I've seen your scripts and they are SO long and SO detailed and SO cute, so...

Do you ever deal with the feeling that you are wasting your time on something worthless?? I know maybe it's dumb but I go through that when I script and it makes me feel so bad that it makes me want to give up and never hear about shifting again... but I don't want to do it, I love shifting and I love scripting.

I don't want to make you feel obligated, but if you could give me some advice or encouragement I would greatly appreciate it.

I totally get that feeling where you’re scripting and you suddenly just feel like:

“am i wasting my time on something that I won’t be able to experience?”

“Is shifting even real? Why do this if it isn’t?”

But I always get brought back to the fact that I enjoy scripting. I enjoy scripting to the point where even if shifting isn’t real, I don’t really care if I can’t use the script bc it’s just fun to make. It’s become like a hobby to me. Also like scripts are so pretty 😭 Going through a completed script is always refreshing for me idk why

Did you know that non-shifters actually have used shifting script templates too? I’ve seen it in a few comments sections on TikTok, if I find more people I’ll put them here:

Non-shifters don’t shift, do they? Why do some of them fill out script templates then? Because it’s fun!

Think of scripting as a hobby like journaling or scrapbooking, and ignore people that say “don’t script your DR like a book” because ultimately, those people are boring asf.

Ah, but let’s say you haven’t touched your script in a while, but you really want to finish it. You’ve got no motivation to. Imagine yourself with all the things you want in that DR and continue filling out that script. Though, it’s important to note that you don’t have to completely fill out a script for it to be ‘complete’!

Bottom line is, scripting is fun. I genuinely would use scripts too if I wasn’t a shifter because it’s a creative hobby. If you’re doing something that makes you happy, is it really worthless?

If you're spending your time crocheting, you aren't wasting your time crocheting. You're doing it because it's fun and it makes you happy.

Alright- i finally came around and made a lil fanart of the Wittebane brothers with the design of @angstyhikka in her clean page AU! I absolutely ADORE their and and will surely try make some other fanart as soon as I have some free time.

Now, smol disclaimer and apology, I did take this as an opportunity to experiment a bit with a new brush- the thing is, her artstyle is SO dynamic and visually interesting to look at, and it sort of inspired me a lot and made me want to try something new! I should have probably made some study and surely more practice rather than jumping right into this- but oh well, it is what it is-

Although the final result is a bit odd in some points, I do consider myself overall satisfied with the result. In particular with their faces and eyes! I think they look SO pretty, i would suggest you all to zoom on them bcs the texture really makes them- idk, it makes me feel as if they have a soul? If that makes sense?

I also made a version without lineart- i personally prefer it with my classic lineart as I feel it makes everything more cohesive and considering I am not an expert in doing sharp/soft edges to define forms, it helps a lot, but let me know what you think!

I also did struggle a bit with Caleb, I don’t think I usually draw … oldish people? Mature people? Something I definitely have to work on- ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, i think Philip looks adorable and his hair flows in a very nice way!

Here at the end I will also add a quick version I made with my usual flat colors just for comparison!

Not sure if I will continue experimenting with this particular brush, but It was very interesting and I really hope you can enjoy the result!

(Also not sure if is intentional, but I find it fascinating how their color palettes are inverted? Maybe is a me thing, but I always associate Philip with red due his childhood outfit and Caleb with blue due his jacket, so see them switched is very cute! But maybe that is just me-)

follow-up on the lyrics!

i'll begin this by saying that so many times k-pop songs lyrics are a bit non-sensical (maybe this is a particular of title tracks as i don't usually go search for the translations of b-sides from other groups unless i'm very interested in that particular song) so my bar for good k-pop lyrics is LOW low

so i'm proud of the loona girls that they managed to pull-off lyrics that actually make sense (points down for Yeojin's Moonlight on this one tho. i do think she managed to put in some beautiful imagery and sentences in there - idk how they sound in korean tho :/ - but as a all, and with a bit more of experience, maybe she'll get more cohesive! and i did like that the lyrics followed a logical line of someone reaching enlightenment and i guess self-confidence? but i did need her commentary to understand the message. i do think she has LOTS of potential, and want her to move out of the moon imagery)

as for vivi's he said i said, it was fine! cute! i can't actually giving an unbiased opinion bc i thought (and was very enthusiastic about) that it was going to be a song about gossiping? and when i wasn't i was sooo disappointed, this was totally my fault tho, but i can't look at those lyrics without thinking how nice it would be for songs to move out of the love theme for a bit

gowon's (and yves'!) truman show.... nice! a breakup song, and once again we get to see yves' lyricism. i only pity that this means we still don't have a solo-written gowon song! unfortunately i haven't been able to check out truman show (...the movie) yet so i don't really know how the lyrics connect with it.......

hyunjin's starlight! NOW we are getting to the good parts. hyunjin had already proved herself with day by day, in which she made a pretty nice use out of the structure of the song and her vocabulary and symbolism to write very good lyrics! she seems to particularly enjoy those feelings of nostalgia mixed with hope for better days. can't wait to see what she writes out of those themes, but this only cemented my trust in her lyricism. i'll add that i was very surprised when the loossemble track list came out and she had written dbd by herself, as i previously had no idea she even was interested in lyric writting and suddenly here she is with a honestly beautiful song thats a message to fans and her members....wow

getting to the end, hyeju's girl's night.... now THAT's the gem of the crown for me. not only is it a understandable and easy to get message (low bar!) but it connected to sensitive's message and to the values the loossemble girls have said again and again they want to partake in their songs.... not only that, it's catchy and SO hyeju. love the "ooh i wanna fight" in the chorus particularly. definetely she was the one who surprised me the most in a very very good way. i can't wait to see the girls growing more confident and to diversify their topics in the lyrics

There's the scarlet siren by themidnightcrimson that I think was one of the best fic I read in terms of writing? Like it depicted thalassobia (which I have :<) so well and I was so into the story it was a good 'experience' ? I litteraly had to take a break because I felt a bit bad/weird bc of thalassobia stuff (idk what kind of stuff you read but it's a pretty dark one shot, with smut and blood and definitely not for everyone)

But there's also any fic by randomshyperson !! I could never explain properly how their writing make me feel but it's just so good damn- I forced myself to read very slowly their fic to make it last longer lmao, they write really well and put a lot of effort in the coherence of their story and I liked how you could have fic about Wanda and reader but also with a real other plot behind?

HIII okay so I've only read one of your fics so far and it was a short one so I might not be the best person to answer this but I'm so glad you reblogged that post bc I actually do remember getting specific thoughts & feelings when reading one of yours!! I'm not sure if your writing is always like this but in that fic (the one I commented on!!) it felt,,, cozy. it felt warm and familiar and the writing had life to it. it wasn't just Character A walking over to Character B's house (and then room). no, there were explanations, actions, emotions, thoughts and even little bits of humour in between. and that really added to the writing!!!! the story also flowed amazingly!! it was a short fic but it didn't even feel rushed!! everything just felt natural. it was all cohesive from one paragraph to the next and I adore that!! and the descriptions were wonderful!!! painted an image in my mind very easily. one I can only describe the image as love. if the fic was an artwork, it'd have a soft grainy/noisy textured layer over it and the colour palette would be of warm pinks and oranges -- and not just bc I was getting 'sun beginning to set' vibes from it, but also bc of how soft & tender the hurt/comfort in the fic was. also, I remember opening it, reading the first 1 or 2 paragraphs and then getting so genuinely excited bc by then I could already tell you could write well LMAO -- and I was right!! you CAN write well!!! like just in general too!! idk how exactly to explain this but basically what I mean is that you're good at coming up with unique sentences and not super straight-forward plain ones!! but anyways ya!! also, sorry for writing so much!!! I've been hoarding this for like 2 weeks now and at first I had like the typical kicking my feet, twirling my hair, gotta kiss anon on the mouth (platonically duh) kinda reaction. I was ready to search all of tumblr for the epic poet in my askbox. UNTIL I GOT TO THE END!

I read the end (lol i saw the emoji) and felt magically, red string-a-lly compelled to write a simonette fic. For some strange reason.

sorry if you’ve spoken on this subject before i’m new here. but how do you feek ab the portrayal of arcane viktor in comparison to his original lore?

Hi!! I actually havent spoken about this at all but i do have a lot to say about it so i smiled when i got this ask… youre giving me a platform to infodump. there’s a lot of meat to this so i put it under a read more just to save people’s dashes, no content warnings

I really prefer his portrayal in league of legends, I’m not sure how clear it is but I think a lot of how he’s portrayed in his mainline lore is just so delicious and smart and fun. there are a lot of elements there that line up to make what i would consider a very cohesive and super fascinating character, and the only issue i really have ultimately with leagueviktor is that they dont use him!!! he has great lore (a lot of which is delivered using jayce’s lore as a vehicle) and is such a good addition to the universe that its kind of a shame hes underutilized and not thought about very much (I feel the same way about jayce as well as their relationship together but that’s a whole other essay). I had hoped for a long time that this would end up changing and that arcane would really boost his and jayce’s popularity in a way that would lead to more content for them, but that isnt going to be the case now as they’re both being fully retconned and replaced with their arcane counterparts (😞). Regardless viktor and jayce are both really special characters to me and I’ll always prefer their league selves over arcane, they’re just so fun and crazy

For what it’s worth I do like arcane viktor. I feel like he’s misinterpreted and misunderstood more often than not which can be frustrating (because I feel like I “get” a lot of his thought processes and experiences so it can be awkward to see someone else assuming the worst or more commonly just treating him like a baby), but I think he’s really cute and loved him in s1. His voice + design are great especially! My gripes with arcane wrt viktor (and by association jayce) mostly come into play when we start talking about things like retcons and character changes — while viktor’s personality remains mostly unaltered, jayce’s was changed as well as the general dynamic of their original school-era relationship (which I prefer; for those unfamiliar think of league vs arcane as like friendly rivals who bicker a lot and have ideological conflicts and are kind of implied to be gay vs friends played straight but kind of homoerotic) and I feel like while it works in the context of the show I don’t like it so much that I want the original to be retconned in favor of it if that makes sense…? I think arcane is great as an au but I don’t think it should be used as the basis for the “new” league lore by any stretch of the imagination particularly since it started out as a tv adaptation of the 2015/16 lore with things cut out for time. I like viktor being ill + disabled, I know different people have different views of that but I feel like it’s an interesting motivation for his ideology and beliefs and probably the best change they could have made for him if they had to make one. IDK I’m just rambling on here but yeah I feel like I’ve never actually talked about that here and now I have… those are my thoughts jsut off the top of my head though. trust that i could go on for much longer.

tldr i like both league viktor and arcane viktor but as a full-fledged character i prefer league viktor and also i feel like its impossible to talk about viktor without talking about jayce and vice versa since they exist in tandem with each other. Viktor arcane is cute to me as an au, i dont think he should replace canon viktor. i do feel like arcane viktor has led to a lot of misunderstandings and misinterpretations of both him and league viktor which cant be helped at this stage but probably could have been avoided somehow early on.

Ultimately they’re way more like two different characters to me or two different versions of the same person (i.e. multiverse) than anything

So I don't think it's controversial to say that Hopes is not as good as Houses. That's a given, right? it's a spin-off, there's no way it's going to match the creative vision of the original. It's basically made for fans of Houses to see their favorite characters and experience the world again, and it's great at being that.

But I think I know why Hopes doesn't hit the same for me.

Hopes is way more disconnected than Houses. It basically feels like two different games; The combat and the camp. In Houses, there doesn't feel like such a wide gap between exploring the monastery and going on a mission. There's cohesion and flow. And if we're comparing the two, the combat in Hopes is fun, sure, but less stimulating and dynamic to me personally than the turn based style in Houses. And the social aspect (idk what else to call it) is just like,, not as good as Houses. I think the writing of the supports is Not As Good, and giving gifts and stuff feels less impactful. Expeditions are a fine equivalent to tea time, but something lacks which I can't articulate. I think Hopes is meant to feel more static than Houses, which isn't a failing, just a difference.

Like, I expected to be less invested in Hopes, because it's a sequel and I'm not experiencing everything for the first time. But it's interesting to compare them anyway.

(Also, Shez is not as good a player character as Byleth imo, I prefer when player characters don't talk so much, thank you)

Lady's Night Out 2 (the sequel)

We watched Epcot's fireworks show for the first time ever and it genuinely brought me to tears. Before the show they light up all these giant torches (that I never even noticed were there) around all the countries in the circle and we were on the balcony of a building in Japan so we had a great view of all the countries. The torches were honestly the best part

There's a lot of new things this show taught me about World Showcase, one of them being that all the buildings in the countries have well-hidden light strings that they only use for a certain part of this show and it makes the whole circle look like Main Street at night for a few seconds (which as you may know is one of my favorite-looking places in all of WDW)

This fireworks show is so much more meaningful than the Magic Kingdom fireworks, which basically just shows you a bunch of Disney movies in firework and projection form. The Epcot show has a cohesive narrative about the human experience and depending on where you're standing, it'll be an absolutely breathtaking view. Most of the fireworks come from the middle of the lake but we were far enough back that we could see the parts where they launch these big bright balls of light in towards the lake from different spots around the countries. Like the torches, each country launches their own of these firework balls (idk what to call them) and we could see all of them.

The show does use Disney songs but the ones they used were deliberately picked, not overbearing, and were always used intentionally to tell the story of Epcot without acknowledging the Disney movies the songs came from.

It's a beautifully optimistic show about global unity. It feels like classic Epcot. World Showcase has a ton of leg room for people to spread out so you don't feel like you're stuck in a factory farm like you do at Magic Kingdom

As for the rest of the night, we went back to the Moana exhibit to see what it looked like at night, and I can't stress enough how surprisingly good of an addition this exhibit is to Epcot. They haven't done these kinds of educational attractions for Epcot in a while. I'm sure most people will focus on the interactive water stuff but if you take the time to stop and read the signs for once, you'll start to notice how much thought went into this instead of it being a generic Moana tie-in

"World of Nature" - as they call this region of Future World now - still has The Seas and The Land as they've always been, and Living with the Land will always be the best ride at Epcot

Putting the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster in Epcot was one of the stupidest decisions Disney made (because now people will expect thrill rides from Epcot and Epcot doesn't need roller coasters), and the new middle area of Epcot is super boring aside from the concept of it being a real living garden, but I'm feeling more optimistic about Epcot's future. Test Track is closing very soon after we leave Disney to be upgraded into Test Track 3.0 and it looks to be one of the best changes to a ride Disney has ever done. I sincerely hope it's done by the time we go back next year but my guess is that it won't be

as someone who’s a cis woman, very much a fan of analyzing movies, LOVED playing with Barbie’s growing up and is a staunch feminist, I just have to say, I did not like the Barbie movie!!!!!

There I’ve said it! It was a mess! I hated the messaging at the end. And while I’m assuming they were going for the whimsy and unpredictability of a Barbie game, I think it was poorly edited in places. I think it was very second wave feminist, and honestly sometimes pretty cringy, and not in a funny self aware way. It just felt like it didn’t know what it wanted to say, so it said everything.

Honestly, it all came across as rich, older white lady feminism.

In my mind feminism has moved past “how would men feel if women ruled the world and treated men as poorly as they’ve treated us”. Because that hypothetical does nothing productive other than try to express the pain and anger and hurt we feel. And believe me pain and anger and hurt have their place for sure! But I don’t think this was the way to express it, it will never be that way and if it had been that way then women would be in the wrong in the same way men are now. A power imbalance between sex is not quirky and cute just because it’s women. Women are not innately better than men and vice versa.

I loved that Ken was exposed to the real world and his experience was drastically different than Barbie’s, I loved how he took the patriarchy back to Barbie Land, but everything after that was a MESS. Sure I laughed and I cried at small moments, but it just did not come together in a cohesive message. I honestly was really hoping that they would talk about how the patriarchy hurts men too, that stereotypes about sex, gender and gender expression limit all of us and that we only gain true freedom by listening to each other and uplifting each others voices. Instead they basically said, if the Ken’s want rights they have to fight for them just like women did in the real world and that feels icky. I did not get what the whole speech from Barbie about being “and Ken” was even remotely trying to say but by their reactions I think it was supposed to be important ??? It just fell so flat

And the whole thing about her wanting to be human????? Why, what was the motivation? She spent a grand total of one afternoon in the real world, all of which was being berated, ogled, assaulted, arrested and told on numerous occasions about how awful it is to be a woman in the real world. And then was like, hell yeah sign me up, I just watched a very poorly edited montage of women smiling by a tree or with a baby which is very clearly what life is like all the time ? Bad, bad, so stupid !

Maybe some of the messaging just didn’t land for me , idk but I have feelings about it

I mean if jonas is out he is out. But yeah idk i have mixed feelings about it. Like last season we had so many injuries and we still pulled trough

Now we got a bunch of new players and injuries coming back and i feel like he doesn’t know how to put players together to play as a team.

Also yeah he sets the squad out but the 11 on the pitch are the ones who have to connect passes and score the goals not jonas. He isn’t playing 90min he is only trying to set a team out and hoping they do what he asks

I also feel like Leah and Kim and Katie are more then cable enough to change the game play if its not working and overrule Jonas with the experience they have

yeah true. i feel like overall, the teams approach and mentality towards games has decreased. like last season there was a certain energy and buzz in the team before and during the games. now it’s like they play half assed ykwim? they seem to wanna just leave and it sucks to watch. there’s such a lack of cohesion and people putting in effort which just translates to the game looking and being sloppy. definitely agree it’s more of the players problem than the coaches but i do think jonas could be putting better lineups out.

i also kinda think the whole team has been playing slightly selfishly, tryna get their goal, instead of a team goal, but maybe i’m tripping, idk

aaaaa rly sorry i only managed to answer this now ;-; im still figuring out how to color myself so take these tip/s i give u w a grain of salt cuz im still learning ^^

one tip i can give and this is sumth i apply mostly in my process is that less is better!!

using as little colors as possible helps in making ur entire illustration look cohesive!! it also lessens ur stress from picking out what colors to use (cuz lbr, w so many colors on the color wheel to choose from, it can get rly overwhelming ;-;)

i use around 4-5 (or add one more if i feel like it) for my base

this doesnt necessarily mean that u are only limited to use those amount of colors in ur work!! NO NO -- from those main color schemes that u've chosen, thats when u can start branching out different hues by sliding around the color wheel within the range of those main colors (idk if that made sense im sorry ;0;) FOR SHORT ANALOGOUS AKHFKJAFA

it's easier to make color choices that way especially if u dont understand color theory like i do lol

(but fr for the most part ive mostly just been finessing and experimenting the colors i use lol) WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY FINE BTW!!!!!! EXPERIMENTING IS FUN AND W DIGITAL ART THERE'S SO MUCH U CAN LITERALLY DO TO HELP U FIGURE OUT HOW TO IMPROVE UR COLORING!!!

if u have trouble figuring out what colors to use, using gradient maps and picking up palettes on pinterest is definitely a good starting point ^^

I recently finished reading What If It’s Us by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli, and I honestly still can’t make up my mind about whether or not I loved this book. It had me laughing, crying and sometimes had me kicking my feet while laying down on my bed.

(Here’s a spoiler warning because I don’t want to censor my ranting and idk what to consider a spoiler so read at your own risk)

I think I’m on the fence about it because of the way it ended (absolutely genius writing on their part but I need the closure!!). And yes, I absolutely plan on reading the second book.

The storyline itself felt kinda realistic?? I know the meet ups and the way they found each other wasn’t totally devoid of coincidence and that bit of magic, but it still felt possible. If Craigslist wasn’t a thing, wouldn’t all poster boards in coffee shops be filled with a “missed connections” section??

The characters were absolutely lovable. Arthur was a bit too much for me at times, but I still loved him. He was very charming and he always came off as very kind and sweet.

Ben. I just. I absolutely loved Ben. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit hesitant when they introduced him as a white-passing Puerto Rican because that kind of weight to a backstory can be challenging to portray, but the authors absolutely nailed it. Whenever he talked about his experiences, it was all cohesive and the struggle came through without letting it overshadow all the good things about his culture and family. It also didn’t become his only personality trait so that’s always amazing. And his parents. I loved the love between them as a family and how much they supported him.

Dylan & Samantha were so cute. Dylan absolutely deserves Ben and Ben absolutely deserves Dylan. Their bromance is amazing. Please send fan fiction my way about those two hanging out or getting Dylan ready for his wedding or something.

(Second spoiler warning because the next part is about the ending,, just in case)

The way Ben and Arthur handled their relationship also felt relatable. It put a lot of teen romantic comedies into perspective for me because how come the teens always know what to say or how to act on a first date?? Especially when they claim they’ve never done it before?? Ben and Arthur’s first date felt more real to me than anything I’ve seen/read before. Especially because of course Ben would feel more comfortable going back to something familiar and of course Arthur wouldn’t make it a big deal if he wanted to see this guy again.

Ultimately, I think it was Ben’s fear of accepting the good things from the universe and Arthur’s inexperience that made their decision feel right for themselves and I respect that. They grew a lot throughout the book, but I’m hoping that in the sequel they both see through all of that.

Overall I give it a 9/10!

I am currently waiting for the sequel to become available in the Libby app because of course they don’t have this gem in my small town library.

Best Overblot form and Best Outfit? (For the Ask Meme) Unrelated: with Obi being so close to Malleus, have you gone in depth about the gen. relationship between Sebek/Obi? I don't wanna assume but I get a sense there's a lot of teeth-grinding on Sebek's end XD

Ooof... ok this is basic as hell but Riddle's overblot is by far my favorite. IDK, it feels the most cohesive of all the overblot designs. I guess its because the artist is very familiar with that victorian lolita style of fashion.

I do have a minor gripe about hte overblot designs. For the most part this is a very small thing and pretty subjective. But I feel like they are all so stiff. Don't get me wrong, I love the camp in all of them. But the overdesign on all of them make them all look like big bad that just stands there while casting aoe magic. (Which in game isn't that off but I digress). Leona's and Azul's do a decent job at making them look very mobile. But I think this problem is the most obvious in Vil's overblot. It's just so... meh? Like I know the dress is supposed to flow, but the rendering makes it look so stiff!! Where's my regality?! The ostentatious extravagance of Vil Schoenheit? It's too similar in concept and execution to riddle!

hahaha, just a minor gripe. I still love all the fanart that people make of overlots, they are so creative and work with the canon designs in a way that the sprites in game cannot.

Best outfit: Jack's portfest outfit (portfest in general is just muah for me, I love dumb little sailor fits) There is no thought behind this, head empty.

Finally, your last question. TLDR: Obi and Sebek do not get along at all. Obi just naturally does stuff that irks Sebek (like dating his perfect Master Malleus). But Obi doesn't care much for Sebek, tbh. He finds Sebek's blind faith and unfaltering loyalty incredibly boring. To Obi, Sebek is incapable of having an independent thought outside of Malleus.

Pre-chapter 7 their interactions would mostly consist of Sebek attempting to lecture Obi who is completely ignoring him. Sebek doesn't even register to Obi, which is incredibly annoying for Sebek.

During chapter 7, i hope these two get a chance to better understand each other and grow.

Future: I headcannon that like many years in the future, both Sebek and Obi have matured quite a bit. And these two are actually quite close. These two are like the bitchiest to each other, but they do it with love (I can't help but imagine that Sebek gets assigned to guard Obi and it becomes a buddy cop movie). Sebek is also someone who Mallerose (Obi and Malleus' daughter) looks up to. His experience and journey equip him with the ability to empathize with the struggles the young princess is going through. And he is capable of providing wisdom and support that maybe Obi and Malleus cannot do. Obi is incredibly grateful for Sebek's help.
