Canon Destiel Timeline Masterpost

I wrote this all in a fugue state while listening to Green Grow the Lilacs on repeat so forgive any mistakes. @gay-fae ask and ye shall receive

So much has happened in the long and storied history of his fandom so I've decided to try to document it. I've started by looking up every time that canon destiel, destiel event, misha collins, jackles, or some other search terms have spiked on Google and cross referenced them with tumblr or twitter posts from that day. I know a lot of this is Misha stuff, but he does tend to be the one to say things

November 5th, 2020: Season 15, Episode 18 "Despair" airs and Castiel declares his love to Dean. The presidential election, Georgia turning blue, the presumed retirement of Vladamir Putin, Dabi from My Hero Academia, Ouran Host Club season 2, Sherlock season 5, the president of Bolivia being attacked with dynamite, ongoing BLM protests, a twitter artist making racist art of Ted Bundy, Hetalia returning, a dead man being elected Representative for North Dakota, V for Vendetta, scientists discovering a "hell" planet that rains rocks and has lava oceans, and half of Europe being in lockdown all became tumblr news around the same time. Some of these are true, some not.

November 8th, 2020: Misha Collins, in a panel with Richard Speight, states that the confession scene was a "declaration of homosexual love", and that when Castiel goes to the Empty, it is an example of the "Kill your gays" trope.

November 19th, 2020: The finale airs and it is not well loved to say the least. The episode is short, Dean dies by falling on a nail to death fighting vampire clowns, and there are several characters left with dangling unresolved plot threads and arcs, including Castiel. The car is in heaven though. There is very little heard from the cast and crew, if anything.

November 22nd, 2020: Misha Collins, in a livestream, tells a fan that Castiel and Jack are remaking heaven together, Cas has his wings back, and they are rainbow-colored. He had, however, mentioned the rainbow wings before.

November 24th, 2020: The Spanish dub of the confession is released and a "rogue" translator has written "Y yo a ti" or "I love you too" as Dean's response. Destiel goes canon in Spanish. Tumblr stops working as a result.

November 25th, 2020: tumblr user @thebloggerbloggerfun claims Jensen Ackles said "I had a member of the film crew record the confession scene on my phone for me" #unsourced #releasethetapes

November 26th, 2020: Misha doesn't appreciate the rogue translator, but walks that opinion back later the same day

November 27th, 2020: A "leaked" Italian dub of the confession scene shows a mutual confession.

November 28th, 2020: President Obama follows a destiel account on Twitter

November 30th, 2020: The supposed "Italian dub" is revealed as a fake created by user @iotiamo using sound clips from other parts of the Italian dub on show.

December 1st, 2020: Twitter user @mothdean says "misha I know you have a stan acc and spy on us so can we have a hazel update please"

December 3rd, 2020: Misha tweets about Hazel snoring and this is taken as possible confirmation of Misha's secret stan account

December 11th, 2020: A script from Cas's perspective leaks. It says "We see Cass's POV of Dean again - his face drawn, drained of hope. But still beautiful. Still Dean Winchester."

December 16th, 2020: Newsweek runs an article about an article that Misha wrote about the Lewinsky affair while interning in the Clinton White House in which Misha comes off as rather thirsty for Bill

December 20th, 2020: All Supernatural related materials disappear off the CW's website due to a copyright dispute with Warner Brothers

December 31st, 2020: Mishapocalypse redux

February 9th, 2021: Spn cast members Chad Lindberg and Samantha Ferris tweet about a party at the Roadhouse and it grows to become a full Destiel wedding

February 16th, 2021: @steveyockey made a fairly benign post about Jensen Ackles. The notes went wild in a variety of ways and started a rumor that Spn writer Steve Yockey was dead

February 20th, 2021: Steve Yockey is not dead and he should say it

March 3rd, 2021: The German dub drops and it is also romantic in tone

March 6-8th, 2021: A virtual con happens where Jensen discusses Chaos Machine and Jared says he wants to be in their next project. They also show that WAP video. Jensen is giving full mountain man preparing to play Soldier Boy.

March 10th, 2021: The French dub is released. Cas says, "I love you, Dean" and Dean now responds, "Don't do this to me, Castiel"

March 13th, 2021: The company Amazon tweets about Castiel and Misha Collins asks if they ship Deancas or Wincest. Subsequently apologizes.

March 16th, 2021: Misha says he can't speak as Castiel because Warner Brothers" specifically forbade it. #cwsniperconfirmed

March 17th, 2021: Sam and Eileen are getting married! I have no idea how this came about but I'm happy for them

March 23rd, 2021: Chad Lindberg and Samantha Ferris claim on Twitter that the Roadhouse party was about Valentine's day and not a wedding. Ferris specifically said that she worked on the show and that people tried to make Dean/Cas into "something that it wasn't", She also stated she doesn't "know what queerbaiting is" and that it was due to an "agenda". This led to #deanisbi trending on Twitter and Tumblr.

March 31st, 2021: Some possibly fake leaked scripts come up for sale on eBay. Also, Jensen is Batman.

April 1st, 2021: Mishapocalypse redux

April 6th, 2021: Leaked scripts from the 2 final episodes pop up and have several mentions of Cas in them that were omitted. Dean even thinks about Cas's confession when confronting Chuck.

April 18th, 2021: Scripts from seasons 12 and 13 leak. These include scenes from after Cas's death

May 17th, 2021: Jensen's band Radio Company releases an album including the song Watching Over Me

June ~5th, 2021: Misha says at a convention that Watching Over Me is about Castiel. Jensen neither confirms nor denies this when asked about it

June 11th, 2021: It is announced that Misha is publishing a book of poetry

June 18th, 2021: The Russian dub airs and Dean's line is changed to "Don't you dare, Cas"

June 24-28th, 2021: Jensen and Daneel Ackles reveal that they are making a Supernatural prequel series following John and Mary Winchester (a story that NOBODY was asking for). Jensen will reprise his role as Dean and will narrate. Misha hints that he would like to be involved, as do Ruthie Connell, Samantha Ferris, Matt Cohen, and Julie McNiven (the perils of having a cast of mostly immortal characters). But Jared Padalecki first says that he is happy for the Ackles's, he later said he was "gutted", then responded to Robbie Thompson's tweet calling him a "coward" and saying "what an awful thing you've done". The next day, Jensen and Jared both do damage control and say they'll always be brothers

July 17th, 2021: People are asking if Destiel will be canon in Space Jam, Misha's poetry book's cover is revealed to lukewarm reviews and people are talking about a particular poem about piss, and Perfume Genius releases an article that is a self-insert vore fanfiction about having sex with Jensen Ackles

August 2nd, 2021: Perfume Genius is at it again with "Last Friday, I had my eyes removed by Jared Padalecki". No, I do not know why she is doing this.

August 9th, 2021: Destiel fics hit 100k on Ao3. Misha tweets his support and people remember that he sometimes reads fanfiction and theorize he has an A03 account

September 1st, 2021: Misha makes his first Tiktok. There is a short intro before he calls cut, walks behind a screen, and strips his clothes off

September 3rd, 2021: Jake Abel uses Michael and Adam to help sell his hot sauce brand

September 4th, 2021: Misha confirms that the love between Castiel and Dean was "reciprocated"

September 9th, 2021: A clip of the real Italian dub of the confession scene goes viral as it is revealed that, unlike the Spanish dub, they change the line to "ti voglio bene" or essentially "I love you like family". When Dean said that to me, he meant the creators do not have full control of the perception the world has on their characters. He didn't mean it in a sort of declaration of love, as many of you assume, but as in 'God is not in control of us, not tonight'. I know his wording isn't always the most precise, but I've learned if you look past his phrases and toward his intentions, that's where you find his true meaning.

So I was in the Jonsa tag because I'm slowly getting back onto my Jonsa bullshit and this popped up as one of the latest posts:

And then I see the ever-so smart tags of someone else when reblogging said post:

To be fair, this op and reblogger didn't tag this post as Jonsa and obviously Tumblr is at it again with their algorithm but I found the content of said post and the assertion that Jonsas are "idiots" and "delusional" to be utterly fascinating.

For one, when the show was airing its final season, I never ever saw any Jonsas claim that it was Emilia's fault that Jonsa didn't get an HEA together at the end. Not in the circles I traveled. That's a ludicrous claim. Emilia had no investment on what Jon's or Sansa's endings would be, together or not.

What Emilia did change however that many have been (correctly) critical of was the dialogue in the throne room scene before Jon 🗡️ Dany. Rather than let everyone see exactly who Dany was, who she had become, she asked D&D to add in the lines of the whole "I couldn't count to twenty" bit. She admitted as much in an interview, stating that she wanted fans to remember who Dany was in the beginning of the show, and D&D obliged. That's a major problem, whether you're a fan of Dany or not, especially if you're a fan. That negated Dany's dark turn completely and her entire arc as a character. It negated why she chose to take such actions and the true ending that she deserved. While I respect Emilia as an actress and as a human being, she was wrong to ask D&D to do that. She's not a writer and/or showrunner. She should never have had that part added in because season 1 and season 2 Dany even was not who season 8 Dany was (or even season 7 or season 6 or season 5). That is the only thing I've seen Jonsas (and other sections of the fandom) be rightly critical of.

The "delusions" and "idiocy" I see coming from some of the Dany stans, though, is truly confounding to the rest of us. "Dany was never supposed to go dark!" "It was bad writing!" "Even Emilia knows!" "That's not how it goes in the books!"

Dany was always supposed to go dark. That's the entire point of her story. Go back and watch the show again. It's always been there. They have always framed her actions as just when really they were anything but. They've always shown the darkness waiting inside her to be unleashed. She was always going to be the final boss in the end.

While the last season was not most people's favorites and things were rushed & mistakes were made, Dany going dark in general is not bad writing. It's actually good writing because it closes up what they've been setting up for her since season 1 (mind you GRRM was involved in writing episodes of the show from seasons 1-4 so even if his books end differently, that part of Dany's darkness is still in there, just saying).

Emilia has self-admittedly blurred the line between herself and her character for some time now. And it's understandable. She played the character for 10 years (another example of an actor I can think of sharing this sort of blurring approach is Jensen Ackles with Dean Winchester after 15 years of him playing that character) and she underwent some intense and dangerous health issues during that time that thankfully she survived and was able to heal from. She has talked about drawing strength from the character during these times and she naturally is protective of the character for all of those reasons. But even she has stated that now when she looks back, she sees where the show was leading Dany all alone. She may have her own thoughts on why the dark turn happened when it did but again, she is not a writer, producer, or director. She also defers to the work D&D did despite being honest about her emotional reactions to Dany's ending when she first read it and afterwards.

"That's now how it goes in the books!" This is probably the most common argument point many Dany stans make that just causes me to repeatedly roll my eyes. This is the show, not the books. Two different universes essentially. Did you not realize the show was adapted from the books? Do you know what adapted means? Do you know that adaptations happen because a story is being transferred from one medium to another? Did the Twilight, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games films all follow the books to the last letter? No. Why? Because they were adapted from a written medium to a visual medium. This has been happening since your parents were toddlers. And did you not notice how there was no Lady Stoneheart or Val or Dacey Mormont or Harry Hardyng or Young Griff? Did you notice how it was Sansa that married Ramsay and not Jeyne? At what point were you going to realize that the show was going to go its own route? Should they have changed the names to Jansa Jark, Son Show, and Myra Jark in order to get your attention? Nanerys Margaryen perhaps? Jyrion Nannister? Black Beetle? Come on now 🤡

I will never understand why people refuse to see what's right in front of them, even when their fave is saying it. And yet they call Jonsas delusional. Okay, then.

I got excited enough about amnesia that, like an idiot, I tried to use the native tumblr search for something, and so obviously nothing remotely to do with amnesia came up and so we're left with:

Love the amnesia trope! I mean -- in theory, lol. Every trope can be good if it's written well and absolute trash if it's written in a trash way. Some tropes have more wiggle room than others, though, and amnesia in particular has a wiiiiide range from 'can be AWESOME' to 'ugh, god. why.' Admittedly, a lot of depictions of amnesia fall closer to the trash-why end, haha (then again, pretty much everything falls closer to the trash-why end, so no need to single it out too hard on that), in particular because of the way it tends to be used for silly melodrama and soaps. But you know what, spn's pretty much a melodrama and I think at this point if you can't accept that you've got a lot more work to do than just getting through a silly amnesia fic, so -- hell yeah, melodramatic tropes in melodramatic fic for our melodramatic canon, let's gooooo --

With that said.

I really really really VASTLY prefer single-amnesia to double-amnesia. Double-amnesia has the fun dramatic irony going on where the reader knows what's up and, oh ho, won't it be So Fun when they realize what they have done! And like, fine. It can be. But I'm immensely more interested in the single-amnesia variety, where Character A is cored out or wiped blank or made into some new entitity -- like a Regarding Dean situation where the memories are gone and just the personality remains -- or jamais vu, true newborn with only nature and no nurture -- or like I have written... twice or three times, lol, when some specific but very key information is lost -- and then Character B has to deal with the beloved shell left behind. Whether it's from the amnesiac's POV or from the carer's, you're left with this intensely fraught interpersonal situation where one person doesn't know what's wrong, or at least to what extent something's wrong, and the other person's caught in this maelstrom of alarm/worry/but also, maybe, a strange and cautious and terrible relief. Because -- wouldn't it be better, if they didn't remember trauma x or y? Wouldn't they be safer? This tends to go toward first time, which layers on an extra layer of guilt for the carer, but (being me) I actually prefer it as established relationship where the carer's not sure if it's morally right to make that reconnection -- because, after all, it was the person who was that they loved, and the person who's here now... are they the same?

Amnesia fic sits in this wonderful moral grey area, sharing a place with e.g. gender or body swap, de-aging, alternate universe selves, etc, and the grey area is embodied in a single question: what's owed to the person who's no longer here? Swiftly followed by a darker question: what's owed to the person standing in front of you, not sure why you want that other version back so badly? This was essentially the soulless!Sam plot -- he's right here and Dean wants to murder him to get back some soppy sweet version who might as well be dead. In a fic like 'What Remains,' which deservedly is one of the top recs for the trope, Sam's left with this so-much-happier Dean who, sure, was lost, but has a decent life, and is it even remotely okay for Sam to shove him back into memories of hell and pain just so that, when he smiles at Sam in the morning, it's the smile Sam actually remembers?

The only interesting lesson of Lebanon is, of course, that yes: whether it's right or not, they want their brother back -- not a facsimile or a happy shell or anything else. No matter how much it hurts, either coming or going. And we all knew that was true before Lebanon but I didn't mind it being underlined, and in every (good) amnesia fic I look forward to it being underlined again: there is no Sam or Dean Winchester that counts, except for the one that grew up entwined with his brother. Accept no substitutes. :)

Hell, it's been like this since the 80s, when Reagan spouted that nonsense about "welfare queens" and lied about how AIDs is spread. Heck, I remember reading Christian science claiming condoms don't prevent the spread of HIV and knew it was a lie--and that was in the 90s!

Even nowadays, some persist, such as the stories about wolf packs (which had been debunked by the very person who suggested how they form, but try telling that to the Alpha bros).

Because a lot of what I've shared and said did come from the source! Jensen was told of Danneel being pregnant via email instead of over the phone! Jensen was told of Danneel being pregnant with the twins via a card from JJ instead of directly from her! Danneel is emotionally abusing Jensen--as evident by all the mean stuff she's said over the years, be it from Instagram posts shaming his weight to her posting a humiliating picture of him on the toilet. There are screenshots of her bullying and fighting fans on Twitter. Pictures of her writing "He's mine, bitches" on fan pictures. A lot of what has been said and shared come from them!

They're not "dear friends". They're Tumblr pages that I talk to. There's an extreme difference there. I know not all of them like Jensen and they know this--they know I'm a fan and if they say something about him I disagree with, I just shrug and go about my business. I'm not a rabid fan who'll attack and argue. The thing is though, he has done and said some problematic stuff that make me cringe as a human being.

Ahem.

Jensen really doesn't say much about how much he loves her. Too often it's silly stuff that we know isn't true--she doesn't have business acumen. The Winchesters was done badly, the press about it was awful (like Danneel trying to say Dean knew all about hunting from his mom, but he was 4 years old when she died and the mom had retired from hunting for years by that point), and there were a lot of problems on the set (including one of the crew being hit by lightning and now suing Jensen, Danneel, CW and WB over it). Instead of acknowledging it, they're mum.

Jensen called Danneel a shark. In business terms, that's a bad thing. He calls her Scary Spice. (What?!) He claims he buys her expensive gifts all the time to impress her--that's an awful way to go about impressing your partner.

I could go on.

The thing is... no. I don't think they're in love. She's possessive, mean, and has done a lot of questionable things. Jensen rarely looks like he's happy to be with her and frequently travels away because that's the only way he can handle it. Not to mention their excessive drinking. That too isn't healthy.

What/who is 2po and what is M&G? I see them in your posts a lot and I can't come up with the definition for the life of me 💜

2po: Fandom misinformation troll. Uses the name TeamFreeWill2pointO (tumblr)/TFW2pointo(twitter) to lure in unsuspecting fans while putting on an I Ship Destiel badge, but his wall is nothing but Jared praise, shitting down on Destiel, saying it has to stay in subtext, and blaming hellers for everything, but he feigns being In The Know (ITK) by trading fan whispers, and tries to joust his rumors against my production leaks.

his sources are antis that just got busted for screaming physical threats for hellers hellering in unapproved spaces at a con, eg, asking questions in the Cockles M&G. hence all the bird imagery. i have little birdies waiting for them to stunt like this, and it's expanding in scale monumentally now. 2po, gayle and suzanne's fuckup just birthed into a new movement that's going to make cons hell for all of them

M&G: Meet and Greet: High cost VIP events at conventions that are sealed behind NDAs (nondisclosure agreements, say shit, get sued). 2po peddled these as whispers and lied about the contents for years to charge up wincest shippers and antis while shitting down on heller hopes and spreading his nonsense in the Profound Bond server. It's all word manipulation and deletion.

My server identified his sources and put eyes on them waiting for them to mess up, because the NDA prevented anyone from actually correcting him, and they did. So while he tried his normal thing of lying through it online and deleting shit, I pulled the trigger on the actual contents, which he accidentally verified as real after denying it, by threatening to report it for an NDA infraction. Cuz you can't report it if it wasn't true. But he talked himself into the dirt.

Then realized it was his own sources that fucked up and said it on main, so he couldn't even retaliate, which is exactly the kind of fuckup we were waiting for.

He's a career liar and grifter that projects those accusations at everyone else, and exists wholly to dishearten hellers and give wincest shippers and antis an illusionary bubble of dialogue where they're still the ones being pandered to.

If you want an idea I leaked the pilot for Winchesters february and knew for more reasons than I can ever explain it was real while he squealed like a stuck pig it was fake. I told them all it was about Dean learning from his parents life to find his peace, including the complexities of their life, loss, love, machinations of chuck, issues he has to unpack, letting go and moving on, learning from them and ultimately collecting it into getting to say what he wasn't allowed in the OG property.

For obvious reasons they also wailed against this, refused, because their perfect finale was perfect, and they were convinced jensen loved it and would never do this, and this wasn't, according to 2po, about letting go, moving on, or learning from your parents. And I don't know how to explain how off course he is beyond just pointing at the first three episodes and saying listen to jensen's narration if the episode itself is too Big Brain for him to figure out the sUbTeXt.

Like I'm still where I was before the Deadline hit. This story is exactly what I said and deancas is down the road and they need to cope. But he's gonna keep wheezing out his fake bad sources like a bad prophet to the end, denying the obvious.

My #1 post of 2022

Hey guys so my first text post of 2022!

This is a bit later than I intended, but here we go...

So, 2021 while stressful due to obvious pandemic reasons, was also a weirdly decent year for me. It's a year that I discovered more of who I am and how good life could be now that I have finally begun to move on from past traumatic experiences and mental health problems, these problems I was still dealing with regardless of a pandemic or not. They had been lingering years before the worst shit happened to the whole world and I am grateful that I have worked them out, whether covid affected that or not. I can't say if it did to be honest. But anyway.

My point is that while yes, my mental health could always potentially get bad again, it seems that for the time being, I'm actually and honestly doing well. So there is that.

Life has also got pretty busy lately, so that would be why I don't use tumblr that often these days, but in spite of this, there have been some great peeps on here that I'm glad to have gotten to know in the last year or two on a semi regular basis, perhaps only spoken to a little or even just mutually followed.

So said peeps, I would like to give a special mention to. These peeps are just plain awesome and lovely (and I hope I don't forget anyone - sorry in advance if I did!!) are as follows:

Some context for the poets are bisexuals thing that was said last night, which Misha then agreed with.

FIRST, this was done after the introvert/extroverts/bisexuals thing.

Then, he went on and made a comment about there being a lot of poets and bisexuals in the audience.

Which is when the audience member said something about all poets are bisexuals.

And his response was even more interesting than just the fact that he agreed.

Since Jensen talked about his first day on the Boys so much I've heard a lot of it before and also different ways he's said it, but I've never heard the tape one before (highlighted that part in the translation)... And because I think I didn't really wanna know this info, I have to put it here...

Q: How was your first day on set, mr ackles? Did you get accepted immediately?

J.A.: It's funny, my character was frozen for many decades. I always say, I'm the new guy, who plays the guy, who has been there the longest. But the first day was memorable for me. When I came on set for the first time, it felt like I was a guest in someoneelses house. All nervousness was gone quickly, when I had to strip down on the first day in front of everyone. One says that one should imagine people being naked, when you're nervous, it was the other way around here.

K.U.: Unfortunately for Jensen it was a very cold day.

J.A.: That's true. I didn't even need a sock. They just put some duct tape over it.

I like imagining dean going "43 huh? I really am an old man now :)" and he means it in a positive way, bc he never expected to live past 30, but cas gets so OFFENDED on his behalf like "dean you are NOT old, the average life expectancy is around 80, you are barely half that age!"

Personally, im fond of "dean thinks he already confessed and cas doesnt return his feelings" truthing, bc it makes both of them look like dumbasses.

Dean thinks his feelings were obvious since almost saying "i love you" in the crypt, but he thinks cas DEFINITELY knows after his prayer in the trap, so cas not saying anything back must mean hes trying to let him down easy, right? He doesnt need to explicitly state his feelings and intentions, because they must be embarrassingly obvious. Cas has to know he is loved, forgiven and wanted, the fact that he doesnt reciprocate and keeps leaving is a clear enough answer in itself.

Except, cas is kind of a tunnel visioned autism boy and he NEEDS stuff spelled out for him at least once.

So while dean is over there being an emotionally repressed bag of "if i never talk about my humiliatingly soft feelings out loud, i cant ever be rejected out loud. people just have to KNOW", we have cas going "too bad my embarrassingly soft feelings obviously arent returned, i better keep them to myself so i dont ruin the friendship i have by being greedy" and theyre both wrong and most other people can easily see that.

Cas NEEDS it said out loud, thats why his verbal confession made him so happy, the words had been choking him for ages. Meanwhile dean is visibly confused bc why now and why is cas acting like his feelings arent returned when he KNOWS that dean.... and by the time dean has processed all of it, its too late.

Them overcoming their trust issues, low self esteem and bad communication skills together is essential to me in any post-canon fix it. Dean needs to know that its ok to talk about feelings and that cas deserves the security of an actual confession and cas needs to learn that not everything has to be explicitly spelled out for it to be true and he can just trust deans love for him.

I honestly don’t care if Jensen and Misha have never actually seen each other naked (I don’t believe that to be true, but if I were to be proven wrong somehow, I’d accept it)… what keeps me in the cockles dumpster is their complete devotion to each other. They love each other deeply, and respect each other, support each other, develop each other in sooo many ways that so few ever get to experience, and I just think that love is beautiful 💙💚

Sometimes I wonder if we (as a fandom) have over-analysed scenes to the point that we’ve forgotten what we were actually watching.

Most of our favourite parts of Supernatural, the mothership as it were, are our favourite bits because they’ve been analysed and broken apart and put back together so many times that we can create this bigger picture that is further moulded by our own headcanons and fic plots and playlists. And that’s what makes Supernatural great.

I’ve seen a lot of #thoughts on The Winchesters now that the pilot is out, and I know that not everyone thinks it was a winner - the jokes were cheesy, the CGI looked terrible, it didn’t feel right, whatever else - but I’d argue that’s because it’s being compared to the Supernatural in our heads, not the Supernatural that aired on television.

I’ve said it before and I still believe it with my whole heart… Supernatural should just be a mediocre watch and forget network television show, but it’s not because of the passion of the people it sweeps up under it’s spell and the little bit of extra magic each and every person who gives it a little love sprinkles on top. This new passion project just needs the same magic.

Some new information has been presented to me by a friend who attended this past weekend's Supernatural convention in Las Vegas. Cue too many coincidences for me to not talk about it...
