hello! do you have any tips for drawing in paint?

I ended up making a little tutorial so. .

My MSpaint workflow!

(not applicable to everyone each person has their own way to use each program)

Start with a sketch!

Do lineart over sketch, and make sure its in a DIFFERENT COLOR!

From here you can isolate the lineart by just erasing the lineart color! (and ctrl + makes the tool your using bigger)

Now we have just the lineart!

From here I color, just using the paint bucket tool and drawing the markings on

Adding the shading, I choose the colors I chose, then use the edit colors tool to make them darker and a slightly different tint.

Now for the painting process, I use this to mix my colors together. Basically find two colors, paint a line inbetween them using this paint brush tool and one of the colors, then select the inbetween color. This is mostly the same as how I paint in other programs.

COLOR TANGENT!! When digitally paintings it is sometimes better to just choose a color that would be inbetween, ESPECIALLY with yellow and blue. Its kinda complicated but how the computer does its calculations it can grey out your colors.

But I basically do the painting mixing and coloring all around the piece, choosing inbetweens everywhere, and smoothing out the shading lines, I tend to go over my lineart here

And Im done!

Just adding a lot of details + I tend to do the bg last

My style depends on which piece im working on, sometimes I use the paint brush for all of the piece so its a lot smoother

This was done with the paint brush in MS Paint (the one I used in the mixing section) but it is still the same process, I would just use the paint brush instead of the pencil

but this one was done entirely with the pencil tool, so its up to you which style your going for

Hope that was helpful, and at least taught some fun ms paint tricks heh. Its really fun to work with because it forces you to work on one layer

and just in general.. leave people comments. leave them asks about their projects. just go over and gush about their work. i know it sounds embarrassing but writers love nothing more than to hear that someone likes what they are doing. if you find a fic that hasnt been updated in forever, comment on it. it might just be the spark the author needs to continue. while kudos and likes are nice, and just as valuable to some, its definitely in the words the people leave for them that matter the most. im not saying this to put pressure on anyone, its just how it is, and i feel like unless people are writers themselves, and even then sometimes, thats just hard to grasp, especially if the writer is a smaller and less popular one who doesnt get a lot of traffic in the first place

i think thats all. just be nice and considered to everyone, reblog peoples works, this post with others add ons and so forth. and if i find anyone talking shit here or at other writers for something they share, you'll be blocked and im probably taking your kneecaps. be fucking nice. we are all struggling here and we need to stick together

Forgive me if I'm a bit nervous about Gorgug this season. It's just that the last Zac Oyama pc was Colin Provolone, who was arguably one of his greatest D20 performances, if not the greatest.

Zac always does great with every pc he plays, but Colin was something else. He came out swinging with actions and words that were teeming with unspoken emotional baggage. The way Colin's presence affected the other pcs; there was this level of depth that I don't think I've seen in any of his other characters. It was understated and quiet in that signature "just a guy" way that he tends to be, while still captivating everyone instantly with just how raw it was.

Not to say we haven't seen emotional depth in Gorgug. It's just that, compared to the other Bad Kids, Gorgug's journey and progression as a character has been very... impersonal? Like, yes, he found his birth parents, and he found friends who appreciate him, and he faced his insecurities about his intelligence, and he navigated relationship troubles, and his trial through the claustrophobic bug-tunnels was a horrifically-uncanny parallel to how he's spent his entire life trying to make himself as small as possible.

But how much of that has actually changed him from the Gorgug we started with? I would agree that he's definitely happier with his life, given all the loving and supportive people that have been added to it when it used to be just him and his parents. And he's certainly grown into himself and become more self-assured in his abilities, even if he's still, and always will be, our anxious little guy. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've always liked how Gorgug was a representation of all the little things. The subtle acts and kindnesses that don't seem like much to most, but to some are everything.

We don't need another Bad Kid living in fear that their mouth could be shit-in at any moment. We've already got one-too-many.

All that being said, I just feel like Gorgug's personal story beats are much easier to sweep under the rug than everyone else's. He has the same soft and understated quality that Colin held, but they lack that extra oomph that pushed Colin over the edge from being just another guy in a series of dudes, to a character that the vast majority of us could not get out of our heads. He took someone who was anxious and softspoken, who ultimately never wanted to be violent— someone who is remarkably similar to Gorgug in many ways— and maintained that demeanor and core in Colin's character while still hitting us in the feels with character development at max velocity at every turn.

I think Zac gets better and better at this with every season that goes by. With each new character, there is always something that leaves me stunned in awe. And it's been, what, three? Four years since we last saw Gorgug?

I'm just,,, I'm cautiously optimistic but also going into a bit of a worry about what violence this man may inflict upon us

it's been a while since someone has asked me to talk about cockles, so i am rusty but let's see how it goes..... lmao

first of all, i will say that over the years my thoughts and theories about whatever is going on between them have changed so much. honestly my answers to what i think happened during break up era will probably change depending on the day.

for example, where i used to be sure that there must have been something solid going on between them even in those early years, ever since the poem men in woods i have changed my mind about that. to me, that poem screams jensen, and if jensen was indeed misha's new friend who tried to kiss him, i am more prone to assume that maybe the lines between very very close friends and something more were blurred at the time, but never really defined in the first few years before the 'break up era'.

i think we can all safely say we clocked something real there, real attraction, a real connection, but other than that who knows how they both saw their relationship or how sure they were of whatever was happening between them?

i do have some broad/vague thoughts (like i said, these could change any moment and is based purely on what we know and what we don't know aka fill in the blanks) on what might have been going on. i think it's possible that they both felt an attraction to each other, that jensen knew that misha was poly witch vicki and that jensen and misha either did actually explore that attraction or that jensen at the very least let misha know (by kissing him and god knows how else) that he was into him. and then, unfortunately, cas got killed off and suddenly they no longer had a valid excuse to keep blurring those lines.

because of everything that has been documented about that point in time, i have a strong feeling that jensen said or did something to fuck things up between them and upset misha and probably had immediate regrets but misha wasn't taking any shit and took his time to process everything and only when it was clear he would be back, did they hash things out.

they were clearly very very close, i mean they exchanged jewelry, this isn't something most men do with a coworker, so whatever was said or done was obviously hurtful cause even if they never explored each others bodies i have no doubt that misha valued (and still values) jensen a lot and that he considers him one of his closest friends, probably even back then. and the fact that misha was so very messy on stage, getting drunk etc, and jensen clearly tried to 'win him back' only strengthens the theory that they didn't even know what they were doing themselves back then, cause otherwise they would have been way less messy and loud imo.

wanted to share the sentiment here too but didn't feel like rewriting the whole thing lmao so here are some Thoughts i had last night on twt regarding my weird relationship with my art whilst being in fandom:

i know i've definitely talked about this kind of thing in the past but it's been a very recent development that i actually understand what's been going on with me and why i've picked up this habit of letting a fandom i'm in / a piece of media i'm really into fully dictate my creative drive. like, just because i'm very interested or invested in something, it doesn't mean i necessarily feel inspired by it or inspired by it for the duration that it holds my interest, and forcing myself to create relative art or fic or what have you for the vested interest(s) has both dampened my desire to be creative as well as my imagination. i know a lot of people can be super into something or a few random things at once and that can keep them going for ages without them running out of ideas, but in my case, things that hold my interest aren't always synonymous with my creativity and i'm just now learning that despite how obvious it seems!

i also imagine i'm not the only person who functions like this but i personally haven't seen it spoken about very often (if it even needs to idk), so i wanted to bring it up / talk about it a little bit :)

So how DID you learn how to draw grass and leaves? I am curious!

For the grass, I couldn’t find any really good references/tutorials that fit the vision I had, so I don’t think I used many references(though my memory sucks, and I may have looked at other artist’s work for help!) I did know the sort of texture that I wanted and played around with brushes until I found a good one :]

I used watercolor and airbrush tools to texture the grass, and then added extra blades on top, as well as the flowers! So all of that is really just one to two brushes on a low opacity!(over the greens I already had down)

As for the leaves, just looked up some stuff on google lol!!

I used my first attempt so I still don’t know how to draw them well,,but looking at a few images helped me figure out where to put the shadows somewhat!

Noticed that shading the leaves at the bottom like I wanted to didn’t make it look as “realistic” as I wanted, but rather chunks of leaves would stand out and those under would be much darker, and that would be scattered around the tree(if that makes sense?)

Originally I was just going to shade the leaves at the bottom with the darkest colors, but found the large bright area to look weird? Looking at a few pictures helped realize that leaves typically have shadows scattered around, even in the brightest areas(it helps them pop more so I guess that makes sense lol)

Phew! Hope that helps :] I’m still not the best at drawing either of those things, so I do recommend possibly doing studies or using references to help!!<3

been looking in tags for a few days now to see if anyone else found the whole high cloud quintet and related story to be a bit.....poorly written, nonsensical, contradictory, full of plot holes and loose ends, etc. apparently i'm not the only one. (and i'm not even talking about shipping stuff, because any time I saw someone mad about bad writing, someone always replies to be homophobic and laugh about failed ships. weirdos.) it could have been so good but was thrown into the garbage for the most part (IF you noticed all the plot holes and contradiction. if not, then it's a fine enough story tbh. I expect most people to see it on surface level and not read all the little hidden lore bits and try to piece it together like my autistic brain did. which is ok! enjoy it if you liked it and ignore me 😆)

Since Suchebh shifts forms every day and night, does one need to be attracted to both forms in order to pursue them? Or is the MC generally just assumed bi/pan? Also how do you pronounce their name? My brain keeps defaulting to Suckbeth, in a weird portmanteau of suck and Macbeth, which I think is probably wrong lol

i've been having a bit of trouble in regards to answering this for a while, mostly because some of it is something that i really can't answer For anybody. parts of it are easier though at least lol

there's a pronunciation guide here - i do think Suchebh would be amused by your particular idea of it even though it wouldn't make sense in-universe given that you're Hearing their name instead of seeing it written haha

secondly, the mc is never assumed to have any particular sexuality (as i think most mcs in most IFs aren't? that could be me not knowing about some where you're explicitly one thing or another though, i just haven't personally encountered a game like that i don't think). like it won't be Expected for any mc to have attraction for any RO, as that's (rightly, in my opinion) up to the player to decide 🤷

as for the part about whether one needs to be attracted to both of Suchebh's forms, i guess this one is mostly up to the player also? like if you suspend disbelief for a moment and pretend that there really was a person whose physical form changed every 12 hours in real life. would you feel comfortable being in a relationship with them if during half of the time you spent together you weren't attracted to them, if the transformation affects your level of attraction? the answer won't necessarily be no for everybody, but by the same token it won't be yes for everybody either.

if you're asking how They would feel about an mc who is explicitly not interested in them 50% of the time, i don't think it would have much of an effect on a casual sex level of relationship, but they wouldn't be keen on a more committed relationship under those circumstances... so i guess it depends on what you mean by "pursue."

I’ve been thinking about how if you compress quartz you get electrical current and thinking about its inverse - how if you give a quartz an electric current it compresses - and because y’all know me, it made me think about petrosapiens.

But with lingering thoughts from a previous post of mine, I have combined these thoughts with another, older and collaborative idea of the past-

Let’s get started.

Alright, when you have aliens sci-fi sometimes you get off the wall creations that thanks to the whole ‘fiction’ side of the science, probably aren’t possible as is explained? From aliens made entirely out of sound insulated with silicone to walking talking fire pits from the sun, Ben 10 is by far taking science by its reigns and going full speed into that fantasy and petrosapiens - the example of the ‘material based aliens’ you see in lots of media - is well within that cool factor you can’t fully logic.

Well, since it’s been stated a few times, petrosapiens (and the similarly crystalline crystalsapiens) are silicon - no e - based beings, and guess the fuck what my dear readers? Silicon-based crystals happen to include the beloved electric conducting quartz that this following headcanon is reliant on.

What if a petrosapien’s crystal structure down to its very molecular construction acts not only as their nervous system, but also as the root of their crystallokinesis?

Silicon itself does not provide its own current of course, but what is a nervous system without organs and most significantly of all, the CENTRAL nervous system; the brain - of course - alongside the spinal cord (read: not the spine that protects it). Simply put just like our own nervous system the central nervous system and the (conversely) peripheral nervous system communicate back and forth with one another using electrical currents.

Unlike our own human nervous system, the petrosapien nervous system is either mostly or near entirely electrical signals rather than electrochemical messages along neurons. Instead, through at least the crystal part of their bodies (which comprise most of their body and in fact translates more into extremely thick skin rather than natural armour) conveys sensory and neural responses and activities - either autonomic or somatic - along the crystalline structures like natural geometric circuitry.

Most of the nervous system in the crystal of a petrosapien is somatic, many of the autonomic nervous system being the soft squishy bits inside sitting like the centre of a fruit gusher, but it’s not without its own autonomic systems even if they are more towards the core. These autonomic functions are of course the organs responsible for recycling and reusing the digested minerals (a responsibility of the stomach) to act as materials for new crystal growth.

And with new crystal growth, along comes with it the inherent (but trained) crystallokinesis of petrosapiens. Though so long as a petrosapien eats their daily crystals they are engaging with crystallokinesis post digestion, the external act of crystal manipulation is in a sense literally letting your nervous system interact with other quartz-like or silicon-based crystals in order to jumpstart the manipulation of its structure as an extension of yourself.

Because having a network of circuits means that petrosapiens can literally feel more things than you expect of them, being able to detect sensory information beyond the simple presumed sensation of pressure, crystallokinesis of far more ancient literal planet made crystal is a process young petrosapiens need to practice, adapt, and get used to. It’s less about feeling pain and more about feeling more of yourself exposed to the air, to the water, to the ground beneath your feet and the ceiling above your head. To manipulate the crystals of Petropia you must become a part of Petropia.

Rather a religious experience wouldn’t you think?

Now what happens when a certain specific cult arrives in search of (literal) power?

That’s right baby welcome to classic reboot crossover time where I introduce a fundamental player into the headcanon history of my version of Petropia, the very reason that petrosapiens were introduced suddenly into the galactic sphere and how because of the materials of Petropia and the interference of extraterrestrials, the rapid rise of interplanetary level tech grew to the point where a certain criminal found himself staring at the shattered remains of his own home planet!

Say hello to the fulmini and the High Override himself, cult leader of the Global Mind and a literal representation of a nervous system, who’s invasion of Petropia was under the assumption of it being a barren uninhabited planet full of electrical current sustaining crystal for use in energy sources.

Check out this post by @sxilor-1010 and me for a more in-depth discussion on both the biology and more relevantly sociology of the fulmini and the High Override’s cult (which in today’s post I just made a name for that may or may not stick) so check that out-!

For the longest time I marked this period as The Surface Craze, the benefits of the English terminology being that it has multiple means beyond the direct Petropian translation of ‘the day the sky broke open’. As the many petrosapien people were introduced for the first time in thousands of years, spanning multiple generations perhaps equivalent to old English to modern (as it is today) English, the sky was crazed (rock term for scraped), the people were going crazy, and the upper rungs (aka the poor and the slums that couldn’t afford the protection of the holy core) sought this new horizon and caused a drastic shift in the political and societal landscape. All the while the energy hungry Override, with his energy desperate limbs of conquered colonies, studied and contemplated the usefulness of disciples (and batteries) of this new species.

Another meaning of craze was introduced to petrosapiens when the High Override grew interest in the regenerative abilities of petrosapiens, his arms and legs reaching out and spreading across the newly cracked open planet, singing his own praises as their one and only truth through the teeth and mouths of his subjects. Though many of the religiously scorned people of the shallows were far too burnt to be swayed, those that clung to religion in hope saw that these strangers were far more accomodating than the leaders of their own faith, the Override perhaps not able to fully take control of them as he could as those that serve as his fingers, but he did not come this far without his own manipulative ways.

A proposition was made, that these beings of crystalline stone can offer their patronage by contributing to the flow of energy, to welcome their arms into the embrace of the High Override and provide a tithe to his service. Their arms, which compress with the electricity of their central nervous system, that can be compressed and crushed and chewed up by the machines that the Global Mind and the High Override’s many fulmini limbs are hungry for, are desperate for, are past the point of begging for.

And those with the faith and the belief and the desperation, they take up arms and feed the machine.

Funny, it seems, that the High Override’s act has created one of the largest surviving community of petrosapiens yet.
