We have had another Trespasser Weirdness Incident at my house, so. Suffice it to say that the Hot & Vintage Movie Women tournament is my primary coping mechanism at this point, and bless @hotvintagepoll for all their work. All 257 polls are up, although many of them have already closed on a rolling basis these last two weeks. Hedy Lamarr vs Sonja Henie was the very last one, and it is a blowout like I have not seen since the time I asked if people throw away their movie theater trash. I think round 2 starts a week from Monday? I would like to apologize for reblogging every single poll, except that I’m not the least bit sorry. 

I posted propaganda several times--sometimes just because a contestant didn’t have much and I wanted to chip in (still in play: Juanita Moore and Martha Sleeper). Hello new blog!! I'm going to start 🌸fresh 鲜 🌸

Ok. I have read this book in English before, and I know absolutely NO ONE in the history of ever has tried learning Chinese through this book. I already have some experience (up to HSK3 lmao 🐣) but I'm determined. Fight me I'm doing it. ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

How I decided on this was a few years back I wanted to read Husky and His White Cat Teacher 二哈和他的白毛师尊 but it was all fan translated. After a certain point, the fan translators wanted me to support the author, so I bought the original Chinese copy and sent them a picture as proof of support, then I got the document of the translation to continue reading. I sobbed so hard and felt so many more feelings than ever before, and despite the dark side of the book, it became my favorite instantly. Now I bought the official translated book and am excited to collect them all like Pokémon.

It is somewhat similar in usage to the word 'great' in English, with the following meanings: Impressive or skilled: 他的功夫非常厉害。= He is very skilled in martial arts. 太厉害了，他是怎么做到的？ = Very impressive, how did he manage to achieve that? formidable: 厉害的角色 = A formidable figure (not one to be messed around with). 厉害的手段 = formidable tactics (in a sporting game, or as part of political intrigue) severe: 某某股跌得太厉害了 = Stock X has taken a severe fall (in value) 厉害 can also mean a few things when describing a person and relies heavily on the context. Dressing Up As Their Movies for Halloween: Alice in Wonderland

This is like in a self-aware MC au. You know you're in a Disney inspired property, and chose to go as Alice for Halloween this year. The dorms also know who your costume is thanks to your stories.

There will be other parts to this of people like it. Idk how well this will do though so I may loose motivation and drop it 😭 thanks for reading

(If you want a traditional version, it's actually pretty simple to put together compared to other costumes. However, getting something "Alice inspired" is much easier. You just need to get Che'nya's help stealing from a certain someone's wardrobe.)

Trey is very quick to give compliments. He most likely puts the connection together right away and enjoys seeing you in something a bit more frilly then your usual wear.

Ace and Deuce will definitely take a few minutes to understand what character you're trying to portray. It's oddly familiar, but they can't pin point why.

^They have short attention spans and probably didn't really listen to any of the deeper detail you gave when retelling the original Alice in Wonderland story.

(^^Ace was too focused on making comparisons between the Red Queen's tyranny and Riddle's own rule while Deuce was simply just caught up in the scandal.)

Cater has probably already asked you about your costume before you revealed it to the others. Whilst a bit disappointed that he can't exactly match with you -his plans for halloween already spoken for- he takes a lot more pictures for his social media then usual.

^^Admittedly no one outside knows what the hell the costume is supposed to be of because many people already dresses like that, but the dorms do, and that's all that matters. They're really all he's trying to show off to.

Riddle definitely blushes a lot at first, torn between being flattered that you chose the supposed hero from his story and also insulted for that same reason.

Also he's CONSTANTLY readjusting your outfit whenever something is out of place. He says it's because you're currently representing his dorm, so you must be more presentable. You both know that's only half true.

If you wear a wig, Ace will definitely pull it off at one point. There's no mercy behind those eyes.

Begging for help is useless. Especially from Deuce, who will just shake his head and shrug. (<Though, he probably suggests that Ace looks better with it on.)

Trey will help you readjust you wig when you do, eventually, get it back. He'll smooth it down and comb out any tiny knots, but you'll need Cater to make it look good.

Riddle probably does brag a little about your costume to the other dorms. It's not super obvious, of course, but put a bunch of your boyfriends in a room and eventually people start comparing.

(^ Of course, if you believe a good chunk of them are also dating, this is only funnier.)

Trey thankfully saves you from any actual confrontation with other dorms -several of which are desperately trying to change your costume choice. You can guess who.

Probably one of the more comfortable costume options. Ace suggests this is a good reason for you to wear it more often.

Most of the pictures taken of you in your Alice outfit don't involve anyone else in costume lmao. It's like someone ordered family pictures. You just look normal amongst the cards. Which is a noticeable difference in comparison to your usual Ramshackle uniform.

Every cosplayer's dream. Until you ask Riddle to have a tea party and he takes it too seriously.

Especially great if you dress Grim up as Chesire Cat. Che'nya may get a kick out of it but Ace and Deuce will never let the little magical rat bastard live it down.

what colour are your eyes?: a mixture of blue, green and grey that looks puddle-coloured most of the time.

tell me about your pets/your dream pet: after 15 wonderful years, our family dog paul (i named him that when i was five lol) unfortunately passed away in august 2023, i loved that dog more than most people. (there were some pictures of him here, but i got nervous that someone i know might see this so i removed them lmao). i'd love to get a dog or a cat at some point later in my life, but not now or any time soon.

share some interesting fact about yourself: i'm genuinely incredibly boring, so much so that i had to ask for help to find an answer here. the council decided on the fact that i know how to ride and own a motorcycle and am also a member in an mf in my hometown.

what was the first fandom you were a part of?: i guess the first time i was properly involved with fandom in any capacity was during my teen wolf days.

do you have any phobias?: i don't know if it's bad enough to be considered a phobia, but i'm terrified of heights. there have been several instances of me breaking down crying despite trying to keep it together while being in very high places (usually while having to climb dodgy stairs in very high buildings, among other things).

are you a picky eater? if so, what food can't you stand?: YES! and i hate it because it's so so limiting and annoying. i am incredibly sensitive regarding taste and texture and i have to physically force myself to hold back visceral reactions to foods i don't like. it'd probably be easier to list the foods i can eat tbh.

This bracket has been quiet recently but now it is time to resume it. But I have a buncha changes to make bc let's face it, this bracket? It's an unorganized mess lmao

Also I was thinking of going back to doing 2 groups of contestants at a time again, y'know 8 votes at once. Because let's face it this bracket is huge & honestly some of the entrants I kiiiind of wish I didn't put in.

Example of what I mean: Hanamusa. Don't get me wrong I love that ship, they've brought me so much comfort. But honestly they got like 600 votes. & Something about seeing them bring in THAT MUCH ATTENTION but none of the other polls got anywhere close to that kind of attention & knowing they'll probably just completely sweep the entire thing makes me think putting them in was not a great move. If only because it's gonna be super unfair & also makes me a bit sad that none of the other parts of the bracket are gonna get that much attention. life and whatnot

It's not very good but I wanted to say I'm managing. Barely. Thank you for your comments on my last post about Isis. I appreciate them more than I can say. And a huge thank you to @thoseveganelves for a beautiful drawing of her that is my lock screen on my phone <3 thank you again. I'm having problems with Lilly now. I truly hope she'll be ok and they're more behavioral than something actually wrong but there are a few concerning things. Moreover, me and my mom's relationship is shit. She did something yesterday involving Lilly and I'm not sure I can forgive her. Or anything that's happened since the lumbar puncture I wish I never did. It was supposed to be an easy procedure to get a diagnosis and treatment but it ruined my life to such a terrible degree lol wild. I'm exhausted. My head gets pretty severe and then I'll have a break. Enough now that I have been able to watch some shows for the first time in years! They have to be easy and relatively calm shows with not much action or fast camera movement but the fact that I can while my head is in a respite is pretty great. I was working on art like crazy too but shit happened and my creative bug disappeared for a while. I'm writing in another fandom and started up more recently again after a short break. It sucks not to be creative b/c arting/writing is still about all I can do. I do miss bagginshield quite a lot right now. My neurologist is still an asshole. I cry every time I have to interact with him in some way and when I tried to switch within the same group, they wouldn't allow it. They had to talk to him about it so now he knows I'm trying to escape him lmao but thankfully the next time I see neuro is with his PA and I'll get a break from him. It's insane how they can do this to patients and not give a fuck. I lied out my teeth tho when I was trying to switch and said he did right by me, with absolutely no problems (totally didn't leave me in excruciating pain for five entire months). Oh well! My mom and I are supposed to start family therapy soon but they're not calling me back which is strange. My therapist is trying to get them to move on it. It was pulling teeth to get my mom to agree and took a massive fight for that to happen. She used to be my number one. Now I can't trust her with me or my fucking cat. My entire body tenses so badly when she is here. I love my mom with all my heart but I do not like who she has become. I'm so tired. MH is in the tank. I miss Isis severely. She was my soul cat and what happened to her was awful. But her spirit is here. I was never a spiritual person before but too many things are happening that are distinctly Isis™ so I know she's here. Beyond what may be a medical issue, Lilly has blossomed into a different cat, most of it good, but she has seemed very unsettled at times and it hasn't calmed down much since mid-May. Keeping an eye on her. Her vet gave us a prescription for gabapentin and it fucked Isis up so much that I'm nervous about it. But Isis was weird like me and cats usually respond well to it. I hate to make Lilly sedated in any way too but she may have some tooth pain rn and it'd help that. I have pretty bad nerve pain in my face and gaba is a lifesaver for me. Anyway this is rambling like usual. I'm tired and I'm unwell and just want to be well enough to be by myself with my cat again. I have a long road ahead of me to get there. literally i always love when charas make plushies of them and their crush/s/o kiss and thats the only reason theyre idols but since im already in this direction. cwn’s like an older generation idol who retired a little before mr became a trainee and ended up as his mentor

mr had always been a fan of cwn since he was younger and had saved up so much of his allowance to splurge on his merch back when he was popular, and his most prized possession is a cute plushie of his idol with a onesie that has cat ears on it…

later on mr becomes a very successful and popular idol, initially debuting w his cousin xue meng and friend shi mingjing to become san-sisheng (yes 三) but goes solo eventually and as a result of all his popularity too, gets plushie merch.

and mr, despite never really caring much about his merch before, other than if it included his husky motifs and appropriate colours, was super involved in the design and worked very hard to make the design look like it was from a similar style to cwn’s

(i mean he doesnt TELL them he wants it to be in that kind of style but when they brought it up he insisted he was picky abt plushie styles and wanted it to be like the cwn plushie, which he saw before and thought was especially cute in its style! the knowing gaze xue meng sent him throughout that meeting felt like a hot laser lol.. meanwhile mr internally was thinking about how to make a husky onesie for this plush so it can match the cwn one he had)

anyway mr hasnt been subtle about liking cwn this whole time but cwn’s always thought that it was just him as an idol that mr was infatuated with, which he was fine with anyway.

so imagine his surprise when one day he is at the xues’ house and when he knocks on mr’s door and opens it to tell him dinner is ready, he sees his doll next to mr’s in wedding outfits, red robes and all...

well it sure has been a while....

in no particular order, a few life updates since, what, 2015:

I did graduate undergrad, and got a Master's degree too, in Public History

and I had an entire career (5 years at an American Jewish history museum) before getting laid off early pandemic

and now I'm starting a whole new career, as an administrator at a Jewish educational nonprofit

at a workplace that is, dare I say, healthy???

(well, before current events happened, at least....)

(being one of two anti-Zionists at a mainstream Jewish org is rough and until now pretty rarely came up but.........)

I've also gotten super involved at my synagogue. like, took and completed a two year shaliach tzibur training program and now regularly lead services (and led a part of Rosh Hashanah services this year?????)

and leyn Torah so frequently that I now coordinate it for my shul lmao

and also have recruited/trained/supported several new leyners

and this coming Shabbat two of them are leyning for the first time, and one who has only leyned short 3–4 verse aliyot is leyning 10 verses

and I'm definitely crying during services lmao

seriously though, I've joked with my rabbi that I have a "punch card" of all the different modes of trope (Torah, haftarah, High Holidays, Purim, Tisha B'Av, the megillot, and sifrei emet) and so far I've learned all but the last two........

One of my friends is dead set on being a father. Like, he’d put his career on hold or throw it away entirely if it meant he could be a dad.

I’ve never understood it myself, but he’s got two much younger siblings and a dad who walked out on them when he was a teenager so he spent a lot of his childhood and all his teen years being the older brother AND father to them. I’m not very close with his siblings (not a fan of kids*) but he seems to have done a pretty bang up job with them as they’re both whole and healthy enough. He’s a pretty great guy himself too, so I think he’d be good at the whole parenting thing.

I don’t know what drives him, but if someone’s gonna produce and raise the next generation I damn well hope it’s people like him.

*I respect them as people and always want what’s best for children on an individual and group level, but I’ve got several personal things that make interacting with kids fairly hard on me. Of course I do my best to never let any kid notice that, but fatherhood wouldn’t be good for me or any kids involved. I think it’s kinder to not do that to me, my hypothetical partner, or our hypothetical kids. A couple of dogs and cats and maybe some other critters are more than enough for me, and hopefully I can find a partner who agrees with that sentiment. If not me and my creatures will just have to keep to ourselves lmao

Hopefully that'll work out for him! My mom raised her younger siblings, and when she had kids, she just figured that my sister would raise both herself and me. My sister, who has always been sharp and adamant about her own rights, thought "fuck that", didn't take up the responsibility that should never have been hers to begin with, and we were just both feral.

My Crow is a very passionate guy, it's never lost from his young warrior days. Many of the late Po3/early OotS moments where Leafpool is confessing her love in front of his wife and children are from him to her instead

Mudclaw and Torear are some of the best cooks in WindClan during the late Thistle Period. Crowpaw was super close with his mentor Mudclaw, and picked this up from him

For the Great Journey, Crow mashed up his personal collection of mealworms to make tunnelbun rations for everyone

And SPEAKING of the Great Journey, he was already a warrior at the time. His name was Crowfoot, for his mom and dad

Both Dead and Ash were old friends of Bluestar, members of the forget-me-nots.

Ashfoot shared this with him when he was young, and also that Tigerstar was responsible for killing his dad

This feeds into some changes I'm making to have Crow be slightly less frustrating during the Journey. He's still angry, short tempered, and dramatic, but MUCH less openly antagonistic

Squilf and him are usually involved in food related escapades, youll see when I finish the notes of TNP

Feathertail's death changes everyone. Crow most of all.

Crow is an impulsive young warrior. He throws himself headfirst into things, often forgetting that he isn't the only person in the world who matters. Feathertail felt like cool water, reminding him how to slow down and take a breath

The romantic affection was mutual, but imo I don't think it would have lasted.

But no one will ever know if it will, least of all Crowfoot, who is convinced that they both died that day in the mountain

Tallstar’s final name is Crow's honor title; Crowfeather.

And then Leafpooooooool

When she ultimately isn't willing to, like, throw away everyone she's ever loved and go live in the wildnerness with him, Crowfeather loses his marbles, convinced now that Actually He is Unlovable

And still he gets with Nightcloud, thinking that he can't possibly be hurt any more, he must re-prove his loyalty after he vanished for a week... it really was a pretty knee-jerk choice he didn't think through and rationalized post-hoc

No consideration for Nightcloud here.

This post isn't about Nightcloud btw but she is actually pretty reduxed too. The fact she was involved in the raid to kill Onewhisker is politically relevant to Breezepelt later

Crow is a garbage dad. Breeze is really not in a good environment with him and Nightcloud.

Through points in Po3, before Breeze becomes the villain who kills Firestar and sees a redemption in AVoS, I am planning several moments to establish that Breezepaw is perfectly capable of being a loving cat if he was in a better life situation

To Crowfeather's benefit, age will do wonders on mellowing him out.

He does tend to struggle with compassion though, and remains a pretty harsh character for most of his life.

Crow wanted to be a Light in the Mist to even begin to apologize to Breeze, but Breeze knocks him out lmao no more Crowf worship thanks erins

Anyway. Onto design stuff

Hollyleaf and Breezepelt look a LOT like grandpa Deadfoot, but I'm not sure if I want Crowfeather to look a lot like him

I'm leaning towards him looking like Ashfoot detail-wise but have Deadfoot’s face.

Btw you can observe, here, the WindClan Tail Tuft.

Most WindClan cats have a lighter-colored tail tuft to help them be seen in tall grass, it's a feature like the ThunderClan Mane you may have noticed in a lot of my TC cats.

Ashfoot and Morningflower have a cloudy swirl on their tails, and a "whispy" sort of vibe. Deadfoot and his dad Chicorynose have a dragon-arrow.

Concept art for what I’m calling the Double Bug AU! In essence, in this AU Marinette has a twin sister named Brigitte and the pair trade off Ladybug duties based on availability. Misc notes under cut

I’m working on how to distinct Marinette and Brigitte in terms of design and personality. For the moment, Marinette gets to keep her canon blue-black hair and bright blue eyes, while Brigitte’s hair is a brown-black of otherwise about the same hue and her eyes are a darker blue. Might wind up giving them both brown eyes though since they deserve it 😊

Since the extended universe of ML makes it clear that superheroes are a known quantity in canon, I figured that some of the kids would have the silhouettes of their superhero outfits in mind, although likely with different color schemes/powers in mind lol. Most notably, Marinette and Brigitte designed each other’s outfits, since they figured that if one of them became a superhero, having the other’s design sense would help obfuscate that to their associates.

Despite this, Brigitte is not generally a fashion designer. She’s still an artist, but she doesn’t set out to draw outfits like Marinette does. She also focuses more on comfort than how she looks at school most days, although she’ll dress up when she feels like it.

When not wearing the Ladybug Miraculous, Marinette or Brigitte will usually wear another pair of earrings that looks pretty similar to the Miraculous’ disguise form on them, to keep people from noticing anything fishy about their jewelry choices.

I like this outfit as a concept for the Cat Miraculous, but I don’t know if I want to keep it for this AU (or for Adrien in general, as it seems a bit more prim than his general fair). I’ll keep thinking on it.

Adrien is not a love interest for either Cheng in this AU, so his story arc (should I write it instead of just vibing about it) would be learning to see things a slightly more realistic light-- he has a tendency to view the world through anime tinted glasses and at the start it causes him to simply expect that one of the girls will eventually fall in love with him as they work together. This mindset isn’t healthy for anyone involved but he gets better

Felix Sphinx (PV!Felix) exists in this AU and is Marinette’s endgame romance because I say so. It’s my AU and I do what I want and what I want is for Felix to be a guy from one of the other classes who Marinette likes and thinks is cool. He’s a little snippy and incredibly blunt and at several points he wields the Bee Miraculous when applicable.

(Alya and Nino still exist and wield their canon Miraculouses but I didn’t feel the need to overhaul them in any way here)

Sabrina and Nathaniel are Brigitte’s endgame romances. She has two hands and a type lmao. Nathaniel’s already her friend at the start of the year (art buddies) but Sabrina probably has an arc about having an identity outside of Chloe first.

Sabrina getting the Mouse for the first time would probably be the midpoint of her arc-- she’s independant enough that she won’t go running to Chloe to spill the beans/hand over the Miraculous, but she doesn’t have the internal feeling of power to stand on her own without her. Spending some time as a hero on the occasion... doesn’t fix that on it’s own, but it helps.

Mouse keeps its canon powers but Tiger gets invisibility instead of wimpy cataclysm.

I don’t know what anyone’s hero names are yet. I’ll work on it.

And my other E/D Little Women verse, also with an accidental teenaged pregnancy, takes place in the 1860s. With much less reliable birth control methods and other...circumstances, to say the least.Yeah...my ideas are all over the place (some things are finished and settled, others are not), and mainly stuffed into one main verse. Eric's an 8th grade history teacher on the South Side of Chicago and an amateur photographer/documentary filmmaker, and Donna's a journalist (and later co editor) for the Chicago Sun-Times. And they bash their heads together and work together a lot. And Jackie, with her talk show and all, does some great PR for whatever projects they concoct.

Oh my god, yeah I went through my FF.net profile a few weeks ago and cleared out a few old, old stories. Honestly, it’s just hard for me to re-read those stories I wrote in high school without cringing. But hey, for a kid they were damn good! And I could have had worse hobbies than writing stories all of those years. I didn’t feel I was doing anyone a disservice by taking them down though, lol.

Oh yes, I have a whole folder full of story ideas that are in various states of completion. Most of them have nothing to do with That 90′s Show. I did get back into the fandom a few months ago when I saw the news of the spinoff and my little Eric & Donna lovin’ heart was so happy to see that they ended up together with a kid, and that Topher and Laura will be guest starring. That set the creative juices flowing again, I guess. So I’m actively working on a long fic that incorporates the That 90′s Show universe (what we know of it, so far) but it’s still a fanfic and I’m taking my liberties like anyone else! I just cannot stomach the purported Jackie/Kelso storyline, for example. Jackie and Hyde are so much more fun to write, so that’s what I’m writing. Naming her Leia is also throwing me for a loop... struggling hard to come up with a way that Donna would ever in a million years agree to that lmao. I am glad the original showrunners are the ones producing That 90′s Show - I wouldn’t want it any other way - but shit like this reminds me how frustrating they can be with the details. They always were.

To be honest, I have always kind of headcannoned that Eric and Donna would have an unexpected/early pregnancy. Prior to That 90′s Show being announced, I also had several story drafts sitting around where they dealt with Donna being pregnant. I talked about that a bit in an essay I write about That 90′s Show’s premise. In short, I totally agree that there would be some major bumps along the road. That’s what makes it an interesting concept to explore in fanfic! I think Eric and Donna have the foundation to weather something like an unplanned pregnancy, but hey, lots of other interpretations exist as well. I imagine that a lot of folks are going to be inspired by That 90′s Show - even if they’re not watching or not fans of the direction it’s taking. If that results in more fanfic goodness for me to read, I’m going to count it as a win!

Honestly would probably say Japan. The culture is really fascinating there, as well as the things that are from there (Nintendo and other games- most physical games are cheaper over there). I feel like that's such a generic answer though. Also, some artists release editions of CDs with tracks exclusive to Japan with bonus ones ONLY there on those editions. Sometimes never formally released as a main part of an album.

I think what comes to mind really is something that defined who I was as a person, and that is my first experience with fanfiction.

In 5th grade I had this deep hyperfixation with 2012 TMNT. ABSOLUTELY was in love with it, and lucky for me a few of my friends at the time also liked it too.

We would all talk about the show together, and I mean I even used to draw them- I was super good at it too?? Which is crazy because I'm horrible at drawing. But basically, I had this spiral green notebook and inside of it I wrote an entire story by hand- Front to back, cover to cover. I don't even remember what it was about, but I had written on the front something- the title? And the story was about TMNT. I know it involved Donnie and April, but the story doesn't stop there.

Because they all read it and was so SO into it that they told me to write more, and I did. I did write another one. That one I know was called Nightmares. Forget what it was about, but basically the green story got so infamous in my class that EVERYONE wanted to read it.

AND I MEAN EVERYONE!!

They would ask like if it was available like it was a mf library book. I was 9-10 years old. If only I could have those notebooks again, they got destroyed in my mom's basement when it flooded several years back. (But it's okay because the memory still exists.)

Anyway, I wrote fanfiction before I even knew what fanfiction was. That's it lmao. :)

Doing my belated 2023 art review. Putting it below a read more because a lot of stuff happened this year and some of it is kind of heavy.

2023 was a pretty good year for me, both personally and artistically. I had a couple of annoying minor medical issues that I'm still dealing with, but I'd say I was able to maintain my goal of drawing at least one little doodle a day for most of the year. I will say though that the vast majority of what I drew this year - probably like 95% - was personal art. Hopefully someday I'll be satisfied enough with it to post it. I'd also like to spend 2024 focusing more on painting and practicing landscapes. I spent the first three months of the year working on a piece for a local art gallery competition, which actually ended up getting accepted and subsequently spent the rest of the year touring around the state in several different exhibitions. That introduced me to the wonderful world of trying to figure out how the hell digital prints and shipping work, but everything turned out fine in the end. It remains the largest piece I've ever made at 18"x24", and hopefully once I get it shipped back to me I'll be sending it off to my parents. I also found out that I HATE writing artist's statements, like fuck off you don't need to know my background, just interpret the piece however. I'd like to post here, but I want to make sure first that it hasn't been uploaded to the internet by any of the galleries since I'd like to keep my personal info off this blog lmao What's funny is that I feel like I've come so far as an artist ever since I submitted that piece, that every time I look at the B-grade prints I have lying around I'm like "oh my god this looks terrible, I can't believe this got accepted". I guess that's just what being an artist is like Following that, I took the next month off from art, which was a nice little break. I did a bunch of art parties in FFXIV, which are always great for improving, because as counter-intuitive as it seems the best way to get good at art is to be forced to draw a whole bunch of different things under strict time limits. I feel like I can definitely see my lineart improving as the months go on. I also started working more with color, my eternal nemesis, and I'm hoping next year I can really start to nail down a style. I did Art Fight for the first time ever in July and it ROCKED, definitely going to do it again this year and I'm still pretty proud of the drawings I did. I love an event where it's socially acceptable for me to draw people's OCs. I think I'll probably focus on doing more WoW OCs this year. Unfortunately July is the busiest month for me at work, where I'm waking up at 5AM for basically the entire month straight and working in 100+ degree weather, so we'll see if I can maintain the energy for it.

And now the heavy stuff. Some of you might know that I'm pretty involved in the secret finding community in WoW, and back during BFA when we spent 11.5 months trying to find Jenafur, I did paint-overs of a bunch of cat memes to try and keep spirits up during the hunt. Unfortunately, the Make-A-Wish kid who created the pet ended up passing away in April. You can read about her life here in this article that will make you want to guillotine a chemical executive, and this older interview from 2020 about the secret. But what really got to me was this one line from the PCGames interview:

And like, I don't want to be presumptuous but like. I think she was talking about my art. Every time I posted on she'd comment on it, and she even DMed me about them. This line fucking destroyed me. I'm not even going to exaggerate. For several days after we found out about her death I was a wreck. The thought that my silly little drawings actually had an impact on someone and made their life a little brighter just ruined me. The bill she was fighting for ended up passing, and I hope that someday the idea of 'forever chemicals' will cease to exist.
