni kais and burn scars based on my obsessive atla rewatching, because I think these details can be forgotten and they give an interesting view of fire nation culture
zukos crew dont know how he got the burn, and say they thought it was a training accident. Presumably while zukos fateful agni kai had an audience, it was just powerful people close to royalty, and what happened was not widely publicised
Supported by the fact the young fire nation teens on ember island dont recognise zuko by his scar - nor do they seem particularly bothered by it
i find it doubtful that agni kais are always expected to be to the death as some people have theorised. Zhao would not have encouraged zuko to land a final blow if it was, and I think iroh would have argued more firmly against the duel. I think its more likely that its "to the burn" or when an opponent just can't fight any more.

Just. Rita of Cascia and Mary of Magdala. You want to join a convent named after the disciple of disciples, no other will do. You get refused two times, but when your neighbors ask you why you’re forlorn, you still say it was your home they locked you out of. You make it in, aided by your patron saints. She wasn’t among them, but maybe that’s only because she was already waiting for you inside. You celebrate her feast day every year for forty years, until your death. Maybe you even celebrate her feast day whenever the 22nd rolls around each month, unaware that every May you’re celebrating your feast day as well. You would feel envious of her, for never having been tied down to a man she didn’t want, a man other than your Lord, but only if you were a little less saintly, a little less marked for Heaven, but you are what you are (and you are just like her) so you can only feel bone deep admiration. It’s good that you don’t mind, because in the end, the centuries will write you both to be just wives — folklore cares very little about the truth; people adore a love story, and the one she had with Him was too visceral to comprehend, so they reduced it to romance. They held your story as a romance, too, when it was a trial, a fight for change, a proof of patience (You're not sure what 'romance' is supposed to mean anymore). Her face in your casket, the original one, the one that was painted when only the people who knew you were aware that you were a saint; the only other person in it is the One that binds you two together. Her convent will become yours. The entire city will be known for you, and few will remember it was the convent of Mary Magdalene to begin with. I think you still feel guilty for it. I think she’s thrilled for you. I think God remembers, always, that it was the women by the Cross.

I'm v curious abt Talon's mesoamerican origins and evolution in general how does his accent sound when written out? after such a long life what is the strongest vestige of those times he has (aside from physical features and so on). I can't believe some rando bloodsucker colonized my boy
I have no idea what his accent wld sound like as the few videos i cld find of people speaking his original language, are, of course, mainly spanish speakers! And I can sometimes hear the difference in spanish as they switch between the 2 while being interviewed but i struggle to mentally transplant that as to how it'd sound in English ykwim 😭 there's also the fact that its the modern language spoken by them so it has evolved alongside and borrows from spanish anyway, by those who still speak it and speak both Today
Im actually still zeroing in on fleshing out more of that lore, since I can't find too much info on the specific culture i envision for him, it may really just have to be "fantasy culture INSPIRED by the people" instead, so i dont completely botch actual historical info 😮💨 either that or go very vague off of the info available
